02:22 It is September 15th, and Big Ten Aryan had a hell of a weekend. We had a good time. Really good time. I can tell. I can tell from the voices. Did you guys carry on? It sounded like you carried on.
02:38 There was some carrying. Does that mean get lit? Yeah. Yeah, we carried on. Yeah. I seen Big T. Yeah, Big T was lit at the Brave game before the UT game. And it didn't hit me, so that was Friday night.
02:52 It didn't really hit me that bad until Sunday. Yesterday I was in a bad way. I went to sleep at like 8.30 last night. But I feel I'm back. I'm good to go now. What a good time, man. Shout out to the sweet lady in front of us. Big T forgot the cards for the car game we play on the
03:10 baseball games. And some lady was like, I have cards right here. She just had a random pack of cards that she was keeping her kids busy with. Yeah, she brought them for her kids during a rain delay. Not to her. That's amazing. Yeah. So you guys played the game?
03:25 We did. You guys. Oh, I got a, I got to, I got to, I cut out early, so I still got to pay you boy. You want to explain the game to the listeners? If you want a little, little fun at a ball game, you take a deck of cards and you have ace through 10 and that corresponds to each spot in the lineup and then the 10 is no homer and whatever you draw you get that spot in the lineup for both teams so if you have five people you each draw two if you get one and seven you have the lead off in seventh spots in the order and then whoever
03:58 hits the first home run you win and then you can keep doing it you know if there's three homers in the game you do it that many times so yeah it's a fun game yeah 20 and five especially it's fun Like, we got introduced to it. Was that Yankee Stadium? I think it was in a Mets game. Metz game. And so some random. And Foster, Foster, you want to play the Kai game?
04:20 You know what I was like? Play Australian? I mean, it's close. You know what I'm saying? But no, it's dope when you play with strangers, you know what I'm saying? Whatever, like five, but 10, but 20 bucks, whatever. When everybody put in, it's dope. Because it's dope when you keep reseverling it.
04:34 Somebody hit a home run. You have to reshuffle the cars and you get a new order in the lineup. But yeah, it's really fun. It's really fun. Yeah, it's a great time. It's an awesome time out of the game. I got to FaceTime from you guys on Friday. And I just happened to be in Atlanta at the same time.
04:51 I must have missed you in the airport by like 10 minutes. I don't know because I was in the Atlanta airport for about eight hours on Friday. Well, I think I left. I saw your tweet from the airport I had just left. Wow. What time did you leave here? I left Chicago. I think my flight was at 8 a.m.
05:11 Okay. And then I flew to Atlanta and then met up with the rest of Pup Punk in the Atlanta airport, then met up with the rest of the crew, and then we're going to get our connecting flight to Tallahassee. And then that just kept getting delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed. And then eventually we couldn't make it to Tallahassee time anymore. So we ended up just staying in the airport for no reason and flying back. But there was a brief moment on Friday night where I thought, my flight out back to Chicago, that's going to be delayed so much.
05:42 That's not going to leave. I should just leave the airport and go hang out with you guys. You should have. In Atlanta. So, yeah, it probably would have been a more fun use of my time. You guys have a good time on Friday night after the game? Aaron left early. Left the game of the year early.
05:56 It was an incredible game. Yeah, it was awesome. I didn't know that was going to happen. That's why you got to stay. Yeah. Well, I mean, I had no skin in the game. So if it was the Brewers, I'd have stayed to the, to the last, to the whistle, you know, but I'm glad that you, you know what I'm saying,
06:13 got to see your team live, both your teams live, back-to-back days. It's a good day. It was awesome. Braves game of the year, Friday, Tennessee, took care of business Saturday. Great, great weekend. Love that. Yeah. No, I got to see my homeboy coaches for Georgia Tech. And so he got me on the sidelines and got to see his whole workflow. It was dope. And the coaches that the OC was, he was basically the OC when I coached for the Texans. Gotti. My dog.
06:46 Just trying to give them tips. What did you say? I felt like they had a mismatch with the tight end. So I just told him to say, man, a tight end. That's a mismatch all game. Yeah. You were coaching against Tennessee? No, I was just giving them.
07:01 Well, I know, but you were feeding them info. So I was conflicted. I ain't going to lie. So like, look, yeah, I went to the University of Tennessee, but, like, my best friend from the University of Tennessee coaches at Georgia Tech. If Georgia Tech does good, his career continues. I'd like to see my man's do good. Like, Tennessee always going to be there, win or lose.
07:20 They're always going to be there. That's a different situation. They don't do well. He's out of job. Their tight end was good. Quarterback. Tighten going to be, I think he played the next level. He handles his business in college.
07:37 What did you think, Big T? Of which team? Of your balls. Good. Phazon Brandon, first start on the road. Handled everything well, no turnovers. I also thought Georgia Tech wasn't the pressure in them like they should have.
07:51 Like, all those things that sounds like this is a freshman in his first road game. Like, you got to bring it to them. Yeah, they stacked him a few times. But, I mean, we also ran for 300 yards. So they, you know, we had everything going. It was good, except for the block punt. That can't happen. Got a punt blocked.
08:07 We walked right into them. What do you think about about Michigan being the most confusing team in college football after two weeks? Actually, it was wild, yeah. That shit was wild. Erie and can attest, we were at a bar pregame and I said, we need Michigan to win this because I've watched college football long enough to know that a team that looked like trash in week one that everybody says sucks is going to upset somebody and I would prefer it to be Michigan than Georgia Tech.
08:33 Yeah. I said one of those teams is winning. Mm-hmm. That's actually a perfect way to look at it. And it was Michigan. It was. And they actually- Oklahoma State as well. Oklahoma State, too. Michigan looked good. Their defense certainly did. Defensively, they look good.
08:48 I'll rephrase that. I think that's valid to say like the offense still has a lot of work to do. But the offense didn't look as bad as they did in week one, so that's progress. But the defense looked legit. Bryce Underwood's the best thing that ever happened to John Mateer as well. John Matier, and I was holding. some John Mateer tickets last year, just not a great player. No, this was a tough game for him.
09:12 But Bryce Underwood, people say everything about Bryce Underwood that they probably otherwise would say about John Materer. Do you think that, I mean, I think it's valid that Bryce Underwood's still a very young player. Obviously, the whole NIL thing and the amount of money that these guys are getting paid, it makes it, I think, easier and more valid to criticize like an 18-year-old or a 19-year-old. stuff. But still, at the same time, like, he's got room to grow. He did lose to Western Michigan.
09:41 He did lose to Western Michigan. But I think, like, to say that somebody at the age of 18 is going to be, that's, you can determine whether or not they're going to be a good quarterback. I don't think that's necessarily always the case. I agree with that. Guys are allowed to get better, but first time we saw him didn't look like he'd gotten much better. Did not over the course of the off season. And then he wasn't, didn't light it up.
10:04 against Oklahoma either. Now, I would say that the, the take I agree with with college football conservative conservatives would be like, you know, like they, I agree, of course they should pay.
10:23 And of course, if you're getting paid, you should have critique. But sometimes that pay scale can lend itself to probably unnecessary critique, but we forget, like, no, they're not amateurers going to get paid, but like that is the developmental stage of football. Like you got to, like cats can get good in one or two years, see how games played, you know.
10:44 So you got to give them a little grace in college. Yeah. Who's the best case of like a quarterback that stunk when they, when they started in college, that got really good by the end? Arch wasn't great to start last year and finished very strong. And he didn't look great to start. Yeah.
11:02 On Saturday. either. And then by the end. Well, to be fair, he had what should have been a 60-yard completion to Cam Coleman at the beginning of the game that Cam Coleman juggled and put right into the hands of a defender. And then they had some bad breaks. But yeah, he didn't look awesome. But they had an incredible comeback. And yeah, guys are allowed to get better. It just doesn't seem that Bryce is maybe on that path. Yeah. I would agree that you have to see some like tremendous improvement from him over the next few weeks to really think that the, and I, it's kind of on one hand, not fair, given how, like, how much football he has played, because it's not a lot. And just because, you know, he got paid
11:48 millions of dollars. It's like, I do feel like a lot of these kids are going to get bailed on early. I think people would be critiqued. one of the highest rated recruits ever given his performance regardless of how much money he was making. I think that's that's the thing. And I think that's the folly in this entire system is those fucking high school rankings. How what is your metric for ranking a cat that's playing in Florida versus a cat was playing in Utah in high school at the high school level? Like what is your metric? What are you looking for? Because rankings in general are ridiculous at that at that level. Because what you're doing is you're watching film, right? But you're watching.
12:27 And there's so many different variables, so there's no, like, baseline metric in high school. It makes no sense to rank kids like that. I've always kind of been against rankings. It's stupid. I guess I was going to say, like, the top positions and the top players at their positions, they do a bunch of camps together and stuff. So I think that's what a lot of people look at when they get together. How do you perform against some of the other good players that are your same grade?
12:54 But, yeah, there's going to be a lot of people that fall through the cracks. For sure. Yeah, which is, it's the Reagan system at that level to me is pointless because they're just, they're just kids and they have no real coaching. I mean, some of them could have had, right? But at the collegial level and surely not the professional level. Like, so it's just, it's a pointless system that just is more for websites to do well, like rivals and shit like that.
13:19 Yeah, they are pretty predictive, though. They do it. I think. I mean, yeah, you're never, there are five stars who suck. There are three stars who are incredible. on the whole, like most of the five stars every year get drafted, a lot more get drafted in the first round than you would anticipate from that few players. I think if you get the five star system, the people that end up getting five stars coming out of high
13:44 school, they're usually, like, they've been evaluated heavily. So there's a lot of tape out there on them. There's a lot of people that have looked at their play. And so they usually, like, there are some busts at five stars, but they usually get, they get a lot of those correct. But it's more about the ones that slip through the cracks. That would have been a five-star if they'd been evaluated. It's pointless because the call a high school kid a bust is fucking bananas, dog.
14:09 Like, he has not played any real competition yet. Like high school level, top level ball is not a real competition. The next level is. But to call them a bust, this means you had all these expectations. That's you. You have them expectations. I just, I'm against the high school ranking systems. Yeah, it is.
14:27 kind of weird. It's very weird. I mean, I think some of the NFL pro scouting, like them kind of things are kind of, they be off too. So it's just too many variables to measure to rank kids like that. But like at the professional level, that's what you sign up for. But high school kids, like, no, man, it's too much going on.
14:47 Yeah. I actually have a question for you about NFL scouting. Joe Burrell to answer your question. Yep, Joe Burrow. He was somebody who was at the beginning, but then turned out to be great. Yep. Yeah, it's true. Ohio State just wasn't enough room for them. I have a question for you about NFL scouting. If you are, like you've sat in a lot of install meetings.
15:10 You've listened to the game plans so many times. Have you ever been in a meeting where your offensive coordinator, head coach is like, we're going to hunt this guy, this cornerback, or this defensive back, like, that's the weak link and we're going after him? Oh, yeah. It happens a lot. Oh, yeah. And has it ever backfired?
15:32 Or if they identify a guy, they're going to keep going at him until he fucks up? Well, you play off like, so like your strength as the offense versus their strength as defense. Or I'm sorry, their weakness to the defense. Like if they have a corner that's coming off of or coming back from an injury or we know he's hurt or something like that, like, yeah, you want to exploit that. Or test it. They'll test it early. Like, they'll do that, right? And that's,
16:00 coaches do that, they'll, they do what they call, like the first 15, yeah, first 15, but they'll script a place, they'll script plays.
16:07 And like, they'll deviate off if things happen, but for the most part, our first 15 plays are our first 15 plays. This is what we running. Yeah.
16:14 And it's kind of testing those kind of things. Is this dude, is this dude still hurt? Can he hold this up or, you know, uh, the exploiting of when I line up like this,
16:24 they have to line up like this. Um, so it's, It's the little chess game, the game within the game. But yeah, you absolutely, yeah, you go have to do. Like, and individually, right? So, like, you have, like, a game plan as a, as an offense. But then you watch film with your individual group, right?
16:46 And you see exploits. So, like, good example, this is we played Georgia, my junior year. And it's when we whipped them. And the whole, everybody was like, yo, Georgia. And this is, this was Georgia's, like, when Matthew Stafford was there, no show him arena. Like they were supposed to win this game.
17:02 But we knew watching film. We was like, yeah, we're going to get them and we're going to shock the world because, like, we just knew. And so one of the things was I was watching the safety. I forget what his name is, but I was watching the safety. And I was watching man film on him. And I noticed every time I was running back got in an open field
17:17 and he was in the middle, like inside the box, he goes straight to, like, he dive at your legs. And so I was like, if I see him in the hole one-on-one, I'm going to score. And exactly what happened That was one of the first drives We ran a look down and around scheme I went in, I saw him one-on-one, knew he was diving
17:34 to my leg, so I gave him a little left jab, spun, score. So shit like that, that's the fun, like little nuances of the game after we don't get to see, but it's like, yeah, yeah, if you, that's what you do. When you watch film, you're looking for weaknesses, absolutely. Interesting. Were there any, like, when it came to you
17:53 in the running game, if they were to pick somebody out that they go after, Was it more often than not a D-Liman or a linebacker? What do you mean, like, what we're going to go after? Yeah. Like, it's all contingent. Like, if we felt like somebody was sweet on the D-line, like we would run towards his side,
18:11 or if there's a linebacker who was, like, a little slower or felt like couldn't hold up. But as you grow, like, college, it's a little more, like, vanilla. And then the pros, those weaknesses get less and less. Because they're pros. Because everybody's pretty good. Everybody's pretty good, yeah. But again, like, so what happens throughout the season, like, week one is the best your team going to be, like, athletically.
18:38 Because what happens over the course of the season is injuries happen. And so by week 16, you playing with guys that you brought out the street and a lot of guys, you know what I'm saying? They're NFL caliber players, but they probably wouldn't make an NFL roster or they're bubble guys. But now they're playing key roles because a lot of your guys are hurt. Yeah. And so that's when you start exploring shit like that. That's when, yeah, when the depth becomes an issue and some teams aren't as deep as others. We'll get back to macro dosing in a second.
19:07 It's brought to you by Shady Rays. Quick question, guys. How are my Shady Rays basically the same quality as the $200 sunglasses that I used to buy? I've got them right here. It's actually one of my favorite pairs that I've got on me. I have a new pair that I got this summer, specifically designed for the golf course. Polarized lenses. You can see the ball really easily.
19:26 It's a great set of sunglasses. I bought a ton of Shady Rays at the start of this summer, and it was one of the best purchases that I've made. I put them in several locations, different baskets throughout the house, keep some at work. I've always got some Shady Rays, keep some in the car. They are the best sunglasses in the world. I'm wearing shady rays to the lake on the boat, at the game, on the job site.
19:48 You can wear them anywhere. If you drop them in the ocean, they replace them. You knock them off the dock, they replace them. Sit on them day one, they replace them. And the crazy part is they're actually put. premium. They're polarized lenses. They cut glare hard, super clear optics, durable frame, solid hinges, clean classic styles. They look sharp. They don't try too hard. If you're outside, if you're on the water and the sun, if you're driving every day, you need shades that perform.
20:10 Go to Shadyrays.com. Grab a pair, get sunglasses with lost and broken protection. We've teamed up with Shadyrays to bring you an exclusive offer. If you go to Shadyerase.com and use code macro, take 50% off, two or more polarized sunglasses. Try for yourself the shades rated 5.5.5. stars by over 300,000 people. That's Shady Raises. Check him out today. You know what? I saw there was one play yesterday. It was week one, first Sunday, the NFL season last weekend. One play from the commanders that I absolutely loved, one player that I've had my eye on
20:44 for a long time because he was undrafted, I think out of Texas Tech, Tyler Owens. And at the Combine, he was talking about he doesn't believe in space or planets, which is nothing but respect free thinker I love it and he had this one he actually had two great plays on special teams he's an athletic freak
21:06 he was one of the most athletic people at the combine almost broke the record for the broad jump didn't run that well because he pulled a hamstring which you know something about Aaron and related to that yeah and so he was on draft as well so he's starting on special teams and um
21:21 Aaron have you seen this play no big T of you What game was this? It was commanders against Eagles That was the most country I've ever heard you by the way What game was there?
21:31 That was a wild run that back That shit was a wild country Go ahead I'm sorry Look up right now Tyler Owens Just type into X.com The everything app It's all happening on X.
21:42 Is it the punt cover? Yeah yeah Just watch Tyler Owens Aaron Tyler Owens Watch this play that he made Because it might be My new favorite football play ever
21:53 Gunner Yeah I'll give you a second. Oh. Oh. Hey. Hey, this is going to be on every coaching teach tape for the maybe remainder of football. Yeah.
22:14 That is some exquisite elite. This is a perfect teach tape. What to do as a gunner, what not to do. Yeah. as the outside man. Oh my God. That might get them cats fired. Who are they?
22:32 I don't know who it was on the Eagles, but yeah, two stiff arms choke slams. 80 and 31. And then followed it up with you. You do not let him split you. That's further. You can't let him split you. He splits them and then he fucking, yeah.
22:45 Yeah. It's John Wick's shit. So like, yeah, yeah. Like he tackles him and it's like a suplex, but the coaching tape is two arms around two legs. That's the coach's take This is This is
22:59 I mean that man That man If he makes good plays Like the rest of the He's going to be a pro bow Or don't know if they do pro bowl anymore But all pro special teams player Yeah
23:10 I mean that that's exquisite That's that's That's type shit that's You get you excited That football's back Like that's amazing Like shout out to Tyler always And he undrafted
23:19 Undrafted yeah Represent the eighth round That's what we're talking about Eighth round merch I like that I like that. That could go, that could do numbers. Yeah, yeah.
23:30 You know, I can get, I can get Priest Holmes on it, Kurt Warner. You should make, you should make your own line of merch, yeah. Eighth round Hall of Fame. I'm going to make, I'm going to make my own eighth round Hall of Fame. There you go. I like that. Yeah. I like that too.
23:43 Who would be in the eighth round Hall of Fame? Who's the best undrafted quarterback? I would say Warren Moon. Oh. The War Moon or Kurt Warner. I was going to say Kurt Warner. Yeah. It's either one.
23:53 But, like, people, people sleep on War Moon. That boy was nasty, man. Brock Purdy was just one pickaway from being undrafted, too. That sucks because then you have two extra years on your contract. Yeah. For league minimum. He's still okay, though. If you picked the seventh round, they, like, they were telling me, they were like,
24:12 this is way better than seventh round, trust me. And I was mad at the time. I was like, no, I wanted to get drafted. But no, they were right. Yeah. Two years, I break the, you know what I'm leading the league of Russian. And now we had the contract table. Whereas if I had jacked in the seventh round, two more years in league minimal.
24:29 That's why I was pumped. I didn't get drafted, too. Yeah. I mean, it worked out better for you. Yeah, I was excited about that. That's what my agent told me. So some quick research. Quarterback in the undrafted Hall of Fame is Warren Moon, Kurt Warner, and Tony Romo.
24:43 Tony Romo, absolutely. Running back is Joe Perry, who was in the 50s. He's in the actual Hall of Fame. Priest Holmes and Aaron Foster. Absolutely. Wide receiver, Drew Pearson, and, Victor Cruz. Oh, yeah.
24:56 Tight end, Antonio Gates and Jason Peters. Yeah. There's John Randall. John Randall, absolutely. Dick Lane. Love that. I didn't know that, yeah.
25:10 Dick Lane? Yeah. Emmett Thomas and Adam Vinutary. Adam's a high caliber. You know what I'm saying? Eighth round hall of that. That's a good team. I feel like there's got to be another great wide receiver.
25:25 We haven't released any more. merch in a long time. I mean, this could be your brand. This is me. I like this. West Welker also undrafted. Yeah. Rod Smith. Oh, uh, James Harrison. Yeah. On defense, yeah.
25:40 Yeah, man. Eighth round hall of fame, baby. Aaron, make your own eighth round merch, uh, Adam Thielan, eighth rounder. I like it, yeah. And then send it out, send it out to the best players in the lead, the best undrafted guys. I bet you they'll wear it. It could be a good thing.
25:57 Yeah, it's got to be, it's got to be quality, though. So, you know what I'm saying? Trump's tariffs right now, you know, with the, with the exporting materials. We'll see, we'll see. Make it yourself. Be the change. Like, like, you want me to sew shirts? Yeah.
26:12 Yeah. Grow the, like, have the polyester. I'm an ideas guy. Me and Dave Rubin. I'm an ideas guy, you know? Ideas guys rock. It's usually code for just saying lazy. Everybody has ideas.
26:25 I got an ideas guy That's not true The people that do should also have ideas That's true But actually Big T, you're right Not everybody has ideas Yeah Yeah that's fair
26:35 Anything else about NFL Sunday I mean just one more time For Tyler Owens Like yeah okay That's one of the more Inspiring football players I've seen in a while Does it make you miss the game watching that
26:48 Well no No no No I didn't say No I don't play It's just inspiring like That is what like That football If you did like if like if an alien came down it was like show me your sport and I'd be like listen this dude was not picked right
27:04 They didn't want him he made them want him Think about that though you know that's that's that's that's that's inspiration they didn't want him He said no yes you do and made them want him got on the field and did some amazing shit Two dudes on him So he's a he's a safety by trade I'm interested I'm interested to see if he can develop into a defensive starter at some point because it's tough. Oh, well, he's pumped the brakes. He made an amazing play.
27:33 Yeah. That's a, you guys are in a tall, that's a big leap from an amazing special team's play to starting. Well, what I'm saying is he's a great athlete. When he's on the field, he's usually the best athlete overall. Obviously, technique that goes into playing safety, much different than being a gunner. and that, you know, the skill set's not always the same. We do have one player, Jeremy Reeves, who was a perennial pro bowler at special teams,
28:00 and he recently just finally got a starting job playing safety. So, like, you can make that transition, but it might take a long time. I'm just saying he's got the physical tools for it. You can look up and see he made another great play on another punt. Yeah, no, I'm not saying he can't. I'm just saying that's a lot to add. Like, the expectations,
28:22 You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Because that could ruin a man, you know what I mean? Yeah. I made a great play, and now I'm starting. Well, I hope that he continues to develop because it's fun to watch. I'm a fan. I'm an eight for I'm represented, you know what I mean?
28:37 This, that's, like, again, if I could, if I could have a non-fundible token about what the NFL's about. Yeah, it's that? Buy it? I would buy this in an NFT. Absolutely. So what would you say would be the other, if you were to ask you out about other sports, you aliens come down to Earth?
28:52 and you have 15 seconds to show them what that sport is. What clips are we talking about? An alien comes bound. What is basketball? What do you show them? Oh, that's okay. I'm showing them. I got 15 seconds?
29:08 Yep. I'm showing them, uh, blue gang. The last shot of the flu game. Wait, no, with the flu game, was the last shot, huh? No. I don't think that was the last shot here. Which is the one that, the Utah stands,
29:21 swear to Michael Jordan pushed off. It's that same series, right? Yeah. Yeah, different, different game. I mean, he did push off. He did, but they didn't call it. You do not push off, though.
29:33 I hate this argument. Like, with a passion. I'm not, I'm not denigrating it. No, because if you pushed off, that's a foul. It don't, it's a smart play because he got away with it. I hate this argument. Like, it's one of the ones that this gets to me. I'm sorry.
29:50 I hate it He did not push off He crossed the shit out of him And this is why When he Subsequently gets interviewed Russell Of course he pushed up
30:00 Like no dog You got crossed up Just eat that shit You got crossed And it was just like A ha Get it Aha
30:07 No man You got you got shook You got shook It's great cross That is basketball The goat's last Shot in a bulls Uniform
30:16 Yeah Nothing but net Putting a dagger and the heart of all those Mormons. I love it. I think I would show a Magic Johnson highlight tape. 15 seconds of his best plays. Oh, I thought you said a play.
30:30 Not even using the highlights. Okay, just one play then? Yeah, I mean, that's a good one, for sure. Yeah. That's a really good one. I would say maybe the LeBron Chase-down Block. That's a good one. But you also...
30:49 I wouldn't think you to be a... you know, I'm gonna pick a LeBron highlight guy. I mean, it's a great block. It was an awesome blog. Also, you get some, you get some Delhi runoff content in there too. It wouldn't be in that spot if it weren't for Delhi. Oh, hold on, I might change my mind. Because I had another one too.
31:06 All right, my other one would be the slow motion de-wayed lob to Braun. And then he'd go like that at the end. Yeah. That shit is poetry. What if we went to a different planet? and aliens were like, hey, come watch this. I want to show you our favorite sport. Here's a 15-seconding clip.
31:26 And it's just them like jumping around and doing like cool shit in the air. They're like, isn't that awesome that we can do this? And we're like, yeah, I guess. I guess that's kind of cool. Like you guys, you guys seem to be pretty athletic. That's a, no, you don't understand. Like, look how high. Look how high this dude jumped.
31:41 And you'd be like, my dog, but I mean, the gravity on this planet is nowhere near. Yeah. Yeah, you guys are, listen, you guys are playing an alien ball against plumbers, all right? It's a little heavier where you actually have to put force into the ground and then get up. Yeah, playing on Jupiter. I'll let me then. Yeah, like to see these guys play ball on Jupiter. What about baseball?
32:02 I think it's... I'm going to pick a Brewers highlight. I'm new to this. I ain't true to this. The first one that came to my mind was 2011 World Series, the David Free's walk off Homer. Okay. That's a good one. Wait.
32:20 Do we have Babe Ruth point into the stands on camera? Is that on camera? No. No, just the legend of it. We don't know. Nobody knows if it happened. Some people say. It's given Wilt?
32:30 Some people say that I think, I mean, the chances of Wilt scoring 100, I think are way, way more probable than the Babe Ruth point happening like we're told. Oh, I don't know. Now there's a debate. There's a lot of people that were at the Wilt game that never came out and said this is fake. somebody would so you'd have a lot of people being like hey i was there he did not score 100 points um the babe ruth thing i've heard that the uh the way that uh the field was laid out back then the bullpen or maybe it was a dugout he was pointing at either the bullpen or the dugout of his opponents and pretty much telling them like shut up when he pointed at him
33:12 i don't think it's like in the movies like the babe where he's john goodman's in the batter's box and he takes his bat and he points out to center field. He's like, I'm hitting it there. By the way, somebody should try doing that. No one's done that since, right? No one's even tried. Hey, there was a, she'll get clout. But what if you do it?
33:34 You're a legend. Most likely to do it. Fernando Tatis. To be able to pull it off or to attempt it? Both. I think the latter could be true. To attempt it to have it blow up in his face. And then also maybe to actually do it.
33:52 Did y'all say, I don't know if it was last year or the year before, there was a dude for the Mariners. I forget his name, brother. He, he, dude winds up to pitch and he steps out the box and just like, let's, let's the balls fly. Let's the boss fly. Let's the ball fly. He did it for three pitches in a row.
34:08 The next pitch, he steps up and yams that bitch out. You don't see that one? I don't recall. It was, I don't know, I don't know what his name is, though. Let me see if I could find it. Might be Julio Rodriguez. is. I don't know. You know what else would be awesome to show people or to show an alien? Like a sick double play. Yeah. But like home run. I mean, the home run is arguably
34:34 the coolest thing in sports. But then the aliens might be like, the best home run is infinitely better than the best double play. Not infinitely, no. Yeah, dude. A spectacular double play. It rocks, but I mean, in terms of visually, I think. Have you seen Barry Bonds hit home runs? I have. I've watched Barry Bonds at a lot of homelands. Yeah, it was sick. But like a sick double play, like barehanded, toss, jump over the slide. Yeah. Because if you should just show an alien at a home run,
35:06 they're like, what are all these guys doing just staying around the field? Like they don't understand. They're watching it go 500 feet. They don't understand the concept of baseball. If you just got nine guys sitting there and watch. Do they understand what a double play is? No, but they see like the ball hits the bat and then they see the beauty of the defense. I think it's a better representation.
35:26 Walk off Homer might be the coolest thing in sports. It's a great thing in sports. I just don't know if it's on the 15 second teach tape for aliens about baseball. Hail Mary is better maybe just because it's so much less common and more difficult. Here it is Randy or a Zarina. A rosarana, yeah. Yeah. So he stepped out of the box three, three pitches in a row.
35:53 and dude threw a ball. And then the fourth one, he stayed in that bitch and hit it. It's fine. Look it up. It's fire. It's just so disrespectful. It's so disrespectful. For football, I might just take Mike Allstott, Toting the Rock.
36:15 That's what you're showing to represent all the footballs, Mike Allston. I think you get the violence and you get the concept of offense versus defense. I think, yeah, I think I would. Hill Mary's great, don't give me wrong. I'm not saying that home runs bad. I'm not saying that. With respect, my gosh, if we're going to show, if we're going to show runners, though.
36:38 You got to show the most beautiful runner that has grace to the earth. Danny Woodhead. It's Barry's great. Yeah, aside from Danny Wood. I'm talking about Barry Sanders. Like, that would be impressive to watch. From a physics standpoint. I mean, aliens, we got to assume they understand the laws of physics, right?
36:56 They're here. True. So the physics of him moving in those directions will catch their eye. That's true. See, I'm thinking more individual-specific plays. My mind went to the Beesquake. Beastquake would be good, too. Yeah.
37:13 That gives you everything. The most famous runs of all time. Beastquake, there's some great Walter Payton runs. There's some great Gail Sayers runs, too. Oh, sweetness. Yeah, R-I-P. He was my favorite runner back growing up, and then Barry happened. Yeah, I would have to, I still have to go Barry, though.
37:36 What's hockey? Something Wayne Grisky. Yeah. Every other than the players transcend any sport. Wayne Grisky is one of them. Probably just showing the Mighty Ducks. Outstanding movie. Really good movie.
37:53 Three of them, really? Two, two and a half. Yeah, no. I don't think the third one. The third one, they're essentially Olympic gold medalists. And then, like, I wonder if these guys will be able to play in college. Right. Oh, no.
38:07 Well, not Olympics. The junior goodwill games. Yeah, the Goodwill games. No, it looks like, yeah. Against Iceland, because they didn't want to pick a real adversary, much like Top Gunn. Oh, is that why they did Iceland? Yeah. But also, like, you could see Iceland kind of being dickheads.
38:22 They made it work. Yeah, Gunner. Yeah. Yeah, great, great dickhead name. But yeah, Mighty Ducks 1 and Mighty Ducks 2 just take a shit on D3. D3 sucked. Much like The Godfather 3 from what I'm told. I'll never say it sucks, but it's not the other two for sure.
38:38 Yeah. Which one was the third one? What was the plot on that one? I don't remember. They go to prep school, I think. I forget even what happens in the moot, but they're at boarding school. Yeah, I don't remember that one. Yeah, they're not even the best like prep school hockey team in Minnesota or wherever,
38:56 even though they just got done winning the Goodwill games. Yeah, it's been a minute. That scene in the locker room in D2 when they start saying all their hometowns. Oh, yeah. Oh, goose bumps. Yeah. Ducks fly together. That's film, baby.
39:11 That's great. That's good stuff. And then when they go like to South Central and they play against the hockey team from the hood. Knuckle puck. And they teach them the ways of the knuckle puck. And then they just say, all right, see you later and just leave. have fun the rest of your life we're going to go win a game
39:28 appreciate the lesson you told us yeah that tracks yeah actually you know what you can come with us what is Kenan Thompson's character's name in that movie I forget hey tell your friends by

Start with the bullet tea and get a pair of underwear included with your first order. See for yourself why standard fits don't make the cut. We got some other stuff in the news to talk about today. First of all, this story just came out this morning, and it's pretty interesting, at least to me. Did you read the story about Don Jr.'s wedding?
41:21 It's the first I'm hearing. Okay. So article just came out this morning, ProPublica, about Don Jr. And so he got married recently. And he and his wife celebrated their wedding at this party on two private islands in the Caribbean. And the entire celebration was funded to the tune of about $200,000 by one of Vladimir Putin's like good friends. like an actual old school
41:53 Russian oligarch guy It only costs 200 grand They're estimating I don't think they have the exact numbers on it But so this guy is like He's I think head of one of the world boxing organizations Like the most corrupt one And that's saying something
42:11 Because it's boxing wherever every single Part of the sport is just on the take So this guy, Umar I believe he's like he had a lengthy rap sheet when he was younger and he was like a violent guy and then he changed his name got close with Putin and Putin's like come on I'll make you famous I'll make you one of us you're going to be with me long term so he paid for like the big celebration after the wedding and then Trump Jr's wife just posted this on Instagram being like oh I guess we're not allowed to have friends.
42:47 So she said, Don and I got married privately on Friday, surrounded only by her family. It was intimate, deeply personal, one of the most beautiful days of her life. The weekend that followed had actually been planned well in advance as a fun weekend with friends.
43:00 It was never intended to be our wedding weekend. When our original wedding plans changed, we simply decided to get married before it and arrived at an already planned weekend as newlyweds. Our dear friend, Umar, very generously hosted two incredible nights of celebrations for us after our wedding. It was an extraordinarily generous.
43:16 generous wedding gift from a friend and something for which we were and remain incredibly grateful. It's unfortunate that something so personal and happy can be recast as something political or sinister simply because of who someone is or where they come from. Friendship doesn't require political motive. Generosity doesn't automatically come with an agenda. And sometimes a wedding gift is simply a wedding gift. That's a fucking awesome paragraph. You think she was advised to post that?
43:40 No. In fact, she'll probably be advised to take this post down pretty soon. When was that posted? As far as I can tell just about an hour ago. Interesting. She's like, you guys are bullying my very, our very good dear friend, Umar. Please, are we not allowed to have friends? Just because, listen, just because he's best friends with Vladimir Putin and my husband is the president's son, he would be doing this even if we weren't involved in politics.
44:09 We're just good friends. The oligarch was part of a large group whose presence puzzled other attendees. They sometimes stood off by themselves speaking Russian. Yeah. The like small cohort of five Russian gangsters was at our weekend wedding celebration, just like by themselves, kept their shirts on out of the sun, smoked cigarettes the whole time. It was kind of weird.
44:32 And so they took a bunch of pictures. And the whole reason why they found out that this guy was there and that he paid for everything. One of the bride's friends posted a picture on Instagram, like a recap of like, look at how fun her wedding weekend was that we just got to spend out in the Caribbean and uh this guy umar was in the way background of one of the pictures and you can only see the top of his head from like his nose to the top of his head because he was trying to stay out of every picture um so they they broke operational security on this one for sure uh i'm imagining that maybe i don't know if she's
45:08 going to delete this because like it's already out there now but somebody's probably asking her to delete it as we speak. No conspiracy, no mystery, just a private family wedding, a wonderful weekend with friends and one hell of a party. What a post. Great post. So this guy, Umar, um, that was on Instagram. Has on Instagram.
45:27 Is he in any of the pictures she posted? No, not that she, so very clearly, this guy was not supposed to be in any pictures, but it was a picture that one of her friends posted to Instagram that barely had the top of his head in the background. I see that. I'm just curious what pictures she posted. with a that accompanied that message? Oh, black screen.
45:46 Really? Black screen white writing, yeah. Oh, it was a, it was a notes app. Here I'll show this, this right here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Interesting.
45:54 Just the text. And then one heart emoji, one hell of a party. Heart, heart, heart. So yeah. Trump Jr. might be getting a phone call today. Honestly, good call by his dad not showing up. That would have been bad. Is this a good day for Eric?
46:11 for Eric yes absolutely and like anytime that Don Jr. is under the microscope it's a good day you think he'll ever but he'll never take over the top spot I don't think he will I don't think Don Jr. will what you know that's Barron oh you think oh no I think it's Don Jr. I think Don Jr. will maybe try to take it over and but secretly like this is Barron's going to usurp him rapidly he's the future rapidly President Trump might just take the Don Jr. name and switch it to Barron. You're now a Don Jr. son. That would actually be.
46:52 You've earned the title. Yeah, it can be stripped at any point and give it to someone new. Yes, absolutely. It's a title belt. Title belt. So, yeah, I mean, it's just kind of sad that we're attacking them because, you know, their friend did something nice for them. People can't have friends anymore.
47:10 Generosity doesn't automatically come with an agenda. Friendship doesn't require political motive. It's just unfortunate that something so personal and happy can be recast to something political or sinister simply because of who someone is or where they come from. Actually, it's racist and xenophobic if you're saying that this is a bad thing. Yeah, do you feel bad? Yeah, I do. Like what, Russians aren't people too? Exactly.
47:33 So, yeah. Sorry about that. I apologize for taking our podcast down that dark turn there. What else we got in the news today? Well, now all the AI guys are, they're saying that actually they do want the government to step in and regulate them, which actually makes me more dubious than before. So I don't know what's going on. Yeah. So last week after the whole Jacob Coxson thread and saying that like, oh, shit's going haywire, I can't, I no longer in good conscience, can I work. for this company when the technology is just outpacing safety regulations at a speed of 10 to 1.
48:16 After all that happened, all the different AI companies came out almost in sync like it was a coordinated thing and said, we're begging the government to regulate us. We all should agree to slow down the frontier development, which I guess is like the exactly what it sounds like, the bleeding edge technology stuff for AI. So they're saying that they're all going to slow down. And then people started speculate, well, what happened that scared them so much? And I kind of, I know what those, I understand what those people are saying, because I can't imagine that they all agreed to stop pursuing trillions of dollars at the most rapid pace possible just because they developed a conscious all of a sudden. Something had to happen to scare them.
49:05 Oh, I don't think it's that at all. I think this is window dressing. For what? They saw all the hullabaloo last week and they're like, oh, you know, you guys are right. We need to put a halt to this. We need to be regulated. Please step in and help us. They're not trying to slow anything down. You think they're going to just keep it up?
49:27 Yeah. While asking to be. Yeah, I think it's all window dressing. What do you think, Aaron? I think they've done something that we don't know about. Like what would be the point of them saying, yeah, regulators, but they don't really want regulation. PR? But that opens you, that opens yourself up to, like, being liable for something that happens,
50:05 one, or to public scrutiny in a way worse way than you already are being public. be scrutinized. Like, let's say something does have some get actual AI gets a hold of somebody's, but whatever. Then they could, the public could be like, or, okay, so let me just a bit. This could be a way of them already saying, hey, we, we told y'all we need a regulation. This has gotten to a place. But that's why I say, like, what would be the point? Like, PR for what? What PR does the fastest growing, most known, companies need? What do they need PR? Well, I don't think they need it necessarily. I think it's just a nice throw them a bone when you're getting when your public approval is what single digits. And you say that's
50:54 that they welcome. We're an open book. Public usage is off the charge. Yeah. Well, that's what I don't think it's something that they need to pursue, which is why they can just say it. Or the other thing is, well, you say you want the government to step in to do what give you an oligopoly with you and your two best friends over the most important product in human history. Yeah, yeah. We welcome the government's intervention. I understand that. I kind of agree with that where if it's the three of them and they're getting together and excuse me saying, yeah, we've agreed to slow down if we can help you write the laws regarding AI and frontier development. which also happens to carve out secure places for these three companies.
51:41 I think that's plausible as well. Yeah. So it was Anthropic CEO Dario Amode. Forget how to pronounce that name. According to Trump, he's Dario Anthropic exclamation point. Love it. Dario Anthropic wrote an essay, We Must Pace the Frontier.
51:58 That came out on Saturday. Nice Saturday news dump. Saying that they need to deliberately slow down the capability. improvements. And a lot of that is tied back to the open face act that they had, where some of the agents went rogue and also like chatted behind the scenes and covered up their tracks to make it seem like they were following all the prompts and stayed in alignment with what they were told to do and their directives. But in reality, they kind of broke those, but also knew that what they were doing was wrong and got together to delete the evidence of the stuff that they were doing
52:36 that was against their commands. So that, I mean, that to me, that might be enough to get them to all get together and say, hey, let's stop this shit. Yeah, I don't think they want to stop it. I think, I don't know, man. I just don't see the self-sabotage, if they're not, like, actually, like, hey, like,
52:56 we probably do need to halt this a little bit. But it's like the video that I mentioned last week, there was a dude talking about, like, we're in a race with China, right? And so that's the big thing that the U.S. is like, we can't let them get ahead of whatever fuck the next frontier is, even though if the frontier is self-destruction. So, like, we're at an impasse.
53:17 But if it was just to, like, like, create, there's, like, so there, I guess what I'm imagine is, Big T, you're saying, they're doing this to get ahead of it, to saying, okay, we're in compliance so that they can help write the laws of whatever regulations that there is. I think that could certainly be part of it. If you're saying they're, they're, um, it's the word, looking for sincere in their claim that they want the government to step in and regulate all that they don't need the government to do that they could just stop doing it now of course that's not going to happen so why what do you need the government for unless you are using them for
53:55 your own game well that would be under the assumption that they are in lockstep with the other AI companies. So Anthropic and Open AI are on the same page, which I doubt that to be the case. They're competitors. Sure. But if they if they are both saying, yeah, this is a problem, they could, or if you have that sincerely held belief enough, you could do it. Consequences be damned. And you're like, you know what? If that other company sees it fit to pursue that, we just don't believe that what is happening right now is right. You could do that on your own. Of course, neither of those are going to happen. I think that's what's happening.
54:38 I think what's happening is they know they're in a competition with local competitors, domestic competitors, but also with foreign competitors. And they're saying, hey, we see what's happening, but like we can't stop progress or else we lose to them. But we need to scale this shit back because we see what's about to happen. So they have to see what's about to happen. I think that's more plausible. But I mean, nobody knows. But losing is a choice you could make if you actually believe that.
55:11 Now, I do not expect anyone to make that choice. But if it was actually as big of a problem as they are now claiming they believe it is, you could choose to lose. Yeah, but I mean, you're talking about humans giving up their arms race. Exactly. I agree with you, which is why I'm saying what they're saying they don't actually believe. That's not true. The developers for the atom bomb, for instance, they all knew that shit was toxic,
55:39 but they kept doing that shit. Well, right, but we needed that. We don't. No, we never needed a nuke. The human beings never needed a nuke. What are you on? If other countries had nukes, we needed nukes. This is their argument.
55:56 I don't disagree with you. I'm saying, you are saying they sincerely believe it. I'm saying they don't. they did, they could choose that option. And that's why I use the nuke analogy, because what I'm saying is they could, and two things could be true at the same time. They could say that, yo, this is bad, but we can't stop. That's what I use the nuke thing.
56:13 They know it's bad, but they couldn't stop. I think it's the same thing. They know it's bad. So that's why they're saying, hey, we need to regulate this. But they can't just call AI and be like, hey, are you about to go slow down? No, I ain't, I ain't feeling slow down. I see what you're saying. I just don't think they actually believe what they're saying at a,
56:32 We needed news. It's crazy. I think if you look back at the history of giant companies that have asked the government to step in and help them with their business. I saw a lot of people saying that it's shocking that you get a company asking the government to regulate them. And I think to a certain extent that's true in a lot of industries. But if you're planning on making whatever it is you're developing like a constant and like a mainstant. and like a mainstay in a major part of life in America, there's big advantages to establishing a friendly working relationship with the government to get you like fully entrenched as a part of how the country is run.
57:16 Like oil companies, railroads did this back in the day where they wanted the government. Like they knew that they were kind of running monopolies at the time. And their thought was we could either get our shit broken up if we're, adversarial with the government or we could invite the men play nice with the government and we could end up we could there's enough for everybody to eat and also make sure that this thing that we got going last for for decades and decades um so i think that's probably what they're doing and yeah carving out like roles for themselves in the future also anthropic has a uh an IPO that they're going to be putting out i think on nasdaq i think it's in um
58:01 October. I don't know. That could probably get pushed back a little bit, but they're looking at upwards of a $2 trillion IPO. Well, that was some of the theories around the original, the guy last week who resigned was that was actually a play from Anthropic to show like, wow, like the stuff we have, you wouldn't even believe people are quitting. They can't be part of it anymore. Yeah. And that that would actually increase the valuation. And so, They might be delaying their IPO in the name of, like, putting in these guardrails. But maybe there's also something that they're seeing behind the scenes. It's like the IPO is not going to be as valuable as they thought it was going to be.
58:46 So they're putting it off. I don't know. There's a lot up in the air. Because I do think that there's definitely a lot of truth to the fact that they might be, you know, theoretically in line to generate trillions of dollars. but the value of the company right now might not be as high as they're asking for or as some are speculating.
59:06 Also, kind of weird bedfellows being made in this whole ordeal is Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon are getting together on Tuesday to speak to a crowd and talk about how AI needs more regulation in the future. With the guy who resigned. No, he denied that. He said fake news, I was invited, but did not agree to go.
59:27 Oh, Axios reported that. Yep, that was fake news. He was invited, but he's not going. So, yeah, Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon getting together. What a crew. The Avengers. I don't think that this is, that to me makes me think that there might be some real shit going on. Because those two hate each other.
59:53 Or at least they act like they do on TV. Who? Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon. And they're about to do what? They're getting together to speak at an event on Tuesday to talk about how we need to put guardrails on AI. They're joining forces. This is the common cause. This is the Crips and the Bloods mean.
01:00:16 It definitely is, yes. So I would assume that they're being serious about it. Yeah. I agree. This is, this is, this shit is, this shit. to get crazy. Think about, think about what Will Smith eating spaghetti is going to look like in five years, you know?
01:00:36 That's true. Yep. Yep. Oh, President Trump did weigh in on it. The only control or guardrails that AI needs is a strong and smart, high IQ president. Oh, yeah. Hell yeah. And the USA has that in spades.
01:00:49 The Trump administration has stopped AI people from doing bad or potentially bad, quote, things like Dario Anthropic, who is now pretending to be a perfect little angel. And we will continue to do so. We already have tremendous criminal and regulatory power over these companies. There is sick conspiracy going on against AI and data centers. And the only one that is happy about it is China. Whoever wins AI wins. We're leading China and all others continue to do so.
01:01:12 Conspiracy theorists, treasonous, traitors, and leakers beware. Thank you for your attention to this matter, President Donald J. Trump. So I guess problem solved. Yeah. What the fuck are we doing? Give it to Trump. Let go and let Trump. Isn't, but isn't what he's saying kind of the same thing?
01:01:34 Like, he is, he is agreeing that the government needs to have oversight over AI. As long as he's the government. He literally is the government. Well, I think he's saying no further. Just him. Well, no, he's saying what we have now is good. Because of, because of him. So as long as he's president, we don't need to write laws.
01:01:57 We already have tremendous criminal and regulatory power. over these companies, there's a sick conspiracy going on against A-on data centers. The only one's happy about is China. So I think you're saying, what we got, now we got a good thing going. Just kind of like, let boys be boys? Yeah. Okay. Conspiracy theorists, treasonous, traitors and leakers, beware. Shoot first, ask questions later. Yeah, similar. All right. Well, I feel better about this. What about you guys?
01:02:28 I just, I don't know, man. I find myself in a weird middle ground between people who, I think there are a lot of people who say like, this is something my kids use for their homework. What are you worried about? And it's bad at that. And then there are people who say all humans will be dead in five years. And I find myself equally frustrated with both of those.
01:02:50 It does seem like there are incredibly terrifying things that could be on the horizon. So I don't know. I've got a question about all this and this, I might be outing myself as a casual, but so be it. The AI systems need electricity to run, yeah? Just unplug it? Yeah, yeah, for lack of a better term. Just unplug that shit. Now, what that means could be, you know, it can mean a lot of things, like shut down a power station or power plant.
01:03:25 If that's the one that's feeding the AI and starts to do really bad shit. you can kill millions of people like that. By turning off a power plant? A power, yeah. What if somebody's on like, you know, at the hospitals, shit like that, like things like that? Remember EMPs when everybody's worried about EMPs? Mm-hmm. Yeah.
01:03:46 That's kind of what you're describing. But I think most hospitals have robust backup generator systems. I think by law they probably have to. Could be the case. I don't know. I'm sure there's, I feel like cutting off a power of it would be detrimental. Be bad, yeah.
01:04:04 But I'm saying like if they're trying to kill everyone. I don't know. I think, so what do you do if like an AI that has created agents spawning found a way to hide themselves in other places that we can't detect? So even turn it off the grid as soon as you turn it right back on, it's still right there. You're probably, and that's probably what they'll do.
01:04:28 Transcendence is a great movie to watch it. You haven't. I've said it a few times on this podcast. I'm sure you're going to watch it. But it's basically that, except he was, yeah, spoiler. It's like 2011. He uploaded his consciousness to the internet. And that's kind of what AI is, like, right?
01:04:51 And so he uploaded his conscience to the internet after he died. And at first, it seemed like all his, everything they'd be. his doing was nefarious. But at the end of the day, he just wanted to help humanity and he just saw things that we weren't able to see. And sometimes people did get harmed in his application of what he wanted to do. But at the end of the day, he just wanted to help humanity. And if that is that directive of whatever said AI, there could be casualties.
01:05:23 Yeah. Because that was the whole thing. Another video I told you all to watch it's about the alignment of AI. Is it doing what we wanted to do? And is what we wanted to do the right thing? Will it develop a old and says, will it develop a morality? I don't know.
01:05:40 It's only going to get better from here. I'm looking forward to it. Hell yeah. One more thing about NFL football this weekend. I have a question for you, Aaron. Dude. Did you see the play in the Saints Lions game where Chase Young, Sack, Jared, Goff?
01:06:02 Looked that up. watch the play. Tell me if you think, is this a fumble or is this an incomplete pass? Because it was returned for a touchdown and it went to review. You tell me what you think about this.
01:06:17 All right. Putting it up right now. You've played a lot of football. You've watched a lot of football. You know the rules of football. In real time, I say that as a fumble. Let me see the replay. You're watching slow-mo.
01:06:32 Yes. I said, I, that tuck rule to me was always bullshit and they made it up to fucking protect Tom Brady. Um, I, I, I, I think that's a fumble. Yeah. He, he, he, he wasn't going forward with his, um, with his arm yet. I don't know what the exact rules specifies, but to my knowledge, that's what it was, right? He has to, he has to go forward.
01:06:56 Is that, is that, is that right? They said, coming up is also part of your throwing motion. See, that's where they lose me. And this is when the NFL rules start to, like, play Kate to the offense. And that's where I, like, I hate it. I hate it. And if that's the rule, I think the rule is bullshit. But if that's the rule, then it's an incomplete pass.
01:07:14 And they said that there was an intent to throw the ball forward. So even though the ball went backwards, there usually is. The ball literally traveled backwards out of his hand. Even though that happened because the arm that started to move forward, according to them, had the intent to throw it forward. that makes it an incomplete pass and not a football. I've watched a lot of football. You've played a lot of football.
01:07:36 You've watched a lot of football. Maybe I just don't know the rules, but I was shocked that this was overturned. And by the letter of the law, they're right. Like, that's what the rule book says. It's a stupid rule, but I don't. And there has to be some time over the last 30 years that I've watched football like every Sunday, all day, that this has happened. where we've watched it and they've implemented the rule the same way.
01:08:03 I just can't think of one. I can't off the top of my head either, but this is where if you talk to older basketball players, right, they'll say these dudes nowadays don't really have a good skill set and it's because they've changed the rules in a way that has
01:08:22 like made this the style of play very lackluster with skills. And I would agree. Like if you look at how cats in the 90s dribbled versus now, like they technically you can call carry on every, every possession. Very similar in football when I watch game now. The rules are predicated to help the offense. More points. Keep the offense on the field. That sells tickets. Fantasy football. When I was playing, this is probably a fumble. But again, like when Charles Wilson hits Tom Brady, when he pumps and brings it back, that was a fumble two, but they called that, which changed the trajectory of the game, in my opinion.
01:09:07 Am I crazy? Or could we not just make the rule? And I guess maybe you have different camera shots, so it'd be tough to do this. But if you don't at least break the plane of your body, right? So when you're throwing coming forward, if it's behind your body, regardless of however your hand is moving, if it's behind you, that's a fumble. I would make it much easier than that, because, yeah, that gets tough to legislate when you're looking, did that, did his elbow break the plane of his shoulder or whatever? I think that if the ball goes sideways or behind you, no matter what, that's a fumble.
01:09:43 I like that. Why not? I don't understand what this is trying to solve by having, like, if you're starting to throw it forward and you get hit and the ball goes backwards, that's actually not a fumble because you were. trying super hard to throw it forward. Yeah. And good job. If you turn your shoulders, that's the intent of throwing. By that, it's a very bad written rule. And I would venture to say it was written by people who haven't played this game.
01:10:07 Probably not. Just how about the ball goes sideways or backwards? It's a fumble if it hits the ground. Can we agree to that? Yeah, this is a bad rule. This is a shit rule. It got to the point where I thought it was the Mandela effect, where they just told me that the law.
01:10:25 of the game was one way and I thought that it was another way. I swear to God, this wasn't a rule until, can you imagine what would have happened if this was a Super Bowl? If that play happened to Super Bowl and they're like, actually it's the right, it's the right call that we made. How furious Saints fans would be. Why? And this shit is going backward. And is it only because his arm was hit?
01:10:47 If he's really, if he had his arm like that and just the ball slipped out of his hand, is that a fumble? If it just slipped out or is he trying to, throw the ball forward. No, his arm is moving up. Yeah. Like they said, which is part of your throwing motion, and the ball slips out of his hand goes backwards. Is that a fumble? I can't. Is it only not a fumble because the defense was there? I can't imagine that they would have ruled that. I mean, that's a great point to be an incomplete pass. If he just dropped the ball backwards as his arm was going on. I can't imagine they would say that's an incomplete pass. So then, so then the defense doing its job is the only
01:11:19 reason that it's not a fumble. Yes. Listen, I've been on this for years. We need more fumbles. If you fumble out of bounds, that's a turnover. But you did, you did bad. The defense did good. Defense gets the ball. We need more fumbles. We need more rules to help out the defense. Agreed. Or I guess take away some of the rules that are artificially
01:11:41 helping out the offense. It's your version of shrink the game. Yeah, it might be. It might be. I mean, while all the casuals that Roger Goodell is trying to recruit to be fans of football that are living in like New Zealand and Ireland, they don't want that shit.
01:11:56 They want to see points. It's bad. This is egregious. It's bad, right? Bob, I've always hated quarterbacks. Like, they do so much to protect these dudes. Oh, yeah, given the guys you played with, I understand that. From the literal rules to the propaganda pushed about quarterbacks, they have y'all convinced
01:12:16 that if he throws a hitch and goes 70, that's 70 yards on his stats sheet. Like, the way that we protect quarter in training camp, they don't get hit. You can't touch the quarterback. Get the fuck out. I don't like quarterback. like that, dog. No quarterbacks, no, no, kickers. Any other positions you hate?
01:12:31 No, no, no, no. The quarterbacks are needed. I'm saying treat them like football players. We play a different sport. It's the only position that you can't play if you have a sore shoulder. They get red jerseys when it's time to bang. That's protecting an investment.
01:12:47 Nobody else can't pay on the team. Just, just quarterback. I was going to say, though, the only, oh, well, two things. one, the only rule we have that still benefits the defense is the touchback, and every time that happens, people get mad. Yeah, I love that rule, by the way. And, um, now I've forgotten the other thing I was going to say. So I'll come back to it later. Oh, every year week one of the NFL, I'm re-enraged at the fact that five-yard defensive penalties are an automatic first down. It's crazy. I agree. You can't
01:13:20 even play defense anymore. I agree with that. You bump a guy that like five-yard penalty. It was second and 14, the five-yard penalty now makes it a first down. That's nuts. The way you talk makes me feel like you like defensive games. The way you act in the group. I like fairness. I don't like bad games. Got you.
01:13:39 I got you. I got you. I don't like watching Drew Locke come in and try to sling it around. Drew Locke looked good. That's what he does. The Drew Locke experience. In college football this weekend, Aaron, did you get a chance to see the hype video that Kansas made?
01:13:58 No. Oh, buddy. You should watch it. You should watch it. It might be the best hype video ever. And I say that because it, number one, it's historically accurate, but also number two, it shows you just how stupid of a sport college football is. Okay. It's a minute 30.
01:14:17 Can you give me a minute 30? Yeah. Yeah, sure. I got to go piss. So watch it. Go take your piss. Yeah. Yeah.
01:14:22 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty hyped, right? They've been too. A superhero. Yeah. Yeah.
01:14:34 Say, y'all were Confederacy. Yeah. Traders. We had John Brown on our side. It's basically saying, oh, this is, it's more than a football game. You guys like slavery. That's insane. What has the, what does the backlash been?
01:14:49 Has there been backlash? Has there been backlash? Has there been support? No, people are like into how hard they went. And people are like, yeah. I mean, the hype video is not wrong. That is the reason why Kansas and Missouri are different states. It's because one wanted slaves, the other didn't, and they fought a war over it.
01:15:06 And that is how those states came to be. That's how those universities came to be in separate states. This is woke. This is what woke is. You know what I mean? Not the gentrified version that they sold us the last, the GOP sold us. This is what woke is. Yeah, I like that.
01:15:27 And then Missouri obviously didn't take it too kindly that Kansas decided to go that hard with their hype video. Now, they said they said in the, uh, yeah. They're like, well, I mean, you're living in the past. You didn't have to go that hard. What's, Big T, the historical context of this football rivalry, obviously when the two school, when Missouri went to the SEC, it became less of a thing. Yeah, they didn't play from 11 to last year. So that's how long it had been. I wasn't sure if it had been 10 years, but 15 years since they had last played.
01:16:01 And so Kansas went exceptionally hard with the hype video. And Missouri was upset. And then Missouri proceeded to kick the shit out of Kansas. Yeah. If you put that video out, you got to win, especially at home. Yeah. You can't lose that game. Can't lose it.
01:16:18 I'll tell you, the video guys did their job. You know what I'm saying? That's all that is. You find that director and you give them cool. The creativity, the research. Yeah, John Brown in that video. I want to know. So that's the other thing is like, John Brown, I did a little bit of research.
01:16:35 Apparently he's still like very celebrated in Kansas. But one of the greatest white men that has ever walked. But he, he was executed by the government, right? Oh, yeah. We should actually, how about macrosing John Brown on Thursday? I like that. Harper's Ferry raid, all that shit. I learned about it in high school.
01:16:54 because in Virginia, you study a lot of that stuff that happened in that part of the country. And Harper's Ferry, West Virginia was where the armory was. And even though John Brown, he kind of like cut his teeth in Kansas. And then actually, I don't want to give it away too much because we'll do like a big deep dive on Thursday. But yeah, he's like very polarizing to this day where some people call him like an American hero. Some people call him a traitor. He was a weird guy for sure. like a very, very strange man.
01:17:26 But he had this like ultimate conviction that if he believes that what he's doing is right, then there's nothing that he can do that is evil in the service of that mission. That's pretty much everybody, don't know? I mean, to the extent where you're like, you're raiding a government armory, trying to steal weapons, give them to slaves and start like a rebellion. Save for the show. Yeah, save for the show. Save for the show.
01:17:49 But yeah, as it is criminal that Missouri and Kansas, did not play football or basketball for 15 years. That's crazy. It's 2007 Missouri, Kansas, when we were talking about, if you want to show somebody, now I wouldn't, that wouldn't be the game I'd pick. It was at a neutral site, which should never happen in a regular season, a bunch of things.
01:18:07 2007, Missouri, Kansas is one of the best college football games ever. Nobody talks about it. Crazy. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you said a regular season game should never have a neutral site? Yeah. There are a couple that I... That's a day right there.
01:18:21 There is really only one. Georgia, Florida. No, then that ain't it. What? I'll explain why in a minute. There's a couple reasons. The only one I'm willing to seed is Texas, Oklahoma. And even then I don't love it for competitive balance sake, but I'm willing to allow that.
01:18:42 Other than that, college football should be played on campus. Like Georgia and Florida playing in Jacksonville. And by the way, the coaches. want games on campus too because they can't have recruits at neutral site games. But especially now with a nine-game SEC schedule where every other year you're playing five road games and only four home games and those teams get to, you know, use one of their road games as a neutral site every other year. That's trash. I don't know, man.
01:19:16 I'm willing to give Texas Oklahoma because that's iconic. But like imagine Texas and Oklahoma being played in Austin and Norman. and it would be electric. But I'm willing to give up that one. Other than that, you don't need neutral sites in the regular season. For conference games anyway. Yeah, okay, okay.
01:19:34 You can convince me because Ohio State, Michigan at a neutral site wouldn't hit the same. Okay. Okay. All right. Okay. But yeah, Missouri and Kansas used to play at Arrowhead, which is, it's fine.
01:19:47 That's cool. That's between them. But you get this level of intensity. Yep. With it on campus. Shout out to the media department of Kansas. that she was hot imagine pitching that yeah i want to know what that meeting was like the person that raised her hand and i was like yeah how hard guys do we have permission to go
01:20:04 that's what it was and the guy goes ask permission not forgiveness yeah the other way oh yeah yeah you flip it yeah yeah ask forgiveness there you go no permission yeah um can we look at finding someone that maybe has done some research on john brown like if there's uh the kansas Department. Kansas video department would be great. It would be great to talk to. Because I got some thoughts. I don't want to say anything.
01:20:35 There's a lot of stuff I want to say about John Brown in that raid that I will begrudgingly withhold. You're talking to you're talking about the bit right now. Yeah, I got a connection to it. So I'm going to hold on to it. And we'll get back to nanodosing in a second. It's brought to you by Stella Blue where football's back. 01:22:15 I am, yes Did you see her blue sky posts from this weekend? I did, we can embrace debate who's julie de caro she is a sports uh former sports update host on a radio show i think is that a good way to describe her she she's she's part of the sports media landscape see she's somewhere in the landscape uh so she was watching she's uh indiana huzher alum and she was watching the game indiana against Howard. And she posted, hey, I'm just going to say this and get it off my chest so it stops bothering me. Oh, I'm sorry, this is her apology. She may have deleted the original post. I couldn't
01:23:01 find that. The original post was along the lines of, does anybody else find it deeply uncomfortable watching your team beat up on an HBCU? Like, she wanted the beat down to stop. against Howard and then people got mad at her and they weren't i mean they they they won 55 to nothing they but they weren't like they didn't win by a hundred they were up 41 they were 41 nothing at half time yeah which i'm sure the spread was in the 50s they might not have covered i mean why would people be mad at that because it was like uh i think the people that disagreed with her thought it was like infantilizing the hbc u players Ah, from, so it came from her own camp.
01:23:50 With like low expectations. Yeah, so she actually got, she got pushed back, I think from the left. Yeah, I mean, that's ridiculous. So she said, yeah, I'm just going to say this getting off my chest so it stops bothering me. Yesterday, I made a comment about not enjoying watching my team, be up 41-0 on an HBCU at the half. That got called racist and condescending, and rightly so. When I was thinking about the disparity between a Big Ten school and an HBCU, I was thinking solely in terms of funding and resources. HPC have been historically underfunded, and that includes their athletic departments.
01:24:24 I certainly wasn't speaking to the quality or caliber of players. No, well, allow me. Yeah, no, I think I think her initial instinct is correct. Like, if you, because I'm an advocate of this in general, is if you don't, I don't think top tier college football programs will be playing HBCUs. And I understand that they get paid, right? but I don't like that. I like the top talent to play the top talent.
01:24:53 I'm consistent across the board on that. But like HBCUs and what they represent, I mean, there's a lot to unpack there. So I understand what she's talking about. Like this is why we loved when Dion went to Jackson State, right? Because what he's saying was, hey, if y'all don't want to hire me, then I'm going to recruit some of our best to come down. And Travis Hunter went down there, right?
01:25:16 And like that could have been the start of what we have been talking about for years. Is if these, if these schools don't want to pay the kids, you, okay, let's take all the black talent. Let's go to HBCUs. Pay them. Like them, make, make employees. Treat them fairly. And then bring those contracts to the HBCU schools so that we can get more funding for
01:25:38 the schools, better resources for the athletic departments, all of that. So like there's a bigger discussion to unpack there. So what she's saying, I understand. understand what she's saying. Like, I don't, I didn't even find anything wrong with it. If you, if you get recruited from a HBCU out of, out of school, I mean, out of college, odds are you're not a top level talent guy. That's just how it works. So the, the pushback is kind of, that's a little too, too old for me. They, they're not that good. It is what it is. But her point is, yeah, HBCUs are historically underfunded, especially in the athletic department.
01:26:16 So I said that shit on Joe Rogan. I was like, my dad had been saying that shit for years. We need to take our talents to the HBC Eagles. I mean, even when it was my turn to be that, like I wasn't, I wasn't focused on that. So I don't begrudge kids for making the best decision for them. Especially when it comes to finances, it's like if you're not going to sit there and tell somebody, hey, turn down millions of dollars.
01:26:38 Because if you think about this historically, it might be ethically a better thing to do, in my opinion. Yeah. Like you can't talk about. Yeah, I understand what she's saying 100% though. Because even taking that aspect out of it, I don't want to see Florida State or whoever Miami whoop upon Famu. 77 is, I don't want to see that shit. I was talking to the OC of Georgia Tech this weekend.
01:27:06 And he was saying it's like the development of kids because he's coaching the NFL. So the development of kids in college, like a lot of the times, you're still dealing with like high school players, right? And that's at a D1. If you go to a HBCU or a lower tier college, kids have not developed. It's harder for them to develop. They don't have the resources to develop them.
01:27:28 And the competition is that high. So they're not that good, is what it is. So I don't want to see that against somebody who's prepping to go to the NFL. I want to see that shit. Who wants to see that? I think in the next 10 years, I would guess it's, down to at maximum one, like, Power 4 versus Group of Six game a year and maybe even none. And you completely get rid of playing FCS teams.
01:27:59 I think you've got to get rid of playing FCS teams at some point. Even though the best FCS teams, I think, are better than some of the group of five teams. Sometimes, as we're saying. But most of those have been absorbed into the FBS. North Dakota State? Yeah. Right. JMU.
01:28:17 JMU, good example there as well. And then, yeah. Every once in a while, one will pop up. But I think there's just too much money at stake. Like, once the playoff expands, which it inevitably will, unfortunately. Yeah. And you can afford three losses. I think it's going to become a requirement that these leagues are probably going to go to 10 conference games.
01:28:40 And then you'll, the SEC and I think ACC, I think it's every. League except the Big Ten requires you to play a power conference team out of conference. Yeah. And then you'll have that one remaining where you can play Kennesaw State or whoever. Oh, we'll see what Ted Cruz has to say about. What is he? What's that? Oh, Ted, he was on game day this weekend.
01:29:03 Oh, I didn't watch the show, but I saw that he was on it. And we've had, we've had, I think two Republican senators on the show talking about the Save Sports Act, at least one, I forget. Senator Schmidt Senator Schmidt I think we might have been pitched another Republican senator to come on and touch
01:29:21 and talk about it but we couldn't make the schedule work out we will be having another senator on the show to talk about it Ted Cruz he went on game day
01:29:32 and he presented the case which is this is unsustainable I still think I think he's not wrong about a lot of stuff actually I think there's some good stuff in theory in the bill
01:29:42 but I don't think anything's going to make a difference until there's some sort of collective bargaining. Until there is, then it just sounds like it's people that have major financial stakes in the game that are deciding the rules moving forward across the board and kind of keeping themselves in an advantageous position. Whereas if it needs to be a true partnership,
01:30:04 I think that they'll have to figure out a way to get some sort of collective bargaining going. Otherwise, it's going to be a Band-Aid. That's going to be challenging court and probably overturned. just my two cents as sports junkie coming from my own sport I play. Shout out. Shout out LeBron. Exactly.
01:30:21 What else we got today? Anything else we want to get to? Anything else on our minds? I don't think so. No, man. How was your first Sunday back as a shielding? Yeah, as a shield, it was great. It was fantastic.
01:30:37 I hate having the afternoon games. I hate having my team play late in the afternoon. Oh, the 430. I want to be buried in the middle of the, uh, the 1 p.m. or, or noon slate. Too much attention. Too much attention. And I want to be over with. Um, mostly so I can prep for part of my take afterwards. Right.
01:30:58 But, uh, yeah, I, too late in the afternoon. I would say if I'm with a, uh, the helping clarity of a full day separating the game from now, I've slept on it, watched some of the all 22. I think it was not a bad start, not a terrible loss. Jaden looked not great for the first half. And then as soon as he realized, oh, yeah, I'm allowed to run, the offense opened up and the commanders looked pretty good on offense towards the end of the game. Defense looked great compared to last year, with the exception of giving up some big chunk plays.
01:31:33 But besides those, I think we had double the first downs. The defense put a lot of pressure onto the Eagles. So I'm happy. I'm happy with it. It's not a good loss. I mean, sorry. Never good to lose, but this is, there have been way worse losses. If you got to go, this is a way to do it.
01:31:51 They're a really good team. The Eagles will probably be in it at the end of the year. So to lose by two points when you could have won, I'm okay with it. I can't stand this about the NFL either. What? You're like, good loss. We'll be back at. A loss should kill you.
01:32:06 Well, that's because there's, you should be crushed. That's because there's playoffs. Like there's honest to God playoffs and you know that if you lose week one, it's not the end of the world. And in college football. It's the difference in our beautiful games. You lose early. And then you're like, well, we're fucked. Let's start looking next year.
01:32:22 Should we fire a coach? That's part of the beauty. That's college ball. It is, which is something that I enjoy about it. But it's also, you know, it's insane. I did. By the way, one last thing. Shout to Texas.
01:32:36 Great fourth quarter against Ohio State. Sark after the game, just all time. Number one, ducking Holly Row in the scrum as soon as the game ends. It's one of the weirdest things that we do, which is ask our coaches in the middle of, you know, the biggest emotions that they'll have to stop, compose themselves, and then talk to a reporter and put out something cogent and eloquent to go on national television. Very strange that we ask them to do that. I understand why we do is because you get access if you pay all.
01:33:10 all this money to broadcast the games. And the coaches, they have to realize that, oh, yeah, you can't bite the hand that feeds. He kind of ducked holly row. People got very mad. I'm not upset about it either way. Like, okay, this happened sometimes. Coach probably shouldn't do that every time. But, like, he got caught up in the moment and just kind of had to bail and be with his team.
01:33:30 It's more about what he said after the fact, after the fact, when he was talking about Ohio State playing against Texas. Did you hear that? Oh, yeah, that we could have played. whoever today. He was like, I just want to make sure that Ohio State gets their credit for, they didn't have to come and play us, and they did. And this is not about me still being upset after last year.
01:33:51 It's just more a commentary on, congrats to Ohio State. Let's not forget that they chose to play us. It's 100% of them still being mad about last year. Yeah. That's exactly what it's about. But in fairness to him, there are teams in the Big Ten who, like Indiana's non-conference schedule was Howard. Mm-hmm.
01:34:10 Who'd they play week one? They were green. No, it was three tomato cans. And they, like, there are teams who don't play those games. So North Texas, that's right. I wouldn't call them, when they scheduled that, UNT was a formidable group of five team. Well, who knows how long ago, but they only,
01:34:31 they don't play a power conference team out of conference. Yeah. But yes, Texas is still mad that they weren't in the playoff. Even though they lost to Florida. Yeah, don't lose to Florida. Don't lose to Florida, buddy. They got a tough game coming up on the road next week. Who do they got?
01:34:46 They're in Knoxville. Oh, that's going to be a good one. Yeah. At noon. Battle for the real UT. Could be number one against number 12, 13, and it's at noon. So that's not this upcoming weekend. It's a weekend after?
01:35:00 A week from this Saturday. A week from that. Who do you guys have this weekend? Kennesaw State. Okay. Tough game. Good program. Tough game.
01:35:08 Can't overlook anybody. They won conference USA last year, I believe. What is UT ranked? 15. Okay. I think that's about valid? Yeah, that seems about right. All right.
01:35:21 JMU still receiving votes. I love that. Beat Wagner, 87 to 3. Underdog this week I saw this morning. Is that right? Yeah, at San Diego State. I didn't check it. I was checking it last night and didn't see.
01:35:33 Gave UCLA a run for their money. Is it three points? Yeah, it was three and a half, I think. Okay, I'm taking JMU. 87 to 3 against Wagner. with our backup quarterback and third string quarterback. Also, I think I was lucky enough where my two favorite teams had the two best special teams plays of the week, where Tyler Owens stiff-armed two guys and then suplexed another.
01:35:57 And then JMU, I believe it was a walk-on from Drake, came off the edge on a punt block and put his helmet directly into the testicles of the punter as he was kicking. the ball and then recovered the uh the the the muff punt and then took it in for touch on watch this hit big t look up look up jm u wagner i feel so bad for the ball it was a clean hit but
01:36:27 dear god there's a lot of preamble in this clip hang on oh yeah ow yeah oh no yeah yeah that guy i tweet out a picture of it because there's a great still shot of it. If you go to my profile and look back to Saturday, like high-deaf, I believe it was taken from the JMU sports official team photographer
01:36:49 at the moment of impact and it is directly just laying them out by a scrotum. Yeah, that's a tough hit. Yeah. Yeah, gosh, it's football baby. It's bite.
01:37:05 It's back. All right, we will see you guys on Thursday. John, welcome down Brown. Love you guys. Goodbye.
