00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, it's J.O. from Laugh With Me, the podcast. Why would you choose Laugh with Me? Well, great question. Maybe you like comedy. Maybe you like sports. Or maybe you just want to hear from a podcast host
00:14 who has survived bad bosses, angry customers, questionable career decisions, and a pepper spray attack? Yeah, that's right. Other podcasts I've hosts with broadcasting degrees, laugh with me as a survivor. Listen to Laugh with me,
00:27 a podcast with Jeremy Odom, on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I had just seen Ice Tea guest at the Apollo at the Snoop Dog concert, and I told him that, and he sort of looked me up and down and went, huh. Hi, I'm Lisa Trager.
00:46 And I'm Kara Klink. And together, we host That's Messed Up, a podcast where we recap Law & Order SVU, dig into the actual crimes and interview actors from the episode. Like former SVU guest star Bradley Whitford. Often I would meet people who would assume that there was something sort of Ted Bundy about me because of these sort of characters that I play.
01:07 And we're celebrating our 300th episode in style with the one, the only, John Stamos. There's nobody better to play this character. I'm like, what is this? He's a reproductive abuser and he tries to impregnate as many women. I'm like, really? I'm the guy like that? Okay, fine. Get the story behind the rip from the headline story on That's Mess Up.
01:26 New episodes drop every Tuesday. Listen to That's messed up on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Dun-d-d-d-dun! Every case has a story. Every victim has a voice, but will it be heard? I'm Nancy Grace on Crime Stories. 01:58 Apple Podcasts or wherever you find your podcasts. Hope you join us. I'll see you there, friend. In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author, Patra Mathers and her husband Michael mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know they had died by suicide. Dear honies, this is goodbye. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead.

03:29 How do you been? I'm good. I'm good. Enjoying life, of course, and that Bachelor Nation cruise is getting closer and close. sir. I cannot wait. I need a tan. I never thought I'd say that. Oh my God, with number 100 sunscreens. You know what? Skin cancer is a thing. You're exactly right. You're exactly right. Well, we love each other. We both having great lives here. God knows. But we have a special guest this week that I really want to get to. This week we are talking to Golden Bachelor alum and First Impression Rose,
04:06 recipient. Jerry, welcome to the pod, Jerry. How are you? I am awesome. I am so good. And I think what makes this so special is Wednesday's my birthday, so I'm ready to celebrate. How old are you going to be? Do I really want to say ladies? Age is a number, but forget it. You don't need to. Let's just say this, Jerry, you're not 69. So with that, I feel 69, but I'm not. Well, I have my 60s. Happy birthday. Happy birthday. Happy, happy birthday.
04:42 Let's start first things first. Are you dating, like, since the show, what has your life been like? First of all, my life has changed tremendously since the show. I'm not surprised. And I think the biggest thing, I know everyone, are you dating, Jerry, are you dating? And I have to say, no, I am not dating. Okay. Tell us why. Yeah, by choice, why? No, I would say it's by choice. I mean, just, I haven't really been approaching. No one's approached me.
05:15 Do you know anybody, ladies? So wait, do you remember everybody asked us and we were going to ask you what we're not? Oh, your DMs, I don't think men are age, don't even how to DM a person. I think women on the men's season, they get, you know what I mean? Yes. Now, now, the men on the woman season, women know how to do this stuff. So that is probably part of it. Right.
05:41 Right. Right. So are you on dating sites or anything like that? I'm really not. I mean, being a CEO and I, if I read my email, I've had a great day. Tell us what you do, what your day looks like that you're, tell us what you do. 2026, what are you up to? Yeah.
06:02 Okay, well, I am the CEO and owner of Comfort Home Care. I provide care to my senior saints in their own, non-skilled, family-owned. So when I make a decision, I don't have to go to the corporate ladder. I am the corporate and I can say we can do this. And I love that. I love, love that. And my day starts at 4.30 in the morning and I go to about 8, 9 o'clock at night. You know, I help you have time to date.
06:31 Well, Susan, don't go crazy. If someone came kind of my way, I probably would be like, okay. I'd make time. I have that person cover that shift. Oh, yeah, yeah. I would, as the owner, I do have about 14 people that are phenomenal underneath. So they can handle that while I go on a nice little date or two or three. So, Jerry, tell me if you said you're not dating and it sounds like your life is incredibly busy.
07:00 so it would be tough to carve out enough time. But having done the show, is there, or your birthday's coming, tell me how it's different. How would you date differently? What would your intention be? Are you looking for a different kind of guy? If you found that guy, what would he be like? I mean, basically, I am definitely looking for someone who loves life. I know that sounds so cliche.
07:29 It's not. I say it. I get it. I mean, you know, love life, energy. I'm not going to take care of your love bug, even though I'm in our... That's what you do for a living, but... I'm not taking care of you. Do you think that is a concern at our age? People... I think so. Yeah. But I will say this, though, Susan. You sometimes, like you said, age is a number. Yes. Sometimes you date someone a little younger and they may have an MI and you end up taking care of him. You don't want that. You don't know.
08:04 Yes. You don't know. I have to say though, Jerry, I read something where you know everything is true on the internet. But this actually was very funny. It was talking about dating sites and it said that a profile that says, I love life. I have energy. I'm looking for someone. no baggage.
08:28 Like, who wants a deadbeat? Think of the opposite. Like, we all want people with energy. We all want adventure. We all want love. We all want romance. So, you know, is there any... That's somebody that didn't know what to write.
08:44 Well, yeah, maybe. Yeah, but you can tell. Can't you? I mean, you two date. You've been... For me, I really look at the person, per se. Like, you know, I see what's not. paper but you know I need to see you I need to lay eyes on you and it's interesting
09:02 because everything is hybrid today okay we can do things over the Zoom we can do this and I'm getting ready to interview a new employee and I said you're coming in the office I feel something you feel their energy or not you know their chemistry yes dress yes I want to know you know are you matching your body position Are you late? Yeah. Which is a pet peeve of mine, I have to say honestly.
09:32 So can we go on to the girls' trips and the friends that you made on your season? Let's talk about the wine trip, if you will. Oh, the wine trip was phenomenal. It's always been one of my bucket lists to go to Napa. Always, always, always. But the style that I went to Napa in was unbelievable. Can you see me on a horseback? Please tell me more.
09:59 I was out of horseback. Listen, I only, if anyone knows me, they know I'm a Prosecco. I love Lamarca Praseco. That's all I drink. I'm not drinking anything else, okay? Okay. 60 plus, I know what I like, what I like, what I like. Let me tell you.
10:14 In that book, we went, it's 9 o'clock. 9 o'clock. And they're like, oh, dear, you've got to try this. You've got to try this Savian Blanc. I'm like, it's not champagne. Try it. Love it. So now my breakfast wine is Sabian Blanc for breakfast.
10:32 And that's what I have. Just a little chilled. Mm-hmm. Oh, it was delicious. It's like perfect, right? Oh, it was delicious. And then I did the reds, which I love now. Really?
10:44 See? You see, there's a whole new world open for you. Tell me about the women that went on this trip. Oh, the women were phenomenal. I mean, I went with my roommates. My roommates were Carol. Amy and Robin. Robin is the one you want to follow because she knows wine.
11:01 Oh, she knows wine like I know Prosecco and lipstick. Okay, ladies. He knows wine. She really, I mean, she is, she is the contessor. Well, she owns a vineyard, yeah. That is true. A five acre vineyard that looks like, okay, God, now I have died gone to heaven pretty much when I walk in there. And she's full of knowledge that will be.
11:24 I mean, I love to drink. and lemons in the morning. That's kind of my thing. That's what I do. I was able to pick my lemon from her tree. Come on. California, there's nothing like it. It was just, and when I say she had it laid out every second.
11:41 Yes. Every second. And, you know, she has invited us several times and we're always there doing something. We never have, we got to do an extra day just to spend it with you really need to do an extra day. And of course her little cat's name is Bubbles. So you know he mean Bubbles Bond. That was just nothing like me in Bubbles. But I'm telling you, it was just, it was magical.
12:03 It was un- Would you say that Amy and them are your closest people that you stuck with from the show? Do you have any? Well, Cindy, I know. I'm sorry. How did I forget Cindy? That's got a little mascot.
12:16 Cindy's our Kappa girl, our Kappa sister. Cindy's there. Cindy was there. Good. And she's phenomenal. And it was just the bottom. that we have in our prayer. And it was just girls.
12:28 That's beautiful. Don't you love? Aren't we blessed to have come out with such good, dear friends? Most people aren't as lucky in their 60s to become so tight and friendship and trusting with another woman that you don't get that that often. You don't get it. You know, I feel you don't get it at all. And for me, because I've had so much going on in my life, as you both can tell, I've just
12:51 had so much that God said, you know what? You've been so obedient, Jerry. We're going to send you some really good friends. And they're not going to show you that you drink for second at 7 o'clock in the morning, okay? They're not judging you. So I want to know, Jerry, all those, so recently, and by the way, I'm sorry you weren't there. Recently, I was in California a few weeks ago for a walk for suicide prevention awareness. And I got to know Carol.
13:22 She came. and Andra and Amy. And they are lovely people. I wish you had come. It was opened up. Everybody from your season, I believe. But you're not in California. Where are you?
13:36 I am in Rockville, Maryland. I'm a Joan. She's Joan. So you're your Joan. So anyway, would have loved to have gotten to know you better. My question for you is, how is the relationship different with your group from the room that you shared to now being a nap with them.
13:56 How are they different? How is the relationship grown? Oh, the relationship is so close. To the point that it's not superficial. We can cry. We can say, you know, I'm sad or I'm angry. Or my daughter, can you believe my daughter did X, Y, and Z? Get the nerve, I did this and she asked me that.
14:19 That's a friendship. It's a it's a it's a sisterhood. It's a sisterhood. I love that. And I did have that. I did not have that in my 20s. And I used to think life, you only get that friendship in your 20s and college and all that. Not true.

Like, she has so much evidence. These stories all start in the same place, with a woman failed by a system that didn't believe her that didn't protect her that didn't see her no child should ever experience that and we were babies she did all of these brave things and came out and spoke about it and he got a year you never know

People who devoted their lives to public service, who believe their work mattered, until they were told they no longer belonged. I'm Michael Lewis in my new audiobook, Blockers, Rebels in the Deep State, tells the story of these blockers. People who kept our most sensitive data secure, helped prevent wildfires,
17:37 made huge scientific discoveries, but got in the way of the Trump administration's agenda. What fascinated me wasn't politics. It was what happens when a society decides it no longer values the people doing the work it depends on. Get Blockers Now, only at blockers.fm. 18:09 But no one will find it. He acted friendly. He talked friendly. He sounded friendly. They all knew that I did the scary boogie stuff, and they said, maybe she'll find out where this girl is. I saw him violent. Backhanded a bow. And that's exactly what made us all think he had something to do with it.

19:24 You've got to be a lot open and not live in this box. And you've got to trust. when you've been through trauma like I have, you have got to know that there's a village and use that village. And when people say, can I help you, Jerry? Yes, you can.
19:42 I'm sad today. As beautiful and wonderful as my life is and my children, I'm sad. You have days. We all do. Yes. And to be able to confide in somebody that you call a friend,
19:54 even they're not going to tell you what to do, whether it's right or wrong, just listening. Exactly. Exactly. That's what you mean. It's so key. So did you guys, when you're all together, did you talk about your dating life? Oh, yeah. Please tell me some of these ladies are dating. I know for a fact, I know for a fact, Amy, there was a dinner the night, a couple nights before we actually did the walk. And I said next to Amy, she had me in stitches. She was talking about all of her boyfriends that she's going to fix me up with some great guy from Boca. shows me his picture. I haven't, I haven't heard from them yet, but that's a detail. But did you all talk about your dating life? Are they dating? Is everybody on your season dating? I talked to one of her bones or one of her online. She knows a lot of people. I got to call Amy.
20:44 You better call Amy. And oh, and Amy says, Jerry, you need a Jewish guy. Jerry, you know, Jewish guy. I'm like, whatever. Because she's Jewish, of course. Yes. I mean, she's like, you need it. I mean, she, it's like a, a mission. with her. And I'm sure she has no problem to tell. I mean, she is on it. She is on it. And you have to accept from her. Like, just like when we're talking when you're having a sad day, accepting help from a friend. What does that mean? What does that mean, guys? What does mean by accepting help? Yeah. That they're there to listen to you open up, get it out. That's how do you feel? And don't be ashamed. Yes. Don't be ashamed. Okay. Don't be. It's okay. It's always. It's always.
21:29 We're not AI, okay? We're not pro-I. Although I marry him, I ask him a lot of questions. Right. I use AI too, though. But, I mean, it's just, it's just so nice to be open. Yeah. You know, and especially in my position, it's lonely at the top of.
21:47 Who do I talk to? My team? Of course not. But can I call Carol and say, Carol, what's going on? What you're doing? Carol, you're drinking your Diet Coke. I told you about those Diet Coke. You love those Diet Coke.
22:00 Stop. You know, or Robin, I'm having a glass of wine, Jerry. You should be here. Just fun. Yeah. You know? And they bring your spirit gets lifted because you smile. When you just said each one of those names, the smile that came with it that the people can't see is priceless because they're near and dear to your heart.
22:19 And you would be there to help them. They know that. I would do anything for them. And they know that. Apparently, yes, drinking wine at 7 o'clock. in the morning. You'll do anything. We want to be invited on the next nap of trip. Oh, you've got to. It's so
22:34 much fun. Oh, no, wait. Jerry, did Carol talk to you about her pajama party? No. Was that not inviting? Well, I'm invited, so I'm guessing since you're her roommate, you are, and Susan, I said you had to come to. She's a, Carol, Carol gave us a ride to
22:52 one of the things, and yes, I hate to tell you, Jerry, her Diet Coke was sitting right up there in the front. I'm telling you. I'm telling you. We were talking about her dating life, and she was talking about Napa. And I was like, we're all the same here. I mean, it's just one story of where are they? Tell us about the pajama party.
23:13 Yeah, I don't know about that. Well, we're waiting. Carol, I hope you're listening. All she said was, we just had a great time together. And she goes, oh, my gosh, I'm having a pajama party. And you have to come. And I said, I have to bring Susan. And she said, oh, no, we'll all have so much fun.
23:29 And I said, and I said, who's coming? She meant some of your names. I said, oh, no, love all those people. Let's do it. It would be so fun. So I don't know what a pajama party entails. As long as I can wear pajamas, I'm good. We're wearing pajamas.
23:43 There's popcorn. There's probably Prosecco. I was going to say, wait a minute. We need Perseco instead of the popcorn. But she's going to do it. She's going to do it. She's going to do it. She's going to do it.
23:56 She's funny. She was talking about how, how difficult it is to, you know, to date. I mean, like I said, we all have the same conversations.
24:06 It just goes on. Okay, I want to know, Jerry, if, because, you know, I get bachelor in paradise. I did it last year,
24:13 and it was so much fun. If they called you, um, and decided to do paradise, uh, would you go? If you got that call, would you go?
24:24 You know, I'd be very, transparent. When I got on the show, I didn't know much about the Golden Bachelor. I didn't know. I'm telling you. Ignorance was bliss. And I had a blast. Yes, yes. I mean, really. And I think, honestly, I don't know much about Paradise. But yeah, hell yeah. It's an experience, right? Jerry, Paradise was, and I've said this before, for me, was so much more fun than being on the Golden Bachelor. It was, for me, it was more relaxed. I loved being with the young kids. I felt like I had a purpose there. We chatted. I felt like I helped them. The weather was great. I mean, it was, to me, it was just a fabulous experience. It was a different
25:10 season, though, Kathy. That was the first time they brought Goldens. To be honest, they didn't have enough men. Right. Now, Jerry, if, is there anybody in Bachelor Nation that you would think, if he's going, I'm going. Do you have anybody? No. Okay. And what if they brought some younger men? That would work too, right? Yeah. I mean, I'm openly. Okay, Jerry, how young. Never this. I'm open. I'm over that. I'm so, listen, I am over the expression. Age is just a number. I'm over the expression. I'm open. Give me the deeds right now. What are we talking about? Well, I will tell you, I have a 24-year-old son. Okay. So he's, we won't go there. That's not going to, that's not going to sit well. Okay. You know, 25? How about 25? 10 year difference? How about 25? 25 years? 25 years old. I mean, my girls, my daughters are gorgeous. So they need to know if it's 25 years younger.
26:11 They need to know this is what you get. That little scar below is not a birth of mine. Okay, hold on. Please stop the presses. What I meant was you said you had a 24-year-old son. My question is, was, so, would you date a guy 25 years old? No. Now I'm going to ask, what is your age range? How old will you go and how young will you go? Relatively speaking. I would say I would probably go probably maybe 40, 35, 40?
26:42 Wow. You would do, you're 60 at least, so 20 years. Yeah. Wait, I'm sorry. I need to go get some vodka out of the kitchen. you would date. Kathy, you know, it depends on the chemistry and what. Yeah, I mean, that's a really question.
27:01 I mean, he would, I would say at least 40, 50, at least. Okay. Okay. I'm here to tell you this is why I'm single. I would never date a 40-year-old or a 50-year-old. 60 would be, and I'll tell you why, Jerry, and I'm curious. It doesn't matter why for me. I'm going to ask you.
27:21 your experiences are so vastly different at your age and I don't care how old you are but you said you're over 60 so let's say you're 62 what do you have in common with a 35 year old man she said 40 okay I'm not talking with what he could be established but he'd have to be really together okay he can't be no I'm not taking care of you not watching you're not gaming all day long you don't want to teach him anything either i'm not teaching anybody well but i don't know i might i love you um here's when it comes down to that we have to why is it always about sex Jerry get did I say anything no I know Susan as get the blame always get your mind of the gutter too no jerry no jerry
28:21 My question is, and I'm being serious, you are a successful CEO. A 40-year-old, yes, there are men at 40 who are, I have a 41-year-old son. He has a great job, a great income, but he is building his career. He is young kids. A 40-year-old man, if he's never been married, if he's got young kids, like your life experiences would be so different. So give me some commonalities where it could work because maybe I'm thinking the wrong way. Convince me I should date a 40 or 50 year old. Okay.
29:00 Putting it that way, Susan, I would say 50. I'm Kathy. Kathy. Kathy, I'm sorry. We answered the both. I know. I know. People do that with me all the time with Carol, if you can imagine.
29:11 But if you can imagine that. I would like you two in a room together. Oh. Which for the first time in my life. not even speak. I would just laugh the whole time. Carol is. All right. So, Jerry, come on, convince me. Okay, okay. So I would say 50. Oh, good.
29:28 Good. Okay. Now we've moved up a little. Now we're getting somewhere. Okay, ladies, don't forget. I've lived a sheltered, not dating life, if you will, okay? This is all new. So can I explain, I want to explain something about Paradise since you're not that familiar? I'm not doing it all. You've dated with a group of women dating one guy. In Paradise, you kind of pair off.
29:52 So it's a one-on-one. It's not like you're all sharing one date. Would that be more appealing to you? Well, and also they mix. They mix sometimes. So somebody might start. You might start dating one guy, and then they bring in five new guys.
30:08 And you're like, oh, I like this new guy better. So it's not, everyone is not chasing one guy. People couple off, but then some couples break up. Then they're bringing some new guys. So it's much more fluid. How does that appeal to you? And what's the age? Now I'm getting, what's the age?
30:25 Well, I mean, if they did it, they'd have to be appropriate. Age appropriate. I mean, they would bring in guys in your case, 25 years old and above. No. No. I'm joking. I'm saying, you know, 50, 60, whatever the ages are, I'm curious how you would feel about fluidly moving through a dating scenario where it's not 23 women going after one guy.
30:54 So I would be going like four or five different men. You could. You pick the one you want and that he wants you. You find the one you want, yes. So can I officially say, Jerry, you are not done trying to find love on television. I'm not that. Okay. I love it.
31:14 I love it. My hope for you, Jerry, is that you can cut down. your work hours, not be up at 4.30 and not work till 9 at night because the dating window with that kind of work schedule, you know, you need Superman. I mean, you know. Well, you know, you know what, Kathy, let me explain something. And that's the other thing. And it may be kind of busy stuff that I do because there's just nothing else to do. Yeah. Now, if I, and one thing about me, if I decide, you know what, I'm ready to date. I'm ready to date. I'm not. you put your mind to it i can cut that 430 i can still do my 4 30 because it's my prayer time and sunrise
31:54 all that good great stuff but being the owner i can do a lunch here i could do a winery here i could meet somebody at 730 i mean i could put amy to shame if i need to oh i don't know about that man that woman exhausted me man she gets i want her energy really i'm going to make one suggestion if i can though. And Susan, I say this on her podcast. You are a lovely human being and you're beautiful and you're smart and you're talented and some man would be so lucky to have you. But I think, not but, and I think you have to put yourself out there. You have to go to a wine tasting. You have to get out and do some activity where there are single men to give yourself a chance because they're not going to come knocking on your door. That's the only thing I would say. You're lovely.
32:46 person. Honestly, and I tell my trod that all the time. Happiness is not going to knock, knock, knock, knock. There's happiness. There it is. You got to go far. And for me, I know that. I know that. But you are happy right now. You are content with what you're doing.
33:02 I'm content with what I'm doing right this minute. But God doesn't want me to have a content life. That's right. That's not what he put me here for. So this is just a little baby season right now. Right. now. And then we came along and start that energy up again. With that being said, Jerry, we're going

34:05 I'm bringing you new stories and conversations every week. Stories about women whose deaths were too quickly ruled a suicide. She was starting to get worried and get scared for her safety. Stories of survival. The only difference between me and her, frankly, was a little bit of luck, because by all rights, I should be dead. Cases that everyone else called closed. They can't convict her, right? Like, she has so much evidence.
34:36 These stories all start in the same place, with a woman failed by a system that didn't believe her, that didn't protect her, that didn't see her. No child should ever experience that. And we were babies. She did all of these brave things and came out and spoke about it. it and he got a year. You never know who that devil is because he's wearing in disguise. Sometimes it's a police uniform. Listen to what happened to her on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

35:17 And we talk about pretty much everything under the sun. For example, music we're listening to, under the sun. underground music, trending music, drama in music worlds. Yes, sometimes we even talk about just everyday mundane situations in our lives, like the cool Uber driver we just had. Or the food we just say that is surprisingly delicious. Or we'll talk about the Med Gala and the looks that they wore. Are they awesome? Are they trendy?
35:42 Come find out. Because our opinion matters. And so does yours. And this is a place where all of our minds can come together and connect. So what are you waiting for? come connect with us. In Washington, it became the worst thing you could be. And I found six of them.
36:06 People who devoted their lives to public service, who believe their work mattered, until they were told they no longer belonged. I'm Michael Lewis in my new audiobook, Blockers, Rebels in the Deep State, tells the story of these blockers. People who kept our most sensitive data secure, helped prevent wildfires, made huge scientific discoveries, but got in the way of the Trump administration's agenda. What fascinated me wasn't politics. It was what happens when a society decides it no longer values the people doing the work it depends on. Get Blockers now, only at blockers.fm.
36:46 If anyone wanted to commit a murder, up here would be the greatest place in the world to hide the body. But someone will find it. He acted friendly. He talked friendly. He sounded friendly. They all knew that I did the scary boogie stuff, and they said, maybe she'll find out where this girl is. I saw him violent. Backhanded her,
37:15 bow! And that's exactly what made us all think he had something to do with it. The clock is ticking down in the woods. They're calling. 37:57 Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. We try to give our expert advice, okay, people right in, and we're going to ask you to help us out today. Is that okay with you? Okay. Now, the first one is from Brittany, and she's from Scottsdale. And she says, my boyfriend is obsessed with his phone. If we're watching TV, he's scrolling. If we're at dinner, it's on the table.
38:33 He even brings it into the bathroom. I finally asked why can't he put them for one dinner, and he acted like I was asking him to throw it in the ocean. I don't think he's cheating. I just feel like I'm constantly competing with TikTok. How do I say something without sounding like his mom? So there's no age on that, right? No.
39:00 Hmm. Why can't you do something fun with that phone and put it in her something to have phone? And you talk about my mind. Well, I'm just thinking, you know, because obviously, and I get it with the phone. I mean, I'm pretty bad. But wait a minute. I hate to say this. Is she not interesting enough that he can't put it down?
39:22 I mean, at dinner, somebody takes it to the bathroom. That's a good time to take it. He's not taking up your time, I say. Let him scroll while he poops. Who cares? Right. Right. Or, oh, hold on.
39:34 Or maybe. he's in the bathroom with his phone, texting the girl. Oh. Possible guys. I'm with you. I mean, I'm not competing with a phone. He's scrolling. He's scrolling.
39:49 He's scrolling. He's seeing what's happening. Can I just say, my girlfriend here, she scrolls. She knows everything that's going on. I don't go to on for out of the hell long and I missed everything. I'm hardly on the phone. Are you, anyway, neither are there. What?
40:03 And this generation, too. and this year, I should say. More people are on that phone. When I go to dinner, I try to make it a point not to use the phone, especially on a date, right? Would you keep your phone out on the date unless you had an emergency coming in? I would put it down. I would put it face down.
40:28 But it's on the table. It's on the table because, you know, I never know. But you know what? I'm going to try to get in the habit of not because you know what, it's really rude. It is. It's rude. I go to restaurants and see couples
40:43 and they're both on their phone. They're not communicating. They're not talking. Are you that bored with one another? You can't have a conversation. Are you that bored with me? Yes. That's what we're going to tell Brittany.
40:54 But back to Brittany, I honestly believe if they're sitting on the sofa, I'm with you, Jerry. If they're not chatting, Either there's something wrong in their relationship. It's one thing, ladies, to check your phone or I've got a business text I have to answer. But if somebody's just scrolling on TikTok or on Instagram. If you're sitting next to me, Kathy, and we're watching TV.
41:20 I'm not dating you, Susan. If I am dating. I'm assuming they're married and living together. You're right. You're right. They're dating. He's bored. He's bored.
41:30 And if he's taking the phone to the bathroom, that is behavior that in my mind suggests something else is going on. I think, I think, Brittany, if he's on the phone that much, he may just not be quite as interested in you as you think he is. And as far as sounding like his mom, I mean, who cares? So I would have the conversation with him that you feel that he's not giving you enough attention and maybe start by planning activities like in the water where he can't take his phone and see if you can cut sometimes guys it's just habitual.
42:20 It's a habit. So see if you can get him to break the habit. And I wouldn't write him off yet, but I certainly would have the conversation with him. Or like Jerry, you said, am I not that interesting? I mean, are you bored? Because if you are, we can move on. I can move on. Okay, not you.
42:36 I can move on. Right, exactly. I can move on. We have another one. We have another one. And this one is from Aaron from New York City. She says, I recently went on three really good dates with a guy. And then he told me he, quote, wasn't ready for anything serious, unquote.
42:55 Fine. I wished him well and moved on. Two weeks later, I saw him on Instagram with another woman, and the caption basically made it sound like they're together. And now I'm wondering, when someone says they're not ready for a relationship, should we all just mentally add with you to the end of the sentence? What do you think? Because this is so easy, this question is so easy.
43:21 What do you think, Jerry? Okay, I think, okay, you're just, not ready for with me or you i mean you're not ready okay fine bye that's me me too it's basically a nice way of selling somebody you're not the one you're not that into it that as the movie goes he's just not into you yes and the other piece ladies i mean we're 60 plus when men want you they want you okay you know you know yeah and i mean she probably felt a little she saw him online with another girl and obviously that was a relationship because he met
43:59 somebody that he did want to have a relationship with. Nope. Nope. You guys are making the mistake that I think so many people make about the internet. When you see something on the internet, you guys just assumed as I think did Aaron
44:15 while reading what she's saying. Wait, hold on. I saw what she writes is two weeks later I saw him on Instagram with a another woman and the caption basically made it sound like they're together. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. People oftentimes on social media paint the picture of the lives they'd like to have or not the lives they have or they paint a moment in time. This just may be another girl
44:49 he had a date with. He may be a serial dater. What you can assume from this, Aaron, is he's just not that into you. That's exactly the point. But it's not to say that he's in a relationship with this other girl. I don't know what the caption said for her to assume that he was, but that could have been her insecurity as well, thinking that it was. But she saw something. But the bottom line, all three of us agree, you just weren't the one he was wanted to get into a relationship.
45:19 She's a little hurt. And Jerry, I agree with you what you said. It's like, you're done. Like move on. There's another fish in the sea. Don't. Okay, great. It wasn't him.
45:32 Who wants to spend a year with a guy? Oh, no. Leading a double life or, you know, you get married and you cheat. I mean, this is the thing about these. And I'm assuming she's young. Three really good dates. What's the definition of three really good dates? That's the other.
45:51 Because she had fun because she liked him. That's why. It doesn't matter what they were doing. That's all I read. He paid for the dates. How's that for a really good day? But with that being said, all you listeners out there, you know you can submit your burning questions to us
46:04 by just going to bachelornation.com slash golden hour. And keep checking back each week to see if it's you and your question that we're talking about. Now we're going to have some fun, Jerry. Oh, no. You're going to love this. All I want to say, though, is I want you all to write in because all three of us kind of had different opinions.
46:25 the same opinion. We want to know what you think. So please do write in. We'd love to hear from you. Okay. We are moving on to the red flag hotline, which is exactly what it is. But Jerry, this time, we have some relationship advice that we want you to answer, but you only have 15 seconds to do it. So you've got to think what comes to mind. First thing comes to your mind. All right. So here's the first one. He says he doesn't believe in labels, but we've been dating six months. How long? do I let this go on? Cut them loose. I love you.
47:00 Great. He texts me every single day, but never actually makes plans. Is he interested or just bored? Bored. It's a habit. He says his ex is crazy. Is that automatically a red flag? Yeah.
47:15 Oh, disagree on that. Okay. He still follows and likes all of his ex thirst traps. Am I allowed to be? be annoyed. Yeah. What do you do? Hell yeah. Amen. Okay. He only wants to hang out after 10 p.m. Is this a situation? Is this a situation ship or am I just refusing to admit I'm a booty call? You're a booty call, sweetheart. Definitely. And not that good because honestly, he'd watch in the morning, okay? He introduced me as his friend after we've been dating for four months. Do I confront him?
47:55 Yeah, I don't know. Four months, Jerry. If a guy is dating me for four months and I'm not his girlfriend, his ass is sitting on the curb the next year. Well, yeah. We're still on the, as a kid's called the friend zone. But a friend zone means you're not dating. They didn't say this is my good friend, you know. Yeah.
48:19 I don't want to be his good friend. Go ahead, Kat. He's, oh, God. He says he's a bad texter, but he's constantly. on his phone when we're together. Am I being played? Yes. Uh-huh. Yes, you are. He's perfect in...
48:35 He is perfect in person, but basically disappears between dates. Is that enough of a reason to walk away? Yes. Yes. I swear to God. Why? Wait, he basically disappears. In other words, he don't touch base between dates.
48:52 Is that what she's saying? Yeah, right? I'm with you, Jerry. Okay. just making sure I get in this right go ahead walk away actually I disagree do not walk run
49:04 right right right okay he told me he deleted the dating apps but my friend just saw his profile do I can fund him or investigate first wait before you answer that I have deleted myself on dating apps and your profile's still up
49:21 your profile's still up you have to investigate you got investigate give him give him a little grace Not much. Not much. Yeah. Okay, Jerry. He says he wants to, and I quote, see where things go, unquote.
49:36 It's been five months. Where exactly are we going? Out of the door. I want to see where things go. You got the cow, the milk, and the beef, really? I can tell you where things are going. You're going out the door and I'm staying in the house. Bye-bye.
49:55 So not that we have talked. for this, but there's quite a few of them because I'm so weird that I don't know if I would have answered the same. You two are in Cahoo's boy. You two are boom, boom, boom, boom. And I was like, oh. Okay, well, that's you Susan. You, we can't go there.
50:11 We don't have enough time. It's a whole other podcast. No, but wait, I would just, I get to pick out one because I said so. Okay. He says his ex is crazy. Is that automatically a red flag? Jerry, you jumped in and said yes. I want to know why. Why? Because
50:27 I just feel like, why are you badgering her? What is she, you know what I'm saying? Why you're bringing her up? Yeah, like, I don't care if she's crazy. But maybe he was asked. See, I always look at the, you guys are black and white and I live in that big gray area. No, I disagree. No, yeah, Susan, listen, Susan wouldn't know anything black or white if it hit her in the head.
50:49 Although I wear it. Me and Carol. Tuchet, my friend. Or Robin. I mean, come on. I'm saying an ex can be crazy like Susan said, you can ask. And I honestly dated a guy who. His ex was crazy.
51:07 His ex really was crazy. But you know what? It refers back to a conversation, Susan, I had earlier, about baggage. Because, and this is what Susan, you asked earlier. The baggage that he had with his ex-wife was so severe. We couldn't date. It was too much. Well.
51:27 Well, where's the trust issue? That's, you know, I mean, baggage is baggage. Right. And you think sometimes you bring that along in another relationship. If it's part of your life. That's what I said earlier. It's part of our lives. We're older.
51:41 We've lived life. But I don't think it's a red flag that his ex-wife was crazy, that he said. His ex-wife is crazy. The red flag is when the craziness, again, makes him behave in ways. ways that are not healthy to form a relationship with me. Then it's a red flag. But saying she's got a crazy ex-wife. Maybe true.
52:07 Jerry, we can't thank you enough for being here. I need to know, do you have anything coming up that you want to share with us? Or perhaps where can people find you on social? Just in case some men are listening to this and say, she, the one I want to text. Well, I think, I'm sure I'm on Instagram. Well, what is your handle on Instagram? don't know what it is. Oh, God, Derek. I don't know what it is either, but Jerry, as we have pointedly pointed out, men in their 60s are not great on Instagram. They don't know how to DM. They, you know,
52:43 they're just not always that's right. But you know what? I'm not LinkedIn. They could, they have young people that could help them. They could ask for a friend's help. They still do. I love it. I'm still on LinkedIn for my career. I have never had a man reach out to me for a date on LinkedIn, but it's an interesting idea. Maybe I should start checking my LinkedIn again. Are you on LinkedIn? Yeah, of course. There you go.
53:08 That's where you can find her, everybody. Anything coming up, you know, any fun stuff coming up in your life? Well, I'm going to San Diego. My daughter, Dr. Flowers, is presenting in a cardiology. Beautiful. And it's a medical, so I love that. So let's see. And you know what she says?
53:27 to me you'll love this. Well, Mom, I'm going to be presenting. Are you going to be okay? I'm like, are you? I'm a big girl. Look for the guys in the white coats. Okay, well, listen. Thank you. Thanks, Jerry. Thanks again for coming. Make sure to rate, review, and subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts, and you can follow us on social media at Bachelor Happy Hour and at Bachelor Nation.
