On tonight's instant reaction, Andy Naurion 3 presented by Polly Market.
We got to walk off.
Ole Miss.
Not great defensively in the fourth quarter, but Trinidad Shameless, magic as usual,
and the rebels walk off Louisville with a field goal as time expires to win 41.38 plus in Green Bay at Lambeau Field.
Notre Dame starts slow and pulls away from a Wisconsin team.
I don't think you should feel that bad about Wisconsin fans.
Notre Dame fans, don't freak out.
It's going to be okay.
We'll talk about it all.

Welcome to an instant reaction show, Andy Narion 3 presented by Polymarket and Rale.
We got to walk off.
You knew.
Highly entertaining game.
Very entertaining.
Probably not for Pete Golding, who his defense made him very angry in the fourth quarter.
That vein was popping out in the forehead.
Like, it's got to be so frustrating.
When your offense is playing great, you're making big plays, and your defense just keeps surrendering stuff to a team that wasn't particularly disciplined.
Like that Louisville team, pretty sloppy.
But when they needed to, they kept coming back, and Lincoln Keenholz had a good second half.
But Trinidad Shamliss comes through at the end, maneuvers the rebels into field goal territory.
They kick the field goal as time expires, Bada boom, Bada Bing.
And Ari, Trinidad Shamless picked up right where he left off.
Yeah, he sure did.
It took him about a half to get there, though, right?
First half, he wasn't humming quite as much as it was in the second half.
But the entire second half, it didn't feel like Louisville had a chance to stop them.
I know they got a few stops.
They erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
So, you know, they did something right, but, you know, it must feel good.
When everybody in the country who's watching this awesome game on television,
you have like 90 seconds left knows that you're going to go down the field and score.
Like, that was like an inevitability because he was playing really, really well.
You know, as it pertains to Ole Miss, you know, I think that their defense is a concern,
but I was going to ask you this.
Do you think that coverage busts are that big of a deal?
Or do you think that that's something that you can clean up after you watch filmed?
Well, you better clean them up.
But the problem is they're probably going to play offenses that are as good as this one or better down the stretch.
So.
Well, they're playing a really good one here in a few weeks.
Exactly, exactly.
So they've got LSU coming to their house a week from Saturday.
I don't know.
Sailor Joe in the chat.
I knew these teams would be closer in talent.
I'm glad we saw them shake some rust off,
and I carry that on.
No team should doubt either of these teams.
I don't doubt their capability to score.
I doubt their capability to defend both these teams.
Both these teams gave up big play after big play.
So I think it's one of those things.
If you are susceptible to that,
I don't know, you can tighten it up,
but I don't know that it ever goes away.
Yeah.
You know, coverage busts in a game.
like that, you know, could have cost you it.
I mean, it almost did, right?
Well, it did cost Louisville because they had the same problems.
Yeah.
I kind of feel like even without the coverage busts, like Ole Miss probably would have
just scored at will anyway, because like for, from my standpoint, and I don't know if you
agree with this, Andy.
Ole Miss's personnel on offense was just better than Louisville's personnel on defense.
And it felt like without Key Juan Lacey for most of the game.
Yeah, he got banged up and I think he was out for the entire fourth quarter, wasn't he?
He left in the middle of the third thing.
He was out longer than that.
I was it the middle of the third?
I thought it was pretty early.
Yeah, maybe it was the early third.
But I felt like Ole Misses issues were more about communication and not being in the right places than it was a personnel issue.
So we'll see.
Maybe I'm wrong about that.
But, you know, the one thing is for sure is that, you know, Deuce Alexander is an absolute animal.
And that's good for you.
You know, Key one, Lacey's injury doesn't seem to be something serious.
I'm sure he'll be back, if not next week.
Certainly for the LSU game, you can probably bet your ass on that one.
Their offense is really, really fun to watch and very, very good.
So I don't know if this will just be a shootout team or if they'll be able to clean this up.
But if I were an Ole Miss fan right now, I would be excited that I got to win.
I'd be thrilled by a game winning field goal, but I don't know that would be.
Don't look at the rest of the schedule, Ole Miss fans.
Just enjoy this tonight.
We'll talk about the rest of the schedule.
They've got LSU.
Obviously, we keep talking about that game.
The weekend after that, they got to turn around play Florida,
which scored 66 points.
Granted, it's against FAU,
but offense looked fairly sharp.
Vandy and Missouri are no slashes either,
but then you've got Texas,
you've got Georgia,
you got Oklahoma.
Ari, if they play defense the way they play tonight,
they're not making the playoff with that schedule.
Well, I'll tell you one thing.
I don't care how good their offense is either.
Like, they're not going to be scoring on every single position.
Well, maybe, maybe, you know, they did against some pretty good teams.
I guess some of these teams they might be scoring on every single possession.
Yeah.
But they do.
They, they certainly have to lock it up or they're not going to be anywhere near, you know,
where we thought they had a chance to be.
I had them initially ranked in my top 10th, release it on three about 20 minutes ago,
and I dropped them out as a result of what I saw there.
So, you know, obviously it's week one, who cares so much about the rankings.
We'll see exactly who they are when they play LSU in a few weeks.
But one thing's for sure.
they cannot and they do not want to be smoked by LSU.
LSU looked awesome.
You know Lane Kiffin's offense is going to cook.
They've got so many good players.
If Ole Miss comes into that game at home,
playing defense like they played tonight,
they're going to get run off their own field by their former coach.
You know they don't want that to happen.
So definitely have some stuff they need to clean up.
And luckily for them, they have a week to fix that stuff,
play an overmatched opponent, get another win,
and hopefully go into that game week feeling a little bit better about themselves.

This is, this was a fun game.
This is exactly what I needed at the end of the weekend.
Now, granted, there's one more game.
I'll be at the SMU Florida State game tomorrow night.
But, you know, people with normal jobs.
Well, tomorrow's a holiday.
So maybe people are going to enjoy their holiday,
but you might have the Monday version of the Sunday scary tomorrow.
Like right now, you got another day to chill out.
You can sleep in, and you got to enjoy an incredible football game tonight.
That was so much fun.
And fortunately, I'm not a defensive coordinator.
So I'm allowed to say how fun that was.
Yes.
But that was both teams I'm concerned at Louisville.
Like if Louisville can clean up some of the sloppiness,
Like the think about this, you take away the roughing the kicker call.
And I don't even know if that was really roughing the kicker.
They might have been running into the kicker.
Even if it was, they called it a field goal anyway.
Yeah, but they called it roughing and it gave them a new set of downs and they scored a touchdown instead of kicking a field goal.
So like some of that stuff needs to get cleaned up.
But if they do that, this is a team I think that can be competitive in the ACC.
I don't know if they're going to be better than Miami, but they, hey, Louisville beat Miami last year.
So they wouldn't have to play them until the ACC championship game.
Got a pretty good draw here, especially given what we've seen from some of these teams so far.
SMU will see tomorrow night.
We don't know what they are yet.
We think they're pretty good.
But we've seen NC State.
We've seen Florida State.
Syracuse look pretty good, but we've seen Stanford.
We've seen Georgia Tech.
We know North Carolina is.
This Louisville team has a really good chance of winding up in the ACC championship game.
if they just tighten up a few things.
Yeah, I don't know where you were at with Lincoln Keenholz,
but like I started the first half of that game,
first quarter that came going,
oh, this guy can't play.
And then I progressively was more and more impressed.
And then by the end of the game,
I'm like, this guy's electric.
You know, I started a game since high school.
And now remember he got thrown into that bowl game
when he was playing for Ohio State.
Didn't he start that game?
No, Devin Brown started that game.
And he got hurt.
Oh, that's right. That's right. That's right.
So Keenholz had not been, you know, taking snaps with the ones very much that week.
So this is, this was the first time since high school that he had prepared as the starter, started the game.
And I think it took him a little while to get comfortable.
But once he did, this dude's an athlete.
Did you see the stiff arm?
Like there's a guy trying to sack him.
And Keenholz just stiff arms and runs away.
And it ends up gaining a bunch of yards.
Like, this dude is an athlete.
And we knew that in high, like, I think he was a four sport star in high school.
So this guy can, this guy can play.
But it did take a while for him to get settled in.
But I'm wondering now, because he's, now they've got a, like, Villanova next.
So, like, he should have a chance to really get settled in before they got to play SMU.
That SMU game at home week three is, is one of the biggest games of their season.
Yeah.
You know, they are certainly a team to watch too, because if I,
remember correctly, they're not playing Miami this year.
So, you know, as we talk about the ACC race and all the teams that, you know, can figure
into that, it kind of feels like after watching all the ACC games this weekend,
it's Miami and everybody else, but S of you has a chance to insert their
themselves into the conversation on Monday night against Florida State in Tallahassee.
Yeah, yeah.
We'll find out where they're at in the ACC race.
Back to Ole Miss, though, Trinidad Shambliss,
exactly what we remembered.
Looked exactly the way he looked in the playoff.
Now, there was a couple
turnovers early, but
there's going to be some risk involved
when you play the way he plays.
Yeah.
It nets out positively, just about every time.
There was one play,
either on the final drive or the second
to last drive that Ole Miss had tonight
where Louisville had a few defenders
getting to the backfield pretty easily.
I think one was untouched.
And he just, like, was running backwards and did a stutter step and, you know, made them freeze
and then got around them and was able to throw the ball away.
And it was like, it's not a play that anybody will remember because it wasn't a game.
Yeah, I know exactly what's when you're talking about.
And it was just like, God, that guy's smooth.
You know, like it was going to be like against Georgia in the bowl game when he just,
you know, twisted around and then uncorked one.
Like I was like, okay, now he's going to uncork.
But this is, this was a case of turning a sack into.
an incompletion, which is fine.
Like, yeah, that's the thing.
He's so freaking hard to bring down.
Yeah, really good runner, great passer.
I think that you're going to see a lot of
Ole Miss games this year with fours on their score at the end of it,
maybe some fives.
You know, I think they're going to be a team that scores like this a lot.
But, you know, I think that coming into the game, Andy,
you know, I had a viewpoint of Ole Miss as a team that I thought was,
you know, maybe a top three or four team in the SEC.
and I think maybe they might be five, six, seven, or eight now.
And I don't know, again, we're not going to jump to conclusions.
I'm certainly not just going to make a final decision right now after that game.
But if I'm an Ole Miss fan right now, I'm probably a little disappointed by what I saw in the totality.
But the best thing about it is that you know Trinidad Chamblis is who he is.
He's going to be awesome this year.
There was no doubt about it.
We saw it.
The vibe I got from Ole Miss fans is they are not pleased with the defense that they are concerned.
And look, if I saw that LSU offense last night,
And then I saw this defense play tonight.
I'm freaking out.
Yeah, you don't have a month and a half to figure it out.
I mean, you're playing them in your SEC opener at home.
You know, and I think that that game probably means every bit as much to those people as the race and the SEC does this year.
You know, how personal that is?
I don't think there's a game that could be any more personal than that.
No.
So, no.
And it's a scary one because LSU looked awesome.
So we'll find out what happens there.
we've got, you know, they're going to play games this Saturday, and then the hype truly, truly begins.
This guy in the chat just made me laugh.
He goes, I got LSU plus 102 versus Ole Miss and May.
I'm rich now.
Ari, what's your house going for?
He wants to buy my house.
The bet is already, start spending it, man.
Start spending it because I know for sure if there's anything I found about, you know,
sports and predicting the future is that everything that you think is certainly going to happen
the way you think it's going to happen.
So, yeah, it's going to be a fun time, Andy, and I can't wait for that game.
It's going to be a great, great experience for everyone.
It will.
Now we need to move to Lambe Field.
Notre Dame, I think Notre Dame fans were probably freaking out for a little bit tonight
because their running game, which just lost two first round running backs, by the way,
Jeremy Love and Judarian Price are now in the NFL.
Their running game was bottled up for a half by Wisconsin's defense.
And I think they probably shouldn't worry as much.
I think Wisconsin is going to do this to teams.
So if I'm Notre Dame, I'm not, like, I wouldn't completely freak out over this.
What happened is the running game came around.
CJ Carr was throwing well the whole game.
The defense was awesome.
You got to pick six out of them.
So Notre Dame ends up pulling away from Wisconsin.
This one turned out, I feel like pretty much exactly what we said it would.
Like Wisconsin's better.
Notre Dame is really, really good.
Yeah.
The game was in Lambo.
The game was in Wisconsin.
Wisconsin has spent the entire offseason trying to toughen up its roster and prove that it is improved.
I think that what we saw there was an improved Wisconsin team that,
played a little over their heads in the first part of the game and, you know, made it a little bit
tricky, but then the two teams kind of just became who they were. Now, Wisconsin, losing 41 to 13
is probably not the final score you wanted to see. I think when the game was a three-point game or,
you know, close in the first half, you were hoping that maybe Wisconsin, if you're a Wisconsin fan
would, you know, lose by 10 or, you know, be in a position to win the game, maybe in the fourth quarter and
then really go into the season feeling really good about yourself.
You don't love the way that things got away from them.
But the one thing I will say that I took away from this from the Wisconsin side, Andy,
is it seemed like they played physical in a way that they didn't last year.
Like maybe they're maybe rediscovering their idea a little bit.
That's the way the defense played at the end of the season.
That's why they beat Washington and Illinois at the end of the season.
So they did, like you saw glimpses of that.
And I think against the teams on their schedule, remember, Wisconsin goes from having one of the
hardest guys on the Big Ten.
last year to on paper one of the easier ones.
And I think they're going to be able to really make some teams miserable
trying to run the ball against them.
But Annius Williams, I feel like kind of got it figured out in the second half.
And, you know, that's promising for Notre Dame.
Again, I'm not going to freak out over this.
I think this is about the best you could expect because you did end up seeing an opponent
that challenged you a little bit.
And I'm telling you,
if Wisconsin ends up being what we think they're going to be,
which I think is like a seven or eight win team,
this is going to look good at the end of the year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You just,
if you're a Wisconsin thing,
you just,
you kind of just wish that maybe they didn't tack on 14 extra points
in the fourth quarter once the game was socked away
because the final score is a little bit ugly.
Yeah.
Certainly uglier than the game was,
but, you know,
it wasn't even a game in the same.
second half. Notre Dame just rolled over them. I think they outscored them 28 to 3 in the second
half. Colton Joseph, I thought, looked pretty good at times. But, you know, I think that sometimes
in these games, too, Andy, regardless of what the narrative is or what the circumstances with the team,
if you're playing a team that is built to win the national championship, like, this is what happens.
Like, just because you can't win the national championship doesn't mean this year, it doesn't
mean that your program sucks or that you stink. But there are a lot of teams, I think, that
would finish in the top 30 to 20 range that would lose 41 to 13 to Notre Dame.
So, like, I don't know if this was something that would, like, really kill me.
But Wisconsin does seem improved.
But the thing that is always going to be the test for Luke Fickle isn't how, what they fared against Notre Dame.
I think eventually, if he gets things back on track, they will be directly compared
to teams like this.
I don't think they're at that point in their progression yet, you know, when they're going to be tested.
when they go on the road at Penn State on September 26th,
and they played Michigan State,
and then, of course, the biggest game on their schedule, in my opinion,
in terms of whether you're gauging his worthiness of keeping his job
into the next year is obviously Halloween evening.
On the road at Iowa, what happened to Iowa last year,
they gave up 40 points, and it was the worst game.
They had destroyed by Iowa.
Destroyed.
You have to go to Iowa and play in a one possession game
or win that game on Halloween.
But they do have a manageable schedule, and I do think this is a team that could conceivably win seven or eight games, which would be an improvement.
And, you know, what happened tonight while bitter the way it ended, I don't think it's going to be what tells the story of Luke Fickle's season in 2026.
Well, and let's talk a little more about Notre Dame because I think the defense showed you why you feel confident in this team.
Like, even though the offense was not great at first and the run.
running game took a while.
The defense made it where you felt like they were never going to be in danger in this
game.
And, you know, you get to the second half.
They have the nice try to start the second half.
And boom, you get the DJ McKinney pick six.
The game's over at that point.
2017, the game's over.
Yeah.
I don't, I don't know what you think, Andy.
Maybe we can get Big Cat on the show this week, talk about it, you know.
I'm sure he's probably not as down on them as he would have been a year.
ago. I know the score is bad, but Notre Dame is awesome. And, you know, that's what I'm talking about.
That's what I'm telling you that that Notre Dame defense is going to constrict a lot of teams.
Yeah. They're going to make a lot of teams miserable. So I don't think that's that big of a deal.
I thought Colton Joseph was fine, you know, playing against one of the, like, throw the schedule back up,
producer river. Is this the best defense they'll play? I don't know. Iowa is,
obviously going to be really good on defense.
It's the best defense they'll play, Andy.
You can say it.
It's okay.
All right, that's fine.
This is the best defense they'll play.
So,
yeah, I think,
I think you,
you've got a reason to be excited.
And Colton Joseph is upright at the end of the game.
So that's,
that's another reason to be very excited.
But Ari,
this is not an even defense.
The Lederdmore pass break up in the first half.
The one with the one hand?
Yeah.
He almost picked it.
He almost.
Picked it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Lute Newsflash, everybody.
Leonard Moore is good.
To flip the conversation in Notre Dame a little bit, too, is, like, I thought that they
would come out and, you know, we were technically right.
Believe it or not, I was right on one of my picks this week about Notre Dame wanting to
prove a statement or to play angry, but I don't think that's how they played in the first
half.
I thought they came out kind of lethargic, maybe a little tight.
They did. Maybe the idea of, you know, having to be perfect and just, you know,
put your boot on someone's throat from the get-go, kind of gets you a little off-kilter.
but they don't have a lot of tests on their schedule.
And I think beating a team that at least is recognizable from the Big Ten,
a team that I think has a chance to win eight games in the Big Ten.
41 to 13 is probably a good situation for them in their CFP candidacy.
But I'm looking at the schedule right now.
And their Big Ten opponents that are remaining are Michigan State and Purdue.
They have North Carolina and Stanford.
You know, I think they've got two big games on the back half of their schedule.
Three, I should say.
We'll see how SMU looks on Monday night.
but you know i'm also i'm also not discounting at syracuse at the end
against by the way former notre dame quarterback steve angelie if he's still healthy but
yeah with healthy steve angelie syracuse is is a pretty good team so but not not on the
level of miami not on the level of b yu so yes notre dame those are the two games b yu and
Miami that we're really looking at.
And they are going to
have to, I don't think they have to
win both of them, but they probably need
to be 11 and 1 with the schedule they have
to definitely make the playoff.
I think it's a relative certainty that they're
going to make it because I can't imagine they're going to go
0 and 2 in those games.
Or 0 and 3.
We'll see. I think SMU is a chance of being
pretty sneaky. And honestly,
I don't think that BYU is as good
as Notre Dame, but given the environment,
of going to Provo and what that game's going to mean to the Cougars.
I think that's going to be a little bit tougher than a lot of people might think.
I think that's going to be a really tough game.
But Notre Dame got off to the right start.
Obviously last year, losing their first two games and having to claw their way out of it,
you know, maybe Notre Dame can just like get to the back half of their schedule
and not feel like every week they're clawing their way out of a hole.
Like, that's a huge difference in what they've had to claw out of the hole even two years ago
and they made it to the national championship game.
So, yeah, and the offense started off a little sluggish in the first game.
year, but that may be just because Miami's defense was awesome.
Like, we saw at the end of the season that Miami's defense was just crushing people.
They did it.
You know, they did it to Texas A&M.
They did it to Ohio State.
Like, I think that may be the case.
Because, remember, week two, Notre Dame's offense was not the problem against Texas A&M last year.
It was the defense that day.
So I would bet this offense run smoother going forward.
and so that when they do hit that stretch
where they've got to play a little tougher competition,
I think they're going to be okay.
Yeah.
I think they're going to be all right.
So their home opener, I believe, is next week against Rice,
so excited.
But, you know, it was a good start for Notre Dame.
Might not have loved the first quarter,
but, you know, as the game went on,
I think that there was a pretty clear line of demarcation
between these two teams.
Yep.
And again,
I don't think this means Wisconsin is doomed to do what they did last year.
I saw some folks in the chat saying they don't think Fickles are going to survive.
I do think he's going to survive this year.
So we'll see who's right.
Tomorrow, I'm headed to Tallahassee.
I'm going to watch SMU in Florida State live and in person.
But first, we got a pick show.
Ari, I feel pretty good.
I'm guaranteed an over 500 finish in the picks this week.
You're sharp, dude.
You're sharp, alas.
You're sharp.
Olley market better watch out.
Yeah.
But remember, remember, if Florida State covers,
is SMU minus two and a half is when we picked it.
If Florida State covers, you got to run a mile.
Yep, I will do it on Tuesday.
We may have to film it.
Oh, okay.
Or I'll do it next time we're together.
And you can run with me.
That might be kind of fun because you'll, you can make fun of me while you're doing it.
It would be a better content if I waited to be with you.
Yeah.
I don't know what I'm going to see you.
I like that.
I'm not super confident that that's going to happen.
Not real confident in the Knowles, but you did talk me into predicting Florida State plus two and a half here.
So we'll find out.
But we got a pick show tomorrow where we're picking the games in week two.
And that includes Texas.
Ohio State at Texas. It includes Oklahoma at Michigan. It's going to be a lot of fun.
We'll talk to you then.
