Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor Johnston.
President Trump is suggesting that his administration has reached an agreement with China on the social media app, TikTok.
NPR's Franco Ordone's reports Trump is expected to speak with Chinese president Xi Jinping later this week.
President Trump posted on social media that a weekend meeting between the United States and China went very well.
He wrote a deal was reached on, quote, a certain company that young.

TikTok is facing a deadline this week to either divest its U.S. business or face a shutdown of the social media app in the country,
though Trump was expected to extend the deadline as he has several times before.
Trump said he would be following up with President Xi on Friday.
He did not give specifics on the deal, but said that young people will be very happy.
Trump has repeatedly credited TikTok with helping him do better with the young vote.

Just a short time ago, Treasury Secretary Scott Besson, told reporters that there's a framework in place for a TikTok deal.
Investigators are working to learn more about the motive behind the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The governor of Utah says the suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is not cooperating with authorities, but his roommate is.

So this person who is called a roommate in the suspect's probable cause affidavit was also, quote, the governor here, a boyfriend who was transitioning from male to female.
We don't know any more than that right now or whether transgender rights had anything to do with Kirk's assassination.

week. Stocks on Wall Street opened higher this morning as investors wait for a federal reserve
decision this week on interest rates. NPR, Scott Horsley reports the Dow rose about 53 points in
early trading. The Fed is widely expected to order its first interest rate cut of the year this week
in an effort to shore up the sagging job market. The Senate is set to vote this evening on President
Trump's latest pick to serve on the Fed's governing board. If he's confirmed, White House economist
and Trump ally Stephen Myron could join the Fed meeting, which begins tomorrow.
It's still not clear whether Fed Governor Lisa Cook will take part in the meeting.
A federal judge temporarily blocked Trump's effort to remove Cook from the board,
but the administration's asking an appeals court to reverse that decision by this afternoon.
Tesla shares opened higher after CEO Elon Musk increased his stake in the company by about a billion dollars.
