00:00Hey, Chicks in the Office listeners. You can find every episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube.Prime members can listen ad free on Amazon Music. What's up, everyone? It's Chicks in the Office with Ria and Fran, giving you that Friday energy on a Wednesday.Happy Wednesday, everybody.Happy Wednesday.Hop day.
00:22Yeah.Feeling good. It's beautiful outside.I went for a walk yesterday that was just stunning down along the West Side Highway.Sometimes Joe and I will walk olive together. It's just like it's rare because we're coming and going or different times.Like he's going to work earlier than me, coming home later and I'm taking olive out or whatever or vice versa. But we were both home.
00:46We said, why don't we take her?You know, she gets so excited when we both go.She's like, oh, whole family's going out. This is so nice.It was, I mean, really just.Hell yeah.Really gorgeous.Great way to start.
00:58Great way to start the week.Yeah, that is wonderful. It was lovely. And it was during the, it was light out.Yeah, it was, yes.It was around 4 p.m.Perfect.That's the perfect time.
01:10We went for a walk last nightand it was dark out.Yeah.And it was my first timewalking in Central Park in the dark.Well, that's not true. When I walked barefoot.I mean, right, but that was a very quick thing.
01:26After the party. After the party. And I had to take my shoes off.But that was very like we ran through. No, no, no.This was different.Like we went on a, yeah, yeah, no.To seek out a purposeful long walk.
01:37And my goodness gracious. It's beautiful.No.Oh, not beautiful. No, it's, we were dodging mice and rats and raccoons.Raccoons.Holy shit. No, no, no.
01:50Guess someone gets a dark out.Dude.These raccoons were ginormous.Oh, I don't know.what they're feeding them in the park. They're feeding them all the trash.Yeah.They were fucking huge, big boys, these raccoons.
02:08Wow.We were so scared.I literally, like, at one point, I put Matt in front of me and was like, you go first.Yeah.Because we were like, we got to get back. The wildlife out here, it's dangerous. We've got to get inside.Yeah, I think they kind of tell you not to be walking in the park after dark.
02:26Dark.Yeah, I know.I think they do say that.Yeah.But we had, like, gotten distracted, and then by the time we were going for the walk,it was due to dark.Yeah.And I said, well, about to be at that time.
02:36Yeah.And I said, well, we still have to go for a walk.We said, you know what?Next time, we'll walk the streets.Yeah.After dark, we learned our lesson. After walk the streets. Not central.
02:47Do you ever walk Central Park in the dark?I used to run in the dark, actually.Oh.And people do.I mean, they've, like.Oh, I mean, I was passing them. The perks of being a man, you know.No.
02:57I run in the dark in the park. No, literally. Never.Never. Matt went to me last night. He was like, by the way, you will never walk here. How late are we talking? How late are we talking? It was like 8 p.m.Yeah. No, I've definitely gone late, but, and people do, because like in that circle, yeah.Like, they have lights and stuff.
03:15Yeah.I mean, yeah.I did see runners last night. But you're going to see, maybe not raccoons, but you're going to see rats everywhere. No, rats. The thing, the thing is, is like that your ankle's like, like, like something that low, it's almost like, like you can almost, it almost feels like you could fight something off face to face like a monster, more so than like by your feet.So that was, you know, whatever, we're used to that in New York City.
03:39The rack, the size of these raccoons were like when we were in Montana and we saw the, uh, those big ass, what was it?Uh, those big boys with the horses. They weren't horses. They were at the, they were at the ranch. You were taking so many pictures of them.Oh, goats. The goats.I was like, I'm sure to think of some niche.
04:02Some niche animal. Those were fat goats.Big those goats were?Yeah. These raccoons were like that.Damn.Fat dumpster asses.Wow.
04:10Like, holy shit. And they were going.I don't think I've ever seen a raccoon in New York.Oh, God.We saw it at least six.If you go to Central Park, they're always like, they'll climb up the trees.Yeah.They were all, it was like, oh my God, they could just jump on us right now.
04:22Well, it's not season right now for the squirrels. So all the squirrels are out and they are harbivists. All the nuts. All of goes crazy. They were collecting the trash.Yeah.So we saw two raccoons going in on one trash bin.And then when we walked back, we saw that they were collecting that trash bin.
04:39They were organizing their hall. No, no, not the raccoons. The squirrels.No.That's.Oh, people. The sanitation.Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:46They were cleaning up after the raccoons. And we were like, oh, my God, because the raccoons were still surrounding, they're pissed. They're getting their food taken away.we're next. I said, we're now their dinner. And we ran out of there. It was so scary. No, too much. Really crazy. That's why you don't go in the park after dark. No, no. Learn my lesson. Not happening anymore. But during the day, it is. Delightful. In the mornings, ideal.Yeah, ideal. And then during the day, I texted Noah last week, we got a hot dog. Not me and Noah, but I was saying, wow, this is what you do all the time because Noah loves walking in Central Park.He does. But. And Kelly. And Kelly, too. When she did. When she lived.
05:26One of these days we're going to run into each other. One day.And like not know.Well, I told me just be like a meat cute, you know. You guys are just like you're, you'll both reach for the, for the mustard at the hot dog heart.Maybe we don't call it a meat cute. No, you wouldn't, but, but you know, serendipitous moment.Exactly.
05:42Did you see the remake in that movie, by the way?Serendipity?Serendipity.Yes.Well, speaking of serendipitous, one of the highlights of the walk last night was,Can't Take My Eyes Off of You by Frankie Valley was playing in the distance. In the Park?Mm-hmm. At some, like somewhere, somebody somewhere in the park in the distance was playing.
06:01And I said, hi, Grammy. That's nice. And you're going to say it again.Tonight.While we watch.Dancing the Stars. We'll get into the recap.Which the recap will be on.Well, we're going to hop on Zoom again. We, the people seem to love the quick turnaround.
06:14So we're going to stick to that as much as we can until we go on tour, then things get tricky.Things get tricky. Please bear with us.Don't yell at us.Please.Please don't yell at us.I know this happens every tour.Just trying to be.
06:26Just try to make it work.Couple programming notes I just want to say.For sure.Yes.So originally we were going to record on Wednesday mornings dancing with the stars and do in studio. We like you said, realize people like the quick turnaround. So the dancing with the stars recaps will be on Zoom.Strictly for turnaround purpose.
06:45We would have done it in studio on Wednesday morning, but then that means the episodewould come out later.Instead, best of both worlds, you'll get a dancing with the stars recap. And everyone who commutes in the morning and wants to listen on their way will have the episode. So please don't yell at us that you hate when we're on Zoom. We're trying to make it all work.Okay.And second thing, please don't yell at us while we go on tour and we battle with the podcast, release schedule.
07:06Because we have said time and time again, we would love to continuously put out episodes while we travel.Would love to.We don't, we hate missing episodes.Yeah.The way that it works is we physically can't.Like our producers do a lot of work on show day where they have to be at the venue at like 11.AM. Yeah. And the show. Also you guys. No, us too. Of course. But it's more like, I don't think peoplerealize that you completely, you produce this show, but then you also completely produce the live show.
07:38So I want people to understand how much work you guys are putting in to doing both. And that it would bephysically impossible for you guys to complete that all. Like it's not. Yeah. And we would love to do it,but it's not. So please go easy on us. We're not. We're not. No, we're not. This time won't bethat many. But I understand where people, they get frustrated and we love that you love us so much. But it's just not possible. And, you know, we're putting on shows and doing the whole thing. It's only, it's only really, like, tour is only three weeks this year, this fall. Yeah, because wecombined, we've got two, week one and week three, there's two shows each week. So, and then, of course,New York is in December, but that we live here. So that makes things a little bit easier. Yes, for
08:23for us. But having that happen does condense our travel time, but it does make keeping the usualrecording schedule a little bit tougher because we are gone like the whole week instead of beinggone for two days and coming back and then having the tour be six weeks. And having to get on the planeand drive and edit and you know, you have to have Wi-Fi to transfer footage and connect.Yeah. It's a lot that goes into it more than just like press.about and recording, uploading. So,share with us for the month of November.
08:58Exactly.But it's going to be so much fun. There's so much fun stuff coming up, tour. You can still get tickets.Yes.So if you would like to come see us and you're in Grand Rapids,Scottsdale, Phoenix, Phoenix.I know they're very close.
09:15And Denver and St. Louis.St. Louis sold out.Yes, which is amazing. So Phoenix, Denver.Grand Rapids.Yes.If you would like to come see us, that would be great. We're going to have so much fun.
09:31And that's, yeah.Yeah, we're in the road. We're hitting the road soon.I did mention on Monday just, you know, how I was feeling about the Eagles. And I just got to tack on here that. Please do.I was like, now feels incredibly flippant the way I was like, oh, you know,Jaylon hurts.
09:49It sounds like maybe he does, isn't getting along with the team doctors. There's some rumors.for a good fucking reason, whatever the hell was going on.The guy is dealing with a major, major scare. And the report that was coming out was terrifying.I will not get all the medical terms correctly. But the blood clot that initially was a superficial blood clot, maybe that wasn't really what it was to begin with.
10:20But there was a flight to London. There was a flight home from London.he was seen by doctors in London, then back.It was first reported he was awake for 36 hours before he played in the London game. Then they walked that back. Then they were like, oh, no, he was awake because he was in the hospital for a long time. But then he was able to sleep before the game because so many medical professionals were like, why was he told not to sleep?
10:41That's not a thing for a blood clot.Like that's not.Right, that's only a thing for like concussions, right? That's not a thing. So then that got walked back. But the clot has moved to the lungs, which is, you know, incredibly scary and incredibly dangerous. And flying only makes those things even more dangerous.
11:00So really a terrifying report, you kind of think that this was mishandled at many levels.I don't know if the doctors didn't know what they didn't know when, this had the other thing.Jason Kelsey was on Monday Night Football, kind of sort of defending the staff just saying they were working probablywithin protocol, whatever the hell that means. And then today it was like, the NFL investigated that they did work within protocols.
11:27It's like, well, the NFL's investigating themselves. That always cracks me up when it's like, well, the NFL investigated. And they said the NFL's innocent. It's like, well, oh shit, really?Shocker.Shocker.So I don't know what's going to come out of this.I just hope that he is healthy because, my God, he deserves the world.
11:47It's so scary. And that is so scary.and it can be like a career-rending thing. This happens.People have to be on blood thinners their whole livesin no contact sports when you're on blood thinners. It is being reported that they hopeand his agent has said that he should,
12:04the prognosis is that he should make a full recoveryand all these things. But then it's like, my God, you make a full recovery, you go back to football. You want to play for this craziness? No.Which was so sad because my dad and my brotherwho were at the London game, we're like,
12:17holy shit, was this last timewe're going to see Jalen Hurts?as an eagle. And then I,then I,I slow tearrolled down my face. It's,
12:25you know,I love him so muchand I hope he's okay.So scary. That is so scary. And I would like to throwthis season in the trash.Just start over
12:33at another time.Pass fair.Next year. You know, fire a lot of peoplewill try to get next year. But I just want to clarifybecause then I saw that news
12:41on Monday and I was like,oh, fuck,that's creet.That it just,it blew up big time.So wild.So wild.So, yeah.
12:47Yeah, that is crazy.Scary.Very scary.Really scary.scary. I can't believe they let him back on a plane. Like one thing to go to London, kind of not really knowing what was going on, but then getting back on the plane,London home, I'm like, long flight. Yeah. Yeah.I wouldn't, realistic is like he probably should have been stuck in London for a while,
13:06which would not be ideal for him, I'm sure, but still. So, yeah, that's a terrible situation.Yeah, that sucks. In other news, really exciting, we were on the Barrymore show.We will be on Fridayfor the Drew's news segmenttalking about all the pop cultureand we filmed it on MondayWe did and we went from here to Drew Barrymore StudioAnd it was quite the whirlwind
13:31It was and you're in and outThat's show biz babyThey shuffle you in but it was awesomeSo we were in front of a live studio audienceI was eating that shit upYeahI went to sleep last night thinkingHmm
13:44Should we dream about having a talk show on televisionYou know, I was like, is this a new dream of ours?We have a talk show here.I thought, huh, that was fun.Like a live studio audience? No, it is so fun.But we'd have to, we'd have to, there'd be some tweaking. You know, we can't be on that.
14:02We can't be on daytime network.Right.You'd have to really censor yourself.Think about that. You guys are making some crude jokes up there. We were, and Drew said it was okay.Yeah, yeah, yeah. But they were, I wouldn't say they were that crude.
14:16Like it was. There's a lot of innuendos.Yeah, but that's okay. It's like, like, I'm, I see, sometimes we're,our vocab is, our certain vocab would be able to be used. You're right.I actually definitely wouldn't want to censor myself.Never mind.
14:29Yeah.Never mind.Yeah.It's tough.Unless it was a talk show. Also, it puts you in front of a bigger audience. What? Then maybe you have to censor yourself.
14:38I don't want to censor myself.Never mind.I'm getting all upset now. That's not happening.Yeah, yeah. You know, if you put us on like another, like a streaming network and you don't have tocensor yourself, then I wouldn't,enjoy that, but I like the live studio audience aspect. Yeah, that's why I love an audience. Yeah.
14:52That's why I love doing live shows. Doing the tour. Yeah, because I love a live audience. But it was so fun and such an honor and we love Drew so much and Ross Matthews so funny. And we had such a good time. We really did. It was so nice. And it's just great to see our oldpal, Drew, you know, she'd some lovely things to say to us and you can watch tune in on Friday.Yeah, tune in on Friday.Wherever it's on because it's on at different times, a different place.as we learned that as well.So check your local listings.
15:21Check your local listings and tune in.Make sure you tag us on Instagramand tell the Drew Barrymore showhow much you love seeing us.So they might be invited back.We would like to be invited back. And I will censor myselfto go on the Drew Barrymore show.
15:33Yeah.But not in life.I will not.Yeah, yeah, yeah.Be censored here.But if Drew says, hey, we can't say that.Okay.Good thing I didn't curse.
15:43Well, you know, it's not live.Right.So I think it would have been okay. But if they were like, cut, caught, caught, caught, that would have been. That would have been so embarrassing.Yeah, that didn't happen. And they said, can't say that, honey.Try again.
15:57Oh, God.Oh, my God.Oh, my God.I was not much fine thinking about that.Yeah, no good, no good. But we were also there when Jenna Ortega and Niam Adams. They were filming and.Teco Watiti.
16:11They passed by.Yes.They got a new movie coming out. That looked very interesting just from the, we got to.From the promo that we saw. From the promo we got to see a little tease of the interview. You can watch that on Friday, too.Yeah.
16:22But really, just, you know, stunning people. And it's a beautiful studio.Like, I like, it's a very, I just love. It's a very, like, homey, warm. You feel the warmth in that studio. And she gave the best gifts. She gave coffee beans, a mug, a sweatshirt, a hat, socks. If anybody wants me to auction them off, let me know.
16:41I'm just kidding. We got all this Drew merch.Yeah, I love it.I'm so excited.Good mementos. That was a lovely way to see.start the week as well. Yeah, it was. It was reallyawesome. So make sure you tune in
16:51and we can get intowell unfortunately we didn't get to dothe drink in the facewith Drew. She was busy. Yeah, yeah. She was making into it I think we thought we wereit was going to be more of like the podcast so I thoughtwe'd have time for her to throw water my face again.Oh yeah, I mean we totally had no idea we were going on the show really
17:11which wasjust a misstepby us. We just read thesituation rock completely, which was just so us.Yeah.So us.Yeah.Yeah.
17:24We thought there's no possible way Drew's putting us on her actual show.Yeah.And then like, I think we just kind of assumed we were sort of doing what we did last time, but then come to find out, I don't think she even really does a podcast anymore. No, it's on her show. It's on the show. It's on the show. They incorporated it into the show.I sent it to France and I said, Fran, I think we're on the show.
17:43Yeah.You know, we were surprised because it is to.called Drew's News and that is what her podcast was called. Her podcast was called Drew's News.I mean, so imagine our surprisewhen we found out we were actually going on the show. And then my in-laws on Monday, like they said to Matt,
17:59like, what's with you and Riakeeping this stuff? Like, you weren't going to tell us?And he said, actually,my wife didn't even know.No. So it wasn't like we were purposely keeping it?Yeah. Would haveinformed everyone way sooner.
18:16I would have been bragging about it forBut thankfully, it was not, there was a little bit of time before it's on.So we can tell everybody about it.Yes.We can be really annoying about it until Friday.Exactly.And we're so excited and honored and thankful that they invited us.Yes.
18:29And we would love to come back because it was so fun.All right.Let's get into today's topics. We're going to be talking about Jay-Z, potentially picking Jay-Z for the Super Bowl halftime show.Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein casually dating. And they finally came out with it.And Sammy and Tyreek from Love Island, having a baby.I will say this.
18:51I'm having a baby. This Instagram post was sent to me more than any big news in the pop culture world by far in the last few months.Really? So many DMs.More than I've gotten about anything else in a while.Really?I was very surprised.Interesting.
19:12But it has people, the people were like, whoa.Right.It was a shock. It was a shock. It's a jam-packed episode.Jam-packed.We have Pop Corner, we have Dancing with the Stars, and we also have Connie Brin and Sam Navola,
19:24who I just adore them both.Adorable.They are so great, and their show is so fun.So let's get into it.We're going to start off with Dancing with Stars.Okay, after this week's performances, we need to talk.Who do you think is going home with the mirror ball? There are a few frontrunners.
19:43The judge's scores are all over the place, and honestly, everyone seems to have a different pick right now.Either way, you can see what the market is saying on Draft Kings.Check out the live Dancing with the Stars markets on the Draft King sports app and make your own call.Download the Draft King sports app and use code Chicks.New Draft Kings customers, trade 5, get 200 in bonuses with 21 days.Trade five, get 200 in total bonuses within 21 days.Code Chicks in partnership with Draft Kings.

Limited time offer. All right. Let's get into The Dancing with the Stars recap for dedication night.I mean, what a night. It is hard to come down after a night like that.It really is. It's just such a beautiful evening every single time.
20:47and no one gets sent home.We knew we knew that was coming. And he just can really appreciate the love and support and the dance. And the dance. The dance. And I don't even know why I'm tearing up now.We haven't even started.Just thinking about it again.
21:06We haven't even started talking about the night. But I mean, this night is not made and also made for criers.Like we shouldn't be allowed to watch.but it's also made exactly for people that are emotionally successible. What's the word?I know what you're trying to say. You're more prone to tears.Susceptible.
21:32You're more prone to tears.Exactly.And so that's what happened tonight from start to finish, although we're going to go through every dance. But for some reason, the tears really.hit me during Conner's piano man with his dad.Like I don't know what happened, but as soon aspiano man started playing, I started crying
21:59full sobbing like I had never done before duringthe first portion of the show. Yeah. Yeah. No, I, there's just somethingabout that song. There really is. Andshout out to Kim Johnson, who was the guest judgefor this episode.Put her permanently on this show. She balances the judge's table out perfectly. They need a fourth.
22:26They're missing the fourth.Something's been missing ever since they went to three. They bring in a guest judge. That's fun and all.But to have a consistent fourth would be amazing. And, you know, I love Carrie Ann and I love a messy gal.And she can be a little messy here from time to time.and Kim just really like grounds this panel, I think,
22:48and is so good at acknowledging where the stars are atand giving them really good feedback, constructive criticism, things that they can work onbecause she's been a pro on the show, so she gets it.So I would like her to be a permanent stay,or at least she should be there multiple times a season.I agree. And I also love the idea of having another woman on the panel.
23:11I feel like that definitely balance.balances it out. And I 100% agree that she has really great feedback and constructive criticismthat the star can use going forward. And I really enjoyed her judging tonight and her input. And then next week we have Shirley Ballas. So we put in the fucking big dog. Watch out everybody.Woof, woof, woof. Shirley Ballas is an icon. She is a legend. If you watch Next Pro,she was a judge on Next Pro, but she has been a judge on, uh, strictly over in the UK forforever. She's the queen of ballroom.
23:45She basically moldedall of our stars. Look atMark, Derek, Julianne. She taughtthem all. So havingher in the ballroom will beincredible. Just, shewill bring it. It will be awesome.I mean, we started off the night with Ezra
24:00and Daniela, whichtears, passion,right off the bat. Absolutely gorgeous.Ezra's mom,stunning. A stunner.A stunner. A beautiful dancer.beautiful human.There were no uggos tonight.
24:15There were no, no, no, no.Everybody was beautiful. Not on dedication.Inside and out.Inside and out.Just really stunning. They said no ugly people allowed. And no ugly hearts.
24:25Yeah.And that's what I mean by just all together.Yeah.This was a beautiful dance.Danielle's, Danielle's choreography shown once again the moment where she like stepped on to,I mean, we knew that was coming. No, I didn't.I actually didn't know it was coming.
24:45No, no, not specifically in this dance.I was like, in my mind,I was like, it's only a matter of time before the prosthetic is used in the dance in a new and creative way.And that was so, so cool. And just a beautiful bond from him and his mom.And he was sharing clips about their relationship and everything he's taught her.And that's one strong woman. So that was a beautiful way to kick off the night.
25:12Was there a 10?I think maybe Kim gave them a 10.I really thought it was beautiful to hear the way Ezra spoke about the confidence that his mom instilled in him.Yes.Which I think is so important for so many people to hear obviously and for him to hear growing up the way that he did.And you're right. The prosthetic was obviously going to be used at some point. And this was a really beautiful, special way to.
25:42showcase. Yeah. Yeah. Stunning, stunning, you know, a hole that they had. It was really, reallybeautiful. Tatiana danced with Alfonso to honor Uncle Phil, the legend, beautiful. We love whenAlfonso gets his moves on. And him joining in on that V&A's waltz was stunning because he is amirror ball champion for goodness sakes. Put some respect in Alfonso's name. He can glide across the ballroomlike the best of them.Alfonso is one of my favorite dancers to watch.I really eat up at Alfonso dance. So I was so thrilled to hear he was joining,
26:20which we had called last week, because how are you going to do Tatiana on Dedication Nightwithout Alfonso? It just only made sense. And obviously...And the Fresh Prince did not enter the ballroom.Or Fran.Fran, if you let right now, you put out of your wrist
26:38and I'm going to slap it.Okay.Sorry.Sorry.I'm going to, this is the great podcast slap.I'm slapping your wrist for that one, okay?Yeah, no fresh prints in the room tonight, but it was, oh God, it was for, it was for Uncle Phil and it was beautiful.Yeah.
26:55The way that they spoke. And I know I'm going to keep using the word beautiful tonight.I know. But it really was.And I felt the judges were sort of doing the same thing and trying to find a different way toward what they mean. But it really all was beautiful. And how cool she sang the song?Phenomenal.
27:11What a voice.Oh my God.Thank you for reminding me.Yeah.What a voice.And I honestly, for me, this was my favorite dance she's done so far.Yeah.Yeah.
27:23Like they said, she is, she really has been one of the most improved.Every week she just gets better and better.Really love watching her dance.Mora dedicated her dance to Ireland. Now look, objectively, we love Mora.Objectively, having a complete stranger come in and be like the next, the,the added person in the dance when everyone like has their mom, their dad, their sister, their spouse.
27:47It was kind of crazy. But I don't know if that just comes from a place of like, you know, more is far from home.So it might be really difficult to get somebody here for so many reasons. And she acknowledged everybody at home. The costumes were cool. And I think like Mark's way of incorporating the Irish dance,Irish step dance was really cool.
28:07I mean, Lucky is a phenomenal, a phenomenal dancer. The PASO itself was not her strongest dance, in my opinion. This was my least favorite dance for Mora, unfortunately. And yeah, you're right.I mean, we're not going to, I think dedicating it to her home, you know, means a lot to her.And you're right. There's different reasons as to why somebody cannot be there
28:34and somebody in her life, which is totally fair. And I think dedicating it to that is,awesome. It obviously was a switchup, which you need on a night like this. But I, this style of dance, I don't thinkwas her strong suit. And it is a,it is a strong dance. So you canobviously tell when it's not somebody's
28:55strong suit. Yeah, definitely. But the judges still love her andJulianne, Julianne been like, what's it like, you know, what do you got to say to all thosepeople watching illegally in your country? It's like, oh, well, keep using that VPN?I don't know. That was funny. That was funny.
29:16And I loved Julianne's look tonight, loved her dress.Stunning.She looked really, really gorgeous, old Hollywood glamour.Jackson was after Mora. And you know what fucking snaps for our banana. This was a great dance. We will give credit where credit is due.And I thought that this was a really good quick step.
29:37And I hear what the judge are saying about his frame. But just like the showmanship, the musicality, it all came together on another level, I think, for this dance. His best dance yet, in my opinion. And that little banana dance is hard out. What can you say?Exactly. And you know, my God, they always put him in these bright colors. And I don't know if that's by choice or if they just want him to pop like a neon pink starburst.
30:03Like it's just every, it's all the time. It's just, and you know, he is a showman. And so I really like that dance. That was beautiful. It was a good quick step. And another one to the moms out there. He acknowledged his mom, who was very sweet. And I think it's so nice when the moms come out and dance and, you know,
30:23they're not dancers and they're dancing on national television. They must be so nervous. So nervous.Like any family member or anybody in their lives for anybody who's getting out there, they were just thrown into this.I know, right?Huge props to everybody who dance tonight.Really.
30:42Is really just thrown in to start.Absolutely.Amber did a contemporary with her sister.Pasha continues to crush the choreography.I thought this deserved all tens.I really, I was surprised that this wasn't a tens down the board. They're holding some of the tens back.It was the night where some tens were given,
31:02but they held back on some where I thought there would have been more. And this dance, I thought, deserved all tens.because not only was the dancing beautiful, but the message was beautiful.Like contemporary is all about storytelling, and Pasha really told the story through that dance, with her battling her mental health and her sister helping her out of that.It was all in the dance.
31:31Totally.Pasha is such a wonderful choreographer, and that really showed tonight. How about Pasha winning?sexiest dance pro. That was so funny.Did you see Yon's face?Yeah, yeah.
31:45He is so funny.Literally, Jan, you're, you're an absolute gem. It's a treasure. There were some unreal transitions this evening because there are some heavy topicsand people are really, you know, getting deep and talking about their lives and their families. And as Amber did, her mental health and all very important. And then it's like, okay, by the way, just got to say, Pasha, you're, you sexy.Yeah, but just to remind.
32:09I just want to let everyone know posture, you're the sexiest. And I love Danielle and just like getting right in the camera and being like, yes.Yeah, I loved that. She was hyping her man up.But yeah, it is absurd. And by the way, I get it.Like, they have to do what they got to do.And there's no easy transition.
32:29You got to get from A to B and there's only so many minutes in an hour, you know? And there's only so many minutes in the show. You got to cut to the chase.Jenna danced a Viennese waltz with Alan. Now, right at the beginning of the show, Alphonse,it was like, Alan's here this week, no vall. And we just glazed right past that. And then the package, Alan was like,
32:51honored to be here.No acknowledgement. And I post this on my Instagram story, too.But it's like, if you are a sweet, sweet old lady, grandmother, perhaps, who's maybe not online, who maybe tunes in on,to her local ABC station at 8 p.m. on Tuesday nights to watch Dancing with the Stars. And she's
33:15probably like, well, what the fuck happened to Val? Well, please don't cut out the grandfathers becausemy Baba, my grandpa, his favorite show is Dancing with the Stars. Like literally ever. You got to askhim if he was wondering where that was. And there is no way he knows what happened with him. I mean,he does try to keep up and he listens to our show so he can be in the know. He loves pop culture.he loves Broadway. He loves Dancing with the Stars. So he's in the no.But I don't know if he's that in the no.
33:44So I got to text him.I got to text him tomorrow morning and be like, were you?Did you notice?Baba, did you notice Val was not there last day?I'm going to give him a call.I'm going to get him on the phone and be like, what were you thinking about that?
33:54Yeah.And did you understand why?But besides the point,I thought Jenna shined tonight with Alan.Beautiful dance.I thought Jenna shined with Alan.I thought she did too.Because people have pointed this out that when Val and Jenna dance together, Jenna Dwan,
34:15sometimes it looks like they're competitively dancing against each other.Like there is a clip that was, I forget what week it's from. And when you just watch this one part back, they're like,it's like so nuts. And it's like the two of them going so crazy. And you're like, whoa, whoa.Like it looks like you guys are competing against each other in a dance battle.Right, right, right.
34:35Whereas tonight I felt like Jenna.really shined. And that's not to sayAlan's not a great dancer, Gleb.He just knows how to make his partnerthe centerpiece.Totally. Which I thought that he didtonight really, really well, especially
34:52in a moment, which is hard that he has to come inand it's all this fighting. And that people were sayingVal doesn't follow Alan and Emma. And he never followed them in the first place, which is wild. But then hejust, he followed them. And he followed them. And then he commented on
35:08Allen's post like hyping them up and being like you're my new favorite follow.Wilde he never followed them in the first place. But I don't even know how it's possible. He's on social. He's not follow them. And you could use the excuse to like, oh, they're not on social media. They are so on social media, which is why he got in trouble in the first place. So I don't understand.
35:24And they were literally all on tour. They spend all these moments together. So much time together. It's really, it's really crazy.I don't know if it maybe just got to the point where they were, where it just went on for toolong. He was like, I can't, I can't follow them now. I mean, I've had that happen to me sometimes where I've,it's gone on for so long that I'm just like, well, now it's awkward. Right, but not, I know whatyou're talking about, but not with people that you're with all the time. All the time. No, I know. That is
35:52very true. It was, it was, it was a little weird. Took a little bit for me to get a follow back. From Fran. Yeah. I know certain people that Fran still doesn't follow and it's so funny.Yeah. And she never will at this point. It's, you know, but it's not anybody she's seeing.on her day to day. No, or talking to on my day. Or talking to. You know, they're seeing each otherall the time. So I don't know. Really is quite interesting. Um, but you are right. Allen absolutelyhad Jenna shining and then Carrie Ann, you saucy minx. Giving out that, giving out that 10.You're just like, yeah, I see you girl. She was like, you know what? I'm giving up. I'm givingJenna fucking 10 tonight. And I, and she was the only one. When I think,
36:37she could have also been another one to get all tensbecause that dance was gorgeous. But Cariantossing a 10 out there for Jeddawas like there was just somethingpoetic about that. I loved it.I was like, hell yeah. You know what? Fuck it. She was just like
36:53one of these. We were like, see, Gary Ann.Yeah, she's sitting there like, fuck it.I'm giving a 10 and everyone's going to know why.Totally. We both had a nice little Drakeball we were watching tonight because we werepreparing ourselves for Tyler's dance. And like, during thator I just like, I took a sip of my red wine.
37:08I was like, you, fuck.Cheers.Cheers to you, motherfucker.Carrie am.Like, it's just really, really top-notch stuff.Harry danced a fox trot. And I was to stop this train, which is a fantastic song. And his wife was in the dance.
37:30And, you know, I probably should have known this. But I was like, oh, my God, she's a phenomenal dance. She's also a dancer.she's also a professional dancerso that makes senseon why she was absolutely stunningin that dance. For me personally,
37:47a little bit of maybe a too literalinterpretation of stop this train.Like I was like, do they need to be at a train station?Because you know, that song has such a deep meaning. And I thought that was like a very literalinterpretation of it.However, the fox trot was beautiful.Totally agree.
38:05This was a great dance.top to bottom.Yeah.But you were cracking me upwhen you were like, they're literally at a train station.Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that is not the point of the song.
38:16Yeah, like, in my mind,I was like, you really could have done something morewith the passing of timeand, you know, loving your wifethrough every decade and every era.And they were like,we're going to be at a train station.Yeah, it was very literal in that sense.
38:34But it was beautiful. And I actually thought maybe this was, going to get some tens too.I could have seen them throwing a 10 in therebecause it was a classic fox trot. There was no popping and locking and jamming and breaking.Well, thank God.For this was appropriate.
38:52Poppin and locking at the train station would have been something.Would have been something. He could have done it, but we'll save that for another time.Connor danced to honor his dad, which was so beautiful. He shared his dad's battle with lymphoma, which I did not know aboutand hearing about their relationshipwas so beautiful and having him in the dance.
39:19And like, I don't know, there's just something about piano, man.The two of us, we texted me,we were like, this fucking song,as soon as you hear those first keys,I had tears in my eyes.Like immediately. And I was like,
39:31and I had been a little teary eyed, a little misty. But this, I started fully sobbing.I'm like, I didn't.I didn't know Fibula was going to have me fully sobbing tonight, but here I am.And he really, he really did.It was so cute. And then when they got all eights, I was so happy for them.So happy.
39:47Well deserved.Very well deserved. And Riley was so happy for Connor. And Connor, you could tell that he kind of just wanted to give like a fuck yeah.Like I did it.I got there. And that was awesome. And he said, you know, like it's amazing to have a doubt, but a remarkable one.
40:04And I was like, oh.Sometimes people are just so good with their words. They really are.I thought that was so beautiful.I know that this is like totally a sharp turn that I'm about to make right now.And it's just a quick little tidbit.I know exactly what you're going to say.Kyah Gerber.
40:22Yes.Yeah.Kaya Gerber's post for her brother who very tragically passed awayis one of the most beautifully heartbreaking things I've ever read,if not the most ever in my life. And I encourage everyone to go read it.If they feel they can handle it, obviously.Yeah, I think that the way that she was able to word what that grief means to her now,
40:59I couldn't.I was just trying to wrap my head around how somebody could even come withthose, come up with those words. And that was part of what she was saying as well.Yeah. That she didn't think words could do it. And I think that somehow she did. And I just wasstunned by it. And I've reread it over and over and over again. It was so incrediblyarticulate. Like, I want to say, I'm trying to. It really made me want to be better with mywords. Honestly, reading it. I, it, I just.just was blown away.
41:38How naive of me to believe that language could transcend grief.I was like, exactly.Like how to even sum it up in that way, I just. No, you're so right. And that's, it was a beautiful, a beautiful tribute.A beautiful tribute to him.And I thought, I thought the same thing.Like, it's just.
42:01And when you have such a quick amount of time, you know, when you have, like when you're on Dancing with the Stars and you really have 15 seconds to like sum up how you feel in your relationship or and you know how much your dad means to you that I thought he did that so well. And I'm so glad that they got eights and it was a, you know, in the mix with everybody else.Because it has felt like they have been, they had been getting lower scores. So this was a good week for them.Tyler went next and we were like, we were preparing for this.We were preparing for this whole night. Now you guys all know why we were,
42:45while we were saying we have to get Tyler to dedication night. We absolutely must. And thank God we did.I was crying from the second the package startedbecause when Tyler started to get emotional talking about his momand not having that moment at his wedding and a mother's son dance and Shana being like, this can be the last dance with your mom and her choreography and having Tate being in it.And him just being so sad that, you know, his mom couldn't meet Tate,
43:21but that his mom brought Tate to him and he sees so much of her in Tate that,my God, I was sobbing.Like, I was ugly crying.Same. I mean, Sharna did such a wonderful job making this moment incredibly special for them to have for the rest of their lives. And just a huge congratulations to Tyler and Tate, who are really two just wonderful people that deserve the best. And just so incredibly happy for them. And this moment will live on forever. And it just, oh my God.I was like, I was like, we're having a baby.Crying my eyes out.Like I rewatched it like three times after before watching, before getting to Julia and Ezra.Because I was just like the moment where he lifts Tate up after revealing and the narration.
44:22The narration was such an amazing touch.Great touch. On this whole thing because obviously it starts off with him talking to his mom.and then the reveal that they are having a baby.I couldn't believe it.I mean, just such an incredible job narrating this entire storyand Sharna playing the role of his mom. And, you know, he lost his mom in such a sudden way.
44:49And I know that he has talked about.Yeah.Obviously, those final moments and how he feels. So I just, and Tate.she just deserves the world and she really does and what a star by the way she danced beautifullytate's movements were stunning i'm like what can't this girl do truly she can paint she can chopwood she can build a house she can run tyler's social media she can have his baby she can danceshe can do it all and she deserves it all and i and just they deserved this moment
45:29I love that she couldn't even get her thoughts out. They were like, how were you feeling? She was like, I don't know. And I can't even imagine how they feel in this moment.Like, just pure euphoria. But at the same time, they are also honoring Tyler's mom, which is incredibly emotional and sad as well. But a beautiful blessing on the other side of that.
45:51So just. And they're having a girl?Oh, my God.And then the reveal confetti. And hip saving the confetti off the ground. It was just so, so, so sweet.Oh, God, we're so happy for them.So happy for them.
46:04Tyler is going to be a great girl dad.As someone who only has brothers, like, you know, we got a Josh brother situation.Like, he's going to be a girl dad.He grew up with two brothers. He's having a girl. And he's going to be so sweet with her.I'm just so, so ecstatic for both of them.
46:24And thank you, everyone, for voting.Yes.We got them to dedication night.God.Keep those votes up.I was like, for the love of God, get them to dedication night.Please.I was getting protective over them each week.
46:38I know.I know.We were like, I just wanted them to have this moment so badly because we knew we werelike, this will be one of the most stunning moments.Sharner will put together an amazing dance. This will go down in the Dance with the Stars history books.Right.And not even just Dancing with Stars history books.
46:56For them, for them and their entire lives.they will look back on this moment and think about how cool and special it is and be able to watch this tape back. With their daughter. How cool.Right.And their daughter to be able to watch their dad lift up their mom and be like, I was in there.Like that.Oh, God, I just have chills.
47:17I just seriously, congratulations to the two of them.Just could not be happier.Couldn't be happier. And now, before we bring out Julia Stiles, just a quick dance break from Soshe Gomez topromote the new cat in the hat.And now what the fuck was that?Because you know what I did?Rewind.
47:34I'm not watching this cat in the hat dance.I'm watching Tyler Tate and Sharna's dance.Three more times. And this has quite literally nothing to do with this new version of cat and the hat.I hope it's good.I hope people enjoy it.The Mike Myers cat in the hat, I could not stand. It ruined.
47:53I really, really heavily disliked it as a child.and it has ruined the cat in the hat for me for the rest of my life probably.I don't know if I'll even read that book to my kids because of how much that Mike Myers movieI did not enjoy.I think that we talk about this once a quarter. We do.About how opposite we are that you hated it and it was one of my favorite movies ever.I used to rewatch this cat in the hat.
48:17Now, granted, I haven't seen it since I was a kid.But when it came out, that shit was on replay in my home. And I love Sosha, but it's just like I...I would love a discussion with productionand why they thought in between Tylerand Julia's dance was the right time for this. This is a first hour moment. Not a second hour moment.
48:38This is a first hour moment. In what world did they think it was appropriateto go from honoring Tyler's mother who's pastand a baby and gender revealto Heath Ledger, they thought, cat in the hat in the middle?Let's toss the cat in the hat promo in the middle. That's a real palette cleanser.
48:57Right?Let's make poor Julianne and Alfonso have to be like, wow, Tyler and Tate, what a beautiful moment. All right, everyone, here comes Succi Gomez to dance to honor her new movie. The Cat, that? It's like, come on.Why'd you have to do that to them? No, and no offense to anybody who did the dance with them, I didn't watch it.Hey, that's their job.
49:20You know, they got to be out there. It's no hit to them. The timing of it was crazy. But Julia Siles closed the show to, um, to,or Heath Ledger and 10 Things I Hate About You and that moment and her costume and the song. And just hearing her say, like, I wish I was able to call him and just say, like, look at theimpact this movie had and how many people love it for years and years and years to come afterit came out.
49:47And that is so true. And it was a beautiful dance.I know I say it every week, but Ezra's choreography just gets better and better, I think. And they did a perfect mix of, like, honoring the moment from the day.dance. And then what a reveal. We got JGL in the ballroom, the cast of 10. I gassed. I thought it was justgoing to end with that moment with the flower. And then when she turned around, they were all there.I went, oh my God. I know they've been keeping them secret the entire night. They hit that very well. And you know what I'm thinking? I was like, wow, Joseph Gordon Levitt saw Tyler and Tate's baby
50:20reveal. I don't know why my brain immediately went to. So true. I got a wonderful head.Yeah, I wonder if they'll hit him with a congrats. It's like, it was, it was really awesome, though, to honor Heath in that way.And the fact that the whole cast showed up was so cool.I mean, it's crazy. She was 17 years old.Like, what?I know.
50:44I know.I know.It really is so crazy.I think it just proves, you know, when Julia Sattas calls you answer, right?Like, she's like, hey, guys, I need you.And they're like, we got you.We got you.Which is so, so nice.
50:54And it was such a beautiful end.And I don't know if it was just because like maybe I was so taken aback by the surpriseBecause I don't know if it was just because after Tyler and Tate like I just felt like I knew everything that was happening in this episodeAnd I was like oh weird weird that I didn't where that they kept that from us about the about the cast reveal why we didn't know that.Yeah. Oh nobody from dancing with stars wanted us to know so we're so on the inside we didn't know that part it was it was a beautiful be viewed I think the beautiful count is must be at 150 for this for this for.the 20 minutes that we've been talking. What else are we supposed to say?I can look up adjectives, but that's the way it is.
51:33Synonyms.Well, different adjectives to describe.To describe.And synonyms to beautiful.Yeah.Yeah.Yeah.So.
51:41Stunning, fabulous, gorgeous, heartwarming. All of them. All of them. All the things. Are truly beautifully evening. And then as we said before, they always close. We know, because first of all, the credits start to roll. They haven't even said one name.
51:54It's like, okay. And it's 9.59 p.m.It's 9.59.I know what's going home right now. It's 9.59 and like 45 seconds. Is it kind of fucked up of me to hope that one year they do send someone home?Yeah. That out of the blue, they just throw them all off.
52:14They're like, oh, you thought you were safe.I just feel like for drama purposes, we would see some shocked faces. You absolutely what?Because they showed them. And then they had.have to like pretend be shocked that no one's going home yeah Alan's face like oh wow to pretend be shockedthat I was going um yeah you know what I think they're probably like we've had our fair share of dramathis week let's just let's wrap this one up if they really wanted to double down they would have been like
52:40let somebody home tonight oh my god well it's gonna be it's gonna be a double elimination next week yeahdouble elimination next week surely in the ballroom this is no joke I mean yeah it might be Halloweenthings are gonna get spooky spooky and scaryand Halloween, man, then we're going to get real, real fast.Yeah.Yeah.Things are going to get real.So.
53:02Well done, everybody.Dedication night was a smash hit as always. It was such an amazing night. And what a way to honor everybody in their lives. And you know what?If you're feeling emotional like me, tell some people you love them tonight.I feel you.Because I sure did.
53:22I was sending out.like you just mean so much to me.I did too. After Amber danced for her sister,I was like,I post on my story to Gia.I was like,God,
53:35having a sister rocks.Yeah,it's just like, you know,it makes you feel all the thingsand I'm such a bigproponent of telling people you love themand what you feel about them
53:47while they're here.I think that's very important. So if you're feeling inspired, you go do that. And if not, then, people to fuck off. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. Well, what a beautiful night. Love you guys.Yes. Love you. And we'll get into the rest of the episode where now that time and hours have
54:04passed, I am thinking about how much I brought up Justin Dibble League's music over and over and over again. So yeah,be prepared for that. I, you know what? My sincerest apologies now that I've had some hours to digest howmany times I said it. But you know what? If you agree, let me know.I think a lot of people. Don't be shy about agreeing. A lot of people are going to.are going to agree with you, don't you worry. Please don't be shy about agreeing. All right, that wraps it up.Bye.

56:20So reports are saying that Jay-Z has picked Jay-Zfor the Super Bowl halftime. The NFL says the NFL is innocent. And Jay-Z is picking Jay-Z?Jay-Z picks Clark? This is not...I picked Jay-Z.This is not surprising to me at all.
56:42I feel like the groundwork was sort of being built for this.I know there's been so many rumors, Miley, Bieber, like there's been so many sort of these popin the pop world of who would be doing it.But if you sort of look at like what Jay-Z has been doingand doing shows again and having these big moments,it could make you think like, ooh,it is it sort of the same logic that people thought with Miley.
57:08It was like, oh, Miley's doing these Hollywood Bowl shows. Is it in preparation for the Super Bowl? And it's like, well, Jay-Z went on a whole other tour, right? What's the number, Super Bowl this is?This is 60.I hate to admit that I'm,I see the Roman numerals.I just don't.
57:25I got to look at it.I got no idea.60?Two, three? It is 61.61.I felt like last year was a big number.Yeah.
57:37Super Bowl 60 half time show.I heard that.Yeah.So 61.It's on Valentine's Day.Yeah.That's going to be something for people.Yeah.
57:47And here's the thing.Like my brain immediately goes Beyonce, right?Like I'm like, okay, I'm just Jay-Z.And it got to get Beyonce.Beyonce has to come out.So that makes me happy.I feel like Valentine's Day.It's just an easy solution.
57:59Go Friday or Saturday. And then Sunday you watch the Super Bowl.Yeah, definitely. That makes Valentine's Day actually way easier for most people.Unless you were someone that books Valentine's Day way in advance and you have no idea that the Super Bowl is that day. Then honestly, the reservations are going to be available.Yeah.Actually, the reservations will probably be available.
58:23If there's a restaurant you've been wanting to go to,but who's going?I don't like, they do the price fix thing on Valentine's Day,which I don't like.You know, let me order what I want.To pre-fix or price fix?I don't know.Pre-fix.
58:36Pre-fix.But it is a fixed price. It is a fixed price for fixed menu.Yeah, you're right.I know. That's why going like the day before or day after is usually better.Yeah, that is.Or you find a restaurant.
58:50doesn't do that.Yeah, yeah, yeah. But anyways, besides the point.Jay-Z, Jay-Z, I'm pumped about this.I can't say I went one way or another.I gotta be honest, I feel like I'm always just happy about the Super Bowl halftime.Like, I don't think I'm ever particularly mad about who they choose for the Super Bowlhalftime show.
59:08Because, shocker, it is always someone pretty well known.Right, it's like, oh, okay, we get like a free great performance.Yeah.I don't know. Why is everyone always up in arms about who they pick?Like, I don't know.Yeah, I'm not sure either. And I know everyone really wants,
59:27everyone always kind of roots for their favorite artist. And I think with the Miley stuff,it was our generation that really was hoping it would be catered, maybe to our generation.Yeah, but Jay-Z is not.I feel like Jay-Z is.We've had like old rock bands playing.Absolutely is, but Jay-Z also appeals to people a bit older.
59:50But I feel like he appeals to all ages.Yeah, you think Gen Z?I don't know about, I don't know about Gen Z.Who are we appealing to?Who are we appealing to them? We're not getting Taylor show if we're not getting Harry Styles.Well, I think Gen Z loves bad money. All right, so then they got last year?
01:00:06Right, right, right, right.Give this one to us.I mean, also, like, are Jensi even watching the Super Bowl? No, they're probably just complaining. We're just complaining about it.We're talking about them like they're aliens. What do they do with their time? You are borderline Gen Z.
01:00:20Oh, stop.You are.Okay, but I love Jay Z.And Miley Cyrus and Bad Bunny.Like, I, that's what I'm saying.I'm all over the map.And I think realistically, Jay Z will put together a great show.Fantastic.
01:00:34He's Jay Z.He's fucking Jay Z.Anybody's going to be upset about Jay Z.Shut the fuck up.Yeah, yeah, yeah.Sorry.Well, people are on network television.I can't say that.
01:00:45I would even love a thing.Jay Z brought out Justin Timberlake.Well, I was gonna say the exact same thing. And you know what?Listen, he should.Everybody's got a problem with Justin Timberlake, right? It's like everyone did like a full switch on him.Not everyone, but a lot of people did like a full switch on Justin Timberlake.
01:00:59Yes.The DUI not good.Yeah.Really bad.Can't be doing that.No.The cheating on.Yeah, alleged.
01:01:09Alleged cheating on Jesse Beal.Yeah.Not good.He gets pulled over again before this.this is going to ruin the Super Bowl.Right.Like, yeah, there's been some not,we've all seen the pictures.
01:01:20We've seen them.New Orleans.Justin Timberlake is one of the greatest of all time.Hands down.In my opinion.I think it should be in a lot of people's opinions.Look at that man's...You love Justin Timberlake's music.
01:01:40Everybody should.Yeah.Yeah.I like Justin.What's it called?Music.What?What comes around?
01:01:48No, no, no.I mean, come on.No, she knows the names of the songs. He spent these lonely nights.No.What's it called? The things that they sell.Like, he sold his...
01:01:57His master's.His catalog.His catalog.Yeah.He did that.Look at Justin Timberlake's catalog.And tell me he doesn't havesome of the greatest songs.
01:02:06He does have fantastic songs. He does have fantastic songs.I'm passionate about Justin's music. He sold for just over 100 million. Now, here's the thing.Has he been back to the Super Bowl?since the Janet Jackson situation.Imagine he brings them both that, redemption?
01:02:24Well, of course now the Super Bowl halftop show is run by different people.JZ is in charge. That's the beautiful thing, is he can do whatever he wants.Yeah.And he bought out Justin Timberlake for Holy Grail.Has Justin Timberlake, I mean, he should bring out Justin Timberlake, but is it,has Justin Timberlake hasn't stuff anywhere near?He returned to the...
01:02:47No, in 2018.He performed in the Minnesota one that we were at.His third time performing. That was his third time.He did 2001.But he wasn't, was he headlined?I don't know if he was a head. The headline Super Bowl.
01:03:04He headlines 2018.Justin Timberlake headlined the 2018 season.Well, let's look that up.There's no way.He, that's the one that the Eagles won.Justin Timberlake.Justin Timberlake was the headliner of the 2018.Oh, my parents were there for that.
01:03:22You know, I was so...You're like, is he coming anywhere near this?I really, I was like, have they invited him back at all?No, they invited him back in a big way.I forgot about the malfunction. All right, so lock him in to coming out with Jay Z.That's got to be...Well, that was, yeah.
01:03:36Oh, what this band.Okay, I was so in, of course, in on the game. And he did it that I didn't.Yeah, yeah.I don't think I really paid any attention to this halftime show because the Eagles were playing. And I like was, they won.I was, yes, they were. But I believe I was like famously beat the Patriots.
01:03:55Famously beat the Patriots.I do believe I was like dry heaving by myself in the bathroom like at Joe's house.Like just deep breathing.Just being like, can they do this? And they will. And they will do this. Now I'm on such a Justin Timberlake music kick lately and I think that this is where this is all stemming from with me.Has Justin Timberlake been back to the?
01:04:15And I'm me forgetting about the malfunctioned.Do you not like his music that much?I just feel like I'm not getting that from you.No, I absolutely do.You don't love it.I usually do, but I'm not like, ah, but I, I mean, I love it.Performer.I like it a lot.
01:04:30He's an amazing dancer, amazing performer.Yeah, he's had some personal flub ups, but so many people have had, I'm not defending hisflub ups, but so many people I've had very similar flub ups to him that are still beloved. For sure, for sure. You know what I mean?Like, people have just decided.like they just pick and they gowe're never forgiving him but we'll forgive
01:04:49this person yeah yeah you knowso I just want to acknowledge that he does havesome of the best music of all timein my personal opinionGod student tie at the Super Bowl that would hit lookit's not even stupid like look look upI don't have my phone on me so I'm going to tell you tolook up Justin Timberlake's albums go to Spotify
01:05:05and go to his most populargo down go to his albumsI've been uh future sex love sounds great oneand thenjustified yeah okayHe testified, not, he wasn't quite there yet.Rock your body?Cry Me a River?
01:05:19Yeah, I mean, this is really amazing. But go to, where was, what goes around comes around?I think that's future sex. That's future sex. This album. No, this album is great.Love Stone?Sexy Back had the world in a chokehold for like two years.
01:05:35It's still, if you asked me my top five favorite song,Sexy Back is in my top five favorite songs.Summer Love?I mean, I just, sorry. They should have brought Justin to her.I'm like back, I can't believe you missed his big Super Bowl halftime show in 2018.We were so tired from our trip to Minnesota. Here I am loving Justin's Herbaly so much, not even knowing that he did 2018.
01:06:00But you're basically pitching him to do the Super Bowl halftime show that he did eight years ago.No, I mean.Yeah.It's more so I'm just talking about how good his songs are. They are. They are fantastic. And it's like, I will be ecstatic if he comes out and just whole girl with Jay-Z.That will be incredible.
01:06:18The way that song feels to me,Holy Grail. There are certain songs.Tickles.Right.And everybody has those certain songs for them that just spark a memory and tickles your spine. That should be your guy's walkout song.Holy grail.
01:06:38The beat drop.No.Well, no.I don't like it that much.It just sparks a memory and it just has that tickle.Yeah.And, you know, I was listening, here's the thing.I was listening to Jay-Z this morning.
01:06:53I had Tom Ford on, you know, like, I've just, I love Jay-Z's music.Yeah.You know, in Jay-Z, if he plays a Super Bowl, I think it's a guaranteed Beyonce comes out, guaranteed.I think it's pretty much a lock as well.I wonder if, you know, you know, famously, Jay-Z has a lot of songs that are very popular with Kanye.Do you think he would play any of those?Well, he has been.He has been playing them on his shows.
01:07:20He just, like, doesn't include Connie's parts of us.Yeah, yeah, yeah.Yeah, because he does have some.Great songs.Great songs. And also, like, I'm saying, how do you leave them out of his Super Bowl?Run this town? Also, some of his best songs were produced by Connie, like the beats and stuff.
01:07:32So it's like he's, he's very tight.Otis.I mean.We're dealing with the Super Bowl in L.A.?Where's the Super Bowl this year?Oh, yeah.L.A.Click.
01:07:43Yeah, I mean, wow, there's just really so many. That's unfortunate.Yeah.Here's the thing with. It's just a total.turn from what people had thought. You know, it's like a Justin Bieber or a Miley Cyrus halftime show is a, it's a, it's a, very different.I don't know if Miley appeals to more than J.Z overall.
01:07:59I really don't.It's a fair question. It does bring up a fair question.Well, and if Jay-Z's the one deciding, I think he agrees.Right.He's like, I appeal the most.Or do you think it really came down to the last second where, like, they were trying to get someone and then, and Miley didn't work out or these other people didn't work out.And J.C.,'s like, I guess I'll have to do it.
01:08:18Does Jay Z pay himself?Exactly.Well, actually, isn't that a famous thing that you don't get paid to do this?I don't think you get paid for this.Oh, right.Google that.Back to Jay Z as a person, though, for a second.Yeah.
01:08:31Because I said I do love Jay Z's music. It is really crazy. He cheated on Beyonce and, like, she wrote a whole album about it.Like, we just...And then he wrote a whole album about it.I know. And, like, we...I feel like we moved on pretty quickly.
01:08:41Yeah.As a society past that whole thing.Yeah.Yeah.Okay, so they're really not getting paid. They cover like the cost of the show, which is.Right. And you know what and that because that's one of the things where it's like when that does happen and the couple says I will publicly disclose like when you release an album like she did.But then you don't break up.
01:09:08It's like, well, what are we supposed to, you know? What do we do with that? And do you remember when Beyonce said, of course some shit's.gonna go downwhen there's a billion dollarson an elevator. And isn't that the truth?I wonder how Solange and Jaycee
01:09:25get along these days. And that elevator.Becky with the good hair. It's justchills when you think about that. You know what? You're 100% correct. If there was a billion dollars
01:09:37in an elevator and I was in there, some shit would go down.Yeah.Like, you know?True words. It's so true. But I thinkIf I'm already setting the odds of the guest appearances,
01:09:55Beyonce has got to be number one.Rihanna.Timberlake.Rihanna.M&M.Alicia Keys.I think Eminem would be.Alicia Keys.
01:10:04Alicia Keys, definitely.I think Eminem would be pretty high.Alicia Keys, Eminem.I'm putting Timberlake and Beyonce.Beyonce's a lock, I would say.I'm sorry.I'm going to pass away.Blue Ivy.
01:10:16I'm going to.Blue Ivy.Actually, Blue Ivy.for sure.I feel like I'm having an out-of-bodyexperiencepicturingJZ,
01:10:24Beyonce,Justin Timberlake,Alicia Keys.It feels...They're going to bring out a lot of people.It feels like the2020Super Bowl.
01:10:36Of when it wasDr. Dre,M&M,Kendrakeh,I think.Or more star-studded,I would say.God, it's really,
01:10:45I'm just...I could see Jay Z calling people up.Lincoln Park? No, people are saying Lincoln Park would be like a big one because that would at least likeRight, right. You're like covering the non-wrap people. We're cross-genering.When I just said Lincoln Park, my whole body shuck.
01:11:01I could just see him calling up these people like Markoff February 14th.Right, right, right. If Jay-Z calls you answer.Because Jay-Z and also Jay-Z is not doing a solo show ever.I mean, all the shows he's been doing recently, he's been.bringing out guests at every show. He's been bringing out a lot of people, which is why he's probablybeen practicing. I feel like you might have an album coming up, too. People have been speculatingthat too. So this is all like part of his master plan. Wow. Ferell would probably come out.
01:11:32Wow. I got. Yeah. Sorry, I'm just taking a deep breath about this all.Look, I feel like I've said enough. We've certainly talked ourselves into this being a stackedperformance. You watch him come out now and it's just him. No.That would be shocking. When did Justin Timberlake's tour end, his world tour? That nobody went to, and I honestly feel like...When did it begin, really?July 30 of 2025.
01:12:04July 30 of 2025, it officially concluded. He's available.I mean, he brought him out already.Yeah, he did.He did.I just feel like we've now talked so much about Jay-Z coming out and performing thatwhat if it's actually reported that he's not doing a halftime show?Right, imagine.
01:12:21He was like, that actually was false. It's not me.Yeah.But it feels like it feels like it'll probably be him.And for all those who wanted the Miley, the Justin, the Harry, you know, their time will come.I really do think that.Harry's too busy.Harry's very busy right now.
01:12:38Yeah, absolutely is.And I think that they will have their moment. And if they really, like, if they really wanted to do.do Super Bowl halftime show, they will do it at some point. You know what I'm saying? If Justin Bieber was like, I want to do the halftime show, they're going to do it.Yeah, I don't really want Justin Bieber to do it right now in the stage that he's in.He likes to perform slower songs right now.
01:13:09And I'm with you on the fact that I actually kind of like when the Super Bowl halftime showperformer, they got a lot of years under their house.I was going to say, I don't know if Harry Stiles, like, I could see a lot ofof older people being like, what the fuckto Harry Styles. And I love Harry Styles.Well, then you could say the same for like when the weekend did it.Yeah.Yeah. I guess. Yeah.
01:13:31Let me tell you.Harry Styles would sing one song and win all those people over in a second.Because he is an incredible performer. He's a great performer.I feel like it's a lose. Lose. Like every Super Bowl halftime show, there's half people saying that was the worst thing ever and half people mean.Yeah.But that always happens.
01:13:46That's just the way it goes. That's where you agree to.And another year that Taylor Swift doesn't do it.I mean, I don't know.People want Taylor Swift to do it every single year.So it's maybe eventually she will do it.Who knows?Yeah, maybe eventually.
01:13:58It's like stop pressure.Like, why?I know.Let it breathe.Yep.Yep.Moving on Jay Lo and Brett Goldstein are casually dating.Good for them.
01:14:08The movie.I'm not like too much like.I'm not as passionate about this as Justin Timberlake's catalog.Do you think they were dating during that, during the movie?I think maybe it sparked some crushes.Yeah, right.Jennifer Lopez. In office romance, one might say.
01:14:25The office romance are seeing each other.Source tells page six that things right now are casual. They were seen out at the same party. They were spotted arriving at and leaving a talent manager's party in Los Angeles on the 16th, reportedly in the same car.Hell yeah. But they made sure to enter the party separately. That's like always a tell too. When you're going out of your,
01:14:50if nothing's going on,you're just walking into the party together. You're like, we carpooled. This isn't a big deal. But if you're trying to hide something,it's like, oh, maybe you should go in before me.And I'll wait five minutes, then you go in.Totally.
01:15:01This is a, I don't know, someone had their sassy pants on talking to page six. They said the one thing they have in commonis they both enjoy going out to parties and restaurants.Who snarkily added, unlike her ex,Ben Affleck, who always had a scowl on his face.
01:15:18when they were out.Oh, okay.Another guy I love, Ben Affleck.Really?Yeah.I do.Sorry, am I even, like, in trouble for saying I love all these problematic men?No, no, no.
01:15:33I just feel like no one really has too strong of an opinion about Ben Affleck these days. He's just been winning me over in his interviews lately. He seems really happy. He does seem to be letting it fly a little bit.I never loved Ben Affleck before.Yeah.But lately? You know, maybe I'm using the L word too flippantly.
01:15:50But lately Ben in his interviews, I don't know if anyone's noticed. There's a little light to him.Yeah.Yeah.He seems happy. He seems like he's having a nice time.I did see a big rumor that I guess he and some Netflix exec had been feuding. And maybe the Netflix exec quit or was fired or something.
01:16:10Don't call me.Don't call me on that. But it seems like there was tension perhaps after this movie came out that Noah gave a D plus two.Or no, when I see, here's the thing. That was awful. When I see people like Kerry Washington love and support Ben Affleck, it makes me want to loveand support Ben Affleck because I trust Kerry Washington.Does that make sense?
01:16:31It absolutely does. You trust her judgment.I trust her judgment. But here's the thing, like a lot of people love Brad Pitt, like in the industry. And then a lot of people would be like, well, he doesn't seem like a great guy. That's the one. That is one that I, right.I have trouble with Brad Pitt.
01:16:46Because Tom Cruise is the same way.So many people have so many great things.Love Tom Cruise.Listen, Woody Allen was making movies with A-List for a long time.Yeah.Okay.Well, you know why.I'm just saying.
01:16:57I'm just saying. You're right. You're bringing up valid points. We're not. We're not trying to compare Woody Allen. We can't compare Ben Affleck to Woody Allen. It's so not the same thing. No, no, I'm not.
01:17:06Ben Affleck's kids aren't changing their last name. And by the way, Ben Affleck's kids are good with him.And so is Jen Gardner.Jen Gardner and Ben Affleck are great friends.Yeah, yeah. And, you know, maybe Jaylo does it.I didn't fuck with Ben, but Jim Garn does. She fucked with him enough to get back together.
01:17:22Exactly.And called him her one great love. So, like, I am a Ben Affleck fan.Yeah.I'm not saying.Brad Pitt, I have trouble.I have trouble with the Brad Pitt thing.I really do because I can't stop talking.
01:17:37I'm like spilling out all.Like, I feel like I'm sitting here and just like, like, I don't know what the word is,but it's like, every thought I have is coming out of my mouth. There's no filter. With Brad Pitt.so, like, so many people have so many lovely things to say about Brad Pitt, includingJennifer Aniston, which is insane. And insane considering what Brad Pitt did to Jennifer Aniston, she still likes and respects
01:18:05him.Yeah.But that doesn't mean.That's a Jennifer Anderson.No, but I'm not defending him.I'm just saying like, could different experiences.Publicly.Yeah.
01:18:14Publicly, but privately she could be like he's a big dick. You never know what she's saying behind closed doors. And she can't like, in an interview.to ask, be ass about him and be like, yeah, I fucking hate that guy.Right.And then, you know, that would be,obviously when your kids want nothing to do with you,
01:18:27it raises an eyebrow like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, you're like, why do their kids want nothing to do with them? And it's just really unfortunate that Brad Pitt gets better looking with agebecause he is seriously so handsome and getting more handsome by the day.And I find that to be annoying. So, I'm sure so to his children.Right?Well, I don't know if his children care that he's getting.
01:18:49No, no.Well, no, well, well, that he's just.state, like every year he's just like, people are just like, oh my God.Right, everyone's always so much. He's so good looking. And meanwhile, his kids are like, oh, really?Because my dad's a dick.Yeah.
01:19:00So, who knows?Who knows?Really, we don't know what's going on behind closed doors for these, for these people. You really don't know, but I would say, and you guys correct me if I'm wrong.Yeah.That it seems as though Ben Affleck is probably better than Brad Pitt.I think that's easy.I think that's a pretty, I think that's a lock.
01:19:19And I think it's a lot.And him being friends with Matt Damon his whole life.Knock on wood.Knock on wood.I hope that's a lot.But I think it's safe to say for me to say that I love Ben Affleck right now.Hey, we got, you know, we love Glenn Powell. And we love and we trust Glenn Powell.
01:19:31Glenn Powell loves Tom Cruise. He does. You know, you do a movie with Tom Cruise.I'm sure you're like, wow, I fucking love this guy.You don't actually know. How much does he know Tom Cruise? You're not going home with him at the end of the night.Exactly.
01:19:44Exactly.The person that someone goes home at the end of the night is so different than how they are.Like as a friend, you know, Tom, Tom Cruise could be way different inside his home.Yeah.Or yeah.Imagine Tom Cruise just at like 9 p.m. in his house.Like, isn't that crazy?I'm picturing him like risky business, which is definitely not how he is or else I don't know if, you know, I don't know if he's sliding around.
01:20:05You don't know risky business.I know.I know the movie.I just never seen it.But you don't know the reference?Yeah, but you know the reference. What everybody dressed like, you know, the Halloween and people do it for Halloween. And he's dancing around in socks.
01:20:16Okay.I know that scene where he does that now when I.Yeah, that's what I picture Tom Cruise at night doing. But I don't think of that.I think he's in a room alone studying Scientology being weird.Yeah, well, the Scientology thing really is a tough, tough, tough one.Very.Yeah.
01:20:31Yeah.Anyways, what were you talking about?Brett Goldstein, you know, poor Brett Goldstein. This is about him, okay? He's a sweet man who has locked down J.Lo seemingly. And he's very funny.I think J.Lo needs a funny guy.Not that Ben Affleck wasn't funny.
01:20:46I think he's funny, but he's like in a funny depressed boss.Austin way. And Brett Goldstein's funny in like a witty British humor way. Yeah, like Brett Goldstein's in like, I'm having fun. Yeah, yeah. He's writing, you know, he's doing working on shows like shrinking and Ted Lassow and just like cheesy being, you know, funny with a, the shows have some light to them. Yes. Ben is funny in a, I have a lot of trauma way. And Brett is funny. But are you basing Brett more off the characters he's played? Like, are you?Or have you seen a lot of him, like, in real life? No, I've watched some interviews of him.And I'm not saying he's Roy Kent in real life. And he's, and...Well, that's what I'm saying. It's like, Ben-Athelich probably played some nice and funny guys.
01:21:28Or the guy, in shrinking, he kills Jason Siegel's wife.Like, it's...Which is still the craziest thing that everyone in that show is like, we love him, even thoughhe killed his life.Well, it was, it's a point, you know, they didn't immediately love him. It's still...You're not becoming a friend with that guy.Anyway, you know, I never saw.
01:21:48office romance. Did you see it?No. Did you catch that one? I didn't catch that one.I didn't watch it either, but I'll be honest. Seeing this now makes me want to watch it.I want to go back and watch. I just started like zoning off in the distance like, do I regret everything I just said in the past 40 minutes?Like, should we strap this entire episode where I'm talking about how much I love Justin too fucking Ben-house?Yeah, yeah. Throw Brad Pitt in the mix. And I threw Brad Pitt in the mix. Like I'm not trying to be like this, uh, man, apollo. It's not what this is about.I want that to be very clear.
01:22:21It's about Justin Dipperlake's music.Spendip...It's about the art. It's about the art, and it's not about the man himself.Okay?Oh, man.I want that to be clear.Like, I'm going to be thinking about this all night.
01:22:34You really went through the trifecta.I can't believe I had Justin Tiber Lake Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt.We threw spring the little Tom Cruise in there. And Tom Cruise and Jay-Z!Yeah.Oh, my God.Yeah.Let's give a shout out to all the wonderful women out there that don't have all these things that are, you know, that we have to talk here.
01:22:56Listen how we didn't bring up one woman because they show up for their children. They show up for their children and we don't got to, you know, jump through hoops to decide, well, their arts really good. We're trusting them about their judgment on these guys.Exactly, which we hope is fair.Thank you. That's why I'm saying, Kerry Washington, Bennett, like, whatever, whatever. We hope is there. But, you know, good luck to J-Lo and Brett Goldstein as they venture into this pair.
01:23:23It feels like it could be a good match for her.But you just never know. Will there ever be the right match for J-Lo?One would argue it was Ben Affleck, you know?We really thought it was.I really thought it was.But could be Brett. And so it goes.
01:23:42Another.Yes, it does.Moving on.I have to take a deep breath.after all that.Shall we move on to Sammy and Tyreek?I was going to say more and I said, just shut up and moving along.
01:23:54No, no, no.We'll finish this out.If you guys have no clue who the hell we're talking about, that is also okay. But Sammy and Tyreek, they're from Love Island, UK.Sammy won All-Stars with Kierana mere eight months ago.
01:24:13That ended, I think, in like February. That ended,She was with Tyreek. There was potentially some rumors that her and Tyreek had spoken before she was on the show. They knew each other already. Tyreeks also done, he did Love Island games, I'm pretty sure. He's been all over. You really can't miss the guy when a Love Island season is on because he's commentating on everything. He's a streamer. He streams on and you can constantly see his opinion. It's always coming up in my TikTok. And they started dating. And then bam, pregnancy announcement, they're having a baby.So naturally the fans were sort of doing the math. And they also were on a carpet on Monday night where the bump was debuted. And there was a video I saw that it looked like she was asked maybe how far along she was.And it looked like she mouthed four months.
01:25:11We didn't hear her say it.It was someone trying to lip read that she was saying around four months.and you know that just pushed the timeline even closer together it was like wow things happenedvery fast but they seem very happy and they're together and there's not much more you can judge onthat besides you scratch your head a little bit and if you're kieran you're definitely like huhright like listen when it comes to a pregnancy you don't want to be like what the hell no noyou're happy for them they're happy no no obviously the timeline is a little bit the timelineHazie, perhaps.
01:25:46For sure, but if they're happy, then I'm happy.Yeah.And they've been posting, like, her friends have been posting videos, and they've been funny and excited for this. But we've been following along with their relationship, and it seemed all good. And then this is a big reveal. So a lot has changed from where she'll be February of 26th to February.
01:26:15of 27.Quite the change.Quite the change in a year.Quite the change. Yes. Yes.But that's showbiz, baby.Yeah, well, good for them.Yeah, and I'm sure we willI'm sure we'll hear all about it.
01:26:28Like, Tyreek has joked about streamingweddings, showers, streaming anything. Really, he's looking to streamwhatever he can stream. I think that's the streaminglife. Good.I think he made a joke about streaming the birth.I made a face.Oh, good. Good. Good.
01:26:43Yeah, that's a joke you should make. No, yeah, no.Yeah.Asshole.Like you gave him one of these.Really?Yeah.No.
01:26:53Yeah.You know.And he talks a mile a minute.You know, he talks so fast that guy.But yeah, wow.Well, hopefully they keep some things pride.You know, I don't think, I don't think.Something should.
01:27:04But when you're, when you're streaming, when you're, they stream everything.They know no bounds.They're like, let's stream.Their life's a stream.Yep.One whole stream.That's astream?
01:27:19Life's a dream.Life's a dream.What's that song?Life's a stream?Is it a Timberlake song?Life's a bitch?No.Life's a stream?
01:27:31Life's a dream?Or a dream?You mean the one that David Beckham was saying?Merrily, Maryle, Mary.Life's a, but a dream.No.Life's a stream.Life is but a stream.
01:27:44Merely, merrily, Mary.Ro, row, row, row.Are you talking?Islands in the stream? No, we're saying row, row, row. What's the words? To ro ro ro ro your boat. What's the words?
01:27:55Please bring up the words of row row, row your boat.Gently down the stream.Merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.Yes, life is but a dream.Gently down the stream.Gently down the stream, life is but a dream.
01:28:09There it is.That's what I'm thinking of.Words to live.I was thinking of the classic row row.row, row your boat. How could we possibly not think of that first?Well, duh. What song is that?
01:28:23Hit single.Row, row your boat.Ro row your boat.Gently down the stream. And we should all remind ourselves of that.Life is but a dream. How about that? And that wraps up.
01:28:36Is how they feel having a baby. And being on stream all the time.Gently down the stream.Gently down the stream.Yeah.All right.Well, that wraps up the topics. Some hard-hitting news.
01:28:47Sure does. Before we get into the pop corner, let's be honest, sometimes choosing what to watchis less about what you want to watchand more about what mood are you in.Maybe you want to laugh until you cry, maybe you want edge of your seat drama,
01:29:03maybe you want to escape reality entirely. And I love that Amazon Primelets you follow that feeling beyond the screen. You can find the shows, movies, and sportsthat give you exactly the vibeyou're craving on Prime Video.and with Prime's fast shipping, you can get the things you need to make that moment
01:29:19even better delivered right to your door.Absolutely. My current vibe is romance.I just want something that I can get completely lost in,and I'm definitely ordering some popcornbecause that's part of the experience.I've been watching Drama on Prime, and it's been perfect, and obviously I'm ordering snacks to go with it.
01:29:35It's basically your entertainment and shopping, sidekick, that gets the assignment.Because when you're creating your night, you shouldn't have to settle for just watching the feeling. You can actually live it.From streaming to fast shipping,it's on prime. All right, let's get into the pop corner. We're taking your hot takes or voicemailsyour opinions. Noah play the first track. Hey, Rhea, Fran, and Noah. This is Danny calling from
01:30:00Baltimore, Maryland. Absolutely love listening to your guys' podcast every week. Wanted to askif you have seen the discourse going on online about the shows that Miley did at the Hollywood Bowlthis past weekend.I know there was a lot of criticism onlinefor how she wasn't really singing all of her hit songs. It was mostly the audience that she was pointing the mic to sing for most of the timethat she was just talking for a lot of the show. Now, personally, I love Miley, always have always well,
01:30:44and would love the chance to be able to see her.You know, I know that she has stopped touring, really doing shows anymore. So I would have been happy regardless, but at the same time, I guess I can kind of see why some people who win to the showmight have been a little upset with the experience.I know it was a ton of money for tickets. But I know that you guys were talking about wanting to,be able to go. So just wanted to see if you saw the discourse, if you still wish you had gone.
01:31:20If you were happy you didn't go, regardless, always will love Miley and love hearing what youguys have to say. So thanks. We did see the discourse and we love Miley. And you know, dare I say, I feel a little spoiled because they, we've had Miley, we've seen Miley sing five feet in front of us.and that was an experience, I will never forget. And she's such an amazing performer.I think that maybe there were some kinks with this. And I did see a lot of criticism.I will say I saw, like people saying,
01:32:02oh, she didn't sing a lot of the hits. And my first thought was, oh, you know, how bad, how bad could be.be, you know. And I watchvideos ofspecifically, I think it wasFriday night, wecan't stop.
01:32:22And it was a lot ofholding the mic in the air. And thenI went, you know, because mygut instinct isto defend Miley always.Like, she is one of ourall-time favorites. We love her so much. But yes, when you kind of
01:32:40include the hype around the showand all the peopletraveling and the price and all these things watching for multiple choruses where she's notsinging the chorus. I can understand that. I can understand being frustrated with that. But there are also so many people that were there who loved the experience and had so much fun.I also saw a lot of diehard Miley fans who love base persuades say that the crowd wasn't asinto the base persuade stuff and maybe that's frustrating or you know you're it's the basepersuade show that was the name of the show and then people who are there maybe are more casual
01:33:22or whatever they just really love mylie's hits and then they expect those to be the biggermoments but mylie's really into what she's putting out right now and that's her prerogative so yousee like there's there's both and i'm sure the people that were loudest about the criticismwe're there to see the hits. And maybe we're dissatisfied with that.Yeah, I think you kind of nailed all the points.I don't know if I have anything else to addbecause I think you're right in terms of like,
01:33:48this is the base persuade show.People are going.Holy shit.We haven't seen Miley performance so long. They think they're getting like an Eros tour.Miley version. That's not the case. You're getting a base persuades show
01:33:59where for the encore she's going to throw in,we can't stop and flowers and the biggest hits. And Miley was none to,pleased with the criticism. No, she was not.On the second night, she was like, you know, firing back.Yeah. She's like, why not doing cartwheels across the stagebecause I'm singing live. Yeah. So I feel like she didn't
01:34:16take, you know, she wasn't happy with the criticism. No, it justwas like, oh, I didn't know I was supposed to sing every fucking word.Yeah, which, like you said, you know, I dorun to. Sometimes you do say all the words. I do run to defend Miley most of the time. All the time. But if I was there on the second night and she said that, I would have beenlike, oh, interesting. That is an interesting. It's like you're a singer.
01:34:37Yeah.And people did buy expensive tickets to your show and they traveled here. For sure.Because you also said you know people will travel to you.Yeah.So when you're acknowledging that you know people are going to travel to you,but then you're still not going to sing all the words.I don't know.
01:34:54We got to pick here. You know what I mean?Yeah. It is very tricky. And I also think, like I said, there's a bit of not like knocking off the dust becauseshe could crush a performancewith the drop of a hat, really. But it's been a while for her doing shows like this
01:35:17or this caliber or putting together a showand what she wanted to look like. And I think that sometimesthere's a little bit of a disconnectwith what Miley wants to do creativelyand what serves her the mostand serves her and fulfills herand what she wants to do versus what the audience
01:35:35and the fan base wants her to do and expects from her.And that can be really difficultbecause I think Miley has 100% deserve the rightto do what she wants to doand this is what she wanted to do.So it's hard to criticize that in the sense. It's like, well, this is the show that she plannedand the show that she wanted to do.
01:35:58And it took a lot of her to do this in the first place.I thought we were never going to see Miley do a showlike this ever again.Like we thought, I really thought she was totally done performing at this level or at leastwould have been for a really long time.So on the same side of it, it's like, hey, let's like appreciate what we're getting, you know?I think at the end of the day, she just doesn't really love live performing full-blownconcerts anymore.
01:36:22Yeah.And I think that she has had so many different eras of music that those, some of those pasteras and past hitsshe just don't resonate with heras much now and she just doesn'tI don't think she loves doing them as much as the fanswant to hear themand I think like that can
01:36:43you can clash on that.At the end of the day, bangers was her best album. And andright bangers was your opinion. We can't stop.Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.Yeah. I mean, yeah.So it's really
01:36:57it's tricky. And the same with Wrecking Ball.It's like I don't,Does she really want to be singing?Racking Ball?I don't think she does.Adore you, Reckyball.We can't stop.Yeah.
01:37:08So.Yeah.It's hard. It's hard. And she puts so much in a new era.She feels so, like, creatively fulfilled with what she's doing. And Barry's Persuades and all these things. And I think she just wants her audience to love the new stuff that she does just as much.
01:37:27And sometimes that doesn't happen. And I'm sure that's frustrating.writing too. Totally. Yeah. All right. Let's go to the next one. Hey, guys. I'm such a big fan. I love all three of you guys. ShoutNoah. Love you. Um, okay, my high take is that I think that in every state, there needs to be a driver'stest for people over the age of 75 or like, I think I'm like 70. I feel like I be driving next topeople and they just do not do not know how to drive and I drive by them. And I really, realize, oh, they're an old person. And, like, you kind of feel bad, but also at the same time, like, should you really
01:38:06be behind the wheel? So, like, I just, I don't know.Like, give me your guys' opinions on that.Like, I feel like we need a driver's test every couple of years for people over the ageof 70 because I feel like there's too many people driving now that are just too old to bedriving. And that might sound mean. But I think that it needs to be, it's not talked about enough.
01:38:30and I think that we finally talk about it.But yeah, I love all of you guysand I love, love, love watching your show.Bye.Thank you.Love you. She's so cute and let me get,I want to say she's definitely young.
01:38:42Yeah, well, but I 100% agree with her.I absolutely 1,000% agree.Yeah.Because as somebody who just renewed their driver's licenseand saw how easy it was to do a eye test online.I didn't even have to go anywhere.Right.I did an eye test over zero.
01:39:00with who on the Zoom called themselves ophthalmologists whatever and said yep you pass it was soeasy yeah that it made me think of this exact thing where you 100% I think after the age of 75you need to get another right because you need to get another driver's test because if you and ifyou are over that age and you're still good to goYou pass the test, no problem, hopefully.I just, you know, I think of, like my grandma still drives. And the thought of me saying to her, because of your age, you got to take a new test,oh my God, she would be infuriated.
01:39:45But I guess, yeah, I think it has to happen.I know, I understand.Because actually, you're right. There are so many accidents that happen because of, you know, people on the road, they can't see.And this really doesn't exist.from what we're looking at.Only a small number of stateshave age-based requirements
01:40:04for behind-the-wheel tests.Illinois requires a road teststarting at age 87,following a 2026 changethat lifted the mandatory road testfor ages 79 to 86.87 is up there. And listen, both my grandpas are past 87.
01:40:19I would like for them both. They both still drive.I would like for them both to takeanother driver's test.I would.Do they drive you?I have driven with both of themand they both have their own separate issues.
01:40:29Yeah, right, right.Noano gets tickets left and right and accidents that he claims is not his fault. It is his fault.Whole thing.Baba, it drives two miles per hour. They both need to get new driver tests. And by the way, I don't think either of them would pass.So this, so we really, this girl is really just asking that we just switch over to what the UK does,
01:40:50which is drivers age 70 and older must renew their license every three years and make a legal declaration regarding their eyesight and health. But is, do you have to actually take a test?or can you just like, can you just say, hey, like, I went to the doctor, my eyesightis good.I think at 75 and then 80 again, you got to get it back in the car. This is like going to driver's head.Yeah, no, not, you don't have to go to driver's head, but you got to get back in the car.Imagine this is like 16 year olds and then like 90 year olds.
01:41:18Yeah, I mean, I see the argument. No, I get it too.She clearly just had a frustrating experience. And you know what that would help? That would help, though, like,People who fight with their family memberswho try to tell them they can't drive anymore, but they insist they can still drive
01:41:38because they have their license.Well, if they get their license taken away, then that rules out having to argue with your parentsat that age about, hey, you can't drive anymorebecause guess what? You got your license taken away.I also could see most people in their 70s just ignore.Like, if they have to renew their license,
01:41:53they're just like, I'm not going.And then they get pulled over.If they get fired.70 is young.I think it's 75.You have to.I would even say 80.is, I think I put it at 80.
01:42:03Like, I'm just thinking about how old my dad.Like, I don't know. It's just a day.True.Things could change quickly here, but like, if I, in five years, if I was like, dad, give me your keys, you can't be behind the wheel anymore.Like, he'd be like, are you fucking kidding me?Yeah, I think it really is case by case because I'm thinking about like losing my grandma
01:42:23at 77.She at that point, but she had cancer.Yeah.She was very old.So, like, she wasn't old in age, but she got old because she was sick.Yeah.That's just a whole other conversation. But yeah, I could see 80 more of being the age.
01:42:3772 young.70 is too young, for sure, to be like you have to go take a test again. But 75, 80.We could argue more closer to 80.I would say, yeah.Yeah.Hi, Riofran and Noah.Hi.
01:42:50This is Kayla from St. Louis. So excited for you guys to be here.My hot take is, I don't even think it's a hot take because I feel multiple people would agree with me.What on earth is Abby Lee Miller still?doing what is she doing starting a new show with candy apple kathy about the new generation of dancersgive these kids on break like you should stop yeah no they're you even still are we even still teachinganymore why are we making a new show is it like i think it's like a short vid like you know likethose instagram real shows what is this for who's putting their kid up for them who thought this was
01:43:26a good idea she's like i create champions okay no those kids createthemselves through trauma.Anyway, that's how I feel.I'm not, I just don't know, I just don't know what the point is.Who's watching?I mean, also, not really a hot take either, team Kathy.I think they're actually friends and really like I think the whole beefing on the showwas fake, but team Kathy, because Abby should, she should retire.
01:43:55We should be doing something else, like on a farm somewhere.I don't know.I don't know.Anyway, have a good day, guys. Can't wait to see you in St. Louis? Here's the thing.Yeah, sure, team Kathy. But Kathy was a weirdo as well.
01:44:08Neither of these women should be teaching kids anymore. And I had to go check this out for myself. Also, anybody who is willingly sending their kid to Abby Lee Miller at this point in time.Right, right, right.Somebody should be waiting to arrest these parents on the spot if they are willingly putting their kids with Abby Lee Miller. The history is there. It's written. It's written pretty clearly.
01:44:35And you're not trustingBad Apple Kathy either.Like, I don't want to trust.Abby versus Kathy.Classic.They're doing a throwback dance. The rivalry returns coming soon. You can tune in on short vids.
01:44:49I don't even know what that platform is.V-Y-D-Z.Listen, when the candy apples came-Sounds legit. When the candy apples came into town,it was a good episode. But we don't need it anymore. And people certainly shouldn't be having their kids still train with Abby Lee Miller.
01:45:09Kathy, I don't know.Kathy wasn't that bad of an egg. But, you know, she was nuts as well.Everybody on the show was nuts.Yeah, yeah.Just feels like, you know, at a certain point, you just accept that it's over. It's over. You know, take care of yourself, enjoy your life and close that chapter.
01:45:26Take care of your kids and don't put them in the Abby Lee Miller school or Kathy.Yeah, exactly. On both sides. On both sides, it really is quite crazy.I did not know she was still judging children.Children's dancing.I thought that, like, she wasn't allowed to do that anymore. Is it some of the most entertaining television of all time?
01:45:44And you've never watched, which is really upsetting.Yeah.It's some of the best TV, really. You know, but when you...It's over. You know, you got a...Times of...Yeah.
01:45:58It's just over.It doesn't...Nothing's worse than TV.someone drag something on where you're like, this, this is over.Right. This is over now. We're not bringing it back. It was entertaining in the day. We've now learned our lesson. And we can't have this again. Exactly. So, yeah. All right, that wraps up the popcorn. Keep calling in with your hot takes, your voicemails, your opinions. And we can't wait to see you on the road. All the people at Colin that are excited to come to the show.
01:46:21We love you. Okay, let's be honest. 01:47:06I've been watching drama on Prime and it's been perfect. And obviously I'm ordering snacks to go with it.It's basically your entertainment and shopping sidekick that gets the assignment.Basically, because when you're curating your night, you shouldn't have to settle for just watching the feeling. You can actually live it.From streaming to fast shipping, it's on Prime. So once again, from streaming to fast shipping, it's on Prime.

01:49:01I love the finger guns. We're so comfortable on camera.Yeah.We're not awkward at all.Do you guys love doing press together?Yeah.Oh my gosh.We were just talking about it.
01:49:11I love doing press together. It's so, it's really awesome.Like, honestly, it's so greatbecause we just, like, it's just so nice. We're such good partners. You all are such good partners. And it can be so stressful if you have someonethat, like, doesn't really know what they're doing
01:49:25and says crazy stuff because then you kind of have to, like, they'll be like, and what do you think?I'm going to say some crazy stuff.I was told not to answer that. This is right here on this show is your mom.I'm getting, I'm going to say some crazy show. The hard-hidden questions are coming.I'm getting chicks in the office.
01:49:43I'm ready, I'm ready. No, we love it.We're just, wait. We're so excited.I feel like right when you guys walked in,I was like, this is an amazing pairing.Yeah.And I could just tell right away that you guys love working together.
01:49:54We do.We hope.Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.We do.We do.Exactly.It was, it was, it was great. So fun.
01:50:04You guys are playing a mother and son duo on phony. The first two episodes are out. We've seen the first two episodes. And at first, it's a show that is kind of hard to describe.Like, you have to watch it to really understand. How do you guys describe it in the easiest of terms?Well, that is how, like, I actually say something like that. It's sort of like, you just have to watch it because there's not one genre that defines the show.
01:50:32which I love.For TV,you know,it's so excitingwhen something comes on the air.You're like,oh, wait,I haven't seen something
01:50:42exactly like this before. And it really is like that. The best way I describe it is like,it's a ride.Yeah.You got to take the ride.Definitely.Totally.
01:50:52And it's kind of like, like you said,it's hard to describe, but maybe thriller, comedy, comedy thriller. It's because there are laughs,a lot of laughs,
01:51:01like right off the back.just...Oh yeah.I mean, definitely comedy, for sure.Yeah.Definitely comedy.And it's scary.I mean, it's great.
01:51:07I feel like it has a little bit of everything, which is pretty awesome.Like, it's...The thing is that, like, everything is in service of this one thing, which is kind of aboutour relationship and about coming of age and motherhood and, and, you know, a kid'srelationship with his mom.But it also contains all these sort of different facets that appeal to very different groupsof people, but are kind of in serviceof the one thing, which is really
01:51:36smart right then. How did you guysboth get brought on to phony?Well, you go first. I mean,I guess Nick sent me the script.Don't be humble.I guess he sent me the script, but then it was reallyconversations about like, how do we
01:51:54do this? How do we do? Like, how does this work exactly? Andwhat's really going on?I mean, we had to have all those conversationsbecause it really is, the show is very mysterious. And even like just reading it initially, it was very mysterious. So, but I just, again, like I was saying, like when something comes along that just feels like,I don't think I've seen this before and I don't think I've done it before as an actor.
01:52:19I'm like, yeah, that's exciting.I love to do that.Did you know, and of course we're not spoiling a single thing, but did you know how it was all going to wrap up before you agreed to do it?Or was that not a part of it?I did.Like, Nick gave me, like, he gave, like, he had a very, like, long, extensive sort of,here's what's, here's what happens. And I was like, uh-huh.
01:52:49Yeah, that's exactly. You're not alone in that.Yeah, right?I was going to say, did you feel the same way?Totally.I mean, it was like, it was.I mean, I still kind of still feel the same way.Yeah.
01:53:00Yeah.Yeah.I got him to do it.We had, because he, I mean, the thing about Nick is that he made this, he'd been pitching this show for a long time. And, like, you know, obviously pitching a show in Hollywood is really freaking hard. And I think he, like, had a lot of doors slimmed in his face before he made it to Hulu. And he had this sizzle reel, which kind of, like, went viral in, like, Hollywood circles of, like, everyone I knew who had sort of heard about the project was like, oh, my God, have you seen a sizzle reel?I was like, yeah, what you mean the sizzle reel?
01:53:33And it was like this super cut that he had made a bunch of other different movies and showsstitched together to kind of create a scene from phony to pitch the tone. And he worked so hard on it.So interesting. And that kind of explained a lot of the plot, but also left enough out to make you interested. And like that was one of the things. But also like really showed his creativity.Yeah.
01:53:53And his tone, which is like that's the thing that is the most unique about phony, I would say, right? It's like this kind of humor that it.it is in the way that it's shot. For sure.Yeah.Yeah.I'm so excited for the show and I know so many other people are.I feel like you two are both such fantastic actors and seeing more of both of you is so
01:54:12exciting.I'm sure people have brought up that like in another universe this is like if yourWhite Lotus seasons crossed over.Totally.And you were actually her son in the first season.Oh my God.Well, my character is pretty similar.Yeah.
01:54:28To Fred's character.I mean, yes.Fred's character was...With one important cavity.Yeah.Yeah.Oh my God.Did you watch each other's White Lotus seasons just organically or like after...
01:54:44Did you continue to watch all the seasons after you were on?And I'm sure you watched before.Yeah.Yeah.Yeah.It was like the thing in COVID.It's so...It was the thing and the thing after COVID.
01:54:58Yeah.You know, I...We always talk.about like it's just Mike White's writing is so awesome. I'm always I just always want to see likewhat he does next. And Connie, you've been a part of so many iconic TV shows like some of ourfavorites of all time and I'm sure you know that. I mean, like just so many. So I feel like whenyou are signed on to a project, everybody gets excited because we know. That's nice. I truly feelthat way, it's like we know that this is going to be
01:55:30fantastic. And Sam, I'm sureyou know, you probably grew up also watching Connie.Of course. The onlytwo shows I, like, everhave really from start to finish watched areGlee and Friday Night Lights.Oh my gosh. Right now. Also the first season of American Horror Story
01:55:46which is, in myopinion, the best season ever. And alsoterrifying. And also terrifying. But it's so good.Yeah. Yeah. No, absolutely. And who was signed onfirst? Did you knowwho was playing the mother who was playing the son?I got the offer and then we were kind of auditioning different people to be the mom.
01:56:07No, I'm like, I was like, yeah.I was like, he said.Okay.I was baby.He told me you can kind of pick who over.Yeah, yeah.Obviously.And his first choice wasn't available.
01:56:17Yeah, yeah, yeah.Yeah, yeah. So, you know.So.Lucky me.Did whatever.Like, yes, Sam picks me.Now, so did you do like chemistry?
01:56:27Chemistry reads, obviously, obviously. And then we did chemistry reads.Yeah, I did a bunch of tapes and, you know, had the classic thing of like the more you tape for something.Like at the start, you're kind of like, this is awesome, but like I probably won't get it and it's totally fine. And then you get a callback. And then it's like, I actually might get this. And in fact, if I don't get it, like I flew all the way out to L.A.And we did this chemistry read.
01:56:52And I met Connie. And I was like, oh, my God, she's the coolest person in the world. If I don't get to work with her, this is just going to suck. They're going to give it to some loser.Right.And I'm going to hate who ever gets it.And you're going to hold it against him forever.Forever.
01:57:05Yeah, there's a small voodoo dog.Yeah.And I'm going to break a window on their house while they're asleep, but they're not say anythingabout it.They'll never know who lose me.I feel like that's just so real, though, you know, talking about the process of like,it's right there and you want it so bad.Meanwhile, I know the other people who didn't get the parts.
01:57:24And they...No!I don't do.What a thing.I love it.That is so funny.Sam, did you, was acting just always, you know, in the cards for you, kind of growing up with actor parents? And, like, you thought, I want to do this?
01:57:44Yeah.From what age do you think?Well, I mean, so I honestly kind of fell in love with, like, movies before I fell in love with acting, where I, movies and TV and plays and whatever, just, like, media, but more.from a point of view of kind of wanting to be a writer, director. And then I got really lucky where my school,so Noah Boundback, the incredible filmmaker, went to my high school in Brooklyn.
01:58:08And he did a big casting call for this movie. He made called White Noise. And he basically asked his old drama teacher, who was still my drama teacher at the school,to get everyone in her class to audition. And I did like nine different auditions for himand got lucky enough to get the part. And I was more coming from the point of view
01:58:25of like, I would just love to at least get called back enough times that I could be in a roomwith Noah Baumbach because he's such a directing idol of mine. And then one thing led to another, and I got the part. And I was like, oh, well, I guess I now have to, like, kind of lock in with the acting stuff. And then, and then kept getting parts and getting luckier and luckier. And then I've...I didn't know that Noah Baumack story.Yeah.
01:58:48It was awesome. It was so...So cool.So such good fortune. And then, yeah. And now I'm obsessed with acting.and, of course, like, have fallen in love with it separately from filmmaking.Yeah.
01:59:00Do your parents try and give you any tips or notes, and you're like, just leave it?They, it's funny, like, I don't know how you feel about this.I feel like acting is something that's so hard to, like, it's easy to teach by examplein that, like, of course, when we were working together, I learned so much from you.I've learned so much from everyone.I've worked with just from kind of watching.but it's really hard to like explain acting to someone, especially when it comes to like a specific character.
01:59:29I feel like it would be really hard to ask my parents like, how should I play this scene?Because they'd be like, well, I need a lot more context. You're the one that's had all the conversations with the directors and you know what I mean?Yeah, that would be a tough thing. And that's interesting if you think about like acting classes and acting school.do you I mean I'm sure now you are not working with like an acting teacher at all or I am or you still do yes I still do I actually kind of started doing that on phony because it was it was such a big part that it was so much more responsibility than I've been used to playing kind of supporting roles and I really the main thing is I knew the schedule was going to be really intense and I was like I'm not going to like normally when you are in a supporting role.you have three days off every week and you and you have, you know, 10 hours in your trailer every day
02:00:25waiting to do the scene and you can kind of do work on the scenes whenever and just be ready to go.And with this, it was like you're doing like six scenes a day.You kind of have to do that work beforehand and prepare and have a notebook and know what you're doing. And so I worked with an amazing acting coach who I now have worked with on everything since thenand she's awesome, like really a genius. That's awesome. That is so cool.Do you ever still, you know, work with any acting teachers?
02:00:50You're like, I got this now.Yeah.She's been in a while, but I will say, like, I did for a long time.Like when I was, you know, starting out and coming up and auditioning for things and all that, for sure.Like, it's helpful. It's helpful to have instruction and guidance and a mentor.Totally.Like, really, truly.
02:01:13And somebody else watching you who can give an objective.Because you may feel like you're saying something a certain way until you get told you're not.Yeah.Oh, I didn't realize my tone was different there.Yeah, yeah.Yeah.Well, also, like I, as I said, like, because I did it as well, you know, now I have really a lot of years of experience.Yeah.
02:01:32But, you know, that I've learned, what happened is my jobs and the people that I was working with became my mentors and my teachers. And, you know, and so that's that's.where I, so I've never stopped continuing to learn and, like, get the insights of the peoplearound me and, you know, be inspired by people that I'm working with. I'm like, oh, my God, lookwhat they're doing. That's amazing, you know? Yeah. Um, so that's, that's also, and you know, now that's probably, you'll probably do that more and more. Yeah. Yeah. Not to put you on the spot,Sam, but is there anything that you learned from Connie now that you can share? Yeah. I mean, I, I, I learnedYes, I learned so much.
02:02:16I learned, like, I mean, primarily, I think her ability to, like, be a kind and gracious personin the face of really long hours and, like, really, you know, sets are chaotic, crazy places.Things are always going wrong, no matter how Peachy Keene the production is.And we had an amazing production, but of course stuff still goes wrong.and she was just so like zend out the whole timeand I'm like a very hyper-anxious personand I was always kind of likewhat's going on?
02:02:49Yeah.She's like it's okay.Like you just have to be ready to do your thingand then do it when the time comes. But also just the thing of like playing these two things at onceand being able to like, you know, there was always a kind of thing about whether or not Connieand I don't want to put words in your mouth about like
02:03:08whether or not she was going to kind of ham it up as the second mom to sort of make it creepier or not.And she made the courageous choice of just playing the sincerity of the moment in every moment and always being true to who the character is and not trying to change anything for the sake of whatever plot developments might be occurring. And that is like really ballsy and really paid off.is a great lesson.Sam?Yeah.Speaking of, you know, second mom, as the viewer, you do see sort of like these subtle changesand you're like, oh, what is that?
02:03:53Yeah.What did they tweak her eye there? What's going on there? Was that something that you did actually did or was that after where your face was kindof tweaked a little bit?Well, like, it's kind of, it was kind of a combination.Okay.Like, we went through a lot of different.
02:04:08machinations to to achieve that. But yes, it was like, it was, you know, it was all a combination of like makeup.Yeah.And like we played around with prosthetics. And then, you know, ultimately, like, they also like very, like artfully sort of addedin VFX like literally frame by frame by frame because it had to be so subtle.Totally.And so we were really trying to figure out like, how do we do this so that it's really,
02:04:37really subtle and you can't, it kind of feels like you haven't quite seen that before.Yeah.Right.And it's done such a, in such a great way that as the audience, you can see it, but it's notenough where it doesn't make sense that the rest of the actor or, you know, rest of thecharacters wouldn't be like, well, that's obviously not her. It's just enough. And it's like right as Sunny sort of wakes up and your face is right in his face.
02:05:05And I was like, oh, that is not her.Like, oh my God.It's so crazy. It's so creepy. It's so creepy. It's so interesting.Where did you guys film the show?Vancouver.
02:05:17Okay, okay.So many things are shot in Vancouver.Everything is.No, everything.And it's great.It's very beautiful.I understand why.It's beautiful.
02:05:25They've got good, whatever.Of course, they have good tax credits and stuff, which is.Yeah.That's right. But it's also gorgeous.Yeah, because it seems like that you can reallyget anything out of it. You can getbeautiful days, but you can go spooky, because
02:05:39this kind of is like moody, lake life. It's very misty.Right, right, right. And you're supposed to be, where are you supposed, it's supposed to beOregon. Oregon. And I feel likethis is coming out at the perfect time, right? LikeOctober, spooky.Yeah. You love to.
02:05:55Just getting cold. Exactly.Yeah, exactly. Connie, do you have likea blueprint or evensome sort of ideain your mind when a project comesto you that you're like, I need these, it needs to hit these points for me to consider it.That's a great question. And I kind of do.
02:06:15I mean, it's not like I have a list.Yes.But for me, it's really, I always want to feel like, oh, this feels like something I haven't done before or I haven't seen before.Preferably both of those things. And also, I would like to feel personally like, this makes, this pushes me a little outsidemy comfort zone. Like I, I, you know, as an actor, I think for all as creative people, like, you always want to feel a little bit like you're just kind of not, you're taking a little bit of arisk. You're, you're stepping over a line and exploring something that is new. And so for me,
02:06:55that is always kind of a prerequisite. And, and of course, great writing. Yeah. You know, I mean,if you get a great script, there are a lot of terrible scripts out there.I was going to ask.And not that many great ones. And so every time I get a great one, it's like, I can't believe I'm so lucky. This is such a great opportunity. And lucky to be able to say no, right? To so many scripts as well.
02:07:21Like you have, like I mentioned, just so many iconic roles.Yeah.And really just so established that you can really pick and choose like, this is what I want to do.And the hardest thing is, well,Because now that I'm a mom, I have to say no, you know, things aren't shooting in L.A.Like they used to.And so it's like, I sometimes just have to say no to things.Like I can't go.
02:07:46For instance, White Lotus where it's like I can't go to a foreign country for six months.Like I just, I was able to do it the first season because it was COVID and my son came with me.Yeah.You know.So that's always a bummer. But, but yeah, being able to say no.somebody told me a long time ago they're like the one power that we have as actors as being able to say no yeahI think is kind of interesting once you say yes you relinquish yeah a lot yeah yeah what what initially
02:08:17drew you to like the the Friday night lights kind of you know what was what sold you on that showwell I mean I had such a long journey with that show because I did the movie yeah yeah and so and Iand I really enjoyed doing the movie I I I II had such a great relationship with Peterberg who, you know, directed it and wrote it, actually. He wrote it based on Buzz Bissinger's book.I didn't know that he wrote it.He wrote the movie based on Buzz Bissinger's book, Buzz Bissinger, his cousin. You're kidding.
02:08:49Yes.I didn't know any of this is awesome. So Buzz Bissinger spent like, you know, a year in Odessa, Texas, like basically just he wanted to write a book about Texas football and the phenomenon of that.anyway and actually several really like amazing filmmakers tried to make the movie and just they had a really difficult time with it and Pete just figured it out and he kind of figured out as we went anyway so that was I had a great experience with that but then they like two years later they decided to do the TV show and I was kind of like and they were like yeah you got to come back and play the wife and I'm like the wife does not do one thing it's a show about football it's a showabout like I'm playing the coach's wife. That is like so awful. What is that? And so it was really, I really, honestly, it was Pete Berg talking me into it because on paper,
02:09:47even the pilot, my character wasn't written in there that much. And, you know, I even had the experience of doing the movie and like really not havinganything to do.And so I don't know.I just took a big, it was, that was one that was like, I'm just taking a big flying leap andI'm probably going to land. It's going to be so upsetting. And that's not the case because she is such a big heart of the show.
02:10:10Yeah, I know. But, you know, I really give a lot of, I give Pete Berg a lot of credit for that.I give Jason Ketoms, who came on as our showrunner, a lot of credit.Kyle Chandler, who immediately from day one was like, we were so clear about what we wantedthat partnership to be.So I just felt like I had such great supportive collaborators.and everybody really wanted to not only make that character great, but bring the women of that town and that community to life as well,
02:10:42which he couldn't really do in the movie. So I give them a lot of credit.I feel like it's not often you see somebody go from playing the movie to the TV show.Like it's usually different.I know, which is really incredible. And does it still shock you to this day how many people are now watching for the first time?it's so awesome. It's really, really amazing.
02:11:05And it's funny because I feel like every sort of decade or something, it's onlyit's only, I guess, it's been two decades, but it just feels like there are differentsort of incarnations of like the age group of people who are finding it.And that's the one thing about streaming that I think is so great is thatRediscovery of these shows that have been around for a long time that kind of, it reallyallows them to be sort of evergreen in a way.It is.I think people get so excited to share it with their kids.
02:11:35Like when they know they're like,oh, when my kids get to the agewhere I can watch this with them. It'll be so great.Exactly.I feel the same for the White Lotus, especially now that we're a couple seasons in,it's going to be a show that everyone can go back.
02:11:49Every year there's going to be new fans. And with this past season, did you feel like, oh my gosh, there is now more pressurebecause every year more fans have become upset.with this show. And it's like a weekly viewing.Yes.
02:12:04I mean, there was so much pressure.Like that, it was so scary. It was offset by the fact that it was the most magical place in the world with the mostincredible people.Like, they were the best company and the best creative collaborators. And it was just like so fun every day.But everyone, I mean, it was incredible.Even like the really seasoned actors in that show that I look up to so much, we were all kind
02:12:29of shitting our pants.Like, we were all really nervous because you know, it's a weird thing where you know, you know everyone's going to watch it.But you also know that there's, that no one's seen you before. You know what I mean?So it's not like doing a second season of a show you've already been in and everyone loves you and they love your character. It's like they love what the show is.So you need to find a way to kind of fit into a thing that already exists, you know. But at the end of the day, Mike's ready.
02:13:00is so damn good that it's kind of impossible to give a bad performance.I mean, you were incredible and it was such a interesting and funny storyline, I feel like. But so fun to watch and you were so good.Oh, thank you.I really appreciate that. When you're on like those ensemble shows like that, do you also wait to see who elseis going to join you in the cast?Like when we're all waiting with Bated Breath, like who's your?
02:13:30going to be on the next season. When you get cast, are you like, I can't wait to see who else is going to be on the season,or do you have somewhat of an idea? What was your experience with it?Well, I mean, for, or even like maybe your own inner unit, you know, you know who yourfamily members are.Well, for, I mean, for White Lotus, for the first season, it was COVID.Yeah.
02:13:52So, you know, and so I was really talking to Mike directly and he came to me early on.and, you know, and like I knew that he had written that part for Jennifer. And other than that, it was pretty wide open.Yeah.And so he was very flexible about like, okay, like what should we do with your character and all this kind of stuff? And then gradually he started, you know, bringing people on.And he's like, well, what, yeah, what do you think about Steve's on?You know, like, you know what I mean?
02:14:22And it was just like, yeah.It was so fun to watch it all come together. He's so good.Steve was just here. And the way that he talks about.how much fun you guys had.He really was the coolest. He's the coolest.
02:14:33He's the best. He was so funny.Yes, we were laughing a lot.He was just sitting in that chair that you're in like this.Nowhere near the mic, he's just like talking like this.I'm like, you're amazing. So, so great.Oh, my God.It was very funny.
02:14:48Like, did you know who was playing your brunt?Like, did you know those roles, Sam?Or?I did.I mean, it's also just like stuff always gets around. You know what?Like agents talk.Talk so much.
02:14:59And you can always kind of tell like who the last few people are.And then but yeah, I knew about the people in my family. And then I didn't get the scripts until like the day before I flew to Thailand. So I didn't know what the storylines were for anyone else.I didn't know who any of the other characters were, let alone who was playing them. But I did know who was in my family. And we all kind of got in touch with each other right after we heard and had a big Zoom where we all screamed.Yeah.
02:15:25That's awesome. That's awesome. That's awesome. It's so good.Yeah, we are so excited to see the rest of phony.Yes.Thank you.We love this pairing so much.
02:15:35You guys.Because they also gave us, like, we got the screeners and we got the first four.Oh, yeah. And I was like, ah.But, you know, not, no.And then it's like, oh.And then when it goes week to week, I'm like, now I really got away.Exactly.
02:15:50But you guys are just so incredibly talented and amazing. So seriously, congratulations on the new show. We're so excited.to see the rest of it.Yes.And everybody can stream on Hulu.I can't wait.Thank you guys.
