Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Didn't catch the latest Roland Martin unfiltered podcast? Here's what you missed. There should not be a single law enforcement agency. It does not have body cameras. It's real. Black farmers have been under attack.
Starting point is 00:00:16 This is just the latest example of them just slapping DEI on anything. It's raw. And I'm sitting here going, they are playing y'all for fools. Catch Roland Martin's daily commentary on the Black Information Network. And download Roland Martin Unfiltered. on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts. Or wherever you get your podcasts. It is officially the last day of summer since we are speaking about time.
Starting point is 00:01:13 This is the last day of summer, officially? I think so. I don't know. The groundhog has to do something, right? I don't know. Is that that that time of year? No, not yet. The official start-up fall on the calendar is the 22nd.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Well, it was a little breezy yesterday, and it's a little breezy today. It's my type of weather out there. Yesterday was raining all day. It was a perfect Sunday. Oh, it was amazing. Love a rainy Sunday. Does this make me a terrible father? No.
Starting point is 00:01:39 I woke up excited. I don't even know what you're about to ask me, but no. I woke up excited that it was raining, and then I looked at the weather app. I was like, oh, and it's raining all day? All day. Sorry, Amara. No park. I'm not chasing you for the next six hours.
Starting point is 00:01:51 No park today. Can't do it. I chased her all around upstate the day before I was fucking exhausted. So yeah, I like the rainy day, and I like the weather. This is my time of year is coming. Yes. But it is New York. So it could be 90 degrees.
Starting point is 00:02:04 these in two days for all I know. No, I think we've seen, you know, I think that this is it. I think we're now going to live like high 60s, like low 70s from what a time for the rest of the rest of the, of course. Peage, that's when we come alive. Nice little sweater. That's your time. That's your time.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Yeah, tell us nothing at that time. Cider time. That's when Pete's throw a shorts on. Ankle exposure. Yeah, as soon as it hit 30 degrees, the ankle socks come out from Pete's. That's a fact. This month is tough for me, though, because the San Giro Festival is happening. And, I'm a weak man.
Starting point is 00:02:39 When I see the red sauce, I'm weak. Yeah. I was telling you guys on the group channel, I started eating Veal Parm and pasta at 1130 in the morning. I'm weak. I can't do it. All right, man. I walk past it.
Starting point is 00:02:48 That's what it's for. I should stop. Yeah. But yeah, I'm weak. I don't know if I'll be able to do it. Baby, did. Y'I went to San Gennaro on, was it last Thursday? Me and Peach Day.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Yes, we did. I was it. It was good. We got some fried ravioli. Fried ravioli. Yeah, fry rabbioli with me balls. The doctor gonna be shaking your feet and you're saying like dicing. And he had he got some, you got Panay Alavaka, right, Peach?
Starting point is 00:03:13 Yeah. You just work it off on the Ferris wheel. And we got, I mean, I feel like the walking through the festival is, you know, kills more calories than the Ferris wall. Yeah, it's a nice walk, like to walk around and. Yeah, no, it's great. Yeah, got a little Pia colada. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:26 I came here, put some scotch in mine. It's, it's a great thing to visit, like, once or twice, but our proximity to it, it makes it tough for day to day. You just have to walk by those smells every day. Yeah. So we all need to be strong. So you can't eat like any of that stuff because of your... No, I can, but I shouldn't be eating Veal Parm at 11.30 in the morning.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Even like before record, I'll start, I'll like take a nap in the middle of this. Yes, just it's too heavy food. What's Bill again? Like baby cow, yeah. He has a daughter and he's eating baby cow. My name means baby cow. in somebody's... In Greek.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Wait. You eat at me. Wait, wait, wait, hold on. Hold on. What? You have been laughing at me for five years doing this podcast. Your name means what? When I said my name means Red King. Loudest you've ever laughed.
Starting point is 00:04:16 You hit notes I'd never heard you hit before. Demaris means baby cow. Yeah. The name of Demaris comes from the... Thank you, Ryan. Appreciate that. Caff. Baby calf, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Or heifer. Heifer's more accurate, for sure. You know what? See? I knew it was in proximity. I didn't know. I didn't know it was back to the Greek times. But I knew Heffel was somewhere in there.
Starting point is 00:04:42 Like, whenever I think of Demaris, it's that Heffel. No, names sometimes are desks in the way Rory, Gaelic, red, I have red hair. Like, you know, our names are. The king part, I don't know about that. I left that part out because I'm humble. All right. Amongst all the peasants. What is your name mean again?
Starting point is 00:04:58 I'm humble. Ray King. Red King? Yeah, that you guys laughed at. And the whole time we had Heffer over. here. Yeah, Happer is like, that's golden. So Red King, Heifer, I think my name is the beautiful one.
Starting point is 00:05:10 It also means gentle and tamed, but y'all didn't want to read that part. Ain't nothing gentle and tamed about you. Zero. I can't. I couldn't help, I'm sorry. Thank you so much. It was right there, Roy. It was right there. It's fine. All they heard was a long beat. They heard a long beep. That's all they heard.
Starting point is 00:05:34 I hope you at least got Demaris's reaction with the people. Oh, man. Ryan, what does your name mean in American? And is Ryan even your real name or like, that's your Americanized name that you just give to school? Your customer service name. Yeah, everybody at work at 7-Eleven. Like, your name is not Eric, man. You are an Indian.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Your real name is Ryan? Yes. What is, okay, what does ye mean? you don't got a Chinese name? You know what Yi mean? That's the Yi clan. Yeah. Yeah, that's like, come on. Ye is like Smith.
Starting point is 00:06:13 No, it really is. No, it really is. Ye is Smith in China. Oh my God. Surplus. Surplus. Easy, peaceful. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Okay, so that's like your family crust is that simple. Yeah, okay. Okay. So that's how you spell it? Why? or Y E. Y E and Poyson like that. Toysan.
Starting point is 00:06:39 You got it. I can't believe I didn't notice that Angela Ye was Asian. That was, I would never forgive myself for that. When did you, do you just notice that now? No,
Starting point is 00:06:50 I remember last year y'all told me and I was like, yo, she Asian and y'all was like, what the fuck you thought the Y' man? I'm like, I don't know, people would be in a stage name. Angela Yee and didn't just look at her. That part.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Asian didn't jump out at all until you at all. He was like, oh, that's just Angela. Yeah. Okay. Congrats. She got engaged. Congratulations, congratulations. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Congratulations. Yeah, that's awesome. Are we really just going to pass over that mall said his name means the beautiful, what was the beautiful one? Yeah. Ryan said in what? In the Bronx. In the Bronx.
Starting point is 00:07:25 In Spanish it means evil. That's not. First of all, you spell my name, J-A-M-I-L. That's how you spell my name. Let's start this. See, look, the marriage is trying to be funny. Sorry. Arabic, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:07:38 In ancient Tremont. Beautiful or handsome. Look at me, baby, Dee. Why, you're, you're a hate. You never knew how much of a heifer. No. That's what your parents called you a heifer.
Starting point is 00:07:55 In Greece, they would call you a heifer. I'm not calling you a heaven. I'm just saying it made sense. I can kind of see, you know. In Astoria Queens, you're known as the heifer. Yeah. That's all. I'm just mad because my name means.
Starting point is 00:08:06 handsome I'm a king so I mean I guys tried to clown me but that's what they do to kingdoms Baby Dee what are you sipping that's pissing me or what is that the is that what you pulled out the fridge
Starting point is 00:08:20 why you put it in that cup is that from the festival well y'all don't allow me to have no labels up on my desk so I put it in a different cup oh well and that that you definitely can't have on the table that bottle you can never put that bottle on the table let me tell you the history of that company I don't even know what it was oh you know what it was Go look in the fridge.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Okay, got it. Understandable. It's coffee. It's iced coffee. Oh, that was the, did you check like the expiration date? Oh, now I don't know. Yeah, that company's celebrating a holiday. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Sugar doesn't expire. I suppose. What did you guys do over the weekend? What did I do this weekend? I went to the outlets. Nice. Loved, love an outlet. Went to go see what they had some shame.
Starting point is 00:09:06 They had nothing. Alets, Alex had stuff when you were a kid. You might, I don't know if there's like a lot of adult things in this anymore. Yeah. I was wondering. Can't go to the outlets by myself? Yeah, you can. I just wondered if you went by yourself.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Yeah. You want to go next time I go? Sure. We use it your car? Yeah. Okay, we could go. I was just wondering if you went by yourself. It's a long drive.
Starting point is 00:09:28 For me, it's not there for. Oh. Like an hour. Oh, yeah. True. Okay. Makes sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:33 I ended up in the upstate New York, Walmart, where a pod listener, pulled me aside and whispered, what are you doing here? And I said, I don't know either, man. Somebody asked me that one day in the Bronx. In the Bronx is funny.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I'm from here. What am I doing? I'm from right there. What are you talking about? What am I doing in the Bronx? I'm going to see my mom. Yeah, like I grew up three minutes from here. I'm talking about it.
Starting point is 00:10:01 That's all I know. Well, I mean, I probably didn't belong in that Walmart, but still Walmart's there. Machine gun? No. Not New York. Well, no, they sold guns at that one. Really? Yeah, Kiev was beside us.
Starting point is 00:10:14 There's guns there. I was like, we're at a fucking Walmart. You get suntan lotion and a Glock. Even at like the next morning goods in Long Island, you could buy guns. You have to have like a license that's really hard to get. But yeah, you still buy them. Oh, yeah. I forgot.
Starting point is 00:10:28 It's just in New York City you can't have. Yeah. You don't have the right to defend your home. But in other parts of New York, you can. No, the person that breaks in your house has more rights. Yeah. He'll be out an hour. You're breaking your house, rape you.
Starting point is 00:10:41 And you'll be doing light for protecting yourself. If you fight, if you shoot at him running out the door. No, that's real. You can't. New York, New Jersey. You cannot shoot at the person that's robbing you. Crazy as hell. If they're running away, you cannot.
Starting point is 00:10:55 They're in my house. They're in my hallway. You think I'm supposed to be like, oh, wow, he just made it out the door. I can't kill him now. And I'm supposed to trust that this criminal is just running the other way. Yeah, like crazy as hell. He might be running and go get something else. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:11:06 He's about to let his man. This homes are men. Ain't no fun if the hominis can't get that. Crazy as hell. That's not funny. Sorry. But no, we were in hunting territory. So, yeah, there was a lot of rifles.
Starting point is 00:11:17 But we were picking up Legos for a birthday party. Okay. Yeah, which I know it was never really my story to tell. But now that Kia has put it on, she started a YouTube page, Life with Kia, I believe is the name. We were at the Jay Z show. And sorry that you guys have to hear about this Jay Z show one more fucking time. But extra innings was, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:36 delayed till 3 o'clock in the. morning was there with Kia, some of her friends, some of my friends, all of us just chilling. And Kia gets a DM from somebody saying, I'm your birth mother's best friend and I'm sitting next to you at the show. So Kia was adopted. So then we find this woman and Kia. It's all on our YouTube page. It's her story to tell.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Go check it out. It's a insane story. It was insane to witness. But again, not my story to tell, but now she has it on her YouTube page. So we went upstate to meet. She had already met her birth mom after that. How did that go? It went great.
Starting point is 00:12:09 And you can go on her YouTube page and she tells all the stories the entire thing. So it was her birth little brother's birthday party. So we went up and, you know, did the whole birthday thing. It was my first time meeting all of them. She had met them prior to. So I was just. Did they welcome you? Yeah, they were all really, really, really nice, you know, through the pigskin around.
Starting point is 00:12:29 It was a good old, good old birthday in upstate New York, man. Come on. He threw the pigskin around. First time meeting the family. That's America for you. They were all very nice. They had a bouncy house, trampoline. Like, it was...
Starting point is 00:12:41 Oh, they got... It was a good top. Okay. It was a good top. Hey, listen, when you're going back, I can roll with you. What you said? They got a bouncy house and her... Her mom baby baby.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Her birth mother's husband, which isn't her birth father, but her birth mother's husband, um, had two ATVs, dirt bike, one of the doom buggy joints. Like, it was... Baby, B, it was a lot going on. I see you ain't got whisper. We're going. They had one of the many, the mini four-wheelers for the kids. That shit was moving faster than my Audi.
Starting point is 00:13:15 And I was like, wait, how did you? I was like, I took the governor out. Reworked the whole thing. I was like, do that to my car. Rework the configuration. They capping at 40. He had these little kids going 65 miles an hour. They used to cap it at 40.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I got it up to 70. Don't work. But no, it was a good time. Upstate. That's dope. Yeah, and it was cool because, yeah, like, I don't really have siblings, so it's like, you know, Amar is not really going to have first cousins. Like, you know, go meet your first cousins and shit. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:13:49 You know. That's cool. That was a good time. And then Sunday we sat our asses down and did absolutely fucking nothing, which was amazing. So I'm here refreshed him this morning. Are we supporting the NFL? I need to know before I start, like, going on Polymarket laying these bets down. Like, because after what they did to.
Starting point is 00:14:06 On Polymarket, you can. I got Macklemore. Bet if we even want to support the NFL. Yeah, but I mean, like, they said he couldn't go into Gillette Stadium. Robert, you know, Robert made the call. So, like, are we supporting the NFL? Because just a few years ago, we all collectively wasn't supporting the NFL. Well, I mean, all right.
Starting point is 00:14:27 And then all they did was roll out the weekend, one half-time show, and everybody was right back on. Like, oh, it's the weekend. Like, come on, man. He came out there with the band. around his face and we was right back to watching NFL every Sunday. I've been watching the NFL. And this is one of those things where I maybe sound pussy to some people, but if I start
Starting point is 00:14:49 boycotting everything that Robert Kraft is involved with, there's not much I'd be able to do anymore. So if I draw the line on certain things, it's like I'm just going to pigeon my hole into a place that I can't. I'm in dead silence with the lights off. America has made it and capitalism has made that every single thing we do every day, including talking on these phones, is contributing to the oppression of somebody. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:21 Down to what you just said of the label of the coffee that she's drinking, that we're not going to name who it is. Like, go look. You know they're going to back Robert Kraft and his decision. Yeah, it's rough. And I mean, yes, Robert Craft is the owner of the Patriots, which, which is in the NFL. They play at July Stadium. But he's also in entertainment owner in the sense that they play shows there.
Starting point is 00:15:45 So, yes, it's an NFL thing, but is it really an NFL thing? That isn't really an NFL thing. That is something different. That's bigger than the NFL. All right. Hey, listen, do at this point, this is what I tell. I'm just answering you. This is what I tell.
Starting point is 00:16:03 And respectfully, some listeners aren't going to relate to this and I at this point I don't give a fuck. To my black people, do what makes you happy and find joy in anything you can. If you want to watch sports, if you want to do whatever, find joy and whatever you can. It is not your job to stand up as people who are also oppressed and save everyone who was oppressed at his white people's job. So, Mall, if you want to watch football, I'm dead ass. I'm not like I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. It's our job to stop doing what we're doing. Yeah, like, so enjoy what you want to enjoy, baby.
Starting point is 00:16:37 You've suffered enough. I'm just trying to make a few extra dollars on a weekend, that's all. Do you think? Again, in Polly Market, you can bet if we're even going to support that. They have a whole genre for that. Yeah, but that's just losing money at that point. Yes, they're supporting in their phone. I don't know, again, and to what to Merritt, so there's probably going to be a lot
Starting point is 00:16:53 of listeners that are going to disagree with what we have to say here, and I fully respect them disagreeing with us and looking at us kind of weird with that, but I almost view it as like the Thanksgiving formula that holiday represents some of the worst shit ever. But it is nice to use that day. Everyone's off so I can be with my family and celebrate a day amongst people I love. No, I'm not celebrating the holiday of Thanksgiving, but this is something that we enjoy. Now does this mean I support everything that
Starting point is 00:17:21 Thanksgiving stands for because I want to hang with my mom that day? No. It's like the All-Kelly thing. Separate the man from the music, right? No, okay, no. No, it's not the same thing. You know, that is section and we got to have a conversation about the internet was up in arms about that too. We can talk about that later. About what? Just talking about it now. If we're moving forward from the topic we were just moving on from.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Usher crowned himself King of R&B. Okay. And there were some people who had the backlash of, well, the real you got it by default because the real king of R&B is in jail. Let me tell you why I don't like that. Number one,
Starting point is 00:18:04 R. Kelly has never been a performer or entertainer that Usher has been. Ever. Big facts. That's number one. And we're not going to act like Usher didn't have a classic album pre-R. Kelly going to prison in all of these charges. He may have had two classic albums. I was going to say more than one classic album.
Starting point is 00:18:23 So while I get it, Arkelly's pen and the songs that he's written for himself and other artists, some of the most timeless records probably ever in R&B. but there's more than just writing a song when it comes to being the king of a genre. Yeah. Catalog, obviously, star power, performance, longevity. There's a lot of things that you have to factor in when you say king. That king means over a period of time you were on top and you ruled. So I'm not mad at Usher crowning.
Starting point is 00:19:06 I don't even think Usher crowned himself. And sometimes you got to cry yourself because waiting for niggas to crown you'll be dead. Well, first of all, he's done this at every show. When I saw this going viral over the weekend, I was a little confused because at the show I went to, he put the crown on the exact. Like, that's part of the set. Yeah. He didn't just do that at this specific show. He does it at everyone.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Well, somebody decided to make it a headline. Well, um, Arkellie's last hit. What was Arkelley's last hit? God, who fucking know? I'll tell you, same girl with Usher. No, I don't think that that's true. That's definitely true. R. Kelly, don't have a hit after Same Girl.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Well, Life God. I'm telling y'all, he did not have another hit after Sam. Hey, man, hey, you're right. You're right. Arkelly's last major hit song, the top 20 was same girl in 2007. All right. So now you add that into the mix. Father had to stretch out his hand and get it from me.
Starting point is 00:20:07 I mean, I'm not mad. Like I said, the student that surpassed the teacher. I mean, listen, man, R. Kelly's never been the performer that Usher is.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Like, never. Or the singer. When we did our drafts and y'all got mad at me for saying that R. Kelly is not that great of us. And he's not a great. No, and I hate that I'm talking about this piece of shit.
Starting point is 00:20:28 But like, I mean, it is when we're talking about the music. And you know what I'm saying? Obviously he's riding where he is, you know, nothing is ever completely black and white. Nobody is completely all bad or all evil. Like whatever, you know what I'm saying? I think we can still talk about his contributions to the genre, especially when, you know,
Starting point is 00:20:44 you're comparing it to his peers. I don't think that R. Kelly sings better than Usher. Arkelly cannot perform better than Usher. The only thing R. Kelly really has going for him is his discography and the work that he's written for other artists. But if that's the case, then baby face is the king of R&B. like if we're going by writing well I think the mall's point we're saying that
Starting point is 00:21:03 the king you have to check a lot of the boxes and yeah I think Usher checks all of them Arkelly does check a majority of them but I think Usher does surpass them even if R. Kelly doesn't do that weirdo shit I still think we have this conversation between Usher and
Starting point is 00:21:19 R. Kelly I don't think it's just because he did that weird or shit oh thank God now Usher just walks to the fucking throne no I still think Usher is in that combo with or without the past of R. Kelly. I think Usher can sing better. But I mean, R. Kelly's discography is absolutely insane. Yeah. But yeah, I don't know. Who else is Usher competing with? Like, why is everyone even up in arms? The next person we would maybe talk about is on tour
Starting point is 00:21:47 with them and said he's the king. Yeah. Yeah, I don't think it's, to me, it's not a debate at all. I don't know how people are making this a thing. And I hate this because this is only given, you know, everything that Usher and Chris is doing right now with this tour and then you want to put R. Kelly's name in a mix of this shit. Like, get the fuck out of here with that, man. Usher's the King of Army. There's no reason to debate it. Like, it is what it is.
Starting point is 00:22:11 He's the King of Army. Are there other guys in the genre that are, you know, greater what they do and have great careers? Yeah, but Usher has been, he's been, you know, at the top of his game since he was probably 17, 18 years old. Yeah. When it comes to Army.
Starting point is 00:22:28 16, yeah. So like, what do we, you know what I'm saying? It's like, when was my way? And relevant. Usher has never not been relevant. I can't think of a time where Usher was not relevant. My entire life, I can't think. Yeah, he's.
Starting point is 00:22:39 I tried to make him not relevant during Mars versus Venus ever. You crazy. Wait, was that the one when you did the future album? No, I love that album. I'm saying the people did. That was, I can't, that came out of it. The people tried to make it seem like, you know. What was on that album?
Starting point is 00:22:51 Mars versus Venus is, that was like guilty with TI. Oh, yeah, yeah. Like, that was, that was. Cool. No, I didn't like the, the future album. But he was still relevant and still the fucking king. Just because he put out a weird dub, dudd album doesn't mean that you're not.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Was it Mars versus Venus? Was that the song? Was the title of the album? Raymond versus. That was Raymond versus. Who doesn't like Raymond versus Raymond versus? A lot of people. A lot of people.
Starting point is 00:23:14 That's to me, after confessions, that's my favorite usher album. After 87. A confession. Yeah. Raymond versus. Favorite. I didn't say better.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Favorite. That's the same as well. That's the same thing. No, no, it's not. No, it's not. No, it's not. It's not. Favorite has a lot.
Starting point is 00:23:29 lot to do with the era that it came out. That album came out. My, my, I think maybe like my sophomore or junior year in high school. I was like really dating for the first time falling in love. Like it has a lot of memories attached for me. 87.01, I was like, what, 10, 7? I was young as fuck. So it doesn't have the same. But you still go back to the classics. Volume to me. No, I love it. It's an amazing album. It's just not my favorite. I might have been two. I think I was two when Thriller came out with. It's an incredible album. I found that motherfucker favorite. And I think it's the best. Confessions is the best. Confessions is a classic perfect hour. 8701 is tough. That's a different, man.
Starting point is 00:24:07 My way is a great. Yeah, nah, come on. Fan, we're going back to 94, 93, call me a. My way is incredible. Yeah, like, this. Yeah, I was just, come on, man. We're not doing this. Because there's a few of them all-kelly albums that are going to start rolling out. This is complete. That was some bullshit. Not everything was chocolate factory. Yeah, not everything was TP2.com. I'm like, look the fuck out of here.
Starting point is 00:24:29 It was a lot of the mountains where it was like, man, get this shit out of here. Then he got into that whole, what was that whole play he wrote? Trapped in the closet. That whole series. Chill, chill, chill, chill, chill. Don't do it. All right, no, all on. I'm just saying when the last time.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Trapin closet was genius. See, I think we were just caught up in a moment. Go back and look at that shit down. I wouldn't because I wouldn't bring in Tala Perry. Yeah, I still know trapped in the closet from top to bottom. Oh, my God, a rubber. Yeah, like, it was a lot of that shit that was trash. We just hadn't seen nothing.
Starting point is 00:24:56 like that. I don't think that it was trashed. We hadn't seen nothing like that. Because no one would make some shit. But you still don't have anything like that. No, all right. The first, when they premiered like those first few ones, what was that, was it on DET that they premiered them? Premiere, I can't remember. I remember what, like when they did the first few chapters. That was great and like, holy shit. This is really like a soap opera that he's singing. Once they got to like chapter 50, it was like, I. Who listened to that? Chill. They had Michael K. Williams was the cop. Like, no, I, I, I watched all the way to 75, I think. Well, that's not, I'll stop that like 20.
Starting point is 00:25:32 When did the midget come from underneath the sink? That was in the 20s for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, that's what I'm sorry. But those first like 12 chapters, those were, you know, it was a little cheesy, but we had never seen, it was like a play. We'd never seen some shit. A lot of them chapter.
Starting point is 00:25:45 It was Tyler Perry before Tyler Perry. A lot of them chapters was bullshit is all I'm saying. Oh, no, it got crazy. It was a few. That was like, okay, that was dope to writing on that. It's like, all right, cool. But like, it got to a point where it was like, man, get out of here. This shit is trash.
Starting point is 00:25:58 But again, we was caught up in a moment. There was a moment. It was like, okay, all Kelly's doing this thing that we've never seen any artists really do. All right, I get it. Was that streaming? Was that streaming? What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:26:10 No. Trapped on the closet. That shit was like on DVDs and shit. No what I'm saying. Like, was that streaming before streaming? No. You weren't streaming anything. I think Thriller was the first stream, though.
Starting point is 00:26:22 But what do you mean by stream? What do you mean? I think Thriller was the first stream. I don't know. I don't know what you mean by that. Like a long music video? Yeah, that was the first thing. There's a movie called the Blues Brothers.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Oh, you mean streaming like streaming. I get what you're saying. I get what you're saying. I thought he meant like DSP streaming. I'm like no. I'm still lost to explain. He means streaming like Kai Sinat streaming. But no, that was not streaming.
Starting point is 00:26:46 No, that's not what I mean. You just fuck my whole. Never mind. Because I don't think you know what you mean. Huh? I don't think you know what you mean. No, I'm just saying like the first like long form like music video. connected to an album,
Starting point is 00:26:58 rollout, like, yeah. Oh, that's what you mean as far as promotion. You keep using the word stream. Stream means live, I think so. So that's what was confusing everybody. I'm just saying that was considered the first one, though. That's as live as you can get. Well, Ryan's pulling up a...
Starting point is 00:27:14 No, Ryan want to go to Yoko Ono. Get out of here with this shit. Stop trying to put your culture in our culture. I stop. Y'all was trying to throw y'all little, get out of here with that shit. Don't pull up Yoko Ono and John. You know, that was just her first name.
Starting point is 00:27:25 The last name is Yee. It's Yoko Ono Y. That would be funny if Yoko. Yo, can you imagine streaming if John Lennon was with Yoko Ono? Like in the streaming era? That would be. Watching their stream? Watching John Lennon live stream is crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:42 No, because remember they did? Didn't they do like a bettathon? Something like that, I think. If I remember correctly. Like it was for like World Hunger. Yeah. Imagine the Yoko Ono John Lennon bedathon. With Kai at the last time.
Starting point is 00:27:55 laptop. Who would you have liked to see stream though? Like which artist? Tupac. Artists? Tupac.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Tupac. Tupac. Yeah. Tupac would have been the greatest streamer of all though. A lot of stream. Yeah, I got Michael Jackson fucked up. You remember that you know that
Starting point is 00:28:12 always go viral when he went shopping? Uh-huh. Imagine you see a nigga do that on last week. When he went fishing? What he used to call it? Yeah. Yo, he was like, how much is that? He was like, that's $300,000.
Starting point is 00:28:23 He said, give me two of those. he was in there Mike's bill imagine if this was streaming yo imagine if that was a live stream and you see Mike just running it up like that yeah
Starting point is 00:28:35 are you crazy would have been a great streamer Whitney and Bobby oh oh please if we saw Whitney and Bobby stream we got it now Blueface and Chris Sean nah
Starting point is 00:28:45 that's that's Blueface and Chris Sean am I not allowed to say that that's JV that's JV compared to with Bobby That's fresh for the football
Starting point is 00:28:52 that's not even JV shit Bobby and Wendy, no, no editing. Come on, now. Just letting Bobby catching Bobby on a wake-up, and it ain't no more milk in the fridge. And Superhead has her own stream, and Bobby's on the couch? Yo, we missed out on some great shit, man. We missed out on some great shit.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Yeah, Michael Jackson. A Michael Jackson live stream, though, we would all, like, really, like, you know who else would be an interesting live stream? Who? Floyd Mayweather might be an interesting live stream. Like he might be interested to watch a nigga like hop on the jet
Starting point is 00:29:27 and fly somewhere to watch a game and they get back on the jet and they go straight to the gym and work out for like two hours that would be crazy I mean his 24-7s were entertaining but like to be able to see Floyd like all day
Starting point is 00:29:40 and just watch him like just move around okay well Michael Jackson Whitney and Bobby for sure okay so outside of Floyd who's still alive would you be interested and watching streaming
Starting point is 00:29:51 that you think might actually do it too or it's capable of doing it. This is not really going to answer your question and it is kind of off piggybacking with Floyd. 2004, 50 cent, because streaming so lucrative, he would commit to that more than he would commit to music. And with 50's mentality at that point, he'd probably be the funniest streamer of all time. Okay. 50 would be up there with Pock, I think, is the greatest streamer. He was bringing Rick Ross's baby mother shopping with a flip cam.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Can you imagine if he had a streaming rig and all the time in the world? Yeah, that'd have been lit. He would be insane as a streamer. And he'd commit. Whereas Floyd, I think, would be like, whatever. If I got a fight, I'll do it. I think 50 with his work ethic would outstream Kai with that 30-day shit. The Rock?
Starting point is 00:30:43 Like, in character all the time? I was going to say, do this man, does anybody know what the Rock is actually like? Dwayne Johnson. Do we know what he's really like, like off-camera? Probably like a really nice family, man. I'm like, he's such a. private person. I don't. Yeah, but I just want to see him for a couple days. I know he could have and work out at like four in the morning or some crazy.
Starting point is 00:31:00 If Sierra and Russ would stream, I wish somebody would give them a TV show, which I'm sure they could get it. They don't want it. I would watch Sierra and Russ's family. I feel like a lot of people would, women-wise, anyway. In this era, like, they would have been a good offset to like the Osborne family. Remember when they tried to do like crazy reality shows and they'd have like a wholesome one to like balance? Like balance the shit out. They They'd be good for that now. That would have been. Ozzy?
Starting point is 00:31:25 Oh, my God. A live show. Ozzy would have been crazy. Like, imagine you see anything on a live shoot just bite the head off. Are you okay? Imagine that. You just watch somebody live stream. He'd take a bird and just bite the head off.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Oh, the jackass boys live stream? Yeah, they're going to end up killing their self, though. I was going to say, yeah. I don't know how long it would last. Yeah. It was good that they needed to change the lenses and, like, all right, well, we'll be back on in an hour. Go relax for a second. Tom Green. I mean, he damn near did it before it was a thing. Yeah. Hits from the streets. Y'all don't remember hits from the streets. Remind me.
Starting point is 00:32:04 You don't know hits from the streets? Come on, man. P. You don't remember hits from the streets? Is that MTV? Yeah, come on, man. Y'all don't remember hits from the streets. No, we all said on B.T. How you don't? Oh, man, that's fucked up, man. Oh, I remember. Oh, yeah. No, no. I can write by that one, two, three, fifth photo, yes. Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about. What's my man's name? Yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah, yes, I remember this.
Starting point is 00:32:28 Yeah, I remember that. One of the first dreams. He used to say he looked like Tupac. They used to say that. Who said that? I never heard nobody say that. Okay. I never heard nobody say he looked like Tupac.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Who said he looked like Tupac? He did when he was younger. Tupac? No. No, no damn Tupac. Yeah, I don't really say it. You white. You white.
Starting point is 00:32:50 You don't see it. You can't see that. No, usually I would. say all black people look like too buck um but no i'm i'm putting my my one a one b twopock and 50 is my final answer you mean michael jackson whitney and bobby yeah winnie and bobby would be fucking cruel oh my god never leaving house i think kiki palmer will be a good streamer if she started streaming but she has so many other avenues of media that you can't over extend yourself because people will get tired of you so between 36 chambers and
Starting point is 00:33:23 Wu-Tang Forever album, I believe, I believe I have the timeline correct. Wu-Tang bought a house in New Jersey that they all lived in, all of them. Oh, yeah. All the members, when they all got a little bit of money, they all lived in one house. That would have been the craziest streaming experience of all time. Yeah, that would be up there, for sure. That would be fucking nuts. I don't know if we get Wu-Tang forever.
Starting point is 00:33:50 If they're streaming 24-second. That would be crazy to just watch that though And actually get the album Yeah From that, that would be crazy That would have been crazy But I mean part of me feels like I'm Happy a lot of that
Starting point is 00:34:05 Didn't happen Yeah, we didn't need the cameras Yeah I like to think highly of the people That we're talking about too Yeah, I'm glad the cameras Wasn't around for certain errors And around certain artists
Starting point is 00:34:17 Like I feel like it definitely would have Changed a lot of what we have So you know, I'm on the side of everything happens for a reason and doesn't happen for a reason with the unfortunate situation that happened with pock i am happy that we really just got all of his profound thoughts like we got some of his best thoughts out there we didn't need all of them i don't need every single thing that enters your head any human being on earth i think that's a problem where every thought is out there yeah i like that i have that thought of tupac of his most profound thoughts out there well you see demarrow

Those are the very people who I always say vote against their own economic interest and they complain about the very thing to receive. It's raw. I knew that the issue of transgender athletes was not going well with a lot of black men.

Starting point is 00:37:04 wherever you get your podcasts But did you guys watch any of the HBO, JZ, Rick Rubin? I didn't catch you yet, man I haven't caught yet You saw it? Baby D? No, I haven't caught it yet. I knew Rory would watch it for us.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Yeah, I'm going to watch it tonight. It's two episodes out right now. I watched both of them yesterday during that. Is it coming out? It's like episodic. I don't know how they're doing the rhythm of it. Okay. Yeah, right now, at least on my TV, I only have two of them.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Okay. I had, it's good. It's good. I had mixed feelings at first about it the same way I kind of felt about, remember when Letterman did his Netflix? So every Friday? Every Friday. Remember when Letterman did his Netflix show?
Starting point is 00:37:54 Mm-hmm. And I wasn't shitting on Letterman because Letterman is obviously a fucking goat. But it's okay to show people. It was a lot of, like, even when he did his Jay-Z interview, like the guests that he was getting, I wanted to hear things I had not heard before. Like, even when he did his Jay-Z interview, I mean, you could probably rewind the tape of when we reacted to it on the pod. I was like, I mean, this felt like this was for my mom. Like, so you grew up in Marcy, huh? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:25 It's like, okay, this is what we're wasting the few times Jay-Z ever speak. weeks on. And I'm not saying that's the case with this whatsoever. I love that the focus is the music and the lyrics and it's real lyric breakdowns with the person that wrote it and lived in those experiences. And Rick, who is obsessed with music, kind of guiding the entire thing. It wasn't much that I didn't already know, though. I do love hearing Jay breakdown all his lyrics, but it wasn't anything that I had not really heard Jay speak about before. That was my first thought, which then later as the day went, I felt like it was a selfish thought, because not only as a whole venger, but just in general, there's plenty of new fans that speak with
Starting point is 00:39:12 such arrogance and such knowing of things now that were not around for any of the shit and know nothing about it. Like, we've shit on those new fans, and let's just use Jay-Z for an example when they're like, Jay-Z's never been relevant. And they say it was such confidence. And it's like, you're 21. You started listening to music when Take Care came out. Why are you speaking with such confidence that someone has literally had no impact on the culture whatsoever?
Starting point is 00:39:41 Not to say those people are now going to wake up and be like, oh, I respect it. But I do think there are a lot of young fans like myself in the early 2000s that didn't know a lot about 80s music. But I wanted to learn about it. I love that it's coming from the horse's mouth in this regard. Because I think there are a lot of young fans that do want to learn. And this is a good experience for that. Not even just young fans, though. I think that it's a whole generation of people to what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:40:11 It's a lot they don't know about Jay-Z, the artist, the person, stories that we obviously know and have heard just because he followed a culture differently. but a indicator that was remember when Robert Glassford was nominated Chris Brown was like, who the fuck is Robert Glassford? Now you would think that Chris Brown would know who Robert Glassford was, right? But that just shows you the age gap and then it's like, you know, even a Chris Brown
Starting point is 00:40:40 may not know. And Black Radio 3 was like by far the best RV on that year. Right, but even Chris Brown might not know. Yeah. Right? Because Chris, he has a lot going on. He's in his own world. he's an artist he lives he lives in his own world sometimes sometimes you got to come out of your world to just know who certain people are so a lot of these conversations we get from legends is going to
Starting point is 00:41:02 sound repetitive some of them well it's going to be like i heard this story before heard that story but then it's going to be a lot that you hear it's like oh wow i never knew that you know i mean like it's it's a terrible music snob um point of view for me to have that oh i've heard this before yeah not everyone's a fucking loser like you were right like that has watched every single JZ interview and has been, you know, obsessed with this your entire life and, oh, there's one of your favorites. Like, it's a very snob. Like, I had to catch myself in that regard where I was like, oh, I've heard this before.
Starting point is 00:41:37 Like, not everyone's a fucking loser like you. Yeah. This is new to someone else. Yeah. So not in the Letterman way, because I want to make that clear too. Rick Rubin started this entire series with the Dynasty intro. Mm-hmm. Then went to meet the parents.
Starting point is 00:41:51 though we got j z to break down meet the parents right that is incredible to me because that's not usually what they would do but i mean the stuff that they were highlighting like jay has talked about the biggie and tupac stuff before um we did get a little tidbit that that break in um Brooklyn's finest uh I think big was going to say uh this your final warning I'm not liked in California jay made him take that that's why there's a break before Clark Kent comes in on the hook because he made him take that out because of the Tupac thing. That was new. I had never heard that before. That was really cool. But no, it's, it's, it's music we love and Jay breaking it down. Like, I see why they sat on this because I'm sure they didn't really know what to do with it,
Starting point is 00:42:33 because it's clearly old. Jay has dreads and I think they shot it a few years ago. I'm sure they were trying to figure out what purpose it would serve. And I think now with the anniversary, it makes sense. Yeah. I think it's cool for young fans that are interested in this and not the fucking weirdos on Twitter that want to speak with, you know, full confidence in this stuff that will shit on it. But yeah, I'm sure there's plenty of kids
Starting point is 00:42:58 that like Hove and want to learn more. And this is a perfect example of that. It's like the decoded book in visual form. So, I mean, I'm going to watch every episode. I think it adds to it. Yeah. To the whole story, to the whole legacy and the career. See, I'm going to check it out.
Starting point is 00:43:16 I know the episodes that came out. but I didn't get a chance to watch it, but I watch it tonight for sure. And to piggyback off what you said, Rory, that's how artists stay relevant. That's how, like, there's something new that comes out about Michael Jackson all the time. So, for example, like, when we got Tora, because we said we didn't really enjoy the Michael movie as much, it's like we didn't find out anything new. And it's like all these young kids who are now enamored and obsessed because they didn't know any of this information. So I got to stop doing that.
Starting point is 00:43:45 And while I do pride myself in, like, I've never been. as much as like I loved underground hip hop. I was never the fan that got mad when someone surpassed it. Like, no, you don't need to stay down here. Like, I like things I find for them to find success. I was never one of those fans, but I have to stop in this era as I get older where I hear things like, how you didn't know that? I got to stop being that person.
Starting point is 00:44:08 Yeah. I have to catch myself and be like, wait, when I was that kid's age, did I ever like, I didn't know that shit when I was that. Yeah. I didn't know everything about late. 80s hip hop when I was fucking 15. Like, why would I? You don't know that Big Daddy King song?
Starting point is 00:44:24 No. Right. I'm 15. Yeah. Yeah. So I have to catch myself and stop being that person. Snobby. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:33 It's snobby. It's arrogant. And it also like, I feel like would turn young fans that want to get to like, that really want to know things. Like start to feel like, all right, damn, let me not even speak anymore if I was supposed to know that shit. So I'm, that's what this taught me. in a very let's make this about me way when i watched it i have to stop doing this yeah cut your
Starting point is 00:44:54 shit man at least i can admit it that's part of gross no listen you listen i appreciate that i can definitely appreciate that um staying on defending j z um if that's not your thing changed the channel um there was a rumor from a site that like doesn't have any credibility but it's you know it's fun to talk about that stuff on podcast jz and rock nation are reportedly struggling to secure a headliner for the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, and Jay-Z could end up taking the stage himself via Daily Mail, which makes it law. Oh, I see what they're doing. I see it.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Oh, I see what they're doing. I see what they're doing. Get it out there early. Couldn't find nobody. So, hey, let Jay do it. Or that's a way to say that's the only reason why Jay's doing it is because they couldn't find anyone. Now, my prediction without speaking to anybody, I think Jay is going to do it.
Starting point is 00:45:51 I think Beyonce is going to be a part of it. That's just my prediction with zero, zero info. That's me just throwing shit out there as a fan. But reading that, DeMaris and I were talking off Mike, it could be hard to find a halftime performer for the Super Bowl. There's only so many A-lister's around that can fill that with the schedule and the right timing. Do you do they ask to everybody? I don't know that, but how many people...
Starting point is 00:46:17 To your point, if people are turning it down, which I don't think many people are turning down to Super Bowl, just your man's. It might be the only one I know it. Right. Because why would you turn down the Super Bowl? Now, you have to pay for everything yourself, but you're streaming,
Starting point is 00:46:32 goes up through the roof. All of that should happen. I think Taylor's probably turned down. I'm pretty sure, too. I'm sure people have turned it down not to say, no, I don't want to do this. I can't do it right now. I'm busy.
Starting point is 00:46:42 Yeah. It's not worked. Like, I need to dedicate the, next three months of my life. I could see Taylor. Maybe Taylor. I'm sure she's turning. Maybe. Oh, she's, yeah, maybe.
Starting point is 00:46:53 But, I mean, we have a list here. Again, this is probably Daily Mail that's telling us this, so don't quote us. Adele is publicly stated she turned the offer down because she felt the massive speculation is not about music. Dolly Parton has, Drake we know has. Cardi turned out an offer, following her Grammy success, citing Desire for More stage experience, pink, Outcast turned down in 2004
Starting point is 00:47:22 because Three Sacks refused to cut down their songs to fit the strict time limits. This is all via Reddit. Don't quote us on this. All right, man. Where's Chris Brown at? Cut the shit.
Starting point is 00:47:40 What are we talking about? Chris and Usher. What are we talking about it? I know I should did it, but. Where's Chris? They're not going to offer Chris Brown in Super Bowl? We've talked about, a million times.
Starting point is 00:47:51 Why are they not offering Chris Brown a Super Bowl? Well, we already know that he's even, it's not based off consistency or moral value. He's just on that list that advertisers have. He couldn't even do a fucking half-time
Starting point is 00:48:06 at like a celebrity basketball game. Like, and again, people that have performed at halftime, been a part of the NFL, have done way more heinous things. And I'm not defending Chris Brown. I'm just saying people have done way more heinous things.
Starting point is 00:48:19 It's the fact. It's a fact. Like this shit, like, when does it stop? But that's just how. Like, when is it like, I get it. I understand. No pun intended. Like, come on, man.
Starting point is 00:48:28 Like, this shit got to stop. But this is why Chris gets so angry and he, and I understand when he lashes out on IG story and like everything's on Pyru. Because, yes, he watches people that have been convicted of things worse than him get breaks that he deserves that he can't get because of something that happened when he was a kid, again, not excusing it. Yeah, he ended up just on that advertiser list. It's not fair.
Starting point is 00:48:51 We have to stop. We have to. Stop what? Because the reason why Chris Brown remains on these people's list is because people can never forget what Chris Brown did because Chris Brown is always in the news for something else violent. So you can't forget what he did all the. He just pled guilty to a charge where he would attack somebody with a bottle in London.
Starting point is 00:49:15 I'm pretty sure he didn't that, you're about to get dismissed? No. No. No. He just pled guilty. guilty to it. So that's what I'm saying. There's always... bleeding guilty doesn't, especially with assault charge, doesn't always mean that. Are you... Did I say that he did it? No. What I'm saying is he is always in the news for something regarding violence. That's what I'm saying. It's never just been a peaceful, a good 10 peaceful
Starting point is 00:49:39 years for Chris Brown. So people can't forget what he did as far as advertisers, major news, all of this stuff. People can't forget what he did because there's always a reminder. something always happens that's like oh he did something else that just goes back to him being a violent person so you're saying he hasn't had the time to do the rebrand whereas snoop who did half time was on murder was the case that they gave me dray has been all rebrands they have had the chance to rebrand because time time heals all but if you're constantly in the news for something and this is not me saying that chris brown is guilty of anything i was not there i do not know i'm just saying that there is is always something coming up when it comes to his name that has to do with violence. So people cannot just forget what happened. Oh, that happened all those years ago. But when you search his name, there's a million and 18 violent cases or charges or something, whether he ended up being guilty or not. That has a lot to do with it. No, I feel you. So it's not just, oh, he did this horrible thing when he was a kid and he hasn't done
Starting point is 00:50:43 nothing else. His name has been attached to nothing else since then. So people should just let it go. I'm not saying that. It's not that. All right, cool. And I understand what you're saying. And I appreciate it. No, that makes sense. My thing is, what does that have to do with anything?
Starting point is 00:50:56 You're going to the logical. We just watch this nigga sell out stadiums across the world. We're laughing, but how Maul is saying that is really how the NFL operates of who gives the fuck about what anyone does as long as it's moving tickets and it's not about the Jews. Like, that's really how all of it. And I said it on here. I think Chris's whole thing with these stadium tours is basically saying fuck that halftime show. Like, I could do my own stadium show.
Starting point is 00:51:19 I truly believe he said that to himself and his team around him like, called the Breezy Bowl. Yeah, like we don't need. I could do a stadium by myself. Now, he's out doing another run with Usher, but he did one by himself where he headlined. So cool. Like, I get it. But like to keep trying to put this thing on, oh, there's nobody.
Starting point is 00:51:39 We don't have nobody. No, there's people out there. Now, again, some people may turn down the halftime show if they were offered it. There's a select few that probably can. but there's this artist out there that they can get to do a halftime show. Yeah. And also, Demeris doesn't make a good point too because I'm just thinking of like all the news. If they announce Chris Brown headlining, no matter, whenever that happens with a black artist,
Starting point is 00:52:06 it could be like for it could be nothing. Common went and read a poem at the White House for Michelle Obama and they called him a woman beating cop killer. And it's, we're talking about common. So Chris, there's plenty more here that they can just go through. Whereas the Snoop thing, they'd be like, well, that was 40 years ago that he was on trial for murder. Whereas the Chris thing, yeah, you can find something yesterday and run with it. And it'd be, even if it's true or untrue, Chris is an easy target for the media to go after. Kanye?
Starting point is 00:52:38 Never. Why? If Chris is an easy target, what the fuck do you think that Kanye is? Kanye would piss off every color race of people. Every color and race of people possible, including his own. He just sold out Albania. Why do you think that the Super Bowl is about people being able to sell tickets? No, it's about, no, no.
Starting point is 00:53:00 Well, it is about numbers. It's about numbers. It's about people tuning in. You think if, let me ask you something. You think if Kanye was announced as the headliner for this halftime show, that wouldn't be the most viewed halftime show ever? It definitely would be. What do you think these advertisers are scared about?
Starting point is 00:53:14 Without question it would be. What do you think, we just want to give it. We just watched him give it to Kendra because he had a great year. Not that as far as numbers go. Not that the owners care, but can you imagine because Robert Kraft got together with other owners of NFL stadiums to get McLemore out of there. It wasn't just Robert Kraft calling Ed Sheeran. He got the coalition behind him of NFL owners as well to say we don't want McLemore here. Can you imagine, again, not that they really care.
Starting point is 00:53:39 He sold out so far twice. It's not about, stop saying NFL owners, stadium owners. Well, some of them were an NFL owner. Well, some of them. but he, that's not a, like, but Kanye already sold out. But I'm saying, imagine if they sold out the NFL stadium.
Starting point is 00:53:52 All McElmore said was free Palestine and then also said to all of the Jewish people here. It has nothing to do with you guys. I love you guys. He said every right words you could say. Kanye put on a Klansman outfit and has a song called Hi Hitler. They would look insane if they allowed Kanye West to be the Super Bowl halftime performer. They're going to get money and views. It's not like the Super Bowl halftime show is a constant.
Starting point is 00:54:17 that needs to be proven. It's a proven concept. Sometimes more people watching others, but it's always going to be the most watch thing of the year. So it's not necessary to be like, we got to get butts and seats. Like people are going to watch. Oh no, the Super Bowl is going to it's done all right. I'm talking about tuning in. They're fine. So that's what I'm saying. When it comes to advertisers, the advertisers, whoever is, whoever plays, people are going to watch. So if now you have somebody where it's like, over time, I might lose business because my brand is a attached to something where my demographic cannot support and now I'm going viral because of negativity for support in this artist. No, I'll pull my brand out. The same thing that happened with the
Starting point is 00:54:57 festival that Kanye was supposed to headline. Yeah, they were sold out all types of tickets or it was actually already sold out. But them advertisers start pulling out because it's like the eyes on this product with this person in the background is not worth it long term for my brand and my product. It's not just about butts and seats or people watching eyes watching. It's not all about that. And I think Kanye might turn that down. Kanye ain't not turning down to Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:55:23 I don't think Kanye will turn out of Super Bowl. If he is in his... He want to put that globe in the middle of the field. Staying on top of that globe, crack a Pepsi open. Huh? Yeah, no, that wouldn't. Well, I mean, that's something I was going to say to the end between Jay Z and Chris Brown's relationship,
Starting point is 00:55:38 plus obviously Jay Z and Kanye's relationship. But, all right, let's say Kanye, hypothetically, which would never happen, ends up being in February, the performer. He gets, how long is he usually? 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 16 minutes. How much is music? How much is ranting?
Starting point is 00:55:59 If you give, that's the only reason I think Kanye wouldn't turn it down. I get to talk. I think he does, can't tell me nothing and rants for the next 13 minutes. I think they would put that in his contract that he can't. Oh, because Kanye loves.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Oh, yeah, he loves a bind by contracts. That's a jam right there Like they would tackle that nigga off the field This is live This is live I don't even know what his signature looks like That's another one live stream That would be crazy
Starting point is 00:56:24 Oh Kanye I mean he's done it for the Thai shit That was insane Yeah man I don't know man This super bullshit They're gonna roll somebody out there Y'all know I'm Zara
Starting point is 00:56:35 Get Zara up there Incredible year My Lord Incredible year Midnight Sun is killing Blazing the shots right now I just feel like We were already at the years
Starting point is 00:56:43 that maybe Jay was going to get some pushback with the people that he's picked and they were going to go classic rock or more white. I thought this was the white year anyways. 2027 year of the white, I thought that was going to happen.
Starting point is 00:56:59 I actually want Doja Cat to release another album that's like pop and like really good. Like that blows up because I would like to see a Doja Super Bowl. She's somebody that could do that. If Doja put out another hit record in November,
Starting point is 00:57:13 I could see that being a thing. Yeah, I would love to see those. But I don't know. I think it'll be a couple. I don't think, which was like a big thing before Jay-Z took over. I'm not saying it's bad or good. But it used to be a couple performers. It wasn't.
Starting point is 00:57:32 It wasn't rare to have that. I can't believe one year we got cold play, brutal Mars and Beyonce. Oh, yeah, that shit was insane. Like, what the fuck was that? Like, what the fuck was that? What the fuck was 2016, bro? Like, that shit was crazy. No, that half-time performance was incredible.
Starting point is 00:57:49 Yeah. When Bruno came from that side, then they did their West Side story shit. That shit was... That was such a good performance. Yeah. Well, we'll see. Everybody thinks it's probably going to be Jay-Z. I wouldn't be surprised.
Starting point is 00:58:00 I feel like if it wasn't going to be Jay-Z, whoever it was would have been announced by now or no? I mean, I think this is the year for him to do it just with... They usually announced it around October. Really? October, November, I think. Somewhere around there. is going to use the announcement.
Starting point is 00:58:17 Wait, who was last year? Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny, that's what it was. Baboonie. Well, I don't know. I could see them sandwiching some country in there. We don't watch regardless. And let's just all be fucking for real.
Starting point is 00:58:33 No, it depends. It depends on who it is. For me. What's the last time you didn't watch? It was definitely a artist that I was like, oh, cool, but I didn't really care to see them. this is what I I would like to talk to someone that like truly understands data and viewers because no matter if I'm streaming on my computer or I'm watching on my TV I don't care
Starting point is 00:58:58 if they announced someone was just going to be taking a shit at halftime even if I go into the kitchen I'm not turning my TV off the TV is still out that's true so that's where I don't even understand some I can see viewers going higher because certain people are like I'm not a football fan, but I'm like Bad Bunny. I know people tuned in just for the halftime shit. But it could never really drop below a certain number, right? Yeah. Who's turning their TV off?
Starting point is 00:59:23 Who's like, yeah, let me change the channel to watch something else for 16 minutes. I mean, well, Erica, Erica, Kirk got it done last year. Yeah, the Great America. Kid Rock got it done. America. I think it was the highest thing ever.
Starting point is 00:59:41 This is a sick world we live in. The sick is, by far. It's a sick world. Speaking of people that turned down the Super Bowl, FOMO went up on YouTube and on Apple. I saw. Not everything, but I did see yesterday that 10 songs went up. Outside Tweaking, True Bestie, New Bestie, Ho-Faze.
Starting point is 01:00:03 I'm spent, White Bone, Princess, classic road trips, and Cheetah Print videos are all on Apple Music now, which I think is cool. I like how Drake did it. the playlist form and you can just click it for the video. I think that's really cool. It makes things really easy because that is something that, yes, music videos with Apple music are right here, but I'm still very much a YouTube person when it comes to viewing
Starting point is 01:00:32 music videos. This style does give a cool incentive and our listeners can correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't seen it in this form before. this is cool where the entire playlist yeah or even if like let's say let's just use views because i'm on drake's page right now if i could get the controller video in this exact same album form right here like that'd be a cool interface now that i see this fomo playlist that i think ds could do because this to me this is really cool yeah it makes it super easy it's almost like a streaming playlist where can just go into the next one.
Starting point is 01:01:15 But YouTube got more, right, Ryan? I feel like they got... Yeah, they got Quebec here. Yeah, the Quebec joint, I like a lot. Yeah, that record's dope. And I wish that was on here, but I'm sure that has to do with, like, clearances and other things.
Starting point is 01:01:30 And then also the record with Don and Ella Langley. That wasn't on there as well. But do you think that'll ever hit DSB? The Choose in Texas cover? Oh, yeah, definitely. Definitely. That shit is definitely hitting DSP at some point. I think obviously, you know, with everything that Ella is doing on her own right now with the Chews in Texas, right? I think it's been number one for 22 weeks. She tied Mariah, right? I think he broke it this week. This week she breaks it. All I want for Christmas. Yeah. Mariah coming right back for that Christmas time. Don't trust.
Starting point is 01:02:07 She's coming right back. Yeah, y'all going to make her throw the ice out. Yeah. She's coming right back for that. But no. But even I think it was built. Someone tweeted out, I don't know if it was billboard or a count like that, that there was certain Mariah streams and data, they just stopped counting. Like, for the all I want for Christmas record? No, not even just that. Just certain records. Just certain records that, like, she has enough data where it would chart top 10 every single time.
Starting point is 01:02:34 They just don't count it. Oh, okay. Because it's like, okay. It'll be old-ass songs too. Yeah. So. Yeah. They do when they do put that on DSPs, though, that Don Tolliver, Drake, choosing Texas cover.
Starting point is 01:02:49 I like it. You know what all. You're going to stop hearing that one. What else had my hips moving a little bit? That Shibuzzi and Don Tulliver clip I saw. Oh, when they did a, what's the name's record over? Young Jock. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:05 No, you're talking about Gunna and. Gunna. I'm sorry. Gunna and Shibuzi. Yeah, that record is hard. Jop's record over, right? Yeah. My hips was moving.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Child of the Jock, he got a nice check. He got a nice check. I hope so. But if you know Young Jock's history of who Young Jack was signed to, I don't know, maybe since that gentleman's been in prison. Hopefully, Jock has a good, a nice payday coming to him. I mean, he deserves it. Yeah. But yeah, I like that record a lot.
Starting point is 01:03:33 I think that record is going to be very big this fall for sure. Right, right when you guys were all shitting on me, when I said Gunner should be higher, look at me. Hit record out the gate. I get it. Little baby could never. You'd be hating on my hand. I like Little Baby. I don't like the people that cheated on me over saying that gunner to me higher.
Starting point is 01:03:54 It'd be certain people you hate on. Little Baby. Wait. Little baby. Name one time outside of that list that I've ever, quote, unquote, hated on Little Baby. One time. You always said that little baby is overrated. And that people gave him.
Starting point is 01:04:04 Find it. Find it anywhere. Okay. I laughed at Charlemagne when he said we're entering the Little Baby era because I didn't think he had enough at that time of staying power. when you say era oh we're going into the Kanye era we go on the 50 era we're going to the Drake era I didn't think little baby had enough at that time to be like we in the little baby era that's crazy remember what Charlemais said the Drake era was over no I don't remember that I mean a lot of people
Starting point is 01:04:30 that was a consensus for a lot of people well he said that that was the same sentence he said the Drake era's over we're in the little baby era's over we're in the low baby yeah Drake is the only nigger that's making relevant music right now all these thing is y'all name when this is ever going to be over? Somebody tell. You can't say that drink is the only person making relevant music. And rap? Come in and say that Don Tyler had an album of the year and he's the hottest rapper.
Starting point is 01:04:54 I'm saying like, but Don Tyler was not really rap to me though. Like I get it. I understand they're going to categorize it as hip-hop rap. But like I'm talking about rapper. Rappers. Okay. Like, come on, man. Like, little baby.
Starting point is 01:05:08 All right. If you guys disagree with me, you're hating on a little baby. If they let Dirk out, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. If they let Dirk out what? If they let Dirk out, he's about to go crazy. I'm so excited.
Starting point is 01:05:21 Go crazy with what? With music. As far as what, though? Like putting out hits? Yes. Okay. I hope so. I want to see it.
Starting point is 01:05:32 You don't sound like you believe it. You don't sound like you believe in his ability to make hits. I mean, how many hit records does Dirk have? No, I don't know. Exact hit, exact number. What's your definition of a hit? Here we go. But Dirk makes.
Starting point is 01:05:45 There we go. Now, niggas. Because you can have a cultural, you can have a cultural hit. There you go. Break it down. Y'all putting a lot of cut on what I just asked. No, it's not a cut. It's a lot of bacon soda.
Starting point is 01:05:53 Y'all putting on this shit. How many hit records? Because I would- Does Dirk. He's had three top 10 hits. He's had 98 songs chart and three top 10 hits. But a hit on a chart and a hit culturally are two completely different things. There's top 10, top 10 hits, three tracks.
Starting point is 01:06:10 Laugh Now, Cry Later with Drake. All My Life Featureduring Jay Cole. by a lie. I'm just saying. Okay, but Dirk has sold out arenas. So, like, it's not act like he... Dirk has a following. Dirk has been... I'm talking about hit records. I hate to say, I hate this is going to be...
Starting point is 01:06:29 He does have hits in the streets. That's all I'm saying. You just talked about hits in the streets. Shout out to Al Shire. We just talked about hits. Like, I missed the days when I didn't know what song was number one on Billboard. I knew what the fuck I heard when I went outside around the people that I give a fuck about. Like, I don't like,
Starting point is 01:06:45 For example, I had never heard Chus in Texas one of the longest fucking songs in Billboard history, I had never heard it until you bought it up maybe a couple weeks ago. So like... That's because you ain't going to Bloomingdale's and Macies. That's what's up, but I'm not going to hear dirt
Starting point is 01:07:00 and Bloomingdale and Macy. You're doing too much online shopping. You don't even know the tunes no more. Remember used to go into stores and you could hear everything. Would you consider Back in Blood a hit song? Would you consider Back in Blood with Pushai's did hit record? Hell yeah. Didn't, what number did Back in Blood go?
Starting point is 01:07:14 I don't care about the way it's trying to my I'm to my hit record and that's a hit right that's me and Rory's point okay so when you bring it up oh he's only had to top through on billboard and Drake Sontool I asked you how many hit records does dirt
Starting point is 01:07:27 because you said he about to go crazy and I said as far as what you said yes he will so that's okay how many hit records does he have I like dirt personally I listen to dirt but I'm just saying I don't I don't go to dirt when I'm like you all want to hear
Starting point is 01:07:40 a bang I listen to dirt on some like it's just that energy that he brings. It's just like Ace Hood. It's just like me. It's like it's energy music to me. You understand what I'm saying? I'm not going to it like, yo, these records are incredible. It's just the energy of the record that I love. So yes, do I think Dirk's energy and momentum coming home? Oh, it's going to be incredible. So I agree with you that. But you said like a hit record and I'm just like, how many hits does he have? Well, hits to me. Hits for the streets. What number did Dreams and Nightmares go? I literally was just Googling that right now.
Starting point is 01:08:12 What's the highest that Dreams and Nightmares went? And, Maul, since I admitted that I'm becoming somewhat of a bad fan with how I view things, I think you should take this time to humble yourself and do the same and say that number one records don't necessarily mean anything. Dirk makes good music and has a huge falling to the point that he sold out arenas and just beat a murder case. It's going to be nuts. Anything he said.
Starting point is 01:08:37 I said number one songs. You asked, you asked what hit records he has. Yeah, it hits. I'm just asking for hit records. tell me the hits i didn't say weird place and all that i'm just saying weird what hit records that's crazy dreams and nightmares never never even enter a hot 100 that's a hit record it's a hit record i just asked you out of name the hits that's all when you came to dirk name me to hit records i listen to dirk like i'm on that side so i understand what y'all saying i never said that
Starting point is 01:09:07 numbers determine the hit you never heard me say that i was asking the name the hit records well As someone that thought Thug's return was going to be a bit better because Thug makes incredible music, I was a little disappointed. I'm not going to let that jade me. I have high hopes for Dirk when he gets out. Same. I do too. I think Dirk's going to go more in the gunner realm than he will with the young Thug realm as far as music goes on the return. Yeah. I'm just saying, history may show that if you rat, you might have a better chance to be.
Starting point is 01:09:46 making better music when you come home. I'm just saying with the history. We speak it to the history. Are you any other rat? Not what I think. Not what I think. This is not Marl's thoughts. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 01:09:58 And sitting back as being a consumer and a fan of the culture like everybody else, we're all consumers. The history will show that if you flip in your case and start telling it, you come home, they can't embrace you. You start getting all kinds of collapse. Shibuzi. you know, you get all them looks. You're supposed to be exiled from the culture,
Starting point is 01:10:24 but you start getting shit with all kind of collaborators. I hope everyone that listens can give me some grace with this next statement, Mall as well. To your point of maybe the rats make better music on their way out. We all looked at 6'9 like he was like, oh, fuck this guy. Those first two records, the second one with Nicky Minaj, both them records was fucking fire both they were
Starting point is 01:10:47 Tukasi made good music man I'm never afraid to say I'm just speaking to the history That first when when 6-9 put the He put the rat emoji on him was like Aha that record was crazy So I'm trying to tell you When you hold it down
Starting point is 01:11:02 The coach will hold you down The coach will stop me from going to the time I'm just saying I'm just saying I agree with it I'm just speaking to what we saw in the history of when certain people, you know, do certain things that we don't, don't align with what we were taught growing up, Rory. Remember you're using a tidal tell you getting trouble with being a title tell?
Starting point is 01:11:26 Nobody likes a title tell. Nobody likes a title tell except for Shibuzzi. Don't do that. What? He got a record with him. It's a good record. I like it. I'm just saying.
Starting point is 01:11:39 Shibuzi don't care about tattletails. Also, and I mean, the spectrum of snitching between Gunna and. and 6-9 is drastically different, but I hear what you're saying. I mean, some people would say radin is riding. I know. That's what I was told. A tattletale was a tattletail. And while that's not my world and I disagreed vocally with things that 6-9 did with like
Starting point is 01:11:58 the nipsy mural and stuff that nothing to do a crime, just nasty trolling shit. I would also be a liar if I said those first two records he put out after he ratted were not fire. They were. I tell a nigga don't dick ride. They were. They were. They were.
Starting point is 01:12:10 They were. And that Nikkiverse was crazy. like, yeah, he put out two great records after he read it. I'm just speaking to what we have been given. So I'm doing. It's my job here. Just giving you all the facts as best as I can. Sometimes I'll fall short.
Starting point is 01:12:29 Sometimes I'm going to be right. Yeah, but sometimes I'm going to be right. That's all I'm saying. Amen. We are not encouraging ratting. Never. Hell no. Never.
Starting point is 01:12:38 We're also not encouraging committing crime either. Never. Never encouraging ratting. Never encouraging. current and crime. I'm just saying it looks like if you do rat, life will be okay. Life will work out for you.
Starting point is 01:12:52 When before it was the worst thing in the world, now it might be part of a great marketing plan. I don't know. I don't know what's going on. Now you get a Twitch deal. Starting point is 01:15:06 and they complain about the very thing to receive. It's raw. I knew that the issue of transgender athletes was not going well with a lot of black men. Roland Martin unfiltered. I went off, I said, this is exactly what I'm talking about.

Catch Roland Martin's daily commentary on the Black Information Network. 12 seats, those are moving south. So if you Democrats, you don't wait to 2030, you better be hitting the ground going hard in the South now.
Starting point is 01:15:43 And download Roland Martin Unfiltered on the IHont Reefiltered on the IHont Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. Well, let's stay on music. I listen to the A. Z. Shike album on Sunday, and I listen to it in the gym this morning. I really, really like that album. I'm not sure what the internet was listening to, but I need to stop even looking at the internet when it comes to musical opinions at this point. That album is really, really good.
Starting point is 01:16:14 I like Chike. Shout out to A. Z. Chike. I was looking forward to this project. Little underwhelmed. But it wasn't as bad as I saw people trying to say it was. What were you? It wasn't as bad as I thought people trying to say it was. So let me be candid and not use my words wisely because all of the West Coast who I love and respect will just take it out of context and make it seem like I'm hating. I like G&X a lot. I like a lot of the traditional West Coast sound.
Starting point is 01:16:42 But having, you know, an hour worth of that straight in a row sometimes is not for me. the same way they could probably say the same thing about our music. I'm not around palm trees. So the one-on-one BPM stuff, the DJ head and everyone loves, I like it in certain settings, but I still like GNX. I thought maybe Shike was going to give us a GNX part two because that was so successful for them over there.
Starting point is 01:17:09 As far as the sound? Yes. That was not the case at all. And I think that's why I really, really like this album. It definitely has hints of that. A lot of the drums are very West Coast, but like beats like Sky Rockets. I fucking love that record.
Starting point is 01:17:22 Sky Rockets is so good. Mercy. I love the intro. God's favorite is more in that GNX run, which is cool. Need your love. I love with Jameson. Salute to Jameson. We already talked about the Tyler record.
Starting point is 01:17:36 Wonder, I think, is fire. Packed up uncountable conversations. I really do like this project. I think it's a good balance production-wise where you do obviously get the West Coast and who Shaik is as an artist and how he grew up, but it's not overly West Coast where somebody that didn't grow up right there
Starting point is 01:17:58 can still enjoy it. I think that Chike has a, he has a bright future. I think that this album is, again, I'm a little underwhelmed as far as what I was expecting, but sometimes my expectations are really high, so some of that is me too. But it's definitely not as bad as I've seen people trying to make it out
Starting point is 01:18:17 to be on the internet and it's nowhere near that the music is good uh raps can be a little stronger but i think that just comes with time and just getting better um but it's not a bad album at all though but i am interested to see how he where he goes from here because i see i i definitely see uh star quality in chike though hell yeah i think he is a star i really like the raps on this by the way i'm i think that he has um i think that he's he's likable i think that a lot of people fuck with him I think that a lot of artists are open to collabing and making music with him so I think that he has a bright future
Starting point is 01:18:55 ahead of him but it's some records on here that I like though that I fuck with just overall from top to bottom I just may have expected a little too much from him and again that's probably on me but it's not a bad album at all though just a little underwhelming for me but he had some moments on there that was
Starting point is 01:19:13 that was dope yeah I fuck with it and I actually thought the rats were a little better than I expected. On certain songs, yeah. Maybe you had higher expectations than I did, and I fuck with them, but I didn't, like, I wasn't going in, because I, you know, I saw the split decision on the internet now, which sucks of, this is about to be the new West Club, this is about to be the new good kid, Mad City, or this is about to be the worst thing that's ever existed.
Starting point is 01:19:39 Yeah, I wasn't putting it on that. Like, that's really where the internet lies. So I didn't really have expectations outside of the music I've heard from it before, I liked, but I thought, again, bringing Sky Rockets up, again, I thought his raps were great on the shit. I fucking know who he is. The music is good, though. I like the music. That's always kind of like my biggest critique of rappers these days. It's not like super lyrical miracle or I need any of that shit. I just sometimes don't even know who the fuck you are, not even rap, R&B2. I listen to a whole project and have zero clue of who you are or where you're at in your
Starting point is 01:20:15 life. And that's fine. Maybe that's a selfish fan thing, but I like that in music. Yeah. I learned everything about this guy from track one to 14. I thought it was great content, great lyrics. Like, I really fuck with this project. The production is good. Definitely got some good music on here. Got Farrell, Terrace, but of course Terrace did Sky Rockets. Um, Terris. Sorry, these lights, I can't, oh, can you read that better? I can't read from here. Um, Soundwave, M-Tech, Bongo, by the way. Hit Boy. Tyler, the creator.
Starting point is 01:20:53 Hit Boy, yeah. Sean Monberger. No, he got, it's music. The music is good on it. The music is strong. The music is strong. Some of the hooks was hit a miss, but that's, again, that comes with just getting better. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:08 But, um, I wasn't, I wasn't mad at it. It just, I expected it to be a little stronger than it is. But it's definitely not a terrible album or a track. crash out. I'm like I saw some people trying to make it out to be. What happened to the um to the Kendrick feature? What's the story on that? Um, I can only go off what T. Rowell said on his platform that Kendrick had been, because we saw the photo of him and Kendrick in there. Um, and T.rell had said that Kendrick was on there going at everybody and that it was about to get messy again. And then we saw videos of Kendrick in the studio with him, kind of coaching him,
Starting point is 01:21:49 guiding him. And then he put the track list out and there was no, there was no Kendrick. So he says, I sent the album to die and the song was called God's favorite. He like, God's favorite in the back is ratchet, like ignorant. Nah, we got to change that. That nigga pushed that shit up to track three, but he know what he doing. He like, they're going to want this from you for sure. I swear in his words, he said, Nick, you know how many money trees and cartoons and series, I had to take off my album. And after that, he had me beat. I ain't had nothing else to say.
Starting point is 01:22:22 So he said, he says, that's my boy. So I'm going to say, that's my boy. I love that dude. I ain't going to lie. So, yeah, we'll see. I was really just keeping my fingers crossed. And they still crossed. I don't know what could happen.
Starting point is 01:22:33 Them dudes are so spontaneous. The niggas are strict with the music, rightfully. I mean, all right, let's go off. I don't think T. I was trolling. And maybe that there is a verse that does exist that was on this album that had Kendrick diss and everyone. I kind of know your answer, Maul, but thinking in longevity, is that the Kendrick verse you
Starting point is 01:22:55 want on your album? No. Because I don't think I want that on. I know it's crazy to say not wanting a Kendrick Lamar verse on your album, but do I want another control, another like that? Like, that's going to be the moment. No one's going to talk about my album. So are you implying that maybe the verse was that and Chike took it off the album?
Starting point is 01:23:16 Because I can guarantee you, A. Z. Chike did not take a kick. No, no, no, no, no, no, absolutely not. Okay. I can see Kendrick. And again, we're going off with T. Relshead, friend of the show. I could see Kendrick going, I don't want to do this to him. This could fuck up his first, like, real moment as far as albums go. I know he's put out projects before, but coming off, GNX, like, this is, this is first real proper, proper album for the masses.
Starting point is 01:23:42 So there's a, there's a world where a Kendrick verse may not have even been real. may not have even been on the show. That also exists too. We really don't know. Of course we don't know. Yeah. Okay. And very spontaneous.
Starting point is 01:23:54 There was video. Clearly he was in the studio with him multiple times working on this project with him guiding him on some EP, whatever you want to call it. I can see Kendrick being like, oh, I hear something here. And that would inspire him to rap and not hearing that. Like, I'll see if I want to end up on it if I'm inspired. Yeah. There could be nothing.
Starting point is 01:24:13 Or there could be him dissing everyone and then him going, I don't want to give you this verse this is going to fuck up like the moment should be your album Or I mean not be disson Or also I could He could record a verse And then by the time the album's ready to come out
Starting point is 01:24:27 He in a completely different space He don't want that verse to ever be heard Which happens a lot Which is where Rick Ross made up that bullshit About French Montana I mean I hear you My shit come out at midnight Where are you at now?
Starting point is 01:24:39 Send another one I know you got something in the chamber Send it I hear you I feel like there's so much value in having Kendrick Lamar in the studio which you vibe in talking
Starting point is 01:24:51 and giving you advice. There's so much long term value in that pushing for wanting a feature I would just be like man Kendrick in here chilling vibe and he giving his opinion on this this is a top tier rapper top tier artistry like I'm taking a little nuggets and running I can sit in the studio and vibe with Jayzee all night
Starting point is 01:25:12 but if that nigga goes in that booth and lay something there. That's what changed my fucking life. This conversation, that's cool. Giving me the jewels and the gyms and all of that and I watch it. Lay this and say that, that's fire. If he's not in the space, you go in that booth and lay down a verse
Starting point is 01:25:27 for my album, that changes my life. That's life changing shit. Yeah, but also having someone that's put together in the modern era, some of the best bodies of work album-wise that we have seen, having that person in your corner guiding you is there's no, you can't. put a price tag on that. No. That's above even a vote. You know how hardless to put a
Starting point is 01:25:47 eye them together in 2026? I can't put a price tag on the verse either. Some more. Let's go. Why we talking priceless shit? Let's talk about how prices are JZ versus right now for artists. All right. What do you think? Obviously how prices are Drake versus for artists. How prices of Kendrick versus for artists. Talk about it. No, no, I hear you. But all right, that makes sense. I'm really not disagreeing with you. But like, all right, let's look at Keem's project. Obviously, King's family connection to Kendrick has been amazing for him. And we know Keem because of Kendrick, of course. But I think Keem's last project, I'm sure he would say the verse that Kendrick put on
Starting point is 01:26:22 that song is minuscule to Kendrick being in the studio and helping him and working with him to put that body of work together. I'm sure that's, that's, he would choose that over the verse that Kendrick has on Keem's album. Now, apples and oranges because Keem is an artist of Kendricks and he could probably get a Kendrick verse when he wants. different with that. But to have that guy in the studio with you to put your project together, I'm not going to be begging for a verse.
Starting point is 01:26:51 I'm happy that you hear helping me put this together. Yeah. If you don't hear nothing, I don't want to force it, because then you'll end up dissing somebody, and now this is about something else. Or the verse is not going to be great, and it's just going to be thrown together. And now you got a Kendrick first that nobody gives a fuck about.
Starting point is 01:27:08 We talking about his album, talking about it. We just been talking about it for, what, the past five, seven minutes, and there's no Kendrick verse. He did what he needed to do and we're talking about him. I like Shaik, though. I was looking forward to his album.
Starting point is 01:27:19 I think he's dope. Demare. The only reason I even wanted to talk about Kendrick on this was not even what T. Rell said. I like the song, Pekaboo. We told Shaq at the BT Awards. He was my favorite verse or feature on GNX. I remember you saying up.
Starting point is 01:27:34 I wanted to hear them again because I think they have good song chemistry. Like they sound good, their tone sound really good together. That's why I wanted them. I didn't want a Kendrick verse to him dissing everybody that talked about them. I wanted them to make a record.
Starting point is 01:27:46 Like, Pekabu is fired to me. And I'm sure a record will come. Yeah, hell yeah. We sitting here talking about it now. I'm just going to say, it's going to be interested to see what the tone is, what the conversation is, a year from now. That's all.
Starting point is 01:28:04 So I love what Chik is how he's saying, how he's saying on it, that man sits me in the studio, it gives me tools, boosts my music IQ, just dudes bigger than life, how the fuck he even make time me he's my friend it shows me you can always have a big heart no matter how big you all that do this grounded is phenomenal beautiful i get that i understand that i respect that i'm just saying
Starting point is 01:28:22 a year from today i would just like to know what the conversation is when you ask chite yo so what's up with kendrick how's your relationship but even still and that's another thing even if they end up not having a relationship it is not on kendrick lamar to have a relationship or have a feature on every single West Coast album. No, I'm not, I'm not saying that. You never going to hear me say that. I hate that internet. I hate that internet.
Starting point is 01:28:47 Like, that's like, I don't feel like, I don't feel like Kendra got to do a motherfucking thing. Like, I'm just saying I hear what Chike is saying now. Mm-hmm. A year from now. It might change. And if it does, then what does that mean? I want to hear what he got to say.
Starting point is 01:28:59 That's all. I just want to hear what he's told me. I don't give a fuck what he got to say about his relationship with Kendrick a year from now. Like, if he continues on with his career, he makes good music, then that's on him. If Kendrick helps him, doesn't help him, if they never speak again, that's what happens with human beings. Nah, that's, but then we're going to have another conversation.
Starting point is 01:29:17 We're going to have another conversation. I feel like you're putting something under a microscope that doesn't need to be under a microscope. I'm talking about what we've been given. If that's the case, if they're not cool a year from now, we're going to have another conversation. What would the conversation be? Let it be a year from now. Okay. But we're going to have another conversation.
Starting point is 01:29:35 If Chikes sit anywhere and be like, yo, I ain't spoke to died in a year. I don't know. I don't know what so would do. If that's the temperament a year from now, We're going to have another conversation. But I don't think it would, if that were to happen, I don't think it would because he didn't put a verse. I'm not saying, I don't know what it would be.
Starting point is 01:29:49 I'm just saying we would have to have a conversation about it. No, for the sake of conversation, while I completely disagree with you, for the sake of conversation, there is an unwritten verse swap rule in the world amongst especially rappers, even R&B artists. First swaps is a thing. That ain't. It's a thing.
Starting point is 01:30:11 But that's a thing. I'm disagreeing with more. I'm just saying. But verse, if we're going to do the unwritten rule verse swap thing, it needs to be an equal exchange when it comes to a verse swap. Kendrick, even
Starting point is 01:30:23 not even unwritten written on emails. This is a swap. That's a real term in the music book. I understand that, but it also needs to be an equal energy exchange. It needs to both, both hands need to be watching each other. Whether Kendrick is on AZ shit or AZ
Starting point is 01:30:38 is on Kendrick's shit, either way, it is helping AZ more than it is helping Kendrick. So that's not an even exchange. Well, verse swaps are not always in. They're not exactly people, but it's not me reaching all the way from the top, all the way down to pull some. I view verse swabs, B swaps, any of that shit is I don't want you to do unless you hear something and you're inspired by it and it's something you feel like you can deliver. Don't do it just to do it. I'll wait. We do a verse swap on my fifth album if you want. But that is a thing. Yeah, for sure. That does exist.
Starting point is 01:31:08 and I saw a bunch of lies on the internet that everyone thought was law, that the GNX paperwork was either take $5,000 or a verse swap, like a bunch of bullshit. But verse swaps are a very real thing in the world. For sure. So. But if there was nothing there. Shut out chike, man.
Starting point is 01:31:29 And honestly, I like the song, God's favorite that he's talking about on the record. I like where it's placed. I don't know where it was placed before, but it makes sense at number four. I've heard Kendrick on something like that before. I'm kind of happy that wasn't the one that was picked. Like I would have rather heard Kendrick on, shit, uncomfortable conversations. Maybe even the other Tyler record. I should keep going back to Skyrock.
Starting point is 01:31:59 Lambo truck. Keys, I would even like him on. God's favorite, I've heard him on that beat a thousand times. I'm glad Kendrick was not on that one. And don't waste a psychiatric verse on something I've heard them on. This is all just talk. I mean, we don't know
Starting point is 01:32:13 if there ever was really a verse if it wasn't. This is just rap, rap fan conversations. Yeah. I know we're not allowed to have those anymore, but this is just
Starting point is 01:32:23 people that are fans of music talking about a novel. I don't know. Maybe I'm going to listen to that album some more though this week. Listen to it in the gym. Yeah, I like Chike, man. I'm looking forward to him
Starting point is 01:32:36 how he maneuvers after this after this release. Yeah. Just a musicy-ass episode. Hey, go music. Go music. Go hip-hop. Go hip-hop is great.
Starting point is 01:32:48 All right. Staying on music, an alleged push-a-t-tie snippet came out. Obviously, push has been, I wouldn't say a press run, but it's been talking to a few people. He said he has a solo album produced by Farrell. This appears like this may be a snippet from that project where he's dissing Drake. of course that's the one that they'll pick because the internet is messy. We call you Susie Sue in the group
Starting point is 01:33:14 and dogs and this and that. Read it. Farrell goes, uh. Now, this album did if you were paying attention on Twitter leaked two weeks ago, the full album.
Starting point is 01:33:28 So the snippet coming out, yeah, they picked the Drake one because they knew that would be the one that would get the most traction. And it's not a push-a-treek thing. That's just an internet thing when it comes to disc records. But if you saw it,
Starting point is 01:33:39 a lot of comments under it was like, yeah, we all heard this album two weeks ago. It did leak on the internet. Now, if you're pushed, do you go back and re-record stuff? Do you start a new album? Or do you think, hey, it was just one side of the internet? Because we've watched, Maul, you know even better than me. Mob Deep Murder Music, they redid like half that album. We got, Nas lost tapes is one of my favorite projects. because half of I am, it was I am, right? Or Nostradamus got, Nostradamus maybe. I think Nostradamus.
Starting point is 01:34:17 Shit, we sort of know the story between Un and J when it comes to volume three. Before Napster, leaks were a thing, and they're still a thing. We've seen people re-record full albums. Is that something Push does? Or do you say, fuck it? I don't really care too much about the Susie Sue and this is just for clicks. on I care about full albums. Well, it says the clip has since been struck and taken down while some fans are questioning
Starting point is 01:34:45 whether the song is authentic or AI generated. If it was AI generated, it would not be taken down. You can't take down something that's not real. You have no copyright claim over it because you didn't create it. She makes a good point. Yeah, but even some of the AI shit that was like in the Drake and Kendrick battle, I feel like I'll take it down. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:35:09 Ignore me. No, Kendrick just had those. songs taking down. It was a real Drake. I set that up for you, my bad. No, those were, they said they was Kendrick A.I. Shamed they was real. They thought it was Tupac.
Starting point is 01:35:19 No. No, remember there was real like Kendrick AI records, Drake AI records? Not the ones that officially were part of the battle. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Those got taken down, though, no? I'm not sure I haven't searched for those songs. I think some people would joke and be like, oh, well, they were, the Kendrick ones were real. That's why they were taken down.
Starting point is 01:35:39 Yeah, to this. Push-a-T-Farrell record. Now, just being honest, I was sent an album almost a year ago. I don't know how long ago that was. I was sent an album almost a year ago and was told that this is the push-a-tee-for-all album. Now, play the album for you, Rory. And we spoke about it. I had the same sentiments.
Starting point is 01:36:00 I'm like, this is AI. Or this better be AI. Why? Because that is some of the worst music and worst rapping I've ever heard in my life. Now, when this song came out, that was one of the songs that was on now. It was. So now, listen, at the end, DeMaris makes a good point. But it's saying the clip has since been struck and taken down while some fans are questioning whether the song is authentic or AI generated.
Starting point is 01:36:25 So, Ball, I asked you a year ago, every time a song came on, I said, this is AI. This is not a right. I was praying it was AI. It was some of the worst music. But now the song is real because Farrell, Push It, just put out coffee, grinding coffee. That song was in the promotional video.
Starting point is 01:36:44 Yeah, with Farrell ending it, going, uh-huh. So is that to say the other 10 songs I have is real? I don't know. If it is, I'm just be real. I know people feel like I don't like push. I don't know push personally. I don't have an issue with him. Love Farrell, love push, love what the clips did to the culture.
Starting point is 01:37:00 I'm going to just be honest with y'all. Y'all better not put that album out. That is some of the worst music that y'all could ever have in your catalog. I like Pusha Tee a lot. I mean, I wouldn't say we're personally. No. We've been around each other, but I would say we personally.
Starting point is 01:37:17 I think he's a really nice guy, and I love Pusha T music. I love Clips music. For sure, absolutely. I did think that album was AI until the coffee grinder shit did. You thought it was AI because the music is bad. It just didn't feel like this was something Ferell and Push were put together. At all. Again, that could be an early version.
Starting point is 01:37:36 who knows just because we heard the snippet in the coffee grinder shit and this. That's the very... Where that could... Maul, you played that like a year, maybe more than a year ago. It's like a year, yeah. Maybe a year ago.
Starting point is 01:37:48 Yeah, it felt like an AI album. Some of the features felt like they were AI too. Yeah. So that's why I wasn't particularly sure where that was. That was so bad. I think I deleted it out of my phone. because I was like
Starting point is 01:38:07 this is fake I really feel like it's not I feel like it's not real but then when I hear this song on the grinding promotion on the on the commercial I'm like oh shit
Starting point is 01:38:19 the new venture this is this is a real song yeah that album is not good I listen because that part of the commercial was definitely on that album
Starting point is 01:38:28 I listen could be an early version though it could have revamped it could be things changing things taking off whatever they said i didn't i didn't i didn't listen to whatever album they're saying leaked two weeks ago i didn't listen i didn't get a chance to either but uh even people i know in group chats were like yeah no we heard it but it disappeared the link but yeah it leaked but let's just talk about this probably
Starting point is 01:38:48 the music we heard let's just talk about this record that that that was out and since take it down okay that song was bad like that it's just not it's just i don't care who he's dising i don't kid. I didn't even get to any of that. I didn't start breaking down bars and all. I'm just listening to the music. And I'm just like, bro, this is not, this doesn't even sound good. Okay, I can, I can only say this because this is on Twitter. It's out there. It's not like we're breaking the news here. The AI artist I was talking about, there's a weekend feature on that leak. And I thought it was a AI weekend thing. But clearly the people that heard this leak as well on Twitter, this is on September 19, 2026, features likely AI in parentheses, the weekend vocals. I thought it was,
Starting point is 01:39:29 was an AI weekend too when you played it for me a year ago. It didn't sound like, I was like, this is AI weekend. It's terrible. That shit sounds terrible. And that's why I'm like, this can't be real because we don't know Pusher and Farrell to collab and make bad music. That's why I'm like, this can't be. They're batting a thousand.
Starting point is 01:39:50 Yeah, this, this, this, that can't be. I'm on the side of that can be real. But they used it in the fucking grinding coffee. A part, but it was a part of it. we don't know what we heard or what leaked last week is what the final one is. Even if they used a small snippet on that grinding commercial or even this leak. But I'm fine talking about it now because everyone seemed to have the same response that I did a year ago of going, this is AI. Yeah, no, that doesn't sound good at all.
Starting point is 01:40:21 And I'm on the side of it is AI. When I first heard, listen to it, I said, this is not a real album. This is, this is AI. And to anyone thinking we're fucking with people's livelihoods or anything, this leaked. Mall played us this a year ago, as he said. We never spoke about it, period. Ever. We never spoke about it.
Starting point is 01:40:41 And knew it existed. Never sent it to the internet. I feel like we're okay to speak about that. I still never said it to Rory. Like, I never sent it to nobody. Well, okay, respectfully, I didn't want it. You didn't want it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:50 I mean, fair. But it's like I never sent it out. I never spoke about it publicly because I just listened to it. and was like, this is not a real, this is not a real album. Because again, I thought it was, it was an AI joint or something that was like maybe a trick because Farrell was yelling all over it. I just assumed maybe, remember when people used to throw like, this is for promotional use only over shit?
Starting point is 01:41:15 I thought Farrell was like, sometimes artists do this, especially with Dropbox, Drake for a long time. There was Dropboxes where he would upload and everyone would have it. even know. They'll throw out feelers to see who's leaking shit. Yeah. All right, I'll put together six AI records and let me send it out to the group chat. Let's see where this goes. This ain't real. Let's put out bad dope just to see who's the one leaking it. I thought maybe that's what it was. But then we get the grinded commercial. Once we get that, it's like, oh, this is a, this is real. this is a real thing like so again that's just one song to rory's point that's just a snippet in a video we don't know if the song changed if whatever but obviously the album leaked the song with the weekend allegedly is there but people feel like it's AI it feels AI it sounds AI it just doesn't sound like the pushy and feral energy and combo that we are used to it just doesn't feel or sound like any of it. that so if that is it though again much respect to push much respect to feral if that is in fact real
Starting point is 01:42:31 y'all got to get back in there and rework that because that's the the people are not going to clearly they're not going to like that and and i know they won't clip this part of the entire thing but i do think there's a world where maybe somebody got a hold of a dropbox of them starting a project with ideas and added the AI shit to it? Yeah, and this is not, this was just start, yeah, there may be similar lyrics to what we heard, i.e., the grinding
Starting point is 01:42:58 commercial, but that ain't the album. Like, they were starting on some shit. I hope so. Plenty of times, I'm sure Farrell would do a little fork out, put something, and push would wrap his ass off, and Farrell would change the beat completely. He wrapped on just the drums, and then it's a whole different beat.
Starting point is 01:43:15 Like, I do think there's a world, because again, this was a year ago. I forgot I even had that until you, until that came out and you said it to my phone. He was like, oh. He's like, no, that shit is real. I was like, no, I had completely deleted that from my data. Like, from my data history.
Starting point is 01:43:33 Like, I was like, I'm never listening to that. I'm never pressing play on that again. That is a fake album that's not real. But then again, we get the grinding commercial end. It's like, nah, man. Yeah. And this is no push hate. This is no for real hate.
Starting point is 01:43:46 I have high hopes. I don't think that that's the final project, especially a year old. What clip is that? Mall know about this this the whole time, huh? You're like, uh-huh. Oh, that, oh, though, for a real. Okay, well, we'll break the fourth wall a little bit.
Starting point is 01:44:03 We have been walking around this office for a year, yelling, uh-at each other. So maybe Mall just said that in passing because we have been yelling that at each other. Yeah, maybe that's what it was. If you type in UGH with Matt H's in our group chat, a lot of stuff will come up. A lot of stuff will pop up for sure. But I mean, either way, I'm still here for push a tee and. You're going to the rodeo?
Starting point is 01:44:35 Oh, my bad. Yeah, I thought that was a, he was going to the rodeo. That's different. Well, you just slowed it. I thought he was riding an angry bull. When is the rodeo in Houston? Like that weekend? It's the spring break weekend.
Starting point is 01:44:52 It's like the weekend of March 21st. I'm going next year. Because Don got to be performing, right? What? There's no way Don doesn't do the rodeo next year. Choos in Texas there? Ooh, baby T. It's going to go off.
Starting point is 01:45:04 It's going to go off next year. Yeah, I'm going. Fuck that. March 22nd. Well, that was last year. Yeah. March 2nd to, oh, that was last year. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:15 It's usually like March of. But March, though. So this year's going to be second to the 21st. The second to the 21st of the next year. Yeah, I might not do all 19 days, but they're going to see me full five. I feel like we should record for a week down there. That's what you feel like? Look what the marriage feels like.
Starting point is 01:45:33 I'll come down there for like two days with y'all. I feel like that. You feel like, yeah, maybe. Maybe we should go out there for that. Dress up like cowboys and cowgirls. You're going to wear your assless chaps? Yeah. See, this is.
Starting point is 01:45:48 She'd be trying to tempt me to go there with her. I'm not going to go there with you. No. No, de Maris. I won't be wearing assless chaps. No. Sorry to disappoint. We wear pants and then put the chaps.
Starting point is 01:45:57 I'll just wear my jeans, my denims. Oh, they're going to know you from New York. Why? Because I got, my ass ain't out. No. I thought you meant like you was going to dress like how you regularly dress. No, I'm having my denim's, my cowboy boots on the hat. I'm going to give them the whole thing.
Starting point is 01:46:13 You have an upside down cowboy hat? Yeah. Have to. Absolutely. Absolutely. You're fucking right. Wasn't one of the village people a cowboy? What are you trying to say? I'm just, she said, you know you're from New York.
Starting point is 01:46:23 There was an Irishman in the village. They was probably all Irish. Were the village people really from New York, though? I don't know. Probably. They probably met at a fucking bar right there on fucking West 6th Street. In Tompkins Park or some shit. Let's fucking make a groove, man.
Starting point is 01:46:41 Oh, one of them one guy can't, you can't dress like a Native American. No, they would get canned. Because you know they called him like Indian. They were formed in New York, New York on 1977. Their name comes from Greenwich Village. Yeah, well, you know that part, the village, but New York staple, man, YMCA, where all the boys play. Can't go to the Yankee game without hearing it. You know the history of that?
Starting point is 01:47:07 The village people? The history of why YMCA is played during the seventh inning stretch. No. So Manhattan College, where my dad attended, the, um, like main priests, the Jaspers, the priests decided that at the seventh inning, they should play the village people. Do with that what you will.
Starting point is 01:47:28 I'm just telling you the history comes from the priest at Manhattan College started the YMCA being played at the seventh inning stretch at Yankee Stadium. What? Do with that information what you will. That's the most random piece of information I think I've ever gotten.
Starting point is 01:47:45 Well, you're not a jasper. That's true. but yes it comes from priests and uh songs about kids at the ymca all right i'm just letting you know google says nothing about that that is rory's personal story that's a fact playing wising the service station is primarily the famous tradition of new yorkes it started in the late 90s early 2000s after team executive saw fans and players dancing to the disco song during spring type and who invented the seventh inning stretch leading them star star star brander to have the ground's crew dress up in costume and lead the
Starting point is 01:48:18 crowd an iconic arm movement dance. Yeah, Rory, I don't know. I think your dad might have told you that one night when he had a little too much of the sippy sip-sip. He might have made that one up. Brother Jasper. Who invented the seventh inning stretch? Brother Jasper from Manhattan College, the athletic director.
Starting point is 01:48:39 The exact origin of the seventh inning stretch. Shut up! It's unknown, but two popular stories credit, either Brother Jasper or President. William Howard Taff. Crazy. Who was brother Jasper? He was the athletic director
Starting point is 01:48:54 and coached Manhattan College in New York. True. During an 1882 game against a professional New York Metropolitan's, he noticed the student crowd getting restless and noisy
Starting point is 01:49:04 during the 7th, 1882? Fucking, wasn't even out yet. What the fuck are we talking about? He was at a Mets game. That's all. So it wasn't even out yet.
Starting point is 01:49:16 Probably the polo grounds. So maybe he invented the seventh, In this stretch. I know. And I'm telling you that's the song. But they would start to play YMCA based off the seventh inning stretch. And that's where. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:49:27 I mean, yeah, Brother Jasper might have invented the seventh inning stretch with the song YMCA being played. It's just ironic the song that they picked. That's all I'm saying. Oh, no. Listen. Okay. Now that I see the correlation you're making, got you.
Starting point is 01:49:38 Brother Jasper in 1882, he did not know the village people. So okay, all right. I get what you say. We can cut all of this out. No, we're keeping that. All right. Fine. Demarison has done this 10 times.
Starting point is 01:49:49 She wants to go to the rodeo March 2nd. Sorry. Yeah, I know I'm good at riding. Bull riding. You are. I am good at a bull riding. We saw your highlights. That bull is, they say, you know, they said that bull ain't been the same.
Starting point is 01:50:05 I'm sure he hasn't. But yeah, I think you broke it. He broke the bull. I hear he still texts you to this day. After midnight, just be hitting you up. You know, you in L.A.? Oh, you know, Demaris is crazy. Can we just wrap up, bro?
Starting point is 01:50:29 Only DeMarons will go to that restaurant and get on that bowl. And not fall off and then go sit down and start eating some mozzarella sticks. Love that. No hands, too. Oh, man. All right, well. Good seeing you beautiful people today, man. Hopefully we covered everything we were supposed to.
