Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a dear media production. This is Let's Be Honest with Kristen Cavalry, a podcast all about getting real and open on everything from sex, relationships, reality TV, wellness, family, and so much more. And just a fair warning, there will probably be some oversharing. It's so good to you. Yes. On the podcast. I was trying to think like the last time we saw each other.
Starting point is 00:00:30 Okay, tell me. Do you remember? I think I might know. But yes. It was 2010 or nine. It had, I think it was probably nine. Oh, maybe, okay. You were licking Mike's abs.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Yep, yep, yes. And I was like, oh, it's Kristen. By the way, those pictures are all over the internet. All over the internet. Me licking the situation's abs. Yeah, you were so excited. So excited. You're like, show me the situation.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Oh my God. We had so much fun that night. No, we did. What were you guys in town for? It was like our first press tour. That's right. We were supposed to be there for only like two days. And we ended up staying for,
Starting point is 00:01:02 like a week because everyone was booking us. Yeah, because you guys were the hottest thing. Yeah, we were like, oh my God. You made it. I will never forget when you guys aired because the Hills was on. And I remember being like kind of nervous that you guys were going to take over the Hills and you a thousand percent like you guys came on TV and was like the Hills what? No one gave a shit anymore. Stop. No. You guys were the only thing that anyone could talk about, myself included. I was obsessed. Well, we were the fan of the Hills. Well, and you just had the hills back with Laguna Beach. Oh, Laguna Beach. Yeah. I did a Laguna Beach. Reunion. which was very fun. Yeah. Yeah. I still have to watch it. I'm excited. I mean, I've been traveling.
Starting point is 00:01:37 No, I get, you're busy. You're a mom. You got a lot going on. We were just talking. Like, you're busy. I'm busy. Okay, but I want to go back to the beginning of the Jersey Shore. Yeah. And obviously, since we've seen each other since 2009 or whatever that was, so much has changed for you. You're a mom. You're a businesswoman. You're still on TV. But I want to go back to the beginning. How did you even get on the Jersey Shore? I don't know how they found all of you guys. So I always wanted to do reality. And I kept like submitting my video. in for like real world. I was like, I just want to be a reality star. I want to try it out. But like, do like a season and then go back to my life. Right. You know, be a vet tech, which I was planning
Starting point is 00:02:10 on doing and, you know, saving animals. And that's it. So then I went on Facebook or maybe MySpace. And it was probably MySpace at the time. It's probably MySpace. Yeah. And they were like calling all Guidos and Guides. Come down the shore for the summer for a reality show. And I'm like, this is it. And I was like manifesting like, I need a show that like talks to me. And that was a show. So I went to like this random bar in jersey and like I had basically this outfit on fur coat, basically what I walked in. And yeah, and they put me in the dungeon. It was like a basement dungeon.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Oh, by yourself? Yeah, to like film like my casting tape. And I'm like, what is this for? Like it felt very porny. I love that you had no idea what it was for and you just showed up because you just wanted to be on TV. I felt like it was like a porn shoot. And I'm like, what do I have to do here?
Starting point is 00:02:57 I'll do anything. No, but yeah, they were like, just talk about yourself and like what you love to do. Why do you love the shore? And then ever since then, it was just like, boom. So they still in that interview never told you what it was for? No. We didn't even know the name of the show until it actually aired. We thought it was going to be like Guido Beach.
Starting point is 00:03:12 I remember hearing that. Yeah. We didn't know what it was going to be called. So when did you find out that you got it? And what did they tell you it was? So I feel like they picked like 20 kids and they put us all in like a, like a Hilton hotel. And they took our phones. We had nothing.
Starting point is 00:03:30 And we were just stuck in the room for like, two days. But obviously they were feeding us and like whatever you need. But like we didn't know what was going on. So we didn't know if we were actually going to be on the show or they were just going to say, hey, pack your bags. Like we didn't pick you. And you still at this point don't know what the show is. No. Oh my God. Like I had an idea like, you know, we're going to live in a shore house. We're going to drink, have fun. But we didn't know the name of the show. Okay, but you knew the concept. We were going to go to the shore house. And we were going to have the best summer ever. I mean, yeah. Yeah. What a fun gig. Yeah. Okay. So then they come in and they say, okay, guess what?
Starting point is 00:04:00 you're moving into the house. Yeah. They're basically like, all right, get your stuff together. You're gonna, you're gonna head to the house. And then that's when you met everybody. Yeah. Yeah, I made it. Yeah, I made it. And it was the, it was all the original crew from the jump, right? Yes. And what did you think of everybody when you first got in the house? So walking to the house, I really thought I was going to see, like, real guitos. I would say like, Paulie and Ron were like, yes, makes sense. I see Vinny and I'm like, what? Like, who are you? You don't, you don't fit the mold of what I thought the show is going to be. But Jenny, I was like, yes. You know, Long Island girl, big boobies, attitude, like the blonde extensions that she like taped in her hair.
Starting point is 00:04:42 I was like, yes, queen. Sammy, yes. So everybody I was like, okay. But then Vinnie was like. The one guy. You in the wrong house? Poor Vinny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Are you still close with everybody? I am, yeah. Is there anyone that you had fights with off camera that never made it that you're maybe not as close as everyone thinks you are? No. No. So everything that we saw on the show was real. Yes. Unfortunately. So because you guys had cameras on you 24-7, right? 24-7. Yeah. And we were living in the house. Yeah. Living in a house for like a month and a half street, which usually was how long, you know, the taping was. And yeah, you go into a room and there's cameras, there's help clothes everywhere. Bathroom too. No. So bathroom was free. But if there's two people in a bathroom, they said two's a party. So then the cameras can come in.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Like if I'm showering, if I'm showering, and Dina comes into your makeup, the camera's allowed to come in. They never did. We always had our privacy. Yeah, but that was the rule. Who's a party? Crazy. So they never once told you like, hey, we need you to have this conversation or like, hey, can you go over here and do that? It was all pretty real.
Starting point is 00:05:49 No, I mean, I feel like they maybe insinuated some stuff, like off camera. Like, this is what's going on just to let you know. Planting little seeds. Yeah, planning seats. To get you guys kind of ride with that. Especially in interview. And then we'd be like, wait, she said that. Oh.
Starting point is 00:06:03 So interview was really where it was like, wait, what did she say? So then you get at an interview and you're like, hello? And was it all real? Like they actually said that stuff or were the producers really just trying to probe you? Or a combination of the two? Both. So sometimes they really were just trying to get a reaction out of you. Yeah, I mean, they're producers.
Starting point is 00:06:21 I know, but God, it's like, and obviously it all happened to me too, but it's so shady. I mean, that's their job, though. I know it is. It's reality. And so what about the editing? Did you feel like the editing was kind of where they could manipulate story? Or that was pretty real too. You guys were kind of maybe just giving them enough that they didn't really need to mess with it. No, yeah. No, yeah. It was all how it was. Right. Because you guys were just living your lives going out and having a good time. And I wish they edited it better, like my crazy moments of that's what made it made it. I know. What do you regret from it? Everything. No, come on. No, I always say like everything that happened on the show made me who I am today. And I'm like so proud of, you know, the mom. that I became and, you know, the grown up and being responsible. But yeah, I was, I was just living my life.
Starting point is 00:07:03 You were young. Young, living my life, enjoying the moment and, you know, the process and what I was going through and it is what it is. Exactly. Is there like one moment from the show that you're like, oh, God, I never want my kids to see that or. Everything. Really?
Starting point is 00:07:19 Yeah. You were so cute. No, but like the getting arrested on the beach. I do remember that one. A boob flopping out. Like doing a car. wheel in the club. But that's funny. Yeah, but my kids to be like mom. For your kids, for your kids, maybe not so funny. Yeah. So. Have your kids not seen it? No, they've seen clips. Because they're
Starting point is 00:07:37 on TikTok all the time. My oldest is 14. Right. Got to be 14. My middle, Giovanna, she's going to be 12. My youngest is six. So he's still a baby. He doesn't know what's going on. No, yeah. It's just like. Yeah. You can't shield them from it. Yeah. And the kids, his friends and everybody know who I am. So like high school, they're like, oh my God, your Snooky son. Oh. Yeah, it's like a good thing. So how are the other parents at school with you? They're nice. Yeah. So luckily, my husband Gianni, he grew up in the town.
Starting point is 00:08:04 So, like, everybody knows his family and it's like a small town. So they all know each other. So it's like he already knew everybody. Great. So it's not just like me coming in to a random town because they already know my husband. So you feel like you can just be normal, just another mom at school. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:18 I love that. I know. It's such a true. What about you? Same thing. I mean, I live in, it's a really small little town. And there's a real sense of community. And so everyone just kind of bands together and is no one treats me differently, which I love.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Oh, good. No one gives a shit about me out where I am. Like, I'm Franklin. Because you have a store in Nashville. You're probably familiar with Franklin and everything, right? Or not really. No. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Yeah. Wait, what did you say? I just know Nashville. Oh, okay. I thought you said, I don't have a store in Nashville. I was like, what? No, I just know Nashville. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Which I love. You got to get out to Franklin. Next time you're there you got to call me and you come out where I'm like 45 minutes south of the city. Okay. But like, it's a really small. little country town and I just, I love it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:58 So people treat me the way they would anyone else, which I love that. What about when you go to Disney or Orlando and you go to these cheer competitions? Oh, pictures everywhere. Yeah. But like I have a big group of like cheer moms. Yeah. Or like not now. Her daughter's about to take the mat.
Starting point is 00:09:13 Oh, sweet. So like my cheer mom friends can like kind of help me out there. Yeah, because in some moments like I don't mind taking pictures. I'm like, good luck. Nice to meet you. But like when my daughter's about to compete and then when she's off the Matt and I'm waiting for her and people are asking for like not the right time. Yeah. Not the right time. Yeah. Because I'm like a minute. You're being mom. I'm being a mom. Your mom. What does your daughter
Starting point is 00:09:34 think of all that? Does she get annoyed of the attention? She hates it. She does. Yeah. And I feel bad, but like. Well, what are you supposed to do? Yeah. And this is why you have the life that you have, the house that you have, the things I buy you. Exactly. Being able to afford cheer because it's not cheap. Like. Exactly. Yeah. I know. So sorry, honey. So I know. My kids are so good at like pointing out people taking photos and they'll like look at them. I'm like, I see you. I know. Jivana does that and she goes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:00 I'm like, Jivana. I know, like stop. You can't do that. Yeah. It's like you look like a brat. Cut it out. Okay, wait.
Starting point is 00:10:05 So Jersey Shore family vacation. The new season is airing May 7th. Yes. This is the eighth season. Is that right? Is it? Eight, nine. I don't even know where we are anymore.
Starting point is 00:10:17 She's done her research. Well, you've been on TV a long-ass time. I know. But the fact that it's eight seasons is incredible. So it's more seasons of family vacation than we did the original Jersey Shore. I was going to say, I thought so. How many seasons of the original did you guys do? Six. I mean, that's also incredible, though. Yeah. So which one of you enjoyed doing more? I like both for different reasons. Why? What are the reasons? I don't know. Like I grew up and I had a great time and made so many memories and made my life what it is because of Jersey Shore.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Met my husband, had kids. And now this one is more of just like us being adults and being parents. And I feel like, All the fans, you know, grew up with us, like, you know, getting married and having kids. We're all growing up together. Yeah. So obviously, I prefer this one because, you know, we're being parents and kids responsible, but also, like, we have our good times. I mean, enjoy yourselves. Are all of the kids on it?
Starting point is 00:11:09 Yes. What was that like? Do your kids enjoy filming? So only my daughter comes. Okay. And she only likes it if Malani's there and Malani is Jenny's daughter. But, like, if I'm filming at the house and we're, like, doing, you know, pickups and we're doing all these scenes. and I have to have my kids in it, they won't do it.
Starting point is 00:11:26 So I'm not going to force my kids not to do it. So my oldest is like, no, mom, I don't like be on camera. I'm like, fine. Yeah. I'm just going to knock on your door and pretend I'm talking to you. And then Giovanna's like washing with it. And then my youngest, he doesn't know. So he loves it and he's, you know, taking the camera and having a good time with it.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Cute. That's fun. Like I'm not going to force my kids to be on camera if they don't want to. I think that's so important because I think that's when boundaries. Yeah. It's important to respect kids in that regard. Yeah. I even like, I didn't even show. my kids on social media until recently because I wanted them to decide if they want their lives exposed
Starting point is 00:11:57 or not. I remember that. You never showed their face. No, until I thought it's very smart. Thanks. Well, until I thought they were old enough to decide and now they all want to be on social media. Yeah, cool. And I'll show you now, but I just wanted them to be able to make to make that decision. I love that. Yeah. It's been great. So it's the eighth and final season, right? Yes. Why is it because you guys are done with it? No. So I feel like MTV is obviously making a change. Yeah. You know, a lot of networks are doing different changes and everything. So, well, MTV is gone.
Starting point is 00:12:27 She's gone. Yeah, basically. She's going under. It's the end of an era. It's so sad. It's so sad, but it's like better sweet because it's like we've been there for, I don't know, like 15, 16 years now.
Starting point is 00:12:38 So, so blessed to have the opportunity and be with MTV for so long. But it's also like, okay, like excited for the next chapter. Like, where are we going to go? What are we going to do? What's the show going to be about? We're definitely not done filming. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Because we always said we want to film until, we're in a nursing home, like it depends and, you know, being old ladies. That would be a hit show, I feel like. Exactly, yeah. So we're just trying to figure out the next step. But yeah. You never get sick of it. I mean, yeah, but we, we have nice breaks.
Starting point is 00:13:06 So usually we'll film and we'll do like two months straight. And then we won't film for another like six months. Oh, that's actually so nice. Yeah. So we literally just bang it out and then we'll have like half the year to ourselves. Yeah. And then we'll do it again. And Sally Ann is one of your producers, right?
Starting point is 00:13:20 Yes. Oh my God. I love Sally Ann. I worked on a show with her. She is a hoot. It's so great. Is there anything that she's asked you to do that you've been like, I don't know if I want to do that?
Starting point is 00:13:30 No. So this show is still very real. Yes. I mean, obviously we have like meetings on what we're going to show. So now we don't film 24-7. So it's not like we're just in a house and, you know, we can just like go with that. So now we have meetings of like, okay, what are you doing in your life? Like what can we capture?
Starting point is 00:13:48 What's going on? So I wouldn't say it's like set up and fake, but it's more. planned. Yeah. Like what do you have going on? What can we film? What can we capture? And like recreating maybe a sentence or two, right? To just try to like get that story or no. Do you feel like you guys? No, it's more of just like an idea like, hey, this is what we're getting in the scene. Do as you make it and just have fun. They never step in and tell you guys what to say. No. Wow. What is that like? That's so nice. I mean, I don't even know what that's like. I would hate that. Yeah. No, because then it to me, it's just not real. Like now, I feel like I'm doing improv or something.
Starting point is 00:14:25 No, you're an actor. Yeah, thank you. You're basically an actor. I'm an actress. You are. Thank you so much, Snooky. You are. It was true. You're a great actress because I never know. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. It's like for me hearing that, I think would be so nice to just be able to go into scene and just actually be yourself and just carry on. Yeah. Instead of having to stop constantly and. No, I would hate that. No, I know because then it just becomes exhausting. Awful. Yeah. Okay. Let's see. Hold on. Now I got all sidetrack too. It was my burp. I know your burp really threw me off. Very gassy today. You guys know I love electrolytes and I swear they've made a huge difference in my energy.
Starting point is 00:15:05 And I notice it just in my hair and my skin and my nails, all the important things. Well, Element has a new one and it is lemonade iced tea. Starting point is 00:19:02 I mean, we were excited and we were like, oh, my God. Like we're invited on. So I remember the first week in L.A. They were like, okay, we're going to go do press. I never really traveled or went on a plane. I went to like Disney like once. So I was like, oh my God, we're going on a plane. We're going to California, Hollywood.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Like, oh, my God. So we were only supposed to be there. I feel for like three days. And everyone knew we were in town. So we stayed. for like a week and a half. Oh wow. Like doing like Fallon and all the shows.
Starting point is 00:19:28 And that's when we met you. Yes. Yeah. And it was just, it was crazy. We were like, did we make it? Like overnight too, right? Crazy. I mean, yeah, it really was crazy.
Starting point is 00:19:37 How it was just instant fame. Yeah. Did you find that anyone was ever weird to you guys in Hollywood? Like any actors or actresses, did they have like a little chip on their shoulder because you guys came from reality? No. You never experienced me. Everyone was a total opposite.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Everyone loved you guys. They were like, we love your show. Like, come with us. Like, here's a drink. Like, everyone was so nice. and like warming that I didn't expect celebrities to be like that. I love that. I was like, who was one like fan girl moment that you were like, oh my God, I can't believe
Starting point is 00:20:02 she or he even knew who I was? Leonard DiCaprio. That's a good one. That's a good one. That's a good one. She was posing on the carpet and we were walking by and we're like, oh my God, Beyonce. She's like, stop, stop. And she ran over to us and gave us all a kiss on the cheek.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Stop. And said, I love your show. No. I swear to that. Wait, that's amazing. Amazing. Yeah. So like so many people just like watching our show.
Starting point is 00:20:24 and like acknowledging us and saying they love us. It was crazy. That is very cool. Yeah. What is the coolest thing you guys got to do because of the show, would you say? Like, what's a highlight that stands out for you? Well, for me personally, I got to do WrestleMania. Very cool.
Starting point is 00:20:39 Which is amazing. I remember that. And Dancing with the Stars was the best. Did you do that? I did. How was it? When? Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:20:47 2010 or 11. How'd you do? I got kicked off after the third episode. Rude. Yeah, but you want to know what happens, Snookie? So I... What were you dancing with? Mark Ballas.
Starting point is 00:20:58 Who did you dance with? Sasha. It was his first year. Oh, yeah. Oh, it was. What year were you on it? 2017? I think I remember when you were on it. But I...
Starting point is 00:21:09 So my ex-husband and I got engaged really fast. We broke up and I did dancing with the stars. And they wanted me to talk about how we broke up. And I said no. And that same week, they kicked me off. I'm like, the shit's rigged. You're lying. No, and I was like...
Starting point is 00:21:22 I always thought it was great, too. I was like a pretty good dancer. I was like, what do you mean? Yeah, because I wouldn't talk about it. Anyways, whatever, it's fine. How far did you make it? Week 7. That's good.
Starting point is 00:21:34 Did you like it? I loved it. I was so upset. And I left as a zombie because it was Halloween week. So I didn't even leave cute. Oh, what a bummer. I had like crap makeup on. I was so upset.
Starting point is 00:21:43 And he's like, why are you crying? I'm like, I'm leaving as a zombie. I'm not even leaving cute. I'm like a cute dress. What was your favorite dance? Do you even remember? I love the quick step. I don't think I ever.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Oh, no, I did do it. I did do it. I did do it. I killed a quick step. I bet you. I want to go and watch your dances now. Yeah, I look so professional. I love it.
Starting point is 00:21:59 Every time I get drunk, I'm like, look at me. I'm dancing with stars. I wish I could remember. I just did it last week in Canada. I was like, watch me. I don't remember any of my shit. I can do like one little cha-cha thing. That's it.
Starting point is 00:22:09 It's so bad. No, yeah. It's like it's drunk moves. Drunk moves. Yeah. I love that. Yeah. Do you guys have producer credit on family vacation?
Starting point is 00:22:19 No. Well, how come you guys never got that? I just feel like that was. never an option. It was never on the table. Yeah. Why? Don't you guys think after all of these years, you could, for sure? I mean, that would be great. Yeah. I'll represent you. Yeah. That would be great. No, that was never an option. I feel like we all tried very hard. You did try. Yeah. I feel like if you guys all came together and you were like, well, then none of us are doing it. They would 1,000 percent. Well, that's why it's bittersweet that we have a next chapter. Because now we can push for the things that
Starting point is 00:22:49 we really want. There you go. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. So I'm excited for what's to come. And have you ever been able to get anything out? Like, have you filmed anything? And then it's going to come out and you're like, hey, you know what, actually, I'm really not comfortable with this. No. Because you just don't care. You're like, whatever, I'm an open book.
Starting point is 00:23:05 No, yeah. But also, like, me being a mom and, like, say, like, I fall and I'm drunk and I fall, like, off the couch and, like, my underwear shows. And it's, like, in a trailer. I'm like, can you please just, like, take that out, like, and don't show that ever. Yeah. They're nice to be like, okay, like, we get it. So they will listen to you.
Starting point is 00:23:23 On silly things like that. That's great. But it's not silly to me because I hate that. No, I don't think that's... I'm like, I don't want to look like a trash mom. When you become a mom. Yeah. It changes when you become a mom.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Yeah. I respect that. But they'll listen to you. That's great. With little things like that, yeah. But nothing big. But like big scenes to where like there's a fight and you didn't like what you said. No.
Starting point is 00:23:44 No. Do you see everything before it comes out? No. You still don't. Snooky. No. Oh my God. Even like the previews.
Starting point is 00:23:51 You know when you do press and press like sees. previews of like the episode or they see the full episode before and they're asking you about it. You haven't even seen it yet. We've never even seen it. Come on. That seems insane to me. Oh, so every time it airs, it's the first time we're seeing it too. And I'm like, oh my god. So you're probably like racing home to see it to watch it in real time. Yeah. To be like what is going on. Oh my God. That gives me like a pit in my stomach for you. Yeah. But I guess you have an idea. But it's also like I'm a fan also. So I'm like judging us like, oh, this is good. This is a good episode. Nice. Well, that's the thing. It's like sometimes you have to remove yourself from the situation.
Starting point is 00:24:23 Yeah, I'm pretending it's not me and my friends. Yeah, so you're smart. Yeah. You're smart. I know. What does a normal day look like for you when you're not filming? Just normal life, mom, businesswoman. Normal life.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Yeah, getting up, taking the kids to school. So obviously I have to bring Lorenzo to school, which is like so early because it's middle school. I know. So like, come on, get up. Because I'm not a morning person and I like my sleep. But obviously we have to be moms. What time are you out the door in the morning?
Starting point is 00:24:49 For Lorenzo, like 7 o'clock. Yeah. Are you making lunches, breakfast? So usually buy the lunch, but I forgot to buy the lunch for the month. So I'm making the lunch. So it's all sandwiches and just chips, like, whatever. Or I'll, like, drop off McDonald's. Like, I don't have time. I'm tired. I get it. Like, what do you want? I'll drop it off. Yeah, I get it. I'm not like a cookie cutter mom. I get it. I'm like just surviving. I'm surviving. I'm surviving. Trying to get through. Yeah. So, yeah, wake up at 7, bring Lorenzo to school, come back, get my two others ready because they're still in elementary. Bring them there. And then I usually go to my store, Madison, which is, you know, like 10 minutes away for me. Oh, that's nice. Yeah. So go to my store, like see our new arrivals, do videos, make content. And then it's Starbucks and Target and Walmart. What a day. Why are we going to all, why do you need Target and Walmart? Because I just like walking around. Okay. Am I that old that I like to walk around? No, I love it. I get it. I love going to the grocery
Starting point is 00:25:46 store. It's like the same thing. I love going up and down every single aisle. Yeah. Just to do it. And then I go home and then I'll do cardio, whatever. Binge a couple episodes. Do some work in my office and then go get the kids. This is a great day. The best day. I love this for you. Yes. Okay. And then once the kids are home, what's happening? Dinner. Sports. Sports. So are you eating on the, like on the move? Yeah. It's from, yeah, it's a lot. Yeah. So making food before they get home. Oh, okay. Like you're prepping dinner. Yeah. Bring you on it to cheer. And then my son has wrestling. My little one just stays and hangs. Right. So yeah, it's mostly just carpels. Yep. Until nine o'clock. And then you're in best. Yep. I know. These are great days. It's great days. I love these days for you. Yeah. Okay, let's talk about your business. You have the Snooky Shop. Yes. You have four locations. So you've got Nashville. Yes. Which, are you in Nashville a decent amount or not really. Not really. I feel like I go like twice a year. Yeah. But I'm actually going in June. What are we going? Oh, my God. Of course I'm going to be gone. Where are you going? Cabo and L.A. My kids love going. Cabo, baby. Of course. I'm going. Where are you going? Cabo and L.A. My kids love going. Cabo, baby. Of course.
Starting point is 00:26:51 You are. It'll be a little bit trip with my kids. I love that. And then they want to go to like Disney and do all the stuff in L.A. So we're going to do that too. So I'll be gone for almost two weeks. All right. So I'll just squat at your house.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Go ahead. You can go check out Franklin and yeah. I love that. Go live in my house. No, yeah. So I'm going there. And then it's Madison, New Jersey, which is close to my house. Was that the first one you opened?
Starting point is 00:27:11 Yes. Yep. And then Ciside Heights. Oh my God. I love it. You're in seaside. Yeah. Seaside Heights.
Starting point is 00:27:17 And then I have Huntington, New York. Amazing. Yeah. You're opening in Austin. Yeah, girl, let's go. We were just talking about going to Austin. Come to Austin with me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Are you open yet? No, we're opening the end of June. Okay. I'm so excited. I'm so, it's actually. It's a good place, right? Oh my God. I feel like it's the best place right now to open up a store.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Are you actively looking? No. It took me like a couple of years to find that location. It's, yeah. Where else are you looking? What other places would you open? Oh, I was always thinking like Miami, Florida somewhere. Oh, Miami would crush.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Yeah. But it's like, I don't know, the locations there. I'm not. I know. You know. I know. Do you, well, I love, because you're super hands on with it. The whole thing.
Starting point is 00:27:58 The whole thing. The whole thing is my investment. Yeah. Okay. So you're 100% owner. Yes. Yes. I love that for you.
Starting point is 00:28:05 And then you're on line too. Your e-com as well, right? Yeah. I've been doing that since like 2010. So I always had my online store. This is amazing. But then, you know, once everything calmed down, I was like, I really want a brick and mortar. And then I did that 2018, 19.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Amazing. So then ever since then I'm just like boom, boom, boom, boom. Boom. Yeah. I love it. What made you want to get into retail? Well, I always worked in retail. I worked at Forever 21. I loved working at the mall. And I just helped clothes. Yeah. Like if I could have like a dream job, I would be working at a retail store. And so are you doing jewelry? You're doing all the designing and everything. Well, designing, we do. I design my merch. Right. But I'm up, but I'm more of a wholesaler. Okay. So you've got a bunch of other brands in there. Oh, that's fun. So you're a buyer. I'm a buyer. I design my own merch. Yeah. Because the smoky shot. Yeah, okay. Because I've seen all of your merch before. Yeah. So you're doing all of that. That's so fun. I do. How fun. I know. It's the best. What are your plans for it? Like in the next 10 years, what do you see with it? Oh, God. I hope I have more stores and I hope we're very successful and still killing it. Because it's very hard to run a store. Like one week, you can be like killing it. The next week, like, no one's coming in and you have all these employees to pay. I mean, it's a hit or miss. I know. I say it's like it's always like just sitting on your shoulders. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like it's always like just sitting on your shoulders. Yeah. Yeah. It's a a lot. And then people ask me this all the time. And sometimes I'm like, I've got the best answer. And other times I'm like, I have no fucking clue. But how do you balance it all? Like being a mom, you're on TV business. I don't know. It's a lot. Yeah, I really don't know. I know. I feel like I just do it. I do love being busy and I do love multitasking. But I also love to bed rot and I'll
Starting point is 00:29:41 shut my phone off and you won't hear from me for two days. That's important. And everyone's like, hello, like I need these answers. And I'm just like, I'm done. You're prioritizing you. Yeah. It's called self-care. Yeah, so I feel like I'm doing a lot more rock days than I should. It's good. It's because I'm getting older. I don't know. No.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Like I'm old and cranky. I, me too. I get it. How old are you? I'll be 39 in November. Yeah, I'm like a year older than you. Yeah. You're going to be 40?
Starting point is 00:30:08 I'll be 40 in January. I know. You don't look it though. I love you for that. You don't look it though. Thank you. That's all that matters. That's all that matters.
Starting point is 00:30:17 No, I love you. Yeah. No, I know. Yeah, I'm like trying to plan my 40th now. But we'll see. You can't plan your 40th. It has to be a surprise. Well, no.
Starting point is 00:30:25 If I was in a relationship, maybe it'd be a surprise. No, you're your friends. I'm too much control freak to. I'm like, I want all my core people to just be at a beach somewhere. Oh, okay. I don't want it to be like a whole to do. Yes. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:30:36 I want to walk in and fireworks going off. And yeah, I want the whole thing. Well, I hope you get that for your 40th. Surely you're, yeah. Well, yeah. You're listening. You got two years. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:30:47 You got a minute. Two years to plan. You got a minute. I love it. Let's take a minute to talk about momentum. Starting point is 00:31:21 Momentum focuses on the things that actually decline as you age. cellular energy, collagen, cognitive sharpness, joint health, gut function. Instead of sourcing each ingredients separately hoping they interact well, you get a precisely formulated shake that handles it in one shot. It comes in five flavors and it's designed to taste good enough to actually look forward to. Something that I'm really into right now is collagen and hyluronic acid, which is really good for joints. Of course, your skin and connective tissue ingredients that matter more in your 40s and 50s than they ever did before. There is grass-fed weigh protein and digestive enzymes, so it actually absorbs well. I've been in phases where I've taken handfuls of supplements every time I eat, and it does get
Starting point is 00:32:05 really annoying. So I love that there's a shake now that can replace that. Momentum has become one of those things I didn't realize I needed until I'd been using it for a few weeks. My mornings feel less like a production. I'm not standing over a counter trying to remember what I've taken. I just feel good, clearer, more even. So go to momentumshake.com slash honest and simplify your supplement intake.

Yeah, 11 years this November. That's incredible. What would you say the key to your successful marriages? I feel like I just feel like it's always
Starting point is 00:35:53 I'm obsessed with you Like marriage isn't easy And I feel like at this point We're like siblings And we get so annoyed with each other That I'm like you need to go over there I'm gonna go over here And then we're fine
Starting point is 00:36:05 And then like we'll go on a date night And be nice And then the next day it's just like siblings Yeah So I feel like we're at that old marriage stage You already there Yes
Starting point is 00:36:16 But yeah it's going But you guys seem like you like you like each other, like from the outside, like you guys do seem like buddies. I think that's important. Is that fair to say? Yeah. Yeah. Like you enjoy each other. We do enjoy each other and we have great times and I feel like we're great with the kids and we have a great schedule. So when I have to work and I have to like go somewhere, he's with the kids. Like I don't have a nanny. I don't have a babysitter. It's all Gianni. It's so nice. Yeah. Yeah. So it's nice to be able to just have that balance. Yeah. That partnership. It's a Yeah, and then when he wants to go golf and I'm home and he golfs for the weekend or goes out, I'm like, yeah, go.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Because I just, I was away for work for two days. Yep. So we have a great balance. That's so nice that you can count on him. A good dad to me is like the sexiest thing on the planet. Yeah, he's a great dad. You're so lucky. That's so great.
Starting point is 00:36:59 Yeah. So just prioritizing each other, making date night a real thing. Yeah. Yeah. Just, and I would love more vacations alone. Yeah, you guys should. Yeah. So we're just trying to figure that out.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Yeah. Like, I want to go away for like the weekend. You should. Without the kids and just. I know. Go on the beach and drink all day. You should. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Who would watch the kids if you guys did that? Do you guys have family? Yeah. So his mother-in-law is great. My parents are great. Right. Just drop them off and bye. Oh, that's so nice.
Starting point is 00:37:24 I love that you don't have a nanny. Have you ever had a nanny? No. Good for you. Yeah. I mean, I had a babysitter here and there to like watch, you know, my baby. Yeah. But I'm like running errands when he was like little.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Yeah. But yeah. You raised all your babies by your husband, but like you did it by yourself. Yeah. I just feel like I never trusted anyone. And yeah, like going through the nanny service and stuff, like they know who you are. Yeah. And some of my castmates had terrible experience with that.
Starting point is 00:37:48 So I was like, no, I'm going to figure it out. You're a badass. I lie. You're doing all the things. Like you're out there in the trenches doing it all. I'm impressed. Well, you also, though, I feel. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:58 But I mean, I have a babysitter still. She picks them up from school every day. I'm like, I can't. Yeah. I had a nanny. I had a nanny when they were little. I'm kind of the same way, though. It's like, I'm such a control freak.
Starting point is 00:38:08 And I'm like, by the time I explain. to someone what to do or how to do it, even more like an assistant more than anything now. I'm like, I could have just done it myself. You have an assistant? No, I'm saying like, I don't because I'm such a control freak that I'm like, I'll just do it myself. Same. Like, I would love.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Everyone always asks, like, why don't you have an assistant? I'm like, because I'll do it myself. Yeah. Like, I'm sure if like times were crazy and like I didn't have the time to do the things, I would get one, but no. I like doing things myself. I know. I like running out.
Starting point is 00:38:35 I like doing errands. Me too. I like being the ones picking up my kids except for school. But like taking them to basketball. I hate school pickup. Well, it's... And I look disgusting. Well, I never look good.
Starting point is 00:38:45 I'm in pajamas and crocs and... Sometimes I don't even brush my teeth to drop them off in the morning. No makeup. My hair is not brushed. No, I like... I just put big sunglasses on. And I'm like... My windows are tinted.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Thank God. I like... No, I have to like get out because I still have a little. Oh, my God. He's in kindergarten, so I have to walk out and be like... Oh, game changer when you don't have to get out of the car anymore. No, I know. I just drop them off.
Starting point is 00:39:06 Bye. Yeah. My too old is easy. Yeah. I'm so over kindergarten. I don't think you have a little one in kindergarten. Yeah. Oh, so you're like still fully in it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Are you done? You're done. Yes, I'm done. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I got a dog. There you go. Yeah, because I always said I wanted four kids. But after Angelo, I was like, no. No. I know. I get it. Because at some point, like, when they all go off to college, like, I want to be able to, like, travel and, like, do the things. So if I keep having kids, I'm going to be 80 by the time. You're never going to be able to travel. Exactly. That's so funny you say that, though, about the dog. Because I was. I just put my German Shepherd to, we had to put her down a few months ago. And I was going to get another one. But I'm like, I'm like doing the math on it. I'm like, but if I do, because I'll be, my kids will be out of the house in eight years. Maybe that sounds like a lot. But to me, I'm like, I know how fast that goes. My oldest has five, five more years in the house that like breaks my heart. Well, same with you. Yeah, I know. Same with you. Are you seventh grade right now? Is that your oldest?
Starting point is 00:40:03 Okay. Yeah. So, yeah. So I've got three. But my daughter, I only have eight more years with. I'm like, that goes by so fast. And I want to be able to travel. Yeah. So I'm like, I don't want to bring another dog into the mix because then that'll be... Just do it. Well, I already have two dogs, so it's not like we're lacking in the dog department. You're fine. You separate Snooky and Nicole. Yeah, I used to when I became a mom.
Starting point is 00:40:27 I was like, I'm Snooky for like the show and like that's the brand and that's who I am on the show. But me as a mom, I want to be Nicole. And that's when I first became a mom. Now I'm like, whatever. I don't care. Right. It is what it is. Like Nicole, Snooky, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:40:40 Yeah, it's like too hard to try to differentiate. Yeah. But you do look at them like two different personas. Yeah, like Snooki is the girl that's going out for the mom's night out and enjoying herself and having fun. And then Nicole's the mom doing the laundry, cleaning the house, being a mom at home. Yeah, being a slob. Where did being a slob?
Starting point is 00:41:00 Where did Snooky even come from? So when we did the applications and we tried out for the show, they really wanted everyone to have nicknames. So like when you're filling out the application, it's like, okay, my name is Nicole. but like what do your friends call you? And I'm like, well, they call me Nick. And they were like, no, something else. And I'm like, okay, well, one of my really good friends, my only friend, Katie,
Starting point is 00:41:20 she's the only person that called me Snooky or Snooks. And it's from Save the Last Dance. Oh, I did not realize that. Yeah, so she started calling me that from Save the Last Dance. And she was the only person in my life that ever called me Snook. She never called me Nicole. So I was like, all right, well, my one friend, Katie calls me Snooky. And they were like, done.
Starting point is 00:41:40 How funny is that? So like the situation, how did that come up? Oh, it's freaking abs. Oh, because he referred to them as a situation. Yeah, self. Yeah, self-appointed. The abs that you licked. I know.
Starting point is 00:41:53 That was a big moment in my life. That was for the longest time. That's my favorite picture. I was like, there was like one thing I could scrub from the internet. It might be that photo. You're excited. Who are you with? I was with my friend Missy and, God, who else was I with?
Starting point is 00:42:07 I can't remember. Like a crew of us. I think we came from like a birthday. dinner. So we were gone. We all were. Yeah, okay, good. We were all in the same boat. Yeah. So funny. Good time. Okay. So recently you revealed that you have stage one cervical cancer. Yes. How did that feel getting those results back? Terrifying. Like, hi, am I dying? What is going on? Yeah. I definitely had a breakdown. Like, oh my God. What am I going to do? Like, I got to get my will in place. Like, what's going to happen? Like, planning my funeral. I was being so dramatic.
Starting point is 00:42:36 But then, like, I did research. And I was like, this is so. common for women and no one really talks about it and I'm gonna be okay because you know there's things I have to do and I'll be fine because stage one is like the best case scenario. Yeah. So yeah, I just have to get a hysterectomy and then just have to watch it for the rest of my life. Okay. But yeah, it's scary. When you hear the word cancer, you're like, oh my God, like I'm dying. I have to do all these things and my body's gonna change. Yeah. Were you just going in for a routine checkup? No, so I always had abnormal pap smears because I never got the HPV shot. Oh. So yeah. So from when you were like a teenager?
Starting point is 00:43:10 Yeah, always abnormal. I always had to go every six months. Yeah, so I always had to make sure I was okay. And, you know, doing the pap smears and then I would have to go back to, like, get more samples. Then everything was fine. But then recently, it was like pre-cancerous cells. And you have to come back and then do the coposcopy and, oh, this severe pre-cancer. And then doing the biopsy.
Starting point is 00:43:32 And it's like, oh, hi, you have cancer. So, yeah, it happened quick. Wow. And I'm sure deciding to go public with that. was a tough decision or did you find it to be kind of easy? Like what was that process deciding if you were going to come out with that or not? So I didn't think I was going to tell anyone, just like my close family and that's it. And let's deal with this.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Like no one's going to know. But then once I went on TikTok because I didn't know anything about cervical cancer or hysterectomy, what is this? What is going on? Because, you know, when you Google it, it's just like words. Yeah. It's like Wikipedia words. Like this is what's going to happen. But I needed like personal.
Starting point is 00:44:08 I needed someone to be really. And like talk about their experience. So I went on TikTok and there's just so many women saying I just got diagnosed with stage one. This is what I have to do. And then other TikTok saying how they got a hysterectomy. It wasn't that bad. But you know, I have to rest. Just like all the women's experience. Yeah. And I was like I feel like I need to tell my story because I literally looked for these women to make me feel better. So why not talk about it? Because nobody talks about it. And it's so common. Yeah. It's so common to have stage one. cervical cancer. I know. That's why I love that you're talking about it because it makes other women feel not as alone. Yeah. And also like go get your pap smears. I know. Like I, this happened because I put off my my appointments because I didn't want to go. It's uncomfortable. You're encouraged. I don't think I've gone in like two years. You're encouraging me to go. Okay. So go get a freaking pap smear. I know. That's what, yeah, it's good. We don't go because it's uncomfortable. It's gross. Like it's not nice. It's not fun. No, it's not fun. But it doesn't mean that we shouldn't be going. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:10 Yeah. So I held off for two years. And then that's when it started to be like pre-cancerous. And then I held off again because I was like, I don't want to deal with this. It's going to hurt because I have to do more scraping. Yeah. And I was like, I just don't want to deal with it. And then that's when it escalated to that. Damn. Yeah. Okay. So next step. So you're going to get the hysterectomy. Yes. When are you doing that? I don't know yet. Okay. So probably the summer. Okay. What's the recovery on that? I don't even know. Well, like two weeks of like not lifting or traveling and I'm literally traveling every single week. Right. Right. It's finding the time. Yeah. And I talked to the doctor. So all my friends and, you know, my family's yelling at me like, who cares about work? Like you got to just get this done. But I'm like, when you have a TV show, you can't just move production. Like it's already set in stone. Like I have to go to Canada. Maybe they would be a little willing to work with you on this. I think it's fine. I just want to get the show done. It's almost done. Yeah. And I talk to the doctor and I'm like, can this. escalate to stage two like overnight and he's like no it'll take a couple years like i think you're okay to hold off till summer okay so i got the okay from the doctor okay yeah so yeah once everything comes down in the summer i'm gonna do that and then and your kids know obviously right yeah how did they take the news they were just like are you dying oh like mom are you dying that makes me so sad i know
Starting point is 00:46:26 my little one was like mommy are you going to heaven i'm like can we stop i like had a mental breakdown i was like everything's gonna be fine mommy just has to like do her tests and stuff So, and our surgeries and whatever. And how are you feeling about the surgery? I'm terrified. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:43 I'm like scared to get a needle. Yeah. So I don't like pain. I don't like any of the things. So obviously I'm just going to go, not even think about it, get it done, and then just deal with it. Because that's what I did with, because I had a surgery two months ago for the cone biopsy. They have to put you under. Oh.
Starting point is 00:47:01 They have to put you under and they take a big chunk out of your cervix. So they took, like, a cone out of my cervix. already. What was the cover you like on that? Were you in pain after that? Yeah, but it was, it was like horrible period cramps for like a week. Yeah. Wasn't terrible. Wow. Yeah. Oh my gosh. So the fact that I did that, I'm like, okay. And I got my boobs done before. So you can do, yeah, girl. You can do anything. You're fine. Yeah. So I actually didn't think boobs was that bad if I'm being honest. Oh my God. Are you kidding? Did you? I woke up and it was like a dump truck on my. It's heavy. Yes. It's heavy. I couldn't breathe. I was freaking out. That's true. I read it mine like a year ago. And there was like a hole in my nipple. I'm like, what is that. I'm like, what is that. I was that. I was
Starting point is 00:47:36 I feel like there were guts coming out. I hated it. I was so bandaged up. I couldn't see any. No, I took the bandaged off to look. Snuckie. I know. I put it back on them. It does feel heavy. It does feel like a bus is sitting on your chest. But I want to do that again eventually. I know. I just redid mine. Yeah. These are 11 years. Mine were 10. Yeah. I had a ruptured implant. How? I don't know. And that's the other thing. I had no idea how long it was ruptured before. I knew we knew it was encapsulated. Like did you have pain? No, but like I knew my, it felt, It just looked weird. It was like hard as a rock.
Starting point is 00:48:09 And so we knew it was encapsulated. But once you got in there, yeah, the implant was ruptured. So same kind of thing. I talked about it publicly because I was like, this encourages women to get their boobs checked out or their implants checked out. You know, I just think I had no idea. That could have been in there for years. You just never know. It's scary.
Starting point is 00:48:24 It is scary. I mean, it's all the things that we deal with. So they're squishy still. Yeah, make sure they're not hard as a rock. Oh, okay. Wait, I did want to ask you this too. I heard that you tell your kids that the Jersey Shore was acting. Is that true?
Starting point is 00:48:37 Yes. Snuggie, that's the funniest thing I've ever heard in my entire life. I'm gonna say, yeah, Mommy,
Starting point is 00:48:42 like, wanted to go out and get wasted and get arrested on the beach. You're like, do cartwheels naked in the club.
Starting point is 00:48:49 You are hilarious. Yeah, as of right now, I was told to do that and I'm an actor. You're an actress. Yes. You deserve an Oscar.
Starting point is 00:48:56 But I mean, you know, once they get 1819, I was just see what happens when they get over. I'd be like, okay, that was mommy like living her life.
Starting point is 00:49:02 That's genius, though, to tell them that. Yeah. I feel like they made me do that. Like, I would never do that. I mean, I really can hide behind that. Like, I would, some of it.
Starting point is 00:49:12 Yeah. You can. Anyways. Yeah. Well, Snokey, I love you. It is so good to see you. I know. Sam.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Thank you for being here. We should hang out more. Thousand percent. You're going to come to Nashville and you're going to call me and you're going to let me know. Well, every time I'm in Nashville, you're not there. I know. That's true. But we need a fun Broadway night together, I feel like.
Starting point is 00:49:27 Yeah. I'm literally 45 minutes away from the city. So whenever you're here. Okay. We can get together a lot. Okay. We need to do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:34 We owe it to ourselves. And then tell everyone where they can find you, the Snooky Shop, the show, like plug all your things. Yeah. So at Snooky and The Snookyshop. com and The Snookyshop on Instagram. And that's basically my baby. There you go. The Snooky Shop.
Starting point is 00:49:50 And then the New Jersey Shore is airing May 7th. May 7th. It's our last season on MTV. But we'll have more. But I'm excited for the season. It's not the end. It's not the end. It's a different chapter.
Starting point is 00:50:02 Maybe we do like a jersey show. Shore Hills crossover. That'd be sick. But you can't act. With the new mayor of... You have to be real. I will be... With you, I'll be real.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Yeah, you have to be real. We'll get the new mayor of L.A. 2 and 1. Love that. So you're the best.
