00:00Hi, this is Joel and Victoria. Thanks for listening to our podcast and thanks for supporting the ministry. If you enjoy today's message, why don't you be a blessing and share it with a friend. We appreciate you and pray for God's very best in your life.Well, God bless you. It's a joy to come into your homes. We love you.And if you're ever in our area, please stop by and be a part of one of our services.
00:22I promise you we'll make you feel right at home. But thank you for tuning in.And thanks again for coming out.I'd like to start with something funny, and I heard about this man.He was at the airline ticket counter hollering and screaming at the agent, being so rudeas he continued to rant and rave. The agent was just as calm and polite as could be, treated him so respectfully like it didn'teven bother her.
00:47He left and the next man stepped up and said, wow, I am so impressed. You must be a Christian. How could you possibly be so kind to him?She smiled and said, oh, it wasn't that hard.See, he's going to Detroit, but his bags are going to Bangkok.Hold your Bible up and say it like you mean it.This is my Bible.I am what it says I am.
01:10I have what it says I have.I can do what it says I can do.Today, I will be taught the word of God.I boldly confess, my mind is alert, my heart is receptive.I will never be the same.In Jesus' name.God bless you.I want to talk to you today about being a now person.
01:31It's easy to put things off.We plan on doing it.We have good intentions. We're just going to do it later. One day I'm going to start exercising. One day I'm going to get my finances in order. One day I'm going to forgive that person that hurt me.The problem with this kind of thinking is one day never comes.
01:52There will always be some reason not to do it.how many people know down in their heart things they need to change.God's been dealing with them for months, maybe even years, but they keep making excuses.Soon as I get through this busy season, then I'll spend more time with my family.Soon as the price of gas goes down, then I'll start tithing my income.Soon as my child gets out of diapers, then I'm going to get my family back in church. They try to justify it knowing that they're planning to do it.but good intentions don't equal obedience.
02:29The quicker you do what you feel down in your spirit, the happier you're going to be.The reason some people go around with this heaviness is they've got so much unfinished business. They know they need to forgive. They know they need to treat someone better, but they just keep putting it off.The longer we put it off, the more difficult it's going to become.I heard a point.Procrastination is my weakness. It only brings me sorrow.
02:56I know I should give it up.In fact, I will tomorrow.Friends, tomorrow never comes. It's always out in the future. When God brings something to light,if you'll deal with it right at the first, you'll have a special grace. You'll feel God's enabling power
03:15helping you to do it.God will never ask you to do somethingand then not give you the ability to do it.But when we're passive,We think, yes, I know I need to do it.Maybe next week.Next week turns into next month.Next month turns into next year.
03:31What happens is we miss that season of grace.Let me ask you, is there something you're putting off?You know you should take that class to improve your skills, but you're going to do it later. You know you should get up a little earlier to have that quiet time, but you haven't got around to it.This is a call to action.your destiny stands before you.God has something amazing in your future. But it says in proverbs, complacency kills.
04:02Being passive will keep you from God's best. And many times, it's not big things that hold us back. It's small things. You haven't balanced your checkbook in two years.Every time you go to write a check, you feel guilty.Something says, get your finances in order.Don't put it off.If you're not faithful with what you have, God won't entrust you with more.
04:25One lady told me how she hadn't balanced her checkbook in so long, she just closed the accountand opened up a brand new one.At least she took action.I have people tell me, Joel, I'm going to start giving.I'm going to start tithing my income as soon as I make more money. No, don't wait till you have $1,000.Tithe on the $10 you have right now.Little things.
04:48You drive home. You see that garage you've been meaning to clean for six months.Every time you look out there, it depresses you.Don't go another day like that.Put your foot down.Like Larry, the cable guy says, get her done.Do something about it.It's amazing how much more we'll enjoy life if we don't put things off.
05:10When we procrastinate, it causes us to feel badly about ourselves.New a man at the gym years ago, and he started having some health issues.I found out that he didn't have insurance. He was struggling financially. I knew deep down I wassupposed to help him. I felt it so strongly. Something saying, Joel, give him a gift. Now, I had goodintentions. God knew my heart, but I kept putting it all. The first week, I saw him at the gym, thought, oh, man, forgot my checkbook again. Next month, still hadn't done anything. Every time I saw him,I felt a gnawing feeling right down in here. One day, I simply did what I'm asking you to do.
05:52I left the gym, went home, got my checkbook, wrote him a gift, stuck it in his gym bag.Soon as I did that, I felt the heaviness release off of me.See, God doesn't reward good intentions. He rewards obedience. And so often, we think like I did,I'm planning on being a blessing.I'm planning on volunteering.
06:13I'm planning on eating healthier. We need to move from planning to doing.I was talking to a lady recently. There's this person at her work that's very controlling, very manipulating. This has been going on for years. She's allowed this to happen and's gotten worse and worse. She knows she needs to confront this lady. She needs to make a change, but she's more quiet and reserved.
06:37She doesn't like to deal with conflict. So she goes on year after year living in mediocrity. But when God asks you to do something, that seems hard. Number one, God will always give you the grace to do it. And number two,it's because he has something so much better in your future. But if you just keep putting it off, then you're putting off what God wants to release back to you. I know people that have beenplanning to make peace with the relative for 20 years. One day, I'm going to reconcile. One day,Joel, I'm going to swallow my pride and I'm going to apologize. They,
07:15don't know what they've missed the last 20 years, the joy, the peace, the opportunities thatGod didn't release back because they kept putting it all. I was reading about this 42-year-oldexecutive. He was on the cover of Newsweek magazine years ago. The headline read, the Wiz Kid ofWall Street. He had a brilliant mind. He'd helped start several major companies. The reporter thatwas doing the story went back to the town he had lived in.some years before and interviewedpeople that knew him. Hefound out there was an alcoholic
07:51that lived in the city parkwith this man's same name.Toward the end of the interview, he kind of laughedand said, I found out somethingyou may not know. There wasa homeless man that lived inyour city at the same time you did.He had your same name,
08:07your same age, your same race. What a coincidence. This executive said, that wasn'ta different man. That was me.I was an alcoholic. I was homeless, doing nothing with my life. The reporter's eyes got so big, said, tell me more. He said, when I was living in the city park, using newspapers to cover me up,I always knew one day I would be successful. I knew one day I would be sitting here, but I was justwaiting to get started. Many people are like him. They may not be homeless, may not have a big addiction,
08:45but they're waiting to get started. They have incredible gifts, talents, businesses, ideas, movies, books, inventions, but they keep putting off moving forward, thinking one day I'll take astep of faith. One day I'll be more disciplines. One day I'll get my life straightened out. One day I'llgo back to school. No, don't live waiting for one day. Start doing what you know to do today.Friends, life is short.Time is flying by.You can't afford to put off what God's put in your heart. You don't have time to live with things holding you back.
09:26You have seeds of greatness on the inside.Today can be your new beginning.Today can be the start of something amazing. If we're going to reach our highest potential,we have to be now people.Because there are some opportunities that God brings across our paththat have a limited window. They are not always going to be there.
09:49The prophet Joel said in the scriptureto wake up the mighty men, wake up the mighty women.I know I am looking at the mighty men,the mighty women right now of faith. You are history makers. You are world changers.God wants you to leave your mark on this generation.
10:09But there is an enemy of your soul, one of his main tools is procrastination. If he can't deceive you into getting totally off course,he'll use something much more subtle. He'll try to get you to put it off, to be passive,to have an I'll do it later attitude. No, the scripture says, today when you hear God's voice, do not turn away.
10:35When you hear God speaking to you, be a now person.Today I'm going to respond.Today I'm going to make sure.changes. Today I'm going to come up higher. Your act of obedience is what triggers God's supernaturalfavor. This is what happened to a young lady in the scripture named Esther. She was an orphan. She didn't necessarily feel qualified. But her cousin, Mordecai, said, Esther, you have come to thekingdom for such a time as this. He was saying, Esther, this is a window of opportunity to makeyou a mark on this generation. It wasn't something that she could decide to do five years from now
11:16after she got out of college, after she raised her children. This was a destiny moment. She was supposed to stand before the king and ask him to save the people of Israel.Mordecai said something interesting. Esther, if you don't do it, it will still happen.God's plan will come to pass, but you will miss your opportunity to be a part of it.See, when we put things off, we're not stopping God's plan. We're stopping the fullness of what God has in store for us.Esther stepped out in faith and helped save the people of Israel.Today, she's listed as one of the heroes of faith.
11:56Friends, it's not how talented you are, what family you come from, or how many people know your name. When you walk in God's ways, he will take you places that you've never dreamed of.God will help you to accomplish what you could not accomplish on.your own. I want to light a fire on the inside. Some of you are allowing something small to keep youfrom God's best. Unforgiveness is small. Fear is small. An addiction is small. Being undisciplined is small. You have the seed of Almighty God. The greatest force in the universe is breathing in your direction. There is no challenge too difficult for you. Don't miss your season.I think about Joshua and Caleb.
12:43When they came back from spying out the promised land, they said, Moses, we are well able to take the land.Let us go in at once.Notice not next week, not next year, they were now people. But if you overanalyze your situation, you think about all the what-ifs,you try to get approval from all your family and friends, you'll never move off a dead center.
13:07when God puts something in your heart, deep down you know it's a destiny moment. It's a window of opportunity. You don't need 10 confirmations, three angels to appear, lightning to strike next door. No, be like Joshua and Caleb.I'm going to go in it once.I'm not going to delay.I'm not going to make excuses.I'm not going to argue with God.
13:29I'm going to do what he's asking me to do.Romans 13 says, it is high time to wake up out of your sleep.for your salvation is closer than when you first believed. Some of you have let life pushed you down. You're not pursuing what God's put in your heart. You become passive. But God is saying it's high time to wake up.Notice the phrasing, not just time, but high time.
13:58That means it's incredibly important. You are coming in to a destiny moment. You are sitting on the launching pad.God is about to thrust you to a new level. What he has in your future is going to far supersede what he has in your past. Now is not the time to be passive, to be sloppy, to be undisciplined. Now more than ever is the time to get focused, take care of business, don't put things off.Why is this so important?
14:28Your salvation is near than it's ever been. That means you are closer to seeing that dream come to past than you've ever been.you are closer to meeting the right person than you've ever been. You're coming into the final stretch. That healing, that breakthrough, that promotion, that provision is already headed your way.You may not be able to see it.Don't worry about it.It can see you.
14:53Your victory is right around the corner. Now, it's our high time to do what God's asking us to do.We have to be in position to receive what God has in store. In the scripture, there was a lady that had been sick with a bleeding disorder for 12 years. She had been to the best doctors, received the finest treatment, but she continued to go downhill. But one day, she got word that Jesus was coming through her town. When she heard that, something came alive on the inside. In her spirit, she knew it was a destiny moment, a window of opportunity.
15:31Now, she could have talked herself out of it.I thought, man, I've been to the best doctors. It's going to be so crowded.I don't feel well.It would have been easy for her to dismiss it, to be passive. But she didn't do that. She knew it was her high time. She knew her healing was headed her way.
15:50Instead of putting it off.You know the story. She fought her way through the crowd.Touched the edge of Jesus robe. When she did, immediately she was made hall. But I thought about how,how many other people were there like her in that same type of situation. They were sick.
16:07They were discouraged. They had trouble, but they just watched Jesus pass by.They thought maybe next time somebody will help me.Maybe one day I'll have a chance.Maybe one time it won't be so crowded. No, making excuses keeps us from our miracle. The right attitude is, it's my high time.I'm close to my healing.
16:29I'm close to my breakthrough.I'm close to seeing my family restored. That's what it means to wake up out of your sleep. You know there are destiny moments in front of you. You're on the lookout. You're not going to miss your season. In the Old Testament,God spoke to the people about rebuilding the temple.
16:48It says in the book of Haggai, the people said that time has not yet cometo rebuild the Lord's house.even though Cyrus had ordered it 18 years earlier.Notice God had told them to rebuild it 18 years before, but they were still saying, it's not the right time.Let's do it later.I don't believe when they put it off the first time
17:14they ever planned on putting it off for 18 years. It just kept growing. The first year, let's don't do it now.I'm busy.Second year, it's not convenient.Let's do it some other time.18 years later, and they're still putting it off. What happens when we don't do what God's asking us to do?
17:33Verse 6 says, you have sown much but reaped little. You've earned your wages, but you're putting them in a bag with holes in it.Verse 7 says, consider your ways.Notice what happens when we put things off. It's like we're trying to fill up a bag that has holes in it.We can't seem to get ahead. There's always something holding us back. What do we need to do?
18:00Consider our ways.Let's make sure we're not doing like them, putting things off, thinking one day I'll pursue that dream. One day I'll forgive that person that hurt me.One day I'll get serious about my relationship with God.Your heart is right. You have good intentions. But if you're not careful, one day can turn into one year. One year can turn into a lifetime.
18:26What could be worse than to come to the end of our life and have all these regrets if I'd only forgiven, if I'd only been more disciplines, if I'd only taken that step of faith? Don't let that be you. You may have put things off a lot longer than you should have, but the good news is it's not too late to get started. You can still rebuild your temple, so to speak. You can still become everything God's created you to be. Don't make excuse.Don't wait for a more convenient time.It says in Ecclesiastes,if we wait for all the conditions to be just right,we'll never move off a dead center.Make a decision to just do it.Be a now person.Your destiny is calling out.
19:13My grandfather on my dad's sidewas a very good man, a hard worker. But granddaddy didn't have any kind of spiritual upbringing.None of his relatives knew anythingabout God. My fatherwas the first one in the familyat the age of 17 to come to know theLord. Granddaddy Osteen was a
19:33very quiet, reserved man.My father sharedhis faith with granddaddy manytimes, but he wouldn't hearit. He said, John, when I'mdead, I'm dead like a dog.Just roll me over in the ditch. My father would say, no, Daddy, you've got to
19:49live on somewhere after thestars fall like autumn leaves.Just went in one ear and out the other.didn't have any effect on him.Year after year went by.One Sunday, my father wasup in the pulpit at the churchhe pastored at that time.
20:05Granddaddy walked in the churchfor the first time and saton the back row. My fatherwas so thrilled. It was a dreamcome true. Rightin the middle of his message, granddaddy got up, walked down the aisleand stood at the altar, interrupted
20:21the whole service. He said,John, I'm finishing totoday what I started over 40 years ago. Daddy said, what do you mean? Granddaddy told how when he was inhis early 20s, he was out in the woods and a huge snowstorm unexpectedly came in, a blizzard. He got lost. He walked for hours and hours. Couldn't see anything. Temperature below zero.Night fell. Now he's out there in the dark all alone. He was sure that he was going tofreeze to death. His body was starting to shut down, got very sleepy. He was about to lay down in thesnow. Before he did, under his breath, he said, God, if you'll spare my life and help me to make it through
21:11this storm, then I'll serve you. Lay down in the snow, expecting that to be the end. The next morning,he woke up just as warm as toast. Somehow God had kept him alive. He said, John, I put this off40 years, but today I'm going to make good on the promise that I made God.My grandfather never missed another Sunday at that church. One day they asked him to become an usher. You would have thought they'd ask him to become the president of the United States. He was so proud, so excited.Granddaddy only owned one suit.
21:50When he died, that suit that he was buried in, in the pockets, there were churchbulletins and church offering envelopes and tracks from the church where he had served. How many of us, like my grandfather, have made a promise to God? God, if you'll help me throughthis tough time, then I'll serve you. God, if you'll give me this job, then I'll get back in church.God, if you'll heal my child, if you'll help me to pass this college course, God, if you'llshow me mercy. God did his part. My question is, have you done your part?Have you made good on the promise that you made God?If not, don't put it off any longer.
22:31It's not too late to forgive. It's not too late to get back in church. It's not too late to pursue a dream.God wouldn't have allowed you to hear this messageunless he had another window of opportunity in front of you. This is your high time. You are closer to your new beginning than you realize. That dream is within real.
22:54That promise is within reach. You may have put it off 18 years like the people in Hagia's day, even 40 years like mygrandfather. Good news is God is not mad at you. He's not holding that against you. If you will make goodon the promise that you've made God, then you will step into a life that's more rewarding, more fulfillingthan you ever even dreamed of. I read last week about this 104-year-old lady. I read, that just graduated from high school. They asked her why she went back to finish. She told how when she was 10 years old,she was taken out of school
23:34to help her parents on the farm make ends meet. She promised her mother that she would finish high school. She said, I didn't want to die without keeping my promise.Have you made a promise to God,a promise to your parents?Or maybe you promised yourself.I'm not going to live with this bitterness.I'm not going to go around with this anger.
23:57Make good on your promise.Maybe you promised yourself,I'm not going to get stuck at this job and settle herewhen I've got so much more in me.Keep your promise.Maybe you promised yourself,I'm not going to hang around these peoplethat are dragging me down my whole life.
24:15Has it been a year, five years, 20 years? What are you waiting for?You owe it to yourself. When the people of Israel were enslaved,Savory. God sent different plagues on their enemies to try to convince them to let them go.Pharaoh was very stubborn, very hard-headed, and he wouldn't do it.One of the plagues was the land was filled with millions of frogs.Everywhere they look, frogs in their home, frogs in their bed, frogs in their food.
24:44They couldn't walk without stepping on a frog. They got so miserable.Pharaoh finally called Moses back in.He said, Moses, hey, we've learned our lesson.please ask your God to take away these frogs.Moses said, I'll do it.Pharaoh, you set the time. When do you want it to happen?
25:04You would think he would say right now, immediately at this moment. No, Pharaoh said, take them away tomorrow. He was saying, we can put up with these frogs just one more night. How many times do we do the same thing?Joel, I'm going to forgive, but I'm going to do it tomorrow.I'm going to have a better attitude. I'm going to quit worrying. Tomorrow. We're saying like Pharaoh, I can put up with this addiction, with this worry, with this mediocrity, 24 more hours.
25:35Now, our attitude should be, I'm not going to spend one more night with the frogs putting up with things that are not God's best.Today, I'm going to get my life straightened out. Today I'm going to forgive. Today I'm going to stop worrying.Today I'm going to take a step of faith. Friends, your time is too valuable.Your destiny too great.Your future too bright. To waste a single moment. You've got to shake off being passive.Shake off being complacent.
26:02Rise up with this new boldness. My prayer is we're going to be like Joshua and Caleb. Not put it off people, but let us go in at once, people.Like the lady with the issue of blood, we're not going to miss our season. We're going to be people of action. Here's my assignment.Think of at least one area that you've been procrastinating in.your health, your finances,
26:25a relationship, not taking a step of faith, make a decision that you're going to start working on it today. You don't have time to wait another year to forgive,to get back in shape, to pursue a dream. This is your high time. You are close to seeing that promise come to pass.If you will be a now person and be quick to dowhat God's asking you to do,
26:49then I believe and declare healing is coming, promotion is coming, favor is coming, breakthroughs are coming, you're going to live the abundant lifethat God has in store. If you receive it, can you say amen this morning? We never like to close ourbroadcast without giving you an opportunity to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Would you pray with me?Just say, Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins. Come into my heart. I make you, my Lord and Savior.Friends, if you prayed that simple prayer, we believe you got born again.Get in a good Bible-based church.Keep God first place.
27:29He's going to take your places that you've never dreamed up.It's a new year.Time to see the impossible become possible. It's a new year.Life setbacks are about to become God's set-ups for new opportunity. It's a new year.Cherished dreams will become unexpected reality. The start of the new year is the perfect time to research.
