Starting point is 00:00:00 And we're live. Andy Frasco's World Saving Podcast. I'm Andy Frasco. This is Nick, my fearless leader. My fearless cop. No, you're the leader. I just wanted you to say it. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:00:17 I've never. Once again, I'm being conflated with other people. Once again, Frasco's gaslighted me again. To yell at other people through the podcast. How we doing? How's your hearts and how's your minds? How's your hearts? How's your minds? How is um, an hour with your pals Nick and Andy today? How we doing?
Starting point is 00:00:39 People love the relationship expert one. I get a lot of. Yeah, dude, I got a lot of people like exes. Yeah, and it's called me. Yeah. Really? Who called me and say, Hey man, I really just want to say thanks. I'm like, what? Even the J word. You should have been like, Ooh, you listen to my podcast. You should just like, yeah, I got a couple messages from yeah, I mean you're vulnerable as fuck on that podcast too I couldn't believe it your friend texted me she goes that's the first time I've ever heard you ever Stumble over words in my like not be able to get a point across I forgot to do my bit I do when people ask me anyway. Well, how's your mind? How's your heart? How's just fucking being alive, but yeah, man
Starting point is 00:01:23 It's pretty fine, I guess. You good? Good. What's going on? Not much, man. Just living life. Did my Victor Wooten show. I've been working on other stuff. Yeah? Watching your Insta stories.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Keeping an eye on you. Making sure you're in Mexico. Man, I love Mexico. You do. You just... What did you do down there all week? I just kind of just... What do you do down there all week? I just kinda just. Like what do you do all day? My brain slowed down.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Yeah. Doesn't really, there's no TV. I didn't watch TV. There's Wi-Fi. So my buddy Ben and Ray. How do you work? Who are going on these vacations together. Ben Russell?
Starting point is 00:01:58 Ben Russell. The love muscle. Yeah, yeah, come on. They just got, they just bought this beautiful, beautiful house in Pescadero so I was I did the goose thing which was fucking awesome Yeah, it's cool a lot cooler than I expected the crowd looked way bigger than what I expected like 28 3,000 people Yeah, I didn't those Mexico things aren't always that big sometimes you go to you do these fucking first-time Mexico things And it's fucking Jimmy Ray, but I got to give it up for fucking Dan Berkowitz and Ben Baruch. Yeah I mean those guys don't fuck around.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Cuz that shit was fucking awesome it looked like hipster it looked like Jam Band Mad Max dude. And you kind of stayed away from where the performances were I was noticing in the group chat? Yeah they put they put us downtown which was sick. That's fun. In the art district so I wasn't like. You get to live. Yeah I was like it's like it wasn't felt like those resort things or like those again where you could just be on a cruise ship Basically, yeah, it was us and eggy and all and then there were some fans there, but they were cool They're like it was a fancy ass hotel, but it was us and I really bonded with those boys eggy on that trip What's the dogs not there dogs were there?
Starting point is 00:02:59 but you know, we've seen each other for a long time And you know, I think we're giving each other our space. But, mad love. I mean, they're fucking amazing. But, what was I gonna say? What was cool is like, you know, we're such a community. So every time, you know, everyone would be in our green room. Pigeons, dogs, eggy, all these crews
Starting point is 00:03:23 would be in our green room. And then, you know, we'd crews would be in our green room and then you know we'd be having fun laughing and shit then we look to the left and Dawes and war on drugs are just sitting there by themselves like I wanted to invite them. Aren't they not friends with each other? They're just not as friendly yeah. What are you gonna say? Indie rock. Very pretentious. It's Very pretentious It's a pretentious scene. It is a little pretentious. It's a she for how bad they usually are at their instruments They're like art school kids. Okay, I gotta get you know, I was ready to shit on Dawes live
Starting point is 00:03:54 You're good, right fucking Taylor Goldsmith a fucking amazing guitar player. Yes Yeah, I was like, you know, they're sleepy a little Christian Christian rocky for me, Dawes. But I mean, I grew up with their music as a kid. They're definitely good at something. I saw them fucking in a jam band element. That was fucking tight. He can solo? What? He can play guitar?
Starting point is 00:04:15 He could fucking rip a guitar and he could sing his ass off. He can sing. He was singing harmony with Rick on Goose. I bonded with that dude too. He texted, he was a nice text he sent me. I like Rick. Yeah, he's like, hey man. Cause he, I was the only band he didn't sit in with. I think he felt bad. Cause I didn't ask him either cause I'm like proud.
Starting point is 00:04:35 So if you're not gonna ask me, I'm not gonna ask you. You know, it's the same thing. Yeah, you're petty. I'm petty. But he texted me, he's like, hey man. Just slipped my mind that, you know, I'm like next time we play music, let's play music together and stuff.
Starting point is 00:04:48 And then we'll play. He had a lot going on too, I bet. He was sitting in with everyone, that's why I didn't ask him too. I'm like, dude, like, the last thing I want is you to feel forceful to be on a set with us, you know? He did plenty. Yeah, so it was cool.
Starting point is 00:05:01 We bonded with him a bit. I hung out with his mom. His mom loves me. I met her at one of his shows. Yeah, she's cool as shit. So shout out to Rick's mom. And I met his sister. The bad bitch right there. That's a baddie right there. You know what I'm saying? I think I met her. Yeah, I like Rick. He's definitely my favorite guy. But the fest was great. I mean, they curated a great thing and, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:23 give it up for fucking Goose, man on they're on the nose of that shit. They're making cool events Being rad and tickets selling tickets. They're nice dudes. They're approachable. They're not they're watching He's they're they're watching everyone sets. Oh really on the fast I respect the fuck of that cuz I was doing that too Like yeah, we're side stages like like being proud about dogs in the pile being proud about egg He being proud about these guys who fucking work their ass off to go fucking get it and we're like, hell yeah Mm-hmm, and then I had Anders Osborne. He just called me said he He's like I saw your name on a flyer. I'm a Cabo. Oh my god sit in. Yeah. He was just there
Starting point is 00:06:02 He was just there. Oh, I thought he was same as as Pulse. No. Oh Pulse wasn't on the festival. No. They just called me and said hey what the fuck you guys are. I'm like why are you both here at the same time. Is it some vacation. Yeah so we just hung out and you know. I want to hang out Pulse. He seems funny. He's the best. Yeah he's the best. I bet we would get along. Don't think I forgot. Oh. Don't forgot what? Oh fuck. No. Happy birthday Nick Gaylock! You thought I forgot that shit! I was born. Wow. I should text my mom.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Can I call her and say thank you for fucking letting Nick be born? She can't answer right now, she's at work. She's looking at girls' vaginas. I I wonder how long I had this whole thing set up She's at OBGYN just so you know, she's not like an accountant. That's a creep Birthday, how does it feel being older? It's fine. It's the same. Yeah, once you get past 35, it's all pretty much the same I've noticed you feel content with how your life is going? No, I need to step it up maybe. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:07:06 You shouldn't be content. Oh, God. It's like, I've never been content, right? Well, with how it's going, yeah. I mean, if I'm content, I mean, that means I'm dying. Overall, I think I'm doing pretty good, yeah. I mean, you know, could be way worse. Actually, let me rephrase that.
Starting point is 00:07:22 If I'm content, I realize I'm dying. No, when I feel like I'm content, that's when I start worrying about what's going on. But like also, as I get older, I'm getting more content with my career, so I don't know, maybe I was just a past philosophy, now I don't think that way anymore. No, but you're not like content,
Starting point is 00:07:36 you're not all the way content. What are you doing for your birthday? I don't know, I might just go out to dinner with Julie on Wednesday. You're not going to invite me? If you want to come. I would love to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Just a third wheel, your fucking birthday date. She would love that actually. She loves, she likes you. No, she loves you. She likes you. You said it first. She probably loves you actually. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:07:55 I love you too, Julie. I got some, no, I think the band sounded good this month, the trivia pods coming out. I'm doing things that are going to go in the right direction. Good. Good. Yeah, I'm good. I'm doing things are gonna go in the right direction good Good yeah, I'm good. I look pretty good for my age. You look good Trivia Mondays is going well Yeah, dude. Yeah
Starting point is 00:08:21 But yeah, happy birthday Nick. We're happier alive. I was born everyone send voicemails Saying this week's saying how Gerlach has changed your life. Oh no. How Nick Gerlach has changed your diaper. How Nick Gerlach has changed your approach on happiness and the everlasting dream of falling for falling in love. Happiness is a stop on the highway. It's not a state of being. That's my theory.
Starting point is 00:08:42 You got to come with me when we buy this. So we're buying the hotel. That's happening. It's happening We just got the paperwork. That's awesome. I can't wait to see it. You should take Julie there It's such a cheap vacation like you don't need me there. It's a hotel on the beam kind of confused What this place is it's not a resort. No, it's a six It's a six it's think of it like a bed-and-breakfast With a pool and it has a view of the ocean and And then it's like, it's like real hotel rooms. Real hotel rooms, and they're separate.
Starting point is 00:09:08 And they're separate entrances. So it's not, it doesn't look like, I thought it was like a sort of like tent, sort of. No, no, it's a hotel. You know what I'm talking about? When you kind of go somewhere on a beach and it's sort of like an inside outside vibe. No, it's like.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I'm trying to figure out the name. I want to call it El Bruno to name it after my dad. Oh my God, maybe he'll throw in I've been feeling so guilty not talking, you know, not hype it up my dad I think my cousin got in my fucking ear about that or head about that. Yeah, shane I thought he was more on your chain Oh, yeah, that's cocaine chain Uh, then he and then uh, he but I thought he was on your mom's side
Starting point is 00:09:44 No, she he loves my mom, but he loves my dad and he's like, but what's not a family is he from? He's on my dad's. Okay. I just had it backwards So I want to name this hotel after him because I do need to start Publicly giving him love but aren't there other people invested in it too. They would have to okay that yeah Yeah, Scott. He wants to call it hotel clondestino. I Like Bruno way better. I like El Bruno. That's too long the other one I could never remember how to say that or the hotel clandestine is the hideaway the unknown No, I get this it's like a cool name, but it's just kind of long. Yeah, it's just some people Google it
Starting point is 00:10:16 I like el Bruno a Mars Bruno Mars You can't do that dad and I get sued Bruno Mars el Bruno a Mars. I hope it just sounds like Bruno Mars. What about Hotel Mars? Wait, is his name Dad Mom? No, my dad is name his name is Bruno, my mom's name is Mars. Yeah, like the pop singer Bruno Mars. No, that's their actual names. I get what you're saying, but like it kind of sounds like the singer Bruno Mars. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Is it weird to name hotels after their parents? I don't think so. People think it's cool. Yeah, there's no rules. But this place is amazing. It's in La Posa. It's in Toto Santos. That's 40 minutes from Cabo Pacific side. Right. Right. That one's calling me.
Starting point is 00:11:01 So you fly into Cabo progressive. I'm not even progressive. We're not. We fly into Cabo and you drive 40 minutes and then you're in Toto Santos, which is like Such a magical place like I what do you do run a car? Do you take an uber? How does it work down there? Our box you get there If you buy a car you have to buy a fucking beater cuz that shit it's like jungle There's a city and then it's just just dude fucking wild shit hell yeah like that but it was so fun like it was close to where the goose thing was yeah about 40 minutes it's cool yeah so I
Starting point is 00:11:34 just stayed I was like I'm gonna come here and just like vibe go do party and shit do what do drugs they have drugs in Mexico? You'd be proud of me, I didn't do drugs in Mexico. At all? I had one night. That's it? That's it. That's pretty fucking keep back yourself. That's pretty good. Only one night for me. Pretty good in Mexico. Yeah, you know, it's also I've been like fucking on the road like three weeks. I kept on just staying. I haven't been calling. I know. Yeah, you were, you've been into this. That's fun, I would do that too if I was you, if I was single and had money and just kind of like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:12:09 When I got dough, so I'm like, fuck it, I'm just gonna get a hotel. You can rent this place, so it kind of is like a wash. It's a wash. It's like, I rent this place and I don't, it's basically like, it's a free thing. Yeah, it's like, you kind of, yeah. Well, that's the one thing I want to get this,
Starting point is 00:12:21 when I get this hotel, I could just go there and the off season, and the off season for Toto Santos is the high season here So like no one is in Toto Santos during summer because it's right. It's flipped It's that's like what rain rain rain season is a super fucking hot. It's gonna be that crazy No, it's it's in the mountain. So it's like yeah's like, the hottest it gets is like 85. It just rains a lot. Not even rains a lot, it's just. Every day for like half hour?
Starting point is 00:12:49 Yeah. Like Florida. Yeah, not even every day. It's like once every two weeks. Oh, that's cool. So I could go there and rent this pad out and I could just kind of just live out there for a month. I'll come hang. You should. And it's only a two and a half hour
Starting point is 00:13:06 Flight from Denver. Holy shit. It's so easy. It's probably cheap to fly there, huh under 300 bucks It's like 300 bucks for a trip. That's not bad No, and like we're gonna build these and you're getting these flights last second, too I bet if you have two months ahead of time, they're probably not cheap. Yeah, and we're building these like retreats we're like we're to do like a songwriter retreat. Andrews Osborne wants to get involved and do like these alcoholic anonymous retreats where he has eight people. Cause he's sober. Oh, I forgot about that with him. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I won't be going to those. No, I'll let Andrews.
Starting point is 00:13:34 He's a speaker. Yeah. What if I'm the speaker? Hey guys, don't be me. You're the before pic. The before pic. You want to end up like this guy, you want to end up like that. Yeah, I kind of actually would rather end up like him. Yeah. But the cool thing is like it's seven, it's a seven person hotel,
Starting point is 00:13:52 fits maybe 14 people or whatever. Yeah, two people for a room, yeah. And you could do these retreats where you're on the beach, you got a pool, we got an area where you could do your fucking talks and stuff and because The town closes at like 10 o'clock every night. Oh really? It's just like teak o' time You know, can you stay in the town too? Yeah, I'm like, yeah, I'm two miles from downtown
Starting point is 00:14:17 You just like taking a taxi or something. No, I just yeah you you rent a car or something Not a lot of taxis out there scooter get a scooter like a four-by-four He's like half of us five scooters in the property or something. Yeah, it would get stolen, but I'm gonna build these retreats He's like, oh, he sounds awesome. Yeah, you need another thing Well, that's what's great about this is I'm running it with Cervantes. Oh, that's right. Scottie's in it. Yeah, Jeremy Austin Miller and Duncan Duncan's all savante's Yeah, the savante's it's just three people me Jeremy who lives in a little hobby and and
Starting point is 00:14:54 Savante's Christie's husband. Yeah, so I can run the Airbnb Chrissy's Chrissy and Jeremy are gonna help me run the retreat. Mmm. So is Scott and then Scott's They're gonna help run the festival that we just bought. Tropic of Cancer. It's a pretty good mix of people. Yeah, and I don't feel stressed that it's like just on me. I got an invite to Scott's birthday party
Starting point is 00:15:15 there next January. That's where it is. Can't wait. Yeah, we're headlining that. I don't know if I should talk about that. Well, yeah. Fuck it. It's not until January.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Yeah, I'm headlining. Our first, it is Tropic of Cancer. We are running the Gambit now. Is that a word, Gambit? Gambit. We are running the Gambit. And I'll be headlining and this will be my festival. And we'll be making it once a year.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Hell yeah. That's where you could see me do my own festival. Ready for that Coltette offer. Let's fucking go. I'll give it to you. We had a great show open for Victor Woot. We crushed. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:52 How was that? We fucking crushed. We sounded great. Everybody loved us. The crowd was really good, too. It looked crowded. Was it packed? It was packed.
Starting point is 00:15:58 It wasn't sold out? Well, they do it. The Wootons do this thing where they have a VIP thing. So the upstairs, you can only go upstairs if you're VIP, so those are way more. I think it did really well I don't ask I'm sick, but it was great people didn't expect us to be as aggressive as we are and in things So that was fun. You know, we kind of rock. Oh, yeah, they weren't ready for that next gig. We're opening for you When live it that's your next one? Yeah, let it go in that version of it I'm doing that panic after party, but I'm only taking Neil to that.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Really? Levitt Pavilion, baby! We're headlining Levitt. Free show. Free. Free show for the people. People have already been getting their things. They've been telling me about it. Hey, did you go to the Opio show? I didn't. I couldn't go, but I wanted to. It looked amazing. Yeah, it did. An orchestra. I know. I was was almost in it and then I couldn't they already had their that orchestra I don't really know the guy that runs that I've been getting into House music like who LP go be yeah, she's dope. She's dope and I like opio He's not really EDM or dubstep. No. Mmm. He's not house. Oh, yeah Yeah, it's funks. Maybe like funk step or something. There's too many Too many genre things. But yeah, he does have some dubstep drops. But yeah, I know what you mean
Starting point is 00:17:10 It's a little more musical. I like playing I've done a bunch of gigs with him. He's fun I'll do it when it's not the orchestra and it's more just like a band. Mm-hmm. You mean game a lot of drama In the jam scene. Yeah, everybody. Oh the seems like everyone is either fire in their band Molly Tuttle my tall ditch the band you think she fired the band or they all quit I already know I don't know I don't really know her that well okay I thought you guys were homies I wish I could call Kyle Tuttle and ask him what's up should we just call him is that the guy that plays in her band yeah but they're not related right I want to call
Starting point is 00:17:46 Bayless but he would... No, we can't call Bayless. He's out on... And then unfortunately Chris Myers has left on Freeze for Key. Oh my gosh. Crazy. I mean they have the same lineup. He's... Everyone's keeping it hush-hush. They know my yin-tas. I have no clue. Man, I want to call... He will not. I don't think it was like one thing. I can't do that. I think it's just, you know, relationships yenta ass. I have no clue man. I want to call you will not I don't think it was like one thing I can't just you know relationships run their course 22 years with someone I'm dealing I'm dealing with this 15 years in with my band You know, it's crazy a long time man. They had to be the jam band with the same lineup for the longest 22 no biscuits got a new drummer. He got they got a new drummer. Damn. What do you think happened?
Starting point is 00:18:23 new drummer. They got a new drummer? Damn. What do you think happened? Um. Do you think they fought? You think like what if like. I mean I you know I have some ideas I don't want to talk about it. Yeah well it's like let's figure out. I want to keep playing with them. Let's think about funny versions of why he quit. I don't know if there's a funny. You know what if like. Maybe like. Is he joining your band? Maybe he put like laxatives and Bayless's drink and bailus already has like a Anxiety stomach and he does have anxiety stage He's like Chris when the last time you fired a band member been a while. I have never fired a band member That's not oh no, uh Andy Avila's brother. Yeah, Danny Avila. That's not Superman
Starting point is 00:19:04 They're doing different guys. That was during the same time. Okay. That's fine. It was earlier and then I fired Superman because he punched Matt Owen, the two, remember the tuba player I had? You weren't with me back then.
Starting point is 00:19:14 I met them like, I met you one time. Oh my God. In Ohio. This guy, Matt Owen, he was a tuba player. Not from Netherlands. No, from Nashville. Okay. But he was an army vet and
Starting point is 00:19:25 Superman just like this like skinny Mexican dude. Yeah. And he just like was ego'd out and just didn't like another low-end tuba player fucking playing over his shit and he fucking and this and Matt was fucking huge. I mean this probably probably killed some people in the army. Really? Oh, yeah, maybe I don't know what happened Did he beat his ass? he threw a fucking beer at Matt's head and Tried to lay one on him in West Virginia after the beer throw during our fucking set. That's a bitch while we're playing dude, like and we're playing some like fucking
Starting point is 00:20:01 Adult yeah, we're playing some like, you know like What do they call those a concert series oh that thing where it's like yeah yeah the weeklies Friday night yeah something else yeah at the fucking yeah city square concert and I saw this dude I saw Matt's face just turn red is he and he fucked and the problem then but Superman try to punch him and broke his wrist. So now he's in the hospital. Now he's in the hospital in West Virginia, Charleston, West Virginia.
Starting point is 00:20:31 They have hospitals in West Virginia? I mean, I was so mad at him. We all didn't go like, fuck you. Yeah. Like you could figure this out yourself. I don't know if I was at it or not, but it was fucked up Yeah, he and then he's just started having a temper tantrum and start calling everyone out and dude and then we had to fight
Starting point is 00:20:52 I'm like that was my best friend. That was like my closest friend in the band. Really? Yeah, dude Superman was my fucking guy. He weirded me out when I met him. Oh, yeah, I Mean, you know, so you're telling me the guy that wears the Superman Superman onesie everywhere it goes is mentally unstable You know, yeah, he's just a guy, you know, he had a hard past So in the Avila and his brother like basically moved him into the house, you know He was living with the Avila's like it was a fucking so I have sympathy for him But like you also also gotta be a pro. It's not just a fucking party.
Starting point is 00:21:28 And this is what I keep telling my fucking band. My fucking band. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, the Chris Myers thing. I think 22 years is a lot of time and a lot of energy and a lot of just everything. You could argue that he's just as important or whoever band members are just as important as spouses. Right, I mean, and you're basically married to people. I don't know, no one's told me anything. I mean, I'm kind of happy I'm not invested.
Starting point is 00:22:03 I don't think it's one thing. Cause it's not my business. I think time's just a bitch and time bitched. Yeah. Time's just a bit. God, that's a fucking. Nicholas, one year older, just the wiseness that's coming. One day older and the wiseness is just coming out. The time is a bit. I was thinking about calling my next record,
Starting point is 00:22:20 Time's a bitch. Our time comes for us all or something. It's gonna be really dark. Really dark. But you know, it's just sometimes things just had their place. Yeah, people get divorced too. Yeah, so you know, I wish Chris Myers the best of luck.
Starting point is 00:22:37 He's a fucking great drummer and he'll be fine. What if the Conclave, what if the Conclave, you know, this is like kinda conclavey cause they're all just like Catholic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. What if the Conclave, what know, this is like kind of Conclave-y because they're all just like Catholic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. What if the Conclave, what if they picked a Jewish guy? Do they have a Jewish guy in the band? No.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Joel's not Jewish? Fuck no. Is he? I don't know actually. Farig? What if the Conclave, what if like, what if? Farig's not half a Jew? Humphrey should do the white smoke thing
Starting point is 00:23:01 when they finally find a drummer. It's just- They already did. White smoke. Well, he's doing it till the New Year's or something, right? Why, someone, they announced it? They announced it, yeah. The white smoke thing when they finally find a drummer. It's just they already did white smoke Well, he's doing it till the New Year's or something right why someone they announced it they announced it. Yeah, what they announced it's weighing Scotty's way. Yeah Scotty's weighing is umphries from a squabby Wow. Yeah, I think he's Jewish Let me double check that just to make sure that Google he's Jewish Google if he's Jewish. Can you Google that?
Starting point is 00:23:29 Gonna make sure. Google he's Jewish. Google if he's Jewish. Can you Google that? Hold on. I'm just gonna make sure they announced it. I didn't know that. Yeah I don't know if he's... and then Dwayne Trucks is doing a few gigs too. That was last year brother. Yep. That was last year. Are you sure that... Yeah, he's playing. Right here. What? He'll be doing it. What? That guy looks Jewish. He's going to do the remainder of 2025 with them. Should we just call him? Sky's Wang? That fool doesn't really like me, but I like,
Starting point is 00:23:56 I like, I like, I like poking, I like poking buttons. Do you have his phone number? What is it? I don't know. I don't know if I have it actually. Scott? No, I don't have it. I don't have it. It's embarrassing for him. We don't have this one No, I mean, he's probably excited as fuck. That's good for him I just want to call him and ask him how much they're paying him damn
Starting point is 00:24:16 What a lucky fucking dude from dope a pie playing with him on the 30s to Sun Squabby Oh, I'm playing with him on the 30th. Oh, we should get some we should get some dirt What what we should ask fair man how he feels about it? Listen, I'm playing with him on the 30th. To Sun Squabby. Ooh, I'm playing with him on the 30th. Oh, we should get some dirt. We should ask Fairman how he feels about it. Listen, I'm playing with him on the 30th. Should I get in there? Should I scoop it out? Let's call Josh Fairman from Sun Squabby.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Let's see what happens. No way, he might answer if you call him. He's a bad dude. Josh. What's up? You're on the podcast, what's up? It's me too. Nick it.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Josh Fairman from Sun Squabby, everybody. How you doing? Woo! Yo! I gotta ask you man. We gotta ask you, how you feeling about Zwang joining Umphreys? Oh, I'm so proud of him. Are you a little pissed off that he's not your drummer anymore?
Starting point is 00:24:57 He is our drummer still. Oh, let's go. Okay, I didn't know. I thought he fucking, I thought he just bailed out. May 30th at Cervantes. They're doing a two-night run. So what happened when you got the news? Were you a little jealous? Give me some deets. No, I'm stoked. Scotty deserves a dope gig. He's been a sick drummer for a long time. And you know, Sweet Tho will finally make a living playing music.
Starting point is 00:25:27 Damn, Josh. Your band is fucking great, though. Oh, thanks, man. What are you doing right now? You sound like you're in the bathroom. I am. You are? That's awesome. Fucking epic. Hi, Josh. Ask him it. Ask him. Josh loves the Colt at you love the Colt
Starting point is 00:25:47 Continually running it just won't end Josh. Tell him how you love my band. Oh I do I love the Colt The organ players left hand One of his limbs is better than my entire life. What on? Fucking throw Josh a bone? Put him in your fucking bag. I'm gonna have him probably record the next album. That's what he needs right now.
Starting point is 00:26:09 He needs another project. I'm gonna try to forget the album and just like weasel my way into a tune or two. Yeah, that's what's gonna happen. That'll definitely happen. I already have an idea for that. If it's one thing Josh Farron needs is another fucking project. Yeah, you need more shit to do. That's my main thing is just, I just,
Starting point is 00:26:25 I need a gig, you know? Besides all the other gigs and all the other things. Besides all 12 gigs. You know what? Girlfriend and all. How's the band doing? I haven't talked to you in a while. The band's doing all right.
Starting point is 00:26:35 We got a new album dropping, I think either this week, I think this week, maybe this Friday, we're dropping a new record. Yeah. That's awesome. So last Friday. And it features Umphrey's drummers, Scotty. Oh, Josh, I love you.
Starting point is 00:26:51 Josh, tell them about your Cervantes show. Oh, yeah, Cervantes. End of the month, we're playing the 30th and 31st. There we go. Bunch of awesome bands playing with us. I'll be there. It's gonna be sick to independent different sets and keeping a jammy. All right. It's gonna be cool. Probably a bunch of these new tunes. Question. Are you in love yet? Josh, are you in love? Do you have a girlfriend? Are you running a few? Yes, I'm in love. I have a girlfriend. You do? Yeah. What's her name?
Starting point is 00:27:19 Who doesn't want to? Her name is Blair. She can hear you. Hey, Blair. How you doing? She's cool as hell. Hi. Hey Blair, how you doing? She's super nice. I'm so happy for you. Look at you, you're happy, you're content. How's the studio going? She's a great dog. I wouldn't go that far, but I'm doing pretty good.
Starting point is 00:27:33 What are you not content about? Let's get into it. He's Jewish. Dude. What happened? Oh nothing, I'm just fucking around. I could always use a little little more gigs a little more money Well, I'm here to tell you're a fucking king and you are the fucking man
Starting point is 00:27:50 You're the one of the best producers in fucking Denver. You probably aren't like number one producer. He's up there. You're up there. Thanks man Producer recording engineer so if you guys you know everyone Denver a lot Denver musicians listen this go have Josh produce your record He's pretty affordable. I'm working at a couple different studios. I got the home studio. We got Colorado sound they got mighty fine. So He's really good and he's a role since scan. Hope closed. It's been nice to find a Couple places that feel more like home and make some sweet records. So yeah good. Yeah. Well, I was thinking about you I was like fuck Scottie. I'm like, oh I didn't he just told me that the news that Scottie was the drummer I'm like I have to call you right away. See how you feel cuz I know what's going on. What happened? No, I'm good. We're very happy for him. We're gonna try to work around their schedule and
Starting point is 00:28:41 You know, we might have to get a sub here and there but i'll do it there's a long list of badass drummers in yeah yeah you know i'm sure should work out great well let's go have a beer let's have a go beer something let's have a beer sometime and let's catch up not on camera um what are you doing tonight we're gonna go to Nick's trivia. Oh yeah, he's got trivia tonight. I don't know, I got a session at like four. You're too popular for us, I get it. No, just say no. You're too popular, too hot,
Starting point is 00:29:15 you're too fucking successful to fucking hang out with us. 8PM, 8PM at Yacht Club. Okay, and do you have to be there at eight or can you join at any time? Well Nick is like a Gestapo about about fucking trivia so if you want to come later afterwards let's have a cocktail. Yeah like I like my shit to run on time. Okay well maybe I'll see you there. Alright buddy. Text me. Well I love ya. Keep the dream alive and I'm thinking about you. You're the best and I was like
Starting point is 00:29:41 worried I was so worried about I thought he was another drummer left. I was like, I was so worried about it. I thought he was another drummer left. I was like, fuck dude. That's not until later on when he's like, dude, I don't know if I want to drive. I'm making so much money. The bus is pretty nice. Yeah. These songs are hard.
Starting point is 00:29:58 It's going great. I'm very proud of him. He deserves a dope gig. He's a badass drummer. Yo, text me his number. We're going to call him. All right, sounds good. All right, Josh. I love you, buddy. He's a badass drummer. Yo, text me his number. We're gonna call him. Alright, sounds good. Alright, Josh. I love you, buddy.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Alright, love you. Bye. Bye. I love Josh. I love Josh too. He's got that monotone voice. He was one of my first... Yeah, when we have a conversation, it's very funny. We're both just like, yeah, and yeah, I don't know. We're both very dry. He was kind of my first friend in Denver, I think. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:24 He took me in Wow mmm, how would I feel I Asked if my drummer left for a different being would I be jealous would I be proud? You know, I'm trying to like I think there's a lot of politics out of it like it's circumstantial because Okay, let's say he leaves me for like Taylor Swift. I'm totally fine with it. Yeah. But what about like a band?
Starting point is 00:30:48 Anything where he's increasing his income by like double, you can't be mad. What if he's leaving me for a band that's kind of on the same level? That'd be a little weird. But here's the thing, you could hire some new kid and pay him way less, so you'd be good. No, just like the personally.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Oh. Personal. How you approach that. Would you be mad? I don't know. no, probably not actually. It's business. I think about that too, it's business. I actually really wouldn't be mad. I kinda like change is good too sometimes.
Starting point is 00:31:13 Right. I love a beautiful change. I love change too. That's a problem with me with commitment is like I do love changing. It is fun to be a free agent. They're just like, just changing. Yeah, no, I get it. is fun changing to be a free agent. They're just like just changing. Yeah, I know. I get it.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Personality changing. Personalities. We associate with that. You know, sometimes I'm nice. Little Josh Fairman. I mean, I really want to call. I love Josh. We could just have him in here.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Oh, by the way, my new record's out. It's good. Let's go. My new. Oh, by the way, my new record's out. It's good Let's go My new read. Oh, here we go. I got Scottie's number go grab growing pains Thanks to everyone who's been listening to it. You guys are the best. It's really good. It sounds good I can't believe you it sounds fucking good. It's a really good mix. You can't believe I can't believe you That I was like telling you listen to it and you were getting mad at me. I was okay. Jesus I didn't realize I don't know. I didn't know if I'm not a liar. I know I thought you those good stuff about it and you were getting mad at me. I was like, okay, Jesus Christ. I didn't realize. I don't know. I didn't know if- I'm not a liar.
Starting point is 00:32:07 I know. I thought you were just kissing my ass. Why would I kiss your ass? For what? Because you never kiss my ass. But what would it get me? Nowhere. Exactly. You're my best friend. Yeah, I guess. But like, I'm not going to like, what are you going to like,
Starting point is 00:32:18 Venmo me 200 bucks for liking your album? No, but I just have PTSD of like, you're always just like, Ah, it're going somewhere Because I hate that song that was cuz I heard it every day on tour Remember I think I and you would sound check it with it every time. I just got Scottie's wigs number hit him up Let's just call him. He probably won't answer. He doesn't really fuck with me You on block baby,. Maybe he's. Yo, Scott.
Starting point is 00:32:46 He's probably practicing. It's Frasco. Call me. He's probably practicing for Umphrey's songs right now. That's such a hard gig. I hate, you know like, when people send text messages like, yo, call me.
Starting point is 00:33:01 I hate that. It's like. I hate that. It's like, are you pregnant or? No, I hate that shit. Yo, Scott, it's like, it's like, are you pregnant or? No, I hate that shit. You better be the IRS. Good old Scottie's Wang. He's got the gig.
Starting point is 00:33:12 He's going to Hollywood to be in the Umphreys McGee full time until the end of the year for now. All right. How's it going? New album's out. We're stoked on it. Everything is gravy new I'm really excited about the response. We've been getting we had we had 7,000 pre saves damn is that a lot fucking big?
Starting point is 00:33:35 I don't know what a lot of the pre saves for the it's pretty fun. It's the biggest I've ever done. I did You know like I felt like I was being a dead horse, you know? You got it. Why do you have to, why do we have to promote records for five months? This is driving me fucking nuts. I don't fucking get it. I don't think, I think that, never mind, I'm not gonna say it. What? Say it. I think that like managers create these things so they have more work to do. I don't, I don't think, you know what I'm talking about? Yeah. like you created the algorithm and then you're
Starting point is 00:34:07 like bitching about I don't know I then you see some people just throw shit out there and it does well you're right I don't know I think the most important thing is just have a good record that people like that they're gonna show it other people and also I think people want you know it's like we're not Kanye or not fucking I get that Morgan Whalen where you just like oh I'm gonna release it today You kind of have to like build buzz around it But like if you build too much buzz around something it looks a little corny. It's like, what do you target?
Starting point is 00:34:35 Trying to sound like or like I don't know. It's like at some point. It's like is this a bad record Why are you trying to get me to listen to this so bad? That's why you know I'm saying you smelling my fucking head. headphone, because my ear still smells like a dog. Scum, man. You know, and that's why I got to give props to my fucking team over a regime, because they made it not feel too corny. Yeah, I will give you that.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Thank you, boys and girls. It does get corny, though. It gets corny, dude. To balance that out, though, there is a million fucking people also promoting their shit. So it's kind of like a lot of it's getting lost in the system. That's true. OK. So maybe it's not corny dude to balance that out though. There is a million fucking people also promoting their shit So it's kind of like a lot of it's getting lost in this. That's true. Okay, so maybe this is like a convincing I'm on their side with this Yeah, I mean you have to skim through the fat a lot of the time So maybe people aren't even seeing half the videos you put out about it, you know
Starting point is 00:35:18 That's why I'm like sometimes I get so fatigued like we got to post this fucking Festival promotion we got to post this fucking this side, you know the pre-save we got to post this fucking festival promotion. We got to post this fucking, this pre-save, we got to blob all this stuff. I'm like, we are fatiguing our fan base with all this stuff. And then I take a step back and realize there's so much other shit they're seeing as well. Like this is like, maybe they want to see this to kind of get a break from.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Love on the spectrum clips Oh my god, and I got you on that was right. You would love that show and I was right So a little straight. Oh my dude. I tell you what we're doing. It's a little stranger and I are Trying to get in on that. No, we're putting up we're throwing a festival in Ohio. We're about to announce it We found that we have oh, yeah, you know, I heard about this in Nelson Legends or no What do you think this name for the festival? Holy smokes. Yeah, works. Cool. But guess who we threw an offer at DJ Tai why? Oh my God, I'm going. I love him. He's my, do you follow him on Tik Tok? I'm obsessed with him. Do you follow his Tik Tok? Oh my God is the greatest pitch man on earth. It's like his autistic thing is being great at all He every single thing he does on this tick tock is an ad every single video is an ad But it like doesn't come off that way He is so good at promoting things
Starting point is 00:36:33 He also have you seen the videos of him introducing bands on stage at the strawberry festival he's obsessed with yes He is like fucking One of the best i've ever heard It's not i'm not like gas him up because he's on the show. He is literally fucking awesome at it. I'm trying to get him on the podcast. The guy needs to have a radio show like. No, I'm gonna get him on the podcast. I'm gonna get one of those guys
Starting point is 00:36:54 from Love on the Spectrum. Oh yeah, and he's just like always, hey everybody, it's DJ Taiwa. I mean, he's just so good, dude. I just flew out to Kansas City to go do a set. He's not that much different than you, in his career like promoting stuff and going places dude But we threw him an offer to be the late-night DJ He might go to betterly though
Starting point is 00:37:14 Then we'll give him the early DJ. I want him on that on that fast, dude You need to have him MC the stage. That's a great idea, too. He is so fucking there's a video of him introducing Reba McIntyre and it is I can't believe how good he is at it because he's not like self-involved so he doesn't do the thing that most MCs do where they kind of try to make it about them make make it about them he just gets up there and delivers it and it's like perfect and he's like I can't believe how good he is at it. Dude he's amazing. He knows the key to every song too. Oh I love that show. And then maybe he brings Madison with him, or what's his girlfriend?
Starting point is 00:37:46 Oh my God, them singing. She's the sweetest angel that's ever walked the face of the earth. I am obsessed with her. Like, right when I locked eyes on her on the TV show, I'm like, I can marry her. She always scrunches her nose. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:01 And then I love, my favorite. She's so sweet. And then I love Connor. I love Connor. The guy who's like, we try to get, I love his girlfriend. We tried to get him on the thing I love his girlfriend Georgie Georgie's amazing Regina or Georgie. She's so sweet and she loves him and she's like shy Yeah, I could talk about love on the spectrum for fucking hours. I think everyone can it's fascinating. Have you seen It's true. Love. I love how he talks dude. He just like talks like absolute true love. Is he texting back? No, he's
Starting point is 00:38:28 probably. He don't fuck with me. I don't think it's that he's probably it is like in the middle of the day. Remember when we had beef during COVID kind of that was like kind of before me. Oh yeah, that was right in the beginning. That wasn't everybody's giving me beef. He was like, what's that? I don't think we should like I think we should just give everyone a pass on COVID. All right.
Starting point is 00:38:46 There are me and you during COVID. Just let's just like forget about that. That doesn't count. Not Jay Lane. Okay, fine. That's fine. But like within reason, but like, let's just like, everybody was being lied to and we were, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:59 You're right. You know. But going back to love on the spectrum. True love. God, DJ Tywise. I would kill. Just like that type of love is what I'm looking for. You know. But going back to love on the spectrum. Dude. True love. God! DJ TyWise. I would kill.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Just like that type of love is what I'm looking for. This pure love where it's just completely honest. No one's faking shit. No one's lying about shit. Nothing. You know what I'm saying? They can't. I don't think they lie really.
Starting point is 00:39:17 I don't think it's like. I don't think they can lie. I don't know. I don't want to go that far. I'm not like a doctor of it, but they do seem like they just say what's on their mind. Yeah. And I do their mind. Yeah. And I do respect that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:27 I love DJ Ty Wai man. You gotta get him on there. I'm trying. Is that Nelson's Legends? Nelson's Legends. I might go to that. I gotta fly him into Cleveland. He would probably as a handler too, right?
Starting point is 00:39:39 I don't know. Probably. I don't know about handler is the right word, but he's not a tiger. No, but like he. You know, probably. I don't know about handler is the right word, but he's not a tiger. No, but like he. You know, like a someone. Like a tour manager. An attache.
Starting point is 00:39:50 Yeah, like a tour. Yeah, dang it, not a handler. He's not a fucking tiger. Siberian tiger. Yeah. Yeah, that's cool. I'm glad that you offered him and not me. That's great.
Starting point is 00:39:59 I'm just kidding. I'll do you too. We're just, we're just rounding. We just. I'm just kidding, dude. We just do the offers. I'm just kidding. He actually would sell a lot of take you might sell as much tickets No, I get to pick three bands cuz they got fucking we're getting gang banged by all the rappers on there
Starting point is 00:40:13 We could do a side thing. I'll do a side trivia Yeah, we're gonna do something. I'm for sure you're in for sure. What is it? You don't know it's September 28th and 29th of this year. You're getting it off that fast, dude It's gonna be fucking tight and we can't announce it. They have a lot of infrastructure there. I can't announce it till August They have a lot of infrastructure, you know, we're kind of talking about it now, but fuck it. Yeah people will forget after this pocket They have no clue what's going on We get any voicemails no nothing funny no, but some there is one voicemail one that said they like the Solo Nick pod and they were talking about how they liked your Rolex video really?
Starting point is 00:40:52 Let me find it. I got it to you. Remember? Yeah, let me go get it He likes like I was humble about getting a Rolex really. Yeah He liked your solo pod too. I was like he made a video of it. I You liked your solo pod too, huh? I was like, he made a video of it. They posted it. I know, I know. But I did accept the Coke collab, so it's on me too. They give you a discount for that?
Starting point is 00:41:14 Yeah. Okay, then it doesn't count. Yeah. They did give me a discount. I can't find it. Oh, here it is. It's kind of our fault we haven't been getting voicemails. We haven't been prompting. I like't find. Yeah. Oh here it is. It's kind of our fault. We haven't been getting voicemails. We haven't been prompting I like this one
Starting point is 00:41:26 Two things that I really liked from the past two weeks number one. I really enjoy Nick news update. Yeah do more than He's kind of like a more Empathetic Bob less that I don't know that is I'll tell you about him scribe to his I'll tell you about him. I tried to take his corner. And the second thing I really enjoyed was the real of Andy buying a Rolex. I could tell or it felt like he was very uncomfortable spending that much money on a watch. But it was also nice because you could tell
Starting point is 00:42:05 that he really deserved it. Oh. For that candy on the new watch. Oh. I have a question for you guys. If you do subscribe to the Bob Wested newsletter, what are your thoughts on him and his musings on the industry?
Starting point is 00:42:22 Oh, thanks. Thanks, brother. So, let me, so, who's this guy? Okay, so Bob Wested. I can't believe you know who someone is and I don't by the way. This is exciting. The tables have turned. Go for it. Okay so this guy is a music reviewer. He has this newsletter Schwartz got me into him. He basically has like 20,000 or 30,000 people on this newsletter and Schwartz like don't respond just don't cuz I sometimes don't start talking shit and I'll be like Yeah, I don't agree with all like on comments on it It's like you could reply back and in the newsletter in the newsletter and he'll get the email. Oh, okay But sometimes he's he's sniffing his ass a little too much But also he has a lot of great points about the music industry that I you know, I I
Starting point is 00:43:07 Agree on older guy older guy. What's his background? Like how do you what find out? How did he get this like why is he an authority? I think he's just a music industry Maybe I should start should I take his corner? Here we go American music critic Wikipedia. Here we go Oh god, this guy's an ugly ass motherfucker, dude. This guy looks like a thumb. Aren't we all? Okay, nevermind. Okay, Bobbitt, background.
Starting point is 00:43:32 More empathetic Bob Leftats. Leftats, grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut. Yeah, he is. So we're supposed to trust. He worked as, oh, he's an entertainment business attorney. Okay, so he's a lawyer. And he's the head of SYNC's room. Okay, so he's... okay.
Starting point is 00:43:50 Oh, that's why he helped me with Donald Passman. Okay, so... Donald Passman wrote the book, All You Need to Know About the Music Industry. And that was the first book I ever read when I was in sixth grade. And the only book, I think. Just kidding. Just look at that beautiful... Just look at that beautiful... Just look at that beautiful...
Starting point is 00:44:06 On those law books. On those encyclopedias. Woo! Okay, so he's like a lawyer business guy. That's why he has no empathy. Yeah, he just talks shit. He's never been on the road, he's never been a musician. I like him.
Starting point is 00:44:22 He said nice things about Billy Strings, I respected that. He said nice things about... So he'll I respected that. He said nice things about... So he'll say if he doesn't like someone's music. Oh yeah. Okay. Okay. Yeah, he's not like kissing everyone's ass, but he did really say some nice things about Billy Strings. And I fucking love that because he was spot on about that because Billy is a fucking great guy. Who's he hate? Like anybody you can remember off the top of your head?
Starting point is 00:44:41 Red Hot Chili Peppers? you can look remember off the top of your head red hot chili peppers like he had some beef he has a lot of beef with like the new sign bands and like he has beef with like people who overcharge for uh for concert tickets which is live nation though you gotta i know but like you know everyone picks the right oh yeah that's true there's i mean yeah you're right new sign bands what do you mean by that it like the new manufacturer bullshit? That's coming out like Benson Boone or something Yeah, I hate Benson Boone. You do yeah, that guy annoys the shit out of me. Well. I don't know I'm enough He's trying to be Freddie Mercury, but he's not he doesn't have the vibe or the culture voice But does he he's 24 years old who has vibe at 24 a lot of people who? Prince Does he? He's 24 years old. Who has vibe at 24? A lot of people. Who? Prince.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Oh, word. Michael Jackson, even Taylor Swift. You know, like, is in vibes, but that's a good- I think he's corny. I think he's just like a TikTok guy and he kind of blew up too fast and the backflip shit is pissing me off and wearing the jumpsuit and he fake played piano at-
