This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year
on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season.
And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again,
I was harmed. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven,
Mark keep coming to him. He's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just
playoffs. This was just basketball.

Hey, everyone.
It's Ryder Strong and Wilfredel from PodMeets World.
And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
Ah, ha, who, ah, who.
Again, we are experts.

Another episode of Club 520 podcast live in L.A., man.
It's our first time out here, man.
Shout to our family at the volume.
It's only right, man.
We got the man here with us, but you know how it goes.
introduce him last. Shout to our family. Over there at Boost Mobile. We told you all, special

our family for sure. Now, I know you're really educated about sports. Do you dab with the sports
game with it all? Absolutely. Okay. My first job out of college was Vegas.
Oh, wow. Yeah. I imagine. I didn't have anything to do with sports, but tell us more.
Starting early. Well, my first job out of college, I got to, I did an inning of play-by-play for the
Ray's AAA affiliate.
Okay.
And then I eventually led to a sports casting job.
And Jerry Tarkanian.
Oh, Ledger.
Was big.
Tyson was coming into his own.
Yeah.
And the mob was still there.
Tony's philonic.
So one night I go to one night, I did the 11 o'clock sports on TV.
And my best friend owned an Italian restaurant.
And so he calls me and he goes, hey, I just got off, you just got off the news.
I had a late close.
Let's go down Spring Mountain Road.
I got to drop off some pasta.
he not only owned a restaurant, but he made pasta for casinos.
He goes, I have a delivery at this Italian restaurant on Spring Mountain Road.
I said, okay, I'll meet you there.
So I walk in.
There's four mob guys in the corner.
So at the time, there was, mob was covered by the local news.
Are you serious?
And Vegas had like a, Ned Day.
Well, I got out of college at 86.
So I was in Vegas, like late 80s, early 90s.
That was when the rebels were great Larry John.
So my first job out was, so I go to this restaurant, and there was a reporter years ago, you could look at it up named Ned Day.
So he was a mob reporter.
He was from Milwaukee.
Wow.
There was a mob town at one point.
Yes.
So I go to eat dinner at this restaurant, and I look over, and there's the Joe Beshe character.
Oh, what the fuck?
Okay, so, but not Joe Besheed, the real mobster.
Yeah.
So I look over in the corner, and I'm like, oh, wait a minute.
he thinks I'm a news reporter.
So I'm like, I'm not going to the bathroom.
So I sat there.
We sat there drinking wine for two hours.
I wouldn't pee because I'm not going to the bathroom and walk past it
because all the mob guys were staring at me.
And I'm thinking they think I'm a mob reporter.
And you couldn't take your eyes off them.
They looked like mobsters.
They were all like this tall and thick.
And so I get out.
out of the restaurant.
It's a while measurements.
I walked down to the restaurant
and a couple months later,
Tony Spilatro,
you saw it in the movie Casino,
got whacked in a cornfield in Indiana.
That's crazy.
Well, goddamn Colin,
that's the best hard rock.
And with that piece,
that was a hard rock next to day.
He's from a cold sopranos.
He might get some mention of your wife.
It's crazy, man.
Jeff, you're not the only guy with great stories.
No, shit, that's been any of my stories?
I'm like, they have my reporters and they see them.
Did your best bring?
Like, no.
No.
You ever seen the movie Casino?
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
So I, they asked, so the news people you see in the movie Casino, that was my news team.
Dave Cravasier, Gwen Castaldi, they asked me to do it.
But at the time of the filming, the rebels were good, and I was doing road trips, and I couldn't
literally go shoot it.
Because I was so busy, the rebels were great.
And so when that movie comes out, the news people, that was my channel 3, KVBC, in Las Vegas.
I know we haven't introduced you yet, but that has to piss you off a little bit.
Like, you could have been a casino.
It's one of my favorite movies ever.
A lot of ours.
That's great.
That's a great movie.
Thanks.
And so, you know, Roxy Roxborough, who's played by De Niro.
Yeah.
You know, that's a real thing.
So these really are your people.
Oh, absolutely.
Oh, shit.
This is crazy.
So, so.
So.
So the place where Roxy Roxburgh, there's a moment in casino where Roxy Roxborough gets blown out of a car.
So he keeps the door open because he thinks he's going to get killed.
He starts the car and it blows up and it blows him out of the car.
That is in the parking lot of Marie's calendars, which is where I used to go to dinner in between my 6 and 11 o'clock news.
Literally, the mob hit was right that.
Back when I moved to Vegas, that stuff was raw and reasonable.
That's crazy.
You ever had Marie Caller?
No.
All great pie.
That pie pie and cornbread.
Swore to God.
Whoa, time on.
They got a chicken pasta.
It's unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
It's like, so what you do is how it comes is like a little square.
It doesn't miss a minute.
It comes like a little square.
You just peeled up just a little bit.
It's got to go.
Four minutes.
It's right.
Gun smoke.
Oh, my God.
That's crazy.
It doesn't do this.
My man's already.
The internet mentioned you say, you've never seen John Gruden breakdown on film?
That's Behead when it comes to food.
Oh, yeah, man.
It comes with broccoli and everything, bro.
Desire.
Yes.
I'll take your word for you.
And with that being said, shout to our film.
Your Hard Rock, Matt.
Tap in for sure.
Behan got a lazy to get you paid.
Shout to our film being Stock X-Men.
Live in L.A.
It's all you're right, man.
We got a legendary building.
Introduce him blast.
But to my far left, we got my dog.
Bishop, B. Hennett out the pearly.
So you what, nasty?
Let's get to it, man.
We got a big, big guest today, man.
Yeah.
We had Mark Cuban on.
No, yeah.
That's a big gas.
Yeah, that's the guy, too.
But you're pretty big yourself, for sure.
That's great.
And talk.
That's great, you know.
I mean, we were family.
I mean, but that's crazy.
Respect.
Yeah, I remember when we hired you guys.
You don't even know the story of it.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, what's shit?
Introduce them so we get a girl at 11.
See.
We got the legend in the middle.
It's really.
Collie Calder, makes a noise for our guy, man, for sure.
It's silly.
We're here.
We get a better story.
Every child.
Yeah, we was wondering how we landed here, so we'd love to know.
No, I, we were, we were looking for, I mean, it was very competitive.
There was like podcasts everywhere.
They were exploding.
And somebody had mentioned you, and my step-sons like, oh my God, these guys are hilarious.
Oh, shout out.
He goes, he goes, you gotta hear these guys.
And, and so I was like, all right.
And so my whole theory on podcasting is there's two things that matter.
Number one, when we got into this business, we were a small company.
We're still a small company, but we're growing.
So my theory is we couldn't compete with NBC, ESPN, or Fox.
So I said, we have to find guys who are like rising stars in AAA baseball.
They're great.
They're going to get promoted to the bigs.
But once they get to the bigs, which we are now in podcasting, but at the time we were
in double A to AAA, I said, we've got to find guys. We can't get into bidding wars with huge
companies. So we've got to do better homework. We're baseball scouts. And so we heard you guys
and we're like, oh, they're going to be in the bigs really fast. So we're going to move on it.
And so I listened to it. And my whole theory on what makes good broadcasters grinds,
you got to grind. So, you know, that we like people that like, busting them with the boys,
first time I heard them, I'm like, those guys put it in work. So I listen to you guys,
I'm like, oh, these guys put the work in.
The second thing is, which is, I think, is lost a lot of times is you guys are really what you are as storytellers.
That's what it's all about.
My favorite baseball announcer all time is Vin Scully.
He was a storyteller, and it just so happened baseball was in front of him.
But he was really a great American storyteller.
Paul Harvey was a legendary radio broadcast where he used to move the ads into the broadcast.
You couldn't tell what the broadcast wasn't what the ads were.
He was a storyteller.
So the first time I heard you guys, Logan Swain said, you got to listen to these guys.
I'm like, oh, shit, these are our best storytellers at the company.
I said, this is going to work.
I said, they grind.
I said, they're going to get promoted.
You wearing a Yankee hat.
I said, about six months here, they're going to be in the show.
And somebody's going to go, I said, we have to show them how good we are what we do
a few weeks before you get the September call up, which baseball used to have.
So then we got lucky, got you, and it's been great.
And now we graduated that we're all growing together.
Yeah, for sure, for sure.
But it was, you guys are great storytellers.
And that's really your good listeners, great storytellate.
You guys think your basketball and all that.
And my thing is, no, you could put you in any environment.
It doesn't matter what the subject is.
You tell good story.
Just so happens, basketball is your thing.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
We appreciate that, man.
We never do.
Yeah, I just remember getting the call from Jamie.
Yeah.
He said, think about it first.
Yeah.
Jamie talked to you.
I'm like, oh, we talked with some people.
Think about it first.
He said, think about it first.
I'm going to call you tomorrow.
Just give me a chance.
That's a fact.
That's a fact.
Andy, it's funny that you say that time, October,
well, September, it was right at time period.
I know what I was evaluating some stuff.
And then Jamie came in, fourth quarter.
Just like, oh, you know,
see what you guys are going on.
But give me called back tomorrow.
Yeah.
Shout to our God, man.
Jamie just basically said, we're the better option.
See, I don't what you guys got going on out there.
We're better than else.
Yeah.
Shout to my guy, Jamie.
We don't do a lot of, our take is we're really good at what we do.
And we've actually told people before, like, okay, go do that for a year.
You're going to circle back.
That's not how to work.
It's not because of you because we don't think that comes.
So we've, like our whole thing is we're good at what we do.
Sometimes people make promises.
And my, I've always told my step, don't make a promise we can't keep.
Like we're good people.
We work hard.
You work hard.
So you guys have been, I mean, you guys have been great.
Obviously you know that.
It's been a huge success.
Did you see the vision like with podcasts, like were you to start a company like this?
Yeah, yeah.
The way it happened was COVID.
So I want to bore your audience here, but COVID, COVID happened and nobody drove.
So COVID happened and the cars in like Los Angeles, there were no cars in the road.
And so I was talking to my boss, Julie Talbot ran I heart radio.
Yep.
And she said, I said, she called and I said, God, we don't have an audience, do we?
And she said, no, she goes, your audience has never left.
I said, there's nobody driving.
She said, your audience is the only audience.
There was one other political person that they're going home and listening to you.
And I said, what's happened to our revenue?
And she goes, the show sold out.
I said, with COVID?
She goes, yeah.
So I went, I thought about it for about three days.
And I called her back and I said, listen, if you let me form a company,
I'm not going to give you any ownership, but I'll do a rev split.
If I can create 2,000 hours a month, you can get 50,000.
percent of my revenue at the time. I said because otherwise when COVID ends, I don't have any
spots to sell. And that's going to go to ESPN. So I said, if I'm sold out now, what the hell
happens when this pandemic ends? So I said, let me start a company. Yeah. And they, you know,
they wanted to own it. I said, no, I'm going to own it. But I'll give you a rev split.
I'll do all the creating. And then we had to get really busy and find people. And we made some
mistakes in the first couple years, you know, you're just trying to find people, you know.
But we, we hired, we got very lucky. The one thing, you know, this happens in life.
Whenever something often awful happens, the duality of it. Like you're like, oh, the good stuff
happens. So the one thing about COVID that was great is that really good people got let go
at companies, people that would never be available in management, talent acquisition,
salespeople, company.
But companies who have to answer to boards, we didn't.
Small company.
We didn't have to answer to boards.
We didn't have to answer to the stock market.
And I looked at Jamie, I'm like, I can't believe these people are available.
So we started building a team.
I told Jamie, I said, let's not take a salary.
Jamie and I said, let's just go three years, market day salary.
Let's just go buy the best people on the market.
And so that's what we did.
We went and found all these people that would have never been available.
So one of the things I learned during COVID is on the grayest day,
in the darkest times, there will be a silver lining.
And there were all sorts of people available that would never be.
It was almost like if the NBA said tomorrow, hey, we're going to get rid of four teams.
You're like, I got 60 players available.
I'm going to form a new league.
So it was like all of a sudden there was all these people on the beach because, you know, NBC is like, oh, budget.
Because everybody's earnings went down during COVID.
Everybody was scared.
The economy stuff.
They cared.
We're like, okay, this is the only opportunity to make this company work.
Damn, y'all was in the portal.
Sure.
To the portal, I said, hey.
Fink they're the NIA.
I was the real NIA.
NBCA treaty right?
All these videos.
Comes to the West Coast.
It's true.
He said everybody was on the beach.
That's hilarious.
That's our guy, Jamie, man.
Happy birthday.
How did y'all link up, man?
Jamie's funny.
So I was at ESPN for
I don't know how many years I was there.
Dallas Sports Nation.
Yeah, yeah.
So they didn't,
ESPN was great.
I mean,
I really like what they did.
They weren't,
they didn't quite know what to do.
So I mean,
I've done play by play,
but I wasn't play by play.
I can be a journalist,
but I wasn't a journalist.
I wasn't your traditional anchor.
So I was like a generalist.
I was an opinionist.
And so they didn't quite know what to do.
And one of,
one of the guys came up to me,
one of the managers said,
you know what?
I'm going to call you,
you got a lot of,
theories. I'm going to call you the company theorist. I said, if I was a pro wrestler,
would that sound like something you go off? The theorist? I'm like, that's a terrible brand.
And Jamie went to, so Jamie was in management. He goes, let me go talk to this guy.
So Jamie listened to me really intently for about two or three weeks. And he went to management.
And he goes, yeah, he goes, just, you know, I don't want to say exactly what he said. It was kind of
braggy. But he said, I know how to use this guy.
and you guys don't, let me create a show.
And so I told them, I'm not going to do a traditional show.
I said, I want to be with a woman.
I want somebody that gives me shit.
I want, you know, I want, I tend to be like, I mean, to be honest with you, kind of like,
older white guy bloviating, king of the hill.
I'm like, I need somebody to take shots at me.
I need somebody to, I said, so get a kind of a smart-ass woman that will take shots at me.
And we interviewed like seven and Michelle Beatle was, I mean, literally 30 seconds of doing it.
I covered my mic and I said, it's your job.
You've got it.
And the other women were great.
And they all had great jobs, but she was just perfect.
And Jamie built a show, and I said, you know, I literally talk all the time by myself on the radio, criticizing and being critical, somebody has to hit me.
Somebody's got to throw pitches at me.
And so that show was kind of, I was sort of the target of everybody's criticism.
and that made me more, I thought, more likable.
And the show was, and we were basically targeting young kids after school.
And so the show was light and fun.
And we talked about stuff that was just nonsense that nobody talked.
We also talked about stuff no other show talked about.
Because I said, we can't compete with SportsCenter.
There was a guy at ESPN, a great guy named Brian Kenny.
And Brian was one of those guys at ESPN.
He could literally do everything.
Ping pong, host, reporting.
and I said, we have to create a show that Brian Kenney would feel uncomfortable on.
So he could literally do any show at ESPN.
He can do play-by-play boxing.
I said, what if we had created a show that Brian Kenny would go?
Yeah, that doesn't work for me.
That doesn't work.
And I said, that's the show.
I said, we got to create something that's so weird and so ridiculous that our traditional anchors would be like, yeah, that's not going to work for me.
That show does.
And that's the show we created.
Man, that's dope.
Shout to my guy, Jay, man.
He's seen a vision for sure.
He really knows what he's doing.
He's really different.
Now, you know, I heard you say,
like our show.
I was going to say,
that's kind of like our show.
I was real interesting.
I know you said,
except something put you on,
but what demo did you hear from us?
I'm really interesting,
because I'm thinking of the time period.
We were saying?
We was doing it in the time period.
Back in 520,
like before we had a studio,
I'm like, well,
what did they hear just saying sign them?
Because we're fine.
I don't think we ever cared about demo.
Like, we were like,
talent, work ethic,
storytellers.
We didn't really care about,
we weren't like seeking blank, blank, blank.
I'm just like, dude, we're looking for funny.
We're looking for storytellers.
We didn't really, we weren't like check and box.
We didn't care.
Like I've always looked at us as a,
we're a talent company.
We don't give it shit.
You can be a pro wrestler.
I wanted to hire Rick Flair's Charlotte Flair.
Oh, okay.
And I'm like, you know, I was like,
she's talented.
It doesn't matter if it.
I don't care.
You know, I don't care.
I don't, I'm into talent.
It's not like I'm a baseball company, and if you can't play short.
Right.
I look at it like, we're a media company.
You got talent.
We think we're good working with talent.
So we didn't really worry about demographics and stuff or age.
If you guys were 80 and storytellers, you know, we don't care.
A-R-P-Pod, baby, tap for sure.
Sponsored my Bing game.
Now, I ask you this question.
If you were different times for you and you growing as a different,
adrenaline this time period, who is the athlete that you would start your pot with?
There's a, yeah, that's interesting.
There's a lot of interesting people.
Chemistry is really hard.
So one of the reasons the show works is you guys normally like each other, but you respect each other.
Yeah.
Right?
So, one of the reasons I like old school, I had Channing Fry on the other day.
Channing Fry made good money.
He didn't make Kevin Garnett money.
Yeah.
So I like people who have been successful, but still need to work.
Jamie and I always had this theory that when we hired people, we didn't have to be your biggest income, but we couldn't be worse than second.
Like if you were a basketball player, we're not going to pay what the warriors are.
But we got to, if you have a big shoe deal, now we're third, eventually you won't care.
So we've got to be your second.
Or you may have a pension or you got a local deal.
I don't have to outbid everybody.
But if I'm not your second, so I would have to find an athlete who made good money but would need to put the work in.
So when you ask me who's the athlete I would work with, it's really who would be the teammate I would work with.
I'd have to find a teammate.
It really wouldn't be sports specific, person specific, gender.
It could be Charlotte Flair.
It wouldn't matter, right?
Wrestling pays her more, but she didn't have a shoe deal,
all be her shoe deal.
So that's kind of how I look at it.
And it's really interesting, you know.

We basically, we do it sometimes.
We don't create pods.
We find them, but we've gotten more into the pod creation business.
And that's the same thing.
We're looking for people that need to work.
but have been successful on their own,
like the Sophie Cunningham pod.
You know, she's got a real gig,
but her and Wes.
But a lot of it is,
you know, it's like when you go on a trip.
Okay, if you go on a trip with LeBron,
he's going to be like,
okay, I'm going to buy this $24,000 bottle of Beano.
And you'd be all like, oh, shit,
we got chip in for that.
Right?
Oh, that's LeBron.
I don't know.
I got nothing for.
He ain't never been on a max deal.
He got this.
For sure.
I don't know what my wallet is.
He didn't bring nothing on this shit.
We're not even a shoe deal.
When you vacation?
Like, we go even two.
I'm not paying for a wallet, man.
I'm not bringing my wallet, man.
You want vacation?
You want a vacation with somebody who's kind of in the same realm?
Right, right.
Nobody wants to go to Vegas, and it's poor guys, and then the rich dude,
and everybody resents him by the first dinner.
Yeah, yeah.
Right?
So you just got to find similar.
Really deep trips.
Respect.
That's broad.
They're crazy.
All right.
So we didn't get names.
Now you got to pick between two people starting to pop.
Miles Turner.
Oh, Mike Bramble.
Oh, my brother.
Miles Turner is actually interesting.
Shout to Miles.
He'll say stuff.
We will.
We hurt.
You know, coaches don't say a lot.
I don't put a lot of coaches on my show.
They're not because it's coach speak.
Most of them didn't make player money.
So they're going to be pretty protective of their fraternity, their tribe.
You know, like they got the coaching guys.
So like Nick Sabin's rare.
Like Nick Sabin will just call people out.
Yeah.
Because Nick's up here.
He retired at the top.
He doesn't know anybody anything.
So Sabins can really, Urban Myers similar.
Like Urban doesn't, you know, he golfs and he broadcasts.
He's not getting back into coaching.
It's hard to find a lot of, it's hard to find those.
NFL guys.
What about basketball, though?
You don't think it's my basketball coaches of the
Com?
They're the same.
A little bit, though.
Tiago's Twitter.
Are you all the same?
We need to hear about what happened in Portland, man.
But it would be a long-term part.
Whoa.
What they're an old-
Great guest.
What their owner said he ain't paying him, so shit.
He's probably looking for the income right now.
I don't know about that, man.
But, well, I'm sure you used to work in Portland.
So it's a great fan base.
It is.
They have a great.
I don't like the idea of him pulling them out of the city.
No, that ain't, bro.
We were just talking about the squad back.
They sell out every year.
You like the fan base there?
Yeah, they sell out every game.
Portland was great to play.
It was great.
We need that area.
Like, we need that area.
Like, they all dead whole.
Well, only paying a coach or a million dollars.
Him telling them, ain't no t-shirts tonight.
It's crazy.
Yeah, to play.
We had been in a long time.
Our coach is Colorado.
We can't get a fucking t-shirt.
That was it.
I know you.
You just bought this team, bro.
You ain't heard from Brin.
that bad. You can't get a black t-shirt for two games.
Have you watched the jailblazer dock on Netflix?
Yeah.
Yeah, I was the one covering that.
Oh, shit. It just gets better.
It just never.
You and Jamie got some of the best
stories. Nah, for me. I just been everywhere.
Like, every time we talked about it.
I worked at the NBC affiliate. No, what's funny was
Damon didn't like me at the time,
although I love Damon. And
he was the only guy that got in trouble.
I had real sympathy for Damon
because he was in Toronto.
And they had a baseball team.
and a hockey team, and Toronto maybe the most
diverse city in the world. Yeah, I mean,
so Damon 510 could hide
in Portland.
From there. And it was his hometown.
Yeah. And I think
there was nowhere Damon could go and just
just have a nice night out. Because Portland's
not like a wild, I mean,
is downtown Portland and the boring birds.
So like Sheed was young
and emotional. He was funny.
It was actually funny.
I liked covering him,
but
The Damon thing, I always had sympathy for him.
It's like you can't go home again.
And I felt like he got, he was a little trap there.
Like I said on Netflix, like, guys, I'm not a fucking crime reporter.
Like, I'm a basketball guy.
Like, so it got to a point where every time I showed up to a press conference, I was a bad guy.
Yeah.
And I wanted to ask basketball questions, but my management's like, hey, you've got to ask about the recent, you know, arrest.
And it got really tiring.
But Bob, so Bob Wittitts, it was a GM.
And Bob was.
The Blazers were in a weird spot where they were too good to get good draft picks.
So they always drafted at like 15.
So I used to say, Bob, guy, this roster, and he's like, try drafting 15.
He goes, the NBA runs out of players at 13.
So they ended up getting like Germain O'Neill, like middle of the first.
And Bob's like, we get guys who can play.
He goes, we're not drafting four.
I mean, like this year's draft is rare.
Next year's draft by three.
You're out of players.
Yes.
Three years ago, you're at, I mean, in the James Wiseman draft, it's Ant and LaMello, I think, was in that one.
Yeah.
So Bob's thing was, we don't get real precious here.
I got the 17th pick.
I'm giving you an NBA player.
And that was his defense.
It's like, we draft guys and they make the league.
I mean, Jermaine was a good player.
Great.
And so they were in a weird spot where would he been like, would Bob have been like, really, if Bob had the sixth pick, he could be much more concerned about, you know, characters?
is like, I'm just trying to find a guy, because that Portland team was so stacked.
I mean, if you couldn't play, you'd get sniffed out in two practices.
Yeah.
I mean, it was, I mean, on this Arvita, she, Pippin, Smith, Bonsie, damn it.
The Kobe Stopper.
I mean, Germain, I remember going to practices, and the players wanted Germain to play.
He was out of high school.
He was 18, and he was a dog at practice.
I mean, killing guys.
Oh, he was killing guys.
He was the only one that cared about practice.
So in practice, Germain would just crushing.
And the players are all right, he's going to play.
And, you know, it took him time to go.
So I had a lot of sympathy for everybody I covered.
They should have beaten the Lakers.
They should have.
They got cheated.
Well, and also, I mean, they just got tight.
They had shots in the fourth.
They missed what, 10 and a row, 12 in a row?
Yeah.
Yeah.
He was getting cheated the whole game, though.
But they missed 12 shots in a row.
I'm frustrated.
I'll give you that.
We're talking about the draft.
You just said that.
This draft is a special draft, I guess they will say.
You got AJ DeBanza.
It's supposed to be number one.
Darren Peterson.
Who would you take number one?
I think DeBanza,
I think Darren Peterson has a higher ceiling.
I worried that he's a silo player.
Like no assists.
Like Kauai when he broke into the league.
Darren's going to get you 26.
I remember before the season,
Doug Gottlieb coaches at Green Bay.
He said, you got to watch Darren Peterson.
So Kansas was on two nights later.
I turned it on.
Three possessions, I'm like, that's Kobe.
And I'm no basketball scout, but I'm like, bro, that's Kobe.
And he goes, yeah, well, we're playing him in a week.
Yeah, and he lit him up.
So I saw him, but then I started watching him.
I'm a boy, he really plays in a silo.
You know, he doesn't really help.
DeBon says, now I think Darren's a more polished offensive player,
but the hammy, they're now calling it too much creatine.
I was going to ask that all.
I just worry about it.
DeBonsa may never be as polished offensively, but he doesn't play in a silo.
I think he's stronger.
It looks like his structure's bigger and stronger.
I worry, though, when he goes to Washington with Trey Young,
Trey averages 19 shots a game.
Trey can be tough to play with.
He gets to the ball late in the shot clock.
Not going to defend a lot.
You know, his reputation.
I mean, remember when he left Atlanta, Jalen Johnson exploded.
Remember when Harden left Philly, Maxi exploded.
So I think DeBantza, I think his first two years in the league will average 21,
and then they'll move Trey and they'll average 28.
You don't like him?
I don't think he's going there.
I like him.
Danny H.
He's going to Utah.
You think so?
They're going.
What are you going to give Washington, Walker Kessler?
Oh, no, you get it.
Ace Bailey.
The two-pick and a few-pick and a few-year-old.
future pick. You give up Ace Bailey?
I wouldn't. If I'm getting an AJ, yeah.
They would. Not for me, but
that's what they want. I told them. They've been groominging
for the last seven years. You clearly won him more than what
Ace Bailey. I mean, he went to high school
in Utah. I don't know
if I'd give up Ace Bailey. I would.
I'm rolling. Ace Bailey is free.
Oh, Ace Bailey. What do you say, DJ, speak
what, speak DC?
You're all your way.
Learned momos songs, brother. You will be in the
nation's capital. And that's what's
between me and AJ the fans.
It's not a good idea, Carl.
Damn.
The best, the best, there's two great,
there's two great players in professional sports.
Yes.
Let's take out baseball with no salary cap.
Okay.
The two greatest players you can have in football, basketball, or hockey,
superstars or really good guys for free.
Mm-hmm.
Ace Bailey is free for four years.
Yes.
Dylan Harper, you've got to be kidding me.
Dillon Harper's free.
That guy's insane.
So if you don't have LeBron in his prime,
I think Halliburton's an amazing talent.
He's an amazing talent.
I think he's an amazing talent. I think he's my favorite player right now in the league.
You've got to get some more players.
No, I mean, I just like the way he plays.
No, but I'm saying either have a star or have a really good player who's free.
There's no value in having a B-plus guy that's a fortune.
Those guys are all over the league.
AJ going to be free.
You're not paying it for three years.
I know, AJ, I'm saying.
So if you let Ace Bailey go to get AJ who's going to be free.
I want a two free.
Damn.
See, remember.
But remember Salt Lake, you can't get free agents.
Yeah, but they just...
You have to overpay in Salt Lake.
You know, free agents.
That's why you trade for AJ.
Yeah, you got to go for a store.
He's going to be a star.
Because Keonton George is getting back to him.
You don't think Ace Bailey is a star?
I think he's solid.
I think he has a good player.
19 a game?
19, 18, 8.
I think AJ can average 27.
If Ace get the opportunity, he can.
He's a good player.
He's a good.
He's similar.
But Utah's so stacked.
You're like, your front of work, you pay so much money in.
But remember, Utah, you have to overpay for you got to remember.
AJ actually likes Utah.
Colleen, you don't even got to look at me when you speak.
Think about it, though.
He went to a school where he couldn't have sex in to be a jazz, bro.
They're going to get this shit done, bro.
Ace didn't want to go to Utah at all.
He did.
At all.
He wanted to go to D.C.?
Which is a good one.
That's not for fucking Utah.
That's true.
That is, that was your bestselling point.
He didn't want to be there.
He didn't want to go to the UK.
That's pretty good.
He actually wants to go there.
Now, Colin, I got you here.
I've never asked you for anything, but I need your help on this.
You're a great journalist.
Can we please find out why the NBA hates my fucking Pacers?
Because there is no way in the world at that lottery pick would just happenstance
and what they did to us and set us back.
And I'm really upset about this.
But I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
First of all, if you were,
If you were going to rig the NBA, there is no way you'd have Oklahoma City as the champion.
No, it just doesn't make sense.
Secondly, if you were going to rig the NBA, I think everybody looks at Halliburton.
It's like he's kind of Steph Curry Midwest.
Like everybody, he's just the night.
Talk to him college.
Talk to him college.
They disrespect my pages.
No, I'm talking.
No, I'm talking about selling shoes, likable personality, plays with joy.
Not a score.
Colin.
I'm not saying style.
I love Tyree.
That's bull to
Seth Curry
I'm going to
Wait it
What?
Oh no
I gotta respect
Colin Tynke though
I respect you
I'm not saying points
And I can't
I'm saying in the Midwest
If I said
I'll just say this
Say this out loud
There's this kind of
handsome, funny
playful, joyful
leader of a franchise
that you can't help
But like
Elevates his teammates
He's kind of
polarizing guys, but you can't quite figure it out. You'd be like, like Steph Curry. No, no, no,
it'd be that. That'd be Tyrese Halliburton. He's like, he's kind of polarizing because his game
doesn't have, by the way, NBA guys liked Westbrook over Curry because Westbrook had hops and was
physical and tough. A lot of guys thought, and then Curry came out with a pharmacy shoes,
and people are like, oh, God, you got no credibility.
That is right. I hate the ball away. I'm the CBS tools.
And so Halliburton
Avi Prophics.
Halliburton got voted
Most overrated player in the league by players
and you watch him, you're like,
okay, that's animosity.
Yeah, yeah.
Tell me that's over.
His herky jerky, there's nothing else like it
in the game.
It doesn't look like anybody else's game.
One of the best postseason runs
in any bad history.
He's a damn good player.
I just, when you said, Steph, Curtis.
You think he better than Troy Young?
Oh, absolutely.
Because I think...
What do he do different is Troy Young?
No, he...
So, don't confuse.
Okay, I have a theory in life.
Okay, here we go.
Yeah.
Don't confuse.
They said you were a theory man.
Yeah.
You know what?
Don't confuse assists with your good teammate.
That's like confusing people in the family who give gifts, but you can't stand.
Yeah.
There are good gift givers, but you're like, God, Paul's a dude.
But he gets a hundred rain.
He gives great.
Oh, personal.
Everybody looks at, everybody looks and goes, oh, my God.
Trey's assists.
Yeah, late in the shot clock, he deals it after, like, Trey is not easy to play with.
Halliburton's a joy to play.
And I like Trey.
Trey's a great guy.
And he's a huge talent.
But Marbury used to get a lot of assists.
He got his points first, then he hand out assists.
Like people look at assists and think, it's like steals.
Iverson leads the league in steals.
He took huge risks.
Right?
That doesn't mean you're a great defensive player.
Yeah, but I don't know, I ain't messing with that tape.
Trey Young.
I'm not saying he's not a good player.
No, no, you didn't call him sad.
He's better than Tari's Halliburton, though.
For what?
He can score better.
He can pass better.
Tarese ain't one of the biggest defenders in the world.
Shit, Colin's talking like Tyrese Helleberton guard, like, we're on our test.
You guys don't like Halliburton?
I love Halliburton.
I love Halliburton.
Go, PG.
Yeah, I love Halliburton.
But I just think it's...
I think trade...
There's 20...
Yes.
Then how come they traded him?
Because...
You know, sometimes...
Sometimes he does less with more.
The Kings traded Tyree Tullabird.
Two poverty franchises, the Hawks and the Kings.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
By the way.
Another guy that gives out a sis James Hardin
leaves Philly, Maxie explodes.
You'd think, well, he made Maxie a better player.
Maxie became an all-star overnight, 27 a game.
Trey Young leaves Atlanta.
Jalen Johnson explodes.
They learned.
He was already projecting.
Yeah, he got hurt.
Yeah, he got hurt.
He went all-star last year.
He was going to all-star last year.
He was averaging around 20.
Fags.
I didn't say all my takes are right.
Fags.
You just, you know.
That's funny.
I know I tried to Tray Young, too,
because they was trying to go in a different direction.
We thought he was blowing it up.
Yeah, and they didn't want a pain.
And he was injury pro.
Now, I have a question for you.
shot at his Hawks and they got the number of
pick, but I was telling him they didn't deserve number one
pick because of Zachary Richardson say.
Am I okay with saying that?
Because I feel like as a franchise
who never got number one pick, if you abuse yours,
you don't get another one.
This new lottery system is doing,
I'm hating right now.
I'm the drive.
Well, y'all took Zubot.
That was a-
Tell them they made a piss poor decision.
Well, there's an argument
that you shouldn't get back-to-back number ones.
There's Orlando did years ago.
Remember they won back-to-back lotters.
There's an argument you shouldn't
See, I think the tanking thing's overblown.
So this year, there are nine tanking teams.
Oh, what's interesting is that the draft has nine players viewed as all-stars.
There's no reason to tank next year.
So organizations this year, nine teams were willing to kind of screw with their culture.
Why?
Because there was nine great players.
There weren't 13 tankers because there's not 13 great.
Then you're going to get into Yax-Lenaborg, Adai Mara, good players, not franchise change.
Oh, more are going higher.
No, I think he's good.
Day Mar will go on top seven.
You think so?
Yeah, yeah.
But the point is next year is a terrible draft, don't be no tanking.
You're not going to school your culture to get a fifth starter.
This year, people were willing to just say, we're going to lose on,
we're kind of going to kind of lose because the talent's so good.
And I got mad because our best player got hurt in Game 7, and everybody else,
they were just their same team.
They were just sad.
Like, we weren't really taking.
We lost our best player.
We had no choice.
We weren't going to win those games without him.
Right.
And we got pit a lot for it.
Yeah.
That's crazy.
Well, you guys needed a center, so you went to the clippers.
And DJ, let this shit go.
It's over with, you, huh?

Y'all drafting Zuba.
Yeah, you know, it's bad because I'm a Cowboys fan.
So now I don't have shit to look forward to.
Like, it's about to be training camp and, like, I just know sadness for another
the year.
Like, no, Cowboys will be okay.
Yeah, they have a better season.
They're always okay.
Eight?
Sure.
In eight.
Yeah, they'll be around there.
There'll be nine and eight.
But, you know, Mike Evans looks real good, man.
How do you feel about Boozer?
How you feel about the Boozer kid?
I like him.
I think a really smart kid.
you're going to get, like I talked to a scout, I talked to a scout in the Eastern Conference two weeks ago,
long time scout.
And he said, I don't know if he'll make an all-star team, but he'll make your team better.
He'll be your third best player.
He'll be 18 and 10.
He'll be a lot like his dad.
He'll be a solid starter.
He's not going to be your one or two starter on a championship team, but it'll be a really good third starter.
He may make an all-star team in the east, probably not in the west.
But he's a really, really...
Is that how you said that?
What's that?
Well, the East is not very good.
Well, see, that's where I make my all start.
I guess it's great.
I kind of feel a little way about that.
They don't want to admit it.
I said it before the season.
It was two years ago.
The 8th need made the final.
Last year, the four seed did.
This year, the number one seed doesn't have a second score.
Don't worry about it because New York is here to save the day.
I wore my Knicks head for you.
God.
The Knicks are back.
Now, what's your real take on them?
Did the Knicks are back?
I missed it because they literally switched.
They made Cat a point center.
Yeah, I never saw that coming.
Yeah, I didn't see it coming.
So my whole take was complimentary roster, can't have really, can't, you want Mitchell Robinson.
You don't want Mitchell on the floor because he's an offensive limited player,
but you can't have Cat on late because he'll get worked and he creates, he does weird fouls.
So he's like a huge liability.
And they decided we're going to bring him outside, take the burden off Brunson, make him a point center.
and I'm like, oh, shit.
I mean, he went from one assist the game to seven.
He's a totally different player.
So he's always been skilled.
He's always been a little emotional, a weird foul guy.
But he's always been a great jump shooter.
So I think Mike Brown deserves a ton of credit.
Yeah, he didn't get a lot of slander basically what was going on.
But like you said, that's a major adjustment.
It was.
He got them still alive right now.
They remember at the end of the year, there were all these leaks.
I can remember listening, was it Josh Hart or somebody said,
like, our chemistry is not good.
And it was like 12 games to go.
And I'm like, oh, they're shot.
And then all of a sudden now, their chemistry is great.
So a lot of times, everybody always wants to make predictions, but stuff.
Okay, like football, everybody was like, well, Sam Darnold, turnovers.
Stiehawks were second in the NFL last year in giveaways.
Playoff start, Sam Darnel didn't have a turnover in the better conference.
And you're like, well, nobody predicted that because it never happened before.
Everybody liked Darnel, but like a turnover.
We all like Cat, but you're like, it kind of plays in a silo, can't have him on the floor.
We just change his game.
So it's like sometimes stuff happens that it's just good coaching.
Do you think the Knicks can be?
Okay.
I think they can play with them.
I think they're really a problem for the Spurs because the Spurs are 20 years old.
And the Knicks got, they got guys.
They got men.
I think OKC is just too deep.
I mean, it's just waves.
San Antonio is a little top heavy at this point.
I think the Knicks could take them.
I think it's a six-game series, five-six.
They got a better bench than the Knicks, though.
They do.
That's why they would win the series.
They would shut it out.
See, I think Minnesota and Oklahoma City are not great matchups for the Knicks.
I think San Antonio, because of their youth, they would win it, but they, New York would give them problems.
I mean, they beat them in the cup.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
That take was better than the curry.
Oh, yeah.
Smoking.
While we hear, what's one take you wish you could take back?
One take you had it was like, ooh, this age like shit.
Ben Simmons, I got you.
Oh, don't worry about it.
No, I got you.
I remember that.
Well, I said, what did I say?
Ben Simmons is the bomb.
That's a way.
Yeah, I did.
Simmons is here.
I said, Benjamin.
At the time, no, Colin, I'm with you.
No, no, no, no, no.
You went crazy.
That was some Tarry, Albert's, Duff Curry, shit.
He had a moment.
But at that time, Ben Simmons, bro, was going up.
Man, I played against him.
I said, have y'all not seen LeBron?
I don't know.
I got a little hot that day.
I overheated on the air.
Well, what made you, like, feel that way?
Well, because I was told I had my basketball college guys.
They're like, that's probably the best part.
They're like, it's magic if magic played defense.
They're like, magic couldn't shoot either.
They're like, he's magic, but he's maybe a better athlete, and he plays real defense.
But people forget he comes into the league and you're like, he's 6-9.
He's kind of a rim protector.
He doesn't need to shoot.
He scores mostly at the rim.
You know how, like, Yokic is like a point center?
He was like a center point.
You're like, okay, he can, he's like a big guy.
And nobody matched up with him.
And then all of a sudden, you know, once again, just like podcasting, he didn't love the game.
He loved what the game provided.
He didn't really love the game.
And then he had an injury.
Then he lost his confidence.
And you're like, wow, this is bad.
We saw the dog before he pulled it up.
One of my favorite documentaries.
Oh, yeah.
He had one of the best college documentaries.
I'm curious, I can go here.
Yeah.
Tre Young, you know, speaking of Tray Young, he kind of ruined that Ben Simmons.
Remember, he went to lock his shot.
Oh, yeah, that.
That's that defense of recovery by Tray Young that we was talking about.
Yeah, that was a turning point.
That was a turner point.
That was right.
Trey Young was a fainted fitter for that day on out.
Yeah.
That is.
The wizers are in good hands.
Look at the cops.
That's a guy.
The Wizards are going to be really good, though.
You don't think they can make the playoffs next year?
Who?
The Wizards.
Where, AD?
In the East.
AD ain't going to be there.
Yeah, I don't think he's going to be there.
Yeah, I don't think he's going to be there.
Yeah, they'll make the playoffs.
Yeah, DeBonsal average 21, Trail, B 23.
They'll be fun to watch.
Damn.
Alex.
Alex.
Is AD going to go?
Y'all keep saying this.
Where is he going to go?
Well, if he wasn't number one pick, you have to get AD.
So who were ever once in a number one?
Nobody's always, look, how many years left in his contract?
He said he's still got to win MVP.
Defense a player to year.
That's what he said.
That's what he said.
No, we heard him.
Shout out of AD.
He's an all-time great defensive player.
All time.
One of the best call.
He's like Cam Newton, his best college football player ever saw.
Him or Vince Young.
Anthony Davis is Cooper Flagg, Anthony Davis.
Like, Wimmy didn't play here.
LeBron didn't play.
If you gave me the best five best players I've seen
college basketball.
It would be a list.
He would be your, he'd be your power forward
in the last decade.
Does I on make it?
Yeah, probably.
He does.
Ricky Z.
Where do you put Carmelo?
Mello makes it.
It'd be a, it'd be a, we'd have a lot of threes.
I was saying, where does Kevin Durant?
Where's Michael Beazza go?
Durant, oh, Kevin Durant, yeah.
Yeah, tough list.
That's a tough list.
We give you all me.
We get that to the point.
Trey Young would be actually one of your better.
Oh, my God.
He was amazing.
He was...
He was...
He was like your point.
Well, he'd be your point.
I know he'd be ours.
He'd be yours.
You know, but it's...
It is funny, but what doesn't transition.
In my heyday, I got a lot of gray hair.
Pearl Washington was the point guard of no.
No.
And the two guard of note was Harold Minor.
Oh, yeah.
Baker, Jordan.
Yep.
So it's interesting, the guys that, you know, like transition.
Yeah.
Very, very few points out of...
college have bombed.
Big guys fail.
Because, you know, like Kwame didn't develop his game.
He dominated high school because he was just physically stronger.
Most points, you've got to have game.
You're not, you know, I mean, you were small when you were eighth grade, very few points, you know.
Why don't you think, like Christian letting him now?
Why didn't he?
Well, Christian was actually good.
He averaged 19 one year.
He's like Keith Van Horn.
People are like, oh, it didn't work.
And you're like, look at his numbers.
And you're like, he's actually okay.
Keith Van Horn.
He scored a lot of.
He scored a lot of points.
Out to the Nets.
Yeah.
But you would say Christian Lennar had a great.
No, no, no.
Okay, but I'll give you a bribe example.
How big he was in college.
Okay.
So, again, he was one of the best college player.
Christian Laitner would be on your starting five all time in college.
You ran out of, he out of, right?
Man, we said five now.
So, Christian Lainter.
K.A.D.A.D. or Christian Laitner?
Oh, no.
No, but.
And Lainter may be second or third best.
I mean, you've got to go to Bill Walton, Alcindor, Christian Layton.
It was cheating.
You still had the team's cheating, bro.
They are cheap.
Christian Leitner was in, I covered him.
I went to those final fours.
He was, I mean, even Tark would tell you.
It was like, there was nobody.
When I covered one time, I covered a Laker Blazer series.
I think it was the legendary series.
And I asked a question of Phil Jackson about how do you stop Rashid Wallace?
And he goes, you don't.
He goes, we don't have an answer for him.
I can remember Tark talking, asking the questions about Christian Laiton.
And he was like, we don't really have an answer for him.
Nobody can stop him.
He took Shaq apart in college.
They met once.
That's a fact.
You'd think of Anthony Davis would have played four years?
He wouldn't have it?
If he would have done it, probably.
Anthony was a great player.
Probably the greatest college defender of all time.
Yeah.
Oh, for sure.
You know, like the entire team here?
Eternvice, yeah.
Easily.
Now, another one, my favorite one is you on the bar ball, man.
Oh, Jesus.
Y'all made magic, man.
Was that moment like for you?
Did you expect if the things that happened on the show
and took place?
Oh, geez.
I logged memory.
I know.
We were there.
It's a very important moment.
Yeah.
Sometimes you just got to let, I mean, listen, he leaned into his thing, and so I leaned
into him.
It wasn't journalism.
It was like, as a funny guy, he's going to say stuff, it's going to go digital,
let him have his runway.
Never lost.
Yeah.
Yeah. That was crazy.
He was called and set that up or somebody brought him to you.
Somebody brought him in.
They said, we're going to bring him on the show today.
And I was like, you know, he's not mean-spirited.
He's funny.
He's almost like a boxing promoter from the 70s or 80s.
Like half of it is just nonsense.
But I liked him.
I thought he was funny.
And, you know, not every guest.
I'm not doing heavy lifting here.
I'm not, you know, I'm not 60 minutes.
It's sports, you know, sports takes.
For sure.
Legendary episodes for sure, man.
How do you feel about the players in the media
going back at it so much now?
Is that new because of what's going on?
Has this been going on behind closed doors?
If you go to Europe, if you go the tabloids of Europe,
the writers and the talk show hosts
and the athletes have been going out of each other for,
you know, we're way more sanitized over here.
You go over to Europe.
I mean, you've had, it gets ugly.
So my take is, I've always said,
I have a right to ask you a question.
question and you have a right not to answer it. I always I have a theory on my whole career,
which is I have opinions. You can have opinions on my opinions. I'm not going to have an opinion
on your opinion on my opinion. I have a takes fire away on it. You can feel any way you want
rip me to shreds. I don't care. I got another 12 minutes to fill. So my my take is sometimes
athletes hate me. Sometimes they don't. My take is rip me. I don't know, like I love K.
but I think he and Aaron Rogers
are sometimes high maintenance.
And I would tell both that.
I'm like, I think you're great.
I'd vote for your Hall of Fame.
But somebody said on my staff the other day,
KD is like a boat.
The best day is the first day I have it
and the first day is selling.
Damn.
The two best days of a boat
are buying it and selling it.
And by the way,
somebody else will buy the boat
because you have amazing moments.
It is awesome.
You kind of feel like cool guy in the neighborhood
when you get in the boat or KD.
And then after about a year,
you're like,
lot of work.
It's expensive.
It's a lot of work.
I don't know if I feel it.
KD.
Oh,
KD.
Think about this.
KD.
KD is maybe.
I know.
I know.
KD.
Royal Caribbean.
Jeff.
KD is as good.
Mark Few told me when he coached the Olympic team.
He said,
even with LeBron.
He goes,
I've never,
and Mark's been at Gonzaga for 28 years,
had 30 pros.
He goes,
I've never seen it.
never got a bad shot in a possession
could give him the ball with two seconds left
he goes even LeBron gets bad shots
so think about that if I told you
there's a basketball player
literally unstoppable
how many teams he'd been on one
and it was six
there's got to be something there
I mean if you if you walked by
and saw the most beautiful woman you're like
it's her fifth husband
he'd be like
oh I mean wouldn't you be like
okay there's something there
well how many of them not
because we gotta go
the number there. They all still here, then we got some talking about. But I mean, honestly, if you,
if you meet somebody in your like, man, I'd be like, maybe she's, I can like him. I can like him.
They were the problem. Yeah. It wasn't hard. Okay, so. A law of averages. Prime example is Houston's net
rating was higher when he didn't play. It's not because of lack of talent. There was clearly a disconnect
between young guys and KD. That's a fact. Like, LeBron's never gone anywhere where the net rating is
better when he leaves. Ever.
So you can bet people always criticize LeBron.
I'm like, time out. He elevates everybody.
He made Matthew Delavadova look viable in the playoffs.
Got him paid too.
You can say LeBron's been on multiple teams.
So that's because LeBron's the greatest talent in 30 years.
And LeBron has chosen where to go.
Katie has made, you know, choices that, like you look at him and you're like,
that didn't make any sense.
Every LeBron decision has made sense.
Now, think about this in basketball culture.
We want to Golden State.
Okay, no, no.
I like that movie.
But then he left Golden State for Brooklyn,
and the reason was, I want to play with my friend.
Now, think about this.
If Mahomes said tomorrow, I'm going to the Jets, why?
I just love throwing to my slot receiver.
You'd go, fuck out of here.
What are you crazy?
You're going to leave it.
You're only, you're only to Andy Reed to go.
And you'd be like, but the basketball culture,
it's understood where you're,
like, he matters.
But what's different, though?
But what's different about it?
There's an old line and all the stuff that comes together with that.
Like, the Jets, they got shit over there.
But respectfully, if you're going to the Jets,
and probably be evaluated.
Yeah, like, there's nothing over there.
They did.
I love it.
I love it.
I'm going to play with Kyrie Irving.
Yeah.
Yeah, but...
And they damn in a world.
Okay, okay.
Long-ass feet is the reason why they didn't go to the chip, bro.
Yeah, I mean, if they didn't get hurt, they probably would be.
my Milwaukee Bucks
who I led to a championship
but other than that.
He was on the team
I think I think I had 50 points
was he late to the bus
But you guys think I don't like Katie
I've said before in the history of the NBA
if you took out centers
and you played a one-on-one tournament
KD would beat LeBron
and Michael
he would be he would win the all-time
you've got to take out centers
everybody plays Lee history
you're going to beat them too
I would say KD would win.
I love KD.
Yeah.
But, I mean, there's the net rating, the Houston stuff, the burner phone, there's a lot of stuff.
Oh, you're messy.
The burner phone.
The burner phone.
Colin.
You could have left that out.
Was he wrong?
I'm not saying he was wrong.
That's not all saying.
The city's telling you're asking.
Are you married?
No.
Are you married?
Yes.
Okay.
There's a lot of questions you'll be asking a marriage.
It's not about being right.
Asked it.
No, no, no, no.
He's married to.
Okay, so you're saying,
there are ways to answer questions.
There are ways to do things.
I'm not saying he was wrong,
but it's a team sport.
No, 100%, that's true.
Yeah, that's true.
So is LeBron going to take a vet minimum?
No, I think.
I don't know why everybody keeps in it like that's even a possible.
He won't take a vet.
But he'll, I think LeBron is,
conflating. He's
LeBron, not that he's
confusing, but LeBron's
like, listen, you got to pay me some respect here. I'm not
taking this.
LeBron's using commerce as respect.
And my take is the ultimate respect
as you age in my space is
giving me better management.
Like I tell young
broadcasters all the time,
don't chase money.
Chase management. There's a sea of money.
There's a finite level. Jamie.
My guy, there's a finite level of talent.
Don't chase money.
So LeBron, I think it's kind of, psychologically, is chasing money for respect.
And I'm like, no, the respect is we think you're so great.
We're going to surround you with people.
We think we can win a title with you.
That's what we think.
We have so much respect.
We can win a title.
But we can't win it if it's just you three because, LeBron, you can't play 44 minutes of defense.
Okay.
So I think you have to, sometimes you have a telescope.
You have to just flip it.
LeBron's looking at it and going, you're not paying me this and that.
And my take is no, flip it.
It is respect.
We think we can win the title, but we have to get two wing defenders.
Like, they're just not athletic enough.
That's true.
Like, they are not athletic.
So you think he's staying in LA.
Like, I would go, because I think he can run a little bit.
I would go get him as a rim defender and then go get a wing defender.
You think he's staying in LA?
I do.
We think he's going on.
We got a theory.
We got the homecoming.
We think he's going back to Cleveland.
Yeah, I predicted that.
He has to go on this last road
And Cleveland has to be
You talk about the lady who has six husbands
Well, this is his old wife
And he loves to go back to her
They've been separated
They got married again
I won't that's why not
I know how that ring feel
Let's get it back
I'm almost out of here anyway
I think it's hard to go from L.A. to Cleveland
I think once you've experienced L.A.
You can hide in L.A.
You know, there's just certain places
Once you go there
Like D. Wade, Miami's like
I'm going to go back to Chicago
It's like it's cold
Like Miami's hard to leave.
It becomes part of, like I have friends that have lived in New Orleans.
Yeah.
Like I go to New Orleans, it's two, three nights, and then I got to, you know, stuff isn't firing.
I don't know.
Right.
Like, so, so, but if you live in New Orleans and you leave the rest of the country is Pleasantville.
Like, New Orleans is food, drink, late.
There's a, voodoo, the whole culture.
So my old take is
When you live in L.A.
It's built for stars.
Gates, topography, hills, hiding, hedges.
Akron is, it's you're trapped.
It's, I mean...
It's LeBron, though.
He's going to be bothered anywhere, though, Carl.
You can't use it as a reason not to go back.
And we need to see Brian.
And he's with a better team.
That James Jr. are going to be nice.
To get another ring in Cleveland?
Nah.
I mean, they're really in.
That's how I like your fans feel about.
I did all get a bubble ring.
Just saying, Carl.
It's like, LeBron, they got one ring.
I'm like, damn, man, be grateful.
We ain't never got whatever.
Shit, I'll take a bubble ring.
For sure.
I don't think he's going to.
I mean, I got one on him.
You think so because of the city.
I think LeBron's family loves it.
I think LeBron was worth $600 million when he moved to L.A.
He's now worth $1.2 billion.
It's L.A. changes.
I mean, he's going to be back in the summer.
I mean.
Yeah, he's just a six-month run.
You act like his life has changed.
His house would be finished by the end.
Yes, bro.

The biggest decisions.
If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team.
And the truth about the U.S. national team.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.

Did I play Austin?
LeBron's never been a go, you know, I should say he's never been a go backwards guy.
LeBron's very aspirational.
Everything about LeBron is going to a kind of growing his brand.
And it feels like to me it'd be a step back.
Like he went to Cleveland because Cleveland,
didn't have a championship. So that wasn't a step back. That was a step forward in kind of
solving or redeeming his reputation in a city he grew up with. Now you're like, well, I'm going to
go, there's a lot of place. I mean, I'll be honest with you. If he went to New York,
Mikhail Bridges Laker, LeBron, New York, biggest stage. New York's not beating the Spurs in
OKC with the current rock. He goes to winning. Winning in New York is different than winning anywhere
in the NBA. The Knicks are going to make 180 million.
million dollars. The Knicks are just based on their home playoff games. That's how much,
that's New York's different. Yeah. Like, I mean, I mean. I want to go. I'd be a Nick.
That's all he got to give up, though, is my name. And you know if LeBron left L.A. for a year,
he'd be the most inspired guy in the league. For sure. He'd play great. And that roster has a lot
of things that. You want to give more to my killed, though. Huh? I'm doing more to my kill.
He's a free agent, though. Corrano is.
McHale and a pick
or I mean
Well no he is a free agent
So he is
Oh shit
I didn't know that
I thought he had
One more year
Do you pay
Austin?
Do you pay him?
Supermax
That's good question
I don't pay him
The Mac
See look
Good question bro
No
But you can't let him go
So you have to pay him
Something
But you don't pay him
Because Luca wants him
Or just because
No
You pay him
Because you
You can't get
Do Alex Caruso
He's better than Alex Caruso
offensively, but they let
Alex Caruso go. You can't let him go. You got to get something. So you're signing
to do it mostly team-friendly deal. They've promoted him, they've
marketed him. He averaged 27. Ain't no team-friendly, nothing.
No. No. What do you get him be here?
No. Now, can you act like the Portland?
Well, but...
This damn, 30, Collins.
Okay, so...
Can you give me a team-friendly, anything.
Get ready to speak. Utah Jazz. We are
signing trading.
You don't have to pay him, though.
Walker Kess who's on his way?
And who else?
Lloyd Marketing.
What?
Lord.
Lord.
Marketing.
Say what you'll give all series.
Well, two 40s to max.
I'd give him 180.
And that would allow me within a year to move him if I had to.
Four year or 180?
Yeah, because the most he can get for another team is 170 for the four years.
Oh, I'd give him over that.
I got you extra 10, but that's a give what you get.
I like that.
Hey, man.
Okay.
All right, man.
I just, you know, team friendly just sound like two, my fucking friends.
I just didn't know where you was going with that.
I would say Team Flex.
I would say team flexible.
Okay.
At 240, you're not.
Yeah, that's not flexible.
No, no, no, you're done.
You can't get nobody else.
Yeah.
I don't think that back court can win, nothing.
At all.
Austin, they can't win the title, no.
They can't.
They're wildly entertaining.
That's a back.
It's a great, like the Knicks and the Lakers, half-court offense,
really fun to watch.
Nicks have better players.
They do.
They have real defensive players.
Josh, Mitchell Robinson, OG.
Lakers don't have,
I have one elite defensive player, Marcus Mark.
That's it.
And he's 30.
That's my boy, Mark.
Andy Andre.
Oh, what we got next?
That's as bad as my, that's as my haliburton.
Dominator.
Before we hear, how do you feel about the AI, man?
AI, I mean like,
helping people's relationships, man.
The AI thing they created.
Have you seen that at Fox?
Oh, it's pretty good.
AI calling me.
Y help people with their relationships.
Pretty good.
Normally be he and helps you with their relationships, so I think we need to make an AI.
There's an AI on your phone.
If you go to Fox Sports and look up.
Yeah.
Okay, I want to check it out.
It's pretty good.
You can ask it.
So you're going to act like Steve Harvey?
No, I mean, it's only sports.
Oh, okay.
Is Steve Harvey relationships?
Yeah.
Well, yeah.
For sure.
Steve and A, too.
Remember Steve and A did the relationship stuff too?
Oh, that was OD.
I don't know.
I would have what happened.
What's your take on the greatest player of all time?
Yes.
As he said, he said, greatest time in 30 years.
It was real specific.
guy said,
yeah,
he said
that far.
Go ahead and say it.
Okay,
so if I said to you,
you need to see what
your call?
Let's just say,
let's just say
LeBron and Michael.
Okay.
One possession,
who would you take?
What are we doing?
One possession.
Am I down?
One, two,
three?
I would take Jordan.
One possession.
No matter what.
One game,
who would you take?
LeBron.
I think I'd take LeBron.
One series?
LeBron has
had bad series, I would take Michael. So one, one possession, Michael, one series Michael,
one game LeBron, because he'll, he's an additive for other people. One season,
Michael wears people out. One contract, LeBron. I mean, Michael wore guys out. LeBron doesn't
wear guys out. So I think there's moments where Michael, because of his killer instinct,
Okay.
But with Michael, you got, he wore people out, right?
LeBron doesn't really, that's not really his vibe.
So if you told me a season or a contract, you had the number one pick.
You had the number one pick.
You stand the drive.
All time?
We just bought the Seattle team.
You got one draft.
All time.
Your number one pick to start your franchise.
You're taking a lot.
Today is the basketball.
However you want it.
Today's basketball.
Okay.
So Michael can't hand check
and Michael has to be able
to shoot threes,
which he never did,
except for the two years
they moved it in.
Not every,
not every player,
like Bill Russell doesn't work today.
Michael today...
You didn't tell me who you pick,
though.
No, what do you got?
Respectful.
LeBron.
Oh.
Now again.
So you said,
Luis.
Louis.
We got them.
We got them.
Do all your stuff right now is the week?
He said LeBron's the greatest player ever.
This thumbnail is going to be legendary.
For sure.
No.
No, two goes for sure, man.
So you're saying, let's say it's 91.
Okay, then it's a hand-check league.
Three-point shot doesn't matter.
The pace is slower.
Half-court, Michael.
I'm mad at that.
That is too different area.
That totally different era.
Now the game's very slow.
It's a half-court.
Lebron is a good.
one of LeBron's advantages is he just gets up the court in his prime faster and he's just he's a freight train
if you remember the first three years he was in the league I didn't think his game was that much fun to watch I just thought he was amazing
but I didn't think his game was like clever it was like he was like a defensive end he would his big play was running down the floor and blocking the ball off the backboard and I remember thinking god is he going to develop a jumper
and then about three or four years he's always been super bright three or four years into the league you're like well he's now shooting jumpers and he doesn't have to
So the game is changing.
But Michael was only, because Michael had big hands.
Guys with big hands don't necessarily shoot threes, Kauai as well.
So Michael, the NBA moved it for two years.
Michael had his highest shooting percentage.
Remember the Portland game when you guys like this,
it was so shocking because Michael wasn't that guy.
So in the old era, when it was a more physical league,
slower pace, half-court offense, that's Michael's league.
Well said.
Before we get out here, guys, some future questions.
Who wins to chip to shoot an NBA?
Okay, see repeat?
For one more year.
Yeah.
And then San Antonio goes in a run.
Do you think it's Winby League after this?
Yep.
And I don't think it's, I think it's obvious.
Do you think he's the greatest talent we've ever seen?
No, I think LeBron's the greatest talent we've ever seen.
I think Wembe has some genetic advantages.
I don't think he'll ever be, you know, he's not, he's inconsistent a little,
he's not always fluid offensively.
I'm going to throw a name out.
This is really going to date me.
Ralph Sampson.
No, not Ralph Sampson.
We saw a little bit of Wemby and a guy named Sam Bowie.
Go YouTube Sam Bowie.
Kentucky, Kentucky, Larry.
He was filling the lane at 7-3.
And I mean pulling up and hitting jumpers.
Yeah.
Like, Ralph wasn't.
Ralph was a total post player.
Yeah.
Sam Bowie, the first time I saw him, I was like, man, he'll shoot a jumper.
But his body fell apart.
Did you think, like, when you've seen that, did you like, yeah, I'd
take him over, Michael.
Wemby?
No, no. You've seen Sam Bull.
No, because they had Drexler, so they were trapped.
Yeah. You know, and I understood it at the time.
I would say about Wembe is, ask yourself this.
Kobe did about 90%, 85% of what Michael did.
But he wasn't quite as strong.
You didn't have the hand size.
So Michael was the stronger player.
There are players, some would say Elgin Baylor did a little bit of LeBron.
there have been players
can do some of what LeBron can do.
There are things that Michael and LeBron
can't do that Wembe can.
Wemby does stuff, those guys like, yeah,
I just can't do it.
So then you get into a space like,
are we just judging on titles
or there are components to Wembe's game
that nobody's done.
I've never seen somebody.
7'4 guys don't have handles.
They don't, they're not that fluid.
Like, that stuff's never been done.
That's Tiger Woods.
hitting out of the rough
280 with the three iron.
You're like, okay, that's just not, nobody else has done that.
Tiger was, I mean, Nicholson hit shots and Nicol.
There was, Tiger had about a 10-year run.
They're like, yeah, that's not been done.
Yeah.
And or duplicated, even with different golf equipment
and Bryson de Shambo's strength, like Tiger was different.
Yeah.
Nah, I like how you broke up in the league.
For sure.
NFL, he won a Super Bowl.
I know it's real early when you guys trained.
Buffalo.
Oh, shit.
Oh, this is the, you know.
year? I gave up on the bills.
This is the year Josh Allen finally gets fun.
Josh Allen let me down every year.
Yeah.
Buffalo or the Rams.
The Rams is bet.
Rams are really good.
Buffalo or the Rams.
I'm surprised Rams.
I will say Dark Horse Detroit because they went and got a really smart O.C.
from Arizona and they solved their left tackle and their GM is brilliant.
Brad Holmes, they have a really good roster.
I think Detroit's going to be the surprise team.
Not surprised because we know they're good.
Yeah.
I think they can win 14 games.
The Niners will be back.
They're getting really old.
No, we're old, for sure.
Ketto's going to be back, though.
I've seen him drinking beers at WrestleMania, so he should be back.
He better be back.
I'm a blue athlete.
Fifth round pick.
He's special.
For sure.
Yeah, the Niners would be back out the way for sure.
Probably not the Super Bowl, for sure.
But listen, man, it was great.
We got to do this, man.
Thank you so much, man.
Glad we got to make this happen, man.
Oh, they told me two days ago.
I'm like, all right, where are we doing it at?
I thought I had to fly to Indy.
They're like, no, he's in our studios.
Pretty nice studios.
No, this is super nice.
That's really nice.
Definitely dope, yeah.
Yeah, after Mark, man,
that don't fly people to India after us no more, man.
So we decided to pull up on you, man,
and get a little trick out there.
Hey, Indies got a great airport.
Oh, the easiest airport.
Number one.
And that was a national, all my lover's respect.
Because that shit, we just went through an LAX?
Oh, no, no.
Holland, I walk from Santa,
Santa Monica.
Did you fly American?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
American spent 300 million to update it.
And I always say, if you had a bad hip, let's say you're 75 years old, you get off
your flight in American, you have a bad hip.
Yeah.
How do you get outside?
You don't?
That is the longest walk.
And that's somebody with a bad hip.
He just diagnosed.
You're a big cook.
I just did.
NBA combine, my hip is good,
they try to redraft me this year, bro.
I jumped a 32 inch vertical, bro.
32.
Yeah, you had a better combine this time around than the first time.
Yeah, I don't know what I was doing in 09,
but I need to relax because I was bullshit.
I don't know how they drafted me.
I'm like, I got drafted.
What was your vertical in?
30.
Yeah.
Then I had a running vertical at 36, and I think I ran,
it was, what, 34?
And you have a better vertical now?
Yes.
Huh?
Crazy.
Is that nutrition?
Do you work out?
Yeah, I worked out, but I don't know what the hell I was doing.
Oh, no.
I must didn't give it to him down.
It was crazy seeing them numbers, though.
I was kind of shocked.
Do you still play?
No.
I might be with 10-day, though.
Oh, Lord.
I know what team you're going to?
Who?
Second middle kid.
They take all the O players.
We have a run a joke.
If you're doing bad in your spot, you're going to the Keys.
That's what portray you to for sure, man.
Listen, man.
We can make this happen.
Got to do it again for a short minute.
Shout to our family at BoothoSmobile.
Shout out to Hard Rock Bet.
Shout out to Stock X.
One more time for the Valuam family.
We're here in studio for the one-time Club 520.
We're out.

Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

And now the PodMeets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV,
and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor.
I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor knowledge.
That is the point of the show.
I'm just going to remind you.
Again, we are experts.

This week, AZ Fud and I sat down with Step and Curry.
Step talks pressure, confidence, and what it really takes to stay great.
There's different categories, I guess, so I'm like conditioning,
shooting drills where you try to simulate kind of games.
Look at her face.
We have a love-hate relationship with those
because you know you're getting something out of it.
You don't look forward to those days.
