00:36 Hello, sorry about to delayed a cord there at the beginning, but papers were flying off the thing. Hello again, friends, and you are our friends. We're picking up the papers and we're giving you the facts. Welcome back to another edition of Jim Coronet's Drive-Thru, the weekly variety show that you look forward to so much. I'm your host, The Great Brian Last. And here with me, of course, the man doing a lot of reviewing today. There's a lot of big things to talk about.
01:02 The leader of the cult of Cornett, Mr. Jim Cornett. Brian, you apologized for the first time that I actually got into the music and I sang along and I felt the spirit moved me. And you didn't pierce me through the jugular vein with that sharp F note that you usually play right there in the middle and then you apologize for it. See, I'm in a good mood today. I've had a morning of a puppy playtime with belly rubbing and puppy kissing and tug a warren and bone chewing.
01:42 And now I get a nice little serenade there. And you got to recognize when you just walk off from it. You just, you hit a home run. Just go on. I thought it was fairly good, except for the very, very beginning, because as soon as I hit it, papers just slowly started to slide off the organ on top of that one. And I had to catch them with one hand and continue. So that's what, okay, from now on,
02:06 only play your organ when you're catching flying papers with the other hand. I don't know if that's going to work. You know, let's change topics. Well, it did. The puppy tug-of-war, do you let them win? Well, no. See, I'm the referee. They do it with each other.
02:25 They tug a war with each other, and they pull back and forth. And it's like when they play ice hockey with the ice cube, if they get it stuck in a, like a crevice under the couch, I'm the referee. I have to get my hand under the. there and pop it back into the field of play. Are you more like a Rick Knox referee? Like they ignore you and just do what they're going to do anyway?
02:44 No, I enforce the rules strictly and I'm competent at what I do, unlike nuthead Knox. But the boys have an appointment, Brian. They've got their appointment. They're going to get adjusted. They're going to do. We're going to clip the little boboos. Really?
03:04 So early. Do you do it? I think with Swami, we waited a little longer. supposed to do it this early? Well, they say after six months is the time we've consulted with the veterinary professionals on this. And everybody says it's better for their health and their behaviorally. They are beginning. Say goodbye to the tug of war. Well, no, they still, they still, we had Harley fixed and she still engaged in spirited tugs of war and things. But they're, they're beginning to, because they're just, they're minors, and they don't really know what's going on,
03:40 and they're beginning to try to have improper variant relations with each other. Oh, boy, this is under too much information, I think. Well, we don't want to, we don't want that to. Well, there could be a variety of rambunctiousness going on. So, you know, you don't, it doesn't have to be just contained to that, but never the I thought you were going to say they were going to get groomed for the first time. No, they've already been there six months old. Do you think we haven't had them bathed at this point?
04:13 Time flies. I didn't know how long it's been. So does a smell. It whops through the air. And you can notice it long before six months comes around. All right. But it's cold. That's right.
04:29 It's cold. You and I had a conversation off the air the other day. And I said that you were, a little bit a little bit pussyfied for turning the heat on when you did you said well it got down in the 50s outside is well you weren't outside you're not heating the outside it's inside what was it inside and i'll have you know that i had to crack and turn one of the zones on here at the castle the other night it got down in the upper 30s outside of course i wasn't outside but it got to 65 Yeah, because your whole argument right there.
05:07 Well, no, but listen to me. But it got to 65 degrees in a TV room. And now when I was, I used to hold a grudge against turning the heat on in the wintertime. And needless waste of fuel, it's too early. It's October. But that's when I was young and fat. Now that I'm old and skinny, I get colder. And it got 65.
05:31 and I turned the heat on and I set it to 65, so it wouldn't go any lower. And the air can, the heat has not come on since then, but it's a stopgap measure. But it used to be 62 degrees, and I'd say, well, all right. What does Stacy say? Now it's Niffy.
05:56 What does Stacy say? Well, Stacy has a different, see I control here it is yeah well no I control the thermostats in the TV room and in the office and vault and she controls the thermostats in the studio the porch dining area and the other end of the house and what are they set to so well it depends
06:24 because now I used to freeze her out but then the worm is turned because she likes fall weather and she will turn everything off and crack the damn window and crack a couple of windows and and i will walk in there i'll go isn't it nippy it here do you know it's fresh air so it'll be like 65 but there's no fucking heat or air on it's just it's it's it's the god it's nature taking its course so what you're talking about but in the in the in the far end of the house we keep it like usually 70 degrees winter or summer. Okay.
07:00 But I like the TV room cool in the in the summertime and a little bit warmer in the wintertime because I'm sitting in there and then up here in the office I hate to turn the heat on up here. So I'm wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants and I got my hands stuck in my pockets.
07:23 All right. You don't sound like a serial killer at all. So let me ask you this. You said, I think this all began with you just finally gave in and put the heat on. Yes. And set it to a ridiculously low number, but we'll get past that. What about Stacey's end of the house? Are you counting that in, or has she already been putting the heat on for the last few weeks?
07:44 No, well, no, because see, the other, it's been, truthfully, it's so well insulated that I think it got down to 68 or whatever, but we didn't really notice. I heard your house is so well insulated You can't even open the doors Oh quit now That's another issue completely We won't go there right now But nevertheless
08:09 Ashole No since I got that spray foam insulation now I'm telling you we got the spray foam In the attic spaces and then the crawl space And everything that into the house Even though it was in the upper 30s out here in the woods. It, it, I think got like 67, 68, and that's at night.
08:31 You're covered up. Whatever the case. Are you looking forward to having the puppies in snow? I don't know how that is. Harley loved it. I don't know what they're going to think because Harley just from the start would just go and burrow her nose in a little trench through the snow and just have so much fun. She looked like Pacino and Scarface.
08:57 All right. well, let's take it to the limit. And the limit being wrestling talk here. What the fuck are you? What? The song from Scarface. You got me thinking to the song from Scarface. Oh, that made me think of the Eagles.
09:11 I'm like, they didn't snort that much cocaine. Well, I guess they did. Glenn Fry, yeah. Maybe they did. John Henley. Everyone forgets about when Don Henley, like, what was it, like two underage girls were found OD'd in his house. But he wasn't even there.
09:25 No, he was there. He was the one who gave him the drugs. Oh. And then, you know, he did what you could do back then. He just put out a big record a few years later and everyone just moved on, but that's crazy. Who was it that something happened, but they weren't actually in the house, but it was their house that I'm thinking of in the Hollywood. Oh.
09:45 Well, you know what I'm trying to. Well, the Manson murders were at the house of Terry Melcher and he lived there with Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere and Reuters. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I know that that was the reason why Manson targeted the house was because he had been there for Terry Meltcher trying to get him to produce his record and he just happened upon all these other. Poor Voitek Frikowski did nothing. But no, there was some incident that happened in Hollywood with a rock and roll star or a movie star where it was in their home, but they weren't even there. But maybe it was Davey Boy Smith.
10:25 That's always a weird one though. There was a big, you know, mass murder. There's an OD, just a simple one. There's an OD in a house of this famous person, but they weren't home. So the next question is, who is this person? What are they doing there? How big is this home? Do they know who else is there?
10:42 See, these people, they got so much money, they got houses so big. Other people live in them. They don't even never run into them. See, that would be a fucking day. Just go find Elon Musk's house and just live in the north side of it. he'll never find you. Do you know who Terry Meltra's girlfriend was back then? That was, God damn it.
11:05 Oh, shit. Well, did Doris approve of her? Doris Day was his mother. I can't remember who his girlfriend was. I don't know. It was Candice Bergen. Candice Bergen, son of a gun. And then later on, she started going out with Murphy Brown.
11:23 No, she was Murphy Brown. she had a sex change Murphy Brown was a woman Oh It was a very popular show on CBS for many years I'm always thinking Every time I think of a guy named Murphy I think of some fat fucking cop
11:37 With a big nose or something Hey Murphy No Murphy Brown was a female Newscaster Oh well A show should have done better They should have given it a chance It would have found an audience sooner or later
11:51 It was a pretty big show Very much in the news at the time when she was pregnant as a single woman. That was a bigster. Dan Quail went after her, if you remember. I didn't think Dan Quail liked girls. Well, I don't know what he likes. I know he can't spell potato, but Jim, this show is just off the way.
12:11 How do we recover here today? Hey, boy. Hey, I'll tell you what. The Christmas sale at Cornett's Collectibles has hit a first ever milestone. Can I tell you about this? because, you know, normally, you know, we get slammed and the folks know every year initially you get your order locked in, so if anything sells out, you've got it,

13:25 fingered son of a bitch but he is going to be over the next couple of weeks shipping all this shit and we're going to be able to stay up to a seven to 14 day turnaround from here I believe till Christmas so a big milestone at cornet's collectibles so order with impunity ladies and gentlemen while they last and on the experience that's my show coming up in a couple of days i'm going to give people numbers on exactly what is left on everything so you'll know whether to panic or not but go now jim cornet dot com click on collectibles feast your eyes and fantasize at the quality merchandise the amazing collectibles and the low low prices jim cornet. dot com. 14:32 from Jim Cornett. Jim cornet.com. That's right. We are low. On Luthes is almost run out of hookers. We're low on hooker, baby. So if you're wanting to hear, Thess's exploits in the squared circle, of course, with his autobiography hooker,
14:51 the time has come. That's right. Stay tuned next year for the big deal on the Joe Stecker book, BDSM. It doesn't mean what you think, folks. It's a wrestling term. Let's move on here with this. I also, I'm thinking of the story that old, you well did you
15:14 would have never met him I don't think he might have died when you were three or whatever but old Wally Dusick I never met Wally Dusick no well exactly it was 90 when we knew him in Charlotte 40 years ago or whatever but I always think of the story that I'll never be able to tell
15:30 on the podcast or YouTube that he told us of his times barnstorming wrestling in the 19 what was it teens or 20s in in the Yukon and a lady of the lady of the evening.
15:45 Actually, probably just a lady of ill repute. They go months without having an evening up there that he encountered. And it's a great story that I just thought of from the same era that Thes was active into business. I'll tell it to you off the year one of these days. Here's a great story I thought of, but I'm not going to tell any of you,
16:06 but I'll keep giving you more details to tease you. Yeah, but there's no way you can tell this kind of shit these days. I could tell it. The punchline, and then Captain Frank Dusick was born. No, no, this was way before Frank, but it had to do with something that he mistakenly put in his mouth, but we'll just go no further. Boy, uh, balls getting cut off and now this, this show is just a very special edition here today. Kim, we have a lot to talk about, a lot to review. And why is it taking us so long to get to it? English is not working well or coming easy today. but there's a lot to talk about this AEW pay-per-view
16:44 ended up having a few things more than I thought it would be for you to talk about, so there'll be some things. Why don't we start with a clip that a lot of listeners have sent over because it concerns a topic that was a big topic here on this show. Brawl out. It's been years now, but CM Punk, wrestling in Chicago for AEW has a press conference goes after the EVPs.
17:10 they would do shit behind the scenes. He did it right in front of the cameras. They storm his dressing room with the head of legal and Christopher Daniels and Kenny Omega. And he beats the shit out of the elite. And they kidnap his dog and run away. No, to be, to be fair, he only actually beat the shit out of who was it, Matt.
17:35 He beat the shit out of Matt. and A. Steele whacked somebody with a chair. He whacked Nick with a chair. He whacked Nick with chair. I think Kenny tried the face lock him and he bit Kenny and then Kenny helped mega steal the dog. This is all going to be on my new sitcom. Here's the thing.
17:55 I'm just thinking back to this. It's amazing that Kenny was in an altercation with a dog and the dog's not the one that bit him. But yeah, once he got bit, he said, well, let me just save the dog. And he and Megan, is she the sister of Megan Brain? No. But they got the dog.
18:16 Not even the same first name. Different first name, different last name, no relation. Otherwise, there could be a relation. But nevertheless, it was a big hoop-de-do at the time, a brouhaha, a who shot John, type of situation, if you will. Or a big show for Lucy, however you want to see it. But this happened a long time ago. You know, everyone's kind of moved on at this point.
18:39 AEW is where they are, and their fans are happy, and they've kind of gotten past a lot of the negative vibes from that era. Punk seems to be the happiest he's ever been in WWE. And is making even more of a fortune than Tony Kahn was paying? He's making a ton of money, and again, he seems really happy, and he's doing the things and the projects he wants to do. But we still don't hear a lot of other voices from AEW talk about that period of time. Billy Gunn was, I guess, just over in England and did a tour or did a show, however it works with Inside the Ropes, your buddy, Kenny McIntock.
19:15 Oh, hello, Kenny, Kenny Mack. And this came up, and it's not too much audio, it's a few minutes, but let me play it for you and get your thoughts on Billy Gunn. His take on everything to happen with CM Punk. It's going to start with him talking about being in the building when Punk returned. Remember Rampage? Remember Rampage? something to show they used to have on Friday? Yes.
19:38 Yes. Didn't they do like a million fucking viewers on a show that was later canceled for lack of viewership? And it still probably is one of the best episodes of any AEW TV show ever just because it was such a special moment. But let's go to Billy Gunn here and we'll talk about this along the way. I mean, you mentioned last night that there's like moments in AEW where you've went out into the crowd to watch like stuff happen.
20:02 So that, I mean, that's kind of like a ringing endorsement, right? if you're going out there to watch stuff and you've seen all this stuff before. Yeah, because it's been a while since I've heard, and what we're talking about is punk's debut. Is I knew it was going to be hot. I knew it was going to be electric. And there's like when you, when you've, like I've been in there with the, like I've been in there and heard some of the most monster pops of all of wrestling. Hogan, Steve, when he was super hot, rock, all of them. and there's still nothing that's better than that.
20:36 You all, like, I always want to be in the building because it's almost like it all crashes down on you at once. And it's just such, it's such a feeling. It's an awesome feeling. So I didn't, like, when that happened, I wanted to be out. Can I jump in for a second and just say, he's exactly right. And by the way, that is Kenny McIntosh asking the questions. And don't feel bad for Kenny.
21:02 He hasn't had a stroke. He actually, the people talk like that over there where he's from in, in Scotland. He was talking fine. What are you talking about? But no, he's just, you know, but nevertheless. But no, but that's what I miss about wrestling is the, and the moments come every once in a while now, but they used to come a lot more when the people just completely blow their shit at the same time and there's 10 or 15 or 20,000 of them.
21:38 And they're just screaming and jumping the babies in the air. That's what hooks you about, whether it's the baby face is big comeback and he's bleeding and he's fighting or it's the goddamn return of the hero or it's the fucking changing of the title or whatever it was. That bat shit response, the last time it regularly happened was the attitude era. When they had so many of them, and people got tired of everything. But go ahead.
22:10 Let's go back to this. Inside the Ropes, Kenny McIntosh with Billy Gunn. Out there, because I hadn't heard it in a long time. I mean, it's nothing against anybody. And people get pops, but they don't get that kind of pop. Plus, he'd been gone for so long that I knew it was going to be just insane. And it was. It just made my hair stand up.
22:30 It was so loud. I do have to. You're probably going to make fun of me for asking you this question, but I'm just going to ask it anyway. So punk debuts, 2021, and then, you know, there's these, like, nights in wrestling that people kind of talk about in Montreal,
22:43 and all out 2020 is one that people talk about where punk does the press conference, then there's a thing backstage. You're in AEW at that point. Are you sort of seeing this stuff that's going on? Are you, like, what are we going to do? Like, how are you as an AEW coach? So I wasn't around for that,
22:57 and I don't want any of that media stuff. It's got nothing to do with me. It's just whatever. Like, it's for them to talk or whatever. So I knew the incident that happened back in the thing, which was what it was. And they just have to realize that sometimes there's certain veterans that just aren't going to put up with that shit no matter what. Right. And if you're a young little buckaroo and you want to poke the bear, get ready to get bit. And so I think that's what happened. And I don't know the whole details that's between them.
23:33 and then, you know, of course, the media thing that I don't watch because it's got nothing to do with me either. Because it feels like back in the back in... Well, let me stop it there before Kenny McIntosh goes on. What are your thoughts on that? Well, I mean, what else can you say? That's what... Unless you were in the camp of the young little buckaroos
23:55 and not the, you know, generation or mindset of the veterans that don't take bullshit, for those people, Billy Gunn, myself, whatever, it was no surprise whatsoever, because that's kind of shit that fucking happens. But do you think the defender... The bear poakers were not aware of that. They hadn't poked the right bear yet.
24:18 Do you think the defenders of the Young Buck's behavior throughout this whole thing, do you think that they're unaware at how clickish these guys are? You know, Sean Michaels and that click gets all the attention and they were out there doing drugs and all sorts of shit. Yeah, well, and also they were good. This is a thing, but this is a clear.
24:36 They were good. They were good at manipulation and good at political maneuvering and fucking on a, they were on the big stage and the biggest stage instead of these fucking, you know, amateurs playing with Richie Rich. But they only wanted to play with their friends. They didn't want to wrestle Bam Bam Bigelow. They wanted to wrestle each other. They only wanted to help out each other and help out their chosen guys.
24:58 Do you think people who defend the bucks miss? that that's the exact same way they've always been. I don't think anybody defends the Bucks cares because they also defend all the other little friends that they want to play with, and they don't recognize who the fucking money ballplayers and the business are. They just like the self-made hey kids,
25:21 let's put on a show set. Let's get a little bit more. Let's finish up just a little bit more Kenny McIntosh and Billy Gunn. I don't say back in your due because obviously you're still wrestling right but back in the day it would be like if something happens for real backstage it's like let's make an angle of it. Let's like work together and kind of do something. They do but nothing like that. Like Vince had things under control really good. Like there's a couple. Like we all like you I don't have to like you to wrestle with you or to work with you. I don't have to like you. I don't have to do anything. I just have to do business and mostly 99.9% of the guys always did that. Right. There'll be that every spec now and then where you just pull them into a room.
26:10 You know, you pull them into a room, you shut the doors and you don't do it out in public. Like, and I don't do it in front of the boys. It's just like if I have something bad to say about coaching and I'm about to lose my shit, I don't do it in front of people. I take them somewhere where nobody else can hear it because it's nobody else's business. You pull them into a room. you shut the door and you go, all right, here we go. What are we doing? Like, if you got a problem, we need to fix it now.
26:34 We'll fix it now. So when we walk out the door, we don't have a problem anymore. Right? And that's how grown-ass people deal with shit. We'll be stopping there amongst the small. There's a small smattering of applause for the, but a truer statement may never have been spoken. That's instead of these. children because they were scared to
27:00 fucking talk to the guy that can fucking obviously out-talk them and poke holes in their goddamn childish arguments to begin with but they wanted to natter behind his back. So he nattered to the fucking public because he was like you know what fuck it. I've
27:16 just hurt myself. I'm going to be out for a while I'm in a bad mood. I'm going to eat so what was the jelly donuts and tell people what I think. Muffins. And he was more than happy to oblige them when they barged in his fucking locker room. It was Mindy's muffins. I remember that.
27:31 Muffins, donuts. They were the original pizza place. Mindy's muffins. Yes. You know, Blue Springs, Missouri is now going to have the pizza place and a Mindy's muffin drive-thru. Well, we'll see what kind of deal we could put together. But any closing thoughts on, again, Billy Gunn here, you know, sounds like such a rational, easy to deal with, easy to understand kind of guy. That's why he's been continually employed in one fashion or another.
27:59 in the wrestling business since like 1990 fucking three because he worked, he stayed in incredible shape, obviously. He could talk a little bit and he got over
28:12 and he's fucking used the goddamn gimmick. But, you know, he also, you know, because he stayed in the business, he kind of has to put up with some of these little wise asses that have infiltrated the place.
28:29 but at the same time he has a level head and he knows what bullshit is and what it's not. Just sometimes if you pay him enough, he will do your bullshit. Well, like I said at the start, CM Punk has moved on, seems happy, the Bucks, I'm guessing they're happy.
28:46 Billy sounded cheerful as fuck. Billy seems really fucking happy. He's in the best shape of his life. Whatever he's doing, I need to do. But that's the story. Once again, CM Punk and the Bucks, the AEW Montreal, here revisiting that today. Oh, good Lord.
29:03 Jim, on the topic of AEW, the big pay-per-view, AEW wrestle dream. It began as a tribute to Antonio Inoki. It was, now it was a tribute to excess and fucking hot-shotting. And once again, the excess started before the show, two pre-shows, two different pre-shows. Well, and you know, when I forgot, what were the, Do you have access to what the pre-show matches were?
29:30 Because I again ordered the pay-per-view and got Renee Moxley Good, Jeff Jarrett, and a random rotating guest list in the attic with, you know, on the roof somewhere. And you can tell that there's a ring and an arena behind them and that's it. And they talk to you. Do we know what the pre-show matches were? Because that's an important detail, Brian, that I neglected to fucking jot down. out.
29:58 The pre-show matches, and everyone last time said, you missed the pre-show. It was on TBS. I was like, oh, I went to TBS. Baseball was on. It's the playoffs. And then I went and I got it on Amazon because Amazon gives you the option, obviously English feed, Spanish feed, buy-in, tailgate thing, all these options. You don't even know which one to do.
30:19 I know that. Remember the last time I had to buy it twice because I got fucking Spanish? Yeah. But I just don't understand. the point was they were saying we'll be right back after this and going to commercials but it wasn't on TBS so I don't even know exactly what the hell was happening but just do one pre-show
30:39 just do one well they lose opportunities to injure people that way divine dominion defeated the sisters of sin nine minutes and 30 seconds the Don Callis family of Doyle Alexander and Wardlow with Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta. This giant beast comes back
31:03 after how many years and is on a six man on the pre-show. Well, they defeated Alex Breeze, Poppy D, and Rice Maddox who? What now? In two minutes and 45 seconds. It was a squash match. Huh.
31:24 Yeah. Could have been a Ruta Bega match. The Death Riders of Claudio, Garcia, Gabe Kidd and Yuda. An eight-man tag. And the dogs of David Finley and Clark Connors. A ten-man tag. Twelve-man tag. What?
31:42 With Marina Shafir defeated the Bang Bang Gang of Jay White, who's back, Austin Gun and Colton Gun, and the conglomeration of Orange Cassidy, Kyle O'Reilly, and Roderick Strong with Willow Nightingale. 11 minutes. Okay, at this point is, can we all just agree that he's writing people's names down just so he won't hurt their feelings by leaving him off the show? I am so sick of multi-man matches, and if you notice, these pre-show multi-man matches,
32:14 they're always the same people as the death riders, it's the conglomeration, it's the bang, bang, gang, right? Jay White got hurt in the pre-show, the tailgate thing of the last pay-per-view. Of the last pay-per-view. So he returns and you put him on the pre-show again? And why, if the pre-show, if the pre-show serves any purpose other than to, again, not hurt these guys' feelings, then it's to rev the crowd up to get ready for the big main show, right? Why? Why does it, you need a, why do you need a 12-man tag every, you just had a, was it an eight-man tag or a six-man tag?
32:53 I can't write these names. It was a tag match followed by a. a trios match followed by a 12-man tag match. So that's 12, 18, that's 24 guys on the pre-show. In the words of Kerry Silken in Phoenix, Arizona, what am I running? Make a wish? The answer was yes. Jim, the final pre-show match, and we'll stop here because this is where the main show
33:23 began, the Motor City Machine Guns and FTR. well, I forgot if you count, then it's 28 guys on the pre-show, if you count that this started on the pre-show, which I didn't see because I paid $49.95 to order the pay-per-view on real fucking television. And it says, you're not allowed to copy or distribute this. Don't worry. And then suddenly the screen pops up and there's a four-way between these fucking guys and they're just going 100 miles an hour.
33:56 And the match has been going on for at that point, was it almost 10 minutes? Was it, Brian? Do you recall exactly? It was something like that, something around 10 minutes, 12 minutes somewhere. So I've done things the right way. I've followed the law and the rules.
34:17 I've ordered the pay-per-view and actually paid for it. And I get it. And one of the matches is already, it's like you order the steak, but somebody ate the potato before it came to the table. So immediately they're in heat on Shelley. And this is going to be a recurring theme. Their work is good, everybody, they're serious, nobody cared,
34:47 unless they were doing hazardous material, hazardous spots. Otherwise, they're all just sitting there. And I wonder, should we say this now, is there a worse place to run a wrestling show anymore than Orlando, Florida? Why? Why would you want to run Orlando at this point? To lock up the arena from dual arena? I don't know.
35:15 But that's, for 20 years, they've been seeing some bad wrestling and mostly free wrestling. T&A was there for how many years. and all you had to go do was go to Universal and you got it and you didn't have to pay to get into Universal if you followed the T&A line or whatever. So it was basically, it was free. Nobody bought a fucking ticket. They were there five times a month
35:44 with the national TV stars. NXT based in Orlando, the friends and family fucking system. Where you're seeing guys where they're really fucking rotten starting out, but also every independent, every
36:04 fucking, Orlando has been a source of free or amateur wrestling, not a source but a location for for the past 20 years. And then they've seen everything. So these people
36:19 all night, am I wrong? Did you notice this unless somebody did something where it looked like somebody legitimately got hurt, they were sitting there staring like it was a goddamn study hall. Yeah, there was a lot of that. And that goes back to what Billy Gunn was talking about. I fell in love with wrestling when the people were going bad shit about shit.
36:48 I'd never heard people. I'd been to the Harlem Globetrotters and even went to one ABA game and had been to the fucking circus. And nobody ever screamed louder than at a wrestling show in 1974. If you really think about it, when have we ever seen in America deader crowds more regularly? Who again, they get up at certain points in the night? But there are points and a lot of points where there's dead silence. Like golf.
37:22 You never had that with wrestling, ever. But you have a lot of this audience, for AEW especially, it's not about kids. It's people who just want to sit and stare at the wrestling. Well, I mean, you can understand it because, number one, they know it's all bullshit except when somebody's about to really fucking paralyze themselves. Number two, they know they're going to be there for five hours. How long can you scream before you need medical attention? Number three, they don't care about these fucking individuals, for the most part.
37:57 There are a few they do. The rest of it is just. just who's going to do a cool, have a corona over the top rope and land on somebody's head and break their fucking neck and their head rolls to my feet. Well, specific to this match, we just talked about it on dynamite. FTR's doing their promo dressed like mechanics. The machine guns who have barely been on dynamite if they've been on dynamite at all since they signed come out and just challenge him to a best of five.
38:28 Yes, because they respect each other. no angle. Maybe the fans here would have cared if there was some kind of angle where one of these guys tried to decapitate one of the other guys, but you know, you're just watching two teams. Have a wonderfully executed match that had no, as you said, a build between two teams who have, FTR's never been colder because now they're just hanging around
38:52 changing oil, I guess. And Shelley and Sabin, who came in from the other side and were quickly not only marginalized, made one of the boys, two of the boys, but we haven't even hardly seen them. They haven't been beat because they haven't been on TV. Maybe on the B show.
39:13 Who give what? So, and then they sent them out here to go 30 minutes or whatever it was and have a great match. And the people sitting there go, oh, big shit, it's the first of a best of five. So what is on the line here is so yeah so they just watch there was
39:35 the biggest response is to me that tag team wrestling in general and the midnight in rock and roll in particular or my experience with the midnight in general was during the heat with the baby face trying to tag and the more of Ricky Morton trying to tag
39:57 and the more hope spot you gave him, and the more closer he got, the bigger they went. And in the hot tag and blah, blah, blah, there was no response to the heat because it's not flippy moves. And they did a hot tag, but it got mild response. Usually everybody in this company does cold tags. Well, they did kind of a hot tag. Nobody cared, so it wasn't hot.
40:26 and then they tried to again, it's FTR, so they're going to have a fucking nice tag match and then go five to seven minutes too long with too much because they've got to be complicated and, you know, it's a lot of two counts and a variety of false finishes and four guys in the ring for long periods of time and four-way spots. And the people lose track of who's legal. And the referee just stares at everything. As spike pile driver on Shelley was a two-count. And finally, the machine guns foiled the tag team stuff and hit a double team thing
41:16 that I have never seen before. And pinned Dax one, two, three. So it was good stuff early. goes too far into being a modern tag team match at the end with just endless series of moves, but goddamn again, the people have already seen 24 guys in three matches, and they know they're going to be sitting there for another four minutes,
41:42 and there's nothing behind this, so why scream and yell and care? Yeah, and again, the Motor City machine guns are off, you know, pretty fresh off WWETV. they didn't get any extra pop or anything from these fans. AW has done nothing to capitalize on whatever there was to capitalize on. Well, now they're dropping the ball on new day, so they've already moved on from the machine guns.
42:09 The machine guns were new day six months ago or whatever. Not even. I think, you know, they just got there too. But it was a good match. It was a fine match. I agree with the things that you pointed out were egregious at the end. And, you know, if you can't do a wrestling match without adhering to the simple rules, like not being tornado style.
42:30 I've got a problem with it. But it was just fine. It felt like FTR were kind of trying to do one of their classic matches from years ago. A modern, you know, run at that, but I didn't have the investment in this match. The people need to cooperate on the real classics. And I know there's, again, there's this element that, because they really grew up or whatever, only watching wrestling on video,
42:58 that it doesn't matter the crowd, but I can tell you from being in them for however many 30 fucking years or whatever, the crowd being into it guses you to it, the baby faces comeback is more fiery, the heels fucking bumps are bigger, or the heels heat is more vehement, or the goddamn, everybody,
43:24 more into it. It feeds on it. The guys in the ring feed off the crowd and the crowd feeds off people in the ring. And if people in the crowd are sitting there going,
43:36 you can do the moves all day long, but it's going to be drier than a fucking nuns coochie. Well, who knows? Maybe we'll be really into this by match four.
43:49 But let's see where it goes. That was the opening match to machine guns and FTR. Well, and then, and I must admit, that I'm not going to go into detail on this one. FECLA against Mercedes Mone for the women's title. I like Thetla, but I just can't do Mercedes for 20 minutes or whatever it's going to be.
44:10 And I did see the finish, which she just beat Thetla with that goofy finish. She didn't cheat or anything. Why are you just having this girl? Now, you and the Royals, you and the Tony Consents, not you, Brian. she beats everybody and doesn't she she's an obnoxious bitch so she ought to be healing her ass off
44:38 and maybe she'd be over instead of a waste of fucking money but she's just trying to have all these great matches that they have in their heads that they envision themselves doing which you know whatever but she just beat her so that they find girls with actual
44:57 either talent or personality. I think Thickla's got more personality and she got talent. Either one of those is good to have, but they have this schlub, beat them all. I don't, eh, wish she'd go back out walking in the woods, Mercedes.
45:16 Get lost again. All right, well, we'll see if she can get found in Monet Mag. But Jim, there was more AEW wrestling. The next match was Chris Jericho versus Nick Plain. And I wrote this show is a rib. Nick Wayne can get heat as a personality
45:43 because he looks like a goofy teenage kid playing a heel wrestler. And they could take the long stick. he carefully thought out Dominic Mysterio path with him and in a few years if he can gain some fucking weight and still have that slapable face then you know then they might have something
46:16 but they're just he's come back out of nowhere I'm sure he was hurt somewhere and suddenly he's wrestling Chris Jericho and they're trading wins back and forth and he looks like a goofy teenage kid playing a heel wrestler. So use that. Don't try to make him a serious singles contender. I could have been a contender.
46:44 Because the reason why he gets the heat is because he looks like a goddamn goofy teenage kid playing heel wrestler. But you can't use him in a main event spot. He just can't suddenly start beating. Well, I was going to say Hall of Famers, but he couldn't, Jericho couldn't put that deal together. But you know what I'm saying. And it helps that Jericho can play Judas again. And Jericho is a pro at milking the crowd and getting time and shorting a cut,
47:21 taking one and a half less steps whenever he shoots somebody off, than he used to. He conserves energy. But they tried to do the modern-style shit. They went to the floor. You know, he gave Nick Wayne a Death Valley driver on the stairs in like the first fucking minute of the match. The referee doesn't pretend to count anybody.
47:50 Jericho turned into Roughhouse Fargo doing a bit with a photographer of still camera. And they try to do the shit like Jericho tried to do the punches in the corner. But while he was standing on a top rope so that they could do the thing where he pushes Jericho off and Jericho takes a bump on the floor, almost hit the cameraman.
48:17 But because he's up on a top rope, his punches are as weak as cats' piss. and he's just obviously up there when I'm going through this motion until you push me, kind sir. Do you see what I'm saying, Brian? Yes, I watch this match. I see exactly what you're saying.
48:38 Why do they need to do that if they can't do it? Because Jericho is working richy rich out of his millions of dollars since he couldn't put the WWE deal together. He went back here and he's, I'm going to put these young kids over and make them stars. How'd that work, Action Andretti? And they're trying to do the modern shit
49:01 that is the only shit that this crowd comes to see is the shit that it looks like you're going to fucking break your goddamn neck. Nick Wayne is an athletic, really skinny kid. I don't think he's six feet tall because Jericho is barely, if that, and Nick looks shorter. but he does the completely modern wrestling instead of trying to develop again, but you can't develop with the shoddy booking,
49:34 the long Dominic Mysterio build where he used that nerdishness to his advantage, etc. But the fans of this type of shit would think that he's better than an Austin theory. And that's why that this whole, fucking group in and out of the ring is doomed to be in the small group that they are. And it's not even theory or brawn or the size.
50:06 They get mentally, they get working. They're young, but they get working. They have basics. They don't do bullshit. They understand how to get over based on the way they're being presented rather than the fucking five-star match. So after zoning out on this thing, they did a deal. Jericho waistlocked Nick Wayne and the referee walked in close to him and they botched
50:39 something that the announcer said, well, Nick looked like poked the referee in the eye. No, it didn't. It didn't look like he touched him, but the referee turned away for no reason, apparently, to anybody. And Nick mule kicks Jericho in the balls. but Jericho no sells the nutshot. And then apparently they realized that they really didn't poke the referee or whatever because then he gets back in the way and Nick Wayne shoves the referee so he can kick Jericho into balls and Jericho no sold it again.
51:20 And Jericho dramatically pulls out the fucking cup, right? the hockey cup or cup of cup of many colors or corn a cup of whatever Brian I'm going to make an admission here have you have you
51:40 I'll ask you first and maybe I won't feel lonely have you ever worn one of those things for a shoot for real instead of a wrestling angle the cup over your over your fucking hoo-ha and the twins
51:53 when I play baseball yes would it still work if somebody just hauled up and football kicked you as hard as they could right between the legs is it still work right between the legs like you know so it would touch the bottom of you'd still feel it like here like they just did here no i mean if you got a fastball to the dick you may you know not go down but it's gonna hurt but you'll probably go down either even if you're wearing the cup so yeah kick i think you would feel it unless it was some sort of steel reinforcement it's it's it's it's cup, I don't know. Yeah, it's like a magic, you know, force field or whatever. I've never worn one, so I can't, I've never had the occasion to have shit flying at my dick that fucking fast. But it just, it's, he just, you know, it was a nicely, it was probably custom-fitted cup over his equipment. But nevertheless, he no sold it. He pulled out the cup and this was followed by kind of the fakedest exchange ever where
52:58 comprised, I should say, the fakesest exchange ever where the referee was just spinning and kicking and fucking whatever. And then Jericho hit Nick with the cup in front of the referee, which is technically a foreign object, so it should have been his qualification.
53:18 But the referee just took it away from him. and then Jericho kicked Nick in the balls, but then went for the elbow and missed it, and Nick small packaged him. One, two, three. What the, did he have a cup on? He recovered from the ball kick in 10 seconds. And then he got the microphone, old Nick,
53:44 and gloated that he's beaten Jericho the second time. and I was thinking there's probably talent that would benefit right now from beating Chris Jericho with a non-fake finish but this wasn't it and it wasn't him. There's also telegraphs that Jericho's going to get his win back
54:10 even though it's two wins. There's no way this ends without Jericho getting the win and coming out of this feud on top which doesn't help Nick Wayne and secondly, is there a year? human being on planet Earth that wants to see Chris Jericho wrestle in 2026? Well, there may be people that want to sing to him his song
54:31 because they manufactured that into being a thing during the pandemic. But in terms of him in the ring, I'm thinking that if he announced, ladies and gentlemen, this would be the last time I'm ever going to get in the ring, that would draw a crowd. That would get the biggest ovation of the night. but that's what I thought about that all right another winner from Russell Dream once again conceived
55:01 as a tribute for Antonio Anoki Taiga Da indeed Jim we have tag team action next here on the show yes we do and now let's see the guns and FTR was a best of five that one and then the the girls match was for a title
55:19 then Nick and Jericho it was just it was personal. Now we got the tag team title, the Hardley Boys against Kevin Knight and Kyle Feltcher. And again, if you're looking at this roster as a whole, the young talent that they should try to do something with for the future, I've said from the start,
55:43 we like Kevin Knight, and he's athletic and he's young and he's learning a whole lot of bad habits. And of course, Kyle, he's athletic and he's young and he's learning a whole lot of bad habits but at least they're young they're new they're fresh you can begin to elevate them if anybody on this roster they're stuck in with these two glory hogs with their fake matches and their gymnastic bullshit and it makes both of them look goofy either the fucking giant limey with the fucking statue of liberty
56:22 outfit who's twice the Bucceroos size or the black kid with the dreadlocks that look like he could kick the shit out of both of them and not breathe hard are having to go through these the same old shit
56:38 routine simpleton shit for the benefit so the Buccaroos can do their rolls and their cartwheels and their kicks and how long has it been now since the the bucks honestly
56:54 how long has it been since they've meant anything to a in terms of ticket sales or interest to a card or the show in general but to any pay-per-view for fuck's sake good Lord
57:11 it's Tony's fault for validating their opinions of themselves by paying them all that money and signing away his goddamn like to him apparently whether they'll be there until their antlers fall off so nevertheless in this match finally they were they had Kyle down on his knees about to give him that shitty little double knee lift that never
57:42 hits and Kevin Knight was going to come off the ropes behind him and they jerked Kyle up to his feet so Kevin Knight would wipe off his own wipe off well maybe later wipe out his own partner, and then they gave the knee lift tonight and beat him one, two, three. But just, again, 23 minutes bell to bell, so they've got to be self-indulgent on this five-plus hour show and beat these young kids. Nobody cares about them.
58:20 They've seen all their shit. They can't do any different shit. Their interviews are boring. when they get revved up and laughable, for the most part, can they just go away and leave us alone? Well, hopefully, at the conclusion of this, Nick Wayne, Nick Jackson, when he was leaving, turned to the mic and said, I don't know how many more of these I could do, Tony.
58:48 Good. Nobody's really going to fucking browbeat you to do it again. They're the most overrated tag team in wrestling history. You knew exactly what this match would be. You knew exactly who was going over. you could have predicted the spots when they do their spots that may have been new and fresh a decade ago, maybe longer. You've seen it all.
59:09 And you know who the referee is going to be? It's going to be Rick Knox. And you know they can't wrestle with tag team rules. And I was thinking about this. They're like the sheik. They can only wrestle their match. They're not capable of getting over or getting a pop unless it's a match where there's no rules. We can both be in the ring at all times. We can do things that we thought of and set up
59:33 in our head and we can go for cheap pops. Like they can't just like wrestle a match or they're not a thing. It's, I mean, it's a crazy example. To your, to your point, or yeah, to your point earlier that you made with their friends, they got their friend referee because he just, he's completely useless and nobody notices him. Nobody cares. He's there because he does nothing and he lets him do everything. And yes, it's, you know, if you could, if you could carry your own step ladder around of dunk in the NBA, you could fucking score all kinds of fucking points. You want to draw? Say that you're booking them against
01:00:13 Lashley and Shelton and making a three-minute squash Road Warriors Midnight Express, New Orleans style, and just go in a different direction. Because it's, I don't think to answer your earlier question, I don't think they draw a single fan. I don't think they sell any merch anymore. I don't think anyone cares about the bucks. I think the bucks are one of the most successful self-hyped machines ever in wrestling. And then once you try to do stuff with them, you see that there isn't, I mean, you watch them come out. No one's moving. The fans are all just standing there. They come out, they get pyro, they got music that is
01:00:56 easily recognizable. The cannon that shoots the fake money out. Fake money. No one gives a fuck. Except them. But we can only cross our fingers that they'll fucking take a... Yeah, I'm just thinking it. At some point, at some point, they need to do a goddamn entrance where they just have a bunch of fucking people dressed up as headless chickens with the
01:01:21 fucking wings on fire. Coming and flapping down and see if anybody's hands up and go, what the fuck makes any noise? Flaming chickens. Yeah, but no one cared about this match. And I will say, though, Kyle Fletcher came out without the tiara. So maybe he's decided to lose the thing that was making him most look like the Statue of Liberty. That is true.
01:01:44 Now, he, if he can just work on the rest of it. They had a girls' four-way, but it was not produced by Vivid Video, so I did not watch it. There was apparently four girls in this that they just plucked out of the federal witness protection program. I didn't recognize any of these fucking names. I watched the first minute of it and it made jello wrestling at the mouse's ear look like Thess versus Longson. They were trying to schoolgirl each other in turn one after the other, one after the other, one after the other, one after the other. and I saw it went 15 minutes on my fast forward. It's called the school boy because I think the idea was boys could do this on the playground
01:02:33 at school. I don't know. Do you girls? Yeah, well, no, that's, that's actually why that is named that. That's the old thing that you used to do, if modified, but where the guy would get down on his hands and knees behind a fucking guy, and the other guy would shove the guy, and he'd fall over backwards because he didn't know the guy was behind him. So when the wrestling move became the thing where you reached between the legs and rolled a guy up like that, the schoolboy.
01:03:00 But it's a schoolgirl here because they're just school girls, not school boys. It would be sexist to call them misogynistic guy to call them boys. Well, Persephone won the no boys match. Persephone won. That's right. Well, maybe she can call somebody. All right, for the international heavyweight championship of the world of internations, Tomaso Champa wrestled Andrade, and this led to some element of debate online I saw.
01:03:45 You know, at least in Orlando, the models are sixes and sevens instead of threes and fours. that's what I got out of Andrade's entrance. And they rang the bell on this thing. They were three hours into the show, two hours into the pay-per-view, and an hour of the pre-show. And I'm thinking, what, Tomaso is a great worker. As we've said, he's in tremendous shape.
01:04:12 His work is impeccable when he's applying himself and allowed to. He seems very, the cycle. killer, right? He's got a serious demeanor and promo. He just means nothing because of the booking. And Andre doesn't suck, but
01:04:32 he ain't great, and he ain't going to be any kind of a meaningful, well, that's not even fair to say here. A.E.W. doesn't really have needle movers, but he's not going to fit in in the fucking main events, even though how they try
01:04:48 very, very hard. because he's basically, he's like all the Lucha guys, they're doing moves and they're doing spots and they're trying to do all this personality stuff. But it's just the Guerrero's knew the American style, and I mentioned this before, and knew better than anybody else in the business from the 70s on how to incorporate Lucha that made them look good
01:05:19 against American-style wrestlers that it didn't look out of place. It worked for them, but they knew how to work American style and how to apply it so they could work with anybody. And this guy ain't it. It's just, and the stupid selfie with the fake plant. Again, a better-looking model, but it's just ridiculous and obviously fake to the point where anybody would ask, why are they hiring that girl to stand there and take the picture with him?
01:06:00 And she stands out from the rest of the crowd so obviously. But then I'm thinking, okay, Tomaso took a selfie with his little daughter who's at ringside again. Are they now paying for the family to follow him around the country? But that got a pop. So that's the way they set it up. But then I'm, okay, wait. Help me here, Brian. Tomaso Champa is the psycho killer.
01:06:36 And I thought he was a heel that, you know, was a psycho killer and was dangerous and turned over chairs on his promos. But suddenly they did the deal with him and his little daughter. giving the finger to who the fuck they give the finger to god damn it so the psycho killer heal as a cute daughter but the baby face
01:07:02 that he's wrestling here is a big baby face that hires horrors to walk him to the ring and is so self-absorbed that he stops his matches to take pictures with these women that he then
01:07:19 basically begs to fucking kiss him on the cheek. And then after that happens, he like does this walk where he shrugs almost like, what, I can't do anything about this? What? Yes, they're just, they're all over me. They're grabbing my penis everywhere I go.
01:07:37 This is all, but he's the baby face. But who's the baby face now? The psycho killer with the cute daughter or the fucking cocky Mexican guy that's hiring whores. I'm so confused. Again, I go back to that interview we heard with him where he was like describing what he's now able to do in AEW versus what he did in WW.
01:07:58 And it's just like, I get to be me, you know, I kiss people, I kiss the referee, I go over to pretty girl, and it was just the stupidest definition. This is what he's doing, though. He actually is doing everything he said. This gimmick is all him. He seems so pleased with himself from the wardrobe to the, to the de-wordrobing in the match, to the women,
01:08:22 it's the most ridiculous thing, and obviously Tony can't tell him, no. If you want to do the thing with the woman at ringside, the beginning of the match, not always halfway through a 20-minute match. What sense does that make? But, any, I'm ranting, I'm sorry. Well, basically, I don't know how far it was in,
01:08:46 but this time they did, where he went to, remember the last time he went to take his pants off, he got, they got stuck, he couldn't get his pants off around his ankles. He looked like a goddamn televangelist coming out of fucking Bourbon Street
01:09:00 at fucking 5 a.m. What kind of ladies, man, can't get their pants off? Yeah, well, so now this time they worked it in. Apparently he hadn't got new pants made, but he went to take the pants off, but the Tomaso stopped him before,
01:09:15 he gave the people what they wanted, which was him pantsless. And then Tomaso pulled his pants, no, not too many pronouns, pal. Tomaso pulled Andre's pants off and then started giving them wrestling moves. And I know somebody is some wise ass
01:09:42 is going to see a clip on Twitter going. Rick Flair did the same thing. I'm not talking about when Rick Flair was doing an interview and we'd get so worked up and so mad that he would whip his suit jacket off and he'd throw it down on the ground and he'd drop an elbow on it and he'd get up and he'd scream some more. I'm talking about this guy legitimately starts doing wrestling moves to the pants and then goes for a cover
01:10:15 and the referee, Aubriette, while the long face, she went down and started counting and the pants kicked out. And Tomaso looked shocked that the pants had kicked out. And hopefully part of his shocked look was that he looked shocked when the fans tuned out, because that's when I did. again, I've praised this young man, well, young man, now he looks older than I do now, but it's part of the appeal to be in that fucking shape
01:10:59 and that gray hair, but I've said nice things about him. He just couldn't beat a pair of pants. But in the middle of this supposed fucking championship match for this bullshit belt that Tony has made so that he can design another belt. He just starts wrestling the guy's pants and can't beat them. And then I guess they went back to a match,
01:11:28 but that was enough for me. And I went on and I don't know what happened and I don't care. Because what was even the idea of that? Andrade won, 21 minutes. So Tomaso couldn't beat him or his, fucking drawers. I think Tony booked a rematch or a match
01:11:54 between Tomaso and Andrade's hat for a dynamite or collision. We'll see what happens. The hat will smother him and get a tap out. This was embarrassing, and this was also a great example of everything wrong with the culture around AEW, because
01:12:10 it got one of the biggest reactions of the night from the fans there. Well, that's the wrestling is supposed to be silly and fun crowd. And they all ought to be ashamed to themselves. I'm talking about the talent. Because they have taught with their self-indulgence and their ability to build a billionaire
01:12:30 and all these indie little indies around the world with no guidance and no supervision have generated this where they think that wrestling is supposed to be silly and fun and now that people, they can't untrain them. they've got to either humiliate themselves or kill themselves or they can't get a fucking response. And that's why they can't fucking do things like, I don't know, get over individually as personalities
01:13:02 and or sell some fucking tickets. Nobody has heat. There are no heels that fans want to get to. There are no heels that piss people off. There are no managers that piss people off. They get big reactions from crap like this. It was pointed out to me. I believe Champa was done.
01:13:20 the guy in the ring with Chuck Taylor years ago when they did the grenade spot in PWG. So... I didn't even know that for the longest time because I was so fixated on the guy with the fucking hand grenade, you know, invisible hand grenade in his hand or whatever. But, yes, he's a mental case.
01:13:38 Champa can either be talked into stupid shit or he has really stupid instincts. I don't care if something gets a pop. A bird flying into the building and taking a shit in the middle of the ring would get the biggest pop of the night almost anywhere. Doesn't mean you should have it on every show, let alone bird shitting in every match.
01:14:00 And I thought this was embarrassing. This is the kind of shit you can't defend as a wrestling fan. And this does take you back to those days of PWG, you know, doing AEW in a small venue and doing shit that embarrassed a lot of wrestling fans. And this was embarrassing. And how am I ever supposed to take Champa seriously ever again? ever again.
01:14:20 Well, I mean, the book Why the fuck was Aubrey Ed counting? Yeah, the whole thing was just, well, yeah, the booking had already prevented Champa from ever really mean in anything here. But again, the whole promotion looks stupid when the referee goes along with it. And it's not like Aubriette needs any help
01:14:38 making herself look stupid. But the whole, it enveloped everyone around it. Why does, what does Andre need 21 minutes to beat this guy that can't beat his pants? Well, the Andrade, Andrade, Andrade push continues. Did you see what Dave Meltzer said about this? Some saw it as a defense, some saw it as not a defense, but I think it was pretty much a defense of this. Did you see that? Well, no, I did. I heard that he had made some statement about it, but I don't know what the statement is yet. So we will be, I will be surprised along with the listeners when you tell us both or all. as the case may be what he said. This was posted on Facebook by Wrestling Observer Radio.
01:15:26 Wrestling Observer Figure 4, excuse me. This is Wrestling Observer Radio with Dave Meltzer and Garrett Gonzalez, not Brian Alvarez, talking about... Because Brian finally got fed up. You know, it's kind of crazy because people send me more and more clips. Even the stuff he does that doesn't have Dave on it. He's pointing out so much of the shit that's been wrong with AEW from the beginning, but he's doing it now.
01:15:49 And I really wonder, if he had covered AEW from the beginning, the way he covered like TNA in the early 2000s, it would be a different world. But I think a lot of people had rose-colored glasses on with AEW, and a lot of people were friends with a lot of people involved with AEW. So it took them longer to get fed up is what you're saying. Well, again, this is Brian Alvarez free. Let's go to this Meltzer and Garrett Gonzalez on the Pants Spot. there's a spot and it's probably going to be the most talked about spot certainly in this match and one of the most of the show and And Andrade finally you know the undradi gets the pants off chompa starts attacking the pants that's okay you know he's knee drops the pants whatever pounding the pants stomping the pants you know for heat then he goes hold on for heat for heat for heat for heat I know how I'll get heat I'll beat up his pants
01:16:51 He went to the Benny Hill School of Wrestling To pin the pants I'll get his pants And Aubrey Edwards I believe is a ref She goes down and counts one two And then Chompa flies off and does the You know that NXT facial thing that I hate You know what I mean
01:17:11 Where you're over exaggerating What? The thing and it like it just takes takes you out of the match. He's talking about the surprise slash shocked look that wrestlers against, someone kicks out at it too, and they back up into the corner, and they can't believe what just happened. Well, yes, but my guy,
01:17:28 I remember telling guys in Ring of Honor in 2009 and 10 not to do that, because it was an indie wrestling thing, and there was no NXT. It didn't exist then. But specifically, it's an indie wrestling thing, because the rule of thumb is when you've hit somebody with a big move and they kick out, you're supposed to be shocked, so everybody started doing the same goddamn thing. And I've been telling people not do that for 20 years.
01:18:01 Go ahead. Every time. And this was like, you know, it's a championship match and it's a really good match. So what I have to say is, like, okay, I hated it. All right. I hated it. I hated it so bad. bad, right? It got
01:18:16 a giant crowd reaction. So it's like, okay. It's kind of cheap, though. It's a cheap reaction. Yeah. You know what? It's funny. Yeah. It's a bird shit reaction. Yeah, this is another one of these Dave things where I hated it,
01:18:32 I hated it. However, people there really reacted to it. Well, but in this case, it's not even a the context that he usually uses it well well you know I didn't like the finish of the violence but they reacted he's literally talking about the equivalent of the bird shitting in the ring getting a big reaction and he's still the but yeah
01:18:57 it got a big if the fucking roof fell in it would get a big reaction we don't want that either back to the bird shit it's like a difference in thing because I have seen this you know not this exact spot, okay, not this exact spot, but this is something that would happen in PWG and would get this reaction at PWG. And like when you're watching, like if I had a PWG show and, you know, yes, you have your serious matches that you wouldn't do it in, but you also have your matches. I mean, there's wacky stuff at PWG. You expect it. It's just, it's inside wink, wink, that's fine. And I guess like, look at work.
01:19:41 It worked. It got a great reaction. I just don't know if, you know, if AEW on pay-per-view should be PWG. And then I, this is someone, let me stop it here for a moment. Because PWG would have serious matches and then they would also do the comedy stuff. The comedy stuff was self-indulgent and those people there in that small room in Recita wanted to play along with the wrestlers. Well, yeah, let's go ahead and for the vast number of people listening to us, because remember, this is a larger audience than PWG ever got that's listening to us right now. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla was a group that these fucking guys started on their own. The Southern California trampoline cowboy fucking operators ran the thing themselves. Yeah, who started it? Joey Ryan, Excalibur, and I think Magic Dragon, maybe it was one other guy, but it was Joey Ryan's in Scalibor? No, was it bad. He was he magic or super or he was something like that. Whatever the fuck. The guy that got hurt and stopped wrestling, so I don't know. And that's why Excalibur always make mockery because legitimately he only wrestled for a thing that he did himself.
01:21:03 He's the literal, hey kids, let's put on a show of National TV Pro wrestling right now. but that's the point is PWG was where they and all their friends they would raise enough money by selling 400 tickets in a suburb of fucking Los Angeles you could sell 400 tickets in a fucking
01:21:25 Los Angeles area of people to line up to eat dog shit off the sidewalk but they would sell tickets enough to break even so that they could fly their best friends in who did all of the flips and the gymnastics and the comedy shit from all over the country and they would put their own shows on and 400 family and friends would come and see this fucking shit
01:21:52 and they convinced them that if only we could get this in a 10,000 seat building we'd end up drawn 2,000 people to see that too and which is what happened because it's just ridiculous and what are the kids today they call it the gatekeepers right well they had gatekeepers back in those days that wouldn't let some people in wrestling the promoters and the the old veterans would be gatekeepers and you yes yes they would and that's exactly what was needed because if they hadn't if they hadn't gate kept and kept out the goofs and the idiots and and the marks and the wannabes and the people who were not either physically or mentally suited for the wrestling business. I didn't say physically or mentally suitable. I said suited for the wrestling business. Then you would have had people running their yaps all over town about what was going on. You would have had people putting on shit shows with doing phony shit that would reduce the public.
01:23:08 view of wrestling, not the mainstream public, but to people that bought tickets to see wrestling. If they went to Outlaw shows, then and saw one of those back in those days, chances are it would discourage them from buying a ticket to see live wrestling again from anybody. That's why the promoters not only kept care that opposition is different than Outlaw. an opposition Bruiser was run an opposition to Sheik in Detroit or the Pafos
01:23:48 were running opposition to Jarrett in Tennessee or the Atlanta war opposition is a still recognized talent and an organized group with television running in opposition to the
01:24:04 established area promoter but outlaw shows have been since the beginning of time and that's what were discouraged was the hey kids let's put on a show somebody locally knows a guy that can weld and knows a carpenter we can build us a ring and boy i look like a lumberjack i'm going to be lumberjack fucking simpson remember i've read some of those of the late 70s into carolinas with stan lane was actually on two or three of them brine we've read some of those cards they'd make their own belts out of cookie sheets or whatever and they would advertise in the paper in lumber
01:24:45 to North Carolina or fucking Ashkosh Wisconsin or Sweetwater, Texas, come see pro wrestling. Big Bill McBill, the local champion, taking on whatever the fuck. and that's the kind of shit that was bad for the business and was kept down promoters that didn't know what they were doing and wrestlers that were imitating what they saw on television
01:25:14 the shit either looked fake or just gave a generally unprofessional opinion in people's minds, bad taste in their mouth. But then that's what we got on a national basis
01:25:31 in the 90s with the attitude era and beyond was the territories were gone. There was nobody to gate keep. The big companies, the big two, had proven that you can make a fortune in a wrestling business. And now every jackleg starts becoming a local wrestling promoter or a local wrestler.
01:25:55 Because they can do the moves on their trampolines. And they, oh, but hey, since they have, have never had any experienced trainer or promoter or fucking veteran to instill in them, force feed them, if you will, any kind of legitimate respect for the business or what is supposed to be done and why it's supposed to be done instead of just imitating what you saw somebody do. That's how we got indie wrestling and indie wrestling promoters and the invisible man and slow motion wrestling and dance routines and all the shit that these people think is funny on a local basis around the fucking country in front of 200 of
01:26:50 their family and friends and anybody that got suckered into going to see the thing and they all found a place to congregate in PWG and basically go out and master in front of people by musing themselves with their comedic stylings and all the cool moves that they can dream up to do at a wrestling ring where people will cheer them for it. And the reason why that it went from Razida in 400 seats to fucking major buildings with a lot of seats and so many unfilled after a while is because Tony Kahn had that mindset because this was the first place David ever gone, where instead of treating him like a nuisance, they treated him like somebody important and they all buddied up to him, so he would give him good ratings.
01:27:46 And now Tony Kahn has invested a billion dollars into trying to foist this shit off on the goddamn general public. And it's why his crowds are smaller and his ratings are smaller now than they were six years ago because how much of this shit can you fucking look at? Well, again, we'll finish the audio here. It's important to know Dave's defense here. It's the same one he used that for Joey Ryan.
01:28:13 The room liked it. It gets a big pop. Everyone there likes it. Everybody liked watching the one man grabbed the other man's penis and throw him around. You know, had incredible, incredible fun at PWG and
01:28:30 PWG, thank God I went because if I hadn't gone to PWG I would probably be still spouting all these old axioms that I grew up with that were in fact probably good to learn in the 80s that had gone that matter nothing today but older people cling to it because it's not how it is but it's like, thank God, wait a minute, wait a minute. Hold on people older than him. That's such a small
01:28:58 minority now, Brian, there's almost nobody left in that fucking demographic. Older people clinging to, he has to, hey, fellow kids, let's go shoot up some marijuana. Again, Dave's hair is falling out of his head, it's jet black, whatever he has, he's dying at jet black and, you know, he looks ridiculous. He's trying to not get older, I guess. I don't know what it is, but saying that as older people defending things that he used to defend from the 80. You're 20 years younger than fucking he is. I am probably, yeah. Well, you don't like this shit either.
01:29:41 I think he thinks I'm one of the older people, too. I think the younger people are the people younger than 40 maybe? I don't know. Where's the cutoff? But basically the people who got around the gatekeepers, they're the ones he's learning from now. Let's go to the end of this. speed before AW so I can accept this stuff and be kind of on the level of the crowd itself.
01:30:05 But this one I wasn't. Well, there it is. That's the, on the level of the crowd itself. How low can you go? It's just interesting hearing Dave say that. Like, I was thinking one way, and then I started going to PWG, and I realized to fit into that room, I had to accept these things that I didn't believe or like. And now that's the way I think, and all these old guys are the ones talking about needing heat and angles and heels and baby faces and everything else that works.
01:30:38 You can go into some rooms, and as we know from popular German videos, some people enjoy having your balls nailed to a stepstool. But again, you can go into some rooms, let's say, in Dresden or East Berlin, and you might have 30 or 40, people fucking each other covered in Crisco. But that probably wouldn't play in, say, an eight or ten thousand seat room. You wouldn't be able to get that much
01:31:10 Crisco. But it may get a big pop from the people there. Isn't how what matters? If they were just watching the, if people wouldn't be popping if they were fucking each other while covered in Crisco. But if 8,000 people were watching 30 or 40 people fucking each other while covered in Crisco, well then they may pop.
01:31:26 But the point is, something are better left to a small, intimate gathering, such as indie-style modern fucking wrestling. You know, there's a little bit of that Haman defense, too. I think Dave said in the past he would question Haman years ago about decisions he would make that were somewhat nonsensical, but they worked because the fans there ate it all up. And Haman would say, if it works, it works.
01:31:55 And Dave just accepts that now. even if it's illogical, even if it's not meaning anything, even if it doesn't matter or hurts and certainly doesn't help. It gets a pop. Who cares? Here's another thing. Paul Lee, if it works, it works. Those raving fans were jumping up and down and screaming like we were talking about
01:32:18 fans used to. And they were buying his t-shirts. So they were buying the tickets to his fucking shoestring. budget shows and they were, that was, that was working, not just because the people popped on a spot where somebody got their fucking pants pulled down or whatever. That's what Paul Lee is talking about working. It's when you've got to people going crazy and invested and want to see more and what's the next show going to be to blah, blah, blah, not, oh wow, look, the bird's just shit. Well, there'll be lots more bird shit to talk about here on the show, but Jim, before we get
01:32:59 there. Maybe Dave would be accepting of other things if when he went to PWG that night, it was a frying pan match and everyone was hitting each other with frying pans, the huge pops. Of course, that example sucks
01:33:15 and it's inappropriate. What we want to talk about is putting those pans on your stove. You always yell at me. You always yell at me when I talk about being able to defend your home, your home and your castle from interlopers, by Wax. them over the head with one of these hex clad frying pans once they stick their head in the in the window
01:33:34 just bong and then boom and you're safe but you always get on me for that but that is one use and now once again you can cook in them too you can cook in them too folks because the hex clad pans are the best pans that you're ever going to use and own and having your home they are recommended and endorsed and even owned in his own personal home by Gordon Ramsey who ain't going to put up with no bullshit when it comes to cooking. And all the Hexclad products, they ain't no bullshit. They come with a lifetime warranty, the last set of pots and pans you're ever going to need. Dishwashers safe but easy to wipe clean with a sponge or even a wet paper towel.
01:34:19 I have done it. Metal utensil safe while slicker than come on a gold tooth. they just they combine all the best of everything with the worst of nothing and the you know after a while Brian I've noticed that previous cheaper more frivolous frying pans that I've owned in the past that the handle starts rattling does it ever do that to you when a handle starts it's a little loose it's I've had that happen it doesn't happen anymore with the fine hex clad products he's it well that's what I'm saying it's not going to happen anymore because this thing won't wiggle even if I hit several people with it now.
01:34:57 That Jehovah's Witness that came to the front porch the other day, I thought, sure, that would test that handle, but no, it's still wiggle free. And folks, right now, it's not free, but we can save you money, whether it's the hex-clad 12-piece set that you want, that gives you everything you need for hosting at home family dinners. Let's say you want to have a big dinner party. Well, you're going to get three versatile pans, two sides, pans in a family-sized stock pot.
01:35:28 So depending on the size of the family that you want to have for dinner, you may can get mom-popping two or three of the kids in there if the kids ain't too fat, and you can have that whole family for dinner. You can feed that whole family. You can feed that whole family with the five. Well, feed them first and crack them up. That way it'll be more feed on the bone. Again, I don't even think it was this before, but no cannibalism.
01:35:52 That was one of the promises we made off air. No more cannibalism. No more. Well, I just tried at a time or two, Brian. They've also got the six-piece set. If you don't want to cook that whole family, well, if you just want to upgrade the everyday essentials, then they've got the six-piece set,
01:36:12 which I don't think comes with the family-sized stockpots. So you maybe just put one or two of the family pets in the six-piece set. Again, this is no. No. Well, there's no sense in leaving them to fend for themselves when the family's been made into soup. But folks, hexclad is built for real cooking. If you're moving fast, cooking multiple things, trying to get the food done while people are hanging around, these pans are going to give you the better control without the cleanup being an entire whole project afterwards.
01:36:46 The laser-etched hexagonal surface makes it different. The stainless steel ridges help with searing and dirt. ability while the non-stick valleys help the food release early. All the food has premature ejaculation because of these special divots that are involved there. You can just feel these things. Just rub them and feel them, caress them and pet them. It's such a wonderful texture. Sometimes it'll start getting you all hot and bothered to just rub these,
01:37:19 these Hex Klan pans. Folks right now, head to Hex Klan. dot com slash JCE. Yes, that's where we wanted to go. That's where we're going, hexclad.com slash jce. All right, all the papers fell again. Ladies and gentlemen, all kidding aside.
01:38:23 That's the way Jerry Clower is you can scald a dog and none of his furniture, fur will stick in the pan there. Speaking of Jerry Clower, help me. Help me. How? 01:39:27 Hex-Klad! We'll be right back after this! Ha! Commercial break. I'm getting sleepy. Oh, let me turn us out. We're back. Ladies and gentlemen. I am communicating from the spirit world.
01:40:00 Still working out some of the kinks here with some of the new instruments here in the... I am your kinky spirit. I have been summoned. Who has summoned me? You know, this is reminding me of the night that Donny B. got on the mic in Yardville and said, Tommy, it's me, your mommy. I want my money back. And Tom Cassidy started selling it, looking to the ceiling, like talking to the spirit.
01:40:27 Well, because he did such a good impersonation of his mother. Did you ever deal with Tom Cassati? Yes, a couple of times. Officially, like, through the office, not even, like, outside of, like, you know, just. Oh, no, no, nothing about him was official, was it? No, but I just didn't know if he ever tried to book any talent. Like, hey. I think, well, the first couple of times he, but see, the thing is he booked,
01:40:49 he booked the headbangers, I know for sure, because I did paperwork on it, but he paid the booking fee even if he didn't run the show. And they got paid to hang out with him. Well, that was his thing. I didn't say anything. Wasn't that his thing? Like, he would book you to wrestle on a show and then you'd get there and there'd be no show. You just paid to hang out with him for a few days.
01:41:10 Yeah, he paid through. Three or four guys from Jersey, the Jersey area, to go to, like, where was it, some southern Aruba, Jamaica? Yeah, he's an island. I want to make you come to Bermuda or something like that. And just to go on a trip with him, because he was lonely. There are some stories out there, but we will get back to AEW now because this is a side road.
01:41:36 No one wants to go down. Jim, we have just. Well, I don't know about the HERS. Highway we're about to embark on. Well, again, we just finished the pants match, as it's now known. More AEW Russell Dream to fill your nightmares beginning right now. Well, now the six-man tag team title was on the line, and it was two out of three falls, because one fall is just not enough.
01:42:02 And, of course, they put a two-out-a-three-falls six-man tag team match on the same show where the entire premise of their main event is having multiple falls, but nevertheless, it was Brodildo versus swerve and the New Day. And I've been fascinated by following the destruction, decimation, of dismantling of New Day as hot tag team coming from the biggest company with a lot of history and a ton of sympathy based on the fact that they were jacked around by the evil corporate overlords, and now he's pretty much completed making them another two of the boys.
01:42:49 So let's break this down a little bit. The first fall, and I was wondering if any of these guys that would have ever been in a two out of three fall match before, and I've been bandito in Mexico, but obviously, would there have been any, reason that New Day would have ever had a two out of three-fall match in the W.W.E. I don't remember one, but again, I wasn't a big fan of there, so there's a lot
01:43:15 of stuff I didn't watch. Bandito may have in Ring of Honor. I'm not sure. Well, and Mexico, they do it regularly, so he doesn't count, but Paige was a lost ball in high weeds scream and find me from this thing. But anyway, he was their top guy. It's easy to forget, like, he was the one who stopped Moxley. He was the one who got the belt out of the briefcase at the big show in Texas, I think. And now he's got a haircut
01:43:45 and he's just kind of hanging out in the Trio's division. I mean, again, Tony does weird things. It just seems like a bit of a step back right now. Well, again, basically, this whole thing is New Day have teamed up with a fucking heel that was a heel until he started acting like a baby face when he teamed up with a new day. but he and Page still hate each other.
01:44:06 And this is the whole premise. Boring baby faces doing boring shit to each other until Paige and swerve getting a fist fight and then that's exciting and their partners immediately separate them so there's no fighting in a fucking wrestling match. Who the fuck came up with this? What?
01:44:31 Commentary. This is one of the, commentary highlights of the night. I think it was Excalibur and I don't even know if it was Chavani who was filled with stupid comments all night. It was someone else maybe. And Nigel says, well, he burned his house down. And Excalibur goes, well, he tormented his child.
01:44:49 Man, that's the stuff we say to make fun of this. And like, they're seriously talking about it. And it's impossible to hear and not laugh. And these guys now are in a position where they all can think of original shit to do and do it whether it makes any sense in that situation or not. And this was another place where I know the crowd was deathly quiet in between a few brief interludes of Falderall. But there was a double cold tag by Kofi to Creed and Brody to Bandito and not a soul
01:45:25 made a sound. It wasn't a fart. There were points where the crowd would pop. when it looked like somebody really got hurt, otherwise, and they're watching the gymnastics. A Creed's comeback when he made it was nice and peppy, but it got at first Stony Silence, which built to minor indifference,
01:45:47 but it, hey. And they went about 10 minutes of the first fall, and then New Day double-teamed Bandito and pinned him one, two, three. And then they just started, wrestling again. There was no rest period between falls. They just kept going and they double teamed bandito again and made a cover and Page saved, but now Swerve was the heel because he's using the referee to put Page out. But then Page tagged in and here we go with Page and Swerve and they
01:46:26 started with fake girl punches. Just swinging with no oomph. I don't. And then they did some gymnastics and then more girl punches. Then they would do dangerous spots and kick right out. But when they punch each other,
01:46:48 it's like they're afraid to potato each other. I don't know what the fuck is going on with this. Knox was the referee, so he's complete shit. So they just did moves over and over by everybody. And then Bandito beat Creed for the second fall in four minutes. So they were one and one.
01:47:10 But then everybody stopped instead of keep going like they did before, where they would just all sell or lay there or wave at the crowd, whatever they were doing. And then they got in a fight on the floor so that Page and then Bandito could jump off the top onto the idiots waiting for them on the floor while they stood there dumbstruck. and then they did kind of a slow-paced six-way on the floor where they could do all the contrived,
01:47:39 ridiculous phoniness and tight-rope walk the barricade for no reason. There was no sense of a contest or flow or continuity or tags or rules, just endless moves done by one guy after another. There were also no fans cheering for somebody to win. There was nobody booed. who in a heel and wanted to see him lose? There was nobody wanted to see anything except just people fall on their fucking heads.
01:48:11 And I mean, footsteps in the ring were louder than the crowd. I don't, at one point, Paige gave, um, oh, which one? Somebody, the dead eye on the apron. Who would it have been? God damn it, because I've skipped over writing their fucking name down.
01:48:34 Kofi. I bet it was. Kofi. But as he gave Kofi the dead eye on the apron, Swerve came off the top with a double stomp on page and tattered him right in the face. And then at some point, Kofi would get back up from the hospitalization angle and different guys would just start getting in the ring
01:48:59 and start doing shit to each other without tagging while Knox stood there and just gaped at him in one spot. And then they did a big double back flip off the top rope and then suddenly Bandito just pin swerve, one, two, three. So already they got shoehorned into this stupid six-man tag title thing and then won these belts. And now they've already beat them for these BS belts to begin with. What the fuck?
01:49:36 and I would love to be in the room for the first three or four hours of Tommy Young telling Rick Knox what a piece of shit he is and exactly in granular detail everything he does wrong that would be worth all the money that I fucking have but meanwhile I regret watching this shitty fucking match I'll put up the money for the video rights
01:50:05 Yeah, I really didn't care too much for this match. I was already kind of falling asleep. There's obviously a post-match where swerve and the new level are not on the same page anymore. They could be, I guess, the new page now, but when they team up with Adam Page, there we go, the new page. Who else can they team up with and have an interesting name?
01:50:29 What's more fun than a match? A new model. But now, wait a minute, you make that sound better than it was, basically the post match fucking new day try to give the fucking belts to the other goofballs and swerve said they don't deserve it
01:50:45 he fucking dropped Paige's belt in the middle of ring and walked off now they it was uncontrollable they couldn't wait to get near each other so they could get in a fist fight 15 minutes beforehand but now the motherfucker drops the belt in front of the guy
01:51:01 just walks off and Paige lets him I would Hey listen, I understand. I wouldn't want to hand the belt a prize to the man that burned down my house. Would you? Well, no, but then he, you know, I thought they made amends about that
01:51:18 because of the terrorizing of the baby. They were even. He upped the ante with the burning of the house. There still has to be something to even it out. I don't know what it will be. Hopefully it's going to be prescribed by a licensed medical professional. And you were right, the crowd was dead for part.
01:51:36 Wow. That's the other thing. When you're tired and you're watching wrestling and the crowd, even if they're not tired, there is quiet as you as you're tired. It kind of hurts like the enthusiasm. I get to a point, usually with the semi-final match on an AEW show, where I'm like, just end it or right. Please, I got to go to bed at some point.
01:51:56 Just get to the fucking main event. Well, when this was over, they were four hours into this thing with the pre-show. which contained, as we mentioned earlier, 24 fucking guys and then a tag match that continued into the pay-per-view. So it's constant. It doesn't stop. Speaking of not stopping, for the Continental title,
01:52:20 not the Intercontinental title, but just the Continental title. It was Plummer Moxley against fat-ass Davis. Remember when Davis and Doyle for about a week and a half there could have been the top heel tag team? when Davis and Doyle and Wardlow were in a six man they're the biggest people in the company
01:52:41 why aren't they killing everyone who will stop these men they're gigantic but instead he never wins he beat Moxley on dynamite he got the pin in that six man match but big deal well then anyone I remember he got it last Wednesday
01:52:58 with the pile driver I said the first time a year and a half he's been there it's the first time he beat anybody with it. So now they have the match again so Moxley can beat him in the end. It is the same as ever. They, it's Moxley's thing. They start out wrestling so he can act like he's Billy Robinson. There's going to be a lot of chops and a lot of fake forearms. And then, I know it's a cliche that Moxley has to bleed, but the spot it was early in the match. Davis runs and as Moxley is sitting in the corner hits an obviously fake driving forearm
01:53:38 because the camera you could see what he was doing because he did it two or three times in a row he's making the quick motion past and he's bumping Moxley with his like his forearm and Moxley rolled to the floor right so the camera stays on Davis in the ring for like 30 seconds and the announcers then say a Moxley is rolled over
01:54:03 between us, he's in bad shape and then they go to a camera shot of Moxley with blood pouring out of his head like it had just started seconds before because it's running so fast that there's not much of it yet and why?
01:54:22 He didn't hit him anywhere near where he would have busted his head open So Moxley just rolled out and gigged himself some place that was convenient, ignoring the fact that nothing that the guy had done came near the spot that he was bleeding from. Did you, am I just nitpicking Brian, or was this kind of what you thought when you saw it? Maybe he's got death jitsu Jedi powers, man. I'm silly Robinson.
01:54:58 So, no, yeah, no, I mean, you knew he was going to bleed, you knew it, and, you know, he wants to, he, the Moxley matches around Moxley doing Moxley stuff the way Moxley likes, and that's what this was, including the whole dramatic thing at Ringside at the end. Well, and then, that's dramatic. Moxley got to sell now, because he's bleeding, and for some reason, he's a baby face instead of a heel now so he can sell, because sometimes. he's Wild Bull Curry, other times he's Ricky Morton. And there was a spot, Davis put
01:55:34 a sleeper on him looser and gentler than I hug Buddy. And then there was 10 fake, I underlined fake, punches in the corner. But now Moxley's covered in blood and he's growling and he's making faces. And again, I noted the crowd is so quiet that wrestlers' footsteps
01:55:53 drown them out. I don't know what the W.W.E. saw in this fucking stiff to begin with back when he had hair. But if not for Tony Kahn, right now, Moxley would be working garbage shows and sharing drunk tanks at three in the morning with his fucking hero Nick Gage. And so then,
01:56:17 Davis did the pile driver on the apron. And it looked great, and Moxley went head first to the floor, and that would have been a wonderful hospitalization angle bump. But instead, Moxley crawled around on the floor, overacted, made more mean faces, and suddenly rolled in at nine, got kicked once, rolled back out, and growled and sat there and thought about quitting, and Marina Schaefer gave him a pep talk. And this took like well over a minute. And Davis was just waiting. And then the guy, Moxley, the guy that he was fighting, had a minute to rest on the floor, rolled back in the ring and started beating Davis up. And then they started trading forearms and headbutts and clotheslines.
01:57:11 And I wrote, this won't end at 17 minutes already. And then after all of it had been done, Moxley stood up, put his hands behind his back, and dared Davis to hit him multiple times, it a row. And I wrote, I'm fast forwarding to the finish. This guy is a fucking moron. And after like another four or five minutes,
01:57:39 wouldn't you know who won the pony? Moxley got the choke, held it forever in the same place. Davis stood up and then sank down and passed out. After all those big moves and all that bullshit they did, the most boring finish in existence again, and then Moxley pitched another fit because he was overcome with emotion. And he's taking the loss of PAC terribly hard.
01:58:10 He was overcome with emotion. I was overcome with nausea. And this is the point where I said, I got to take a break and come back to this show later on because I can't stand to watch the main event. This thing had to go 25 minutes. The official time, 23 minutes, 30 seconds. Jesus Christ.
01:58:36 But yeah, so Moxley wins again with the most boring finish in the world in the most boring way possible after nothing else that's ever been done in a wrestling ring worked. Yeah, not surprised by the result. The Moxley being unsure of himself and feeling insecure thing was an interesting twist that they immediately cured and fixed the same night that they introduced it. So I guess that's that. Moxley wins. What else can we say?
01:59:07 Yeah. Yeah. But what we forgot to talk about was after the sixth man was over and they had their little disagreement with each other, then there was the introduction of the brand new AEW talent.
01:59:26 And I swear to God, they got something and then they cocked this one up too because it was the most odd, out of place, unnecessary introduction. Renee was out there. Here's the newest member of AEW. Didn't say a name. Didn't introduce anybody.
01:59:51 They had a shot of a, what was the metronome for? Was that just like Tick, Tick keep coming? To keep time, he may be a drummer. Then the lights went out, then the music played, and it's Ilya, Elya, Elyon Dragonov. And his name was on the screen. The announcers talked about it. They just apparently didn't tell Renee.
02:00:14 He comes out in a suit, and he's excited, and he goes to the ring, and the fans are popping, and the fans are standing. And he goes to all four sides of the ring, and Pyrro blows off. And he weighs off. like he's conducting the music and blue kisses to the crowd. And everybody's like, yeah.
02:00:35 And then he got out of the ring and went up the aisle and left. Never said a goddamn word. That was it. What? Didn't even turn the lights on. He went to the ring and they had like the whole light show going and then he left the ring. There was never a point where like there was just a spotlight on him to see him. pleasant surprise they got the name.
02:01:00 I thought they would definitely get Ilya, because I think that's his, but Ilya dragon. He must have used that before. I guess so. They got that name, though. Because they wouldn't. You know, he's really talented,
02:01:16 and he's about to have 25-minute competitive matches with everybody, where they're going to kick out of everything for the last five minutes and beat the shit out of each other. I just hope he goes a year without getting hurt and a place where everyone gets hurt. But again, here, what was the purpose of this? If you introduced the new talent and he came out and did an angle to kick off his run
02:01:42 in the company, okay, I can see that, that can apply. But just to come out on a pay-per-view that nobody knew he was going to make his entrance on just to wave at everybody, since nobody knew he's going to be here to begin with, nobody bought it with thought of being seeing him so therefore nobody's going to be disappointed would you not have come out announced ladies and gentlemen Wednesday night on dynamite see the debut of eilia karyakin and then everybody would tune in to see when they knew he was going to be that then but they might get a rating silly me did they announce anything for him on dynamite is he wrestling is he doing anything well i hope not
02:02:25 not because he hasn't even said a word yet. Why would he need to come introduce him, give him his chance to speak and give us his motivation before he put him in a main event where somebody's going to kick the shit out of me for 20 minutes. Who they're going to put him in there with? I hope it's not Jericho. We'll see. We'll see what they do.
02:02:46 Yeah, yeah, we'll see. Well, do you have a big night of introductions and pants wrestling. There's still a main event where they're a brand. new stipulation or a brand new gimmick match, a brand new concept coming from the mind of Will Osprey and the executive producer Tony Conn. Cocked up carnage is what the main event was. At four and a half hours into this event with the pre-show, they then start this thing. And God, I don't have the rules written down, but they, they, they, they,
02:03:25 two guys start and they go for three minutes and then every three minutes after that, another one enters. So it's like the war games thing. But then if anybody gets pinned or submits, they're out of the match, but the match can't be won because after they're all in, then a 15 minute time period starts where whoever gets the most falls in 15 minutes, then wins the thing. And obviously there's no rules of any kind to speak of in the way of. disqualifications or things like that.
02:04:00 I guess the only rule was you had to be pinned in the ring. The pinfall couldn't happen outside the ring. Oh, yeah, yeah. So they thought to close that important loophole. So Osprey came out first, the world champion, the AEW title on the line, and our boy, Take a Shit, came out second. Remember when he could have been somebody?
02:04:21 He could have been a contender. I said that the other night. when he's just one of the guys that you never hear from him because he can't speak and he doesn't do anything except when he shows up every once in a while. So the bell rang for this thing four hours and 39 minutes into the show, and I swear to God they started trading forearms. I wrote what in the actual fuck? 21 of them.
02:04:51 And only one actually landed or was sold. and that was Osprey's last one. Nobody took a bump or went to a knee. This whole roster is filled with guys who dreamed of one day pretending to be pro wrestlers. The boyhood dream of pretending. And you know he was pretending, pretending to throw a blow. Again, this is just the beginning of the match
02:05:23 and obviously they're going right to the heavy stuff. And every three minutes was it, every three minutes another competitor. Every three minutes. So a couple of flips, couple of dives, the same shit that I've been looking at for four hours,
02:05:39 lots of legs slapping on the strikes. The arena was dead silent, except for the slaps were the loudest thing. And then if there might be a dangerous bump, but both guys are baby faces. There's nobody to really root against then number three
02:06:02 little Michelle steamboat comes in another baby face even if a completely unlikable baby face but now it's gone from a world title match made event to a fucking joke because look at the state of him that's why if there was still gatekeepers like there ought to be in pro wrestling he's a guy that would have been tossed in a hefty bag
02:06:26 and thrown off a bridge so then two baby faces double teamed the other baby face to complete indifference from the fans in the audience and then take rolled out and then Osprey and old Hong Kong fooey looked at each other sideways like we're about to hook up literally as a matter of fact there was sexual tension and their eyes come on come on come on
02:06:56 but take rolled back in and leveled both of them and the fans didn't care, but it's cute watching spitball try to bow up like a grown adult man. Then number four, Ricoschay. At least he's a heel, but good God, when I was a manager, and even before I got fat, I was six inches taller and 50 pounds heavier than two of the guys now going for the AEW World title.
02:07:29 So then Rikishay and Hong Kong Foui did a pairs floor exercise routine. And then Fooey and Osprey took about three days to set up letting take a shit, suplex both of them off the top rope. And then it was time for number five, Darby Allen. Now we got, there's four baby faces and one heel. Why didn't they all just kick the shit out of ricochet and beat him immediately?
02:08:01 But the first thing Darby did was a skateboarding. trick off of ricochet and then he pulled a table out from under the ring that got a pop why pay the wrestlers the appearance of a table got a louder response than any of the fucking wrestlers so far just buy a furniture store and nobody will hold you up for a raise so i put it on two like double speed for the rest of derby's segment because why number six was okada now double speed looked normal because it's a slow motion motherfucker they gets lazier every time i seem okada got in with osprey and they traded four arms only eight of them but nobody landed one and nobody went down and i i wrote i dare one of you
02:09:02 no talent vagrant-looking motherfuckers to do anything original and non-fake-looking. Like have a goddamn match instead of a glorified square dance punctuated by standing there and hitting each other but not hitting each other. So Okada did as little as he possibly could with the same confused fucking look on his face
02:09:28 and everybody else did five times too much. And then they beat Bailey and he was out. Thank you. And then number seven, Edge, got a huge pop. And they cut his music, but the fans were singing his song word for word while he and Rikishay were doing spots. I know it's good they like his song, but should they be singing his song when the wrestling action that he's in is happening? When you asked a lot of those fans when they were buying their tickets and thinking about coming, what are they looking forward to?
02:10:10 I bet you one of the things was to sing Jericho's song and to sing Edge's song. Probably more than the matches. And it's a weird, like they film like different people in the crowd. And it's like this aspirational stare. Like, you know, they're really getting into it. It's almost like a Christian rock concert. You know, like you feel like they're really feeling this song. And then it ends it.
02:10:32 the silence again. And then they applaud. They applaud themselves for singing it. For singing. And maybe then they're waiting for the resurrection. So Edge got cut off early and so did the excitement. And then Okada clothesline take a ship from behind and beat him one, two, three, and he was out. I would have dumped Okada.
02:10:59 Why do they protect this fucking... Then everybody got a two count on everybody, and then number eight, the last guy, Samoa Joe. Who should just beat everybody? I mean, my God, he's the first grown adult man under 50 years old besides Osprey to come in the match. So then he dodged ricochet's dive, made a big comeback on everybody, muscle buster Darby, one, two, three. but now since all eight of them are in, Darby's not out. But then Joe Muscle Buster Darby
02:11:42 and pinned him one, two, three, and then Rickashay snuck over and covered Darby and pinned him one, two, three. This is a guy that got blown up. It's a guy that survived everything, but now he's pinned twice off one move. What? This is the problem with this match.
02:11:59 It sounds good when you're a mark in your basement playing wrestling booker, potentially also higher than giraffe pussy. But when you actually implement it, it looks stupid based on the logic that you've previously created in your own universe. Then Okada closed land edge and beat him one, two, three. Then Okada gave Osprey a tombstone pile driver,
02:12:34 the guy with the bad neck that almost put him out, the sympathy of coming back after the surgery, Tombstone Pile Driver picked him up, tried to close line him at Osprey after the tombstone foiled the clothesline and gave Okada a big move, like nothing had happened, and then move after move by everybody. And sometimes they'd sell them and sometimes they wouldn't. And then Osprey Stiles clashed ricochet, one, two, three,
02:13:04 but then when Osprey rolled off the cover, Darby coffin dropped Osprey off the top rope, one, two, three. What the, a tombstone didn't beat the guy with the bad neck, but one coffin drop after he's given somebody else a move, he's toast. Do you see what I'm looking at here, Brian? Do you, do you see what I'm seeing with my own little eyes?
02:13:36 Yeah, and this is a show. showing multiple 20-minute matches. All of a sudden, everyone could pin everyone right away. Immediately. But, you know, I will give a positive. I did like the little thing at the bottom of the screen is showing everyone's score. Oh, they had lovely graphics.
02:13:50 Lovely graphics. But then everything came to a halt for Edge and Darby to face off and go to shake hands. And Darby, Suckers, Edge, and Irish whipped him from the handshake and took him down and pinned him one, two, three.
02:14:10 And now, what the, now, Darby's a heel. He suckered the only over baby face in the fucking company at this point. Then Osprey and Darby do a big flip, and Osprey pinned Darby again, one, two, three. Darby has been beaten more in this match than when he was blown up, set on fire, tombstoneed off the roof, and goddamn run over with a truck. And then they had 10 minutes left still.
02:14:41 And Rickashay and Osprey were alone in the ring. And everybody else was just outside on the floor, laying there for no reason. Otherwise, it wasn't their time to perform yet. Then Rikoshe carefully helped Osprey gingerly balance on the top rope. And they held hands to do this so that Rickettsay could jump up and Hurricane Rana him off the top rope. Why didn't he just sit down?
02:15:08 on it. Sit down on it. If you really want it, sit down on it. Then Rickashay walked around because all the other people had just disappeared in this match and they did some more flips. And then Rickashay
02:15:24 jumped out on the floor and beat the other people up for a second and jumped back in so that he and Osprey could continue to do the tumbling until Edge speared Rickash off the apron through a table to the floor. But then, Then Samoa Joe's in with Osprey and Osprey tries the cutter.
02:15:46 And Joe walked off on it once and he tried it again and he walked off on it again. He made Osprey the baby face world champion look like an idiot. Yes, once, not twice. Then Joe held Osprey into sleeper forever while everybody else laid on the floor and Osprey tapped out. So now they beat the champion twice with again with. Joe, I think he should have won the whole thing. But what just,
02:16:19 then Edge speared Joe, one, two, three. And then immediately speared ricochet one, two, three. So suddenly, Edge went from not having any pins to, in the space, 15 seconds given two. And that kind of got the people up. And then Osprey got a bunch of false finishes on Edge. and Edge went for a spear, but Okada hit him with a drop kick, but then Edge speared him. But then Osprey, at the last fucking second, came over and elbowed Edge after Edge had speared
02:17:00 Okada and then pinned Edge. So Osprey won three falls, and it had picked up with Edge's run at the end where the people got back into it because they like him. But then Yasprey beat him. Did anybody beat that fucking worthless piece of shit lazy, good for nothing,
02:17:25 excuse for a breathing human being Okada? In all of the, the world champion got beat twice. Darby got beat 16 times. Did anybody beat Okada at all? What has he got pictures of Tony with a goat? On a boat?
02:17:46 Maybe. In a moat. I don't know. There is something to be said for the idea that Will Osprey came up with the concept for the match. Let it be known that it was his concept. Was the first entrant in the match and then won the match. And then won the match. It's like Dusty Roe.
02:18:09 I mean, Dusty Roads would have done that. Yeah, and then he and Ed shook hands. This was Osprey. He had shook hands after that. Yeah, he's going to win the, he's going to win the carnage bunkhouse cocked-up continental classic every year. You know, there's something there as a concept, the idea of some kind of match where the opponents would hypothetically be tired out except for the eighth person.
02:18:35 and then a period of time where pins don't end the match, pins give you points. There's something there if you're not a company that has 20-minute competitive matches up and down the card where no one can pin anyone. Everyone kicks out of everything, you know, until the very, very end. All of a sudden, everyone's getting pinned all over the point. Oh, there are 10 pinfalls in this?
02:19:01 Yeah, easily. Yeah. So, you know, I don't know. I'm not completely against the idea of the concept in some form. But if this is the case, why not make every match who could win the quickest? Isn't every match supposed to, the idea is supposed to be who can win the quickest? I thought it was supposed to be, but it's not working. Maybe you have to make it a stipulation.
02:19:26 Who can win the quickest? Because otherwise, what do we do? Again, why would they be able to do it here, but nowhere else? well it's the same thing with the nobody's allowed to interfere well how can you stop it sometimes and not stop it all the time because it's fucking fake and they were they were still making up matches for this show and qualifying for the match in this show the previous Wednesday night
02:19:59 three days beforehand and it still went five hours and 15 minutes every minute of it that was AW wrestle dream and I'm sure the dreams will continue on dynamite this week but Jim after an exhausting wrestle dream for the fans I might be talking about the wrestlers, the fans at home would just want to go to bed
02:20:23 you stay up late, you may eat crap you're fighting sleep during some of the matches the next day what are you going to do? You gotta make sure that you take care of your health You got to take care of your health. And if you're on the road, maybe a travel sachet to help you with your health, but we could talk about how we're good friends at IM8. Well, it is because it's all about your health.
02:20:48 It starts and ends with your health. It comes back to your health every time. You've got to keep good health, Brian. And people are not keeping good health these days, not only in the wrestling ring, constantly getting dropped on their heads, but outside the wrestling ring where the shows are so dadgum long, you've missed breakfast, you've missed lunch, and you're cutting corners on dinner. So you may be taking the supplements, but now there's all kinds of supplements, Brian. There's the multi-lettered vitamins, A, B, C, D, B-12, E-3, C-F-O-2,
02:21:20 whatever the case may be. And there's all the supplements like the grains and the nutrients and the natural thing. You're just, you're over-supplemented. You can't keep track of everything. If you take all these things in pill form, you'd rattle like a set of maraca. So our friends over at IM8 have generously offered to condense your routine 16 supplements,
02:21:47 16 supplements all in one easy to take drink, all in one easy to take drink made up with water in a shaker that they will send you. So they're doing everything but swallowing it for you. leading doctors and researchers have come up with this mixture that replaces, as I said, the 16 supplements that affect nine major organ systems in your body. Including your major organ, Brian, with the keys there, you might have 10. And so instead of spending all this time on your daily routine and maybe taking two of one and not of one of the other and you're all for cocked it up. up, you just take the IM8 and you pop it in your, your shaker there, and you put the water in and you shake it up and you drink it down. And it tastes great too. Stacey has immediately,
02:22:47 because she was on all the supplements, immediately has thrown them out the window. As a matter of fact, saw more healthy birds out back the last week or so than I've ever seen before. She threw those supplements out the window. Well, when the birds, they're working out too, because I think they're on the sauce also. They're getting big chests and the wings are just lumpy. But she started drinking these and boy, howdy, she's just feeling fast. She's turning cartwheels now, did a handspring off the roof. Thankfully, the gardening crew was there to catch her, just like all good people do.
02:23:28 they saw somebody on a high precipice, and they gathered the circle to catch her. She's feeling great. And I understand that Suzanne likes it too. As Suzanne, she's actually been taking her fencing lessons again, hadn't she? She's not been taking fencing lessons. Yes, she likes. He's got all the energy now.
02:23:47 The bottle, the mixer, as you called it. Yes, the shaker. That gets a big reaction. That is a very fancy and very nice shaker. Boy, I'll tell you what, it pops everybody. And folks, if you're just now intrigued about how you can save time, get all your supplements, stay healthy, keep all your organs from failing, and have a nice shaker to go along with it, and you could actually, you could do it for a malted milkshake or any other thing you wanted to put in there and shake up,
02:24:17 you just go to IM8health.com slash JCE right now and use that code JCE.E. you're going to get a free welcome kit, five free travel sachets, and 10% off your order of this incredible mix. What is this? Is this, would you call this a mix? Would you call this, it's a
02:24:39 package of materials that you will dissolve in water for your incredible benefit? A healthy powdery concoction. A healthy powdery concoction. Don't snort it now. Don't do that. Put it in water.
02:24:55 and then drink it. Don't snort it up your nose wet either. That'll really fuck up your sinuses. I saw this powder and it said you're supposed to give you energy so naturally, but you don't do that that way. Let's talk about the recommended uses and a... Yes. Words.
02:25:13 There's a promo code, I understand. I've been hearing things. Yes, it is. Well, you are hearing things because you stuck your I-M-8 in your ear because you wanted to keep brain health uppermost. but nevertheless, IMAidhealth.com slash JCE, use the go JCE. You're going to get 10% off your order plus a free welcome kit, which I assume is the shaker, and five free travel satchets

You might not be able to get back real quick. Sash. well, you can sashay over or fly or whatever you want to do. And folks, by the way, these statements that I have made have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. No.
02:26:08 Or really anybody else in any type of official capacity, and nobody knew what I was going to say until I said it. And this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. But if you take it, you'll stay healthy. except if you get a disease that it doesn't present. The promo code for all the good things this will do. And also, actually, if you drink this,
02:26:35 it won't cure anything you've already got. It won't keep you from getting anything. But at the same point, it won't even make anything you've got feel better, but you'll be healthier. General health is important. Yes, general good health across the board without getting any specifics on anything.
02:26:53 How about a specific promo code? Yes, there it is. Well, it's Santa. Said I had to read that. JCE is the promo code at IM8Health.com. I.M.8. Check it out today. All right, Jim.
02:27:14 You know, we had a lot of things planned for today. We were going to do the top 30s in 1994 again. Listener questions. We even have songs, but we went pretty long today. So we're going to get a few more things, but there'll be a lot of things returning. Yes. Next week on the show.
02:27:28 Things are here and then things are there. And I've got a thing for you. Have you heard about Tiger Jeet Singh? I saw something the other day and I didn't get a chance to go back and see what it was. He apparently injured a fan with a sword during his recent appearance in Japan. He's 82 years old. I saw that age here somewhere, but he went with Tiger Ali Singh. If you see a picture of him,
02:27:57 his body looks okay at a shirt and a hoodie, but goddamn, his face looks like he weighs 300 pounds. But apparently they were invited to be special observers for the pre-main event tag team match with Masakatsu Funaki and Tatsumi Fujianami. Oh, shit. Would he be 70? At least, I would think, yeah.
02:28:21 They defend, one of the greatest in-ring Japanese wrestlers of all time and one of my favorites long ago, but long ago. They defeated Mitsuya Nagai and Shiro Koshenaka, but when, I just want to read you this. Tiger Jit Singh's son and grandson accompanied him during his entrance. However, as he walked to the ring, the wrestling legend broke away from his family and ran toward the audience swinging his signature saber. Sing's son eventually got his father under control. How? However, he accidentally hit a fan on the forehead with the sword. Ringside doctors immediately attended to the fan,
02:29:04 who was later sent to the hospital in an ambulance. It was later reported the fans only suffered a minor injury. Now, Magumi Kudo, she was the promoter of this. She was the female wrestler for FMW in the 90s. Well, she was the promoter here, and she's got a statement. would you like to hear this about the sword, the fan being stabbed or impaled or whatever took place? Yeah, what does she say?
02:29:33 I believe there were shortcomings in our corner team set up. I deeply apologize for injuring the fans who came to enjoy the show. I'm truly sorry. And this is the way this is written. I think you were able to see the shin you all wanted to see. was it the sing possibly that they all wanted to see this was how did he not stab multiple people in like the 80s when the arenas were packed and people were running and they wanted him to chase them i didn't want it bruise of rody to hit them with the chain back then i have the answer
02:30:13 to that actually that's coming up next because well she says she continued however i'm truly sorry that he got injured as an organization we will do everything we can to address the situation. I guess they're going to sew him up, but the problem was back then people knew to fucking run. But 40 years after the fact, Tiger Jeet Singh comes out an 82-year-old man waving a fucking sword, right? Speaking to Tokyo sports after the event, an unapologetic Tiger Jeet Singh said, it was a mistake for him to be in front of me. It's his fault. You know that, right? all he had to do was get out of my way. And the wrestling legend son said,
02:30:58 the announcer was saying, please be careful. They were warning him it was dangerous, but he didn't move out of the way. I'm sure he won't make the same mistake again. Just like my father said, this was an accident. An accident caused by the mistake of the bewildered fan,
02:31:17 not in getting out of the way of this 82-year-old man with a goddamn sword. do you travel with a saber like that? How do you fly from Toronto or wherever to Japan with a sword? Well, he's holding it in his hand and it's a golden saber. It's got a golden, you know, the arm or the hand clasp thing that's on the end of it has a nice gold plate on it and it looks to be about four feet long. And if he was waving that son of a bitch, chances are he could cut you from asshole
02:31:47 appetite. But, yeah, apparently, the, the new fan base over there wasn't, wasn't smart to it, and they didn't get out of the way, and this fella got, he got chopped. Does the new fan base even know who Tiger Geet Singh is? How long would it have been since,
02:32:09 I know they have long memories for historic figures in Japan, but he's 82, and he's a rich, he's a rich guy, and he probably don't give a fuck whether they sue him in Japan, because he lives in Ontario. he hasn't wrestled in 30 years. Tiger Ali saying was
02:32:29 we were tasked with him 29 years ago in 1997. Ali, it's your mother. How's the trip going? Dad just stabs some guy in the head. Yeah. Oh, were there thousands of people there? No, there were a few hundred people there. Well, the show was held at the Yo-yogi National Stadium Gymnasium
02:32:53 number two in Shibuya, Japan. Does it have a crowd, an attendance? It did not. It was Megami Kudos' 40th anniversary. Yeah, she was the... Good Lord, there's a picture of her. She looks like she'd pass for 30. Yeah, she was a good-looking female wrestler in, like, FMW, like, they had no women's division. It was, kind of like WWF, there was one woman's match, and it would be her. And she wasn't bad. She was all right.
02:33:20 Yeah, but Jesus Christ, it was this picture of her, again. Again, it's her 40th anniversary in wrestling. She doesn't look 40. But boy, the Singh boys here are made up for it. Well, that's all I got. I just wanted to bring that up. I guess that tops Dory Funk Jr.'s last match in Japan. At least he didn't stab anybody.
02:33:41 He didn't get a chance to do that. Wow. Imagine if the Sheik was alive today. Running into the craft throwing fire a people. It would be burned fans left and right. Well, Jim. Yes. you're going to burning the fens.
02:33:57 WWWRWA took place again this week, and why don't we talk about what you saw? You know, I took notes on a lot of this because the boys were sitting in my lap. Buddy was curled up at his spot on the couch and the arm next to me where I cradle him with my left arm and Alfie was on my right side where I have to kind of put my pad on my lap and scribble. And there weren't a lot of this very interesting, but we can get to the meat of the matter if you like. They were in San Diego
02:34:28 and Roman pulled up in the back in his SUV at the top of the program and another SUV pulled up and Sammy got out and walked past Roman carried his belt. And I liked the first segment because Sammy is entertaining his shit. And he got incessant
02:34:50 booing from these people because they're into it. He didn't have to come out and dive through a table or, you know, almost kill himself. He just comes out because they are into Sammy as a personality. And he spoke briefly, and then Roman's music play. And it only took about three or four minutes for him to walk out to the ring and pace around. But there were fingers up and they're into him. and then I was afraid
02:35:24 we were going to get off on the bad foot because Roman said it's good to see you and they smiled and hugged and I thought oh God we see enough of that on AW but they were able to then build up to some animosity because they didn't go ahead what were you going to say I thought this was good because they didn't really hug Sammy kind of jumped in for the hug
02:35:44 well yeah and Roman tolerated it and kind of grinned like you know he's the same guy but you know he's like I miss having you around you little trained monkey. I like the idea of, you know, here's Sammy who went through his whole thing with the bloodline and with Roman and had that big match with Roman and Montreal.
02:36:01 Like here he is now he feels like an equal. I thought this is great. Yeah. Because that was the point as Sammy, you know, said, yeah, I came here because I had to tell you in person. You were right all along in the bloodline about the burden, the disrespect of being championed. I didn't realize till now,
02:36:20 until I got, you know, to this level, but you were right all along, and now they all think they're us. I get it now. And Roman is suffering this fool gladly at first, right, because they think they're us, right? And first, then he backed up, he said, well, hold on, we're getting ahead of ourselves.
02:36:40 Acknowledge me, they got a big pop, an OTC chance. And, you know, but that Sammy was, was basically said, I was thinking about the old days a lot. And Romans said, well, I got an opportunity for you. Because, you know, the most important title that you really ever had was honorary oos. So is Sammy, are you here to talk about these titles or you talk about 9-4-6? Are you here to come back and serve the bloodline?
02:37:15 And that's when Sammy said, well, the bloodline was great. But now that I'm the head of my own table. Roman over here on Smackdown. I'm the undisputed WW champion. And Roman said, well, that's a title, but this is the title. And Sammy's like, he pointed it out. I'm thinking Sammy's turning baby face to me against Roman here.
02:37:39 Sammy said, wait a minute. The A and the B titles have switched. It was, when you held this one, that was the title. And now you hold that one as the title. maybe you're being a little arrogant. And Roman said, well, maybe it's the man holding the title
02:37:56 rather than the title. And that belt ain't meant shit since WrestleMania 40. And now Sammy's mad. And he fired up. He did a great promo. And even he got the fans to start. Yeah, yeah.
02:38:11 Ribbon, what he said. Excellent example of frontier gibberish from Gabby Zane. And then Romans. see, you might not even have the belt by crown jewel time. Because Sammy's thinking, you're acting like I'm not a threat. I don't need to be threatened by you. What they have still not meant, they're still pumping crown jewel like it.
02:38:35 They're going and it's happening. And the closer they get, if they don't do it, it's going to look a little dodgy. But nevertheless, Roman said, you might not even have the belt by crown jewel. and then he left. And as he was leaving, Penta's music plays. And here comes Pinta
02:38:59 with the De Niro and the Blanco case or whatever. Did the face off with Roman, got in the ring, and did the face off of Sammy and then Sammy left because he can pick either one he wants, sadly enough. Again, they're going for the Hispanic market, but the Kentucky market don't want to see Penta
02:39:21 against either one of these fucking guys. But the opening segment, they got off on the right foot with Roman and Sammy. I enjoyed their little discussion. I enjoyed this a lot. I hope we get more Roman and Sammy interacting again soon. I don't know if we will.
02:39:39 Obviously for Crown Jewel, that would be the main event. Or if not Crown Jewel, for Night of Champions. That would be the main event as of this moment today. I really like that and Well, no, that is Crown Jewel, right?
02:39:52 Is it Crown Jewel or is it Night of Champions? No, it's Crown Jewel. Oh, it's Crown Jewel. Oh, okay. Yes, because they'll be the Crown Jewel champion. Do the world champions wrestle each other at Night of Champions too? Or they just have a title matches? I don't remember.
02:40:05 Well, no, the Night of Champions is where they just have title matches out the ass. But the Crown Jewel is where they have the two champions wrestle each other to be the Crown Jewel champion that has only wrestled for or defeat. defended or contested for or mentioned once a fucking year because they pay $55 million for their own fucking title. That they have to leave over there. Yeah. That's when you know Saudi Arabia's in trouble when you start seeing like the
02:40:31 huthies on social media running around with a world championship belt. They stole the belt! They got the belt. Who will get the belt back? See, that would be good booking. I'm going to disagree with you on this and I'm a convert. but looking at the reactions, Pent is getting over more and more, it seems.
02:40:51 Oh, I know. There's some people like to have their balls nailed to stepstools, but I don't give it. His basics are shit. We're about to talk about the match with him and Braun. One of the first things, just a weak shoot-off from a headlock. He can do all the flips, but the, the simple stuff, the basics are rotten.
02:41:13 His timing is about a half a beat, off, in my opinion. And the goddamn shit that he has to come up with to do that's different looks so ignorant. It might be snazzy for the fucking Cook County Fair Spot Show, but on national television, Braun Breaker having to lay there for it is, eh. But on the positive side, Braun Breaker has great heel attitude. And he's very vicious on offense. whatever. And he hit the Brekensteiner this time without falling on his heads. That's a point in his favor.
02:41:56 But basically it boiled down to Penta hit him with a kick and hit his finish and got a two count. And then here came model girl in theory and they drew Penta's attention. But Penta kicked theory and kicked Braun, but then Braun speared Penta and got a two count. But then the girl drew the referee. and theory got the case, but Javan came out and nailed theory and then nailed Braun with the briefcase, and Penta hit him with a Mexican destroyer one, two, three. It was a good finish that gave Braun an out, but, you know, I'm not the market they're shooting for with Penta. And again, Penta has a title shot coming up against one of the champions. We'll see when that happens, but Raw rolls on.
02:42:45 They had a girls tag match, then J.D. McDonough wrestled Joe Hendry, then they had a girls match, then some girls talked to Pierce in the back. Did you see how this show was kind of moving along quickly for me at this point? And then they had an Intercontinental Title match, a triple threat match with Ray Mysterio and Chad Gable and Dragon Lee. Aren't all three of them baby faces and isn't Ray Mysterio and Dragon Lee kind of friends? Yes. So they beat each other up for 20 minutes, then Gable won and beat Ray,
02:43:24 and then they hugged and shook hands and raised arms. So it was great for athletic displays, but why? And then Ethan Page and big ass came out and jumped all three of the baby faces and beat him up. And again, Ethan Page is neither great nor rotten. He's kind of there.
02:43:49 Cass is useless. What is the insistence on trying to make him a thing that is happening? Oh, he's tall. You know, it's kind of like being a left-handed pitcher. You always get a chance. Well, in this case, he needs to take his left hand, put it behind his back and shake his right hand, and then put his head between his legs and kiss his ass goodbye.
02:44:12 What do you think about pairing him up with Ethan Page? You know, it's interesting. Ethan Page is actually taller than a lot of the guys on the roster at this point. So I don't know if he needs a tall muscle. And I'm, I guess I'm just assuming they'd put them together. They had both attacked. I don't know if they're together or not, but.
02:44:26 Well, that's the first I've seen of them conversing, whatever. Maybe they worked something out in the back. So then it was time for the real mate event. The street fight is not sanctioned and nobody knows it's going to happen until they leave 10 to 12 minutes for it at the end of the show. So the Uso's pulled up in an SUV. why didn't they come with Roman? Why didn't they get there?
02:44:53 Because Roman had already left by this point. We saw Roman leave in an SUV. Roman gets there when the show starts and leaves less than an hour into the show. The Uso's get there when the show's already two hours in. And they had a chair and a bat. And they walked through guerrilla
02:45:16 and entered the ring to the to the, entered the ring to the, or entered the ring to the, arena. Entered the arena and went to the ring. We got a slambulance commercial for the phony slambulance, the phony ambulance with the breakaway roof you can drop your action figures into.
02:45:36 And we come back from the break and they're standing in the ring and they screamed and yelled and they called them by name and they called out the 9-4-6. And here came 9-4-6 slowly through the arena. four guys and a woman against the two Uso's why was it a good idea for them to call these motherfuckers out and then Hobbs got up on the announced desk and said
02:46:06 when is your dumb ass is going to learn ain't nobody safe and then suddenly solo appeared and jerked Hobbs off the desk and beat the shit out of him and the Uso's were beating up the other heels and then solo went to Spike Hobbs, but Carmelo Hayes hit him with a crowbar,
02:46:29 Hayes with a crowbar, and then all the heels beat up the baby faces. And then the girl got in with the handcuffs, and Hobbs says, tell Roman Raines that I'm coming for him, and then Roman's music plays. And that got a big pop, because again, it's still been a little eh,
02:46:51 but not only did it get a big pop because it's Roman, but they thought because what they played on the screen, that he had already left the building. And he walked out, and then they did the face off, and the Uso's and Solo staggered up, and it was four on four, and then they broke into a fight, and the bloodline cleared the ring,
02:47:14 and they got the OTC chance, and 9-4-6 left the building licking their wood, and it got over with these people, much more than the dreariness that they've been doing has in the other places. So there you go. The beginning and the end, what more can you want from a two and a half hour show? Obviously, they're setting up war games. What do you think about this for a war games match?
02:47:43 Well, that's what it's going to be. But I'm assuming Jacob will come back and what are they going to put the girl in? is the fifth member of 946? Well, you have Naomi still at some point you would think if they're going to do anything with the girl? I don't think Naomi would team with 946. I don't think they're going to put a girl in the war games match. In terms of Jacob, I don't know.
02:48:04 It almost feels like when he comes back, it has to be some kind of swerve or something. Well, then they've only got four and four. You need five and five to have the war games. Well, who would the 9-4-6 other guy be? That's what I'm asking you. What is this, Abbott and Costello? now you're Brian Alvarez now you don't even listen to me I'm just a raving demented old uncle
02:48:26 it's not my job well say yes this is obviously going to be because the people know by now that they set up some gang warfare for the fucking war games rather than making it come naturally out of the angle that's going they have to fill the slots into war games to have the war games match they back up and figure out who to put in it rather than having guys that have to have a war games match. Well, there it is. WWRWA action heating up with the bloodline and the 9-4-6 or just 9-4-6.
02:49:05 Heyman said they were only in the third inning. Turns out he may have been right. This just is going on and on into extra innings. That was raw. It's about as exciting as a baseball game that goes 16 innings, too. A quick update for everyone. Pat Tanaka still has not arrived for the, show. Does he get any closer?
