Chilifest Lawsuit & the Cheesecake Factory | Circling Back 10-28-26
00:04 Good morning. Welcome back to the circling back podcast. To everyone who's found us from the Sam Marcus Daily, I'd like to say welcome, and I hope you enjoy the show. My name is Dave at DC Rough on Instagram. Randall Trumbacky's going to produce. Hi, Dave. You're giving barback, Randy.
00:37 You're giving West Sixth, uh, West. bartender, Randy, today. I feel like you guys say that every single time I wear a hat. You just have that look. It's not a bad thing. You know what I've been enjoying? You know what? I'm a sucker. I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I've been enjoying the Mozilla Firefox new commercial. I'll say it. I ain't afraid to say it. I've been enjoying it, Dave. Yeah, I bet most people are familiar with it. It's been, it's been around. It's been making the rounds. It's a bunch of the old, like, YouTube stars, like they got Tazonde.
01:11 Lorraine. The Numa Numa A guy. Like they just went through all this stuff pretty much like talking on all the other browsers saying like, hey, they're a bunch of AI and they're tracking your shit. Not over here. This is the internet you remember. They got like they got the apparently kid.
01:29 They got like all the people. Did they get the Star Wars guy? I don't think so. No. They got the evolution of dance guy. Oh, I remember that. But yeah, they got a lot of the. old memes. They got the
01:42 kid, you know, the head, the fist pump kid, like the baby. Oh, yeah. Yeah, but they're all grown up now. I enjoyed it. It made me, it made me remember simpler times. So what's the deal? You get in the bag from Mozilla or what? I wish. I'm just saying I enjoyed it. Firefox. I mean, I enjoyed it. And I also enjoyed Conjay last night.
02:03 Oh, damn. Canji, Kanji? Oh, that was last night. Oh, very good. Dog. Very good. Oh, that's why. Walk us through it. What did you get? I go a little slow we went uh well quite fun showed up with three minutes left on our grace period of uh thing because i had a flat tire leaving the office yesterday quite fun oh yeah so i did that thought it'd be funny to let your air out of your tires it wasn't funny with our new knives yeah turns out they take that just for the kitchen sure uh saboteurs we said it was our anniversary which was our it was true and they gave us uh a free
02:40 a pink pineapple thing. Like that was delicious. Then I got, when we did a cocktail each, I did the cocoa and rye, which was pretty much just all liquor. And it was amazing. I loved it. The food, did the coconut rice and did
02:56 the roadie as the sides and went the West India, curry and the jerk chicken. Wait, you brought Dave's son with you? Is that worried? Did he sneak out again? He was really talkative to us. I'm sure Okay
03:12 And then we did How was the jerk chicken Hotness level It was good It wasn't too spicy It's almost It's you could see like a world Where this might be too spicy
03:21 But it's just perfect I didn't know how to eat it Like usually with like chicken like that Like I was doing fork and knife I'm like I kind of just wanted to like use my hands Can I do that? Don't be scared away by the Michelin Star Does it have a mission star
03:33 It does It does But yeah it was really good If you ever in Austin I highly recommend That was probably my, now my favorite Austin restaurant. No red stripe? No, it just did the cocoa and rye cocktail.
03:48 I thought about getting the rude boy, which is a red stripe with a shot of rum in it, but I decided not to. We did also get the plantain soft serve ice cream for dessert. That's a bad girl re-re shout. Did you do what you said you're going to do and talk in Patois? I said, I said Bumbaclatteleat at least five times. Booma-clat. Yeah. I said just like that.
04:11 Was your waiter cool, like with edgy tats? I don't know. She had tats, but she did have a little pair of binoculars around her neck. And I was like, that's a nice touch. Oh, okay. Maybe she was trying to check out Dylan's package. She had a reservation there later that night. Dylan Shivery, ladies and gentlemen. Man. Colin Simmons T-shirt. Yeah, check out my new t-shirt, dog.
04:32 Colin Simmons, just pulling that ding-dong out and just whizzing all over the field at Nalen Stadium. You didn't actually pull it out. He just simulated it and got back. This is the problem with Texas fans. You guys glorify the wrong thing. That was a flag. Very untimely 15-yard penalty for Texas in this one. Almost during the game.
04:51 But he had just an all-time game. So he's also just an absolute dog. Duncanville Panther, by the way. When's he coming back? When's he getting back in there? I'm seeing that three-to-four-week little hiatus. I'm not sure how accurate. But he'll be back.
05:07 let's say Arkansas game if I'm him I'm not coming back shut the draft you're not him though you've never been him yeah you won't you don't know what it's like to be him I think he'll come back yeah I mean if they've still got two losses three maybe it's marginal
05:23 I think I said this before the season we're getting a three we're getting a three loss SEC team it might be Texas man might be BAML Texas has at least one more L on this roster on this rock KJ secretly KJ secretly like is holding some ill will towards Alabama. He's been taking a little shot.
05:41 I think his Keelan was originally supposed to go to SMU. Oh, yeah, that's right. And I think he can see that there's going to be a three-lossed Bama team in there in some way. Maybe, we don't know. I don't know. I think he's just, he's preparing. SMU's great, man. One loss.
05:57 SMU's a flirt with the JFFB3. So he thinks SMU is not going to get in with one loss? Now, and I don't think that's going to, I don't think it's going to go down like that, but we'll see. I don't know what the ACC looks like right now. I do know Wake Forest, JFF, B3 alum. They're right there. So let's track it. Also,
06:17 Barry Citrus is a new flavor I'm on. Who's Barry Citrus? It's a new flavor I'm on. These breakers and they're fun. They're so good. Barry Citrus is like the name I check into hotels with when I'm trying to be on the low. Yeah, I get it. Like, okay, Mr. Citrus.
06:35 And they look over their, They're like, a coworker. That's actually the original D-Man from Circling Back podcast. He was on that 45-minute clip. He barely saw him or heard him, but he was in that clip. Yeah. He's also in that other viral one that noted New York Times bestselling author, W.R. Bowens in.
06:52 He's actually, that's actually Dave and Dillon's, that's their show, but you wouldn't know it because Ross just dominated it. Yeah, thanks, Ross. Thanks, Ross for the virality. Viral clip, big dog. Got to have him all more often. He got the tag, though. He got creeds. You know?
07:10 He got creeds. Yeah, Creds. Yesterday, speaking of CREDS, we finished spooky season. We wrapped it up. Fun time. Always sad when spooky season ends. There's always just like the day after the, the show for the rest of the week are just kind of,

There's always next October. Smile because it happened. Also, next month we have Game show. Game show. We do? Nah, we do.
07:46 Yeah, we do. What's the game show? I don't know. I just found you. Yeah, it's called Do You Know It? It's hosted by young Randall Trimbecky over here. It's a wacky game show. We answer trivia questions. Try to guess songs and artists, music,
08:02 combination of the two. There's some wackiness involved as well. There's planes hitting a little turbulence. Hang on. Keep going. And then, now that's it. It's fun. Hold on, folks. We've had a little
08:16 turbulence here. It shouldn't be anything major. We ask that you keep your seatbelts on for the time remaining. We have a lot of fun. We have a lot of wackiness when you do it to scale. 12:05 I was invited invited by a friend of mine who was a k a at texas a and um and uh bounce around a little bit just to get just to get the vibes so yes i have been okay what was your impression because i i've i've heard i've never been but everyone who has gone loves going yeah uh quite quite the ordeal it's it's a it's a it's put it's a very it's put on very well they like they know what they're doing it's very professional and uh it's a big event and you can tell like the whole town turns out for it's big it's a big deal Chilly Fest, yeah, it's a big deal. It's a nonprofit that puts it on. They raise money for, they've raised over $3 million for Texas charities, according to KBTX. So a reporter, so this happened back in July or this got put out there in July that there was a lawsuit.
12:57 Chili Fest sues former president accuses him stealing nearly $900,000 for personal expenses. And then on Twitter I got served something. I think this was going crazy. And the old Burnerverse said the Chili Fest files. And it was just screenshots from the actual lawsuit, the accusations. And it's not good. So it's canceled? I don't know.
13:27 It's canceled. It's canceled? I saw they're operating in a deficit at this point. Chili Fest, according to, I don't know how official this is. will not be happening in 2027 due to the money laundering by SAE members. Well, that's the allegation. Right. What's your source there?
13:45 Like I said, it's just a guy on Twitter who seems to know things, but I don't know if it's accurate. It might, it's probably not. Well, here's the deal. I'm pulling up some screenshots right now, and I love doing a live show. Hold on. Sorry, right now. According to the filing, stripling.
14:06 the former president is accused of purchasing designer clothing from Louis Vuitton and Gucci, a $41,000 jewelry purchased, two golf carts, firearms, a jet ski, and what the lawsuit describes as, quote, endless bar tabs, none of it authorized. The Chili Fest boards say Stripling had bank statements rerouted to his home address to conceal the spending. The alleged unauthorized transactions took place over nearly two years before the board discovered them. His LinkedIn page says he served as president of Chili Fest from 2023 to 2025. Man, this is exactly the kind of shit I would buy, though.
14:51 At least he bought, I was going to say, at least he went and bought some cool shit. Jetsky. Hell yeah, dude. Firearm. Allegedly, this is all alleged in this law. You got to think he was flipping that Louis in the, in the, in the, in the Gucci merch, right? Unless he just, his girlfriend was just absolutely decked out. I am interested how he got away with this, because I'm thinking back when we were,
15:15 when I was in college, how our system was with buying stuff. It was like each role had like a fund, like a social fund, but you would just give your receipts to the house treasurer and then he would like document everything. And then that would go through like our housing board. Like it was extremely hard to like be able to just like,
15:34 wander money like that. Maybe you throw a pizza on for yourself. These are Chili Fest funds, right? So it's... Which I guess for people that aren't aware and that are watching right now. Also, he didn't get away with it. But for two years, like we would have been...
15:48 We would have been immediately figured out. This is a problem. A lot of nonprofits, I don't know how Chili Fest is structured, but a lot of nonprofits don't have a ton of oversight. Which is a problem. And if this stuff is true, then obviously they were,
16:04 would be in that category. I'm reading from the lawsuit. Throughout the rest of 2024, defendant continued to use Chili Fest's operating account to fund his expensive tastes. He went on regular shopping sprees at Nordstrom, Lulu Lemon, Allo, Abercrombie, Tori, Tori, Birch, and Gucci, to name a few. She also appears to have used Chili Fest operating account to cover expenses to a house flipping business under the name Stripling Interest LLC. As there were countless purchases made at Home Depot, Low Sherwin Williams in appliance stores. He also incurred, continued to incur thousands of dollars in bar tabs in College Station and Montgomery County.
16:45 So, okay, I guess Chili Fest is like a music festival and he was able to get their funds. This wasn't the fraternity fund. It was actually the Chili Fest like, you know, like ACL and Lalapalooza. Correct. How did he get access to it? He was the president of Chili Fest. Oh, okay. I thought he was the president of his fraternity. That's why I missed off.
17:04 He's the president of Chile. And he allegedly opened a card under that name, a Chase Bank account. And what they're saying is, damn. I mean, he was doing a lot, allegedly. Yeah, there's the jet ski. When you're spending that much money, people are going to be like, all right, what's happening to all the money? You know, he's not just going out and doing $100 bar tabs with the boys or buying himself
17:32 a, you know, a sub sandwich here and there. He spent way too much money to get away with this. He had to have known people were going to go looking for the money. I think there was like $40,000 spent, oh, yeah, at a jewelry store right around. I think potentially, I think the implication here was that it was like an engagement thing. I don't know. This is all from the lawsuit. Getting engaged in college?
17:58 What an idiot. That's kind of crazy. What a jackass. Yeah, there was some. I did see the tweet that you referenced earlier about Chili Fest. in 2027. I think it's an April event. They do it in the spring typically, if I'm not mistaken. I don't know. Um, but yeah, damn. That's, I mean, you got to, I don't, I don't, I don't, again, we don't really know how this is structured, but like there's got to be somebody over the age of
18:22 like 30, like on like, it's like really monitoring this. Like somebody who kind of knows what they're doing. Hopefully. Hopefully there are adults in the building who are at least somewhat aware what's going on. Oh, they're doing a build, bro? Why don't you just play this? I don't even know what this is. So I remember Chili Fest last year, I was getting served these. So for people that don't know, like, it's a big music festival where, like, all the A&M frats go and they, like, build these elaborate, like, and have, like, parties in them.
18:52 So, like, here's a video of just, I think last year when it was really muddy. Look at the mud. Just like, they're, like, Pike had a pirate ship in the, like, and they're just big parties on the inside. So it's like a very, like, well attended. Who do you think builds the? guys got it yeah I think it's the pledges huh
19:10 I don't know this stuff seems I don't know this is too like advanced right they got the subs out there I think I think there's some professional
19:18 construction oh yeah you bring in crews you think Balbonies boys were on it yeah Tommy tough knuckles
19:23 I think he's got a kid at Fiji that's a tough knuckles build right there yeah yeah it's pretty much like a parade float that would be
19:30 back in the day but like a huge party like structure so pretty I mean they look sick Yeah, it's a big deal. Alpha tris. Alpha tries. All right. I see what they're doing.
19:43 This is sick. He is, Stripling has denied all of the allegations here, and there is a trial set, a bench trial set in February of next year. But yeah, it says here, Chili Fest is facing financial strain three months before the board fired Stripling. Court documents say the organization now faces insolvency with $200,000 owed for this year's festival. Sheesh. Collier said that Vogue status could affect the organization's ability to raise money going forward. Checks out.
20:15 Though she noted it is not necessarily a direct result of allegations, it could be putting them in the red overall. Every spring, more than 20,000 people attend Chili Fest, a two-day music festival, Randy held in Snook. It's actually in Snook, Texas. Snook, Texas. Raises money for local charities. Sheesh.
20:32 Going to have to track it. Unfortunately, we're going to have to monitor this because Chili Fest, man. I mean, that's one, that was one. I've never been to college station. But I felt like I had the opportunity in college to go to Chili Fest, just never went. You know what? I heard that, uh, set them off. He bought a bunch of beans.
20:52 We're not putting beans in the chili, Dylan. I don't know why you don't understand the man's joke. See you. No, I do. Texas chili doesn't have beans in it. I do know the joke. Then where all these, what are these beans for? You know, most of the chili I've had in Texas has beans in it, I must say.
21:07 I don't mind the extra protein. And fiber. As a, when you get to my age or hell, even Dylan's age, you guys started thinking about fiber. That's right. Not just protein. No, that's, that's facts. I think there's some things that if he would have been smart about it, kind of got away with, like the golf carts.
21:23 Like, that is one that you can explain away. Like, yeah, it's a music festival. We need golf carts, like, and kept those. It's the other stuff. Like, you could have been smart about some of this and then, like, gotten away with it. Yeah, the jet ski races quite the red flag. What if you, okay, let's just say hypothetically. Maybe Pike's pirate ship.
21:39 The lawsuit does allege that you bought a jet ski. What if they were going to do a build with like a big ass moat? Yeah. And like, it was like Billy Madison. You think of Billy Madison style. Yeah. Yeah. After he passed the first grade.
21:51 He's like, wait a minute. This was part of the event. It could have been a photo prop like they have at Casperjamas. The Gucci and the Tori Birch and the aloe. A little harder to explain. Oh, sorry. I'm trying to fucking put these bad bitches on. Maybe.
22:06 Maybe someone in the green room asked for that on their writer. You don't know. Great point. I need a Gucci bag before I go on stage. You think fucking Wade Mowen's asking for a Gucci? I don't know who plays
22:19 Chili Fest. Wade Bowens probably played Chili Fest probably a few years back. I don't remember the musical draws that they get. It gives Texas country. It gives Kyle Park. Shout to Kyle.
22:32 Texas State Bobcat. Chili. I want to know who's played there. Randy Rogers? Flatland Calvary, Cody West, Treaty Oak Revival. Okay. This is just last year. There's some names.
22:49 I mean, that's... Oh. Jelly Roll. Really? I mean, that's pretty big. No, actually, he lost a lot of weight. That's good. Sorry.
23:01 Crowd didn't even budge. No, there's nothing there. They just got it. Oh, there's a delay. Yeah. This show is not taped for a live studio audience. They're actually out there in the bullpen. And again, there's a little...
23:14 But sometimes you can hear them through the wall. Yeah. Sam Bar, Shane Smith and the Saints. Parker McCollum. Hmm. Nice. A number of artists. Of course, Highway 6 band.
23:30 I don't know some of these guys, but I'm sure they're great. Sam Barber is the headliner. Do you know Sam Barber? I should know Sam Barber. Yeah. Yeah. He's popular. He's not on Dylan Faye.
23:42 We're going to track this. as it again is scheduled to go to trial and we'll see we'll see what the deal is here he's a lot of pissed off folks down college station way if this thing gets canceled for 2027 i mean like there's a reason like the plet our parties were not most we ever spent on a party was probably like two grand the pledges aren't going to mind if it gets canceled though no it's probably for the best yeah we'll find still find something for me to do yeah just like oh dude you guys are going to go out to uh Mr. Taylor's place. He's a, he actually just graduated, but he still lives here.
24:16 He needs you guys to tear down a load-bearing wall in his house. His parents bought him. Yeah. You guys got to do that all weekend. All right. Figure it out. There's a 150-year-old oak tree out in the backyard. He wants it moved over five feet.
24:29 Find a way. You guys got to get that thing out of there. Also, it's a, it's actually his place is a historical landmark. So you guys got to go before the city and get a permit. You guys got to go get approval. So figure it out. You're going to have to go before the city council. Also, he wants $45 of Taco Cabana.
24:48 Find a way. He'll pay you back. Yeah, he's definitely got to reimburse you. Figure it out. Figure it out. Oh, boy. Oh, boy, man. I've got to tell you this.
25:01 I can't wait to put on my Tocovas this weekend. Oh, it is Dachovas weekend, isn't it? It is. It's giving Ticovus. Ticovus crafts quality Western boots for everyone from generational ranchers and lifelong cowboys to first-time boot. fires. Toccova's boots handcrafted with over 200

T-C-O-B-K. we got an update this is the story people were wanting to hear yesterday told the story of parks getting asked out to date which you know i think that's always saying you want to be my my boyfriend
26:56 right so people are saying you're still telling the story yeah well we have an update so as i mentioned it was going down like as we were recording um so i got some like good news to report and some like unsettling news not unsettling that's probably not the word he used but he had a he had an up and down day been there apparently he he told her friend that yes he would like to date her so the middle person parks like has a girlfriend now i think even though he i asked him last night and he's like unsure if that's what it means if like he has a girlfriend but they're like somewhat of an item at the moment here's the thing now so they had class they have class together it's midday i think it's around like noon or so and he knew that he would be seeing her
27:47 obviously in class and okay well actually let me back up he relayed to her friend that yes he would like to date this young lady and his buddy overheard him say this and he went squealing all right you don't do that what does that mean he went telling he went and told everybody he's like oh loose lips he said parks is going to the dance with blank won't say your name and it got around really fast as things do in middle school you know i think between periods he just like just went and just told as many people as he could and parks was classic classic best friend not only was parks it wasn't his best friend it was just a friend i don't even i didn't even know this kid's name until yesterday all right um so parks is like first of all
28:36 yo that's fucked up he didn't say it like that but that he said like that's messed up dude and it's absolutely spiked his nerves because he knew that he would go see this girl and he was extreme he was so nervous that he got an upset stomach this is true story i felt so bad for the kid so his mom dallas was volunteering at the school yesterday she was there selling tickets to the dance oh so she was kind of like on the inside here he goes to the nurse at like 11 or so o'clock because he was just like gonna throw up from the nerves.
29:10 Went to the nurse and then since Dallas was already at school because she was volunteering. She met him in the nurse's office and he was like, I don't want to go to class. I'm so nervous. I'm so upset with my friend. Starts crying. Like, it's a whole thing, dude.
29:25 And so his stepdad goes up to the school because Dallas had to get back to her post. She was working, like I said. So he goes up to the school and he's, Like Parks wants to go home and we're like, dude, you can't go home. Like you're going to have to see her at some point. I know you're nervous, but you can't just go home because of this.
29:42 And calms him down and he ends up going to class where she is. He said he caught like the last 10 minutes of that class. It's theater class. Cut like the last 10 minutes. To be or not to be. Yeah. Theater. Yeah.
29:59 Really, Billy Madison. Oh, yeah. Oh, there he's got the skull. So because he saw her and like nothing terrible, I mean, I don't know what he's expecting. Like, forced to hold her hand.
30:12 And I don't know. Like, he was just like, he thought that he would have to like really, you know. Hey. Like immediately jump into a boyfriend role or something. Like,
30:23 do, sure. I said, I said, Parks, nothing's going to change. Like, you guys are like,
30:26 and actually go on dates. You don't have to hold her hand between classes. Just like, just be cool, man. Just act like she's still just your friend, right? He needs to write her a poem.
30:34 Is he afraid of contracting cooties? There's possibly a cootie scare going on here. Damn, my. So he saw her, he said they didn't speak, which is fine. I mean, he was too nervous. They didn't speak. Just classic. But that calmed him down, and he's obviously got, he's going to see her again today here
30:52 in about 30 minutes. But calmed him down. He had a really good rest of the day. He went and told his friend like, hey, you're not being a good friend, which, you know, straight up. Respect. you, you know, man to man, let's talk this out, dude. You were kind of acting messed up towards me back there.
31:10 And he was. And so he told his friend that. But he's cool now. He's cool. He doesn't quite know where he lands with this gal. Like, are they an eye, like, they're somewhat of an item. But, you know, he's not like, oh, it's not my girlfriend, dad. Like, okay.
31:26 Whatever you want to do. Just like, when you see your next, just be cool, man. Just act like nothing's changed. You'll be fine. Yeah. So, I mean, you can relate a little bit, right? Did you get, did you get nervous about that kind of shit? I sure did.
31:41 I was moving different back to. Hey, straight up, I'm still scared of girls. I'm 43 years old. I thought you had a story like you had a girlfriend. You'd even talk to her. Yeah, I was doing it. No, that was me. Oh, that was you?
31:51 That was me. Fifth grade. What's up, Ashley? I did have that. I was doing comedy on the comedy show. I had a girlfriend in fifth grade. She asked me out through her friend. I was like, yeah, let's do this.
32:01 And then for the next, like, three or four weeks, weeks we didn't speak a word together even though i saw her every day at school we didn't talk to each other and then actually at the skating rink because every friday night on fifth grade we went to the skating ring one of her friends um came up to me and was like do you even want to be with her and i was like i guess not and then that was the breakout so like from from asking me out to breaking up with her we didn't speak dude i was so nervous around girls back then like i said i'm still kind of scared of him. So I get it. I get, I know, I know the feeling, but it's also like, this is fun stuff, you know, it's fun to like, like a girl who likes you back. He was, um, he needs to just,
32:48 he needs to revert to what we would call this situation. Like, what else? So what are you all? I'd be like, no, we're just talking. That's what we used to say. It's like, now, we're just talking. It's kind of like the pre-boyfriend, girlfriend. We're feeling it out. Um, even though, like, It's, it's, uh, the name is kind of funny because you're not really talking. Right. Because again, it's incredibly awkward. He does need to get her number, though. They need to exchange a few texts.
33:15 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He really liked me, though. I was a, I was a nervous wreck when stuff like this would happen to me at that, that age. Oh, yeah. It's, well, because in, you, they feel like all eyes are on you.
33:28 Like, everybody's looking at, like, every interaction you all are having, like, oh, you didn't. And then, oh, you didn't even hold her hand? I don't know. I also reminded me of this girl I went to school with. This was in middle school. Her name was Selena. And one day, she had a big crush on me, and she was, like, not afraid to let me know.
33:47 And one day in lunch, I was sitting with my boys, and she comes over and she talks to the guy. My friend said next to me, she goes, scootovers. She wanted to sit next to me. She said, scootovers. And she sat next to me, and I was like, this is so uncomfortable. Like, I didn't really, you know, she was fine. I didn't like her very much, but she had a thing for your boy. She was sweet on me, you know.
34:09 Did you throw up? She was sweet on a player. I didn't throw up, but she somehow, I think, through like the student directory, she got my home phone number. So she would call. Damn. My mom be like, Dylan. You got Selena on the phone again.
34:22 Like, oh, hey, Selena. I'm going to tell you something crazy that I remember yesterday. I can, in my head, I know the landline number of the girl that, my first girlfriend. Is that right? From fifth grade. Yeah. Man, kids these days, they don't know that we had to remember phone numbers.
34:42 Like, that was very much a thing. Like, I knew all of my squad's phone numbers by heart. I know a number of them, yeah. But I remember she called, she called me and she was like, we should toilet paper a house. Remember, she was like trying to, we ended up breaking up mainly again because we talked exclusively on the phone. in person. I never really spoke to her. There was a young lady who would write me notes. I'd leave my regular class in fourth grade to go to gate, the gate class. And I would go and I got back. The young lady who had been sitting in my desk would leave me notes. And I remember just being like,
35:22 what am I supposed to do with this? It's tough being a heart throbbing and I never, yeah, I didn't, I never wrote back to her. Damn. You didn't write back? No. Pretty, pretty mess. up. Gino Smith style. Sorry. Remember that? You know the reference? Nope. You know, Gino Smith, he had a good game like three years ago and he's like, yeah, everybody wrote me off, but I didn't write back. That's hard. That's kind of a bar, dude. That's hard.
35:49 But what does that mean? I hope Salina's doing okay. Why didn't he write back? What do you mean right back? What were you? Because he was like, no, fuck y'all. So I wrote you off. I dismissed you. You didn't write back. Why would you write? What would you have written back? Don't over. Don't overthink it, Dave. It's a good bar. Just let it go. Shout out to Gino.
36:05 Shout out to Selena. Dude, Parks needs to invite her to his, like, Minecraft server or something. He needs to get on this. Yeah, they should get into Discord. I don't know if, I don't know if he's going to invite her to a Minecraft server. Just get her number. She could be his little Discord kitten.
36:20 They could just be normal and just text. Everybody got phones at that age? Do I trust my son texting a girl, though? Are we sure? Do I need a monitor? Do most of the kids have phones? Not phones. They have iPads.
36:32 So he gets on from school. He just wants to call the boys on group chat. He does it like every day. You need to be careful about what these kids are texting and using emojis. They could be meeting stuff like a snowflake actually means something else. Yo, straight up, do I need to be monitoring his text with girls? I don't want to, I don't want to. Haas, I can't answer that question.
36:50 I don't want to be a helicopter dad, but, like, texting a girl is different than texting your boy. You're more of a plane dad. Yeah, big brother, Dylan over here. I mean, he's a sweet soul. Don't patriot act your son. He's a sweet, shivery here. He's a sweet soul, man. He wouldn't, he wouldn't say anything like that.
37:07 No, dude, no, parks is great, man. Yeah. Actually, I don't, I'm sitting here like, yeah, no, you don't have to do that. Maybe you should anyway. I don't know. He sends, like, selfies. What if he says, like, holy fuck? Holy fucking fuck.
37:19 Cheesh. Cheesh. That body. I don't know, man. The kid's growing up, and it's a fun time, but also, like, I feel, I feel that, that nervousness in him. Because I was the exact same way, dude. I feel like it's perfect. There is like, I bet 1% of the boys in that class would handle this like in like a real cool suave way.
37:43 Every boys, I feel like most boys just get nervous. Yeah. Yeah. There are some, he says there were like three or four couples in his grade, which is interesting. The, there would not, what they would say was like if there was, there were some, I can tell you their names. There were some dudes who are real smooth with ladies and everybody would be like, oh, he's got game. Oh, yeah. He knows that's big game.
38:03 Player. Yeah, I was not in that category. I got some... I had a butt cut, thanks. I was like, dude, it's, you know, being handsome, it's a blessing and a curse, man. I got some alpha male videos for him to learn how to, like, talk to women, some alpha male videos. Oh, yeah, yeah. He should actually just be really rude.
38:21 Uh-huh. Yeah. So he should... Those should help him. Just be super dismissive, dude. Yeah, dude, actually, that's actually the play. He should neg her. Because they don't get more girls.
38:30 Yeah. Don't be like, ooh, I like the way he's just rude. Yeah. He's kind of a jerk, but honestly, I'm digging it. There's something about how big of a rude guy he is. He was a really nice kid. Now he's not. Golly.
38:42 Shout out to Parks, man. He's just going through it. Oh, man. Keep us aware. I'm very, I'm happy for him. I didn't get to talk to him at the baby shower. He was all playing soccer the whole time. I saw him at the end and I was like...
38:54 He's all sweaty. Yeah, he was wearing his little polo. He looked handsome. Yeah. I'll tell you one way that you can get a bunch of girls. You can put some subwoofers on his bicycle. Did you take the show seriously? Never.
39:10 Rennie didn't know what it's like to take your stereo face off and take it with you so it didn't get jacked. Oh, yeah. You don't know what that's like. Yeah. I'm aware. My brother had to do that, but, you know, no. You were just getting no hose back then, dude. Just zero hose.
39:26 I had a Honda Civic that my brother kind of like souped up. It was my hand me down. I had a spoiler. I had some green lights in the vents. You drive. Radar detector. You're driving a girl to all. Olive Garden or, you know, TGI Fridays.
39:40 And she's like, huh, I just, I noticed that it's like, is this, is this stereo system? Is this stock? There's no thump whatsoever. Can you just drop me? You take me back home, actually. Yeah, I think, oh, I got to go. Like, my, my page is going off. My parents need me back home.
39:58 I'm sorry, Randy. I'll tell you this. Kids back then, back in the day, they didn't realize how much they needed the Ridge wallet. the Ridgewalt Power Bank. It's so true. I don't leave the house without it, especially with the new iPhone 18 coming out.
40:13 Your phone isn't the only thing that deserves an upgrade. It's exactly why I've been loving Ridges 5 and 1 travel power bank. How about just having a phone that's just got power whenever you need it? Doesn't that sound great? Sounds fantastic.
40:27 It has MagSafe wireless charging and Apple Watch charger. Dylan, you get the Apple Watch? I do. Lightning and USBC. Every way you need to. the charge. It's all-on-one premium device. Built-in cables mean you don't have to pack a bunch of extras every time you leave the house. No more juggling adapters and wall outlets at the airport just to get
40:46 the 20%. God, I know that feeling. With 20 watts of power and a 10,000 MAH battery, you can get up to three full phone charges wherever you go. And because it's MagSafe compatible, you can keep it magnetically attached to the back of your iPhone whenever you need some extra juice. Like everything Ridge makes, It's built to last with free shipping, a 99-day risk-free trial and a lifetime warranty. This is the last power bank you will ever need. I've got the ridge card, the tracker card in my wallet now that is hooked up to my phone. Oh, yeah. I'll find my iPhone thing.
41:22 So like if I, you know, get my wallet somewhere, I usually here. It was under the couch. I was looking at it. It says here, my ridge card is in the building. And it was sitting under that couch from the game show day. I was going to steal your shit, but I'm not now. I'm glad you didn't. One thing to pack, five ways to power.
41:40 You can find Ridge's Power Bank at Best Buy, or our listeners can get 10% off at Ridge.com by using code Steam at checkout. Just head to Ridge.com. Use code Steam, and you're all set after you purchase. They'll ask where you heard about them. Let them know. Support the show.
41:56 Tell them circling back, sent you. Check it out. Ridge Wallets, the Power Bank, all that stuff. It's very dope. They look cool, too. uh well we gotta talk about the cheesecake factory speaking or is cheesecake factory and the guest well probably because they have one of the best menus in the game the most voluminous certainly a little something for anybody that makes it the best though not the best but if you want options it's absolute hell trying to settle on a dish there you go there and you're just like it's the ultimate place to go where in like your palate is just confused i don't know what i want honey what do you want i don't know it's the worst place to go if your palate's confused you don't know what to pick uh yeah whatever i'm just trying to do the thing shut off i don't know what i'm just trying to do the thing shut off i don't know what i'm just trying to do the thing shut up i You go there and they got like options. You just open it up and you say, bam, that looks good.
42:41 Yeah. If you're me, it's like I had Taco Delo for lunch and unless it's like, well, let's go Cheesecake Factory. They got something else, even though she wants Mexican food. Sounds like I'm doing an ad read for the cheesecake factory. If you want Italian and the person you're with wants pizza, you can like go and get both. Thank you for landing that plane as I was having an emergency issue. Some girl asked me out. My tummy hurt.
43:01 As soon as Dillis started telling the story, someone commented, we have reached. cruising altitude this is uh captain shivery i feel like i'm a decent storyteller i don't know you need deeds man look nobody would be saying
43:18 anything the new brett's the villain on that yeah new brett's set me up i mean he's the he's the villain on that i know he's watching you set me up dog why do you like that i don't know anyway so uh Barack Obama very two-term president he uh
43:35 Cheesecake factory. Oh, we got them in studio. Hang on. They have a big menu. Okay. Don't know to pick. Well, yeah, he was dissing the orange man at a rally, and he was making fun of all the gold at the White House, kind of calling it tacky. And he was saying, it looks like a cheesecake factory.
44:01 What did he say, an elevated cheesecake factory? I think he mentioned Saddam Hussein. Oh, okay. Didn't he? Put the post, play that clip. Hold on, hold on. Do we have the clip? You really need that clip to really understand why Clay Travis is going in on the Cheesecake Factory.
44:16 Let me try and find it too, Randy. I'm going to help you out here. By the way, the Dope Mall in Dallas that I went to, the Dope Mall had a P.F. Chang's on one side, and then you walked a hundred yards. Boom. Cheesecake Factory. Randy, check your slack, Big Doke. When it was date night, we were driving up to North Park.
44:32 I can tell you that. He's got the White House looking like Saddam. Hussein opened up a cheesecake factory. It's a good line. Go through all this, the tally of promises, things have not worked out the way we might have expected. Although I must say, I did expect it.
44:58 And let's be honest. Does anybody really think this guy in the White House right now is spending all that time thinking about these issues? I mean, I don't know. if you've noticed, but he seems very focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV. Okay.
45:22 Guys building a ballroom that's bigger than the White House. It's paved over the Rose Garden, put a helicopter pad on the South lawn, and there's gold everywhere. What's up with the gold? Everything, more gold. He's got the white house looking like tonight. Hussein open the cheesecake factory. Okay. There it is.
45:47 Okay. So some people took exception to this. People are like, all right, well, we got to get, we got to just clap back and be like, why are you dissing the cheesecake factory? You're a little out of touch. A lot of people say, I'm like, man, it's actually like a really good place to eat. Yeah, that's what my family does. Yeah, my family used to go there every Sunday after church and it was a, it was a real treat for us.
46:09 Yeah, even though you specifically said it looked like if Saddam Hussein. the guy we executed you can watch the video it looks like what it would look like if he had made the cheesecake factory whatever don't don't worry about that part I will say as someone who I worked I work at a place we've done office trips to the cheesecake factory I'm sure we're just a very relatable company we've also done it to Longhorn
46:34 pricier than I remembered it yeah it's not cheap well when you start ordering booze drinks and you know we were boozing What did you order to drink? Do you remember? Dude, I was so fucked up. He was. Did we wear suits?
46:48 Dude, I blacked out. I don't know. I dressed up. I wore a suit. Should we go there for lunch? No. Yes. No.
46:57 No fun over here with this guy. Why? Because you brought like a low carb wrap. A gluten-free tortilla wrap? An almond flour wrap? Just made me a sandwich. God. A cheesecake factory.
47:11 That's pretty much like Willy Wonka. factory. That's sugar everywhere. You think Dylan wants to be in an environment like that? No, sir. The guy who brought cupcakes, by the way, whoever made those peanut butter cookies, they're good. I had one yesterday. Parks' his grandmother did. Shout to her. Yeah, so what happened? So Clay Travis is big mad. This is like, of course, you got to get in there. This is a little bit of a culture issue. If you want to make it one, let's get in there. Let's get in there and make it about me. Pablo Torre's antennas went up when Clay Travis was talking about going to the Cheesecake Factory as a kid. Many memories.
47:44 Yes. I've grown up going to cheesecake factories if I have the money to be able to afford it. There were lots of times in my life where the cheesecake factory was the most expensive place that we could go to for a fancy dinner. A couple problems with that. Clay was born in 1979. I grew up in Nashville. The first cheesecake factory opened in his hometown in 2005 after he graduated from the Georgia. George Washington University.
48:15 So if he had had Cheesecake Factory growing up, certainly it was aspirational because it was him and his family on a trip to Los Angeles, where the Cheesecake Factory started. The idea that, you know what, Tim, you know what? When I was growing up, Time Warner Cable was the company that I saw as an aspiration. Not all, it's just like, what are we doing?
48:37 You never even went to a fucking cheesecake factory, Clay. Stolen Baller. The stuart waller. You can't steal cheesecake factory. And also the joke was that it was Saddam Hussein's Cheesecake Factory. We're granting the fact that a dictator was the subject of the sentence that Obama had as the joke. And we're just going to take you on your own terms. Cheesecake Factory is sneaky gaudy inside.
48:58 Yeah. Like for a place, it looks like a- You can stop playing it. Looks like they want to be a Vegas restaurant. It feels Vegas-y. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. That's like, yeah.
49:07 Well, because it's usually at the mall. Like the one here is in a mall. So it's like you got your bag, you got your Lulu bag, you got your Lego store bag. Someone said to Clay Travis, ha ha, you lied about the cheesecake factory. And he said, why would I, and they said anything to keep the checks coming in. He said, why would I get checks based on Cheesecake Factory? I went to college in D.C. There has been a Cheesecake Factory in D.C. since my college years at least.
49:34 And then he says, he goes on to say, like, sorry I didn't know when the thing opened, but it was still like, a place to go for people who had money. And he was to plan the whole car. And everyone's like, we're not talking. We're moved beyond that. We're just talking about how you lied about going as a kid. Just take the L. That's a beautiful.
49:53 Yeah, take the L and move on. You can't take the L if you're in his C. You got to just move the goalposts a little bit. Dude, look at that. Yeah, that's a guy. It's like, that's like that belongs. That belongs in a casino, like right off, right off the floor. I told you, a place is sick.
50:08 This is nice. This is all these new places. with their facades and their millennial gray and their minimalism. Give me more cheesecake factories. Yeah. I think cheesecake factory just looks like Saddam Hussein did open it. Like, that is just a cheesecake factory.
50:24 You don't really need it, use it as a descriptor. Yeah, that's crazy. I'm not going to be able to look at that place the same next time I'm in there. People always say that these little stones look like the ISR on. I agree. That's sick. Anyway.
50:42 Election season, you never know what's going to come up. This is where has Cheesecake Factory social person capitalized on them? They should. If this were two years ago, whoever was running their account would be like really going after the like. So Mark Walker, who is a former member of Congress, pastor, ambassador, nominee in U.S. State Department rep. He posed in front of the Cheesecake Factory after this whole ordeal with the caption. clinging to my guns in religion at the Greensboro Cheesecake Factory tonight. Of course,
51:20 a reference to Barack Obama's infamous quote from his time running for president. This guy looks like Bill Burr. Yeah, this guy posed. This is a different guy I'm talking about, but this guy posed in front of a cheesecake factory. That's Chris Berger. Chris Berger. Nice name.
51:37 And someone pointed out that they called the restaurant to see if he actually went in and dined there. And they said there's no record of him going inside. Hey, just going to give you an update. Cheesecake Factory on Twitter is not posted. since April. They need a better social presence. They're not.
51:52 They're not leaning into Twitter marketing, I guess. We need all the brands back, like, tweeting at each other, going to, going to battle. Yeah. Let's see. They got a million followers on Instagram now. Let's see if they've jumped into the discourse. The answer is no. God damn, dude, this looks good.
52:11 I want, this looks great. I'm looking at what appears to be chicken and chicken. chicken cutlets here. Yeah, dude. Randy. Oh, some shrimp scompy, Randy. Ooh. Meatballs.
52:25 Damn. Scamps? I might just go there by myself today. Oh, no. But I'm going to post from the circling back account, so I'm going to just, I'm going to expense it. Cool. Can we do that? That is a big ass piece of chicken.
52:38 Anyway, how Cajun salmon looks good, too, Dylan. Probably high sodium, but that's okay. Uh, yeah, I mean, look, guys, sometimes you need a break from. all of the, um, the ads, the actual issues, the what's this going to do? What's this mean for my, my taxes? What's this mean for the price of gas? Did you diss the place that I went growing up a few times on some dates? Did you make light of the fact that maybe I had to go take my high school girlfriend at the cheesecake factory because it's all I could afford when I was 16? Did you do that? Let's not act like cheesecake factory isn't like a dunk on a bull establishment.
53:17 you know it's the name it's the name it's the cheesecake godiness of it it's goddy inside and it's also called the cheesecake and it's a chain so everyone knows it their cheesecake is great they have good cheesecake they have good food but come on uh i believe it was penn square mall in oklahoma city we would go there we went there a couple times after uh exams well i get to the cheesecake factory big group of us i see what i you're crazy i don't think you know obama of course was like making fun of cheesecake factory but like i see why people because people do put their like noses up to the cheesecake factory it's like when you do grow up in a situation it's like that is like going out to eat to like a tg i fridays is fancy and then tjshake factory is like the same level as
54:04 cheesecake factory and olive garden redlops are like the like elite then like people just like you know think oh like did you take did you take just a little did you take his little barb there is is turning his nose up to cheesecake factory no I think he's just more of making fun of, you know, Trump like, you know, making everything gold and looking like an emperor, all that stuff. Just a little hokey at all. It's funny that, like, when I said the cheesecake factory is like Gotti on the inside, I did, when you pull up the picture, I forgot it was that bad. Oh, yeah. I said it and I was like, wait, is it?
54:36 The one we went to that's attached to the mall, by the way. It looks just like that inside. I would call that fancy. Okay. Fancy. Didn't you, so you picked up a job at the factory. Was it the Cheesecake Factory? You've got a couple shifts out or what?
54:52 No one knows the joke because you can't explain it because it's too offensive to explain. So the joke's not going to land with the masses. It just lands with the three of us in here. Expert in Landing Plains over here, Dylan Shivery. You see, there's a chair with a... Here's a funny thing. If we're talking about brands
55:11 that do have good social media presence, I got to give a shout out to Incrustables. The new, a court of Thorne, You know that book series? And I think so. Came out very recently. This was their post today. And I think that this was pretty good.
55:28 A quart of peanut butter and junk. A court of, yeah. I don't know the ref. That's good. Would you read a book about, is that fairy porn? Yeah, that's, that's fairy fantasy smut.
55:39 Would you read some fairies and I don't know this one? Apparently it's popular enough to on Crossbow's is doing a thing. It's like one of the most like, most famous like book. All right, but did they win the internet today? You know what?
55:52 They might have. You, sir, have won the internet today. Did they win it? Oh, Randy liked it. Yeah, because I thought it was pretty funny. I think Cheesecake Factory needs people like that. All right. That's all.
56:09 A quart of peanut butter and jelly. It's good. Shout out. If they've got a new book, why is Alyssa not reading it yet? Maybe she is. Megan just got it in the mail. Really? Yesterday.
56:20 So I think it might have just come out. Okay. I'm sure Alyssa's going to get it soon. Yeah. She's usually in on those. There's another book. I gotta take a picture of it that I noticed on her nightstand. And I was just, I kind of laughed.
56:36 It's just damn. You are just good for her. She's a reader. Her families are all, her family reads a lot of books. Performative, according to you. I did not say it was performative. That was not me.
56:47 That was you? It was not David. So. A right. Cool. Uh, that's the show, folks. Unless you got it something else. Good show today.
56:56 Anything else? Uh, shout out Parks today, man. Shout out the Parks. We were thinking good thoughts. Yeah. Remember, just, honestly, go outside, smoke a SIG, then go back in. Yeah. Go behind the bleachers.
57:12 Rip a SIG going. You'll be good. Yeah. Take the edge off a little bit. Take the edge off. Oh, okay. You're telling Parks to do that. Yeah.
57:19 Gotcha. You can do it too. Yeah, you can do it too. I don't care what you do. No. Might you're dead? You can go smoke a sick outside. You can smoke inside.
57:26 You can smoke crack. You go smoke crack out there. Braddon smoked a deal sick in a while. Yeah, he hasn't. Did we shame him out of that? Or maybe he hadn't closed a deal in a while. No, I think we shamed him out of it. Well, he would.
57:38 He did it and then he would like kind of just do it out. He just, I think it was the whole. It was the presentation of the deal sick. Like, he would light it up. That was performative. And then like he would like go in a different room, light it up and then sit down. And then just like sit there with it. And it's like we're smelling it.
57:55 It seems cooler. It's one of those things. It seems cooler in your head. Yeah. And then doing it, I'm like, bitch, I'm like, oh, man, it smells like smoking here. Yeah. And like, Randy's coughing. It's like, if you were to just like go outside, not tell all of us.

Or like the old Italian guys looking up to skyscrapers, just ripping a sig. And we're like, what the fuck's, what's Brett doing out there?
58:28 And you're, oh, it's a deal sig. He needs to be aura farming. He was like trying to or, or like, garden. And it's just not going to work, you know. Yeah. And then you got Randy over doing origami. That's our show, folks. We'll see you tomorrow.
