Starting point is 00:00:01 On today, Danny and Rion 3 presented by Polly Market, the SEC, going to court because it's got a meeting scheduled on Thursday where the presidents will vote about whether to kick LSU out of the league. I don't think they're going to kick LSU out of the league, but they're going to court to establish the authority to do it if they want to. DefCon 1 in SEC versus LSU. Plus, what to do about Davo. Also, will Oklahoma be bringing justice for Western Michigan? All on today's Andy Narion 3 presented by Polymarket. We are sponsored by Polymarket. That's right, the world's largest prediction market.

Starting point is 00:02:07 and power outages and me not getting home until 4.30 in the morning for Florida State, we got another courtroom drama between the SEC and LSU. Ari, can I read to you from the book of the SEC's amended complaint
Starting point is 00:02:27 filed Tuesday in federal court? proceed, counselor. Pursuant to notice properly given under Section 5.1 contemporaneously with the filing of this first amended complaint, the CEOs, and by the CEOs, they're talking about the presidents and chancellors of SEC schools, will meet on September 10th, 2006. That would be Thursday to decide whether to terminate Louisiana State University, also known as LSU, as an SEC member institution pursuant, to Section 3.1.5 of the SEC Constitution and bylaws. Contemporaneously with the filing of this First Amendment complaint, the SEC is filing a motion for a temporary restraining order, TRO, pursuant to 42 U.S. Code 1983 to ensure that neither their defendants, their officers, agents, servants, employees, and attorneys, nor any person in active concert or participation with
Starting point is 00:03:19 defendants of their officers, agents, servants, employees, and attorneys take any action to block or interfere with the meeting schedule for September 10th or with the exercise by the conference and its member institutions of their First Amendment rights. All right. Let's go back to the money sentence. We'll meet on September 10th, 2020, to decide whether to terminate Louisiana State University as a member. I don't think they're going to vote LSU out of the league,
Starting point is 00:03:52 but they're essentially asking the court to say that they have, the authority to do that. Yeah, which is like hanging a nuclear weapon over the campus and saying, stay in line or this is going to fall out of the sky. Or a nuclear weapon, one of the two, yes. What did I say? Oh, yeah. Okay, we're not doing this again.
Starting point is 00:04:16 But yes. Nuclear. Nuclear. Nuclear weapon. Yeah. So, like, they're just trying to figure out, because like, this is a huge, you know, test case for the SEC to figure out how much they can actually enforce their own rules, right? And I guess, like, having the ability.
Starting point is 00:04:31 to terminate someone's membership is the ultimate enforceable, you know, scare tactics, right? It is the hammer. I've been watching that Green Lantern show, you know, the Green Lantern can create all those things with his ring. This is like the Green Lantern creating a giant sledgehammer, except Greg Sankey's the Green Lantern, and he gets a giant sledgehammer that he can bring down on a school
Starting point is 00:04:53 that doesn't want to follow rules that the SEC's presidents agreed to. Can I ask a stupid question? Because I'm more like the audience than I have. like you in terms of like understanding things at a high level. Can I, so I know that the Big Ten has major brands that have traditionally propped it up, like Ohio State and there's a big gap between like Ohio State. Oh, I love where you're going on. This is the key question right here.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Okay. The SEC has a lot of big time brands, but there isn't one that is maybe Texas. I don't know where they would stand, but like I would guess they're the most powerful water. But anyway. guys though yeah from a financial standpoint the SEC can say well we're going to discuss whether it makes sense for us to kick out LSU but my perception is that LSU is one of those big brands yes from a financial standpoint would that be cutting off your nose to spite your face if you're the SEC to actually go through with it like what would the financial consequences be I don't think they're going to do
Starting point is 00:05:52 it they're not going to this is just a we own you you're my bitch moment but yeah if they actually were to follow through with the nuclear nuclear weapon that they are threatening to have or try to possess. Would it make, like, how much would it hurt the SEC to lose LSU as a brand? Like how, like, can you play chicken? They would add, they would add Miami tomorrow or North Carolina tomorrow or Clemson tomorrow or Florida State tomorrow. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:19 It wouldn't, it wouldn't hurt them at all. To lose one would not hurt the SEC at all. To lose more than one would. anything where there's more than one school in opposition to the SEC is a different case entirely. The difference between the SEC and the Big Ten is like the Big Ten cannot lose Michigan or Ohio State. Losing either one of those would be devastating. And even now that's less true probably than it was five years ago because you have a working in the U.S. and Washington and other teams to prop it up that didn't exist five years ago.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Still be devastating though. There's not one school that the SEC would lose that would be devastating to the U.S.C. the SEC. But again, if it was more than one, yes. Okay. And then the other question is, if they were to exercise this right and drop the bomb and cut ties with the program because they're being insubordinate, what does that do to the other institutions that remain in the league in terms of feeling squirly about that? Since they're the ones authorizing it, I don't think they'd feel all that squarely. I think this is them saying this is how.
Starting point is 00:07:29 we all fall in line. And this one doesn't want to fall in line. Yeah. And I don't, I'm not sure. They did fall in line. And that's what I, that's what I was about to say.
Starting point is 00:07:41 I'm not sure LSU wants to fight this anymore. Yeah. I mean, I view LSU right now. Yeah, there may be some politicians. Go ahead. There may be some politicians in Louisiana that want to fight it.
Starting point is 00:07:55 I'm not sure that anybody in the football building in LSU or the athletic department wants to fight this. Yeah. I view LSU as kind of like being a class clown in a high school class this last few weeks. And like the teacher's like, all right, LSU, no, no, no, no. And then the teacher raises his voice and say, you want to flunk this class and then they sit down in their seat. Like, that's kind of like what happened here, in my opinion. I think it's like in fast times when, when Mr. Hand comes to Spicoli's house. You wasted my time.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Now I'm going to take your time. Yeah. What a great movie. Oh, yeah. What a great movie. This is, this is Greg Sank. Thank you as Mr. Han coming to Spicoli's house. You're here and I'm here.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Doesn't it make it our time? So we're old, by the way. We are. You know that like 80% of our audience probably has never even heard of that movie, let alone seen it. But you should all watch it. I don't think the SEC is going to kick LSU out. I do think it goes back to what you said a minute ago.
Starting point is 00:08:59 The SEC, And also, I mean, because all the other conferences are watching this too, they all need to know if they can actually enforce their own rules because all of them are sitting there going, we are not sure this bill in the Senate is going to pass. In fact, it probably isn't. Our plan B before we go to the thing that we will eventually go to, which is collective marketing,
Starting point is 00:09:22 our plan B right now is to formulate our own rules and try to enforce our own rules. If the court does not grant the TRO, which by the way, don't assume that they're just going to have the power. Yeah. Don't assume there's going to be home cooking. This is federal court. This isn't a state court.
Starting point is 00:09:41 So don't assume. But if the court wouldn't grant the TRO or the judge says, I'm not sure you'd win this to the SEC, the SEC then has to come up with another plan, not necessarily to deal with LSU to deal with the future. Like that. Yeah. I think the LSU situation.
Starting point is 00:10:00 may already be solved. This is more about how do we go forward in the future. And so 100% yes. Yeah. And so like if they get the TRO, I would think this would emboldened the SEC and the Big 10 and the Big 12 and the A's, all of them to say, okay, we can, we can make our own rules. We can enforce our own rules. That's cool. We're going to try that now. Yeah. What happened here was that LSU got kind of squirly, right? They got a little off kilter, but what was actually happening probably wasn't that big of a threat. But LSU also got to, I mean, sorry, the SEC also got a taste of, well, if this happens or something more serious or something more threatening happens in the future and the school wants to push
Starting point is 00:10:42 it further than LSU did, what are our options? And they're going to use this situation as a way to kind of discover through the court system what they might actually be able to do three, four, five years down the line if and when things get a little bit more wonky. I don't know how they can, but they probably will in college football. and how they can enforce those rules. So like if I'm an LSU person, it's kind of shocking to read.
Starting point is 00:11:04 We will meet at the end of the week to decide whether or Thursday, whatever day it is, whether LH, that's not what's actually happening here. What's happening here is the SEC is trying to figure out how powerful it can be. Right, right. And if they are granted the authority to do this, and they do have the vote,
Starting point is 00:11:19 because they've said they're going to have the vote, they probably vote no. Yeah. They're probably like, we're not going to kick you out. But we are going to, we're going to slap your hands. hand and we're going to say never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever,
Starting point is 00:11:35 do this again. Don't go against the family. You never go against the family. Yeah. So this is going to be a fascinating next few days. I just don't, like, reading the court document, even when you know the context of it, when you know they're not really going to do it. it says in black and white a vote of the CEOs
Starting point is 00:12:08 to determine whether to terminate LSU's membership. Like, that's serious. That's deadly serious. Yeah. So, Andy, one last question, and then we'll move on, but from my perspective,
Starting point is 00:12:24 I always try to think about, like, the, you know, dense in between the ears thinking that goes a lot with these court cases, but trying to boil it down to what should the average fan hope happens here? Should the average fan hope that the SEC does get the power because then that means there's a higher likelihood
Starting point is 00:12:41 that they can institute rules and actually enforce them? Is that like where the general fan should be falling in line here? Well, I think it depends on what you want. If you think they should eventually get to collected bargaining and skip the other steps, then you'd say, hey, judge, don't give them the TRO. And let them deal with the chaos a little bit longer. until they just finally cave in and do the solution everybody knows they're going to ultimately have to do.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Right. But it's like Florida State, but courtroom version. Yeah. Well, this, but this also could be, yeah, we're going to talk about that, the Florida State coaching situation. Like, let's just take the Ls now and then hopefully we can get to a change that actually is good enough for, like, you don't want any little victories for the other side. but it also could be a way station between this and collective bargaining where there is some more order if the leagues can enforce their own rules or maybe that just works for them maybe it produces a more orderly system because if the leagues can can make their own rules like a lot of the worry
Starting point is 00:13:50 of all these rules that everybody's trying to come up with in the congressional bill is that will limit players' ability to earn. If the leagues are actually competing with one another and not allowed to collude, which they wouldn't be, the only way they could enforce the rules if the rules were actually different from one another and arrived at in a different fashion. That opens up a whole other mess. Well, it makes it like it is now, because basically the SEC will create a salary cap that'll be higher than the ACC and the Big 12.
Starting point is 00:14:22 And then the Big Ten is going to go, well, we have more money than you. so we're going to make a salary cap higher than you. And then the SEC will raise theirs. And so like it actually probably gets you to the same place. But it may, it allows them to feel like they're a little more in control of it, I think. So. But I've ever got to a point where individual season, the SEC or the Big Ten had a higher salary cap than the other. And then they were successful in winning the championship.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Coaches will complain in those moments about not having the same amount of leeway or resources to build a roster as the team. teams that they're competing against and how messed up that is. Like, that's just a disaster too. Yeah, I am fascinated to see how this works out. Mm-hmm. Because presumably by setting the date of the meeting and saying it's Thursday, the SEC is saying they would like the judge to rule on this TRO request before the meeting. Right.
Starting point is 00:15:21 So we're going to get some action. Action pack shows Wednesday and Thursday. Yepy. Except not about football, which is tired of it not being about football. But that's okay because we're going to talk about football. We're going to talk about football, and you're going to help us talk about football because we put out a phone number last week, the Annie and Arion 3 hotline. And you guys delivered 615-378-88-9.
Starting point is 00:15:53 You call us and leave us a voicemail, preferably right after your team, plays or right after you've seen a game and you're inspired, because we like it when it's fresh. And man, there was some fresh emotion after that Western Michigan-Mission game. We're going to talk about that in a minute. But before that, we're going to talk about another performance that, well, this one didn't quite live up to snuff. But before we get to your calls, I want to tell you about element.
Starting point is 00:16:24 This is an element watermelon salt stick. It is one of my favorite things in the world. I pour this in my water bottle, shake it up, drink one of these before the workout, drink one of them after the workout. They have tons of other great flavors, pink lemonade, they've got citrus, they've got the sparkling element electrolyte drink.
Starting point is 00:16:46 So all the electrolytes, none of the dodgy stuff, zero sugar hydration from Element. Right now, you can get a free eight-count sample back pack of elements most popular drink mix flavors with any purchase if you want to get that deal you hit that QR code that's on the screen right now if you're listening in podcast form there's a link in the show notes that'll take you to the element website that will get you that free eight count sample pack with any purchase and man these flavors are good there's raspberry salt they they really mix it up and i just are i feel so much better when i'm drinking element
Starting point is 00:17:26 Andy, I know people that were listening to the show this past week knew I was not feeling well. I drank a bunch of these while I was sick, and it made me feel much better. Obviously, when you're sick, hydration is an important thing. And obviously, the performance aspect of it and the working out aspect of it, it's good to keep the sodium in. But like to keep and retain water while I was sick, I feel like it made me feel much better during a pretty crappy week. So, yeah. What you had, you got to hydrate. And elements the best way to hydrate.
Starting point is 00:18:02 So all the electrolytes, none of the dodgy stuff, hit that QR code, hit that link in the show notes, get a free eight-count sample pack of elements, most popular mixed flavors with any purchase. Ari, let us get to the voicemails. All right, all right, all right, let's hear voicemail number one. Andy, Ari, this is Sad Huskers, Nate. Andy, you're a history student of the game.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Ari, you don't remember anything that happened five minutes ago. What we just watched with Davo is exactly what I watched in 2001, in roughly right before Thanksgiving, actually the day after Thanksgiving in 2001, against the Colorado Buffaloes with the Huskers, with Frank Solich and the decline of a dynasty. Is that what we just saw last night with Dabo and Clemson? Again, Ari, I love you. But you need to have an attention span longer than a goldfish, my man.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Sad Huskers, Nate's killing you. But that's okay. He asks a valid question. You know what the cool thing about that, though, is? Even though I was 14 years old and probably don't recall what game he's talking about, I know exactly what he's referring to. They were awesome in the 90s. It's a Black Friday game, 2001.
Starting point is 00:19:35 It's different. It's different. So Colorado beat the snot out of Nebraska that day. Nebraska still played for the national title that season. They played for the BCS title against Miami in that season. And that's the difference. This Clemson team ain't playing for any kind of title. I feel comfortable saying that right now.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Maybe I'll be wrong. Maybe they'll play for the ACC title. But I feel very comfortable saying this Clemson team is not going to play for a title this year. Yeah. But I think that the point overall stands, which is, is Clemson finished. Under Davo, they look like it. Because it looked like Davo thought that he had a team that could compete with that LSU roster. And if he thought that, then he doesn't understand the era he's in right now.
Starting point is 00:20:30 And he was kind of moving the week prior with the jokes and, you know, staying in your lane and all that stuff in a way that would imply that he thought they had a real chance to win. Right. Which I realize there's no film on that LSU team. You don't know what they're going to look like playing together. But you did evaluate the players on the roster. Like that's what you do when you've got a new team and new players coming together. if you know what you're looking at, you knew you were going to have a problem
Starting point is 00:21:02 versus what you see on the practice field every day. But that's the question. And where is dabble on that? And so he got a really interesting question in his press conference today from Chapel Fowler who covers Clemson for the state newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina. And his answer is something.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Have you there? Anybody else in the room? Do you regret anything about your off-season roster construction right now? Chap will you come with all these questions? I'll tell you, you're the gotcha guy. No, I don't, I don't, man. I regret being 0-1-1 right now. I regret that.
Starting point is 00:21:42 But, no, we're, we're, can you ask me that at the end of the season? You know, the season and over. I mean, we've got one game, we've got 11 more. What if we go 11 and 1? You promised me you, you'll ask me that then? Okay, good. I'll answer it. All right, but I'm not answering questions like that, you know, Chapel. I know that's your role and that's in this environment, you know, to be the guy that wants to create all the controversy and ask the controversial questions. If that's who you are, it's fine. I get it. But I'll answer that in and say, we play one game.
Starting point is 00:22:16 One game. All right? Did you play football? No. Okay. Well, they give you 12 games, and at the end of the year, you count them up. all right and and you know that's when that's when those type of questions are fair to me you know not after one game to maybe the best team in the country maybe the best team in the country all right now other people have good teams and coaches and things like that too so i give them credit we got 11 more games i played football davo i was walk on just like you well you were a better walk on than i was but But that's the question.
Starting point is 00:23:00 That's the question every one of your fans once answered. So that's why he asked it. It's not because he's trying to be Mr. Gotcha guy. He's doing his job. You should be doing your job, which is putting a competitive team on the field, and you didn't. They could have scored 80 on you if they wanted to.
Starting point is 00:23:19 That's how bad the team you put on the field was relative to LSU. So that is a completely legitimate question. yeah completely legitimate and guess what i hope he asked it at the end of the season because i don't think you're going to be 11 and 1 if you're if you're six and six and he asked that what are you say deba was a very nice guy uh i think just like as a human being at the human level yes that was the pretty snippy answer i thought that was borderline disrespectful well it was Yeah. And he didn't earn the respect to not get that question
Starting point is 00:24:02 because he sent a team out there to get its ass kicked. Yeah. It's not strong. Has he earned it in the past? Yes. But like I keep saying about Davo, the minute you retire or the minute you aren't coaching anymore, you're one of the greatest coaches in college football history.
Starting point is 00:24:21 While you are drawing a paycheck to coach college football, your job is to produce or you're not earning that paycheck. Do you, I mean, maybe that's what Chappell should ask. Do you think you earned your paycheck this week? Yeah. I mean, it's a legitimate question. That's the question every Clemson fan once answered. Why didn't you go in the portal for a quarterback?
Starting point is 00:24:49 Yeah. That one kind of hit close to home to me, Andy, because early in my career, Tressel did that to me. Yeah. I don't know if you remember this or even know this, but you've told me this story. Yeah. Yeah. Torel Pryor was yelling in his face very disrespectfully right before half at Iowa.
Starting point is 00:25:06 And I asked after the game and he goes, have you ever played football before? And, you know, I have. I mean, I play in high school, but I am a human and I know what's appropriate when it comes to authority and how you should act and that was inappropriate. And, you know, the thing is, is that, you know, Dabo likes to do that, you know, we'll play 11 more and he's very condescending in all these things. but Andy, I don't know if you agree with this, and I think I might write about this, but what you do in the ACC might actually be somewhat impressive. You might make the ACC championship game,
Starting point is 00:25:41 though I doubt it with you. I think that he just doesn't understand that, like, there's one game on Clemson's schedule. Are they playing Miami this year? I can't remember. They are playing Miami. They do have Miami. There are two games.
Starting point is 00:25:54 There are two games on Clemson's schedule this year. that they will be, that the grading rubric is set. Can you compete with the best teams in college football? Is your team a national championship contender? That is what he's drawn. You get paid to compete for national titles. If you made what Fran Brown makes or what Tosh LaPoy makes, then okay, then we'll patch you on the head after an eight-win season or a seven-win season.
Starting point is 00:26:26 You know what this is, Andy? This is a, you know how some classes in college are structured where like all the homework and assignments that you have to do in between tests are like worth 10% of your grade. Right. And then you have a midterm that's worth 40% of your grade and a final that's worth 50%. You got like an F minus on your midterm. So you can go and do all your homework and show up the class and get 100% on all your homework. But your final exam is coming up. And unless you beat Miami, like you fail the class.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Like that to me is where we're at. But Ari, if they play the way they play the other night, they're not even going to get the homework done. Right. They'll get the exams. Yeah. They're not going to get their homework done against Cal. They're not going to get their homework done against Syracuse,
Starting point is 00:27:11 against Duke, against South Carolina. Like, by the way, Syracuse and Duke teams that beat them last year. But you know that Davo's been skating on doing your homework for the last five years, right? And I know last year might be an exception, but they played for the ACC championship game two years ago and won the ACC. and like that is an accomplishment and I'm not trying to diminish what it means to win a power league.
Starting point is 00:27:32 But that's not what you're being judged against. And Dabo will tell you, we won the ACC two years ago as like a way to illustrate that things are fine. And I think that that's just a complete misunderstanding of what the paycheck is paying you to do and what the faints that Clemson expect you to accomplish. This was a massive test.
Starting point is 00:27:50 And I'm not saying that you had to win. If Clemson would have lost to LSU by 10 and played a respectable game, the tenor of this conversation might be much different. I'm not even sure that Chappell would have asked that question. But questions and news. He wouldn't have asked the question. If this is a two touchdown game, he's not asking that question.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Yeah. So I'm with Chappell on this one. Never met him before. But I think it was the right question. I think it was a fair question. And just because a reporter asks a question that's critical of you, there are times where we should be critical. We can also find plenty of people who played a lot
Starting point is 00:28:25 of football at high levels who will ask the same question. Like if we call Cole Kublich right now and said, what's your question for Davo? Cole would probably be like, well, does he regret not getting quarterback out of the portal? Like we called Greg McElroy. If we called our friend Jeff Schwartz, who played in the NFL for years,
Starting point is 00:28:50 like they're all going to ask you the same question. A reporter's job is to be the conduit for the fan. to the coach. That's what we do. We ask the questions that the fans want answers to. Let's ask George Reiser. George Reiser was a great tight end at Oregon and played in the NFL. It was a good player in the NFL. Yeah. Like it's not a gotcha moment. We're trying to switch the answer. I bet George has that question too. Yeah. So I don't know what what's going to happen next. What I do know is that this Clemson team, I think you can say it beyond the shadow of it out, is not
Starting point is 00:29:27 equipped to compete for a national championship this year. So if they go beat the crap out of Cal or they go beat the crap out of UNC or whatever, that's great. You're a good student. You showed up. You did your homework. Let's see how good your final exam is on October 3rd. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:45 You get that home too. If you want to see a coach in the same conference who's facing a more dire situation, like Mike Norville. probably has it as bad as anybody. He's getting booed by his own fans over and over again. They're ready for him to be done. They want him out. But his response is completely different.
Starting point is 00:30:13 So last night, after the game, I asked him about getting booed. Like, Florida State had the ball down three against a ranked team on national television. and Florida State's fans were booing the play calling. So I asked Mike Norvell, do you hear that? Mike, you got fans booing when you're in the fourth quarter of a game that you're down three with the ball. Do you guys notice that? Does that affect the team at all?
Starting point is 00:30:49 You know, I mean, you notice it. But, you know, at the end of the day, there's always going to be, there's always going to be outside perspective. And, you know, whether you're at home, whether you're on the road, you've got to be able to control what you can control. And, you know, that's going to be, that's a part of this game. We're blessed and honored to be able to get to do it where we get to do out there on that field. And, you know, we represent a special program.
Starting point is 00:31:16 We represent a special place. And, you know, I can tell you that our players, our coaches, you know, everybody within the program has the highest of expectations. And, you know, we want to be successful. And that's what we work for. That's what we work towards. I know there's a lot of, you know, the passion of this place. I mean, this is what makes it incredible.
Starting point is 00:31:36 And, you know, that's, it is what it is. And, you know, if you don't want to get booed, continue to play, you know, continue to work and play better. And, you know, if that happens, I mean, we have booed a week ago on a third down, then converted to fourth down, and then cheering. You know, it's all part of it. You know, it's just the, that's a part of. what we get the opportunity to do and just maintain our focus on our job and don't get distracted
Starting point is 00:32:05 by that either. Now, Mike Norville has not done a lot of things right. He did a lot of things wrong Monday night in the lost SMU. There's a reason those fans want him gone. But that's how you answer that question. Don't make it worse for yourself by attacking the person asking you the question. accept responsibility, say you're going to work harder and move on. That's what he's paid for. Mike Norvell understands he's paid a lot of money, and he's expected to produce results. Now, producer river with a good point. Florida State had already won national.
Starting point is 00:32:49 Like Bobby Bowden built the thing at Florida State, and then Jimbo Fisher won a title two. Mike Norville didn't do that. Dabo did it. Dabo built it at Clemson. which I understand is a different scenario. But that does not excuse not continuing to do the job that they are paying you handsomely for. Andy, that's the, that's River said it. But I think that this is the actual point.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Dabo thinks that he shouldn't be criticized because he did it. Right. I think Dabo, he has cachet that Mike Norvell doesn't have. Again, if you don't want to be criticized anymore, stop coaching. If you're going to draw a paycheck to coach, you'll be criticized on your most recent performance. And most recently, you lost by 41. We had this conversation last year.
Starting point is 00:33:43 I think Dabo is resentful of negative viewpoints because he thinks that people aren't appreciative of what happened. I think they appreciate it. But again, they're paying for results now. They're not paying as a thank you for, two national titles then. They already paid you for those. Yeah. When I say appreciate it,
Starting point is 00:34:09 obviously Clemson fans love it and will remember and cherish it forever. I mean, in the moment, he thinks that how could you have the gall to question what we're doing here? And I think that's the biggest mistake. And he's been making it for four or five years now. And I think that there's a certain point
Starting point is 00:34:25 like, and I sent this before I saw the whole clip that you played, I sent you the, what Larry Williams, from Tiger Illustrated, posted to Twitter about hey, it's week one. You know, we've got a lot of season left. And it's just like, at a certain point, you got to stop staying the shit.
Starting point is 00:34:41 It's just like, it's not going to do you. It's okay to admit things are not the way you'd like them to be and that you could have done better. Yeah. And you know how we always talk about how college football is a what have you done for me lately business? Dabo has been skating on his cachet for a half of a decade. now. They haven't beaten
Starting point is 00:35:05 a team that is good enough to win a national championship in six years. That's a long time. They've given him more than enough of an appell opportunity to get this thing back to where it needs to be. We're not talking about, oh, we're down one year or two years after this run, give it some
Starting point is 00:35:21 time. Clemson has given it time. Six years? How many coaches get six years? Right. And if you want to say that winning the ACC a few years ago was resetting the clock, I disagree with that. because what happened the following game against Texas. They were semi-competitive, I would say,
Starting point is 00:35:40 but they were never going to win the game. Texas ran all over. It wasn't, they could have played that game 100 times and Texas would have won every time. Can you really survive six years with a national championship expectation and not beat a team that can win a national championship for six years? That is an eternity.
Starting point is 00:36:01 Do you know that? Do you know what the standard is at Clemson? Because they have it all over the walls. It's written on the wall. What's the standard at Clemson? What does it say on the wall there? I can't remember. Best is the standard.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Are they the best? Far from it. Then they're not meeting the standard. And you're not meeting the standard. You get questioned about it. I thought it was all in. That's how this works. I don't remember best.
Starting point is 00:36:31 They also have all in on other parts of the wall. Okay. I've never been to Clemson. I don't know if you know that. Like the actual facility. I've been to the stadium. Never been in its facility. Best is the standard is another one of Davos' mottoes.
Starting point is 00:36:46 And they're not the best, so they're not meeting the standard. People create new standards and fail to meet their own standard all the time. That's this. He's not unique in that. So. Yeah. But Chap will keep it up, man. We know that you're not trying to be controversial.
Starting point is 00:37:02 You're asking a question that your fans want to hear the answer to. And that's good, that's good work. All right, Ari. Let us now move to the game that inspired the most calls to the hotline. That was Western Michigan, Michigan. Had a few people looking forward to Michigan's next opponent, which of course is Oklahoma, visiting Ann Arbor for a big noon kickoff game on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Michigan, a six and a half point underdog at home. Ari, Ari, there's some good voicemails. Let's say number one. Andy, Ari, what I watched tonight disgusted me. Western Michigan was robbed. And Oklahoma, our fans, we're going to bring them justice. Justice for Western Michigan!
Starting point is 00:37:52 I hope they all say it like that from the visitor section in Arbor. Do you think they could all scream that in unison when the game starts? That would be hilarious. And that's also the same tone that I picture you last night with the power outage at Florida State yelling in the press box. Follow me to freedom. Follow me. Follow me to freedom. So you know what the thing is, justice for Western Michigan would be like awarding them a win because no matter what happens with Michigan moving forward, it's not going to take the sting away from Lance Taylor's team.
Starting point is 00:38:30 But if you actually are concerned about Michigan paying its justice, just remember this. they have a quarterback that they are into for eight figures who can't play football right now. And like you can, they can celebrate and storm the field. And Oklahoma is not the only great defense they're going to see all here. Yeah. Like I think that Michigan is already paying the consequence for that. You know, I saw that look on Caleddingham's face after that game.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Yeah. He wasn't, you know, and I don't know because I know there's like these like lip readers who, who try to figure out what these coaches are saying on the field during handshakes and stuff. And like the thing that was going around online was that he said there was no time left to Lance at midfield. Like I mean, they were, he's probably had a really rough week.
Starting point is 00:39:22 So, you know, Michigan fans can pretend like nothing's wrong and everything's fine. We got the win next to, you know, survive in advance, all that stuff. They are in a world of hurt right now. So, you know. And their rivals are closing in, producer river play that next voice well Michigan storm in the field
Starting point is 00:39:40 was worse than Appalachian State losing Appalachian State it was kind of beautiful to see that what a pathetic institution program they are right now I'm not going to docks this person's phone number entirely but I will tell you the area code was 614 if you don't know what that is that's Columbus Ohio
Starting point is 00:40:00 so yeah somebody released a chart this week saying it was the saddest field storm of all time in terms of like pre-game spread and circumstance. I think I would agree. Now, what this person is saying is that storming the field for beating Western Michigan is more pathetic than losing to Appalachian State. The defending national champs, by the way. They were, yeah, they were defending FCS national champs at the time.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Yeah. So. We tried to broach this subject with you on Saturday night. Maybe it was just too late, but like does winning the game under the, I'm thinking too much about the, well, no, because I don't, like, I don't care if you're storing the field. I don't care why you store in the field. Like, it doesn't matter to me. But I'm here for rivals, breaking rivals balls.
Starting point is 00:40:54 I'm here for that. And so if you're an Ohio State fan and you want to criticize the field storm, by all means, you go ahead. Because it's not what most people would storm the field for. more. Andy, we've talked a lot about the Connor Stallion's situation. By the way, just dawned on me that Western Michigan's logo is a horse.
Starting point is 00:41:18 The I don't know if they cheated. I don't know how much the cheating if they did cheat. We're not talking about in this game. You're talking about the sign stealing scheme. I'm talking about four years ago. Three years ago. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah. The first point in my thoughts on Monday was that quit with the conspiracy theories. The explanation was perfectly acceptable and I believe it.
Starting point is 00:41:43 But I don't know how much Michigan's sign stealing cheating impacted their ability to win the national championship. It's something that I think is impossible to quantify and we'll never know. I do know that they played a bunch of really tough games after he was no longer on the sidelines and won those games too. But doesn't it kind of feel like in the time since Michigan won the national title that if karma exists, that they are paying the price for it. Like, think about, like, the nonstop Michigan scandal, Michigan awfulness that they're having to live through as fans right now. And they can pretend like they don't care.
Starting point is 00:42:18 Well, okay, as fans, the fans don't have, that it's not their fault. No, no, no, I know. This is self-inflicted on Michigan's part, but yeah. Yes. And it obviously has nothing to do with Kyle Whittingham. He had nothing to do with it. And by all all accounts is a really nice man who has done things the right way for two decades. But I'm saying just from like a.
Starting point is 00:42:34 like I don't know if Dave Portnoy is just a caricature of a Michigan fan and maybe he is because he's just, you know, trying to rack up YouTube views and stuff. But like the laughing and like the running around and ha ha, ha, you can't kill us all that stuff. It kind of feels like that is performative in a way that like actually a Michigan fan is probably pretty disgusted by what's gone on there the last few years. I don't think most Michigan fans present like Dave. But Dave, there probably are some who do. And like you and I both know Ohio State fans and Alabama fans and Georgia fans and Florida fans who present that way. You know, what do they call them the lunatic fringe? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:20 No, the lunatic fringe are the actual most critical people who go insane over the littlest things. That's true. That's the lunatic fringe. But I think that there are people like, we have our ring, kiss the ring. no cares what happens afterward. Like, I remember the whole thing with Michigan's title run was, we're all in right now to win this ring. What happens after this year?
Starting point is 00:43:41 Who gives a shit? That was like, that was the motto. That was like, we're all in. We're doing this together. And it's like, okay, you did win the championship. But if your thought process was whatever happens after this, who gives a shit, like you got a pretty tough few year run here coming up. So, you know, again, I'm not into fairy tales and sci-fi movies.
Starting point is 00:44:00 but if there was karma and they did cheat, it does kind of feel like this is what it would look like to pay the consequence for it. Well, this is going to be pretty interesting. Producer, we have a voicemail from an Oklahoma fan who's looking for a job this weekend. Andy, Ari, this is Brandon from Tulsa. And I just got done watching that Michigan game.
Starting point is 00:44:24 I've been scrolling LinkedIn looking for clock operator positions because this Oklahoma fan is headed to Ann Arbor next weekend. Hope to see you there. Bye. I don't think they would hire you for that. I also would rather just enjoy the game than have to be the person responsible
Starting point is 00:44:42 for stopping and starting a clock. That seems like a lot of work. Yeah. Were you amused at all last night by the fact that the game with the power outage, like didn't have functioning clocks and like everybody was making jokes about how the refs have their own clocks. It was like so funny to me.
Starting point is 00:45:00 And the other thing, I'm curious about it. I just saw my son play a high school game where the scoreboard didn't work. And so the rest were keeping the time on the field. Okay. And there were five touchdowns scored in the first quarter. And the first quarter felt like it lasted two hours. We're like, why are they still going the same direction? So I've been there.
Starting point is 00:45:18 And Brett Lashley was actually talking about this. The SMU coach, he played a game in high school at Shallow Christian in Arkansas. And it's apparently one of the most famous games in Arkansas high school history. The scoreboard didn't work. the basically nothing worked other than the lights at the field and so the rest were keeping the time on the field and it was a 70 to 64 game it was like back and forth one in the last seconds
Starting point is 00:45:44 and nobody had any idea what was going on they didn't even know what the score was most of the time I kind of marvel at like the play clock situation how the players do it and well the play clock when you have no play clock because most high schools in America don't have a play clock. Yeah. The back judge will go 10 seconds.
Starting point is 00:46:06 And then at five, they'll start counting like a basketball route. Five, four, three, two. Yeah. And so it, and that's what they were doing last night. That's what went before the play clocks came back. That's what they were doing. Yeah. But yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:18 So the clock operator, I don't want that job, especially if I'm an Oklahoma fan. Like, you're already favored. I don't think you're going to need extra help. At least you shouldn't. If they're going to play the way they played last week, you should be fine. They shouldn't need you to infiltrate the clock and be doing anything that you shouldn't be doing. Ari, one more. And we got a, our first guy remembered something that he believes to be significant.
Starting point is 00:46:49 So he's back. Andy, Ari, I figured it out. I can't believe it didn't put two and two together. What does this game, this one. second being put back on the clock have to do with Western Michigan and Michigan. I figured it out. You have to go back a few years ago, however long it was, when Western Michigan got one second put back on the clock in Stillwater, Oklahoma. What's the connection? What's the connection between Stillwater and Ann Arbor? I think you guys have some of that have some investigating to do. We're thinking
Starting point is 00:47:26 about it. Meanwhile, Oklahoma this Saturday will get justice for Western Michigan. Justice for Western Michigan! I love the way he says it. Also, he apparently thinks all directional Michigan schools look alike, because what he was talking about in Oklahoma State was in 2016, Central Michigan. Got an untimed down and scored a touchdown to win. And won. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But, you know, hey, Oklahoma fans, you listening to this, you got to start a Justice for Western Michigan chant. That would be hilarious.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Well, it's not really a, it's too many syllables to be a chant. You got to do it once. It's kind of like Johnny Drama in entourage. Victory! So, yeah. Wait, let's see. Can we do it? You want to try it?
Starting point is 00:48:18 We're going to try it. Sure, let's try it. Three, three, two, one. Justice for Western Michigan! I was going to say victory. I thought you meant victory. Let's try it again. Three, two, one.
Starting point is 00:48:33 Justice for us for fishing. It's not a chant for sure, but it could be a battle cry. Can definitely be a battle cry. So we'll see if we hear that at the big house on Saturday. I don't think we will, but we might. Ooh, Eddie Radosovic from Sooner Scoop can make this a thing. He has that level of sway with the Oklahoma fans. Yeah, well, he literally got 50 cent to come to their playoff game.
Starting point is 00:49:06 So, like, that was all him. Do you think if we send these to Eddie, these voicemails, that he will have everybody in Crimson and Cream who goes to Ann Arbor on Saturday screaming Justice for Western Michigan? You know, I've been like clamoring to have Eddie on the show again, you know, behind the scenes. Okay, let's get him on, let's get him on tomorrow or Thursday. Yeah. And we will, we will have.
Starting point is 00:49:32 hash this out. We will see if we can get him to make, we know you can't make fetch a thing. You can't make fetch happen. But I think Eddie can make anything a thing within the Oklahoma fan base. Am I going to the wrong game? No, Ohio State, Texas, I think he's going to be a pretty fun game. I know, but I'm thinking like, well, it's going to be a fun, really high
Starting point is 00:49:56 impact game between two playoff teams. But it's like if Price Underwood gets benched in the second quarter of like the Oklahoma game, that's going to be more impactful. And if that happens, we'll probably break into programming and go live. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just I'm driving three hours away from my house in the wrong direction, maybe. So we'll see, we know how it goes, but don't worry. Your camera will work there.
Starting point is 00:50:23 They have internet. Like, they've built a lot of internet technology in Austin, I've heard. So I think you've heard about how bad of luck I have with internet, everywhere I go, no matter what. You know, my car has a hot spot, and I try to connect to it, and then it doesn't work ever. Do you know I use my phone? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Tethered my computer to my phone to broadcast live from the field last night, and it worked perfectly. Tethered my phone to my computer, I couldn't load the homepage of Google. It's because your parents still pay your phone bill. Is that really the connection you think? You think that's why? Like, if I went and paid out my own bill,
Starting point is 00:50:56 I would be able to do it. I think if you decide to pay your own cell phone bill, that God will go, now I'm going to turn his internet on. Yeah, and my dad's listening to this probably and is very resentful of that comment from you because I think he wants me off the plan. And can I be honest with you?
Starting point is 00:51:13 You may. It's been great to not pay $100 a month for my adult life. And I mean, if you add it all up, it's probably, you know, amounted to about 10 grand worth of savings. So thank you, mom and dad. But it's not because I'm trying to skirt the bill. It's the...
Starting point is 00:51:28 It's because you want a phone that doesn't work. it's the have you ever been to a cell phone store and upgraded your phone it's a five hour ordeal like if i like go to like do it on the app they just mail it to you good lord i don't think that if i were to switch off my parents plan and go join my wife's plan because it's funny i'm on my parents plan my wife has her own her own plan like that would be like a she's an adult yeah i just i don't i don't have the patience as a human being to deal with that shit that the line and like what's your what's your pin number on the account i got to call my mom if she can't get face time to work properly it's just it's a nightmare like i just like you you you don't understand
Starting point is 00:52:09 that i don't do well in lines and i don't do well sitting oh i understand perfectly just the reason why it hasn't happened isn't a greed or a taking advantage of financial i would gladly pay the hundred dollars a month it's the avoidance of the nightmare that that day would be part of being an adult is being able to handle the line at the cell phone store I understand that. I struggle with that greatly. I just sent Producer River something that I want him to show you. Okay.
Starting point is 00:52:44 To tie back to what we started this show with, with the SEC and LSU. And they vote on Thursday, where I do not think they're going to kick LSU out of the SEC, but they're trying to make sure they have the authority to do it if they want to. Producer River, please put the graphic on the screen. This is from our friend John Kurtz. has podcast out in Big 12 country, K-State guy. This is almost as good as the,
Starting point is 00:53:16 the Florida State fan in the dark, like the Florida State guy reading at the game with the lamp. This is the LSU logo with the monster logo next to it. It's like, welcome to the Big 12 LSU. Yeah. This might be terrible podcasting, but I have to show, River, put this picture up too, and then we'll get out of here.
Starting point is 00:53:35 But this picture was hilarious to me. Did you see what I just sent, River? the anticipation so you think it's worth the anticipation LSU joining the Sunbelt in 2027
Starting point is 00:53:51 and it's Hillary Clinton in like a regular person's house like disgusted by the poverty of the regular person's house the tiger's just rolling in in Monroe to play the War Hawks it was really funny because obviously, you know,
Starting point is 00:54:11 you know about SMU and like the affluence of of what they're around in like the facilities and the kind of money. And then they go to Florida State and you were the one I think sent the tweet last night. They are appalled by the poverty. Listen, this sport never, ever is without jokes. the shit does not happen in the NFL. No.
Starting point is 00:54:41 What I'm glad to do. Can you imagine if they had to vote to get the Cowboys out of the NFL? Do Andy, like we, like, with anybody ever asked you what you do for a living? You literally say, I cover the circus. It is a circus. And after we finished recording the regular show,
Starting point is 00:55:05 well, it turns out the Mac is going to try to get justice for Western Michigan. So let's talk the Max official protest. Ari, big news coming from that Western Michigan game, the craziest finish we've ever seen, possibly. The Mid-American Conference, home of Western Michigan. Now saying it plans to file a formal appeal, and it has submitted that appeal to the NCAA Division I Football Bowl
Starting point is 00:55:41 Subdivision Oversight Committee and to the college football playoff, saying that the Big Ten did not follow proper protocol when it reviewed the play at the end of the Western Michigan-Michigan game. This was a Hail Mary that was incomplete. The ball was touched by a Western Michigan defender out of bounds. On TV, it looked like it was zero seconds. The replay officials said the clock in the TV broadcast was not synchronized
Starting point is 00:56:11 with the game clock. in the stadium that the replay feed had basically a camera on. And Ari, they gave Michigan another second. They threw a Hail Mary. They won the game 13 to 12. The Mac is contending that because this was handled improperly, the result of the game should be changed.
Starting point is 00:56:34 The game should end with the incomplete pass and Western Michigan should be awarded a 12-7 victory. Yeah, and I think you made a pretty good point right before we started clicking about, like, I don't know if they want to just go back and change the record books. I think they might want the college football playoff committee if this comes into play to view this differently than they might otherwise. Yeah, and so here's their contention. It's not whether the replay review was appropriate. They say it was appropriate.
Starting point is 00:57:06 They say they did not follow the official protocol for replay reviews. And so what that says, according to the Mac, is the replay official slash replay center official then determines whether time should be restored to the game clock based solely upon the game clock insert on the program feed. So what they're saying, the program feed would be the NBC feed. And so since the NBC feed said zero, they are saying that second should not have been added on and the game should end and it should be 12 to 7. This distinction is critical. This is what John Steinbrencker wrote in a letter to the Oversight Committee. The outcome of this game is not changed by a discretionary judgment made within the rules. It was changed because the established procedure for determining whether time remained on the game clock was not followed,
Starting point is 00:57:55 and an unsynchronized clock was used in place of the clock specifically designated by the governing replay protocol. Accordingly, I respectfully request the NTAAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision Oversight Committee recognized Western Michigan as the actual winner of the this contest, 12-7, and takes us action as is within its authority to reflect that determination in NCAA rankings, postseason consideration, and any other NCAA purposes, postseason consideration is the key phrase here, Ari. Yeah. It would be kind of wild if they just went back. I mean, I don't even know, like, have they ever retroactively changed a result of a game
Starting point is 00:58:33 after it happened? Not that I can remember. And it's weird because we always talk about this with different calls. So if this call could change it. The difference is if they hadn't added a second, the game's over. So if you could definitively prove that they incorrectly applied the procedure, anything that happened after it is irrelevant. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:58:54 Yeah, the game would be over. That said, I would be surprised if they got awarded a win here. But again, I think you're on to something. I think this is to make sure, let's say Western Michigan wins the Mac again this year. They won the Mac last year. Remember, the highest ranked
Starting point is 00:59:16 group of six conference champion makes the playoff. Yeah. If the committee views Western Michigan as having a win against Michigan, now a lot of that depends on how Michigan does the rest of the way, that would go a long way toward helping Western Michigan's case.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Now, Western Michigan also plays Boise State at home on September 27th. Boise State is another team that is likely to be in contention for that spot. There's a good chance Boise State wins the Mountain West. They went up to Oregon. They lost this past weekend, but they looked really good doing it. They gave them a really tough game against a really good team. So let's say Western Michigan beats Boise State.
Starting point is 00:59:58 Yeah. And if Western Michigan beats Boise State wins the Mac, if they also have a win against Michigan, or at least if the committee considers it a win against Michigan, Michigan, whether they officially have it or not, that's going to help the Broncos. You know, I think that it's really fun to just like kind of view the college football playoff committee as like a room full of buffoons that can't figure out, you know, anything. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:22 But, you know, I'm pretty sure that if they win the Mac and are in that conversation, then Michigan actually turns out to be a pretty good team that they will already have gotten the benefit of the doubt with or without the statement in terms of how they view that game, right? because I think what the college football playoff committee is trying to do is to try to evaluate teams based on their whole body of work to determine who the best one is. And if you played them down to the last second of a game
Starting point is 01:00:47 and lost on a heartbreaker, you still take that into account even if it's a loss. But I would bet if we pulled the members of the committee, I bet some of them at least would think Western Michigan should be the winner of the game. Right. And I think that they would take that into account regardless of whether they changed the outcome.
Starting point is 01:01:08 of it retroactively. And the other thing that is... I understand the Mac making sure they file the paperwork, keep it going. Right. You want to keep it. You want to make sure that there's an official protocol maybe in order for them to view it that way. But the funniest thing about that is, is they do play Boise. And Boise is going to probably be the team that most people view as the lock to get in if they win the Mountain West, especially considering the fact that they just played a really good team down to the wire too.
Starting point is 01:01:38 That's right. So if you beat Boise, that'll be just as good for your resume as anything else that you could possibly do. So I do think that Western Michigan, if they believe that they are like, you know, we could find out in six weeks here that Western Michigan is badass and Michigan shouldn't be as embarrassed as they are right now because they are a really good team. But, you know, I just, the thing that I don't understand and I still just don't get it and I've read through all the stuff and it kind of makes my head hurt is how and why we even arrive that a place where there was a discrepancy between the two things in terms of the clock. I don't even get how we got there.
Starting point is 01:02:15 Well, exactly. And I think, you know, the Big Ten needs to review its procedure. And I want to hear from the Big Ten on this now, because if that is what the book says that you have to do and you're supposed to use the broadcast feed, well, it's pretty cut and dried. You should have used the broadcast feed. Right. Why were you doing anything different?
Starting point is 01:02:34 Yeah. Protocol is important. They're in place for a reason. We've heard the audio. Like, I don't think that was doctored. I don't think the Big Ten went in and said, well, no, if we do it this way, then our team will get the extra second. Those people were operating under the assumption of what they were doing was correct. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:54 If they were incorrect, then probably everybody doing the replay reviews at these conference offices needs to go back through the training. Yeah. I do love the conspiracy theory stuff and I do love that they were trying to rig the game or people think that they were trying to rig the game not that they were. Do you know how unlikely it is even to add another second
Starting point is 01:03:21 that they would have even completed the final play? Like if you think that the rig job was in, it would have happened a lot sooner. They were rigged it a lot easier than that. Here's the video of the deliberation that the Big Ten released. Where's his left there? We can't see here.
Starting point is 01:03:38 Let's, we're taking a look here. Okay, he's jumping from out of bounds. So when 18 is touching the football, Jim, do you see that? It's dead when he touches the ball. When 18's touching the ball, we've got one second on the clock. Do you see that? I'll just keep you on because I do. But just to hold on.
Starting point is 01:03:53 And we've got him. What is your program fee? Jim, are you with me? Yes. Can you hear me guys? Okay. Yeah, so we are going to put one second on the game clock. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:04 And we're going to have another play from the previous spot. Okay. Okay. So after review, there's one second remaining. Wait, did you hear him save the program feed? Is this the program feed? Play it again, River. Where's his left to us there?
Starting point is 01:04:21 Yeah, like a program. So let's see here. We're taking a look here. Okay, he's jumping from out of balance. So when 18 is touching the football, Jim, do you see that? It's dead when he touches the ball. When 18's touching the ball, we've got one second on the clock. Do you see that?
Starting point is 01:04:36 I'll just keep you on because I do. They want, but just to hold on. And we've got him. Is your program feed? Jim, are you with me? Yes. Can you hear me guys? Yes.
Starting point is 01:04:46 We are going to put one second on the game clock. Yeah. And we're going to have another play from the previous spot. Okay. Okay. So after review, there's one second remaining. He did say that. Somebody's asking is this program feed?
Starting point is 01:05:00 So did they think they, do they think, I don't want to speculate or put words in anybody's mouth? Did they think they were using it? Clearly something dysfunctional. is happening here. Yeah. Yeah. Because like the NBC, the NBC feed does not use an in, like, does not use a cut out with a camera shot of the actual clock. The NBC feed used a graphic that had the clock on it. Yeah. You know what I'm confused about the most? Everything. That's what I am.
Starting point is 01:05:38 My head hurts. But why Steinbrenker was so quick to release a release after the game was over saying it's unfortunate whatever he said, but like kind of agreeing with the Big Ten. You know, somebody in our chat, when we mentioned that, somebody in the chat said, notice he doesn't actually say he thinks they got it right. He just said they accept the explanation. Which is still contradictory to this today. Right, right. So I would be interested to know, now we've got to,
Starting point is 01:06:10 we're going to have to get some back and forth here. We've got to go back to the Big Ten. because who is that saying, is this the program feed? And did they think they had the program feed? Or, you know, again, I'm not going to dive into the conspiracy theory, banana land of this. I lean much more toward honest mistake, just like you do. Yeah. But if an honest mistake was made, it still was made.
Starting point is 01:06:36 Yeah, explain what happened and why it happened that way. Because you and I, as much as we watch college football, football, we haven't memorized the replay officials handbook. So that wasn't something that night that we were going to be very familiar with. Yeah. So this is this is all becoming, you know, this information is different than what we were told the other night. So I guess we will probably have to monitor this story art because I think it's going to keep going. I would love to hear the Big Ten's response to this because in that video you hear them say,
Starting point is 01:07:13 is at the program feed. So I'd love to know what that means and why they were talking about that. So there will be more. I don't think it ultimately results in a win for Western Michigan. But if in, let's say Western Michigan beats Boise State and goes on to win the Mac, in the committee room. Take into account. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:36 I would bet there will be committee members, maybe the majority, maybe all, who view Western Michigan as a winner. of that game. So Broncos, you're going to have to beat the other Broncos. Then you're going to have to win your league. None of this is easy, but good luck. We'll be back here in the big top tomorrow, 3 p.m. Eastern Time on the On3Sports YouTube channel, be sure to subscribe and never miss an episode.
Starting point is 01:08:03 We'll talk to you then.
