Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, KFC Radio listeners, you can find every episode of KFC Radio on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. It's Watchlist Wednesday on a KFC Radio quickie. Every Wednesday we're going to be breaking down some TV talk for you, some entertainment talk. And we'll give you some recommendations on what's good, what's not. And break down all things Barstool DVR style. So, me and Fights have been watching a little show called Succession. I haven't been watching it.
Starting point is 00:00:31 I watched it all last night. Well, not all. I have two episodes left. I picked it up about a couple weeks ago. It's in its first season, I believe, on episode eight, maybe nine coming up this week. And it was weird. I think nine was it.
Starting point is 00:00:44 I think this week's the season finale. Unless they're doing 10. Probably. It's a weird thing. It's an HBO show. And, I mean, it's definitely gaining steam. And, I mean, obviously you're 9, 10 weeks in. But it wasn't like a big deal.
Starting point is 00:00:59 There was absolutely no promo for it. There was no marketing. There was no promo. I hadn't heard of it until you told me of it last week. And maybe it's because usually I'm watching a sunday night show i'm watching game of thrones and so i see the heavy promo for whatever's going to come on when that season of whatever show ends and i just haven't been doing that i wasn't in on west world i just have not been uh sharp objects was not doing it for me i just haven't been watching hbo so maybe i haven't seen the promo
Starting point is 00:01:24 but this just kind of flew under the radar and i feel like for me. I just haven't been watching HBO, so maybe I haven't seen the promo, but this just kind of flew under the radar, and I feel like it's creeping up on me. There definitely haven't been bus ads or subway ads. Yeah, I mean, usually it's like you can't turn a corner without seeing what the Sunday night 9 p.m. HBO show is going to be. It sounds like an archaic thing, but it still does matter.
Starting point is 00:01:40 It really works. Or at least you... It's good for us where I know, okay, they're going all out with like blitzing the marketing. And so people, they're not going to let people not know about this show. Succession was not like that. And you look at, I mean, it's got Brian Cox, who's a very well-known actor. And it's got some, you know know kind of familiar faces oh that's familiar i don't know what he's from but he's kieran kieran culkin is macaulay's brother you remember him as
Starting point is 00:02:10 faller what's his what's his movie with amanda p igby goes down i love it goes down i've never even heard oh my god it's so awesome he's a great great actor he goes down it's great i think bill pullman's his dad in that he's like a very pilled out, crazy guy, but he's very wealthy. He seems to have found a niche in that role. Yeah. And Igby runs away and lives with Amanda Peete, this artist. It's such a great movie. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:35 It's a really, really good movie. This is a show I just feel like it's about to kind of pop into the mainstream. If you're one of these people who have been watching it since day one, congratulations. But I feel like the average guy is just kind of like, oh, yeah, I've heard of it. Let me give it a shot. And then just today, like I said,
Starting point is 00:02:53 I had been watching it for about a week. John comes in and says, I binged it. And all of a sudden, Hank chimes on like, yo, Succession is dope. And Francis overhears what we're talking about. And he was like, that show is phenomenal. So I think people are finally catching on. And it is a show unlike any other show i've ever watched because i find every character to be offensively annoying and unlikable see i don't totally disagree with i don't totally agree with you on that i don't who do you like on that show i like kieran culkin
Starting point is 00:03:22 i like rom but you you understand that he's like a greasy, slimy piece of shit. Not really. Yes, really. No. He jerks off on his fucking window because he's power hungry and thinks he's now the man. Yeah, but that's one little instance. I mean, that pretty much defines him as a person. No, I think he's...
Starting point is 00:03:40 He's like a weasel who's afraid to stand up to his dad, who's not going to stick with his brother. But who isn't afraid to stand up to his dad? Who's backstabbing his siblings, who is jerking off on windows, who is a controlling boyfriend. There's nothing good about that guy. I like the line. It makes sense that you like him. He's a terrible piece of shit. I relate to him.
Starting point is 00:04:03 I get it. There was the line where he's like, just because I like a joke doesn't mean I'm a clown. I was like, I get you, Romulus. I get you, man. No, listen, I can understand why you identify with him. It does not mean that he's a likable guy. Yeah, well, I mean, I'm not likable. I don't think of him like me.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Here, don't fucking tell me twice, bro. So the show, we'll quickly break it down brian cox is the owner of like a billion dollar company and media company media buying a barstool type company right this is very is hitting close to home he and he is supposed to be passing it down to his eldest son and shit who's awesome by the Yeah, he's really good. He's such a good actor. Yeah, like, don't get me, don't get it wrong. Like, when I say, like, unlikable or, like, annoying characters, I mean it in a, in, like, the most respectful way. Like, it's not like Becca Moody from Californication or, what's her name from Homeland?
Starting point is 00:05:00 Dana. Where it's like, every time you're on the screen, I want to turn the TV off. These are all very captivating, like, intriguing characters. The storyline is awesome. homeland dana where it's like every time you're on the screen i want to turn the tv off these are all very captivating like intriguing characters the storyline is awesome it's just that i find myself being like fuck everybody here it's one of these situations where you know do you want this guy to win do you want this guy to run the company should she take over i hope he gets one over on this guy and i'm not rooting for anyone see i, you're not rooting for Kendall? I want the building collapsed. You're not rooting for Kendall? I mean, I guess, yes, I am rooting for him
Starting point is 00:05:27 in the sense of like, if you've got a big size. He's got his end through rehab. I think he's... You're just like, come on, dude, grow some stones one time for me. Yeah, but that's the thing
Starting point is 00:05:36 is that I'm like, you know, you don't have any stones and the way he tries to like be cool when he like starts out a meeting, he's like, yo, what's up? It's like, oh, I hate you. Yeah. But I am definitely rooting for him over his father. He's wrapped with Beastie Boys in the back's like yo what's up it's like oh i hate you yeah but i am definitely rooting for him over his father boys in the back of the car yeah it's all very try he's a very big try hard um but it it's a cool look and i don't know how real or how
Starting point is 00:05:55 exaggerated this is you know in in a big time power family like this but it it's it's yeah i mean it's very entertaining so i feel like this is about to be your HBO show that people are. It's going to be the. Are you watching? Did you see it? Did you? Are you? But I mean, that won't be till season two because there's only one episode left.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Right. So binge it now. Get into it. And you can be, you know, in the know at your next cocktail party or happy hour or wherever it may be. It's also got. It's got as. What's the brother's name? Yemen or something along those lines?
Starting point is 00:06:28 Brian Cox's brother. The older guy. The guy who's the father. Oh, yeah. The dude from Babe. From, what is he from? From Babe. That'll do, pig.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Yeah, yeah. Again, there's a lot of those guys in it that are like, yeah, that dude. Yeah. I forget his name. It's like Yeoman. It's something very weird. Either way, there's a lot of those guys in it that are like, yeah, that dude. I forget his name. It's like Yeoman. It's something very weird. Either way, it's like an ensemble cast, really, where you're seeing some shit.
Starting point is 00:06:50 So get in on that. I also have been, I finally watched a little show. You may have heard of it, Handmaid's Tale. The show that won all the Emmys? Yeah. And I still tweeted not watching it. Yeah, well, we are on the same page as to why it took so long. Elizabeth Moss.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Just the worst face. Her face is terrible. Worst face in the league. It's so bad. Not even, not even like ugly or anything like that. It's just...
Starting point is 00:07:14 Your face. It's a very... There's something with it and I want to punch it. A very unenjoyable face. I do not enjoy her face at all. It's like, it's,
Starting point is 00:07:22 I don't know what it is. She always smelled a fart. Yeah. She doesn't look about it. is. She always smelled a fart. Yeah. She doesn't look about it. She always just smelled a fart. And she has the gap teeth, which annoy me. Come on, you're rich. Get Invisalign.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Her nose is not great. Her eye is not great. Her teeth are all those together. What we would call a face, not great. No. It's just something very, you know what it is? Harsh. It's very harsh.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I look at her face. I go, I'm like sorry did i do something but it's got it looks like you always got her upset out who yvonne strahovski yes uh was she from burn burn notice or something no one of those love chuck love chuck well i knew it was one of those like usa type shows now chuck was network tv was it yeah well you know what i think i think i think it got rerun because it got syndicated it did like i think five six seasons something like that she's dope she's a rocket ship that show i don't know why nobody said this to me because i would have been in on it from the jump it's it absolutely fills the leftovers void in this weird fucked up dark
Starting point is 00:08:20 future type of future but not like too far in the future type of society where, where everything is flipped on its head and they create this own, you know, this, this, this very bleak world where, um, I,
Starting point is 00:08:35 I like shows that kind of recreate like an entire world. You know what I mean? It's like they reimagine a whole new society. Cause you're a nerd. Huh? Cause you're a nerd. Big time nerd. Uh,
Starting point is 00:08:44 I like to say, uh, I have a brain, I'm intellectual, I'm nerd. Huh? Because you're a nerd. Big time nerd. I like to say I have a brain. I'm intellectual. I'm intelligent. And I like my TV programming to reflect that. So if you want, you can go watch. You can just break that down into a nerd. It's only one syllable. You can go watch Suits for the four billionth time.
Starting point is 00:08:57 Oh, I stopped Suits long ago. Come on. Shooter, on the other hand. Now, let me tell you about a little program called Shooter. Well, here's the deal. here's the thing with shooter you're fucking an hour ago you're pitching me hard on 24 shooters very comfortable with 24 is it yeah well that's interesting because you've never seen 24 yeah but i know what you're gonna do that for me i know it's an hour of television where they're trying to save the world and at the end of every episode they're like oh fuck something else went wrong and then the next episode they have to go fix that this is ryan felipe yeah
Starting point is 00:09:28 ryan felipe who's just just a little weapon yeah he's a sexy little man his wife weapon who's that it's got uh i forget her name she's like not a big actress but she's gorgeous and then it's got omar epps from house heard him and it's the first two seasons are on netflix which are awesome and season two i was kind of on of eh on because it didn't end well because Ryan Felipe horribly broke his leg, so they just had to stop filming. Oh, in real life. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:52 And so season three, they kind of pick up where season two never had a conclusion. And season three is back. See, that's funny. That's where you know a show is really just kind of like going for entertainment value. And we're just here to like shoot things and have hot girls and like, you know, a little bit of a plot line and take it seriously. But we're also able to just keep it moving if there's just no conclusion to a season.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Yeah. It's like, don't worry. Well, it was like it was kind of a conclusion. Like he gets kidnapped. But like other shows where if you had to radically change because someone couldn't walk anymore, it would be like, oh, how are we going to do this shooter? I imagine they didn't really miss a beat. It was like it was like episode eight. So it's like a weird episode to end on.
Starting point is 00:10:31 But as episode eight, he gets kidnapped. And so like that's actually not a bad way to end it. Yeah, that's fine. I've heard I've seen a cliffhanger like that before. Yeah. So it worked out. But it was it was it was it worked out, but it was... Roll with the punches. It was... It's very, very, very entertaining.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Maybe this is what we'll do. I like it better than the movie. Maybe on Watchlist we'll try to give you a KFC nerd pick and a Feidelberg dumb person pick. Okay. We'll see how long we can stick to that. Because I usually tend to try to... I end up watching the dumb shows too.
Starting point is 00:11:04 But Handmaid's Tale is like... I get why it won all the awards and shit. And I understand why everyone is all about... But it's one of those shows that's made to win awards, right? I don't like shows like that. Nah, well, I mean... I don't know. What does that mean? Like they're just trying to say,
Starting point is 00:11:19 look how intellectual I am. Look at this world I can create. It's like a dick, bro. Where's Felipe at? I need a sexy male lead. I'll go watch the ugly women. You can watch the sexy men. I'm trying to remember so far.
Starting point is 00:11:36 I'm about eight or nine episodes into season one. There's now two seasons of Pan Made a Tale. I don't think there's ever been a scene without Elizabeth Lawson in it. I think she's in every single scene. She is carrying the team. I can already tell John is just going to fight tooth and nail on this one, so I don't care, bro. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Go miss a great show. I don't give a fuck what you watch. I don't give a fuck what you do and don't watch, idiot. What's the office? There's a lot of weird, weird sex in it. Are you peeking my interest? Not like hot sex. I'm like, this is weird. Yeah, in it. Are you picking my interest? Not like hot sex. I'm like, this is weird.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Yeah, no. You're picking my interest. I said what I said. Yeah, so the idea is that only certain women can get pregnant. That's who the handmaids are. So they lay in between the legs of the wife, and the wife holds down their hands while the husband fucks the handmaid. And no one looks at each other.
Starting point is 00:12:25 And it's also supposed to be transactional. I've seen porn like that plenty of times. Yeah, a little something called cuck porn. I've been dabbling in weird situations like that. So if you're into the leftovers, and I'm sure there's a million people out there who are like, oh, Handmaid's Tale, breaking news. But it is harsh face combined with like,
Starting point is 00:12:46 what hand, it's like, is this in the past or in the future because everyone's dressed weird it's like 2015 right yeah it's like the future but like not so much in the future but everyone's dressed in a way that it's like you huh 2015 is when this like plague hits and so it's like pretty much present day but everyone's dressed like old school cool like puritansitans. So I'm like, what's going on here? So a lot of it, there's a lot of like barriers of entry for me where I was like, yeah, Hulu.
Starting point is 00:13:09 I don't know. Ugly face. Don't like it. We in the future. We in the past. It sounds hard to watch, but now that I'm in on it, if you are one of those people out there who,
Starting point is 00:13:18 who was hesitating, uh, I would say give it a whirl cause it's dark and fucked up and it will make you, you know what? It's one of those shows. I have to watch something like happy at the end of the night. Cause I can't like go to bed on that because it's dark and fucked up and it will make you. You know what? It's one of those shows. I have to watch something like happy at the end of the night because I can't like go to bed on that or I'll have some fucked up dreams. I do have a criminal mind.
Starting point is 00:13:32 You are such a simple. You talk about you like these are like very successful shows. Yeah. Well, so is the Big Bang Theory, bro. Gotcha there. Fucked him in his face on that one. Yeah. I've been watching before I go to bed. I've been watching the stand-up of that chick, Eliza Ferslinger.
Starting point is 00:13:48 I don't know how to say her last name. But I think she might be the funniest female comedian I've ever watched. Really? Yeah. I told you this. Fights is not in on her. I am heavy in on her. Well, because the promo they use for Netflix for her, it's literally Sweet D's stand-up.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Yeah. It's Sweet D, the joke's on me. It's that stand-up yeah it's sweet d the jokes on me that it's that stand up yeah but the noises and the body motions and like talking about how she's a kind of dirty vagina and like no she doesn't really do that like she she even has a bit where she's like uh if all you're doing is talking you got like fucking and being dirty like that's like transparent and see through she uh it seems like the girls who are watching that are like – Really fired a shot across Schumer's bow on that one, huh?
Starting point is 00:14:27 What? Really fired a shot across Schumer's bow on that one. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Like ricochet shot, direct shot, whatever you want to call it, right to Schumer. I remember I was out on Schumer. Schumer said one time that she – I was like – I think my girlfriend was watching Amy Schumer stand up and laughing.
Starting point is 00:14:42 And I was like, this isn't gonna last and uh and i saw a line where she said that she was sometimes when she takes her panties off it looks like she blew her nose in them and i was like and she then she talks about leaving how a snail leaves a trail that that's yeah that's like you're doing this for effect you're doing this because you want to do this uh no eliza eliza's much more jokes i don't like either but like that are like gross like like i don't like poop jokes right but that's just a little yeah that was it's it's too much um eliza it seems to be has like nailed things from a female perspective like every girl on twitter is like yeah it's clean yeah it's like so spot on um so she does like the the slice of life dating
Starting point is 00:15:26 material uh millennial type of shit like really well i like all like the voices and shit she does because i think it's like um she does it well like i it's a hard thing to do that physical comedy and i think she like does it well so um i'm in on that. Her latest one is a front page of Netflix, Elder Millennial. But I went back and watched her other ones too. I think I'm in on them. So give that a watch. You need a break from this post-apocalyptic
Starting point is 00:15:56 fucking fertility problem, Handmaid's Tale type world. So long story short, Succession, Shooter, Handmaid's Tale, Eliza. That's your watch list for Wednesday. We'll see you guys tomorrow for a full length episode of KFC Radio. With Mike Studd.
