Starting point is 00:00:00 This hour of the Bill Meyer Show podcast is proudly sponsored by Klauser Drilling. They've been leading the way in Southern Oregon well drilling for more than 50 years. Find out more about them at Klauserdrilling.com. Now more with Bill Meyer. A pleasure to welcome back Alvin Louis, who is president of Courage is a habit. Interesting story that Alvin is covering this morning. And it's going down the national debate over biological men in women's sports. and it's been a big, big deal.
Starting point is 00:00:31 I know that Chris Dudley, when he was running for governor, made that a major part of his primary race. He didn't win the primary race, but he was bringing up a lot. As a former basketball player for the Trailblazers, he believed in it quite strongly. Alvin, welcome back. Good to have you on. Morning. Hey, thank you.
Starting point is 00:00:48 We'll be back. It's always a pleasure. Yeah. First off, before we move forward, courage is a habit.org. What are you all about there? I mean, I like the, you know, courage. We all love courage, but what's this about? Well, we believe that most of the problems that we're having in this country is because people made fear a habit, and they're not speaking up.
Starting point is 00:01:06 And so we really believe that if people spoke up more and say the things that the left-wing ideologues say you can't say, we would go a long way in solving most of our problems because so much of it is emotional blackmail and language contamination, things like trans or illegal aliens. And say, you should say more of it. And this is why we believe courage is a habit. But our organization focuses on government KP12, the indoctrination of children, because obviously that's where the children goes, there goes to country. Sure. And so we make beautiful tools, actionable tools for parents to know how to protect their kids or pull their kids, whatever decisions the families make. We really want to provide tools and turnkey solutions, tactics to help them battle all the gaslighting and all the emotional blackmail and all the deflections and lies that the government K312 tells parents. And so we really focus on a very offensive mindset about attacking the indoctrination in K-12.
Starting point is 00:02:04 And you think about the indoctrination that comes through this, Alvin, to your point. And I was talking with another guest yesterday about how they were asking for federal help to maybe put ratings on kids' television shows because the left-wing indoctrination is so heavy and so embedded into Hollywood productions for children's TV shows that they'll reboot old. TV shows as an example like my little pony and now it's my little trans pony and my little right you know I'm a gender indeterminate you know kind of things and you have parents that are going out there they send their kids off to the indoctrination center then they put them in front of the Netflix stream and then they put them in front and then they have Disney plus streaming on the phone when they're in the grocery store to the kids and then they wonder what are these goods
Starting point is 00:02:54 going to be like 10, 12 years from now when they're adults, right? Isn't that what we're looking at? That's exactly what we're looking at. Because you send them, because the government K-12 is an indoctrination, it's a Marxist indoctrination center. That's the purpose of government K-12. So many Americans still believe that government K-12's purpose is academics, and we're just, if we can only get the pesky social justice activist teachers out of the way, there is no out of the way. That is the purpose of the system. If your child, for the kids who are actually, getting a little bit of academics, that's by accident. And so if you're sending kids there seven hours a day and you're putting them in front of
Starting point is 00:03:30 social media or these Netflix shows, and yes, of course, your child has zero chance that they're not going to be indoctrinated in one form or another. I have a very easy rule of thumb, and then we can get back to talking about, you know, the purpose of my show today or my segment today. Here's a rule of thumb. That's super easy. Don't let your child watch anything created after 2012. Simple as that.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Wow. Oh, there are not some shows in 2013 or 14. I'm simply saying that if you make 2012 your cut off 2013, then you're fine. So even if it's any reboot or remake is a 99% chance is going to be woke. Because they're relying on parents' nostalgia to not pay attention. Also, even if you're showing your kid, let's say this has a show at 10 seasons. And then the show started in like 2009, 2010. The first seasons, the first five or six seasons are going to be fine, and then the parents stopped watching because they've watched the first season.
Starting point is 00:04:28 They're like, oh, this is great. It's that last seven, eight, nine seasons when they've got a bigger audience is when they sneak the stuff in. So instead of chasing around and doing all these things, which parents, I mean, it's, you know, it's like, it's like a whack-a-mole, right? I just cut it off. 2012, that's my, you know, from what we do, our courage as a habit, there is my rule of thumb for all parents. Here's my hack. Don't show your child anything past 2012. They are not missing anything.
Starting point is 00:04:50 What is significant about the year 2012? There really isn't anything significant. It's just that that is when Hollywood, you know, after 2013, 2014 is when they really started inserting a lot of the political stuff. Not to the degree that we're seeing from 2020 and on, but they were already building that platform. And then once 2020 hit, then it really, really took off. So there was nothing significant about 2012. is just in our observation and what we do, if you really want to quick hack, anything beyond 2012, you're safe. Okay, very good.
Starting point is 00:05:26 By the way, I'm talking with Alvin Louis, and he's the president of Courage is a habit. Courage is a habit.org where these tools are that we're talking about right now. There's another weekend which a trans athlete in California was up on stage with a biological woman. And, of course, they were, I guess, co-champions in a California race of some sort. I forget exactly what it was. And I'm looking at that, and Alvin, I'm thinking, man, what a humiliation ritual. There's these three girls that were honestly winning their category. And there's the dude with no hips, straight legs and everything else.
Starting point is 00:06:02 But, you know, identifying as a female. And there he is, you know, up there. And we're all supposed to believe the lie in this humiliation ritual. And I wanted to find out where is this coming from? because I've been wondering, where are the feminists? Why are women tolerating this? Women tend to be very politically powerful these days. It's not 1957, all right?
Starting point is 00:06:27 What happened? Well, what happened is that we had our empathy and our kindness weaponized against us. The transgender cult really only has two powers. And no matter where I go in the country, I always tell parents this. I always tell good Americans this. If you drop them of these two things, they have no power. The first one is they weaponize your empathy and your kindness. That's it.
Starting point is 00:06:51 They tell you about, you know, kids are killing themselves and their suicide and all these different things and you're, you know, trying to prevent them for being sports. It depends on good people having some level of understanding and trying to compromise and some kind of tolerance. If you embrace exclusion, which is our big motto, reject inclusion and embrace exclusion, if you don't, if you rob them of your empathy and your kindness, that, they have nowhere to go because it depends on that because they can't obviously argue on facts or logic or common sense or anything like that because obviously everybody knows there's no such chance as a trans child this is all this is purely a brainwashing this is purely brainwashing purely child abuse started in the schools and then of course you know further on social media but if parents we don't need to argue there's no there's no debate there's no science this is all emotional blackmail it's all about weaponizing your empathy that's the first thing second thing they depend on language language contamination, meaning that they use your vocabulary, but not your dictionary. And so they'll say things like, don't you have empathy, don't you have compassion? And of course, good people say yes. Well, of course I have empathy and compassion. But I would say, yeah, but I don't, but I'm not going to have compassion for a lie. I'm not going to do this. No. Well, what they mean is that they want your daughters to have compassion for the man that's taken their trophies and then watching them shower afterwards. So when they say empathy, they don't mean it the same way you and I do, hence are. our training tool called language contamination, they use your vocabulary but not your dictionary. And so if you, then you cannot treat them that they're approaching in good faith because everything that the transgender cult talk, as soon as they open their mouth, it's bad faith.
Starting point is 00:08:34 There's bad faith and they're trying to manipulate your emotions. So as long as you rob them of language, this is why they are so militant about pronoun enforcement because they need you to play along by agreeing with their lunatic transgender language. So he goes, you got to call him a her. Otherwise, she's going to insert emotional blackmail. Right. So if you go, no, it's a him. But it's going to hurt his feelings.
Starting point is 00:09:03 He feels unseen. He's going to go kill himself. And you go, okay, well, he shouldn't, but okay, it's still a him. Yeah. If you take that indifferent approach, they have nothing. It everything depends on language language is huge for the transgender cult and if you pay attention to how what what they what they pound on and what they're militant on especially for kids you've got to use the right pronoun why are they so militant because if they cannot get you to take the knee on language they can't let they can't get you to take the knee on the boy standing in the podium the boy didn't get on the podium yesterday they only got there after the bathroom. After the, and then the bathroom didn't get there right away. It was language. It was name change. That's how they worked you up to it. If people said, no, I am not calling him or her.
Starting point is 00:09:56 I'm not calling her or him. I'm not calling Judy Joe. If every American stood their ground at that moment, then they can't. There is not, you and I wouldn't be talking about this. We'd be talking about a different topic. Elvin, what about the concept of, in the trans community, dead naming? You know what that's all about in which, oh my gosh, you did name that person. You called them the name that is dead to them. And how do you counter that? Same thing exactly what I said. Just say that you ignore it.
Starting point is 00:10:27 So my name is Jane. Don't call me Joe. All right, Joe. You just keep doing it, huh? There's nothing, yeah, there's nothing. There's no, you know, conservatives have a bad habit of trying to use a lot of facts and logic and a lot of reason too complicated. That only works when you're talking to somebody with equally good faith.
Starting point is 00:10:50 It doesn't work when someone's dead set on manipulating and dominating your life and taking your children from you. That's what the transgender cult is. So what conservatives have a bad habit on is that they're too verbose. It's too much facts, too much logic, not enough tactic. Not enough indifference. So you're just saying the tactic, you just go, hey, you just tell the truth. That's all there is to it.
Starting point is 00:11:12 done. Yeah. All right, Joe. You're telling the truth. You just, you know, don't call me a ma'am. Don't call me a ma'am. I'm not a sir. Okay, sir.
Starting point is 00:11:20 All right. Okay. By the way, Alvin Louis is with me. President of Courage is a habit. And I like your courageous talk here. Now, you ended up doing a forensic analysis of, you know, there's an example that you bring up on the site. And it's about Indiana House District 40 candidate.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Will Coulter Raines. Is that how you pronounce his name? I'm not sure. Sure, I think you're probably pretty close. Yeah, but anyway, it was this candidate stance on biological men in female-only spaces, right? And you ended up tracking the interactions from various posters, people who were posting on this by gender stance and strategy. What did you discover in this? And this has to do with the weaponization, I think, going back to the weaponization of female empathy and compassion.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Yes, and so, you know, oftentimes when I come on shows, wonderful shows like yours, if I have the privilege to, We talk about exactly what we just said, a lot of, you know, some theories and principles, some tactics. But I wanted to produce something that people can actually see at the most micro level, not on a high level, not at a, you know, on a state level, but literally at a local level that they can duplicate in their own neighborhood. And so you're quite right. There's a candidate here in District 41 running, and he's obviously, you know, this woke white, weak guy. And he posted this long rambling. And again, for anybody that wants to download this, is on Courage's ahabit.org right now under tool of the week. And it's called ERAZer of Women.
Starting point is 00:12:50 The Erasure of Women. So Courage is a Habit.org. Download erasure of women. And you'll see he had this long rambling Facebook post. And he took every single gaslighting, every single lie, every single deflection, bad faith argument from the transgender cult and threw it in this, you know, in this stew. And when you read it, it's nonsensical. this long word salad. And all of it was so that he can justify mentally ill men in women, sports, and locker rooms and spas and prisons and things like that. So when you're scanning through,
Starting point is 00:13:21 when I was scanning through the comments, I noticed that the majority of people that agreed with him were women. And this is Indiana. These are just, these are just woke, white suburban women. So the women are embracing their erasure, is what you're saying? Yes, they are. Yes, they are. It's the re-rasure of women by women. Now, what's interesting is so we said, I said, okay, well, I'm making kind of a, scan, I'm scanning and making the observation, but I really wanted to get it down to like one plus one equals two. I want it down to the math. So we took this thread and we crunched 176 comments with 111 unique posters. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:57 And we found that 92% of women supported what this rambling word salad and the transgender cult and what he, what he's pushing for for Indiana. 92% and 99% of the initial pushback, meaning that if you saw someone push back, which isn't a lot, right, and initially, 99% of it were men. So it's really the women attacking women in the transgender called, and men are on the front line of the defense. This is weird. Yes. Yes. If you're talking about percentage, yes. Now, that being said, shamefully, and I'm going to call out the men here, 45% of the,
Starting point is 00:14:38 of men were also in support of this weak white transgender cultists, this white guilt guy. And all the guys who do this have a huge amount of white guilt. That's like one for one. They have a lot of white guilt. They hate Trump. They call everybody Nazis. They don't like. It goes hand in hand.
Starting point is 00:14:59 But we found that a lot of these white guilt guys also push for the transgender cult. They want to be able to walk into a woman's bathroom and pretend to be a girl. you know and so we found that 45% of men supported it but 99% of the pushback the initial pushback were from men so basically you know in the 176 comments there was really only in 111 unique posters there was really only like three women or five women that that were against it right and so we wanted to do that that was like kind of our first our first pass at it then we also wanted to show everybody the tactics that the supporters used and so we literally listed all 111 posts and we basically listed out the tactics they used. And so whether there's men or women, the people who supported this guy, they either hit behind experts. They defer to experts. So they deferred to experts to justify their... Oh, the tyranny of experts.
Starting point is 00:15:56 Yeah, yeah, yeah. The tyranny of experts, exactly right. Like the American Academy of Pediatrics have long been taken over by the transgender cult. So they just hide behind experts. The second thing that they did was they always deferred to the doctors. was they always defer to government. If that legal was a law say about it. And then the third is what we talked about, emotional blackmail.
Starting point is 00:16:14 What's it to you? Why is it your business? You just want to harm people. You're just being, you know, not you're bigot. You're transphobe. You're not inclusive. And so we listed out everybody. We listed everybody by name.
Starting point is 00:16:25 So it's not like we're making these people up. And then we're listing them about if they support it or not, what their gender is, and then the tactic that they use. And so the women mostly used emotional blackmail. the men were, the men who supported it, these weak, you know, weak white guilt-filled guys. Yeah, the ones that do kind of the cucks, right? That's the, that's the shorthand for those type of people. The cucks, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:48 The cucks, they were more, they were trying to be more aggressive to shut the other men down from protecting women. So they were doing a lot of the projecting about, like, you just hate women and you just want to control women and that kind of thing, even though literally the other 55% of men were saying, No, I'm not. No, no, listen, we love women. We actually love women in which to protect women, and we want women, women, female. Thank you very much. That's it. That's right.
Starting point is 00:17:16 That's right. So, you know, we basically, you know, we wanted to get a blueprint to anybody that is so easy to read. This is not like this huge white paper. It's just literally we crunched the comments. You and I and everybody listening to this show have read at this. point millions, if not tens of millions of Facebook comments and Facebook posts, right? And so we wanted to just analyze it, just isolate it in Indiana, right, in the suburbs of Indiana. And we wanted to show everybody like, look, this is the playbook on this is what you can expect when you go and stand
Starting point is 00:17:53 up for women and for children and for fairness in women's sports, their privacy and their locker rooms and spas. This is how it is. And now the reason why I wanted to show that is oftentimes good people, and what I said at the top of the hour here, we get our kindness and our empathy weaponize against us. Because when you're in it, you just have this knee-jerk reaction to try to explain yourself. But my hope is that when you take this blueprint and you read it in out, you know, there's no emotion, no one's attacking you.
Starting point is 00:18:21 You're not attacking anybody. You're reading it and you're going, okay, I see that this honesty. And it makes it easier the next time when you're faced with it for you to be more indifferent and to watch your emotions and watch your empathy and not let that get jacked around. And so we really want to. to give everyone this blueprint. And also our argument is we can duplicate this case study in any town
Starting point is 00:18:41 and suburb in any part of the country and will probably be anywhere between three to five percent off, meaning that we might find a town where there's 95 percent of women that are supporting this. We might find a town that may be 89 percent or 88 percent. But it's going to be within that three to five percent range because, you know, at our work of courage and courage and habit, we do, you know, we're in many different states, working with parents. We find out. We find out. this to be so true. And it's the first time we kind of put it, you know, what we already instinctively knew from our experience. This is the first time that we produced something like this. And, you know, I'm super excited to put it out. We're proud of it. And I think it's a great
Starting point is 00:19:19 tool that every Ameri can use. And you don't need any prerequisites. You don't need to have any, you know, understanding the acronyms. It's literally just basic data. All right. Courage is a habit.org. Let me grab a quick call for you here, Alvin. I hope it's for you. Hi, good morning. You want to talk with Alvin Louis. Good morning. I'm excited. Put it out. Okay, you got to listen to the phone, not the radio. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Well, you lose your chance to talk. But I'll tell you what, Alvin, I appreciate you being on. I will direct everybody to that site because it's an excellent playbook that you have. This is the counterplaybook. In other words, first off, you never, you don't buy in the lie. You don't buy into the lie, first place, right? The pronouns, everything like that. And we will have you back.
Starting point is 00:20:02 And you've taken donations and things like that to. to do these kind of works and studies? What are you doing? Well, absolutely. Absolutely. We are a nonprofit. We're very small team. And so whether you share our work or you donate $10 to us every month or you give us a one-time $25 donation, it really helps us pay for things like subscriptions because we do a live stream and, you know, we got to pay our subscription, you know, to do the live stream. We want to, you know, do advertising and, you know, we travel to different states to present something like this. And so, you know, so all those, I mean, anytime someone donates to us, it really does go a long way because we, we want to do
Starting point is 00:20:34 are very lean and we hit heart. And so any support for us, certainly from the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate it. All right, Alvin, Louie, Courage is ahabit.org. Starting point is 00:30:01 Not only is it Memorial Day weekend coming up, but it is also Boatnik weekend. Jim Thompson from the Grants Pass Active Club is in here. How many years you've been with Active Club? 33, I believe. 30. Big number. 33 years.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Of course I was 12 when I got in. Yeah, of course. And Jim is one of these people. He's kind of like sounding like a marriage, like 33. long years. But anyway, great seeing you. Well, thank you. Welcome to the show. So actually, Botenick is starting tomorrow with the carnival.
Starting point is 00:30:33 And then the big shows, I guess, start on the weekend. And shows coming. Yeah, on Friday. Yeah. Yeah, tomorrow's our soft opening. It's Family Day, $4 per ride. Davis shows, we've been working with them for over 40 years. Great family.
Starting point is 00:30:46 He met its wife in Grants Pass. Sure. Absolutely. It truly is like family with us. And so it's a little quieter, but we're, we're, Still, all the vendors will be there, and it's a great night. Okay, you have funnel cake? Got to have funnel cake. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Yeah, those guys love us. They do quite well. You know, if you don't have hot, greasy funnel cake, it's just not a... Yeah, and don't forget curly fries. Oh, curly fries. Everybody's got to have a bucket of curly fries. My arteries are hardening just in anticipation of that. Yeah, we specialize in all the health foods.
Starting point is 00:31:16 But it's so much fun. And it really is a family situation. Of course, Saturday is the parade still. Yes. Yep. We believe the second biggest parade in Oregon. It's a good two-hour parade from, it's on 6th Street from C to M. And, you know, certainly get there early if you want to come over. But it's quite entertaining all sorts of kid groups and special interest.
Starting point is 00:31:42 And the thing is, we broadcast both in Jackson and Josephine County, right? We appreciate the audiences everywhere. And, you know, if you're just hanging around Southern Oregon, if you're hanging around in Medford, a great time. take the little trip here. What makes it more taking that trip, you think, here? What would you tell them is probably the best part? Well, but besides the racing, the racing, of course. Yeah, three races. Yeah. We have, Boatnik's 67 years old now. So over 67 years, we've built, I call it the big beautiful monster. Because how does Little Grants pass have second to third biggest festival in Oregon? We have three boat races, two firework shows,
Starting point is 00:32:21 two concerts. Sebastian Bach will be on Friday night. Galskerr plush. She was on The Voice. God, I have to tell you, Mr. Outdoors, Greg Roberts, who does the show on Friday. And he is like all over that. I think he's even sponsoring Plush. Oh, great. Yeah. Anytime there's someone with a big hair band of the 1980s or even that kind of sound, Greg's all doing that. They do some cover songs, some heart music, even a Sebastian Bach song. And so, yeah, these gals are very surprising.
Starting point is 00:32:55 It's 16 years old. Apparently, she flipped all four chairs in, like, the first verse. And so these girls can sing, they can rock. Oh, that's great. It's going to be a fun show. And we've really tried to keep our prices as cheap as we can. Anybody's looked at any music venue anywhere on the West Coast, and they've gotten very expensive.
Starting point is 00:33:17 And we've really fought to keep our prices affordable for everybody. Okay. Affordability? There's no affordability crisis at Botenk then. We'll call it that. Now, if someone has never gone to it, where, well, now, I just say, you know, go to the road, River, turn right, I guess. But no, in all seriousness, where would you tell people to really go to, you're coming from Jackson County, maybe even coming from way north of Josephine County? I've got a great answer for you. What's that?
Starting point is 00:33:44 A free shuttle. Okay. Grants Pass High School. You can go around to their back parking lot or Josephine County Fair. and we have a free shuttle running all weekend. Again, no charge. You can park away from the fray, and as soon as they drop off, they're heading right back. Okay. So it's not sluggish.
Starting point is 00:34:01 It's very efficient. That's the smarter way, especially if you're outside of Grants Pass and you're coming in and then you don't know it to the same extent. But what is the real action going on this weekend? Well, I always suggest, in case you don't listen to all of our babbling here, go to boatnick. You can hit the three slices and it has every event listed and especially the schedule of events because we have something for every age. Again, dad, grandpa, let's take the kids down, give them some arm bands, let them go ride.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Well, I'm going to go down and watch some boat races or I'm going to watch the golf shootout or go have an adult beverage from. Maybe two. Yes. Maybe three. We have a beer garden and then Saturday, Sunday we have Brewfest. So I can go on and on with everything we have. A memorial show on Monday, as well as our annual hydroplane race.
Starting point is 00:34:56 And real excited, they've been going on for over 60 years. Is there anything special about the hydropplane race? Anybody coming back in particular, we should know about, I haven't kept up on the sport itself, so to speak. The neat thing I've noticed about it is we're seeing kids and grandkids of some of our original racers. And becomes a family of family. Yeah, you'll see dad that's, well, I'm done racing, but he's holding a boat. He's turning a wrench.
Starting point is 00:35:21 The man that is never aging, Jeff Lewis, is raced in 54 or 55 races. Oh, my gosh. He's 1968. He's 75 years old. Still has got more hair than I do. Just amazing guy. And he is, I believe, still the all-time winningest. I believe he's got eight championships.
Starting point is 00:35:46 And just amazing. Yeah, just because by nature, he's entered so many times. My goodness I can't believe. That's great to hear. And survived. He's been racing the same boat for, I believe, 30 years. Stories like that are great to hear. They really are.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Jim Thompson, once again, with the Grants Pass Active Club. Jim, now, is this the fundraiser for the Grants Pass Active Club, or is this just a finale for the Grants Pass? Really, it's the beginning of our year. It's a kickoff for summer, hopefully for everybody. and yes, it is a fundraiser. We are an all-volunteer group. So how many charities can you say your money is 100% going to the youth of Southern Oregon?
Starting point is 00:36:23 You know, we take nothing for ourselves. We have our own fund for our own vices. So it's just, yeah, you have some of the fun for the expenses, or fun for the expenses maybe of doing that. But other than that, none of you are paid then. No. You just do this out of the love of community. Again, the active club's been around 74 years.
Starting point is 00:36:40 and at 67 years ago, the Gladiola Festival in Grants Pass was dying away, and they came up with the idea of the story goes something about Sputnik was in the air. They saw something going through the air, and somehow that turned into Boatnik. So that's where the Nick came from? Yeah, yeah. Okay, that's true. Alcoholic beverages were not involved. We still tease some of those guys because quite a few of them are still around.
Starting point is 00:37:08 We've got to love that story like that. you really do. But yeah, that makes sense. Gladiola Festival, nothing wrong with that. You know, it's fine. Yeah, it was a big industry back then. Something about the sports and the noise and the fume and the fury and the excitement that I think now we know why it's been going on so many years. Yeah. Well, they wanted to create a fun event and Grants Pass and they wanted to raise money for whatever, you know, groups they wanted to and it turned into youth in our case. But, yeah, it's our best. Big fundraiser. We're excited to give everybody a fun weekend, like you said, perfectly.
Starting point is 00:37:45 If you're not traveling out of town, again, go to botanick.com. Check that schedule. There will be something for you. A lot going on. Our fireworks shows. Who blows up fireworks on the Rogue River? We do off of a barge. Yep. I'm glad to know that. That's got to be pretty pricey these days, I would imagine. Yeah, well, nothing's cheap. Talk to Pat Davis about driving a bunch of heavy equipment down from Washington every year. and arm bands. That affects us greatly. But, yeah, we put quite a bit into our fireworks show. We're very proud of it.
Starting point is 00:38:16 It'll be Friday and Sunday night. And again, it's all free to the public. Jim, I really appreciate you coming in here this morning. The big thing to remember, boatneck.com. You can follow them on Facebook. Wonderful family-friendly event and a lot of music, a lot of racing, a lot of, you know, there's even bingo, there's beers, there's all sorts of things. Now, they sent me an Oriental salad last week, but the one I really love, I really love their taco salad. I think Diner-Sixie-2 does a better taco salad than any Mexican restaurant I've ever been at. That's just my opinion, all right? And it's a well-educated opinion. Hi, good morning. KMED, who is this? Welcome. Hello?
Starting point is 00:42:23 This is Mike? Mike, how you doing this morning? You're ready to play the Diner-S62 quiz? Yes, yes, I am. All right. Mike, it's history from Monday, May 18, 1871. The Kiowa Chief Satanta joins with a bunch of other Native Americans to massacre a wagon train near the Red River in northeastern Texas. One of the leading chiefs of the Kiowa, I hope I'm getting this right, Kiowa tribe in the 1860s and 70s.
Starting point is 00:42:53 He was a fearsome warrior, but also a skilled orator and diplomat. In 1870, he and his band left on another one of the hunts provided for by treaty and rode off to Texas. looking for Buffalo. Along the way, they raided several white settlers. The following spring, Satanta joined a large party of other Kiowa and Comanche. In May 18, 1871, they ended up raiding 10 freight trains. They killed seven teamsters, like, you know, a wagon train. They let the drivers escape while they looted the wagons, but eventually he was brought to trial for all these murders.
Starting point is 00:43:29 Now, the question for the win here, what was his ultimate penalty after being charged with the murders? Was he A, found not guilty? Was he B, exiled to South Dakota? Was he C, life sentence in a Texas prison? D, paroled back to the reservation, or E, did they hang him? What do you say? It's one of those five.
Starting point is 00:43:54 I usually don't hang him. You think they... Did they hang him? No. I was shocked. No, they did not hang him. But thank you for playing. We'll try again.
Starting point is 00:44:05 Hi. Good morning. Who's this? This is Alan. Alan. So we're talking about Chief Satanta. Now, he wasn't hanged, but was he found not guilty, exiled to South Dakota, life sentence in a Texas prison, or paroled back to the reservation?
Starting point is 00:44:22 What do you say? I exiled South Dakota. Exile to South Dakota. Good choice. Not the right one, though. I'm sorry. Let me go to next call. Hi, good morning.
Starting point is 00:44:34 Who's this? Hello? Dale. Hi, Dale. So Dale, we're talking about Chief Satanta, killed all these people, admitted it, found not guilty, life sentence in a Texas prison or paroled back to the reservation. What do you say? Yes, absolutely. You are right.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Did you know that or did you just guess? I guessed it. Okay. And the thing is, he was paroled back here. I'm trying to cut to the chase here. Despite his vocal protests, he actually preferred being executed to going in prison. Satanta was returned to the Texas State Penitentiary in Huntsville later. He fell into a deep depression, refused to eat, tried to starve himself.
Starting point is 00:45:22 He was transferred to a prison hospital in 1878, and he died by suicide. He just dove head first from a second-story window. So that's how Chief Satanta ended up meeting his maker there. But a wild story about a guy that, you know, quite. the Warriors, so to speak. So you're headed to Diner 62, and I just want to let you know it's a much calmer crowd there than hanging out with Chief Satanta. Okay? You good with that? All right. You hang on. We'll make sure
Starting point is 00:45:49 and get you all set up. It is 857 and change on KMED.
