So I'm with guys that's from middle of Indiana. I don't know who nobody is. I'm the only dude from East Chicago. I'm just going out there just hooping. And I see they team. It's crazy. I do remember the dude fielding with them. Yeah, field cover. Covered on before the game.

They like, man, you look like my boy. That's your twin. They joking on me. They don't say they laughing. I'm like, okay, they think it's cool. They think it's cool. That's crazy because he had the long braids back then. You shouldn't go.

Then we hooped the Indiana All-Star. No, crazy. I played against y'all. Well, I played, hey, let me tell you this story too. I played against them for three minutes. Oh, yeah. That's crazy. I'm going to Wake so I wasn't getting no love but they was the Purdue versus IU and practice he like I got Eric I'm like you know Eric was average before I already guard him all the time I'm cool he's like nah I got him

yeah what's up like I'm like oh yeah he different I'm like yeah he gonna be nice they would go at it I'm like yeah it's crazy because I know people used to always try to, like, compare us. And at the time, I ain't going to lie to you, I thought I was colder than him. I'm like, I'm colder than him. He ain't messing with me. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I look back on it.

Once about time I got to Lee, I said, ugh, I see what that is. I'm like, I think it was cold. I'm like, what? I'm like, maybe way colder than me. I'm like, he was strong. He could have went to the NBA out of 10th grade. I went to that game where y'all played them at North Central. He had that 50 piece.

You got your leg back? Yeah. He was. Well, I think he got his leg back. That's what I'm saying. His career is so underrated. And obviously, at time period, like everybody every year, we had consistent McDonald's All-Americans.

But Eric was so good. But y'all was just right there, too. It just didn't help because everybody pushed that. But y'all was, like you said, bro, you were in a state, a time where everybody was cold. You had to play everybody good to get that one. Yeah, our competition was crazy. And there's an amount of dudes that made it to the league, too.

Man, I tell people all the time, like, man, our competition, we was, and everyone, like, nobody dug no smoke. Everybody wanted to play against each other. It was all love, too, at the same time. Even with y'all, like, it was just so crazy because Pike, even in them years where he was going 22 and 4, yeah, you got to play Greg Oden. And if you get lucky and beat them, you get Eric Gordon. Like, that shit's crazy.

Then you had Carmel with Joshua Roberts. Yeah. Then we had people like, people forget, like Dominique James that was called. Richmond.

Shit, we played Juwan and then when he was at Franklin Central, they beat us one game. Like, damn, Juwan.

You know what I'm saying? We couldn't really escape an NBA player, really. Yeah, the basketball, I feel like Indiana High School basketball

the best in the country. Yeah. I mean, for other people, they might want to argue that, but for me, I feel like Yeah, the basketball. Did you know y'all almost played college basketball together? No, I didn't know that. No, he the reason I didn't play college basketball. He said it. It's crazy because I just took my high school team to Purdue, and I was telling Coach Painter, like, I had committed to Purdue, but they had no scholarship for me. For real?

Because of you. Oh, no, man. Maybe we'd have made one. He can put his hat on just like that fox on here. Why didn't you do somebody else? I grabbed my Purdue hat and was like, hey, I'm going to Purdue. And he was like, we don't got no scholarships. Because –

And he was like I ain't about to pass up On Etuan and Robbie For you Like really You're in a different position You'd have been playing a point And I was like

Me, I was watching their game. I'm like, man, dang, I wish I could hoop somewhere like that. So, going there was like crazy. I'm like, oh, dang. When they first offered me a scholarship, I'm like, y'all sure? Y'all want me? You know what I'm saying? It's because you just don't know.

I was just hooping first just because there wasn't nothing else to do. It's either hoop or getting trouble. So I'm going to say I'm going to fall in love with this basketball. So me, for real, I didn't really realize I can go to the NBA probably until my sophomore year. I don't know, after my sophomore going into my junior year. My first couple years, I'm just hooping. I'm just having fun.

I'm like, man, if I can go overseas and play some cheese, I'm straight. It's going to be more than I grew up. I can be a little decent cop. Yeah.

I don't say you can be in the house, give me a little Cadillac, give me a little decent trip. Are you going to wear the Caddy? I said, give me a little Caddy. I'm straight. He's straight.

But for real, Jeff T was one of the dudes that inspired me for real because I saw him hooping and balling. I saw him get ready to go to the lead.

I'm like, dang, these same dudes that I'm hooping against, they going and they my class. You know what I'm saying? So I'm like, damn, if they can do it, then I'm. Like now I'm like if they can do it and I'm sound like I can do it too. It wasn't like it wasn't like no India like I was like, it's like I'm better than like dang. Hold on. But on the same car flag. Yeah, that's my class.

Like I just used to hoop. You know what I'm saying? But then once I got somebody that showed me how to work out and show me how to do stuff then it was over after that. But yeah, but it was crazy, man. Pre-drive. You know, I'm going out all the workouts. I had probably about 14 workouts.

I'm like, man, I know all these things I was driving. Why they got me coming in? It's so crazy. You got to do it. Yeah, you got to do it. Some of the teams, I like, man, you got the 15th pick. I know I ain't going no 15th. Come on, man. I'm barely on the draft board. Y'all got me going here working out for number 15. But it was cool though, man. Pre-draft process and then getting drafted was a long night for me.

55th pick. But I feel like everything happened for a reason. For sure. For sure. Like you said, to be second round pick and have a decade in the NBA, it's crazy. It's a lot of first rounders who fizzle out and don't get to that second contract. For sure. Man, you've been in a couple cities, man. I mean, unbiasedly, what's one of your

favorite cities you've played in? Played in? I mean, it's crazy. Unbiased? I mean, how am I not be biased? I mean, me playing for the Bulls is crazy. I mean, I'm growing up, like I said, again, I ain't had a cable. So only game that came on the team was Bulls and some of the Pacers, but I'm channel nine, WGN, you know what I'm saying? I'm getting all them, you know what I'm saying? And growing up during the mid-90s, Jordan era.

Real. I mean, it's just surreal. I mean, I never could even dream of that, you know what I'm saying? That I'd be playing for the Bulls. You know, I never even dreamed of that, you know what I'm saying, that I'd be playing for the Bulls. You know, you'd be outside, Jordan, doing moves, but you know what I'm saying, you never really thought. You thought you had to be lucky to make it that far, you know what I'm saying?

So I started getting into some, first I started doing real estate. You know what I'm saying regular single flipping homes and stuff like that then I got to some commercial real estate um one of my um coolest projects I got to do aviation development okay Dallas that's pretty cool um you know so uh you know just transitioning to that

business uh for sure has been I've been pretty cool you know and you know hey man transitioning to that business side. For sure, bro. Has been pretty cool, you know. And, you know, hey, man, it's a blessing. Got to keep it going. You know what I'm saying? That's a fact, yeah. Also, I might try to do something in basketball. I want to try to, you know, get maybe to some front office type stuff. You know what I'm saying?

I pulled up in an outfit like this everybody else came with polos so i was still in hoop mode like you know i'm still thinking i'm the guy like you're about to walk in we're about to chill about to do these meetings and i'm forgetting that i'm on the other side of the basketball now i'm in the front office i don't get on the court so i was all out of pocket i felt so out of place i'm looking at everybody i'm trying to get up and get water and like right so they won't like sit in the back so they won't notice me but nah i was out of pocket but i knew that wasn't for me i knew it wasn't for me that's what that was your first i mean outside

the mars that's your first time getting the job yeah that was my first job i was working at a grocery store bro so i ain't really that's buying a job to me's why I was working at a grocery store, bro. So I ain't really, basketball ain't a job to me. It was like, that's something we would have did for free, right? Right. But working in the front office, I was like, dang. Bro, I tell people all the time, I ain't make it playing basketball. I'd have been hooping at the Boys and Girls Club anyway. Yeah.

Just for fun. Just for fun. It's facts. But yeah, man, I say, you know, I just try to, you know what I'm saying? Obviously, I love basketball and I always mentor young guys and guys that's in college, guys that's, you know what I'm saying? know, being a player and going through every step. Like, I was a starter for four, five years, came off the bench for three, four years, then had two years where I was kind of playing, barely not playing. So, I'm saying I didn't got a taste of everything in the league. So, why not try to give back being a player? They need more players, more guys like us that understand what's going on. And we can, you know what I'm saying, relate to the younger guys now.

Because guys coming in at 19, like my first year, like, yeah, he was on the old team too. But my first year on the team, man, we had like eight dudes that's like 33 and older, you know what I'm saying, when I was in Boston. So now I'm in the league a lot younger and, you know what I'm saying, just try to bridge that gap, you know what I'm saying, front office. And, you know what I'm saying, some of the players, I feel like that's something that they need a little bit more of and, you know, help give a little guidance. So, I feel like, you know what I'm saying, somebody like me would be a good candidate.
