Robinson good morning! Hello! Lovely to have you on. It's so nice to be back. Now last time you were here I was very anxious that you were going back home to see your mum, you were going to Nelson and you were like, you hadn't even booked a flight and you wanted to get back by a certain time. I'm like this is not going to work. On the day, on the same day. This is not going to work out. That's right! But you did, you got home. I did get home but I also, in those situations I'll always be looking at the flights you know so I'm, I know that there's flights that exist there but you're right that was a that was a what would they say a rogue thing yeah right yeah
you know telling this to a guy who arrives at the airport three days before his flight leaves
i've got without a word of lie we turned up for a flight one time with our family and customs was
wasn't even open like i got there too early no but that's the thing sometimes i feel like when you
when you're like oh i'll be fine you get there and it's always an absolute mayhem.
Yeah.
I love the airport.
And also flying.
It's one time where you just detach from the world.
No one can contact you.
Now they have Wi-Fi.
Do you get Wi-Fi?
Well, yeah, I feel obligated to if there's an accident.
But anyway, this is not about Wi-Fi.
Do you do that seat chat function where you can chat to other seats?
He does it.
Well, no, because I've been.
It's weird if you don't know the person, right?
Yeah.
Hello, person at 57D.
I kept seat chatting Ben on a flight we were on.
And I was like, have you still got the drugs in the bag?
And I kept exiting out.
You're like, no.
I'm not taking part in this.
I know he's joking.
I know he's joking.
Like, land this plane right now.
He keeps saying all sorts of stuff.
Was this an international fight?
It was an international fight.
He was engaging in my seat chair.
You're like, stop exiting out of the seat chair.
He's had one too many beverages.
And I'm like, I'm not going to.
Anyway, Robinson's with us now.
Obviously, real name Anna, Anna Robinson.
But who calls you Anna?
Who calls you Robinson?
That's a good question.
Well, mum calls me Anna, of course.
I think most people call me Anna in the non-music scene.
And then I have a lot of friends that call me Robbo.
Oh, Robbo.
Robbo's a good nickname too.
Because Robinson sounds like you're at high school
and they're calling you by your surname.
Robinson.
Yeah, that does feel like that.
It feels very authoritative.
Now, we're going to be joining you on Friday.
You're performing at the FIFA Fan Zone at the Claude Lins Arena in Hamilton.
I know.
I'm very excited.
Yeah, it's pretty awesome coming along.
We get to introduce you on stage.
That's really nice.
How do you like to be introduced?
Robbo?
This is Robbo.
So just be like, just go with your heart.
Can I test a joke on you to see if we can say this?
No, but that's so stressful because then I have to laugh.
Then you have to laugh.
Just say, yeah, yeah.
Just give me a yes, you're in, or no, I'm exiting out of seat chat.
Okay, and know that if I don't laugh, it's not because you're joking.
No, it's just like, yeah, okay.
It's because I'm depressed to laugh, but it's not there.
Honest reaction.
Okay, so one of her biggest hits is Nothing to Regret,
123 million streams on Spotify.
That's a huge number.
Good stats.
Okay, yeah.
She must have written the song before she met us
because that's the one thing she now regrets.
That's really good.
Okay, good.
Yeah, that's good.
You have to come in with the Nothing to Regret.
Yeah, yeah.
I probably should have.
But anyway.
No, I feel like that's great.
You're going to win some people with that one.
Will you do Ben a favor for his joke?
Will you open up with Nothing to Regret
so it all just sort of settles in?
Ties in.
Yeah.
Yeah, okay.
We'll start and close with it.
It'll be like a full cycle.
It's pretty incredible, though, that song in particular.
I know.
Just massive.
That's a huge amount of people.
It is a lot of people.
I feel like it shows the spontaneous nature of music.
So you've got a new single coming out shortly, Nirvana.
How do you feel when you have a new single because obviously do you try and compare it to other
songs or do you go oh hey i've already cracked it with one whatever happens now i'm just chilling
i feel like my perspective on everything now is just it's just so much fun to write music and
that's what i enjoy the most and if a moment happens where something happens great but you
can't control it and that's okay I love it yeah that's great this is what we do with radio we're
like hey we just say some stuff if something works then hey great yeah more often than not it doesn't
work yeah just keep just saying stuff can I talk about Oblivion because I know it's very personal
to you yeah but to look at your dad who sadly passed away when you were young but the video
is amazing really thank you like footage that he filmed it is he it was so funny he like because i was actually one
of those funny moments where i have these memories remembering that memory but then watching the
footage and being like whoa that's the footage that he was filming when i was a kid which is
so wild but then he also like went on so many he was such a like adventurous warm like charismatic
soul and he would just go around and like loved filming things like i don so many, he was such a like adventurous, warm, like charismatic soul.
And he would just go around and like loved filming things.
Like, I don't even know, he jumped out of a plane, but yeah, he was like looking through this.
Did he film himself?
Yeah.
And you just hear him going.
So to find out, to go through that footage must've been just a really like an emotional experience, but also just an amazing experience too at the same time yeah i i think i'm so like grateful
to the modern world in that sense of being able to have that footage because i feel like it connects
you to a part of your past that you know if you didn't have it i'd be like i wonder what he
sounded like or i want like you know because you i was 11 when he passed so it's really easy to kind
of forget so many things about a person but but you know, obviously you remember so much,
but then like the sound of our voice or like how they carried themselves or
like the things that they like to do or the things they like to talk.
And he like loved,
he would have,
he could have been a radio person.
He loved just a little chit chat,
you know,
I don't wish anything upon my kids to look through my,
my photo stream when I'm gone.
Something inspiring.
Yeah.
Especially old John on Ben skits and stuff. They'll be like, Oh God, this is terrible. my photo stream when I'm gone no leave something inspiring yeah especially old
Jono and Ben skits
and stuff
they'll be like
oh god
this is fable
they won't be
they won't be
montaging that up
into an emotional video
mate
well it's lovely
to see you again
it'll be great
to see you Friday night
and Hamilton

back to the UK
afterwards

in Europe
and the UK
at the moment
I'm really good
with heat
love the heat
was so excited
about summer
for like many months before summer happened and then it got to summer and the uk at the moment i'm really good with hate love the hate was so excited about summer for like many months before summer happened and then it got to summer and the
allergies in london at the moment are like so bad for people that suffer hay fever
oh hay fever yeah jack up on the antihistamines i was literally i had to make a big upgrade because
i was on the the you know this the lower dosage ones and now I'm on like 24 tablets in one.
That's a lot of tablets in one.
Scientifically what it's called.
That's a lot of tablets in one.
Yeah, 24.
I don't know if that's how,
maybe it was 24 times as strong,
but I've just taken it as like 24 tablets in one.
Jacked up on 80 plus antihistamine tablets.
Robinson, lovely to catch up with you again.
See you on Friday.
