MMA Fighting - UFC Shanghai Post Show: Reaction to Song Yadong's epic knockout of Umar Nurmagomedov

Episode Date: August 29, 2026

The year of the upset keeps rolling on. On Saturday, Song Yadong added another to the long list of epic upsets in 2026 when he brutally knocked out Umar Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC Shanghai.... A 6-to-1 favorite heading into the fight, the loss is devastating for Nurmagomedov, but transformational for Song, who is now right near the top of the list when it comes to the next bantamweight title shot. Following Saturday’s Fight Night, MMA Fighting’s Jed Meshew and Alexander K. Lee react to Song’s epic upset win and what it means for both men moving forward. Additionally, Jed and AK discuss the post-fight collision between Song and Usman Nurmagomedov, chat about Denise Gomes’ big win over Yan Xiaonan in the co-main event, talk about the rest of the event, answer viewer questions, and more. The victory horns, that is.
Starting point is 00:01:27 And they sound not as many. Many people thought they would. No, they sound for one song. Yaddam, who has pulled off the major upset over Umar and the Magamadov, knocking him out brutally. in the second round. Not the only brutal knockout we had tonight,
Starting point is 00:01:47 quite frankly. We had several of them. We would get to all of that on the UFC Shanghai host show, but I am your host, Jedd Nishu, joined by my brother in arms. And I feel confident saying after tonight slash this morning to morning,
Starting point is 00:02:05 we are brothers now. If we were not brothers before, if we were just family, as the great Ben Diesel would say, We are brothers in arms, forged in the crucible of waking up at 3 a.m. To watch what ended up being a pretty good bike hard, in my opinion. The King of the North, my friend in yours, Alexander Cayley, AK, my brother, how are we doing this morning? Bro.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Cah, we're not doing, you don't want to do too fast, too furious. What's up, Cah? What's up, Cah? How are we doing this? I mean, we're wide awake right now. Why didn't? We could have, there was a very good chance that U.S. Shanghai could have ended on like a low energy note.
Starting point is 00:02:43 You know, we could have had a five round, like, you know, methodical Umar and Omega meta victory. And I would be like, okay, cool. Like good for Umar, three straight wins, getting that title shot, you know, back in that, right at the front of that short list for the title shot again. Instead, straight shot of adrenaline. Songya Dong, knocking him out. No controversy. Just straight on the, right on the side of the, the face, rattling Umar's skull.
Starting point is 00:03:10 more guards down and we have ourselves like a real contender in song you don like we always thought he could be jenn we always thought he could be and we spent a lot of the preview show talking about like you know he's good he's talented what has he not done he's never he's got good names on there you know henry se hoodo that's a great name to have on there we beat up marlon rod ice once upon time um but we said he's never really beaten a fellow contender in their prime well you scratch that off now uh this is one of the top contenders certainly in their Prime, someone who was pretty heavily favorite. I think he was maybe what, what was it, more three to one, four to one going into,
Starting point is 00:03:47 six to one, baby. Oh, way higher to one minus 600. Yeah. With the closing odds they showed on the broadcast and what I saw for most of this, not for most of this week, but most of the last couple of days. I mean, a huge, huge upset loss. There's in a year of upsets, AK. And, you know, normally we do questions and comments at the end,
Starting point is 00:04:09 But, I mean, from our friend Master's the Universe, it's been a year of upsets and it's been great. A.K., Jed, what are some of your favorites? Masters, we'll talk about that at the end, but I did just want to point that out. It has been a year of upsets, AK. We've gotten many of them. Justin Gage, I think, is my favorite and the biggest, you know, all thematically. With Sean Strickland over Hamzaa Chimaev, Year of the Unk, we've been getting some elder statesman upsets as well. But this one, this one is perhaps the one most.
Starting point is 00:04:39 surprising to me, AK, and I know not to everybody, some people were on the Songye Dong train. I have been a longtime Song youdong hater at this point. And I got to tell you, it's going to be a tough couple of days for me. I am willing to take my lumps. If you go out on the limb, you got to be ready when the limb cracks and falls. And it has fallen with me out on the ledge because Songya Dong looked sensational tonight, AK. I thought this was the best he'd ever looked.
Starting point is 00:05:09 in our preview show, I was like, look, I don't think he's going to get run over, but I don't think, I just didn't think he realistically was going to win this fight in any regard. I thought this would look like all of Umar's other fights lately, where it's like he clearly wins, but he doesn't do a ton of damage, it's positional control. And frankly, AK, after five minutes, I was, I was feeling really good about that call. I was like, oh, yeah, he got the first take down he shot. A song did get back up, but even when they got back up, Umar was competitive on the feet.
Starting point is 00:05:45 Honestly, like, I thought he won the exchanges at the end of round one. But I was like, oh, yeah, this is just going to be exactly what we thought. And then AK, it all changed. Everything shifted.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Because in the second round, Umar and Magamatov, looking a little bit more uncomfortable, they come, they collide, there is a head, I think it's a headbut. I don't know if we ever confirmed that,
Starting point is 00:06:08 but they said that on the broadcast, big gash opens up on the right eyelid of song yadong who seems not to care is just having the time of his life in there and shortly afterwards umar dips down to the left comes in kind of sort of a shot sort of like he wasn't all the way committed a little awkward but song yadong has him time perfectly with a you know shovel hook shovel uppercut right right to the sweet spot since Umar crashing to the canvas. A couple of unnecessary follow-up shots. He was already out cold, and there we have it. So, AK, I know I'm going to catch this in the teeth. I'm ready. You did not go out on the same level of an island I did, though we all picked him to win.
Starting point is 00:06:56 A.K., do we? I certainly do. But do all of us need to reconsider Song Yadong after this kind of performance? Because as you said, now he's beating the top guy. He'd never beaten the top five guy before. Now he's done it. How do you reevaluate Song Yadong after this win? Yeah, I mean, it's a complete re-evaluation.
Starting point is 00:07:18 And I'm not a song hater. I know you said you're going to take it on the chin for, I guess, criticisms of song in the past. I am an Umar Stan. Well, well known Umar Stan. I've been staying for a long time. He'd be the champion. I definitely picked him to beat Marab and I wasn't the only one.
Starting point is 00:07:33 And Chad, if you had a chance to glance at the comments, a lot of people ask me, am I taking back my umar fandom? Am I taking back my claim that he's the most well-rounded 130? I see you people. I see you guys in the comments. Yeah, I'll take it back. When you take a loss like that, he's still-
Starting point is 00:07:51 You can still argue he's the most well-rounded? I'm not going to. I wouldn't say it's a good argument. I feel comfortable backing down on this one right now for me. I feel like, yeah, I think, unless anyone can get caught. Obviously, he's still a very skilled fighter. I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater here and say, Umar is not a good fighter, but it's an extremely talented division.
Starting point is 00:08:10 So I'm sure a lot of guys in the comments right now could back out like three or four names. I mean, the champion Pierre Duryan, obviously. Marab, you could argue Marab is more well-rounded than him, right? I mean, Mr. Morab beat him. And you could say it wasn't skill for skill, but Marab showed a hell of a lot of skill in that. I still remember watching that fight. I think like, man, Marab's doing real on the feet. Mara's doing real with the wrestling, obviously.
Starting point is 00:08:29 And then, of course, you just outlasts him. So you want to put those two ahead of him? Yeah, probably. Probably you comfortably can. Again, as you were saying, Jed, I thought we'd see a workman like Umar and I got a performance and I could keep beating this drum that he's so well-rounded and da-da-da-da. But no, you guys, you got me. You got me. Not his best night, not his best night.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Can he still be a champion someday? Sure. The ceiling, I think, is a little bit. It may have to be lowered a little bit. But, Jed, you were asking about Song Yadong. Man, we always knew he had a talent, you know? Again, I haven't been as critical of him as you have. but I had definitely probably hit a point where I was like,
Starting point is 00:09:08 we know who song is. He's going to be a top 7, 8, 9 guy. I don't ever see him being a top 1, 2, 3, 4 guy. And he's one, he's literally going to be a top 5 guy when those rankings drop on Tuesday. I don't know whichever rankings you're looking at, the meta, the media rankings, topology, Sherdog, M-AFighting.com rankings.
Starting point is 00:09:29 I think we'll at least do a shake-up. I think we'll update our Bantamaintim rankings. I cannot imagine anyone's version of the, the rankings, not having him, like, lower than four. I just don't see how that's possible. Do I think now that he's a legitimate threat to win the title, you know, to challenge either Piotr-R-Yon and Rob DeWalsh, really? Why not?
Starting point is 00:09:48 Why not? This was not a fluke shot, Jed. You know, we'll break down the finish a little more in a second, I'm sure, but it was not a shot. They had some, they had some plan. I was genuinely that, like, that's the part I'm taking in the team for. Something was scouted, and he ex-they had a plan, which they've never, like, they never, have a and because like that's the thing okay like I stand by everything
Starting point is 00:10:08 I said before because all of the all of the evidence I feel was correct but it's not correct now like they team out of mail has never been like a really great game plan team and honestly in the very in the like I said the first round I was like oh
Starting point is 00:10:24 here it goes again because when he jumps on the guillotine you're like okay that's never going to work like I know that that's the Tam move or whatever but like the whole point like Abdulmanop used to talk about this. They like intentionally give the head outside single because they don't want to put the head inside single
Starting point is 00:10:43 where they can get need and get hit. And they just aren't afraid of the guillotine. And it's just like we've seen that over and over. I was like, oh my God, he's jumping for the guillotine. It's like they don't. Like, okay, what are we doing here? And then they did, but they did have a plan. That clearly was a scouted that Umar does dip down to the left
Starting point is 00:11:01 like pretty consistently. they had an immediate plan to take away Umar's kicking game which is like the strength of his striking really and like the very first kick Umar through song stepped in with the counter right he was gonna put hands on him as soon as Umar went on one leg and took him out of his striking game too like they clearly were scouted and prepared in a way that I have honestly just haven't seen for like literal years from Team Alpha male
Starting point is 00:11:28 so hand up like your eye favorite can dunk on me they've earned it absolutely they they got it here they had a whole plan and they executed it to perfection and now i'm sitting here being like this song you don't like he's obviously good but is he like can he win the title is that possible okay listen at the request of the great dave sending and we'll shout out dave right now once again uh 10 10 memberships gifted uh Dave does this all the time Dave is the freaking goat so thank you Dave he and he oh my goodness Dave, what are we doing? And he said, can we get a Yadong poll?
Starting point is 00:12:05 And I said, there's nothing more I love than Yadong polls, guys. So there it is. I put a poll. Dave the Go. Can Song Yadong win the UFC Bantamate title. Obviously, we're all on a little bit of a high. Got a lot of recency bias going on here. But 67% and quite a few votes have come in already.
Starting point is 00:12:19 So two thirds of the viewers right now are saying, why not? And again, how can you say he can't? He's only one. He's 28. He's in his prime. Probably still not quite the best version of him that we're going to see. I always said in the past he'd never like embarrassed himself against elite competition right he lost to shana malley he lost piotr yon kori sanhagen there's no shame in that you know the sanhagan fight showed a lot of toughness like i mean it's a great performance by sanhagan but that was a fight we're like you know he sliced he sliced uh song up a little bit he's song would have kept fighting if he was allowed to if the doctor would let him right um so you know i i i certainly wouldn't pick him like i think he'll be again if he fights maraub he'll be underdog if he fights peyote yon he'll be an underdog he fights whoever but man, when you knock a Normago Medov out cold,
Starting point is 00:13:04 and let's not make no mistake. Let's not act like this is like, Umar was exposed. Like, Umar is a very, very, very, very good fighter. So let's give all the credit to song. Because he beat, again, legitimately, whether you think he's, you know, the most well-rounded guy or not,
Starting point is 00:13:17 a top five, 135 are in the world. I don't think anyone's going to argue with that. And he knocked him out cold. So I guess, Jed, I guess I'm leaning towards yes in the poll as well. You can count my vote in the yes column. Why not? Why can't he become UFC champion?
Starting point is 00:13:31 I mean, Piotr Yan is kind of why he can't. But like, again, run it back. You know, Mara beat Yon the first time. Yon beat Mara. Maybe they run it back. You know, run song and Yon back. He's 28 years old.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Now, he does have a lot, like he's, he is a old 28 in terms of he's got a lot of fight years on him. But again, like my whole thing about him is that I just haven't seen much growth from him. And not two of his last three fights. He's shown me stuff. Like I thought he showed, he still doesn't ever show me a jab, which is something I'd really love to see. from him, but like, again, Sean O'Malley, I thought he, uh, showed like some improvement in adding some ideas.
Starting point is 00:14:09 And in this one, they had a game plan executed and like a game plan that maximized the, the skills he has. Um, you know, that, that deep half sort of sweep set up, uh, to get out from under the bottom. I thought was really like, great. And so just honestly, just like, I was wrong about song you don't on this one, all the way full tilt. And, uh, this is an incredibly impressive.
Starting point is 00:14:31 performance, but AK, you guys will do, we don't have to matchmaking because you guys do that. It's a great show. It's called on to the next one. It will either be tomorrow or Sunday, depending for you and Mike Heck. But we can talk about what comes next in general because the form of this fight going in was pretty clear. Umar and Magamatov was fighting for a title shot. Now, may or may not have been next. I think it was pretty obvious that if Umar won and if Marab won,
Starting point is 00:15:03 they were going to run that back for the belt sometime next year, probably on the timeline, but maybe by the end of this year. If Umar won and Peyodor Yan won, he's not getting the title fight, because Sean O'Malley's certainly getting, but he'll just wait for his title fight.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Umar's out. Umar ain't fighting for the belt. Song Yon called for a title shot. Is he going to get it? How does this, Bantamweight title picture shake out with Umar coming off this win and Sean O'Malley on his current you know coming off the the White House knockout what how does this play out who is fighting for the belt after Jan and Marab three goes down in what is it like seven weeks everybody weeks yeah
Starting point is 00:15:45 October October 24th uh well I'll tell you something no one's happened in the UFC right now because they now have two options and a lot of fighters have mentioned the past just in case you said it like the UFC is going to play the contenders against each other, right? I don't know if they need to do that as much now in the Paramount era. This might be a relic of an older age. But certainly to some degree, you know, fighters want to get paid more when they fight for a title. So I don't want to say this is going to default to like, oh, which fighter will take less money, Song or O'Malley. I think that's one factor.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Timing, of course, going to matter. Just who's available, you know, fighters get injuries, fighters need time, you know, get knocked around, need time to rest. Song didn't seem to take a ton of damage in this fight. O'Malley certainly didn't take a ton of damage. in his fight with Amen, but Sean has always been a little bit banged up. So if by some chance he's not available, then a song certainly steps in the picture. I still think O'Malley has to be the leading name. Certainly in the scenario you mentioned where Yon wins, I think that you can easily run that back.
Starting point is 00:16:44 O'Malley has a win over him, not in the Marab case. But I'm trying to figure out now who I'm picking at UFC 333. I'll say, I'm not going to say who wins. I'm sorry. I'm going to stick with the root of your question. Who gets the, who is going to fight for the title next after UFC 33? I still think, I still think it's O'Malley. So maybe I'm picking Yon. Maybe I'm saying Yon wins.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Maybe this is a scenario, I guess I'm seeing. Jan wins the trilogy belt and we get O'Malley because it's, I don't know. It's so weird. I'm just not ready to, I'm still reeling from this knockout win for song and saying he might be the number one contender at 135 pounds. That's crazy. I mean, completely insane to sort of change your stars that quickly. Oh.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Because if Marab wins, he probably is the number one contender. I don't think they'll do Sean Marab 3. And so he is now, in my opinion, becoming the biggest Marab de Valleish Philly fan in the world. Also, coming off this performance, this knockout, I've got to tell you, be very interested in watching him fight Marab de Valleish Philly. So, I mean, just what a sensational performance. What a needed performance to AK, not just for Song Yadong, for the fans, because the rest of this card was not all that kind to the Chinese fighters.
Starting point is 00:17:58 The song yong sent them out on a high note. As far as Umar and Mamgamatov, we're not to spend any time on it. He's going to have to go back to the drawing board. He's still young enough to put wins together and make a run. But it came my takeaway from the Umar side of things, which I sort of talked about a little bit in our preview show is he needed, he didn't need to get knocked out, certainly. No, that did not help things. That didn't help. But he was, he had officially hit the, no longer like, it's not a hurricane watch or whatever.
Starting point is 00:18:34 It's a hurricane warning of once his level up of competition raised, he stopped being a finisher. He stopped doing damage and finishing people in a way that was very concerning because you need dynamism in this sport in general. It is very hard to compete without it over and over again against the top. echelon of fighters and that was starting to really concern me and it feels like in this one that that at least partly was a was an issue for him because he did get song y dong down what didn't really do any damage tried to advance positionally lost position got back to the feet and got knocked out so he's going to have some soul searching to you a k a very important part of this uh conversation at least per the chat maybe not for everything is what came next what happened before
Starting point is 00:19:26 we transition to the rest of the card because AK, did you see the clip of what happened immediately after Song Jumped knocked out Umar and Margar Medov? We have many people asking about this yet. I'm seeing a lot of people. So I was like we're just going to put this right up to the top. And in fact, from our friend, uh, Natsir, uh, Knight Cirque one, I, I couldn't have possibly gotten that correct. And I apologize.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Uh, that is 20. I looked it up. That's Norwegian. I was about to say, is that a Norwegian croner? You were about to say that. And genuinely, it was like, I think that's Norway. I think that's in okay for Norway, Croner. Because at first I was like, what's the North Korean thing?
Starting point is 00:20:06 Because that's in and K. I'm like, it can't be right. That'd be crazy. Usman rushing the cage attacking song is crazy. So I do want to be clear. I don't think he attacks. No. If you look at the video, he rushes the cage.
Starting point is 00:20:18 He's like the first guy in. And while Song is doing the running around lap celebrating, the two, almost do sort of collide. And then there is a moment where it sure looks like he like pump checks a back elbow as song is right here.
Starting point is 00:20:38 It doesn't do it, doesn't hit him. It's definitely not a great look. I'm willing to write this one off a little bit as like, I don't know, if I just saw my brother get smoked and then also like eat five more shots after being all the way unconscious.
Starting point is 00:20:57 I might also jump in the cage to, to like go. And then again, he did like, had he elbowed him, huge problem. We'd be talking about it forever. Like that would be a bit, but he didn't actually hit him.
Starting point is 00:21:09 You know, they collided it happened. I don't think we need to clutch our pearls, but people are very interested in this, AK. What's your take on this situation? I mean, if he had actually thrown the elbow and like knocked song out,
Starting point is 00:21:21 it would have been like a top 10 moment in UFC history, right? I mean, It would have genuinely been the funniest. Like, I think currently the funniest post-fight thing that's ever happened in the sport is the Nashville brawl, just because Gus Johnson's saying these things has. Sometimes these things happen to me. It's like one of my favorite quotes of all time. But this would be better where, like, you would just need Gus Johnson because Fitsy wouldn't say that or whatever. But you would need Gus Johnson and be like, sometimes.
Starting point is 00:21:54 these things happen. I don't, okay, I'll, I'll, as always, I'll take sort of the more, the more, the more boring point of view on this. I do not think he was trying to elbow him. First I'll say, he probably did not need to rush in the cage. And, you know, it was a bit of a cluster F after, but like you said, he's emotional. It's literally his family. Umar has, we've never seen him, he's never been knocked up before in a flight.
Starting point is 00:22:18 So this was, yeah, it was probably very emotional. I do not think the action was deliberate elbow. So again, just to recap, people didn't see it, or people who have seen it are not quite sure what they saw. Yeah, Song is sort of running around the cage. Celebrating, he definitely bumps into Usman a little bit. And then on one side, like his left side, and then keeps running.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Song, I just got kind of bumps into him, kind of because he tries to get around him. And then Usman, it looks like you're right, like he's throwing an elbow. I think it's more of just like an involuntary flinch and like a get off me, bro. Obviously, he's a very skilled fighter, and I'm sure if he wanted to unleash a spinning elbow in the middle of nowhere, he could.
Starting point is 00:22:53 I don't think that's literally what it was. I think it's more of a get off me, shrug, partial elbow, not like a spinning, not like I'm going to elbow this guy in the skull and he pulled back. That's just my guess. That's just my guess. That's my taking it at the least aggressive interpretation possible. But I get it. I think a lot of people of reading it as like he was deliberately trying to throw an elbow.
Starting point is 00:23:14 I don't, that's not how I saw it. I'm with you because like he, if he was trying to attack song, Dong when he got in the cage, he would have gone after Song Yadong. Instead, he's clearly going after his brother. And then the way it's like song sort of ends up Kala, like he's doing a celebration. And they hit. And at that point, his emotions are running high. The judge of the dude.
Starting point is 00:23:35 You know, he doesn't, he should probably still get fine for like sprinting into the cage like that. Like that's probably against procedure. I agree. You know, whatever. Like, you shouldn't do that. But again, this is a had he done it, very different conversation. He didn't end up hitting him and he you know this was not the Habib I'm pointedly attacking no no no like he was in the cage and then they sort of collided So tough tough scenes there but I didn't notice that at all in real time. It only popped to me later on social
Starting point is 00:24:12 So just just wild times you know what else is wild AK? Every I mean basically every other outcome on this fight but the good co-main event. We're back. Women's, women's, women's MMA is back. Are you worried?
Starting point is 00:24:27 But are you worried, though, Jet? About what? Are you worried about your girl, Big Mac? Not.
Starting point is 00:24:32 I love Big Mac. Not in the slightest. I'd be very worried, sir. I'd be very worried. We got a hit her. We've got a hit her in 115, Jed.
Starting point is 00:24:41 We've got a hit her. Denizzi Gomes, uh, I mean, puts Janjaunod to the sword. I don't know what the, bonuses are, but just chalk the top
Starting point is 00:24:54 two off. Those are bonuses. But also, like, Yulia Blastry, 100% should get a bonus. We can talk about that later. Nisi Gomes, I mean smokes, Jan Jow Nan.
Starting point is 00:25:05 And we talked about this in the preview show, A.K., I wasn't sure how Jan would look, a long layoff, getting older. And she, you know, this was competitive until it super was not. Gomes clearly had an edge in power.
Starting point is 00:25:17 She was slinging that right hand. and it was getting reactions. And then right near the end of the opening frame, instead of slinging that right hand, it looks like she is, and then she turns it into an elbow, cracks the former strawweight title challenger, sits her down.
Starting point is 00:25:37 She's clearly not all home, but then didn't get enough credit for this. Gomes' follow-up shots were precise. She lands the left hand while, yeah, while Jean is falling, she cracks her and then gets one more in before it's done. Deniseie Goams. She's for real.
Starting point is 00:25:57 She is coming. And we're back. We've got hitters at Strawweight, AK. We are back. We're back. We got a hit. We got her. We got Fatima Klein coming up.
Starting point is 00:26:06 I mean, Gillian Roberts is definitely getting her the shot someday, right, Jed? So, you know, a lot unanswered questions from the McKenzie Dern fight. You know, I feel like she's one one win away from getting that rematch. Yeah, but now this is exciting to see. I wish she had called for the title fight I think this was the moment to do it I don't know who she thinks is like ahead of her
Starting point is 00:26:25 maybe Fatima other than that Jan Shaanan is a top five straw weight I don't know if she thinks she has to go through Tatiana or go through like Vyana or something that I frankly don't strictly care for that like I think Vyana and Tatiana
Starting point is 00:26:40 are probably going to fight each other so while that happens I mean Denisi if the timing lines up Again, we just, at Jean-Weilly, we don't know what's up with her. If she comes back, obviously title shots waiting for her whenever she comes. Outside of that, Denise is the one that made the statement, man. She's made the most recent and present statement. Fatima Klein has looked very good.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Her last fight, super fun to watch. She beat a ranked opponent. But Deniseie Gomez beat a much higher ranked opponent and in much more impressive fashion. So I feel like Denise has definitely jumped over Fatima. And other than that, maybe not above Tatiana and Vienna, but I'd like to see. I certainly don't think Björner is getting to get another shot at McKenzie anytime soon. Tatiana's kind of interesting. I'd still rather see Denisi, frankly.
Starting point is 00:27:20 So, yeah. Jed, Genesee did not get a bonus. I'm sorry. The bonuses are, okay. Well, you're right. The main event had to. I guess Yulah, like, how? Because you can't.
Starting point is 00:27:33 The main event and Co-Main have to. Yulia can't get one because they blew weight. Julia did not get one. So you give it to like, just do four. You give it to those two, Kai? No, no. Song you're on. Correct, obviously.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Obviously. Fight of the night. Fight of the night, I'm fine with. Liu, too, and Levi-R-R-R-Rodriguez, Jr. I'm okay with that. I loved that fight. It was so fun. It was super fun.
Starting point is 00:27:54 Yeah, fight of the night. I would rather Denisi Goams get a knockout bonus than they get fight of the night. I would just rather they'd given it. That knockout is much cooler than their fight was. I would rather they had given it to Denise Hegomes and not who they gave the other performance of the night bonus to. And I think this guy's a friggin' superstar, Bilal Hassan got the other one. That's the thing. I won that's a sick KU
Starting point is 00:28:18 It was great Kio DuSong Gomes Kiyasakur and Bala Husson Called a day I liked I liked I liked I liked Lou and Levi getting there Look that was a really fun fight
Starting point is 00:28:30 And shocker of all shockers The light heavyweight Was the most fun fight on the car True true You never would have guessed that It's been a while But uh Deneasy Goams does the dang thing
Starting point is 00:28:40 She deserves 100K She is young She deserves that money She deserves I don't know if she's I mean, I don't think she's jumped over Fatima Klein because I don't think either of them are in line. They're both won away,
Starting point is 00:28:53 and whoever fights first is probably going to get it. Yeah. Because we still theoretically have the Zhang Wei-Lee situation going on in this weight class, but I don't really know. We'll figure that out. AK, I mean, let's just keep moving down the list. We mention it. Kaya Sukura, 2-0 of Banimate and,
Starting point is 00:29:13 oh, man. I mean, Mashes Ritchie Lang. Looks really, really good at this weight class. We talked about in the preview show that this is the weight class for him. Feels like this is the weight class for him. He called for a big fight after. I immediately saw some people throwing out Adrian Yanyas. And I got to tell you, that scratched me right where I it, baby.
Starting point is 00:29:36 No, I'll spoil my onto the next one pick right now. I think he gets Umar. Two and five Canadians will hear the words you have cancer. Starting point is 00:30:49 I think he gets Umar. I think Umar, you got a, listen, I'm a huge Umar fan and now I got to be, I got to give some tough love. I see. I, let me, I'm not on on to the next one, but let me give you my out no pick for Umar. Go. I think he's after Peyton Talbot beats Figgie. I think Peyton Talbot gets Umar.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Wow. So we both, but we both think a guy like outside the top 10 is going to, so um, Well, once he beats Figgi, then won't he be like top 10? Probably like eight or nine. Or something in that range. Yeah, yeah. Because I think Figgie's like seven, eight or nine. Figgi will drop more likely.
Starting point is 00:31:23 But also I think, yeah, Peyton should be eight, nine, or ten somewhere in there. Yeah. And once he beats Figgie, then they're going to be like, all right, well, Umar can get cracked and we got to see if Peyton can wrestle. Yeah. Peyton can't, but he's got better at it. So, and that fight's just electric. So that's my pick.
Starting point is 00:31:38 And we need to know what we have with Umar now. I'm really not sure. And I'm a huge. You only have to know. He, as I meant to say before, as you're talking about, Umar's sort of false is like, it reminded me of like your criticisms of like Ian Machado Gary. And I'm not comparing them like stylistically. But like your biggest thing with Ian was like, you're not sure that he wants to hurt people.
Starting point is 00:31:54 You're not sure he has that drive to like find a finish at the elite level. And that hurts you in the cage. At some point you're right. You have to get people are so dangerous at this level that you can't just go in there thinking, well, worst case scenario, I'm going to just be able to win a five round decision. Like no, that's probably not under your control anymore because clearly you can get caught. You can get caught by anyone or in Ian's case just like it's just not good enough. Like you just need more. And I hope Umar is not in that like Ian Machado Gary lull. We're like,
Starting point is 00:32:23 oh, cool, top five guy, but not an actual threat because we know he can finish fights, but you're right. We haven't seen it lately against better guys. We're still a little disappointing. Yeah, I honestly, I think that we're probably done with Umar winning a belt. Oh. Oh, it's not Not impossible, but like all of the, he's 30, you know, and it doesn't seem like he's going to add the next level. And it is very hard. Some people can do it. It is, it has been done. But it is hard when you are fighting the best, like the very, very best time in and time out to never be able to finish them.
Starting point is 00:33:03 Like you, you just don't get it. It's the difference between free wins and not, basically. like sometimes if you're you know you need just free you need easy buckets you need layups and right now he is grinding mid-range jumpers every fight out it's like you're just not going to bat a thousand with that it's so hard to do so but we'll see uh we'll we'll see how they return moving down this line though a case we still got a ton to talk about before we can get to the peeps and we are 30 in we don't have to spend any time on uh basically the rest of this main card, but I do want to hit them and let you have an opportunity if something does jump out.
Starting point is 00:33:42 Sumiderji takes a decision over Alex Perez, one of the more forgettable fights, but not a bad fight, just Alex Perez did a lot of wrestling and holding. Sumadairji landed more shots, defended enough takedowns, gets the decision win. We have closure on that rivalry now, and nobody was kicked low, so that's terrific. Luce or Say-Lu? Luce. Luce. Luce. Luce. Luce defeats Luce defeats Luce defeats Lice Defeits Lever Hadriguez Jr. in Fight of the Night, as you mentioned. Super fun, Slugfest. Very quickly. Do you have any expectations for Luce coming off this?
Starting point is 00:34:21 He is now 4-1 in MMA, a K-1 kickboxer, had a guy who didn't even pretend to shoot, and they cracked it out, and he also got jawed a couple of times in it. Someone on Twitter said, oh, do we have Chinese Poetan? I'm like, I said, Chinese go Kansaki. How about that? Take that. That's fun. I mean, he didn't fight much in the UFC, but I think he's considerably younger than GoCon was when he came to the UFC.
Starting point is 00:34:44 But I mean, that's my... I don't recall, honestly. I'm pretty sure. I think so. I think so. Because it was a huge deal when GoCon came over, but I think it was like, how many fights are going to have? And I think he fought twice.
Starting point is 00:34:55 And he was like, two or three times. And he was like, I'm good. I got a taste. I'm good. I think... Let's get Luce and Zhang Ming Yang in the main event of UFC mechanics. their next one or whatever, just an all-China battle.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Do it. Two big dudes hucking them at each other. That was fun. Bilal Hassan knocks out Nielsen Rojas and gets a performance bonus. Pretty sick, K.O. He cuts some promos afterwards. Kid looks like the real deal as far as a prospect, right? Right, AK?
Starting point is 00:35:26 Boy, that is a star. 10 and 0, 25 years old. Contender series. Like, you know, we don't say, we complain a lot about the contender series. when it's used right. I'm sorry, this comment. Herb,
Starting point is 00:35:38 I got to say, this comment from Cosmo is very correct. As I was watching the fight, this is back to the Luce fight. Herb is sort of like, like after, after Hadriguez gets dropped the first time,
Starting point is 00:35:51 like there's this angle where Herb is could not be bothered. He's just like, cool. He is vibing. He's watching. He's not like staring in a space, but he is not like in the position
Starting point is 00:36:02 to intercede. And I'm like, this dude is about to get brutalized. And he just sort of keeps like, as if his hands were in his pocket spiritually. He's going like, whatever, whatever. And honestly, I think ultimately actually was a good call not to stop the fight because Rodriguez was doing just enough at like the very last possible moment to like show that he's still in it. But I don't think people would have been that upset if he had. And it might have saved Hadriguez from getting face.
Starting point is 00:36:34 planted. Yeah, yeah. Actually, I actually the Herb did a pretty good job in that fight, if I'm being honest. Sorry, back to Balo, though. I just want to say, like, what were we asking? Oh, yeah, I was saying. Real deal. Yeah, yeah. And I think he is the kind of guy who, yes, I think I'd prefer to be signed directly to the UFC, but when you're that young, I do, the contender series is the right move. And I think in his case, it worked out perfectly, like sub one-minute knockout, gets to dance, show up as Michael Jackson gimmick, and then is able to make a quick turnaround, right onto a UFC card.
Starting point is 00:37:04 So almost as good as getting signed directly, right, except, of course, he didn't have to, you know, prepare for one other fight. And then he just delivers beautifully. He has a distinct style, a distinct personality. He's a finisher at 125, which is, you know, I think a little more common these days, but still compared to other divisions,
Starting point is 00:37:20 I would say not the most common thing. This is a star, man. I mean, this guy, if they bring them along the right way and they give them the right matchups, we are talking, I think, one of, like, the legitimate, I don't know, It's always crazy to say like face the UFC.
Starting point is 00:37:34 We were talking about Patty Pimlet yesterday in face the UFC. I don't know if I go that far, but like someone who can like, you can feature prominently on cards and it will like benefit those cards in a meaningful way. I think this guy has that. I really, really see it. I'm not saying guarantee world champion, guaranteed contender. There's going to be some losses in there. Flyweight is extremely tough division.
Starting point is 00:37:54 It's not deep. So it's like by the time you're 2 and 0, you're probably getting matched up with like a top 20 opponent. And again, he's only 25 years old. So it might take a loss here or there, but I see so much potential on him from starwise. It doesn't mean he's a good fighter. He's distinct. He has that identity.
Starting point is 00:38:11 So that was really, really great to watch. And I like that, by the way, I like shout out to Rojas too. I think he's, I don't know, not saying it's huge star power, but I think he's like good bantamweight guy for, oh, sorry, bad way, excuse me, flyweight guy for a while. Yeah, you know, he's, below Hassan is out here trying to make a push. We'll see. But I think he's a very good fighter. I'm not 100% sure how the star power part will shake out.
Starting point is 00:38:31 But he's out here trying. And a fight card headlined by Yadong, this man is talking about wanting to be the best package in the UFC in his post-fight comments. So shout out. I just, I love that so much. It's terrific work from him. The prelims, aka, I'm just going to run down the results on the prelims and, you know, jump in when you got something to say, something that jumps out that needs to be spoken on. Andrei Lema submits Namsar with a guillotine choke in the third round after missing weight.
Starting point is 00:39:07 Ray Saruia submits Kevin Borjas with a rear naked choke in the first round after making weight. Sean Woodson takes a split decision win over Jack Jenkins in one of the funniest optics of a fight I've seen in some time. Francesco Nutsi defeat Zhao Long via first round TKO in 60 seconds. Hector Santiago knocks out Lawrence Liu In the second round At the 53 second mark of the second round Julio Pallastry knocks out Zhang Ying Yang with a brutal headkick
Starting point is 00:39:43 Second bout of the evening And the opener of this event At 3 a.m. You and me, buddy, in the trenches Taking Grenades As Cameron Nelson wins a decision over Ding Mang And I'll be honest, A.K., when that fight was happening, I thought this might be able to be able to, a long night. This might be a long morning in the office as I had just woken up and was watching
Starting point is 00:40:06 probably the worst fight on the card, I think. It wasn't an exciting fight, but I did sort of, I got a shout up Prince Edward Island, the first, the first fighter from P.E.I. Ever to step into the Octagon. So big shout out to Cam Nelson. I actually didn't know a lot about him. Do you have any newfis in the UFC? Yes, we had the Newfee bullet. Ryan James once upon time. Oh, yeah. I was like, I'm trying, okay. I interviewed him and I was like, are we okay with calling you the new fee bullet? Newfee's like a little bit of a slangy term up here. And it's not always like, you got to be the Newfy gangster.
Starting point is 00:40:38 Like there's a Welsh gangster. You ought to be the Newfy gangster. I think he didn't use the nickname when he actually got to the O.C. If I recall, anyway, but yes, to answer your question. Yeah, we had Ryan James representing Newfoundland. But yeah, Cam, I was just to say Cam Newton. Cam Nelson. Shout out, P.I. Getting P.I. on the board.
Starting point is 00:40:57 First fighter from there. first try to get a win in the UFC. And I picked him to win, actually. So like I said, I didn't know a lot about him. But Ding Meng, one of the most fraudulent records in the UFC right now. I tweeted about it. You guys can just go check out a topology page. He was fighting guys that were zero and zero when he was like 27 fights into his career.
Starting point is 00:41:18 And I'm like, this is probably not a very good fighter in reality. But yeah, I'm not going to comment to any of those fights specifically yet. But yeah, that 0 and 4 start for the China side was rough. Because I think they laid out the card really well. I think the assumption was like, you know, they're going to win it like at worst, like two and two. I know Zhang was an underdog, but I still thought she had a chance to be Pallostri. Zhao Long certainly should have beaten Nutsi. Like, so those are the two wins I would have thought.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Well, it didn't turn out that way. Did not turn out. John Long was basically getting set up to be. Oh, gosh. And so, yeah, O and four until Liu came around. It was O and four for the China side. So it all worked out. And people were comparing to Serbia.
Starting point is 00:41:59 I think the UFC Serbia card had a similar vibe where I think of a few Serbian fighters kind of fell short early on. And then, of course, we ended with that great. But each knockout, same thing there. No one's going to remember. It's all about how you go home. Really good show, man. I think the UFC is on a real run here.
Starting point is 00:42:14 And I don't want to like, I don't want to paint over like, you know, people who like kind of roll the rise, some of these matches. I understand from a stake standpoint, you look at some of these fight night cards. And you're like, ah, I don't care about this fight. I don't care for this fight. but I think we're on a run where if you're like a hardcore fan and you've tuned into like all this one, you've seen Sacramento,
Starting point is 00:42:31 some of these cards, you're having a pretty good time. You're having a pretty good time outside of like maybe two or three clunkers. Like I think, and credit to the match breakers and obviously big credit to the fighters because I mean, these guys are going in there and they're delivering. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:45 And on this one, I mean, one, I had a fun time. Three in the morning, it wasn't always easy, you know, this early for us and on short sleep.
Starting point is 00:42:55 but like in general had fun and we did have some squash matches I'm saying none of them were but a lot of the late like the most recent run from the UFC has been like we're getting on the finishes because these are bombs like these are these are unnecessary fights
Starting point is 00:43:11 and that wasn't the case today you know like most of these fights weren't enormous betting favorites there were a couple but then you get the upset in the main event and so it's not like not even all those cashed it is I had a good time in Shanghai that crowd was super lively.
Starting point is 00:43:28 After a while, at first, I think the Owen Force started. It took a while to wake up. The life out of that Owen Four star. Took them a while to wake up, but Julia Pallastry doing what you did early, got, perked me up. And then we were off to the races. One point of note, Andre Lima, hilariously called for a bonus after missing weight. And then also was like, I'm moving up to Bannon Wade.
Starting point is 00:43:52 I was like, buddy, I don't know what's going on here, but. This is great. Great content for us, Andre Lima has cannot have a normal like can't figure it out. Every, every, every Andre Lima like appearance has some sort of asterisk next to it. Like we're just like that we have to talk about what happened. It's always super weird. What happened with Andre Lima today?
Starting point is 00:44:09 So it's a strange guy. So, AK, that is the full rundown on UFC Shanghai. And you know what time it is? You know what time that means, AK? Let me pull up the banner. Because we're going to go to the peeps here. We've been going for 40 minutes. We will go.
Starting point is 00:44:25 however long we feel the need to go. As always, super chats get priority, but we will answer your questions, get them in, I will do my best to follow them, but it's lively. A lot of people who have, some people I assume,
Starting point is 00:44:38 were up with us at the wee hours of the morning. Many people might just be waking up to see the news right now in the east coast of, hey, Umarna Magamatta, I've gotten knocked out, but let's jump to these. See,
Starting point is 00:44:53 Pagliarini won, eight months, a member, thank you so much for your support. Realizing song is still in his 20s, blew my mind. And, I mean, that's right. Like, that's what we've been. So what you really, you mentioned earlier is just like, he's still 28.
Starting point is 00:45:09 He's still 28. There's a lot of room to grow, even though he's been in the sport at a high level for a long time. Oh, have you muted yourself? No, no, I almost closed this window. This is, this is the, that would have been a tough move. Yeah, this is the, been up since three in the morning working guys.
Starting point is 00:45:26 he's been in the UFC since 2017. Was he really 19? No, was he 19 when he joined? I believe he was not quite 20 when he made his debut. That's wild. Like we have really seen this guy grow up. And it was a little bit exhausting, watching the same or similar video packages over and over again. But if you were not familiar with Song Story, yeah, I think they painted a pretty good picture of how far this guy's come.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Like coming to America, coming to California, not speaking a lick of English, just seeing like, oh, hey, you're I in a favor. He's a great coach and a great fighter. I want to go work with him and his team and actually pulling that off. off and like a lot of ups and downs. There's a lot of parts during Song's journey to this fight where he could have just become nothing. But he's never lost two consecutive fights. He's always bounced back.
Starting point is 00:46:08 Yes, he's fallen short against, like we said, against league guys. We said this many times. But at some point, you have to have the confidence you're going to break through. And boy, did he. And like we said, only 28 years old. The best might still be to come. Sorry, I was trying to produce things as well. yeah man 28 again
Starting point is 00:46:28 now that he's showing like actual growth fight to fight in a way he hadn't for like the mid-20s or he was just basically the same dude it's it's interesting if this keeps up he's always had the tools he has always had the tools and he seems to be coming into his own in the way he hadn't before
Starting point is 00:46:47 certainly at least for this one so I'll see we will see and let me be clear If he wins the belt, I'm going to take credit because there's nothing fighters love more than haters and the haters than the doubters. And I inspired him to greatness is really what happened. Uriah Fabor was inspired to become a better coach by me personally.
Starting point is 00:47:13 So there's a little spin zone for you guys. Shout out to new member, Paul Verizer, JJ. Thanks, buddy. Thanks for joining the team. Thank you, Paul Verizer. From lopsided 684 dread it run from it. Yadong arrives all the same. Certainly seems so.
Starting point is 00:47:33 Certainly seems so. Unless you're Sean O'Malley and then you can tepidly jab him because he does not have a jab and win on the margins. From Aussie strike, five dollar Australian, apologize if I'm suffocating. Is it true Umar's brother elbowed the kung fu? I saw the bee pass him a tissue. It is not true that he elbowed the Kung Fu kid.
Starting point is 00:47:57 It does look like he maybe thought about it or reacted or try, but from every video I've seen, he did not make contact. We talked about it earlier in the show. So we don't need to like rehash it, but people keep asking because new people are joining all the time. You know, not great, but he didn't actually hit him. And he clearly wasn't actively trying to like jump the cage and fight Songye Dong. They collided and he reacted. acted. So he should get fined. I think he should definitely get fined, but we don't need to clutch our pearls over this in my humble opinion, AK. Yeah, I don't have anything more to say, but I just saw
Starting point is 00:48:33 Ace Buggy's comment. I don't know if that's coming up next. It made me laugh. It is actually up next. So good call. From Ace, $10, ace. Thank you, man. You are always on point. Does Umar now get dropped from the Habib team combined record? But seriously, surprised with how uncomfortable song had him. Being the better athlete won him that fight. Uh, the habebollah. The The Vib team record is the funniest thing to me. That is right funny. It's like a legitimately great gag because it's people, I think people have forgotten that they did that, that not the, they did this gag with the fighting nerds.
Starting point is 00:49:07 Like right when the fighting nerds were like at peak fighting nerds, they were like, yeah. And it was like, okay, but you've left a couple of people off. What about Bruna Brazil? Yeah. Yeah. Like, what's Brunna Brazil? And like, don't want to, don't the Olegsacechix train with you too? Like you're just not including people who make you look bad.
Starting point is 00:49:26 A boobu car is not on this graphic somewhere. I do, you know, the question is, is Umar no, he's still, I guess, de facto in the big four. Though his position could be tenuous with, uh, more guys on the, on the, you know, rise up. But, uh, he's clearly bottom of the big four power rankings. If he wasn't already, he definitely is now after this one. because Oussman's never been colded. Yeah. What was the last part of that?
Starting point is 00:49:54 Was it asking, just saying that athleticism, Song hadn't athleticism. Yeah, athleticism one. This is so funny. I don't think the athleticism really was the contributing factor here, which is a shocking thing because it's almost always the like deciding factor for song yodong.
Starting point is 00:50:09 But honestly, I kind of like, I think that they were pretty evenly comparable athletes in there. Yeah. I would say song is a little bit more explosive, but not by a huge margin. Well, this is so funny because I consider Umar to be like a really good athlete. And I was literally, as I was mentioning you in Slack, I was like, because we always
Starting point is 00:50:28 talk about how like Habib is, you know, what makes him like the best beyond his amazing skill set is like he was such an incredible athlete. And like we feel like that doesn't get talked about enough. And we always say like, you know, Islam might be as good as him. But one thing holding him back is he's not quite the athlete, Habib was, right? So I think I was asking you in the chat, is Um, is Um, is Um, is Um, is Um, more athletic than Islam? Literally 10 seconds later.
Starting point is 00:50:48 Literally in our style. that happened. And I was typing out, I was typing out like maybe. And then he just got God's like, oh, he's dead. And then I said, I said, oh, never mind, he's dead. You can't be athletic when you're dead. It's very tough to be athletic when you're dead. So that was very, I just reminded me of that.
Starting point is 00:51:06 That's question. Yeah, but like, again, I don't think it was the athleticism that was like, oh, he won because he was athletic. I think he won because they had it well scouted and they had a good game playing. And yes, he's athletic and powerful. But like, yeah, is what it is. He won because I made your eye favor mad, and that inspired them to greatness. It's all me.
Starting point is 00:51:28 You're welcome, world. And the mega meta fans go after Jed now. Yeah, Nirmie fans, you guys come at me. Everybody else who hates him, which seems like a lot of the chat right now, you're welcome. From Create like Mike, Phi, Dala, can you, oh, can a corner be fine for interfering with officials unsure if that was Usman pushing ref and holding on to Umar. Yes, they can. We have seen this happen in general.
Starting point is 00:51:56 I mean, this happened like a lot of times. You remember back at the brawl, the flight of the eagle brawl after Habib Connor, like half those dudes got fine and sussied or whatever. So I did not see, I haven't watched a lot of the post-flight clip. I saw the almost elbow thing, but we've been doing other stuff. so I haven't like, was a Pruder film the rest. If Uzman touched a ref for an official, like in a not just an incidental way, he will almost certainly get fine for that. And he should be fine for that.
Starting point is 00:52:30 He should be fine for basically all of it. You just don't need to hop the, if you can get fine for leaving the cage as a fighter, you should probably be able to get fine for jumping into the cage as a cornerman. Yeah. You know? And nothing crazy. I'm not calling for the guy like suspended or anything. like, oh, he's going to miss, you know, I'm just saying like, yeah, it takes, you know what,
Starting point is 00:52:52 Shanghai, I, Shanghai Sports Commission? I always feel like the U.S.C. would be its own commission on these, on these kind of cars. I feel like I couldn't do. I can't imagine that Shanghai doesn't have, like, I mean, Shanghai, no, because Shanghai has to have a commission anyway. They do a lot of fights, like in general in China. So, like, surely they have a, like an athletic commission that does this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:14 Anyway, it takes the money from them. There's a lot of questions about this, but I'm just looking at the comments now. Boy. Yeah. It's where it is. From Cosmo Kramer. Thanks, buddy.
Starting point is 00:53:26 $199. Dom slash Mike were okay, but get Bobby Knuckles more work. Did you watch any of the pre-slash post show thus far? Do you see Robert Whitaker on that show? No, I didn't see. Okay, I was wondering why is Bobby getting mentioned to this.
Starting point is 00:53:41 Okay. Robert Whitaker was on the, I assume he's also on the desk on the post show. but we've been doing this, so I have not watched. He was on the analyst desk, and, you know, when they talk about the stuff beforehand, I didn't all agree with everything he was saying, but if you've, I mean, Robert Whitaker is actually a very good communicator.
Starting point is 00:53:59 If you watch his YouTube videos, which I've seen many, like he knows how to speak. He knows, like he obviously knows Ball. He knows the game very well. He did, like, on the preview show, he was talking about how songs, guillotine might be, dangerous and that's where I was like no come on man it's not like don't don't say it don't pretend but he's he's pretty good at this um so I would like to see him to see him get more work certainly in
Starting point is 00:54:27 that what are your feelings on Keasa in the booth I think this is just second or third time in the booth I think this is his first time doing a live a live commentary on a car not like contender series he's done he's done okay and this no this the first time on UFC a fight night yeah yeah but I do believe this was his first time first fight night. But like I've heard him on contingencies and stuff before. What are your thoughts on how he performed? He was very good.
Starting point is 00:54:52 And I think it helps that he doesn't have a close existing relationship with Dominic Cruz as far as I know, as far as I know. I think Cruz is like sort of weird chumminess slash frenominess with like DC and Bisping leads to those really awkward on screen interactions that like because they know each other, I guess they're fine with it. But when you're on the outside looking in and also you're, you know, you're trying to watch a fight and get insight into that when they get to those weird diversions it's just distracting and maybe and maybe the more cases on maybe he'll get into those maybe he was sort of on his best
Starting point is 00:55:23 behavior tonight because it was his first time doing a flight night but i thought him and dom kept things mostly just like doing their job and doing really really good analysis because they're both great at it i've always i've criticized crews a lot as like as far as being an actual broadcaster but definitely his insights are awesome and fintzy brendan fitzgerald i think is so underrated as like a glue guy as a play-by-play glue guy. And I think, again, he's, he's not going to distract them with weird asides. He's not, he's going to kind of rein them in. And John Anick does a great job, but he's so chummy with Rogan. He's so chummy with D.C. You guys know when you watch, um, those, uh, you know, pay-per-view, a numbered event, it gets a little like, you know,
Starting point is 00:56:06 chuckly every now and then. And some people love that. Some people love watching a fight and then feeling like, oh, I'm sitting my buddy is Joe and John and D.C. And we're just enjoying the show. For me, it gets too distracting sometimes. And that's like, again, this is like a simply a taste thing. I'm not saying one is better than the other. But I thought today when it's just like a very, for a show like this, very straightforward, very focused broadcast, very like traditional broadcast.
Starting point is 00:56:27 I thought they nailed it. So really high marks. I don't know like a straight A, but like very strong B plus did not distract. And I felt I felt added to a lot of the fights. I'm a B plus here. I did right near just before. the main event, I had this moment. I was like, man, I'm not hating Cruz like I normally do, because I hate Dominic Cruz as a, as a, I think he's a significantly better analyst than a
Starting point is 00:56:51 commentator. I just really dislike his commentary almost every time. There are some, like some exceptions. I thought he was perfectly fine. He was, he definitely felt like he had, uh, receded into the, the background a little bit more than maybe he always does. And I think, I think, okay, you really sort of drive the point that is my big hang up when I'm listening to the commentary. I'm not super in, like, I have to want to be part of your friendship to want to listen to you be chums for like a thing. So if I like feel like, oh, you guys are really cool and I would love to have a beer with you, then that we're, I'm more interested in you being chummy. But like, I think, uh, Anik over time, he's just gotten to know these people a little more. I think he's no longer my favorite play-by-play guy.
Starting point is 00:57:44 He's still good. I would never say that he's not very good at his job. He obviously is. But he is not my favorite play-by-play guy. I almost always hate Cruz, but I thought he was honestly perfectly fine tonight. I didn't have a single issue with him. Keisa is the one where I would like to see him get more reps because he still feels like he's not comfortable yet. And that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:58:07 He hasn't done a lot of this. but he I always like new blood in the booth because that's just my long stance we should rotate them every couple of years
Starting point is 00:58:19 they have no shortage of fighters who talk just bring in new ones because it adds something different it's not the same rote feels like I'm playing UFC 6 where I get the same five sound bits over and over and over
Starting point is 00:58:30 again so I like Keisa I think again he's not quite comfortable but get him some more reps and I'm sure he'll continue to do fine. So I thought the booth is pretty good today. My one other note about Keza, this is kind of random, but I don't know if people remember when someone,
Starting point is 00:58:47 there used to be this really great UFC video game glitches compilation, and someone was commenting over them. And he was doing like a fake Joe Rogan voice. This is a deep cut. I'm sure a lot of people saw this video. So at times, Keza, his voice goes into this, that fake Joe Rogan sounding. Not because he's trying to sound like Rogan.
Starting point is 00:59:02 It's just like Rogan has like kind of a growl, like a high pitch like growl when he gets excited. And I think Keza had that similar as well. So when he did that, I was just hearing this fake Joe Rogan voice. And again, I'm not asking cases of change. It's just a normal thing. It's nothing wrong with it. I just thought it was funny.
Starting point is 00:59:16 Yeah. And it's, I think it'll get better. I don't think he's bad. It is just you get more reps. But like, you know, it just, it is where it is. I would, I would much rather have a booth of new blood than us run back the same like four dudes we've been doing forever. You know, like it's just that's always my opinion. and I think Fitsy is a very good play-by-play guy.
Starting point is 00:59:41 He keeps the train on the tracks in a way that I'm like, sometimes Anik now is too open to just like piling around and hanging out. And Fitsy is just like, we're going A to B to C, which I appreciate that directness. From Nick Nika 80, from your countryman, AK, $2. dollars. Habib's team attack song after the K-O, 2-P-O-S. I don't know about that. They absolutely did not do that.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Unless there's some other, if more video comes out, again, I think, had they attacked him, I suspect we would have gotten a lot of video and the commentators have been like, well, this is an ugly scene. They ran to the cage to check on their knocked out dude. They collided with him.
Starting point is 01:00:31 It happens. I do think Usman was a, upset, but he didn't hit him. You want to see what attacking somebody looks like? Go watch a beam after beating Connor McGregor. That is what attacking someone looks like. That was still crazy. Every time I see that, I'm like, oh, why?
Starting point is 01:00:47 That would happen. I see that footage. I'm like, oh, wow. A response from Aussie strike to Nick Nekina 80, I think this is supposed to say he just shoved him of, like he just shoved him off. He just showed him of bro. I think he just shoved him off, bro. Which I do, that does feel like it is the thing.
Starting point is 01:01:07 And I didn't, you know, maybe we'll see, but it doesn't feel like Songyong feels that they attacked him or anything. I also saw some people saying like, did they get in the way of like the officials and the doctor? Yeah, somebody said that. That's what people were saying. Yeah, I have to watch, but I am not in any. They should have been in the cage.
Starting point is 01:01:26 Yeah, yes. Usman, especially as quick as he was. Again, I'm also like, I don't know, that's a human reaction. If I saw my sibling. get blasted. I might be like, shit, I'm going to go see if they're alive. Because he got cooked. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:40 No, yeah, it wasn't, like, no one's here to say this is great, but it feels like we might be overselling how much anger we should have about this. Yeah, for sure. Those are super chats, but I've already got a couple pulled out that I want to, and we'll just keep going here.
Starting point is 01:03:25 From Chaz Berkey, Umar lost his last name tonight, AK, I famously took the name from Mario Batista until he earned it back. Do we have to call him Umar We're Magamatov now? No, he lost the Nirm. No, he's just Umar.
Starting point is 01:03:43 He's just Umar. This might be a good thing for him. Like this might be the start of a new life. He's just umar. He's just like Madonna, Cher. He's just Umar now. I'm okay with that. Look, I mean, they talked all about it.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Fitsy said several times like, this guy has the pressure of fighting with the Nagamadov name. Not anymore. No. No pressure. Free is a bird now. Fly free.
Starting point is 01:04:11 From Masters of the Universe, I pulled this up, but A.K., again, huge upset. Mine is 600 betting favorite for Umar. This is the year of the upsets. Belomir, I think the biggest upset in MMA history.
Starting point is 01:04:26 A couple of significant title fight upsets. What is your favorite upset of 2026 thus far? I mean, it's got to be gay, I mean, the Gates Getsi upset is just what unbelievable. Like that to me, he's not asking what the biggest upsets are. I'm just trying to think of my mind. Do I consider that to be?
Starting point is 01:04:45 Yeah. You know, what's your favorite upset? He's asking you, your favorite. That's both my favorite. And I also still consider that to be a bigger upset than what we saw today. I know Gaiji obviously is a much higher, like, ranking fighter. Gage is one of the greatest lightweights of all time. We wouldn't say that about Song and Dong.
Starting point is 01:05:02 But we've, I personally, and I know a lot of people really were not giving him a chance to win that to part of your fight. Like not in the slightest. I think as we got closer, we certainly started to embrace the like, oh, anything can happen. And what about this? What about this? You know, he can do this. He can do this and this. It became more realistic.
Starting point is 01:05:19 But I think that's almost every fight. So I don't even want to like, I don't think it's fair to say like, oh, but a lot of time fight night rolled around. It wasn't so surprising. No. And the way it unfolded, I mean, almost getting really almost getting finished in one point. People seem to forget that because he dominated so much of the fight that, like, Ilya had him in some serious trouble. Yeah, he,
Starting point is 01:05:35 Ilya probably actually could have won that fight if he didn't go to the ground with the gate to the second round. He just kept punching him as hard as he could. So that to me, and also look, Toporia was like the number one or number two at worst pound-for-pound fighter in the world heading into that.
Starting point is 01:05:49 So that to me is still the bigger upset, still the more just crazy, more emotional upset. But yeah, if people want to put this one up there, damn. A lot of people hate the Narmis and they are celebrating.
Starting point is 01:06:00 And they'll never get to see Habib get knocked out And they probably won't ever get to see Umar or Islam. So they are, they are celebrating the ones they can. Jet, he knocked him out cold. I mean, like,
Starting point is 01:06:11 flattened him. I just not, it's crazy. Yeah, no, my favorite's Gigi because that's one of, if not my favorite knockouts of all time, uh,
Starting point is 01:06:21 or upsets not a knockout really of all time. Uh, the stakes, everything, what Gachi means to me as a fighter. Like, the one downside to Gachy's thing is, is like so much of this year is already just decided for me.
Starting point is 01:06:37 It's like, well, upside of the year, that's done. Nobody can beat that. Fighter of the year. We don't have to have like, it's Justin Gaichi. I don't care what happens this year. It's Justin Gaichi. But that's like an all-time moment. So it was great.
Starting point is 01:06:51 For morning, Wombat, who are these people? Umar, Zubaira, Abu Bakar. Who are these names you're just saying? They've all lost their names. I mean, Zubara, it doesn't even, doesn't even share that name.
Starting point is 01:07:05 He still had to lose his name. I don't, I don't know who those people are. They're all, those people do not exist as far as, according to M.A. graphics. As far as Team Eagle is concerned,
Starting point is 01:07:15 they're not there. Nope. It's not. No, they've been replaced by Chonko. Chanko is still, Chonko was still, is newly added to the graphic and he won't be going.
Starting point is 01:07:24 Oh, yeah, Chonko, oh, Chonco's moving up the graphic. Yep. Quick. A.K. this is from also morning one bat i threw this in the slack i don't know if you had a chance to look at it have you seen racer's wake-up photo from the joshua van fight yeah if you guys haven't seen that
Starting point is 01:07:43 it is disgusting um granted he's like exacerbating it some but this is the first i saw it and was like that is gnarly that's not that wasn't good okay for ozy strike how'd you score the jack jenkins versus sean woodson fight i i hate to say it i i've we said this feel far on fight nights. We're not always watching fights closely because we're juggling like there's usually two or three other things. In the moment, I didn't have a problem with the scoring. I did see some people complaining. I just thought it was really close. I can't imagine robbery. I think robbery would be a bit strange. But again, I did not watch closely. I did not watch closely. So if you guys have like two rounds comfortably for Jenkins, I cannot make a reasonable argument I guess right now. But just from my
Starting point is 01:08:26 watching, I think, I almost like really expected a splitie going into the fight. And through two rounds, I still felt it was really close. So I don't know. I didn't have a problem with it. Tough luck for a Jack Jenkins again, facing a very, very difficult, like physical challenge and make it pretty good effort of it. I scored it for Woodson, but I,
Starting point is 01:08:47 that's a coin flip. You could score it either way. Wouldn't I, I thought Woodson did more, like significant, had his strikes were more significant, but you scored either way. I wouldn't have a single issue with it. from morning Wamba just sort of tie a bow on this semi
Starting point is 01:09:02 I don't think people hate Islam or Habib the same way they hate Usman and Umar I think that this is I disagree nobody hates Habib because in general I think everybody's just like Habib also just is the coolest of them like pretty obviously
Starting point is 01:09:18 he talked shit to fighters while beating the shit out of them like he's just a cool he's significantly cool than the rest of them and people have hated Islam forever. Like for very long time.
Starting point is 01:09:31 I've talked about this a lot. Like, and Ian Gary, they hated, like, people hate Ian Gary, they still hated Islam in that. Like, I, I think that they hate what that team represents a style of fighting that people don't like. Uh, I do think people hate Umar the most, but also he's probably earned that by losing fights and, you know, AK, we didn't mention this. We talked about this in the lead up, like the, the,
Starting point is 01:09:58 preview show was headlined is umor no macamatov looking past song yodong and it felt like he might have been and now now look what happens to you tough scenes man yeah i couldn't believe that that was even possible but he really did not feel fully focused and again you know you know what's bothering me is like we are getting away from how great song was tonight because so much the conversation i'm seeing i just went to go check some of our other posts on like about you know this graphic of songs went and so many of the comments are just talking about the Usman incident and the post-fight stuff. Guys, let us not lose, and Omar was exposed.
Starting point is 01:10:34 Let's not lose sight of song was absolutely fantastic tonight. I want that to be like something we leave this show. This should really be the takeaway. He was awesome. Yeah. Like development into a legitimate guy. Yes, he was great tonight. It isn't. Got a super chat. I'll get to that
Starting point is 01:10:49 in a moment, but just a couple of others because of the order of operations. From gin in a tree, Denise, he reminds me of young Androge pressure, power, accuracy, and IQ. I don't hate the comp, okay? I get it. Yeah, I get it.
Starting point is 01:11:03 I don't know if I've had a chance to see much of Denise's ground game. You know, we know Androge's got quite a bit of a ground game as well. But yeah, the aggression, the timing. What I've seen, she has less ground impound than Androge will bring. But she can get, like, she's just not the same sort of like raw horsepower. Yeah. But nobody is. Jessica and Dr.
Starting point is 01:11:22 Just going to find him weight and, like, doing very well. Like, she is a different specimen. than what Gomez is. But yeah. I don't hate the comp at all. No, good. Very flattering comparison.
Starting point is 01:11:35 From Ali, Ali Diak Ronaldo. I can't imagine. I think you got it. I think you got it. $99. $2. Thank you, Ali Diak,
Starting point is 01:11:47 Ronaldo. Will Umar recover? And how good is Usman actually? Two-part question than AK. First, will humor come back from this? Umar will recover. I,
Starting point is 01:11:56 30 is a little bit on the older. side as well as you were talking about the band of my division oh explain what you mean when you say recover because i agree that he will come back and win fights i do not think he fights for the belt again that's my new stance i still think he can't listen we were writing off song yadong like four fights ago saying this guy's never going to be a world title challenger now he knocks out umar right so song is younger song is a different kind of talent this is an apples to orange comparison but just in the broader sense of like you know writing off guys a little too early he's 20 and two guys Um, he's 20 and two.
Starting point is 01:12:29 Um, and again, I'm, I'm more inclined to give song credit for this win than I am to say this exposed anything major in Umar. Um, yeah, he got knocked out. Guess what? Great fighters got knocked out. Once upon time, Adriana Martinez. Very different point in his career than, um, a martin, excuse me, very different point in his career than where Um, um, um, um, um, I, I will, was someone is this talented. And as I keep saying this well-rounded and so good at everything. I feel there's, you know, tweaks, changes in these you made a little bit of luck.
Starting point is 01:12:57 I still think he will fight for the title again someday. But it is a long road. I mean, we are talking like three good wins. He's not in the, Omar is out of the conversation until probably 2028. And that sounds super messed up considering if he had won today, he'd be at the front of the conversation. But a loss like this to a guy who ranked,
Starting point is 01:13:17 in terms of esteem quite behind him, I'm saying three fights away, 2028. We're not talking about him fighting for the title in 2027. That's kind of crazy. there's almost no chance he's fight. We're talking about a title picture next for him. That's great. Second part of that question, A.K., was, how good is Ustman?
Starting point is 01:13:36 So there's just obviously been a lot of talk of Ustman coming to the UFC. He said he turned down a $2 million offer from the PFL per fight. Now he's got the, he's got elbow gate or whatever going on. Is Ustman next to fall? Will he also lose his last name? he might be just based on the opponent that they give him, right? If he ends up fighting like a friggin, like, Charles Oliverer or who are the other option, he's thrown out for him, even like a Patty Pimblet.
Starting point is 01:14:07 Like, I know people think he's like leagues above Patty. I think Patty's good. What are the names people have said? I think he'd be lost to like a Moikano that would be pretty disappointing, like a Benwantan that'd be disappointing. But these are good fighters, right? These are good fighters. But yeah, depending who gets matched up with, there's a very good chance that Usman, like,
Starting point is 01:14:25 enters the UFC and just catches an L in his first fight. Lightweight is insanely deep. And if they're talking all this talk and they wanted like genuinely get him a top five or six guy, a lot can go wrong, man. A lot can go wrong. And again, it doesn't mean that he's a bad bite or that he's overrated. It means like, you, you buy any of these guys top five or six, you can catch an L. Again, I didn't see this, but allegedly Habib wiped songs the cut over his eye and gave him a towel.
Starting point is 01:14:52 So, I mean, but really, was he doing that or was he just getting close to attack him? Because the team was attacking song after the win. Yeah, Habib, again, nobody, people, like, there was a small moment where exclusively Connor McGregor stands hated Habib because they knew that Habib would beat the piss out of Connor. And so they just hated him on principle. And there was like the core of Tony fans were like, like, I think, Tony would win, but everybody was just like, yeah, that dude's really cool because he's obviously
Starting point is 01:15:26 very cool. He absolutely has aura. Okay, also from Dalton, do you like this new trend of putting top five guys versus like deeper into the rankings? I'm into it. Yes, yes. No more sitting on your spots. The days of nesting on spots are mostly over.
Starting point is 01:15:45 There are certain fighters that, you know, because they have certain management ties, have a little more leverage. But for the most part, it's like. People are coming. Are you reading this comment? It was clear Habib was trying to put songs. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Song, I think, I realized the last second got out of there. But yeah, I've said it a lot.
Starting point is 01:16:01 I've loved the Paramount era matchmaking. I don't know if it's because of Paramount. I don't know if it's just a change with, you know, Sean Shelby and McMaynard. I don't know if it's someone, you know, someone else behind the scenes, we don't know. But yeah, it's cold-blooded, but we've seen a lot of squash matches. We've seen a lot of top five guys having to fight for their spots. We've seen a lot of older fighters potentially getting muscled out by like, hey, here's an an opponent 10 years younger than you.
Starting point is 01:16:21 We just saw that. Nisi Gomez, Jan Shaanan. Yeah, I'm into it. I'm sorry. Like, we want to see change. You want to see exciting matchouts. We don't like seeing people protected. That's what the UFC used to tout itself as, right?
Starting point is 01:16:31 Right, Jed? They were all like, we don't, you know, the best fight the best, right? And people, everyone gets their shot. And for a while, and still it happens. We've seen divisions, we're like, you know, this guy hasn't fought a, hasn't fought in like 14 months because they don't want to fight anyone outside their, you know, top five. We've seen that. And I think we've seen a little bit less recently. And I think it's great.
Starting point is 01:16:51 I love it. It's the best. Give people an opportunity because they might just surprise you. And then that's how division stay churning. They stay in motion. And the division in motion is much better than one that's stagnant. So a huge fan of it. Do a couple more than we'll get out of here. We're about to run up on an hour 15.
Starting point is 01:17:08 From Joshua Macklin, 4456. Thoughts on if they send Omar to the cold white north, AK, your homeland for a little Amin Zahabhi action. He's not matched up. ranked 135ers currently do have somebody set how would you feel about umar taking on your countrymen that makes a ton of sense josha macklin that seems like the one they're going to do yeah i will try to remember if i use that i'll not know i'll try to give you credit josh macklin so uh i'll try to shout you up that that makes a ton of sense right now again i would do talbot because i think that would be
Starting point is 01:17:42 cooler it feels like they're going to be like okay what if you fight a man next because amen probably can't actually hurt you so you'll win and we'll get you we'll build you back up you know a super chat did come in again from Ali Diak Rinaldo 999 Umar has no submission or knockout ability
Starting point is 01:18:04 I wouldn't say he is none harsh because we have seen it but we talked about on the post show it is not a coincidence to me that as his level of competition is raised his finishes have gone away. That seems that seems pointedly. Conversely like,
Starting point is 01:18:24 and one of the things I always point to when we're talking about this team is like the knock on Habib early was that he was not finishing people like that he was a decision merchant. And then when he started really making his run, he was beating the brakes off people. And it has been a bit of the inverse for Umar in a way that's very concerning if you are in Umar
Starting point is 01:18:47 and Magamatov fan, which there are none in our chat. There are no one recommendoff fans in our chat. I'm alone right now. You very, very alone. Auto UZ or U7Z, any of you guys going to watch the boxing today? Honestly, great main event, Herkovich versus Utama. I recommend it'll be higher level than Fury Joshua these days. I'm not 100% certain about the second part of that.
Starting point is 01:19:14 I think there is an argument for it because based on how Fury looked against Watch last time out, I don't know what he's got left and Joshua almost got jawed in his as well. But, A.K., you're going to watch the potential coronation of Atama as he takes on Herdrich? Man, I don't know. I need to recover mentally from this card,
Starting point is 01:19:37 both again having to wake up early. And frankly, the fact that a lot happened. Like, I'm still processing. This is fantastic. That was crazy. We still got work to do after this. We have a little bit of work to do, and I do think I'm going to spend some time with my family later today. So what?
Starting point is 01:19:49 I'm probably, I know. I know. I'm probably out for the boxing guys. Bob asked. Oh, God. Follow the coverage at N.maphrane.com. That's what I'll be doing, guys. That's what I'll be doing.
Starting point is 01:20:00 I will probably check it out. I may not check it out live. I may end up watching it after the fact because, I mean, it's about to kick off. I think it's start time is 11 because it's in London. So I think it's start time is very soon. I mean, the main event. won't be for hours. But once we wrap our work, I'm running on two hours of sleep, a dream, and several energy drinks right now. I will, like, it is not a question of if I will crash.
Starting point is 01:20:26 It is a, it is a question of when and how bad will the crash be. Well, Jed, Ali Diak Ronaldo 9099 is testing you. He is what he wants to keep this going as long as he can to see a grown man. I'm happy to keep as long as people. Look, people are in the chat. I'm happy to talk and hang out with people always when people are here to talk about things. And people are celebrating right now because ding dong the witch is dead. Ali Diac Rinaldo, two more dollars. I'm a fan, but he's a fan is over. His career is not over.
Starting point is 01:20:58 He's 20. I kind of think it is like it's not over. I think he's got a long road back to the title now. And at 30 and with the concerns I have about it. him, this feels like the one that derails, derails everything. When he's 30, 20, 7ing Peyton Talbot, we'll come back to this conversation, okay? Keep super chatting, Holly. Stop.
Starting point is 01:21:28 Michael Sparks. Before we get out of here, because this is that says, I kind of wanted to see Mara Bumar, too. Me too. I 100% wanted to see Mara Bumar. And here's the good thing. That may in fact be what comes next, because if Piora Yan beats me, Marad Valsvili in their trilogy. At that point, we're no longer
Starting point is 01:21:46 trying to position the pieces on the board to get this as a title fight. If Jan beats Marab, who right now is having a wonderful day, I'm sure he tweeted the I emoji out or posted the I emoji earlier. His shot and fraud is thriving right now.
Starting point is 01:22:05 But he loses his period of Jan. We're ready made. You run those two back and they can settle their differences the old-fashioned way. Next summer. So you may still get it. You may still get it. Next summer, the headline of UFC Tbilisi will be Mara Morrow Duolishvili versus
Starting point is 01:22:21 who Martin Omano, Rangamette of five-rounder. That would be sick. That would get, that would get, like the buildup would get nasty, though. There's some real tension. Like, there's some real stuff going on. I don't think there's any way that those two dudes fighting is not just going to end up being. It got nasty. last time they keep not being chill honestly maybe like because i my read on this and this is
Starting point is 01:22:49 full armchair psychology aka has always been that like umar just couldn't handle losing and so because like beforehand he was never he like it was never like a pointed attack at marab it was always like dude i just want to fight you let me fight you marab clearly was trying not to fight him Like he won the fight But we don't have to retcon Like Mara very clearly was trying not to fight Umar next He ends up winning the fight
Starting point is 01:23:16 And then after that is when Umar starts getting Much more personal As opposed to be like Dude I just want to fight you let's fight And I feel like that was a bit of an ego So maybe after getting slabbed His ego will take a bit of a hit And he will check himself
Starting point is 01:23:31 And it won't be as bad But I guess we will find out Jay we got another super chat Before we do that Let me touch upon Masters of the Universe Classic who's been asking he's put this in a few times how do you feel about the growth of what wMAA lately lately cites fatima cline uh carly judez are you familiar with carly judez judez jett um i hear i hear good things you'd be a thin uh Tina black Melissa mya from uh this season the ultimate fighter
Starting point is 01:23:53 so i'm really glad he qualified this because i was like who are Tina i don't know who is black and Melissa of course you did from the ultimate fighter 34 Chanel dire who won last week uh comparison six months ago uh i'll say i'm very glad people are suddenly talking about WMA in a really positive light now. I've always kind of defended it. I've always said the, the, the, the gulie, gulch, it was bad. Gulch is bad, right? Yes.
Starting point is 01:24:16 Well, I mean, it's not bad. It just is down. Okay. I've always said the gulch is not a geographical feature. Yes, it's not as good or bad. I've always said it's not as deep as I feel like people have positioned. It's certainly there's obviously there's a stretch where it was not amazingly strong. Like I'll say that.
Starting point is 01:24:31 But it wasn't the only division. And I do feel like there's an element of like bias against it. But focusing on the positive, yes, I think. think there is more recent to have like interest in some of these divisions now. So yeah, it's really exciting to see. And so, yes, I think Cosmo Kramer was mentioning earlier like, well, we had two finishes this week. We had two finishes last week.
Starting point is 01:24:51 And there's women's fights like exciting finishes. And yeah, it has been a while since we've been able to say that. So I just think there have also been fights that like didn't end in finishes that were also good. Fatima Klein's not a big finisher. And we're one of her like, she's one of like most tightly touted like prospects. And she's an exciting fighter. So I don't think finishes equate to like, oh, a division.
Starting point is 01:25:07 is necessarily getting better, but I understand the sentiment. And yeah, if people are more, you know, supporting women's out of me again, I'm all for it. I think it's been okay. It's definitely doing better. It's definitely doing better. I think it's 100% doing better. And it's, uh, I mean, broadly like people like finishes. So the more you can get them.
Starting point is 01:25:24 Mostly, to me, it's not about finishes. That is an added bonus. It is about their finally young talent. Like, Desey goes to 26. When was the last time we had 20, like a 20 year old fighter who's good in any women's weight class? It's like you get like Wang Tong coming in and we're like, this is it. Somebody, it's like she's 32.
Starting point is 01:25:43 I know like she she fought Val in kickboxing. She's old. But this isn't a person to be excited about the future. Now we've, we've finally got a crop of young talent coming and here. And, you know, they were here like a year ago where we could see, okay, Tyner, Judea, Judee, Klein, Gomes, like these people are there on, they're on their guys. there are people to watch now they are ascending now they are here they are in the ranking they are moving up and that is much much more exciting our last super chat for morning wombat five dollars thank
Starting point is 01:26:17 you morning wombat when umar hit his broken hand from habib because he knew habib would tell him to die in the ring that's when i knew he didn't have it all right that's good uh i mean that's good look i'm not sure I agree with you. But I'm, you're, you're driving at something that I think is true. I'm not sure I'm willing to, to go, like, you're, you're way down this path. You're way down that road. And I'm not sure I'm willing to make the turn and drive all the way down the road. But I can look at this fork of the road and be like, I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 01:27:00 I get the point here because, yeah, I mean, Habib's a crazy person. And I'm not sure that anyone else in that team is also a crazy person. They're just various levels of really good at fighting. I'll close out here. The poll is done. Over 450 votes. Wow. Almost 70%.
Starting point is 01:27:23 Can Song Yudong win the UFC Bansomian title? Yes. 70% yes after tonight. So I'll tell you, Jed. I'll tell you the opinions can change just like that. So I stop hope for Umar and why I have a lot of hope now. or song you don't i got to tell you i i'm wildly impressed by songy dong in the way i never have been uh i will eat my humble pie i will eat my crow uh party on songy dong backers because i
