Hi guys, welcome back to a lot on your plate podcast with me, Jessica.
And me, Zoe.
Zoe's in a funny mood today, guys.
I'm going to be giddy moods.
I've had to giggles a few times over sweet fuck all.
She's hard to get a tissue to wipe those cheery eyes.
My eyes are having terrible times at the moment between crying, like laughing, crying.
No, crying laughing and hay fever.
I know.
We're all fucked as we say.
Honestly, we've had some weak.
we've had some week.
Yeah.
We've been busy.
And we hope you all enjoyed last week's episode.
I think they all did.
But our guest, Jamie.
We've been having some wonderful feedback.
It was a joy to have her in.
She's a gorgeous human being.
So if you want to catch up on that episode, please this is the last week.
And you will also find it on YouTube.
And if you are on number one,
then you'll know that she gave us a second 30 minute episode over on Side Dish
where we asked lots of different questions.
So please join us over on there
and we shared a nice little competition
with niche browco that you can win
a treatment, brow serum,
lash serum.
So check that out.
All you need to do is comment a little emoji
and we give away something free every single month.
So generous of us.
Half the time out of our own back pockets.
I'd like to win this month.
I would like to win.
Yeah.
The eyebrow appointment.
We were just saying before the pod started
that we want to go and see
the Odyssey in the cinema.
Heard nothing but amazing.
and things.
Same.
And then Spider-Man.
That's a big week for they two.
But it's been a big month for them actually.
Tom Holland and Zendare and both of those films.
Are they really?
And they got married recently.
Didn't know that.
They get married or they were in the films or both?
Both.
Yeah, they got married.
I knew they were together.
What was the film that they met in?
I don't know.
In fact, was it not a past Spider-Man?
I was going to say was it Spider-Man, probably.
I'm not sure
But anyway
I'd like to see The Odyssey
I heard it's amazing
and meant to be great
at the IMAX
Yeah
I don't know if I've ever been
at the IMAx
I went to see
Oppenheimer there
and the only seat
that was available
was the very front row
And honestly I thought
I was about to
Have an attack
It was just a very
weird experience
I wouldn't want to go again
You're about too close
I'm not that
bothered about stuff like that
Like I'm not
a pure movie geek
where I need to feel like the seats rumble
and the sound and the screen.
I can absolutely appreciate that's why people like it
but I don't need to go to an IMAX to see a film.
I agree with you in that one.
Do you?
Yeah.
I'm fine, just going to the showcase.
Yeah.
Getting a wee of the showcase.
And when's Toy Story going to be on Disney Plus guys?
I'm sick of waiting.
I mean, I've been to see it at the cinema but I love it so.
You want to watch it again?
And again and again and again.
Yeah, fine
What's on today's episode, Jessica?
We've got a bit of a catch-up
We've not actually had a catch-up
On the pod for a couple weeks
We're going to do that
We've got some feedback from you guys
On things that we've discussed
We've got a great couple of emails
I'm sick to freaking death
Of us saying the wrong email
Every single time I said it wrong again
In the Jamie episode
Did you?
Yes, but if you go into our Instagram right
Press
You know where you can see
all the highlights and stuff.
It literally says contact.
It goes straight to your email app.
And it is contact at a lot on your plate podcast.com.
Right.
Okay.
It wasn't the dots.
It was before that.
Yeah, we keep saying a lot on your plate.com.
Or a lot on your plate pod.
It's a lot on your plate podcast.
Dot com.
You honestly kind of get the staff these days.
Sick of ourselves.
Honestly.
Cannot get the staff.
Kind of got the staff.
We've just had a Wi-Fi breaking, technical issues.
There's a lot of things that go on behind the scenes
with this production that you see in front of your eyeballs
and it's just been difficult.
But, you're on the wiser.
And that's the beauty of it.
And that's just there.
Right, shall I catch you up first?
Go on then, hon I can't fucking wait.
Let me get my list out.
Right.
We've sacked off the cue cards this week.
We have.
There's only actually one thing
I really want to talk about
but I'll talk about it in depth.
Wow.
The contrasting from last week to this week.
Zoe, I was howling, listen back to the app.
Even Jamie replied to my story like,
Huh?
What?
Which, you know what?
I don't blame her because I thought they say myself.
So last week, if you noticed,
I said, I don't run, not a runner and I don't intend to run.
Well, I then booked a 10K and done it on Sunday.
Banged it out, didn't stop.
banged it out, didn't stop
10K around Shackleye Park
You had some fans there
Had some fans
Yeah they were
They message say they seen you
I'm not actually seen that
Yeah they did
Mortified now
So basically how this came about
Was on my 30 before 30
As you know
Was run a 10K no stopping
Specifically
And I'd booked one a couple of months ago
It didn't go because I hadn't trained
And then I thought
I'm not going to be able to do it
And then last week when I was at my
mom's for dinner, my brother Adam and these
girlfriends were there and she was in the
Shackley Park one so I had a wee nosy
and it's the only one I could do as
an actual race
before I'm 30 because the other ones are on weekends
I'm not here and they were like
just do it, just do it, you can do it, there's no pressure
you don't need to do it in a time, you can stop if you want
just change it to taking part and a 10k
and I thought you're right
I'm bigging this up, I can do it
and that's exactly what I done. No training
I hadn't run a 5K since
I'm going to say
It was May.
Wow.
Remember I had a sore ankle for a few of days after I ran.
That was the last time I ran.
At all.
So, tell us how you felt through, let's talk about the first 5K.
Actually, let's talk about what you ate the night before to fuel this run.
I went to Errol's Pizza.
Yep.
I had in my head.
Also, something to note here is, I text her friends Shav and Haley.
After I'd booked it and I said, what are you doing on Sunday?
and they said, I think before they replied that,
she said, I'll tell you why,
because I've just booked to do a 10K,
and they were like, well, we're running a 10K then.
So they ran with me.
Love that energy, love it.
And Haley was like, I'll keep you going,
I'll sort out, like a bit of a pace for us to stick to
so that we don't need to stop and blah, blah, blah.
Because what I realised is that I sprint,
as soon as I start, I sprint,
and then I'm utterly booked for the rest of the month.
And it's hard, isn't it?
Because people do tell you to slow down.
And it's like, but you feel like that's a bit of,
of failure if you're slow, but actually that helps you have more of the tank.
Yeah, exactly. And you're thinking to yourself, I could go faster than this, but it's not
about being faster in the moment. It's about having the energy to continue. Yeah.
So they did it with me. But the night before, went to Errol's pizza and I think I just had
some snacks that night, but what I did do was I bought bagels and bananas for the morning of.
Haley said, I have a bagel and banana. I thought I'll do the exact same thing. Because I would
have shown up to that eating nothing.
Yeah, that's not good.
Well, the 10 o'clock,
I would have been like,
just eat after it.
So I had a bagel and banana,
which when I was lifting it to my mouth,
I could hardly get it in my mouth
because I was shaking like a leaf.
Because I was nervous.
Oh, right.
I was feeling the pressure.
That's a shame.
From myself.
So anyway, had that,
turned up, we did some stretching and warm-ups.
And that helped, right?
Which, again, I wouldn't do if I was on my own.
So anyway, we get going,
and I remember thinking
I said
at one point
what are we at
because you had to run up
and do a turn
and then you ran
and you also didn't have any music either
did you?
I didn't even have my phone on me
no earphones no phone
no nothing
it was just
they had their watches
the rhythm of your breath
which by the way
I didn't notice
but maybe because
I was
running at a better pace
yes
rather than being absolutely
out of breath
at one minute
so
I remember saying
what care we are and it was like 1.5
and I know you're only
a 10th of the way basically but I was pleasantly
surprised that we were at that already
and I felt like totally fine
like not really breathless not sore
happy to keep going. Were you chatting?
We were chatting about you yeah
whereas when I tell you that when I was running
or trying to run 5Ks on my own at 1K
I could have stopped went home. Yeah
like was fucked by that point
so I would say the first 5K
I actually felt good
and was like
like I'm very shocked to have I feel here.
I'm not going to say enjoying,
but wasn't wanting to get ran over by bus.
Which I did feel like that on the way there.
Yeah.
And then I would say it got really hard,
like really hard to dig in
and really mentally speak to myself in my brain
at 7.5.
And I guess from 5K onwards,
every step was the furthest you'd ever ran.
Exactly that.
Because I think I asked for distance
and it was like 5.5 or maybe.
maybe about 6K.
And I was like, oh, that's the forest I ever ran.
And there's a big hill in Stratclay Park.
And this, and this, and this.
The hill was a challenge.
Yeah, well, I was driving to Strathcly Park.
As we ran down it.
As you were running down it.
So I was going past everybody and I thought, holy shit.
I would have never have noticed that hill because it's alongside Strathclay Park.
Yes, you come out to the road.
Yeah.
Not into the park.
And there's not a hill in Strathcly Park.
No.
Well, not incline like that.
So going up.
up that I would say it was like borderline walk I guess but not stopping like we didn't stop
and that's what I was most proud of because from 7.5k to 10 I was like hands on the hips putting my
head in the like right back like I can't do this anymore oh wow I just kept sitting myself there's no
fucking point stopping no imagine your legs are still going and you're so close and the last
you were sprinting that last bit the last 500 meters was hell on earth
because you're pushing that bit more.
But I only sprinted, I'm going to say,
for not even 100 metres.
Shiff was fucked as well.
But they hadn't,
Shiv and Haley have both done a marathon
which was in March, March or April,
and they've not ran since that.
But I couldn't have done it without them,
like genuinely couldn't have done it
because I would have stopped.
Yeah.
And I wouldn't have paced myself the same.
I wouldn't have known how to,
like, do all that.
I also wouldn't have been maybe like half distracted
by speaking to them.
Exactly.
And even in the last,
yeah, the last couple of Kayeley
was like you're literally nearly there like why would you stop now?
So I kept like repeating that at my head
and I was also saying to myself
your legs are actually fine
apart from my ankles were really sore
because I do get sore ankles and I'm really sore now
can hardly walk on them but done it guys
It's an incredible achievement Zoe
you should be so proud of yourself
I don't think you understand how like how hard that is
it's fucking hard but what I will say is
and this is why if anyone follows me on Instagram
I was being an overachiever on Sunday
which fine you can do it once in a lifetime
and I did put up a story saying
that I actually did no training
I ran two 5Ks in my whole entire existence
of being alive
one when we did a park run that one time
and the one that I did a few months ago
and I actually think for someone like me
who hates running but just wants to achieve it
it's better because see if I had ran on
on say Thursday night to try and gear myself up for it
it would have put the fear of death into me
yeah like I would have been like there's no fucking chance
I can do that whereas when you're just in the moment
and you've got someone helping pushing you
and you can. And you warmed up properly as well.
Warmed up, fuelled my body
made sure I was hydrated. It wasn't being stupid.
Yeah. And you do keep fit. It's not like
you're someone that's never exercise. It's just a different
form of exercise. I know. But I think that's
why when I've tried to do it on my own, I felt so frustrated
because I'm like... I work out.
I know I'm not unfit.
But it was just my pace and everything. I'm always going too fast.
But that just goes to show you like, for example, when I took
Richard to Pilates, Matt Pilates a few weeks ago.
The guy is an ex-professional
athlete and a CrossFit coach and personal trainer, right?
The guy does high intensity fitness.
You bring him into a hot room of doing Matt Pilates
holding on one KG dumbbell and he was, guys, he was absolutely flawed.
I guess people do snub Pilates.
Well, they do.
But it is a different level of fitness.
So no matter what you're in, it's all relative to you.
Absolutely.
And I hate being out of breath.
Yeah.
I hate being out of breath.
But yeah, that's my encouragement to anyone.
who's thinking of it. A few people did reply to my story
saying they've got one booked
in August and October, like a couple
different people and they were like, I've done no training
and I was like, well, you've got time to maybe do
a few wee bits more than I did, but
just do it, just go and enjoy it and do it. And you did it in
sub 1-10 as well. Sub-1-10.
That's so brilliant, Zoe.
I didn't actually have a time goal, but Haley was just like, let's pace it
to that. But it was
one hour, nine minutes, 29 seconds
and I'm so glad it was
because I imagine it was just a wee bit over.
Oh, I know, you'd have been fuming.
Nice achievement.
I've got a medal and everything.
On you go ahead.
So that was my achievement
and I ticked it off as soon as I sat down.
I bet you believe he did.
Yeah.
Went boop.
Achieved.
Somebody messaged to say,
have you logged your 30 before 30?
You should have done that, Zoe.
I know.
Or you've definitely got little video clips
of each thing you've done though.
I've probably got a lot of stuff, yeah.
I think you could do a nice little roundup reel
or a nice carousel on your Instagram
I'm just for mems, you know?
I think you should do something like that.
I probably do have a few of things.
I'll have a look at that.
Do it, Zoe.
But yeah, the other thing that I've been having a look at
and it's not coming to me easily is like a cooking class.
Yeah.
Anyone recommend something?
Somebody did comment on our Patreon cooking class.
Did they?
Yeah, I'll send it you to show you.
I'm actually looking at Marrakesh next week with my mum to do the balloon,
hot air balloon thing.
Yeah.
and I did see a TikTok of a cooking class over there
and it's in like a family's farm.
Oh, that would be perfect, Zoe.
And I thought that would be so cute
but it would just obviously take away
like a bit of a chunk of the trip
but does that really matter?
Have you been to Marrakesh before?
No.
No, have you not?
You're only going for three nights?
Yeah.
But then a lot of it's just going around the markets and stuff
and it's like it's kind of all similar, you know?
So I might potentially do that.
I think that sounds lovely.
Because that's quite a nice experience, isn't it?
I think my mum would enjoy that too.
What sort of food?
We're rocking, I'm going to get swimming.
Nice.
I think you should do that.
We'll be ticking off the hot air balloon next week and potentially that.
I'm excited to go in a hot air balloon.
Would you do that?
Someone's got to be.
Nah.
I'm not that arse about that.
I go on a plane.
No, it looks cool.
What about when you calm down though?
It needs to bang off the ground.
Are you going to do a skydive or is this for place to?
skydive.
No, this is as well as, but the skydive's just going to be booked before I'm 30.
And where are we thinking of doing that?
Anywhere I can get a booking.
I'm actually going to message a couple of companies and just say if you've got any cancellations,
like, is there a list?
Yeah.
And try and get it done ASAP.
Although I'll be absolutely shiting myself doing that.
That would be the best high in the entire world.
I also don't like flying.
That would be the worst part for me.
I think once in a month, I'll really get me out.
It's more for me.
It's more trusting that the man pulls your thing.
whoever you're attached to.
But surely you know where that is as well
just in case something happened to them.
Imagine if they actually like collapsed mid-air?
Yeah, no fainted.
Or you?
Or both of you?
I just think if it's your time, it's your time.
I feel quite strongly about that.
Yeah, you do, don't you?
It's not going to be enjoyable way to die,
but you have died in a high.
Well, but are you dying on a high?
Absolutely.
I think so.
Still need to make my lasagna.
Oh, Zoe, come on.
That'll be a last minute thing.
I'll do that probably the night before I'm 30.
Fine.
Nice.
I like that.
Lazzania for breakfast and your birthday's birthday, not a problem.
Not a problem.
Not a problem.
Anyway, 10K achieved, encourage anyone to do it.
Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.
We also went on the radio.
We did, STV radio.
You were on STV radio, that was enjoyable.
I actually don't know if you can listen to that on like playback.
Yeah, someone asks us if they can.
Not sure, but I'm sure you could.
I also took Cookie to the beach for the first time.
Yes, which one did you go to?
True.
Good old Trune.
Good old Trune.
We were going to go somewhere else
and thought,
you know what you're getting,
Mertron.
Yeah.
And we knew of a few places
we could sit and eat with her.
Right.
So we thought,
let's just go there.
And it was enjoyable experience.
We put a big massive ugly lead on her
and just let her run free.
That was a massive lead.
It's about 20 metres long.
Brilliant.
It's actually really good for dogs
that you either
don't trust off the lead,
which we don't.
Like, are you allowed to let your dog roam off a lead?
Yeah.
Most people, more people go off the lead than on.
Hmm.
But I must say, I'm a bit funny with it, right?
Because I appreciate it in maybe the beach and parks, I think,
let your dog run.
If they're trained and they'll come back and they won't bother others, let them run.
But I do, I don't know if I agree about it as much.
I know they're all really well trained if they're off,
but on like pavements at roads because I just,
I worry that you never know what's going to spook your dog.
I know.
You just don't.
Yeah.
And like most of my pals are really well trained dogs that are off the lead.
and on the pavement my heart's my mouth the whole time
because I'm like you just
they kind of wandered in between you
and they probably would never go but
wouldn't be me? No with cookie dog anyway
but that was a nice way experience
taking her to the beach she loved it
digging in the sand
she just wanted to play with her dog
so that does make me sad
some of them played with her
some of them were like
no you seem annoying
that's like all kids to Jensen
I do feel they're similar
They are, aren't they?
Cookie would run off with a stranger and so would Jensen
Yeah, and they wouldn't look back
I think that's maybe like our parenting perhaps
Hmm
Maybe
Sounds a bit like us
Last thing I want to see as we went to the Clarence
We did
And it was the first time I've been there
It made a lovely experience, didn't we?
They do these
Beefy humongous onion rings
Yep
Salt and vinegar is it
With salt and vinegar powder on top, I'll insert a photo here of the makeshift bag that they gave me to take away.
Honestly, I'll bring that out in a week.
No, Valencia.
Valencia.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That was amazing.
Honestly, the whole food, the service, everything about the Clarence.
And I said to Zerrian, I sat there.
In fact, we've logged it for one of our monthly specials.
So you will see it if you're on Patreon.
But I was saying, I'm going to say that the Clarence is up there with.
one of my favorite restaurants, top three in Glasgow, 100%.
Yeah.
Because I've been there multiple times now,
so I think I can say that.
Same way, because we got asked on the radio,
like what's our favorite restaurant?
And I really struggled with that question.
Because it does depend on circumstances.
I've got, yeah, exactly.
Depends completely on my mood.
It depends on who you are as a person,
like what you like to eat.
When people ask me recommendations,
like where should I go in Glasgow?
I can give you a list of 100 places.
Yeah.
Or none.
You might think where I advise you to go is a bit hipster
or it's maybe a little bit too traditional
or it's maybe a bit too spicy.
I like all of those things.
Yeah, definitely.
But it's like what mood am I am?
So I answered Big Counter and you answered Don Costanzo,
which Don Costanzo is equally one of mine as well.
But with Big Counter,
you don't know what you're going to get
because the menu changes.
That's where I frequent to go
if I'm going on like a date night with Richard.
But would I go there every single week with my pals?
no, I'd probably go to Sugo.
Yeah.
Or somewhere with ease, that's cheaper.
You know, you're kind of guaranteed to get a pretty decent meal.
You know what you're getting.
Consistency.
And with the Clarence, I've now been there a lot, a lot, to be honest.
But you've also had the main menu and the roast there.
And lunch menu.
So you've experienced.
And I've had the roast about three times, being excellent every single time.
Three times I've tried the different menu.
I've been there for an event.
And every time I've had an incredible.
meal.
Service, amazing.
It's a lovely vibe as well.
And it's next to that bar we like now, 1841.
Oh my God, we love it.
The olives.
But it's the same group, if you didn't know, as Kalebrook,
where we did that wonderful interview with Lorna McKney,
and Brett and Caravan, where we've spoke about before.
So you guaranteed for it to be pretty decent.
What we've done there?
You drop coffee down, your white jacket.
This jacket's taking a beat in the day.
Isn't it?
Although it's kind of waterproof, so...
Is that a thing?
We should maybe talk a little bit about some new openings actually
whilst we're on the subject of restaurants,
which you've finished your list of what to catch us apart.
Or am finished.
Oh, okay, we hen.
Let's do it.
So in Finiston, you've got bar, Danny, new little small plate, wine bar.
It's giving...
Looks cool.
Oh.
Cheers.
Cheers, my dears.
It's same owners as Calvin Grove Cafe.
Again, you know it's going to be good because they're bloody brilliant there.
Yeah. There's a new place as well in the south side called Next Door. Oh my God, she's found a bubble. I've been asking for one.
A new restaurant in Southside called Next Door, same owner as Corner Shop.
Wow, is it? I like that name.
Yeah, it's cool, isn't it? Where you going next door?
Yeah, I like that, Zoe.
We never mentioned this, but it's been open for a while, but we morning rush coffee spot again in the same.
south side.
What's really good about morning rush is it's a tiny weenie place.
It's open at 7am.
Wow, and not a lot are which is surprising.
Exactly.
So if you want a coughing, you're from that way in the morning.
I've not been, but it looks really cute.
Love the brandon.
You don't want to support all the mainstream ones, you know?
Love the vibes.
Go there.
What else we've got on as this are?
We've also got by Babel, which is just opened,
Kenning Park area, right near where we record, actually.
Which looks really cool.
That looks really cool.
I think it's...
It's going to be brunch?
I think it's like breakfast, brunch and lunch.
How do you spell that?
B-A-B-B-B-O.
Oh, nice.
If you look it up on Instagram, it's by...
B-Y, and then B-A-B-B-B-O.
Really cute colours.
It's like the blue and the brown.
Love.
Really cute brand and love that as well.
We've also got Andersons.
Oh, yes.
Which is the new pub.
Brilliant spot.
Open up in town right across the road from Sister Midnight.
And next door to Pineapple Express.
Best match are you getting, Glasgow.
FYI.
And I actually went to the opening of it and it's a very well decorated pub.
Like it's nice.
Yeah.
Like a bar, but it's a pub still.
Okay.
And it's also one of the only other places that does the tenants.
Right.
You know the real tenants?
Yeah.
What's it called again?
Like a draft.
beer?
Yes, but there's only
the citizen is the other place it does
it in Anderson's as the other, when it actually
comes out of the
big tenants
can thing.
Whereas others it's through
I don't know, I don't know what they call it.
Or they buy barrels and put it underneath.
It's a beer word.
Right, okay, well any beer experts will know what you're talking about
hopefully. I wonder if the citizen or anyone's
got it in their
in their bio.
Yeah, because my brother was telling me that Andrewsians.
Have you ever done the tenants bit or?
I don't really hear many people talk about that.
I wonder if it's any good?
No, I've not.
But you know what?
I wouldn't be against doing it.
I wouldn't be against it.
I wouldn't mind doing that as part of my list instead of something else I'm not going to achieve.
Maybe a cooking class.
No, I really want to do that.
Yeah.
When's George Square opening?
Surely that soon.
It's taking a while.
I saw some, um, some image.
of that on Instagram it looks decent.
I'm just, I know we say it all the time,
but I just love Glasgow.
I know, me too.
There's a lot kicking off in Edinburgh as well.
You've got the fringe coming up, guys.
Maybe I should do a little roundup
of some of my favourite places in Edinburgh,
but do you know what it is?
It's because it feels like it changes a lot in Edinburgh.
And some of my favourite places to go
are a little bit further out.
They're not necessarily on like...
And the strip, yeah.
So I do struggle to think.
about that. I don't want to send people too far
but again there's so many
lovely places popping up there.
All like the wee like
cute small kind of places
that are nice. The leaf was lovely when I went last
time. You've also got Sprague's
just opened up and Byers Road
and you've got the big
Takerio. Takero. Takero.
Takero. In Finnisdon now? Yeah so that's
in the old Raffers down
hidden lane. That's right. In Finiston
and that was originally in, is it Balak?
Yeah, Balak.
Balak area.
No, yeah.
Up near Lutalman.
Yeah, it was around that way, wasn't it?
Yeah.
There's a new restaurant as well called Sunday Hat
that I've seen lots of people talking about.
I believe it is owned by Caitlin and a husband that own homemade.
Nice, what kind of food?
Looks like Italian.
Can he beat it.
Great name.
And I also wanted to give a shout out to,
simple kitchen who I've been getting meal preps from. So when I put it on my story like,
where can I get? I had honestly endless replies and everyone looked lovely and I wanted to kind
of support a more smaller business because I could go and get it off like some of the bigger ones
and I just don't think it's going to be that fresh but what's more fresh than getting it
cooked from someone 20 minutes down the road from you and they deliver it to you that day. I'm sorry,
it's fucking amazing. So impressed. I get the ick of reheated chicken and I tried it and it was
bloody gorgeous.
I had one another night.
So you did.
Yeah, what did you think?
What did you have?
Really good.
You had the beef.
It was like a spicy beef with rice.
And it had like a nice creamy sauce.
And a nice creamy sauce.
Oh, that was lovely.
Yeah, that was nice.
I think I had that one yesterday.
And they did a really nice overnight.
Oh, Richard said it's honestly one of his favorite things he's had because for him
coming in late twice a week at around half nine, it is perfect for...
So easy.
But, yeah.
And it comes straight to your door.
Big shout out for them.
Right, what have you been up to, Tent, Tellers?
Yeah, I went to Oben.
Mm-hmm.
Really lovely weekend.
I got invited to a place, and I still need to share it on Just Jess.
But it's called Glen Cruton House, and I got to stay in their new villas.
Looked gorgeous.
Hands down, the nicest cabin, shall we say, but it's a villa that I've stayed in in Scotland.
Love it.
Need to be honest about the actual hotel itself though
because if I was a paying customer
it would be very expensive to do what we just did right
and I'm absolutely grateful for it
but the whole point of me going to somewhere like this is to be honest
I was to influence someone to go
and pay for it would I be happy
and would I want them to pay that money?
Definitely think the villas and cabins
you will have an incredible time.
Jensen was able to go, you've got your own jacuzzi
there's a sauna it's you've got alpacas on site
Like peacocks, a peacock was fucking walking on our bloody balcony.
It was amazing.
But the actual castle, Glen Cruton House, it is wonderful, right?
But it's very Scottish folklore, sort of gothicy.
Everybody that stayed there that we came across was lovely, but they were all American.
And I guess what you have to think about is with these places that are in the highlands and Fairfax,
to them, right?
They have to capitalise on Scottish, on tourism, sorry.
Because they don't make all that money all year round.
So their menu are massively catered towards tourists.
But this menu, it wasn't suitable for Jensen to go.
So I never ended up going.
I hadn't heard great things from this tasting menu and it looked expensive.
You know, they put glitter on a lot of things.
It's quite like style over substance, shall we say.
Like gimmicky maybe.
Yeah.
Now, if I was staying there for the full weekend, I wouldn't want to go and do that again.
No.
So there's sort of like, you can only go and do that experience the once.
You know what I'm like with dark spaces and dark rooms?
It's just not really my thing.
But beautiful.
Like it had a big massive piano.
There's a pool table in there.
It's quite quiet.
It's creaky.
You know, that sort of vibe.
Yeah.
Then I had the afternoon tea there the next day.
I didn't enjoy it at all.
Really?
Right.
No.
And guys, I'm 100% give honest feedback to the team.
And they were wonderful.
Can I say like they absolutely want to hear
all the thoughts.
Yeah, so they know this, but I just have to be honest.
You know what it was? It didn't match
the vibe that I experienced
in the villa 100 yards away.
Yeah, and it just felt all a bit off
compared to that. It was, hands down,
the nicest place I've stayed in a
long time. It is Scotland probably, like,
in terms of that sort of style of
overnight that you're after.
Yeah, but it didn't match
it. There was a place I stayed not too long
ago last year down in the late district
and I had
It was a gifted stay.
Do you remember this?
Yeah. And it was wonderful.
I thought the facilities were great,
but the service really lacked and the food was terrible.
I gave the feedback to the people,
and they didn't want me to share it at all.
And I basically said,
I'm going to share this,
but I'm going to be honest with my followers,
and they didn't want me to.
Yeah.
So you kind of like,
the last thing I want to do is promote someone to spend a lot of money
and then feel like just what the fuck.
No, I know.
It feels like a bit of a pish or doesn't it?
And when they are,
amazing and they want to hear the feedback.
That makes a difference.
Yeah.
And I would also want to point out that I would never speak about somewhere negatively online
if I had nothing good to say.
Yeah, you would just not speak about it at all.
I think that could be terribly damaging for a small business.
I'm just not that sort of person.
I feel like negativity is so massively praised
and they don't understand how damaging it can be unless someone was a right fucking
gun.
I know, but then there's also like, it's all just matter of opinions.
So like you could actually severely damage and ruin a business just because you don't
like it but maybe
exactly
and all
the American tourists
we're bloody loving it
yeah so that's what I mean
it's like it's not your style
it's not my style
there's nothing wrong with it
it's just not your style
yeah I ended up going to
on the Friday night
when we didn't go for the fine dining experience
we went for just some good old
fish and chips at the open
fish and chip shop it's Rick Stein's
favourite place went up to a nice play park
there the actual harbouring
open's gorgeous if not been
you could also get the ferry over to
is it mull
you could go and do some nice trips
and then on the Sunday
we had to change
check out about 11.
Went to a restaurant called Tyntrush.
I'm hopefully, I've pronounced that right.
But it's just about 10 minute drive from where we were.
And this was excellent.
It was like a pub in the middle of nowhere.
Check them out.
I think they have like a Michelin or AA rosette.
They also catered to tourists because they have to.
But their menu is simple but done well.
Like we had cauliflower cheese soup,
an incredible Sunday roast where the portions were,
massive. Everything was piping hot. Service was lovely. It was simple in there. Great value for money.
They were great with Jensen. Can't recommend that one enough. Like if you're going to go and do it,
please head there because it was so lovely. And the couple that owned it as well, they were from
Glasgow and they moved out there to try, they bought out this old pub and they've just done it
so incredibly well. So yeah, add that to your list when you're on your little road trips.
There you go. I'll chat to Aubin.
Why not?
Why not?
Yeah.
The midgies, yeah, they're bad, you know.
And when we were going to the alpacas at the hotel, they were saying that they were so bad this year more than they've ever, ever seen before.
I don't know.
Does the heat make it worse?
Like dampness?
Like dampness, heat.
Oh yeah, it's dampness, isn't it?
And the alpacres and that were like kicking and itching.
Oh, that's a shame.
I know, but they were very well looked after.
They loved a carrot.
I'm loving animals more and more by the day.
Might be a vegan.
I wanted to do the five things worth the money trends.
Oh but so we are. I don't know my answers to this.
Well, I'll tell you mine.
Okay.
Number one, Botox.
Oh, without a doubt.
Number two, clean coal towels.
Isn't that just like a flannel?
But I get them on subscription every month.
It's quite like an unnecessary expense.
Sounds like wastage.
Instead of just using a towel that's bad for your skin.
Right.
Fine.
Do you wet your feet?
face and then dry it with the clean towel or do you wet the clean towel and wipe your face with
that? Dry it with the towel, dry it with the thing. Got it okay. Yeah. Composite bonding. I couldn't
agree more. A cleaner. Yeah. If they're good. If they're good. And my final one is anything
M&S. Yeah, you've made it in life if you're an affidado or you're buying from waitrose. That's
when you've got cash monies. You get cash. Yeah. You're not looking about price as in the supermarket,
although I don't do that. You are not looking at for yellow.
stickers in store, they give you the ick.
I love a yellow sticker.
My mom loves a yellow sticker.
You know, M&S is great to go.
It's like, is it 7pm?
Yeah, because they usually shut about 8, I think.
They're quite an early.
They shut early as well.
They don't need, they don't need to.
No, we don't need to be working late nights.
No, they don't.
Right, tell me yours, think.
Come on.
Okay, now.
I'm going to say the aura ring.
Yep, I really like that.
Yeah, I'm liking the aura ring.
Regular lymphatic drainage massages.
Definitely.
You've already said Botox, I can't say that.
Okay, a facialist then.
Someone, take away aesthetics.
I'm talking about facials and stuff to.
Skin hailed.
Can I say like skincare?
Yeah, skin hail.
Shit, you said teeth.
I'm going to personally have to say,
even though I don't have this,
but I would love to if I could afford it,
would be solid gold jewelry ear stack.
Okay, yeah, mm-hmm.
Because I'm allergic to nickel.
That's a good one.
Plopper, good shit.
it in every hole in your ear.
But the reason why I think that's a good one is because it would last forever.
Absolutely.
I want to call it Ashty and Meyu, by the way.
Like I spent hundreds of...
I was just thinking that.
Hundreds of pounds that saw, Zoe.
Do you remember that? About three years ago now.
Nearly fainted when they told me much it was going to be, yeah.
Because I have got no choice.
If I'm having an earring up here, like I have to have it as real gold.
And then all the gems fell out, went into the store and complained,
and they said, oh, we can give you a 30-pound gift voucher.
I haven't in once because of the wee class, but the back.
you know like when it becomes it's not clicking in anymore.
Yeah.
And I think because it was either just over a year or I maybe didn't have a receipt,
but I was like, but you can see it as your earring though.
You can literally see it.
And you can see that it's not clasping.
So regardless, does it really matter?
Right.
And then do you know what I would love to say as well, which I think would be amazing?
But this will bring me on perfectly to my next thing.
I want to tell you.
I would say private healthcare.
I don't have it, but I really want it.
Mm-hmm.
Because health as a whole for me,
me would be worth its weight in gold.
Oh, absolutely.
Do you know what I mean by that?
I think there's no money.
I don't think anything matters in the world.
Good health matters to me.
Yeah.
And like looking after myself.
But obviously I don't have that.
So let me think of something else.
What expensive and worth it?
A child?
Okay, right.
This brings me on to me speaking on the pod saying that.
I feel like that's something wrong with me, my allergies.
I've got something.
I don't think I've spoke about this in the pod,
but I've got really bad malasma at the moment.
You can't see it all that much on the pod,
but it is coming back up and me and Emma,
we're working on it, guys.
I had a one-to-one chat with Georgia
that she came on the podcast, Balanced Boss,
to speak about that Dutch test.
I've been interested in it since she mentioned it to me.
Not gifted guys whatsoever.
I was going to pay for it with Georgia,
and I still am.
But she said to me,
it's definitely worth you getting your full bloods done
with the doctors, as well as this.
There's no point in pain privately
when you can get it with the doctor.
But I said, oh, bloody hell, you know,
I'm obviously sitting there doubting the system thinking
they're not going to be interested in me.
I can't get an appointment.
So anyway, I called.
I was like, I just want to have my blood's done, please.
A doctor will call you back.
Doctor called me today, and I'm going to be honest.
The moment that they phoned me, it was a man.
And I thought, no chance.
Not a fucking chance here.
He was amazing.
I love to heed it.
I was like, you know what?
I'm calling up because, you know,
when you just know that something's not quite very,
right. I'm feeling quite tired all the time, which I said, you know, it could be normal.
I have got a toddler, but I'm struggling with energy at the moment. I'm constantly bloated.
I mentioned about my allergies being really rife and my cycle being extremely long. I said,
I don't know what's going on. I don't know if that's all linked, whatever. And every single
thing that I mentioned, he mentioned the blood test that I need for it. Then I said, you know what,
10 years ago, I was told that I had polycystic cystic ovaries and I was checked servically twice for
them but I never had the physical blood test
for it which Georgia mentioned on the pod
right you remember and I was like no I never got a blood test
yeah he's like right so he listed
everything that he's going to get sorted
for me and I was fucking shook
so all I wanted was my full blood count
but he's like I'm going to get you and
I apologise if I say any of these wrong because I was writing
them down as you were saying it but I don't know what half
of them fucking men not seen them running down yourself
yeah full blood count
use and ease LFTs TFTs
calcium albumin
testosterone C-A-Y
1-25, which is the ovary one, I think.
Ferritin B-12 folate.
And all I've got to do is call up the number that he said
and it's going to arrange it for me.
And I'm getting all these bloods done.
I honestly felt a big massive sigh of relief.
I was like, oh, thank you so, so much.
That's so good though, isn't it?
I just don't know if it's, I personally think it's stress.
Yeah, it could be.
It could be, I'm not saying I'm stressed.
Help me.
Your body's under stress.
Yeah.
From just being always on with like Jensen and things.
I think so.
Mm-hmm.
I always feel a bit like,
your head's just a million miles and out at all times.
Yeah.
Well, that could be it.
So, you know what?
What I'll do is I'll get the test.
Keep it updated.
Yeah, because he said to me,
you need to go and bring your doctor,
and they'll go through it for you.
So watch this, I'll have nothing.
But then what I'll do then is I will buy the Dutch test.
And there was another one that she was saying,
it's like, is it G-I-Map or something,
which is more your gut health.
Yeah, that's right, yeah.
Which I could pay it.
That was a bit more.
That was 300-quid, that one.
The Dutch test would be all transparent,
yours was 208 I think
which I'll definitely do that one. I think I can
justify the other one at the moment.
The Dutch one's the more hormonal focused
hormone focused one? Yes.
Yeah that's right. I think. Yeah.
So I'll keep you all updated and then if I don't have
any good results from this then I'll look at further
private testing. You know because we said we wanted a full body scan?
Yeah, we'd love. That Randox health in Glasgow
looks a good one as well. I'd love that. Do you know where else does it? Hold on.
Holon. Holon and Great Weston Road
do loads of testing. Really,
thorough ones as well.
I'd love loads of tests at that as well.
I just think we should all be doing it,
but it's hard when it's difficult to get NHS to do it for you
because it needs to be that there's a problem.
Yeah.
But there shouldn't need to be a problem.
But I do think...
Like I said, like I had every...
I didn't have any faith in that manner.
But this is just to let anyone know.
If you feel the same way or you want to get a test,
ask for it.
Yeah.
But what I was going to say was actually make sure you mention the fact
that you're maybe quite knowledgeable to an extent.
about other things that could help these things
and that you're already doing that.
Yeah.
Because I think the struggle is probably that people go
just in like such a
like bad mood already about it,
just that I'm not going to get help but I feel tired all the time.
You've got a bit of knowledge at least because then they'll think right,
okay, they're actually concerned about this.
It's not just like, I'm tired, what can you do?
Yeah, because you've got a million people doing that.
And we were speaking to Heather who owns niche earlier
because she was talking about gut health issues.
and you know there's certain things that could be wrong with you what was it called sebo sebo yeah where it's something to do in your small is it your small intestine it was either izzie or georgia that said it on my pod and you can take pre or probiotics for it and for gut health but if you have this problem it actually makes it worse yeah
that's wrong about me now yeah well it's just concerning isn't it bloody hell but that's because we're all influenced by things online though and you're taking all these bloody multivitamins where you're probably taking too much too much
much iron or magnesium or zinc in all these supplements, you're overdoing it because you don't
actually look, you're just following at what someone online said. It's like, you know what,
this made me feel ten times better. I know, so I'll take it too. I know. Hard. Right, should we do
a couple dilemmas? Sexy story when your boyfriend's fantasy leads to a plot twist. Go on then,
let's go.
When I first met my boyfriend, he expressed either fantasy he'd never acted on. He'd loved to,
watch his partner with another man.
Now, I'll be honest, my immediate reaction
wasn't a good one. I was like,
hang on, does this mean you don't actually love me?
Cue, many, many conversations.
Over time, I realised
it wasn't about replacing me or wanting someone else.
It was just something that turned him on.
I wasn't convinced I'd ever wanted to do it in new life,
but I dipped my toe into the idea with a bit of dirty talk
in the bedroom. It stayed firmly in the fantasy category.
Until one random night,
a couple of years into a relationship,
we were staying in a hotel, having a few,
few drinks at the bar and I got chatting to a guy.
Spicy Marg number two went straight to my fanny and I remember all those conversations with my partner.
I thought, fuck it, let's see if he's actually serious.
So in what was either my boldest or most ridiculous moment to date, I whispered to the guy in the
bar that my partner would love to watch him fuck me and gave him a room number.
I walked back to my partner looking far too pleased with myself and casually said I've just
invited someone back.
The look on his face was priceless, equal parts of excitement
and yeah right.
We went back to the room and shortly after there was a chap at the door.
Loll, here we go, I'm thinking, oh shit, get me five more spicy margs.
We took things slowly, kissing and touching
and I kept glanced over at my boyfriend to make sure he wasn't raging.
I've genuinely never seen anyone look so delighted in all my life.
What?
The man looked like a cat that got the cream.
Afterwards, once our unexpected hotel guest had left,
my partner was absolutely beaming
safe to say it wasn't just
a fantasy after all
that was two years ago and since
then we've explored consensual non-monogamy
together a handful of times
sometimes it's just me having sex with a guy
while he watches sometimes he joins in
and the biggest surprise of it all is that somewhere
along the line I ended up enjoying it too
the funniest part the woman who once thought
if he loved me he never want this is now the same woman
who loves the thought of watching him with another woman
So women are involved as well now?
It's definitely easier to find a willing single guy to take part than a willing single woman.
So if there's any sexy willing single ladies or couples in Glasgow in surrounding areas, hit me up.
What the fuck?
That's mad.
How can we hit them up with her though?
No, I know.
It's synonymous.
Synonymous.
Maybe you'll be me. I know who you are.
I think that's crazy.
But in a good way.
Can you imagine whispering to someone saying fuck me?
Yeah
Oh I can't
I could actually but
Not sober
No definitely not
But I don't know if I would use the word fuck
Yeah
What would you say shag
Do you want to
Come back to my room
He-he and watch some together
Who else my boyfriend and watch us
Fair
I love that
Send us more of that
Kinky shit
I mean
You lot are out there
We know you exist
So
Tell us
Let us know
We also had a message
Saying Mondays are for the girls
I like a miss
trend we've got going on
Giving you all advice
Making you have fun again is what we'll say
Yeah
I've seen it everywhere again
I sent Zerri one this morning
from a brand that was shared
feral girl summer
and why and how we're all
becoming fun again.
We are though. We are as facts.
Okay.
Thank God by the way.
Thank God we need to be fun again.
Just wanted to write in on the back of today's episode
when you were chatting about the group of girls
who send in voice notes to one another on a Monday.
My friends and I do something similar.
Life gets busy and we're all in different paths at the moment
but we really do value our friendships.
We're all from Glasgow.
I currently live in Dubai and one of the girls is about to move to Australia and two are still at home.
Every Monday since I've moved, which has been about six months now, we have sent in a ten-picture dump into our group chat.
Things we have been up to from the previous week. Again, no pressure for it to be anything crazy, just a few picks to show how your week's been.
With a little message to explain what's been happening. It really makes me feel like we are all still connected and makes you romanticise the little things in life.
Sending it on a Monday is really uplifting and on a Monday.
is really uplifting and honestly I now really look forward to it instead of getting the Monday blues
thought it may be a good idea for those in similar situations to keep up to date with your besties
who you may not see very often. I love that. No, I really love that. That's nice as well.
I do like when you say in the chat what's everyone up to this weekend, voice note please.
Yeah. And everyone tells you what's got fans. Because I'm really bad for assuming you're doing
fuck all if I don't know what you're doing. Yeah. Or if it doesn't involve me.
They must be bored without me.
They must be doing nothing if I'm not involved.
No, I love that.
That's lovely.
Let's go over to Patreon now then
because we've got some more updates on people sending in their thoughts on it.
Is it Masseter Botox?
Oh, yeah.
I need to discuss that.
Because there's been lots of fours and lots of against.
And I want to talk about something that I'm starting with Jensen as of.
this week. Okay?
What? I don't know what that is.
So I'll see you over there.
See you over there.
Thank you so much for listening and watching.
As always. Please like and subscribe.
