Hello and welcome to another episode of the Regulation Podcast.
This is episode 121, the Palindrome Edition.
My name is Jeff Ramsey with me, as always, Andrew Pant and Gavin Free, Nick Schwartz, Eric Badoor.
Hello.
Hey, guys.
Hello.
Before, the audience doesn't know this, but right before the podcast starts, Eric reads all the stuff
that we talked about in the previous episode, just a primus.
I'm tired just from his recitation.
That was a lot.
It was a two or seven contender, I think.
yeah but I don't think anybody
did anyone text Emily about it?
Nobody texted Emily
there you have it
so that's how high the bar
for 207 is I guess
anyone have anything they want to talk about
from 120 any kind of like hangover at all from it
no
I have a question
so at the end of the episode
we determined some
technical peculiarities
I'll say with Andrew's setup
has that changed at all
Have there been modifications to that or we just were exactly where we were at the end of 120?
Exactly where we left off.
Oh.
Oh. Why not? Why not? Why not? Why not?
What do you mean? Why not?
No, obviously, yeah, yeah. I'm going to flip it. I just haven't yet.
Do you think you'll flip it before or after the chair breaks in September?
Oh.
It's not going to break.
Is this like, is this a, will this be two years on this chair if you get to this September?
I think so.
Holy shit.
This might be the one.
Magical chair.
This could take you towards the 30s.
It could.
It possibly could.
Yeah, I'll flip that.
I'm trying to set up a video game thing.
That's my focus of tech at the moment.
Ooh.
Nice.
When you say at the moment,
do you mean in the middle of recording this episode?
No.
No, just like, I'm just checking my general.
It's ongoing.
It is ongoing.
I don't know what I'm doing with it.
But it, uh, Texas full episode, let's go.
Oh, yeah.
Now, I don't want to risk that.
I don't want to risk damaging this thing in some way or screwing it up.
It's too important.
Is this that thing you were telling us yesterday?
No.
Oh, unrelated.
Unrelated.
Oh, man.
This will open up a whole bunch of other games that we can play for let's flight that I'm
very excited about.
I don't know if I, I don't know if I like that because last time you did that,
we ended up with I spy around the world in 80 days.
Yeah, he's like,
He's like, this is going to open up a whole bunch of games we can finally play for
Let's Play.
We're really struggling to come up with games.
A whole other catalog.
It's exciting.
Well, I wasn't aware that there were games that we couldn't play.
Well, just like, for me, to have easy access to.
Right.
It's going to be good stuff.
I'm excited.
You're going to enjoy it.
Someone pointed out, Andrew, that your monitor is set to 60 hertz, but it's 180 hertz.
monitor.
You gotta be kidding.
Which means it's working
at one third of its speed.
Classic underclocking.
How did the joystick
going on this thing?
Check your
Apple's monitor.
Yeah. How do I change this?
Oh, suddenly
the tech guys don't know anything. Interesting.
I can't see anything.
We don't know. I'm just kidding.
You're talking
I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I just want to be clear. I'm kidding.
Very clear. We don't know your setup.
We need to, we gotta do a tech support.
I'm guessing it would be an image.
What are you talking about?
You just told me something was wrong and so I was trying to fix it.
Display settings. Well, let's not get into it.
I'm four minutes into the podcast.
I just, it's very visual.
Gavin. Yeah. How is your air conditioning?
It's a piece of shit.
That's nice.
the other thing that was over before.
So I'm now on
day 10.
Oh.
After being able to declare twice
that yay, they fixed my air conditioning.
What?
It started getting hot.
So I went up there, went in the loft
where all the shit is, all that, all the filter
and all that. And I heard a hissing sound.
Which I don't think is very good.
Then we had
someone out and they were detecting leaks.
And they were like, oh, it's the air handler.
The air handler's leaking.
I was like, well, first, what's the air handler?
And they're like, oh, it's the thing you put the filler in.
I was like, okay, that's not where I heard the hissing, but cool.
Sure.
So they put in a whole new air handler and they refilled all the coolant, the refrigerant, which had leaked out.
They filled it back up.
And that cost $1,100 just for the cool.
Yeah.
What?
Yeah, it's probably a retired coolant that's harder to get, I would imagine.
Yeah, all of my system is old.
Put its ass back to work.
And by the way, Gavin, your system's old because it is how old?
Six years old.
Six years old.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
What?
It's insane.
Oh.
So I'm going to place a little video in the old Discord.
I'll wait for that to go through.
Anyway, so they replaced the air handler, topped up the system.
Well, actually, first, they just topped up the gas and walked away and it all leaked out again.
So then they replaced the air handler.
You gotta be kidding me.
And they replaced the air handler.
And I was like, finally.
And that was like six grand.
And then, if you watch that video, I walked to the outside of the house where the spinny part is, the compressor or whatever.
Have a listen to that.
Okay.
That's not good.
Oh, it's not supposed to make that sound.
That's a hard hiss.
What in the...
That's like cicadas.
Yeah.
Are there cicadas in your AC unit?
Cicada power?
Did they check the cicada trap?
No, they're just in the background.
We can use the audio for that, but I wouldn't put the video in.
But the leak is in fact right there.
The air handler was probably had a much slower leak.
Oh, no.
But it was all pissing out there.
So basically hours after they refilled it again, it all leaked out again.
And I just thought, I'm about to give up.
I'm about to go nuts.
Then...
That's insane.
Then, after they'd gone, they'd been gone maybe like three hours at this point.
I'm just like, ugh.
And Meg's trying to handle it all because, you know, we were like filming stuff yesterday.
We did a freaking video that was four hours long.
And then at night, I realized, I was brushing my teeth.
And I looked behind me.
And they've stolen the freaking hole.
Wait, what?
Wait, what?
What am I looking at?
The hole to my attic,
they've taken away
like the wooden trim
that holds the lid in.
It's gone.
What is?
I still don't understand
what I'm looking at.
So what is...
It's the hatch to my attic
where the air handler is going.
Where did it go?
They took the frame.
They took the frame.
They took the frame
so the piece
has nothing to sit on.
So they taped
the door in.
I... What?
And they didn't say anything to either of us.
We just were looking at this hole at 11pm.
Just like, where's the hole?
It's right there.
So for reference, I'm just throwing an image
and it's just, it's supposed to just be a thing
that's like framed and in there,
like a hole in your ceiling.
Usually they just cut like the dry wall out
and make that the lid and then they put a wood
a holder in below.
So they put the tape.
Why did they put the, why did they do this?
Because I think if there's no tape, it just falls out.
Right, but why would they?
I assume, I assume when they got the air handler up there, they smashed the living
shit out of everything on the way of it.
And it all broke and fell apart and didn't fit through the hole.
I've been through similar before.
AC people will be real quick to tell you they don't do drywall.
That's another, that's another, that's a you.
They do damage to drywall, but they don't do damage.
They'll charge you to do damage to drywall, but they're not going to repair it.
Yeah.
Wow.
This is insane.
So you just have like a hole still?
Yeah, there's a hole with tape around it, so I can't even get in to see if I still hear the hissing in there.
Well, I don't think it matters. You definitely hear it downstairs.
I hear it downstairs, so it's probably not in there.
Uh, and it's all the way through yesterday and today, it's been pushing 85 degrees in my office.
in my office.
Oh!
Why didn't you just come in to the office here to record?
Or stay at my house.
You can stay upstairs.
We have a room for you and Meg.
You don't have to suffer or get an Airbnb.
Like I did when the RAC went out that time.
You don't have to suffer.
Yeah, I think if I'd known ahead of time
that's going to be 10 days, I would have done that.
But I'm assuming every day that the next day.
Somehow they keep ordering parts on a Friday.
So that sucks.
Here we are on another Friday.
We're about to order another freaking
Fountain thing.
At least you're getting all the leaks
solved. That's positive.
And it's all under warranty, right?
So you're not paying anything.
No, it's not.
It's not under warranty.
Because, as I discovered,
it's only, you get five years warranty
and you get an additional five
if you register your unit.
And the people who built this house
didn't do that.
So everything.
Everything is full price.
Wasn't it like you have to register it like six weeks after you install it,
but they didn't install it for a year, so it didn't matter?
Apparently this unit sat somewhere for a whole year before they put it on a house.
I get that.
Stupid?
Yeah, backup.
It's a backup.
Yeah, Andrew's actually, Andrews actually for it.
No, I'm not for it.
I'm just, I'm on that once again.
It just reminded me of like when I talked about
buying a phone for when the phone broke.
They had a back of AC. They bought a whole
AC. Insane. Insane.
This has got to be doubly frustrating
for you and Meg Gavin, because a lot of people
don't know this who don't live in Austin.
But this is the hottest
two weeks of the year.
Yeah. So I'm like...
Like, you couldn't have...
You couldn't have timed that better.
We've got three fans of the
bedroom, and it's where the cats have been living,
because we don't want the cats to cook.
And it's been pretty rough.
I woke up four times last night.
Because I was too hot.
And in the end, I just, I just had to splay out.
Like, just completely naked on top.
You know, cock just sad looking on the side of my leg sort of vibe face up.
That's how I sleep.
I can't sleep that way.
Isn't it crazy to think that that's how humans had to sleep,
sad cock laying on the side like that?
Yeah.
For all of humanity until, like, 135 years ago or so.
I've been privileged enough to sleep with a comfortable cock almost my entire life.
Yeah.
I think I'd have to put a leaf.
I need a leaf.
I need some grass, some moss.
We are so fucking fortunate.
I feel unguarded.
It's not even a naked thing.
It is just a like I feel exposed.
Like I could be attacked.
It's like a weird.
You're afraid somebody's going to attack your wiener while you're asleep?
Like that's what I'll go for.
I'm not thinking about my wiener, Jeff.
I'm thinking about my body as a whole.
I don't know why you zoomed in on the wiener on this stuff.
You said you had to put a leaf on it.
Yo, I meant my body, not my...
That's a big leaf.
Where the...
What kind of prehistoric fucking ass jungle are you living in?
I'm living in a pomp...
I'm getting a pompon.
I'm thinking like survivor style.
Do you think there's one leaf that could cover your entire back?
Nah.
Not, no.
Maybe lengthwise, but...
One leaf to cover him all.
I'm just thinking about leaves that I've seen used in like forts and survivor.
Shelters.
Here's a guy with a really big leaf.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, the answer is yes.
The answer is yes, then.
There are, you know what?
You know what?
Some bigger leaves than I thought, but here's the thing.
I think in general, you're going to find medium big leaves,
and they're not going to be, they're not going to be big enough.
You'll need a couple.
Yeah.
I just need to, I need some, because I've been living the same life as Gavin.
I haven't had AC for a full week now.
It's been about the same temperature every night.
Wait, what?
And you had to leave your whole apartment for that.
Yeah.
It did.
Yeah.
It's broken again.
Didn't take?
Didn't take.
It was an issue.
It might be a broader issue.
Is it just your unit or is it everybody in the building?
I got an email yesterday
informing the entire building
that the unit would have to be turned off
for a repair.
I don't know if that's related to what I'm going through or not.
But I felt no sympathy for those people.
Respectfully.
I was a full week.
Full weekend.
It's so hot.
every single night and this room is small, the bedroom,
and I have my computer and my monitors,
and so it just makes it even hotter.
You turn that off at night, though, right?
Yeah, yeah, I do.
Okay.
So I need to.
It's too hot.
Blowing warm air in my face,
the only solution I have.
Fans better than nothing.
But I've been experiencing the issue you're talking about,
Gavid, has been naked on the bed,
but also feeling like I need a blanket.
I can't sleep just exposed.
I need to like, oh, it sucks.
I feel like I used to feel the same way,
but when the surrounding air feels like a blanket,
I feel like I'm fine without it.
I wish I had that.
Brutal.
Dude, that sucks, Gavin.
I'm sorry.
That really sucks, man.
Yeah, I think it sucks for the...
And for you too, Andrew.
It sucks for both of you.
Yeah.
It's just the week...
The weather was mental the last week.
It's been like 40 degrees or something.
It is...
It's the hottest.
So like all summer it's been like warm
But you know every other summer it's like
Well it's the 110th day over 100 degrees
We hadn't really had that
Up until about
I'd say like a month ago
Until about 10 days ago or so
Yeah I would say
I would say just a couple of weeks
And then Gavin decided you know what
AC's not for me
It's tough
Each day has been more brutal than the last
This last weekend was untenable
It's been rough watching the temperature stack
like each day
it becomes like one degree
hotter at night.
Like the sun being down does less.
Yeah.
Emily and I decided this August
that we have figured out
our future in that
maybe we don't need to buy another house
or maybe we do, I don't know,
somewhere else, but we just are not
going to be in Austin in August anymore.
Just find somewhere else to be in the month
of all, every month of August from here on out
and that'll be fine. June and July is totally
survivable. September's fine.
It's August. It's the killer.
And kids go back to school in August in this country.
Yeah, they fucking do.
Somebody sounds excited.
Yeah, try walking the little bastards.
You have to walk Archie to school?
Nick's kid started school.
He's been walking Archie to school.
Yeah, it's not bad on the way there.
The way back.
Oh, I see.
I got it.
Why?
Yeah.
Why? He doesn't want to go.
He wants to be at school.
You know, he just loves school.
I was confused why the way back was worse than the way there.
The afternoon.
Yeah, I feel like in England, the peak of the day would be the hottest,
and then as the sun gets lower, it cools down.
Here, it gets progressively hotter, literally until the sun sets.
So, like, 5 p.m. is just roasted.
Yeah, there's nothing hotter than, like, 5 p.m. in August and Austin.
It is fucking brutal.
And it's the stillest time of the day, too.
So there's, like, no wind or relief either.
It's brute, like going from this, I went back to San Diego for a couple of days, and it was like, oh, right, the sun goes down earlier and it also starts cooling down in the afternoon.
And there's like a breeze and you don't have to worry so much about like, oh, it's like untenably hot all the time.
Oh, right, it's not like this everywhere.
It's definitely not that whether you want to keep pushing bicycles in.
Have you been pushing bicycles, Jeff?
Zen?
Well, do you remember how?
How's your Zen going, Jeff?
He seems Zen.
I'm pretty zenful.
I got to say, my Zen levels are in the high 90 percentile.
I'm still, I'm maintaining my inner piece.
I'm staying strong.
But I am cognizant of the idea that I may have traded a gentle ghost situation in the last home that I owned.
in the rental period, there was nothing.
Just the animal cereal killer, right?
But I may have traded the gentle ghost
at the old home I owned
for a situation I have in now,
which may be a Bermuda triangle
of bike problems.
Pretty near
in the vicinity of where
that I got that flat tire.
Well, let me roll it back.
You know, I got that flat tire.
And I was off my bike for like a week.
That's when I...
It was the day I discovered I was then.
I got the flat tire, the immediate test.
I passed the test. I walked my bike home.
I decided to have somebody come out and fix it because it needed a tune up,
needed some other work,
because the derailier was kind of jacked.
And so I had somebody come out like five days later,
and they fixed it on a Tuesday.
That afternoon, I got on the bike,
and I went and I took the exact same route,
and maybe 100 yards from where I got the flat tire,
my bike turned off.
Oh, no.
And I couldn't figure it out,
and I fucked with it for a while,
and I got it to turn back on,
And so I went down the road a little bit more and it turned off again.
And then I realized at some point,
there's a problem I have with the bike is that the key,
the locking system on this bike is jacked up somehow.
And so the battery kind of fits loose in it from time to time.
And I guess something happened in the repair and now it's super loose.
And the battery was just falling out and it wouldn't stay in.
And I had to walk my bike home again.
And even further from the last time.
And it was literally the next time I read my bike,
I had to do that.
But I solved it with duct tape.
Oh.
Does it not just become bike when it turns off?
Yeah, it becomes heavy bike.
Oh, okay.
Heavy, heavy, heavy 110 degrees outside.
Heavy.
48 pound bike.
Yeah.
It goes from an e-bike to a 48-pound hunk of metal,
whereas most bikes are like 15 pounds.
Wow.
That's crazy.
I haven't written it again since, but I think it's fixed.
I taped it.
Did it, now, I want you to be honest, that don't try to impress Andrew, do you feel like it has affected your Zen?
No.
Wow.
That's great news.
Wow.
I'm going to be honest as well, Eric.
If it did, I wouldn't be happy about that.
Sort of a lame way for his Zen to end.
I agree.
I don't, I don't want him, but I want him to be honest.
Not just with us, but with himself.
I am worried about whether or not I should start avoiding this.
part of town.
Where you live?
Well, it's about three miles
from where I live. So, you know.
Maybe give it one or two passes. And if you get like a
third thing, then that's definitely a been beginning to
triangle. Yeah, yeah. There was
just part of, there was this like area
of, I don't know,
fucking farmland up in, when I used to
live in Colleen up at Fort Hood. And you
just get bored on any night of the week
and it was just fucking, you know, there's nothing
to do in Colleen, Texas. And so
you just drive around in your truck and listen to the Beastie Boys
or whatever. And there was this one lonely country road where every time we would drive down there
at night, you'd get far enough down this path. And it's just fucking fields and fields. And then all
the, sure enough, like if you get to this one area, all the lights and stuff on your car would
start to go off and the music would die and all the electronics of your truck would get
fucked up. And then you'd drive through and it'd be fine again. And it would be like, you'd take
friends there to scare each, to scare them because they wouldn't know about it. But it happened
every time. And I'm wondering if that's what's happening with my bike.
but at Zilkark essentially.
You look out your car
and half your face gets tanned.
Oh.
I think we need to properly set
Jeff's end of Zen.
Because when you said that Eric,
because Eric said to not impress Andrew,
I assume that that was because
I was the one that was like,
I can't wait for him to lose Zen.
I can't wait for the moment,
for the podcast.
I just think, you know,
I just think he's mindful of you more than most.
I see.
I'll tell you this.
I had a bigger test than the bike.
Oh.
And it was related to this podcast.
It was related to this company, rather.
Interesting.
And it was a decent size test this week.
Happened yesterday, actually.
Okay.
Day before yesterday.
Did it involve the bank?
Didn't involve the bank, believe it or not.
It involved the post office.
Oh, no.
First off, let me say that, you know, we have a break show.
Almost every Monday.
We live break on Twitch, collectibles,
ephemera, sports, and pop culture,
but also from time to time,
the audience will send in mail to our PO box,
and we will open that up.
And sometimes it's cards and stuff
that they thought we would have fun opening up.
Sometimes it's a hamburger trophy
or a jersey from their minor league hockey team
or a myriad of wonderful,
creative pieces of art or whatever.
And we love it.
And it's sort of a spiritual holdover
from the show Gavin I used to do
at Achievement Hunter called Awu,
where people would send in,
so much mail and then that mail would turn into content. It's how we got the moonball.
It's a really fun way to generate new ideas.
But about three weeks ago, I went to the post office and there was a giant tube that was so big
they had to keep it at front at the post office. And when I walked up, they yelled at me about it
and they told me it was too big and that I should stop having stuff sent to them that big.
And I didn't ask for it. And I still don't know. I think it's carpet or something.
and we haven't opened it yet, right?
Somebody sent it to us.
We were going to open it on break show,
but we just haven't had a break show yet.
Whatever.
Weird anomaly, I handled it.
Luckily, that day I had Emily's SUV,
so I was able to leave.
Because remember, I'm not John Mace.
There's not a, there's not like a rooster teeth department
that handles incoming mail.
It's me and my Ford or sedan.
And so when I went to the post office on Wednesday
to get the mail,
there was the little yellow slip that they always
give you. And in the
post office box it says, hey, there's a
larger piece of mail that won't fit in your box
come around to the front. So I walk around to the
front and it's just this old lady that
works there. She's very lovely and she's
shooting the shit with a cop
that I'm not kidding you
is maybe
6 foot 7. And he's
a motorcycle cop
so he looks like chips. He looks like
Ponch or John from shit. He looks like John
from chips because he's white. So it's just like
this big doughy 6 foot 7. And he's a
with like the tall boots
and the jeans with the strier
the pants with the stripe on them
shoved into the boots, right?
And the goofy hat
with the bill flipped up
and the sunglasses, the whole deal, right?
He looks like he's,
he looks like he went down to Lucy in disguise
and got a costume of crunch or John from chips
and is wearing it.
But he's a real copy and he's six foot seven.
And they're shooting the shit.
And I give the lady the thing and she goes,
oh, this one.
I go, oh no.
Oh, no.
And she goes, hold on.
Let me go talk to Tim or Tom or whatever the guy's name is in the back.
She comes back out and she goes, you know this is going to be $100.
And I go, I'm sorry?
She goes, you got to pay for this.
You have to pay incoming fees on this one.
And I go, oh, okay.
Yeah, that's not a problem.
I'll pay it.
And she goes, are you sure?
And I go, yeah.
And she goes, what is it?
And I go, I don't know.
And I go, she goes, well, okay.
And the cop now hears me say, I don't know what somebody sent us, but I'm willing to pay $100 for it.
And that piques his interest.
And he goes,
Great. Cool.
He goes, hold on.
You're going to pay $100 for this?
And I go, yeah, they mailed it to us.
And he goes, and you don't know what it is?
And I go, no.
And he goes, don't you think that's weird?
And I go, no, it's a business.
It's a P.O.
I'm not paying.
I'm not paying for it.
It's a company expense.
And he goes, huh.
And she goes, well, it's going to be big.
I hope you got a big car.
And I go, oh, God, what am I dealing with?
And then she goes, let me get him to bring it around.
And she goes, but before, before I have him bring it around, I got to tell you, stop.
don't send stuff this we can't handle mail this big this is like twice in the last month you've had an
oversized package here stop sending stuff this big and if you don't know what it is you don't need it
and I'm like I'm getting yelled at by this lady right and the cop is now like super interested in it
and he's like wait a minute people just send you stuff and you don't know what it is and I go it's a
PO box it's a business and then this other guy pushes this box around to the corner to the front
it's four feet tall
and it's a big square.
Oh no!
It's not heavy.
I can lift it.
It's not heavy,
but it is too big to fit in my car.
And he goes,
what the hell is that?
The cop goes,
and she goes,
yeah, I was wondering that too.
And I go,
I don't know.
And she goes,
and you're going to pay for it.
What the fuck?
Just charge me and I'm sorry.
I'll get out of here.
And the guy goes,
well, I want to know what's in there.
And I'm like,
well, I don't,
I don't know.
I don't know.
He's like, here's our Twitch cam.
And the cop is literally like, listen, you're paying $100 for something and you don't know what's in it.
I want to know.
Like, he's not that overt with it, but it's close.
But it's close, right?
Because I get it.
The cop's looking at me in this situation.
He's like, this motherfucker's getting drugs delivered or some sort of illegal.
He's paying hundreds of dollars to receive giant boxes that he doesn't.
And he's real cagey about it.
He doesn't know what's in it.
He doesn't want to talk to me about it.
So I opened it up in front of the cop and the lady to show them what it was.
Wow, really?
That's some like Fourth Amendment shit happened.
They didn't make me do it.
No, to be fair, they didn't make me do it.
I said, you know what?
I'll just fucking open it.
How about that?
Because I'm pissed at them and being in the situation
and I'm feeling like fucking judged.
And it was a plastic chair.
It's in the office.
You can see it behind you.
We'll talk about it on the break show.
But the other thing about it is,
and maybe not sending giant packages to us,
is that that plastic chair was broken.
It's broken in half.
It's split down the middle.
It's useless.
It's got me and Nick are looking at it right now.
It's broken.
It looks like a very expensive design within reach chair.
I don't know who sent it to us.
There was an envelope on it.
I haven't had a chance to read it yet.
I just dropped it off of the office.
I thank you for sending it to us.
But I then had to carry it through a city of Austin parking garage up three flights of stairs.
Well, actually, I took the elevator.
Wow.
And then get out.
And then I had to take it completely out of the box because it doesn't fit in my tiny little car
and then wedge it into the back seat because with the passenger seat down
because it doesn't go into the trunk.
The trunk is where I had to flatten the cardboard box
that it came in and put it in.
And it's just a lot of, I just, like,
all goes to say that like,
maybe don't send big stuff no more
because it's real hard on your old pal, Jeff.
I'm not an, I'm not an industry.
I'm not a group or an office or a team of people.
It's just me and a tiny backseat.
And it's getting to us broken anyway.
And the male people are mad at me.
And now the cops think I'm doing something
elicit and they're essentially
making me open up the packages in front of them
and I just don't, I want to avoid this in the future.
I don't know about that last one. I'm not sure
about the last one. But I, yeah, yeah, I don't know about that last one.
But I understand the sentiment
of what you're saying. Can we make you new
business cards that say I'm not an industry?
You weren't there. It was,
it was like, it was real
intense the pressure I was feeling.
And they were just like, I just don't, it's a hundred dollars.
No, I'm not, I'm not discounting
that. I understand that.
I'm just saying that I, you know,
I don't know that they're making
Yeah, I don't think you're on a list.
No, I definitely understand
that that's how you felt.
Well, if they were,
nosy as shit.
I may not be on a list
with some random cop who was standing there,
but I'm definitely on a list
with the people at the post office
who know who we are and don't.
And we are the problem at the post office.
She goes, why would they send you a chair?
And I said, I don't know.
And she goes,
and just walked away.
Why do the post office people
not understand the concept of a PO box?
I don't know
I don't know
I mean there's
here's the difference
I would say to that
or the answer to that question
I would say that there's
probably 500 PO boxes in there
and we seem to be the only problem
I think 499
other PO boxes seem to be handling
business just fine
I seem to be the issue
every time I'm in that post office
so maybe they don't have a lot of public
facing PO Box
I get
listen dude
there's like three different people
who work the front
at that post office. And I have, and I am as kind and as polite and as friendly and as genteel as a person
can be. I am eschewing just, just lovely positive energy because of the situation I'm in with them
every week. And I have every single one of those motherfuckers rolls their eyes when I come through.
They are, they never want to see me. When they see me, that means they have to get up and they have to
go into the back and I have to hear a bunch of boxes get slammed around for 30 fucking seconds.
and then they wheel out a shopping cart of mail.
And they go, why do you get so much mail?
And I go, I don't know.
And then I got to go take a shopping cart,
once again, through downtown Austin,
because it's the downtown PO box,
into a parking garage,
up a couple of flights of stairs,
then unload everything into my car,
then return the shopping cart.
It's like an hour process to go to the mail,
to the post office sometimes for me.
But that's just, that's people sending in normal stuff, right?
Just a, that's a volume of stuff.
But all our poxers are big.
very few of the boxes that we get fit into the P.O. box, even though we bought the biggest one they had.
We need like a P.O. Room. Yeah. A P.O. Room?
Yeah, we used to have one at Roosterty's. We had a P.O. room. It was cool.
I'm just saying, as much as I love to get mail from the audience, and I encourage you to send it.
Maybe let's keep it, let's think about size. Let's think about what can fit in Jeff's car.
What if we have for the break show, one of those luggage-sized things that you have to fit your box into?
If it doesn't fit in, then you don't open it.
But then, like, wouldn't you miss on things like the trophy, the burger trophy?
Burger trophy would have fit easily.
Really?
Yeah.
How big of a box do you think the Burger Trophy was?
I haven't seen it, unfortunately.
Andrew, look at the...
Take the chair that you're sitting in right now.
Stand up.
Imagine that chair in a box wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
That's the size I'm talking about.
I'm not talking about a trophy.
Send me all the trophies you want all day long.
when it's a carpet that's seven feet long and weighs 80 pounds or when it's a box that's 80% the size of a human and doesn't fit in a normal car, I'm just, I'm trying to avoid those situations.
Do you think that this will be an effective way to deter this?
Here's what else I'm trying to help avoid.
I'm trying to help because, no, I understand that what I'm doing is I'm asking the audience to send even larger stuff to be funny.
But this is how that's going to play out.
They're going to reject it and send it back to you.
And you're going to pay $150 to mail me a joke that I don't get.
Because the post office is sick of it.
And they're going to start.
They're like, we're not accepting packages as big for you anymore.
Have you thought about showing up in a disguise?
Now we're talking.
Because maybe they just don't like you.
Yeah, this is good.
This is good. This is good. This is good.
I agree.
You know, the best disguise that I could probably wear thinking about it
would be if I just was Eric or Gavin or Nick, and they took it over.
Yeah, I don't think that, I don't, I don't think that disguise is going to happen, buddy.
What better disguise for Jeff than that, than being a completely different person who has equal
ownership in the company and also has a key in the office that they could go and check whenever.
Yeah, but I think the concern for the other people that you named for this stuff versus the
concern that you have for this stuff is, uh, I don't think it's like a matched thing.
See, I don't think the disguise is going to work, Andrew.
I think it might. I think it's worth trying.
What if every package you get sent has to have a disguise in it for you to use next time?
I mean, it's still...
Yeah, Jeff, what if?
It's still the name on the back.
Yeah, but I'm saying it might be you.
They might actually just be sick of you personally on top of them.
No, they're not.
I mean, they're sick at me because I understand what you're saying.
And I think a great way we could test that is if Eric or Gavin got the mail next week.
Yeah, Gavin, go nuts.
All right, so Uber XL.
That would actually probably work out better.
I guess they could just wait outside.
Wait outside for you.
You don't go through the parking lot.
Well, yeah, why don't you do that?
Why don't I get an Uber XL every time I want to check the mail?
Yeah, why don't you do that?
Just in case there's a big packet?
That is one consideration.
Big ideas from Gavin.
with you. Team F it.
Yeah, man.
All right. I'd love it. I'd love it.
I'd love the assist.
This sounds like it's defeated you.
I don't know if it's broken your Zen, but you see me.
It hasn't broken my Zen.
I'm saying this is the closest I've come.
It's just like,
I just want to, when you go in just to
check the mail for five seconds, and then
you are 40 minutes into the process,
slicing up a cardboard box in a parking garage
when it's 110 degrees outside for,
a chair that is already broken that you know you can't use.
It's pretty defeating.
I will say there was a time where you were going there and getting no mail.
And I feel like this is the better end of the bad stick.
100%.
100%.
I don't want to sound like I'm complaining that people are sending this stuff.
I'm not.
It's just that we're just limited in the scope of what we can receive.
The size.
Yeah, the size of what we can receive.
So like a porta potty would be no good.
We don't know.
We don't have three airplane hangers like we used to.
We don't have any airplane hangers.
We have zero airplane hangers to store stuff in.
And so.
We have a rat attic.
We do have a rat attic.
And I encourage you to go up there and start putting stuff in the rat attic.
I think that could be Nick's domain.
No, Gavin will help me.
Sure.
Gavin, you can help him?
Yeah.
He's just through the heat.
Yeah, yeah, I've been, I've, I've started to feel really self-conscious because I was really yelling and screaming about the AC just like 20 minutes ago.
I didn't realize that they're here right now.
Oh my God!
Gavin!
I can hear him crawling around.
Is it the same?
Did you, did you change people?
It's the same company.
I don't know if it's the same literal two people.
I, yeah, I don't know how I'd.
Because they really fucked you on the first go-around.
I would argue they made the situation worse.
I'd say they fucked you on the second go-round, too.
Yeah.
I just definitely paid,
I definitely paid for a $6,000 thing that I didn't need.
Yeah.
It probably had a really slow leak.
Yeah.
And now $6,000 more, it'll be fixed.
I'm going to see what, I don't know.
I don't even know how to argue.
Like, it's the new thing.
Are they going to...
Are they going to charge for the refill is what I'm wondering?
Yeah, maybe they'll create it.
They shouldn't charge you for the refill.
Yeah, that'd be great.
Yeah, you're going to get all.
You're going to get the recharges for free.
I guarantee you if they already put it in.
If it leaked that quickly, they'll cover that.
Yeah, please.
That's not going to help.
In the grand scheme of things, you already paid $6,000 or something you don't need.
But you're not, you're going to save a couple hundred bucks on that.
It does help for a night.
It gets down to like 75.
Yeah.
When they put, when they put the refrigerant in and then it's all gone by the morning.
That's such a fast leak, dude.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, yeah.
Speaking of a, we were talking about Z.
We were talking about falling down recently and sort of like the last straw.
I think Andrew had his falling down moment.
Oh, what?
What happened?
Are you falling down moment?
I think you had a last draw scenario this week.
Wow, when was this?
Well, Eric, what you may not know is that when we had the Monday morning meeting,
Oh, no.
Jeff made a joke right at the beginning of the meeting.
and then Andrew left the meeting and didn't come back after about 25 seconds.
He said meeting adjourned.
He said meeting adjourned.
And then missed all of the stuff we talked about and that was confused about when we were recording the podcast.
Yes.
But there is a misinterpretation.
I wasn't like angry, angry.
This is the thing.
We have a social guy that I've been friends with for a long time.
and his name is Jeff.
But I refuse to call him Jeff
because I have Jeff
and another Jeff already in my life.
I can't have three Jeffs.
Too much.
So I call him by his
online handle,
abbreviated, so I just call him urge.
An urge is always his name.
The solution in this company
has been to call him Jeffrey,
which is way too fancy of a name
and it kills me on the inside
every time I have to call him that.
He's not a Jeffrey
On Slack, he's full Jeffrey
I know
We only know him as Jeffrey
But I bet you were the only people
That refer to him as that
He does our socials
And he also helped Dan
And by helped Dan I mean
Dan helped him get the lasso achievement
In Haler 2
So you left because you were mad
That I made a Jeffrey joke
Yes, essentially
But then I was committed to the
bit. So I had a terrible sleep the night before. I got like one hour of sleep because of the heat.
I show up. Nobody says anything. It's quiet. And then...
That's how everything starts. Well, no, typically there's like conversation. People are
tempted. Like, it seemed like nobody wanted to start or initiate anything relating to this meeting.
You had just come in in a lull. We had been, we'd, I think we'd been talking. You just hit a general
lull in the conversation. And then I was like, okay, well, then I guess I'll, we're,
First we said, yeah, I don't think there's going to be like anything to really cover in this meeting.
Because we already have everything like scheduled out.
You said that.
And then Jeff agreed.
We had a half an hour meeting.
I understand.
I'm telling you what happened at the time.
I didn't know at the time where we were all like, and maybe you didn't say it, but Jeff definitely was like, yeah, I don't think it'll be much to cover in this meeting.
It wasn't much to cover, but it was a good half hour.
So then I brought up the first note.
I was like, okay, well, then let's start this meeting.
and I bring up the first note
and I say Jeffrey and it kills me on the inside
and then Jeff makes a joke about
name confusion
I just said which which one are you talking to
me or him? Yes. And then you just left. And the whole
structure of I have to call him Jeffries because you're Jeff
you're never Jeffrey. Nobody will ever call you Jeffrey here
unless it's like Jeffrey like it's a joke thing
and it was not a joke. So then I said meeting adjourned
and I left
and then I just stared at the meeting thing going,
huh, I feel like I'm really committed to this bit,
but like this is, you guys are still going.
That's a long time.
And I thought a lot about like, should I rejoin?
Because you guys have been in there for like 10 minutes at this point.
Yeah.
But I felt committed to the bit.
For the record, people in my family call me Jeffrey.
That's fine.
I am Jeffrey to some people in the world.
Oh, wow.
I don't mind it.
Yeah.
That's fine.
not the context to which I'm...
I just was trying to avoid confusion.
I get the point you're making with the joke thing.
It was more just I was committed to the bit of it
and less that I was actually at all annoyed.
It wasn't a falling down moment.
I wasn't then...
I didn't leave and then go to the McDonald's
and complain that the breakfast menu that I wanted
was no longer available as of a minute ago.
And then start like smashing up a Korean shop?
Yes.
It does...
It stuck when you're stuck on the...
the joke, you're stuck by the joke.
Yeah, I left and I was like, I feel like
I'm committed to this bit at this point.
And I don't think there's anything important.
It was sort of me
misunderstanding the Wednesday
recording thing was, I would say,
pretty irrelevant to that. Well, that was
what was funny is that we talked about how, because Eric was
in San Diego or whatever, we were recording
the podcast on Friday,
which is today, instead of
Thursday, when we usually do it.
But Andrew, you seem to look
at the schedule
and you said on Tuesday
confirming that we record the pod
tomorrow at 9
which is when...
What was that?
Which is Wednesday at 9,
which is when it releases.
So I see you just looked at the...
I'm still confused.
I'm still confused about that.
I'm sweating.
I'm hot.
I'm not sweating.
I saw the thing on the schedule
just wanted to make sure.
So I wanted to make sure
I wasn't missing anything.
We also used to release them at 8 a.m.
Central.
Or, yeah.
What?
There's a point in which we used to release stuff at 8 a.m.
And now it's 9, and I didn't notice that we had flipped that.
What are you talking about?
Still 8?
Still 8?
Still 8 as far as I know.
Oh.
What are you talking about?
I don't know what I'm talking about.
I'm guys.
Well, to be fair, it does say 9 a.m. on the calendar.
Oh.
Okay.
Do you think that's what Andrew was talking about?
Yes, I do.
I guess.
Because you guys are questioning me.
My confidence is at an all-time low.
I will fold immediately at any push.
Why? Now, why is your confidence at an all-time low, Andrew?
I just don't want to be yelled at.
Yell that?
Yeah.
Who's yelling at you?
I just, whatever you say, it's so good, man.
Oh, Andrew.
You're right.
No, don't do that.
No, it's exuberance.
It's exuberance.
Oh, yeah, exuberance.
So, when we were recording our longest video ever yesterday.
Do you want to say what that is because I wasn't there for it?
And I want to hear about this.
We can say it a second, but I hadn't considered that Gavin and Andrew were both quite uncomfortable physically the entire time.
Yeah.
See, I took that for granted, Nick.
I didn't even think about that.
You guys must have been miserable.
I was literally disgusting at the time that was done.
And it was the same with a, we did, like, we finished the GTA heist the other day, which was the same issue for me with the no AC.
But also, I had one hours of sleep, and I was jet lagged.
and I could like barely see what I was doing.
My vision was like all that stuff.
You did really well though.
No, I didn't.
Yeah, I agree with Gavin.
All right, don't take the compliment.
It's additionally upsetting because it's warmer in here than it is outside
because of all the tech and how small the spaces.
It's so upsetting.
It'd be like, it's fucking 29 in here, but outside it's 25.
is bullshit. What is happening?
Eric? You know what so, man?
We yesterday, we wanted to do some
supplementals, right? So we recorded the big
walk, video one
of the big walk, which by the way, did you a solid
you would not like that game. You would hate it. Is that right?
We all agree that's not a game for you.
But we all like it a lot.
And so we did like, I want to say like
over an hour in that game because it was pretty
engrossing. We were trying to solve puzzles.
And then as soon as that we were done, we rolled
into another piece of advent.
content. Andrew
wanted to do the 30 turn
Mario party that we do
that we've done every year. I don't want to say we do it
every year. We just have done it every year.
That doesn't mean we will continue to do it every year.
I think it's a fun, yearly staple until
we at least play through all the Mario parties.
And so we wanted to do a different
one, so we did an older one
and I got to keep some secrets.
Ed, when we loaded it up, they
had a 50 turn option and
Andrew goes, oh yeah, that's what I meant. We're doing 50
turns. And so we did a fucking
50 turn Mario Party yesterday.
Oh, Andrew.
None of us knew we were what we were getting into.
Gavin and Nick immediately had to call their wives to change plans.
And then we were just buckled in.
And I don't think we finished.
I think we started around like 1.45 and we weren't done until 6 p.m.
Oh, no.
I think it's the best game of Mario Party we've ever played.
So many fantastic moments.
I've got to say, there's some genuinely good stuff in Advent this year.
There's been some like insane stuff.
I feel bad for the audience because half of it is me making callbacks to August stuff when it was recorded.
But yeah, there's some, there were some moments in this Mario Party for sure.
I also didn't know it was a 50 turn game.
I just looked up what Mario Party has snow level.
And that was what came up.
Well, there was 35 turn as an option and 20.
Yeah, but we always do the most amount of turns, I feel like is the spirit of the thing.
It's not that we're playing 30.
We pick 30 turns because it's the most turns in the other games.
It was 46.
We'd play 46 turns.
Like the 30 has just been the average across the games for the most part.
I don't know if there are any other games that have 50 turns.
I don't think I've played all the Mario Parties, but it's insane.
Yeah, a lot of the older ones do.
I think they only started reducing it in the modern era.
Really?
because it's I assume unhealthy
to play Mario Party for five hours
Did it make you feel sick?
A bit?
Yeah.
It was an adventure.
We went through
an entire experience.
I would say it was a good day of recording.
Had a lot of fun by the end of it.
One of the things that was the most interesting
about it, Eric, and it made it, I think,
all the more immersive is there's no,
at least I didn't see an immediate way
to tell what round you were on.
and so we didn't know the entire time
until there were 10 rounds left
it flashed and told us and then it told us of five
so we just didn't
we were just guessing the whole time
and arguing about how far into the game we were
yeah it felt really defeating
if we were like well we certainly have to be at this point
and then we looked at it and we were like
10 turns below what we thought so it was a
nobody's checking these turns policy
until we got there
it just felt like it was never going to end
I've been in the lab
Oh, you've been in the lab?
Your lab thing.
Do you want to finish your thing and then I'll do my thing?
I was just going to make a little detour about the Bermuda Triangle.
I'll go for it.
I've never looked at where the Bermuda triangle is
and there's like livable spaces within it.
It's very disappointing.
Yeah. Also, I'm open to the idea that it may not,
it doesn't have to be a triangle.
It could be another kind of shape.
I'm just going off of, you know,
other popular shapes of weirdness,
but this could, you know, and I'm not trying to rehash old rooster teeth jokes either from Red versus Blue,
but it could be some other kind of, it could be like a Bermude hexagon or something, I don't know,
or it could be a Bermuda circle.
I think if you keep going through it and stuff keeps happening, you could start mapping out the
Oh, that's a exact location, yeah.
All right, I'll tell you what, I'm going to ride my bike, well, probably not today, but maybe tomorrow.
and when I do, I'll map that area.
If anything odd happens, I'll stop immediately and plot it.
The Bermuda Triangle is just like this mythical thing to me as a kid that I would hear about
and like be in shows.
It's like this insane, crazy area that is inaccessible.
Like all of sort of the presentation of it that I imagined,
all of that is kind of deflated just looking at where it's located on an actual map.
I feel that same way about Quicksand.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's another great one more important.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Just felt like it.
But, but I want to keep this moving along.
I want to know about Gavin's lab.
Well, I've, I've been inventing.
I think there's a lot going on in the world right now.
There's a lot of people have influenced trying to turn people against each other, turn generations against each other.
I think there's a, they're forcing a divide between the millennials and the Gen Z, the Gen Zs.
And I feel like we got to stick together as generations.
And, you know, get Gen X as well as well.
Historically, the way it's gone.
Yeah.
And Jeff, you told me Gen X had never had a president.
Like, nothing ever really happens with Gen X.
Yeah, no, we're just kind of the forgotten generation.
But that's the way we like it.
I think we've all got to stick together.
But there is one area there where millennials and Gen X, no.
Millennials and Gen C cannot agree.
and that is
how a microphone is used in videos
Oh
Okay
Gen Z love holding the lapel mics
I feel like all millennials think
You like a fool and it sounds stupid
So I've come up with a device
That blends the best of both worlds
It's a
Lapelle mic
Wow
It's a baby hand
It's a little hand that holds it for you
But you still have both your hands
free. You're so smart.
That's so good Gavin.
Gavin, you're a genius.
And I think with this...
I think with this device,
we'll have nothing to argue about.
It looks like,
in the third photo, it looks like a
baby is climbing outside of you.
Like it is, like a chest
burster. Like it is
punched its fist with a mic
from your chest. It is on its way out.
How secure is that, Mike?
Could we start using these for the break show?
Yeah. So,
The arm is attached with a magnet, and then I guess you could...
I've just squeezed the mic in between the fingers, but we have different mics at the
office, so maybe a little bit of tape or another magnet or something.
Yeah, tape.
I mean, they might be a little heavier, but we can probably make something work.
I think we gotta start putting this in practice.
Because, like, when we start using it, other people will start using it, and then before
you know.
Did you 3D print this baby?
Where did you get this baby on?
I just bought the baby arm.
It was a part of a...
It was a part of like a chicken fighting thing.
What?
It was what?
You can buy two arms on a piece of wire to put on a chicken, so it looks like they got arms.
We have some in the office.
Somebody sent them for Dilbot once.
Oh, cool.
We have something similar.
That would fit great.
I was thinking it would be a funny bit if over time more and more the baby started coming
out of your shirt.
Oh, you wanted to be like a quade situation.
You wanted to be...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like eventually, eventually there's just going to be a full baby day going from your shirt.
Well, maybe it needs to be a full-size arm then, because I think the baby is getting away from the...
Like, it's not supposed to really be a baby.
Yeah.
I don't know, this is great work.
Maybe it'll grow, and by the end of it, it'll be a mannequin arm.
I'm always the same of the lab.
It would be funny if all of a sudden one break show, we all had these on, but people watching hadn't seen this episode.
It's not going to make it sound any fucking worse, so sure why not.
What do I care?
So did you look how to buy an arm?
Like what was the process in which you came up with this?
Did you see these arm things and thought, oh, this would be funny and related to this?
Or did you go from the other end of like, I want to try to find like a hand that can hold it?
No, I wanted a lapel arm that holds the bike.
And I worked from there.
I think I just searched dull arm.
How far did you have to search to find this arm that you liked?
I think it took me 10 seconds.
Oh, right.
Just in a immediate fan, the perfect thing.
Yeah.
It's beautiful in its simplicity.
And I do think it's generation bridging.
I think it's fantastic.
Do you like that?
Eric made a meme of absolute cinema, black and white.
I mean, it's exactly the same thing.
I couldn't believe it.
He did the pose.
It's the same thing.
Oh, he did do the pose.
It's the same thing.
So funny.
Scorsesea baby Mike.
You just like, I couldn't believe it.
We'll leave that to Jeffrey.
He could post that.
He's going to be having a lot of fun.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
What's his name?
Sorry, absolute or what's his name?
Urge.
Gernge.
Gernge?
Gernge.
Gerns?
Whatever you guys want.
Unger?
Well, I think this is a great idea, Gavin.
I think you're on to something.
I think you're.
I want to start using it in our business.
I agree. I think we definitely can. I think we have to figure out how we can get something that's like you were talking about oh we have like these other arms. Maybe we have to tape them. I'm worried it's going to drop too far. I think we need like robot arms. I think we need something that's like stronger. Well I think that's part of the cool. It's like it can be skin to be anything. You could have a baby arm. You could have a robot. You got like a T-1000 arm. You could have a gorilla arm. You could have like a fish gill. Well, like whatever. Maybe you can have like a basket, some type of.
a basket to catch it if it falls as well.
You keep the arm.
You add an attachment in case it falls.
Like the arm is holding a basket?
Uh,
like there's a,
imagine like half a baseball glove is also protruding,
but from lower in your chest to catch the mic if it were to drop.
I like that you're such a big contingency guy.
Well,
you're talking about needing a stronger arm.
I'm saying maybe you keep the arm and you just create around the arm to,
to solidify it,
to solve the problems.
I just like the idea of someone.
installing like streetlights and we're like, we're not sure if the bulb is going to stay.
Let's put buckets below more instead of just making the bulb good.
Well, if you have a very cool looking streetlight, you don't want to replace the streetlight
necessarily. You want to do everything you can to preserve the streetlight. Yeah, chestburst
alien with a little hand holding it up would be sick. Wouldn't that be really cool? Yeah. Yeah.
I think that, I think, I think we're on to something. I think something might be, there might be something
here. I'm proud of you for getting in the lab.
Yeah, I just missed the lab.
Have you used it? Oh, yeah.
I mean, other than those photos,
did you shoot a Slow Mo Guys video?
Or like an interview or something?
No, not yet, but I can sneak it in.
And Meg, I collaborated
with Meg again because I like her to be a part
of all of the inventions, but she
crafted the magnet system.
Oh, that's awesome. It's a good system.
It's great. It really works.
You got in the lab and I'm really happy to hear that
because I actually got in the lab too.
Holy shit.
I know.
It's rare.
It's rare.
It's rare.
I went to San Diego.
It's a great little getaway.
My friend Sean from Mega 64
throughout the first pitch of a Padres game.
Incredible.
What a time.
I thought that for me,
that was the peak of what I would be doing
on this whole trip.
And then I found out on the way home
from Los Angeles
to Austin, Texas.
I was offered something.
Oh, man.
I was offered,
and it's in Slack now.
Oh, Slack.
Oh, is this going to be what I think it is?
Is that?
I was, hey,
Hey, boys.
Hey, boys, I was offered something.
I was offered an airline smashburger
on my flight.
Oh, that's, you know what?
That's a way better smash burger than the
Gavin had.
How?
Was it better?
Oh.
Yeah, how was it?
Andrew, just before I get into the taste
before anything,
would you eat that smash burger?
I mean, it's a very blurry photo,
but it looks a lot more smashed.
To me, like an essential part
of the smash burger
served that crispy edging,
like it actually being smashed.
Or if you were to look at the Gavin Burger,
there is no crunch around.
on the premiere. I didn't post a picture of my burger.
Yes, you did. I didn't take one.
Eric did. I posted a photo of what those burgers looked. I found a photo of it, yes.
So I guess I didn't specifically know, but I assumed the standard
based off of Eric's burger. Might look similar to that, but just you could see the sheen on it.
This looks a lot. Well, and once again, it's dark and it's blurry.
It was, it was dark on the plane. Yeah. The blur is because it was dark. And I didn't
want to use my flash on my camera phone.
I don't think that would have helped the appealing look of it.
No, I agree.
I agree.
But Andrew, just based on that, would you eat that plain smash?
The edging of it seems a lot better.
But it's hard to tell the thing.
Like, for me, it's all about is it actually smashed or not?
Uh-huh.
It seems fine.
I would probably eat that.
I thought a lot about this whole thing.
And realistically, I definitely would have ordered the smash burger in
Gavin's scenario, but I wouldn't have eaten it.
I don't agree with you. You would have eaten it's fine. That's fine. Wait,
why would you have eaten Eric's, but not mine?
Because it has, I didn't see mine. I didn't see yours. I'm basing yours off of what the
photo that Eric shared of it. That's not mine though. Okay, but I can't, I don't know what you
want for me. Okay, I wouldn't have eaten it. Never mind. Did you take a photo of yours,
Gav? No, it was almost pitch black. The only thing in your life you had didn't take a picture of.
So we only have Eric's picture as representation.
Well, I thought Andrew wasn't eating them just as a blanket rule for the IBS or whatever.
I didn't think the actual look of the edging of the meat.
If I were going to order a burger on this plane.
It was the excuse that he got to eventually, yes.
But that's not the reason.
He said that it wasn't smashed enough from the photo that I had sent previously.
That is also a factor.
I feel very passionately about fake smashburg.
It also had lettuce and shit on it, didn't it?
Which Smashburgers don't traditionally have.
This has, if you look in the top left,
there's a little ramekin that has accoutrement to put on your smash burger.
That's up to you.
How did you dress your burger, Eric?
I put, I threw some tomato on it.
I put the sauce on it and some onion and some lettuce.
What was the sauce?
Everything but the pickle.
Oh, Jeff.
In fact, it was Shake Shack sauce,
Because that is a shake shack smash burger.
It did look a little bit of a shakey.
I thought the paper.
Yeah, with the paper, yeah.
That is from flights, certain flights,
to Austin or from Austin or something,
you can get the Shake Shack Smash Burger on your flight.
When I saw that it was potentially offered,
I did everything I could to make sure I got it.
Absolutely.
That's nuts.
Wow.
I got in the burger lab and I had to see what it was all about.
I had to see.
Maybe we should all agree to always order the smash burger if it's on a menu.
If it's available.
On a plane.
If it's there.
But here's the thing.
The day of this recording is the 28th.
This might be what you're looking at.
That might be my final burger of the whole year.
Because September the 1st.
September the 1st is coming up.
And that's the end of the burger count.
By the time this episode's out, burger count's over.
Are there 31 days in August?
Sounds right.
Yes, yes, there are.
So, the 31st is Monday.
So Monday is the final day.
Monday is the final day.
Tuesday, if you eat a burger on Tuesday, it's clicked over.
Mm-hmm.
So between now and Monday, get your final burgers in.
Can we get a count?
You want to know where everyone's at right now?
Yeah, why not?
Okay, at the time of this recording, which is August the 28th,
Eric is at 34, Gavin is at 14,
Jeff is at 88.
Let's see.
Nick is at 43
and Andrew is at 77.
Wow.
Some good burgers.
Pretty good burgers.
Pretty good burgers.
Oh, I scroll past the colonoscopy again.
Oh.
The Shake Shack Smash Burger on Delta Airlines
highly recommend.
Oh, good.
Fantastic burger.
That's incredible.
It was so good.
Okay, Nick's updated.
He's at 45.
Sorry, I was driving when I ate those.
I'm pretty sure I'll hit 90,
but we will end the contest
with none of us hitting the 150
that is the national average that is reported.
But I also have to say,
I've been thinking about this a lot lately,
this has been a physically difficult year for me
in terms of like my gastro issues.
And I can't help but wonder
if I can draw a line between 90 Hamburgs
and a year of di-riticulitis.
Yeah, a correlation.
Yeah, I don't know.
Maybe.
I don't know that there's anything there or not,
but it definitely gives me pause.
I would say that the worst bowels in our company
have done the most burgers.
Congratulations, ma'am.
But now you don't need another colonoscopy for like two years or something.
Seven.
Seven years.
Seven years.
Seven years.
Seven years.
I graduated.
I went from five to seven.
I fucking.
It's like,
I'm breaking a mirror.
Seven years a good luck.
What if the burgers did that?
Yeah, the burgers healed.
you, kind of stopped you up. So we don't need to decide it right now, but I would love to start
thinking ahead on if we're doing another food count, what that food would be.
Pizza. So. Got to be slices of pizza, right? I think pizza is the natural thing that everyone goes
to, but I can't find a national average for pizza. We don't have, again, we don't have to do it
right now. We can get into it next week. Not a big deal. So we can get into it next week. It's not a
big deal and we can sort of sort it out and see what the national average for pizza slices
is but I feel good about, I think pizza slices would be pretty good.
You want to do spaghetti count?
Why not?
You know, I, I hate to say it, but I might be, I might be inching towards Eric on spaghetti.
Yeah, it sucks.
It doesn't suck, but it is like, just like, I'll take any pasta over spaghetti at this point in
the mood for, I agree.
You surely want to take angel hair over spaghetti.
I just took Angel Hair the other day of a spaghetti.
Oh, very interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
How about that, Gavin?
What a weak noodle.
Weak noodle.
It's a delicate noodle.
Angel hair.
I wouldn't say weak.
It's just none of the satisfaction.
Agreed.
No bite.
There's no bite.
It's like eating M&Ms as pills again.
No satisfaction.
All of the downside.
None of the upside.
That's right.
I'm with Gavin.
Cool.
So let us know
If you guys find the national average for pizza
Leave a comment on YouTube I suppose
But I'll look at my notes there
Because I did read somewhere about it a while back
And I was surprised at how low it was
So I'll do some looking
I was out in Burbank
And I was filming with James Willems
In Scorpio Sky
And we were talking about the pizza average
And the like the burger average
And the hot dog average
And they couldn't fucking believe
The hot dog thing
But then the burger thing was
like, oh, I could, yeah, 150? Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, I could do that. No problem. And then it was
like pizza and they went, I don't, how many do you have to eat? And I have no idea. I can't
find it. I couldn't find it. But they were very interested in how many pieces of pizza you would
have to do in a year. Wow. Yeah. Pieces. There's a lot to it. There is a lot to it. We'll have to do it. We'll have to put
our research glasses on and dive into the catacobos. I cannot wait. We can find.
Nickel duck, duck go it and we'll figure it out. Yeah. I want to talk to you guys
about something. Before we wrap up, I know we're getting close.
And so I wanted to bring this up. I, uh,
I've been watching a lot of,
for the last week or so, a lot of
1983 and
1984 prices, right?
There's a channel on TV that's all the Bob Barker
era prices right. And Emily has been doing a
latch hook upstairs.
And we just sit on the sofa and I
hand her the, like I sort
the different,
uh,
I don't know, fabrics, I guess,
or what do you call?
Yarns.
I sort of the different yarns for her,
and then she puts them in and we watch the prices, right?
And it's delightful, and I'm fascinated by,
I remember loving it as a kid,
but I had no idea all of the different levels of sexism
and misogyny and just like insanity
that was going on day to day in that show.
That show was off the rails.
It was just a dude with a microphone.
Bob Barker would like get into fights with the audience,
not like, you know, good-natured fights with the audience,
but he would shit on him.
He was mad at everybody.
It was crazy.
And while we're watching it,
I got to realize him that there's a guy
or a group of guys or ladies
who are behind the scenes
who are the set designers of that show.
The set designers and the game designers
of that show.
Like there's a production designer
or a set designer on that show
and it was their job every week to come in
and figure out how to make a game
putting a golf club
or a plinko machine
or to make two little
fake tonka trucks race each other or whatever it was.
And that person or those individuals had to have at that time the best fucking job on earth.
Like it was just grownups playing and making kids games for grownups, making them bright,
vibrant colors, wrapping them in fucking velvet and fabric.
And then they only had to half work because it was funny when they failed.
And they failed as much as they worked, by the way.
You don't remember that.
You don't remember when you think about the prices right
that all of the, everything failed and broke.
And Bob was always having to fucking force it to work
and yelling about it at the time.
And that got me thinking,
what are some of the other best jobs of all time?
And I don't expect everybody to have an answer right now,
but something to think about.
You know, like, we should identify these sons of bitches
that were very quietly living the greatest lives among all of us,
had the best job on earth,
kept it to themselves, didn't want anybody else to know about it.
because they wanted to protect it, probably very smart.
But there have to be other Price is Right art departments out there in the world,
that it just have these, like, amazing, perfect jobs that you just don't realize.
Yeah, I always thought working on something like Taskmaster would be similar,
where you're just coming up with these really goofy games that are, like,
some of them don't work great.
And that's, like, a part of the comedy.
Like the people who test everything on Survivors.
You always see their backs, you know?
Sure, yeah, the dream team, I think they're called.
Yeah, dream team.
It only interesting to also like
learn how those jobs sucked.
Like on paper everything you're describing is great, Jeff.
But I could also see overworked, underpaid,
having to meet deadlines constantly,
like incredibly stressful TV production schedules.
Getting roasted by Bob Barker on camera,
pretty funny.
Getting roasted by Bob Barker off camera,
probably a very different experience.
Yeah.
100%.
I bet those people fucking hated.
and feared him.
Oh, for sure.
And every time the latch didn't go down
when he hit the big giant red button
and he got mad,
somebody went,
God fucking damn it!
Yeah, no, I'm sure it was miserable.
But at the same time, too,
they were building giant vacuum cleaners
out of styrofoam, you know?
There's been a lot of props for sale
from Price's Right.
Is that true?
I've noticed, yeah.
A lot of, like, giant checks
they used in the show.
I saw they had a,
full life or life size
version of the hill climber
for that yodeling game
where it goes up like
for whatever reason
there's been a lot of like
prices right props
I've noticed recently for sale
so maybe something to look into for you
maybe something to look into for us yeah
I was thinking the other day that
designing our office of the future
if you will like our perfect office
what it would entail because I feel like we're getting
pretty close we got the earth shaker
I've got a lot of the tech
that we need. We got the record player.
I think the next logical
conclusion, it would be
cool if we could ever
fit a pool table in an office. I think that would be
awesome. But I think what we do
have room for would be a jukebox.
Oh.
Jukebox is fun. I've never
owned a jukebox. Never thought about owning a jukebox.
But I know that when I go to a bar
and they have a good jukebr I don't go to bars anymore,
but when I would go to bars and they
had a good jukebox, I suddenly
warmed up to the place
tenfold and I just wanted to hang out there
and play the same songs over and over again
because I was amazed that I could hear it on a jukebox.
I think it'd be fun if we ever stumbled upon a jukebox
to get one for the office.
Would you want one that's like the little vinyl singles?
Yeah, I think so.
Oh, that'd be sick.
Like an old-timey real one, yeah, if we could get one.
Oh, I bet we could.
Something to keep our eyes open for it when we're, you know,
too little over there.
Although if you have one and want to send it to us,
it won't fit in Jeff's car.
It's true.
It would not fit in my car, yeah.
Don't do it.
don't do it he's going to get so mad
and the cop is going to arrest him
I just I'm telling you guys because they're at their limit
like the lady was like we've had
we've hit our limits stop
yeah I know they're calling the police man
and so if if you send something and you pay a lot
of money in shipping and then the post office
rejects it and it goes back you don't get that money back you just
lost 150 bucks in shipping sitting it's something that they wouldn't
receive sometimes you have to pay 120 bucks in shipping
for things that you didn't order or the person
who paid for it didn't send you that's true
so is there is there an update on that
at all Andrew? Oh yeah.
They asked
what are the dimensions of the package that you're going
to send this back in and I sent it to
them and then they said,
cool, I'm figuring this out. I'll get back to
you and that was over a week ago.
So I still have it.
No.
Still have it. Don't want
it. Hate owning it.
Yeah. Have you tried to wear it yet?
No.
I can't. It's insanely
when I saw it.
how much, what percentage of body
was covered by it
in the scene, blew my mind.
It's so small.
Cynthia Nixon is a very tiny person.
Okay.
All right.
We got to wrap this one up.
Let's go ahead and take this
out back and, you know, it's over.
We don't know what we're doing with the rest of the day
because nobody had the meeting or whatever,
but I'm excited to find out.
When are we doing the movie wrap-up?
Some of movies.
once the league is over.
What, yeah, that's what I'm asking.
Middle of September.
Okay.
There you go, middle of September.
So probably like September 20th.
Yeah, not today, Gavin.
I think we said September 16th would be the final time.
Gavin wants to do it today.
He does.
No.
Although I did see a funny comment that said,
I have made a hundred million more
than every pick Eric has picked
in the last two summits combined.
But mutiny, I think, comes out
or is about, like,
It's like, it's poised.
Yeah, yeah, it's poised.
So be careful.
Word of mouth, Gavin.
I'm ready to, I'm about to,
I'm honestly, I'm about to make my move.
So be careful.
Is it truly a Spider-Man killer?
Many are saying it.
Could be.
Many are saying this.
That's what they were saying.
They were saying Spider-Man alone has done that.
That's crazy.
I don't understand how there are still people
that need to see Spider-Man.
I haven't seen it yet.
I haven't seen it.
Good.
But I'm saying it's like,
and saying that it's like 900 million.
It's just another Spider-Man.
movie like it is. I get
those movies aren't incredibly popular.
It's a loved character, but it's just crazy
to me how well that movie is doing.
I just think it's the only good thing happening in Marvel.
Yeah. Real bum that they canceled Blade.
I was very excited for that.
I know a big Blade fan here as well.
But you don't have to worry about
regulation getting canceled because who's
going to cancel us? Eric?
No, he's not allowed to unless three of us say
and the rest of us aren't going to let it happen.
No,
cancelations here. We'll be right back next week for episode 122 of the Regulation Podcast.
And I know that you, or at least your ears, will be here to listen to it. We love you.
Talk to you later. Bye-bye. Bye-bye. Bye. Bye.
