Season 11. Episode 8 of the final season titled For Blood, the final episode in part one of a three-part final season.
Now, you got it now? Okay. Welcome. Welcome to Talking Walking Dead.
Welcome to it. Myself, Jeff Fisher, Jason Buttrill, Maximus Fisher. I am DB description.
the Reapers defend Meridian from an incoming herd. Pope suspects Maggie is behind the attack,
while Darrell treads carefully, Alexandria and scramble to protect themselves from a violent storm,
leaves them vulnerable to walkers. I found the episode fascinating. We had some things happen
that were enjoyable, although I will say I didn't hurricanes, I mean, hurricanes and storms were
going through Alexandria, but
it was still a beautiful evening
in Reaper,
Reaper City. So,
it must have been an isolated
super storm over Alexandria
is all I'm saying.
They did, like, walk
quite away from Alexandria.
Yeah, no. I know. I'm just
saying, just saying the weather
is, you know, extremely isolated
during the Walking Dead.
I enjoyed the episode, though, and it was
really, uh,
I expected what's her face to die as well Leah as well as we you know as we got into the episode and we were into, you know, Reaper City and, you know, they saw the rotters coming toward the city and their handling of it.
Thankfully, we did, spoiler alert, we lost him.
We lost them.
Pope is dead.
I did enjoy that death.
It didn't happen the way we wanted it to happen.
Yeah, I agree.
I didn't happen.
Yeah, I think I enjoyed the episode too.
I thought it was, that was good.
It was just nothing that we,
or nothing that I was hoping to happen, happened.
They did it their way.
Whatever.
I mean, apparently, I think they run the show or something,
but I still maintain that if they listen to our podcast,
they'd have a much better show.
I mean, it wasn't our way a better,
ending the lineup.
Yes.
Even the things that we asked for Judith to be doing, that would have been better.
Oh my gosh.
Yes.
I mean, we got what?
One pretty good scene in Alexandria, really?
I mean, fighting the storm.
I mean, we had one really good fighting scene, right?
We had the Walker, grab the little girl.
Judith cuts his hand off and then it gets killed.
And then your girl goes out.
and has a killing spree in front of the house.
Rosita's massacre.
That reveal, though, afterwards was so comical.
I was like, did like a cartoon writer write that after she burst through the door and there's like the light coming.
Oh, wait.
It's almost like this is originally a comic book.
It is almost like that, isn't it?
The comic, I don't think, would have that ridiculous of a reveal.
I was like, it's fine.
They do.
Not with Rosita specifically, but they do.
I was like, come on.
Yeah, they have to.
That was good.
I mean, it was great.
Plus the line, you know, of her coming and still coming off the, the mindset you have to be in to go into, you know, walker destruction mode and stay away from the window.
That's funny.
That reveals, like, something I would do, like, making fun of something.
Like, I go take out the trash, then burst into the back door, like, super dead, and just wait.
and just wait there posing for a little bit.
Wait, you don't do that?
I do do that.
Oh, yeah, okay.
Especially, I've got the yard light position perfectly to shadow me.
It's for the Instagram post.
No problem.
Don't worry about it.
Actually, that would be hilarious.
We have to do that.
So then we, and then the, you know, we got a whole Alexandria thing.
I don't know that I, it was just,
are they fighting a storm and now because of the storm
the monster herd of walkers are coming into the city
and it just I don't know it just felt like it
shouldn't have been what it was to me that's all
it's happened before I think like 57 times
that exact same scenario so I don't mind like
I never minded that scene like in other shows
because it's just kind of cool watching them fight walkers you know
and defend their home.
But in this case,
it just seems kind of unneeded when we're trying to like push towards the end of this story.
We're going to do this again for half an episode.
I don't know.
And the cliffhanger is we're still there in the storm and water is coming through into the basement.
And that's where the girls are.
And I just,
I don't know.
It just seems like it was pointless.
Yeah.
I'm there with you.
I'm there with you.
But I mean,
what piss me out the most about it is if Judith asks,
can I help you say yes yes
thank you
thank you
they did they actually did a little part
segment on that specific thing
in the show that comes on after World Beyond
they specifically said the reason they did that
is because there's this little part in the back of all their heads
like we don't want Judith to get hurt
that's what well yeah I mean and we talked about that right
I mean they still we talked about that on this show
where we you know they still you know they want you in the in the show to believe that they still want them to be children and they're fighting to keep that you know that child like shine in their eye that twinkle in the children's eye but that's already gone ship has sailed with her yeah that's already long gone man long gone specifically with her and herschel like specifically her and herschel
yeah i mean they've been through it
like r j and gracy no
they still have that but judith and herschel definitely not
Judith is like they're
she's like in training to be their
weapon of mass destruction
you you culture that
in the future when she gets into our 20s
if there's a problem you just point her in the direction
and it's so that's how you should be looking at this now
yes
she is the the
She's the ruler.
I mean,
she is the ruler to be and,
and will be very soon.
So you definitely mold that.
Yeah.
By hiding her away with the other kids is not molding that.
You're stunting her growth and stop it.
And at some point,
she fights back from that, right?
Enough is enough.
How many of you do I have to kill to make my point?
I don't think she'll kill any of her family,
but.
So then let's go back to Reaper City for a little bit.
To the Marri-A-R-R-A.
It was fascinating to see that play out.
I really, I was fascinated by Daryl opening up his heart to Leah.
And you knew that she wasn't in all the way.
She was into Daryl, but she's already bought into
reaper land.
She's bought into
Reaperland.
So it was fascinating
to see her
sell out Daryl
and save him
kind of at the same time.
Yeah,
there was this,
I was still hoping
for the outcome
that I wanted,
that she was going to run off
with him.
But there was like,
right when they took,
right when she took out Pope,
and then Daryl
did his cool little knife throw
to the other Reaper and killed him,
she like had that look for just a split second when she looked over there and was like oh crap
and she made her decision right there like that was her family darrell was not her family and i was
like right it's see where it was going from there yeah um it was uh it was um well i don't know about
that i i did enjoy how the uh reaper city i'm so i know it's meridian don't look at me like that
um it's the it's the it's the it's the it's the it's the it's
It's the theme park of Reaper City.
We did, you know, with Maggie and the preacher man sneaking in,
with the help of, with the help of Daryl, you know,
getting them through, that was, that was cool.
I would have liked, the only thing that happened in the Daryl scene on the fence
when he killed the guy with the cigarette,
there's a scene there where he cuts his throat and the guy leans back and he still
has a cigarette hanging from his mouth that's unlit.
I wanted Daryl just to take that back.
I wanted him just to reach over and take that back before he fell off the guard gate.
That would be great.
Yes, thank you.
Lights it up.
He doesn't even need to light it.
Just take it back.
You know, I can't lose these cigarettes.
Too few.
There's too few of these bad boys.
But no, it didn't happen.
I wanted it to, though, desperately.
It was, and the launcher that Reaper City had, that Pope had.
That was pretty cool.
The Arrow launcher.
It's like a DIY.
like multiple rocket launcher.
Yeah, it was awesome.
Yeah, it was awesome.
And now we got, we got, we didn't get much of Neegan, though.
I was a little disappointed in that.
I would have liked to have seen a little bit more of Negan, which I guess we'll get as we get into the battle of Meridian when we come back for the second part of the three-part series of the final season.
Yeah, I will say.
they just they don't seem to be using that or utilizing their resources on the show like very efficiently.
Like why would you not, Negan's there.
Why would you not feature him a lot in the show?
It makes no sense.
He's the coolest character outside Daryl, uh, on the show.
So yeah, it's just absolutely stupid.
But, um, uh, completely lost my turn at that where I was going after that.
Okay.
Well, while you think of that, I mean, we can talk about their kind of setting up, uh, the preacher man.
Gabriel because we see in the preview of what's coming up in the second part of the final season is that Gabriel has a face-off with Reaper City's Preacher Man.
And so they're really playing up his struggle with God, you know.
Okay, so that goes right into my point.
I don't really care about the preacher man's struggle with God and how it juxtaposes with this other rabbi, whatever he is.
I find it interesting.
You would.
Max, you would.
I don't care because it doesn't lead towards the plot, the overall plot.
And that's what I was going to say before, before I lost my train of thought, was that why extend this out?
Why not end it on that show?
Like, be done with the Reapers.
Now we got to go to another agonizing.
And we talked about it last week.
Gosh.
Absolutely.
you know, we saw with the
with the way that it was
explained that it wasn't going to end
and we, we, that if they needed to follow
our plan, really, and let's get this
over with. However, however, we were
wrong about specifically Pope, we
didn't think he would die this episode.
I thought he would. I thought he was going to
get killed in the lineup. That's what I
was hoping for. Yeah. Yeah, but you
wanted everybody to die in that.
Correct. Absolutely. Yeah.
And I wanted Daryl to specifically
kill Leah, which is going to happen.
Do you still think that's going to happen?
Oh, that might have, you might be right now.
Yeah, I think it out.
Yeah, I think so.
That definitely needs to happen.
And he would have done it.
He would have done it last night had she not, and she knew it, which was actually the good move on her part after she sold him out to let him go.
Right.
If she had not sold him out and yet said, these are my family, then he would have had to kill her right then.
Right.
So she saved her life by selling him by letting him go.
and selling him out at the same time.
Yeah, I still think that the only purpose of this storyline
is just to show Maggie and the rest of the doubters
that, you know, they're a little bit more like Negan and the Saviors
than they might be comfortable with.
That was the only thing.
And to show that there's two sides to a coin
between the Saviors and the Alexandria group.
That's the only thing.
So it would have been,
how much cooler and how much more excited would be this morning if it ended like that.
And there was a lineup.
They take everyone out.
They don't really feel great about it, but they realized that what Negan said was true.
And now they're all safe and they got their food and everything solved.
That was so cool.
Yes.
And the maggie could have hot wired another truck and they could have loaded it up.
That was actually a good scene with the truck.
And they're going to load it up and drove away.
Yeah.
Ah, that would
See, now that episode would
rivaled a lot of my favorite episodes
but instead they do this, whatever.
It wasn't bad. It just wasn't great.
We got some clips
of the Commonwealth for next
season, by the way.
Yeah.
It looks like
it looks like we were wrong.
It looks like Eugene gave him Alexandria.
It did look like that
in the previews. I don't know that
that he did, but in the
preview for next season, which is when in February 20th, as that week, it's, you know, the week
before if you have AMC Plus, obviously, but February 20th, that Sunday is when episode
nine, first part of the second part of the final season begins. It looks like Eugene gave them
Alexandria. It looks like they come riding into Alexandria. It looks that way. It looks that way.
the only other option, which it's probably that,
but the only other option would be this Stephanie
imposter gives them the information.
I did not know that was a Stephanie imposter.
I completely blew past me.
I mentioned it before, but...
Wait, what?
I think that the girl at the ice cream shop that we saw,
and then who was later we saw as the receptionist for Milton
is the real Stephanie.
that's correct
I'm convinced that's correct
we right
I think we did talk about that
not on air
we never talked about it on air
we talk about it off air
well why weren't you recording
when we were talking
I mean what it's going on around here
who the heck is
that's correct
if you go back and watch
I saw a YouTube video on this
if you go back and watch
when that receptionist
asked about Eugene
she's clearly worried about him
and right
And when you go back and look at the imposter, Stephanie,
when you go back and look at her scenes,
she seems so awkward.
It's like everything she's,
Eugene is like almost like they wrote a script for her.
Well, yeah,
they like wrote a script for her in the show.
These are the things that this nerd would like, you know,
offer it to him.
Right.
So we'll see.
I mean,
it's possible, right,
that I just can't believe that Eugene would do it.
But, okay, I guess fine, but he would do it.
So anyway, that's where we're at, right?
We're at, we have 16 episodes left of the final season.
And we still have got to get done with Reaper City,
and we've still got to get the Commonwealth on our side.
And then wrap up in a final episode,
a huge flash forward to, what, 20 years or something like that,
with the kids growing up.
We still have like 16 episodes left,
so I think we're good.
We have time.
A little bit of time,
but time.
Okay.
It's better than having eight episodes left.
Which is weird,
because I didn't know it was three parts.
I thought it was,
I thought there was going to be more episodes this time
and then an equal amount of episodes for a part two.
I didn't know they were doing three.
Do you listen to this show?
No.
No.
When I listen,
I just play back the thing.
my comments. I'm like, oh, that's a good point.
Which are excellent, by the way.
I love them too, but
I'm saying the whole show would be best.
And so did you have an opportunity?
Also, we're in, now
we're at the middle ground
of this part one of the final season for
the mothership, Walking Dead.
We have the final season
of World Beyond.
Now next week will be
episode three last night.
episode two. And next week we have the beginning of fear. Yeah. So we have fear and world beyond as well.
World Beyond still being the step sister though. You know, it's not leading anyone. Did you catch up?
I did. I watched it two days ago. So yeah, I finally got so bored. I was like, I'm either going to light my fingers on fire.
Yeah. I'm either going to light my fingers on fire or I'm going to watch World Beyond.
The most notable thing of that first episode was Iris being an idiot and killing that soldier.
Yeah, I have to care about Iris to begin with to care about that.
Thank you.
Which I do not.
I do not.
But I realized, you know what?
I realized.
So like this goes into you're not utilizing your assets.
Like Negan is the cool, one of the coolest characters on Walking Dead.
Right.
Show him more.
Daryl equal coolness.
You do already show him a lot, but you have to.
the point is there are cool characters on the Walking Dead
you have to have a cool character
there are zero cool characters on World Beyond
None
I don't know that I agree with that
The Julia Armand's character
The Lieutenant Colonel
She's kind of cool to me in a way
Because I'm just interested
Like in what drives her I guess
And she's just very cold and calculating
Which I think is kind of cool
Yeah
But I know Z.
There's nobody where I can say, oh, that's a cool character.
I want to know more about them.
None.
Her character is interesting because I still want to know.
Like she knows or it appears that she knows almost everything, right?
So I love, I want to know the round table that she sits at where she's not the leader.
Because she works for technique.
I think she's in charge of the CRM, the military.
of the civic republic.
There's still the civic republic who she works for.
She keeps referencing a general.
So I'm curious who the heck that is.
She's mentioned him like twice.
And we don't know, you know, maybe that's her way of pretending that it's not her making
the calls.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
It's not me.
Well, it's not me.
It's that guy over there.
Yeah.
He's the one that hates you.
It's not me.
I didn't want to kill you.
but oh well
right
you know
so like iris
she's like whiny
kind of pathetic
iris is definitely the
low point of the show
however dad i know you actually like
Felix and silas
i like silas
salis is a good character
although you know he they're
i'm hoping that we get him
more involved i mean they tried to
last night when they took him
to the processing factory where the cell towers are up on the towers or somewhere
they're, wherever they're cooking the walkers.
They explained it was a culling unit.
Okay.
You know, they bring them in and then these kids, this guy went out and he rounds up, you know,
mentally impaired young kids and has them kill walkers for the hope of someday being able
to wear the uniform, right?
We don't know what happened to the guy that.
that our man is replacing, right?
Did he, did they kill him?
Did he run off?
What happened to?
I mean, we've got, there's three guys that work there,
three kids that work there, and he's taking over another trailer that's in the warehouse, right?
So maybe we'll find out then when he finally goes inside the trailer and sees, you know,
a note from the guy that was there before him, you know, run away from here.
These people are, are mad.
Yeah, Silas is the closest one.
he's got a little bit of depth in him.
They just need to make him cooler.
He's got to either embrace the crazy
or embrace that he's like
actually kind of big and strong and he can be a protector
or something.
He's close,
but they haven't really pulled the trigger on it.
And I like hope.
Oh, God.
Serious?
Yeah, I do.
I like her.
She's awesome.
She's like the emo,
annoying chick that's like,
I don't know.
No, she annoys me too.
She's just always sad or just,
Emo.
I guess she's,
she's figured it out.
She did kind of,
she did kind of try to figure out things with the,
she's figuring it out.
Yeah,
she's as much a,
and they all know it.
She's as much of a genius as the dad.
Yeah.
Right.
And,
and so they've got to try to keep an eye on her because she can,
she can figure it out.
And dad knows it too,
right?
She just,
she just hasn't embraced it yet.
Um,
and I,
you know,
the,
the,
the, the,
the,
girlfriend who's the fake girlfriend
that's involved
the insider to get information from the doc
she's she's got to go we got to
find she's got a slip and fall on a banana
peel somewhere and accidentally
die oops
gosh darn it we lost her
what is Jane
I'll give it to you hope is better
she's leagues but you know
ahead of Iris as far as like
yeah great and then next episode
we're getting Elton I'm happy about that
yeah that's the kid with the suit
with the with the
matlock suit I love him
the matlock suit
it's the same suit
all the time it doesn't matter that's what he's wearing
it's awesome
but other than that
I mean
you know
the show is there to give us
and we decided this last season
right the first season is the show
is there to give us
some sort of insight
to the future.
What's outside, what's been going on outside of our walking dead world, our walking dead world.
So I think we definitely need to get more of that soon.
And I wish they would have, wish they would have had sped up that process.
Yeah.
Well, we know, and this, I'm genuinely curious when this happens.
We know Jadis is going to be here, which is going to be cool to see her again.
right and again let's let's get jadis involved let's figure out you know what what's going on so that we i mean
she's the one that is our connection to rick right so we need to we need to get her on let's go the
other stuff is i mean iris walking around with her you know what's his name felix felix and will right
Yeah, yeah.
Felix and Will are, you know, a struggling couple.
And, but I see, Iris is just, I don't know why I'm supposed to like her because I don't.
Yeah.
I just don't.
I've really, I want to.
I feel like, I feel like I'm, I'm a bad person for not liking her, but so be it.
I just don't.
But you do like Felix, so that might fix this.
Yeah, we'll see.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I still go back to
there's just nobody cool to watch on the show.
I mean, you could fix it
just by having a cool personality.
You know, like someone that's interesting to watch.
But with all these kids
that are like struggling to find their identity
and you know, all this stuff, I'm like,
I don't care.
Eln never really struggled.
He always pretty much was the same throughout the first season.
He was always the nerdy kid,
the one with the suit,
the one who knew a lot of things. He never really changed.
Except when he was
like crying about his mom and stuff the entire
time, which I don't really care about.
It still wasn't a reaching character though.
They're all annoying.
You just
pissed Max off.
I'm not mad.
You can tell. I mean, it's okay, son.
It's all right. What's funny is with this show,
I'm just, I'm like,
please give me what I want and what I want
with this show is just some kind of Rick reference.
Just anything.
Rick reference.
Again, we get back to our connection is Jadis, right?
So let's get to it.
Let's find it.
I keep waiting for, you know, something, some reference by the doc, the girlfriend down in the testing center or when Hope was walking through some of the testing centers, you know, trying to, you know, figure it out that, you know, we saw a reference there.
right something a name in a book uh something that ties it in and we we still don't have that
that's very frustrating if if on the last episode they have just like the silhouette like a rick silhouette
even if it's just a shadow or something you know what i mean i would be satisfied with the show
they took forever just to get to that silhouette you know two seasons but i'll say it's
successful if they give us that silhouette oh i'd be i'd be i'd be definitely okay i'd be i'd be down for that
I think we set it up with some kind of message in some booklet, a sign-in book or something that Hope sees at the facility, something.
And then the silhouette.
Yeah, awesome.
Absolutely.
Yeah, the whole thing.
Though he won't have his boots.
Though he won't have his boots, because Michone grabbed those, nor his hat.
But, I mean, I'm sure Rick's got one style.
I don't think he's changing it.
He's not going to go Metro or anything.
I think my favorite scene in this episode of World Beyond is just because of my father's reaction here when Hope was walking through the, was getting the tour and she looks in one of the windows and the researcher just closes the blinds.
That was awesome.
Yeah, he just looked up at her.
Closes him.
I wanted to stab him right in the heart right.
So I had to research that, you bastard.
That's what I want to mop for so I can ram it through the window and this guy's eye.
ball right now, okay?
I was, I was expecting something
from the mop. I know.
That was awesome.
I don't actually want the mop.
That was awesome.
The janitor closet.
So, okay, so final thoughts
for the first part
of the final season
for Walking Dead, Mr. Butchell.
A lot of wasted
time and energy.
Yeah.
I don't understand the plot
lines of any of it. Well, I get
the plot line of Alexandria. They're hurting. They need help. So that's why our group needs to get help from
the Commonwealth and bring it to Alexandria. I don't understand all this Maggie Reapers. I don't see the
point now if they didn't. There was a couple of conversations where maybe Maggie was
endeared to Negan a little bit, not endeared, but related to a little bit. So that kind of seems like
the only point to the first half of their story. And so it was a lot of wasted time and effort
getting there. The Commonwealth stuff I loved. I thought it was all cool. I want to
to see more of that. It looks like we'll see
more of them getting together
in the next season, hopefully.
Right, right. But I can't say I
disliked it this half, because I
enjoyed most of it. Third, third.
Oh, yeah, this third.
I can't say
I didn't dislike it. I enjoyed
watching it. It's just, that thought is
always in the back of my mind, like, you're wasting time,
you're wasting time, you know, let's get, let's get on
with it. So, I think
I think I don't have that thought right
now just because I know we have a lot of extra episodes that we usually don't get.
As soon as we get to the end of the second part and it's still going like what you're saying,
then my mind will be going, hey, you're wasting time.
But because we have another 16 episodes, which is what we only have usually,
I think that's why my mind is going, okay, they have some time to waste, but not much.
well again as you know we talked about earlier i don't disagree with what you guys have pointed out
but i will say that uh time is short i know you think that we still you know we still have that
second part before we get to the the final eight episodes but the time is there's only
16 episodes and we've got to make a point and to keep hearing the excuse for
from the dead universe that, well, we've got, you know, we've got, you know, does the movies mean anything to you?
Okay, well, if that's true, yeah, the movies mean a lot to me, but we were told or we were expected,
anyway, to have the walking dead world revolve and get us pointed to the movies, not that the movies
would be the answer to all. I don't know. It's frustrating. I want, I want, I want more, I want more
explained and more what's going on.
We got a little bit more from
World Beyond about the
rest of the world, this
episode, that we had
I mean, we had assumed
and kind of guessed, but
Lieutenant Colonel
mentioned what was
going on around the world, right? That one
time where she talked about the
fall and how we're getting back to it.
I think it was Lieutenant Colonel that talked

And it isn't at all.

There's a lot of ground that needs to be covered.
No question.
Anyway, I'm, you know, looking forward to it.
