Insight with Chris Van Vliet - PASSION Is The SECRET SAUCE Of Life - What Are You Going To Add It To?
Episode Date: October 29, 2021Today's episode is just me and you talking about my favorite topic of all time: passion. A question that I like to ask when I first meet someone is: "what juices you?" "what drives you?" "what EXCIT...ES you?". I think their answer says a lot about a person. What are you passionate about? Passion is the secret sauce of life. Sprinkle some passion on anything and BAM it immediately gets taken to the next level. If you're passionate about your job, all of a sudden it doesn't feel so much like a job anymore. Throw some passion into a relationship, especially one that may have plateaued.... and oh man, you better hang on if you know what I mean. Starting today, start putting some of that secret sauce on your life! If you enjoyed this episode, could I ask you to please consider leaving a short review on Apple Podcast/iTunes? It takes less than a minute and makes a huge difference in helping to spread the word about the show and also to convince some hard-to-get guests. All systems are going.
Ladies and gentlemen, Chris Van Blitz!
Here we go, my friends.
Welcome back to another audio adventure on Insight.
I'm Chris Van Bleet.
Thank you so much for being with us for another solo episode.
You know, and I say this with great love and great respect for all of the guests that I've had.
But these kind of podcast episodes are my favorite kind, because you and I get to hang out.
one on one like this.
And based on the amazing feedback that we got from our last one,
which was the What Are You Waiting for episode,
seems you guys really enjoy these too.
So it only makes sense that we start doing these maybe a little more often.
I don't have a schedule for it.
Maybe it's twice a month.
Maybe it's once a week.
I don't know.
You let me know.
And don't worry, don't worry.
The interviews aren't going anywhere.
but I just love the opportunity to hang out with you one-on-one like this.
So if there's something that you want to hear, send me a message, either on Twitter or Instagram.
I'm at Chris Van Fleet or shoot me an email, CVV at chrisfanfleet.com.
And make sure that you're subscribed to the show so you don't miss out on any future episodes of insight.
And we're also going to start recording some episodes from our gorgeous, brand-new, blue-wire studios inside the Wynn Hotel.
It's unbelievable.
And if you live in Vegas or you happen to be visiting Vegas, check it out.
It's inside the lobby of the win.
I mean, I can kind of describe it to you.
I can tell you it looks amazing.
I can tell you it looks beautiful.
But wait until you see the photos and wait until you see the videos of the episodes that we have there
because this is, it's next level.
And it's going to take the show to the next level.
And you're coming along with me on this.
By the way, if you're listening on Apple Podcasts, you've heard me and a lot of other podcasters
talk about reviews.
And yes, yes, they are very important.
They're that important.
And if we're going to get to that next level, as many subscribers and reviews as we can get
is really going to help us get there.
So that's the metric that they look at.
They look at the new subscribers.
They look at the reviews.
And then they look at the downloads from there.
And it's because of you that Insight is always in the top 10 or the top 20 of all.
shows worldwide. I can't even tell you how much I appreciate you for that. And I appreciate people
like our fan of the week, Layla Modkins, who says five stars. My new favorite show, totally worth
a listen. It's exactly what I was looking for. Greatest podcast ever. I don't know about that last
part, but thank you so much. And thank you not only for listening, but for also taking a few
extra seconds to scroll down on the show, click those five stars, and to leave a review. I read
one out on every episode. So if you want a shout out, that's all you have to do. And if you've left
a review in the past, go into that review, change another word or two, add your name, because
sometimes you have usernames that are nothing like your actual name. Add your name, and we'll shout
you out. So if you haven't noticed, I like to ask a lot of questions. It's kind of part of
my job, but I'm also just a naturally curious person. Always has been. And I feel that Tony Robbins
absolutely nailed it when he said the quality of your life is a direct result of the quality
of the questions that you ask. Man, perhaps we should do a future episode on that. The quality
of your life is a direct result of the quality of the questions that you ask. Think about it.
Everything in your life that you either have or you don't have is result, is the result of a
conversation that you had with somebody or didn't have with somebody. If you don't ask,
the answer is always going to be no. So a question that I like to ask people when I first meet
them is, what juices you, what drives you, what excites you? And I think their answer
says a lot about that person. And I'm sure you're thinking right now, oh, man, what juices me?
What excites me? Man, what am I passionate about? Well, what are you passionate about? Passion
is the secret sauce of life.
Sprinkle some passion on anything,
and bam, it immediately gets taken to that next level.
If you're passionate about your job,
all of a sudden, it doesn't feel so much like a job anymore.
Throw some passion into a relationship,
especially one that may have, you know,
kind of plateaued a little bit, and, oh, baby,
you better hang on for that, mm, that passion.
You know what I mean?
But there's so many people who are living with zero passion for anything.
Perhaps that's you.
Perhaps I'm speaking directly to you.
So many people live with no passion for anything.
I love this quote from Helen Keller, who famously said,
life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.
Or nothing at all.
In other words, if you're not on this daring adventure that life has for you, you're not even living.
Now, I'm not saying that you need to go out and quit your job, start filling your day with the thing that you love.
What I am saying, though, is you need to start being more intentional about doing things in your life that light you up.
If you love art, make some time every single day, even if it's just five minutes, to start drawing or start painting.
If you love baseball, why has it been so long since you threw a baseball?
Why has it been so long since you played in a league?
If you love comedy, man, start writing down some material without telling anyone, go on stage,
do an open mic, inject some of that passion into your life.
Start feeding some of those things that make you feel so good when you do them.
Those are the things that put a smile in your face.
No matter what's going on in your day,
it's always going to light you up.
Now I know what you're going to say.
You're going to say, oh, but CVV, I don't have time for that.
Really?
Really.
But you have time to watch all nine episodes of Squid Game, right?
Hmm.
For all the I'm too busy people out there, by the way,
have you ever done a time audit of your day?
You know, a lot of people say that they work 10, 12, 15 hours in a day,
but if you were to really sit down and actually write out what you do,
each day, like in five-minute chunks, I bet we'd find out that you got a whole lot of free time
where you're actually just scrolling on social media or sending stupid memes to your buddy.
Nothing against stupid memes.
I like him.
I'm just saying.
Stop pretending you're so busy and you don't have time for the things that really light you up.
Want to start living a better life?
Just add some passion to it.
It's that simple.
It really is.
And if you don't know exactly what you're passionate about,
start leaning into the things that make you happy.
Like really happy.
Start doing more of the things that get you juiced.
Passion is the secret sauce of life.

you. Let me know what lights you up. I hope there's something in here that resonated with you
and it's going to help you take some action today. Take that first step. I know the first step is
always the hardest and that was the whole point of that last episode, the what the fuck are you
waiting for episode. After you take that first step, though, it's kind of like a snowball rolling down a
hill. So take that first step today towards that thing that lights you up, that thing that you're passionate
about. We've got so many more solo episodes like this to come. And
