So all I'm saying is money talks and who has the most money always follow the money.
All right, guys, I am very excited for this one.
This guy is a huge housewives fan.
You definitely know him from Fire Island and he hosts an incredible
podcast with Bowen Yang from SNL.
It's called Las Culturistas. I'm so
excited that he's also going to have
in December his own Christmas
special, which is awesome. It's
going to be on showtime. Ladies
and gentlemen, I have Mr. Matt
Rogers with me today.
This is a moment in time.
Melissa Gorgon!
Oh my God.
Hi.
Hi.
It's so good to see you.
How you doing?
I am doing great.
I'm like a huge stand of yours.
And I think I was on Watchward Happens Live.
And I did say to Andy, I was like,
I want a party with Melissa.
So it's on my list.
This is our first step into getting that done. Well, do you know, I had my cousin who is my,
like, gay best friend cousin, one with all the time. We're first cousins. We're like inseparable.
I feel like anybody who follows me on Instagram also knows him because I post him all the time.
So he sends me a clip of you on watch what happens. That's how I kind of found you. He's
sent me a clip of you on watch what happens live. And you said something about the ultimate
girl's trip. Like, oh my God, she's everyone's fun hot cousin that you want to just like
have fun with. And I was like, huh, I mean, he knows me so well.
No better descriptor for me. It's like, I think I said aspirational aspirational older cousin
energy. Like when I
you go, there you go, aspirate, it had such a good word. And I was like, I like it. I like it.
I like it. I love it. I love it. I love how you knew exactly the quote. You know what, you know what?
Like I grew up on Long Island. So I, and I'm not Italian, but like it's very much like the culture.
You know what I mean? Like I get mistaken for it's telling all the time, but like I know very much what it's like to have like you know family first
very tight family very tight extended family and you just reminded me ever since I started watching New Jersey Housewives
which for some reason it was the last one I got into. Maybe it was because I felt it was gonna be too real
because I'm from Long Island. Right. But the second I saw I'm like, oh my god, she reminds me of my coolest cousins that I love that. I'm your aspirational
fun cousin. It's a good thing. I just thought it was funny. So I'm so happy that we're finally
talking. You have such an awesome podcast that is so much fun. With like one of the funniest
guys around, how did that even like come about?
How did you guys start this?
Well, he's my best friend.
We've been best friends for about 13 years.
We met at NYU.
We both were in the comedy groups at NYU.
So like he was in the improv comedy group
and I was in the sketch comedy group
and we both were the only gaze.
And we were the same age.
And so like everyone in the group
were like, oh, you two, like,
you'll obviously be friends for sure.
Like you're the gay guys. And we were like, we both were on the side
being like, we're not just going to be friends just because we're gay. Like, come on, like,
don't be like that. And then I think we knew all the same words to all the same songs at
the parties. And I was like, maybe we are. And so ever since then, it was just like inseparable.
We just, we have this like ability to make each other laugh,
kind of like no one else.
And we started the podcast just because we thought
it was a fun dynamic, truly thinking no one would ever listen
to it.
You know what I mean?
This is like 2016, like when podcasts were definitely a thing,
but not everyone.
They were breaking through.
They were breaking through stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I was still like, what is it?
I was not a podcast person. I didn't really listen to them too much. And then once we started, it was true like word of
mouth and that it built a following. And now it's a thing. And it's been almost seven years. So
and it's been like, we've both started to work. He's obviously on SNL. You know, I'm doing my thing.
I have my special. I'm on this show on Showtime. And you know, it's cool.
We got to do the movie together Fire Island.
It was really well.
You've really blown up.
You've really blown up since Fire Island mat.
I mean, the podcast, the Showtime special,
that's a lot going on.
How does it feel to kind of be known a little bit more now
and like recognize you feel like Fire Island
put you on the map, so to speak?
You know, it's funny.
Like when we were making that movie, we didn't.
And it's probably good that this happened.
And probably when you do housewives too,
like, you're not thinking about it in the moment.
But like, when you're doing something,
you're not thinking about how many people are going to see it.
You know what I mean?
You're just like, you put your head down every day, your artwork.
And we knew that we were all enjoying being in the movie
and that it was going to be sort of a moment because
it's called Fire Island. You know what I mean? Like every gay guy's going to stream that,
every queer person's going to stream that and hopefully it would find an audience beyond that.
But we were very focused on the work. So when that came out later or earlier this year,
it came out in June. And also I have a show on Showtime Code. I love that for you with Molly Shannen
and Vanessa Bayer. That was coming out at the same time.
It was sort of like this shift where I was like,
oh my gosh, like not only did I like these things,
but other people like them, which is I think,
whenever you're doing anything,
it's like, of course it has to fulfill you,
but we're in the entertainment industry.
We want people to like it, right?
Of course.
And so when I got this great response,
it was just the coolest. And then the special I shot in August, now it's right? Of course. And so when I got this great response, it was just
the coolest. And then the special I shot in August. Now it's coming out in December. It's just been
really professionally like the best year of my life. And that's what personally makes me happy too, is to know that my stuff is getting out there and enjoyed. So it's been good.
Congratulations. I mean, no, that's huge. And it's very inspiring. There's a lot of like, you know,
guys like you out there that want to get in it, right?
Yeah.
And inspiring actors and, and I mean,
you really are starting to get some of your breaks and you got your break.
I mean, you're in there.
You're on showtime.
I mean, that's huge too.
And we're going to talk all about that because I want to know all about that a little bit later,
because showtime.
This is, this is big.
You're in a lot of
things. Yeah, I know like
just wild. Yeah. And fire
Island. It was a huge
phenomenon, obviously in the
gay community. It's funny
because I feel like so is
housewives, right? Like
why is that? Why is that
bravo? It is like such so
huge in the gay community.
What you tell me? I think
it's because like we just love,
like I know what I've gravitated towards
since I was younger is just like the strong women in my life.
Like honestly, because I think that like as queer people,
we really want to find a way to express ourselves,
but there's really when I was growing up anyway,
there was no one to look up to in my life.
That was like gay, like confident, strong, you know,
but also had the same interest as me.
Like I didn't see that behavior modeled.
And so like in terms of what my interests are,
it's really just watching people against all odds,
like make stuff happen for themselves.
And I also think especially with housewives,
when you're growing up and
you're not really comfortable with yourself, not comfortable voicing your opinion, I'm personally
inspired by people who really say what they think and they're willing to get into conflict
about it because actually, and this has been true pretty much my entire life, conflict actually,
like breeds resolution, which actually makes everyone better most of the time.
I'm not going to say that the gays don't love mess and that's not why they love housewives.
Clearly that's true too. But what I like about it is when I watch a season of housewives and I've
like absorbed it, I actually think I get better at knowing how to express myself because of either
watching a housewife where I'm like, well, I would never say it like that,
which happens with some of the people on your cast.
And then other people where I'm like,
I see myself in that, you know what I mean?
I understand this.
And so it's almost just like watching
like a social chess game in a way
with also like, you know, cool locations and fashions
and mess.
So it's just, I love that.
You're basically saying you love women who speak their minds and are not and approach and also approach fixing things at the same time, right? Yeah, and like I said, I'm from Long Island. So watching Jersey was like a real one to one from the same I won't think York and New Jersey, but Long Island and
New Jersey. So similar. Like anytime I do anything out on Long Island, they are like,
they come out. I mean, they are the best. They are, you know, I love that.
I feel like you guys are similar. Did you ever party in Fire Island? No. So my cousin
goes to Fire Island. I have never been because I'm far. I do like the Hamptons and stuff
like that. But
I need to go, right? Is it like there's no cars on the island? No, there's there's no cars. And so
basically it's like you got to take the ferry out. And the thing about fire island too is like everyone
thinks it's like the pines and cherry grove, which are like the gay spots. But there's like ocean beach
ocean bay park where it's like I actually grew up thinking of fire island as a place where like
families went and like you're honestly, straight people went.
I never thought of it as this gay destination
until I was in my 20s and everyone was going
and I was more comfortable with myself to go.
So it's really like, if you're from the South Shore
of Long Island, that's where you go.
And I couldn't afford the Hamptons when I was younger.
I wasn't really going to the North Shore,
but no, the beaches on Long Island too are crazy as hell. I couldn't afford the Hamptons when I was younger. I wasn't really going to the North Shore,
but the beaches on Long Island too are crazy as hell.
You know from being on the Jersey Shore, but like.
I know, but we, yeah, listen,
we get the best of both worlds.
I'm lucky to be able to be in the city in 20 minutes.
I can also go down the shore or to the Hamptons
in like two hours, hour and a half.
So for me, and then I get the backyard also, right?
So I get the house, the backyard.
So for me, I think Jersey's such a score.
Yeah.
Like I honestly do when anyone says like, you're not in New York.
I'm like, no, because I can be in New York in 20 minutes.
And then I get to go home to my like big backyard, which, you know, I have three
kids, obviously.
So it's, it's, I'm happy there.
But I feel like Long Island is very similar.
It's you get the same vibe
over there.
Definitely. And I also
think New Jersey and Long
Island are both similar in
that on face value.
I actually think we get a
weird rap. You know what I
mean? Like I think people
think like oh Jersey, that
means something about you
Long Island. That means
something about you. But the
fact is like, while I mean,
I don't agree with
everything that goes down,
you know what I mean? Like I definitely go back and what I'm reminded of is it's family first. It really is
beautiful. Like, that's another reason to go to Final Island, unless you sit like on the base
side and you just look out, it's like truly great, but like really, really nice place to raise a family
and definitely to grow up. Like, I really am proud to be from there. I mean, sometimes I make jokes
and stuff, but let me show like I'm sure everyone there. I mean, sometimes I make jokes and stuff,
but let me show like I'm sure everyone does
to get a sense of humor.
But I'm super like proud of where I come from.
My parents are still there.
Are they?
Yeah.
See, this is why I like you.
I can feel your energy.
I can tell you're one of us.
I can do it.
Well, that's what I'm saying,
because this is what I mean.
It's like, I don't know why Jersey was my last one.
Like I said, like I got COVID earlier in the year.
And that's when I was like, all right,
I'm sitting down and watching Jersey.
And it was you I gravitated towards and also Dolores.
Dolores reminds me of all my mom's best friends.
Like, and I don't even mean like mom age.
What I mean is like, when I was going up,
like those were her girls, like girls just like Dolores. Like that talk like that looks into my accent popping out now. But you know what I mean is like, no, I know it's going up. Like those were her girls, like girls just like Dolores, like that talk like that looks into my accent popping out now. But you know what I mean?
Like Dolores is such a vibe. She is. She's salty. The air too. Her and I, it's funny. A lot of people
do connect us together Dolores and I like if you're a Melissa fan, then you're Dolores fan usually
because we have the same kind of like easygoing, like fun loving vibe, you know, which is so funny. And she brings
a little bit more of the jersey, I would say, than I do when it comes to like her accent and her
talk and all that, which makes her perfect, right, which makes her diverse. So you have been
watching. Have you watched all the seasons from like everything, everything. And honestly, like, it's, it's such a ride, Jersey, because like, it's, it's, and like,
what I love about Jersey is that something is always happening.
You know what I mean?
You can't say that about somebody's other franchises, not naming any names Beverly Hills, but they
will sort of sit on one topic for like six to seven episodes.
And I'm like, at least with Jersey, I mean, like it feels like every episode is a Marvel movie.
It's like every episode so much stuff happens.
We get over things quickly so we can get into something
else quickly.
Beverly Hills is like, Crystal being like,
did Sutton say something dark and we talk about it
for episodes weeks.
And I'm like, see, if this was Jersey,
this would already be put to bed.
Margaret would have been-
We would have put it to sleep and started arguing about the next thing
already.
Oh, let's see.
You know what happens to Jersey?
We authentically really have a lot to argue about.
That's the problem.
And that's the problem.
And it's also the gift, right?
So it's like, yeah, there's just so much to say in real time.
I mean, when you think of Jersey, and I know now
we have Margaret, and we have like, you know, we do have Dolores, and we have the other cast members
that are here now. Do you look at Jersey still as like the family show? Do you?
I definitely do. I mean, I think like here's the deal, right? It's like culturally you can tell
that us from the East Coast, like being where we're from, like we deal with it a different way,
because like the other show,
that's like the family show is Beverly Hills, right?
And what I've always liked about Beverly Hills,
but that sort can sort of keep it down,
is Beverly Hills is about like the cracks in the chime,
that the cracks in the perfect life.
And when you really start to see that breakdown,
it's really interesting.
But Jersey is like, you owe me an apology.
You know what I mean?
It's like, this is how I feel.
And I'm not waiting to process anything. I'm saying it right now. And sometimes I'm watching it.
And I'm like, oh my god, this behavior is absolutely crazy. But me being who I am, I identify with it.
And so I'm just like, because that's who I am. Like if I'm upset, you know, you know,
yeah. And what do you think about the men in Jersey?
What do you think about the men in Jersey?
I honestly kind of make it. They make it too. They make it good.
Well, your husband is a star, first of all.
Like, I mean, like such a star.
And also, like, I love Frank.
I mean, yeah, I also like, Evan is just a beautiful man.
Like, he's a beautiful man.
I'm also a huge Jackie fan too.
Like, and I hope she's back full time.
I think that will be a huge mistake
for her not to be back full time.
I agree.
You know, I love Jackie.
I love her so much.
I think she's very real.
You know, she's honest with like her life
and what she, you know,
what she's feeling, what she's going through.
She's always been the real deal for me
since the first, first time she entered the room. She's always been the real deal for me since the first,
first time she entered the room.
It's not easy to look at Teresa and be like,
I totally disagree with you.
It was like basically the first word.
And then voice that.
Right. And voice that.
And there's a certain amount of respect you have to have
for a new, it's not easy to join the real hospitalized
of New Jersey because it can't imagine that it is.
It's the Melissa Teresa show for so many years that, you know, the
Gorgas, the Judices, and it's like to inject yourself into us,
could be scary, right? Yeah. And like most people, they tread lightly.
And I respect the women who are able to do it respectfully.
Because we have other people on our cast who really should just sit down and
not speak up as much as they do
that they're not doing it in a helpful way or like a loving way. They're doing it in a like,
oh, let's see what else these two. Let's see these two like banging each other's head up against the wall.
Yeah. Instead of like coming from an angle of like, well, I don't agree with you here. You know,
so there's different ways to approach the drama. And some of the girls just get it
and some of them don't, you know?
It's funny, like I think if I had to flat out
say that I personally,
because I think that you and Dolores are my favorite
cast members, but if I had to identify with one,
the most, it's probably Margaret,
because she actually can't help herself.
What I love about Margaret is this is my favorite thing
about Margaret.
Margaret in a confessional will be like,
so I'm going to this party and I know that what I can't say
is this.
It cuts to the scene and she's saying that thing.
And I'm just like, God damn it.
I love this woman.
She can't help it.
And literally, can't.
And when I tell you she's that woman who truly talks to everyone,
like it's just
she's the epitome of a perfect housewife.
Like she just did.
Oh, 100%.
I have a running joke with her.
I call her dynastie all the time.
She's always just like, I know I shouldn't say this.
But she's like, and I'm like Margaret.
And she's like, what?
And you know, she shows me her vagina all day long.
She always naked. Like she just has these little isles.
I love it.
No, she has these things.
Like she's hysterical.
I mean, it's so funny to watch her too,
because like, there really is this just like,
I mean, and you really, the thing about her is,
you're still on her side, even when on paper,
you're like Margaret No, like when she pushed him in the pool. like, oh my god, was that Danielle's husband or Daniel's point?
Yes, that was insane. I mean, literally she pushed him out of the pool with her hands, like she went over and it's a salted a man.
Basically, yes, but I was basically like, you know what, that guy needed to take a dip. He needed to go in the pool. Anyone Danielle's bringing around, don't give her the pool. We give her a pass all the time.
We were like, you know what?
Because at the end of the day, she meant well.
She means well, what she's saying.
And a lot of times I have to say,
she is right and she makes sense
and she does call people out on their bullshit marker.
She really does.
So I have a very special place in my heart for Margaret.
I have an appreciation for her.

I'm wondering how are you feeling about like the new season, Aaron, because I know you
probably feel a certain type of way about how it all went,
but like how do you feel about its Aaron?
Cause probably, I mean, you don't know
how it's gonna be edited.
Like you don't know if they're gonna take a quote unquote side
and you never know what the hell is gonna happen.
But like what's your status right now with that?
You know what, we wrapped filming
and then it's we're gonna air, I think our air date,
it's usually like the beginning of the year. So after Christmas sometime after that will air I do always think about like.
You know because for me this season particularly I think I changed my tune a little bit to what you're normally used to seeing Melissa do and say.
say. And a lot of that just comes from being completely fed up and just exhausted and also hitting an age and a success in my life where I'm like, you know what, I am very happy. And I have
ABC and D and Joe and Antonio and Geno and Joey and life and businesses and success. And guess what,
I don't feel like feeling like all the toxic
around me anymore.
And it's different for me.
It's very different for me.
It's also very scary for me because I always have this piece
about me that wants to put my best foot, no matter what.
Like even if you bring me down, I'm like,
you didn't mean that, right?
Like you want to fix this, right?
And that's always truly deep down who I am and
and I feel like I lost that a little bit this season that you're going to watch you you're going to
definitely see me like hmm. Give less now. I'm not interested and I think it's going to be and it's
scary for me right because I don't know how I'm going to look. I don't know if I'm going to regret
that but what I will say is that those were my true feelings. So you can't really regret how I was truly,
I truly believed in everything I said in this upcoming season.
I really stand behind it.
Although I feel I might regret it or watch it and say, geez,
Melissa, but like it was so real to how I really felt.
But that's what happens though.
When I feel like you have to curb the way that you actually feel
for so long because someone else's ego is so big and this is not me naming names or whatever
but people can into it what they want.
All I'll say is if I had someone in my life that constantly gave me ultimatums, that's
a red flag for me.
Stop telling me what to do.
Stop telling me what to talk about, who to talk to, who to align with, what I should be feeling like,
I feel you are constantly expected to hit a bar that Teresa is knowing that one day you won't be
able to meet. And unfortunately, like, and I see it very clearly, like I'm publicly on the record
of saying that I believe that Teresa, she often stops the fun on Jersey,
because she comes in and it has to be like whatever her rules are.
And I've gotten so irritated every time I watch an episode
and you have to leave an event because she's leaving,
or like, you know, something has to stop because she says so.
And I'm like, there's never a good enough reason for it
to the point where I, as a viewer, I'm as fed up as you are
as a cast member, I think.
So I can't wait to see it.
Yeah, well, then you're really going to love this next season.
Hey, you had it. Good for you, Matt, because no, but I appreciate you saying that. And you know what,
I know what you're talking about is I'm never going to hit that bar. And I'll never be good enough,
almost or whatever. However, many times I back you up and walk out of the room with you,
even when I don't agree with you.
It's never enough.
I can't win, but the ultimatums mat.
You make a great point because at one point,
it's like with certain people,
it's guilty by association or association by guilt.
Right. Which means that you have nowhere to go, because when someone
gives you an ultimatum, it just puts fear in you, right? And so that means you're unable
to actually stay true to yourself, because there's something else that you have to contend with,
which is like a threat. That's what an ultimatum is. It's a threat. If you do this, I'm going to
do this. And it's never good for you. And then it hangs over your head and then you don't say what you really feel inside.
So that's always an issue.
We'll never discuss, by the way, you'll never hear her bring any of that up.
It will only be, but you didn't do this, this or this or you know what you joined the real
hospitalized of New Jersey.
So therefore we are done.
Always goes back to that.
And I'm like, Mama, at what point is that going to be something
that we hang up?
Because ultimately, like you were cast on the show.
You're a great cast member on the show.
You have a very dynamic family.
Like you have a dynamic with the women
and you are invested in your own life.
Those are the three things for a housewife.
How are you with the group?
How are you with your family?
How are you professionally?
I feel like those are the three things you offer all of them.
So what is her deal?
Thank you.
Yeah, it's frustrating.
I don't know.
I think you're gonna love this next season.
I'm excited.
I mean, when you and I are gonna talk
after you watch this again.
I'll be like, girl.
I would love to know your thoughts,
but going off of everything you just said, it's that's I I
I push that under the rug a lot and I would keep trying to hit whatever it is that I'm supposed to be hitting because I'm supposed to
Supposed to and I'm like, you know what? I'm not supposed to do anything for anyone besides like my family. How about I'm gonna start worrying about Joe and my children and like that's what I'm gonna put first now.
I'm not gonna put anything else before
and I'm gonna worry about myself.
And that's it.
And I hit a point and I show that point.
And so this will be a great season for you to watch.
I can be glad that you included Jersey into your watch list.
I'm telling you, I think it was just like,
I just didn't want to be triggered by watching
like people who looked like people
actually grew up with and loved arguing that way
because I also had heard how intense it gets
between your families and that breaks my heart.
Like I really don't like watching that up and down
but then again, I guess I do.
Not to please, everyone loves it.
Do not feel guilty.
Everyone loves to watch it.
They also love to root for us.
You know what I'm saying?
So it's like it's a very good mix of like, you know, it is what it is.
And also, I want to say I genuinely root for you both too, because I've I have rooted
for Teresa many times individually through over the years.
Like obviously never in regards to you guys in conflict, but her as a person, I desperately because I've I have rooted for Teresa many times individually through over the years like
obviously never in regards to you guys in conflict but her as a person I desperately want to be happy
I really want the best for her but it's just like at a certain point you got to make a call
right yeah I agree what about so let me ask you this jumping over to Beverly Hills for one second
let's do it are you, so the Kathy Kyle Lisa,
Rena, the whole situation, it's crazy.
Are you seeing the recent where like,
Kathy liked a comment that really rips Kyle
from head to toe?
I am like, knowing what it's like to have
a family member on the show, I got the chills.
I thought, so I had it wrong.
This is so bad.
I thought she wrote that comment.
I didn't realize.
A lot of people are saying that.
So I showed my girlfriend.
I was like, oh my God, this show, these shows,
I don't know.
It's a vile.
I was like stressed about it for Kyle as well,
like just because I was like, wow. And then my friends like just because I was like wow and then my friends like no
No, she liked that comment and I was like okay that makes it a little different not much different, but a little different
Right, imagine hitting like on that comment though like I know that she's not good at social media like that's whole
Kathy's whole thing like oh, I thought it was a DM, but it's a comment, but I'm sorry
But if you click a heart next to a something that says that, we know your intention.
That was right. And I guess like because Kathy is like the fan favorite and she's so goofy and
we love her and how fun is it to see Kathy Hilton, you know, the Hunky Dorian, etc., the fan,
whatever. I just think there's something there with the two of them where they're just neither of them want to make
concessions because I think it's two things. One, I think Kathy speaks to Kyle Crazy. I mean,
like her acting like that in Aspen, like if that's really the way that their relationship is,
that's wild. On the other hand, though, I will say this, Kyle has a tendency to center herself in everything. She says me more than anyone I've seen on housewives.
She really is, guys, this is only bad for me. Like, I have to do it with it. Me, me, me. Meanwhile, like when she's dealing with other people's conflicts, like when crystal had her issues,
Kyle is the first to be like, why do you feel like that? What are you talking about? We don't understand. That's not the wrong word.
That's not the right word. That was too strong word.
She's always micromanaging everyone else.
But when it comes to her, it's like the biggest deal in the world.
Like talk to me when talk to me when Erica Jane looks at Porsche and says,
fuck off. Talk to me then. And then Kyle, act like it's something
that she should be absolved for
with the Garsell of it all.
There's no way, there's just no way.
And I love Kyle.
You know, you could fill in for Andy Cohen,
whenever I mean, you really have this.
Listen, no, honestly, like you need to like jump in there
and like be like Michael Rappaport jumps in all the time.
I said he knows every aspect of like you can also the Bravo world would love to hear
you.
I'm going back to the end of the month.
I'm going, I just got the email actually right before I got on with you that I'm going
back at the end of the month.
I'm going to be on with one of the Potomac ladies and I'm so excited.
I definitely put in a request for Candace because I love Candace.
I just went with her at Bravo Con.
She's like, we did this performance.
We ended watch what happened.
I saw.
Look at you close that out.
I love it.
That was fun.
That was fun.
I mean, that was a bless, but I literally, I'm going back.
And this will be my third time back this year.
And I literally started the year because I thought maybe it would,
I thought maybe some things would happen this year. But I literally started the year being like thought maybe it would, I thought maybe some things would happen this year,
but I literally started the year being like my goals
to be on Watch It Happens live one time
and I'm gonna end it having been on three.
So that was pretty good for me.
You see?
And you were a memorable good guest.
You know why?
Because you do, he loves when you give an opinion
on like a duel, you're not shying away.
Like you're literally giving your opinion
on all big categories. And it's just, and it's, and it makes sense., you're not shying away. Like you're, you're literally giving your opinion on all big categories.
And it's, and it's, and it makes sense what you're saying.
So yeah, I mean, look, I was on the Karen Hueger.
So I had my opportunity to like, you know, stand her
and I said my Potomac takes it whatever.
And then I was on with Boeing.
And because there was no housewise around,
I just ripped it up.
I was like, here's what I think, here's what I think.
Here's what I think.
And so now I'm going back on and, you know, who knows what will happen.
But I love being in the club.
I also, I don't know about you, but I get a little too drunk every time.
Oh, God.
It's crazy.
Is that you?
You're plastered.
Oh, yeah.
Do you drink the whole time you're there?
I do.
Yeah.
He feeds me.
We always end up going out after for a drink too.
I always have like Joe with me. We end up after for a drink too. I always have like Joe
with me. We end up going for a drink after it's always like a thing to go to what happens
live together. That was you know what? I'm going to tell them that because when Jersey's on,
so you can come on with me. We need to like review what's happening. We'll get your true authentic
opinion about I love it. And do Melissa. I'm just I'm guaranteed I'm going to stand.
Hopefully hopefully I won't be
like hiding under the tables
somewhere.
Listen, we'll get you out again.
We'll apply you with drinks.
Exactly.
We're going to have a couple
cocktails.
I'm so fun.
You know, I'm like, you're big
cousin that's so fun.
I can trust me.
I I I'm into it.
All right.
So hold on before we get off
this subject on one of my favorite
things that you
do on your podcast is called I don't think so honey, right?
Yeah.
And basically, it's where you were bowing, you just rant about something for 60 Second
Street.
Yep, we do a 60 second rant on something in pop culture that's just like, we need to
rip all the way apart.
Like I was like, it's something, sometimes sometimes you have like you've just had it with something and so you get 60 seconds on the clock
and you say I don't think so honey this thing and you drag it. Okay I want to play with you right now.
Okay I get to ask you you're gonna answer for 60 seconds. Yeah I'm gonna put the clock on.
Perfect and then I have the clock too if you want to do one I want you I want to hear
Melissa Gorgers I don't think so honey. Oh god. I don't know if I can do that really. Well,
let's send me first and then let's see if let's see if it feels like I give you some courage.
Okay. Okay. Okay. So do I have to say I don't say you have to say you have to say so you what
you say to me is Matt Rogers your I don't think so honey time starts now and then hit the button and I'm gonna go Okay, ready. Yeah
Matt Rogers
I kissed up that you're like bowin you're it's amazing hold on am I talking about when you're gonna what?
Am I doing this right? Okay, I'm killing it. Matt Rogers. I don't think so honey give me all the drama on the real house
Wise of Beverly Hills go. I don't think so honey Diana flop
This was not the first season that we needed from you.
And you came in promising all of that.
You came in so hot and you were like, yeah, I know Elton John.
I actually on the board of that party.
And then I was going to expect something from you.
I don't think so, honey, because all I got from you was like
Asher's EP.
If I have to see Asher sing one more song
scrilting at the top of his lungs, I don't think so, honey.
What is going on, Diana?
Seriously, also not for nothing,
but it's giving Mafia energy.
That's what I'll say about that.
Oh, Diana, I don't think so, honey.
It's season two for you because while you did do
a couple iconic things such as,
so you say, I did love that dinner,
that lunch that you have a sudden
where you were like, so you say,
but I don't I don't think
so I'm saying it because ultimately it's giving sort of a
dark evil energy and when you said that suddenly actually
is a CUNT I was done at that point you're aligning with Rina and
Erica mama this is the darkness I don't think so honey Diana
sorry about it bring back Kim Richards.
about it bring back Kim Richards. Oh, time.
What?
Oh, me, Shay.
Hi.
That was, I could, first of all, I cannot do that.
That was amazing.
That was so good and spicy and shady.
I love it.
Listen, you got to give what the girls came for.
And I've been doing too many.
I don't think so, honey's now.
I think I've done almost 300 over 350 of them in the years we've
done the podcast. So if I'm any good at it, it's just because practice.
That was a mate. That was like, red dick. I was like, oh my God, I don't want to
interrupt them to tell him how many seconds he has left because I don't want to ruin
his train of thought. Am I supposed to do that? So yes, you did it
perfectly. What I do is I do 30 seconds and then 15 seconds left
and then I say five and then it's over,
but you were, you intuited it perfectly.
Well, you know, I'm a newbie here.
I'm just trying it out, you know.
No, you killed it, you crashed.
I will say I didn't even mention the bots.
I didn't even mention like the garcelle of it all,
which is really where she gets tough for me,
because you notice she always picks on garcelle
in a way where it's like, girl, why?
Unless it's something dark.
Wait, can we talk about the bots for a second please?
Can you believe that there's bots?
Well, first of all, I can definitely believe that there's bots,
but what I can't believe is that we haven't already figured out
who sent them, because it feels like that's actually something that could be easily traced.
And the fact that it's not been easily traced means to me that someone with a lot of money
probably took care of it.
Because like if something can't be traced, it means there's a second layer of security
or something.
You know what I'm saying?
Something. Of course. There's something there that's making it really difficult
to get to the bottom of this.
And all I can say is money talks.
We've actually heard that on the season.
I mean, when they were like, you know,
when they were in some club, Diana was going on
about how, you know, money talks, that's what you do.
You give money to someone and they do something.
So, and she's like, Kathy knows how this game works,
like about like the DJ or whatever.
So all I'm saying is money talks and who has the most money.
Always follow the money.
That's what I'm saying.
I'm not saying anything.
Wow.
I'm not saying anything.
I'm just saying there's clearly an operation here that's paid for.
Wow.
Wow, that's crazy.
Hey, Fred and I lights fans. It's not only Hey, Friday Night Lights fans,
it's not only football Friday Night Lights and Beyond
is an episode by episode discussion of the hit TV series Friday Night Lights.
Hosted by your truly Scott Porter who played Jason Street on the show
and my two wonderful co-hosts.
Me, Zach Giltfried aka Matt Saricin.
And me, May Whitman, aka someone who wasn't on the show,
but really, really loves it a lot.
We will also bring on some special guests to answer your questions
and tell you about what's going on in our lives today.
It's not only football,
Friday night lights and beyond coming soon,
wherever you get your favorite podcasts.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!
And that's where it gets very scary being on these types of shows because you have to watch who you're actually on the show with like at the end of the day guys we are here for your entertainment. Yes, it's real life, but you need to understand that the show is the show right. And then when we go home, you need to enjoy your family and your friends and like, unless
we're truly friends together, you need to leave it at the door, right?
And some of these women cannot do it.
It's the need to win.
And I honestly feel it's their own miserable situations going on that they want to push
misery on.
You know what I always say this? Hurt hurt people hurt people. Yeah, that's right.
And that's a fact.
It's just unfortunate. I pardon me, does miss the days and not that I've
been watching housewives for since the beginning, because
honestly, I probably got into it about like five years ago. But
when I watched the older seasons, it feels like the conflict
existed within the ecosystem of the friendships
and in the group. Whereas now it's like, you said this on social media after the show,
or there were bots, or this happened at BravoCon, or this happened backstage, et cetera.
And that's not fun because we the audience are not seeing it. And it's too much, it's
too much because it's too deep and dark also.
It's dark. It's. Oh, Matt, from your mouth to God's ear, like I agree with you 100%.
And I think Bravo realizes that as well. And I do think they want to bring it back.
I don't think they want it to be. So they would love the drama to happen on camera,
like it's supposed to not at Bravo Con and here in there. We're in Sprinkle cookies. You camera, like it's supposed to, not at Rob O'Conn and here in there.
We need sprinkle cookies.
You know, we need like the sprinkle cookies.
Yeah, we need that.
We need like, you know, scary island.
We need like this type of stuff where it's not bigger
than the fandom because I actually think
maybe part of the reasons why, and I think like,
you know, you see like a ratings dip like across the board for for Housewives franchises, like everything's down a little bit. Maybe
it's because a lot of people at home who watch these shows, like don't understand what a
bot is. You know what I mean? They don't get the social media element of it. It's like
they can't watch that and say, well, I agree with her for this reason because I had something
similar happened with my sister or my friend because they can't relate to bots like who can relate to that?
That's not like a very old line about it.
But it's not content for the show.
It's literally not happening on the show.
I mean, there were things in the Beverly Hills season this year that were not discussed
on the reunion, but you know, the bots got like 20 minutes.
Oh, yeah. You know, exactly, which was frustrating for a lot of the viewers.
I know that too.
For sure.
I know.
I know.
Okay.
Well, swarving from housewise for a second, I want to talk to you about your holiday
Christmas.
You have a whole special.
Talk to me about it, please.
So for those of you at home who may not know Christmas,
it's a huge holiday, right?
It's a huge industry.
And there comes a time in every pop star's life
when they decide they're going to have a Christmas album.
I have decided to make a Christmas album.
I'm not a pop star yet, but you will understand
that you just don't know me as one yet,
when you stream on Showtime December 2nd.
I have an entirely original Christmas music album
that I wrote with my musical director, Henry.
We've been working together for years.
We've been touring the show for years in 2017.
And this is like it and it's fully finished form.
It's going to be on Showtime.
I have like a really great relationship with them
because I'm on a series on Showtime.
Cole, I love that for you,
which I mentioned earlier with Vanessa Bayer
and Molly Shannon, and I really love Molly Shannon, by the way.
It's the best.
I was just voice memoing with her,
because we're still waiting to find out
if we got a second season of our show, FingersCross,
but she's the best, and she loves housewives.
Did you know that?
She does.
Don't tell me that I love housewives. That does she watch Jersey? Yes, she don't tell me that I love that. Did she watch Jersey?
I'm sure she does. Oh my God, I love her. Just kiss her for me.
I will. I love her. Honestly, she's she's so great. Vanessa Bayer loves housewives.
Like our whole cast loves housewives. But the special is really cool because I feel like
it's like a really unique opportunity to point to something and be like, this is
exactly me. This is my sense of humor. This is like what I'm
capable of. This is what I do. It's music, it's stand up, it's
like sketches, it's a hybrid of everything. And it's also
a little stand up in there too. Yeah, absolutely. I mean,
dirt in the middle like. So basically, where I came up is I
came up in New York comedy. So I moved to New York when I was 19 from Long Island
and I went to NYU and I have a degree in TV writing,
but when you're in New York,
you kind of got to do everything to stand out, right?
So I was doing sketch comedy for years.
It's a little stand up, got my involved in music
and some musical theater.
And I lived in New York for 11 years until I was like, it was 2018
and I screen tested for SNL twice.
And so I got really, really close.
And then they ended up casting Bowen,
who's my best friend.
Exactly.
And so I was so happy for him.
But I also knew like,
it was time for me to try something new.
So then I moved to Los Angeles
and I started working in this city. And it just so happened that I had this project. Have you heard of Christmas that I had
done in New York for years and I was like, all right, let's pitch it around town. Let's
see if anyone wants to do it. And so now here it is like this. Wow. Holy formed. And
really what I love about it is it takes everything that I've learned to do and puts it in
an hour. And I'm super, super excited about it,
especially because there's an in for everyone
with the Christmas of it all.
Because for me, it's like, Christmas is such a big part
of like hour.
It's everything.
It starts now.
I mean, to be honest, it starts now.
I'm not going to lie that I was on websites today,
like looking at gigantic Christmas
balls that I can put throughout my foie. 100% like it's tree time for sure. We have to
just the happiest time. It's magical. I mean, that would be my dream, like a Christmas variety show,
basically, like a, that's pretty amazing that you have that opportunity. That's why I'm watching
100% watching this. This is December 2nd. On socialite. It's going to stream on Show opportunity. That's why I'm watching 100% watching this.
This is December 2nd.
On social.
It's going to stream on Showtime.
It's also going to air that night.
It's a Friday night.
And what I like about it is that's coming out really early
in December.
So that means that people have a really long time to enjoy it.
And the thing about my show too is like, of course,
you can watch it during Christmas,
but you can watch it any time of the year.
Because it's about Christmas for sure,
and it does celebrate Christmas.
But it also takes to piss out of Christmas a little bit,
because one thing I think is so funny about Christmas
is that it's this huge commercial time
where everything is like expensive and on sale,
and it's macy's and it's stuff, and it's like,
I'm sorry, but my thing is,
not all these pop stars like Christmas,
they're making a Christmas album so they can make money.
And I actually thought that was funny.
And so that's part of the character I play is like, we're doing a Christmas album
so we can be famous every year like Mariah, like in the special,
my goal is to be the Prince of Christmas.
Like Mariah is the queen of Christmas.
And so that's like, it like documents me trying to do that.
Oh my God.
I want you to be the king of Christmas.
Like Mariah is defrosting right now.
As I speak, she's defrosting.
We're waiting for her to defrost.
You know, I already have tickets to her show at Madison Square
Girl.
I go every year.
It's my cousin's trip.
See, this is why you want to be a cousin.
You knew what you were saying.
I knew I knew. me and my cousins go every
single year to see Mariah. I'm going to start. I'm going to come see you in Madison Square
Garden one year for your Christmas special. I'm playing town hall on December 23rd in New
York City. I'm just saying. Oh my God. Okay. But that's awesome. You know what's funny about Mariah?
She was my first concert ever. It really? Really? garden. Yeah, it was the the rainbow tour. So
this is 2000, I was 10. And it was just funny because like that
was like, huh, break, you got the best of me, like which is
still the best on ever.
Yeah, coming back.
Exactly.
Yeah.
And you remember, you remember the video where she was a
Mariah and also Bianca the dark-haired version?
She was both.
Yes, and so what I loved about the concert was I was tan and getting my life because she
would do a number and then Bianca would come out in sunglasses and run around the stage
and everyone in the whole Madison Square Garden was like, Bianca, there she is!
The whole conceit of the concert was like,
keep an eye out for Bianca.
So I guess it was like some backup dancer.
Like, trapped like a dark moment,
like running around and it was so great, man.
Mariah is like, it's crazy that we're still, I'm still,
I'm going, I'm going, I'm going in a couple of weeks.
We still go see Mariah.
It's like amazing.
No, it's like, you got to go while you can
to see these legends.
You know what?
You know what?
One of the best things that ever happened
was one year, like years ago.
I think I was like 21, 22.
My parents and I, my whole family,
my, I have a younger sister too, Chelsea.
We all went to LA for like a Hollywood like vacation.
Like we were just, we're going to spend like a week there.
And one of the best things that happened
was we went to the tonight show
and it was, it was, I guess it was still hosted
by Jay Lanow at the time.
And the musical guest was Aretha Franklin.
And I'm telling you, like to be able to say
that I got to see Aretha Franklin sing live, unbelievable.
That's crazy.
believable. And I mean, that's like, and ever since then, see Aretha Franklin sing live. Unbelievable. That's crazy. Unbelievable.
And I mean, that's like, well, and ever since then,
whenever someone's going out on tour,
I always buy tickets if I like them.
Like, you know what I mean?
So I've seen all the girls.
And I know it's because, you know,
this is like, especially with the pandemic,
when all that stopped, you can't take anything for granted.
Like live experiences like that,
like when you see someone really do their thing,
like you gotta go, because it's fun and also like,
you gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it.
You gotta feel it. You gotta feel it. You gotta feel it. You gotta feel it. You I knew it. I knew it. I'm going to have you back so often because we have such a good vibe together. I do love you to death. You're so awesome.
Your opinions were so concise and clear. I really, really appreciate it. All of them.
And I cannot wait for your next appearance and watch what happens live.
Yes. I feel like I think it's happening early December. So like it'll be because I'm in
New York doing a bunch of stuff. And I want that. I literally just found out a little bit earlier that that was one of them and I was like, okay, make sure you remember it like DM. I want to remember when you're on.
I will. I'll see it. I'll see it. I'll see it. Okay, and speaking of early December listeners. Be sure to check out this holiday special. It's called Have You heard of Christmas. It's out on December 2nd on Showtime and definitely subscribe to his podcast
because I mean, listen to him.
He's hysterical.
And thank you so much, honey, for coming.
You were amazing.
Thank you for your time today.
You've been awesome.
It's exceeded my wildest expectations.
Oh, good.
I'm so glad.
I'm so glad.
