Starting point is 00:00:00 This hour of the Bill Myers Show podcast is proudly sponsored by Klauser Dr. Dilling. They've been leading the way in Southern Oregon well drilling for more than 50 years. Find out more about them at Klausurdrilling.com. Joining me is Dr. Dennis Powers, retired professor of business law, author of Where Past Meets Present. That was his latest one that he did a few years ago. You can still get that on Hillgatepress.com. The local publisher here for this, too, and find out more about all the books that Dennis has written over at Dennis Powers Books.com. Dennis, welcome back. Always a pleasure, my friend.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Always a pleasure, Bill. I mean, for the 15 years that we've worked together, which goes back to when I was mentioning, I had a competing offer from another radio network, and you said, can you start Monday? What a wonderful time we've had. What a wonderful time, indeed. Speaking of that radio network, from what I understand, I was reading the JPR costs Southern Oregon University, some $300,000 a year. They've always kind of partnered up to that.
Starting point is 00:01:01 What do you think is going to happen with that? I know there's a lot of conversation on what's going on with JPR. And they have a pretty extensive station and translator network here in Southern Oregon. Do you think that gets pushed off to another foundation? What would you say goes on with that? Well, that is an issue. And my personal feeling is that they're not going to go ahead and spin off JPR. It really is part of the communications department and a number of things.
Starting point is 00:01:33 So they're probably going to tap the brakes on the – on the – what was that the Deloitte? Yeah, the Deloitte report that was suggesting that, right? And that's amazing because they have to find $20 million, you know, in terms of revenue increases and decreases in costs. And they've been doing this for over two years. And the dirty little secret of SOU, no, a Salem, because SCU is doing an amazing job throughout this with President Rick. The key thing is that that $15 million that's banding around, my friend, that cannot come in in any way, shape, or form unless SCU has some 20 million of a change in terms of increase in cash and a decrease. in costs, but it's by June 2027. That's Salem's a little dirty secret.
Starting point is 00:02:33 Well, okay, so this is by 2027 that we're talking about? Yeah. For the 15 million that meanwhile, while our governor is running for re-election with their radical socialist, plus the fact that SOU itself has very quickly, Bill, has gone ahead over the last two years, two years ago, they cut some 40 positions. in terms of professors and administrative staff. Then last year they cut another 12%. This year they've got to do even more.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Now, I wanted to ask you a question about this, because like I said, you were in the business section then. I would imagine being a professor of business law, I would imagine that major was paying for itself back in the day, was it? Absolutely. And not only that, I would have students that would come in to take law, business law, and even a higher-level law, which went into the U.S. Constitution and such, that came in from other different categories. But you had enough people coming in, enough students coming in, to actually...
Starting point is 00:03:47 Up to 60. I'd have a class of 60, but the DEI people were having like five to one. Well, that's what I was wondering, because I saw that there was reporting last week. I think it was NBC5 and maybe it was KDRV. They were all out there and videotaping the protesting Island of Misfit Human SOU students. And when I say Island of Misfit Humans, we're talking about all the LGBTQ plus plus two spirit, whatever that we have going on. And they were all complaining about all of these majors going away, such as gender studies and women's studies. And, of course, everybody has figured out that anything with the studies at the end of it is a Bolstein degree.
Starting point is 00:04:30 You know, it's not going to really pay for itself. So that group is essentially demanding to be subsidized because there aren't enough people taking those classes, from what I understand, to pay for it. That's absolutely right. And you see LGBTQ, especially in a state that has warped as Oregon is with Salem, where we have an LGBT. defined governor and also people that were appointed. Well, that's looked at as a job requirement. It's looked at as a job requirement right now, I guess. 50 states were the only one.
Starting point is 00:05:06 And so what we're seeing here is, again, the fact that the news people, and I'm very disappointed, and I have been over the last 10 years with the news but for KMED that's being reported. It makes no difference whether it's a newspaper, whether it's still an existence, distance or not, they're still going ahead. Like, the key thing in terms of this $15 million is that when you read all the reports and you listen to all the reports as to the overall need and the $15 million, there's just one little sentence in there that states that and the university maintains that there's been less money's coming in from the government, from state government. Yeah, you bet. And so the misleading news that's coming up
Starting point is 00:05:53 is absolutely disgusting. Okay, so, well, I mean, you figured that what's happening in the state of Oregon we're running out of other people's money, you know, essentially, or else what has been prioritized in the state of Oregon has been something other than, then... Oh, right. That's a great point, Bill, and the key thing is, is if you see any Democrat on the ballot, vote for the Republican, and the reason is, is what I've really seen is that our legislator and state representatives here failed miserably when it came to SOU and education in the state, and it's hitting across all the regional institutions.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Well, I'm thinking, though, that I think one of our challenges, though, is that I was reading this article in Oregonian Dr. Powers, and I was talking about this little earlier in the show, and they had done a poll. This is an Oregonian poll from DHS, search that they're going to have to chip away at the big margins in the Mertr regions, right? And yet there was, this is a classic example here. There is a Democrat respondent to the poll. Lisa Highsmith, who responded to this poll from Gresham, is dissatisfied with Tina Kotech. Not happy with what Tina Kotech does. She's a Democrat, and she's been concerned about Oregon's poor education outcomes. This is the quote from her.
Starting point is 00:07:19 She says, I'm just baffled at how a Democrat led straight. led state is struggling with the things that we're struggling with. And she adds, at the same time, is it going to stop me from voting for Democrats? Absolutely not. So. And you see, that's an excellent point, Bill, because we've got to have some Democrats that show common sense who are voters, because the Democrats who are running for office here are like Spanberger. But can it ever get bad enough in the state of Oregon for a Democrat to say,
Starting point is 00:07:53 actually try voting for a Republican for change for governor. And I've seen no evidence of them willingness to, or of a willingness to do that, Dennis. What do you think? I agree with you. And that's the reason why people are leaving Oregon. And when you look at those numbers and such, Oregon is a little California. It's been Californicated. And what we've been seeing are people who are leaving. And it's interesting to listen to your show and also afterwards in terms of people who call up and say, well, I'm leaving Portland. Well, who would want to live in Portland? And you see, the problem is with this death grip that this far-left socialist company party has over Oregon,
Starting point is 00:08:41 we're seeing in people fleeing, and as they flee, you have the Democrat's stranglehold going on. Well, yeah, it's not changing. I'm thinking, though, that... You ever hear a professor Eric Fruits over, used to work for Cascade Policy? Have you ever heard of that man? He lives in the... Hey, I'd be interested in listening. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Dr. Eric Fruits, I spoke with him a few weeks ago. And I think what we're witnessing here in the state of Oregon, and he thinks this, too, is that we're experiencing the Curly effect. Have you ever heard of the Curly Effect, C-U-R-E-Y effect? Oh, I'd like to learn that. Yeah, it's a political way of looking at the world that what happens. is that, and it was named for a guy that ran for Boston mayor back in the day. And what he did is that, you know, he would chase out and attack the businesses and all the
Starting point is 00:09:34 rest of it, and businesses went down and fleed, but they kept political power because as things got worse, the people who remained were more dependent on the government jobs and the handouts and various other things. And Fruits is opining that were experiencing the curly effect that this is a bit of the effect that this is actually a strategy of Democratic Party and control for the state of Oregon. You could make that argument that it doesn't matter how bad it gets because, well, look at this, you know, this one poll responded that said, well, it doesn't matter how bad it gets. I don't like Tina Kotech, but I'm not voting for the Republicans.
Starting point is 00:10:08 It doesn't matter. Yeah, and then what happens is when they get into states like Virginia or Texas, they start bringing their same politics if they're Democrats that plead this. state. But you know, Bill, on that concept, I would call it the lemming expect. The lemming effect, okay. Not the curly. All right. Hey, Doc. It's the same concept. All right. Hey, let me take a quick break on that. And then I want to ask you a few questions about what happened in Virginia, too, because it's still in the news, all right? Be right with you here. Dr. Dennis Powers, retired professor of business law from SOU on KMED.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Building has so many decisions. Layout, design, contractors. Yep, it does. And we're getting nowhere. No. Okay, I'll list off items and let's both say the first thing that comes to mind. House color. Brown. Really? White? Fireplace? Gas. Countertops. Cours. Granted. Well driller? Clouser drilling. Yeah, definitely clouds are drilling, for sure. Finally. At least we can agree on something. Right. I'm hungry. What do you want to eat? For dependable well drilling services, it's unanimous. Visit clauserdrilling.com. You notice it when you walk it, that patio edge that dips, the sidewalk that's just a bit off, the lip and the concrete.
Starting point is 00:11:21 that's been fine for the last three years. Concrete doesn't fix itself. It gets worse. TerraFerma lifts and stabilizes sinking concrete, cracks, and uneven surfaces without full replacement. They can also upgrade your space with epoxy coatings or vubistone finishes for a cleaner, more polished look. Fix it now before it becomes a bigger problem.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Learn more at go terraferma.com. CCB173-547. Gutters and covers, covers and gutters. Yes, you do. You want your covers guttered? Wait, come back. Honey, hey, wake up. What?
Starting point is 00:11:59 Oh, I was having a bad dream. I'm so glad you woke me. You were going on about gutters and covers. You're having trouble at work? No, no. I dreamt I left Fontana roofing and was trying to sell gutters and covers for another company.
Starting point is 00:12:11 It started with hanging door knockers and then cluttering intersections with little signs. Then it escalated to stuffing mailboxes. Then I felt, and myself chasing an elderly couple down the aisle at a home show. Oh, that sounds awful. Good thing Fontana Roofing offers custom gutters,
Starting point is 00:12:29 an industry-leading gutter cover brand and more reasonable commission-free estimates without the pressure and ad clutter. Yeah, but you do think our radio ads are cute. I like this background music at least. Now, sweet dreams, and for the rest of you, don't sleep on Fontana Roofing Services.com. Your World.
Starting point is 00:12:46 The president says the blockade of Iran's ports has been 100% full-proof. It shows how good I'm. Navy is, I can tell you that. Nobody's going to play games. Your news. The Chair Jerome Powell. The FOMC decided to leave our policy rate unchanged. Stay connected.
Starting point is 00:13:00 Parts of my party and parts of the media now have turned the Iranian regime into the underdog. And it's like, wow, you know, it's, you know, almost cheering them for the thing. It's crazy. This is News Talk 1063, KMED. News Talk 1063, KMED. This is the Bill Myers Show. is back. Hey, Dennis, tell us what happened with Virginia. It looks like the Virginia Supreme Court could be under attack by the governor. The governor, I think it was Heikim Jeffries actually
Starting point is 00:13:32 asking the state to fire the Supreme Court and get a new Supreme Court now. Otherwise known as the Age of Rage by Hakeem. I guess so. I guess so. And you see, what it was was the fact that you had the 20-20, congressional map in Virginia, which is a purple state. It has slightly more registered Democrats than Republicans. And in there, they had the map was six to five in terms of districts favoring Democrats. But what they did was Spamberger, which is why you've got to be careful not to listen to any legislative people who are the Democrats running here. Spamberger went ahead and said, oh, I'm a moderate, then became the radical socialist that she's always
Starting point is 00:14:26 been. But what happened is that she rounds up with Hakeem. They poured in $70 million for a map that would have given the Democrats a 10 to one advantage in the delegation of the House. Well, the ruling specifically, Bill, was that since this was passed by the legislature on this map, while early voting for an election had already started, it denied the voters the opportunity to properly consider the issue. And it was a four to three decisions that came in that invalidated the special election, which they threw in the legislature in Spanberger, said, oh, I got my chance to run for vice president of the country, and there they're going. The Virginia Democrats have announced intentions to appeal the decision.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Now, would that be an appeal to the Supreme Court? Yes, to the Supreme Court. And also, what's happening there is that they're floating it from another academic professor that went ahead and stated, well, you can go ahead and lower the age of retirement to 53 from where it can be 73, and that way you can get rid of them all. Oh, you get rid of all the oldsters then. In other words, you need to get rid of in Virginia, apparently, you need to get rid of the 73-year-old judges who still know how to read the state constitution, right?
Starting point is 00:16:02 Yeah, and you see, what really gets me, my friend, is the fact that when Democrats are demonstrating saying no kings, the key thing is is that their kings are going to be Obama, the radicalized radical, and Soros. Yeah, well, it sure sounds that way. It's a communist party of five that rule. Well, it'll be interesting then to see what happens with the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court, now, if the Supreme Court of the United States chooses not to take the appeal of the Democrats and the redistricting map case in the Commonwealth of Virginia, Does that mean it's over at that point or not? Yes, for this year for these elections coming up in November.
Starting point is 00:16:47 But you see, the thing that I've seen about the Democratic Party, which has lurched so far to the left, is that there's no such thing as losing. It's just having, and what you need to do, everything counts to go ahead and to win, no matter what you do to win. Well, yeah, just come back and go at it from a different angle, all right? They're very persistent about that. I have to admire because, you know, it happens with a Republican a lot of times. Well, I lost.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Okay, thanks. Got to go. Yeah, you know, Bill, that's a very valid point because the silk stocking crew that really wants power as bad as the Democrats just can't roll up their sleeves and get down and dirty that we sound like the Democrats do, which is what Republicans need to do if they're going to win in November instead of going ahead and all this good talk and no action. Yeah, I wanted to, you know, get your take on it. That's been my concern about the Republicans running for Senate, or not for Senate, rather. That's been my concern about the top three or four candidates running for Oregon governor, you know, on the Republican side.
Starting point is 00:17:54 You've been paying attention to those races, haven't you? Yeah, yeah, and I have your same fear. Let me listen to what you're going into. Yeah, well, my fear has always been that you're not running against Tina Kotech right now, just to talk about how bad Tina Kotech. is, well, all the Republicans already know that. We'll tell us something we don't know. What makes you the better person to pick up the Republican, you know, the Republican medal, so to speak, and run across the race? What is it about you that makes you different?
Starting point is 00:18:23 And they seem to be very reticent about fighting amongst themselves for some reason, and I don't understand that because if you're not willing to fight each other right now, how the heck you're ever going to get a chance to fight Tina after the fall? I mean, I just don't see that happening. You either fight right now or forget about it. I agree, and part of the reason is that I even found myself involved in politics as to knocking on doors, and you've got to get out the vote if that's what you want to do. The Republican Party, especially in here and other places, need to get out and get the vote out. Well, it's more than getting the vote out there.
Starting point is 00:19:03 You have to whip up enthusiasm for your people. Agreed. Just not being, not being Tina Kotech is not enough to win a primary, in my opinion. Just saying it. That's all. Well, I would certainly say, yes, it's right, because when we're looking at the overall scene, you know, Oregon, we have both seen Oregon really lurched to the left over the years that we've been here. And I can remember when there was much more common sense, not only in terms of Ashland, but also throughout.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Yeah. What we see, for example, is let's say, what is it, Denise Krauss? Some of these people that are running have gone ahead, and they've lost several times. But they have the ability to go ahead and say, well, I'm going to run another time because here's how I'm going to win. Yeah. Well, I know that you've heard now, though, that they're going after Denise Krauss, and this is probably an attack. I wonder if that came from Tanya Morrow, you know, the attorney, because, you know, all of a sudden there's all these concerns about, ooh, the, the, the, the, the, the, uh, the, the. Oh, gosh, what they call it, the consultant for Denise Krause, you know, had some accusations, some bad accusations of abuse or something like that.
Starting point is 00:20:16 And, of course, Krause says she's going to keep going here. But I think that that must be an intramural kind of squabble, which is going on right now. Yeah. And what was the person, Bill, who was running and was, I think, was running against Greg Walden. and she had this woo-woo postings. Oh, yeah, yeah. She was the one that was talking about that. You talked about this in the history of Mount Shasta,
Starting point is 00:20:44 that the Lemurians, she had the posting about the Lemurians inside Mount Shasta. And as a moment she was running against Walden, and she had that taken down. Yeah. Yeah, it disappeared quickly. All right. I never said that. All right, but still, got to have fight.
Starting point is 00:21:00 You got to have fight. And I think if you show fight right now, especially for the Republican faithful, they would actually be encouraged to see some fight going in here, rather than just milk toast ads. You know, Chris Dudley, I'm going to stand tall, you know, for Oregon. And then you have Christine Drazen. I'm going to, you know, I am ready to lead. You know, it's like, does it really stir the imagination, Doc?
Starting point is 00:21:24 You know what I'm getting at here? Does it make me like? The same consideration, my friend, as you see in California, where they're talking about the Republican two camps. candidates are leading. But if you add up their votes and take a look to all of the Democrats that are running, you can see that what happens is that there's really an odd on unfortunate probability that the Democrats will continue. Again, because of the fact, as you point out, there's nothing fair about how Democrats are going to get elected to office. They just say, hey, we're like you guys. And then all of a sudden, it's like, hello.
Starting point is 00:22:01 And, you know, as if I love how the Democrats run on, boy, we're just like you, and everyone's complaining, and they're all complaining at the same time about how bad Democrat or how bad California is, but they've been the ones in control. And there just seems to be no connection. But all right. All right, Doc, I'll tell you what, let's do the pallet cleanser next here in just a moment, okay? You want to do that? Yeah, we'll talk a little bit. We'll talk a little bit of history here to wrap it up, and we're going to go out on the water with a paddle. And, well, a lot of paddles here.
Starting point is 00:22:31 next on the Bill Meyer show. Don't Portland, Southern Oregon. What works for Portland politicians doesn't work here, and I won't let them force it on us. I'm Duayne Younger. Your Oregon State representative from Josephine County in Grants Pass. In Salem, Southern Oregon is a minority,

I'd be honored to earn your vote. Paid for Yonker for State Representative, PAC ID, 23. 3.071. KMED news, here's what's going on. Oil prices up more than 2% this morning over continued tension in the Middle East wars. President Trump rejecting the latest piece offering from Iran. Even so, the price of gas and diesel in Southern Oregon has actually gone down a couple of cents over the last week. AAA Oregon reports a gallon of regular is 534 in Grants Pass, 533 in Medford, diesel and grants pass 619 per gallon, a penny more in Medford. A year ago at this time, both gas and diesel
Starting point is 00:24:00 were just a little over four bucks a gallon. Meanwhile, a renewable energy project, Oregon's first floating solar power project, was unveiled Friday. The Daily Courier reports the Medford Irrigation District has more than 1,700 floating solar panels on one of their reservoirs, which is just outside of Jacksonville. The panels generate solar power for the district's pumps, since surplus power can be sold into the grid. Some will go to our area's sewage treatment plant. The panels also help produce evaporation, a plus in this drought year. The project costs $3.8 million. Panels estimated to generate some 2 million kilowatt hours of energy per year.
Starting point is 00:24:38 And a lot of economic development projects in Southern Oregon are designed around getting more tourism dollars flowing here. However, a report in Oregon Live indicates the money coming in from tourism while going up isn't keeping up with inflation. An annual study done for Travel Oregon says travel to Oregon went up a little more than 1% last year. Sluggish growth at best. visits from Canada and international tourism down sharply since 2019. The study indicates a bounce back by the end of this decade. Bill Meyer, KMED News. This hour of the Bill Meyer Show is sponsored by Fontana Roofing.

Jackson County OR.gov slash elections. Your county clerk's office, making sure your vote counts. Welcome to the Bill Myers Show on 1063 KMED. Dr. Dennis Powers, the history profile for this morning. How do you pronounce Chris's last name? Corbelic.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Corbelic, okay. Yeah. I don't know if we've ever talked about him, though, but it's about kayaking the world and he's our history profile for this morning, huh? Tell us more. And it's really quite a story because of the fact that Chris Corbelick is an extreme sports adventurer, extreme kayaker. Translation, adrenaline junkie, right? Oh, I tell you.
Starting point is 00:28:37 And, you know, for all of us that thought, gee, what I could do when I was younger, and then, you know, we all have to make tradeoffs to earn a living. Chris graduated from Krantz Pass high school back about 2004, 20 plus years ago. Yeah. And he was then kayaking actually in high school. And he's now like a full-time extreme kayaker. This is his business, really, isn't it? Yes. And the thing was he was doing Class 5 Rapids on the Upper Road.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Well, Judy and I were kayakers. and we did a few class five, only to know that it was just because we didn't see him when we were coming down with the group we were in, and we decided we'd never want to do a class five. Well, he goes ahead being Chris and decides that he's going to do waterfalls. So his fame then grew with the size of the waterfalls he survived. He did an 80-footer in the Salmon River Canyon, and I've been through there. That is amazing. But then his highest one was 120 feet over Rainbow Falls on the big island of Hawaii, but he would have a lot of close calls.
Starting point is 00:29:59 And one of them was the fact he was in the remote Congo in the Laguga River that was totally risky with crocodiles and hippos. And he had with his partner a guy by the name is Cusbury, but he was then with a guide going down. down the Lukuga River, L-U-K-U-K-U-G-A, the Kuga River, and then a 15-foot crocodile bypasses Corbuluk launches into the surface, comes down crashing onto their guide, takes the guide down, and that guide's body was never recovered. And he then went into glacial kayaking, lots of throughout the world. Yeah, well, at least glacial kayaking, you don't have to worry about the crocodiles, right? Well, that's where you have the polar bears.
Starting point is 00:30:48 Oh. You lose one predator and gain another. I forgot about that. As I remember, he had a World War II-era rifle in case he encountered polar bears in his glacial kayaking. He throughout had a sponsorship with Eddie Bauer. He was named, along with his partner, Ben Stokesbury, actually he was the name of the 50-month-month-old. both adventurous men by men's journal, 2020 Whitewater Photographer Award, all these different things. But, you know, then you would say to yourself, boy, is that a life?
Starting point is 00:31:27 Because then, you know, you'd be able to, you know, try to not do the waterfalls. Well, what happened was that this caught up over the years with Chris. Oh, the physicality of this. This would have to be pretty much abusive to the body, huh? 100% right. And he said that his back consistently heard from years of paddling and bouncing down right. If you take a look at bouncing down a waterfall, and you have to hit at the bottom, especially if it's 80 to 120 feet. That's going to be a mighty crash on your entire body. Oh, yeah. So what happened? Was it spine surgery? Something like that over time?
Starting point is 00:32:08 Yes. He had dys surgery. It was three years ago. He is living in Goldhill. He's married. He's been in and out of physical therapy even now. But on the other hand, he became very philosophical. And when you look at the posts that he's done, including the most recent one, he posits an Albert Camus line, which was the fame French philosopher and existentialist novelist. And that was someone I had read it in an honors course years ago, Camus, got the, you know, Pulitzer Prize and lots of prizes throughout. But the line is, and this is interesting, Bill, his line, and this is what Chris Corbillock puts on his, on the website on Kokata.
Starting point is 00:33:01 There is no sun without shadow, and it is essential to know the night. And I thought about that, and I said, that is really good. You have to have the darkness to be able to know the contrast with the light. Yes. And also, you can be optimistic or see the sun, but you've got to understand there's another side to life, which is the night. And he lives in Gold Hill now, right? Yes, yes, he does. And, you know, very interesting life and background.
Starting point is 00:33:39 You know, he has like 4,000 followers on Facebook. The Facebook is really a good place to go ahead, Bill, and to keep up with what he's doing. Instagram, he has like 9,000 followers. I mean, he has really lived a life, although those of us with bad backs understand, but his was much younger because of the extreme danger he was going through. Well, you understand that anybody is doing kind of a pro-athlete thing, and that's a very athletic sport or what he was doing, his activity, kayaking in the extreme world.
Starting point is 00:34:18 It's no different than, well, you even see Chris Dudley, as an example, from those years of the Trailblazer. You can always see that kind of look, the impact on the body, what it has to you. It's always, it always leaves its mark, doesn't it? There's no way of avoiding that. It does. And, you know, I can, you know, as I think about Judy and my kayaking expedition, where we did every single river throughout Oregon into California,
Starting point is 00:34:50 is that I can remember when a friend of mine who was a very good kayaker said, well, there's going to be some rapids ahead. And all of a sudden I look at them and I say, Are you freaking kidding me? Well, that's okay. Chris would have gone through his ass, nothing. Okay. Yeah, and then he would add a waterfall to it.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Yeah, it's just a day. It's just a day on the water for Chris back in the day, all right. Hey, great story, though, Chris Corbillick. And once again, that profile on, we'll put that up on KMED.com. And I always appreciate that. Kayaking the world. Duck, good week for you, and we'll catch you next week. All right.

Central Point Family Dentistry.com is the website. It's on Freeman Road. I was going to say Freeman Way, but it's actually Freeman Road right next to the Mazelon Mexican restaurant,
Starting point is 00:38:19 kind of in the vicinity of Albertsons in Central Point. Okay? All right. And a lot of people writing this morning, Patrick writes me, Bill, you know, there have been a couple of airlines in the news lately. Spirit Airlines were going bankrupt and Frontier Airlines for striking an intruder. This is just an idea, but it would seem to be marketing genius if the two airlines would merge and become Frontier Spirit. I like it.
Starting point is 00:38:52 Patrick, I like it. I like it a lot. Yeah, that was kind of weird what happened over the weekend with Frontier. And from what you can tell, they struck some guy who just trespassed out onto the runway. And I think most of them went to the engine. Yikes. Clean up on runway one, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:14 They were talking about finding limbs on the runway. Yeah, it's not pretty. Not pretty at all. David writes me, Bill, I'm getting tired of women complaining that we in the pro-life movement are interfering with their reproductive rights. As far as we are concerned, they can reproduce all they want. They just can't murder what they reproduce. All right, David, I appreciate the opinion on that one.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Randy weighs in from Ashland, says Bill, under the heading of, be careful what you wish for, Europe's open, woke border policy has resulted in today's near Muslim majorities in Europe's public education system. If the current trend continues within a couple of years, Muslim students will be the majority enrolled in Europe's public schools, surging by the number of Muslim offspring. Muslims multiply like rabbits there. Birth rates are a serious consideration these days, all things considered, Bill.
Starting point is 00:40:07 They do have higher birth rates. Wokism drove Europe's open border policy over a generation ago. Muslim migration pounced on it, resulting in near Muslim majorities in Europe's public education system. Soon that's well, will elect Muslim majority control of government. Now, the same policies that promoted LGBTQ2 plus and open borders will ultimately back. fire, Muslims will enforce policies that condemn the very woke LGBTQ2 plus policies that allowed Muslims to overrun the countries. The new majority will impose strict border control, limiting immigration and tourism.
Starting point is 00:40:41 And once Muslims hold majorities in government, the woke agenda is DOA. Good point about that. And thank you very much, Randy. Now, coming up tomorrow, I would have to mention on Pebble in Your Shoe Tuesday, something that I was reading. In fact, I reported on it in the news earlier this morning from Oregon Live. This was a study which came out for the state. Oregon visitor spending stalls faces fresh headwinds.
Starting point is 00:41:08 And it was really interesting because they were talking about how over the last, actually since 2019, we've lost about 19, 20% of tourism here to the state of Oregon. International tourists aren't coming here. 18% fewer Canadians. I think it's 19% fewer tourists coming here from everywhere else. This has been going on since 2019. And they're still tending to blame the pandemic. There may be some other things going on here right now.
Starting point is 00:41:37 But everything that you look at when it comes to economic growth here in the state of Oregon, it seems to be, hey, all we have to do is attract more tourists and everything will be okay. This even includes our multi-million dollar ball field proposed for down. downtown Medford or elsewhere, all right? And what I might post to you tomorrow is that is it time to stop the tourism as being the only way that we grow economically? Maybe we talk about that on Pebble in Your Shoot Tuesday. The email of the day on the Bill Meyer show, sponsored by Central Point Family Dentistry. See all they have to offer at central point family dentistry.com and call for an appointment. Dr. Steve Nelson and his staff are next to Mazadlan Mexican Restaurant
Starting point is 00:42:20 just off Pond.
