Starting point is 00:00:00 Townies, we have a wonderful episode of Dumb People Town for you today with the great Rafe Williams. Raiflua, Bob, Pa, Pa, Pa, Pa, Pa, ba, ba. Love that you're here. We bring everything crazy. We've got a ghost in the graveyard or not. It's not the game. It's actually criminal.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We'll unpack it in story number one. Story number two, Randy delivers the goods from the cockroach king of Australia. It's, that false sexual. It's not. It's just dumb and wild and weird. And I didn't know anybody to care that much about bugs. And then I close us out with the rumor mill number one story from Rochelle, Illinois that has more questions than answers, but the kids at the pool saw a lot, and they learned
Starting point is 00:00:34 that day. Yep. Listen to your parents. It's all on this episode of Dump People Town. Dan and Ran and Jay will share tales of folks so unaware they lack and grace and sometimes choose the life they choose will make the news breaking down each epic bail in Florida. There's half price bail. I'm happy to say they do.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Podcast band with co-host Arm and Dan. Van Dirk. Don't be a jerk. Dumbes wet. Dumpin' music, The funny hits. Stick around. Make a sound.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Come you're down. It's Dumb People Town. Hey, Tadies. Welcome to another episode of Dumb People Town. Population. You. Population Williams. Raph Williams.
Starting point is 00:01:23 What's up, buddy. Welcome, dude. St. Louis's own. If ever there was a show that was designed for you and your personality, your comedy, your skill set. This is what you do. I feel like you're like, I know all the dumb people. I've born and raised amongst them.
Starting point is 00:01:38 I've walked amongst them. So feather on your earring says you know a lot. So Rayne Williams, the roach clip on your earring says, I know all. That's right. You are one of our favorite people to hang with and rapidly one of becoming one of our favorite comics to work with St. Louis. Oh, man. We've taken you on the road with us and loved it so much.
Starting point is 00:01:58 And also, like, getting in a hang with you the past couple falls in St. Louis. Flavrefest. Just the freaking best, man. Stand up on the spots. We both did that show to kick off the. Festival. That's fun, man. You absolutely destroyed.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Oh, dude, he did phenomenal in our Tagget Show. I actually heard otherwise about that show. But that first one, dude. Oh, damn. They're not all home runs, too. Sometimes you've got to slap one out to right feet. Sometimes you've got to show people it's not easy. And Rafe does a great job of showing that sometimes comedy is hard.
Starting point is 00:02:27 But you kept saying, like, going to lay down a bunt here, which I don't think the audience understood what that meant. Just saying, oh, hey, sometimes you got to sacrifice. Sometimes you got to lean in and take one for the team. I try. No, dude, you crush. That whole weekend, you crush. What were we texting about a show that we're like, we should do this?
Starting point is 00:02:41 And we're like, we'll figure it. I'll look it up on the thing. I thought I knew what I was talking about. While we think about that, the world is getting dumb. Ro's getting dumb. We're going to get into how you can follow Rafe and support him. Well, Dan stops thinking about it. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:02:53 First up, this is a story that was sent in by Sean Anderson at Sean 70. We love him. S-H-A-W-N-E. Here's the headline. Do you know it's a he or she? It's a he. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:03:04 A grown man. A grown man. So already there's a judge. being placed in this. Like, if you shouldn't, you shouldn't be doing this as a grown man. What year is grown man? 26? 20, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Because they could have just said man. Right. When you say a grown man in the headline, leading a witness. You're insulting. You shouldn't be doing this. You should know better. Right. I say a young man that's in his 20s, correct?
Starting point is 00:03:28 You're a grown man. I think so. Grown-ass man shouldn't be doing this. Is it a young man? Young man in his 20s. Yeah, I just say, pre-25. You're definitely not getting a late spurt anymore. Grown man.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Pre-25, I like that. Do you consider yourself a grown man? I just got there, man. Like, I just, yeah, I just... Did your one hair cut away from me? Grown man than a shown man. Yeah. I think as soon as my long hair hit my shoulders, I was like, now I'm grown.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Now I'm grown. A grown man. A grown man was fined for pretending to be a ghost in a cemetery. Oh, so he may have been... It should be G-R-O-A-N. A grown man. Oh. We thought this.
Starting point is 00:04:07 This whole time he was being judge, turns out, he just Those chains, grown man. What do you do for a living? Me? I'm a grown man. Grown man does sound like a member of Wu-Tang. Yeah, grown man in the river. Method man.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Grown man. I can't go on. My grown man's not here. You need a grown man. It's like a hype man, but it's a little scarier. Right. Here we go. People identify as all sorts of things these days.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Who the hell are you? Why do you start an article? Why do you make identity into this thing? Did my uncle Dave write this? I don't know if he's a they, a he, or a ghost. All right, here we go. And one man in Portsmouth pushed that idea into very strange territory. Is that Maine?
Starting point is 00:04:48 I think so. Yeah. After a night of... After a night of drinking, and I'm not going to tell how he is because we'll guess at the end. Anthony Stollard stepped into Kingston Cemetery and decided to act like a ghost right there among the headstones. I don't understand why this is a... What if he's like... You are taking the words out of my mouth.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Why is this? Who's mad at this? So far this guy's a cool guy. Thank you. In my opinion. Cool guy alert. Try to communicate. We got a cool guy alert.
Starting point is 00:05:14 So far I'm like, oh, you saw a cemetery and you made it fun, good for you. If you are feeling breezy at a hotel bar and you said to somebody, oh, what's something you like to go to the cemeteries and pretend I'm a ghost? I'm like, you aren't going to go for an hour. Tell me. Say less. Say more. This isn't a crime.
Starting point is 00:05:31 This is a great conversation stuff. This is an evening. We've entered a horrible date. We've entered what a show. A show don't tell portion of that improv show. I'm like, take me. Show me what you mean. We take you now to Kingston Cemetery.
Starting point is 00:05:44 We're in a this American life for this. So, act one. Can I just say this about it? He stands his arm's on. So here's my question, though. Like, when ghosts are in chains and, ooh, dragon chains around, that makes death seem so shitty to me. Yes. Like, it shouldn't it be more fun?
Starting point is 00:06:01 Like, this is what you're doing. Okay. People who've died. You're moaning. People who've died in the last. 10 years. I'd be expecting to see a ghost in a cemetery. Is he about to call it dead for? I'd be expecting to see a ghost in a cemetery. Like you'd be walking to a cemetery and you see like kind of, you can see through a guy. Well, the original chain ghost is Marley. Yes. Yeah, Jacob Marley. But now if a person died within the last, since the iPhone, last 15 years, you could walk into a cemetery and see a ghost going like this.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Yeah. Unfinished text business. Oh, gosh. Scrolling. Like literally dead Instagram. Death scrolling. Can we call it death scrolling? It's death scrolling. All right, here we go. He stretched out his arms, wandered between graves, and let out woo sounds that startled the people nearby. Who is at a cemetery at night? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Yeah, why are they there? Yeah. Well, what are we asking what you're doing here? Picking up trash. Also, if you knew there was like a local pretend ghost and you could use that to discipline your kids, all day. Do you want me to put you in the car and drive to the ghost? Go to bed.
Starting point is 00:07:04 A. That's Midwest Dad all the way. That's a Midwest Dad thought all the way. Using the thread of the ghost is... Well, we can't use belts anymore. Hey, honey, put your shoes on. I guess we're going for a ghost drive. Somebody doesn't want to finish their homework.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Do you want me to take it to the ghost? Because I will take it all the way to the ghost. So husband and wife talking loudly enough for the kid to be here. Oh, honey, I guess we're going to have to go to the ghost. Yeah, honey, somebody doesn't want to... I hear someone in the hallway and they're supposed to be in their bedroom. but this guy's somebody wants to change their pronouns, huh? Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Put your ghost pants on, kids, we're going. They're ruining this life. Let's show him the afterlife. Yeah. Okay. Witnesses later told police that he wasn't joking around. What do you mean? This is a serious business?
Starting point is 00:07:50 Is he a ghost? Wait. He literally is joking around. There's no other explanation. That's a bit of conjector, though. Unless he's trying to, yeah. Well, you're a witness and you go, hey, the guy wasn't joking around. How do you know?
Starting point is 00:08:03 What do you mean? This guy wasn't joking around. I've seen playful haunts. This was not that. This is a very, very serious. It's so far from joyous. The way he moaned, there's a lot of gravitas. We're living under the auspice that in order to be a witness to witness not playing around, you have witnessed enough fake haunts.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Playing around. That you know. Guys, I know a jovial ghost. Yeah. Guys, I've been around the mausoleum once or two. I go back to Randy's. Why are you in the summer? What are you doing there?
Starting point is 00:08:34 Let's return the question on you. Were you joking around? Right. Not my first radio in Hades, guys. Here's what he says. Not my first turn on the river sticks. He staggered through the past, shouting and drawing attention until someone finally called it in. The finally is again a judgment.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Like somebody do this. This is the reporter saying they're mad at how long it took to some community action. Until someone finally did something. Someone finally called it. The officers arrived, brought the night to a stop, and the whole episode ended with Stalard. facing a fine in court. According to the reports, Stoward and his friends
Starting point is 00:09:08 face down. Had been drinking before heading to the cemetery where they played football among the graves and caused a dangerous game. That's the most dangerous game. That's disrespectful.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Well, yes, but also. If it's American football, then it's less disrespected. Agreed. You can't be tackling among the headstones, which is a great Liam Neeson. Sly tackling?
Starting point is 00:09:30 He's saying football like British football. Oh, so we are. I think we are. Then maybe a fine should be levied. Okay. His ghost act quickly drew attention for all the wrong reasons. When officers arrived, they found him in full character, pretending to be an apparition in front of startled visitors. Who is visiting the cemetery at night?
Starting point is 00:09:49 Startled visitors. Yeah. In court. Like, if you go to a cemetery at night, expect weird stuff to happen. Am I wrong? No, that's what I'm saying. What were these visitors doing that they weren't? This is like extra.
Starting point is 00:10:01 To me, I'm like, you got what you paid for. Right. Went to a cemetery at night. This guy's putting up. You guys remember. This guy's doing his act. He should be like, you're welcome. You remember the Coldren story from when I was a grave digger.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Yes. Dan, I forgot. He was a grave digger. Dan was a grave digger. So there was an area of the back in the corner. I ain't saying he's a grave digger. Yeah. There's a corner back of the cemetery.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Now, this is just what it's called. Okay. I don't know. What you tell me a better name. I'll use that. All right. But they said that's where the gypsies are buried. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Okay. What's the other name? Travelers. They said like they. Travelers insurance. Yes. Travelers. That's what they're called traveling.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Did they say it was kind of a jip that they got put over there? No. Yeah. So that's it. Can't say that. They just said the gypsies are buried back here. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Nothing grows back there. They call it greasy. They said it. Nothing grows back here because gypsies are in the ground? They don't know. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:10:50 So there is a cauldron there over like some among the gravestones where these people are buried. Giant pot. Nothing in it. It was your job as a graveyard here to fill it with dry ice. One morning, John Loggins and I get to the cemetery.
Starting point is 00:11:03 And I love, all the logins in Messina Alves. I have all of them. Danny Song is doing the VP fair this year. Do you ever, did you ever turn to Loggins and say it's now, we got to cut loose? I've told you about this guy. I think I've heard about it. He is a card.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Okay? Recumbent bike, Dr. Laura on the radio every day during lunch. And he broke. Would practice taekwondo on me. No. When I would say, John, you're the only one practicing. Come at me with your thumb, but put it at my shoulder. Can I tell you, I would smack me and go misdirection.
Starting point is 00:11:33 That's the key to my mind. I saw someone on a sit-down bike the other day and he was pedaling himself like this. Arm peddling. Arm peddling. And I looked at his legs and I'm like either he could be not. They don't work. Either his legs don't work or they're just not developed enough. I couldn't tell.
Starting point is 00:11:50 I was like either you, this is the only thing you can do or you shouldn't be doing this. Or it's literally a flex. It's an arm flex. So you get your ass kicked by a guy on a recumbent bike is a bit of a slap. Get to the cemetery. That's a relaxed ass kicking. And some high school kids, we assume, not grown men and women. Sure.
Starting point is 00:12:10 Hooked the cauldron up to like a truck, pulled it out of the ground, and then dragged it through the cemetery and left there. That's extra work for you. And John said, gypsies aren't going to like this. Nope. Right? So then the next morning, we come in and in the dead of night, brand new cauldron all set up with like candles and like little artifact. things like placed all around it. So that,
Starting point is 00:12:36 though, at least those people, they're in the cemetery late at night. Oh. Yeah. They came and fixed it. They came and repaired it. I didn't like going back there.
Starting point is 00:12:47 What if the dead gypsies did it? Even better. Thank you. So as far as I know, that's who's in there late at night. All right. So, Jay, continue. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Although an additional count of criminal damage to gravest was dismissed, the main offense stood. Okay. Prettary to the main offense. Here's the main offense. Threatening. an abusive behavior likely to cause distress. They find him and
Starting point is 00:13:07 it's in pounds. They didn't make him pay two little coins off his eyes. Yeah, right. That'd be great. He also received an extra three months added to an existing conditional discharge from a prior harassment charge. He had another harassment charge. Okay, but the first thing, if you're a haunted house,
Starting point is 00:13:24 a haunted house is a thing in the UK? No. It has to be. No. I don't know. Maybe. I don't know either. They do like Hollywood. Hire this man. Yeah. Because his resume. Let him be a Jack the Ripper. tour guy. This is scary and stressful on his own. Imagine what
Starting point is 00:13:38 he'll do in your haunted house. Right. Because when they go, hey, you're being arrested because you were a major stress to people. That's a criminal offense. Your response to go, guess I did a good fucking job. Thank you. Someone's good at their job. Thank you for getting me my next three haunted house jobs on Halloween. Stalard told the police it was meant as a harmless fund, but authorities
Starting point is 00:13:54 disagreed. Yeah. The cemetery setting combined with alcohol and shouting, push things beyond a joke. What might have been funny among friends ended as a public order offense or public disorder. proving that ghost impressions are best kept to Halloween parties. I don't know about that. That's a huge overreach.
Starting point is 00:14:12 A ghost impression. May you think this is a cemetery that's like tucked into like a very overcrowded part of Portsmouth? Like a neighborhood? Yeah, people are like next door hearing the yelling. Oh, it's like a park that's like in between. Like it's like just 50. But now here's where witnesses kind of disagree with the cops. They described the scene.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Not that good. One guy's disappointed in the performance. As disruptive, but not aggressive. the real issue was timing in place. Cemetery are meant for reflection and remembrance, not impromptu comedy acts. Well, there goes my show. Let's tell that to Joe DeRosa,
Starting point is 00:14:45 recorded a special at the Hollywood Forever Sanitation. Oh, yeah. In a mausoleum. God bless him. Precedent, Your Honor. He's so funny. The court's ruling was a lesson for everyone to understand that humor depends heavily on context.
Starting point is 00:14:58 No shit. Yeah. The absurdity of Stellard's case gained attention online. Many people joked about the fine calling it. the most expensive haunting in history. Is that a joke? I don't know. That you joked about the,
Starting point is 00:15:09 social media reactions lean towards humor with some admiring his commitment and others claiming the police. I'm laughing not at the joke, but that they called it. That's a joke, that they called that a joke. It's an odd mix of comedy and consequences for sure.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Stop calling it comedy. It's not comedy. It's not comedy part. Well, we don't know. We weren't there. He might have been killing. Do you kids want to be? You ever feel?
Starting point is 00:15:30 It's like observational. It's like observational comedy. Did your kids? want to go to haunted houses? No. You feel like a haunted house guy. That was my Byron Allen moment. Dude, I was telling, I was telling somebody yesterday, I was like, we were Midwest
Starting point is 00:15:45 kids, so we were Zach Baggins, way before Zach Baggins ever existed, dude. The ghost hunter guy. Like, we were just a bunch of white kids and farmhouses scaring the shit out of ourselves. Every neighborhood had a boo Radley. Everyone. Every neighborhood had, like a house at the end of the street, old guy, throw rocks at people when they came off today, didn't. do their lawn ever and you're like
Starting point is 00:16:06 oh there's dead people like the story the burbs yeah don't dig up the don't go in there don't go there on Halloween there's a confirmed bachelor named Bill who gave up 50 cent pieces on Halloween in my hometown we were like he's trying to get us in there we would switch like mask Walmart masks and go back up
Starting point is 00:16:22 trying to like make money off this guy 50 cents but this guy was probably a fine human being but you just attach whatever lure you need to him for and that's what made Halloween fun great to me I would salute him he's one of our great veterans That drunk and creativity, unfortunately, didn't end with applause. Ultimately, the case became more of an example of poor judgment than criminal intent.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Stellar didn't harm anyone. No, he didn't, but his choice to stage. An audience turned a silly little prank into a legal problem. His brief haunting earned him a lasting place in Britain. See, right, England, collection of unusual crime stories. There was no record of him reviving his ghost routine, though, if he ever considers him the performance. To me, I would have loved it if there was no record of the routine that.
Starting point is 00:17:03 night. He is a ghost. That's so funny. All right. And we'll get out of here on this. How old is Anthony Stallard? You were our guests. Drunk with friends. Ghosting it up. Man, this feels like an uncle routine to me. Okay. So I'm picturing my uncle Dave as a child. Yes. Who would take us, he would take a VW hood and drill holes in it and pull us behind a four-wheeler over at a junkyard. Perfect. It's very unsafe. An unsafe man, but in the most fun ways. Fun unsafe guy.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Fun unsafe guy. He took it to the line. Takes it to the line. And that my uncle, that, I'm thinking he's in his 40s, possibly early 50s. Like still beat down enough by life that he's, I'm going to go exactly. I'm going to say he is 48. 48 years old. This is like Rayne Williams dumb mentalist.
Starting point is 00:17:58 Yeah. Like you can figure it out with. I'm going the opposite way. I think they called him a grown. man because they want this young man to realize. To grow up. You're a grown man. So I'm going to go
Starting point is 00:18:10 31 years old. I'm going to continue with that thinking and go he's either 26 or 59. I'm going 26. Okay. One of you is two years off. I go up for down. I love a two year off. Twenty-eight. You said
Starting point is 00:18:27 31, Dan. Yeah, I know. He's 29. I said 48. I'll go 50 on the nose. Yeah, give him a 50 piece. Like what's his face. Yeah, dude. And the story one, we're going to tell you what we got going on and then how you can
Starting point is 00:18:40 support Rafe and how to follow him and all of his great stuff. This kid, Anthony Stallard, is 24 years old. Oh, man. He was a young man's game. That's not a grown man. That's not a grown man yet. They want him to start thinking that he's a girl. Haunting his young man.
Starting point is 00:18:54 All right. We'll be right back after the break. Rafe Williams is with us. It's Wittletown. Don't go nowhere. Guys, I don't have to tell you. August is the perfect. time to hit the reset before the autumn rush begins. And honestly, we can't think of a better place to
Starting point is 00:19:08 start than your closet. We've all been chivalry. Randy, Dan, and I that we love Quince. I love these guys. They're all about fewer and better pieces. Starting point is 00:23:40 Live cockroaches A man So more than this one It's illegal to keep them In Australia We're confiscated From a single breeder How do you become a cockroach
Starting point is 00:23:51 Breeder Why do we need to breed them? Aren't they everywhere? I feel like at a certain size, they start to feel like an animal, like a, like a, something you're going to put akin to like a lizard or a turtle. Mo Welch's joke. Mo Welch's joke. It's the best joke.
Starting point is 00:24:07 She's like, poor people. Don't have big pets. One big pet. They have like a bunch of little ones. That's right. It's like we had 14 like little. Amsters. It's such a great joke.
Starting point is 00:24:19 It's like nine cockroaches. Like I could see like, because they're. cheap to get and then you just have them. Like, where do the kids play with you do? I love that Australia is like you can't have over this. Like that's another Australian thing. Like Eric Friedman, our buddy went to Australia and he just read about all the things that can kill you
Starting point is 00:24:34 in Australia. Sure, there's a lot. There's a lot. Big list. All right. We're compensated from a single breeder in the country, the largest ever seizure of exotic. That's saying a lot too. You were part of the largest ever seizure of exotic invertebrates. I would have a seizure if I saw those invertebrates. Look at how big this
Starting point is 00:24:50 freaking thing is. Oh my. My lord. Oh, that's a legit. That's like a pet. It's like the momming roach. Yeah. It does look like that. It is like the long.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Tip. Anyway, all right. The image, here we go. Okay, here we go. All right. It's Wellington, New Zealand. More than blank. A number of live cockroachish.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Yeah. Illegal to keep in Australia. We're confiscated from a single breeder in the country's largest ever seizure. The hall of Madagascar hissing cockroach. I said that was a hissing cockroach. Why do we need to add that to it? It's my favorite attraction at Disney World. The hissing cockroachers?
Starting point is 00:25:22 Hall of Hull of Hissing Cockroaches? Yeah, they're animatronic, but they seem so lifelike. It's true. How much money do you think? I bet there's a lot of money in the Cockroach Center. Yeah, the 11th. That's right. I bet there's a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Would you say that this is a cock ring? Cockroochree. Yeah, it's a cockroach. Yeah, they broke up a cock ring. So how much? Per? Just overall. How much like in the hall?
Starting point is 00:25:45 Because I didn't tell you how many it is, but just you can guess basic. Oh, in the bus, like how much money they confiscated from the just that how much was the whole thing worth. Yeah, I don't know. Remember, this is the largest. $50,000. What do you think? I'm going to say $100,000.
Starting point is 00:26:02 I'm going to say $50,000. I think, guys, what could be... I don't know what one of these cockroaches can go for. I mean, imagine they can't be... There can't be a lot of these. 400 bucks.
Starting point is 00:26:13 If they saw the thousand of them, there are five bucks each. So you're ready for this? I'll do it on Australian dollars first. And now you'll know the conversion rate. 200,000 Australian. trillion dollars which is $10.000 no 142 000 I said $100,000
Starting point is 00:26:28 you were close from a commercial breeder in the city of Bathurst in South Wales State according to Australia's department of climate Energy and Environment and Water the Madagascar hissing species one of the world's biggest cockroaches measuring two to three inches length photos released by department showed shiny brown invertebrate larger
Starting point is 00:26:44 than a person's finger so where are they keeping the roaches now at a roach motel I think so I'm sharing cockroach which measures that long all right cockroaches were flourishing in Australia due to its subtropical climates and the country is home to hundreds of species. Bathurst's snake catcher, Stephanie Lesser, not more, told Australian Broadcasting Corp that the larger exotic species were likely to be sold as a cost-effective reptile food. So now you're using them and purposing in the right of. Both Madagascar...
Starting point is 00:27:11 Buy minos to go fishing. And dubia cockroaches are illegal to import into Australia. You can't breathe bringing animals into another place. Can't be legally... You'll ruin the ecosystem. So I think he was bringing them in. You can't bring it. Where do you put them in? Carry on? They're going to see it. No idea. They have strict biosecurity controls at the Board of Protect Agriculture, Horticulture, sectors. You cannot. Yes. I don't think you can even bring a plant into Australia. Why would you though? I don't think you can bring an orange. Those struggling, uh, what I was going to say? Those smuggling, I would say struggling in undeclared
Starting point is 00:27:45 or illegal animal insect or plant material can be fine thousands of dollars. Exotic cockroaches have not been subject to an environmental risk assessment, though who wants them? Who is saying we need more of these? Well, obviously there's a market for it. The guy's got $150,000. And so if they're reptile food, it's like, that's where you go. Like, we've got to go feed all the reptiles down in Australia.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Oh, you think it's like, bougie? I think I'm the guy to... They buy the highest-end cockroaches for their reptiles. To me, I think he's got a whole coat full of them. He opens it up and he's like... He's like... He's like... He's like selling the Omaha steaks of cockroaches to people who...
Starting point is 00:28:19 own large reptiles. We're going to advertise on this show. Going door to door. Spokesman said the charges weren't laid against the bath horse, weren't laid against the bathurst breeder. That, of course, is now going to be his name. Forever. Yeah, yeah. Cockroaches seized would be, I don't want to say, euthanized by the thing.
Starting point is 00:28:35 All right. Let's get into this. How many cockroaches were seized? How many did he try to enter into Australia with? It's got to be an insane number. He's not just tap. I'm upset about the money because I want to be. I wanted this to be a love of the game guy.
Starting point is 00:28:52 I wanted this to be a guy that Wendy got into it. When they took him away, he knew them all by name. He's like, make sure you don't separate Martha and Larry. They're in love. Some of the first and last names. Yeah. He's like he has been named them all. He knows which ones are actually in love with one another.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Oh, God. Just upsetting. That's Jerry O'Connell? Yeah. So Joe's apartment came out right around the time, Apartment 2F, which was our original show on MTV. And people thought it was. They're like, I loved you guys in Joe's apartment.
Starting point is 00:29:20 We're like, that's not what we're. And after a while, enough people said it that they're like, we loved you in Joe's apartment. We're like, thank you. Thank you. All right. How many cockroaches? $50,000. $3 a cockroach.
Starting point is 00:29:35 I'm going to go $2,000. $2,000. What do you think? Oh, $150,000. $142,000. I'll say upwards of $2,500 hissing cockroaches. And I love that you said that in the most St. Louis way ever. 25 hundred hundred hundred hundred hundred hundred hundred kissing kissing cockroroats
Starting point is 00:29:55 half a dollar now half a cockroaches are kissing each other that's good money she was doing this because she was money hungry and power hungry did you make power a one silver she's part she's power she's power from the video that our friend took in kansas city but he was like a local no almost he was this in kansas city in kansas city in the 1980s, our friend who's... We would send each other videos back to them. Before YouTube. And he made a video interviewing
Starting point is 00:30:24 people is like, what do you think about... Like a VHS? Yep, like Robin Givens. What do you think of Robin Givens? And Mike Tyson. And there was a kid at Alameda Plaza, which is just a bunch of fountains in front of Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:30:34 He's like, I don't like her. It's like, why don't you like her? It's like, she's money hungry and par hungry. Pahr hungry. Anyway. So you say 50,000, you say that. You said 100. He said, everyone's power.
Starting point is 00:30:47 He said 200. Some level, even if it's over their own life. He snakes are cock hungry. Yeah, cock hungry. So get your answer's in and we'll find out what Dan's got on the other side of this little breaky break. Ray Flames. And the name of the special that they should check out is.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Inside dogs versus outside dogs. Great. Or young grandpa. No one's ever broken it down like that before. 100,000 cockroaches. What? He was trying to bring in this place. You can't bring that in.
Starting point is 00:31:17 My guess is he probably forgot a pair of shoes he wanted to bring on the thing too. It's like, you know how like you're packing for a trip and you're like, oh my God. There's a pool at the hotel that I forgot to bring a swimsuit. I hate it. He definitely forgot to bring stuff in order to pack all these. He packed me in Ziplog bags. I don't know why I packed my thing. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:36 All right. All right. All right. And I do believe that Rafe Williams could play the cockroach breeder. Yeah. Australian cockroach. If you don't write a movie where you play. What was the name?
Starting point is 00:31:46 The brown horse breeder? Brent. The bathurst. The bath-ass-braida. I'm the bath-ass-braided. Honestly, it would be the first time I, I think it would be the first time I wouldn't have to do it taped. Yeah, exactly. They would just be like, I'd know what it was like to be Hugh Jackman. He's offer only on all cockroach breeders.
Starting point is 00:32:00 I agreed. I think it'd be the first time I felt like Hugh Jackman. They'd be like, this was, we wrote this for you. Otherwise, it has no legs. It's not the Tiger King, it's the Tiger Prince. There you go. There it is. That's sort of two down the books.
Starting point is 00:32:10 Daniel, we will find out what you have going on after the break. Ray Williams is with us. It's a dumb people town. Stick around. Make us down, hunger down It's dumb people town Hey guys, welcome back to the Shizzo Daniel, I know you have some really exciting stuff coming up
Starting point is 00:32:25 That rave might be a part of Maybe, let's talk about it. August, I am doing it for you. End of the month, you're doing the comedy festival in Cincinnati. Yes. Look at me. And then the next weekend just added
Starting point is 00:32:37 September 5th Labor Day weekend. I'll be in Phoenix. Hey now. And I just added Fayetteville, Arkansas. Fun. And then also Cohasset, Massachusetts. Oh, yeah. And everything's at Daniel Vancouver, I'm Charlotte.
Starting point is 00:32:48 And I'm putting together right now. Dates aren't locked in yet. Me doing a little like following the Bears away game schedule. Or I go to those cities and do some of Chicago. That's going to be fun. You're going to just go out there. You're going to have fun. You're going to love that.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I can't wait. Are you guys ready for this? Yeah. Story three. Comes from many people in Rochelle, Illinois. I experienced this when I was just home. This is your story about your life? Over the past.
Starting point is 00:33:15 Sent him by who? you, Dan? And through the mobile mobile gas station, this is a Rochelle Pulp Fiction chapter. So I am driving back from the cabin. I'm on the phone with Diane.
Starting point is 00:33:28 You don't need this. No, because it's just happened. Oh my God. My mom is on the phone with me talking to Diane. She goes, you're never going to guess where someone got in a fight
Starting point is 00:33:39 today. Words that my mom has never said. And I said, First Presbyterian Church. That was your first guest? She said no. Burlington Co Factory Parkinline. You think we have one of those in Rochelle?
Starting point is 00:33:50 I don't know. We're not bougie. Come on. So then I go. Country school. My favorite fast food place next door to the McDonald's. McDonald's thought that we're going to put country school out of business. Country School.
Starting point is 00:33:59 We make two good fried. Nice try, bitch. I thought country school would be a school. No, dude. Country School is a great little fast food. They have country fried steak. Just went there and I'm sure they did. Chicken fried.
Starting point is 00:34:08 I just went there and got a perch dinner for rosemary. Last time I was back. Perch. Have you ever had chicken fried chicken? Yes. Shouldn't that just be fried chicken? Yes. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:34:18 Kind of sounds like the second lead role I would get without auditioning. Country school. College School law. Professor Twang. Where did Raif go to college? She goes, no, you're never going to guess. I said, fine, inside your own house. She goes, nope, it's a place you'd never think anybody would get in a fight.
Starting point is 00:34:34 And I said, the overpass. And she said, yes. You got it in three guesses. Fourth guess. If that was a wordal, you would have succeeded. She said that there was a fight at the overpass. Now, is the overpass a fast food restaurant next to the country? Two or three major railways go through like Rochel.
Starting point is 00:34:53 It's like a big thing for train nerds. They come from all over the world to like see these train tracks intersect. Sure. And there's only one way to get across town of north side to south side. You'd have to wait for trains. Well, eventually in the early 80s, they built the overpass. Sure. Wait, people come from all over the world to see where these trains intersect.
Starting point is 00:35:11 There's only like three places where these major railways intersect. sect in the country? Are these people on a certain spectrum that come? So it's two types of people. Talking to a guy who's into sports car. This is my theory that I, I posited last night on stage. It's two types of things. I think all Nazis are autistic
Starting point is 00:35:26 because autistic people and Nazis love one thing. Numbers. Okay. Numbers and trains. So. The show with David Krumhol? So she goes, people got in a fight. Some guy got beat up really bad at the overpass.
Starting point is 00:35:40 I go over what? She said. Some guy got beat up. Some guys. I got beat up really bad is what you say in seventh grade. And she says, I don't know. And I said, mom, you can't tell me there's a fight at the overpass. Without having more details.
Starting point is 00:35:55 I don't know. So now, flash forward, it's the pre-family reunion party. How did that information get to her? She heard it on the scanner and then other people in town. I wanted to get to that. I was like, where did this information come from? By the way, because people in small town, Illinois love the scanner. The police scanner.
Starting point is 00:36:13 Well, because in my family, everybody has one because my cousin is a fireman. So they want to know when Kenny's getting called out to like a full fill. She's getting too much information. She's getting too much. In a small time. Too little information. The police scanner is like a crime version of Facebook marketplace. Oh, do you know the amount of times? My mom will ask me something from across like the house or she's in the kitchen and living room.
Starting point is 00:36:36 And I go, I don't know. I couldn't hear you over the police scanner we have on. Well, I had a cousin who would tell you he was a volunteer fireman. I'd be like, you are. and he goes, well, I listen to the scanner, and then I just go where they are. And I, like, in his volunteer reporter. His volunteer was, he would listen for the fires and then just drive to where they were and be like,
Starting point is 00:36:53 let me see this. We need an extra set of hands on this. We got a bucket. He just, uh, so flash forward to the pre-family reunion party. Everybody's having good cocktail. Yeah, because we just had our 84th annual family reunion. We started it in 1943.
Starting point is 00:37:08 I wasn't around. Nope, that's the rumor. It's amazing. So the night before is the pre-factor. fan party and that's that's when you drink and play cards and hang out in the garage and it's like skinksgiving it's so much so much so cub is stanksgiving somebody says do you hear about the fight at the overpass and i said that's all anybody's talking about right is the fight at the overpass what happened and one of my cousins goes huh i'll tell you what i heard now it's everything i'm about to tell you
Starting point is 00:37:41 I can't verify if it's true or not. This is what your cousin says. This is the small town news network. But this is, speak those lives. This is what I've been told is the story. From whom? The guy at Casey's.
Starting point is 00:37:54 So, working to register at a Casey's general store because that's all that's got to be. Casey's, there is a Casey's. Of course, sir. It's right next to the Quickstar.
Starting point is 00:38:01 I'm a quick star man. Yeah. This is what I heard. In Rockford, Illinois, about 25 miles north is where our story truly begins. We know Rockford. You're a mobile gas station.
Starting point is 00:38:11 There's a guy outside the mother band station, and he sees three men abduct, in his definition, abduct a woman and put her in a car and then drive off. So then he decides, I'm going to be a hero. That's right. He does not have a car. He does not even have a driver's license. He then goes and commandeers a woman's car. So he steals a...
Starting point is 00:38:40 It holds up a slice of cheese, says, I'm a cheese cop. You get out of the car. I need your car to save this woman. Steels her car. Oh, God. And then goes on a minimum 25 mile chase. High speed. Following these guys who he believes has kidnapped a woman.
Starting point is 00:38:59 This guy is now in the volunteer CSI department. Yeah. Rockford is north of town. They are on the south side of town. They are going up over the overpass. And this is when our hero makes his move. Clips him. He drives around to the front and perpendiculars his car to there so they can't get over. And this is all happening at the top of the overpass.
Starting point is 00:39:16 And I know some of this because my cousin and his wife are at the bottom of the overpass at a stoplight watching this unfold. So then he gets out. First-hand knowledge. He goes running over to the car to save the woman, flies open the door, no woman in the car. What? She was a ghost. The guys. No woman, no cry.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Say, we're not kidnappers. And we're so offended by that. going to beat you up. So they start beating this guy up on the top of the overpass. Sure. Wow. Yeah. They then decide, we got to throw him off the side of the overpass. That's right. Smart. So they take him to the west side of the overpass. This is where I tell all of you that on the west side of the overpass, right around the midsection of the overpass, it overlooks Spring Lake family public pool. So it's filled with kids and families watching this. This all unfolds as they're beating up the sky and then dragging him over to try and throw him off.
Starting point is 00:40:16 It's like the White House President birthday celebration. Your dad from the first story is like, this is what happens when you don't do your homework. Yeah. You're thrown off the over pass. You want to not get out of the pool? I've told you twice we're leaving. I'll throw you over the. You cramp up.
Starting point is 00:40:30 You go off the overpast. As they drag him over to the edge, this is when the cops show up. And the cops go, hey, hey, don't throw them. I'm sure in a very calm demeanor say, don't do that. him over the overpass. So they relinquish him. And then the cops arrest the three guys and take our wannabe hero who stole home his car to the hospital. So now they're booking the three guys into the hospital and another guy shows up and says, hey, somebody stole my sister's car. I tracked it here. I'm going to beat their ass. I want this car. And the cops go, that ain't happening. This was
Starting point is 00:41:06 just involved in a major crime scene where a woman made. or may not have been kidnapped. Yeah. No woman to be found, no reports. And then reports come in that a woman might have been dropped off or thrown out of the car at another mobile gas station. Oh, my God. Hey, brand loyalty.
Starting point is 00:41:24 It's fine. You're a mobile guy. Yeah, you know, I'm a quick star, quick trip guy. Maybe they have a mobile card. Yeah, and they were like, so they drive her off. As of this recording. Well, if the Cubs scored four or more runs in an inning, you get a free drink. There you go.
Starting point is 00:41:37 A free drink. So then Fred. A friend of one of my family members is a Rochelle police officer. So she shows up to just like stop by the family union and say hi, she's off duty. You were like, hey, what's with that fight on the other people? No, I loudly go. I tell you guys, I saw some woman running in south towards Mendota today on 251. She goes, are you shitting me right now?
Starting point is 00:41:56 And I go, no, I didn't. She goes, oh, my God. I thought I was going to have to leave here immediately. I go, what's the deal with the woman? And they go, we don't know. There was reports that there was a woman in that car at some point. But as of this recording, I don't know how much of any of that is true. I bet none of it is true.
Starting point is 00:42:15 Well, he definitely stole a car and chased these two dudes for kidnapping a woman. Right. But was there ever a woman? Did the woman get dropped off? So here's the thing. At any point, did he lose contact with them? Yes, they were already driven far away. How did he then get contact with this?
Starting point is 00:42:30 You don't know if they dropped. Eventually he caught up. So he did, he finished his task. It just there may have been no task to ever do. Interesting. This is the most talked about thing in Rochelle right now. I understand. There's no end.
Starting point is 00:42:43 And I will get answers to some mystery. Yeah. Well, it's my new podcast. It's called the overback. It's called the overpass. It's like a staircase. And I'm an advocate of swamp justice. Always have been.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Sure. Zand's like, how old was the girl? We're like, we don't know. Nobody knows. It does seem in this man's defense, in this volunteer, CSI cheese cop's defense. Yes. Throwing him off the overpass seemed like a little bit of an
Starting point is 00:43:07 overcorrection for just lobbying an accusation that's a hundred percent agree so if by that logic it seems like they were trying to eliminate any witnesses of a crime that supposedly didn't exist right so I'm thinking I still have a minus 200 odds that at some point drugs are going to come to be involved in this story absolutely everybody's hiding something yes
Starting point is 00:43:30 including your cousins who told this story and the guy who came to get his sister's he came to get his sister's car I love so if I get more answers I will tell you guys But I had to share the Rochelle. I might buy a Scanner. Can I buy a Rochelle scanner? What's the other?
Starting point is 00:43:44 If you could get a scanner, okay, a police scanner, and literally tune it to whatever channel you want. There's apps to do it. All right. All right. There you go. That is the show, you guys. The great Rafe Williams. We love you so much.
Starting point is 00:43:58 Thanks for support. We wish you to do Inside Dogs versus Outside Dogs. That's a special. Follow us. Young Grandpa. Do punchup. Live. Dano Vancirk.
Starting point is 00:44:06 We love you. Fly over Comedy Festival. Live for Comic Fest. And oh, snap, we've got to get back to work. Peace.
