Starting point is 00:00:03 Now, of course, getting into Darlene Love, even if you're a musician from the 40s, you still have to go through the system. You guys. See, that's the problem. You're probably wondering to yourself. But what do you mean by that? Because currently, she does have one of the most successful Christmas tracks in the year of 2025. As with future chart predictions slated for December 27, she is slated to have. have the 17th most played track in the world that is Christmas in parentheses baby please

Starting point is 00:00:41 come home and as of right now she has the 18th most played track in the world so safe to say she's going to be keeping her position you're probably thinking to yourself how in the world is a particular track that that was recorded in the 60s still prominent in the year of 2025 well we're going to answer that today but of course i wanted to start off with when this was really least because of course this track was an initial failure you guys as when it first came out November 22nd 1963 for my historians or I'm not going to call you old but I'm just going to say for the people who've been on this earth for quite some time may remember what happened November 22nd 1963 as that was the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated

Starting point is 00:01:29 So with that being said, I think the overall initial failure was because of that instance and having it pulled from promotion as far as the entire album. And of course, the commercial impact delayed for decades. As now that you look at the in totality, the success of the particular track, Christmas in parentheses, baby please come home. the main thing that drives the engagement factor is the late night show with david letterman as from 1986 to 2014 28 consecutive years darlene had performances at the late show and of course letterman nicknamed her the christmas queen so safe to say when it comes to promotional splits and things that nature even the late show could have had certain splits especially far as revenue from that particular song.

Starting point is 00:02:27 I'm not saying that it was marketing that made this song what it is, because it's still a phenomenal and fantastic song. But when you look at it in totality, it initially failed, and I believe the late show had a huge hand and making it more of a mainstream Christmas anthem. As when it came to the post-letterman era, they continued the tradition as The View and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon

Starting point is 00:02:53 also continued the tradition of having her perform, I'm showing right now as far as her performance. So the main, well, analytic dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with the audio. So when you look at her performances as far as a late night show, you come to realize her as an artist has immense accomplishments under her belt. As she's three times platinum as of April 2023. Three million plus units as far as a digital error. And of course, when you look at Billboard Hot 100, her first ever entry was in 2018 and that was 55. years post release.

Starting point is 00:03:28 I know that ain't who I think it is. Whenever you think that your craft may not be respected via the masses, just think of darling love that is the epitome of longevity as 55 years post-release and now you're having your first ever entry on Billboard. And safe to say she continued having success as the Christmas Baby Please Come Home Track is currently the 18th most played track in the world as far as future chart predictions slated for December 27th, it's slated to be the 17th most play track in the world. So now, when you look at the overall totality of her career, safe to say she is now being,

And of course, when you look at the splits, because you already know when a successful track is successful, and the artist always is going to double back to make sure the payments are right. And safe to say, it was not. as Darlene had a lawsuit set for Phil Spector back in 1993 as she sued the producer Phil Specter for unpaid royalties for her 1960s recordings. As you already know back in that day, how they was looking at us in general as far as a totality, as far as a society. And of course, the type of obstacles that we had to overcome back in the day, I think in today's age,

Starting point is 00:04:52 It's much easier to be accepted than it was back in that day. And you know, of course, why that is. So without getting on my soapbox, let's basically just talk about how the lawsuit went. As when it came to the lawsuit, the jury awarded her $250,000 in back royalties. And as of right now, she earns a monumental amount of revenue from her Christmas anthems. and the estimates is between four to five million dollars and of course the christmas baby please come home track recorded in 1963 is still making a notorious mass effect in the year of 2025 and of course in the foreseeable future because when you perform at the light light show it definitely has a

Starting point is 00:05:45 monumental effect on the masses especially they leave that live performance thinking to themselves hold them now what does this track sound like on ds let me just play this for myself now that i've already seen the live performance, which usually is why artists perform the way that they do when they're live. Because of course, if you perform the way you're supposed to, your people in attendance would definitely go away from that saying to themselves. Well, let me play more of that particular artist's music, which is why live performance is always a hugely impactful, revenue. It's really impactful, especially for revenue.
