This is an iHeart Podcast. I'm here in Atlanta where Ward Dunn had his annual charity golf classic.
28 years of his foundation of helping single families get into homes.
And so we're going to talk about that.
We'll also talk about the drama in California, how Donald Trump has been itching for a fight
sending in US Marines to quell protests there, but he is being blasted by
the mayor of Los Angeles, the governor of California, as well as Democratic governors
across the country.
Also on today's show, folks, Sly Stone has died at the age of 82.
The pioneering artist will talk about his legacy.
We'll get an update from legal analyst, Candace Kelly,
in today's Diggy Trial.
And lots more for us to unpack.
Folks, it is time to bring the funk
on Roland Martin Unfilcher.
On the Blackstone Network, let's go.
Whatever it is, he's got the scoop, the fact, the fine And when it breaks, he's right on time
And it's Rollin'
Best belief he's knowin'
Puttin' it down from sports to news to politics
With entertainment just for kicks
He's Rollin'
It's Uncle Roll-Roll, y'all
It's Rollin' Martin, yeah!
Yeah, yeah!
Rollin' with Rollin' now!
Yeah, yeah!
He's funky, he's fresh, he's real, the best, you know he's Rollin' Martin!
Now!
Martin! The vice president Kamala Harris said that Donald Trump was going to send the army after you.
And the Hill newspaper said, oh my gosh, she's lying.
Well, guess what happened?
Donald Trump's sending 700 Marines to California after ICE—well, we think it's ICE—individuals
proclaiming to be ICE, wearing masks, not showing any IDs, starting the violence over
the weekend that's led to massive protests there.
Now, Trump, J.D. Vance, Republicans, they want to make the claim that, oh, my God, L.A.
is going up in flames.
When?
That is not the case. It is not the case.
And the mayor has said so.
The governor has said so.
The Los Angeles Police Department has said so.
But this is what Donald Trump wants to do.
He desperately wants to use the military to quell unrest, what he perceives to be unrest
in this country.
His immigration policy, it started— they literally went to a school, a school
graduation, elementary school graduation, cause parents to flee, leaving kids stranded
there.
That's what we're seeing happening.
How, how ice is operating.
They even arrested the head of the SCIU union, uh, there in California.
Let's talk about what's going on there with our guest,
Rudy DeLeon, a senior fellow,
National Security International Policy Center
for the Center for American Progress.
Also, we have California State Assemblyman Mike Gibson
with us as well.
So glad to have both of you here.
Mike, I wanna start with you. Just give us a sense of the madness happening there.
You have the LAPD that said peaceful protest. You have the mayor say that.
So, the people in Los Angeles are saying one thing.
Donald Trump and his em-maggot folks are saying totally something different. That's right.
First of all, thank you very much, Roland.
Exactly.
The president has sent in the National Guards, and yet, today, in 24 hours, we will have
700 Marines coming into Los Angeles to try to keep the peace according to what the president
is trying to say.
We have had peaceful protests taking place. We have had young people put some things on
fire. But, by and large, I want to say, by and large, it has been peaceful protests taking
place.
I want to underscore what has taken place. When the National Guard, under
the direction of President Donald Trump, have sent those National Guards here, it further
inflamed what is taking place around the national, around peaceful protests taking place.
With ICE or those masquerading as ICE agents, going into graduations,
going into elementary schools,
going and pulling kids out of school.
We had a elementary school student in Torrance,
at Torrance Elementary School,
being uprooted at the elementary school
and being deported now in Texas,
and God knows where this child is.
We had one of our labor leaders, David Wurtha,
who went to a demonstration, who was singled out,
who was abused at a detention center,
and he himself was detained, abused,
sent to a hospital, was refused any kind of medical attention.
The mayor was called.
The mayor sent medical attention there,
and he was transported to the hospital
and then detained and placed in a detention center
and was isolated, and no one was able to see him.
And today we had a demonstration,
and today he was actually released on bail.
But that was thousands of people rallying in support.
This has been further exacerbated by the Trump administration by bringing in these militarized
units, coming in with AK-47, with assault weapons, with tanks, with military kinds of
weapons, and terrorizing our communities.
And our communities are paralyzed, but also enraged.
This walking down the street, we had one man testify,
said he was walking down the street with his girlfriend
and they jumped out of the car.
He was holding to his girlfriend.
She pulled out her phone, start videotaping.
They threw him to the
ground and just grabbed her and threw her in the car and arrested her and drove off.
He don't know where this girl is at. And she's a United States citizen. She was born and
raised here as a college student. And this is what's happening in the streets of Los
Angeles. And people are damn mad. I am mad at what's going on right now. So he is furthering, flaming
hysteria and just outraged what's going on here in Los Angeles.
And so, to bring in the National Guard, to bring in 700 Marines, he's causing a war right here. Americans to further Project 2025 in this country.
I'm looking at this tweet right here. It said, ICE raid Los Angeles elementary schools to
make welfare check on first graders principal blocked entry.
Disguised federal agents told school staff they had parents permission to take
kids out of class. That was an outright lie. They quickly hit their IDs when asked
for details, arrived in unmarked cars and wore casual clothing, leading to confusion
about who they actually were. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that the
agents worked for them,
but they claim they were not technically ICE agents.
However, the federal agents said they were at the school to make a welfare check
on students they claimed were quote, unaccompanied minors who crossed the border.
The parents and legal guardians deny any interaction with these entities and
certainly did not providing authorization for
these individuals to have any contact with these children at the school.
I mean, this is what's crazy. These people are doing whatever the hell they want to do.
We don't know who they are. They're not showing IDs. They're hiding up their masks. We don't
know if they're proud boys. We don't know if they are the Patriots group, white supremacists.
We literally do not know. And Donald Trump's folks act like we don't give a damn.
We don't have to tell you.
And that's just right.
We're not gonna release our children to complete strangers.
They could be pedophiles who fall weak for all we know.
We're not gonna allow anyone to come up to our schools
and grab our kids just to say that,
they're doing a welfare check.
So we've been educating not only our principals, but our teachers, but our communities to know
their rights, not to...if someone knocked on their door, no, we want to see papers,
we want to see a sign order by some kind of a judge.
We are educating our community to making sure that they know their rights. And to have these individuals go after children, minors, and trying to gain entry into their
homes or to elementary schools, how dare you, Donald Trump, and also ICE agents?
Have a conscience.
So, you know, these are the kinds of tactics they're doing to our communities.
Yes, our community is scared.
And so we're calling on everyone to, one, know your rights and making sure that we,
you know, Black and brown, one, stand together, because we know that we're powerful when we
stand together against these kinds of attacks against our communities.
And so our mayor, to even just yesterday, to have one of Donald Trump's appointees to
say that any elected official stands in our way, we will arrest
not only the mayor of the city of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, and the governor.
How dare you threaten the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, who was a former member of Congress,
but also our governor of the state of California?
I mean, you are stooping to these kinds of low kind of tactics.
I mean, damn politics. This is
the leader of our state, the leader of the mayor of the city of Los Angeles. You threaten
that you're going to throw them in jail? How dare you? These are our leaders. These are
what were elected to lead the state and the city of Los Angeles. And you're going to threaten
them?
All that's going to continue to do is anger Californians. And that's what they're doing.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters, under the law, the members of Congress have a right to, one,
look at detention centers and making sure those who are being detained have the right
to do welfare checks. And they were denied entry into those facilities. Jimmy Gomez,
Congresswoman Torres, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and the whole entire L.A. delegation was denied entry by law they have a right to.
That is, again, a slap in that delegation's face.
I hope that they will go to Congress today and tomorrow and raise hell.
Well, I'm bringing Rudy right now.
Rudy, first of all, you're seeing something.
Donald Trump is not targeting red states.
He's purposely doing this in blue states.
He wants to provoke action.
This is what he wants.
This is exactly what he wants to accomplish.
So thanks, Roland, for the invitation to be on your show.
You're right.
Today, the use of military units into a domestic environment,
that should always be the tool of last resort.
But deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles right now
just seems to want to inflame the situation that
started with the ICE agents last week,
and it could lead to an increase,
not a decrease in the tensions and the violence.
It's actually unheard of for units
like the National Guard in California,
and now the Marines, to be deployed
without the request of the governor or the mayor.
That's the standard practice.
And so by every measure, the LA police,
the sheriff's office, the surrounding municipalities,
they should be in charge of dealing with their own citizens.
LA is a complicated place.
It has a lot of history, Some good, some not good.
But I think in this particular case, the law enforcement are the face to the community
and for the community.
And to bring in Marines who are very capable but not trained for this mission.
They're trained to deal with guerrilla insurrections or other
complicated missions overseas. So we put them in an impossible situation when we ask them to
come into one of our big cities, particularly the Marines that are coming from 29 palms,
because that's a training center where you train the Marines for military combat, not
for law enforcement.
Police officers are trained to defuse situations, not to escalate them.
Now to the Assemblyman's key point, I know a little about Torrance, California, because
long before I worked in the Pentagon for President Clinton, I actually was raised in Torrance, California. So I know
the people, I know the community. It's Hispanic, it's Asian, it's Caucasian. Everybody gets along
with each other. So I think we're walking into uncharted territories.
You know, this is a time where the White House
this afternoon has put up all of the fencing
for the big parade that's to occur at the end of the week.
It's not lost on me that the men that were driving
the forklifts and putting up the security fencing
were mostly speaking Spanish with each other.
That's a strength of our diversity back with each other.
And so sometimes you put the accelerator on,
right now is a time to break,
and that's let the mayor and the governor
be the face of the response.
And then everybody should take a step back
and remember that our Bill of Rights was written
because there were things, there were checks.
We did not want a King of England in the United States.
And when you look at those 10 amendments to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights that
we now take for granted, that was exactly what was intended to countercheck. So it really is a sad day to see our troops
being deployed in this way.
Well, I think one of the things that we need to recognize here,
again, when you talk about what a person's intent is,
Donald Trump was not lying when he said
he wanted to be a dictator.
He wanted to be a strong man.
He praised—he's praised other autocrats, other dictators as well.
And what I hope—I hope with his actions—and, Maga, look, they're gone. But I would hope the 90 million
Americans that did not vote, I would hope independence. I would hope these people are
waking up and rising up and recognizing that these people do not give a damn about the
Constitution. They do not care about checks and balances. They want to do whatever they want.
And there's only one party that is going to stand up to them, and that is the Democratic Party.
Donald Trump's party, the Republican Party, they are not going to do anything to put this man in
check. They simply are scared to death. They are scared to criticize him.
Senator Lisa Murkowski talked about death threats that Republicans get.
So it's real simple.
They're not going to do anything, and this is where the people have to rise up and, yes,
take to the streets to say, no, this is not what we are going to tolerate
in this country.
I'm going to go to Rudy first on that.
I'm going to Rudy first and then I'm going to go to Mike.
The president should be the first person to try to diffuse the current situation and not to escalate it.
And so that's the environment that we need to step into right now.
You know, the irony of the announcement of the Marines moving was made at 4 p.m. here
in Washington so it could lead the national news tonight.
We really do need to change the storyline on not how do we escalate this, but how do
we turn it over to the local community, to their leaders, and let them solve this?
Well, again, Mike, I don't have an issue with the local leaders solving this. But what I
am saying is, this is not going to end just right here. Donald Trump wants to instigate a fight.
And the people need to understand they cannot sit on the sideline watching this thug do
what he is doing.
I absolutely agree with you.
And it's—and right now, Congressman Maxine Waters said at an event that everybody needs to get
in this fight.
It's not just Latinos, African Americans.
We call on all those whose names have been written down, who are still alive, those who
fought alongside Martin Luther King and John Lewis and others in the 60s and 70s.
We call upon them right now to stand with us, even with the young people who's trying
to gain their legs, to get involved in this fight, because we need everyone who is able
bodies to be part of this fight, to be part of this narrative.
We call upon those, because it's going to call, it's going to mean that all of us end
this fight together in order for us to, one, to making sure that we are able to flip the houses in next year,
that we can gain and kind of redo what, reverse what has, Donald Trump has been done with
these executive orders, and making sure this is Supreme Court, most of all.
The Supreme Court holds the line to making sure that they stand up against Donald Trump,
because I know that the governor
of the state of California, and also our attorney general, Rob Bonta, has filed lawsuits against
this administration this week for what they're doing by bringing in the National Guard.
This is our domain, and it's not the president's domain. This is setting precedents. And we
need to make sure that we push back in a large way.
The state of California, the legislature has, one, given the attorney general $25 million
to want to make sure that he is armed with the resources that we need in order to fight
against and file lawsuits against this administration, like we did when he was president the first
time.
And we're going to stand toe-to-toe with him. And, again, he's picking these fights, and we're going to make sure that we stand toe-to-toe
with him.
We're not going to cow down.
And, again, California is a donor state.
We give $80 billion as a donor state.
And I'm asking because of all the cuts and all the federal resources that he's cutting
away from California, diverting these monies, clawing monies back, that we don't give these monies to the federal government at all, especially what he's doing
to us.
We should not be giving these monies to the federal government at all.
He is treating, he is pissing on California. He's picking a fight with California. And
I think there's going to be a fight that we will give him one back.
But, one, with all of the ammunition he's coming and the artillery he's coming
in with to California to wage war. This is a political war that he's using the military
against California to try to prove some kind of point. This is wrong, because he's hurting
Americans. He's hurting Californians.
And this should not be done, because if Barack Obama had done this, if Joe Biden had done this, it would
be outpours all over the world, the country.
But because he's doing this with Elon Musk and others, we should stand up against all
of them and call him what it is.
Oh, well, we had Congresswoman Maxine Waters on the show last week, and she said she absolutely called for nonviolent
resistance to what is going on.
It must be constant pressure.
The concern, Rudy, though, is that Donald Trump is so unstable, so unhinged, that people
are afraid that he is going to sick law enforcement on folks if they do protest.
But frankly, fear cannot be the overriding issue here.
This is where I think we'll be assisted by many of our elders.
And I really hope that what is happening in California awakens people because we are seeing
this all over.
Later in this, when I talk to my panel, we're gonna talk about a Chilean woman who was in New York on vacation with her child,
who cops just arrested her, left her 12 year old daughter
there and then held the woman for eight hours.
The woman was on vacation.
These people are simply unhinged.
Rudy?
You are, you know, you are exactly right. Everybody needs to come and vote I'm not sure if that's the right word. Rudy?
≫ You are, you know, you are exactly right.
Everybody needs to come and vote.
And we need to change the climate.
California is one of the great states.
And the notion that a president would, you know,
disgrace it like we have going on right now just can't stand.
going on right now just can't stand.
But also, we're dealing on. I appreciate you.
Yes, might go ahead.
It is if if those 90 million people,
if all what has happened right now
doesn't awaken those 90 million
people stayed at home, I'm not sure
what will if they are not convinced
that this administration should not
be in the White House should not be in power. I'm not sure what will. If they are not convinced that this administration should not be in
the White House, should not be in power, I'm not sure what will. If they have not seen
what's going on on TV and all across this country, just look at what's going on in California,
I'm not sure what will be enough to convince them. If they have not seen enough bloodshed,
you know, all across this country.
Just look at California as an example.
I'm not sure what will.
It's too much at stake for anyone to stay at home in this next upcoming election next
year that we cannot afford to, one, have another two more years to allow this man to stay in
power.
Enough is enough.
And we're calling on everybody to do everything we can in a peaceful manner to making sure
that we can regain our democracy back, to control America, and move it back to what
it once was, a sensible country.
But this is not the America that we know.
Well, Mike, here's the point that I consistently make, this is the point that I consistently
make on this show.
The election in 2026 is in November.
The reality is we cannot wait until the election in November 2026.
People must be making their voices now, I believe, through nonviolent protesting, which
is important because there are also state elections.
There are things that need to be happening.
But in order for us to get folks there, we have to be informed them,
enlighten them, educate them on what the issues are.
And I'll be honest, there were a lot of people who said,
yeah, he's not going to go that far.
I don't think he's going to do that.
I've heard this numerous places.
Now they are seeing everything Hillary Clinton said, everything
vice president Kamala Harris said, everything that we said about
product 2025, all these things are real.
And if they've already shown you four and five and 10 and 20 and 30
times, it's going to be more.
And so people need to understand,
they are serious about what they're doing,
they're executing the agenda,
and only the American people,
if they stand up and rise up,
can they stop them?
But if people remain silent and quiet
and meek and weak,
then they will be emboldened.
Gentlemen, I appreciate you all being on today's show.
Thank you so very much.
Folks, we're going to go to break.
We come back.
I'm going to talk to my panel about this here.
Oh, and that was a time when Donald Trump said, oh, no, I just can't send the National
Guard in because I want to.
Hmm.
Yeah, we have that for you.

The window to invest in Fanbase is closing.
We've raised over 10.6 million of our $17 million goal.

We have seen white folks in this country who simply cannot tolerate black folks voting. I think what
we're seeing is the inevitable result of violent denial. This is part of American history. Every
time that people of color have made progress, Whether real or symbolic, there has been what Carol Anderson

This is the wrath of the Proud Boys

America, there's going to be more of this.
Here's all the Proud Boys guys.
This country is getting increasingly racist

So let, I want you all to stop here where the guns are. So let's...
I want you all to take pictures of these guns and let people know that they're in our city
with guns, and I'm sure they have artists to shoot and kill.
I don't know, but otherwise they wouldn't have guns.
One question, Representative, Ms. Waters.
If there's one statement that you...
or message that you can send to Donald Trump. What is that message here today?
My message to Donald Trump is, you are a cruel human being, and that you are using the poorest
people in the land, the most vulnerable people in the land, to promote your politics.
You are wrong.
We know what this is all about. We have people who are immigrants here who are trying to seek a better living,
who have come from places where they have experienced this kind of thing that he's doing here today.
People who work every day, people who are paying taxes, who are raising their families, who are supporting education.
They should not be treated this way. They should be given an opportunity to tell their story,
whom they are and why they're here,
and ask the United States to please do
what the Constitution allows us to do,
and that is give them consideration
for having citizenship here.
Ms. Maxine Waters, thank you for those words.
Another thing, do you find it coincidental
that this is happening at this time of the year right now?
Is there anything that you can correlate with the timeline
that it's happening with right now alongside?
No, I think that the president has not been able to live up
to the threat that he used during his campaign,
where he was going to get millions of them out of here.
And I think it's come to the point where he thinks he's got to show something.
But also, his ridiculousness as taking over the armed services to celebrate his birthday he's coming up.
And people are saying, are you going to spend millions of dollars celebrating your birthday,
using the armed services to do it? And I think that adds to it.
All of this is coming to the forefront now.
Congresswoman, how should the city of L.A. and the state of California react to this?
What's the smart play here?
First of all, all of the elected officials in this city should be on the street.
The mayor should be on the street, the city council should be on the street, everybody should be on the street.
All of the state elected officials, all of us in Congress, we're supposed to be in Congress tomorrow, but I want you to know, I'm trying
to stop him from getting richer and richer on crypto. The more money he has, the more
powerful he has, the more he will elect people. So we got a lot of work to do.
So bodies on the street, basically.
Bodies on the street, people on the street, absolutely.
Ms. Waldo, before we let you go, anything that you can say to anybody watching or the public
that wants to come out here or just simply watching or wants to know, anything that you want to tell them
that they should do or shouldn't do?
Well, here's what I want to support.
I want to support people having a voice.
Peaceful protests are okay. They're all right.
I want them to know what happened in the civil rights movement, Boys, peaceful protests are OK. They're all right.
I want them to know what happened in the Civil Rights
Movement, where we got on the street, where we marched,
where we fought, and we made the government change,
and we got voting rights.
Peacefully.
Peacefully.
And so people can protest peacefully.
They should come out, and they should have a voice,
and they should not allow the intimidation to force
them to do nothing.
Do something.
Do something.
Do something.
Do not let the intimidation force you to do nothing.
Do something.
Words from Congresswoman here, Maxine Waterston.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
All right, folks, joining me right now on Roland Martin unfiltered, Teresa Lundy.
She is principal and founder of TML Communications out of Philadelphia.
Ben Dixon, pastor, political commentator, author, joining me from Atlanta.
Glad to have both.
Ben, I'm gonna start with you.
I mean, he's a thug.
We know exactly who he is.
We know exactly what he wants to do.
We know what he wants to achieve.
He wants this fight.
He wants to pick, I'm sorry, Julianne Malvo, president
emeritus, Binnick College author out of D.C. She's also with us. My apologies. Folks,
this is what he wants. This is the fight that he wants. This is the battle he wants. He
is a thug. He is behaving like a thug. He's behaving like a dictator. And that's who Donald
Trump is. Absolutely.
We know who and what Donald Trump is and what this Trump is and they all play their hands
in ways when they have shown exactly how easy they are to come down with the fangs of fascism
and put the military out on American citizens.
They have shown that even in the slightest pushback,
any slight collective action against this regime
will be met with new force.
And if you own that victory, clearly,
we are at a very decisive moment.
Are we going to be intent and intimidated by this reality,
or are we going to stand up to this reality?
And I really appreciate the conversation
we had with the previous guest
because it really contextualizes it for black people.
There are a lot of folks who are telling,
and tell black Americans to stay out of this,
that this has nothing to do with us.
But if you know Donald Trump and you know what MAGA is,
you have to understand they are always looking
for an opportunity to use these weapons against black people.
And so if we stand down in this moment, because we know there are reasons, it's convinced
us that what has happened to immigrants is not relevant to us in and of itself, right,
the morality of it.
But we will be co-signing the very instruments, the very brute force, the very stop vote that
want to be used against us.
So this moment is very, very important. We want to be used against us. So this moment is very, very, we have to take a step.
Julianne, again, what we are looking at
is someone who desperately wants to pick the fights.
He's attacking the governor of California.
I mean, to sit here and actually say that the governor of California should be arrested is just insane.
We also know he's a liar.
We know he just makes stuff up.
This is Donald Trump a few years ago talking about the National Guard and the power that
a president has, and boy, it sounds
a little different than what's happening today.
Do y'all have the clip on the control room?
Guys, this is wrong video.
Thank you.
That's not so.
Okay.
So, um, all right.
So the thing.
All right.
Now roll the clip.
I promised four years ago at the Democrat, the Republican convention, I'm going to restore
law and order.
And I have accepted Democrat run cities.
Look, we have laws.
We have to go by the laws. We
can't move in the National Guard. I can call insurrection, but there's no reason to ever
do that, even in a Portland case. We can't call in the National Guard unless we're requested
by a governor.
Julianne, did you hear Gavin Newsom request the National Guard to come in?
I don't think so.
Didn't.
Karen Bass didn't.
The county executive in Los Angeles County didn't.
The fact is that this man has lost his you-know-what mind.
He has had the temerity to talk about Joe Biden's acuity.
When he's shown all lack of acuity,
he talks about law and order,
but this is unlawful disorder.
What he has done is really,
I just feel like I'm back in the 70s
and we're living in a police state.
And we're living in a police state.
That's what it sounds like. That's what it sounds
like. That's what it feels like.
And I go back. And back in the day, free Huey rally, 1969, in San Francisco, that was my
first activism. And I'm looking at this crap and thinking, this man has lost his bloody
mind.
But the fact is that Republicans refuse,
Roland, refuse to stand up to him.
They are so coddled that they bend the knee
and spread the cheeks at every opportunity that they have.
And so here's what we have.
We have people who are, this is lawlessness,
19 countries, Roland, 19 countries rolling 19 countries?
Travel bans and where are you when the travel bread then occurs this man is bloody
crazy, but guess what
FAFO a whole lot of people voted for this fool
They voted for this fool and now they're seeing it
But all of us are seeing it and I'm just frightened,
really frightened, not scared, but frightened about what might happen as people are traveling,
as people are moving around, as people are attempting to live their lives, especially the
little ones. When you take a mom and leave a 12-year-old, what are you saying? What are you doing?
leave a 12 year old, what are you saying? What are you doing?
We have, I mean, I'm almost apoplectic,
but I'm almost speechless, which as you know,
was not a common situation for me,
because I just, I don't get why no one has stood up.
Thank you, Maxine Waters for being there.
Thank you so many others for being there,
but they all have to be there and they have to put their foot down and tell that Maryland
farmer that he needs to get his act together.
But you're not going, Teresa.
You're not going to have Republicans stand up.
So I mean, so let's just take it off the board.
They're not the Republicans who are in Congress
at a news conference praising Donald Trump
and saying, oh, please do this to restore order
in our state.
And they were sitting here, we know they were lying.
We know they were lying.
They're not going to call the man out.
So it ain't gonna happen.
going to call the man out. So it ain't gonna happen. I think that Republicans are going to call Donald Trump out for his actions. As long
as he's been doing this, the actions, we can't be surprised anymore. So we really do have to continue to use our voices, go to the ballot box, rally, protest,
galvanize and do what we know what works actually in democracy.
And hopefully that those that are holding the seat of the Republican title that they
are understanding that this is not how government works, and then we're actually willing to
make a change.
Okay, I get us talking about, we need to vote.
I totally understand that. But there's no voting right now.
There's no voting right now.
And so the only thing that's going to get these people's
attention if you have mass action, that's the only thing. Ben, we can, again, the midterms
is not until November of 2026. It's June. It's June. Americans need to be mobilizing,
organizing and mobilizing millions of numbers
to say to this dictator,
hell no.
And we need to do it with urgency and efficiency.
One thing I do realize,
and a lot of people, black people are concerned about this.
And I think that there is genuine concern here.
The moment we get involved,
we will see this escalate even further.
But I'm of the empirical opinion that that's what they want.
That's the inevitability.
And we cannot isolate ourselves in this community.
Not only do Americans need to rally, That's the inevitability. And we cannot isolate ourselves in these movements.
Not only do Americans need to rally,
Black folks need to rally.
We need to rally with wisdom.
We need to rally with the foresight of any agenda of matter.
We need to not wait.
We can't, you're absolutely right.
We simply cannot afford to wait until 2026
because it would be too late.
And so with every protest that needs to be organized before voting, every protest that
needs organizing to get the word out in very structured language, we cannot leave this
up to MAGA.
We cannot leave this up to other people.
We have to get involved.
How we get involved, that's our prerogative.
How we organize, that's our prerogative. How we organize, that's our prerogative.
We absolutely cannot sit back with the expectation that this is going to pay out anyway in favor
if we're not in there actively pushing towards a positive resolution.
And the only way we can activate that right now is with our voices and with our bodies
and standing.
Julianne, when I look at this and when I think about this here,
and when I think about in terms of how should we respond,
how should people be operating, I literally do think about the fact that black
people when protesting in the black freedom movement understood that literally their lives
are being put on the line. And this is where, and I'm going gonna go back to all the folks
who are out there post George Floyd's death.
Where you at?
Where'd y'all go?
Now I know where black folks are.
I'm talking about, this is, this Latinos nationwide?
Hello?
I mean, you've got the woman who was what?
Over Latinos for Trump. She—I'll
pull it in a second. She goes, this is not what we voted for. Yes, it is. This is exactly
what you voted for. And we told you this was going to happen. So to act like this was not
going to happen is insane.
Well, that would be called Donald Trump. Insane.
The fact is that if Republicans would grow a pair—forgive the gender analogy—but
if they would stand up and talk about impeachment—I mean, he talked about Biden's acuity always.
Now, we all know that there were some challenges with Brother Biden, but this one
here has lost his whole bloody mind. He has lost his whole bloody mind. And there are
Republicans, well-meaning Republicans, who refuse to call him on it.
This is, again, living in a police state, where you say that you can call the National
Guard, the governor doesn't want them, the mayor doesn't want them, but you say that you can call the National Guard, the governor doesn't want
them, the mayor doesn't want them, but you want them.
And this is part of his war on blue states and blue cities, part of his war on sanctuary
cities. And people are sitting there like, oh, yeah, OK, it's all good, but it's not
all good.
And I don't understand. I mean, I don't understand why there are not more people standing up and saying, oh, hell
no.
I mean, literally.
And that's what Maxine Waters is doing.
That's what others are doing.
He has a temerity to say he's going to arrest the governor of California, one-eighth of
the nation's population. You, you gonna arrest the governor?
I don't think so.
But that's where we are.
It is where we are.
But Teresa, again, this is a moment
that is going to require something of Americans.
And not just sitting and commenting on Twitter,
commenting on Instagram, commenting on TikTok.
This is where you're going to have to see
a mass resistance against these thugs.
This is where you're gonna have to have people
in Republican districts say, no, this ain't
democracy. This is not what it is. And when you got this thug throwing him this hundred
million dollar birthday party to show military might, this is where veterans, conservative
veterans, Republican voting veterans should be standing up saying
this is not how you deploy US Marines not against American citizens.
Teresa, you must be on mute.
Can you hear me?
Yes, now we can hear you.
So to address, you know, the atonement of
to be an right now you know Republicans all have that feel like they are but they are doing a track now feeling like, you know,
over to their ability.
So, they're a voice of reason,
voice that can kind of turn
our 100 plus days
turn our 100 plus days and not to, you know, also think of the, the, uh, continue of, of an Eli conversation where-
Hold tight one second.
Hold tight one second.
Teresa, we're literally, Teresa hold tight one second. We're literally treated. I'll tell you a whole tight one second.
We're literally catching every other word that you are using.
So we're going to go to a break.
I'm going to come back with our panel because I want to hear what you have to say.
So let's go.
We're going to get the audio fix.
We will be right back right here.

You've got it, faith, family, and fatherhood.
What does it mean to be a single parent father
spending time with your kid,
whether it's a son or a daughter, whether you ask for it,
plan for it, or by tragedy or accident,
you step into the role.
I didn't take it as a woe is me moment,
or I was like, what am I gonna do?
It's like, matter of fact, I looked at it,
I rolled up my sleeves and I said,
hey, whatever it takes.
That's all this week on A Balanced Life

On the next Get Wealthy with me, Deborah Owens, have you ever had a million dollar idea and wondered how to bring it to life?
Well, it's all about turning problems into opportunities.
On our next Get Wealthy, you'll learn of a woman who identified the overload bag
syndrome, and now she's taking that money to the bank
through global sales in major department stores.
And I was just struggling with two or three
bags on the train.
And I looked around on the train,
and I said, you know what?
There are a lot of women that are carrying two or three bags.
That's right here on Get Wealthy,
only on Black Star Network.
What's up, y'all?
Look, fan base is more than a platform.
It's a movement to empower creators,

We begin tonight with the people who are really running the country right now.
Now, Trump is often wrong and misleading about a lot of things, but especially about history.
Donald Trump falling in line with President Elon Musk.
In the wake of the unsettling news that MSNBC has canceled Joy Ann Reath's primetime

Hey, this is Motown recording artist Kim.
You are watching Roland Martin unfiltered.
Boy, he always unfiltered though. I never know him to be filtered.
Is there another way to experience Roland Martin than to be unfiltered?
Of course he's unfiltered. Would you expect anything less?
Watch what happens next. All right folks, we're going to come back to the story here, but I first want to go
to Candace Kelley, legal analyst who will give us our daily update on what's happening
in the Sean Diddy Collins federal trial.
As we heard in opening arguments, what we heard was that we would hear from victim number
two, and we heard that we would hear a lot of domestic violence.
Now, she's been on the stand for a couple of days.
She goes by the pseudonym of Jane. But what we heard today is finally this idea that there was
violence involved. And I think finally is because this is what was promised in opening arguments.
You always have to prosecute and want to make sure that what you say in your opening arguments
comes true. Now, she testified that she had a fight with Sean Combs
about being with another woman,
and that in that time, she pushed his head to the counter
and threw candles at him.
She said that there were no bruises,
but certainly this escalated on Sean Combs' side,
who put her in a tool fold and said that,
and then said that she physically was
tricked by Sean Combs after this night.
She said that Sean Combs told
her to put on makeup, just go with the flow, and ecstasy pill, because there was going to be another
performer, another entertainer, as they say, meaning a few fall for what she refers to as a
hotel night, said that this person was going to come over. And that at this point, she says he
got into a phase and said, is this coercion, is this coercion?
It's very interesting because coercion is such a lethal term.
But she's testified that she eventually did have sex with someone else while
Sean performs at the wash.
She also said that after this, his assistant brought about $10 to $12,000 cash to pay
this entertainer and the damages that took place four doors in her home during
that particular altercation. Now here's what we know. This is a witness that is a corroborating
witness. This comes to light when she tells first story that Sean Holmes said that he
threatened to show her sex tape back in 23 of December,
Bretton to show sex tape to the father of her baby.
Now it was at this time that she moved out to KK,
we know her as Christina Perron,
said that she woke her state,
she woke her shoulder, now all of this,
and said that she was just heavily drugged during the states and she did not want the recordings to get out.
She also wrote that she needed time away from homes because she was trying to work through all of the trauma.
Now this is important. It's possible.
You're saying that time and time again, she said she didn't want to be part of the spree calls, but that he continued to coerce her to do so. She also mentioned that on the day of the arrest,
that she was with him right up until that day
in the afternoon raids.
Holmes actually hired a lawyer for her.
That is the lawyer that right now he is still paying for.
And I'm sure as you've already heard,
as many people have heard,
he's also still paying $10,000 for rent right now
as we speak, as she can see on the stand today,
right now every single month for that rent.
So it's just an interesting dynamic to see what all of that means, especially when someone
is testifying against you and you're paying all of these services for that person.
She said Cassie's lawsuit, when Cassie's lawsuit dropped, she said that it felt like it was
a trigger, felt like it was a trigger, felt
like it was just exactly what she was experiencing and that she actually fainted when she heard
it. Now, she also pointed out that when he... Candace, hold tight. Candace, hold on one
second. We're having folks, I need y'all to fix the audio. Candace is commenting in way over modulated.
I've been sending y'all notes.
And so we're gonna go to a break.
It's very, folks should comment.
It's very difficult to understand.
I want them to fully understand what you're saying.
So let's go to a break folks, please.
Let's get this fixed.
We'll be right back.

All right folks, so we're having some issues in terms of with our panelists in their audio.
I just wanted to stop it so we can get that and we're trying to figure out if it's internet
connection what's going on.
But early today, Democratic House Leader Hocking Jeffries held a news conference where he talked
about the craziness happening at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And he was very clear, he was very clear
in terms of where he stood with what Donald Trump is doing.
So here is Democratic leader, Hakeem Jeffries.
Good afternoon, everyone.
Good afternoon.
The American people have a constitutional right to peacefully assemble, to express themselves,
and to petition the government to redress any grievances that they may have with policies
that will impact their lives.
That's a constitutional right that is contained in the First Amendment.
We encourage everyone who is exercising that right to do so peacefully in Los Angeles County and beyond.
Angeles County and beyond. But the right to peacefully assemble to express themselves to the government in order to bring about change in this country is a fundamental American principle and we will continue to stand behind it.
I'm thankful for the leadership of Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass in terms of managing
a fragile situation that Donald Trump and the extreme MAGA Republicans are intentionally
trying to inflame.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
And these people have zero credibility, zero credibility on the other side of the aisle
when it comes to issues of law and order.
Questions?
Q So, Major, good afternoon.
Thank you.
Do you think that some of the images we're seeing from Los Angeles put Democrats who
are in swing districts in a tough spot when they might be asked to defend some of these
things, when immigration and fighting back against ICE is not a front and center issue in those districts?
No one is actually defending any unlawful behavior.
I am defending the right for the American people to peacefully assemble.
And we'll continue to encourage people to exercise that right peacefully.
And if anyone crosses the line, they should be held accountable by the relevant authorities.
We will not be lectured by Donald Trump and anyone in the Republican Party about issues of law and order.
Not a single one of them. Donald Trump promised
to lower costs on day one. Costs haven't gone down, they're going up. Inflation is going
up. Donald Trump lied to the American people. You know what he did do on day one? He pardoned hundreds of violent
felons criminals
who brutally
Assaulted police officers and attacked the Capitol on January 6. That's what Donald Trump did on day one
The hostages weren't released on day one like he promised he lied
The warden in in Ukraine on day one, like he promised, he lied. The war didn't end. In Ukraine on day one, Donald
Trump lied. Kostin go down in America on day one of Donald Trump's presidency. He lied
to you, the American people. You know what he did on day one? He pardoned hundreds of
violent felons who brutally beat police officers. That's the insurrection.
And so the notion that Donald Trump and his minions, his sycophants here in the House of
Representatives or in the Senate who are nothing more than a reckless rubber stamp for Donald Trump's
extreme agenda are going to lecture America about issues of law and order, get lost.
We're not failing you at all. You have zero credibility on this issue.
What would you make of President Trump's comments saying that it would be a great thing to see Governor Gavin Newsom arrested?
Donald Trump is clearly trying to distract from the fact that he has a failed administration.
A failed administration.
He promised to lower costs.
He promised to deal with inflation in America.
Costs aren't going down.
Life has become more expensive.
The business environment is shaky.
Small businesses are being forced to close.
Our credit rating has been reduced.
The bond market is reacting adversely to Donald Trump's erratic policies.
The Trump tariffs are gonna result in thousands of dollars
of additional expenses per year on everyday Americans.
Donald Trump and the Republicans are crashing the economy
in real time and then driving us toward a recession.
His presidency has been a failure.
And now they're trying to jam this big, ugly bill, this disgusting abomination down the
throat to the American people, a bill that's deeply unpopular with the American people
and we're just getting started.
And then he's in a big fight with Elon Musk, the most personal of disputes possible?
Is it any surprise to anyone that he's trying
to distract the country with this erratic
and extreme behavior?
No, and we're not gonna fall for it.
Thank you, Mr. Leader.
On Friday, a district court judge in California granted approval for billions of dollars in
retroactive pay to athletes and paved the way for athletes going forward to get paid
for their name, image, and likeness.
This comes ahead of a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing this week on this issue.
As a sports fan and a top House Democrat, what's your reaction to that ruling and what role does Congress play going forward in helping shape the landscape now that
this ruling has been granted? We look forward to our continued conversations with the NCAA and the
relevant college athletic authorities in order to make sure that in view of this court decision, that there's
a framework that exists nationally to make sure that there's a level playing field
and that athletes and their families are in a position to benefit and not be exploited
by outside forces that may seek to take advantage of them.
And then at the same time, we can maintain a competitive landscape across all sports,
not simply men's basketball and men's football.
Thanks.
I understand the Hispanic caucus is seeking an investigation into the handling of the protests in Los Angeles.
What do you see as avenues for oversight and investigation into that matter?
Well, we'll continue to press Republicans here in the House to undertake their constitutional
responsibility to serve as a check and balance on an out-of-control executive branch.
It only takes a handful of Republicans to actually
show some spine, some backbone, and some courage at what is happening in America, a clear assault
on the American way of life, on the rule of law, and on our democracy. And the American
people aren't feeling it. That's why this guy in the Oval Office is the most unpopular president in the first
100 days in American history.
Claims to have some big mandate.
And each and every day that passes, he becomes more unpopular as the behavior and the corruption
and the cruelty and the chaos becomes more erratic. So we're going to continue to use every lever available to us
as members of Congress, partnering with our colleagues
in state and local governments across the country
to shine an intense spotlight on the egregious overreach
that is taking place by the Trump administration on a daily basis
as it relates to targeting law-abiding immigrant communities, as well as dreamers and farm workers
and people who are actually contributing to the communities that they live in on a day-to-day basis.
That's why you're seeing the American people express their discontent with another lie
that came from the Trump administration.
Trump administration said that they were going to focus on targeting violent felons who should not be in this country.
And that's something that we could have agreed with had that been the effort that was undertaken
instead.
Donald Trump and his administration are deporting American citizens, children with cancer, to countries that they've never lived in
before. That's an assault on the American way of life. It's why this administration is collapsing
in terms of popularity and public approval in real time.
And this reckless bill, this out of control budget,
this GOP tax scam, the one big ugly bill,
the disgusting abomination,
that they're trying to jam down the throats
of the American people,
it's not gonna make things better for everyday Americans.
It's gonna hurt everyday Americans. It's going to hurt everyday Americans.
And American people are rejecting it because it's designed to help extreme, mega-Republican,
billionaire donors.
And that's unacceptable.
That's unconscionable.
And that's un-American.
Second row. Thank you. So the Department of Homeland Security released some information about some of the individuals
that were apprehended during ICE's raid in LA over the weekend, and some of those
people were previously convicted of murder and sexual battery and cruelty to children,
amongst many other crimes.
You say that if they wanted to go after violent people, that's something you could agree
on.
So do you support ICE detaining illegal immigrants that have criminal histories and backgrounds?
The Department of Homeland Security, under the leadership of the so-called Secretary
Kristi Noem, is a complete and total embarrassment.
And so anything that they put out should be scrutinized through that lens.
Nonetheless, is that something that you would agree with?
I've made my statement on this issue, and we've been very clear that the deportation
efforts of any administration should be focused on making communities safe
and deporting violent criminals who are undocumented.
Thanks.
So Elon Musk has gone on his social media network and appears to be endorsing the Trump
administration's response, also deleting many of the posts from over the weekend, including the claim that Trump is named in
the Epstein files.
Do you think that we could be looking at greater influence again from Musk over the Trump administration,
something that would warrant congressional scrutiny?
Yeah, it's not clear to me.
At the end of the day, our view of the whole the whole sorted affair between Trump and Musk is that we're
going to keep the focus on the disgusting abomination that is the GOP tax scam, the largest cut to health
care in American history. Republicans are targeting the health care of the American people. More than
15 million Americans will lose their health care as a result of the GOP tax scam.
Hospitals will close. Nursing homes will shut down. Tens of millions of Americans will pay increased premiums, co-pays and deductibles.
And people will die.
That's a result of the one big ugly bill. That's disgusting that this is the Republican agenda.
At the same period of time, they want to enact the largest cut to supplemental nutritional
assistance in American history.
Literally these extremists are trying to rip food out of the mouths of children, veterans,
and seniors in the United
States of America.
That's a disgusting abomination.
And they're doing all of this to reward their billionaire donors?
We never said at any point that we were going to let our foot off the gas pedal as it relates
to the so-called Doge effort to destroy the American way of life,
to target thousands of veterans who have been fired,
to take a chainsaw to Social Security.
We disagree with all of that.
Our goal is to take a chainsaw to Project 2025.
And we're not going to rest until that gets done, no matter who is standing on the side
of the Trump administration.
Thanks.
Two resolutions condemning the Boulder attack are coming to the fore this week.
One of them from Congressman Gabe Evans includes language labeling free Palestine an anti-Semitic
slogan and also praising ICE for quote-unquote protecting
the homeland.
I know that some of your progressive members are very unhappy with some of that language.
I'm wondering, A, how you plan to vote on that personally, and B, how you're advising
members to vote on it.
It's not simply a subset of members of the House Democratic Caucus who oppose the so-called Evans Resolution.
Who is this guy? He's not seriously concerned with combating anti-Semitism in America. This
is not a serious effort. This guy's going to be a one-term member of Congress. He's
a complete and total embarrassment. He's not even pretending to be moderate at this point. He's all in
on ripping away health care from the American people. And this is a desperate attempt to
distract. Why do we know that's the case? Because every major Jewish organization, including including AJC, has come out in opposition to the so-called Evans
Resolution. Every major Jewish organization, as far as I can tell, these
are organizations that are at the forefront of combating anti-Semitism in
America. That resolution is an embarrassment.
It's not serious.
It's a joke.
And Gabe Evans is a joke.
And he's on his way out.
He's done in November of 2026.
So is leadership whipping against that resolution?
I don't know.
We don't know.
We don't normally whip one way or the other as it relates to resolutions.
And so it's not my understanding that a decision has been made different than the approach
that we normally take.
I'm a no.
And everyone will have the ability to make their decision in terms of what's in the
best interest of the districts that they represent, anti-Semitism
is a scourge on America. It shouldn't be weaponized politically. It's not a Democratic
issue or an American issue or a Republican issue. It's an American issue. And we should
tackle it not as Democrats or Republicans, but as Americans.
So I'm going to stand on the side of the overwhelming majority of Jewish organizations
who have the credibility on this issue and have concluded this is is a serious problem, anti-Semitism, in the United States of America.
Thank you, Leader.
When we talk about the images that are happening in Los Angeles right now,
what is your argument to the American people that the National Guard is not needed in this situation? There are thousands of members of the LAPD and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department
and the California Highway Patrol who have the capacity by all accounts, according to Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass, to make sure that the lawlessness
and disorder that the Trump administration is clearly trying to
bring about by fanning flames and inciting things on the ground in California that the state and local officials
and these brave, courageous members of law enforcement, thousands of them who are part
of the LAPD, the L.A LA Sheriff's Department, other local law enforcement, and
the California Highway Patrol seem to have the capacity to make sure that the situation
is addressed, that peaceful protests are allowed to occur, and that lawbreakers are held accountable.
The Trump administration has zero credibility on this issue.
Really?
I was here on January 6th.
Donald Trump wasn't a leader on January 6th.
He didn't send a National Guard to stop the violent mob that was brutally
beating police officers in plain view for every single American to see.
And this guy, who likely withheld the National Guard, he certainly didn't send them forward is lecturing the country about law and order.
And if this wasn't enough of a reason to dismiss his credibility on any of these issues,
on his first day in office, Donald Trump pardons hundreds of violent felons, some of whom have gone back to their communities all across America and recommitted crimes
against everyday Americans, give me a break.
We're not feeling you, particularly as it relates to this issue. Donald Trump and all of these minions who support him, the sycophants, the
extremists have zero credibility on this issue. Republicans have become the party of lawlessness
and disorder.
Thank you, Mr. Leader. You said that you could find common ground on removing dangerous felons
from the country. What other specific provisions do you and at least some members of your caucus
feel they can find common ground with Republicans when it comes to potential for bipartisan
immigration reform?
Our view on this issue is that we have to secure the border. We have a broken immigration
system that should be fixed in a bipartisan and comprehensive
way.
At the same time, we need to defend dreamers and farmworkers and law-abiding immigrant
families.
Those are the core principles that could yield an effort to actually address the things that
the American people want to address.
As opposed to allowing the Trump administration to try to distract the American people by
unleashing masked agents.
If they were proud of what they are doing, why are they masked?
This isn't the 1930s.
Why are they masked?
And so their core principles that are pretty simple, secure the border decisively.
We supported legislation that was negotiated.
It was the toughest border security bill to emerge from Congress in modern American history,
and Donald Trump killed it.
These people have no credibility on the issues that they claim to stand for.
It's all a distraction because their agenda to try to rip health care away from the American
people, they're blowing up the
economy, totally mismanaging it. The American people know it. This is why his approval ratings
have collapsed in general and specifically on the economy. And so every chance they get,
they try to provoke the American people on this issue related to immigration.
These are people where facts don't matter, hypocrisy is not a constraint to their behavior.
They say one thing and they do the other.
And they actually believe that shamelessness is a superpower.
We're not falling for it.
Not now, not ever.
Thank you.
Right now I want to go live to Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
She of course has been on the streets in Los Angeles.
She has been holding folks accountable, demanding change.
Congresswoman, we had you on the show last week.
You talked about people needing to take to the streets.
We actually saw that in Los Angeles.
Now you have this thug in chief
who is sending in the Marines.
What's crazy is Los Angeles has one of the largest
police forces in America.
You add that with the Los Angeles
County Sheriff's Department and it's not like they can't handle these protests, but instead
you got Donald Trump who's itching for a big fight.
All right, Congresswoman, can you hear me? Congresswoman Waters, Roland Martin, can you hear me? Okay, let's try it again.
So we're going to do.
We start my questions. I'll be right back.
This week on a balanced life, we're talking about single father parenting. You've got
it. Faith, family and fatherhood. What does it mean to be a single parent father spending
time with your kid, whether it's a son
or a daughter, whether you ask for it, plan for it, or by tragedy or accident,
you step into the role? I didn't take it as a woe is me moment or like what am I going to do?
It's like, matter of fact, I looked at it, I rolled up my sleeves and I said, hey,
whatever, whatever it takes. That's all this week on A Balanced Life
with Dr. Jackie here on Black Star Network.
On the next Get Wealthy with me, Deborah Owens,
have you ever had a million dollar idea
and wondered how to bring it to life?
Well, it's all about turning problems into opportunities.
On our next Get Wealthy, you'll learn of a woman
who identified the overload bag syndrome,
and now she's taking that money to the bank
through global sales in major department stores.
And I was just struggling with two or three bags
on the train, and I looked around on the train and I said, you know what?
There are a lot of women that are carrying two, two or three bags.
That's right here on Get Wealthy, only on Black Star Network.
This week on the other side of change.
We are here talking about the unfortunate case
of 30 year old Adriana Smith,
who was diagnosed and pronounced as brain dead
at nine weeks pregnant and is being kept alive
by the state to carry his pregnancy out to the term
without any input from her family.
It's a really harrowing example of the lack of
bodily autonomy we have in a post-war world.
And we're gonna dream bigger.
Join us on the other side of change,
only on the Black Star Network.
Next on The Black Table with me, Greg Carr.
An hour of living history with Dr. Richard Mariba Kelsey,
thinker, builder, author,
and one of the most important and impactful elders
in the African American community. He reflects on his full and rich life and shares his incomparable
wisdom about our past, present, and future.
The African genius is saying that my uncle was a genius, my brother was a genius, my
neighbor was a genius. I think we ought to drill that in ourselves and move ahead rather
than believing that
I got it.
That's next on the Black Table, here on the Black Star Network.
This is Tamela Maine.
And this is David Mann.
And you're watching Roland Martin.
I'm Phil Tuch.
All right, so I think we've sorted our audio issues.
Congresswoman Maxine Waters, can you hear me?
Yes, I can hear you now.
Yes.
There we go.
All right, then.
One of the things that I said is that, first of all, we had you on the show last week and
you talked about the need for folks to take to the streets.
And we see that happening in Los Angeles.
But what's crazy to me is that the city of Los Angeles
has one of the largest police departments in the country.
You have a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
It's not like law enforcement there can't deal with this.
And the LAPD has come out and said,
for the most part, you've had peaceful protest.
But what we're seeing is that it's federal agents,
supposedly agents, ICE agents,
we don't know because they're not showing IDs
and are hiding their faces,
who are instigating the violence.
And so it has to be maddening to see these out of control,
so-called federal agents causing the mayhem in Los Angeles?
OK, Roland, there's still some feedback, but I think I get the essence of your question.
Let me try and answer your question. First of all, they certainly fell along with ICE being in many of our neighborhoods, and
they arrested one of our river leaders, David Murtaugh.
And evidently, he was cognizant of a number of-United American-born lady.
So I went and learned about it to see where he was.
I went to the detention center.
There was a peaceful, small protest when I got there.
After I was there for, you know, I had my head, I saw some men come from the opposite direction to go into the detention center,
because it was a lockdown, and the women's safety survey didn't have enough to talk to about women who were holding or they were working. to hold them. I gave it work. So I followed them and I asked them if I would come in.
I was a member of Congress and showed them my jacket with the congressional sign on it.
They said no and slammed the door. The protests were very people, very people. American people are, but the national government
with all of the heavy weapons.
So basically wanted to have the protestors
who were on the sidewalk.
And so we waited around for a while
but to see if we could go to try and find somebody
we could convince to tell us about what we were told.
As members of Congress, we have the legal authority to go to the detention center unannounced
and to question what is going on. But I would deny that. But here's what we gotta know.
denied that. But here's what we got to know. There were in several of our neighborhoods. There were in Compton. There were in black and brown neighborhoods. And ICE was being
aggressive in trying to identify people who were maybe undocumented. And they were in
undocumented, and they were in several of these communities
all at one time. I know that they were in Glenwood,
they were in Compton, they were in Inverloy,
and so they were really creating a problem.
Thompson and the National Guard,
that was for me, they had the National Guard there,
which, but he has been provocative, The National Guard, that was for me. They have the National Guard there, with us.
But he has been provocative.
He has provoked all of our young people,
of Black and Brown, into a confrontation.
He wants to have a march to vote.
He is trying to live up to the promise
that he made to the microphone that you is going
to deport millions of back to their country.
And he has not been able to do that.
And so now they're being very aggressive.
And today he's even going to the National Guard.
The Marines are there in Phil's sitting in one of our neighboring communities.
So he's being provocative.
I believe, as someone said to me,
there even may be agent provocateurs
that are being provided to try to make sure
that there is protest, that they can claim for violence.
And so this president is responsible
for what is going on in Los Angeles.
We're a sanctuary city.
He doesn't like us.
He has threatened us before.
And so I think what he's doing is provoking protestants
so that he could issue a Martian law.
That's what he's doing. He's despised. He's cruel. that he could issue a motion of law.
That's what he's doing.
He's despised, he's cruel, he doesn't give a damn
about the experience and his confidence.
It is absolutely shameful that the president
of the United States government could be creating
this kind of confrontation when it certainly
was not necessary.
Well, it is certainly a significant drama there.
We're gonna continue to watch this play out.
And what's so unfortunate, we are seeing these parents
who are scared to death because of these actions.
These people are literally, they literally raided an elementary school graduation that
caused parents to begin to flee, stranding kids. Kids were in shock and in terror. And
again, this is exactly what Donald Trump wanted to create. He wants this mayhem.
And Republicans, they are satisfied with this.
This is what they voted for.
And the bottom line is the people are going to have to rise up against these fascists
in order to get them to stop the most ridiculous things that we have seen.
And let's keep in mind how many, you know, several million were deported under President
Obama.
About 4.4 million were deported under President Biden.
But you never, ever saw this type of mass hysteria as a result of the actions that they
had. But this is what Donald Trump wants.
This is exactly what he wants.
This president is the worst president of all time.
You know, we dealt with conservative people who disagreed with us and we disagree with
them, but we've never seen anything like this criminal president of the United
States who is provoking outbreaks, who's trying to provoke violence, who is intent on using
his extraordinary powers to create martial law and further exacerbate the problem in
doing that.
All right. Consulman Maxine Waters, we certainly appreciate it. Thanks a lot. further exacerbate the problem in doing that.
All right, Consul and Maxine Waters,
Michelle, I appreciate it, thanks a lot.
Thank you, thank you very much, Roland.
All right, folks, we've been having,
I'll just be straight, audio issues all day,
but the audio issues are being compounded
by internet issues in our control room.
I've literally been communicating with the folks who have been working on our software
there.
So here's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to end the show right now.
A bottom line is horrible audio is horrible audio.
It makes it very difficult for people to actually listen to the show.
It was hard to hear Candace, Kelly, even our panelists
as they were talking.
So what we're gonna do is take the show down,
end it right now.
We're working with our IT team.
We wanna have a quality show every single day.
Again, we don't know what the problem is.
There's a new system.
Just keep in mind, for the longest we've been using Skype,
Microsoft got rid of Skype and folded into Microsoft Teams.
And so we then had a special computer
that was built for us to utilize VMIX
or a program called Live On Air.
And so clearly there are some problems with that.
So I need this fixed.
And so I'm not gonna continue to go on giving you guys
a bad show with bad audio where you can't really understand
what people are saying.
And so that's what we're gonna do.
And so listen, we're gonna close it out.
We're gonna see you guys tomorrow right here
in Roland Martin Unfiltered.
Again, I'm communicating with the IT people right now.
They're gonna be coming in tomorrow with our team
to go over and get this fixed
because I do not want this crap to happen again.
