Grab it, grab it.
Don't you have to say it first thing?
Well, I did.
You weren't there.
It's not like we live together and work together.
Although, are you interested?
Do you want to be roomies?
Or is this enough?
Like you said, mixing business.
It's probably enough, yeah, probably enough.
We had a nice time on that salmon fishing.
We did.
I would love to go again.
I thought about that,
just like within the last 24 to 48.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think about it.
It's, again, one of these things,
it's pro tip or a veteran move or whatever.
Because what do you buy your kids for Christmas?
What do you do?
It's about experience is take a efficient.
But then his gift is also my gift because I get to go too.
Beautiful.
The thing is, I suppose, do you want to be on a boat with your kid?
zero separation for that long.
I think the age matters.
Age of the child.
They've got to be competent,
but not teenager putsy.
You know what I mean?
Yeah, I do.
Or they could get through that stage.
I could probably, if I, my oldest,
this is awesome.
I can't wait to go.
My middle guy would be, is there Wi-Fi on the boat?
Can you Bluetooth?
How are we?
what are we going to be doing?
He'd be like, why am I being punished?
So we're going on a boat for,
you're going to stick me out here,
nine hours and no phone.
That's right.
What did I do, Dad?
Why?
I thought this was Chris.
The other part of it is,
are you catching?
Are you busy?
Yeah.
Because if you're reeling them in,
things are great.
Yeah.
I've had days where she's slow and.
Yeah, that's true.
It's to be a little bit.
because we did it in Mexico that one day.
What did we catch one?
One.
Yeah, one kind of small sailfish.
It was big, you know.
It's fine for us, but it's still a lot of hours.
Yeah.
Bobbing around.
Fishing with Boomer.
That's a very quick, we have spots open on our next trip.
Doesn't say anything about me, but, Rhett, they have.
I can't wait.
Let's go.
Like, when is the next trip?
Let's get some details.
Yeah. So did somebody make an account that quickly?
We've been talking about fishing for about 90 seconds.
You mentioned it right before we went on, and I was going to bring it up to you info,
because you're now back here.
You're living in Calgary.
I don't know how things work in the States.
It seems like they're kind of free and easy and just kind of wheel.
Maybe it's, but here, the first Tuesday of every month at grocery stores is you're getting a discount.
I know, Jack, I don't know if you remember this, but this was a big day for Rhett.
Every month, the first Tuesday.
Did you know that it's like discounts?
He's probably never heard of it.
Grocery stores, what is it, 10, 10%, 15%.
I had no idea.
Yeah.
Get there on Tuesdays.
You go on the first Tuesday and you're going to get some,
it's going to be worth your while.
Do you know what,
Rhett would stock up on the first Tuesday of every month
with the 15% off?
Probably a lot of meat.
It's a nice guess.
It's a good guess.
Because he's kind of a bontan meats guy.
So he goes to bontan for the,
Oh, the potato salad.
No, I'm not going to Bonton.
He's not going to the grocery store.
This is going to the grocery store.
Just a regular.
I don't know.
It's tough.
It is a bit tough.
When we tell you, you'll be like, oh, it'll make sense.
Is it like a snack?
No, I don't snack.
You don't snack.
You don't snack?
No popcorn.
No.
Oh, yeah.
What are we talking to?
I don't know.
What is it, Red?
butter.
Pounds of butter.
That's,
yeah,
that's,
butter is expensive.
Butter is expensive.
Butter is expensive.
And hard.
Makes,
yeah,
that makes sense.
Yeah,
literally it's become hard.
I don't know what it is.
Less spreadable because somebody's,
somebody's,
you know what,
they've been jimmy in with the,
uh,
the mix,
butter mix.
It's off.
Shouldn't be going to have to start churning her own.
That's what there is to do it.
Damn it.
Idea guy.
Get to,
get to,
I'm going to start giving me a churning machine.
Yeah.
going to make some. You definitely need
a, do some butter churnin
is what you need to be doing.
Yeah, so I wanted to remind
you, hey, you're back, I don't know, is there
a thing in Buffalo? Don't worry. The Shubler and I,
we're dialed in. No, they don't
have that. They don't have
that. Although I did find
Wagyu beef.
Why you beef
in the, for sale section.
I think they made a mistake. Yeah, maybe.
Load it up. Sometimes that
happens.
another pro tip sometimes you'll find the turkeys will be on sale plus your 15 off you're buying
two or three you got christmas taken care of you got Thanksgiving and then just a maybe American
Thanksgiving not maybe definitely 100% fair enough thanks what he like I was I actually wondered
if I should do a trial run this weekend uh for next week yeah I think we are actually but I don't have
around next weekend, which is great and somewhat sad.
Is everyone leaving? What's going on?
I don't know. People don't like me.
That can't be it.
But also for American Thanksgiving, you could do some beef or something different.
Would it be too much turkey between mid-October to the end of December, three big turkeys?
It's a lot of turkey, but I like the turkey.
I do too. I'm never disappointed when...
Never.
What are they serving?
All they're doing the big Christmas, the turkey.
Awesome.
Yeah.
Awesome.
It's hard to, because there's so many,
there's so many things that you like about that meal.
You can't F it all up.
No.
Turkey's too dry.
Well, how's the stuffing?
One, the gravy on it.
And there's one saving grace for all of it.
You just said the word.
Yeah.
It's the gravy.
If you make spectacular gravy,
yeah.
The meal's set.
And with you make a head,
you know if it's good or,
not people we've talked about the get ahead gravy i made gravy just to make great and it's been
years we probably have to do the thing where we just do a show from a kitchen because there's nothing
really to it but it's uh man it would be fun do you know about the get ahead gravy jack we've talked
about it many times when you make gravy ahead of time you have to make gravy that's right
that's the get ahead gravy you're trying to work i'll leave you alone you're doing stuff there
Jack would have never heard the old story of the day where I did just made gravy.
Because we were talking about gravy.
We weren't even talking about making gravy, but I think it was a conversation,
kind of probably like this.
And then you went home and decided just to make some gravy.
Yeah, I remember, yeah, did the show, I made gravy.
Just to make gravy.
Yeah, it doesn't make you bad.
You know what else is snuck into the repertoire since coming back?
back.
Them damn Yankees,
they can't make
Poutine.
No,
hey,
it's not their thing.
We Canadians?
Oh, baby.
Yeah.
Come on now.
Yeah,
it's good.
And it's everywhere.
Like,
you can find the odd pocket
that has a Poutine
and they'll fake it in the States.
It's like shredded cheese.
Yeah,
yeah.
You don't know what they're doing.
Go around here.
It's everywhere.
Foothie?
Squeaky curds.
Oh,
yeah.
They got a squeak.
Yeah, the thing about Putin is you like Putin.
The Putin doesn't like you.
No, it beats you up.
No, does not like you.
Ends your day.
It makes you tired.
End your day.
Makes you feel terrible about yourself.
If Putin was a person, you wouldn't hang out with them at all.
No.
Wow.
Every time I'm with that guy, I just feel like shit.
You would because you're bad about myself.
You're getting something from it, but you know it shouldn't.
You shouldn't be doing it.
Inevitably, though, when you get the Putin, the lead up and the
excitement for it is probably bigger than what it is.
And then regardless of how big your putte,
you only need about a third of what you have.
I was just going to say, five bites?
That's it.
You're done.
Probably five.
You have the first one.
Oh, this is so good.
Second one, same.
Third, fourth.
By the sixth seventh bite, I'm just eating it out of habit.
Yeah.
And the first bite, you look, it's so good.
I'm going to have to order another one.
Yes.
I'm just going to plow right through this one.
This one doesn't stand a chance.
I need to order another one.
And then, like you say, yeah, you're probably six and a half would be the over under for
bytes where you've, you've had enough.
Of what's necessary.
That was good.
If someone took this away for me, I'd have a better day.
Right?
I'd be able to continue on my day.
Yeah, I'd be productive.
But you finish it.
Yeah.
But you dig in.
Tell yourself.
My dad said, don't waste food.
That's right.
Can't waste it.
Well, surprise in the show today.
Although I think you put it in the show notes, but Red didn't see the show notes.
Surprise to you, but nobody else that's watching because it's in the show notes.
That's coming out.
I'll be able to react.
Yeah, less than an hour.
Hour.
40 minutes, 45 minutes, 42 minutes, somewhere.
Sure.
There was a hockey game last night.
Two football games.
We'll do the Pinder Report, Sands Pinder coming up.
Uh, the report's been great without Pinder has it been.
It's different.
concise.
Yeah, I feel like it's more,
it doesn't meander without meaning.
In fairness, there are a lot of people that like the Pinder report for the things that
are beyond sports.
They are referred to as idiots.
That's not true.
There's a lot of people that listen and they enjoy it.
Uh, but we'll get into our opening statements for McLeod law.
It's McLeod Law. Peter Klein, McLeod Law, personal injury guy. He's a little bit of everything.
Whatever it is that's happened, and specifically it's that disability insurance claim.
If something's happened, you've been, you know, hurt on the job, disability insurance, that whole thing.
And maybe that insurance company is taken their sweet time. Maybe it's taken a little bit longer than it should to get those insurance benefits.
Contact Peter. He goes to work and he gets what you need, what you've paid for and you deserve.
Peter Klein,
McLeod-Dashlot.com.
The flames were in action last night.
Not quite the penultimate.
I don't even like that word.
It's hard to say.
The next one will be the,
I believe, the penultimate.
Taking on the Seattle Cracken,
remember last week they played the Cracken,
kind of a veteran crew of Cracken
against the Young Flames team,
and they did quite well, as it turned out.
Stomp.
Yeah, they did quite well.
Let's go to the dome last night.
Chandler Stevenson, he signed a big, fat contract.
There he is number nine.
Watch the backhand, no looker right through the spot.
Ellie Tolvenin.
Oh.
He beats Dan Vladar.
We're going to play all 60 in this game.
You're welcome.
Oliver Bjork strands, sprung and a breakaway.
What ours says, no.
I got it.
Fellas, I got it.
The flames will tie it.
It's our buddy Lomburg, down low, doing things that he does,
four check and cause and turnovers.
Fahal who rips it.
Manage his nice time.
Yeah.
That's Joey Dickord.
There's Pahall.
He had, what, a couple points the other night.
Another one there.
Good preseason.
It's one-one.
Flames are going to tie it on the power play.
That's Tice with the wrister.
Backland to the back to the front of the net,
off play Coleman and in.
It's a pretty one.
Highlight of the night.
That makes it two to one.
To the second, the game tied at two.
Shane Wright, going to find a rebound.
How about Vladars?
sticking out the big fat blocker there
nice blocker save
a highlight of the night sincerely
here this is sam hansick short-handed
no skill i'm gonna go right around
and through and in
that's vince done
n hl defenseman
it's it doesn't get much prettier
why is he way back there standing still
not to take away from what hansick did
he is probably he's expecting we're on a power play
he's going to dump it and change
But except he chose not to.
So to the third, another power play,
Vladar is unhappy.
He's saying, I got bumped, dude.
I got no stick with the H.
Now watch Flidar here.
Oh.
Oh.
Come on, stripes.
There's two teams out there.
Wait a minute.
The defenseman went down too.
Jeez, come on now.
So we go to overtime.
Look at Cozmanco.
I'm going to go do one of these and one of this.
And then.
Cool.
I mean,
Joe's.
Get out of here.
Yeah, Kuzmiko's got some skill.
Cadry taps it in for your overtime winner.
Kuzmiko is one of the guys,
and I know we'll talk to as we get into it.
No idea what to expect this year.
Is it 20 goals?
Is it 40 goals?
Contract year? Contract year.
35.
Think?
That'd be all right.
I would be real good.
Yeah.
That'd be just fine.
that would be just fine.
So the flames win it in extra time,
not double OT, but over, you know, overtime.
Hansik, another goal.
He continues, I think that's five assists for him now on the preseason,
plus the goal.
He is one of the top scorers in the preseason.
There were six flame penalties in the second,
which really kind of disrupted the flow.
I know as a coach, when you're in evaluation mode,
okay, let's see what we got for a penalty kill.
Six is too many.
A little too much.
There was even a delay of game when the puck is fired from their own end.
It goes right over the far glass and out.
Hell of a shot.
Delay a game.
Really?
Can you do that?
No.
Not even if I tried.
I was on the ice this morning.
Rim and pucks.
Yeah?
Ouch.
It's weird too.
I usually won't even shoot one.
And when I first got on the ice this morning, I'm like, I'm going to shoot, I'm going to rip one top.
Your spry.
Yeah.
feeling it today. Ow.
Yeah. No more.
Vladar goes the distance, makes 30 saves.
He's been good. They've been keeping him,
keeping him moving, that hip that he had
worked on. Do you want to keep him,
keep him going out with some, perhaps
some troubling news. I'll save the troubling.
Or it could be a, what, like a compliment
sandwich or a good news sandwich. So,
Vladar makes 30 saves.
Bad. Hansik good.
Yeah. Is that bad?
No, I'm doing the sandwich thing,
isn't it usually when you do the sandwich?
Something good.
I'm giving you some good.
Some bad.
So Hans, it could go and the, uh, bury a couple of assists and all that.
Michael Backlin missed the third period.
That's okay.
Well, that's the bad news in the, I know, but I'm a positive guy.
So that doesn't mean he's, it's exhibition.
He's fine.
Okay.
Uh, Adam Klapka, who we've talked about.
No points, but five shots on net, seven hits out there doing everything he can.
Finishing checks.
Doing what he can.
Lovely.
Coronado, zero points, zero shots.
He was one of those guys, maybe that...
I like what you're doing with your hand then.
With the kind of waving it.
People can't see, but...
That's my Trump.
Yeah.
You know, when you've got six...
So many penalties, there's so many, too many penalties in the second period.
You lose guys.
And Huska talked afterwards.
Maybe Pelchay was one of those guys,
because he's very much in this,
Where are you starting the season?
What's happening with you?
Well,
I know where you're starting to season.
Do you?
They're not sending them down.
Doesn't they have to go through waivers?
He does.
Zero chance.
What are you talking?
I know.
Let's not be naive.
However, on merit.
He's been the shit.
It would seem like there's maybe some other.
And here's the thing.
Hansik,
it has become very much a talking point now
because he's getting goals and points and he is involved and he looks good
and seems to be getting better.
as the preseason goes on.
Now, you've talked about this before,
where for young guys and that,
you ride that emotion.
There's going to be a crash at some point.
It's going to come back down to Earth where,
okay, it's game three, it's game four.
Now you're in a road trip and two games and three nights
and that sort of thing.
He's not going to continue on this kind of rip,
but if you're going to look at Merritt,
who there's spots to be had,
he's got the weird birthday.
He can go to the minors.
He can go to, yes, the American League.
So, I mean, what a great spot for the flames.
Yeah.
Up and down, up and down.
Yeah.
The other thing is, with Hansik, I talked to some people.
He texts me, and he's like, you know, you guys were beacon me earlier.
It's because I can't play with the scrubs.
I need NHL caliber talent, but it's...
So, just so I have this...
Hansik texted.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I got a random text.
I didn't know he Newman.
Must listen.
Okay.
Heard us ripping on him.
And he's like, dude.
So what was he saying?
If I'm not playing with scrubs and pickup hockey with these hacks in Penticton, I'll be fine.
Seems like a good,
with some players.
It's easier to play with better players.
Can't give a good player a bad pass.
It's weird.
I feel like he's a,
he's not a very cocky kid that he would have that kind of demeanor in a text.
Well, maybe he came across oddly.
Yeah.
And you know what?
That's the thing with texts.
Yeah.
Right.
Or emails.
You don't know what the mood or the temperature is.
It could be misconstrued.
Might have been yelling at me for all I know.
It might have been.
So, yeah, that'll be.
He's making a case and good honor.
You guys were in Penticton and it was like, we didn't notice them.
Well, and it was one of, game one, you were very much noticing all of the guys that were drafted this year.
And then by the second period, oh right, Hansick.
And you just feel like you should be dominating here right now.
You're a year older than these guys.
You're a first round pick, all that.
And he was of little consequence.
Then in the second game, there was, okay, there's a rush.
There's something you started to see him.
So it has really been a pretty steady climb for him.
And in the Pinder report, he kind of talks about that, that he's just become more comfortable, feeling better.
Is there a cap management situation?
they have i don't think this is a year where they'll be concerned about i'm talking about down the road
do you look that far ahead or is do you know what i'm saying thinking of why spend why one year
he can go to the fricking miners and yeah i do wonder if there is i guess in the miners he's burning
here anyways um i'm just thinking because you can play the nine games right you can i think it's nine
games at the start of the season before the deal kicks in.
You can keep him as here, here's a nice little carrot for you.
There's two games left.
Now he can certainly, I guess, kind of turn down the volume, but he's been really good.
Do you give him some time at the start of the year as, as kind of a reward for this, or do you
even care about that?
Do you worry about message sending, you were one of our best young guys, but yet you
don't stay and maybe Coronado and peasant.
Pellche and some of these other guys do.
I don't know.
Again, I don't know what Coronado situation is as far as waivers.
He can still pass without waiver.
Yeah.
You're not going to lose Peltier, I don't think.
I think it's bad management if you do.
It is for sure.
So he has to stay in my opinion.
But on the other hand, I remember freaking out.
I was on the Mark Jankowski train because he had a hell of a training camp.
Yeah.
And they sent him down and I'm like,
what message is this sending?
And so same thing with Hansick.
I don't think they're going to overthink it.
If he's good enough to play and continues to contribute,
give him.
Yeah.
Guess where the Wranglers are.
Oh, four doors down.
Yeah.
Right or.
Sorry.
Give her.
Yeah.
Probably Trent call is getting in there.
I didn't think Hansick was very good tonight.
It looks like he made that move, but.
Other than that.
Selfish, really.
Should have done.
He's killed.
I mean, we'll take them.
We'll take them.
I'd be fine.
I'd love to work with them.
So much I could teach this young man.
You don't want to be bothered with it, Husk.
You don't want to be doing this on with your big NHL team.
You don't want it.
You don't want it.
So two games remain both against Winnipeg, Wednesday, Saturday, and then in a week's time,
plus a day, the regular season gets started.
Here's a look see.
at what we're talking about.
Fancy schedule.
It is so fancy.
Jets, jets,
Kinnucks, Flyers,
Oilers.
So the back-to-back
against Winnipeg
will end things.
So that,
the Wednesday game,
I believe,
the penultimate game.
I don't know.
Again,
can't say it,
don't know what it means.
It's okay.
It's not a bad thing.
Yeah,
it's not a bad thing.
It'll be fine.
I wonder what they're going to do
with the
goaltending,
you won't worry about losing
Vlodar
on waivers because of his,
I don't think,
he's making 2.2 million,
I think it is this year.
Can't imagine somebody's Boston taking that.
Yeah, we'll talk about Boston.
Because I think you want him to play.
And I don't know what the thought process is here with Wolf,
what that workload,
I'm sure they have a plan,
But I don't know.
Do you keep Cooley and let Vodar go down and have a bunch of games?
I don't know who Cooley is to be on.
Well, he's their third guy.
I know.
We all say that most goalies nowadays are big.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Seems to be a trend.
So that's all fine and good.
There's not a lot of NHL experience there.
I won't try and fool you with it.
I just, this is just more so about what your thoughts are.
with Dan Vladar.
It does everybody
a great,
in everybody's best interest
for him to play well
and feel good.
Whether that means he stays with the club,
maybe he's another guy
that's trade,
I don't know how that works,
but.
Well, whatever.
I think he's with the club,
though.
Are you saying that you're,
I'm not concerned at all.
I just because of the...
You would consider sending him down
to get more games?
Just because of the hip.
They talked last night,
Huska said,
about Vladar, like the way he played,
but says, I think
I think you'll probably see him again.
Now that he's working himself up, we kind of
want to keep him move and want to keep him active.
Almost more of a
hip
rehabilitation
kind of a thing. I don't know.
I would think he's Pennsylvania.
I don't think they're, again,
it all changes if a guy pitches
seven shutouts in a row, but I don't
think they're penciling Wolf in as a
no, no,
65, 70 game guy.
Yeah. So Vladar will get lots
of time to, I would think,
play with the big club.
I don't think Kooley's,
maybe he's fine, but it
yeah, yeah. No, and it's, it's not
even about Kuli necessarily.
Yeah, it's about
keeping him. It's about
Vladar.
Now, Wolf.
I wish you brought that thing in.
Which thing?
Green thing.
How?
Oh, yeah.
It's long gone, I think.
It got broken.
Find another.
I could, I guess.
Sorry.
Write it down.
So we need a wolf.
Wolf wouldn't hurt.
Put it on your button.
My buttons aren't working.
Oh, Jackie boy.
Jackie's are working.
I showed Jack yesterday how to work.
He was very excited.
So I could just go in here.
Yeah.
And then you just, how do I know which one?
If you just flip that screen, then it shows you there, which one.
What about Wolf?
Your side tracked.
Do you want to get a few more?
Do you want to fire one more in just for, without context, just for fun?
Okay.
The, I just, I don't know what to expect.
I think he's good.
There was for a while, oh, how, you don't want him getting shell shocked and playing with a horrible defense.
and then his, you know, sewer his career in year one because you don't have good enough defense.
Do you know worry much about that?
I, not yet.
Yeah.
They're winning bloody hockey games.
Yeah.
Right?
Like they did, it's exhibition.
I get it.
I'm not on the, is the jackometer or the jackometer?
I said jackometer.
Ryan didn't like it because I think it sounds kind of.
Anyway.
my peaks and valleys for Wolf for exhibition hockey aren't is it the Wolf omitore or the Red Ometer?
Either.
Okay.
It's the Red Omitur in support of Wolf.
Yeah.
I don't know.
There again,
over under games played.
What are his numbers?
It's like setting lines for the,
oh,
this is,
we're going to have them penciled in for the next three years.
You're not.
You're going to play three games in a row together and then you're going to change it.
It is one of the things over the years that we,
us, whoever, if you want to call us meaty, we're not meaty, I guess.
Line combos.
So much time is spent talking about it and so rarely does it ever make a bloody difference.
Oh, so-and-so got hurt.
We were after a power play or a penalty kill, so we had to, you know, this,
oh, he had some skate problems, so he had to go.
And so he swore.
He wasn't going tonight, so I mixed up.
Yeah.
You keep mixing things up.
Now, I guess when you get into a situation where it's a line that keeps going and going,
and they're clearly not working and it's hurting the hockey team,
then yeah,
let's talk about changing the lines.
Let's talk about that.
Same with Wolf, though.
It'll be how's the season going?
What's he look like?
What kind of shots are he facing?
Is he performed?
I don't know.
If it's three,
two games and they're in a lot of the games
and he's not being peppered and exploited,
then yeah,
we're fine.
You let in seven or eight,
and it's a shooting gallery,
a conversation time.
Yeah.
Sit down.
Let's talk this out.
figure some things out here, see what we're doing.
So if the last game is your NHL rosters,
generally, right?
Yeah.
For the most part, yeah.
So there's one more game tomorrow to kind of,
for whoever's on the bubble to strut their stuff.
Who's on the bubble?
Do some strutton.
Hansik.
Hansik, Coronado, Clapka,
on the back end, I would think
now Jake Bean
is not playing because he was injured.
There's Saloviev and Bean.
There's some guys in the back end.
I don't think Grushikov,
he's going to go to the American League.
It's not a ton.
But I think it would
it would really do Jacob Pellci
good to have a game.
You said it the other day
about he's making defensive plays
and he's in the right spot.
find some guys that can do that.
Nice to have some guys that can put the puck in the edge.
Well, we drafted them in the first round as a scorer.
We can turn them into a plugger if we need, I guess.
Plugger.
I feel like I'd rather, again, plan it's exhibition.
Like the next game, go.
Yeah.
Every offensive opportunity I try and play.
Because that's the one because, and I think everyone understands.
If they're watching this thing, they get it.
If they're going to send him to the American hockey league,
they have to put him on waivers,
which means the entire NHL has a crack at just picking up off the waivers for nothing.
It's a,
it's happened a bit.
It happened with Valamaki,
and that doesn't sit well with anybody.
You just don't want it.
It was a waste of an asset.
Sometimes you look back and you think,
well,
that was a wasted first round pick.
Who cares?
But right now,
he was a guy that went to Montreal.
Well,
Byron.
Paul Byron.
Byron.
Like,
not that he was a world beater,
but why are you give?
Yeah.
You couldn't find it.
No sense.
And again, with Pell-Cay, I don't know that he's going to be every day and 50 points.
But that's, you have, who's the first round pick?
You should at least give him a chance to be that.
So I'm with you.
You have the American League team there.
He needs waivers.
It's not ideal.
It feels like he's going to start the season.
And if you get two or three weeks in and he can't get in the lineup or,
it's just not working.
Then I guess you have a conversation.
Is there a trade that can be made?
But again, best case scenario, get in, play well.
I think it depends on what the team's doing as well.
And I think the exhibition has been good for the team.
It's a lot better than losing all of them coming into a season where everyone had some questions.
What is it a bit of a mishope as well?
Like are we now thinking, oh, maybe on the cusp here?
better than we thought? Do we have an outside chance? Can we make a run at this? You know what?
I don't think so. But at the same time, I think if you think that you aren't, you probably are and you
don't know it. Yeah. It's like, what are they, 501 or whatever? Then the, hey, this has been a pretty good
pre-stasy. Pretty good. It is for sure. Does it mean anything? No, is it better than the alternative?
Damn right. But you do kind of, because that's kind of why I asked about Wolf, because it was not that
long ago, are you going to have to really watch because all these deer are gone.
You got no, you got no defense back there.
I think it still will be sparse and you haven't played a lot of top end lineups.
So, I don't play out though.
Yeah.
I mean, you're not going to be able to hide Wolf.
And I don't think coolies, yeah, you know, put him in there because you think he's going to turn into something.
Like, anyway.
If anything, I'll say this.
if I'm if I'm feeling anything about what we've watched I'm I'm more maybe confident that
they're going to be in hockey games they'll be able to battle yeah it's not San Jose where this is
it's just getting shit kick night after night I think they're going to be in games well in a way
they should their back end is probably their well depending on how Vladarn wolf play but
I think the glaring part would be defensemen three to six.
Yeah.
Who are they?
What are they?
Other than that, they've got enough veterans up front that they should be able to
at least compete.
Yeah.
Sharon Govich, Kuzmenko, Cadry, Huberdow.
They added Coleman, Backland, like, Manta, they add.
They should, they should not be getting absolutely throttled.
So that's the hope.
Entertain us.
win some games.
Make the playoffs.
You don't make the playoffs.
We'll see how it goes.
But it might not be a...
What's Pender's thing?
Because we have to give up a pick?
Oh, I can't.
It's just...
Can't remember.
You don't want to make the playoffs.
That's what it comes down to, I guess.
We'll find out.
He'll be back here soon enough,
telling us all what we think and don't think.
One of the other things,
and I guess I can call it up here,
although I don't know that I need to.
I can just tell you.
the and this is another one of the kind of bugaboos that pender has the uh sharon govich at center
oh yes it's a big deal for him maybe there's another way maybe um what other way
him on the wing you're saying you'd rather him on the wing i think that maybe him on the wing
might be the better.
His offense, he's shown.
He was four and four for, uh, yeah, four of 16 in the face off dot, 25%.
Hmm.
Not ideal.
Not sure what the options are.
I, and now back, if backland is, if this is an injury that is anything, but you've
already gotten to be pretty thin at center.
And I don't know, posthal, I guess moves to the middle.
Does that give somebody else?
Does I give Rooney a bit of an edge going into opening night to make a spot?
I don't know.
But I do agree.
I'm not as I'm not.
I would rather.
I would rather have produced as a sentiment.
And it's such an important position.
I don't want to just throw someone out there because.
Well,
because it,
but it almost kind of felt like one of those things where you go in.
Like in football.
Is anybody played?
quarterback in college. We're going to do a
gadget play here where Goff's
going to go and catch a touchdown. Oh,
you've done, okay, great, so you'll be the guy.
Who's played center?
Has anyone played center at any point
in their career? For
Sharon Govich, and I said this a few times last
year, he was a good pro because he was scoring.
He was on a real good tear, and then
they needed him to move to, they needed somebody to move
to center, they chose him, his numbers
went away for a while,
went down anyway, but there
was no pouting. He just continued to play,
and work and did a decent job.
Noticing him. I didn't think.
Like his, yes,
you go back and look at it and his numbers
might not have been there. But it wasn't
like he went to center and he disappeared.
Yeah.
But he's a shooter.
You think about him if he had a pure center
with him. Well, isn't that nice for
everybody? Yeah. So we should just go.
Just go get one. Why not
just get Connie? Why don't you get
Sharon Govich of a center
that can just feed him? Like, come on.
What are we doing?
That will be one of the things, I think, though.
We'll be Sharon Govich.
He's got the new deal.
I think it's a team for, I think it's a good deal.
Like he's a good player.
But is he going to be a center?
I would be concerned.
He had that good year in Jersey and then he fell off.
Yeah.
Now, Jersey's stacked with young, talented players,
so maybe the ice time wasn't available to them to produce at the same rate.
But I don't want to see.
see that. No. No, I think he's good year bad. He's going to be a he's going to be a part of the offense,
a key part of the offense, I think. And the other thing that we saw it in overtime, it was Hansik
with Cadry and Kuzmanko. And when you think in pairs, that third guy, well, Kuzmanko is an
interesting one because like you say, I'm just intrigued by the guy who he is. He just seems to be,
we've shown pictures and photos of him. He's quirky guy. Sance,
humor, hell of a hockey player, contract year.
He's going to get all the friggin ice time and power play time he wants.
And when we talk to Conroy in Penticton, they keep talking about the last month of the
season, their power play was top 10.
It was, because they had Kuzmenko working beside the net there in his office.
That was the Kuzmanko office right to the sign.
He was a big part of getting that thing turned up.
So I don't know what I would put the over under for goals for him.
35 is a hell of a number.
I'd love to, that's, yeah, I'd be all right.
It gives you a lot of options if you're Conroy.
Sure does.
Bring them back because you like what you see.
Yeah.
Go ahead.
Bam.
Yeah.
Easy to move.
35 goal guy?
Easy to move.
Expiring contract?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's kind of the scoop there.
I'm not sure what's happening in Winnipeg.
Maybe we'll reach out to the Winnipeg folks.
they who's in Winnipeg the reporter that you like we talked to uh well there's quite a few but we talked to
weeb wee over the years websy yep are you worried about your jets no it's not it's not even a worry
last year hey these guys are real good and didn't get out of the first round it feels like that's
they're just their it's their all there yeah yeah just kind of their thing they see who did they
played in the first round. Colorado.
We had picked them. I think you and I picked the Jets and then Colorado absolutely
didn't let... Well, and remember those games, they were 9-8 or whatever.
The first game, the Jets won, and it was 7-6 or something like that.
Yeah, Georgie 5 or whatever it was. Georgiev was just a funnel.
So I don't know what they're doing out there in Winnipeg. I'm sure they're fine. I'm sure
they're fine. They got Perfetti signed. I think it's the fine.
final year for uh oh let's uh we'll talk about it tomorrow
talk about it tomorrow cares about the jets it's winnipeg fair enough you ever
been to winnipeg jack no i have not i've been in alberta and bc and that's it and
saskatchewan manitobos once you've seen saskatchewan it's kind of just a it's kind of a
continuation yeah i don't really need to go back there although i do a family there
do you?
Yeah.
Yeah, but they're the skids, drunk losers.
Jeez.
All right.
We'll do the Pinder report here at a moment.
Right now?
Well, I want to get it.
Oh, that special guest.
Yeah, we got a guest coming up.
Got a guest coming up.
So there you go.
That's opening statements, sort of, from a cloud law.
The Mod Medical Clinic, it is there for guys like us.
Maybe you're getting a little bit older, and the body starts,
making some changes.
Some good.
Some not so good.
Like this part.
Not great, but you know what?
You talk about it.
You get over the silly embarrassment of it.
Get past the stig by we'll talk about,
oh, my liver is acting up.
My this is acting up.
And then when it's something, you know,
erectile or it?
I can't talk about that.
Can't talk about that.
Medical therapies with the Mod Medical Clinic
to optimize your life in the bedroom and the bathroom.
If you're going to the bathroom through the night,
two, three times. If you're popping the blue pill, consider a non-medication approach. It's called
Viassure, and it's with the Mod Medical Clinic. Be Aroused.ca is their website, and it's sexual
function. It's just body function is what it comes down to at the end of the day. There's so many
things that are tied into what it is that they specialize in. There's Parenthood disease. Viasure helps
with pelvic pain, penile dysfunction,
ED, it's soft wave technology,
15-minute treatments,
forms new blood vessels, increasing blood flow,
and we kind of,
your pelvic floor.
It's about your pelvic floor.
If you've got the weak pelvic floor,
nothing's going to work the way it shows.
You're going to have lower back pain.
You're going to have all kinds of pain.
Nothing's going to be quite the way it should be.
And it's,
this is what they deal with.
It's not as though you go in and here's a pill and you leave.
This is about getting, you know, grabbing a hold of your life,
grabbing hold of your physical state.
Take control of it.
And being all around better because of it.
To book a consultation, visit be aroused.ca and get in there about,
and there's a lot of different things.
When you go to their website, and I suggest and recommend that you do,
you'll see all the different things that they have there.
If you're a man, you owe it to yourself.
Be around.
D.C. Pelvic floor physiotherapy,
incontinence, sexual performance, hip and lower back pain,
stabilization of the core, mobility.
That's your strength.
If you get up out of your chair and you're trying to unplug a TV
and then plug it back in and you're kind of out of,
your back kind of season up here.
Gives out on you and you've somehow kind of lost your breath just from standing up.
Maybe, maybe time.
Be aroused.
You're referencing.
Yeah, that's good for those people.
I just pick something random that people might be able to relate with.
Village Honda presents the Pinder report.
It's located.
They are located in the Northwest Automal online at villagehonda.com.
New inventory on the ground.
2025s are rolling in, rolling in.
2020-5s.
You got it.
The Accord, the Civic, the CRV, the pilot, the passport.
It's all there.
And you owe it to yourself to go and check it out,
or at least go online at village honda.com and village honda presents the pinder report
rindipendah it's quiet you got to turn level off i did it just let me sing
need the buttons let's do it one more time
rindindindindinds still quiet a little bit quiet but it's fine yeah it's full volume is it
Jack, can you fix your buttons?
I think when you go into the thing, you get here.
Now we're sorry, tracked.
Pitta report.
What hell is it?
There it is.
Flames last night, we showed you the highlights.
They beat the Seattle,
Crackin?
Yeah.
Seattle,
four to three.
Overtime winner,
Nazum-Codry.
Nice feed from Kuzmanko.
Sam Hansik, another goal.
If you missed it,
it's a beauty.
Take a look at it.
Now,
they're shorthanded here.
So what does it keep?
kid do you dump it in you go for a change right or dance viny done you just walk vin vin vin
vinny thought he was going for a change i'm gonna oh you're going this way you're not going around
yeah you are yeah fake to poke check fake to slash and just decided i'm going to let him go you see
there hansa kind of looked them off for a little bit really he's not happy uh so for hansick there
you go. It's another, it's a goal. It's another point. The preseason, it continues. And I'm not
sure who head coach Ryan Husk is talking about, but he's being asked about Hansik. In a way,
you're almost running out of, is it platitudes, running out of good things to say about Sam Hansen.
Beautiful goal. I mean, it was an NHL defenseman, if I'm not mistaken, that he was able to make his
move on. So that's, that's his speed. And I think that's the confidence that we've talked to
over the last few days that he's playing with right now.
So I'm really happy for him.
You can't be anything but happy for the young guy.
I know after last year, everybody was talking about,
whoa, geez, where is this Hanzek guy?
Is he going to be a player?
Well, he is a player.
He's a pretty good player.
So we're pretty excited about where he's at right now.
It's too nice.
Huska or Hansik?
Huska.
All right.
Not a lot to be bitter about, though.
Sure not.
Although if it's the Sutter methodology,
if you're winning, you're not happy
because they're getting complacent.
He seems more.
He kind of does, doesn't he?
Yeah, I'm sure things go a little bit south,
but anyway.
So Hanzek asked afterwards about,
he was asked about the goal
and he was pretty happy with that
and just asked about this camp
that continues to see him improve and improve and improve.
To be honest, like, you know,
when the Pentagon started,
it was kind of tough
because, you know, three months without the game,
but I know, once the main camp started,
I feel, I would say, really different, you know, like a new player.
And, you know, and then every game, every practice, I feel more confident,
more comfortable in the practices playing with the NHL guys and, you know,
kind of feel in and fit in the teams.
So he said there, Penticton starts.
I haven't played a game in three months, started slow, wasn't feeling good.
Scrubs all over the place, can't play with these donkeys.
As he texted you, he said, you'll get around NHL guys, guys can make some plays,
and next thing, you know, here's a guy.
Here I am dominated.
So two games remain as we talked about already.
Final game.
Generally, that's your NHL roster, final cuts.
We're getting down, I'll call it the nitty gritty.
Ooh.
I don't want to.
Sorry if I went too far.
But here is Hansik when asked about cuts around the corner.
Cuts are happening, you know, and I mean, we are probably between the last guys to like be decided.
So, you know, it's getting harder, you know, even the pressure is kind of like coming up now.
I know the two games, two present games are left.
So, you know, I'm just trying to, like, put everything in it.
And, you know, even if I make the team, if I don't, I leave it, everything here.
Got to leave it all out there.
Got to leave it out there.
He can join the Calgary Ranglers if he does not make the big club, which...
I would expect he's going to do a bit of both.
Might be disappointing.
Get your head around it.
Not the worst thing in the world.
It sucks.
You're that close.
And then...
Yeah.
So that is the Hansik story.
We talked about Backland.
He left and in late second period did not play in the third,
no update post game from Husky.
Backl's fine.
All right.
When did we talk about Hansik?
Three weeks ago?
When did we criticize him?
It's got to be close to three weeks now?
It was, we were back from Penticton, I think.
Yeah.
Anyway.
has quickly flipped the script.
Yeah.
What are you expecting?
He's a point producer now?
Like, what is our, what, when he was drafted,
what was the hope?
And is he now starting to live up to that?
I think he definitely is.
Yeah.
Everything that we were told by the flames,
by Conroy, he's,
guys big,
he's a really good skater for a guy.
His size protects the puck well.
this, yeah, this is the guy.
And I mean, the criticism that we had two weeks ago or two and a half weeks ago was you expected for a guy that's a first rounder, you'd be having some sort of an impact.
And there were three games in Penticton, and he was not great in the first and a little bit better.
It is.
He just has slowly gotten better and better.
And now you're not having to look for him.
You're seeing him.
He's popping out of it.
Yeah.
He's showing up as you would hope a first rounder would.
So the schedule, we showed you before.
show you again there's a look at it the uh finally there's two games left and then the regular season
starts in a week that was connor zerry right there so home to winnipeg at winnipeg or at
winnipeg home to winnipeg that's right so they're on the road wednesday back at home on
friday then a few days you should text your buddy hans i can see what they're doing is there
other plans for well yeah we'll talk him sure you will sure i didn't want to bug them on a game day right
So that is how it looks there moving forward.
And then Canucks, first game, first home game against Flyers.
Flires.
Of Philadelphia.
Torterella coming to town.
He's wound up.
I hope somebody runs Mitchcock just for the post game.
Yeah.
So we all hear about hard knocks and the behind the scene stuff and all of that.
The flames themselves are doing.
a little behind the scenes, the flame staff.
They're chronicling training camp, rookie camp,
Penticton, the whole thing.
And it is called the chase.
Here's a little sneak peek.
The reality of this camp, again,
not everybody's making this team.
You want to play in the NHL?
You got to come and take a job.
It's on all of us to show what we can do.
They score.
Matt Coronado in the right place at the right time.
The expectations to make the team.
I think all the guys here are hungry.
Puckloose in front,
Popka scores.
Brings your mind back and it's time to work.
You know, just prove that you belong to be here for the long term.
There you go.
Flames TV, YouTube, original series, First Taste today.
If you're a fan of a team, you eat this stuff up.
And to be able to get that inside access,
you never used to be able to not even close to this kind of stuff.
That would have drove me nuts.
Freaking out.
Get that.
Why are you in here?
Who's this guy with a camera in the back seat?
I got a fart.
And I,
there you go.
There's some camera guy in the back seat.
Sorry.
So there you go.
Check that out.
Good job by the,
by the windows locked.
By the,
by the,
is a kid,
the kid locks?
What's going on?
Dying back here.
It is called the chase.
And you can check that out as I'm sure we'll,
uh,
we all will.
We all will.
Uh, yesterday.
We had the,
not breaking news, but there was the Jeremy Swamen, Boston Bruins saga,
took another turn yesterday, kind of a, what do you call it,
like a town hall, I guess of some sort.
You've got, it did seem to have a lot of.
Yeah, you've got Don Swaney, the general manager, Jacobs, the team owner,
Cam Neely is the president, and Jeremy Swamoneman, their goaltender,
he's an RFA, does not have a deal.
He wants a lot of money.
The Bruins sounds like, maybe they're kind of pinching.
Pinching your pen squeezing it.
They put a squeeze on, sway dogs.
Sun like that.
So this was from the town hall yesterday.
Since you say you were a surprise, Cam,
can you share any other specifics here,
be it what is ask is in terms of dollars or term?
Well, I don't want to get into the weeds with what his ask is,
but I know that I have 64 million reasons why I'd be playing right now.
Oh, 64 million, you say.
What you say there, Cam?
did you let something
slip max term
8 out 60 oh wow
so what it did is very quickly
it did for us and I think it did across
the internet and hockey fans
there okay well now swamens the bad
guy oh for because this is
if this is a
this is what you're getting you're telling us you're being hard
done by hard to see it
Lewis Gross
is his agent
on his website
this is from Lewis Gross posted this
yesterday. Normally, I do not release statements or discuss negotiations through the media. However,
in this case, I feel I need to defend my client. At today's press conference, 64 million was referenced.
This was the first time that number was discussed in our negotiations. Prior to the press
conference, no offer was made reaching that level. We're extremely disappointed. This was not fair to
Jeremy. We will take a few days to discuss where we go from here. I love it. So a couple things for me.
if it hasn't been discussed.
That's not,
it is bad.
Right.
But the other part of,
I'm like,
maybe this Neely guy is brilliant.
Maybe the ownership doesn't want to pay.
And he's just going to throw out the number that they need at six,
pretending that,
right?
Yeah.
Like maybe at,
maybe the boss,
Sweeney and the owner,
what the,
Cam to say 64?
Jacob does one of these.
what 60 what where did you get 64 a camp uh cam no you got a minute 44 so yeah that and like i say that
kind of went exactly how you might expect it to and you're right if it's not 64 even if it's 62
61 you know maybe it's splitting over an eight year deal but still you go out into public with that
there's some thought that regardless now this is hard
to come back from on both sides.
That could there be a trade?
The best news would be how about you guys walk out together today and say, yeah, it's 64 and we're done.
Yeah.
Everybody's happy.
Oh, okay.
There is.
Get in the net.
Yeah.
But you wonder, how are guys in the locker room feeling about it?
It's fine.
Is it?
Yeah.
The catch to all this is.
it's the negotiations and do what you need to do for you and there's a business all the guys get that
if if the guy's a dick they don't want them back anyway so that's always the catch right like
i have fully expect that they like swimming like i'm thinking he's probably a good guy and
they know who he is and they want him in there now if he's a putt's they're probably like good
keep the master you get rid of them but you'd probably hear rumblings about it too so but as far as the
guys being mad about contract
they already know what he wants
you think they haven't sat on the bus and
shared
stories like I remember
I don't even know why I'm telling this
we were in Toronto
I was with Joey Juno
I'd gotten to trade of the Buffalo
we're playing Toronto in the semifinals
and I was up for a contract
and I was making 400
yeah and I'm like
I might get like 700 and
Joey said to me, he's like, you'll get a million.
And I'm like, fainted.
I'm like, what?
Yeah.
I could make a million dollars?
Yeah.
Like, no.
Yeah.
So guys have these conversations.
The guys in the room are,
then it's not hard to figure out.
They can see what other guys are making.
And the other side of it is,
there would be certain guys that management would ask.
Mm-hmm.
Is this our guy?
Yeah.
Right.
Oh,
I think for sure you'd be,
you'd be in the ears or you'd be,
you're going to spend that much money on a goal tender?
Like,
is this the guy?
Is he good?
Can he do it?
Is it blah,
blah, blah.
Yeah.
So as far as the players,
they don't get a shit.
Yeah.
I mean,
so we'll see.
It's it.
I love it.
Whenever,
whatever guys are air in their,
you know,
dirty laundry and in public,
I'm,
I'm there for it.
I am curious to see how it ends.
And I'll be disappointed if it's if Neely and Swam and walk out hand in hand.
Hey guys, 64 million.
We got it done.
Nothing more to see here.
I would love again, you'll never know.
It's a long shot, but I hope Neely just threw that number out randomly.
Like I said.
Yeah.
604.
What are you talking about 64?
The ownership's going 64.
What do you?
You're misheared things, Cam.
We're going to just pump the brakes for a second.
All right.
Here we go.
I'm going to put you on the spot because you don't know what's happening.
Thank you.
Because I said we're going to have old friends.
You love visiting with old friends.
I feel like if we had a bottle of whiskey, you'd be pouring a tumbler full right now.
There was some ice in there, giving it a clink.
If I was to say, if your hints were old friend and baseball today,
so if we were going to talk baseball with an old friend.
Ooh.
Oh, no.
Owen, not Owen.
Ladies and gentlemen, our good
pal, Adnan, Verk,
on Barnburner for the very first
time, there he is.
Look at this guy.
Great to see you guys. I love the fact, Bumer, he didn't go
more than one guess. Like, don't make it
awkward for Red. He guessed no.
Incorrect. Let's not circle. How about another guest?
How about another hit? Make it easy for you.
Great to see it. John Marrosi? That's
unbelievable. Oh, um.
You guys look great. Boomer. I love the
Shades, right? I love the staff. I love what you guys are doing. This is awesome, man. Congrats.
Well, thanks. Yeah, we're, we're loving it. It's been good. How's that then doing?
It's great, right. Everything's great. Obviously, the quadruple header of baseball today.
I got this little Amazon hockey gig coming up. So I'll be heading to Winnipeg for the first ever time.
I'll be in Edmonton for the first ever time. So it's great, man. I can't wait.
How's it? Winnipeg and Edmonton, you lucky done. Wow. You've really, that's, that's run.
runs to use the baseball for now. Listen, five trips to Toronto, Sunday dinners with my parents,
five trips to Montreal to my favorite cities. But one trip to Deadmonton in December and four
trips to Winnipeg, including one in February. Oh, yeah. That one will be dicey.
Well, see, this is awesome because we've wanted to get you on for a long time and we're unsure
about, you know, navigating waters and that sort of thing. And it just so happened that, you know,
the Amazon thing comes out. Now we get adding on the opening day.
of baseball playoffs. So this is perfect.
So with baseball, but I do
want to go there. I said,
hey, you're getting some of that Bezos money.
There's some of that to be.
It feels like that's the thing.
You can get in, get in with Amazon.
That's where you want to be.
So what is it exactly and kind of walk us through
because the announcement came out last week?
No, for sure, man.
So what happened was, I was actually at the Emmys,
the night that MLB tonight. We won the Emmy for Best Studio
Show, which was shocking. I don't think anyone had us
picking because we beat Sports Center,
NFL Live, NBA,
down in PTI, pardon the interruption.
So after I'm seeing, Amina, who's saying there's an old ESPN friend.
And, you know, we're both mocking ESPN the fact that we won and blah, blah, blah.
And she's at Amazon now.
She goes, well, we'll keep in touch.
And the next thing she calls, might have an Amazon gig for you.
And she starts explaining it to me.
And she goes, you're going to be the host of Prime Monday Night Hockey.
And it's always featuring a Canadian team and it's primarily in Canada.
And I said, Amina, I pride myself in Canadian humility.
But I'm telling you right now, you're not going to find anyone better for the job with me.
I said, we just want an Emmy for God's sake.
So let's just do that now.
Just give me the job.
I said, this is going to be great.
I said, of course.
I was born in Toronto.
I grew in Kingston.
I know these Canadian teams like anyone.
Of course, I still love and follow hockey.
But having lived in America 14 years, I understand what Amazon's about, the way you guys do things.
I watch Amazon's Thursday night football, you know, way you want to use analytics, metrics, et cetera.
So I said, let's get this done.
So I have to give credit to MLB Network fellas because if I was at ESPN, they demand exclusivity.
If you work for ESPN, that's it.
That's all you do.
NBC, CBS.
Thank God MLB Networks.
And you know what?
It's the MLB off-season.
You want to do this?
You want to go to Winnipeg so badly?
You want a bison burger?
All right, fine.
Good luck to you.
I can't wait, fellas.
It's going to be awesome.
And by the way, it's all old friends.
Andy Petrillo, who I worked at the years ago to MLSC,
Mark Askin, legendary Hawkingon and Canada producer.
He just called the yesterday.
We want to talk about Pete Rose.
I took the under on his death, but regardless.
Jody's Shelley, Thomas Hickey.
I work with those guys at NHL Network.
Of course, Jody's great with the Blue Jackets and Hickey,
this stuff with the Islanders.
So it's great, man.
Of course, John Forson's been a cold hockey for it.
So I can't wait for us.
It's going to be awesome.
Yeah, Hickey's a Calgary guy, which is one of the nicest guys going.
It's interesting, I guess, to hear it that way that Amazon would,
a venture for Amazon that kind of primarily, oh, get those electrolytes in you,
that's focused on Canadian markets, Canadian games that kind of, we don't,
we kind of get the shaft up here.
That's not, yeah.
We're not overly supportive.
No, you're 100% right, guys.
The way it was, they go, no, I just said it's always two Canadian teams.
They go, well, ideally, but no matter what, it's one Canadian team, and ideally, it's always going to be in Canada.
So I think of the schedule, the 25 games, I'm doing 20 of them.
And like I said, five Toronto, five Montreal, one Ottawa, one Edmonton, four, Winnipeg.
I think Andy's got a couple in Montreal, but it's primarily in Canadian cities.
And then there's some U.S. cities as well, I got one in Chicago, one in Columbus.
The weird thing is, I don't know how the schedule goes, but I'm like, no flyers, no Rangers, no Bruins.
I would have thought for sure.
I'm like, oh, I'll have a game in Boston, a game in New York and me, Philly, close to where I'm in New Jersey.
We didn't get a devil's game, though.
So I'll have at least one home game.
I can drive and I have to take a flight.
But I'm curious, fellas, you guys have flown.
You know what it's like?
How the hell do you get to Winnipeg from Newark?
Newark to Minnesota, Minnesota to Winnipeg?
I mean, that's going to be tough.
Toronto.
So from Toronto, Newark to Toronto, Toronto, to Toronto, to Winnipeg.
Yeah, I would expect it would be, yeah.
Yeah, the running joke is that, Dan, that Winnipeg doesn't have an airport.
so that you've got it regardless of where you go.
I'm not sure.
I think they do, though.
If Finder were here, he would tell you that they don't have an airport.
Well, that is cool.
So when you were doing the Zoom call there,
hey, we've got, sorry, can I just, I got my Emmy in the road here.
What's got a job, did you, a potential gig?
Well, that's awesome.
And you know what?
I'm all in as well.
You will be the best at that.
That's fantastic.
I'll never forget, boom, you were so gracious to me.
if anybody, nobody was more supportive me than you when I did the NHL draft.
Like, you seem like you discovered kryptonite or like,
like, look like, holy smokes, the NHL draft was eight hours.
And Anthony had somehow did this entire bloody thing on four days notice.
Nobody was nicer than you.
And I still think about the guys.
Alexia Lefrenier, who's coming to his own, had a great playoff last year,
quit and buy Bill the Kings was number two overall.
Tim Stood still went to Ottawa.
That's about all I got.
Remember the first few picks?
That's pretty good.
That's what you're doing better than I.
But no, it's...
What it is is just the appreciation.
When you host different things,
you look at things differently.
And everybody else is, well, I wonder who they're picking.
And I wonder what the pick's going to be.
I'm watching, is he got, is he getting in his ear?
Who's talking to him?
What's happening there?
Has he got these notes?
Is this off the top of his head?
But you've just always been one of the most talented guys going out there.
So I'm,
I'm happy to see it.
So now you mentioned the cooperation with MLB network.
Kind of walk us through that gig and I guess everything that you're doing,
because obviously we haven't talked to you in a long time.
Yeah, so M.OB Network's been great.
MLB Tonight's the show that I do.
So that's like our Sports Center.
That's our daily sports show.
So it's been awesome, man.
Honestly, I get to do the evening show, setting up all the games and lots of live looks.
I'm sure you guys know this as well because beyond being broadcasters, your sports fans.
It's interesting how, like, sports tastes have waned and changed.
Like, people say to me, oh, you don't watch much ESPN anymore.
I said, well, no.
Like, I mean, I don't know how many people watch sports internet anymore because you have all highlights in your phone.
And I don't know about your kids.
My kids just want to watch YouTube and they get their highlights there.
And I said it's a different generation of us growing up watching Primetime and Chris Brom and all the rest of it.
So I find what is great about MLE Network is the focus is on the games, which is what it should be.
So we're setting up the games, we're showing you games.
It's live looks, it's highlights.
And that's kind of where it's at.
So MLB Network's been great to me, man.
Five years have been there.
And again, the quadruple header today.
And the great thing about those guys, they'll let you do other gigs.
I can come on and talk with you guys.
I can do whatever I like.
So I've been so fortunate, fellas, seriously.
Yeah, it's nice to have that flexibility.
I know that's one of the things you hear from people at ESPN.
You can't do anything.
You're boxed right in.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A hundred percent.
You can't even, I'm trying to think of anything, even podcasts like that.
They demand exclusivity.
Now, I guess in their defense, they'd say, well, it's ESPN where the big boys in the block
we're taking care of.
But anytime somebody can make a little bit extra scratch and you're saying, no, I mean,
that could always be a little frustrating.
And sometimes is not even about money.
It's just maybe a speaking engagement, something you're passionate about having to go through them all the time.
It can be unnerving.
But it is.
Red and I were talking yesterday.
Do you like Rhett's mustache, by the way?
It's new.
No, I love it because I really do feel like I'm,
I feel like I'm in Canada, quite frankly.
Like, as I see Brett's looking, we didn't have the mustache.
I go, I kind of, like, I'm in Canada right now.
I get the whole look of it.
It feels very Canadian.
And boom, the fact that you've got the sunglasses on, it's great.
It's kind of like an homage, Howard Stern, Bob McCowan.
Sure, yeah, yeah.
The lights are so bright.
Is that what it is?
So bright, yeah.
Well, and you know what?
I with I, people don't need to see me with my eyes water and I'm dabbing away.
Dap,
yeah,
for an hour and a half.
Uh,
red did ask,
he said,
you think this is we're getting into soup weather,
hey?
It's,
we're getting into soup time.
And it was not,
not sad.
We were very happy.
Yeah,
the temperatures are going down.
It's time to definitely get the,
uh,
the soup on.
No,
one of my boys is like that.
The other day,
I was like lamenting.
I go,
okay,
we're going from like plus 27 down to like,
early 20s to get called like,
because I can't wait until I get to put a hat on.
I got,
what?
I said, we called a tooth back home, buddy.
I know you're American here.
He's going, oh, I got to put my beanie.
It's not a beanie.
He said, I can't wait take my jacket on a hat and get some hot chocolate.
I said, wow, in this American, we got some Canadian.
But speaking of good soups, mushroom soup to me, it's fantastic.
It's so funny you guys brought up.
The other day someone said to me, they go, I know this great restaurant, New Jersey,
has got the best mushroom suit you are eating.
So I cannot wait until I get frigid, and I'll be heading there for some mushroom soup.
Nice.
Best ever.
Now, have you got a little Yankee love going on under?
I'm not looking for you to de-robe, but I feel like I see...
My son is a huge Aaron Judge fan.
Like, he's the biggest Aaron Judge guy ever.
And I said, you know what?
I can support the Yankees.
Boom, your team, but you're a Yankees fan.
That's right, buddy.
I said, because of Aaron Boone, of course, my old buddy from ESPN.
So I said, you know what, pal?
Between us, three, and everyone watching, we're pulling for the Yankees this year.
We could have a subway series.
I mean, this would be pretty remarkable.
No one's mentioning it, but you could have Yankees-Mets subway series.
How about my buddy, Booney?
Again, Boomer, it's your team.
I don't know you tell you.
every year, 90 plus wins in the playoffs,
the exception of last year,
number one to see the American League,
and every year it feels like Boney's fighting for his managerial life.
This guy's a great manager.
They all like him, they all love him.
They're the number one.
What more do you want here?
Now, I get it.
You want to win the World Series?
Without that, it's a failure.
I get that.
But I don't think my man gets enough credit.
It's funny.
When I worked with Boney,
he was such a calm, laid back guy,
and then one of the first times I saw a manager for the Yankees
got thrown out of a game.
He's dropping F-bomb's like, let me tell you.
That guy was like a church-going choir boy.
I never heard one profanity in his mouth.
You step back when the white lines and all of a sudden,
savages at the box.
That's right.
I got savages in there.
There's got a bunch of them.
I got savages in there.
Red and I,
we were talking yesterday that even if you're not a diehard baseball fan,
it's hard not to get pulled in.
Playoffs start today.
You are in October.
We had an example yesterday why baseball playoffs.
It wasn't even a playoff game.
It kind of was that the first game between the Braves and the Mets.
And I don't know if you saw what happens.
We saw exactly, it feels like no lead is ever safe.
It's a roller coaster of emotions.
And I would guess for guys like you that are,
you're right in the teeth of it on a day-to-day basis,
how great this is.
Are you, do you travel?
Are you going on the road at all as the playoffs continue?
I won't be traveling.
But I'll be in the studio,
watching all the games.
And you're right.
But yesterday it was unbelievable because I was at the studio.
We're doing this all MLB shows.
So basically it's, you know, the nominees for all the best players of their position,
top six or seven players,
I said Steve Phillips and Dan Pleasack.
And we have the game on.
I see it's 2-0 Braves.
And everyone's so negative for your Mets fan, right?
They're always that's such doomsday or so the game's over.
And the way home, I hear the Mets take the lead.
Then I was going to call.
I heard the Braves to believe.
I said, I got to get the hell home.
I got to go watch the TV.
And I sell indoors from run.
I said, this is incredible.
And it makes me think about, like, of course, I love baseball.
I love it no matter what regular season and playoff spring training.
But I have so many people I know who say, well, I'm a casual sports fan,
but I lock him for October.
Like, I'm not going to be watching.
watching baseball in August. But October baseball, I'm in. And days like the quadruple header,
233, 438. I remember being back at Ryerson. And it would be like a one and a four and a seven and a
10. And I'm like, oh my God, I'm clear my schedule. We're getting some pizza and some Pepsi.
I'm just going to be sitting on my ass watching playoff baseball all day. It was no better feeling.
It's the best. And now I will attempt to do that, but I'll have children's true about me.
So I can't exactly pull it off. But it's awesome, man. I think what's great about playoff baseball is this.
In the other sports, I go to sell a friend of mine, I said, you know, the Celtics won.
They're the one seat and they won.
You're okay.
In hockey, the Panthers were expected to do well.
They did well.
In football, the chiefs weren't the one seed, but again, it's Mahomes.
No one bets against Mahomes.
In baseball last year, it was Rangers and Diamondbacks.
If there's nobody in the right mind who expected that to be the World Series two wildcard teams.
So I think with baseball, the unpredictability is what's so fun.
The two one seeds are what, Yankees and Dodgers?
I'll tell you right now, it ain't going to be Yankees and Dodgers.
It just doesn't work that way.
Would it be incredible? Of course it would.
We'd get Freeman and Mookiee and Motani and Soto and Judge and Cole.
It could have happened. There'll be a couple opposites along the way.
I think the Dodgers starting pitching is a little bit shaky.
I do think the Yankees could go all the way, but it could be Yankees Phillies.
It could be Guardians, not Brewers, but Guardians' is a great team this year.
So I think looking at all those different potentials and possibilities makes baseball so fun.
Bob Costas put it really well one time.
I had him on, we were talking, and he said he did, you know, with playoff baseball, it's like nothing happens and then everything happens.
You're just kind of watching them casually.
And also when you lean in, you go, and then one hit,
and you go, oh, my God, the whole game was changed.
And that was like that yesterday for the bets.
Yeah, they just chipped away at it.
Now, the Guardians, were they your pick that I see?
Yeah, I may have lost my mind because I really want to pick the Yankees for Booney and for my son,
but I said, you know what?
Everyone's going to pick the Yankees.
It's an easy pick.
So here's the thought process in the Guardians.
And a lot of it is, of course, being Canadian.
Because they got Josh Nailer, who's Canadian.
They got Bow Nailer, who's Canadian.
And I just think the general vibe of this team is that in the playoffs,
Bullpens can do great.
Here's my one quibble with playoff baseball.
The regular season and the postseason feel different.
Like in football or hockey or basketball, it's the same sport.
Playoff baseball is different because they have more off days.
And what ends up happening is that you really only need like two starting pitchers.
And that's a lot of bullpen games.
So it's so weird from when we grew up, we'd watch, you know, Morrison Smolts in 91.
And you'd have these great starting pitch.
Even 2019, the Nationals is a great starting pitching led by Strasbourg.
Now it's kind of like, well, just go one to the order and then empty that bullpen.
The Detroit Tigers are in the playoffs
after being 10 games down August 11th.
Since August 11th, they're 29 and 11th.
They just went out of their minds.
Couldn't stop winning.
And what happened is you go, well, who was the star?
Or Terrick Schuble was great.
Okay, he's knowing the Siong.
He's the best pitcher.
Who else?
That's a bunch of dudes.
Like, they just roll guys out.
They just bunch of bullpen guys.
I'm like, all right.
So it's weird as a fan because you go,
I used to just be able to think,
here's your three starting pitchers.
Okay, small, it's clavin, et cetera.
Maddox, and then we'll just figure it out.
Now it's a good.
Throw a bunch of arms at you.
So long story short, Cleveland Boomer has an incredible bullpen.
And so I said, all right, there's more built-in octaves in the playoffs.
You can rest and recover.
Claudey is the best closure in the game.
They have offense.
Jose Ramirez, by the way, was one home run away from being a 40-40 guy.
And another 40.
40 doubles, 40-sulled basis, 39 home runs.
Josh Naylor again, Mississauga, Ontario.
Stephen Kwan's a great player.
So I said, you know what?
Guardians are a Tuesday.
They still have the buy.
I've got Guardians, Yankees, ALCS, Guardians win.
Cleveland has not won a World Series since 1948.
it'd be a hell of a story for a much maligned city.
I'm going Guardians' Phillies.
Nice.
Oh, what a party.
That would be.
They're ready in Philly.
They're always ready in Philly.
To Rett's point, speaking of party.
So again, Major League Baseball, Fox executives,
we want Dodgers, Inc., of course, the star power.
I started to look at it.
I go, what would be the most upsetting World Series?
Like, what would be the World Series
that, like, only I would watch?
And I think Guardians' brus might be in.
Brewers, yeah, for sure.
How often are you two going to be saying,
How about that Royals Brewer's World Series last night?
Yeah.
I mean, you think about this baseball season
and everybody having fun at the expense of the White Sox.
And I got Soroka's Jersey's Park, Calgary kid playing in Chicago,
having a tough year between that and watching what Otani did this year.
It's amazing that we're still,
you're still getting things that are almost generational,
things that you've never seen in your life.
You're still getting now in Major League Baseball or in sport general.
And having Otani in the playoffs, that may be a reason to feel good about watching the Dodgers.
I'm not sure.
No, without question.
I think it's funny, when you look at the sport overall, like my buddy Dan Levertover was chiding
me saying, you know, the sport that you love so much, there's only like four baseball players
that everyone knows.
And he goes to everyone, they go, he goes, if he's the top 50 most popular athletes in America.
He goes, Otoni's incredible, judge is incredible.
And he goes, like, you know, I go, Mookiee Betts.
He goes, okay, Bryce Harper, he goes, that's it.
Because nobody else knows what these guys are.
So you're trying to, you try to insult me and say baseball is no longer once, was popular.
Let me tell you this.
70 million people watched games this year.
So most since 2019.
Ratings on Fox and ESPN up 8%.
Rating's the MLB Network up 9%.
Jersey sales for Otani alone through the roof.
And I said, you might want to say it's just the Otani effect.
But baseball's in a great spot.
I understood his point, which is that, you know, in the 1978 World Series, 4 million people watched.
Last year's World Series was, I think, eight or nine million.
But guess what?
We didn't have Netflix back then.
We didn't have TikTok.
We had three channels.
So there was anything else to watch.
Well, I guess I'm watching the World Series.
So there's more options now.
It's a different environment.
I get that football so powerful here in America.
Hockey's so powerful back home.
But baseball is still in a great spot.
And it goes to what you said, boomer, which is Otani.
The Otani effect is so strong.
He's the number one in terms of Jersey sales.
He's obviously a global icon.
But there's people who wouldn't know a baseball from a football.
And they go, oh, that Otani guy, huh?
He's pretty special.
54 home runs, 59 stolen bases.
Like those are just staggering numbers.
I remember Faco 40, 40,
in 1980, I was 10 years old.
42 runs, 40 stolen bases.
You go, wow, this guy's freak.
Big, strong, so fast.
54 and 59.
And you try to get these poo-pooers who go,
oh, 59 stolen bases.
The stolen bases are different today, right?
You can only throw over once.
They've got the pitch clock now.
It's kind of like football.
Now, like a defensive lineman.
Once it goes to one, you just run.
You're just going on the snap count.
Same thing as a stolen base.
Otani knows, but he threw over once.
He disentangled once.
I'm going.
Let's take this to two seconds.
I'm going,
be that as it may.
Was everyone stealing 100 bases?
Well, no.
Was Otani still second the most stolen basis in the National League?
Yes, so it's not like everyone's Vince Coleman all of a sudden.
He's still unique, still runs like a gazelle.
I watched Mookie Betts on Jimmy Kimmel last night.
And Jimmy said to him, he goes, you know, what's it?
This is a funny question.
He was, what's it?
Like, you're this great player.
You're incredibly talented.
And then Otani shows up, and I'm like, you can't beat.
You can't match this guy.
And Mookie last.
He goes, I mean, obviously, I can't pitch.
I can, you know, Mookiee's an incredible bowler, good basketball,
but I can't match this guy.
And he goes, what about speed?
He was, you're faster.
He goes, no, Mookie's, of course he's faster than me.
Like, if we ran our foot races again, he blows up.
This guy's six, five, he runs a good gazelle.
So I only met him once.
Met Otani at the Ulster game this year.
We had all the Dodgers together.
So Tani, Freeman, Betts, and Will Smith.
And O'Tonni was on the other side of me.
And I wish I would have, like, a minute or two just to Kibbitt's just, you know,
so I could tell this story to my grandkids one day.
Oh, that time I met showing Otani.
But he was great.
Like he was, he was classy, he was gracious.
Obviously went through the interpreter.
Freeman was a little more accessible because since I mentioned Canada,
I said because his dad was boarding Windsor, mom was in Peterborough.
So he's definitely got some affinity for us.
But that star power on that Dodgers team, again, their pictures, what concerns me.
It goes Yamamoto, who of course came over from Japan, has been really good for them.
Flaherty, who was a great trade deadline acquisition.
But after that, it gets a little bit shaky.
Walker Bueller's really struggled this season.
Landon Naxe are a rookie as a four-starter.
I don't think L.A.
wins the World Series because of their pitching isn't strong enough.
But having said that Otani's first time in the playoffs, boom, like the amount of excitement
you're going to get for every Dodgers game and they're going to start playing on Saturday,
it's going to be amazing.
And again, best case scenario is Otani balls out and the Dodgers make some noise.
Yeah, waited so long for, you know, between him and Trout, when are these guys going to play?
Obviously, with Trout's a different story.
But I almost want to see him around for a while.
I was not saying
For hockey,
some guys need to go into the playoffs
and have to learn what the playoffs is like.
Like,
is the pressure,
it's always been big on Otani, I'm sure.
Is there anything that there's no chance he's failing?
No,
but I'm with you,
as far as the whole point of the pressure being on him,
because you're right.
Like Ted Williams is arguably the greatest leader of all time.
Once in the World Series,
he didn't play well.
It was like the 1945 World Series.
I think we had five for 20.
and like it haunted him until he died.
And then he's accidentally frozen.
And his head is floating away somewhere right now in a freezer.
But point being, you only get so many opportunities.
And Mike Trout famous things, only had one opportunity of the playoffs.
And he went like two for eight or something and one for 12.
Like it was just, they lost in three games that was it.
Is it fair to see Mike Trost not even postseason player?
Of course not.
He only had one opportunity.
But that might be the only opportunity he ever gets.
He plays for an Angels team, which just lost 96 games.
And he hasn't been the same player because the injuries have crushed him.
So it does happen.
Ernie Banks is one of the great shortups ever, never played in the playoffs.
So I'm with you, Rhett.
If you're Otani, you have to, I know in your head you're thinking,
while I'll be in the playoffs every year, I won the Dodgers.
Well, not necessarily.
Probably because the wild card system, more teams get in now from those other players
I mentioned Banks and Williams.
But you have to approach the situation.
Like, I'm the best player in the world.
I'm going to get a minimum of four at bats a game.
There's going to be at least three games.
So in those 12 at bats, if I go six for 12, everyone will always say,
I'm one of the greatest players they've ever seen.
and I'm going to go bonkers.
I'm going to carry this team.
Like, think about his flair for the dramatic.
When he was on the verge of 50-50,
he does so and just with the most outrageous basis
what you've ever seen in your life.
Three home runs, two stolen bases,
10 RBI.
Like, honestly, if you said to me,
what's more likely?
Otani goes, he gets a hit in everything left bat.
Let's hear this.
He gets on base in every single left bat in the playoffs.
Either he gets a hit by pitch or a walk or a hit,
or he doesn't get a hit the entire double-blest.
It's more likely he gets on base.
every single time.
That's his player for the dramatic.
So four games today, it's the quadruple header, as you've talked about.
It's your dream come true.
Now, do you have work duties today?
Because you said you're going to have kids around.
What's going on?
So the good news is they have work off today.
So first pitch is an hour from now.
But I missed the days, fellas.
Again, it was one, four, seven, and tens.
You really could just stagger it and just watch baseball.
And, you know, if there's a break, it's a while, smoke a few heaters and make a few phone,
get back to the game.
Now you can't do that.
And I'm so annoyed because it's because it's television, damn it,
because they have the games later in the day because less people watch them.
What about the unemployed?
What about those of us that work at night?
Wait, wait, wait, why can you do a game at noon?
Like that would be a noon baseball game?
I'd be ecstatic.
I watch the whole game before the kids get home.
But yeah, 2.30 game and 3 o'clock.
My kids come home at 3.
I want to watch two innings.
And they're going to cut, but we all know this with parenting.
A couple iPads.
They go a long way.
All right.
Hey, kids, there's an iPad.
If you need me, peace and you're all.
Let me know.
Yeah, solid parenting.
Or you could move to the, you could move out here because we're 1230, 208, 330 and 630.
Yeah, see, that's fantastic.
Pretty good.
Mountain time, great for sports, Edna, really good for sports.
Pretty good.
So what are we doing for Grub then?
Because if you've got four games, I don't want you waste in a way, we're going to need some sustenance.
He's not a snacker, but what are we eating today?
DeJurno pizza, baked to 450, put it in their tiny minutes, rising crust or some crap,
whatever, sure. Kids will like that, take it out there.
The big thing is you got to let it wait five minutes.
I think that's Zachroy.
I start cutting up.
Oh, no, Dad, Dad, it's too hot.
Wait, wait, come on.
Sheav it in your mouth.
Look at it.
Watch my mouth on fire.
Okay, just give it five minutes.
Then we'll cut.
Pizza and Pepsi go in a long way.
Fantastic.
Fantastic.
Buddy is so good to see you to talk to you.
Congrats on the hockey thing.
You do deserve it.
You're the best at it and can't wait to be watching you.
and I would love to get you on a few times here
over the course of the winter and catch up again.
Yeah, whatever you want.
Bumer Red's great to be reunited.
By the way, how's Pinder going?
Before you take a bye to me, how's my man Pinder do you?
I don't know.
He's in Australia.
He's Dan Enda.
Yeah, he's in Australia.
He's still a part of the show.
He's not like been excommunicated.
Well, we're thinking about it.
We're having a chat after the show,
just how smoothly things seem to go.
You get to talk a lot and interact.
It's something.
Yeah.
you get to finish thoughts without somebody jumping in on you.
And it's weird.
I'm not used to it.
I didn't mean to talk to bear, but he's down in Australia.
Okay, hopefully he enjoys those koala bears and those kangaroos and comes back to me.
He'll be very disappointed that we had you on when he wasn't here because, of course, he's a big fan of yours too.
Of course.
We'll make a return of appearance whenever you guys want.
You're a beauty.
Thanks, buddy.
Enjoy the baseball.
Take care of that family.
All right.
Thanks, boom.
Thanks, thanks for you guys as well.
There you go.
The best.
That was a lovely surprise.
How about it?
Adnan, Verk.
Olin.
I was like,
well,
how did you get O and Olin?
You got a buster?
It's amazing.
No,
he's,
he's super talented,
man.
What he does,
he's one of those guys,
Duthy on TSN,
when he's doing that free agency show,
they just make it look so,
we're just having a conversation.
Oh,
we're talking back and forth.
And you got guys near and you're trying,
where are we going?
What are we doing?
Who have we got?
They just make it look so good.
Yeah,
he must have a good memory of him.
Well,
yeah.
right like so much energy zip a lot of zip going out for some heaters didn't
nobody going over some heaters between the game anyway there you go a little ad damnberg
for you i got to get down and we're got to go to have that mushroom soup too yeah where was that
jersey somewhere in jersey that's a good you talk about areas with good chow so good in there
New Jersey.
Anyway, we'll get back to the Pinder report.
Oddly enough, because we talked about Swamen there,
back to hockey, just a couple of little things before we move on.
Some news and notes, some odds and ends.
The oilers, they had Mike Hoffman in on a PTO.
They have released him.
He's done, eh?
He's not going to be an oiler anyway.
He's done, eh?
I think he might be done.
Sammy Blay, who was a ranger in a blue.
He was in Vancouver.
Hard hitter.
You got to keep your head up and he's out there.
He was released from Vancouver and they're that PTO.
So we'll start to see some of these bodies,
maybe resurfaced somewhere else or maybe,
maybe there.
Maybe we've seen enough.
Maybe.
The Utah hockey club.
I know you're a big fan of the hockey club.
Love the hockey club.
They spent two billion,
something like that for this hockey team
somewhere in the neighborhood.
A lot of money.
You got to make it back somehow.
That Ryan Smith, he's a smart guy, he's a billionaire,
he's got this team.
You would think it's going to be tough.
Here's the concessions.
Now, maybe this is pre-season,
but at their home game the other night,
and if you can't see it or you're not watching,
bottled water $2,
popcorn three bucks,
nachos three, hot dogs three,
ice cream three.
Are you kidding me?
Good on them.
kind of the way you'd want it to be.
You want to come support my team?
I'm going to take care of you.
Yeah.
Thank you.
That's dirt.
That's American.
It is.
Yeah.
But they're American.
So I'm not sure how that works.
So they make American dollars.
So it's less.
Okay.
Yeah.
That's it.
You've got a nice little pay raise.
You're not spending American money.
No, I'm rich now.
Yeah.
You're so loaded.
So good.
And this one,
it's not really a
prospect story
because Jeremy Brodour
is 27 years old. He is the son of
Martin Brodor who is one of the greatest
to ever do it. But last night
preseason game, Jeremy got the
start against the New York Rangers
for the New Jersey Devils.
Where his old man played. Here's a little
love for Jeremy Brodard.
By Adam Saccour, another 20 year old.
The young prospect for the Rangers
is off and running. Second round pick two years ago.
It's a card to the backhand.
Oh, Rodor keeps it out.
Nice to open up the five hole, but Jeremy Broder shuts it down right there and makes an excellent save.
God of love it.
See the stick, the paddle?
Well, I see it.
Yeah.
Well, Kenny Danico sounds like a wrestler.
He's called wrestling.
He's called wrestling.
Yeah.
I mean, hey, how about it?
It's, I think maybe his old man had the butterfly.
His movement was maybe a little more smooth than that.
but maybe the best ever but yeah yeah maybe the best ever either way you know we talked to yesterday about baseball
all these nice moments there's a nice moment that is a nice moment that is a nice moment so to baseball now ad now we
kind of talked about and i i admit i did not see i knew what was going on yesterday met's braves double
header if either team sweeps the two games Arizona is in if they split the braves and the
Mets get in. So game one, Mets are down three nothing heading into the eighth. They give up six,
or they put up six in the top of the inning to go up six to three. So the Braves have shit themselves.
They then give up four in the bottom. So now Atlanta's back in front to the ninth home run,
up by two, back and forth. Here's a look at, it's kind of, maybe hard to kind of wrap your
head around. This was the winning percentage.
So it was really bad in the bottom of the 7th,
and then, oh, hey, look at us.
We're up by a couple.
And then, oh, shit, top of nine.
Okay.
So the Mets, they did take game one by a score of 8, 7.
Arizona sitting at home just cheering on the Mets.
Come on, boys.
You can do it.
Let's go.
3-0 loss.
Braves come back and win game two.
So you do wonder if there was a bit of a wink, wink, wink,
between the two teams because they knew.
Screwing over the Diamondbacks.
So either way, the Diamondbacks are done.
Braves and Mets are in.
There it is.
Cleveland, eh?
The Guardians.
So he's picking.
So he's picking.
It sounded like maybe he had some buyer's remorse there a little bit, but.
Well,
I was kind of crazy.
Philadelphia,
good team,
the Dodgers,
they are,
and we'll look at the bet three,
six five odds,
spoiler alert.
They're at the top of the group.
Yankees card.
But it starts today,
12,
these are mountain time starts.
12.
1332 tigers at Astros,
208 Royals at Orioles,
332 Mets at Brewers,
and 638 Braves at Padres.
So yeah, the Braves were,
it was a home game for the Braves,
so they get on the flight,
and the Mets would go from Atlanta to Milwaukee.
Is there a direct flight for that one?
I think so.
Do you have to do the,
the Toronto milk run for that one too?
through, yeah, mini and into
Millie Wock. I couldn't get to Milwaukee.
No?
Try to go there in June, I think.
Flights were canceled.
Canceled. Twice.
Had to connect.
Almost not worth it.
Nope. Almost not worth it.
Adnan mentioned Pete Rose,
baseball legend dying at the age of 83,
24 year playing career. No one had more hits than Pete Rose,
4,256 of them.
rookie of the year MVP led the league in hits when he was 40 years old
just an amazing ball player 4,000 recorded hit number 4,000 as a member of the Montreal Expos.
Competitive?
Very competitive. Some might say overly competitive.
Burled into catcher Ray Fossi at the All-Star game in 1970, just blew him off.
I still love watching that.
Yeah, started a scrap against when a runner was on base in the postseason.
He's a lot.
He was a lot.
And of course, people will probably know while serving as Reds manager in 1989,
received a lifetime ban from baseball for placing bets on his own team.
There was the baseball player who was very intense.
Some people even couldn't take this guy.
He's too much.
Off the field, degenerate to a certain degree for sure.
Mixed reviews?
A lot of gambling.
A lot of it on his own team.
There was a lot of bets, a lot of bets, a lot of bets, many bets.
today and this was not, you didn't have, you weren't doing it from your, your phone out.
You had a buddy.
Yeah, you had a buddy who had a buddy.
Spent time in prison for filing a false tax return in 2017, a woman alleged that Rose had
sex with her in the early 70s when she was 14 or 15 and he was in his 30s.
And the whole thing was, should be in the Hall of Fame based on merit, but was not going
into the Hall of Fame.
And he, he wrote the,
He would never admit to it and then wrote a book and said, yeah, I did it.
And I, I don't know.
It was there was also, there was, because I was reading up on it yesterday, well, there
was a chance you're going to sit down with the commissioner of baseball and you're going to show
remorse and it's, you're going to, I'm doing it the right way.
I'm there no more, no, you're right, no more gambling.
Absolutely not.
I'm going to be straight and narrow.
The same day went to a Vegas casino to do a book signing or something.
It was always in Vegas.
You, uh, you can't help.
yourself we're you're you're done we're we're not giving you any kind of leeway here so yeah
it's uh many many different ways to look at peteros for sure hell of a ball player who are we to
judge who are we to judge monday night football two games two one better than the other
I would suggest.
How'd your bets do?
I got the Jameson Williams,
whatever he was, 48 or whatever yards.
He got that in the one catch.
I think I did sneak in the over right at the end
as Pollard dove in head first for that touchdown.
So I would have hit the over.
The other two, I'm not sure.
Because I had the Seahawks plus four,
and that did not happen.
launch on that one.
But we saw some,
some historic stuff last night.
Where do you want to start, Jack?
Do we want to show,
because history was made.
Jared Goff went 18 of 18.
How about this?
292 yards.
Two throwing, two, like passing touchdowns,
and then caught one on a gadget play.
So there it is.
Most passing yards with zero incompletions in NFL history.
Even old Frank,
Philchalk. Oh, Filchie.
The filter. Most passing guards and most passing attempts in a game with zero
completions with 292. So, uh, yeah, I would not have guessed that would be Jared
Gough. Nope. That'd be somebody I, I don't know. Old Arnie, Herbert and Pete Bethard
there, eh? So the, yeah, the, uh, the, the, uh, the lions win and the dolphins
did not win. Lines are good. Lines are good. How about this run?
watching this one earlier this morning.
So is it?
Football's a tough sport, is it?
My goodness.
Was it week one when they were in overtime and they just couldn't stop him?
And he just kept running.
Yeah, the whole first drive.
I guess we'll just keep giving Montgomery the ball.
Don't be slowed him down.
Seven yards, 12 yards, eight yards.
Touchdown.
All right, we win.
So there you go.
But it was a good one.
the the Seahawks were not the better team, but they, oh, they found a way to keep swinging and coming back.
The guy still stumbling.
Oh, he's, yeah.
He was not expecting that to happen.
That was not the outcome.
I got the tag.
Yeah, that he was bracing himself for.
And, and yeah, so the dolphins, and I said it yesterday, you go back two weeks,
to a Tung of Ailoa gets injured in the late third quarter.
So between that quarter of football and then the next week, so that's five.
They scored three points in those five quarters.
And it didn't get a lot better last night.
So for Dolphins fans, we got H-Chan, we got Mostert.
We've got Hill.
Hill and Waddle and we're rolling.
Why not us?
And then Tonga Vailoa goes out and it's not been very good.
Dolphins fans.
And for one guy specifically, it was really going poorly for him last night.
I mean, this night can't get any worse, man.
You got Mason Rudolph in my girlfriend's DMs,
as I'm watching him absolutely fucking sell my Dolphins money line.
Every bet I have, I mean, the guy's bummed.
I don't care.
I told you it was good, though.
Dude, he can have you.
I would take a Dolphins win tonight than you.
I'm not even kidding.
This is such a fucking bad game.
I want to go home.
I want to go home.
I want to go home.
With or without you.
With or without.
He can have you.
I would give her a rival.
She needed it right.
Well, I was going to say.
What does it say there?
Still in Miami.
Are you still in Miami?
Mason Rudolph, who, the former Steeler, did come in in this football game.
What's he doing?
So how long was that?
Was he doing it before the game?
Like, when's he?
Half time.
From the bit, from how?
What are we doing?
it's got the check marks and i mean it is the real mason route i don't understand that says check mark
it's a check mark she seems very embarrassed though by it doesn't she oh gosh i can't believe oh my
oh who is this playing oh he's in my dms good on the dude though
focused on what's important i need a win on the money line money that money lied before anything

365.
Let's start with the baseball.
I want to do that first because we were talking about baseball.
Here's what it looks like today.
So tigers, Astros, Royals, Orioles, Mets, Brewers, Braves, Padres.
It's not quite the same as football where you have widespread
sometimes. It's usually, well, run and a half.
Playoffs.
Playoffs.
But if you, again, if you want to do some baseball, you
by all means, you can go in there and the Dodgers are, if you want to call it,
the World Series favorite as far as a betting odd is concerned from Bet365.
But every week we do our NFL picks, our football picks here.
And somebody's, you're, now are you debating or I guess questioning the math on this?
Because we do the tally.
Yeah, the first couple weeks, I think that I've been, well, whoever's doing the tally
hasn't included the right picks for me.
Right.
So here is the overall record after four weeks.
Eight and four for Jack.
Now you said you swept last week.
We talked, they were kind of gross picks.
Did you feel good about them?
No, I kind of changed my strategy.
Did you refer to one by us?
It was an ugly board.
Ugly board.
It was an ugly board.
Yeah.
It worked though.
But you had the Buccaneers.
Had the bucks plus one, the Jags.
plus six something and then the bangles minus four and a half the jacks got close enough hey yeah they did
they're all right is they're garbage yeah yeah well good for you buddy that's yeah we're real
happy for you jack you're at eight and four now red is at seven and five wait now the pirate or the
steelers are lost yeah so you hit that one you know i'm not worried about me i just want to make sure
you didn't get too high on the hog you're just bringing it back down okay thank you spirits are
just a little too high for your liking yeah braggy bragger
seven and five now you had the the bills always as per usual that did not go no i feel like
my heart's in the right place but it's maybe not the best approach to things sure whatever yeah
do you think you'll change it though no no no no no no okay they got a bounce back next
weekend we can't we're going what are they doing bounce back but who are they playing do you
know it doesn't matter okay okay
Good.
Pinder is even across the board now at 6 and 6,
and I am struggling to get above water.
Did I go 2, 1?
You went 2 and 1.
You had the Broncos, the Vikings, and then the bills.
Yeah, I did take the bills.
You didn't have the Broncos.
I had the Broncos.
I also had the Broncos.
Did you copy me?
No.
You went with the horses.
Oh, yeah, the horses were running.
That's right.
Let the horses run.
Yeah.
Let the,
The Colts, the Broncos, and the Buffalo Bills.
There was no other animal that ran, plus it was the bills, and I had to take him.
Was it a jaguar?
It'll run probably if it's spooked.
Not big like a horse.
Anyway.
So there you go.
I'm going to continue.
Not going to change my philosophy just yet.
I'm going to continue to pick the games that I feel.
What's your philosophy?
I just, what do you feel in your gut?
right at the start bank don't don't overthink it what do you think rapid fire just i do that it gets me
in trouble or you know what you what some guys do is they'll here's here's the game what do you think
the line should be pick your line and then go in and see what it is and if it's way well this is great
because i think it should be here and if it's you know what i mean unless you're an idiot and you have
no idea what it is because if there's one thing for sure Vegas and the guy
guys have picked the lines.
They have no idea what they do it.
No clue.
They're just throwing numbers up there too.
Yeah.
They're going with their gut.
I was thinking about that last night as I'm watching because I was it.
The over under was 37.
Yeah.
In that Dolphins game.
And I was,
it was nine six at the half or whatever it was.
Yes.
Such an idiot.
And then sure is anything.
Points, points, points, points, points.
And less than a minute to go,
Titans are driving.
And they can't take a knee yet.
Like, yeah, they're going to,
they're going to have to try.
score here. They don't want to give the ball away.
And yeah,
just, just over
the over. Razor thin.
Pretty good. Pretty good stuff.

My bets. I had a good week. Finally.
A good week in fantasy and a good week in the betting.
My bet $3.65, we got not topped up,
but some replenishing.
Starts to replenish a little bit?
Some replenishing took place on the weekend.
That was pretty good.
Would have been nice if the bills could have done that.
Would it really help my cause as well.
Yeah, would have done wonders.
Wonders.
Well, Tuesday, right?
You got to go get butter.
Oh yeah, I'm going to stock up.
You need some butter.
Tomorrow's game day.
Wednesday.
Yeah.
Short week.
Not really.
Well, I don't know.
For us it's not, but other people didn't work yesterday.
Some people didn't work yesterday.
Traffic was great.
One thing to get around.
It was unbelievably great.
Issue for Thursday, eh?
Yeah, I think we got it figured out.
That'd be a little bit shorter of a show.
There is an event.
going on on Thursday that I must attend.
Happy to attend, but it's, but we'll be attending.
But it is right about nowish.
It's in this part of the day.
So it's either do the show later, like post 12 noon,
but I know how our guys snap.
So we could do that.
Could.
I'm not sure.
earlier, later, or not at all?
It would have to be really, really early
because the event is like a 930 start.
Do we have to dress up for this?
You want to be there?
You're coming?
Well, I thought so.
I got yelled at by Pinder.
Well, I don't know that.
Oh, he laid it on me.
Did he?
I just assumed you were coming.
Oh, no, I'm the worst human ever.
Oh, dear.
If I don't go.
Really?
So I don't know.
It's kind of an on-air, off-air conversation.
We'll figure it out.
Okay.
Would it still be worth doing if we do it after?
Say we start about 1230?
Is it all lost if we do that?
Do we have to be downtown?
It's somewhere.
Okay, Trump.
Not too far.
It's so close.
I don't know.
Yeah, well, I guess this will talk about it.
Yeah, very good.
Did enough on.
Yeah, it's enough there.
Not a lot coming in.
All right.
So that's going to do it.
Thanks to our buddy at Nanverg for jumping on.
What a shock.
So good.
So good to talk to him.
Flames are playing tomorrow.
Didn't ask him about any movies that are out.
That's true.
I guess we'll have to get him on next time.
We can see what he's doing Thursday.
Jack's very excited.
We just,
we got a super chat.
We can't.
We can't know.
Right, right, right.
All right.
Yeah.
He also wants to do the thing.
Super chat.
Unbiased Homer.
Thank you.
the super chat,
a little, nice little donation to the cost.
We appreciate that.
We need a Lomburg
Pospicil-Clapka fourth line
with Coronado and Hansik
running the first line for the Wranglers
until there's inevitably an injury.
So I think what...
Homer, I'm not against that.
But the Lombard Posposal-Clapka,
that's at the NHL level.
That's your claims fourth line.
And let Coronado and Hansik
do their thing.
Go dominate with the Wranglers,
put up 80 points each, at least.
Yeah.
It feels like that's probably,
and truly, if you had to
roll the dice,
I think he's probably bang on.
Yeah. Barring injury,
and because of the waiver situation,
as we talked about earlier with Pelchay,
Elche is going to stick around.
Coronado and Hansa can go down easily enough,
get tons of ice,
play all situations,
that whole thing.
And when there's an injury,
come on up.
Put him in a spot where they can succeed.
That's right.
And he's unbiased, Homer.
Seems like he's a fan,
but he's unbiased.
That's good.
You're clear-headed.
Yeah.
There's no agenda.
No.
Just.
So thank you.
By Gaddon.
Very biased, but his Yankees.
And everything else here.
Ah, that's a, well,
I'll do it
oh
look
that'll do it
jack's happy
see ya buddies
