Hey everyone. Welcome back to the Mentioned All podcast. I am so thrilled to be here a little end of summer, early fall catch up with my friend Michelle Collins. Welcome back to the show. Dylan, I just called you my best friend. I meant it. Well, we've been together in multiple places. The last time I saw you was in Las Vegas. That's right for the Vanderpump Hotel opening, which I had a great time. I did too. I loved it. It was a very like funny experience, which is one of my favorite kinds where it was just like,
seeing the the like gaggle of people that they had assembled for that event.
And it was like, okay, so we're getting like Heather Dubrow in the elevator with Marciano from
Vanderpump Villa who was with Jesse from Mormon wives who brought her mom.
And it's like, sure.
Yep.
Why would they not be making small talk together?
Our friend Jen Fessler was there.
Jen was the one I was like Jen.
Because Jen is like a real girl actually.
And I was like, Jen help.
because we, they basically brought us behind the carpet area to walk the carpet.
And I was, and I was clearly bottom of the totem pole.
I'm not delusional.
Right.
I probably shouldn't have been there at all.
And they knew that.
And they were like, we need you to just wait outside until it empties out.
And I was like, I will do no such thing.
Are you kidding me?
I was offended.
I was like, I was on network TV for like nine whole minutes.
So I'm not going to move inside.
So I stayed in there with Jen and her husband.
And the people watching that, I was back there for probably two hours.
I mean, it was just gill to gill, bravo.
but like B tier.
Well, that's the thing.
At events like that where it's not like a, it's not a Bravo event.
It's not, uh, it's not like the most glitzy thing in the world.
Like it's not, you're not being invited to the Oscars.
It is always interesting to see like who's kind of in the pool because it's the same like,
when they do like film premieres in New York City, there's always kind of like, okay, we're getting like a,
we're getting like a Derinda maybe.
like you'll see a Jersey housewife kind of come through and it's like who is who's like excited at just like a reason to buy a dress and leave the house.
Okay, I'm right here.
Me and Constantine Maroulis, honey.
If you need someone at your premiere, text us.
If you were on American Idol.
I love him.
Justin Guarini.
Me.
Who else?
Ruben Stoddard.
Everybody's making their way through the carpet for the, no, because I'm actually friendly with, I won't like docs him here.
But there's a very lovely, gorgeous gentleman here in New York.
who runs a lot of the premieres.
And I think you may know him.
And he's genuinely, probably the handsomest man I know.
And he invites me every time he sees that I'm in New York, he be like, oh, we have this
thing.
And can I be honest?
It's the only reason I want to move back here is I'm like, but my premieres.
I love a premiere.
I love a carpet.
I love makeup.
To see a film.
I do.
I love films.
And I just honestly, not even meeting because I'm a terrible networker, but I'm a great
stand arounder because I love seeing everything happen.
And then talking about it on my show, the Michelle Collins.
show available everywhere and anywhere you listen to your podcasts. I'm a professional. Anyway,
but yeah, I just miss, I miss events. I love an event. Well, because the thing is,
like, I actually don't really like working a red carpet, like doing interviews or anything
like that because I'm like, I kind of just want to like see who's, see who's there,
observe, you know, I don't, I don't know. I'm on the fence about it because I, back in the day
when I worked at VH1, used to do carpets for them a lot. Okay. The thing that happens to me as an
extremely long armed. I always say my mic was an extra foot. All the mics were here. Mine was
like triumpte. She can reach. I mean, I was touching the step and repeat. I'm like, excuse me,
excuse you. Seeing who you hit. I have a six foot four inch wingspan. I'm six foot one.
That's amazing. It's called the ape index. Look that up. That's really fascinating. But anyway,
it's a lot of rock climbers have a very high ape index. I'm fascinated by that. Anyway,
where was I? Oh, carpets. Something happens to me where once I've been given like cart blanche
to talk to famous people, I start foaming at the mouth.
I become a rabbit animal.
I would never do it at a party, in a public setting ever.
I would never approach a celebrity.
But once you hand me the mic and put a little fence in front of me like Temple Grandin.
A stanchion.
Yeah.
Once you're like fun, because it is, if you've seen Temple Grandin, any Grandin heads in the room.
The animal husbandry.
Yes.
They pen you in like you're at the ASPCA.
I mean, they don't want you getting anywhere near these famous people.
Right.
once you've penned me in, and I've worked some big harbets, I've done the Vanity Fair,
Oscar party, which was incredible and like all these things.
I do miss doing it because you know what?
I'm not a crazy person because I'm professional, but I like to be funny with these famous
people and like break their shell a little bit.
I don't know if anyone's doing that.
And I don't actually, at this point, I've stopped fighting like, he's not going to hire
me.
It's fine, but I'm just, I need someone coming in with some, you know, energy.
Part of the problem too is like I've had the experience.
I remember I was at the book club two, the next chapter, premier.
This was like two or three years ago.
And I'm on the carpet, the little microphone, whatever, and Countess Luann is there.
And, you know, Luanne's great.
She sees me.
She knows who I am.
We're talking, whatever.
I'm like, you know, asking her whatever question.
She's yucking it up for the camera, having a great time.
And then, like, while you're talking to Countess Luan, you see, like, Jane Fonda get swept
inside. Diane Keaton, may she rest, swept inside. Candice Bergen is just drifting past it. It's like,
oh, oh, so we got a great sound bite from Countess Luann. And they bring Vern Troyer over. May he
rest in peace as well. But it's like nobody that's in the movie has noticed that I'm here.
Well, one time I think I was doing, I mean, again, this was it had to be 15 years ago, the
Critics Choice Awards. And I forget who I was just staying there trying to get people to come over.
That's also my trick was, for example, if Mark Wahlberg walked by, I'd be like, Mark,
I'm a Boston native.
I would just shout where they were from.
Be like, I'm a...
Go Patz.
Portland native, because they would get their attention, you know?
Yeah.
And it worked.
It really worked.
I don't want to give all my tricks away to the masses.
But one time I was standing there and it was just like Paul McCartney, Sandra Bullock.
And there's just video of me screaming these people's names.
Obviously, they did not come over.
Yeah.
Just be like, Paul, Paul, please.
I'm a Liverpool native.
Yes.
I'm a liverpudlian.
It's the most frantic and I don't even know how we got on this, but yeah.
out. It's fun, honestly, but it is truly bottom of the barrel. It will make you feel less than human by the end of it. It's really hard. I mean, it's not great. But finally, at the Vanderpump Hotel, you made it up to that roof. I know. And you got to watch, did you see the drone show? Did I see the drone show? How could I not? Jiggy in lights, a thousand feet above Vegas? I was like, am I high? What is happening here? It was amazing. I love, like, that's the thing about Vegas that it's just like, where else are you seeing the Vanderpump drone show above the
Caesar's palace. I have to say something, and I'm going to put my mug down to say this. I love
Las Vegas. And this is a really controversial thing. People are surprised when I say it because,
you know, look, I look like I'm running a cruise ship today. You know, I'm a little preppy today,
whatever. Thank you for laughing. One person I'll take it. There's two in the room. Anyway,
but there is something about Vegas. You can find anything you want. You want to see Cirque de Soleil,
great. You want to get wasted drunk and flash people. Good. Best place to go in Vegas. I'm going to
tell you my happiest place in the world.
Go.
What do you think?
I will say the one, I love the clip of Megan McCain on the view talking about how she would get the COVID vaccine if it was an iPod
nano stuck between her shoulder blade so she could be at Caesar's Palace tomorrow.
I don't remember that.
That's, I mean, God bless.
You go, sister.
Okay.
I haven't heard the words iPod Nano or Megan McCain in so long that I'm kind of like,
what decade am I?
And I shouldn't be talking.
But anyway, perhaps I'll see here at the reunion.
That's a joke for the room.
Okay, leave it in.
I literally do not care anymore, by the way.
Very liberating.
But, no, the best place in the world is at the Bellagio Hotel, which is gorgeous.
And, like, they have chihuli glass and they always have these big flower, like beagles and golden retrievers.
I mean, nothing makes sense there.
Sit at the bar, the Petrosian bar.
It's right in the lobby.
They have this old white guy sitting there and he's, you know, orange from the sun.
and he's playing piano in a way that is like tears streaming.
And there's this drunk couple that come there all the time.
And they go, play deline Sian.
Like they're hammer drunk.
They don't know what they're saying.
And the guy takes requests.
You can get a lemon drop, martini, whatever your drink is.
And watch the people coming back and forth with this music and your drink and the food.
To me, I don't know a happier.
It makes me giddy.
Like I come alive in that bar.
I love it.
You enter a flow state.
What's better?
What else could you want having a drink?
Then the music, the food, the freaks.
Are you a gambler at all?
Ish.
I didn't gamble this trip.
I hear in there a slot machine, but I have to be with the right crowd to do blackjack.
The slot, yeah, I can really only do a slot machine because I get too anxious if I'm like
with other people.
I'm like, I'm going to look stupid.
I don't know the rules well enough.
Like, I don't need to be like, you know, having a poker face.
Yeah.
With anybody.
But, I mean, Vegas is fun.
I like it.
I've only, see, my problem is I've only been there for Bravo related reasons.
like BravoCon, Vanderpump Hotel.
I went another time with, and it's just like, I think, I've never just like chosen my own
adventure in Vegas.
Well, say the word, Dylan.
I'm available.
I have no home, as you know.
All I do is watch Big Brother, listen to you, do my podcast, and that's it.
You are a big, big, are you, do you go all the way back with Big Brother?
Like, when, how long is that relationship in your life?
I definitely watched Evil Dick season, so I don't know how many years ago that was.
and I have watched for a long time.
I don't think since the beginning,
because sometimes they'll,
I know Dr. Will,
I think I watched this season,
sometimes they'll bring players back
that I'm just like,
I don't remember.
But that's what Survivor too.
Like I sometimes just don't,
I have a terrible memory.
Yeah.
So.
I just saw it.
It was going around the clip of,
I think it was like the second season
of Big Brother when they had to tell them
about 9-11 in the house.
And it's like,
that kind of thing is so freaky.
When it's like,
oh, this,
the whole point is you're in a bubble.
Like we,
having,
I know.
I was thinking about it because part of you is like, shouldn't they not know about it?
But then it's, I almost think, insensitive for viewers to be watching these people being like,
let's get it tan while we're watching the worst footage ever captured.
I just really, I need that kind of thing to never happen on Love Island, USA.
A show I don't watch.
See, I have limits.
I'm just, I'm just thinking about those like sweet dumb children in that villa in Fiji.
And I'm like, I don't need them grappling with geopolitical events.
They should make it all.
about geopolitical events, then I would watch.
If the show was like McLaughlin hour with the Love Island people.
Every day they just read them the news in the morning.
Yeah.
It's like, hey ladies, what do you think about?
Yeah, Azerbaijan, anybody?
The budget, standoff.
Yeah, I can't get into that show.
What do you like about Big Brother?
Because for me, I will say, I've tried a couple times over the years and it never,
it never sticks for me.
Do you not watch?
No.
Oh, that's so interesting.
I thought for sure we were going to like Kiki about it.
Well, that's a disappointment for me.
Keep you with yourself.
Okay.
Won't be the first time.
Well, here's what I will say.
This season especially has been really good because they brought back three icons from, one from Big Brother, who is someone I couldn't stand.
Although I think she got the note, Angela.
She was the one who had like the terrible racist thing last season.
And she actually did something this season two that was really bad.
I just don't, the woman is out of her mind.
I mean, this is the thing.
You put a crazy old white lady on the show and like bad things are going to kind of happen sometimes.
That's her.
That's a very good picture.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I know, Angela.
She has been overall, I think, very understated this season.
I think she took notes from the blowback.
I'm shocked they have her back, to be honest, but it is what is.
But they brought back Dee and Devin's from Survivor.
Now, do you watch Survivor?
That's my favorite show.
Survivor to me, Big Brother is like remedial survivor.
I mean, it's...
Which I think is why I've been like, okay, I'm going to pick one and it's going to be Survivor.
I know, but gosh, but I love Dee and Devons.
People are coming...
I love Devon's.
I'm sorry.
I think he's funny.
I think he's kind of hot.
Are you going to kick me out of the room?
I have a crush on him.
I know he's happily married.
It's not about,
I have like a mind crush on Devin's because he is so funny.
And he truly does not give a shit.
He's a pleasure to watch.
And same with Dee.
I love Dee.
I'm from Miami.
She's a Miami girl.
This season has just been really entertaining,
watching them run circles around these other players who are overall quite annoying.
Not everybody,
but.
Well, that's the thing with competition shows like that
where it actually is about.
like strategy, social game, like all, you can tell when they have like returning people,
they've done this on Survivor too, where it's like fans versus favorites or whatever.
And it's like, these people don't know what they're up against.
They're kindergartners.
And then, I mean, imagine this.
You have a show.
It reminds me also on Survivor when they have the icons coming back and they're not
voted out the first episode.
I'm like, it's like, how stupid?
Like literally how stupid are you guys?
Yes.
Or also when, I hate to say it, but I always get mad.
And like the women don't band together or the players or, you know, people see themselves and they don't go, we need to form an alliance and then get us to the end. That's be the first thing I do.
Right. It's like, okay, if Surrey's on the beach, love her. Work with Surrey.
Surrey. It just doesn't get better than Surrey for me. She is, I really adore her. And I don't, I want them to keep bringing her back every season.
It was, I really love her. That was the, I assume you watch Survivor 50 in the spring. Yeah.
It was such an interesting experience, specifically with the people who were from the earlier seasons, where it really felt like there was this almost like eulogy quality where it was like, oh, like, we're going to get this moment of Surrey on this beach where she has to turn over the coconuts or whatever.
And it feels like the culmination of like two decades of this woman's journey.
And it's like, wait, but like she can do, she can like.
She's like 50.
She's not.
Like we can see her again.
Maybe she doesn't want to do survivor again.
but like you can find something.
Yeah, but that's the show.
The show is, I mean, look at Jeff.
These are people whose subtlety has not ever crossed the path of Survivor.
They don't really care, you know?
And it works.
It does.
You know I don't need to see ever again?
Riz God.
Yeah.
I'm over it.
I went to a Survivor 50 drag show in Brooklyn when the season was airing and it was
parvety was there.
Wow.
was there, Rizzo was there.
It was crazy because there were drag queens
that were doing like numbers as all of them
but then they would come on stage and like dance with the drag.
It was a crazy net, but the like R-I-Z, G-O-D.
I'm over.
I mean, I'm sorry.
Like, no.
It was funny for like one week and then it's like, oh, enough.
He's, I mean, it's like sweet.
I guess that he's so dorky that he doesn't know how bad it is.
Maybe that's I'm trying to find a silver lining.
I met Tiffany at the Los Culturias Awards.
And then I was like, please be my best friend.
She is so funny and cool.
I love her.
And I am sorry that she did not win.
She was someone I was really rooting for.
They should bring her back.
She's a great player.
And you know what?
She's easy to watch.
Like people who just, they don't put on a character for the cameras.
They are just authentic.
It's not easy to find someone like that these days.
With Survivor, it's like, okay, now you're past season 50.
Like, you can do whatever.
Like, it doesn't matter.
Bring people back whenever.
I can't wait for it to come back.
And you know what?
Every season, I'm like, I've had it with Jeff.
And then, you know, they're going to bring a new.
Jeff in, I'm going to be like, no, this person needs to go.
Like, it's going to be tough, so I don't know what I like.
Yeah, it's like, the people that have been hosting those shows, Jeff, Julie Chen,
Julie Chen Moonves, I'm sorry.
Julie, look at me.
Julie needs to go.
Julie needs to go.
Can I ask a question?
No, I need to me and I can't.
It's better styling.
Here's a woman.
No, this is really, okay, hear me out.
She's forget, take politics, take her husband, everything out of it.
Yeah.
She's gorgeous.
Yes.
She's gorgeous.
She's slim, tall, nice hair.
I mean, she's very pretty.
they go out of their way to make her look
as bad as possible
every single time she's on the show
the styling and it's got to be her
I mean I'm sure it's a little mumsy
it's horrible mumsy
it's and you know it's like
the most expensive I'm sure it's like
Ronello and Akris and all these like
rich old lady brands
a laurel whatever it is the ugliest stuff
it looks like she pulled it from the sea
every week I'm like what C did she pull it from this week
I hate her style so much
and also like
Yeah, I could do with a new Julie.
She's just, it's Chenbot is real.
My friend Ben, who came up with that.
It's a real thing.
She's so robotic.
Yeah.
It is, it's like all of these reality properties that have been on for like 20 plus years.
And it's like the host is so intrinsic.
And it's like there.
I mean, there has to be like a.
Honey, it should be us.
An exit strategy at some point.
One would hope.
One would hope.
But anyway.
It is funny though.
When you talk about Angela talking about like a, you know, a white lady back on TV.
right now, Vicki Gunn Wilson is on two shows a week on Bravo.
And it's a lot.
Guess what?
I wouldn't know because I stopped watching OC a few weeks ago.
Good for you.
Thank you.
And I, listen, I love Housewives.
Yeah.
I've been a big OC fan.
I like Orange County.
It's a place.
When I'm in L.A., I always go the best.
They've got a great off fifth.
Anyone?
Near Disneyland, anybody?
Best North Storm Rack in SoCal is in Orange County.
That's true by South Coast Plaza.
shout out. Great shopping.
Yeah.
I just hit a wall with that show.
And I don't, what happened?
Was it that Emily got skinny?
I keep trying to think what.
And listen, I don't know what happened.
Something shifted on that show.
And it just was same old, Shannon again.
Listen, I like these ladies.
I've met many of them.
They're nice women, you know, but I just couldn't do it anymore.
It does feel like this season has like a particular lack of juice that is just, yeah, it is, it's a little.
Same old.
It's a little confusing because it.
It's, it's, the pieces are not that different than they have been in the last few years,
but it just feels like there is like some core of interest that is not there this year.
It's like nothing's happening.
Then I do want to watch Ultimate Girls trip.
Yeah.
And I did catch this week's episode because it was on before show.
I never missed Blow Deck, Mediterranean.
I love Below Deck.
And I know another one.
You and I are on very different wavelengths today because we're on different TV.
No, but I love it.
I'm being educated.
I sure hope so.
I'm being enriched.
I sure.
That's so sweet.
It's the first time anyone's ever said that to me.
But I saw the episode where they did the party with like, what was the theme of the party?
What were they doing that?
So it was an alter ego's party based on a photo shoot that they did in like season two or three of Real Housewives of Atlanta where they were like, Nini set it up.
And she was like, you're doing a photo shoot as like something different than you.
So Kim Zolziak was like the perfect housewife.
And then it was kind of a weird theme.
But so essentially on girls trip, that.
translated to everybody just like come in a costume.
And so you have some people being like their own alter ego, which Ashley is
a ton of pussy, ash T-O-P.
That's her like drag king name.
Oh my God.
Let me just say.
This is why I went to college.
You know what I mean?
Like I went to a good school.
Why do I watch this?
And then you had Giselle, Diana Ross speaking into her microphone the whole time.
I love Giselle.
But then you have like Vicky in the worst Jackie-O costume.
That was Jackie up.
I have to get out of here.
No, I must.
I, no, I thought she was like Ramona Beasley or something from,
she looked terrible.
And then she got mad, right?
She left.
Well, she's been miserable the whole time.
She's trying to, she's busy working on her computer while they're all in the car
together.
She is, you know, she doesn't want to have fun with anybody.
And it's like, truly, why did you say yes to this?
And I guess it's the check.
I guess it's the being the one that's on this 20th anniversary thing.
But it's like, I think the thing with Girls Trip, at least this season, is it feels like everybody else in the group is kind of their lightest, most fun self in this environment because they don't have to be bogged down with whatever storyline, whatever conflict in their own show.
And Vicky just like cannot put on a happy face.
Sour puss.
That's her thing.
She's tons of sourpuss.
Write that down.
Kill me, actually.
T-O-S-P, yeah.
It's the dumbest thing I've ever said.
They're at this party in Atlanta where it's this, you know, great atmosphere.
Nini is back.
All the OGs are there.
Potomac ladies, Salt Lake ladies all came to Atlanta.
Everybody's having a good time.
You know, you're seeing, it's so fun actually at these events because you're seeing like,
you know, whoever's talking in the foreground.
And then you see like Marlough Hampton and Teresa walking past in the back.
It's just like there's lots to look at.
And Vicky is like miserable.
She shouldn't be there.
And she's...
I'm having Nini's back.
Yeah.
Is Nini still being herself Nini?
Because she looks a little...
She looks great.
Yeah.
She had a couple good moments this week where she like, she gave this speech where she was like, you know, all you ladies, we've been in this for a long time.
I couldn't have done it without Shiree and Kim Zolsiak and Lisa Wu, who was...
Of course I love Lisa.
She's standing there and does not get name checked in the speech.
And so Lisa brings up in...
She's like, oh, well, I didn't know you were here.
I forgot, whatever.
And she's like, I don't know.
Like, she's like, bye, bye.
I don't do these kind of scenes anymore.
I saw this.
This was this week.
I saw it.
I was like, that's my girl.
I love Nini, you know?
Yeah.
It's just a fun.
It's, it just feels like everybody's having their best day kind of.
And then so for Vicky to be like, I'm uncomfortable.
I feel invisible.
Nobody cares that I'm here.
It's like, well, maybe nobody does care that you're here.
But like, why does that matter so much?
She's doing it to herself.
Let's be real. That's the problem. Anyway, well, I do need to watch it, though, because I have a friend who worked on it.
And then she complains about the wig. She's like, I hate wearing a wig. So she takes off and it's like, the wig is just like, her hair is just in like a shitty ponytail.
Oh, no. I'm like, well, the wig's not going to look good if you're not doing your wig prep.
She needs to do wig prep. This is, I did it before today's podcast.
And it's sitting beautifully. Isn't it? Thank you. I actually trimmed the front.
You do that yourself? I cut my own hair.
That is terrifying. It's incredible, isn't it? And I will tell you that I almost messed it up.
It's like, I have such laser vision that when it's one millimeter off, I sense it.
But it was this front part was a good inch longer and it was sqxing.
I went, I was like, oh, my God, I'm in full screlex mode.
So I trimmed it in it.
I wish it was just a hair longer.
But it's good, though.
It's in line.
I would never know.
Yeah.
The thing for me, I don't have the right depth perception if I'm looking in a mirror.
I'm like, if I move it closer than it looks further, like what's, I really can't.
Well, it's hard for a guy because also.
I don't know. For me, it's like this is easy to kind of line it up against my neck. But yeah,
a hotel doesn't want to see me coming because that sink has seen some shit. I'll just tell you
now. And it takes me at a week to cut it because like every day I'll comb it and I'll see another
chunk. And I'm like, you're never, never quite like satisfied. Now I am. Now I'm not another
easy month. I'm not touching it. I have shows in LA. I don't, and I have like photographers
coming. We're filming it. I cannot butcher my hair before September 24th, two shows at the Elysian
theater. Yes. Get your tickets. Go on my Instagram. It's in my bio or just Google it. It's called,
wait, why don't I know you? I feel like that is, that title is so you. Do you? Because can I tell you
something? Honest Moment? Yeah. I just did two shows at Joe's Pub. They were incredible,
best crowds. Josette, if you ever come to New York listener and you want a great show, go to Joe's
Pub. Yeah, it's a great spot. It's amazing. And as I was like, wait, why don't I know you? That's the
title. I was like, mad at myself. Like, that's what I'm calling this show. But I, it can be
because when I was touring with the cast of Queer Eye,
I was opening for them and then moderating.
And, you know, I was funny.
My shows are very funny.
Of course.
And afterwards, people were coming up to me being like, wait,
why don't I know you?
And I was, how to answer that?
Like, I couldn't afford a publicist.
I'm not more famous.
I mean, I don't know how to answer that.
But yeah, you will be very satisfied if you come see me like.
See, I'm thinking of it coming the other way where you're meeting someone and you're
like, you're so funny or so cool.
Why don't I know you?
It's a bit of that as well.
Why don't I?
Well, the joke is that I know every person who comes to my show.
Like, I will never get new fans because I'm so blessed to have such loyal fans that people come to my shows.
And I'm like, Sarah, Susan, like, I know everybody.
I'm like, my podiatrist is here.
Everyone, I call it to Make a Mish Foundation because everyone's just showing up to support their girl.
And I really, I'm very lucky.
Hey, you got to have the ride or dies.
I really do.
I'm very lucky.
Are you going to watch the new season of Salt Lake City?
Of course.
Well, so you were here.
I looked last year in November when you were here before.
and we were talking a lot about Bronwyn and Todd.
And since then, they are no longer together.
She's, you know, painting the town red.
She's dating some dancer now?
Well, there was a model that she was linked with that got Brandon Good.
But then she's post, I see her posts on threads about like going on dates and stuff.
So I don't know if she's really like locked any locked down.
But now we also have Angie and Whitney.
Single.
Separated.
Yes.
Angie shocked me.
There has been so much development.
So you were most surprised by Angie out of those three?
Listen, I love that show.
I would never miss it.
Yeah.
And I will name job that.
I met Bronwyn at Las Colterisus.
We were in a little sketch together.
And I would say, gorgeous girl, petite.
Like not, you know, I always, some people photograph tall or whatever.
She gives bigger energy.
In a great way, yes.
Whereas, like, Mariah Carey is taller than you would think.
Maric Carey is like 5'9.
You would never know that.
Bronwyn, I would have thought, is 5'9.
No.
But stunning.
And I would say reserved.
Like I felt like she was holding back a little bit in a way that I was like,
oh, I thought we were going to like Kiki and be fun.
Really sweet.
Yeah.
But just not maybe holding onto her energy is a nice way to put it, I think, is what was going on there.
And I feel like her online persona is so out there and fun and like crazy and cool.
So I'm like, okay, I want to see.
I want to meet that version of Bronwyn.
I'm really interested to see like what her, how, how, how, how,
the Todd situation affects her like relationships in the group because it does feel like that was such a
weight on you know it was like okay I'm I'm having fun with whoever but then I go home and it's like
not fun and with Grandpa Joe from Willy Wonka yeah what I'll say is uh thank you he's my only
fan by the way only person who laughs at me Dylan in the room um no I my fear is that she's going
to come in a little too hot because she already was like
Like she already was, and that's why we loved her, right?
She's great on the show.
She brings the energy.
She brings the drama and Angie as well.
I think Heather, who I like, but Heather has kind of fallen a little bit, I think, in the status of the Salt Lake girls.
My fear is that I don't want her to become unlikable, Bronwyn, because maybe she's a little too high in herself now that she's truly cut the fat.
Well, it's interesting because I feel like sometimes on a show when somebody gets divorced or,
has a breakup or whatever, they kind of come back with their tail between their legs. And it's like,
oh, this is, you know, it's embarrassing. It didn't work out. I, or like, you know, somebody cheated on me,
whatever the situation. With Bronwyn, I feel like it's like, oh, no, this is the best thing I've
ever done for myself. And I do, I see what you mean where it's like somebody coming in that has a
lot of that like adrenaline of like I'm single I'm hot I'm living my I'm living my best life I'm
a fan favorite like it can it can tip over into that like I lost the plot a little bit I feel like
safe space I hope she never hears this that's kind of what happened with Heather a little bit like yeah
and I still like Heather a lot and I've met her and she's nice and everything else but that's why I
hate meeting them you know because then you meet them and I'm like oh yeah yeah that's my best friend
horrible on the show not Heather yeah yeah you have to kind of like you have to be careful
But, no, but I mean, we loved Heather, right?
She was like the funny one, the cool one.
And then something shifted, exactly.
And you're like, oh, wait, I don't identify as much with her anymore.
And I just hope Bronwyn doesn't steer into that lane.
Although I'm thrilled she divorced Todd, as she should have never been with him to begin with.
This is so much like a supermodel beautiful and smart and funny.
And then I married the ugliest hater on earth.
Yeah, Heather, like, it is tricky because it feels like she,
for the first few seasons was kind of almost like the default like representative of the franchise.
And now I think a lot of people are kind of like mixed to negative on her just in terms of like
how she handles her business.
It's like it's tough, you know, because the ego, we're all people, right?
So the ego is going to affect her when people love her that much.
Yeah.
I think it's hard for a normal human being to be like, oh, pish, posh, like I'm still garbage.
Yeah.
Don't mind me, you know, and not have that effect how they're.
behave, especially on a show like that where the cameras are with you 24-7, you have to be
responsible for the plot. It's a lot of pressure on these ladies. I did see people talking about
like how, how do you think Heather felt when she found out Lisa got the Ultimate Girls Trip
gig? And it is, it's like, obviously there's other, you know, Meredith, Whitney, Mary have all
been on the show this same amount of time. But I'm like, I feel like Heather is the one who would
be like mad. She didn't get that phone call. I'm not going to weigh in on whether they're
delighted or not. I'm happy Mary's coming back. Yeah. I am. Yes. You know, I tell the story every time. I saw
you before after BravoCon when I was here. Maybe it was after. I think it was right before. Before. Yeah.
Because, you know, I had a panel with Mary. This was before all the obviously very tragic music.
Right. And I was so afraid based on her words to Heather that I as a tall woman would terrify her in any way.
Whenever I, listen, I'm six foot one. Whenever I meet very petite people, but specifically women,
especially who I've seen, you know, I tiptoe in.
I know, yeah.
I tip toe in.
You know, I always say like when I walk in a room, the water shakes like in Jurassic Park.
Like, you can hear me calming from down the hall.
So I was so gentle.
I always say it's like when you're feeding a golden retriever ham and they're like gentle.
Like that's how I walk in.
She could not have been friendlier, lovelier, more positive.
We became friends.
I was just like, wait, I'm crying.
I'm so happy.
that Mary Cosby loves me.
Like, I feel like I passed some sort of test.
Yeah.
And now I'm part of her church.
No, it would be that easy though.
I'm talking about by the way.
You're like, and next time I'm in Salt Lake Sunday morning.
I'm telling you now, I would be easy to bring into something like that.
I had a similar experience with her last year because I had never met her and then she came
and did the show like during last season at some point.
And there are housewives where it's like, oh, I feel like I've kind of like seen
around like whatever.
It'll be chill.
Fine.
With Mary, I was kind of like, I don't.
know what this is going to be. She was great. She was great. Yeah. And beautiful. It was so well-dressed.
Ah, gun to head asked me to say something bad about Mary. It just won't happen. I mean, good luck.
I don't care. I don't care. I won't say anything. And what she's been through, I don't wish on
anybody. And it's just, I'm happy she's coming back. Hopefully, you can kind of, you know,
take her mind off things a little bit and give her something to focus on. Yeah. I am, I'm curious
how much we're going to get of the Angie and Whitney marriage stuff because that happened. I think like around
at the time they were finishing, but it is just like, it's always so fascinating when these,
these couples just can't. Whitney makes sense. Whitney, I kind of see because I think that, yeah,
you know, listen, you can only drink so much before it starts. I'm sorry, it's true. This is a woman
who really pushes it with the drinking. We've seen it happen time and time again on housewives. I think
it's like one of the underlying themes of the show are people who like abuse substances sometimes or
whether it's shopping or drinking or whatever it is, like addiction. And, wow, look how serious.
just got, God, I'm good.
God, I'm good.
Anyway, so I do think that had something to do with that.
I actually like Justin.
Justin was one of the most unproblematic.
I hope I say that in like tomorrow something's TMZ.
But yeah, if that happens, cut this out, obviously.
They've really been on a roller coaster two of like the career job business side of things.
Because it was like, I think it was maybe the second season or something.
Justin lost his job because they didn't like that he was like on the show.
And they were, I mean, they were like humping each other on the show.
show, whatever. And then Whitney had the whole, you know, skincare and jewelry and they lost money on
that and they, Justin wasn't working. And it does feel like over the years you've really been
able to see the ways in which the both the show and kind of the associated like lifestyle have kind
of strained them. Right. And it is, you know, not every couple falls like victim to that,
but there is definitely an element of like, yeah, being on this, there is a cost that comes with like,
all of this. Can I ask a real question? I'm shifting gears. Yeah. I know it's not my show, but I must.
As I'm looking at you, as someone who I admire, I really, I love you. Every time I see you, we have a
lovely conversation. Why don't you watch below deck? I even came dressed so captainy today. I thought,
oh, we're really going to get into it. I was so excited. What happened? I, okay, I was watching it
regularly until a few years ago, I would say. And then it just felt like, at least in my, in my community,
let's say there was like a dip in the kind of sustained interest in below deck.
It's back.
I am feeling.
I am feeling good.
I'm so hard to please.
You know that.
Yes.
Like there have been bad seasons of below deck.
No question about it.
It's a reality show, whatever.
They can't have some things that happen.
This season, do you know how many new deck hands they've, every week they're firing?
It's so good.
You're adding to a, you're not the first.
person I've heard say this. It's really a great season. First of all, I love Captain Sandy,
one of the great captains of below deck, because I rank them. Love a Carrie.
Yeah. Obviously, we miss the OG captain. I forgot his name.
Captain Lee. Captain Lee. I almost said Captain like Larry. I'm like, goodbye. Listen, I'm on DayQuil. No one can yell at me. I'm sorry. Jason. I know he's the hottest one.
Yeah, I miss Captain Glenn. Sailing yacht? I didn't like Glenn. Okay. I don't like Glenn.
Sorry, don't be mad. Carrie, I love. I also never
know, like, when the captain's become problem at, I'm like, I'm not following them on, you know,
threads or whatever.
I don't need to know.
I just, I think Sandy's like got her shit together.
She is the one they respect her.
She's very straightforward with them.
I think when she even, someone gets in trouble, she handles it in the right way where it's
not too abusive or like, whatever it is.
But forget Sandy.
Sandy's just like, she's barely in it.
Right.
These people, you guys, first of all, they had a giant like GI Joe man from South Africa,
finish.
You heard this plot obviously.
You know what happened with the sheets.
Yes.
Okay.
Finished.
I'm a lady in a different man's bed.
Uh-huh.
Got on the sheets.
Didn't change the sheets for three days.
Wait, with this girl named Jen.
Hold on.
I must.
And this is Jen spelled G-E-N.
Gen Z.
Yes.
Okay.
That, that I think is important.
Oh, beyond important because she is, like her face looks like a big letter G.
And I can't explain it more than what I'm saying.
I just, she's a horrible girl.
Really, really a horrible girl.
And she must have male attention.
You know girls like this.
they're not getting attention from a man.
Yes.
They're not breathing.
Like they don't know how to exist.
Tinkerbell for the male gaze.
Yeah.
Exactly.
So there's another guy in the boat named Cooper.
He's like a big Southern also ripped.
I mean, these guys, I'm like, he's huge.
Handsome looking guy.
He's hooking up with, I know none of their names.
I'm the biggest fan.
I'm like, who's that girl?
This one, that one.
The cute brunette girl.
There's like another young girl.
Right, right.
I literally don't know any of their names.
Will you pull up the cast for me, please.
Thank you so much.
I know Aisha.
Of course.
Well, then also Nathan, you know, he was just...
With the baby.
Oh, with the baby.
And he...
That's not even good for the show because it's too serious.
Right, right, right, right.
We need the, like, the stupid mess.
Yeah.
Anyway, so this guy, Luke, then he's flirting.
The one in the sheets.
Where's my camera?
He's then...
He's now flirting with the chef, who's a very talented chef.
She's French.
She's pretty.
She's kind of not what you would expect.
Like, she's not one of these, like, below deck hose, you know, some of these.
She's a very talented woman.
And she floats, but she's French.
And she's like, no, if I am not zero and he pick.
I am not even paying attention to him.
I do not care about him.
Fuck him.
Blah, blah, blah.
And so she's like, no, go fuck yourself.
So obviously he's like so turned on by that because he's never been rejected in his life.
Yeah.
So then Luke, the finisher, gets fired for a number of things.
He's just terrible.
He's full of himself.
He's awful.
So Jen is like flirting now with Cooper who's secretly sleeping with Katrina in front of her.
Katrina starts to cry.
I mean, she's really aggressive and just, I don't like when homely girls come in hot like that.
Like, please.
No women.
You know, it has nothing to do.
with how she looks, but it's, it just kind of fills the plot for me a little bit.
Like, why are you behaving like this?
Because she needs the attention.
She doesn't know how to get it.
Anyway, the end of the episode, just quick is that.
Luke, the big buff, South African guy, who's been thrown off the boat, apparently has
been flirting with Joy, the French chef, this whole time via text, sends her flowers on the
boat.
They're all standing around on the front of the boat.
And someone's like, oh my God, Joy, you got flowers.
And she's like, flowers for me.
Oh, who sends me flowers.
It's so nice.
She takes it.
It's from Luke.
Jen, bitch, that we all hate, starts sobbing.
I was like, do you know how exciting that is to see someone get there come up and?
It is.
Within hours.
Oh, amazing.
The thing, okay, you're really making me feel like I need to put in some hours on this season.
But the thing that I think the best below deck seasons have is like you have known these
people for two, three weeks at the midway point in the season.
And they get so worked up over these relationships.
that basically don't exist.
But you watch Love Island.
Yeah.
Come on now.
It's worse.
That's why I can't watch Love Island
because it's in 24 hours.
Yeah.
This is no weeks.
And they're living literally in bunker.
They're sleeping stacked on top of each other.
Of course it's going to happen.
You make a compelling case.
I think I got to go back to the...
This season, if you don't like it, text me
and I will never force you to watch another show again.
I think it's a great thing.
That bitch Michelle told me to watch.
I'm like, but I don't understand.
I go text. I do it kind of good, huh?
The more I'm doing it.
I have to like release and then yeah.
Yeah, you were joy in that moment.
I felt it.
Thank you.
I like her.
She's a firecracker.
Go on.
This, I love having you here.
Is that the show?
I think so.
Dylan, you know I adore you.
You're going to be in L.A.
I sure am.
I'm going to plug a couple things and we can move on with our lives.
Do it.
September 24th.
Come see me, the Elysian Theater.
Wait, why don't I know you?
I believe it's a 730 to 930 show.
Get your tickets.
They're not expensive.
The show is fun.
It's a beautiful theater.
Blah, blah, blah.
