00:00Investor's Edge with Gary Coltbaum.Straight talk about you and your money. Now from the BizTalk Studios, here is Gary Cultbaum. And welcome once again to Investors Edge.I'm Gary Coltbaum, your host.A thanks of being with us today.Glad you here, ladies and gentlemen.Happy that you are listening.
00:21It is October 19th, 2006.I believe today was the anniversary of the 87 crash.Yeah, I think it was on the 19th.I just realized that, as I said, October 19th.Do you know where I was?I was in Albuquerque, New Mexico, running an office, know nothing about the market. That night, I was so scared out of my wits.
00:51I went to a bookstore and got a book called The Great Depression of the 1990sby somebody by the name of Ravi Batra.and I read the bookand if I tell youhe scared the living crap out of methat the end of the world was comingand of coursehe wasn't exactly right
01:14but I still remember that daylike it was yesterday I know exactly where I wasthe screens and everythingthat rated a big wowand let's hope that never happens againand I bring that up I willwe'll do introductions in a secondthis weekend was one of these weekends where, and just so you know, I'm not on Instagram.
01:43I have an Instagram account, but I'm not on there.I don't post. But I'm on Twitter, X.And things show up when you do markets, you see things, markets. There were just dozens of people calling for a crash today.and I'm like, well, when everybody's calling for a crash, it ain't happening, and probably the opposite will happen. And also, I have to mention nothing. You ever heard of the Drudge Report?
02:15It's a website by this guy Matt Drudge with tons of people that go to it.And all he does is he posts articles based on what he thinks should be posts. All day to day, the headlines.$10 trillion$1.000AI boomstarting to crack. It was on there yesterday.
02:49Now it's front and center. And I'm thinking about it.Wait a minute. The AI and the semistopped out in early summer.Dozens of stocks are down 30, 40, 50.There are some 60s and 70sin some names that have been touted like crazy.
03:13And I mean touted. If you watch what we watch and we watch, there are stocks that I'm just looking at one that has gone from 70 to 28.And it was highly touted. So I just put out a note this morning, wasn't last night, just letting you know, because when you get everybody, and when I say everybody, it's not everybody, but many, reporting crashes and end of the world type scenarios, after you've already had big drops,
03:55every now and then it means that you're about to get a little bit of a change off of that. We'll see. We'll keep you informed. You know where we've stood, you know where we stand, and we got lots to cover today. This is Investors' Edge, serious talk on everything that affects you.We do the markets, the economy, your job, your industry, two trillion dollar debts, massive deficits, excuse me, two trillion dollar deficits, massive debt.Let me get that right.
04:31We'll do the corruption in D.C., the insider trading, the elections, the elections, thecome up my thoughts on that today and I'll have some interesting thoughts on that. We're going to talkFrance. Have you seen that? But it's not just France. Italy, Albania, there's a lot of crap going onin those places. And we'll also going to do the financials. Stocks like Evercore, KKR, Apollo.others, private equity type companies will do that too. And of course, if you do not get thisradio show in your city, we will post it at garyk.com. We'll post it on our X feed where you shouldfollow us. Let's just put our name in. If you'd like to email us, you just got to be nice andrespectful because we'll be nice and respectful back. You completely disagree with everything
05:35I say. I can completely disagree with everything you say. Let's be respectful.about it. That's all. We'll be respectful as all hell. As long as you, again, did not rob a banktoday, beat somebody up, like Hamas, are a terrorist, and all that. So where do I want to start?Well, last week, the NASDAQ 100 dropped 1,600 points. It was a rough, rough week. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped 2,200 points in the last two weeks. And now they're coming out saying the end of the world's at hand with all these.Well, first off, we have been quite the bearish on these areas.Notwithstanding, we had a nice little rally.
06:50For two, three weeks in the socks, which had the NASDAQ, NASDAQ 100, and new high ground.Amazingly so.But as we told you, it was a select few.The advanced declines were terrible. The new highs versus new lows were terrible. And looks like now the big indices are catching up to the average stock, which have been terrible. But today, for whatever reason, well, overnight, overnight, I saw the NASDAQ was up 400.NASDAQ 100 was up 400.
07:32After dropping like 750 on Friday, and as we said last week, dropping 1696 points, that's a lot of points.Only one big issue. As you know, we read patterns of bull and bear markets.bullish phases, bearish phases, up trends and down trends, tops and bottoms, breakouts and breakdowns. On the open today, when we were up the highest during the day.And at one time today, the NASDAQ hit 26-613 up 475 points. That's the NASDAQ.
08:26At one time today, the Semiconductor. The semiconductor index at one time today was an 11550 was up 410 points.Strong days. But at the highs of the day, I furiously scanned 150 names. It looked like today a fly on an elephant's rear end. What that simply means is the bounce.was small compared to the drop.Simple as that.
09:08And I'm not so sure we're out of the woods just yet.And we'll give you the final numbers in a few minutes. But there's some other things that are sticking right now that I worry about.First and foremost, right now,Now, forget the AI and semis for a second. The financials, the banks, the investment banks, the brokerages, the private equity companies, the foreign banks that were acting so well for so long are acting terribly, bearishly. And I've always been a big believer before 2008.
10:00The financials were the number one thing we look at.but replaced by the semiconductors, but they still matter big time.As you know, back in 07, the worries 0708 was, what's wrong with the financials?Well, I'm asking again, what the hell is wrong with the financials? They are acting miserably.Up next, we'll expound un miserably. This is the one that will be Investors Edge.Hi, I'm Gary Kalbaum, hosted a nationally syndicated radio show Investors Edge.

12:09You're listening to.Hey, this promises to be fun.Investors Edge. The last bastion of quality programming. With Gary Coltbaum. It doesn't get better than this. So, for me, just one heck of a worrisome sign to see banks.and regional banks and S&Ls and brokerages and investment banks in bearish phases, in bare markets.
12:51Simple is that.Barish phases, bare markets.Trading below everything. Some at New Yearly lows. But when I say below everything, the 50-day moving average, the 200-day moving average, the 200-day moving average, the 200-day is the long-term moving average. And when I see Goldman Sachs break it and dive, break it badly, it's what's going on here.Simple as that.
13:25And when I see Schwab nearing New Yearly Lows, or Raymond James, just getting smoked, or Jeffries, today,America prize down $20 and breaking a big stair step to the downside. And then you have private equity, Evercore.Go look it up, EVR as the symbol.New Yearly Low.Investment banker, private equity, new yearly low.Colbert Kravis, KKR right there.Apollo, getting close, blackstone right near New Yearly Loads.
14:20So I just want to start it with that because for me, it's one hell of a sore thumb. And then foreign banks have been acting fine. They're crumbling. They're now crumbling, barclays, crumbling.Deutsche Bank.crumbling, new relative lows on all of them. UBS. How about Lloyd's banking? The Canadian banks were very strong. They're in bearish phases also. And I can go on and on. So I'm just letting you know, I keep hearing. And I do know this. Seasonality. The fourth quarter, especially in midterm elections are always good, who are most often are good.
15:21All I know is the market's action right now sucks.Sucks.And we were able to hide in the big indicesbecause of how narrow things wereand big stuff was doing the job.And by the way, some big stuff is helping todayand we'll get into that in a minute, but not much.
15:46So just write down the word financials, banks, brokers, investment banks.Your handsome and buffed toast is worried. And then transports, rails, truckers, airlines just acting pitifully.Rails truckers, airlines, rails truckers, airlines. And by the way, airlines, you should see what they're charging for flights right now.And guess what?Rails, truckers, airlines matter.Housing.
16:32I believe we're new yearly lows, if not close. We bounced up on Thursday, so we're not new yearly lows, but they've crumbled. And by the way, I can go on and on about the areas in bad shape.you know about auto dealers a lot of the retail though some retail is perked upAbercrombie and Fitch acts great abacrombian Fitch acts great if the market didn't suck so muchI'd be interested in it right now so let me give you an idea about today youopened hot as heck in the NASDAQ NASDAQ 100 the semis and the artificial intelligenceYou opened hot as heck, and it could not hold.
17:35Still up.Still up.But could not hold. When I tell you, the all-important semiconductors that have been rated hit a high of 11550 and finished at 11316.And this is after a big drop. Not great. When I tell you the NASDAQ today, it finished at 26430, but it was 26-613 at one time today. When I tell you, Corweave, Ground Zero around here, was upgraded today by Goldman Sachs.
18:30upgraded, hit a high of 6592 and closed at 61, and was actually down on the day.Catch in the drift? When I tell you, Dell, previous leader, right at the open was at 471 and closed at 455, hardly up.or AMD, that was another leader that is cracked.Near the open today was 554 and closed at 537.In other words, hot open, distributed. And the Dow actually finished down 35 points. The Dow was never strong today.
19:26Never strong. In fact, most Dow stocks were down today. We did hit 51, 52, 13, 4, so one time we're up 120.But you know, it's in the Dow?Goldman Sachs.J.P. Morgan was down six.And that chart looks terrible.Goldman Sachs was down almost six in the Dow.
19:54Oh, that's right, two financials. The two head honcho, top dog big cheeses.of financials.Wish we had better news.Abercrombie and Fitch.Abercrombie and Fitchwas up eight. That looked good. But not many others.
20:23Victoria's Secret was up. They had their show, right? Where they wear the wings?Hey, up next.France.Corruption. Elections.I'm Gary. This is the one only investors' edge.listening to America is talking.Investors Edge. He's got to be pleased with
21:17that. The crowd is just on his feethere. He's a Cinderella boy. With Gary Colbomb. It comes highly recommended. You're going to feel betterif you talk to him. Welcome once again toInvestors Edge. Earlyvoting starts in Floridatoday. I think when I'm done with the show, I'm going to go
21:46get it done. Yeah.Get done early.France.Italy, Albania, some of these others. So the media is lying out their asses, unfortunately, around the globe about what's going on in these areas. And all I can tell you that, number one, every one of these people should be arrested.I would arrest them for terrorism because that's what it is.governments of these countries better wake up
22:32or there's going to be more of itit's going to affect tourismover the holidays I was considering going to FranceI am no longerbecause the dude is not in controland blamed it on students that are disinfectedyes students that are disaffectedyes, they're going to go into an Apple store and just steal things and destroy things.
22:59They're going to meet a couple of elderly French people and take their clothes off.And of course, the media in Europe is hiding all the free Palestine and Palestine flags. And of course, the culprits are all wearing masks.I got news for them.If I was running the places this would not be happening.they better get tough there because, I don't know if you saw the videos. And I know they're blaming it on this group of people and that group of people and this group.I just put them all together, just criminals.
23:44Criminals.And we hope things get better there.Really do.Segwaying to our election, I have to tell you.and I knowthe ones that love Trumpare going to be upset with this statementbut you better realize this is what's going on
24:07President of the United StatesI was the President of the United Statesand I wanted my party to losethe election in the midtermsI'd be doing everything he's doingand saying everything he's been sayingthat's allhis social media posts
24:40our postsI want to use the wordsI want to respect the presidencyI don't even want to use the wordsyou ready for the latest this afternoonand I want you to think about somethingthe Republicans running for electionshere's the latest post
25:09New Mexico should immediately changeits name to New Americawe are not Mexicowe are the United States of Americathe name would add great value and prestige to the statehome values and incomes would riseand you would be even proud of while saluting our beautiful American flag.Maybe even the crooked elections that New Mexico is known for would become honest again.
25:30Let me just state for the record. That's insanity and loses more votes. And by the way, that's not the worst thing he posted today. And I want you to think about this. You're in for an election. What do you do with elections?Everything to win votes.and I just think what's happened is
25:52he's not up for election anymorehe don't give a crap about the partyoh yeah I know he's out there speakingand this and that but he likes being in front of peoplehave you watched his ralliesand they're not normaland as you know I think he's hurting the partywith the rallies
26:14he's putting down some of the candidates at the ralliesand let me add one more thing and we'll be doneWe've been right about everything about this election. We've been right about all the things that mattered, all the things that people are prioritizing, except one, because it wasn't asked. You ready?Former Trump chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, said that a recent stunning poll on corruption was voters' number.one concern on being asked, they're tired about the corruption by guess who? As I said to you,the question of corruption is going to become increasingly important to voters. As the
27:43president says, affordability is a con job while he and his family have made billions ofdollars. And may I state for the record? And I'd say it to the president in a not so up and upway. So we'll let you know our thoughts on the election have not changed. There are some thatbelieve 20 in the house will be lost. I think that's being nice. Except there is a caveat, the redistricting of some districts have helped the report.Republicans will see.But the Senate is the big matzab ball. And come at 50-50, which means the Republicans keep the Senate because the tie goes to the vice president.
28:45But let me state for the record, it's a tenuous.Notice the big word.a tenuous50-50as there's some close ones going onand the factthat some of these deep red statesare close
29:06which I think will end up staying redthe fact that they are closeyou die-hard Republicansworrywe're also hearingfrom the presidentIf the Republicans lose the House or the Senate or both, we will go into a depression. That is a lie in order for you to vote for them.
29:42Just like $5,000 he's going to give out, that is a lie.Won't happen no matter what. What you need to know is if the Democrats get the House, they can't do anything. They can propose legislation, but we'll never, ever go through.through. They can talk wealth taxes, this tax, that tax, this stupidity, that stupidity.Nothing will ever go through. Just letting you know, even if they have the Senate, nothing willever go through. There's something called the veto pen that is on the desk of the President of theUnited States. So I don't worry about any depression. We're all going to go to work every day,
30:24doing trying to do better for ourselves and our families regardless of the nightmare, which is that Democratic Party. And believe as much as I can't stand the Republicans, they are so weird on the Democrat side. And I'm not talking about you Democrats out there listening to the show.I'm talking about your leaders in Washington, D.C.And we take no joy in saying it.But the illogical stupidity.By the way, off money in the economy, I still am dumbfounded, dumbfounded of letting people that are physically men.
31:11They can call themselves whatever they want, be whatever they want, God bless them, but physically men being able to be in women's sports.Illogic. Makes no sense.Hey up nextNow what else is going on in the marketsAnd all thatI'm GaryThis is the one only Investor's EdgeYou're listening to
32:15What are we waiting forWell what are you waiting forOne twoReady goActionIn Investors EdgeWith Gary CulperFor having an opinion that's different than yours
32:46isticsFirst off my Giants lostBut the Eagles lostDanos lost also, so no blood.I believe Washington plays tonight. But I have to tell you, Jalen Hertz, the quarterback of the Eagles, they found blood clots on his lungs. So he's out for the season. He played with blood clots.
33:14We're hearing last week, which I cannot believe they allowed that. And I'm just wondering if his career's over.I remember Chris Bosch, the basketball player, Miami Heat.believe his career ended for blood clots also. That's a terrible story. Health is everything, ladies and gentlemen. Health is everything. And you know that when you start losing your goodhealth. So the NASDAQ finished up 290. NASDAQ 100 got 341 points back of the 1696 from last week, but you're ready for this?Advanced declines on the NASDAQ, 2,215 up, 2,610 down.
34:04Huh?Amazon was up 12.I saw news.I don't know why it was up 12 on the news that they reported, but it was up 12.Tesla was up 13.These are both top 10.Well, Amazon's top 7.I'm not sure if Tesla's top 7, but I think top 10.
34:25That helps big time.the NASDAQ and the NASDAQ 100.And Nvidia was up three.Google was up for.SK.K. Heine.Oh, SpaceX was up two.So Microsoft was up for.So you had that bigness again.
34:44While so many stocks way down. Not way down, just down.On the NASDAQ.On a day where the NASDAX's up $290 and up 341, NASDAQ 100,you should have 2,500 to 3,000 up.No, I take it back.3,200 up, 1,200 down. But the institution's default setting now is parking their carcass into that big stuff
35:23because they don't trust less. The NYSC, you ready? With the S&P up 31, with the S&P up 31 because of the tech, even though the Dow was down 36, you catch and may drift. And even though, well, the NYSC was down, advanced decline, 1714 up, 2861 down, that's miserable.New yearly lows, ready for this on the NASDAQ?That was strong today.I got 52 new yearly highs, 410 new yearly lows.On the New York, 49 highs, 190 lows.
36:17Now you're going to look good on a resume, kids.European markets weak.I'm looking for any light at the end of the tunnel.I don't have much, except it was an up day, but I'm not impressed.I wish I can say I was.So just be careful.By the way, volume very light today also.Lighter than the drop last week.
36:52Take your time.Leadership is hardly any.I mean, I can tell you, Apple's the other highs, and they're saying that the sales of their new phone is extraordinary.I can tell you about I mentioned Abercrombie and Fitch. You know what else?Stock looks okay.Wayfair.
37:15Looks like it wants to break out.eBay.tried breaking out but pulled back a little. So there's some names, but they're few and far between, and trust is low.So we're just taking our time here. We'll let you know if things get better. But on the artificial intelligence front, they opened them hot, and they sold them down.on the semiconductors was much higher early and finished poorly.
37:56So again, unimpressed. If anything changes, we'll let you know, but unimpressed.Foreign markets weak, so I'm unimpressed.thoughearning season right nowfour pages of earningsthis weeknext week I'll have
38:21I think 15 in the week after 15will be ready for anythingtomorrow 3M in the DowGMGEKorp or regionalhow about Philip Morriscigarettes
38:35after the closeCapital Oneoh after the close is Netflixwhose earnings have tanked. That'll be tomorrow. And what we do now is wake up a little earlier,go to sleep a little later, and pay attention to the reactions.
38:58Not just the news, the reactions to the news.Let's hope more people call for a crash. No, seriously.did not really help today. And again, bearish phases are when they open them hot and sell them down.Bullish phases is when they open them weak and they buy them up.Today, does not fit the bill, though, again, you got to bounce on the NASDAQ, NASDAQ 100,
39:33and the semis just not as strong as it could have been.we have absolutely no clue what happens tomorrow. We just know what the trend looks like right now. And, you know, it's less than thrilling.Be careful about the shouts, be careful about the touts, and be careful about the reiterations of buy recommendationsas something's dropping 20, 30, 40, 50, 60%.Have a great evening, drive carefully when you're,
40:12get home to like we do. Make sure you hug your family, hug your children, hug your pets.Have a great one, everybody. Until tomorrow, good night. This has been Investors Edge with Gary Cult Bomb on BizTalk. To listen to past episodes or to getin contact with Gary, go to GaryK.com. That's GaryK.com.
