Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome back to It Is What It Is. I'm Treasure Wilson, aka Stapp Baby, along with your host, Mace, and Kim. And y'all, today we are joined with our analyst Trista. Killer, what's good? Trish, what's going on? My goodness. Yo, Trish, Trish, Trish. I'm a bad way lost.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Trish, Trish, and you're going to put the towel on your head is crazy. You hate Detroit with a passion. I'm going to talk to M&M about this. I don't like this. It's going way too far. Somebody got to step in for it. You need a Detroit intervention. Mason, you got our money for being not on.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Before we get to anything else, where's the money, yo? Sick days. You're using all of them for sick days? So it's six days. You're using three six days. I'm just asking. Six days.
Starting point is 00:01:25 I think. Yeah, I saw Nick up here. Nick seemed like he was getting smarter sitting in my seat. Nick is all kind of pause. You didn't well, Nick. Yo, you can spin it if you want. So it's all three of these days. I don't mind three.
Starting point is 00:01:44 You said it's six days a year. That's what you said. You said all three days for Sunday? No, you said a season. You didn't say that, Nick. Matter of fact, we got the, we're bringing up. Yeah, we got a lot. You actually said two.
Starting point is 00:01:59 I tried to boost it up to six, though. That was the number you went with. Yeah, so that's for the year. No, it's for the season. This is the season. You said accountability. We're losing it. No, you said six.
Starting point is 00:02:14 You said six, um. Mace, I never said nothing. This is what your rules, bro? But what's the rule then? It's your rules. How are you talking to ask of me? What's the rule? We said six.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Okay. A year for the season. Okay. I'm asking you as amazing. I thought it was six for a season. Okay. Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't really have none too much to say to Trish anyway.
Starting point is 00:02:39 I just want to see. But you can go ahead, man. Yeah, it's a lot of things are everywhere. I'm confused about you. I'm confused about you. Not confused about you, but I'm confused about City Boys. So maybe I am confused about you. Yeah, because City Boys up 2000.
Starting point is 00:02:54 You're like about City Boys? up 2000. He's like, is he a city boy? Like, I don't. Did you see, the case? The case made him up. He might be up 3,000. Yeah, and I don't understand if I'm from the city.
Starting point is 00:03:06 And if I'm from the city, how I'm not a city boy? I don't get that. I don't know. Tristan, when you hear city boys, do you hear that as a good thing or a bad thing when you hear the term? I don't hear it as a good thing. That's why I was like, I don't see it as a city boy. But to each their own.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Well, left comments. I guess y'all still. So is city girls? good thing? I don't think so. Oh, you a city girl? I don't think so either. I would never promise a city girl. But literally you're not from the city. That too. That adds, but... I'm literally
Starting point is 00:03:35 from a city. You know what I'm like, I'm country. Something is claiming like, yo, country. Should we be like country boys up $2,000? I don't get that. Murder, what you think about? What do you mean by city girls? Is it the group or is it a lifestyle?
Starting point is 00:03:51 I think it's a lifestyle. And it happened to be the name of a group. I don't like the city girls term. But City Boys is definitely up. I mean, if you think about all the late relationship, the City Boys is definitely up. Okay. Well, on the conversation of City Boys,
Starting point is 00:04:08 this is the city, the Knicks. Yes. I guess in all asses out to the Knicks, man. I mean, everybody's sharing their second team. I haven't even shared my second. What? What? There's no deadline.
Starting point is 00:04:23 We just. It's a free fall. That one, we need paperwork. I mean, you in the portal? Stack got in the portal this year. I didn't even say I was in the portal yet. I didn't even use my portal. Who is your second team?
Starting point is 00:04:36 Who's your first team? I don't even know your first team. Who's your team? Who's your team, Ptie? My first team? No, I mean. Everybody got a second team. Now, everybody.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Everybody's bugging. I'm going to jump to get down. Paul. So I understand, Trish. It's a disease. It's going around. Oh, gosh. Stats started this.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Yes, I got one team. Is Boston your first team? Who is your first team, mate? Yes, who is your first team, P.T.? No, she's talking to you, Mace. We don't know your first team. I don't know your first team. The only team I ever really said I had was Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:05:18 My basketball team, I just been trying to find. What? You try to find. You try to figure out after all this time. How many years have we done the show base? I mean, things have changed. People have moved from team to team. The people that I used to like on the team are no longer on the team.
Starting point is 00:05:39 So you like players. You don't like teams. Yeah, yeah. I would basically say that. So who's your favorite player right now? Gen Z thing about you. That's a fact. Yeah, for real.
Starting point is 00:05:49 I mean, it's a different day. You know, the players are different. You got to follow your play. I don't even know what your favorite player is. Me neither. Like, what player? Who is your favorite player? Who is your favorite player?
Starting point is 00:06:04 Who is your team and who's your favorite player? I recall it was Batman one season. Yeah, Jalen Brown. I was going with Jalen Brown. I was my favorite player. Then it was KD, but they both, they both out. So your teams is out? I don't, I didn't have a team.
Starting point is 00:06:17 All right, all right, let's go with that. See, this is where we reel it back. The blue is for either. Testons, okay, see, you know, I can be seeing different things. That's why I wore the blue glasses. To keep my options open, pause, you know. Okay, well, we're going to go back to Knicks, Blue. So the Knicks beat the Sixers, 108 to 101, 2.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Trista, does it look like the Sixers have a shot in the series, and what did you think about this game? Yeah, I think it's going to be tough. This was the game for them to win, right? Like, you know, they were up. Maxi was doing his thing. Vijay Edgecombe and Barlow were playing really good defense on Jalen Brunson. They had a lead.
Starting point is 00:07:02 And even with, you know, Kat being in foul trouble, pretty much all of the bigs being in foul trouble, OG and Nobby still doing his thing, you still can't get that win. And even with Jalen Brunson having a super inefficient game, he comes in the fourth quarter and shows us why he's got ice water in his veins, why he's maybe one of the best fourth quarter playoff scorers in the league right now outside of maybe Sheigel just Alexander. So to me, this was the opportunity to steal one, and they just sort of let that thing go, let go of the rope late. And I think there were some crucial shots by, you know, Jalen Brunson,
Starting point is 00:07:41 by Josh Hart, that three, and really a lot of dumb turnovers for Philly. And, you know, they just went ice cold. So, yes, you can go back to Philly and who knows what's, going on with Embedde. He had an ankle and a hip injury pop up out of nowhere. I thought that maybe he was going to be out because of his appendicitis suture bursting open after McHale Bridges hit him in with his knee in the last game. But no, now we got phantom injuries coming up. And so I don't know if Joelle Embed is going to be back, but it did feel like the game that
Starting point is 00:08:14 they let slip away. Yeah, if you almost got 20 turnovers, you're not going to win that game. I don't care how close the game was. If you don't, in the playoffs, if you don't take care of the ball, the basketball, you're not going to win the game. And especially the team that normally went on the rebound side is going to be the champs, right? That's what they normally tell you.
Starting point is 00:08:35 It's going to ball down to taking care of basketball. And especially with this Nick team, if you got about five players in almost 20, that's going to be hard to stop. I don't know what they was expecting, you know, going with the team. shootout. Once you get Kat in 20, this team is dangerous. We know what Brunson bring to the table, but any time Kat shows up along with Jalen Brunson, this team could be dangerous. And I'm not
Starting point is 00:09:03 going to lie. There's only OKC that I fear when it comes to the Knicks. If the Knicks could come out of the East, they could win it all. I want to just say that. And I never thought I would say that. But looking at those games, if they keep this up, they could win it all. Yeah, if you never said it. And you'll change your mind next week. As it right now, as it right now, that makes could win it all. As of this moment. Look, this is what I'll say real quick. I don't even want to comment on the game.
Starting point is 00:09:37 The game, it was a great game. Philly did what they could do without Joe MB. Last minute, I did like the pace of the game without Joe MB because Philly plays a little slower when Joe L. B is on the phone. But I want to address something different. First of all, Trish, we're going to start with what happened when you was hating on Detroit and say they was out of here. What happened to that?
Starting point is 00:09:59 And then you come in with the next thing. Let's address Detroit real quick. Because you just diss Detroit and then that's why I had to catch you on social media. I couldn't catch you nowhere else because you was. You tried to ignore the Detroit one. You tried to ignore it. Oh, come on the show. time. I text you back. I call you back. Anytime you want me on the show, last minute, I'm here.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I'm not going anywhere. I said I was going to celebrate if Orlando won that series. But I feel like I'm sort of getting unfairly slander because the same thing you say about New York is the same thing I say about Detroit. Listen, what you guys think you want a title? You beat me. That's not my team. See, that's the whole thing, Trin's. You're deflecting. My team beat your team. We actually won. We'll get to that game next.
Starting point is 00:10:51 We're actually in the next round. So now you're deflecting. Detroit isn't your team. The Knicks ain't my team. But the end of the day, my team really won. But the way you're going hard against Detroit, you have no back, you have like no history on it. Me, I'm a New Yorker that watched the Knicks lose for 50 years.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Literally, not even figuratively. The literal 50 years, I watched it. What's your hate for Detroit? We still don't know why, so we're not in the same boat. Don't try and put us in the same boat. I'd be happy if the next one is. There's no hate.
Starting point is 00:11:24 Oh, there's no hate for Detroit. Come on, man. That's crazy. There's no hate. It's just facts. The facts don't care about your feelings, okay? The truth is, it's Cade, and it's a little Toby here and there, and that's pretty much it.
Starting point is 00:11:42 I don't really care whether Danis Jenkins showed up. and balled out here and there when Kay Cunningham was out, this is the big boy playoffs now. There's teams that can score and defend, not just defend like the Orlando Magic. It wasn't an accomplishment that you went down one three and ended up winning that game after 45 minutes of a scoring drought
Starting point is 00:12:05 from a team that shouldn't even been in the playoffs. I've been just trying to tell people this was not a true contender. And I still don't believe. I'm steady feet 10, toes in the ground with that take, and I'm not going anywhere. You was 10 toes down with Orlando, too. I'll move on from that because you're trying to spin it as much as you can spin it.
Starting point is 00:12:26 You were 10 toes down when they was down 3-1, and now you're spinning. Hey, they did what they're supposed to do. I hear you, your team is Portland. You put us on it, Denny. Congratulations. I have an announcement to make, though. This is what I really want to talk about. Congratulations to the Knicks for winning the second game.
Starting point is 00:12:43 But so people have been tagging me in my stories lately, right? So, first of all, let's just be straight up in there. Stephen A. nephew, Josh Smith, he's a diehard New York Fair. I'm talking about he ain't just a regular New York Fair. He goes to the games. He's outside in the crowd with the players, I mean with the fans after they win. He's in the bar celebrating. He doesn't go up to five, six in the morning.
Starting point is 00:13:10 So I'm not even going to say to other people. person's name because somebody's been tagging me because I mentioned Josh and then Sin City start tagging me more because I mentioned Josh. And now what I realized is this. When it comes to the Knicks, I'm not bringing up Sin City's name no more. He's not the leader on this show anymore murder for the Knicks.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Not anymore. The leader of the Knicks on this show is Josh Smith. Sin City's name will not be mentioned or associated with the Knicks on this show. What happened they said? He's following Josh. Josh Smith. Anything Josh do, they're all doing.
Starting point is 00:13:47 So Josh is the head of the New York Knicks. Coalition. Coalition. Yeah. And so Josh, I got Josh on line one because the Knicks won last night. Josh, what's up, man? Yeah, first of all, Trista. Cut to Trista?
Starting point is 00:14:01 I need to see Trista. Why you got that on? You know you need a Portland bubble talking about you cold. Why you got that on? It's cold outside, man. I'm just trying to support my folks from Harlem. No, that's enough.
Starting point is 00:14:21 I didn't hurt you talk. Mace, you got on blue glasses. I need to splash some orange paint around there. What's going on? Y'all have a New York show. Cam out here, you got a New York song. You have like, you're on rap. You got a Celtics warm up.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Hall-A. Jackie, what the fuck going on at this? And I told Stephen A. I'm like, you're going to call in. I can call in. I can curse a little bit up there. It's lit. I'm like, let me throw on my dip set jacket that I got from DVD in Miami. It's like, y'all know what's the fucking over and on?
Starting point is 00:14:51 I got the muscle with me. We in the, we in Manhattan. Oh, we got the muscle with them. The muscle with him is. Crazy. Can't, Kim, know how it is. I call him at 4 p.m. like, yeah, I'm just getting home. We've been outside for a whole fucking day.
Starting point is 00:15:10 What we doing? That ain't me. I don't got time for that. We're out here ripping the orange and blue. Jalen Brunxon. Yo, I told you. Who is playing? Who is playing right now?
Starting point is 00:15:23 Who is playing right now? It ain't no game. I ain't Stephen A. I'm really out here for that blue and orange. We're in the streets with it. Look at me. It's a block.
Starting point is 00:15:34 I'm going to go to y'all block. Call up, St. Call up six, Joe. We're in Harlem and all that. We outside of Manhattan, bro. Yo, Ken, I'm in full uniform. You don't forgot. You don't forgot.
Starting point is 00:15:49 Let me put the bird in the, let me put the bird in it. What are you talking about? Josh, let me ask you a question, man. Ask me. This is how hype you was last year in round two. What makes you think this year was different from last year? I'm going to tell you what I'm going to talk. It's not different.
Starting point is 00:16:06 It's the same. Last year we overachied. We beat the Celtics. You ain't pick us to do that. Now, Y'all didn't pick us to win a championship. Y'all pick us to get there. So we got to overachieve again,
Starting point is 00:16:16 and now overachieving is winning the whole thing. Tell them, Mace, you like winners? Fuck with the Knicks. Yeah. Tristan, I was thinking, you were talking about this last week. This is why you can't tell that bounce. We don't need much time. We don't need much time.
Starting point is 00:16:38 We're making everybody believers. Listen, this coat, Josh, has been in the closet for years. This thing came out in 2024. There hasn't been a lot of reasons to wear it. There's no pills on it, but here we are. You need a pelle. Wait, wait, Josh, she's not official New York until she got a blue and orange pelle. She need a pelle that be a real New York fan.
Starting point is 00:17:08 I agree with the pele. shit, but Fat Joe got a pelle. And in game, what was it? Game three, game three against the Atlanta we got smoked out by a 35 year old T.J. McCollum because bad Joe wanted to wear all yellow.
Starting point is 00:17:25 So you own an appellate that they gave you. You own a pelle that they gave you and you chose to wear all yellow. I don't fuck with Fat Joe until we win his chip. I don't care how he feel about it. So let me ask you this, Josh.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Are you guarantee If y'all, it don't matter who goes to the chip, y'all are going to win the chip because I know y'all have success against the spurs. You think y'all are going to be OKC if OKC makes it to the chip as well? Yo, I'm praying for O'KC. You know why?
Starting point is 00:17:56 Because they start in center is our backup. That's the little brother to the guy that comes off the bench for us. Mitchell Robinson was starting. What's his name? Hartstein. Hartin's style. Coming off the bed, I don't even remember your name.
Starting point is 00:18:13 You're okay, see, now you don't got a chip. Fuck out of here. You know what? I ain't going to do that to Harden song, but I don't like you no more. I'm going to keep it a bin. I don't like you no more. You win the same colors as us. Get them out of here.
Starting point is 00:18:25 We're going to win it this year. Hallie Burton and a bunch of niggas I don't know took them to seven. You mean to tell me Jalen Brunson and Kat. OG look like Kowai 2019. Can't beat them? It's our year, that's it, man. Anybody else is getting it? But Halliburton took y'all to seven and your loss.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Now, he actually beat us in six, and that's because we had... Six, okay. We had Tom Tibido, who's currently on the unemployment line, and that's because you wasn't playing the whole team. Pack him up. You ain't worth it. Mike Brown, you can get fired, too. Because you ain't played Dea Wari.
Starting point is 00:19:07 You've been playing them all year, and today you play. What's his name? I don't know. Hucky Poty. The name of Huckie Pony. The muscle. The muscle. The muscle.
Starting point is 00:19:18 The poor muscle. I ain't allowed. He had Huckie Poty in, and then when he had Sackron, checking in for Hucky Pordy, I was ready to lose it. I'm like, yo, I'm going to go to the garden and slap the shit out of Mike Brown. But you know what? We won. We're here now, it's still dipset.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Kim, Mace, I know you, you form a bad boy. We figured that out. But, like, New York is back in here. They didn't win in 96. They didn't win in 92. When Mace had a number one album, we figured out is crazy. And it's me.
Starting point is 00:20:02 We've figured out it's crazy. I just. So before we let you go, man, I just want to let everybody know you're the official head of the Knicks Coalition as far as it is what it is concerned. I'm not bringing up anybody else's name unless they talk to you first. Is there any other fans you want to address this Nick fans that you have a problem with that you think may be jinx in the situation before we let you go? Because we already see how what time you want with the Knicks. That's a whole fact.
Starting point is 00:20:34 First of all, stop letting these rappers in because all they do is get the front row. and try to get a feature by the other people that's in the front row. I need to be in there because if I'm in there and we're playing, who's next? Cleveland, maybe Detroit. Isaiah Stewart out there, Wailing, I'm going to trip you on some front row shit. What you're doing up there? You're not about to do nothing. In fact, Joe, I've seen the last round.
Starting point is 00:21:00 We hit damn near a game winner, a clutch shot. He's just sitting there talking to Ben Stiller. What's y'all trying to do? Make Zoolander three? I don't give a fuck about none of that. We're trying to win this shit. We didn't win this 73. Stop playing with us.
Starting point is 00:21:14 It's our year. Nixon 6. I know you like winners. It's our year. Get with it. So you cool with Spike Lee and Tracy Morgan and everybody. No, I'm not. I'm not.
Starting point is 00:21:29 I didn't bring them up because they've been around long enough, and I think that they pay their money for their seat. But Stephen A. They just signed to $100 million. Get me my seat. I need to be. I need two seats. I need one under each basket
Starting point is 00:21:41 so that when the other team is going on and it's switching at halftime, I'm under each basket telling niggas, you fucking whack. You're whack. You're not going to make a free throw.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Use a bum. Yo, we got to win. That's it. Niggas is on the line. The train takes, cost $6 now. Why? Because a Knicks win?
Starting point is 00:22:01 Yo, we better win the whole thing. I've got time for this. Everything is more expensive now. Gas, $9 a gallon. I didn't get my contract yet. Y'all ain't signed me. What we doing? All right.
Starting point is 00:22:13 We got it. We got it, John. We're going to bring you back for game three. I like his attitude. Yeah, I love his attitude. I like his attitude. That's a hell of his attitude. That's a hell of his own.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Yeah. And I think that so he should be the head of the movie. He's trying to get features. Yeah. He got a Jaylen Brunson shirt. Jalen Brunson shirt. He's trying to get features. He's crazy.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Yeah. Listen, man, listen, I wore a dipset coat on some trolling shit. B.B. Gaiters to me in Miami. B.B. A real shooter. I know about him, Kim. But under the dip set jacket, I got the Jalen Brunson, three-point shooter shit. You know that. I don't give a fuck. I'm in the car because I'm not at the parade that's outside the car. You don't want to see what's going out here. Stomping out, niggies with six jerseys.
Starting point is 00:23:02 But I'm going to keep it clean. I'm going to mess up Stephen A. Conchrist. But listen, we can. We got Jay. Move your finger, man. Move your finger. Oh, yeah. Yo, I didn't have nine drinks. Biddle me drinks and all.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Like, you don't want to see what's going on here. Hey, you got to get. Josh, Josh, you got the job on this show. You're the head of the Knicks' coach. Listen, go ahead and finish having your front. And we're going to see you game three, all right? No more. We're not talking to nobody, no other Nick fans.
Starting point is 00:23:31 You just got the Nick coalition job. And I'll see you after game three. One lose the draw. All right, yeah. When losing, draw, I'm on. All right, back. Wow. Knicks fans.
Starting point is 00:23:46 Scared of them. That's not New York. You know what? He basically packed you up, Trish. Take the jacket off. He basically, he said he don't want your support. He doesn't need it. Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:24:01 So there you have it. Maybe you have to say. Well, thanks to Josh for the Knicks analysis. In the comments down below, which y'all think, especially Nick's fans, because now it's your time to shine. We're going to go to break. When we return, we will get into the Spurs versus the Timberwolves.
Starting point is 00:24:18 She called us thing about toxic. Got you feeling like an option. Maybe I'm my own problem, babe. She's tired of hearing, I don't know. Welcome back. So the Spurs. gave the Timberwolves a beatdown, winning 133 to 95 to even this series. Trista, what did you think about this game? And then what do you think was the problem for the Timberwolves?
Starting point is 00:25:02 Yeah, I mean, at a certain point, I was pretty surprised that Ant Edwards played even in game one. He comes back in game two. Not a very good performance, not very efficient. You know, you got I.O. de Sumo, he comes in. He has to leave the game. It really just felt like the spurs were faster. It felt like even off of makes, they were running out into transition, getting easy buckets. It felt like they had their defense on lockdown and the Timberwolves really didn't come to play. To me, like all in all, it felt like as soon as the lead started to creep up more and more for San Antonio, it was like the Timberwolves knew, hey, we already have one in the bag. Let's try to get Aunt back healthy. Let's try to get back to Minnesota and see what we can do
Starting point is 00:25:46 there. It was just a brick fest, truly. Both teams at one point were shooting under 40%. I think the Timberwolves were shooting 30%. To me, that was just kind of the game in a nutshell. Wembe and Deeran Fox came to play in a way that they didn't really show up in game one. So yeah, I thought it was really more about like, okay, let's just, we already have one game in hand. Let's just go back to Minnesota. Yeah, it totally looked like they could completely collapse. When you you think of this Minnesota team, it only to me felt like that Randall was playing just a little bit, and he only had 12, but this San Antonio team just got too many weapons. Sometimes I used to think that Vassell and Castle was like kind of the same person. When you're looking from afar,
Starting point is 00:26:35 they look like the same person on the court, but they got too much firepower when it comes to the wings, and then they got Harper coming off the bench. So this team is just going to be. be too much. I was surprised that they lost the first game. I really thought this should have been a series that should have ended 4-1. I really had this series being 4-1, so I was even surprised that Minnesota was able to get that first game. But I don't see them winning any more games. I think this is a foregone conclusion. It's going to be San Antonio in OKC. Well, you might be right, 4-1. This is really my team. There's no guessing. I don't. There's no guessing. I don't. I don't. I don't, have a player.
Starting point is 00:27:17 I'm not trying to figure out what color they're wearing. I'm just really, you know, you know, um, all right, you got a picture. You got a picture of you in this. I had the San Antonio. I knew he's going on there. I already knew it before. Yeah, and I got pictures of me with all the San Antonio Gil on, like rapidly. You know, before you was probably on that team.
Starting point is 00:27:40 It was my team back, Sean Elliott. Who was, who was coaching? I don't remember all I never said I was into the coach It's no problem man You know The one thing I can't agree on with Mace's I'm surprised we lost the first game
Starting point is 00:27:59 Second game when much is expected I ain't got nothing to say man What I am surprised is this And I know like they like Trish said It's really one shocking to Anthony I was came back The first game I don't know how healthy he is
Starting point is 00:28:13 But he definitely played the first game game, but I was kind of shocking he came off the bench again. I thought he might have been healthy enough to start. But whatever it is, I hope he is healthy, you know, not wishing any bad luck on him. But if you don't have a healthy hit, man, it's just not going to work out, especially when you're shooting 52% from the free throw line. That's definitely not going to help. Less than 50% from the field, 30% from three-point line.
Starting point is 00:28:37 But 52% from the free throw line, this game was over with a halftime, to be totally honest, switch. We came out, we did what we had to do. We ain't like what we went down in game one. I'm not going to get into a bunch of stats. We bust their ass. We bust their ass. We had nine niggas off the bench to score. We got the rain in the sixth man a year. Lorne with Harper coming off the bench. We're them niggas. We're them niggas. You know, first time in the second round for the whole team. You know, De Aaron Fox is the most experienced. He went to seven games with the Golden State Warriors when he was with the Sacramento Kings. So this was his first playoff win last series.
Starting point is 00:29:14 It comes, you know, we'll have a couple bumps in the row. It's going to be a couple bumps in the row. But we'll pack Ant Man up the same way we pack Nanny up. And we're going to the next round, man. Both of them are injured. That's what they have in common. What happened? I said both of them were injured.
Starting point is 00:29:33 That's what they have in common. Best abilities of illibility. I was going to call it. There you go. Yeah. There you go. We don't count that up. We don't play that up.
Starting point is 00:29:42 Patrician. No more mediocrity. Yeah, that's that. Yeah, I've got to play. True. Okay, and I know he's so hyped, too, because throughout the whole year, no, because like you can be.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Throughout the whole year, we've had our teens, we've seen them go down, and you... To be honest, see, that's the difference between me and Josh, right? Who's celebrating being in the second round? Like, yo, who's out at a bar right now celebrating? The only New York fans, man,
Starting point is 00:30:12 you gotta love them niggas. See, all. organization like us, this is what we do. We haven't been, you know, we haven't really been to playoffs in close to eight, nine years. So, you know, it is a stat for us to be one in the playoffs series like, okay, cool, we're back in the playoffs. But are we outside going crazy? Like, yeah, yes, we did it. We second round.
Starting point is 00:30:31 No, no. You know why? Because we got banished, recent banished, not no shit from the 70s. We got banished this century up there in the bleachers. At the top of the Raptors, we got 2000 and beyond. on Banners. You know who hanging around the games? Even though this team
Starting point is 00:30:48 doesn't have experience as far as the players are concerned, you know who hanging around? David Robinson, Tim Duncan, they flashed the camera another day or Manu Ginoblee. You can go talk to the,
Starting point is 00:31:00 those are more, those are things with multiple championships. Not just champion, multiple champions. They lingering. They're around the building. This is what we do. I just haven't been done
Starting point is 00:31:12 a little while, you know. It is what we do. do, though. So I'm not really excited. I'm not going to jump off the ledge like, oh, yo, this is what we do. So thank you, Stapp, for saying I could be. But when you're used to this, what are we doing? To be honest, to be honest, the spurs are the beneficiary of the rigged NBA. Yeah, whatever you want to put it. I know that we got three, three, in the last four years, we got top five draft picks in the last three, four years. Nick was pointing that out to me. You got the alien, then we got Stefan Castle,
Starting point is 00:31:49 then we got Dylan Harper. Oh, well, don't get mad at us because that's the way the NBA put it together. Oh, well, and now we're reaping the benefits from the rigged NBA. Whatever, whatever. David Robinson as well, Tim Duncan, every time you guys have a little blurp,
Starting point is 00:32:07 all of a sudden you guys get a transcendent big man. Yeah, shit lit, right? Should it's super deep or lit for us. Yeah, that is something to think about. But see, this is, you know, my problem is, see, Trish maybe can have that argument if she wants because she's in a market like Portland. When people from big markets say that about the Spurs,
Starting point is 00:32:28 I'd be like, yo, do you think, like, like, for instance, when somebody say Rig, Lotto, or whatever, do you think it's not better for the NBA when the Lakers are winning or when the Knicks are winning than the San Antonio Spurs or the Oklahoma City Thunder or any smaller market. It is super duper lit for the NBA when a big market is winning.
Starting point is 00:32:51 That's a good point. It would be better for the listening to the Lakers. To the Lakers or to the Knicks. So when it would be like, oh, y'all got this? Yo, bro, it'll be a very big deal if you get Tim Rout, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, or whoever she just named the alien. Imagine Wemby in New York.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Yeah. Come on, man. Come on. You take the NBA thing. It went that way. So whatever, you're not going to, listen, man, you're out there on a raft and you want to get on a boat. And we have no raft fight.
Starting point is 00:33:23 We have no lifeline for you, Trish. We'll come back around in September and we'll see you that. Hopefully you'll get a boat by then. But you're not going to spoil our parade because you know what I told everybody, Mace and stat? What's going to? Wherever Trisha's rooting for, go against it. Just bet against it.
Starting point is 00:33:40 You'll make money. And please don't pick us for nothing, Trisha. We don't need your vote. The juju. You don't need anything. She said Detroit. She said, Portland, right now, please do not pick us. She out on Nick fans.
Starting point is 00:33:51 I was going to say. She got out in Nick jersey. If the Knicks don't win, let's come back to this clip right here. Right here. I don't know. Just to start calling you the jinx. You don't want that. You don't want that.
Starting point is 00:34:06 I've been there. The Portland jinx. Yeah, because you know what happened? Stap bidded to Mo and then Moe lost. No, yeah. And more ain't been the same since. Very much. Okay, well, in these games, there's been a lot of surprises and disappointment.
Starting point is 00:34:23 So just talking overall from what we've seen so far, Trista, which player, in your opinion, has been the biggest letdown? Well, I wanted to say James Hardin, but you can't really be let down if you already expected it, right? The idea of a disappointment is that you had high hopes and then they let let you down. You get up and then you deflate. And I think for me, even though Hardin's been awful,
Starting point is 00:34:52 he's had like five and a half turnovers a game, 43 turnovers through the eight postseason games that he's been there, including the eight turnovers in game three against Toronto and seven in game one against Detroit. To me, it's been Donovan Mitchell, because we look at Spider as the go-to guy. New York wanted him when he ended up leaving Utah. And he was the bell of the ball.
Starting point is 00:35:16 He was the guy that was supposed to take a team over. And he's just been awful, like truly terrible. He's shooting 44% from the field in the postseason. But really, it's not the efficiency that bothers me. It's the fact that he's changing his entire offensive profile because he's too worried about not getting foul calls. He's talking shit saying, oh, like, I guess I got a flop. He's doing the same thing that Jalen Brown did when he got up on the stream after they lost in game seven to the Sixers,
Starting point is 00:35:46 basically blaming all of his offensive deficiencies on the refs. So he's shooting floaters, he's shooting pull up threes, and he's not hitting them. So to me, the reason that the Cavs' offense has been so anemic and awful is not just James Harden turning the ball over and giving you these disgusting plays, is because Donna Mitchell has been on a post, on a milk carton. And I know that that may be not as bad as how glaring James Hardin's mistakes have been. But I feel like if you're a star and you consistently disappear and you've never been past the second round, like to me, you're the most disappointing. Wow.
Starting point is 00:36:25 I was going to say that, but I think somebody else is more disappointed. I think all of this hoopla was about when Austin Reeves and Lucas. could come back, right? And Austin Rees have been back, but he's been really, really quiet. He's been, I think that's the most disappointing part, even when you see that Laker game get way out of control. We hopefully will talk about that at some point because Joy wouldn't never let this happen, but that's a whole other conversation. Austin Rees is my big. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I heard if LeBron
Starting point is 00:37:02 beat the Houston Rockets, he was the goat. Did that not get said on this show? Katie wasn't playing. Oh. That was our clarity question. That was a clarity. We cleared that up. But keep trolling.
Starting point is 00:37:18 I like it for you, you know? You know? Please. Keep it. I like that for you. Ain't that how you said? Yeah. That gives me the lingo.
Starting point is 00:37:35 City girls down bad right now. Yeah, city girls down bad right now. Oh, and port, for it. Down 1,000. Down 100,000. Did y'all see that coin case, though? Did you see it? But he paid you.
Starting point is 00:37:49 She said, but it was a lot of things happened. It's like, what? What was your name again? It's like, what? There was a lot. Yeah. There's a lot.
Starting point is 00:38:00 There's a lot. That's got angels. I'm telling you that. That boy got angels. There was a lot. Okay, Ken. My most disappointing person in the playoffs is actually out the playoffs. I'm just going through who people.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Yeah, I like it. The pro's disappointing person for me in the playoffs this year was Devin Booker. Devon Booker could not win one game against the Oka's Homer City Thunder. and not only didn't win a game, got on and started complaining and talking about how Shay is flopping and the ruffs are giving them favoritism.
Starting point is 00:38:39 And I didn't think he would get on there complaining. But, you know, we've seen, even though KD and Bradley Bill was playing, we've seen them get swept also to the Timberwolves a couple years ago. You know, it wasn't that long ago, me and Mace was out there in Phoenix. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:56 And it looked like they had a good thing. going on. They had, you know, they tied the series up against Denver. That's the game we went to. And then Denver just came out. Yeah, it got out of control. Yeah, got out of control. I think of it Denver actually won it.
Starting point is 00:39:11 He got great. Joe can turn this to some other nigga. Me and Mason, it live. I couldn't believe it. We went to the game they won, and then when they got, they are smacked by Denver. And this is somebody that, you know, Mason myself was almost ready to be like,
Starting point is 00:39:26 he got the mamba men. mentality, look at him, you know, he's serious, the mid-range game, he gets to the basket, he scores 70 points in the game, yada, yada, yada. And then from that to this to where now you're not winning one playoff game. You understand the Oklahoma City Thunder has been the best team in the league all year round, but can't get one. Yeah, Devin Booker this year is the most disappointing player. Not only that, I know it was more towards Dylan Brooks, but you got Shay Trump. y'all niggins. She's like laughing
Starting point is 00:40:00 and the niggins almost. Yeah, he's like, yo, who is, this disrespect towards that team, that series was out of control. And for me, I take shit like that personal because we just see the memes
Starting point is 00:40:15 and maybe the highlights. We don't know what goes on in between the lines, right? Mace. He might, he might, yo, you washed. Yeah, he might hit you with all that. You know.
Starting point is 00:40:27 He might know. Yeah, light skin niggas is played out, my nigga. We don't know what are you telling the nigga? I would take it personal. So for me, this season, like I said, I know he's still not playing, but we're talking about the whole playoffs as a whole. It was Devin Booker. Yeah, he might be talking crazy to him.
Starting point is 00:40:43 You ain't ice, man. Yeah, all that. Yeah, all that, my nigga. So exactly. He's talking to him crazy. Yeah, so at the end of the day, like I said, I just expected more from Devin Booker at this period. his career. Yeah, whoever, whoever made the Cancun on 3, that was a really good one.
Starting point is 00:41:04 That was a really good one. Yeah. He needed a little bonus spas. They snapped. I know I asked in this particular question about specific players, but before we move on, I do want to get your opinion because we didn't get your take just on the Celtic, the Celtics being out the playoffs in general, because I know we didn't really get your take on that, but just how do you feel about that? We're talking about disappointments. Yeah, it might be, it might be back to the, it might be back to the, it might be back to the 90s it's over for light skin niggas it might be i don't know um tatam came back you know and i think tatum came back kind of messed up messed the chemistry the chemistry up not that tatum is not
Starting point is 00:41:43 tatum don't take my take and make it mean anything else tatum is definitely like one of those ones like he actually comes to play he actually gives busy but i think it kind of messed up what they had going and then everybody had to kind of switch their role when he came back. And that ambiguity when it comes down to who team it is, that got to be sure because when they start getting to close games, it messes up how we're going to function, right? Sometime you know on this, your hand is hot, we're going to you.
Starting point is 00:42:16 You're the person that got it rolling. Let's go. But, you know, when you don't have it, he got to be able to take the second seat and say, let's ride with Jalen Brunson. And I think this team just fell apart. I don't know exactly what happened, but something happened. When things happened like this, especially, I think they was up 3-1.
Starting point is 00:42:37 I think they were actually, they had this series in a bag. And then, you know, you get the going and you're saying, and you lost the Philly out of all teams. You should have never lost the Philly. I don't see no reason for them to lose the Philly. But when you got Joe L&B, you know, you got to have somebody to guard him, but they should have never lost for this team. See, this is my problem with that.
Starting point is 00:43:00 And I think you're right to a certain extent because Jalen Brown is Batman and let's say they were having that problem with chemistry. Tatum said, okay, you've been winning all year. Go get two. Yeah. And Jalen Brown ain't do it. Because Tatum didn't play the games
Starting point is 00:43:16 when they got eliminated. He didn't play. He said, okay, I'm messing the chemistry up. You that nigger. Go on out there. Batman. You better. Right.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Go rock out. Rock out, Batman. You go ahead, nigger, you're that nigger, right? And you couldn't get it done. Because Mace, I think you're correct with that part. Jason Tater might have been hearing the rummless. Oh, yo, the chemistry. Yeah, the chemistry is crazy.
Starting point is 00:43:43 This time. I bet. You know what? Let's see if you figure this out, though Lord, he did. Let me ask you this, Mace, because you wasn't here for this. And Tris, I asked you as well. But I'll start with Mace. Jalen Brown right after they lost
Starting point is 00:43:59 goes on Twitch 10 and 11 hours afterwards it starts twitching you know what I'm saying? Bad idea. Yeah, yeah, and then I don't care if you don't like my new name I called it twitching.
Starting point is 00:44:12 See that because he thinks of twitching. Yo, so some of the things he said was that, you know, he started saying well, he said this before drumbeat is flopping. But the thing that stood out to me more than anything, he says he's not upset. And to him, this was his best year career-wise.
Starting point is 00:44:36 How do you feel about that statement knowing that Jason Tatum didn't play most of the year? And he was really the man. And then he says it's his best year career-wise when he gets bumped in the first round. And a couple years ago, you won a championship, which you got league, not pardon me, finals MVP and playoff MVP, but he said this year is his best year. So those were the statements he made and I gave you the facts around the statement he made
Starting point is 00:45:03 10 hours after getting eliminated. What do you feel about that, Mason? I think that's horrible for a person of that caliber because this is the guy that definitely got lower in points as the season went on. If you look at the last game, five, six, and seven, right? These are the three games they lost back to back.
Starting point is 00:45:29 He's in the 18, 17-point range. And then when you think about, like, just that statement alone, how is it your best year if you guys are not winning? Like, that's crazy to even say. That's not a championship way of thinking. You know, that's an individuality on a bad team might win 45 games. games or so, you know, that's just a bad mentality.
Starting point is 00:45:56 That's a playing mentality. That's an A-Ced mentality of a guy that's playing at that caliber. I think when he's saying this, I don't know where he's getting that from. I really don't know. And I don't like that because this Boston team just a couple years ago was a championship team. So it's horrible to him say that. Trish, what do you say? And to that point, Tatum only didn't play the last.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Last game, Tatum played game six and seven. But I'm just asking about a statement. But that's what I'm saying. God didn't give me one, nigga. Yeah. Got to get one. Since you're the man. You got to get one.
Starting point is 00:46:36 But yeah, you're right. He only didn't play game seven. But I wasn't even talking about that. I was about the statement. But, God, Tris. But you're right. Yeah, I mean, and then you add in some of the other things that he said, which sort of add additional context or weirdness for me.
Starting point is 00:46:52 he said he was like showing plays individual plays that were that were valid but he got called as offensive fouls he showed this paul george like sort of like light push off that happens in the league all the time and and he tried to say well he did say i believe that refs are going into a room and conspiring against me and that i have an agenda specifically against me and that i am as like essentially isolated from all the other stars for whatever reason. And goes out and has a whole crew standing behind him like he's RG3 when his wife in the back. Yeah, it was crazy. The whole thing was crazy. And for him to say, okay, this is my best year.
Starting point is 00:47:43 And so for me, it was like pretty damn good when this is the first year that you guys have been bounced in the first round, it shows to me on top of that, Because Tracy McGrady came out and just said, I think, either today or yesterday, that J.B. is very unhappy with the Boston Celtics organization. He's feeling very frustrated with the organization as a whole. That shows to me that maybe there is something where we were,
Starting point is 00:48:07 everybody was saying, oh, you guys are making something out of nothing. Maybe there is like a little bit of friction between Tatum and Brown in terms of who should be the alpha and who wants to be the alpha. And now J.B. felt it was his best year. because he was the only Batman. There was nobody to compete with until almost the season was over with. This is like that year when Scotty,
Starting point is 00:48:31 when they ran to play for Tony Cool Coach, right? Like what Cam say, you want to be the guy and then they put the ball in your hand or the things don't go a certain way and now you're mad. But these are the type of things. You've got to make sure these things go well,
Starting point is 00:48:47 Jalen Brown, because it'll play into your legacy, right? It's stuff just like this that can begin to be a spiral, no matter how good of a player you are. Your image matters towards this sport that we call basketball. And I definitely think you should pay attention to that. Because so far you've been doing very great, but it's just the explosive things that you say outside of basketball that make people pay attention to you or things you say. You just got to find a better way to say it.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Because what you're saying, I understand what you're trying. to say, but there's a better way to say it. Nah, I think the shit was whack. I'm not even sugar-coding. It's dumb-wack. It shit was corny. And you felt like that, say it amongst your niggas. You don't get on the fucking streaming
Starting point is 00:49:34 and say this is the best year you had. And you've been to six conference finals. You've been the six conference finals as a Boston Celtic. And then, like I said, you win a championship and you win an MVP. You get bumped in the first round. and then you say the best year you have because Jason Tatum didn't play.
Starting point is 00:49:52 Now, to what Trish said, it may be some friction, which we don't know, but basically you're saying, I like being out here by myself whether we win or lose or whatever. I dig it.
Starting point is 00:50:04 Secondly, what you said, Trish, this first time I'm hearing that. I'm not saying wrong, I'm just saying it's first time I'm hearing it. How the fuck you got a problem with the Boston Celtics after they gave you $320 million? Now you got a problem with niggas.
Starting point is 00:50:16 I hate that. Yeah, that's a come on, my nigga, mom. Yeah, yeah, I hate that shit, bro. I hate it, my nigga. Like, that's like saying, right? And I know this nigga and this nigga know me, right? And that's like me going on, say Mace is out for the week. Say I'm out, like, I'm out.
Starting point is 00:50:37 Let's use the reverse. I'm out for the week. And Mace goes on another podcast, you're like, yeah, this is the best weeker it is is what it is ever. I'm like, oh, really? It is. It is. This is what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:50:48 This is the shit. starts causing controversy amongst people. If you feel like that, keep it to yourself. Once you start putting the air, you're gonna have, you giving people an ammunition. Ammonition. Yeah, to work against the unit. Yeah, to start talking shit against people.
Starting point is 00:51:04 Keep it amongst you and your niggas and shut the fuck up if you really feel that way. And I'm talking about the part of, if he feel like the other stuff that he's talking about, this particular statement should have never been stated at all. all because I think these things start playing into his reputation and you know when you're in Boston you know Boston needs a certain image to run this organization that's just what it's always been and that's not going to change because today you can do the things that you're doing
Starting point is 00:51:36 yeah well that's the thing about Twitch though too because it's live it's not any pre-recorded it's no edits so a lot of the people who get on these platforms especially when they have something outside of that platform going on. It's just like if you don't know how to kind of navigate that or say certain things once it's already said, like, and this is why we're having a discussion about it, it becomes a whole separate thing that it didn't need to be and it could have been a lot less drama.
Starting point is 00:52:02 So maybe just internalize. Yeah, but that's what I'm saying too. Don't, first of all, you probably are a little emotional you lost, but then you're acting like you're not emotional, you lost. Yeah. Yo, take 48 hours to think about it, be like, I'm gonna do it. Yo, the nigger one,
Starting point is 00:52:17 on Mason 10 hours after the loss. Like, yo, take some time out. Yeah, go chill out. Yeah, do you think this is smart? But I think it's an addiction to, you know, younger people to the internet. They feel like they gotta say something right now. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:52:34 I gotta answer this right now. Or I was just, you ain't have nothing to answer. Yeah, you're running. You already lost. Yeah, like, do you think about all the stuff that happens off the court that you was alluding to, not just Jalen Brown, that's messing aflo. just off the court shit.
Starting point is 00:52:49 And not only that streaming shit, and I hate to bring it up. But, you know, John Moran gets off suspension. He in the car dancing with his man, a pistol show, is man, trying to put the phone down with her. Streaming.
Starting point is 00:53:01 Yo, get off of the live, nigga. Discossing, niggins. You know, not saying your job or anything, but you're going to be talked about, bro. I don't think that that was a good move. But at the same time, you know what I did think, Trish, you know what I did think, Stapmates?
Starting point is 00:53:15 Is that Jalen Brown's like, fucking, what was it? Like, Stanford, he's super smart. Cal Berkeley. Yeah, Cal Berkeley. Like, he's a super duper smart nigga, very intelligent. This was more calculated to me.
Starting point is 00:53:28 You know, he's not a wild random nigga. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, he's very intelligent because one time he was driving in the car and he was like, yeah, I need life to be more boring and things like that. And he was like, so I could stay focused
Starting point is 00:53:43 and stay on the path. And I thought that was really good as well. He's very smart. when he makes this statement, is you get 300 million. You know how it goes, killer. You got 300 million. Yeah, so I don't think, like I said,
Starting point is 00:53:57 some people would be like, oh, he should have waited, he should have did this, or I think he should have been emotional, which I said too, but then I thought about it, I'm like, this niggas is kind of like, he's always one of them genius niggas when they do the IQ test, he at the top of the lid.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Like, he's not a dumb nigga by any stretch of imagination, so I think that it might have been calculated. Yeah. Last thing before we wrap, because I think it all ties in, and we kind of had this conversation on a previous episode. So, Mesa, I want to get your perspective on it. We were talking about athletes, players, just like a range of them, kind of pursuing other careers, I guess, to be more culturally and socially relevant. And like one of the examples that came up was like Lamar.
Starting point is 00:54:35 Culturally and socially relevant. Yeah. So they're doing things outside of this sport. Yes. You sound like you already have thoughts. I do. Yeah. What is your opinion on that?
Starting point is 00:54:45 We talked about Lamar basically like wanting to become a reality star and like doing all these other things. Which Lamar? Oh, like back. Yeah. Back, back to win. But how do you feel about that? I think at the tail end of your career, it's okay to do stuff like that because you're looking to transition and to do stuff every now and then just to figure out what are we going to be doing after we play this sport that we love that we've been playing since we was five years old, six years. years old but I think the main thing has to stay the main thing if you want to be
Starting point is 00:55:20 great I just think about that all the time that's one of the reasons why people don't achieve greatness is because they got too many things on a plate I like to say when options is a bad thing some people think options is a good thing options is a bad thing for for greatness it was like when you saw the next playing Atlanta. We knew Atlanta was going to lose because they had other options. When people got options, they use them. Well, part of why we made it because we didn't have another option, right? So in this society that people are in now, they got a plan B, they got a plan C, they got all of these other things. And that's part of why greatness is not being produced at a higher level.
Starting point is 00:56:08 Not that it's wrong, but I'm saying it's wrong for greatness. Yeah, that's a dope perspective. Krista and Kim, any final thoughts? No, I agree with Mace 100%. I think... When you have to make it, you make it. There's a lot of athletes that I don't think want to be great. I think they want to be paid. I think they're supremely talented and gifted genetically.
Starting point is 00:56:34 They have maybe at one point they loved the sport that they were in, but it was a means to an end. And so it's all about maximizing how much money you can make. And a lot of that has to do with how many people, are in, you know, the Gen Z call it like a parasycial relationship with you, where they feel like they know you. And so you can extract more money from that relationship for them by, you know, pursuing other opportunities. And I think you're seeing that a lot with young athletes right now is how do I maximize my stardom? That's really good, Trish. I was thinking about something when you said
Starting point is 00:57:09 that, right? It's like the difference between creating a world or a creating a world or a creating a moment, right? So it's like when you got options, all you're going to be able to do is create a moment. When you're focused, like in that place where you don't have other options, you could create a world. And if you create a world,
Starting point is 00:57:30 you're going to always be paid, you're going to always be remembered. And that's kind of where I'd be speaking from. I think y'all, that was a great perspective, but I have a totally different perspective. My perspective is this, is that athletes, athletes
Starting point is 00:57:46 I used to call it for football players helmet syndrome you make all this money that ass you make all this money and nobody knows who you are think about this shit
Starting point is 00:57:57 I'm not huge I'm not talking about Clay Thompson niggas talking about yo I don't even know Clay Thompson I didn't even know Mc the Stallion what? Clay doesn't make about three 400 million niggas is like
Starting point is 00:58:08 yo you know the niggas is like you don't know niggas how you don't know niggas I'm not choosing Clay Thompson So niggas is doing other shit like, you got to- No, I'm going to get on Twitch. I don't make 300 million nigs talking about who am I when I get in front of the club.
Starting point is 00:58:23 Fuck his niggas talk about who am I. I used to be in the club in Miami and football players with have their shirt. They stand on speakers, have their shirt off. Mone fucking niggins, the DJ come out. Oh, he spent $25,000 a night. Oh, my God, that's so-and-so from the Indianapolis course. Then on the other speaker, he mad.
Starting point is 00:58:44 Look at Devin Jenkins from the Redskins. These two niggas, nobody know who these niggas is. So they got to spend all this money to get attention. And then you sitting there saying, oh, you like this rap, man. I got more money than them. Because the rap or the musicians, the girls be liking. Not saying that the girls don't like the athletes,
Starting point is 00:59:02 but if they don't know the athlete, the athlete who make way more than a rap or the musician or whatever, be feeling away like, sticking right here. I have a $130 million contract. All these, you know, give me $45,000 worth of alcohol and all the bitches over here. And I feel that people or athletes
Starting point is 00:59:21 are doing other things that makes it goes to your point by options. They're doing other things to say, I'm one of them niggas. And streaming is one of those things where you be like, you're going to get to know me. You ain't going to beg the stallion me and talking about shooting over the fuck I am in five, six years.
Starting point is 00:59:37 And I think that's where a lot of it comes from saying I want, like Lamar Odom, like Staddleman. this board. He's playing basketball with the Lakers with Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson's your coach,
Starting point is 00:59:48 etc. He told him I want to be that reality TV star. And the doc, this is what he says. Like, I wanted that Kardashian fame. Really? That's what you wanted,
Starting point is 01:00:00 nigger? So I think niggas is doing other things to make sure that they popularity pops because they don't want somebody like the Meg, the stallion in 2032,
Starting point is 01:00:12 We don't know who Jalen Brown is. Who the fuck is Jalen Brown? Just my opinion on trying to say relevant. Secondly, it can't be about no money, right? Because he makes a shit load of money, even though you make money streaming. I'll be watching the thing, that's a date now. The new day, yo, what you're doing in a night,
Starting point is 01:00:30 boot? Now I'm streaming, come through, back. Now you've been having a date, you chill in the crib, you're streaming, and then you're making money. You're gonna spend money no more. Now you're in the crib chilling with your homegirl and y'all streaming now niggas' son of your money.
Starting point is 01:00:42 I'm learning. I think we need I spend no money no more. You and your bitch make some money together in the crib? Just streaming. I peeped it. Seeing Blueface do it. Shout out to Blueface. All the time.
Starting point is 01:00:53 Definitely a million. Can I ask you a follow-up question? Yeah. You mentioned fame, and I think that's totally spot on that a lot of these athletes that aren't known, they want to be super-duper famous. There's like almost an obsession with celebrity. When, like, do you guys like being famous?
Starting point is 01:01:14 Like me? Yeah, you and me. Well, and him even treasured. Listen, I've been famous, and like I said, depends on where room you're in. I ran down, there's a video out my man put up the other day. Like 10 years ago, I got out of my car
Starting point is 01:01:28 and I chased Greg Popovich for a picture. He was in New York. My man, Now What, put it up. It's on his page. Greg Popovich didn't know who the fuck I was. Like, let's just another black nigga running up with me. Okay, here we go, man.
Starting point is 01:01:43 Yeah, I'll take the picture. It's all good. I don't give a fuck. I'm Greg Popovich fan, so it depends on who you're famous too. But I get what you're saying, Trish. I don't want to... The reason I said that is because
Starting point is 01:01:53 I don't want to sit there like I'm fucking worldwide famous like everybody knows me, but I get what you're saying. Because it's one thing, right? Let's say, for instance, the Greg Popovic situation. It's a moment for me. You asked Greg Popper about it. He's like, remember the nigga when you was on Fifth Avenue?
Starting point is 01:02:11 And a guy jumped out to car and took a picture with you? He's like, Like, wish of year, nigger. Like, that may have happened to him 9,000 times. Like, it's a moment for me, but it may not be a moment for him. Same thing was like, somebody had come up to me. I just agree now, Mace.
Starting point is 01:02:27 I don't know how you handle it. When somebody had come up to you and be like, yo, remember you was at the park that year? It was the summer. Word, that was crazy. And you shot the basketball and the sun was out. You had on an armor shirt. And you'd be like, nah.
Starting point is 01:02:41 You'd be like, nigger, it was raining. And it was sunny out. I'd just be like, oh yeah, yeah, I do remember because they're not going to, it was a moment for them. You know what I'm saying? That was their moment for me. It was like, I don't fucking know,
Starting point is 01:02:54 nigga, I'll sign an autograph, whatever. Answer your question, true. I just wanted to break down fame and moments. Do I like it? Yeah. Look, you can't turn it off. If you don't want to be famous, you can go get low.
Starting point is 01:03:08 Now, it's hard to be low when you, Michael Jackson, God bless the death famous, or Eminem famous, or people like, like that where it's crossover, like it's just almost nowhere you could go. But for me, I still could go to the mall without, you know, it's different levels of it. It was a time where they told me, I remember what they did at the Mace when Mace was first coming up, but then when I started getting popping, they told me, don't come to the mall
Starting point is 01:03:31 without calling first because you're exciting a riot and you go and you go to jail. Word them over. But Mesa, it happened to Mesa soon. Now I remember it happened to me. Like, you have to call first because people will go so crazy when you were not and you're running and you're chasing you through the mall and the cops is like, yo, we don't want to lock you up. I said, I came here to shop.
Starting point is 01:03:51 No more shopping without calling first. You call here and you let us know when you're getting ready to go shopping and then we'll escort you to go shopping. I'm like, God damn, I came, that's annoying. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. But it depends, like, think about this, right? It was the time I was running around with the Jamaican way because I just wanted to do regular shit.
Starting point is 01:04:12 You know, I was Livingston. But then when you go to a restaurant, they'd be like, don't worry about it, Mr. Giles, this is on me. I'm mad at that? It depends, you know what I'm like? Yeah, it comes with perks. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I don't know.
Starting point is 01:04:28 I'm a little bit all over the place with the question. And yes, I said no. But I'll take it over. No, if I had to pick one or the other, I'm going over here. So I don't know. You wouldn't rather just be super duper rich, like just like filthy? unlimited money, no fame.
Starting point is 01:04:44 You prefer to have celebrity. You didn't ask that. See the whole thing, not to cut you, I want your answer that, Mace. This is the Jalen Brown. This is why they're twitching though. Not saying they filthy billionaires and they got enough money.
Starting point is 01:04:59 This is why they're doing it. This is what I'm trying to tell you. They want to fame. Exactly. They don't need the money. They just worth the fame. But sorry, Mace, I didn't mean to cut you all good. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:05:09 She asks two different questions. Now, I like being. famous because I like the things I get to do. But if I could be like super, super, super rich without the fame, I probably would take that, you know, at this point in light, but I wasn't mad at growing up, you know?
Starting point is 01:05:27 I mean, being famous since about like 19 years old that and famous everywhere, that came with a lot of great opportunities, scholarships, degrees, like it's certain things. I wouldn't have if that wasn't the case. So sometimes it comes with a lot of things that you don't want to deal with,
Starting point is 01:05:49 but you know this is a part of that. This is just the B side of that situation. Right. And I'm going to walk out on that note because I'm glad you said it. Got your degree because you're famous. I don't want to hear my mouse after that. One of the degrees.
Starting point is 01:06:06 We still get the picture of it. I'm glad to get you. I heard him. He said he got it. I would have never said it before. I'm screaming, y'all. That is all the time that we have today. Trista, thanks for joining us because you, yeah, you never said that before.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Trish, Trish, one of them I did get because I was famous. That was one of them. One of them. Just one. Yeah, just one of them. I got two doctorates. We won't even know which one it is. We're still waiting for the pictures.
Starting point is 01:06:37 You won't tell us. But y'all, thank you all for watching. And as always, it is what it is. It's
