Yo, yo, yo, thought warriors.
What is up?
Higher Learning is on, is I. Van Lankton, Jr.?
And it's me, Rachel and Lindsay.
We should, we should, we should notice something right now.
There's a light on Jade and Bernard.
There's a light on you guys right now.
You guys got lighting.
What's going on here?
There's no light.
There's a light.
There's a light.
There's a light.
There's a light.
Are you guys, is everybody fucking nuts?
I'm looking at a light right there, shine.
on you guys. It's not open all the way. Yeah, it's not open. Like, what is this light about?
You know, we were in a different studio last week. People really love to see our faces.
You know, look like brothers and sisters.
So people love to see, that was the comments. People love to see you guys his faces.
That's what people said. So they, people say we look like siblings. They look like siblings.
So you guys lit yourselves and put a camera on yourselves and just didn't tell anyone.
That's some Gen Z shit, huh? Without.
Hold on. Hold on. Let's have this family meeting together. You guys brought in a light, put the light on there, turn the camera, which has never been turned in this room before, on yourselves.
Not in this room. Not in this room. I just didn't say anything.
I actually was not aware. I just ran in here. Now, what I want you all to do is camera. It's camera pointing to him right there. I want you guys, and I'm going to say this on camera, I want you guys, and I'm going to say this on camera, I want you to take that much initiative in everything.
and everything.
See that?
I want you guys to take that much initiative
in absolutely everything.
I come in this bitch.
It's a light.
It's a camera pointed to Jane.
Bernard.
Look at Bernard,
like throwing his hair, whipping his hair back and forth.
I see you over there.
Look at you.
You like, Bernard ran here.
He said that he was all glistening
because he ran.
I think you probably put like special
moisturizer on your face
because you know you're on camera.
Now I see a child trying to boss up.
I'm not going to stand in the way.
He texted me.
He texted me.
He texted you.
To say what?
There was a fight on the train.
Oh, I got to hear the story.
I thought you meant like to coordinate outfits or something.
Wait for the cops to get off and then, yeah, I literally said I might be late or literally
one minute all the time.
Oh, because there was a fight on the train.
What happened?
I was delayed, so the train just stopped.
So we had to wait for the cops.
Who was fighting?
I don't know.
Two people.
Do you didn't see it?
No, they was in the cart in front of me.
Oh, it was in car in front of you didn't see the fight.
It was going on.
But look at that.
I come in here and it's like.
everything gets set up and everybody's like
people like saying our faces so yeah just
you know just remember now look
I have no issue with it no issue
with it at all but
now when some shit is
like slow or lacking or not
getting done you have set a rubric
for me to be able
to be like oh
I have to ask you to set
that light Jay was in this bitch this morning
like Martin Scorsese
setting the light doing the whole
fucking camera the whole nine
I'm like, didn't nobody have to ask you to do that?
Damn.
I love it.
Okay, cool, I'm fucking with it.
Let's try something new.
Backhanded compliments.
Oh, God.
No, it wasn't a compliment at all.
It was an observation.
It was an observation.
Let's try it, though.
Rachel, you're down with it?
Sure.
Yeah.
She's going to hear about it.
She didn't, that wasn't a very enthusiastic sure.
I'm just letting you guys know.
I'm just letting you guys know.
Like, it wasn't a very enthusiastic sure.
No.
It wasn't a very enthusiastic.
I'm just letting you guys.
No, you're going to hear about it.
You ever know when you're, like, you know,
something happens at school and you call your mom.
And she's like, yeah, we'll talk about it when you get home.
My dad never did that.
My dad was like, oh, okay, like when I get back, you're fucked up.
You're like, you're fucked up.
You'll be fucked up.
And then half the times he would say that, and then he would forget.
He would come, like, I'm telling you.
That never happened from me.
My dad, I will come home and I'll be sitting there.
He'd be like, boy, what's wrong with you?
I'd be like I'm
scared
He'd like, what's you?
It goes, oh
I don't know, Daddy had a lot on his mind
Now I don't even care no more
You don't get your ass out there and do something
And then that would be it
He would forget
Mom never forgot
But mom will play it cool like you're doing
And then later on in the meeting
Just when you get comfortable
Just when you get comfortable
Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh
Uh-uh-uh
Come here
Crazy shit
What did you do this weekend?
Um
I've been a little under the weather,
but I went to a birthday party
and fantasy football
I had a fantasy football draft yesterday.
That was really it.
I was really chilling.
Fantasy football draft
under the weather,
still got out to the party.
Birthday party.
Whose birthday?
Savannah James.
Oh, shit.
So look, you have to,
in L.A.,
especially when you know a lot of people,
I feel like you have to stagger
are the birthday parties.
Can't just go to everybody's birthday party.
You can't go to everybody.
Too many birthday parties.
Everybody's having a birthday.
Everybody is my birthday month.
People going crazy.
You got staggered the birthday parties.
It like comes in droves.
April's a big month.
A lot of birthdays.
September is going to be bad.
August usually gets into it.
I don't know what's going on.
But yeah, a lot of birthdays,
a lot of birthdays.
But Savannah James's birthday party
is one you would have to go to.
What was that like?
I was a plus one.
So it wasn't like I was just invited like that.
It was really fun.
I think what I like the best is that it felt very much like it didn't feel like a Hollywood party.
It felt like these are people.
This is family.
This is friends.
The DJs were great.
They played a lot of music from like our era.
It was a lot of like Southern music.
So it was like everybody was rapping along, dancing, singing.
It felt it was a really, really good time.
Elegant, beautiful wife and mother.
Happy birthday to Savannah James.
Stunning.
Yeah, happy birthday, Syracian.
A lot of news is breaking all over the place.
There's a lot of stuff that's happening.
As we're jumping on, Lionel Messi has retired from Argentina.
He's no longer going to be playing.
He's officially retired from international soccer at 39.
He's done.
It's it.
He's accomplished almost everything you can accomplish in soccer and in sport, and he's done.
Rachel, you have any thoughts?
No.
Zero thoughts.
I mean, I think it was to be a.
expected. I don't really think people thought he was coming back. I think maybe people hoped he
was going to come back. But just the run that they had, I knew that he had been outspoken about the
death of his father and how that impacted him. He has played for a very long time, much longer than
most soccer players play and at an elite level. I just think he just weighed things out. He's got young
kids. He's married. It's very unlikely that they would have the run that they did again. We've got to wait
another four years for the World Cup.
It's just like, I expected this.
So I wasn't shocked when I saw this happen this morning.
But I'm also not a huge football fan,
so it doesn't hit me the same as I'm sure it does.
A lot of people who are super fans of him
and just the sport in general.
Like, he has defined the sport for such a long time.
So I'm sure it's curious.
But I mean, you've got like, oh my gosh, Yamin.
you know, like young players like that coming up
that are starting to define it.
I will say this, though.
With all the talk around Argentina
and the way they lost
and the bad sportsmanship
and the history of Argentina,
I wonder for not as well-versed football fans
if this leaves kind of a sour taste in their mouth.
In what regard?
Argentina.
I'm not taking away from his whole legacy,
but I'm just saying there was a lot of social media.
know if you guys saw it, just a lot about, I got a lot of compilations of like,
Messi being a bad sport, messy and the way he handles other teams versus, like,
there was this whole thing with like Christian Ronaldo versus Messi and how they are as,
their sportsmanship on, when they play other teams and like the way that they help other
players up or the way they deal with refs or the way they deal with fouls. And I was like,
gosh, is that how it really is? Because I don't know as much. But that was all through my
algorithm and I don't know if some of that rhetoric was because of the cloud that is over dark cloud
that is over Argentina and the history that they have and so people are just like looking for things
and bringing them up but that is kind of what I saw towards the end and I just wonder if that
not it's not going to ruin his legacy he's even playing for so long but just kind of like an asterisk
wow all right sorry Argentina with them big nigger burrubes.
Man, a big niggerberg.
So, no, the answer is no.
Nothing can ruin his legacy.
He is beyond decorated and beyond loved, really.
Interesting, comparing him to Ronaldo in terms of how they are perceived off of the pitch,
Ronaldo is a fucking villain.
He is like a, like a, Ronaldo has got all kinds of off the pitch issues, all kinds of different shit.
We should say that Messi is not retiring from soccer.
entirely he's retiring from the Argentine national team.
He still would be playing for Inter Milan and Miami.
He won the tournament in 22.
They got to the finals in 14 and in 26.
So he's had an incredible amount of success.
I personally think right now that Messi has probably one of the most ironclad
legacies of any athlete in any sport, period.
You could argue, argue, argue.
I'm not saying this is true, that Messi is the best at his sport of all time.
Now, there are other guys that are in that argument.
Phelps, Bolt, Jordan, Gretzky, but the argument of Serena Williams,
the argument of who is the best at their sport ever,
the greatest of all time of the thing that they do, Messi's in that argument.
he's definitely in that argument for sure
so he's still playing soccer
yeah what are we doing
he's retiring from
I get it the national team I get it
but he's still playing soccer
you still get to see messy
but not with the national team
this why I shouldn't even be talking about this
oh first of all
we're talking about it because I guess it's on the rundown
I know nothing about soccer I'm giving a perspective
of people who don't know much
and just like see stuff on social
which is what I was saying I saw a lot of that
That was literally my entire algorithm.
I guess because I was looking at a bunch of anti-Argentina stuff
because of everything that was coming out with the World Cup.
And he's still playing.
He's still playing soccer.
Yes, he's playing for Inter-Miland.
Inner Miami, should I say?
Milan is in.
He's playing for Inter-Miammy.
What?
International soccer is a much, much, much bigger deal.
This is a big nigger nothing burger.
Oh, wow.
He's still playing.
I get it.
I get it.
I get it. He won't be wearing that jersey anymore, but he still play.
But do you understand the differences between international soccer? Yes, but I thought he was retiring
from soccer altogether. Right.
Yes, I understand the difference.
All right. Okay, let me ask, let me do this. What if LeBron James retired from the NBA
but still play for Team USA? Would that be a big deal?
Well, that's the opposite.
I understand. But it is also the opposite in international soccer in terms of importance.
Would that be a big deal?
Let's say LeBron James retired from the NBA,
but yet he still wanted, he was going to play for team.
You know why that's hard to say?
I get that you're saying that there's a flip,
but how often does the national team play?
So, but.
As opposed to they, he'll be playing every year.
But what I'm saying is, though,
you could still see LeBron James play basketball.
Every four years.
You'll see messy every year.
Maybe you'd still see him play every four years,
but then he'd also play in the Fiba America Cup
and all of that stuff, you could still see LeBron play.
But what I'm saying is, though, is that in this situation,
is that in this situation, even though you could still see LeBron James play basketball,
let's say, okay, forget about that.
Let's say LeBron James retired from the NBA,
but then he played, he went overseas and played.
Would it be a big deal that he retired from the NBA?
Yeah, I get that it's a big deal, but I'm just saying,
I'm over here talking like he's done playing at all,
and then you hit me with the 08.
it's just for the national team.
I'm like, okay.
I get it.
I get it.
To the soccer people,
how I started talking originally
was that he was done completely.
Okay.
Let's go to the other football now.
Yeah, let's go to something I actually know.
Like,
and I'm not blindsided with the topic.
You're not,
how are you blindsided with the topic?
I didn't know we were going to talk about this one.
Jade is the one.
I had no idea we're going to talk about this.
It's breaking news.
I get it.
I'm just saying.
breaking news about clearly
I don't think something that
I don't pay attention to
which is why I had no idea
that he was still playing soccer altogether
I saw the headline
Messy retires and I was like oh he's up
I just read it off of the thing
Jay put it in the thing
Jake you want to speak up for yourself
yeah I'm sorry Rachel I'm sorry
but I'm trying to find something
I saw it breaking and I was like oh this might be
no it's breaking news I should have just said
you should have just said what do you think I should have said nothing
well you had a take
I had to take it.
You had a take.
But then it was, just to let you know, he's still playing.
But that right there is actually, and do you have the rundown up?
I'm not reading the, I don't read off the rundown like that.
You drive the show.
But I just, I'm just saying.
Tough.
They're going to be mad at me.
Why are they going to be mad?
Nobody's going to be mad.
Who cares?
Who cares if they're mad?
I don't watch soccer.
Okay.
I have actually become an expert.
The world's, a self-proclaimed expert.
The world's foremost voice on the sport.
So if you guys want to ask me to name 10 players, I can't do it anyway.
So, Drewski.
Drusky is back with another incredibly socially consequential skit.
These skits are movies now and they're rolling people up.
Jade?
Drewski is facing mixed reactions over a viral football skit about concussions and CTE,
the generative brain disease linked to repeated head trauma in a sketch.
He plays fictional running back Ray Price,
whose behavior becomes increasingly erratic after suffering head injuries.
Let's take a look.
Second down to 10.
From going, well, maybe this guy can do it to know he can do it.
Oh, my goodness.
Helmets out, falls out.
And a penalty comes flying in.
Helmet to helmet hits are just part of tackling.
watch the way he goes to the ground.
He doesn't move.
That does it, folks.
Not sure if Ray Price will remember this.
Concussions like that tend to stay with you far into the postseason.
This nigga me in.
Fuck you, glam it.
I ain't taste on that horse feed, you, what?
Yes, sir!
Breaking news, this just in.
A gold Ferrari is heading southbound on I-85.
Former running back.
Ray Price shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
I think about how far we are moving the way.
I'm a camera and a group of people in an apartment.
They try to say all crazy, right?
Yeah, I'm going to give it.
Ah ha ha!
Woo hoo hoo hoo!
And I got shot.
So my shelf.
All praise to the most high.
All praise to the most high.
Fuck!
I just want to talk, man.
I swear to God I just want to talk.
What the fuck are you?
What are you doing?
Oh, what is my shit?
Holy shit.
We need to show the whole shit.
A lot of people were pissed.
A lot of ex-players, not a lot of people were pissed.
I've heard some ex-player said that maybe this was a little insensitive.
What do you think?
You laughed.
Yeah, not at all.
Not in any way, shape, or form.
I saw people either laugh, just pure comedy.
I saw people say it was insensitive.
Totally get it.
Especially former football players who might have either lost someone who once their brain was
examine that they had a CTE who've played in the NFL, all of that, I get it.
But then I saw another side of it, which is where I'm Orleaned, that it was comedy, but it was
bringing awareness to an actual issue for a league that isn't truly addressing an issue that starts
in Pop Warner and high school.
That's how I took it.
I feel like, and I think some people who are getting upset, not former players, are
maybe having to look at a sport that they love face to face in the mirror.
I mean, and then, and I think this was, I think I saw Jade put this in the notes,
that it's coming out, the timing of it, of this new report that said one and four NFL players
have CTE.
Right.
So.
I don't know if it's NFL or just football.
Actually, let's look at it.
So a couple of things here.
Number one, if you have somebody that you're close to, you play with someone who, you know, you've been around somebody, they suffer from CTE, and you've watched them either spiral or they've met their end in a very tragic way.
It was found out later that they had CTE.
We've seen some cases of that.
Then I understand how this could be triggering, right?
Of course.
All right.
I completely get that.
And you hold space for people that have that response to it.
There's another part of this, and the fact is that, like, we watch these guys, pay for these guys, pay money to watch these guys, like, shorten their lives.
That shorten their lives on the football field.
It's a part of it.
It's a part of the game.
They've done as much as they can do.
It seems like they have, or at least they feign that they have, to make the game as safe as possible.
Even you see with some of the different equipment that's out right now, some of the rule changes and stuff like that.
And just this overall feeling of player safety being something that was more prioritized than it was in the past.
But that's a part of the game.
Part of the game is these collisions and CTE is going to result from that.
But the NFL won't really be honest about it.
They won't have a real cultural conversation about it, right, about what the players are going through because the players are essentially mules that go out there well compensated, right?
that go out there and put their bodies through hell
and then a lot of times shorten their lives.
Give me an example of something that's a little uncomfortable talk about.
And I certainly don't want to come off.
Fuck it.
Chris Johnson, the running back, has Parkinson's disease.
No, excuse me, he has ALS.
He has ALS.
And Michael Shrayhan went and did an interview.
with him. I thought the interview was
amazing
and all of our hearts go out to Chris Johnson
and what he's going through
with ALS
and we should be supportive of research
to figure out what we can do about ALS
and advance research to a point to where there's some sort of treatment.
A lot of people had problems with the fact
that in that interview
Michael Strahan didn't ask about the fact
that your chances of developing ALS
rise dramatically
if you've played football
if you've played NFL football.
Now, I personally
don't think that
when Chris Johnson is sitting down
and making this really
personal
announcement to the entire world
that might not be the best place
to ask that question. A lot of people thought that it was.
That might not be the best place to ask that question.
I think it's about Chris Johnson and his family
and talking about this the way they want to talk about it.
But somebody should be asking them.
question. Somebody should be asking the question about how you're going to live after you put the
helmet and the pads down. Somebody should be talking about that. And as part of that conversation
with Chris Johnson, what I wouldn't have minded was either a follow-up with someone different. I don't
think Chris Johnson should have to answer the question about how ALS, whether or not he would have
played football. I don't think he has to answer that question, right? But I don't think he has to answer that question, right?
But I do think someone should have to answer the question.
And to me, because they won't do it, we obviously see players.
And we sometimes people joke about this.
We obviously see players who've had distinct personality changes since they played in the NFL.
And we're left to wonder, like, whether or not CTE is affecting their behavior.
And they're still around here.
They're still with the girls.
They're still doing all of this stuff.
there's still, obviously, a lot of people are going to look at that and think that they're talking about that he's referencing Antonio Brown.
He's absolutely emulating specific players.
Right.
So, like, somebody has to have the conversation about the brain health of NBA players, of NFL players.
I mean, there's a whole movie on it, and we still don't even talk about it.
And, like, part of the movie was about how the doctor who was discovering it was silenced and ignored and kind of, you know, they didn't want him to be as outspoken as he was about it.
I mean, here's the thing.
I totally agree with you about that Chris Johnson interview
because to sit there and ask him questions about almost like,
would you have done something different or do you regret it?
It's like, how can you sit there and ask somebody that?
Because I think when you're looking at people who are,
decides to play football and then spend their majority of their life playing it,
and then if they're lucky enough, go on to play professionally,
when you look at a risk reward situation, the reward always outweighs the risk.
Because even if you play the average amount of time in a league, which is between three
and four years, you're making six figures for a lot of people, that is life-changing money
that enter the league.
And they're able to help out their families.
They're able to change their situation.
And they are willing to take that risk if they can do it.
Because a lot of times, Chris Johnson, much younger, this is happening to him, these health effects are happening to him.
But a lot of times it's long-term effects before they ever see that their health is deteriorating,
whether it be like an ALS or something mentally or just a behavioral change in general.
And so, like, I think that's something that is so unfair to sit there and ask him or even put that on him
when you don't even know the situation of the person who might be making this decision to better himself and his family,
to change the entire course and create generational wealth for his family.
The second part of that is when you're talking about answers, it's, yes, the NFL has responded by changing rules
and creating certain equipment and having certain protocols that address concussions that happen right then in.
there to prevent that. And there are statistics that show that concussions are down in the NFL.
But research shows that that's not what needs to be addressed. It's when they start playing
football. So it's, I guess you can say Pop Warner if you do that, but it's junior high,
school, it's college, it's those concussions, those hits that add up that by the time to they
get to the NFL, most of the time, it's already too late because they've been
doing this for years. That's what the research shows. Why are you smiling? This is such an
interesting response. Why? When you start smirking? I'm like, what are you smirking about?
Why are you, like, it can't just be all the way real? Yes. Why are you doing so much work for the
NFL? I'm actually criticizing the NFL. It doesn't feel like it. I'm literally saying the NFL is
bragging about the fact that concussions are down because they've created protocol and rules and equipment
to address current concussions.
But that is not where research shows CTE starts.
It starts young in high school.
So I'm criticizing the NFL saying they're trying to address it right now
or they're bragging about that.
But there is a lot of research that shows that is not where it needs to be addressed.
It needs to be addressed before that.
And I'm about to criticize them even more.
When you look at, okay, so I looked into this,
like players are outspoken.
And of course, families of individuals who suffer from CTE are outspoken.
But I was like, what is the NFLPA saying about this?
And of course, they've done a call to action, specifically in response to this new study that's come out that one in four NFL athletes will suffer from CTE.
They've done a call to action and a call to the league.
But they also tow the line because the very players that make this up are dependent on this very sport for income.
So it's not a fool like they have to be careful.
with it because it's the livelihood of the players.
Then I looked into the owners.
What are the owners saying about this?
Absolutely nothing.
The league, of course, as I just said,
is bragging about changes that they've made,
and that is something that's commendable,
but at the end of the day,
you know that research is showing it's actually before that.
Why are you not investing money into high school and college?
So it's not already too late by the time they get to you.
You can brag about your yearly statistics,
but what about the damage that's our school?
already been done before. Owners have been silent on it. Why are owners silent on it? Because
the league is on track to make $25 billion in 2027, setting a record. Roger Goodell, that was his
goal, and they're about to do that in the next season. So it's like, of course they're going to be
silent because to your point, these players are mules, and they're looking at the whole risk
reward thing and knowing that a lot of these players, this is going to benefit their athletes,
benefit their lives.
So, yeah, we'll throw some money your way towards, you know,
concussion settlement or some type of whatever the thing that they do with the insurance
thing that you can apply to, which is extremely hard to do.
I was dating a player who took him years to even get that type of insurance.
And it's still not enough money if you have some type of like critical,
critical long-term health issues.
But the amount that they're even putting towards concussion settlements,
is like a 20th of what they make as far as like the 25 billion that they're on track to.
So I'm actually criticizing the NFL here.
I apologize.
Let me tell you a couple of things.
Number one, I think, whereas I don't think it was appropriate to ask Chris Johnson that question,
I do think that the risk reward is what we're litigating.
So if you were to ask somebody right now, if they would take making $40, 50 million in the NFL, let's say $100 million.
Say $100 million.
It's like a far out contract, right?
So you made $100 million in the NFL, but you have to be stricken with ALS at 39.
and not only are you stricken with ALS at 39,
but everybody around you, everyone, your entire family,
that sure has a lot of money,
they have to deal with watching you go through this disease
that doesn't have any type of cure, right?
You have to go through this condition, more so I'm not a doctor.
I think that being framed as the choice is ALS, CTE, whatever it would be,
because a lot of the stuff they were talking about,
sometimes it's being addicted to prescription drugs or painkillers or whatever,
a lot of things that come with that.
That being framed as the choice is what a lot of people are talking about.
Can we discuss that that is a choice?
That doesn't happen to every single player,
but the chances of it happening to you are so incredible.
that, yeah, the risk is there, but we don't talk about the risk.
The risk is what denotes the conversation.
The risk is the conversation.
Because there are a lot of people that are out there and they're playing the game
and they know they're going to get injuries.
They know they're going to be scrutinized for winning and losing.
Those are the things that they think when they're talking about football.
They don't think about debilitating brain injuries or they don't think about
debilitating nervous system injuries when you're 37, 38 years old.
They don't think about making money to be able to provide for sons that you'll never be able to play catch with when they start to come of age, right?
They don't think about those things.
Then those things visit them.
So the risk, to me, is what we're discussing.
I think knowing that that comes along with playing football at this level, I don't know that a lot of people, I don't know that we've delved into that in any real way.
I think that you see Steve Gleason, you see Chris Johnson, you see other people, but I don't know that we have a conversation about the fact that your chances of being in this situation at the end of your life are that much higher and that is the risk that you're taking.
And when even if we did talk about that,
we would then, off the back of that,
have to have a conversation about what it would mean to try to mitigate that a little bit.
Like, does that mean that the games that the NFL has added to the schedule,
the extra game, that they, we don't do that.
Does that mean that like we look at preseason a little bit differently?
Does that mean that we look at how, because all of this is for the NFL, right?
the NFL can't regulate high school or college football or middle school football, but they are,
without them, that stuff doesn't really exist.
I mean, there are cultures of high school football and college football and all of that stuff
that are, that rival the NFL, that basically their own deals.
But if you can't go to some place like the NFL, how many people are going to even take
those chances because you don't have the shining examples of what it means to completely change
your life, whatever?
I say all this to say that at some point those questions have to be asked and the players have to be better educated on what the risks are.
But they will not be if there's not a cultural conversation on what those risks are.
And I'll say this as well.
I think the vast majority of NFL players don't get out of it what they put their body into it.
Yeah.
So, like, if you play in the NFL for three years,
I'm sure you got something out of it that, like, you wouldn't have gotten.
But, man, for the amount of football that you had to play to get there.
Exactly.
And, like, what you got through when you get there,
I'm not so sure that I would say that those players,
that a lot of those guys got back an investment into their bodies
that they put in it in over decades.
Very few.
Yeah.
That's why the average is like a little over three years to play.
Most players are not even making a million dollars.
And then obviously, you know, you give to your agent, your attorney, your manager,
whoever it may be, you give to your family.
Taxes, it really goes away fast.
But to your point, I do think education is key.
And know the NFL can't regulate high schools or NCAA,
but it can educate.
There can be a working within these systems to,
let these young athletes know because when you're that young, you think you're invincible.
We all do, even when you're not an athlete.
When you're young, you don't think about things unless like you live in a certain place
of your environment and your experience allows you to see these kinds of things like right
in your neighborhood, your front door, whatever it may be.
But most kids think that they're invincible.
So they look at a Chris Johnson or another player who's been impacted as that's so far away
or it's more likely than not that that's going to happen to me.
And that's why the education is so important
and the NFL could work to provide,
at least say you're providing, doing something to teach these young athletes.
This is a possibility.
This is a new study that came out.
And it may or may not deter them because for that athlete,
the reward might be greater for them.
They might want to take their chance.
But at least you're giving them the option of understanding
the risk on the other side.
We talk about injury while you're playing.
You don't talk about the injury when you're not.
Right.
Look, you guys not know how I feel about this.
I'm going to spare you guys this week of doing it.
But, you know, like...
You touched on it.
If you do not care about how somebody lives
and the quality of life and the betterment of their life,
if you only care what you can get out of them
for your own money, this is the way it goes.
And so that's why they stay in the dark on things that can happen to them.
That's why.
Player safety is not a big deal because player safety is meaningless to the NFL.
It's, yeah.
I mean, it's important for the quarterback.
That's your money-making position.
So don't touch him.
You know what I'm saying?
But as far as everybody else, this is what can happen.
But I think we probably wouldn't be having this conversation if Jerusalem didn't do the skit.
I think the skit was targeted.
it's difficult to look at sometimes like the way a lot of those things are but I think that's why
he's doing what he's doing and I also like the fact that once again he does not come back and
answer or answer questions about it whatever for the skit there's something we need to talk about
okay this is the next this is speaking of football yeah speaking of football federal prosecutors
have charged 35 year old dejon love with allegedly posing as a san francisco 49ers player
and wealthy investor to scam women he met on dating apps.
His alleged accomplice 18-year-old Taylor Chan
is accused of posing as his financial advisor.
Thoughts.
Is this a stain on women kind?
I mean, the conversation has reignited the gender wars.
Wow.
Tough.
The gender wars are, you know,
you know it hits gender wars when that account the city boys post it.
City boys are up.
If you're city boys, you have to take,
you have to take a victory lap on this.
If you're the city boys.
Yeah, city boys think they're up with this one.
Yeah.
I went down a dark hole watching these videos about him.
Yeah.
It's funny.
It's funny.
It's wild.
Yeah.
It's the, even if he wasn't an NFL player or whatever,
I would be highly annoyed at a man who's constantly,
telling me how much everything is he has. There are videos where he's like, that bed is 10,000,
that TV is, that TV's 8,000. See, I collect these right here. Here's a set of car keys,
and he has different key fobs of all these expenses. Who does that? First off, you wouldn't even
put him on the same chain, but he's like, I got this one, it's this much. This is about a million
dollars worth the cars right here. Like, that alone would drive me insane. If you're
somebody I was trying to forget like me trying to do the research on you.
I would just be heavily annoyed with how much,
how you keep dropping your money.
But people fall for this kind of thing.
Yeah.
Both ways.
Like this isn't an indictment on women to me or on men to me.
I'm not going to do the gender wars thing because I think both sides have fallen victim
to this.
From women have done this to men, men have done this to women.
Women have done this to men in what way?
So I was looking at-
Like catfishing?
cat fishing or I was,
Shady was talking about this and he was like,
I love Dijan love.
And he was like, the reason I love him is because
I have had so many women do this to me.
And what he was saying was he was like, women,
well, I'll see them and they'll have like a house
in the car and, you know, like talking about their job
and they're entrepreneurs and they'll have all these bags.
And I look at them and I'm like, oh, they've got it all together.
you know, like, you know, she provides for herself, she holds her own, and he's like, and then I get
with her, and she has nothing. It's like all a facade. So that's what I mean. Like, you see women who
present a lifestyle to attract a certain type of person that they don't really have to. It goes both
ways. So I'm not here to indict men. I'm not here to indict women. I think it's just sad in general
when you see these kind of things happen in the people who fall victim to it. Because it speaks to a bigger
issue of loneliness and taking advantage of people who are vulnerable and desperate to be loved,
to have a partner for human connection.
And I think that's why it keeps happening and it's going to happen.
Sometimes people can be so desperate that they'll ignore the red flags that are so obvious
just because they love the attention that they're getting, whether it's like a pig-butchering
scheme or it's the tender swindler or it's the Dejohn love.
and now they're finding other guys doing it,
or it's the Manti Tao of it all.
Did I say his name right?
It's not wrong for some reason.
The Mantao Teo thing I think was a lie, though.
I think he invented the girlfriend.
You do?
Yeah.
Was that in the documentary?
I think he invented the girlfriend.
By the way, just let you know
there's other niggas that have invented girlfriend.
Let's just say he did it, which is even crazier.
But I wanted to give an example of something happening to a man,
like a catfishing thing.
But the Brad Pitt thing, where the women thought they were dating Brad Pitt,
just like people, I think, are so desperate for human connection.
And there's so many ways, and this speaks to the other side of it, of technology,
of ways to do deep fakes and AI and all of that,
that we're going to keep seeing things like this happen.
And it's actually really sad at the end of the day.
Yeah, I don't know that this has much to do with people being desperate for connection, though,
because, like, you can connect.
He don't have to play for the 49ers.
He doesn't.
That was the one scheme.
Yeah.
So like,
And I gave other examples where they didn't.
Yeah.
But I'm saying in this situation right here,
you want to connect with somebody who played for the 49ers.
That's what he thinks.
We don't know what these 20s say.
We don't know that they only were with him because he played for the 49ers.
He also was bragging about his houses, his cars, his, like the well.
That's a result of playing for the 49ers, which by the way.
It could just be a rich man.
It could have been.
Okay, well, fine.
You want to connect because he's rich.
And like that, by the way,
I don't have no problem with that.
But at the same time,
like, the only pushback I'll give to that is
they were giving him money.
So, like, this is what I mean about people will ignore stuff.
How rich can the man be if you're giving him money?
I understand.
But, like, when I'm saying is...
That's why I'm just desperate for the attention.
It's like, I don't know how much it has to do
with, like, all the connection stuff.
Because even this is the deal.
I don't understand what makes people give people money in this way.
I don't.
I don't understand what makes people give people.
I know people that have been victim to stuff like this.
Giving people money, like, I'm not coming down on that.
Do whatever you want to do with your money.
I'm not coming down, doing whatever you have to do with your money.
But $1.3 million, 26 women across multiple states.
One of the reasons why you would give a guy like this money is because you think that he has money.
So like thinking that he has money, hey, I need this.
Guys, I'm telling you right now, there are not very many.
millionaire NFL players that's going to come to ask you for full $5,000.
It just don't work like that, but whatever.
But there is a part of this to where he's using people who want a rich man.
He's weaponizing that and getting these women to step out of their bodies for it.
And there is something to be, just like there is, and any time people are, there's something
to be said about your expectations in relationships or what it is that you are moving
towards or aspiring to be with
or around and how that can be weaponized
against you and turned against you. And I guess the only
reason I
obviously him playing for the 49ers and the videos
of him, you know, doing his
workouts is like what becomes funny
and is getting people's attention.
And the reason I speak to like the broader
pattern of it all, one, because I
know people like
successful
smart, beautiful
women who
were so vulnerable
because and wanted to talk to somebody that and like because this is what these people do is they love bomb you.
So it's not just about oh, I'm telling you what that I'm in, you know, a high, I'm with a high profile team.
I'm with the NFL team and it and I make all this money.
It's also the love bombing that comes with it of getting the attention and the romance and then you're getting attention from somebody who is also successful.
also doing well for themselves
in a way that you haven't before.
And then you slowly let your guard down
and you think, oh, they really like me.
They want me to invest
in what they're doing
because this is how they made their money
outside of the sport or whatever.
And I guess because I know people
that it's happened to, that's why I say.
But don't you feel like there's a different response
to this to gender war it up
when a man gets caught up in this
and when a woman does?
When a man gets caught up in this
is like, like,
So a man gets catfished and it's like, how stupid are you to think that that woman will want you?
That's how people are talking about these women.
Right.
But what I'm saying is in this situation right here, I feel like these type of guys, like DM in women, it happens.
Right.
So they wouldn't think necessarily, I saw some of these ladies, they wouldn't think necessarily that they wouldn't be.
I think at the point that they get to where they're sending him money, you should be asking some questions about yourself.
And also I will say this.
This guy is probably
casting such a wide net
that he's probably trying this so
much that these 26 is going
to be some people out there like this. But I do
think, like even what you're talking about to
how vulnerable people are and stuff like that,
I do think that a lot of times
when men show up like that
or in situations
like this, that's not what people
say. What people go is, how stupid
are you to think that that type of woman
will want you? Like how stupid are you?
but when women find themselves in these situations,
there is a degree of, I guess,
I don't know, sympathy that we're expected to have
in this, when this is fucking ridiculous.
I actually saw no sympathy.
This is why I'm trying to talk about it
in a bigger way and not just,
and like how this is a pattern.
Like there's documentaries.
They're going to snatch this up and make a documentary off of this.
And I'm trying not to be.
be gender specific because actually I never saw anybody and I was like going down dark holes. I didn't
see anybody have sympathy for these women. Google's out there. People like you couldn't Google. You couldn't
look up a roster. Do you not have any guy friends? Do you not have any brothers? Do you not like totally
ridiculing it? I'm not even here to take up for them. I'm here to take up for people I guess who
fall victim to this on both sides of it because I think that people are more lonely than ever.
That's all I'm
I just like I could sit here and make fun of this
Because it is funny
But I guess I'm just like
Trying to talk about it
In another way
And it made me think of it
And it made me think of somebody I know
That has fallen victim to this
So to me when I look at this
I look at
Scamming
A culture of scamming
Yeah
Like a culture of like getting people out there bread
And all of this stuff
That it seems like we have kind of accepted
I don't make no types of judgments on none of that.
Y'all do whatever the fuck y'all want to do.
Keep your eyes open out there.
I'm not getting in the middle of what people do morally.
But I would just say, like, in this, though,
there is a level of this, to me, that is a cautionary tale
for what people, like, show you and, like, what you value.
because I don't think that won somebody in the NFL,
like you said earlier, you said they're lonely
and they're excited that this type of guy
showed them this type of affection.
If you were a woman in this world,
it doesn't make any sense for you to try to date a man
that you feel like isn't financially stable.
Society isn't organized like that.
If you do it, then good on you.
You looked in somebody's heart and their soul and their potential and you did that.
I'm not about to tell women that they got to go out and look at a man's heart and soul and potential when things are so unequal between men and women.
I'm not doing that at all.
But what I am saying is when you climb that ladder, you have to be ready for the altitude.
Because when you go up that ladder, those men that have a bunch of different options and are successful like that, they are different.
And then there are a lot of people pretending to be those men because they are specifically valuable.
And that's, that is the, that come with that.
Sure.
It's like any other endeavor.
Because if you lonely, like, man, you know, there's librarians out there, there's other brothers out there.
There's people out there that would love to get a DM from you.
That would, you change their life.
Everything that you said and did.
Like some of these women, I'm looking at them, if they, if they, if it is about connection,
there are guys everywhere
that would love to connect with those guys.
Sometimes what we're going to talk about is those aren't the guys
that they want to connect with. Yeah, I'm not saying
that this is every single woman that
responded. I'm just saying
that
they
prey on vulnerable people.
Him, anybody
who's trying to scam. That's part of it.
You scam on people that you think
can be get-got. Right.
Yeah. And yeah, I
agree with that. I agree with that. I just think that
we should, I think that
examining where that vulnerability
comes from. For him
he's a 49ers player, but
yeah, but like, yeah, so like
that's a specific thing
where that vulnerability comes from
if the vulnerability is coming from the fact that
like if
you're lonely and you're willing to
listen to anyone, then almost anybody
can get you. But if you have this
as, and look,
this is people, let's be honest,
This is people, this is most people's, like a handsome, rich guy is,
am I wrong for saying that a handsome rich guy is what most women will want or a lot of women want?
They want a guy who's handsome, a guy who's like an athlete, a guy like this,
like he is leveraging that against the fact that, like,
they're not going to ask as many questions about them because they don't want that big fish to get off the hook.
So in this case, I think a lot of what you've seen from people is they don't believe that these women,
themselves are they think there's some cynicism and why they wanted him so then I think a lot of
people that are making fun of them think that they're not doing this for probably for life for
connection or because they're lonely I think that they think that they're that they want him
because he's rich and when you dive into the waters you kind of like whatever he said he was from
Switzerland and he had generational wealth now see here's the thing I don't want to say that
this nigger is the man because this nigger is not the man no he's
But I will say, though, that I will say that he don't even have the,
and she's in a 49ers jersey.
So is that the jersey that this woman is in, is she a fan of the team?
She's a fan of him probably.
So she's probably like, oh, my man plays for the 49ers.
We know he didn't buy her the jersey.
So it's like, let me, let me, let me, let me, let me rep for my man.
She couldn't get his number.
And then I saw that because he's,
been doing this, this is so widespread, that there are women who said that they Googled him
and it did pop up his name connected with the 49ers.
Let's see what happens.
I don't know if it's still out there, but that was like in the affidavit or whatever.
But it was an AI overview.
He is still behind bars.
Prosecutors are asking that he's remain there.
They're calling him a flight risk because of his lack of permanent address.
Yes, an extensive travel and multiple.
He was on dating sites, multiple names.
But he used an alias of Jordan Love.
Oh.
Who doesn't even play for them, though?
I know.
But so, like, DeJohn LeBre Love.
And they don't look alike.
He used the alias, John Love, Jordan Love.
I need Jordan Love to put out a statement.
But like, so if he used the alias, Jordan Love,
and then you looked up Jordan Love,
NFL player, you might have seen all kinds of shit.
You might have said all kinds of shit pop up.
Is his name really Dejohn Love?
His name is Dejohn Love.
Not La Brea.
La Brea Yee Love, it looks like?
Like the street?
He's in a, well, L-A-B-R-A-E.
I don't look at people that, because I don't look at people that are marks as
when you become a mark or mark for someone,
I don't look at it as you should have known better.
I'm not like that.
But I will say that like it is an interesting thing
for us to continuously talk about the fucking expectations
that we have out of people
and whether or not our expectations are serving us.
Because if this nigger right here.
How many times you've seen somebody in an NFL carry
or have their NFL helmet outside of the facilities?
You know what's funny?
He had it in the car?
He had it standing in front of the car, taking a picture of it.
He could have worn 49ers gear and not wear the helmet on the beach.
I think that is one of the funniest videos I've ever seen.
They don't know, man.
They don't know.
They don't know.
Look, I will say that I remember one time I was at a L.A. club,
and there was a football player in there.
And this was a funny situation to me.
and some of my homies could tell you this
because they were laughing
and I was doing this
and like what happens is
when the NBA guys come into the club
like everybody knows
right, they're tall
they're tall
you see their faces
yeah they don't wear helmets
but there was an NFL dude
that had come in the club
and he had just signed the contract
okay
he had, I might have told the story
he had just signed a big ass contract
right
but they big and they take a lot of space
and if you're on the line
or something like that
people might not know what you look like
They might not know who you are.
They see you big.
They might think that you're the NBA guys bodyguard.
So when I will go out to these places in LA,
I'll be with my homies.
And like we're, I'm at the table with the promoters,
with my guys from Made Entertainment with Vic and Dev
and fucking Sean Dickerson and Franz and Adi.
Shout to all these, I'm with them.
And so we are like actually having fun inside.
We're actually having fun.
Like we're actually at a little thing.
We're having fun.
They're introducing you to different people.
Vic always.
Vic brings somebody by this guy's first team, all NBA.
They know everybody.
We're actually having fun.
And what I would notice sometimes,
especially in my rascal days of trying to like always like be a scamp,
I notice I see girls and they're trying to get to the NBA guy.
I'd be like, hey, just let you guys know if you, I would say it.
I was like, hey, just let you guys know if you can't get to him.
You see that guy over there?
Like who?
Like that dude, right, see him?
Yeah, that dude, $80 million just inked.
Just ain't.
It's not even dry.
They actually probably celebrating right there.
You would watch the demeanor change.
Like, for real, him right there.
Look at the size of what you think that nigga do.
You think he an accountant?
No, that's a football player.
Like, whatever, whatever.
Like, yeah.
And then I promise you, we are one night, we're at Blue C. bellows.
I said that, and I'm joking, right?
I'm like joking with these women, joking with them.
I look up about 30 minutes later and they are at the table.
That's brotherhood.
That is brotherhood.
That's putting him on.
That's putting them on.
That's letting the dots for people inside the club.
If y'all don't believe me, I will bring on the person that witnessed that.
And he goes, Van just threw that niggas some buns.
He got the contract and the buns.
I'm just saying.
But when I saw that, I'm like,
Okay.
Obviously, to the ladies and people, status, accomplishments, all of that stuff matters.
And there's nothing wrong with it as long as you go in with your eyes open and you understand what sport you're playing.
Just understand what sport you're playing.
You get in, like, I used to say, I used to say, hey, man, you know, because, you know, girls call you up, they have Team Z, their sources and stuff like that.
I'd be like, hey, you know, why does niggas taking care of you?
There's stuff that you can do.
And they'd be like, what do you mean?
I'd be like, you know, you got a four or five year period where you can go to him or whatever.
But like during that period, like learn how to act, build your shit up, learn something.
Like while you have somebody, think of it as college.
Think of it as you, these niggas is putting you on scholarship.
rather than just like you're out here
like have some sort of direction
and a goal build up a skill
while somebody is like paying for your whole life
and stuff like that.
And then after that period is over,
you have something that you could develop
all of this time to when you're not with him
that will last you longer
than him supplementing your lifestyle.
Some of them did it.
Look at you being the groupie whisperer.
Hey.
I just want people to win.
Over here, consulting.
I want people to win.
That's good for him too.
Because that's good for everybody.
Because the last thing.
Not as she gets too independent.
They don't like that.
They don't like that,
but they like the right amount.
They like the right amount of it, though.
They like the right amount of get out of my face a little bit.
But you're right.
I know.
But you're right.
Boy, TMZ, was an interesting time.
You would just meet people and all that kind of stuff like that.
You'd meet them or whatever.
They looked at you.
you, like, you were kind of like a referee of the town.
It was different.
It was fun.
You miss it.
No.
Not even a little bit.
Not even a little bit.
Not even a little bit.
Oh, ice.
Ice going crazy.
Yeah.
British far right commentator Milo Yanopolis was arrested by Ice Thursday at the New Orleans airport
for allegedly overstaying his U.S. visa.
According to the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration Judge issued
Unopoulos a final order of removal
on July 22nd
after he failed to appear for an
immigration hearing. Yonopoulos has
since been deported to the United
Kingdom. Thoughts?
I saw a lot of people
like
I guess celebrating this.
Hasn't he been kind of quiet?
Milo? I'm not saying he has a done
but you know like obviously he had the scandal
and then
lost his job here. Remained
here. I mean, obviously he's
a worshipper
of Trump, but like, does he
have as much influence as
he used to?
No, to your point, he is not,
remember he was a phenomenon
during the time that
it was my little
unopolis, it was Richard Spencer, it was
all of these like far right, almost
alt-right guys who were going crazy
on college campuses and like getting a lot of talk.
Nick Fuentes has really replaced a lot of them
in prominence and visibility.
No, he has remained the chief of staff for Kanye West.
Yeah, he was there for a concert.
Right.
So he's remained the guy who runs everything for Kanye.
So that is probably now the more reason why he's prominent.
He had a book that was supposed to be coming out.
It was a big deal about whether or not college campuses would want Milo on campus or whatever.
But then he had several personal scandals of his own.
Right, he lost it all.
Yeah, that kind of relegated him.
him to a bench player in terms of the far right.
I think though that...
And to be clear, it was that he wanted...
He was basically making light of or okay with older men having relations with younger boys.
Yeah, there was several things, but that was the flashpoint, the one that he said that it was
okay or maybe even a part of the development or the growth of a young gay man to have a
relationship with someone that was much older than them almost like normalizing that.
And people are Milo you gone too far.
Well, apparently not everyone.
But it's always a leperts ate my face moment is always funny.
But there is a portion of this to me that if not that's not funny, but there's a portion,
not that it's not funny, but there's a portion of this to me that like celebrating an ice
action in this way.
is almost like when we use the term fake news.
There's something that we do sometimes
where we adopt, like we're on the back foot
when it comes to the far right and their type of deal.
Like we'll adopt Trump's jargon.
We'll adopt, we get culturally accepted by things.
So now it's not that ICE is wrong,
it's that ICE is deporting the wrong people.
Like when ICE deports Maya Yonopoulos,
and I'm not, I'm not trying,
to be hyper, super sensitive and woke or whatever.
I'm just calling it like I see it.
What even look at that.
Look what just happened.
I just use woke.
I heard you.
As a semi-prejorative.
So right there, inside of that.
But when you do do this and you go, okay, it's funny that ICE is able to get him.
It is to me, even subconsciously, a little bit of an endorsement of ICE.
I don't look at it as an endorsement.
I look at it as, because I'm not.
not applauding ice, it's more of the hypocrite, like the irony is funny. That is more of what it is.
It's not like, it's just that you were so outspoken. As an immigrant, you're so outspoken about
immigration and you think you're above it all and separate only to be deported. So I guess I don't, you're
not wrong. I don't look at it that way, but I don't look at it as like, oh, look, ICE is
doing what it's supposed to. It's more like, you fucking idiot, you thought you were above
it all, and at the end of the day, you're out of here. For what? Like, you've spent the last
10 years being a Trump darling. Oh, him in Trump or not? No, I meant, sorry. I know he,
because I think that's the Laura Loomer of it all. Like, it's like, who does Daddy like more,
Laura Lumer.
He's not close to Trump, but she is
close to Trump. She is in the inner circle.
I think that's their... We should say that
Milo Yanopolis, but this is not to defend...
I didn't mean like he's a darling. I meant like he's a
worshipper of Trump. He is... No. Yes, he is.
Milo Yanapolis, no.
He was not now?
Because in 2016,
first term, he was.
So a part of people... Some people believe that this is actually
targeted against him.
Yeah. Because of his
I'm not, by the way,
Milo Yanopoulos
is a far right clown.
But he has been,
and this is more of a personal thing.
Yeah. But he has been since 2020,
like a staunch,
but didn't he get the dinner in 2022?
Well, no. Milo Yanopolis,
so this is what, just so people know,
Milo Yanapolis claims that he lined Trump up.
Oh, like set him up with the Nick Fuentes dinner.
With the Nick Fuentes dinner.
Got you.
He lined Trump up.
He set him up.
He first started dissing Trump in like 2020.
And since that time has been a pretty vocal.
This is not, this is interesting.
This is more like a Marjorie Taylor Green thing to where these people become anti-Trump people
because they have personal or political disagreements that come from like business stuff.
It's not anything.
He hasn't changed any of his stances.
But in this particular situation, Miloianopoulos is not a Trump fan and hasn't been a Trump fan for a very long time.
He's far right.
For sure.
He believes in Trump's policies.
I would imagine.
But he doesn't like Trump.
So like try to think of it in terms of like, try to think of it.
Think of it in terms of like Marjorie Taylor Green.
Marjorie Taylor Green has provided some daylight between her and Donald Trump on certain issues.
But I think that's more of a reaction to the fact that she's trying, right, she's trying to court a new audience.
but if you break her down, like even in her defense of Angie Nixon, which we'll talk about a little bit later, she goes out of her way to say, I'm not a Democrat, I'm not supported Angie Nixon, right?
So Milo is probably, not probably, Milo is anti-immigration.
Milo is probably all the things that he's been talking about.
We don't need to, like, relitigate who Milo Yanopolis is.
All those policies still stand.
This probably happened, though, at least partly, at least partly, because he's been an outspoken critic of the president whenever he could.
That is not based in anything that comes from ideology.
That's based in things going bad between Milo and Donald Trump.
Yeah, like Marjorie Taylor Green brags about her how she's voted
and that she has aligned herself with Trump's policies more than most people who were in the house.
That is her thing, which I would say is the same thing with him.
He's a far-right conservative.
I would consider himself MAGA, but she's got an issue with Trump because he wanted to,
He didn't support her in running to run for a different office or whatever it may be.
So he's not, I say, so I guess I'm wrong and saying he's a Trump worshipper, but he does support Trump's policies.
He does support Trump's theories.
So all that to say, I laugh, I laugh at the irony of it all more than I laugh at, more than I look at it as us endorsing ICE.
because I think what ICE did show in the way that they deported him is that, oh, you can deport somebody.
You don't have to detain them for a, you can arrest them peacefully.
They don't have to be in a detention facility for a long time.
And you can send them back to the country that they were born and spent majority of their life in.
That is, like, that is.
That they can do this humanely if they want.
They can do it humanely.
negative way to them more than I looked at it as I am almost okay with ICE doing something
when it works against somebody I don't like.
Right.
So for me, there's a larger erosion of faith and belief in ice because of what is behind
ice, right?
The reason why ICE doesn't do stuff like that we all know is because they can't do it
that way.
Like ICE is just as many other of the Trump administration's levers of power are, ICE is, ICE has to be the Gestapo secret police.
They have to.
Because if they were to treat people humanely, those people then would be viewed as humans.
And if those people are viewed as humans, they cannot be the single source and focus of everything that is wrong with America.
Byron Donald said that the reason why Musles is on the rise is because illegal aliens,
brought measles into the country
because we didn't know the vaccination status of everybody
that was brought it in. He made that claim
with absolutely zero evidence.
Not just zero evidence,
there was zero intelligence behind the claim.
It wasn't even something that he put out there
in a way that
took into consideration that people
might be a little bit,
they might question it a little bit.
He didn't even think that the people
that eat the gruel,
that he serves, that they would even question
the pieces of glass in it.
He didn't have to do that.
All he has to do is take the same group
that has been maligned and blamed for every single American problem
over the last six or seven years.
Inflation is their fault.
Crime is their fault.
Measles is their fault.
The beef is their fault.
Remember when the beef started fucking up
and they were like they brought cows across the board?
Everything is their fault.
So you have to dehumanize them.
So it's actually part of an ice cultural tactic,
to treat them like animals.
Because when you treat them like animals,
people go, oh, why would you,
if they're so bad, why would you be nice to them?
Why would they get due process?
You told me that everything that's wrong for me is their fault.
Why would they get due process?
Milo got it because you do that to a white boy.
Maybe you wake people up to how things are going.
But even still over that, like beyond that,
in this situation, this is, in my opinion, President Trump,
using an American agency
to target somebody who he views as a political enemy.
And while I don't give a fuck that this happened
to Miloiannopoulos, I just urge caution from everyone
in accepting wins in the second quarter
that's not going to benefit you in the final score of the game.
So that's funny.
I'm not in any way going to be like, that's not funny.
It's funny to see him have his dignity taken
when he's advocated for so many other people's
dignity being taken.
But it probably, any celebration of it probably still benefits the fashion state that
we live in right now.
And that's the fucked up part about it.
No, no, I mean, I didn't think of it that way, but it makes sense.
Can I talk about Jesus real quick?
By all means, go ahead.
So you put into the chat this resolution.
You put into the chat this amazing.
story, this resolution. I will say
that Rachel was talking about
putting things in the chat late and stuff like
this. This did go in the chat this morning, I will say
I like this day. It was too important
to pass up. I did go in the chat this morning.
I hate a late edition. She hates
to lay that. Like the Lionel Messi.
I hate a late edition. Because my mornings are
so hectic, but I saw
it and I was like, I can't
pretend like I didn't see it. Yeah, you're right.
It's a good late at. And we
talk about Jesus with my
and talk about Jesus with this right here.
Jade?
Republican rep Jeff Crank of Colorado
has introduced a House resolution
condemning socialism in all its forms
and specifically targeting the Democratic Socialists
of America or DSA.
Crank says he wants to force Democrats
to publicly state where they stand
on the growing socialist movement within the party.
He also pointed to New York City mayors
Armandani.
Kim Jeffries, those people like that.
He wants them to vote for the resolution.
He wants to Kim Jeffries to vote for the resolution.
He wants the Democrats to come out and admonish the DSA.
I'll tell you straight up right now.
Any Democrat who does this, any Democrat who does this,
who's a part of this resolution is outing themselves as controlled opposition.
I don't use the term controlled opposition very much
because I think that it's legitimately one of the most disrespectful things
that you can call somebody.
Disrespectful.
I'll tell you why.
I happen to believe in the virtue,
even of people that I disagree with.
People that I disagree with is one thing.
Enemies is something else.
Enemies is something else.
Remember, if you don't agree
that black children need clean drinking water,
you're my enemy.
If you don't agree with the way
that I'm going about getting black kids
clean drinking water,
we can talk about it.
But if you want them to drink clean water,
you have a way and I have a way,
and you think that my way is either sabotaging that,
or you think that your way is better,
we can talk to we blew in the face.
We can talk till we go, you do things your way,
and I'll do things my way.
But you're my enemy if you don't think it's important
that they drink clean water.
And a lot of times I think,
when I'm having conversations with people
from the center of the Democratic Party,
or more traditional establishment Democrats,
I think that we just disagree on the way that this is going to happen.
Sometimes I am frustrated with them because I'm like,
you know, you guys have been in power for a long time, spending your wills,
you guys want to try something new?
And they go, no, no, no, no, this is the way things have to go.
I don't mind having that conversation with them.
And I don't look at them as controlled opposition
because controlled opposition would be somebody who in the front of their mind
or
it would have to be so stupid
that they don't realize
that they're an actual impediment
to real progress
but they are in the k-fabe
of fake progress, right?
That they represent
Charlemagne said
it's like the Democrats
are sometimes
that they don't mind
being a Washington generals
being the opposition
for the Globetrotters
to piss all over
but people look at the show
and they go home
feeling like something happened.
If you fuck with this
you are controlled opposition
opposition because there's absolutely zero reason to fuck with this as a Democrat.
There's zero reason to come out and splinter and destroy a movement that people inside of
your cohort are enjoying and have political energy.
It makes no sense to do it.
If I'm the Democrats, you should be embarrassed by this because Jeff Crank is taking a page
out of your playbook, you've already drafted a letter trying to condemn democratic socialists.
You have political talking heads saying that they're not going to pour money into certain races.
You're showing, your slip is showing.
You're showing yourself about the fact that you are not in alignment as a party.
And so rather than come together and show unity, you've shown.
the cracks. And so this right here is him trying to widen the crack and make you see,
see who says, I'm not with them or I'm for them. He's trying to split you even more. And it's so
obvious. So on one hand to me, it is embarrassing that you have been like, the fighting is so
public that you have someone who's like trying to take advantage of it. And the other part of it is,
is that if you're now going to be put your back against the wall where to, too,
me the best way to fight this is to say, we're a united front. Our goal is this, this, and this.
I don't even think they should ignore it. I think they should actually come together and say,
and realize what's happening and actually speak out against it. To me, that would be the smart thing.
To call out certain people, like you're trying to sway the hand of certain Democrats within the
House and I would be embarrassed if my name was being used as a part of this or if people are like,
what is this person going to do because they don't trust that you're going to be a united front.
I just, I think when I saw this, I was like, man, this is bad for the Democrats.
Well, I mean, it's not bad for the Democrats until it's bad for the Democrats so we see what
they do.
To your point, though, I've forgotten about that letter.
And that letter makes me.
It's a page.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, shit.
But to your point?
They're already doing it.
Right. To your point, it's not bad for them until it's bad for them, but this is the Jesus thing.
So, you know, of all the things that Jesus said and did, do you know what the most important thing for me was?
What?
Something that I disagree with.
Oh, okay.
There's something that Jesus says that I actually disagree with.
Not that I disagree with it, but it's not how I was raised.
No, go ahead.
Disagree with Jesus.
Say it out of your chest.
Hey, man. Can I talk about Jesus?
No, I'm just joking.
No. Turn the other cheek.
Okay. So listen.
If you said you agreed, I was going to hit it.
Boom. So turn the other cheek, right?
To me, it's the most important thing that Jesus said.
Because to me, it solidifies the purity of the most important thing about Jesus, which is that Jesus was different.
the new covenant that Jesus brought, the new way of looking at things, there was an actual
different thing because we can all share revenge.
We can share the want to hurt somebody who has hurt us.
And that's understandable.
Like you can be the person that when it's your turn to have power, you then obliterate
and oppress your enemies.
You're actually the same as them.
You just disagree on how to dominate people.
when Jesus came along or why you dominate people or which people to dominate.
That's actually not what I'm interested in.
I'm interested in people who are actually different, people who are for real different,
somebody who will go, you know what?
I want to change things through showing you that your anger is not the way.
So if you hit me on this side, I'm going to turn my cheek and let you hit me on the other side.
I don't have the wherewithal and the faith in humanity to do that.
But when someone does, in that instance, have that faith,
it shows me that there is something truly there.
You are an actual alternative to the violence, to the pettiness of humanity.
And so when I see that, I go, hey, here's somebody that went,
you know what, this is the way things are, but I have a different way.
I am actually calling upon the Democratic Party to actually be different, to be different for real, right?
To understand that while you might be annoyed by a political movement coming from your left flank,
that that movement represents the fear and angst of a lot of Americans who see their society running away from them.
And the way to actually be different is not to exist in political and
rhetorical domination of people, but actually to engage with the ideas, stop scaring people
and start preparing people. And if you can't do that, then you're literally no different than
the MAGA people. Then you're literally no different than the people who use these scare tactics
and these sort of ridiculous boogeymen to gain political power in America.
And this is like, this is not a, this is a low bar.
This is a low bar.
This movement, I watched Angie Nixon get, just be the result of a ridiculous racist attack.
Something that should be unifying for the entire Democratic power establishment.
And I saw people speak out.
I saw Wes Moore this morning.
Yeah, I saw his this morning too.
Shout out to West.
Shout out to West.
I saw people speak out.
But that right there should animate every single person in the party.
Here you have a black woman who is stepping into her moment, stepping into her cloak of leadership,
and being called, along with these other black women who are always this, as Jasmine Crockett was as well, right?
The result of these shenay-ne-n-a-gett, ghetto bitch, all of this type of stuff that Luma is on,
this is an easy, easy, easy, unifying moment for the whole party,
but I'm going to keep it all the way real, man.
It felt like maybe because it was the weekend,
that there was a little bit of feet dragging on it.
The loudest voice in the room,
until I saw Westmore this morning too.
But the loudest voice this weekend was Marjorie Taylor Green.
No, you're saying it wrong.
I'm sorry.
Marjorie Taylor King.
Right, which was cynical on her part.
It's cynical on her part to be that, right?
Because she's using this as a wedge issue to continue to, you know, her assent into the I'm not a crazy Republican, but you are.
We're not stupid.
Like when I do the Marjorie Taylor King thing, I do it as a way to poke fun at the obvious self-serving that she's doing right now.
By the way, if Marjor Taylor Green wants to come on here.
Oh, my gosh.
We'd love to invite her.
Talk about like, but she's politically self-serving and all of that.
But this right here, I legitimately want different in my politicians.
I want different.
I want there to be some authenticity there.
I want there to be some passion there.
I want people that are able to do a self-scout, not just on them, but on the entire political landscape and go,
hey, these are things that are actually not working.
And it doesn't seem like sometimes they can do that.
And all of my true leftist friends who are in my ear, when I say true leftist,
I mean the true left that is in my ear every single day telling me these people that you
continue to make space for and these people that you continue to have some sort of belief in,
they are the people that are in your way.
and I'm having these conversations all the time
and I'm the one
I'm the one that's saying
nah man
you got to understand
a black Southern Democrat is
different in this way
black people have this different set of expectations
the country as a whole
people on here
they fucking feel like I'm Marx
if you listen to me
actually try to be a connector
I might sound like
fucking Akeem Jeffreys
And what I'm telling you right now is I'm losing my mother fucking patience for that shit.
I mean, people used to think that I was more moderate centrist.
I'm still closer to that than you are.
But it's why I keep moving left.
Because it's just so obvious to me how we need to be.
It's really, and if I'm even more honest, it's quite easy.
for me to see how it is that we need to be and how we need to be responding to what is happening
to people in this country. It's easy, you know, if you want to use a Jesus example,
like if we believe in humanity and valuing the good in people and wanting the best outcome for
people, it is easy for me to support the initiative of what I'm seeing a lot of the Democratic
socialist push forward.
It is hard for me to understand why you'd want to fight against it.
And the only things I can conclude are power, money, position, influence, all these
things.
And I'm not okay with that.
And that is why I keep finding myself leaning towards the left because I am so frustrated
in the things that I feel like some of these politicians really want to hold on to that
is getting us nowhere, not even you.
You're just a person with the title.
You ain't even fucking doing anything.
Right.
So I'm just, you know, and once again, I'm just, I'm still naive, guys, I realize.
I still believe that friends are more important than enemies.
They are.
No, but I really do.
But I don't know that there's much belief in that in the political landscape that we have right now.
Your enemies are the ones that you raise money off of.
Your enemies are the ones that you position as the demon so people believe that you have virtue.
It's not about the virtue of your friends or your messaging or the accuracy of your policies.
It's about who you can cast in the opposition role.
And I am seeing that as we watch the response to the DSA.
I'm aware that people are uncomfortable with the term socialist.
I get it.
I understand why.
We have made our economic system into a religion.
And as part of that religion, any talk that examines that economic system is heresy.
Like I said, I will spare you guys going into that again.
I get it and I understand.
What I would expect, though, is the people that are in leadership positions around this country,
the people who say that they want clean water, they want hunger,
They want housing.
They want health care.
You know, they want people not to have to live in the same neighborhood as a data center
or they want people not to have their dignity taken from mass policemen on the streets.
People who want that, that they would stand with other people who want that too.
Yeah.
And look for reasons to stand with them rather than look for reasons to continue being the cool kids.
And so like when I look at this, I'm expecting, number one, people to go, you know what, Republican?
you're trying to split my household up, go fuck yourself, right?
Number two, I'm expecting people to rally behind Angie Nixon.
Like, rally behind her.
I ain't heard the woman say nothing that a child in Baton Rouge, Louisiana cannot use.
I wish she was one of ours.
I wish she was one of ours.
I have not heard her say anything that a black child in Florida,
Baton Rouge, Dallas, Compton,
Brooklyn.
They got black people in Idaho.
Shout out to New.
Like, in Boise,
where,
I haven't heard her say anything
that that child cannot use.
Yeah.
So,
you know,
I don't know,
man.
Like,
let's continue to talk about Hassan.
What the fuck is going on?
Let's can,
like,
I was trying to have a low key.
When you see the legs cross,
that's me trying to be more low key.
Is it?
Yeah.
That's me trying to,
but let's continue to talk about Hassan.
Let's talk about Hassan over and over and over again.
Let's talk about that.
Let's not talk about the water or the fucking food or the missiles falling or any of that.
Let's continue to do it.
And let's not talk about the fact that this woman just got called ghetto and a fucking sleaze bag by one of the most prominent white supremacists in this entire country who is a personal friend and advisor to the president of the United States of America.
We have heard for months, now I'm worked up, we've heard for months about Hassan in everybody's interviews.
In everyone's interviews, Piker, Piker, Piker, Piker, Piker, Piker, Piker, every time.
Hey, man, there's, I don't know if you guys just saw, but when I walked in the fucking, the, the radio station, the TV station,
somebody's getting killed out there.
They're getting their face cut up by razors by ice.
Yeah, we get it.
What about your association with Hassan Piker?
Hassan Piker, Assam Piker, Assam Piker, Assam Piker, Assam Piker, Assam Piker,
Laura Lumer actually has sway and suction.
Some people say all different types of suction
with the president of the United States of America.
And look at her disgusting behavior.
I just don't understand.
Like we're living in funny, weird-ass times.
And when I see this stuff about like Hassan or whatever,
I'm not just seeing this.
Katie Turr does this.
This happens on CNN.
This happens on NMSNBC.
This happens on the places that are supposed to be like these biased liberal strongholds.
People sit down and rather than talk about how people are going to be able to afford going to the doctor,
you have Sayyad there.
I applaud the Breakfast Club for the interview that they did.
today because they talked about issues.
They talked about some Hassan too,
but they talked about issues with this candidate
and let him kind of extrapolate on what he believes
and didn't sit there and talk about associations
for an hour and a half.
I say all of this is to say,
Nick Fuentes, Laura Lumer,
Stephen Miller is in the fucking administration.
All of this is fucking weirdo bullshit
that doesn't even meet a three-year-old smell test.
And they think everything smells good.
because the networks that you just named are also establishments.
And I think, again, like when I saw the Laura Lumer thing, a part of me was like, do I even want to talk about it?
Because she's just doing what Laura Lumer does.
But then I'm like, then I'm dismissing her and allowing it to continue and really not bringing light to it.
Because we don't really talk about her on this show because it's the same shit.
But then I'm kind of doing what other people are doing as well when they just ignore her.
but then they want to focus on Hassan Piker or an Abdul Aylsaid or a Mamdani.
These are the people who are being put up as troublemakers.
And I think it's very simple when it comes to Laura Lumer, which is why even a Marjorie Taylor Green King, whatever we call her on this podcast, can recognize it.
I think it is obvious to most people what Laura Lumer said about Angie Nixon or Kamala Harris or Jasmine Crockett or.
or Justice Kataji Brown Jackson,
it is obvious that what she said is racist.
We can all agree that.
Absolutely.
And then I think the question you need to ask yourself is,
if you think that that's racist behavior,
would you want to associate or align yourself
with someone who spews such hateful and racist rhetoric?
The answer, if you said that to someone,
if you put up what she says,
and then you said, would you want to be,
around somebody like that? Would you want to align yourself with somebody like that? Would you want to
be associated? They probably be like, no, not really. So then you would say, so what does it say to
you that the president keeps her in his inner circle and doesn't even condemn the type of rhetoric that
she puts out there? What does that say about him? You know you wouldn't want to be associated with that
and you know exactly why. But the president of the United States can keep this person close. She
He has no title, no actual position.
She just has his ear, is in his inner circle, and is influential to him.
So what does that say about him?
He's a racist.
And the reason I didn't want to talk about it, too, is because, again, she attacks the same people,
and she resorts to the same personal attacks because she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
When you compare her to these women that she's constantly name-calling, stereotyping, saying hateful things to,
it's because they are a threat to her.
She is jealous of them,
and she could never compare to them on paper or in person.
She is somebody who has failed at everything that she has done.
These women have college degrees, law degrees,
successfully won races.
She has never won any kind of race that she has put herself up against.
They have organized, they have galvanized people,
people believe in them.
All she did was create something.
kind of media platform where all she does is spew out propaganda.
So if those women that you condemn are ghetto bitches, as she likes to call them,
then I want to be a ghetto bitch.
What I don't want to be is a Laura Loomer,
because all she is is a loser and a low life,
and she has consistently held those titles as long as she's been put in our face in the public eye.
Are we some ghetto bitches?
I'm a ghetto bitch then.
I'm a ghetto bitch.
If that's a ghetto bitch.
That's what being a ghetto bitch is, a Supreme Court justice, a vice president of the United States, an elected member to Congress, somebody who's running for Senate in the general election.
I want to be a ghetto bitch.
I can't actually can't.
What I don't want to be is somebody who is unrecognizable to the point where it's actually terrifying since we want to do personal attacks.
And somebody who sits there with no title, no position, no real power in that sense, not even in.
making money in that kind of way
just so she can sit next to Donald Trump.
I think that she actually
Well, she's influential to him, but like
I mean, I mean, like, over Congress and Air Force One
access. I get what you mean.
Yeah. Look, there's nobody in the world who can say that better
than what you just said it. And that's just reality.
Like this situation,
I almost wanted to, I wanted to call Wes.
This,
like, this situation here
should have all hands on deck.
Like,
we realize
I don't know.
There's not much
else to say.
I'm just disappointed, man.
I'm disappointed, too.
How are we not all upset and outraged?
I'm disappointed. A lot.
I am seeing,
and let me be real,
I am seeing a tremendous amount of respect
and support for Angie Nixon.
I am.
But,
man, I gotta be real, bro.
I'm not,
I know when something feels different,
the fight feels different
when they fight in the DSA.
it feels more urgent.
It feels more vicious.
They be threatening people.
I see people that I never even thought of as fighters,
drawing lines in the sand,
jumping on every single opportunity that they can
to like pull somebody's hair out.
And here you have someone putting it on wax,
putting names on wax,
out there for everyone.
And that same energy, is that West?
And that same energy
just doesn't feel like it's there.
And maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe I'm too biased.
Maybe I need to take a fucking chill pill,
as they used to say on MTV in 1991.
Maybe I need to kind of pull back
and take a chill pill.
We never really said that shit,
but they said the white boys should say it.
So maybe I need to chill out a little bit
and kind of understand what's going on.
maybe I'm a little bit over my skis, but it doesn't feel like it's the same.
It doesn't feel like it's as urgent.
It feels different.
And here you have an opportunity right now to do two things.
One is to defend this woman and the fact that she is like running her campaign
and positioning and presenting herself with nothing but a people first message.
That's number one.
To grow her and what she's saying.
And number two, to have something.
something to unify the fractures in your party around. But there's this part of me in the back of my
mind. That's like the reason why you haven't heard a more robust defense of Angie Nixon right now
is because they realize it's a moment that could blow her up. It's a moment where people could see
her. The visibility might be useful. And they don't want those voices to have power in those places.
They don't want to call attention to it because they don't want to make it into a thing.
that could like
propel her forward
or let people see her
the way she's supposed to be seen
you know what I mean
or even asked a question
about why Laura Lumer
would choose her
amongst all of those other women
to come after her
we should say that she said
the same thing about Katanja Brown Jackson
about Rashida Taleb
about Ayanna Presley about
Cory Bush they were all like in that
right
those ladies have been
getting attacked for years
but I'm
don't know, man. Like,
it,
I don't know. Before I completely,
completely abandoned
my belief of true cultural solidarity.
Like, people,
I get criticized all the time. It's not about me.
But I get criticized all the time. Van, why are you with them,
niggas? Van, why you, because I
actually believe in black people.
Like, the black people that you guys
want to, like, put out to pasture,
I think I can talk to them. I'm arrogant.
I think if I sit down and have
a conversation with you that we could
like really in a way
come to some type of agreement
about the fact that this whole thing
is fucked up.
And if I have a better understanding of you,
if you are black, you could,
you could, like there are black
conservatives that I know, that I believe them.
I actually believe them.
It's none of these cool ass niggas y'all got out here
that's running around the face of it.
But I actually believe that they think my way is wrong.
I'm all right with that.
I really am.
Like, I'm okay with that.
but I am starting to lose faith in my belief
in the sincerity of some of these people.
I get it.
I really do.
And with some of these people,
this fracture is going to be uncomfortable.
It's going to be uncomfortable because like,
all right, man.
Take that energy down to the CBC when you go.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're going to be coming in hot.
I said no.
Too much.
Too much.
Too much.
That was too much at the end.
Sorry, guys.
Too much.
Love everybody.
Just want to see if we can figure something out.
That's what it is.
All right.
What topic you want to do?
Okay, so we got...
What did we got?
I wish it was something fun.
Well, I want to do the Master P situation.
Let's go.
Let's do that.
Master P.
Caught some backlash.
After comments from a Forbes interview went viral
where he questioned
why Black Americans continue harping
on slavery and argued that the focus should be on changing the future and closing the racial
wealth gap.
We do have a video for you.
Let's watch it.
Somebody looked like us.
Say, hey, how come we don't own our own tennis shoe when Nike started out of their garage?
Like, Phil Knight started out of his garage.
And I tell people all the time, look, it's not about a color.
Like, think about it, even though when I help black own business, I'm doing that because
we at the bottom of the totem pole.
But we want to create product for everybody.
This product is for everybody.
Blacks, white, Asian, Latino, but it don't have too many black-owned companies.
Like, show me how many black-owned shoe, tennis shoe companies out there that's making functional shoes that actually own it.
It's not that many.
It's a problem.
So when I find a problem, you know, my passion gets like, I need to do this.
I got to show the world.
In the food industry, I realized that we didn't have enough healthy alternative foods for.
us. So I found a problem. I created Miller family food. I said, well, you know, I got to make
healthy alternative food, snacks, everything. Is that based out of New Orleans? Yes. Okay. Yes. And so I was
inspired by going to Tulsa, Oklahoma. And, you know, in the Black Wall Street, 1920, what happened
to our people. And it's like you had so many successful, rich black people, and it was
burned down. But I met this guy that owned a grocery store called.
oasis.
A.J. Johnson.
Yes.
And so I'm like, you know what?
I'm going to put my food in your grocery store and I'm going to support you.
We support all these other companies.
But why not support OASIS and AJ?
He's doing good stuff in the community.
And what you knows about that store as I've been down there is that the predominantly of
that area, that's white, is poor individuals, you know.
And so I love the work that he's doing.
But when you think about, again, being yourself, what's been the biggest surprise?
biggest surprise of the stardom.
I mean, you've been in this game for a very, very long time.
It's been the biggest surprise about it all.
Our own culture don't believe that we could do it.
You know, because they just don't get it.
They're like, how you could do this.
I mean, like, if I could do it, anybody could do it.
You don't have to be the smartest person in the world.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist.
You just got to have integrity and do good business.
And these doors will open up for you, building great relationships.
And I think that's the biggest thing for me trying to get that negative mindset out of our culture because they're still going back to, oh, man, slavery, they did us this.
And I'm like, you're still hoping on that, man.
I never hoped on that because I can't change the past, but I can change the future.
And I think you've got to get used to us being successful.
and I think a lot of us, we block our own blessings
because we don't think that we could do it
because we're looking at a color.
So, I mean, Muhammad Ali was a guy that,
and I loved, like, his story
because he didn't care about that.
He just wanted to be around good people,
but he did represent for the culture.
And I want more African-American-owned tennis shoe companies.
Okay, so P, got some backlash,
and he came back,
And this is the response to the backlash that Pete got from him.
He got some backlash.
What's up y'all for the ones in the back that came here?
Stop making them false narratives.
I love my people.
When you talk about slavery, our ancestors been through so much and we're not going to forget it.
You know what I'm saying?
But what I want to tell y'all is, even though we're going to always be aware of it,
but we have to do something to bridge the wealth gap.
That's what I'm saying.
We can't change the past, but we can change the future.
We're going to constantly fight and educate our people.
But I want to let y'all know, Apple is making $32 million an hour.
How do we get a piece of that?
Because we need to be able to bridge the well gap.
That's the only thing I'm saying.
And that's the only way it's going to happen is going to educate our people and educate our culture.
And that's what I'm doing.
Response?
What did you think of his response?
They didn't really line up with what he said.
It's two different things.
So let me ask you a question, just overall.
How much money would it take for you?
you loan a friend some money
how much money would it take for you to be
for you to be
aggravated by that person not paying you back
but what's the number
like you loan somebody some money
or they have money that was yours
and you see them doing stuff
like you see them out there
we all been through it right
somebody gets some bread off of you
and then they're like hey I'm going to
to Greece.
I'm going on a vacation.
I'm going to the fucking club or something like that.
How much money for y'all would it take for that to be,
to bother y'all?
A thousand dollars.
I would say.
A thousand bucks.
You loan somebody a thousand bucks.
You loan somebody a thousand bucks.
They go out there.
They're not paying you back, but you see them doing other stuff.
You see them increase in their wealth, but they haven't paid you back.
And they see you act like you never gave them any money.
Act like you never gave them any thing.
A thousand dollars, right?
Jay, how much?
I would say like
$4 or $500 or $500
$400 or $500 or $500
$400 or $500 or $500
$400 or $500. Let me ask you a question
what if it was $50 trillion
dollars?
She
I'm asking
for everybody that understands that
situation what if it was $50 trillion
what if it was $50 trillion
that you saw somebody
spending
going crazy with
buying bombs with
investing into other people, what if it was $50 trillion?
How long would it take you to get over $50 trillion?
The conservative estimate of the black tax book that you guys should go read
on black people, the money, the wealth that was extracted out of black people during slavery,
the conservative amount is $50 trillion.
The reason why we can't forget about slavery is because two reasons.
One, we can't forget it.
Two, we keep being reminded of it.
So when P was talking about Tulsa, that's a reminder of the structure that slavery created,
which is of black people as people that you take wealth from.
Now, what I would like to know from all of my people that talk,
like we should probably get over this or get past it or not consider it as a part of the makeup of American economic dysfunction,
is what has America done for black people
to make black people believe that they could or should forget about slavery?
Like, what has actually happened?
And let's have an honest conversation about that
because if we're talking about closing the racial wealth gap,
which anybody should want to do, right?
America would be better off if the racial wealth gap were closed.
The thing that you can't convince America of
is that they would do better if we did better.
They would do better if we did better.
If our neighborhoods were better,
then America overall would be better.
If our children were more educated,
America would be better.
If our children were healthier,
America would be better.
Sure.
But America doesn't look at black people
as a part of their society.
So not only are they uninterested
in closing a wealth gap,
They're interested in that wealth gap persisting so that they can have a perpetual economic slave class that they can dictate to.
We talked about the NFL.
Nigel, why are you going to go run and bust your head in for the white people unless you have to?
Like who going to box?
Who going to sing?
Who going to dance?
Who going to cook?
Who are we going to extract culture from if these people are our equals?
Right?
And so, like, to me, when I look at that, why are people talking to black people about closing the wealth gap?
Are we creating the wealth gap?
No, we're not.
Why are you talking to us about that?
The people to talk to about that to admonish about the fact that there is a wealth gap are the people who are interested in continuing that gap.
I'm not against financial literacy.
I think it's incredibly important.
I think in the last month
that that some kind of way got
fucked up that I don't think
you should know about money. You should definitely know about
money. You should know about any system
that exists here in America. The financial system,
the legal system, the health care system,
the system of food, the housing system, all systems.
Any black people that are
educating you about how these systems work
go crazy listening to them.
I'm going to tell you something else.
He brought up Tolson
that situation, right?
I could have all kinds of conversations about Tulsa,
but those were black people who had come together
and figured out how they were going to keep their dollar
in their community.
And America showed them exactly what the fuck
they thought about that.
A persistent attempt at destroying them
over and over and over again.
A couple years ago, black lady from Atlanta
said, you know what? Black women aren't represented
in tech? So what am I going to do?
I'm going to start a fund
that gives them the money
that they need. These crackers.
fucking sued them.
None for you.
So we're going to keep shouting about
what the fuck is going on
until we get to a point
until we understand just what the fuck it is that we
up against. This is not in any way
for me to get at P because that's one of my
OGs. But like when I'm saying
that, but what I'm saying is we continuously
run up against this narrative,
up against this situation.
How can you forget something you still going
through?
It's just not that simple
And it feels like it always comes from a message of somebody
Who has acquired wealth and built
generational wealth
And it seems like it and you know the road wasn't easy for them to get to that point either
But it just that it's put in a way where it's like
Just let that go and do that and focus on this
And if you could you could release yourself from that mindset
Then you can get there which is a talking point for them
And that talking point
hinders us. And that's why
he received the criticism that he received
because it's not that simple. It's not that easy
because it has been something
that has burdened us since
we got here. Right. And so look, look, man,
we can go through all of this stuff. And don't fight me on the people
who say we were already here.
Like we go through all of this stuff. I get it.
Everybody and something else. Last thing I'll say.
By the way,
it's very important.
for everybody who says
I don't want to dwell in the past
I just want to move on to the future
yo how can I help you
I'm with you
I'm with you
like legitimately for the people that go
hey
everybody has different jobs
some of you guys have to pretend
as if nothing ever happened
go out there and get your wins
I'm with you I'm supporting you
some of us believe
that the consciousness of a people
any people black white
Asian, Hispanic,
that the raising of a consciousness of a people
is a worthwhile endeavor
and when people have a developed choice matrix
that they will make different choices
and developing the choice matrix of people
letting them understand
like in goodwill hunting, it's not your fault,
it's not your fault, you don't have a bad culture,
you're not stupid, you're not addicted to crime,
you are a part of this dignity,
stripping
demonic
cultural experiment
and you
have fucking survived it
but if you want to go to the next
level you have to analyze it
diagnose it
and then come away empowered
about who you are
and what people are trying to do
is just a part of that
and I don't care how much it annoys people
$50 trillion
dollars every single
opportunity that
you had to free yourself, they pushed back.
It's also not the past.
You just gave a brilliant example
of how it is still, it's your present.
It's the present.
We're not dwelling in the past.
It's happening now.
At the same time, I want to buy them kicks.
It's a pretty color.
I support everything Pete does.
It's a pretty color.
Yeah, like, I want to buy them kicks.
I buy the shoes.
I had the shoes on my desk at TMZ.
P used to drop by the office just unannounced.
you know it's van here
real Louisiana shit
like real Louisiana
yo is van here
coming there
put the tip up there
he one time he asked Harvey
like you know
he's always trying to make
business moves
and stuff like that
and put people on man
love pee
all love to pee
but
god damn it
all right
that's enough
we miss anything
no I think we're good
we're good
yeah I'm looking at this stuff
we didn't miss anything
what else is going on
what's going on
on what y'all y'all y'all y'all how'd y'all feel y'all camera you put the camera in there y'all brought
that in you y'all feel good about or what i feel solid it's tough it's so tough everything's going on
right now it's tough yeah it wasn't well i guess we we had some fun on the podcast i wasn't i wasn't at
my best on this podcast i've been i have not like i ate i ate i'm on two hours of sleep i did not
sleep last night i ate cake too late last night does that keep you up hummingbird cake what is that
So it's a cake you get at Magnolia Bakery.
And, yeah, and I asked like, you know.
You made a whole cake?
Well, no, no, see what I'm saying?
Now, why would you even assume that I eat the whole cake?
Well, because you said it like you, you said it like,
you said it like you ate the whole cake.
Like you couldn't go to sleep last night because you were just hyped up.
Like one slice couldn't have done that to you.
You had half?
Bernard, what's your horn?
Oh, it's like that?
No, really.
It's like
It's like that
Bernard would you think
One slice would keep him up
It had to have been half
No it wasn't half
Big one slice
It wasn't
I don't think Ben would eat like a whole cake
Can y'all stop talking about me like I'm not around
I did not eat the whole cake
Have you ate the whole cake?
I ate like I ate the cake
And the cake
And the cake kept me up
And it
Mashed bananas
Crushed Pineapple
Warm Spices and toasted Pecan
Finished with a tangy cream cheese
frosting that's what it was in the hummingbird cake that I had last night this humbug
cake is from magnolia bakery you can look it up it's a good cake right what's in it is it do got
some stuff in it now it does have stuff in it um banana pineapple I'm on this website they have all
that and but in a magnolia mannailia bakery cake yeah anyway it's good I like I had some I shouldn't
have eaten it but it gave me heartburn and that kept me up and so I couldn't really get the rest
that I deserve I have a lot of it I have a lot of it's true I have a lot of
one slice of the cake.
Look, I don't understand if you know, man, I'm fighting
with my body.
My body is going crazy.
You are losing weight for sure.
Yeah, for sure.
It's very noticeable.
But a late night,
it just sounded like that's what kept you up.
I too could not go to sleep last night.
I slept for maybe two hours.
So, apologies.
Sorry to all the messy fans.
What are you,
oh, you're going to be back on that.
I might, we might take it out.
You can take it out if you want.
Like, I'm not, I'm not tripping on it at all.
Fuck it. But look, I'll tell you straight up,
straight up like this.
Bernard, you chose the side, that's cool.
Like, you know what I'm saying? You chose the side.
That's cool. I didn't eat a whole cake.
I used to be able to.
So I didn't.
So it wasn't that far.
Did ever tell you about the rule of twos?
It wasn't that far fetched for me to say that then.
That's tell you about the rule of two?
You have not.
Okay, so the rule of three.
two in Star Wars is
there are two Sith at all time.
What's a Sith?
A Sith is, so the Jedi
are the good guys, kind of.
And the Sith
of the Bad Guy. So Darth Vader is a Sith.
Emperor Papalitin is a Sith. The Order
of the Sith. They're an ancient order of
Dark Side force users
that are obsessed with power
and whereas the Jedi are supposed to be
dispassionate and holistic and
all of this stuff, altruistic.
The Sith are about passion.
and power and using the dark side to like gain power.
And that's good.
But C's does.
See what whatever.
So the rule of two is that there's only two Sith ever.
A master and apprentice, two Sith.
Okay.
They can never be more than two with the rule of two.
They used to be more Sith, but they're so treacherous and devious that they take each other out.
It's your own two Sith.
The rule of two in my house was not master and apprentice growing up.
The rule of two in my house was that you would buy two of everything.
One was for the household and one was for me.
So there would be bought two orange juices.
That's like my dad.
One orange juice was for the household.
One was for me.
If they went and got chips, two big bags of chips.
Oh my God.
One for the household, one for me.
And there was only one rule.
Like, go to Krispy Kreme.
24 donuts bought.
One dozen donuts for everyone to share.
and a dozen donuts just for me.
The rule was this.
Once I had eaten all of mine or drank all of mine,
I couldn't have any more.
And if you want to see this nigger lose his fucking mind,
you let me finish my whole thing.
It happened with a bag of Doritos in 1994.
It's like you let me finish all of mine
and then even have one chip.
Like after I had finished mine
That was it
Which is a very fair rule
I thought it was
But I never, never adhered to it
How did you
Yeah
Oh did you hear the corner
I said glad I was a growing boy
The big ass nigga
How does that
Something had to happen
For the rule
The two Sith rule
To enter your household
There had to have been an episode
An event
I'll tell you what happened
The great fried chicken schism
Of 1992
too. My mother would make the
fried chicken. Whenever I saw that
calendar come out. It's the best.
Oh. I know. I know exactly.
Whenever I saw that color.
It's me mom and grandmother.
Whatever I would see that
culander come out, I was like,
nigger, we are on top of shit.
I knew something amazing
was getting ready to happen, right?
I knew something amazing
was getting ready to happen.
That calendar would be out there.
I would see it, see the feel,
the oil, the kitchen would be slightly
warm because the oil would be
heating the kitchen up. I'm like, she frying chicken. We end this bitch. Okay, so she fries chicken.
She fries chicken. And then the next day, I'm sick. I'm not at school. I was feeling
a little bad. She actually made the fried chicken as a comfort food to me. The next day, I'm sick. I'm sick.
I'm sick. I stay home from school. It's Monday. I'm home from school. So I'm there all day with
the fried chicken that we have. And we have an air, not an air fire, but we have a, what you call it?
It's a, um, portable ovens.
Yeah, it's like a, what do you call it?
Like a toaster oven.
It is a toaster oven.
So we have a toaster oven.
So like, you, you take the fried chicken and you put it in the toaster oven,
you bring that motherfucker back.
You're ahead of your time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So we in there, you know, and I'm there all day long.
And I'm like, all right, this is what I'm going to do.
I'm sick.
I'm not feeling well.
And it's like, I'm going to wait until about 11.
and that's going to start my day with the chicken.
I'm going to have a couple pieces of chicken,
but I remember everybody else wants some chicken
when they come home.
Daddy going to want some chicken,
mama going to want some chicken,
Ebony going to want some chicken.
Ebony might have been out of the house,
but I can't remember.
So I put the chicken in the toaster oven.
I sit down and I'm watching like,
maybe like the Rosie O'Donnell show.
So I'm watching daytime talk shows.
Yes, yes, as we did when we were sick.
We were sick.
So I'm watching it.
Man, that chicken was busing.
That chicken was going crazy.
So 12, I go and I put two more pieces.
All right.
Again, you know, I'm going through it, whatever, whatever.
Man, 3.30, I put a couple more pieces in there.
Then I get in there, it's only a thigh and a wing left.
And I'm like, it makes no sense to just leave the thigh and the wing in the thing by itself.
Because, like, that looked crazy.
So I'm like, I might as well fucking finish.
shit off. You know what I'm saying? Put the thigh in the wind in there, bust it down.
Mama got home. She laughed. She was like, man. It's like what? Boy! Are you, first of all,
are you feeling better? I'm like, yeah, you must be feeling better because you ate that whole,
you ate the whole thing and chicken. I'm like, I ate it over the course of the day. She was like,
laughing, laughing, laughing. She was like, son, your father is not going to appreciate that. And that was
the first moment that I realized
that this nigga had been working all day
in the heat
going crazy
and on his mind the
whole day was that he was
going to come home and pop
a piece of chicken inside
of the motherfucking
toaster oven and get to it
and he comes home
and he goes in there he's in the good mood he hugs her
how you feeling boy? I'm like I'm good
and he goes in the other room
and he opens, he opens, I see, he, I can feel it, he opens the refrigerator, he's in the
kitchen, I'm in the living room, he opens the refrigerator, and he, and all I heard was,
God damn!
Van!
When he really got mad, I come in there, he goes, boy, you got a problem.
You're going to be fucking 400 pounds.
He's like, boy, you got a fucking problem.
You got a problem.
Look at me, son.
Son, son, look at me.
Don't eat no more chicken.
He just gave a standing order.
Don't eat any more chicken.
No more chicken.
Like he just gave a standing order.
Boy, don't eat no more chicken.
Don't eat nothing.
Son, get out of here.
Get out.
Get out.
Go.
And mom was like, the boy sick.
He's like, he ain't sick.
Look, he didn't ate a whole goddamn chicken.
Get the fuck out of here.
So I left.
I went to Ryan's house, sniffling, snod, and going crazy.
Ryan's like, what's wrong with you?
We're playing the game.
I come back home and dad goes, son, I'm going to get you your own stuff.
But when you eat yours, don't eat no more food that the rest of the family can have.
Because you're eating us out of house and home.
I was wanting some chicken the whole day.
Then he got on me, went crazy, and then he went to Popeye's and got all new chicken.
He went to Popeyes.
He was like, I'm going to.
I've got to have it.
Now, I've got to have it.
Now I've got to have it.
So he went up to Popeyes, got all new chicken, brought it back.
It was good for that night.
But that's when the rule came in.
I'd stay pretty good with it and then, you know, in 94, the Doritos.
We'll say that for another day.
We'll say that for another day.
I actually ate a whole bag of Doritos and I ate a whole big super bag of Doritos
and I ate a whole like thing of Oreos.
And I actually had to go to urgent care.
I was going to say, if you don't believe that's a true thing, ask my mom.
We believe you.
I ate a whole thing of Oreos.
and a whole big bag of Doritos.
How old were you?
13 or 14.
And I had to go to urgent care.
I'm going to ask you one more time.
What?
Did you eat the whole cake?
No, shut up.
Tell you think caps off, do not stop learning.
I'm Van Lathen, Jr.
I'm Rachel and Lindsay.
Okay.
