02:53Now, he had the thriller plaque sitting on the floor along with like some other things. It was looking like they was rearranging that particular area. And I said, I said, Mike, you just got the thriller plaque on the floor like that?He was like, oh, it's nothing, yeah. You want it?He said, do you want it?Did you take it?Get the, come.
03:16Yo, Swiss, get the f***.Yo, come on, hold on.You know, let me get that. You know I wanted it.Of course. You know what I'm saying? But you didn't want to feel like you was asking.I didn't want to be thirsty.
03:28How are you going to say that?Like, all right, God.Like, you got to remember. But like, in my mind, I'm gonna get back to that later.Got you. We're about to work on music. He wanted to work with AK.We're about to produce a song together.
03:39Got you. This is our first time in his house. You know what I got a little bit of manners.Got you.Okay.Okay.Right?You know I want to.
03:48I seen myself taking it when I said no.Of course.Mike would have gave it to you.I stepped out of my body and took it and put it back. You said, I took it and put it back, my digger. You know what I'm saying?Like, right? So I was like, he was like, you want?
04:03I said, no, it's okay.Fuck Swiss.God damn.I wish I was watching.I bet, but.Like, your Swiss, Toma son that shit. That would have been in the art collection, man.Come on, bro.
04:15We ain't know Michael wasn't going to be here.Of course, definitely. You understand?Definitely, definitely, man.And we was like this at this point now.Start building that relationship for real.We are already talking about the next time we're going to connect.Got you.
04:26I'm doing the, we're doing the Jets form.We was already locked in.You know what I'm saying? And so, and I didn't want to look thirsty in front of my white.Well, she would have had to understand that.I don't think you would have to look thirsty getting a thriller pack.Yeah, you wouldn't have been good.Yeah, you wouldn't be good, man.
04:41I agree with you, Jay.I agree, you wouldn't be good.He didn't get to be a kid.He didn't get stopped.Right.Shut the shit.Okay.Provin.
04:50Role!Who you get movies with?Oh!Brimble!Bro!Right.You got my friend.You don't have a video.
04:57I would get a little.I was a lot.Out my f***.My son.Yeah, it's the Talk of New York, Tony A.O.And it's the Boy Uncle Murder, aka Lairjet-Jet Lennie. And right now, we in the building with one of the best beat makers in the world. He's done did records with Osley brothers, Monica, the locks.
05:19He's part of Rough Riders, the mastermind of Rough Riders.Make some noise for Switch.Beats in a Switch.Oh, whoa.Swimpsy.Whoa.I appreciate you having you here, man.I don't know.
05:30I don't know where to start.I don't know if we should start off with the verses or we start. No, we gotta start with Rough Riders, man.Definitely, man.I remember like always looking up to you guys, Rough Riders as the label, because me and50, we was on the tour years ago. What year was that was the Rough Riders Cash Money?Ruff Ruff Rite cash money?
05:47Shit, that was, um.Definitely had to be like 9-9, something like that.Nine, two thousand probably.Yeah, that makes sense. And I remember being on that. That was like one of the major big tours I ever been on my life.50 at how to rob, we was the opening acts. That's crazy.
06:03So now I fast forward, I'm thinking about it.I mean, I remember seeing little Wayne and you on stage and DMX and the locks. How did the whole Rough Riders thing even like, like, how did you be a part of that andbe like, when did you start producing?Like, what's the story?Man, first of all, congratulations on both of you all.Thank you, my brother.Thank you, my brother.
06:22Thank you.You know what I'm saying?Like, I don't really do these joints too much.Yeah, well, not course, since I said, you don't really be doing no podcast just like this.Like, no.I'm like, well, yeah, a nigger needs you though, man.We appreciate you coming out.Definitely, man.
06:35I love when I see people come from where they come from to do, doing positive things.Right.You know what I'm saying? So this shit is positive. You know what?Thank you.So, you know what?Let's do it.
06:48Definitely, definitely, man. When you started making beats, man?Man, I started making beats when I was doing my mixtapes. So I started in the Bronx and I was making intros for my music.my mixtapes, I wanted to be like Ron G.I wanted to be like King Capri.Ron G number 10, not to cut you off. It's a classic.
07:07That was one of my classic mixedie.Shout to Ron G., Ron G number 10.I mean, you know, Duop and the Bounce Squad, you know what I'm saying?1,200 assassin, rest of peace. So I grew up in that era.And then so when you heard Duop in the Bounce Squad,he used to have Lord Tarit, the gun runners,
07:27all of those on his intros. So I was like, damn, I need to put some intros on my joint. And I was in Truman High School at the time, Co-op City. And so I was getting those artists from there to do my intros. And then I didn't even know I was making beats.I thought I was just doing intros. And then why my uncle, who started Rough Riders, was like,yo, you know what that's producing.
07:50You should like do that for real. And then that's when I started taking this.I still was more on the DJ side.I never knew that part.Okay, look at that.Yeah, you know what I'm saying? But I still, I still,I still, the DJing was still in popular demand.
08:04The producer was still like almost like a nerd job, like an engineer or somebody that's behind the scenethat's super technical. It wasn't the fly thing to do.And that's why when I came out as a producer,I made it look like an artist. You know what I'm saying? With like getting on the choruses,
08:21leaving me in the videos, doing all those type of thingsbecause the producer wasn't something.Looked at as cool.Yeah, I didn't even, I was like, you want me to be a producer, that shit felt boring.Right, right. You want to be, like, that's like,
08:33you want me to be a doctor, nigga, no.That's what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? But thank God I did that because, you know,I was able to do both.I could DJ when I want.I just put out a DJ all vinyl set,you know what I'm saying,
08:50on Soul Election Radio the other daywhere I'm just having funand taking it back to the essence of the vinyland the turntables, like where I started. You know what I'm saying?because the technology is cool, but you should always have the heritageof where all that came from.
09:05Yes, shit came from. You know what I'm saying? So making the vinyl shit look fly,I just thought it was dope. And now you see everybody going back to the vinyl.I do see that. What's the first beat you ever made? And I don't know.
09:16The first one I ever made didn't make it.You know what I'm saying? You know, like the first beat that I consider like,of success. But it changed your life. All of them. All of them. It's still today.
09:33You know what I'm saying?Over 680 million sold, you know what I mean?Definitely. But I hear that over 680 million sold.Yeah.I think the thing that, excuse me, changed me,was because niggas don't know, like,I started outside of Rough Rives, even though Rough Rides my family.
09:53I started with Rough Riders, but my team is so hardcore.hard core like you know what I'm saying like my family they just militant so likebeing that I was close I had it harder you know what I'm saying so everything Iplayed deep he'd like nah ain't it that ain't it I just got used to that shit youknow what I'm saying and so I started looking outside and so I think the firstjoint was the buster flip mode run for cover beat that started buzzing and then I didcam's album the first track with him and norrie called glory that started buzzing and thenI smacked them in the head with band from TV.
10:29Oh, yeah. That was a little bit.So it was like three shots.Bang, bon.Who was the nature, pun?Who else was on there?Kiss.Kisses on that too, yep.
10:38That was my shit right there.Yeah, that joined.Band from TV is just styles.Oh, it was the same.Snow.Sneak.Yeah, when band from TV came, the fam started taking me a little more serious.
10:48Oh, that's my nephew right there.Right.That was pun.Oh, D.M.Why I started taking you more serious at there?Yeah.Yeah.But that was, that was pun record, right?
10:57Was it?Nah, that was, yeah.Who had been from TV?That was pun reckoned. That was Norrie.Oh, Norrie reckoned.Yeah, that was Norrie.Yeah, that was Norrie.
11:06Yeah, that one, that, that, that record.I was a crazy. That's when the fan, start taking me more serious.Get over here.Yeah, the fan, like, yo, that's my nephew right there. What's y'all not?Right? So, you know, shout to Norie, shout the Buster.
11:22You know what I'm saying?Shout to Cam.You know, those is like, becauseCam was very close to my family. You know what my pop's work with Cam, Mace, McGruff,Children of the Corn.He managed Cass, he managed, you know, my dad's a manager. He started with Cool Herrick.
11:39Oh, shit.My pop's DJed in Ced Avenue with Cool Herrick. He met my mom's in the rec room where they say hip hop started, like literally.Damn.You know what I'm saying?Damn, look at that. That's like, it's been in my blood the whole time.
11:53And, you know, my pops, TD, they call them a nubberally. They call them a negotiator, you know what I'm saying?Shout to the negotiator. The negotiator.Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's so many stories though.Like, even when I'm sitting here thinking about,it's like so much shit we could talk about
12:08from that time to this time, you know what I'm saying?Because, you know, the ill part is to see so many generations, because I started at 16, my first hit was like 16 going into 17.I just turned 48, right? So that's a lot of time in between that, to see everything.to see everything.Definitely.You know what I mean?
12:28It's just like, because I started young, people always thought I was olderthan what I am.Like all my peers are older than me.You know what I'm saying?Like all the producers, they were always older than me,
12:37but I seemed older because I had an earlier start. You know what I'm saying? So that was like a good partjust seeing everything. So now when I see shit,I was like, yo, I've seen that before. You know what I'm trying to tell that?I was like, yo, don't do that.
12:48You definitely had to prove yourselfbecause you came at a time with what? There was what,Timberlin,Dre,what, Rockwale?just blaze, premier,Ferrell, all these guys.
12:59Forrell.So for you to come up, like, and make a name, what was that?Like, how did you feel like when you was accepted from, like, those peers, like the Timberlins and everybody, like, you was up there with them and still are?You know what I'm saying? With me.You know what I mean?Because we was all in our own bag and that's where you really had to be who you say you was.You know what I'm saying?
13:22And we all inspired each other, right? And that's why I said what I just said, because it was that type of sport. You know what I'm saying? And it was like something that you probably never would speak about.I'm not going to lie.Like, when I heard certain beats, I'll make 100 beats just, just so I had the answer to it.
13:43You know what I'm saying?I can't let this do it.Yeah, it can't.Like I remember when the Benjamins came,I probably didn't come outside for a month.I was just in the studio.I was like, you know, I got to make something either betteror something they could play right out.
13:55after it. And that was like the focus. You know what I'm saying? I would make like 50 beatsof that and only keep five. Look at that. You know what I'm saying? Like kissing them used to bemad at me because they'd be writing to something and I just turned the machine off. And this isa real, this is not like, it's not like my brother Fat Joe throwing the joint. I wouldturn the machine. So you said this is all real right here. No, and Joe, mine, he feel that's real. You know what I mean? You know, but I grew up in the Bronx.I ain't never seen these good at that.
14:28That's like, I don't know what type of haul past my brother Joe got.I ain't gonna lie.I ain't seen that one yet.Yeah, yeah, yeah.Oh, man.Oh, man.Yeah, man.Yeah, man.
14:38I love you, Joe.But I, man.Joe got them stories, man.Joe got them stories.Joe got the stories. So what's your craziest studio session with D Block, man?You know, they like a pillar of hip-hop, you know, one of the best groups of old-time,for others as well.
14:56You know, what was like a wild studio session? And you know I gotta ask about DMX, man.Rest of these two.To be honest, like, I don't really recall, like, see, the locks was, they very organized. You know what I'm saying?Which is, you know, how you always see them. You know what I mean?
15:14Like they can be in different places, kids doing this, sheat, but they always been organizedsince they was the war locks.I always seen them like super organized.I've never seen them.like scattered or have a person like persuade the opinion.Like if kiss or she or style say we go on right. And they might want to go left up and down,
15:40but by the time it come back to you, we're going right.Right, look at that.Right.And so like in the studio session, they was very organized. They came in and they knew what they need to do.We ain't, I don't remember no,Craig went, nobody got whipped out and, you know,I don't remember like some of the other type of sessions.
15:56I remember the niggins getting whipped out,but it wasn't because of the lock session. It was, allegedly.Allegedly.It wasn't during the lock session. It wasn't during the lock session. But I definitely remember niggins getting whipped out.I know Swiss.
16:13Rest in Peace DMX, one of the best artists to ever do it.He doesn't win diamond, so all kinds of records. And he's a part, he's in the history, Hall of Fame, rest of Peace DMX.Shout out to his family and everything. What was the studio like with him, eight pit bulls in there?Like, what, what's going on, brother?See, now, me and X was different because we ran together, right?
16:33Like brothers for real?We were having X, man.Yeah, yeah, we ran, we ran the Yonkers together. We ran, we did a lot of, we did a lot of things together. So, man, his relationship was more wreck.Like, with the locks, it wasn't, it was family, but it was more work unless we was, like, out of function and something like, me and X, like, what are you doing? What time? Boom. We're going to Stewart this time today.
16:56And it just depends on the mood.Like, you know what I mean? Like, because going back, me and X used to battle in the Bronx. And I mean, we had it, Zah on us with a broken pen.And we hit the whole Bronx that were just him battling. And then from there, we'll go to the studio. You know what I'm saying? So like we'll be on some non-music shit in the daytime. And then come back to the studio and actually do music.
17:22Because-I mean they was going to commit robberiesand then going to the studio to do music.Because it wasn't, you know, like the music was fun.Like, I never knew we could make money from the music. You know what I'm saying?Like, I never, like, for some reason, I just, I just was cool with the music being playedin the skate key and the cars on the radio and in the hood.
17:47I never really like was doing the music like, now I gotta like do this.music to pay the bill because I was already making money from my mixtap. I already knew how to make money, like, in ways that I was comfortable with. I didn't know the music business. And so, you know, I said this story before a couple of times, but like, even when I got my first real checks, I thought it was fake. You know what I'm saying? Until I went to the ASCAP office and the lady was like, yo, you know, how's it feel to be rich? I'm like, two buses, two trains. It's raining outside like it is.Now, I ain't rich yet.You know what I mean? She was like, no, like, you don't got, like, you don't got outlaw to me.I send you the checks. We sent you them checks. We got it.
18:32You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? And so I was like, and then they hit me, I was like, yo, those are real? And she was like, yeah. She was like, those are real.Boy, flew back home.Back.Because my grandmother, she used to, oh, you know, they used to always send the publishing
18:50clearance house to the hood. You want a million dollars. You got this so they can make you do the membership. So my grandmother used to always sayanytime those kinds of could just put them in the shoebox. So I just was a customer putting the dumb shit's in the shoebox. So I go back home at $750,000 in a shoebox.Damn.
19:08They're like, oh, shit.My life been changed since that day.You know what I mean?Like I never needed nothing from anyone since that day.Look at that. You know what I'm saying? So that was just like.a blessing, but we was never doing it for the money of it.
19:25So the shit we was doing for the money,we was doing that before the studio sessions. You know what I'm saying? And so when we went to the studio, that was just wrecked. It was just like, all right, we're going to do this freestyle,we're going to do this joint, all right? And that's like the earlier days, but I've seen so much wild stuff with dogthat it wasn't even wild no more.
19:44Right, right?Like, you know what's wild if it wasn't wild.A regular day was like, wow.Like, wow.Press the piece to X word.Like, that's wild.Like, that's wild.That's why.
19:55That's why.Right, right, right. That's funny right, right. That's funny right here.Yeah, because X is one of the greatest to do it.So I just want to know, like, it's like a biggie, a pock, a nise, you know.So I just want to know like what a regular day, what a wild day is like with X in the studio?Ten pit bulls, cheeks running around.
20:17Like, what's going on?It's just different. You know what I'm saying?Like, X is a, he'll go to a pool hall and come back with the whole pool hall to the studio.I don't know none of these people.I'm like, yo, who is this? It's like, nah, this is my man, you know, we're gonna play, yo, play the music, I want him to hear the album.I'm like, who is these things?
20:38Like, he was like, he was a people's person, you know what I'm saying?Like, we'll go to a place here, pay the bill for everybody.X gave away all his cake to people, you know what I'm saying?I never seen a human so generous.like dog, dog would give everything away.I'd be like, man, keep that for yourself, bro.You know what I'm saying? But he just was super generous
20:57and he didn't care about the cake.Like, there was no time, like, you've seen him stunting on nobody. You know what I mean?Like, even stuff that he'll wear to, like, a premiere,by the time we got back to his dude,he didn't gave all that shit away already.Look at that.
21:10I was like, you gave a watchaway?I was right here.I'm like, who you gave to watch me?This old lady said she liked it.This old lady said she liked it.X had a good heart though, man, good heart.Yeah, that's looking for the old lady. What shit?
21:25I think she was gonna be given to him.And we bought into the character. You know, him and Belly was like, that was like a classic, him and Nas.Because it was like he was being who he was the wild nigger in belly.Yeah.And Nas was the calm, nigger, sincere. It didn't feel like they was acting. It definitely didn't feel like that was for real right there.
21:43Because Nyes laid back in calm in real life and X is really turned up in real life,nigga.Yeah.So it felt like it was just dead. That's why Belly was a classic, man.Super classic.Football is back, folks, and you need to change the way you invest in the NFL this season. It's finally time to ditch your old sportsbook apps because Polly Market is here.

23:09Let's go.Whoa! We fast forward to Eve.How was it working with Eve?Because Eve was like, she was like the first female to come out of her.the Rough Riders and one of the biggest ever of all time.Definitely.She had our respect with him and Foxy just to come after them.
23:25Yeah.She came after them, right?Yes, she did.Yeah.Eve came after them and get her respect. What hit records? What was that like? And not producing some of most of our album, right?
23:34Eve is one of one. She's the real deal. You know what I mean?Like still today as we speak right now, she's still the same person and I seen come in that studiowith all them wolves in there, straight from Phillyand watch six to these like, yo,you gotta go through this right here.
23:49And she stood, she stood her ground in there. And it was some heavy spitters in there that day too.It was a lot of work getting put in that day.And Eve was just like this, like, and then X was coming to bite somebody. And then Eve ended up biting a homeboy and X's like, she was with us.You know what I'm saying? And from that point on, she was just family. You know what I'm saying?
24:14She used to live with me.Like that was like my real sister.Look at that. You know, the only power we had wasniggas picking up from the crib.I was like, mm-mm.We ain't going to do that.He got to meet you across the bridge, baby.
24:30I wasn't all the way out yet.You know what I'm saying?Got you.Got you.And so, you know, I'm seeing the range rover pull upand this and now.Like, man, we'll do that. Not here.
24:42Not here. Not here. Not here. You know, women with, with guys, you know, they don't make the right decisions, especially when they're young. And so in my mind, it's like, this going to be a changeable thing. You know what I'm saying? So you can't get comfortable with that.
24:57Because somebody else going to know, somebody else going to say, somebody else going to.There's something about Eve.I ain't going to know where it came from.I told her one time, it never happened again. It wasn't like a, damn, like, she didn't put me in an uncomfortable situation. She caught it in 2.1 seconds.Right.Apologized and Wollahi, like we never had a disagreement till this day.
25:21And that even wasn't even a disagreement. That was just-Like, you know how you move?Yeah. You know what I'm saying? But like she's been solid, like, Eve is like the most solid. You know what I'm saying?Like the most solid.
25:33I give it.Shout to my sister Eve.Shout out to Eve, man.We got to get an hour.Eve, it's album time.Oh shit, let's go.We need it, man.Let's go.
25:42We need it.And I'm proud of her because she landed the plane way early. She was the first one traveling across seas.I remember she was the first person that even showed me what Patron was.But nobody moved to the-in-law.I'm talking about. No, Eve could have owned like 10, 15% of Patron, bro.Damn, that's crazy.
26:04Like early, early. We was in Vegas. And she was just like, yo, I'm like, what are you drinking? She's like, nah, this new thing for Tron.I had some shots. It's just like smooth on.Had a couple of shots.Worst morning of my life.
26:19Worst morning of my life.I'm telling you, like, I was like, I didn't want to smoke Petron for like two years. But then she was like, no, it's this company called Petron. They ain't about to blow. They want to offer me some shares in the company. But, man, they got to cut me the check.Boy, I wish I could rewind that time.God damn.
26:38You think there's more money, you think I, because I feel like it feels like in the game, there was more money back then for producers than it is now.Hell.Or maybe I'm wrong.Because I felt like you and Timberlini, you guys was getting like a million dollars a beat.Half a million dollars a beat.He was making like 10 million a month.Talk about that, bro.
26:58Damn.Because we always wanted to know what you, Timberland, Drey, because it just seemed like you, it was just a lot of money for these guys.Like, it felt like if you wanted a Swiss beat back then, you had to pay a million dollars, half a million, probably,Minim-about right. You said it about right. No, I mean.
27:15Explain that to me, bro.Tim and P. got the guts out of them because of the pop side of it.You know what I'm saying?Because they was hitting the pop side of it.But I was getting the guts out of it from a hip-hop standpoint. And then I started doing R&B vibes and different things when producing all the B's albumsand Gwen Stefani and all those different things there. And then I did the rock and roll stuff.
27:37But like just basic, just with no communication is too. That's not even, that's just for us to be in the studio.250,000, just to talk.Just to talk to you.Yes.Damn.Yes.Go ahead.
27:52And then.Because I had this 10 million a month.See, I'm tired of trying to hear about it.Yeah.And then, you know, and then what was different was I wrote a lot of the choruses for the songsas well. You know what I'm saying? So that was a whole other vibe.
28:06Then you want to do the video. That's a whole other vibe. And then it depends on who the artist was as well. You know what I'm saying?Like most artists is like, yo, we need the main, main joint.Like, let's go.You know, that's a 500 ball. The main price, got you what I'm saying?
28:19So it was amazing because it just was like, it was just a great time to actually make hits. You know what I'm saying?Because you can physically feel the response. You could physically feel, you could, you could visually see in your account what was dancing. You know what I'm saying? He said you can see what was dancing in your account.Yeah, you can see it.You know what I mean?
28:44You can get $500 to a mill of beat, Timling him at that time, Swiss.Yeah.That's out of budget. It was just a different time, man.And I'm happy, like I said, I've been in it for so long, although I still feel like I haven't started all the way yet. It's just seeing all those different errors and then see where we have now.You know what I'm saying? It's like, man, like that was a big record.
29:08Like, how much you got paid to do that?Definitely, man.Oh.You know what I'm saying? It was different times. You feel like music now is more microwave music because it seems like we playing all the oldshit now.Like we playing the new shit but the old shit is like I'm still bumping.
29:23It doesn't last as long.It don't last as long.Yeah, like I'm still bumping the locks.I'm still bumping DMX.Niggas doesn't start or something in the call.I'm still bumping Eve.You know what I'm saying?I think that's probably because of the error we from that we feel comfortable with it.
29:38I'm sure my kids is not trying to hear that shit. But I got to take that back because Egypt listen to more older songs than me.Okay, look at that then.I came in and he listened to Mink Condition.I said, what do you know about this? You know what I'm saying? So the one thing I tell people is that the thing that you can't escape no matter what is going to be quality, they're going to always go back to the quality and they're going to always go back to originality.
30:07You understand it?So I think that the more artists, even to date, that.that has an original aspect to themand a quality aspect as a musician,as a songwriter, as a producer.People gonna go back to that. But what happens is now with technology, you can run through so many artists, right?
30:29And my kids told me, I was like, yo,what's making you listen to this song right here?Because they were playing, they'd be playing some, wow, shit in the crowd. They was like, nah, dad, you gotta understand,Like, this is what we have fun with.We don't buy that. But we buy this right here.
30:47You know what I'm saying? We buy like Kendrick or this one or that one or that. And so it let me know that they're not off like that.Got you.You know what I'm saying?Although it's probably more popular to be cool and to hang out with your friends with it.Because you see on TikTok and the Instagram and say,but they really got music.
31:02They believe they listen to.They're not going to the shows of those songs. They're not buying those songs. But they having fun with it.So it's making, it's tricking you like,That's what they're really rocking with. But they're like, nah, we just catching a record with that.I was like, okay, that makes sense to me.
31:15That felt good.Got you.You got you. You're like, no, you ain't following this.Yeah, I'm like, oh, my man, he ain't even say nothing.Got you, got you, gotcha. How is he better than everybody? No, he didn't say a sentence.
31:27He rap better than everybody? It's crazy now.I mean, now you got TikTok and Instagram now, breaking records more than more you would say as much as radio, right?Yeah.Yeah.But the thing is, who's going to the shows?Right? So a lot of the ways, like a lot of artists really make their money from the shows.
31:50So if you live on TikTok but can't sell out of arena, is that success?Right?Because the amount of the numbers that they're breaking down on those streams, you got togo like mega crazy. To get some real money from that.Yeah.It wasn't like we was getting the check for producing the track.Right.
32:09in the net. Like, you got a streamand they're paying you on a penny rate, whichMcDonald's don't even pay you on a penny rate. You know what I'm saying? So how do weget from a multi-billion dollar business to likethe penny rate vibe? Like, I don't know.Like, those things throw me off a little bit.Yeah, because you was getting that million and that
32:26500 to beat, man. That's where your crib look like Bruce Wayne's, man.Got money, man.Got the Bruce Wayne crib, bro.I am man.Come on.I am in a man, joint.Yeah, I've seen that crib on line.
32:40I was like, man, ridiculous, man.God is good.God is good. You got to the top five cars because you went to the toys, man.You got some pieces over there, bro. That's a fact.I like, um.Because I know you got the Ferraris, the Lambeaus, but you got some other specials.
32:54I don't got no Lambos on one.Oh, okay.Yeah, I had Lambeaus. That was a while ago.Definitely Ferraris.Um, I'm gonna switch it up.What I like now, I like the Vibeau.I like the vipers, the old school vipers,
33:11because it's gonna go back to American muscle carsonce everybody's finished playing around. They're gonna go back to the naturally aspirated stick shift. You know what I'm saying?Because everything is like, they're making everything so hybridthat people are gonna go back to the basics of it.You know what I'm saying? And so I've been collecting all the Dodge Vipers.
33:34Got you.You know what I'm saying?Because the key thing with the whole car,World is to get in when nobody's paying attention. You know what I'm saying?Like not, when you see everybody tasting it,then you probably should like go the other way.You know what I'm saying?
33:49So like when I built my Ferrari collection,of course people was always driving Ferraris, but they wasn't collecting on that type of level,SP1, SP2, SP3, La Ferrari, you know what I'm saying? As a package, as a set.You know what I'm saying? They was more so catching with the dealers, sent it to them not vibing what's really going on in Italy.
34:11Right?And so, you know, that. And then I like the old vanquishes.Catch those, you can catch those for nothing. You know what I'm saying?Like just catch the old vanquishes with under 10,000 miles.Right.Catch about five of those, sit on those for about three years.
34:29Because they're all going up in value. You're going to four extra money.Right.You know what I'm saying? So like a lot of my cars are like more so like investments.I don't buy cars like stunt.Like, I just added to the portfolio.Yeah, because you'd be on like some different type of time, man.
34:43You just like, it's like once when you guys like you and Jay got the money, you know, y'all went from the cars.Talk about the art too, because I know you're big on the art, you and Jay Z.Yeah, I mean, the art.The art has been a passion for me since growing up in the Bronx.Right.You know, art and music is brothers and sisters.Right.It's just the businesses switched them up.
35:04Like, every since you heard music, you sing. You're seeing art with it.Every time you've seen art, you see music with you.You go to the artist studio is playing music. You know what I'm saying? But the businesses made it like two different categories, they brothers and sisters. But I feel like, you know, using my network and my influence to get the youth into other ways where they can express themselves.Right.
35:29It's been strong because, you know, look at where we grew up at.Like the teacher used to put the work on the board and lead a class. You know what I'm saying?Like that's, what type of education is that?Right? And I was just like, cool.I had this person doing the work anyway, so it didn't matter to me.He was playing dice.
35:47He's having a good time. But then when you get older, you realize that we've been robbed of the education, which is why I went back to school in my late 30s did the three years of Harvard. And I feel like that gave me another 20, right?Right.Right.Because we missed so much because imagine driving past everything, every day at 100 miles per hour.Because you're chasing one thing.
36:12Because you just, we just trained to go.But now you're able to walk and like, yo, the cleanest is closer right here. Why am I paying five hours more to go right there where everybody go?I didn't even know the cleanest was right by the crib.So you slow it down and then you realize like, yo, they robbed us our education, robbed usof our rights, robbed us to all these different things.then we can't really articulate how great we are because we didn't have those skill sets. But you might be able to paint a different picture as a rapper, as a poet.
36:48You might be able to paint a different picture as a photographer, as a painter.Right.So now you put those skills versus how they're saying that we need to be in special classesand all this stuff here. We're more brilliant than the people teaching us.We just express ourselves different. And that's why we doubled down on the Dean collection and, you know, making art accessible for everyone and built this this brilliant collection that's traveling on tour to 2031.You know, it goes around the world.
37:17You know, first collection of color to ever do it.And then we just passed a law called the Dean's Choice where living artists can participate on a royalty base for the reseller that works at auction.Wow.Right?So I bought a painting from you for $100,000.And at that time, that $100,000 was great. You know what I mean? That's probably the biggest move for your painting at that time.
37:43Ten years go by, I joined for $32 million at the auction house, which you sold it for $100.I bought it.I'm cashing out.The auction house cashing out. You're sitting there telling me I did that painting.Right.You ain't participating on none of it.
38:00So we just passed that with Bonham's auction house with called the Dean's Choice, where nowthey get a little something to participate in a cell. That's dope. That's dope. That's dope. And it never depreciates because you got a couple of Bosciats in the stash, right?Yeah.Name some of you, same you got.
38:19Some of the artists in the collection?Yeah.I know you got Boscai out, but name some other parts.Or what Boscai out you got?Well, we got, it's about 4,000 pieces in the overall collection.I'm collecting for 27 years now.years now, maybe 20 years.Yeah.
38:32You've been that shit that long?Yeah. That's crazy. You don't know this about this guy, man?No, I know. And I know it for over 20 years and they know you've been in the collect art thoughthat long is what I'm saying.Yeah.
38:44Yeah.That's crazy.People used to make fun of me collecting art.You know what I'm saying? They're like, you spend all that type of money on art.But it's not depreciating.No.You know, it's a good thing.
38:55What Boscaats you got?Don't John Gott.Don't they got a John Gotti Bosciat?That's the one I think I would get.I think it's a John.I haven't seen that one in a minute.I think there's a John Gotti Bosciat.That would be the first one I would be.
39:06But there's so many, like Bosciat is definitely top, but there's so many people. You know what I don't know.Well, let me know because I just know Bosciah really.Yeah, so we got, you know, we got Derek Adams, who's amazing from New York. How much a piece from him, of course?Like, what was the most, you expect, 100, 200, 300, 300?Derek, you know, these guys are in museums. These guys are, you know, they're the head of the table.
39:36I don't want to quote his price in case he wanted to change it.Got you know what I'm saying? But it's up there. It's up there. It's up there. It's for sure. It's under hundreds. But, you know, for me, it's priceless.
39:47You know what I'm saying?Like, how you put a number on something you can't do?Right?Like, what you guys do is priceless. What we do is priceless. Now, there is an interaction that happens. So, like, when we buy art, we don't say that.We don't feel like we don't feel like
40:01we own the art.We don't feel like we even buying the art.We feel more like it's a welcome to the family. You know what I'm saying?Because like the world just feel that anything that's with the artist is,it could be purchased and they can own.You know what I'm saying? It's just something about that that I've seen from traveling the world that
40:17a lot of people had that same concept like,oh, I could buy Yale versus.I could buy a marriage. That's nothing.Like, nah.I know what you're saying. You know what I'm saying? It's like that thing.
40:26And I see it in the art world too because I curated a,I curated the art fair at one time before we had our own.And I just loaned my works, some of the works in the collection,to the fair. And the illest part was nothing was for sale that I put on loan. And people wanted it even more. You know what I'm saying? They just couldn't understand that they couldn't buy that shit
40:51that they were seeing right there in front of them. When they feel that all art artists are for sale and arts for sale, sometimes it's not available. You know what I'm saying?Like sometimes it's making not.available sometimes. What's the most you ever spend on the, on, because I know you have you in the art. What's it?
41:06Millions, man.Millions.Because one Boscai could cost me what?Millions.Like one Boscai, $1 million for Boscai?Millions, man.Name me one Boscai, you got.A million L'Baskia is like this.
41:18A million dollar Boscai is like this.Literally.A drawn-Darge is little.A million dollar one is little.Yeah, I don't, you know, the Bosciad train is gone, man.You know, like, those are 30s.and 40s and 50s, you know what I'm saying?Like, I would recommend the youth and our people to definitely look up and know who
41:40Boscayat is because coming from Brooklyn, changing the game like what he did is amazing. But it's, you know, he's gone, man.You know, like, that's like trying to catch the Mona Lisa back, you know what I mean?Like that, right, right, right.Like, you know what I'm saying? And but there are a lot of up-and-coming artists that's,That's super cool. And we built the whole collection off of artists being who they are before they was there.
42:09Right?So you don't want to catch who's the hottest right now.You know what I'm saying? It's probably too late. You want to catch who that artist is collecting.Facts.You know what I'm saying? And then you can catch some masterpieces as well.
42:24But that's up to you.But building the whole collection should be what you feel from your heart, one.And it should be from somebody that's up and coming.coming so you can grow with them also.Right.Right.So it's like, yo, the Bosci had 50 million, but imagine you bought it at 20,000.And then y'all took that whole ride to 50 million.
42:41That's a different type of, that's a different type of feeling.I know what you mean. You know what I'm saying?Right.Yeah.Because I was going to ask you who would, who you think is the new Boscaiats and the newart guys coming.Well, there's only one Bosciat.
42:52You know what I'm saying?Like I think artists are the new themselves. And there's a lot, like, there's so many, bro.Dope artists on the country. It's too, like, it's so many people worldwide. You know what I'm saying?Like, there's so many people that's on to come up.And we're going to, we're going to, we're going to start presenting these artists as well.
43:13You know, I'm trying to think if it's a newsletter or a way because our people actually don't know how to get in contact with those. At all. That's bad.Who those artists are who they could trust. And I remember that because when I first started collecting, it was actually for, like, the wrong reasons.Like, I was collecting in, like, from when Clive Davis came to the crib and he, helooked at me different than just being some- Yeah, to show off.Yeah, I'm showing off.
43:37Like, oh, Smith.Yo, how much is that piece?52 million I paid for this, Bosque out here.I went here.Got you.Got you. That's what I would do for. That's what I'm looking at it.
43:48Yeah.So when I renegotiated my deals, they was right.Got it.He seemed like I got a Sam Francis, a Chagal, a Miro, a Dali. You know what I'm saying?Like, and-I do business with him a certain kind of way.Yeah, no, no, he's different.
44:02This guy is different. You know what I'm saying? It actually worked, but I realized that. That's broken.I don't even know half the names you said, a dolly.Yeah.That's funny. But the thing with those names is I didn't really connect with them.
44:18You know what I'm saying?I just connected with like just the names of it.You know what I'm saying? It's just like just wearing a jacket just because of it.the name and just because it's d'i old just because it's been d'i and little guy cool but yeah but now you goconnect with public school right and you're sitting down with them brothers right and you're having adifferent conversation yeah that felt better to me so collecting living artists felt better to methan artists that wasn't around like my kids know most of all the artists in the collection they
44:50come stay out our properties we go to their studios like it's like a community you know whatI'm saying. So I encourage people to like collect living artists. It's just, and you get to help that artist while they're here and have a relationship. And you watch the come up from 20,000 to 50 million.Like I said, you're going.Everybody's celebrating at that point.Plaza Kia makes car buying easy, as easy as driving. The 2026 Kia EV5, quiet, spacious, and you can skip the lines of the gas pump.

49:50How was that?Because, you know, I got my personal relationships with the brothers as well.So how was it coming in the game is day-ne-up.They love it.They love it.They love it.I always tell you, Dee saved my life.Shout out the D-N-Wy.
50:03The kid saved my life. They gave me a whole opportunity to even do this music shit.Man, I was on the run for allegedly a shooting. And D didn't care. That got her more excited. He ain't care.Like, bro, yeah, that's all.All right, come on, let's go, nigga.
50:15He didn't care.So how was it for you just growing up with themgetting in the whole music business, man?It was fun, you know, to...see your heroes be other people heroes.Definitely.You know what I mean?Like usually in your family, your heroes are your heroes.
50:30That don't pertain to other people. That's like your personal thing. But to see that they have the same amount of love outside as they do inside the Dean family. To me was very inspiring. And, you know, it shaped who I am today, you know, even going from my grandfather, Imam Shamsof Dean, you know, who's very strict Muslim, very strong.strict, you know, you know, led the wayManus Muhammad Ali, the whole thing, why I'm saying?
51:01Like my family bloodline has been strong, you know, since day one, you know, my, my grandfather and grandmother, you know, they helped build Moss number seven, you know, in Harlem.Yeah, look good.Still under the family as we speak today. And just, you know, just being honorable and watching thosebrothers be honorable because like even as a grown man today I have protocols and responsibilitiesthat I have to do being that I'm a part of the Dean family.
51:33Right.You know, and I'm the oldest grandson of the Dean family. So all the responsibilities, you know, I'm being watched in a major way.And I think more men, especially more men of color is supposed to be held accountable fortheir actions because your actions could affect your whole bloodline.Right.You understand? So, you know, I appreciate Dean.
51:54and why for pulling me from the street life and almost making it a violation for me steppingout on that type of timing because they did that already. And they seen a vision in me to like be where I'm sitting at right now.You know what I'm saying?Globally known, clean slate, no weak shit on my name, you know what I'm saying? And so those are like the values that I grew up with and it was definitely tough, you know whatsaying but right we need that as men like we need somebody that's going to punch you in yourface and and rumble with you if you violate him right because if you get that inside you're
52:38going to watch your manners outside too right and I treat people with respect I'd rather help youthan hurt you you know what I'm saying but sometimes you know that's out of our hands butwe train to help people more than to hurt people which is why you know you knowknow, D is a legend, Y is a legend. It wasn't because of people that got put in bad situations. It was the people that they helped from bad situations. You know what I'm saying? And that's the thing that I like to double down on because, you know, the street side of
53:10it is the street side of it.Like there's, there's, you know, today there's 14 years old that put in that same typeof work. It's nothing to, right? But to help people and to be honorable and to even help them 14 and or, you know, and to even helpthem 14-year-olds from having to put in that work, that's a whole different bracket.Right.
53:29You know what I'm saying? And so from them doing it to me,I see them still doing it to the youth still to the day. When you're talking about that the other day,Dee still on the block helping these kids. That's why he even do the podcast outside on the block. He was telling me like he out there stopping so many situationsthat could be out there going left.
53:47Still to this day and when he don't got to be.D could be chilling in his big house, chilling, but he choose to be, I know he didn't even know.He didn't even know we was going to talk about this, but he chose to be in the hood stoppingthese situations, really helping these young kids, and he ain't even looking for no credit forit. Probably mad me and Swiss talk about it now.But that's what he's doing out there, damn there every day too, dedicated to it, man.I mean, when you look at Rough Riders, what y'all created was a dynasty.
54:12And I mean, you know, y'all came at a time where you had cash money.Like I told you, I remember me and 50 opening up for the cash money Rough Ruff Riders store. These guys was big way ahead of our time. You know what I'm saying? So seeing Little Wayne as a kid, you're seeing DMX, you seeing Eve.I'm seeing all that being on this tour. You didn't know who I was at that time.I was a nobody.
54:33I'm coming in there.I'm just 50s hype men at that time. But I've seen these guys build dynasties that last years to be a part of hip hop and havea DMX, a Lox, a Eve, Swiss beats is, you know, you're a major part of that dynasty. How did it even start? The Rough-Rahed Dynasty?Yeah, how did it even start? It started with my Uncle Y, for sure.
54:55You know what I'm saying? You know, we still to this day, we got hundreds of chapters.Started from the streets one, and then it went to the bike life.Right.You know what I'm saying? So, you know, even right now we got, I can't even count many riders, you know whatsaying?Still to this.
55:12Still, still chapters, paying dues, my grandmother. You know, my grandmother's, you know, she's serious. She's run all the chapters. It's my grandmother.Wow.And she named Rough Riders. You know what I mean? She's harder.
55:25I'm sorry, fellas.She's harder than everybody.She's all in a little.She's all of them.Got you.Got you.Got you.Got you.
55:35Got you.Got you.You know what I remember one time.I remember one time somebody did something.She's, you know, I don't know what I could say.But anyway.Go.You could.
55:48She was like, she was so mad at them. She was like, they did what?Where are you at now?And y'all ain't, oh, y'all nicks getting soft.Oh, I see where it did get it from there.Because that sounds just like that thing right there.Yo, shout to the boss, Granny Sandra. That's right.
56:07That's right. She's not playing no games.I'm telling you, like, if she's on your bumper, you're in bad shape.Bad shape. You're in bad shape. You're in trouble. She didn't want back in the day.She was like, somebody did what?
56:19Oh, no.We're going, let's go.And I know, we got to finish it up.Definitely.She, you know, she comes from that different side. But why I had a vision?Because once again, going back to my grandfather, he's the Eman.He was managing Muhammad Ali for a minute.
56:36Yeah.That's crazy. That's crazy. But being that he was the E man and my uncles and them doing what they was doing in thestreets, it was clashing.Right.You know what I'm saying? So it was a big meeting that was had.
56:49that had to move to another place and this had to,they had to switch up.That's what forced, we're not forced them, but maybe forced them.My grandfather was seriously. It just made them switch up the strategy.Go legit. You know what I'm saying?
57:07It was a go legit. And so that's how Rough Riders started with Wai,and indeed came from another side of it,from the street part of it to support his brother. But Dee had a great air and still do, like, Dee was there for, like, many of the sessions. So, you know, Wilde was good with making the big 40,000 feet plays. And then Dee was great with keeping everything managed on the ground, you know what I'm saying?Because Dee was flying.
57:35All the artists of state fly, he knew how to dress and made everybody look presentable.Facts.You know what I'm saying? Why is more like, put the hoodies on.Let's get the dogs, fuck them.Yeah.You know what I'm saying?Real military.
57:45Why was super militant? He's still to this day thinking he ran in the army. You know what I mean? He's, where he's running the farm.I'm like, why?Like, chill. He's like, ah, man.Super military.
57:56Everywhere, 300 bikes pulling up.I'm like, yo, you know he's just going to the store, right?Organizing, man, trips for niggas to go to see niggas at the jails or type of shit. Why I was real organized for real.Yeah, because it was like, it's not only like they marketed just the music, they marketed themotorcycles, the clothing.People was buying Rough Riders merch at that time.It was selling as much as Diddy stuff.
58:19and J and everybody else.Rough riders and power a thousand bikes. How was it when DMX passed, though?I know that really hits you hard.I still don't like it.Yeah.You know what I'm saying? You know, losing a loved one, losing a king,
58:32it's just, he just was too young. You know what I'm saying? He was too young. But, you know, he did also go through a lot in his life. You know what I mean?Like, I've seen him since I met him in pain, even with the fame.He just always had certain pain.
58:49because, you know, he just dealt with a lot of trauma.Yeah.You know what I mean?Like a lot of kids that grow up in a situation and the juvenile situation, they go througha lot of traumas that the right people and the right guidance is probably not in front of themat that time.Right.And then a lot of people that you love burn you as well.
59:07And so, you know, he was holding on to a lot of those different things, which made himperform and write with so much passion because everything he was talking about was like, for real. His life, he put his life into the music, for real.Yeah, for real. You know what I mean?Like, it wasn't like made up characters.Like, even when he was doing Damien and changing his voice, he was just talking about another side of himself.Right.
59:30Right.But he was still-Having that conversation with his self for real.Like, for real.Facts.But, you know, I see like, you know, with me, it's going to always be all, always positivity when it comes to the dog.Right.Because I actually know who he is.
59:45You know what I'm saying? And X.He just was very simple. If he liked you, he fucked with you.If he didn't, he didn't.It wasn't no in between and this and that. That's how he was.I was in this studio when you hear him say lines like,
01:00:00protected by Viper, stand back.Because it was like, when DMX came with the first shit, get at me, though. It was just like, how fuck he even, you're doing that. You know what I'm saying?I never said he was sane.Right, right. He said, he said he was sane.
01:00:16he was saying.Like, he really liked that commercial from the car joint.Like, Detective by Vipers, stand back.He said he just liked the commercial so much he figured the way to incorporate thatshit in the music.Yeah, because when you heard Get At Me, Dog, this the first time you're in thenigga barking on the record, but I remember that beat was so, do you produce that one?Or no.
01:00:36No.Who produced that one? That was, yeah. That was Greene Grease.I remember when that shit dropped, it was just like, yo, who the fuck is this? No, when I heard that record, man, I was like, oh, they're assing trouble now.Because, like, imagine just being on the leash so long and everything was just sweet. And it's just like, yo, when we get off this leash, we're going to eat all that food right there.
01:01:05And they're not feeding you, by the way.And the food is right there. So it was like when they let us loose, it was just, it wasn't nothing to talk about. It was this, it was a record. That record was popular. And then you came with motherfucking stop, drop, shut up now, open up shop. What was that feeling like?Whoa.
01:01:24You told me that's one of the records you can't even really listen to like that becauseof, you know, the whole situation, damn it.But how was that feeling with that record and at that time?Like, sheesh.Well, that record wasn't easy to get done. You know what I mean?Like I got kicked out of New York and then I moved to Atlanta. So I made stop dropping in Atlanta.
01:01:44And that's why I had to bounce up.You know how to have the Malana niggas hype now.Like, yeah, see, Swiss came and did that in the A, nigger. The A was a big part of my career.I'm not going to lie.Like, the A saved my life.Like, I don't know if I would have made it staying in New York the way I was moving and how everythingwas just dropping around me just because.
01:02:14You know, you know when it get to that point where you started off as kids, now you're getting a little older, now everybody changed.Yes.You know what I'm saying?Like, you know when the whole hood just changed?Yes.And it's just like something, who did what to who?Damn.
01:02:32Who got, what, he's laying outside now?It started becoming like that every day.Like, you know what I'm saying? And then now you have to change as a person, right? So, you know, we growing up in this situation to where we just walking to the park. Now you got to walk to the park. And now you got to be like this and now you got to be like that. And now you got to.
01:02:53And you don't know where it's coming from.I thought he was cool. He's not cool.It started getting like super tricky. And so, you know, a lot of situations jumped off and I can't go.And I felt like I hated that I was going to Atlanta after I was moving to a farm.I ain't ever been to Atlanta. You know what I'm saying?
01:03:11Like you from the Bronx. They're talking about, nah, you can't come back to school. And my stepfather got a transfer with the post office. And he's like, we got to transfer to Atlanta.I'm like, what?I'm like, man. That was the first time I seen gangs. You know what I'm saying?
01:03:27The first time I seen gangs was going to, I went to Stone Mountain. You know, I was reading. And when you walk in, everybody's standing on the wall.Right? So I ain't know why people were standing on the wall.I'm sitting down.come over there, man, you can't sit down with that color on.I ain't know what a nigga was talking about.
01:03:45I ain't even going to lie like I was on a different type of time.I know you're like, what the fuck?I was like, what the fuck I was like, what? But it wasn't, it didn't feel, I felt like a joke.I'm not going to lie.You know what I'm saying?Because like a person at that time pressing you.About a color.
01:04:06I just ain't even understand what was happening.I'm 15.You know what I'm 15?You know what I'm 15?So, you know, I always knew that that was like more of a West Coast thing. You know what I'm saying? And even then growing up in New York, we never really knew about bloods and crips like that.Growing up in the hoods, we never seen, we had crews, we had the blocks.
01:04:26But I've never seen nobody drag up and have a problem with because of these two colors in my particular hood. You know what I'm saying? And so, another dude came up and then we just had to get it popping. You know what I said? That's how I spent my first day.And then that the Atlanta experience, it started off like that. And I was trying to get shit back to New York.Right.
01:04:46So I'm trying to go back.I don't mind being bad.Yeah.I didn't care.I was like, you know, maybe this is going to make, make them have to go back. But thank God that, you know, all those things panned out.I ended up going from the street energy and it went back to the music energy and DJing. And then I started DJing like all these, all the school parties and things like that.
01:05:08And what I did different.was I played, I didn't just play Atlanta music.I played East Coast music, reggae music,West Coast music, and Atlanta music.I didn't know people wasn't doing that. And so all those people was coming to my party. You know what I'm saying?Oh, shit.
01:05:23And I started making a big name. And I started DJing at a club called Flavours. Then I DJed the Atrium. These are iconic places, you know what I'm saying?DJ.Oh, was you at that time?1516?Yeah.
01:05:34Yeah, yeah, this was young. And so, but then I started going to the Pat Raleighwhere they was doing.all these chants and the bands and all these different things.Because I ain't never make it to none of the band joints. In the Bronx. You know what I'm saying?I wasn't going to no proms.
01:05:50Like I missed out on all that, you know, we.So then that sound, what?Oh, whoa.Uh-huh, uh-na-na-oh.Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, ah, mm-hmm, ah, right. That's like a land about.bounce. That's not like a boom bap. You know what I'm saying? So I said that whole story tohow I stopped drop. Highlandon did that. Look at that. That's
01:06:18motivated that. That's true though. It was that. That's what made it different. Yeah. That's whatwhen you really think about it. Mm-hmm. Yeah, Atlanta. It sounds like a whole B.When you think about like it was just big. Yes. Yes. So shout to the A for.Okay. They got that one. Y'all got that one. Y'all motivated Swiss. They're going to pump T I all the way up.Y'all got that one.Shelter Swiss and DMX and A, in the land on that one. That's crazy because I remember when that came and it was like, that kind of started
01:06:48the motorcycle anthem. That was it.That was it.That was it.Once we shot the video was crazy. And those are all our bikes. There wasn't no renter, you know how you, they get the cast.We was the cast.
01:07:02People who consider they self rough riders from everywhere, still to this day, but everywhere, like real talk. That shot at the end when you see the whole pan, that was all us.You know what I'm saying?Nothing renting.Yeah, nah, that was all us.That was-That video was historic.
01:07:19I remember sitting on the stoop and the martin every single car passing by.Stop, drop.I was sitting there. They ain't even know I did the beat. You know what I'm just looking at every car like, you know, that's my shit, right?People were saying, you know, what's that, what's that?Like, yo, that's my joint.
01:07:35They're not even believing what I'm saying to them.to them. And I just was taking, I was just like, taking it. I still, I'm still not over that moment. You know what I got to ask you. How did you feel when you seen, because DMX was a worldwideartist. He wasn't just a New York artist. He was worldwide. He was doing shows overseas. He went diamond. What he sold? 11 million records. I think it was that La Palluza footage. Was it with La Palluza? No, that was, that was, that was, um, Woodstock footage. And when he did that,Wow. Shut up there was.How did you feel when you see that, like?
01:08:10I just remember, I just remember everybody getting ready to leave the studio to go there. And I was supposed to be there. But I was working on the rest of the record. And I was like, yo, where's everybody going?Man, some white boy shit.I don't know, some shit where everybody's on the grass and shit, you know.Good stuff.I didn't even, like, yeah, you know, some shit with the white boys is jumping up and down and on the grass.
01:08:37I said, you going to that? He's like, yeah, I mean, Leo and them, you know, they saying I was supposed to do this.Yeah, everybody's saying I'm supposed to do this. That's just like two, three hours away.I was like, man, I ain't going to that shit.I know you regret to miss it that one, man. That's like the most historic footage from DMX.Yeah, I do like that.
01:08:54Like that was, you know what? You know what?I came back strong though. The piece that's in back of the Woodstock I own is from an artist named Peter Max.So I own the Woodstock art piece.Oh, look at that.X is performing in front of the original today. You know what I mean?
01:09:10You was tight, you missed that.He said, but I'm going to hold the moment.I'm going to hold. He's in the moment.I ain't made that.Yeah, I got to give you that one. That's classic.Because think about it, that footage,
01:09:22that footage,that footage,that footage,knock a Swiss, Merck,that footage is like,classic hip-hop footage, bro.Of him that performance.It is.
01:09:34It is.It looked like 500,000.People was there.Basically, it looked like it's fake, right?Because you see how AI, the way it'd be pushing together and that?Yeah. That said was so dope that it did it make it look like it was fake.Like that, that's not real.
01:09:46Man, it was.Was it?He came back so on one. That put a real battery in his back. And mind you, he didn't want to do the song. That's crazy. You know what I'm saying? Most artists don't want to do the songs that change their life.
01:10:01Like I witnessed that many, many times.Like, as a producer, most songs I would give an artist.they don't want to do the song.Right.You know what I'm saying?Like, touch it was for Eve.Wow, look at that.Bring him out was for Beanie Seel
01:10:17because he was getting out of prison.Bring him out, bring him out.Oh, my God.Yeah.But then we had to force Ti to do bring him out.I gave him like five other beats that he liked, and I was just like, yo, just try this one track.Because I knew that, like, T.I.
01:10:34He had the skill to cross over to this.side and to be on a different bounce, although he was just in his trap mentality at that time. And he did bring him out like how X did stop drop. They did that as a, all right, fuck, letme just get it over with. Got you. You know what I'm saying? X lost a bet. That's how he losta bet to D. That's how he did stop, drop. T.I. felt like he was doing me a favor because I gavethose other beats. That's how he had bring him out. You know what I'm saying? And Beans were supposedto do that. And beans ain't, beans ain't take the joint. Do you feel like that?technology take away from the experience in the studios because it's like them classic studio
01:11:11sessions back in the days. I remember the two hit factories they had them across the street.Hit factory, Sony.Yeah, there was so much.Yeah, there was so much.Yeah, they would listen to the music in the car.It was so much.In the room, the room, the room.Yeah.
01:11:25I remember the hit factories across the street from each other. It was like a classic time in hip hop and like to be a producer like as for you had to likehave your weight up, bro.to come with it in this session.Yeah, I think those times is, I think, yeah, I think technology messed that up a little bit.I think, I think, I think-stallel of times.I think people still get together in studio sessions because, you know, we can't get inour studio set, in our studio that we have here in New York ever is booked out.
01:11:53You know what I'm saying? So artists do come together. There yeah.I think the technology is just another toy, you know what I'm saying? And it's just like when people ask about AI and all this stuff here, I was like, yo,you know, it's just another toy.Like, you know, like, we've been introduced to many toys. And we've, we've been here through so many different changes.
01:12:13It's just that the promotion of that change, they put billions behind. So it feels like, it feels like it's going to take over everything.Like, it feels like, this is bad, man. It's like you're going to wake up a robot.Yeah.You know what I mean? The way they were, you know what? You're going to wake up with a metal arm on.
01:12:31O'S and damn.Overnight.A.I just hit the day.For sure.Real talk. You know what I'm saying?Like us as as black people, we've done survived all of it.Yeah.
01:12:43We know how to adapt. We know how to adapt. It's going to take more than AI and all these different things because we figure it out.You know what I mean?Like we're worrying about how smart the new technology is, but we're not even using5% of our brain. So we're not even at our maximum capacity of thinking and different things. And we still figure it out.
01:13:04So that's what I don't be worrying about.like AI and this and that, are people going to do stupid shit?Yeah, they do stupid shit with everything.Yeah, you better believe it's bad.Swiss don't care.He made all the money already.Swiss Timberlin, come on.A million dollars a beat.
01:13:17You want a beat?Send your package. To me 10 million. That's how it was, man.So, I know you work with Monica, the Osley brothers.Name some big names that people might not know you work with because you named.Swiss them did it with everybody, though, man.Jay, DMX, everybody, man.
01:13:32J, DMX, everybody, man.J, DMX, the Ozley brothers.the list goes on.Metallica.I'm about saying, it's the man, the whole difference.Hold on.Metallica, Creed, corn, Limbiscuit.I wrote Keep Rolling, which is one of the biggest rock songs from that era.
01:13:47You know what I'm saying?Damn. You wrote Keep Rolling? They know that one.Let them keep going.Let them keep going. What else, Swiss? No, I'm going to tell you a story about Keep Rolling too.
01:13:56All right, I was mad as hell.I did an X move on that one.I ain't going to lie.Tell me some more names with Keep Rolling.I remember doing keep rolling and I remember them inviting me to the video and I was like manI can't do this some rock shit like I can't I'm on some rough rider energy I don't know if I'mgonna be able to go to this video right so I sit out the video mind you the rock and roll budgetcrazy I remember I had a $30,000 per diem just for clothes oh damn that like it's a 30,000 per diem
01:14:34That sound crazy.I never seen that before.I never seen that still to this damn. That sound crazy.I seen that on the rock side.I was like, oh, I like it over here. This is crazy.I bet.
01:14:4330,000.D.M.I remember I told Hove, I was like, yo, I'm about to be Swiss beats in the band. This thing said, I'll see you when you come back.Right, right, right.Yo.So I go, so to keep rolling video, I don't go to the video.I look at the video.
01:15:03everybody in the video, snoop in the video, this one in the video. It's more hip hop people in the videothan I thought.I was like, I knew you like fucking play myself. And it was on the, they shot on the top of the Twin Towerswhen it was standing. That's crazy.
01:15:19Look at that.Oh, man, Swiss.Come on, between the DMX and that one, man.Come on, see.Started to get mad at these moments, man.Come on, Smith.Come on, Smith. But I only did the song.
01:15:29We're good.For sure, you beat that check.I ain't mad.I didn't you.I didn't you work with Janet before?No, never?I worked with, um, Mariah.So I said Mariah.
01:15:42I worked with Maria, I worked with my first Army record. My first Army record was Maya, Best of Me, Destiny Child, all the Beyonce joints. You know, the Beyonce joints really, really took the Army level, like, where we made, like, you know, like the earlier ones. You know, like the earlier ones, it was more feeling like remixes. It then, it felt like trying to fit into something. When I did B's records, like the B-Day Joint Dead just passed, that felt like a hip-hop albumto me.I felt comfortable because we was in Sony and this is how crazy was.
01:16:20I'm like, yo, I'm gonna work with B, Pong, I'm all charged.I'm in the room. You know what I'm thinking?Like, she's calling me for this album, which she did call me for the album. So she comes downstairs and I was just like, yeah, boom, boom. She's like, yeah, you know, so this is the vibe with violence and not.I was, I was like, I already had in mind what I wanted to do, but be so smart. She came downstairs and threw me way off.
01:16:45She was like, yeah, Rodney's in this room, this one's in that room, that one's in that room.I said, oh, it's a war.You thought you was just there by yourself. My own session. This is Clash of the Titans. It got you. This is the gladiators. She shut down on the whole Sony, Rodney Jerkins here, Swiss here.
01:17:07Yeah.All the best writers, all the best producers in that studio. And this is me and Sean Gagher.I looked at him and I was like, it's on.Gotta go.We got to go.You got to go.I remember going in the room with him and Michael Jackson right upstairs.
01:17:23That joint, like, it was better.Damn, you met Michael Jackson?Yeah. How was that like? How was that like?Man, that was the last time I met him, I met him a few times. It's crazy that you brought there.I never really, me and my, me and, you know, Grady?
01:17:39Mm-hmm.Grady, my homie for like 30 years. You know what I'm saying? That's my brother.Shout to Grady, shout to Grady, man.Shelt the Grady.Grady.I got to get Grady on the podcast.
01:17:48Of course. That's a fact. That's why we love these stories, man. That's what we love these stories, man. That's what we love these stories, man.Bar, you know.Bar, what's up?Bar, what's up?
01:17:57Bar, bar, what's up.Paul called me every other week just to say, what's up, man. That's family, man.I'm gonna knock bar when I see him.Oh, man.Oh, man.I thought Bob was gonna pull up with you today.Right, man, he might be here now.
01:18:11You ain't lying.You ain't lying.You ain't lying.No, so.Yeah, I gotta hear about these Michael Jackson stories.Come on, bro.So, me and Grady owned a jet company at the time.Jack company?
01:18:23Yeah.Like a plane?Yeah. What the fuck?Yeah, we only had a jack.I just got to see this guy's real estate.Go ahead.I don't even want to see the art.
01:18:31We had a jet company. It was, it was, it was a great start.Okay.You know what I'm saying? It was a great, because like the one thing where I tell everyone is,whatever your main thing is, you should have other things parallel with it.Right.You understand?
01:18:47Don't put all your eggs in one basket, you know, like try to like, don't be a jack-of-all-trade and master of nuns.I'm not saying to do that.do that. But what I'm saying is I always had other hustles going on at the same time, right? And some moving slower, some moving faster. So when your mainzai have a time out or youwant to take a break, you got other verticals that's still working for you, right? So I alwaysdid that this whole time and we try many things, you know, a few work, a few things didn't work. But the jet company, that wasn't really for me, although we had a great time doing it because
01:19:20of Michael Jackson. Of course. So Michael Jackson, so Michael Jackson, um, you know,He booked the, when he had his tour that he was about to announce before he passed away,he was booking the flights through my company.Fire.Look at that. All right. So we booked Michael Jackson's last flights was through me and Grady's jet company.Oh, shit.
01:19:42Right?And so, and then we was about to broker a deal where we was getting ready to buy him.He was going to get a global express. So that global express was going to come through our company as well.So the person I was representing him was a very good friend of ours. And so that's how we got him as a client and all that. You know what I'm saying? So I guess in his deal, they was going to add a Globe Express.
01:20:05So we was, that's what we really was going.Look at that. That's what it's going to really go.Yeah, we were supposed to really, because we would have managed the Global Express forhim at that time. And so.Everybody would want to jump on the Jess, Michael Jackson take you.Yeah, it's that there would fit.
01:20:17Yeah, we'd been like, look, this is where Michael get it from.Right.So, you know, but we lost the legend. But the other memory, which is even crazier than that, was that I found out that Michael had a crush on my wife.Get the fuck out of it.What? In a cool way.
01:20:35Of course, of course.Michael's a Virgo, so I don't know.I'm a Virgo, so, you know, I'm a Virgo. So, you know, Michael, you know. And so I think Janet was the one that told A.K.And she was like, you know, my brother always had a crushing. And so we had the relationship through the jet joint. And so I thought it was-
01:20:57So I thought it was cool to set up for her to meet him.You know what I'm saying?Just for both of them to just have that moment.Me, of course, definitely, man,of fans of each other.Definitely.You know what I'm saying? And so we set up to meet and at the crib, we go to the house.
01:21:17Michael was so cool, bro.Like just seeing him in his, his room.real element. He had his beautiful kids there. I mean, we brought gifts for the kids. That's dope, man. That's dope, man. You know, he was just excited about going on the tour. You know, he was just like, yo, when I do this, I'm about to hit him with that.Showing like, showing AK, like some of his moves. We're sitting in the living room. And I could remember he had this Jamaican chef, bro.Jesus Christ. You know, she made this jerk.Lobster, I'm still searching for it today.
01:21:53We got a further, man.Jerk lobster, nigger.I ain't have that. You didn't have that?Maybe she's watching this. The chef that cooked for Michael, you remember when I was at the house, when we was at the house, the jerk lobster, please locate these guys or try to hit me.Jerk lobster, we didn't know.
01:22:17Now, this is at your house at Wonderland. No, this is in L.A.This is in the hills. So this is the, you think that's crazy, this is crazy. So now I'm sitting there, the thriller plaque is on the floor, like leaning against the wall. The thriller, the thriller plaque is right there. So Mike had thrill of plaque on the floor. He had the thriller plaque sitting on the floor.
01:22:39Now, he had the thriller plaque sitting on the floor along with like some other things that was looking like they was rearranging that particular area. And I said to him, I said, I said, Mike, you just got the thriller.Black on the floor like that? He's like, oh, it's nothing, yeah. You want it?He said, do you want it?Did you take it?Get the, come.
01:23:02Yo, Swiss, get the fuck out.Yo, come on.Hold on.Hold on.Let me get that.You know I wanted it.Of course.You know what I'm saying?
01:23:11But you didn't want to feel like you was asking.I didn't want to be thirsty.Like, you got to remember, like, I'm in my mind, I'm going to get back to that later.Got you. We're about to work on music. He wants to work with AK.We're about to produce a song together. This is our first time in his house.
01:23:28You know what I'm saying?Like, you know, I got a little bit of manners.Got you.Okay, okay.Okay.Right.You know I want to.I seen myself taking it when I said no.
01:23:37Of course.Mike would have it gave it to you.Like I stepped out of my body and took it and put it back. You said, I took it and put it back, my digger. You know what I'm saying?Right.Like, so I was like, he was like, you want to say, no, it's so.Okay.
01:23:51Fuck Swiss.God damn.I wish I was with you.I bet, but.Like, you Swiss, tell me to sign that shit. That shit, man. That would have been in the art collection, man.Come on, bro.
01:24:01We ain't know Michael wasn't going to be here.Of course, definitely. You understand?Definitely, man.And we was like this at this point now.Start building that racism for real. We're already talking about the next time we're going to connect.Got you.
01:24:12I'm doing the, we're doing the Jets for them.We was already locked in.You know what I'm saying? And so, and I didn't want to look Thursday in front of our white road.Oh, but she was.I don't think you would have to understand that shit.I don't think you would have looked thirsty getting a thriller plaque.Yeah, you wouldn't have been good.
01:24:27Yeah, you wouldn't have been good, man.I agree with you, yeah.I agree. You wouldn't be good. You wouldn't be good.Hey, K. would I understood that one, man.Imagine you not being prepared.I'm just complimenting the plaque.
01:24:37I just couldn't believe he had it sitting on the floor. You were so thrown off.I was thrown off.I got you.I got to the point where I just was like,no, no, I can't take that. You can not.Like, oh, it's just things, you know, it's just things.
01:24:49I know, you like, shit. And mama, I was like, I'm gonna double back.I'm gonna get at another time. And then I was like, I ain't never see him again.Crazy.You know what I'm saying?Crazy. And so, like, we have to live in that actual, in the moments.
01:25:07Like, there's no, we don't know what tomorrow is.Yes.You know what I'm saying? And forget the plaque, forget all that. But just as humans and as people, like, tell people you love them, tell people you proud of them, give people hugs, squash shit that don't.don't make real sense. You know what I'm saying?
01:25:24Because like Mike was really live and kicking. He didn't look weak.He didn't look sick.He didn't look.I thought it was a lie.I just seen him.You know what I'm saying? So it's just like I'm happy that I was able to see him with his kids celebrating and that goddamn
01:25:41lobster.We got to find a lot of shit.We got to get that live here. You know I got to ask you, top five is not enough.I need your top 10 producers, man.We know we gotta throw you in there, of course.I don't got to be in it, you know what? One, I'm gonna start with, there's no particular order, though.
01:26:02No one. There's no order. There's no order.I don't, right? So I would start with who I didn't even know was a producer at that time that influenced me.I'm gonna have to go with Scott LaRock. You know what I'm saying?Because when he did the South Bronx, it felt like I had the last name.
01:26:23Like, that was the first time I felt like I came from somewhere. You know what I'm a demon? You know, but that wasn't, that was like, that became something different to me.You know what I'm saying?Like, like your last name.Like, you're like, oh, that's my last name. But when he said the South Bronx, the South, South Bronx, I'm like,Oh, look.
01:26:43That's us.That's us for real. They're talking to me.Hey.You know what I'm saying?I look at Scott LaRock as more as a DJ.I didn't even know he produced it.South Bronx.
01:26:54Yeah, he's a producer.He worked on the TRI to wait, you know what I'm saying?Then Molly Maugh.Of course,Hands down.Queens, baby.Queens got that.You know what I'm saying?
01:27:04Queens, you know what I mean?Like the bridge, you know what I'm saying?Like so every beat, so many joints that when I went back and started seeing who was doing oneas a producer because you got a member, like Molly Maugh seemed like a DJ too.Yeah, because he was a DJ.DJ Molly Maul.Yep.Right? So that's what I was trying to tell you earlier. It was like the DJs had more presence than the producers.
01:27:29He's like, that producer shit was like that, man, niggins was like, hold up.I don't think Molly Marl was calling himself a producer, Molly Marr. He wasn't producer Marley Mar.Nope.Right. He was DJ Molly Ma'am. You know what I'm saying?Fags. And so we got Scott Lerock, Marley Marr. Primo. You know what I'm saying? Primo for sure. It's so many that I'm missing because I really like, you know, you got a large professor. You know what I'm saying? You got, of course, you got you got Ye.
01:27:59I'm getting some, I'm mixing around, you got Yeh, you got Dre, you got Farrell, you got Blaze, you got P, you got Rockwalla, you got so many. There's so many more. It's too, it needs to be 50.You know what I'm saying?Because, because like-No, it do need to be 50 greatest producers. It does because, you know, at the end of the day, making a hit.we make it look so easy.
01:28:26That shit is, you know what a hit is?That's millions of people agreeingwhat you did in the room. They used to call it what, lightning in a bottle.Yeah, it's lightning in a bottle. It'll never happen again. It don't strike twice sometimes.
01:28:39Lightning in a bottle.Yeah, you mean, then you got, you know what I'm saying? Then you got like, then you got like this generation, you know what I'm saying, a producers, you know, you got mustard,You got Heat Maker. You got Metro.
01:28:58You got Metro, my Virgo brother. You know what I'm saying? You got Hit Boy.You got Zaytovin. You got this one.You got that. There's so many people that can trick them to this art.You know what I'm saying?
01:29:11Pardon me if I forgot anybody's names.I'm bad with the names, but I know what you did.But said I thought of all of y'all, man. There's so many. We're going to make a list of 50, man.And my brother, Timberland, for sure.for sure.Oh yeah.
01:29:23You know, because, you know, then you got, you know, the hitman that they produced, the Benjamins and all of those. It's just waves of producers. And like I said, I started so young that I was able to be fans of all of those waves of producerseven with the producers today. You know what I'm saying? And it's been an honor to be here.I'm not going to lie.
01:29:45Come on it's an honor to have you on the show because I feel like some beats could never be createdover.Like stop, drop.the Benjamin's, niggas done started something.Like, you'll never hear beat like that ever, ever again in your life.Yeah, when niggas and started something came out of me.Oh, my God.I was listening to it yesterday.
01:30:03I'm closing out. We're doing the last, we're doing the last show of Godfather, Harlem. And I use niggas done star.Oh, yeah, I love, yeah, definitely. That's one of my shows.Definitely, they just took too long to keep coming back out.I was so into it, bro.Yeah, yeah.
01:30:20I mean.Like a little two-piece of, like a little finale by the big-old.Yeah, we're doing the finale now.A peep there, yeah, definitely. But I had fun with that show.We got the Westies out now, you know, which is based on.Are you part of the Westies?Yeah, yeah.
01:30:32Smart fucking shit.I was trying to put that knick.I got to watch. He's been putting me on.The Westies is pop up.Yeah.I'm gonna get on it.Oh, yeah, that's popping.
01:30:40I'm gonna get on the Westie. You know, great.Stop making like I ain't been around for 25 years, Brady.I got to watch it.He's put me on to it.The Westies is pop.But I ain't gonna lie.I'm gonna be Josh's shit, I can't lie to you, bro.
01:30:52That is my shit, bro. You're gonna, look. The new season's coming. We're doing one. It's like a two piece or something like that, like, yeah. It's going to get, it's going to get hectic.I was in the studio last night, pitting the pieces together and I listened to niggas and startedsomething, because that was like the energy of the opening scene.
01:31:11Oh, okay.Felt like that, you know what I'm saying? And it was just.Like it's invincible, like you guard something.Yeah, that was about shit.Yeah, because we had D here and I was, and I was,I was asking, I was like, what the fuck was the studio like that night? Was you in the studio that night?
01:31:24Of course.Oh my God.See, this is, like, how it started, this is how the process went. They did that in the yonka studio? That was in the yonker studio, I did that? All right, copy.Yeah, Powerhouse. But this is how it went.
01:31:38We, me, P.K., Greece, we'll give D the CDs or the tape or the deck.Whatever it was, we'll give it to them. And then when you go, then we'll,Then we'll meet up on 125th Street. So then they had the land roversand all that stuff out there. And then when you pull up to there, you'll hear of beat playing all day.
01:32:02And so Dia called,yo, kids, come to the fifth.Yo, du, do you, Mace, pull up, where you at?And so I have the photo.I think it was the photo. It was the Burgundy Land Cruiser, same one Big had.Mace was sitting in the,
01:32:19the back, kiss was on the side, style was on the side and they was rap, they was writingthat joint, right then and there.Wow, look at that.Like, they wrote, if I'm not mistaken, they wrote niggas and started something, the mainparts on 125th Street. And I'm not surprised Dee called everybody to get the other because that's how Dee was.Dee love hanging around the artist, having niggas spit in.Me and I was supposed to talk about this yesterday, Dee probably don't wrote so many verses for
01:32:43niggas, like, not even thinking about it though.Dea just be there popping so much shit before you know when you take it.shit from whatever Dee saying. You're taking the part of D conversation and putting it into your music.Yeah, because, you know, he used to, they didn't know the shoes he had on with CaesarPachote's.They didn't know with iceberg and different things. That wasn't part of the era or they budget at that time.
01:33:03Facts.You know what I'm saying?Facts.Facts.He was doing all that 5,001 pony hairs and this and like, you know what I mean?Like, he just always was like to be fly.So when they was getting into that side of it, he was giving them all those differentpointers on.
01:33:19find it for them. Like, yo, throw this on right here. Now, let me see that. Now, put these shades on withit. Here, go ahead. You know what I mean? Like, so he loved, like, fashion, music. He's just,he's a curator in his own sense. Like, why I curate more of a movement, de-curate what youdo with the movement? You know what I'm saying? Like, especially, like, from the artist. So he did want to hear every record from the artist. I don't give a fuck of, even if he hadthe DMX's in all of him, right? He's still murdered. Give me every record that you record. I want toevery fucking record. But when you think about that record, right?
01:33:53It's like, it's just always questionablewho had the best verse. It's like, and then DMX came at the end. This is what I liked about it.It just went crazy. He came at the end and just went.Don't come with no bullshit.Use caution.
01:34:05Like, who's your favorite verse?I know my favorite verse.I'm going to keep it real. It's just, it's between X, Jada, and. That's my favorite. No, no, ex Jada, and I ain't going to lie.I felt like, because I always feel like Mace and Jada was kind of getting at each other on that.
01:34:27It just felt like it was a combination. She went crazy on that one to me.She went crazy.Styles went crazy. She went crazy to that one to me.I don't know.Maybe it got more dramatic because DMX, he just came different than everybody.Because it was like, all, what DMX is going to say after you are at all in bars?
01:34:43You know what I mean? And did he come out with those bullshit?Use caution. There's a wet shit, dead shit.Like a ball. And then it was just like, and the beat was changing. It's just a big debate, man.I like Mace verse the best.
01:34:56Damn.That's just me.And I love all my guys. But the thing what Mace did, I liked the way he just came in like. You're going to make me listen to that.I got to listen. How did Mace verse started?I got to go listen to this whole shit again.
01:35:10Because Jada kiss was like, check out the-Because S-P went crazy too.The styles went crazy too.Everybody got boss.Everybody went crazy. You know, Mace and the locks and then, like just the way.the way he just slid in there, like he just was like, just, he just had a tower on his neck.Did he start with the so-sun?
01:35:24It was like, it was-Eclos it felt like- It was like Effin'all. That was kids.Oh, that was kissed. You know, a mason of locks, man. You're on the stage sponsing the nicken making a hack. You don't really want to come try one guy.I'm going to stay dumb-haw, blah, blah, la.I'll write to sing, sing a long-la.
01:35:41Yeah, they were crazy. They were crazy. They were crazy. Then I beat them down with aluminum. Then I put two in them. You hear that?He went crazy.Yeah, he went crazy.
01:35:51That's not, I mean, that's amazing.Mace is one of them. He's not Mace's one of them. But I like, I probably like people versus at different parts of the time of my life.Yeah, yeah, I can see that. You know what I see that? When we first did it, it was kiss. You know what I'm saying?
01:36:06Then later it was X, right? It kept switching. Then it was sheet for like a long time.I'm about to say, because I, a long time.I remember my wife after came, my knick, like, man, secret, blood on this.Blood on this.Long time.
01:36:19Said out to my brother, Sheik. She said, she's crazy on that.Yes, she did.She gets dangerous spitter.Fags, you better believe it.Stiles is dangerous spitter too.Everybody got their moments where they rock better, but that beat, you know what I'm saying?Shout to Dane, grease, man.
01:36:36Like, that beat, I was, I was inspired by that beat.Definitely, definitely.A lot of people, like, a lot of people used to like to put me and Dane against each other. But, you know, you can't take away a person's gift.Right.You know, we might not agree on things personally because we just both young. And it'd be like that. And it'd be like that.
01:36:58Ego, competitive, shit like that is all good. You know what I'm saying? But as far as that man's craft, like the fact that you could say, niggas don't startsomething and get at me dog in the same sentence, that's dangerous.Definitely.You ain't lying. You ain't lying. That's dangerous.
01:37:13That is dangerous. You ain't lying about this. You know, P.K.too. You know, P.K., you know, those records that P.K. was producing with X brought some of thebest out of X. Yes. Yes. You know what I'm saying? It brought the best out of X. And we were justall hungry just to hold the flag. You know what I'm saying? But the good part is we all got tohold the flag. Definitely. You know what I'm saying? In some different ways. But, you know,I remember how we was living. Like, I was sleeping on the studio floor. Greece was in an abandoned
01:37:41building and vacant lot. P.K. was in another type of situation in Yonkers. We all came from nothing into something. You know what I'm saying? And that's why I like, I just like that as men,we're able to grow up several differencesand salute each other as generous.Definitely, definitely.Of the craft.
01:38:00You know what I'm saying?Because, you know, the ego is the killer. You know what I mean?Like, that's just the whole thing. It's just like, in our culture and our community periods,it's like the ego is the killer.Like, if you could put that little man away?Oh, man.
01:38:11You know what I'm saying? If you could put that little man away?Muckers, if we get so much more together.more together boy.But sheesh. The ex and Jake really battle was just a cypher back then, like, was that years ago?Yeah, on the table.Yeah, the old bad that they told me.
01:38:25Yeah, that was a real battle.Yeah.You was there for that?I wish. No, man, you'd be missing a lot of great moments, you know.Look, Swiss is funny. What the fuck, Swiss? You was in that studio.
01:38:36He was hearing that million of beat.He was like, yo, I'm staying in.Yeah.Fuck you.Good old days.Timberlin, Trey, all of my.All of all the old fathers, they got the good old days money. You know what type of drug that was for me?
01:38:49I can imagine.500 to a mill?A popper. That was a different type of drug.Without the money.Budgets was crazy.I didn't even care about the money.Just the creative part back then.
01:38:58Just to hear people singing something that you made in that studio off that little machine. That felt like a different type of power. You know what I'm saying?Like the money was cool because you could buy things. But getting the audience and the people to agree to some shit that youdid in the room at 4 a.m. in the morning that got a Woodstock singing, that was a differenttype of drug for me. That you and your man just thinking it's high than everybody else agreed. The world, millions agree. Yes, this shit is. That's a high you can never get. That's different.
01:39:28I'm still not over it. That's a different kind of high. I look at those videos and be bugginggoosebumps and I'm like, yo, we did that. Like my kids be like that's, I'm like, yeah. You know what I'm saying? And it feels like money, the money part, that's going to come and go many times.saying, but like the feeling, the actual feeling of making it from where we came from is different.Plaza Kia makes car buying easy, as easy as driving. The 2027 Kia Seltos, with expansive cargo space and comfort. The Kia Seltos SUV is ready to inspire your next great adventure.Plaza Kia, built by trust, defined by experience, offering a huge selection of new and certified

01:45:11They're not relatable. You know what I'm saying?Like they know we was literally right there. You know what I'm saying?Like I took my son back to the block the other daydoing a workout on D block, seeing going to my old apartment, seeing how we used to ran down the pissy stairs.
01:45:27Definitely, definitely. The whole thing, you know what I'm saying?Because it's one thing for you to go back, but for your kids to see that too and understand. We was talking about that. And they took them out there the next day.It was. That was showtime.
01:45:40It's a short time. The next day, after you're taking something out there.Next day, it's like that.Yeah.It's like that. You know what I'm saying? But we got to always keep the youth grounded no matter how high we think we are.You know what I'm saying?
01:45:52Because if we don't teach them from where we come from, then we didn't do that. They can be subject to the same danger.Definitely.You know what I'm saying? It's just like, yo, be honorable, stay on your toes and know where you come from or you might not find your way back home.Definitely.You know what I'm saying? But we're glad to have you here.
01:46:11I'm glad to see, like, producers back in.I know you doing the Harlem thing, you know, the Bumpy Johnson story.I'm glad you back in on the movie side.I see Drey, you know, working with Nyes. Are you interested in any new artists?I know you're dealing with Scarlet. It's getting a new artist.
01:46:26Yeah, I know y'all got Scarlet.Yeah, I mean, I got a lot of music coming out. It's just when I do the music, I like to build it upand I like to come in out as troves.I don't really like doing like singular things.Like what I do is I build up the storm and then hit people with it.Right.You know what I'm saying?
01:46:47It just feels better that way to have like a runway.I got probably about 20 junks coming out.Because when I look at Swiss, I'm like in Rough Riders, I look like it's a lot of pressureto even try to be an artist on their label because look, come on, they had fuckingB-block even DMX.I know too many effects.Like, you know, shout to Scarlet, but that's a lot of fucking pressure. No, it is.
01:47:06It is.Swinz gonna even be interested in your shit, like coming in there?Like, I know what you mean? You know what you mean?DMX, D Block and Eve?Bro.You try to follow up with that?Bro, it's kinda hard, bro.
01:47:18Shout to Scarlet, she's definitely dope. She got the passion. Her album reminds me of a female DMX sometimes. She's definitely, she got that passion in her sometimes, when I give it to me.She's a real artist.Definitely is, man.And I tell her like, because a lot of artists, the TikTok and all these different thingscan form how people see them.
01:47:37You know, like, when I seen Scars, she was like writing poems about black women andgoing through some things, yes, you know, and not looking apart and not being acceptedand like on some Lauren Hill type of vibe. Then I heard on some Lovers Blind, like Eve type of vibe. Then I heard on some DMX type of vibe. I was like, yo, like, she's not on some TikTok shit.Like she's a artist, artist, artist, artist for a career, yes.You know what I'm saying? So I'll be trying to tell like, yo, hit him with one of these. She's like, man, the kids want to hear this.I'm like, I understand that.
01:48:09I'm not trying to take you away from that. You know what I'm saying? But like, she's really a musical instrumentfrom where she come from and where she's been through. You know what I'm saying?Like, you know, her going from being homelessto land in a major deal, you know, that she fully owns. You know, I don't own nothing of scars.
01:48:29Look at that.I don't get paid from nothing from scar.Look at that. You understand?Like, I felt that, you know,So it's crazy.Anybody else would have robbed her.And I'm glad you did that on some real shit.
01:48:40Salute to that, man.Anybody else would have robbed them, man.Real talk.Well, they was trying to.I bet. And, you know, we moved past that, you know what I'm saying?Because she's really talented. And I remember X's fiancee calling me this real talk
01:48:54telling me that X came to her in the dream about some girl named Scarlett. You fucking lying. That's crazy.Because in interviews, you'll see she said that she was hitting me up to work with me.And I was just like giving a light energy, like, you know what?Like, you know, like, yo, keep doing this.Giving a positive energy.I was, I was like, you know what, I throw a bee or something.
01:49:16She's trying to do the right thing.Once I got that phone call, I was like, okay, I get off the bench.I got to get off the bench for this shit.I got to go get active.I got to get active.Do you think it's harder for like a scarl of that, like, because DMX had substance.DEMX had a story.story. Now, you know, artists, you know, shout to Young Miami, how to show, spend that shit,
01:49:39spend that shit like that, like, T.I. Bring them out, bring them out straight for the club.Like, do you feel like it's easier when you make that, that club hit bang or that TikTokbang or that Instagram bang or like they don't want artists to have substance like thatno more, you feel? Well, Scarlet do have. No, she got substance, yes. She got, no, she got the bangerstoo. You know what I'm saying? Like, she just finished finishing her album now. Okay. Okay.I was just getting into more of how we got into the Scarlet of universe.Gotcha.You know what I'm saying?
01:50:09Because I didn't want to do artists anymore. You know what I'm saying?Like, I got five kids.I got the baby since.I got my own art.I got real life artists.Like that's what I want to do with no artists.I got real artists.
01:50:21I'm really responsible for.Even my team was like, what are we doing? We going here?I was like, nah, like this girl is special and we got to do the right thing by her.You know what I'm saying?and shout to Zeke and Sylvia Rohnbecause they definitely gave an unprecedented situation.Look at that.
01:50:40You know what I'm saying? And now it's her time. Now she got to do that thing.I don't know. For me, like I said, my first tour was your tour,Cash Money, Rough Riders.I went on tour with Nause, Nostradamus. So I had a, it's been a wild ride with 50.
01:50:55I remember when Ludacris pause,I could say wild ride pours up.I was a fuck.So like, even Ludacris.I remember like going Atlanta early, how to Rob.Ludacris was doing radio. So for me, you know what I'm saying? We started at that same radio station, 95, the college joint with him and Shaka Zulu.
01:51:14Look at that. That was crazy. So we and we and Grady had a group called AOD.That's crazy.Yeah.And that's what our first record as a group was played right there with Shaka Zulu. That's crazy. And Ludacris.
01:51:26Remember when they had the hip hop dinah back then? That's crazy.Yeah.See, I got so much of nostalgic stuff from being with 50 that I don't know.I feel like the nostalgic times it'll never be the same for what I've seen. You know what I'm saying?Like I said, Cash Money Rough Rider tour. That was like a major tour like seeing Rough Rider, seeing DMX, seeing, and we're open
01:51:47the act.Howder all, me and 50.You know what I'm saying?I'm like, wow.Like it was just so much nostalgic tours and stories and history.I think that's when the fans really love the artist.Yeah.You know what I think it was a different time where...
01:52:02It was more exclusive though, but artists, because now you know you see them so much.Back then, you didn't get to see the artist as much.Maybe in the magazine when it came out, videos once in the blue, but now you get to see your art. It's like, you man, you open your phone, what this nigga doing? You see a nigga eating, sleep, you know, all type of shit.
01:52:16It's like, it's no more. You're not surprised with the artist no more. You think you better than the artist.Exactly.I'm getting more money than the artist. That's how this nigga moving.Even like, what makes you special, even like reading the credits, like,
01:52:29You see, oh, yo, Jay got a Swiss beat on there?Like having us, it was different.Yes, all that back.Even with producers, it was just more nostalgic, bro.Yeah, yeah.To me, you know what I mean? Now, on another note, Swiss, a lot of people don't know, but they see you, you got a dope relationship with L.
01:52:45They see you helped them out during his timeswith this whole case and shit.Talk about your relationship with Dirk a little bit, man.Man, you know, Dirk is a great guy.You know what I'm saying? And, you know, a lot of the artists, you know,I have a great relationship, non-music related.Facts.
01:53:02You know what I'm saying? They can reach out to me for anything.Because, you know, I know what happened is like a lot of,I was lucky to get the information because of my uncles.Right.But a lot of the younger artists, they didn't really have peoplegiving them the blueprint and the positive information. Now, they would call them for things that have benefit them.
01:53:23You know what I'm saying? But they're not really sitting there listening to the artistsdealing with real life shit.Because you know, after you get up the stage, life is actually real.Yes.Right, right. You go back to reality. You go back to the real shit in case people ain't know, right?
01:53:38And so a lot of times when artists reach out to me, they'll speak to me about real things. And when I'm listening to Dirk speak, it was always positivity. You know what I'm saying? Now where he grew up, how he grew up is the same place like where we grew up and how we grew up.You know what I'm saying? And, you know, and we've been a product of a lot of you know, and we've been a product ofour times, many times. But that doesn't mean that we don't have good intentions
01:54:05and want to change things.I mean, this man has been talking about changing things positivelyfor a long time. And I see a lot of people overlooking that partand getting straight to the other vibes. You know, but if this man is saying that he changed his life, give him a chance to change his life.Definitely.
01:54:21You know what I'm saying? And so, you know, I wish my brother the best of the best.Free dirt. For sure. For sure. You know what I'm saying? I just know him for wanting to do the positive vibes.Right. And I support it. You know what I'm saying? Because he got a family, you know, and, you know, I don't get in the mix of what people got going on on their personal street vibe. That's their personal street vibe. I never, whatever somebody got going on with that, that's their thing.
01:54:49But as a human that I speak to as a person, I feel he's a good person. You know what I mean? And that's my brother. You know what I'm saying? And shout to his father.as well who did time and is coming out as came out to be a positive reinforcement inDirk's life as well. You know what I'm saying? Every court date being there, you know, likeDirk been with me, Dirk been with me out the country and everything. You know what I'm saying? He came on my birthday at the, at the Hennessy mansion. You know what I'm saying? Him and his wife. Why? Because people need to see different things sometimes too. You know what I'm saying? Like,Like, most people just want to keep people like where they think they should belong.
01:55:29Nah, like, he want to do positive things?Let's show them something different.Definitely.You know what I'm saying? So it's super love to my brother, man.See you soon, inshally.Free Dirk, we'll see you soon, man.Yeah, Swiss, you know what I wanted to ask you?
01:55:42It seemed like before you get out of here, I know you got a million things to do by art, by cars. It's raining. It's been, it's...By J company and things like that.I freed my whole day.Swiss and Timble and made all the money, y'all. You're going to get to that. No, for real.

02:00:44Like there's no artist development anymore. It's like you got to come with a high product.Female artists, male artists, whatever it is.But it seemed like things were better back then. But the art development thing, yeah.Like the label actually helped you.Now it's like, we want you to be hot and then we'll fuck with you.Well, the label never developed nothing for us.I'm gonna keep it a thousand.
02:01:09But what the label did was provide a service that developed artists could get on and actuallydo something. You know what I mean? Now we did have, I seen other companies, like when I would work with other artists, they would havehave an A&R that would come and sit down with meand give me some guidance on what they feltthat the artist should go.You know what I'm saying?
02:01:31Because me and the artists are getting the studentand we'll just catch record all night.Fags.I ain't care. You know what I'm saying? That thing hit, right? Then the A&R come like, listen.A&R like, listen.
02:01:42I know he went the street, kill up everybody. We need the party. We need party up, Swiss.Yes.We need to do.We need this record.I got you.
02:01:54I got you.Right? And so that's a part of the development because most artists don't know how to pick their music also.Right.You know what I'm saying?Like a lot of artists, if you listen to when artists leave their producers, they sound go horrible. You know what I'm saying?Like a lot of artists, I don't know what, like X couldn't pick no beats.
02:02:14You know what I'm like?Like he landed on great beats, but that was based off of relationships.Him and Greece had like a relationship.Him and P.K. had a relationship.Me and him had a relationship. But outside of that, let X bring a beat tape to you.I'd be like, man, we're going to take the vocals? You can't do that shit.
02:02:35So that's what I got Coochis. We actually got where to hood that.We got where to hood and we're going to hear that.Yeah, because X could make some gangster shit and then how it's going down. That was one of my shits. That was it.Yeah, but that was being curated. You know what I'm saying?
02:02:50Like that's being curated. So that's going to the development of what you're saying. So D had a lot to do with the development. You know what I'm saying? And then at Irv Gotti at a certain point, at a very early point,it had something to do with the development. And then we just caught the formula ourselves and just knew what we needed to do.It was like it was just very simple.
02:03:12We need something for the party. We need something for the women. And we need something for the streets.Right.So those are the three brackets that we would just jump into at any given time.Like, you, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. And then extras really like that. You know what I'm saying?
02:03:27Like, you can have an artist, but if the artist ain't, if you ain't got the smoke, you ain't got the smoke. That's it.It's nothing we could do.I don't care how hungry you motherfuckers is.I can give you a beat of beats. If you can't carry it, you can't carry it.You know what I'm saying? And so, but we are in a different time with one thing that they're going to always go back to is timeless talent.
02:03:50Right.You know what I'm saying? So like all the artists watching this, yeah, you could do it quick for the TikTok.But just know this time next year we ain't gonna remember it.Like that's gone already. You only remember, like, I remember you just remember what you had on when you heardthe song.Right.
02:04:06You know what I'm saying?Like you remember who you was dating what you had on when you went to actually see that person. You bring that feeling you here, set up record, you start thinking about them times.Like, ooh, damn, I remember when this is now.Yeah, oh, dude, boy. That's what I love about verse is.Speaking on that for a little bit what you did with that, you brought back a certain era, man.Yes.
02:04:25How did that thing come?Go ahead. That's what you gotta let him know, though. What's that?He versus came because COVID came.Of course.Yeah.We were stuck in the house.
02:04:34There was nothing to do.Everybody was bored. There was no shows, no money. The world was shut down. How did you in Timberland sit in the studio and say, fuck it, we're going to do versus? How the fuck does that work?To sell it for multi-millioners dollars.Yeah, still a part of it, but I know y'all made a lot of money on that.
02:04:50Because you always on the money, Swiss. This is great. This is a great question.First of all, verses are celebrating 20 years this year.Set out the verses 20 years.20 years.Yes.Yes.
02:05:02Yes.Yes.Yes.You know, so it was, you know, I tell people like, there's no way to skip the line. You know, there's, you can't skip the line with greatness. Now, you can skip the line with something that's quick and things that people are not talking about this time next year. You know, I started versus first started 20 years ago.Me versus Kanye West,
02:05:29Giant Stadium, Summer Jam.You could Google it.That was the first verse. We need you all to Google us and bring that up.Swiss Beach versus Kanye at Summerjee.Yeah, yeah. And shout to Ye for doing that. You know, I reached out to many producers to do it.
02:05:45And Ye was one that said, yeah, let's do it.And then the one I did after that, was with Just Blaze.Shout to Just Blaze.Right, I did that with Just Blaze. And I did that one with Just Blaze because he didn't feel like I called him, like he didn't feel I called him out to do the one with me and Yeh.But I remember I did.
02:06:08We reached out and said he didn't want to do it.He felt like what you felt like I ain't one of them ones or something.Right, right, right.Yeah.Yeah.And so.And then he just started going, doubling down on wanting to do, wanting to do a battle.with me. And, you know, he's seen my wife and was like, yeah, tell Swiss that I'm ready
02:06:28when he's ready.Mm.And I was just- You're trying to bring the smoke to my, you try to let my, my, you think my,got my wife thinking I'm ducking you, nigger.I is up now. That was up, that.Personal now, just blaze. He did it that night.
02:06:39Mm.Oh.That's how you know what niggas takes you.See?Oh, he said what?I said no more. You did it that night.Look at that.
02:06:46Don't tell wife you that bullshit.Yeah, that. You said that night. We did it that night.Look at that. And that's when Ero was, Ebro held the joint the whole time.It was a great time.I mean, you know, shout to Just Blaze.
02:07:00I mean, Just Blaze did a lot of, a lot of classics.Definitely.Oh, we definitely know that.Yeah, he's like, yeah.Just Blaz did a lot of claddle.I cleaned his clock that night, though.Asthma attacks happened.Clean the clock, man.
02:07:15Like I said, asthma tax happened.Oh, man.Nah, nah, nah, no, no.I'm only giving it to him.like that because of how we started. It's all good. It's all good.It was a great time.
02:07:25And this is hip hop.Like, you understand?Of course. We can't be all sensitive and soft when it comes. That's what happened.Yeah, that's what happened.Yeah.Yeah, I cleaned his clock that night.
02:07:35Yeah, I got fun.We had a great time. You know what I mean? And that's like the thing. It was like, yo, you can't say nothingand be careful with this, man.We went to war that night.Definitely.
02:07:44He played his heat.I played my heat. And I came out on top.Period.The people had a great time. You know what I'm saying? So we fast forward to the COVID.No.
02:07:53Me and Timberland did one on stage also.Back then as well?Yeah, like after the Just Blaze joint, me and Tim did one.It was at, um, it was at one, it was not, it was, was it was, was it at another summer jam?It was at some place like another summer jam.But the thing is, people wasn't really on this social media vibe like that.It was more for like whoever person was like the footage. It was like, who was there.
02:08:18Yeah, got you.You know what I'm saying? It was like, who was there. And so now COVID jump off and everybody's thinkingthe things to do it.I didn't want to DJ because I love what D. Nice was doing. You know what I was going to do?I was going to do some comedy joint.
02:08:34He made open.Everybody was rocked up with D. Nice.He had to poppy.Yeah.Shout to D. Nice. One of the ones putting off of the peopleat a very hard time. And then Tim hit me up and was like, yo, I think we should
02:08:49run it back while everybody chilling at the crib, boom, boom.I was like, let's dance. We did that that night. You know what I'm saying? And so he was like, all right, we're going to just set it off and just,I'm going to start playing some beats and challenge you. You're going to play some beats and challenge me.We're going on, you know, on the Instagram.
02:09:09And then people was, was feeding into it.And then I'm in the, I'm in the basement at the crib.He and his studio. And then we just went live for five hours.Crazy.The Versus was born.Crazy.And the new verses was born.
02:09:22And the new verses was born.Yes.And it was so crazy because it was like DeNicist DJing Obama's on there.Michelle Obama's on there.Like y'all have verses.Yeah.We're seeing all in the comments.Definitely.
02:09:36They're watching the verses. It brought all of those people with the people.Yeah.You know what I'm saying? So like you got this one Michelle Obama and then somebody right from the Bronx right under her.Right.That was crazy.Real talk.
02:09:49Real talk.Real talk. That's like, that's when you knew it was different.Real shit.I ain't goin for it.That's why me and murder my guys like you because it's not just the music. It's what y'all did with the music.Y'all, it went from clothes to art.
02:10:04Biggie with the Coojee's, you and J with the art, you know, 50 and other guys with thesneakers and the clothing and rough riders, the motorcycles.Brandon and DMX, rest in peace, and belly. It was like the stuff y'all did outside the music was legendary too.not only just the music, you know what I mean?Yeah, because, you know, at the end of the day, we got to, like, use our tools properly. You know what I'm saying?Because one day we're going to sit down and look back on all the stuff.
02:10:35And when you grade that report card, it should be what you wanted to be.Definitely, man.You know what I'm saying?Like, because we had enough times to fuck up, but we have probably more time to correct it.Right, yes.See, and that's like, wow man, it's like, yo, how can I wake up every damn be?a better me.You know what I'm saying?
02:10:52Because being a better me is going to help other people be better than them. You can't love someone if you don't love yourself.Like you can't, how can you truly love someone and you ain't giving yourself up?Self going to love. You know what I'm saying?Real shit. And so, like, and that's why I try to tell her like,yo, I see you doing everything for everybody else.
02:11:07What's you doing for you?You know what I mean?Like, everybody's going to throw everything in your lap.But what are you doing for you?Real shit. You know what I'm saying?Because at the end of the day,if you can't help yourself, you can't help other people.
02:11:21And those other people might not even help you back. You understand? So don't set yourself up where you can't walk up them stairs. You can't be able to walk up them stairs. You can carry people, but you better make sure if no one carry you, you can carry yourself.Yes.You know what I'm saying? We depend on they and them to do things that we're supposed to be doing for ourselves.
02:11:42And that's not how it's supposed to go.But, you know, Versus has been, let me, like, it's so much I want to say about it.But, like, I actually like being cool about it.You know what I'm saying?Right. But, like, Versus was not an easy lift.Right.It's a job.
02:12:02You know what I'm saying? It's a job that we make look great for the people, and we never charge anyone ever to see it.You know what I'm saying?Would you make it look real easy? You make it look?We never, you know, we could have did that a hundred times, but we always maintain the integrity of the brand. And, you know, and yes, you know, we did a transaction during COVID with the company.
02:12:28But I never even really tried to explain this because, you know, like, there's timing for everything. You know, like, when people want to hear what they want to hear, it's nothing. You can say to change what they want to hear. They sold out, man. They sold out all this bullshit. No, we sold in.Got you.Real tall.
02:12:47They cashed out. What do you mean? No, we cashed in.Facts.That's right. We didn't cash out.You know what I mean?Like that's like, you know, going back to school for me was very important.
02:12:58And, you know, because as a creative, I was hitting a ceiling. And most creators, we hit the ceiling because we have the talent, but we don't have the knowledgeto go past where the investors go, to go past where the venture capitalist go or, you know,or the private equity funds and things.things that like to come in and do business with us.Right.So when they come in to us, we think that they got. What?
02:13:22No, they're just somebody that seen something they like and can afford it.But that don't make you more superior than Yale or murder because you got a check. What makes them superior is us not having the knowledge of how that deal go when they have that check. That's the difference.Right.So when the company approached us, it was because it was something that they needed. And then we realized it was something that we needed.Right.
02:13:52So what happened was when we was approached, we was like, yo, this makes sense becauseversus don't have an evaluation. Why doesn't versus have an evaluation? We never charged the people to watch the show.Got you.Right.Got you.Right.
02:14:08So we was charging pay-per-view for all these. You would have an evaluation.Like, okay, boo boo boo, got you.So we went into a company that had an evaluation of a billion dollars or whateverwas at the number at that time.Put verses in that company, got majority shares of that company, right? So it's like we own Def Jam, we sold it to Vivendi, but we own the majority sharesin Vivendi.
02:14:38Did we still own DeF Jam?Of course.Okay.Of course.Right? So that's all that play was right there. It would take us 10 years to raise the evaluation to be able to continue doing verses becausewe don't charge the people to watch it that we had to get inside a company that already had
02:14:59the capital for us to do it.But we own that part of it.And then what we did was all of the artists at that time that did it for free, we gave themshares in that particular in that company.Look at that.Look at that.Look at that.Look at that.
02:15:15Come on, look at that.Yeah.When we get out of him, you know, I do my homework on, you know, on the guys with the money, you know what I'm saying? On the guys with the money. When they come to you, Ferell, you, Ferell, J, I got to give you to y'all.I'm not a hater.Y'all watch game is crazy.
02:15:34What the fuck is that alien watcher? What is that?Hey, it's crazy.I know that's like about a half of a man. What is that? What is the alien watch on your wrist? This is, it's called MBNF.It's six cities in the world.
02:15:48Shoot.I told you. But, you know. No, no, no.Six in the world, how much that's that course? It's an alien watch. That's what I'm trying to tell you.Couple of dollars.
02:15:58Couple dollars. You might not want to be a couple dollars. That's cool. That's cool.A couple dollars, but you know, I love the independent watchmakers, right?I remember what I was telling you before was like everybody's going to run to what theyneed today. And that's cool.
02:16:14But look at the-The Richard Millies, the APs, they're going to go where that was popular right now.Yeah, when I was wearing Richards, they thought they were Hewblos. When I was wearing Hewblos, you know what I mean? They thought they thought they were Rolexes. You know what I'm saying?Like when I was wearing APs, they thought they was Rolex.Right.
02:16:31Like you can go back to the dub cover magazine with a full factory-Who's wearing an AP back then?Full factory. That's crazy.Bus down factory on the cover of dub with braids in my hair with an AP on.You know what I'm saying?Like that's how, I've been in the watches like forever.Yeah.
02:16:47No, I know. Are you, Farrell, J.?Like for instance, when you say Richard Millie, Farrell got an ill Richard Millie, but it's like a one of a kind. It's not nothing you would see.Like the watches they wear, there's nothing you can see.Farrell designed with Richard.I designed with Debertune.Okay.
02:17:02You know what I'm saying? So look at Debertune.P got Richard.I think me and P, like the only two definitely that design a watch in that particularcaliber. You know what I'm saying?Like there's other collaborations that we do.But like P's watch is not like a collab, it's like it's a design.
02:17:23You know what I'm saying?Like I'm at season one, two, I'm at season four with my Debertone. And so season one, so all I'm joined sold out before we even get to the shows. That's just like a passion that I have as well. It's like, so you want to look at MBNF.NBNF.You want to look at Debittoon. You want to look at Yurik.
02:17:46You want to look at which one of them.Like those are like, those are those, those right there are the great starter pack for all theconversational.Got you.Got you.I'm going to let that.Space.That's a fact.
02:18:01And Farrell and Jay, they do it, man.I can't lie, man.Yo.So we is getting some new music coming from SWIFELMAN.Yes.We are getting some new music.Y'all gonna get a big surprise.Mm.
02:18:11We got a lot of music.I got a lot of music number. One, I'm really excited about it's like a big surprise because it's never been done before.Okay.So this one, this one, this one will leave for the books.Let's go, man.We talked about art.You know as far as music too, but as far as the wrap-up, the only people that I give the rap-up to before actually come out, being that we hear,
02:18:30it's Swiss.Of course. He actually gets a preview.I was just thinking about the rap.He gets a preview before, before.Preview before it come out.I sent it to Swiss and I got my brother Snoop Dog, Snoop 2.Snoop he hit me murder.
02:18:43I need that now, Nick.Real talk.Swiss is.We appreciate your time.Definitely.We got to get y'all doing more music too though.Oh no.Yes, no.
02:18:52We on it, man.I got a project I'm about to drop, set out the Empire in Neem.I'm about to drop a project, but I got to get more on the two years.I love it.My passion is this though, man. This is my passion for- Yeah, my guy.Yeah, my God loved the social media.I love this right here.
02:19:01You know, hearing how you had a fucking AP back in Dub Magazine. And now niggas are talking about AP and all this shit. And I like talking about the art and the different things you did and selling beats for a million dollars, motherfucker.Like, I like him and shit like that, bro.For real, man.Make some noise for Swiss beats. There's beats in the building, the legend. The icon, the legend.
