Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe - Grape Therapy: “Bachlorette” Premiere Playbook with Jason Tartick (not a standout)

Episode Date: October 21, 2021

Kaitlyn has Jason join her to recap the premier episode of Michelle’s season of The Bachelorette since he made an “appearance” on the episode anyways! The obvious hot topic being the di...scovery by Kaitlyn and Tayshia of the folder of “Bachlorette” do’s, don’ts and strategic plans researched by Ryan… and maybe a friend’s sister’s aunt’s cousin who also helped put them together? But numbers guy and terrible-name-rememberer, Jason, reveals his own spreadsheet notes he made on Becca’s season while Kaitlyn says her diary basically just read “I’m going to get engaged!!!!”. The two recap the array of limo entrances the guys prepared for Michelle, why the heck it was so dang bright during the rose ceremony, how far they think Joe might go after ghosting Michelle and the massive flight of stairs Michelle had to climb an endless amount of times. The two also finally give an update on their wedding plans... and Jason leaves everyone hanging with what seems like a must hear confession. Starting point is 00:03:45 Drink to your confessions and hear what you have to say about anything Bachelor. Let's shake it up some more. Here's Caitlin. All right. Welcome to Great Therapy. I'm your host, Caitlin Bristow. The guy had a major cameo, so I obviously had to get him on the pod to do the premier episode recap with me. I mean, one of the men had trained to emulate him because he's not your typical. Something, something, I don't know. It was blurry. I don't remember what it said. And because he also wasn't a standout. L.O.L. But in a good way, I know he meant. So my Honeybuns, Sugar Plum, Snookums, Snookums, Jason, joins me to to give us some insight on how he made such an impactful impression on his season of The Bachelorette and to give some major tips to these guys on Michelle's show because you shit, the woman is confidante, okay? And I am all for it. We also share a little bit more on where wedding plans
Starting point is 00:04:41 are at and how the Buffalo Bills versus Nashville game went. What's up, Jay? Thank you for having me on. So I think it said, by the way, because I know in your intro there, you were like not your typical. I think it said nice. your typical bachelor yeah it said not your typical bachelor and that it said didn't stand out wasn't a standout but that was in my opinion there's good ways of standing out and bad ways of standing so i think he meant you didn't stand out in a bad way yeah yeah yeah well you know we'll take that well we'll go glass half full is that yeah i mean look at me who to emulate from the show jason tardock
Starting point is 00:05:20 not your typical bachelor it said oh it did it cuts out here business and As a financial advisor, wasn't a standout on the show. All right. I got to ask you the million dollar question. I know it's your podcast. But it's a question. So a lot of my buddies actually watched it last night. They're dying laughing.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Of course, they're having some fun with it and chirp it. But they would all say, hey, at least you're on top of the list of who to emulate. I'm like, okay, take the go with the bed. They all want to know. And I don't know if you could talk about this. But 90% of them think it was planted. Oh, I know. I saw that all over social media.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Yeah, and I have something to say about that. I actually want us to talk a lot about that. But wait, what do you mean take good with the bad? I don't take any bad out of that. Out of that whole thing? Oh, a lot of people are like, yeah, wasn't standout, right? Like, it was kind of like boring, basic, wasn't a noticeable underdog, not your typical bachelor. I think that's bad.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Not like your, you know, doesn't fit the mold type thing. I don't see that as a bad thing at all. Oh, well, I love that. Yeah, I really know. Okay. Good. Yeah. That's nice.
Starting point is 00:06:22 I remember reading the documents. I love that we're calling it documents. The document. I love reading these notes that he had. And when I saw people to emulate Jason Tardick, Zach's name was also on there. Zach Clark was? Well, you could see on the list. So it said, my name.
Starting point is 00:06:39 And then it said you could see. It was a kind of scribbled. It said Mike Johnson. And it said, like, Mike has a lot of swagger. Yeah. And then it said Blake Horsman, but it was totally fuzzied out. You can barely see it. But those are the three you could see.
Starting point is 00:06:51 So who else was on there? The only other ones I remember was Zach, and they said people to emulate, and he was on the list. And then what else was, did you read the- We were like, we picked two good ones that people want to be like them. I think this guy, I mean, like, if I was going to give, sing it girl, if I was going to give this guy any advice, I would say, get those notes and get them published because I want to know every word that was on there. So can you tell us what else was on there? That would probably go against the contract. If you told us or if he published it. No, if he published it and tried to make money off it.
Starting point is 00:07:23 That's true. I'm sure you'd get a little slap on the hand. I should have him on the podcast. You should absolutely have him on the podcast. What? Tell me more. Okay. I'm going to keep digging. I'm not taking over.
Starting point is 00:07:35 First of all, I will say that anyone who knows anything about Bachelor contracts, I don't want to say too much, but there is. I'll say because I'm not contracted. I've gotten a cease and desist. Yeah, I mean. When Dean and I talked about like money that we were making, We weren't, that was against, I didn't know that was against rules, by the way. I wasn't intentional.
Starting point is 00:07:54 No, but I'm saying their rules where they can actually check your bags. Producers, people who run the show can check your bags. Of course. Yeah, well, they should. Exactly. What if someone, like, I mean, they should check your bags. What if you had, like, a weapon or something? Or what if you had, like, a master plan to do, like, something horrible?
Starting point is 00:08:09 Yeah. Or drugs or something. Like, every bag should be checked. Plus, they have to. It's like, it's actually, like, contractually obligated for them to have the right to do that. Yes, and they need to make sure you're not bringing secret phones, you know, like to give spoilers. Like, they really have to check. As they should.
Starting point is 00:08:29 I would agree with that. This was not planned. In fact, I remember a producer saying this shit writes itself because he cannot deny those documents were there. Well, that's the thing now I think everyone should know. With social media, every season, we see people are like, I was edited the wrong way. I'm going to go on this podcast and say everything. he would 100% come forward and be like I didn't say that he isn't I think he actually made fun of himself he did and here's the thing about Ryan I write everything down you're a big checklist guy you make freaking spreadsheets for everything and that's what I think he's very much like that I think he makes spreadsheets I don't think that's a bad thing I think he was writing down plans I don't think that's a bad thing he was manifesting things if you will I don't think that's a bad thing but well what I will completely completely disagree with was he had his dream women on that sheet and not one of them looked
Starting point is 00:09:25 like Michelle. Interesting. He said his celebrity crush was Chriselle. Chriselle with a bigger, if she had a bigger ass. What? Yes. So there are other things on there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:40 And that is why. I was just going to come in like kind of potentially defend the guy to be like, well, everyone thinks about what they want to do. But then if that was on there. yeah that was on there and other things like so no wonder like he said Michelle read that was probably like this guy yeah and you're out of here and that his ideal woman would have no baggage like who doesn't have baggage um no anxiety or something now okay don't take this word forward because i might be wrong it was something like no baggage i think it was anxiety and i said
Starting point is 00:10:13 you're trying to date in 2021 and you want a girl without anxiety so there were really big red flags. Male, female. Everyone has insane. So a lot of people came after us and were like, that is so disrespectful. You went through their stuff. No, all of those contestants know you have every right to go through
Starting point is 00:10:30 their stuff. We also didn't go through his stuff. It was right out on the table. Opened. We did not go digging in his suitcase bag to find a note or to see, you know, it literally was a red binder, do it in whatever folder document.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Oh, I got a question. It was just sitting on. the table. Okay, I got a question. He said to Michelle that his friends, I believe he said wife or fiance or girlfriend, his friend's wife, fiance, a girlfriend, one of the two is the one who wrote it. That's absolute bullshit. I mean, it was. Is there any, based on someone who is you, you yourself, has read the whole thing. Was there any bit of it that could have been her? No, it was all written in the first person. Well, could it have been like she was listing. It was actually her that said like you would emulate these guys here's who they are but he and it could be
Starting point is 00:11:22 i would like to hear his explanation because i was so like alarmed by some of the things in there that i would and if that wasn't him that wrote that well then we can have a different conversation and that's the thing about tv we only get one side of things i but for me we get two sides of things but there's always the other person's side yeah i okay i remember i'm kind of embarrassed that even admit this but the only thing like even like I don't know like drop of a blood close related to this is I remember when I'm bad with names so I had a journal and I would write throughout the course like who was still left and I would write who went home and then I would write like who I thought based on my observation was like like like really really tight with with Becca at the time
Starting point is 00:12:09 and who like who like who I thought would like like who was competition you know like who That's some spreadsheet shit. Who do I think is going to come up? Yeah, I was like, like, I remember I was like, oh, I think Blake and Becker are going to get married. So, like, brace yourself type thing. That's so bad. Yeah, but that was, it wasn't like comments like. You were like, she'd be my dream girl.
Starting point is 00:12:28 She had a bigger ass. No, I was literally just the name of the people that were left, who got roses and like who I thought were like in the top that probably could have had a better connection. See, my journal was like, I think he really likes me. And wait, the best part about my journal, too, is that. remember because I didn't get a one I wanted to like deep so I always kept putting myself in like the bottom three I'm like yep this is the week I'm going home this is it and Caitlin's like I'm gonna get married I was I was like this is the but you got one-on-one early right like you had pretty early yeah yeah lay bloomer went unnoticed well that's okay I don't think you went on notice
Starting point is 00:13:08 okay not gonna lie summer definitely took a toll on my hair especially filming and plus just getting back out in the real world, having to style my hair again. The thing is with the whole Ryan situation and then we'll move on to the next thing. People need to stop saying that we were inappropriately going through things and that it should be illegal and that it was disgusting behavior. No, it stops down. up for him and his disgusting behavior. I would like to know his side of the story with, because he kind of backtracked.
Starting point is 00:15:17 He was like, my friend's wife wrote it. I want to know who that is and if that's true. And I want because then he backtracked and he was like, well, like he was saying he wasn't a fan of the show. And then on the show, it's like every episode, blah, blah, blah, like he studied. Like he was contradicting. You went on in 2015. I went on in 2018.
Starting point is 00:15:36 We can both speak to the fact that every huge. that walks there and goes there and packs there knows that their stuff will be searched and gone through before you enter the whole entire show because for protection of the show they have to yeah and no one no one ever i've never heard one person argue it you can't you know that's it's literally in the contract so that's the thing and then also people were like why would you ruin michel's first night and tell her this so here's other part of it tasha and i went back and fourth because we had searched many, many guys' rooms
Starting point is 00:16:13 to be a funny bit. It was a funny bit we were going into one guy's room smelled so bad. What it smelled like? Well, to give him the benefit of the doubt, it just smelled like bad food and he maybe just ordered food. There's one guy there's hair from like shaving his face all over the sink
Starting point is 00:16:29 and like toothpaste gunk. And like some of the guys were super clean. Chris G from Canada, his bed was made in his hotel room and everything was like spotless. Chris G. Yeah, he was so clean. Okay. But with Ryan, we wanted, okay, we went back and forth with Tasha.
Starting point is 00:16:47 We were like, should we tell her right off the bat, do we let her see if there's even a connection? Because maybe there's not and she'll just be like, now this guy, blah, blah, blah. We had noticed this document before we even like started the whole first night. So we had gone back and forth so many times because we didn't want to ruin her first night. but we also are there to protect her feelings we also want her to have her own journey and figure out her villains for herself maybe she likes someone but when we were really thinking about it saying this guy's dream girl looks nothing like her he was using derogatory terms like i wish he had a bigger ass we are like oh i think she actually likes him we should tell her so she can see those documents
Starting point is 00:17:29 for herself and then move on if we see a lot of the villain stuff it's usually when we're watching back or when she's already sent someone home and then we meet up with her and she tells us that we saw with our own eyes we wanted to let her know she's glad we let her know so everyone else that's upset about it don't be upset because michelle was glad yeah and i think listen listen we live in 2021 you analyze you as tasha's hosts you and tasha aren't there as hosts because you're these differentiating professional television hosts who've been doing it for 20 years what differentiates you guys is that you guys have been there that That is what's so unique about you two doing it.
Starting point is 00:18:06 You've been in her shoes. You have seen really bad situations. You've seen good situations. And while you are hosting the show, you're also looking out. You're an extension of her to look out for her best interest. And so given the role and differentiated fact that you guys have brought to the show, which has been so much fun to watch because it's something we haven't seen yet, is exactly that. How could you see that and read that, knowing your role and knowing that you've been in her shoes and not tell her that? You have to.
Starting point is 00:18:34 You have no choice in my opinion. I think the other second thing that's interesting is when I was in that position, I could never get comfortable in those rooms because every now and then there'd be a producer knocking. And I'd be worried about the impression I would make on a producer. Like, you know, like, is your room a mess? Are you sleeping? Like, did you just take a poop and it like reeks? Like that was, did that?
Starting point is 00:18:56 Did you ever think about that though? Because you don't know when they're going to knock and come. I unleashed the poop dragon one day. and then Lacey from casting came by and I was like, well, there's nothing I can do. Lacey's is like beautiful, put together and all and she's like so sweet. But I mean, she probably deals with that all the time.
Starting point is 00:19:13 I'm sure this happens all the time. But I just owned it. I was like, sorry, don't go in there. That's hilarious. Yeah. I mean, at the end of the day, he just shouldn't have had. I got a question for you. You're the co-host of The Bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:19:27 You saw what Ryan did. You saw what he went through. will we see Ryan on Bachelor of Paris? Absolutely. Really? I didn't think that until other people started saying it. And then they're like, come on, why wouldn't he? And I was like, actually, yeah, my question is not if he will go or not.
Starting point is 00:19:44 My question is, will he be the guy that gets a redemption? Because he's a good-looking guy. Very good-looking guy. You think he'll get a redemption? I don't. That's my question. Because, you know, how some villains get there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Let's make a bet. It's on audio. We like to keep our things in audio. I'll bet you sushi dinner at Oku. He doesn't go on Paradise this summer. Really? I don't think he'll be invited. Oh, I do.
Starting point is 00:20:07 I'll bet you, yeah. I feel like odds are in your favor, but bets on. The odds are forever in life. Okay. Squicking. No. Oh, hungry game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Red light. Also, we need to discuss the stairwell that Michelle had to go up and down. My legs hurt watching it. I actually had to go up and down that stairwell. Okay, when she was walking into the room. Beautiful, though. Oh, my gosh. It was gorgeous.
Starting point is 00:20:29 Her dress. The dress was killer, too, by the way. Which she was in so much pain. That was a heavy, itchy dress. See, these are the things we don't think about. It was heavy and itchy and, like, like, cutting into her sides. What's a dress like that way? Oh, it was heavy.
Starting point is 00:20:43 It was heavy. Come on, really? Uh-huh. It was gorgeous. Carrie did an incredible job dressing her and us, if I just saw myself. But she looked like a vision coming down those stairs. And then I had to do the stairs to bring in the first impression rows. And I was like, damn, this is like a long.
Starting point is 00:21:00 awkward hall because they're all staring at you and you're like just give me a minute and 20 more stairs and do you do to do it's it was a long staircase but she made it look like it was a runway all right I got another question I'm sorry that I'm drilling you with the questions I like I feel like in this specific scenario I'm actually the voice of the viewer where because I've been these are things I think about where during rose ceremony like where are Caitlin like you watching the rose ceremony no we're not watching we We are in like a little back room. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:33 But you're on set. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Because we're waiting behind the wings to say this final rose. Okay. And then we already kind of touched on this on Instagram last night, but I do want to know the specifics. Was it the room or was it? Because, listen, typically, okay, cats out of the bag.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Everyone knows. The first row ceremony, oh, uh, ends usually around 8 a.m. Everyone knows that. Yeah. But why was it so light? Why was it so bright in there compared to the mansion or almost. any other row ceremony we've seen. Well, the mansion is set up for television.
Starting point is 00:22:04 It's like you have different rooms to go and you have different areas to go. Yeah, it's been used for 20 years, of course. Yeah, and then the sun usually rises in L.A. at like six. Okay. But in that time, you're still doing the rose ceremony inside the mansion. Got it. So it's all blacked out. It's dark.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Sure. And so everyone's standing there waiting to get their rose. Then when they go outside to like, do their goodbye like they're like yeah i'll find love someday it's light out and everyone's like what the hell this we just saw it be light out the whole time because we're in a lobby that was all windows like ceiling to okay so you're just there's no but i'm surprised they didn't like you know how you can black out the windows and we yeah we did that in in katie's season at the hotel there yeah that's true i think there's just way too much too many windows to cover going on the record by
Starting point is 00:22:58 saying that was the lightest, brightest. Like, I've never seen that much light in the eyes. What a statement. What a statement. Here's another record. Intros, limo entrances. I read that 70% of the limo entrances were gimmicks. You are such a numbers guy.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Like, where do you see these things? Bachelor data. It's a great, great, great follow. Oh, okay. Well, yeah, that was a, there was a lot of gimmicks, but they were good ones. That was kind of one of my favorite night ones I've seen in a long time. What was your favorite entrance? Okay, let's talk about that.
Starting point is 00:23:30 Better Nate the Never. 6-8-Nate with a dad joke. I thought that was cool. Okay. Didn't love the Romeo, you could be my Juliet, way too predictable and cheesy. Yeah. But he did speak like three different languages, which was awesome.
Starting point is 00:23:43 I know my favorites. I'm waiting to see a few. Okay. Clayton with the yardstick. Okay. No, teacher stick, I called it. I thought that was half-ass. Oh, I liked it.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I thought he was going to bring out the ruler to measure his We're... Hammer? Yeah. So that ended up being... And then... I don't know. You're missing the best one. Just wait up.
Starting point is 00:24:07 I'm thinking. There's a lot... There's a lot to go through. Okay. Chris was cute with his little backpack and his little socks pulled up and he was a student. But then I was like, ooh, teacher's student, that's not cute. Yeah, that's weird. It's illegal.
Starting point is 00:24:21 LT with the Speedo tucks. Did you think he had nice enough leg... Very balzy. That's what I said on the show. I didn't. I did notice that he, you think, I think his legs were shaved. Like, his legs looked absolutely beautiful. Great legs.
Starting point is 00:24:32 That's what I was saying. I think he did that because he knew he had some good ham strings. What? You also got, I mean, you got to have a nice looking package to pull that off. A nice looking package. I'm sorry to break it to you, but packages aren't really that good looking. No, but do you know what I'm saying? Like you got a, don't you think you got a nice looking package?
Starting point is 00:24:50 Yeah, you got to have like a nice little one, too. How do you do that off? Do you think he stuff? Yes. Because what? What? I used to stuff my bra, so it's fine. What did you stuff your bra?
Starting point is 00:25:01 Like, my mom called them cookies. What? I knew there'd be simple. I'd revere then you just said, did she? What are cookies? They're like padded little shoulder pads that can fit your bra. Did they ever fall out? Yeah, they did one time, and the guy had a crush on Coulter Carter and, like, the seventh grade said, oh, here's your little cookies.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Because I think. Did you, like, pat him the same? No, no, no, he said, here's your little bra. Oh, boobies. That's what he said. your little boobies. How old are we talking here? I was like 13.
Starting point is 00:25:32 I went to all the other girls had developed before me. You don't know what it's like to be a girl. No, I don't. And all the guys are like, you would be hot if you had boobs. Oh, gosh. Sad.
Starting point is 00:25:42 I should have just been like, yeah, well, I can't see your package so I can tell you how small it is. Good one, Palin. Okay, Rick, head on the platter. Thank you. Okay, ding, ding, ding.
Starting point is 00:25:54 I mean, he played that character the whole time. I thought it was funny. I liked that Michelle was witty. She went with it. That guy takes the cake. First impression rose goes to him. I like him too. He seems nice.
Starting point is 00:26:05 He's funny. I liked his facial expressions during it too. Like he was like kind of like wide eye and then he'd smile. I know you can't say anything. I'm a look at you when I say it. Does he go far? I'm not going to tell you. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Okay, by your body language. I just gave you either a nod or a shake. Oh, you did? I didn't catch on to that. Oh, I'll give it too good. Okay. Oh. Oh. Okay. Ryan, red flag didn't like his limo entrance. I'm just kidding. I feel, I'm not. I actually, he, I looked on his Instagram. He's not getting dragged too bad. So you know what? You know, it's funny. Patty Stanger chirped him. Like, I knew there was a red flag when he kept calling it, ice cream chuck and everything. And she zoomed in and it was shaved ice snow coats. Totally. That's funny. Granny Smith Apple. He was a red apple and he called it Granny Smith.
Starting point is 00:26:56 To a teacher. That was so. Of course, Michelle's nose. She just, like, list her off all of, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. She just roasted him with a million kinds of apples. Where does Michelle live now? She lives in Minneapolis.
Starting point is 00:27:07 So she does live there. Yeah. Oh, nice. That's where she's teaching. She went, this is, I love her so much. Okay. She's so confident, but also can admit insecurities because there's not one confident person who doesn't have insecurities.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Yeah. She's vulnerable, but, like, can handle situations with so much grace. Okay. And she is witty, like she's really funny and quick, beautiful inside and out. And as soon as she was done filming on a Friday and went back to teaching on a Monday. What? Yeah. Do you think she'll stay as a teacher?
Starting point is 00:27:43 Yes, I think she just loves it. Honestly, I think she wants to do really big things with, like, changing the lives of teachers. Like, I really think she's going to do big things. All right, finals, let me tell you about sleep, one of my favorite, past times. Something I'm very passionate about, if you will. Wait, the pizza guy?
Starting point is 00:30:09 We literally saw in the promos at the end that he's a complete deal. Okay, when I liked that guy, I was in the beginning. When he had the pizza thing and he's doing it, I thought he was funny. I liked him. And the promo was he looked like a dick. But the whole episode, he was nice. I thought he's funny. I liked that.
Starting point is 00:30:23 I knew it. I, as soon as he came. came out of the limo and he was like, what did he say? What was it? What's bonjour, bonjourn? I don't, I don't know. I don't know. But he said something like that.
Starting point is 00:30:33 I was there. I don't know. He had the pizza up over the pizza crust. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I liked him at first. You would. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:40 The funniest was Daniel showing up on a mini fire truck coming to the smoke show, followed by the real. It was like, he's like coming in on a dinky little thing and then the real fire truck shows up. And he's just sitting there like with his little light up hat watching. it all go down and they're like man he's good looking too and he's like oh come on her reactions to everything like she called that stuff out right away she was great yeah she killed that she remembered so many guys names because she said she's a teacher it's easy for her to remember names interesting mm-hmm mm-hmm did were you got a name memory i was actually not bad
Starting point is 00:31:15 not the first night i was terrible but after that i feel like i really paid attention because i wanted to like really study brandon chose up in the bed which we had a little tricky time getting it offset if you saw at the end. The bloopers were crazy. You guys broke it. Polly broke it. Don't play Polly.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Tasha got on the bed and I tried to push her and then Michelle laughed at my muscles and said, I'll give you some help. And then we realized the brakes were on the bed. You called Tasha. You go, we know the diva is here. Yes, she is. She would admit that.
Starting point is 00:31:48 And then I tried to, and then Polly was like, let's bring in Polly. He was like, you know, he's like the bounce of the show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, appallies the man. And then he tries to push it, and he just pushed it so hard, a wheel fell off. And then he was like, hey, perfect, and then he kept moving it. It was so funny. That was, I
Starting point is 00:32:03 thought for sure that would possibly make the blooper real, but I did not, after I was like, oh, that's blooper real material. And then it was in the end of this episode. It was so funny. Do you ever do stuff like that thinking it might be on the bloopers? Like, try to do it? Yeah. Do you know how much, do you know how much stupid shit they have
Starting point is 00:32:20 to choose from? Like, that's true. There's so much stuff. And you also want be a professional so you don't try like I was mortified when I spat out my champagne because I was like oh my God keep it together Caitlin like you also want You had some good chirps from the third
Starting point is 00:32:35 row we're front row Oh you are? Yeah it was just one bush in front of us from the nosebleeds Nice chirping What about Joe's and how she slid into his DMs and he ghosted her That was what I said when they cut off When she goes did I sign your DMs
Starting point is 00:32:50 He's like yeah and they cut off I go damn this show is good So good. The show is just a good show. But did you believe his story that he was just going through some stuff and now he's really here for her? Or are you like, hey, why now when you're The Bachelorette? Not sold.
Starting point is 00:33:03 Not sold. I'm not sold. Do you think he goes far? Yes. Oh, okay. Yep. I mean, I think he is, I think if she slid into his DMs, and I mean, look at a beautiful guy, they already had natural chemistry.
Starting point is 00:33:16 They're already like first discussion in time about therapy, death, mental work, and self-work. And, like, that was intense. my prediction is he goes far and they talked about where they're from and race and george floyd they talked about so much in one that was the most depth i think i've ever seen in a conversation in bachelor history yeah right right from the get go wait now i do have a day you might have known i want to know the timing of the dm because there is a way that if she dmed him when he was going through the process he might not even want to respond to her because that could like you know there's always issues when people talk to each other before the show so i want more
Starting point is 00:33:53 more information. I always want more information. Nate gets the first impression, Rose, says he has pigeons in his stomach because it's bigger than butterflies. That's kind of cute, except you pigeons. I just picture pigeons like, and around in his belly. You have pigeons on your arm. Sparrows.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Sparrows. Whoa. Oh, my gosh. Pigeons. Sparrows. Pigeons are rats of the sky. But you don't even like birds and you have sparrows on your arm. I like the meaning.
Starting point is 00:34:19 That would be like if I ate needles and needles tattooed on my. But maybe you're just trying to face your fears and see it every day. Is that what you're trying to do? No, I can't see them. They're on the backs of my arms. So why are they there? Because I love the meaning and I love the art of a bird. And I like the meaning of birds.
Starting point is 00:34:35 And I like, I don't hate birds. They scare me. I would like to give, I gave Caitlin a lot of credit for this. And I'd like to give her credit again here on the pod is that there was, oh, we were out with the kistles. And their kids had just gone to the zoo. And they were saying how excited they were to see the birds. and they were so beautiful and they got to play with the birds
Starting point is 00:34:55 and I could look at Caitlin's eyes and I could hear what she was thinking like, like, oh, birds, I hate them, oh, my God, and you were so good by being like, oh, that's amazing. They're beautiful animals. Yeah, because I don't want to pass my fear onto anyone. And I want to just applaud you again for that
Starting point is 00:35:12 because I noticed it. And I could see your wheels spin in and you held back and bit your tongue. I did that with one of my best friends and her kids too. They were like obsessed with making the birds fly through the park when they would like run at them and the ducks, and I truly faced my fears better than ever in that moment, because I was like,
Starting point is 00:35:27 do not pass on your fear to these young, innocent children. How good was it to see the kisles? So good. Yeah. They're awesome. It was great. I always find it funny, like, what's trending in Canada versus United States, like how, you know, most people will know Kristen Kavallari.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Yeah. And, like, they didn't have a clue about any, and in football. Yes, they did. No, we had to fill them in on it all. C.C. knows. Brett did not know. Yeah. I was talking to Brett.
Starting point is 00:35:52 You didn't know who Colby Calais was. Brett didn't know who Jay Culler was. I find that fascinating. That's a Canadian thing. Totally. Yeah, absolutely. But we had so much fun. I know who Colby.
Starting point is 00:36:03 I just didn't reckon out when she came and said, hello, I didn't know that was her. And then you sang her songs and like, oh my God. She's amazing. She's amazing. We had so much fun.
Starting point is 00:36:11 We went to a Preds game, and then we got to go to a Bills first. Is it still too soon to talk about the Bills Nashville game? Yeah. It's tough to live in Tennessee. It's not easy. I just had a buddy. he sent me flowers and said, sorry for your loss.
Starting point is 00:36:24 And he's a big Titans fan. The flowers are the color of the Titans. Are you okay? Remember the Somalié, heard you talking about it on the podcast? Yes. If anyone is listening, that remembers me talking about a bourbon steakhouse restaurant, how it's my favorite in Nashville. And I pumped the tires of the Somalié because she is a woman and she is brilliant and she is beautiful.
Starting point is 00:36:48 And I was like, calling her. Yeah. I was like, she's hot. She's like, it's hot. And I was, like, inspired by her. And she has a friend who listens to the podcast and told her. And she came up to me at Bourbon Steakhouse. And she was like, oh, you talked about me on your podcast.
Starting point is 00:37:02 I was like, oh, my God, I'm so embarrassed. I called you hot. And she's like, yeah, I heard it. That's so funny. It's great. You blushed a little bit, eh? Huh? You blushed a little bit.
Starting point is 00:37:13 I was? Blushed, yeah? Not why I didn't. You're a little embarrassed. Yeah, I was a little embarrassed. But I was also like, well, you are. any coosies so i mean that was the pretty much our recap for the show i think we did a great job and we nailed all the like most important parts michelle left with one rose left had to go
Starting point is 00:37:33 down those damn stairs again came back give the last one to joe and we uh can ask you a question voice viewer is there anything you can think of that is iconic that happens this season similar to like a colton fence jump or Katie on the bathroom floor. Katie on the bathroom floor. I'm sure there's many others. I'm just blanking on them all. Anything like soup, like there's a moment you're like, oh, yeah, that's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:38:00 Yeah. There is one on every season. And you know which one it is right now? I'm not going to tell you. And when can we expect it towards the end? I truly can't tell you. This is how our household works, everybody. I have insider scoops and I don't tell you.
Starting point is 00:38:18 Now I'll tell you off the pot I don't want to know Because then I can't be Are you going to watch this spoiler free Or do you know what happens? I don't know what happens Yes So that makes it so much more exciting
Starting point is 00:38:29 Okay I feel like I love to spoil I feel like spoilers are always wrong now Do you agree with that? No Okay Well sometimes You just can never trust them
Starting point is 00:38:38 But majority of the times They're right Okay Can I also say this Another opinion I'm going on the record I'll stand by it Bachelorette
Starting point is 00:38:47 and The Bachelor are so much better than Paradise. A lot of people would disagree with you on that. I'm going to stand by it. Okay, let's do a poll on either Twitter or my off. Let's do it on my Off the Vine podcast page. Why? I get it's so, I think because you don't just get to see,
Starting point is 00:39:03 you get to see so many different relationships, either fail or blossom or, there's so many more relatable things going on in so many different relationships. You think it's relatable in paradise? Well, when people are falling in love and it's the butterfly, or when they like aren't sure and they don't know if they're friend's own or then there's the drama like there's so many different things not just relatable to me that everybody else could watch and find something relatable in there yeah i don't know i don't know either i do know
Starting point is 00:39:33 bachelor and bachelette over bachelor in paradise any day of the week i can't watch this is a this is going to be a really like sometimes we have to recap i'm like i can't get through i can't get through a whole episode it's it's but that's a lot of yeah that's true it also might be there's Also the two episodes a week, that might be part of the issue. That's a lot of bachelor stuff. Yeah. Anyway, that's my take. Doesn't mean I'm right.
Starting point is 00:39:55 It's just my take. Okay, my last question to you is, how do you feel that Matt James was already kicked off dancing with stars? Shocked. I know. Abs. Well, between Matt James and Sporty Spice leaving. I know.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Blown away. I thought they were in top four for sure. Wait, what? Like, we can't just oversee it. How Matt James has Bachelor Nation behind him? And he is also just dancing his butt off out there. How do you think it's the, I mean, when you've been on the show, you can't give me it out of why do you think that is?
Starting point is 00:40:24 Do you think the competition this year is better than last year? I guess so. I don't know. I think maybe this is what I said. I can't remember who I said this too. I was doing the Bachelor at premiere the other day. Yeah. And I said maybe it's because Matt came off of the Bachelor and tried to remove himself.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Like it felt like he never wanted anything to do with Bachelor stuff, which I, which I get because I was, you know, when I came off, I was like, I just got to remove myself for a bit. Just need to go take a breather. But I think he also removed himself from interacting with like some of his biggest followers and fans and people who wanted to support them. But again, he was probably going through so much in his own time that he was probably focused on his relationship with Rachel. Like, but I think people just felt a little bit removed from him. That's my guess. I get what you're saying.
Starting point is 00:41:08 He took a breather. I think that's very fair. Like he kind of took a breather from Bachelor Nation. I think he would probably admit that, right? Like, just like, that was a lot. And maybe it was the turnaround time was too soon. But the one that really blows me away. Because people can argue and say Matt James wasn't the best dancer, right?
Starting point is 00:41:26 You could, but still, he's got a huge fan base. Sporty Spice was an incredible dancer. There's no we had her in top three. Yeah. I get a podcast with Cody Rigsby, I think, tomorrow. You think it's really all votes, 100%. Again, voice to the viewer. Yeah, I do.
Starting point is 00:41:44 I don't know. And that's another one I'd like to. hear people's opinion on. Okay, well, do you know what other people want to hear an opinion on? What's that? Is our wedding. All right. Give them an opinion.
Starting point is 00:41:53 On three, ready? Baby, shoot. One, two, three. We don't have any updates. What are you saying? It's like, wait, what's that? It's kind of sad. I'm like, we keep just putting it off for no reason.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Everyone's always like, why don't you talking about your wedding anymore? I'm like, there's really no reason that we haven't. I think here's my one thing, I think. we've seen so many people have to cancel or move or postpone or like not have it in the spot they want like all these things where it's kind of like I don't know like almost defeating to hear all these stories and try and plan something not knowing where the world's going to be next year I feel like our store we're now aligned here because I feel like the story is that's not the reason why and because we're busy no why I feel like there's steps to the wedding
Starting point is 00:42:42 and so the steps are getting a planner and there's been. been a lot of yeah and we put that off i wouldn't say we put that off well okay no we even put it off okay that's true there's been a lot of ups and downs and left and right within the planner work and we did just meet uh we have another planner that we just got a proposal from and we we have to review yeah as soon as we have the contract the new one yeah as soon as we sign the contract with the wedding planner and say it's go time i think everything well it's full speed yeah i do have a little spreadsheet go in for a guest list, though. We did do that.
Starting point is 00:43:17 Well, we also got this spreadsheet. I learned how to do, like, my first spreadsheet from you for a guest list. I didn't know how to set up a new worksheet. It was hilarious. All right. So we had. High school education. Google Docs.
Starting point is 00:43:29 All right. So we had my parents list. They gave me the list. We have both your parents list. Yeah. And so we have all that. And then what we haven't done is I need to wedding. We do have our, we also in Excel file have our wedding party, right?
Starting point is 00:43:43 Remember we did that. at over dinner. So I think we have a pretty good idea of where we want it to be. Yeah. Pretty good idea of when we want it to be. Yeah. I guess you're right. As soon as we do lock in that wedding planner, it'll be game on.
Starting point is 00:43:56 Well, we've got an exciting little week coming up. It's Jason Tardix's birthday on Sunday. Yay. So make sure everyone wishes him happy 33rd. 3-3. It's a good one. Yeah. 33.
Starting point is 00:44:07 I still feel like I'm 33. That's around three years ago from when I met you for the first time. That's craziness. That is crazy. You were so scared to turn 30. How are you feeling now? From when you were scared to turn 30 to turning 33, what's the biggest difference? The biggest difference.
Starting point is 00:44:23 I think entering your 30s is kind of a challenge. Like it's just the fact that it's new, it's different. But actually 30s are the best years you're in. And you were right. You were right into the unknown. Because the foundation of everything you've done is developed and now you're just like blossoming. Like you've had your heart shifts, your breakups, you've had your lefts.
Starting point is 00:44:43 You've learned more about yourself. than ever before and I feel like 30s are just unreal honestly so I'm excited about it I'm just like not face I will say I think I think when you start to say like 33 34 35 like what do you I feel like I'm 36 and you know what I think that starting at 30 we think that but then you're 36 and you're like I feel the exactly I forget I'm 36 but what's crazy is like do you agree with this I feel like I'm almost I'm not completely there especially because in the last like month has been a lot of traveling and like we've had a lot of events and stuff but i feel like at 33 i'm actually at my best almost almost physically not physically but almost physically mentally
Starting point is 00:45:27 personally financially professionally yeah i'm not going to be at my best till i've learned all of life challenges and i'm laying on my deathbed at 1001 that's my point we're saying the same thing i feel like while i'm turning 33 i'm turning a year older every day every year i've been working working and I'm at my best now. And hopefully at 34, I'm at my best then. But you never know. You could be at rock bottom in two years and you're still going to be okay. I'm not saying that, babe. I'm not saying that. I'm saying like people might say 33 is old. I'm saying at 33, I feel like almost all the areas of my life that create that happiness, all that. Like, I feel like I'm almost at my best in all of those. So I feel good
Starting point is 00:46:07 about that. It's good. Right? And hopefully next year it'll be better. And next year it'll be better. and every day you work to get better based on the lessons you learn, right? That's why 101, when you said you're on your deathbed, you'll be your best. Because you had 101 years of unbelievable stories and chapters and lessons learned and relationships built and I'll stop.
Starting point is 00:46:24 I love that you're like, the last month, it's been crazy. I literally've looked at my life the last six years. I mean, like, I haven't slowed down. I haven't just stayed home and, like, slowed down. I seem to stay home. I mean, the thing about your last year, you've been gone everywhere. But that's, but I truly have.
Starting point is 00:46:41 been gone for the last six years of my life. Yeah. Like I was looking back on all my. That's deep. Gone mentally and physically. God. You okay? Yeah, I'm great.
Starting point is 00:46:53 You know what's going to? Best I've ever been physically and mentally. You know, it's going to make everything better. What? The pot is back. That's what I was going to say. We've got low. Next week, baby.
Starting point is 00:47:02 We've got low coming in. When does he come in? It comes out on my birthday. We got the low show. What time does he get in? He gets in late around midnight. Oh, that's too bad. Well, it's not.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Yeah, because I have something special plan for your birthday. So, of course... Well, we should have planned that. Shoot. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's too bad. Yeah, I do. Because I didn't know that we had something planned.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Should I rebook his life? Probably. Yeah. But wait, it's your birthday. Why would you bring him in a past midnight on your birthday? Because I thought you said you wanted to have a day with me. Oh, but we... Well, I do.
Starting point is 00:47:34 But a bunch of things are happening. What's happening? I can't tell you. Oh, I'm excited. I thought you just wanted to do that. I've got something planned for Sunday, and then I have a gift for you. I don't need a gift. Well, you're going to like it.
Starting point is 00:47:50 All right. Okay. Until then. I'm sure we'll do a podcast with Lowe next week. And our Halloween costumes. Our Halloween costumes have arrived. They're going to be fun. Last year we were Brad and Jennifer.
Starting point is 00:48:03 This year we are TBD. Everyone will see on the gram. I also have my wine club event where we're all dressing up where I will. will show up as a troll. Interesting. An internet troll. And I'm going to show up and be like, Ew, what did you do to your face?
Starting point is 00:48:19 Just kidding. It's chirping everyone. Yeah. I'm just kidding, though. But I am going to be a troll. Okay, well, thank you for joining me for this little bachelorette recap. Yep, thank you for doing this with me. I think you had a lot of good questions.
Starting point is 00:48:31 We had a lot of good insight. Great. And everyone can stop being mad at me for going through someone's folder that was right out on the table. And I can't, I just can't say enough good about Michelle and how, how good. the season's going to be. So everybody keep tuning in to our Great Therapy Recaps and oh wait, last thing.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Whoa. Really quickly, like within two minutes, you've got to tell people your confession. I'm going to save it. Okay. Save it for like a good, maybe a live show if I come on your tour. We'll see. I'm going to save it. I'm going to save it. Okay, fine. All right. Until next time. Okay. This is
