Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston. President Trump is suggesting that his administration has reached an agreement with China on the social media app, TikTok. NPR's Franco Ordone's reports Trump is expected to speak with Chinese president Xi Jinping later this week. President Trump posted on social media that a weekend meeting between the United States and China went very well. He wrote a deal was reached on, quote, a certain company that young. people in our country very much wanted to save. TikTok is facing a deadline this week to either divest its U.S. business or face a shutdown of the social media app in the country, though Trump was expected to extend the deadline as he has several times before.

Trump said he would be following up with President Xi on Friday. He did not give specifics on the deal, but said that young people will be very happy.
