Starting point is 00:00:00 Okay, so this is actually really cool. I just tried the true age and true health test from true diagnostic, and I'm fully obsessed. You do this quick little finger prick at home, no labs, no appointments, and it gives you this insane amount of insight into your health and how you're aging, like over 180 personalized markers. True health looked at things like my inflammation levels, nutrient balance, gut health, even heavy metals, which honestly I didn't even know I should be checking for. True age shows you how your brain, heart, liver, and your immune system were aging, not just a number, but a full breakdown. The report was super detailed, but totally digestible. For me, the biggest takeaway was realizing that I needed to sleep more and to support my immune system, and now I actually know how. It's kind of wild that this isn't just part of regular health care already. It's empowering. It's based on real science, and it honestly made me feel like I have more control over how I age. If you're serious about living healthier and longer, visit true diagnostic.com and use my code Kristen for 20% off your entire order or subscription. That's truediagnostic.com code Kristen for 20% off. Your future self will thank you.

Starting point is 00:02:53 Hello, my darlings. Welcome back to another episode of Balancing Act. Lukie Boogie is here with me today. And we have a V special guest. The star, dare I say, of the only Bravo show that Luke and I watch. Stephen McBee of McBee Dynasty, co-owner of McBee Farm and Cattle Company. Hi, Stephen. I've been dying for this moment.
Starting point is 00:03:15 How are you? Hey, you all. I'm doing well. for having me on, excited to talk today. We're super stoked. We just finished the finale like five seconds ago. Oh, okay. And I will say reality TV really does make you feel like you know someone because I feel
Starting point is 00:03:31 we feel like we know you and your family and we've yet to meet in real, like IRL as the kids say in real life. But, you know, we will. But I want to officially welcome you to the Bravo family. Well, thank you very much. It has been awesome joining. It's literally been like an extended family from the very big. minute we announced that we were heading over to Bravo and then getting to watch you and Brittany
Starting point is 00:03:52 do the season one playback. It's hilarious watching that. It's been so welcoming. Yeah, that was so much fun. Because I was actually first, I don't think our listeners know this, but I was first introduced to you when you were on Joe Millionaire. And so when I watched the Bravo watch party, called it out. Yeah, I was sitting there and I'm like, wait a minute. I'm like, I know who this guy is. I'm like, what the F was that show called? And then it all came back to me. And I'm like, Holy crap. This is the guy from Joe Millionaire. Like, now you're a two reality show person down, a three network reality person down.
Starting point is 00:04:28 A veteran. I feel like a seasoned vet at this point. Yeah, reality TV. So I want to get into Joe Millionaire and you and Calla. But first and foremost, if you guys are seeing this video, we are rocking some merch that was sent to us. We got a little meat and merch package. Luke, how is dinner? The steaks are fantastic.
Starting point is 00:04:48 They're very, very good. I have to try the buffalo, though, man. Every time I see them on screen, I'm like, man, I want to try a buffalo steak. Yeah, the bison steaks are amazing. We'll get you some of those sit down, too. Okay, hell yeah. You can eat buffalo. Bison, buffalo, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Bifelow. Vegetarian over here, but when that came in the mail, Luke was stoked. What man doesn't love getting a box of meat sent to them? That's, like, the greatest gift. walking out on your front portion there's just being a giant box of steaks it does not get any better it's fantastic yeah thank you again for that it's amazing i know what i'm getting you for your birthday i'm like stephen throw in some seafood babe yeah that's right oh my gosh okay so let's just go back to joe millionaire for like one hot second because that is how you and cala met which
Starting point is 00:05:37 it blows my mind that you guys stayed together as long as you did from meeting on a reality show I feel like we, you know, we definitely didn't set a record, but we're up there for, like, longest to make it post-dating show. Yeah. Like, unless you're a bachelor person who actually got married, you guys by far have beat the Bachelor, Bachelor, Bachelorette nation couples that, like, only dated. You know what I mean? Because how, you're broken up now, correct? Yeah, we've been broken up since last October. It's almost going on a year now.
Starting point is 00:06:08 But we made it, I mean, there was definitely some ups and downs, but we made it. Pretty much three years. Oh, wow. Nice. That's like as long as Luke and I have been together. Yeah, just about. Yeah, that's about right. Yeah, it's quite a while.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Were you, I'm jumping a little ahead, but were you, like, I was super surprised that she wasn't at the wedding. I was, like, waiting for her to show up. I had it in the back of my mind that she may not show up to the wedding. I thought that that, the way she was kind of giving me like a lukewarm, yes, I was like, I don't know if she's actually going to show up. here yeah that's fair but a no call no show is a final straw i'd say especially for your brother's wedding like man yeah that that was uh sort of the nail in the coffin so that was into things right then and there yeah i was like kella just send a text like just be like man you know what
Starting point is 00:06:59 we can talk about this later but this is what's up so it doesn't like it's not embedding on like your brain while you're like officiating a wedding it's your brother's wedding like it's such and you're filming a tv show there's like so much going on at once and you're you're sitting, you're like, is she going to text? Is she going to text? Like, call it, girl. It's a little embarrassing. There's a little embarrassing, for sure.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Yeah, leave it to Galena and keep the heat off of you, though. Yeah, thankfully, I thought I was going to have the biggest drama-filled moment of the wedding, and Galena came in to save the day, I guess she could say. So on the same topic, it was a funny banner there at the end that said, you have yet to go on a second date. Is that still, is that still, is that still the thing? I know, they threw me under the bus. I was watching that, too, and I was like, oh, man.
Starting point is 00:07:43 But I've been on some dates. I think I have gone on like a couple second dates. They just haven't made it much further than that. It's certainly not for lack of effort. It's just a little tough out here in the middle of nowhere. Right. Honestly, it's not a lot easier in Los Angeles. We met at a wedding in the middle of nowhere, Colorado.
Starting point is 00:08:00 Oh, really? Okay. So there's hope. How far are you from Kansas City? I'm about an hour and 10 minutes. Okay. I mean, I wouldn't date someone who lived an hour away. You dated me living 1,000 miles away.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I know you visited a lot, though. But I'm just saying like living in L.A., if I were single and someone lived like an hour and 10 minutes away, I would be like, oh, that's a little tough. It's long ways. And looking at it now, I think that's one of the reasons why I am still single is a lot of it's me because I'm like, man, it's an investment to go on a date now. If a girl's from another state, I have to fly her out here. Like I'm $1,000 in before I even know the person. It's a pretty steep investment. So I'm just like, man, I would love to be able to find someone at least halfway local
Starting point is 00:08:45 to where it doesn't feel like, you know, it's that much of an investment just to find out who someone is. Or we find you a girl who can afford to fly herself to see you sometimes too. That would be wonderful. I know you're such a gentleman, but like ladies, he's not your meal ticket. I don't know why I have such beef with that, like watching it and you and your mom and your mom being so obviously like protecting you guys and like that one scene where you're talking about like Cala's apartment and your mom's like oh okay sure I'll go sign on it and I was like Christy McBee you are a saint among saints but it's just you guys are all just so polite you're brought up so well like you're such gentlemen you take care of everything and it's like get him a lady who can also take care of herself who isn't going to be like giving you a bill for her airline ticket. That's just my beef. I wouldn't know what to think if that was the case. That would be
Starting point is 00:09:42 a very strange feeling for me. So what are you looking for in a woman? Not necessarily just physical assets. I think you covered that with Andy. But like, yeah, I don't know. What are you looking for in a woman? I know I've run a business. It was not anywhere close to what you're talking about. But I had a hemp business in Colorado and I had three different farms and I was so stressed and trying to do all that. Now, I can't imagine doing that while shooting a show with your family. You know, well, sorry, times that by 100, the size of operation you're running. And also trying to date because I couldn't just date and run that business at the same time.
Starting point is 00:10:20 Like busy season, you have to have a woman that understands your time is going to be very, very limited. Correct. Yeah. I mean, first and foremost, just understanding that I am extremely busy and I do have responsibilities and obligations that I can't just put to the wayside. So fitting in and integrating with the businesses and my family, knowing that I am very, very close to my family, I would want a woman that literally is best friends with my mom and my sisters-in-law. Like, text them on their own without me involved, wants to go out shopping, go to dinner with them. Like that would be an ideal situation.
Starting point is 00:10:55 And I just never really had that with Cala. It felt like I was trying to force my family and her to become friends. and I just want that to happen organically because my family is such an important aspect of my life. And then from, you know, a home perspective, I really don't necessarily need a woman to have like this crazy success on her own. I'm not really looking for that. I just really would love to have someone that brings me peace whenever I come home from a long day at work. There's not additional nagging or fighting that she feels like needs to happen. Really that peace factors is what I'm looking for nowadays.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Yeah. So, babe, a career woman's not going to work. He's too busy. Just be honest. Like, it's true. Probably unless someone pops up, maybe a new divorcee and Gallatin that maybe you met back in high school and, you know, it didn't work out on the first marriage and you're like rekindled flame. I don't know. Who knows? It is. It would be hard. You know, someone that is very career oriented would be really tough for me just because I have such a home base here. You know, I hate to say that I can't sacrifice. I would sacrifice. But there's just a limited extent to how much I can really get away from. here, if that makes sense. Yeah, for sure. I mean, yeah, I think sacrificing the little time that you do have is a sacrifice, like is giving to a relationship, you know? It just comes with like this, like you say it up front.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Like you're like, this is exactly who I am and this is what's going on right now. And this is where, you know, what's important to me, like what's very crucial. Right. To my successes. Yeah. And you, I want to put in this frame. Like you're kind of someone in a time capsule as far as the way society has changed. Like you would do best with a confident homemaker, a woman that wants that role in life, like that you can provide and she can do all the things, do all those things.
Starting point is 00:12:42 You need a woman that wants that. Now that I have a baby, it sounds amazing. I would love nothing more than to just not work or work home, which is kind of what I do anyway. I mean, you know, we're all lucky. We're all very fortunate to be on TV, so I'm not complaining. But I want to be Susie Homemaker. And I do think that you're exactly right, Luke. I mean, I think that number one, I'd find that extremely attractive.
Starting point is 00:13:06 But number two, the respect, the amount of sheer respect I would have for a woman that would want to take that on and truly be a caretaker of the home and, you know, do those sort of things. Like, that would be match made in heaven for me. And I do have some benefits to, you know, the businesses that I'm building if someone has, you know, if they're more of an influencer type lifestyle, I've built, you know, e-com businesses. have a fulfillment center now here on the farm. Like, I have a lot of advantages to be able to help her grow in her own ways. If she's an influencer, wanting to start her own brand products, whatever it may be, I've really tried to cater, build my life to where I can take that on if the person I'm with wants to do that.
Starting point is 00:13:46 I think we're painting the picture of who he's looking for. And it sounds like down the road, this is a question, but I think it's already been answered that you would like to be married, have kids, do the whole family thing with the right one. Yes, yeah, absolutely. And I think my brother's both having kids of their own now and really seeing our family dynamic change and our family sort of settle down into the more familiar role. That's something that I want sooner rather than later. It was, you know, five, six year plan. And now I'm like, okay, if I could get that in the next two to three, that'd be awesome.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Oh, that's so cute. That melts my heart for you. How old are you? 31, 32? Oh, I turned 31 this month, actually. Happy birthday. Oh, my gosh. You young boys.
Starting point is 00:14:28 Young strapping lads. I love it. Steve, I'm the youngest guy in this group of friends out here and I'm 34. Yeah. It's a different world
Starting point is 00:14:38 in Los Angeles completely. Puma. But yeah, she prefers Puma. I prefer Puma. I do. Same thing, right? Just different regions.
Starting point is 00:14:46 I don't feel my age. And I would like to try to not look my age. Luke said when we were watching the finale, he was like, this show, ideally could really go on forever, like looking at like Jesse and Allie getting married and them being the first ones. And then Cole and Casey having a baby, then Jesse and Allie now having a baby. And it's like, it's all kind of like, it's like a reset button sort of. Like, okay, now what's going to happen with like
Starting point is 00:15:15 their small family in addition to like your giant dynasty, if you will? So I think that that's really cool. And I really think this show should go on forever. Like I said, it's the only show on Bravo we watch. I watch the Kardashians and this to me is like the real hometown like version of that because you can't be watching a family together because there's nothing fake about it. There's nothing contrived about it. Is it hard to film with your family? I mean, you obviously love it, but is it like does it put extra pressures on you guys like when you're not filming? I think it does. Just because, you know, in the, the, age that we live in today there's so much scrutiny online so from week to week especially this
Starting point is 00:16:00 season it was like cole took a lot of heat in a certain week or casey took a lot of heat in a certain week most of times it was cold um yeah almost every almost every week it was cold but uh you know you almost like i you know i i'm getting a lot of good comments or jesse's getting a lot of good comments he's floating during that week because he i don't know he you know they everyone's making him out to be a hero and cole's just getting you know just colds punching hills yeah yeah yeah Yes. And so, you know, Cole's like mad at Jesse. He's like, man, why do they, why do they make you out to look like such a good guy? And Jesse's like, well, I'm not out here getting drunk and punching hills, you idiot. But yeah, so, I mean, there are some, you know, issues there within the family. But if anything, like we knew when we started this journey, that was going to be the case. And so those little flare-ups, they don't actually affect our relationship to any deep extent for sure. Yeah, that's good. That's really smart. I think Cole is such the hero of the season.
Starting point is 00:16:57 He cracks me up. And everyone, like, remember his age. Like, he's young. Now, granted, now he's a father. And you even see just in the very end of your finale, like, this change comes over his face. And Luke, would you say, it totally changes you as a person, like, being a dad. Of course. I mean, I don't know how if it doesn't, you're probably either a robot or a sociopath, you know, honestly.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Cole's such a hero. Like, that is just sheer honest entertainment. Like, he's just being exactly who he is. And yeah, okay, like the Nashville stuff. Like, it's not good. But the authenticity behind it is, like, I feel like what everyone should be rooting for. Cole has the best personality out of all of us. You know, he couldn't fake anything if he tried.
Starting point is 00:17:44 He's just so he wears his heart on his sleeve. And for better or worse, whatever comes with it, it just, he lights up a room. I love him too. I mean, I love watching him. Like, there is no one that can entertain like Cole can, whether it be on camera or in real life. You put him in a room of 100 people and he'll leave there with 100 friends at the end of the night. So that's, that's just how he is. I think that's like such the, maybe that's like what the beauty is about like you boys is how, at least from a viewer's perspective, like how different you guys are. Like couldn't, like you all have such your own distinct like path and personality outside of work.
Starting point is 00:18:22 that it's hysterical and so heartwarming to watch you together. We don't know a lot about Brayden, but I know because Brayden's a lot younger. He's the youngest. And was it in first season or was it in season two where he was saying like he spent more time with your mom and he wasn't really on the farm? Yeah, season one.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Yeah, and that is complete facts. Like he grew up, whenever my parents got divorced, my mom stayed down in the city. Braden lived down there with her. So he grew up in a very different setting and lifestyle. whereas us boys were out on the farm every day working, on aging fishing. Braden was in the city growing up with his friends,
Starting point is 00:18:59 playing video games. So he's just very, very different than us. Love him to death and we still get along great with him, especially now as he's gotten older and really gotten into his own personality. But yeah, he's just been a little different
Starting point is 00:19:11 as far as coming up to the farm. Yeah. And if he was still in high school, it's just like such a, like he's not working with you guys. Like, I get it being feeling that young. No, absolutely. wait really quick like talk about better than a ufc saturday night masha versus galena oh my
Starting point is 00:19:29 what those would go at it i mean absolutely go at it i have so to this day to this day they still would like if they saw each other it's on site no matter where are your dad and masha still dating yes in fact they're flying back from oregon they just went hiking together this weekend i love gleena so much my dad tries to act like he's not still with masha so he won't tell any of us that he's with anyone. He said he was going hiking with some friends, and we inherently know Masha's going with him. But he just, like, if you see, if you go to his social media right now, you'll see all these hiking videos and like the camera will pan and then it'll stop and he'll go back the other way because Masha was right there and he's like trying to hide it.
Starting point is 00:20:07 Because what if the ladies see it? He wants to appear single. That's how I would take it anyway. He's a little playboy. Well, he definitely has a type. Russian and blonde. Yeah, and we laugh about it. We're in Kansas City, Missouri. like the Russian population. I know two Russians in my life, and my dad's dated both of them. And they just happened to land there? Like, where you find them?
Starting point is 00:20:31 You're in Cape City, Missouri. I had no idea. That's wild. That's funny. He must know the bar where the Russians hang out, I guess. That's pretty funny. Dude, so St. Joe Car Wash, that big, your big opening. Is that over by St. Louis?
Starting point is 00:20:44 That's actually on the Kansas City side, about 45 minutes due north of Kansas City. Okay. So I know St. Joe and St. Louis. I've driven through Kansas and Missouri so many times. So anyway, that was the one question. The other question is, does Masha, did Masha actually have anything to do with that? Her saying she was doing marketing or whatever, as your dad, like kind of put her into some degree of a work role with anything, or is that totally made up? For like two weeks, my dad had her passing out flyers for McBea's coffee and car wash in the area.
Starting point is 00:21:13 It was a, like, I mean, when I talk about a very limited role, it was a two-week period where she maybe went out for an hour a day and handed out flyers to different businesses. And that was the extent of her car wash career. She's like, she's like the McBee Farm Street team. And she's like, I'm head of marketing. So everyone calm the fuck down. You have a business card marketing manager, the McB Cowell. Could not get her to show up. We have no idea. Like it was, she was a nightmare for the two weeks that she was here. I would have rather had a high school student doing that. That is fucking wild. And Galena still works for the company. And you guys are close with her.
Starting point is 00:21:50 I love this. Yes, we are close with Galina. And that's, you know, obviously season two was very, very rough on her. She had, I call it a generational crash out during season two. But she was dealing with a lot. She still does deal with a lot. And it's in behind the scenes. And whenever she is in the right state of mind, she is such an awesome person.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Yeah, I need her to be on season three. Hello, Bravo. We need season three. We need it. We need it. We need it. We're starting to campaign. And I'll tell you the one thing that I wanted more than anything, the only thing I
Starting point is 00:22:21 felt was missing from season one was your mom when brittney and i finished watching season one on we did the brava watch party it's all we could talk about we were like where is like head mama matriarch that raised these four boys i cannot imagine to save my life i always said that i wanted two boys i ended up with a girl i think it was exactly what i needed and then i just think about little luke like he's one of four but it's two girls two boys and I'm like if I had four of him running around as a little kid oh my god that was definitely the problem child but just like four wild boys like growing up on a farm in Missouri like and she's we can only imagine like we all played sports so it wasn't only us four boys over it was the entire football team or baseball team I mean our house
Starting point is 00:23:09 was like the house to hang out at with 15 boys my age so and your mom is just like the cutest tiniest, sweetest voice, like little angel. She's so calm. Like whenever you're freaking out or like Cole's freaking out in the show,
Starting point is 00:23:25 she's like handles it with just such maternal care. She has decades of chaos. I know. But like, you know, train her mind. Like,
Starting point is 00:23:34 nothing's going to trigger. You're like, come on. She spent 28 years of my dad. Anything we do is going to pale in comparison to that chaos.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Yeah, bingo to that. Was she asked to be on season one? Um, yes, absolutely. Yeah, we were all trying to, you know, push her a little bit towards being on season one. Just wanted to, obviously, we have such a close relationship with her. And we just wanted people to know who she is and how close we are. You know, you see us with our dad. And we have a sort of lifestyle that we live with my dad. And it's a very wild lifestyle. And that's just how my dad lives, very chaotic. And then my mom is the one that's always kept us grounded. So I feel like she's the one that brought us back to center. Um, and really put some great morals and great. values and character traits in all of us boys and certainly kept us on the straight and narrow. I'm so glad she decided to do season two. Who convinced her? Was it you? It was me. I had to do a lot of work there. Actually, I say that. It really wasn't me because I don't think anything I was saying
Starting point is 00:24:33 was working. She is such a private, introverted person. But I found this screen, or I found this comment of someone saying or asking if Galena was our mom. And so I was like, a screenshot at it. And I sent it to my mom. And I was like, see, they don't even know who you are. are. Oh, wow. Okay. And that one got her pretty fired up. Listen, good job. Yeah. Great job. It's kind of put up, but like, great job. I'm very proud of you for that. Because we really needed her. And her interview whites are amazing. Her posture is... That's what I've said multiple times. Like, her posture is immaculate. Like, I, yeah. I know it's a really random thing to say, but I'm just like, she has like the strongest arm. She's like Michelle Obama arms on like a hundred power. frame. Like, she could beat some ass. So we, we love your mom. Tell her we're obsessed with her. And, you know, to, like, again, I have sympathy for Gleena. I think Gleana's fantastic on the show.
Starting point is 00:25:30 But, like, I choose your mom any day of the week. Like, if I, you know, gunned ahead. And to have that sit down with Gleena on camera, I was blown away, like, at her composure and her willingness to even do it was just insane to me. So just tell her we love it. Yeah, yeah, it's impressive. I mean, she said that was purely out of the love for us boys and knowing how important Galena is to the companies and knowing the uphill battle we, we faced and still currently faced and how Galena is a major part in us getting out of that.
Starting point is 00:26:03 And so she put aside whatever personal feelings she had and, you know, whatever pent-up anger she had and said, I'm doing this for my boys. And did your mom also, did your mom know your dad wasn't really going to film? on season two very much? Because I was surprised that he even was on it all. I thought he was kind of like off for the season and you were, all the drums was on you. You had to like carry this show on your back.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Yeah. Yeah. I'd still feel in the way to that. No. So we thought, we thought it was going to be like half season. Like my dad was going to come on halfway through. And then the,
Starting point is 00:26:36 you know, the whole investigation and it just decided it was better just to keep him as much as possible away from the cameras. Yeah. As a viewer, that was a good idea because I feel like it could have turned your whole season into that and there's just which it's like yes that is the reality of what's going on and you guys obviously touched on it because of that but there's just so it's so multifaceted and there's so
Starting point is 00:27:01 many other stories to tell so I don't know as a viewer it was to be honest even though it's very like shocking it was probably one of the things I was least interested in in watching the show like I was more like show me their relationship I was happy. I mean, as much as I'd, if I had to choose between my drama and my relationship or talking about the investigation, I'd much rather choose the relationship drama. You know, we deal with that black cloud of the investigation and we have dealt with it for two years. So like you said, I'm, I'm happy that it was hardly touched on throughout the season and not like the main central focus. So was, uh, or were Cole and Jesse, they didn't have much of a reaction on the
Starting point is 00:27:41 show. Were they actually, was there any kind of like anger or like, you know, disappointment? You kept that from them since you did for so long? No, not really because they understood why. I've always done that, you know, financial issues or any big stresses or challenges we're facing. I've always tried to keep that from them. You know, I think that being the oldest of the four boys, to no fault of my dad and to no blame, you know, he would tell me things that candidly I probably didn't need to know as the oldest boys and issues that were going on that I shouldn't have had to carry that weight as a teenager or in my early 20s. And so I always felt that and said, I'd never want to do that to my brothers, my own children. Like, I will never do that. And so I make it a point
Starting point is 00:28:26 to try and keep some of the more heavy challenges out of their, you know, minds or have them having to think about it. Yeah. Yeah. You just take them to Nashville instead. That's right. That's right. I'm here for the stress three moments. Yes, Nashville, Luke wants us to move to Nashville so badly. Yeah, well, L.A. doesn't work. But then I'm like, is that what you're going to do on the weekends? No. Are you going to be like...
Starting point is 00:28:53 There's actually like some really wholesome stuff to do in Nashville. Oh, really? I swear. I haven't done it. But I've heard. I've heard there is. You're like supposedly... Look, Stephen will relate with this.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Where we are, the opportunities to hunt and fish are... There's too many barriers in between. I'm not saying you can't do it, but there's a lot of barriers. Whereas where Stephen lives, where I've lived everywhere else prior to here, there hasn't really been a barrier. Like, I throw my stuff in the truck and I go do it. That's it. All Luke talks about is hunting.
Starting point is 00:29:24 But Nashville, like, come on, there's lakes. There's lakes. There's beautiful hiking trails. There is like, hunting opportunity, all kinds. Best restaurants. Like, you can be in downtown Nashville and all of a sudden be in nothing but timber and wide open fields within 15 minutes. It's a dream.
Starting point is 00:29:41 It's a dream. I vote on Nashville. I think y'all should do that. And listen, I like Broadway. I drove, or not drove. I flew to Nashville for my birthday one year. And like 20 of my closest friends. I flew my family and my friends there.
Starting point is 00:29:54 We went to a concert. We stayed at this cool hotel. My only disappointment about Nashville was the food, which is... Really? Interesting. Because I'm a vegetarian. Oh, see, I wouldn't know where to tell you. I had a steakhouse.
Starting point is 00:30:10 I know another steak house. Dude, some steakhouses have great salads and potatoes, and Kristen likes both of those. Very fair. Very fair. But Nashville does look like a blast. I've got some questions. I want to run down McBee Farms by the numbers, but you hit some other things before I start asking Stephen. I'm curious as, you know, where I come from or questions that maybe reality people are less interested in. Well, I just want to talk briefly, go over some of my season two highlights. Let's do it. Tessa, period. Tessa's the best.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Tessa as a narrator, Tessa, I would think, like, Tessa was, like, your aunt or something. Like, she's so perfect. And didn't you say, I feel like you said on Instagram, her music got to be on the show, on the finale? Yeah. So a couple of the background songs that you heard in the finale were actually Tessa's original songs. Oh, I love her to pieces. I hope she never goes away. So Tessa, for me, is like a major highlight.
Starting point is 00:31:04 We already went over cold punching the hills. Kala and the chair. Cala in the fucking chair. She's sliding her out of that room. Dude. Never has there ever been a better gif online than you pushing Cala on the chair. Yeah. So what the cameras didn't pick up just out of timeline on the episode, we were in that
Starting point is 00:31:27 kitchen for an hour and a half listening to Calla and pole would go back and forth. And I'm sitting there saying, Calla, please go downstairs. Like, we'll talk about this tomorrow when we're all sober and everything's making sense. And there was just no getting her up out of that seat. So I said, okay, well, I'm taking the seat downstairs with you then. It was such a good moment. It shows so much restraint because getting in a drunken fight with your significant other is just like the most annoying thing on the face of the planet.
Starting point is 00:31:56 I've been the drunken girl and I've been the girl in the fight with the drunken boyfriend. And I'm just going to carry that with me from now. Luke's a really fun drunk. Like we never get in drunken fights because Luke's like, Luke's the opposite of Cala. instead of being like, I'm not drunk, he's the first person to tell you how drunk he is. Oh, when I feel it, I'm like, hey, guys, I'm drunk. Let's go. Like, yeah, you're floating.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Yeah. Yeah, exactly. The brisket drama, that was, I know it was like so sad for you, but somehow for me, that was, like, wildly entertaining as well. I think because you were so honest about it. Yeah, and I'm, you know, I sound like an idiot online whenever, you know, a lot of people are like, why would you ever trim a brisket? So the whole goal with Arthur Bryant's was they were trying to cut down on what's called your yield loss.
Starting point is 00:32:45 So if you take a 10-bound brisket, you lose 50% by the time it's done smoking, so it weighs 5 pounds. So they're like, we think if we trim some of the fat off and it's more pure meat, if we have an 8-pound brisket, it may still only be 5 pounds, but instead of paying for 10, we're only paying for 8. So they were like, I need you to trim this up just a little bit. We just went a little heavy on the trim, apparently, because whenever they cooked it up, that thing shriveled up about the size of a baseball. It was not good. My question about those brisketes is what happened to all of them you had trimmed for them already. They turned into ground beef. Nice.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Okay, good call. Those are some high quality ground beef. But the problem was I still could only sell it for ground beef pricing. So it was like, I mean, the highest quality ground beef you could find, but I was selling it at, like I lost some money there. Ground brisket? You know, you can't just put that tag on it, add a dollar or two? Unfortunately, it can't. But it did make some good burgers.
Starting point is 00:33:36 I'll tell you that. I bet. Yeah, I bet. Okay, Luke, takeover with your takeover. You're dying to ask about the farm stuff, and then you guys are just going to relish on this. I'm a numbers guy, right? So what, we have like 10 minutes left, maybe?
Starting point is 00:33:49 How many acres do you guys manage in total? And what's a breakdown on what you farm and what's grazed? Or, you know, I'm curious how big is McBee farm ranch? Season two, we farmed 33,000 acres. We ran 2,000 head of cattle, and we have about 6,000 acres of pasture. And then this year, like, whenever you see me talking about how much I hate row crop in season two, like I am downsizing the road crop. So this year, we're down to like 7,500 acres, row crop. Yeah, we drop big time.
Starting point is 00:34:20 And if I had it my way, we'd be down to zero. And it'd be all cattle. It's crops. That just means beans and corn wheat sometimes. Yeah. Yep. So I like the cattle side. So we still have the 2,000 head of cattle.
Starting point is 00:34:33 We've got about 160 bison. And then we're actually going to be growing our sheep herds as well. So we've got about 110 head of sheep right now that will be growing into about 400 head. You're doing that for wool and meat? Mostly meat. Yep. Mostly meat. Do you do milk?
Starting point is 00:34:51 No. We do not do milk. Milk is a tough industry. Man, so you drop from 33,000 acres row crop to 7,500. Yep. And I'm hoping next year we're going to be at like 3,000. And then hopefully the next year we're at zero. I mean, that's got to be a huge shift for Cole and Jesse.
Starting point is 00:35:06 as far as their work goes. Yeah, it is for sure. Cole's been in a tractor cab since the day he could walk. So for him not spending all spring long planning, I mean, just going from 33,000, 7,500, it feels like we're planting a garden now. And for most people, 7,500 acres is still a pretty sizable operation. But, I mean, we knocked it out in like a week of planning this year.
Starting point is 00:35:25 And it was so nice. I loved it. Wow. Yeah, that's dope. I know it's nerdy stuff, farm stuff people might not care about. No, I think there are a lot of people who actually really do care because there's people that watch. I think that's the beauty of watching this show is that you have the Bravo, the Bravo housewives watchers that like it for the family interaction.
Starting point is 00:35:47 But then they're bringing, you guys are bringing over this whole new group of people who actually really wanted to know about this kind of stuff. Yeah. And I can tell, I can say it's all, it's very real. The drama and the stuff that happens farm-wise, I mean, family-wise, I believe it's all real. But I can't speak for sure. I know for sure that the farm stuff, it's up and down. You can't control commodity prices, and that's all the whole risk with the row crops. And you're slow season.
Starting point is 00:36:13 So you go from like super, super busy, obviously, to basically nothing going on, right? Not with the cattle, I guess. Well, the cattle side keeps us busy. But so we have a bunch of businesses down in the Kansas City that are not highlighted. So we have a custom home building business. We obviously have the car washes, which are shown on the show. We have about 500 residential. homes that we use as rental homes. So in our slow season, when we're not busy at the farm,
Starting point is 00:36:41 we're down in Kansas City running those companies day in and day out. Wow. Okay, that's a whole lot more than 500 homes that you rent. You guys also built those? We didn't build all of them. So a lot of them were just renovated or we bought here over the last few years. And then on our custom home building side, we build about 45 homes a year. Wow. Yeah, you employ a lot of people. that's incredible yeah we have a like right around 300 people um across all the companies that we employ nice do you sleep actually i sleep pretty good so i i can't complain too much about my schedule i mean i wake up early i'm up at 4 a.m every morning but by about 9 p.m i'm in bed every every single night oh you're so ready for kids then trust me it sounds that sounds about how mine is
Starting point is 00:37:26 shifted with the right woman though because you that sleep's going to go away and everything else will suffer a little bit at least. That is very. We're going to find you the right lady. Like, you don't need a lady in your life, but now that I know how insanely busy you are and everything that you actually juggle. Kristen matchmaker over here.
Starting point is 00:37:44 I'm a pretty good matchmaker. I mean, not all of the couples I have match made have made it, but, like, they've stayed together for a really long time. If you think about the Vanderpump Rules world, like I introduced Stasi and Beau. I introduced Katie and Tom Schwartz. I introduced, I don't know, some other people. Like, I'm a pretty good matchmaker, and I feel like I know what you need.
Starting point is 00:38:08 Okay. Hey, I'm open to suggestions. I don't know what I need. I make the wrong choices every time. So a question I have, because this is where I think I differ from a lot of maybe guys like you. We like to hunt and fish, right? Would you want a woman that wants to go hunting and fishing with you, or is that your, like, personal time? That's a good question.
Starting point is 00:38:27 See, I've done both. I've dated a woman that is hunted with me, and then other women have never hunted in their lives. And I honestly don't have a preference either way. In fact, I think I would almost lean towards not wanting to hunt because the girl that I did have that wanted to hunt with me, I had to let her shoot the deer that I was really going after. And like, it was kind of hurt me a little bit. That's so funny. For me, it's just like, I know I need my alone time. I need to be able to get out and get away. And if Kristen was like, I want to sit in the tree stand with you.
Starting point is 00:38:56 That would drive you absolutely mad. Can I drive the boat? You can't fish without me. I'd be like, uh, this is, this is the time I get for me. I mean,
Starting point is 00:39:03 I do like going on a boat, but I also respect that you do. Like, that's literally like your time that you just want to like be in a tree by yourself and like skin your deer or whatever it is. You clean your deer by yourself. Watch the squirrels.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Shoot a deer. You know what it goes. Yeah. Yeah. Last one I got for you regarding all this is fishing. You guys have a property of ordering a river. What's your fishing status out there? Because we're coming to see you.
Starting point is 00:39:27 And I need to. to know what I need to bring. He's like, Stephen, where are we going fishing? Yes, y'all come on out here. So we've got about 65 ponds that are all stocked with big bass, croppy. And then for catfishing, there's a private lake that's about two minutes from our farm. It's like 900 acres. It has some great cat fishing.
Starting point is 00:39:45 So we've got everything covered here across the farm. Oh, yeah. And I'll tell you what, I'm going to set up a deep sea trip. You bring your brothers out here. We'll all go out there, catch some tuna. It'll be a good time. I'd be all about that. Okay, wait.
Starting point is 00:39:56 I have one last question. Do you guys know that Allie was pregnant during season two? No, I had no idea. And I can't, I didn't watch, I watched highlights of the finale last night, but actually at the reception, I was like taking Tequila Sunrises over to Allie all night long, like, do a shot with me, do a shot with me. And she wouldn't do it. And I was like, man, why are you being such a buzzkill on your wedding night?
Starting point is 00:40:18 And it never clicked in my head that like she was pregnant. And then later that night, as we were getting a little tore up, Jesse looks over at me and he's like, hey, Allie's pregnant. and I like the look on my face I just about turned pale white and I looked around because I you know the producers are listening to everything you say and so I know Jesse was trying to whisper it under his breath to hopefully the the mics couldn't pick him up and so I'm looking around at the producers like thinking did they just hear that and they did all of them were just like it was like all the cameras in the room we're just like because she had to only be what that you guys filmed that one September October October 19th was their way so okay so she had to have only been like three months long I mean thinking. Yeah, she had her baby April 14th. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Because as soon as I, we know in real life, obviously, that Ali has, Ali and Jesse have a baby now, just watching their faces at certain things, the ways that they looked at each other. And Luke was like, well, no wonder he was so stressed out. Like at certain points, like there was so much more on their plate than we as
Starting point is 00:41:19 viewers knew at the time. And they are, they are such a private couple. You know, obviously I wish they would have said it on season two, but that's, you know, their right to privacy. But yeah, there was times, I think there was episode nine whenever we're sitting in front of my house at a campfire. And I'm talking about how we're actually going to be able to make the payments. I mentioned something about them two having kids. And I had no idea. Like I, I mean, I was just saying some idiotic stuff and seeing the look on their faces now, I'm like, oh, yeah, they're pregnant and they're sitting there thinking that, like, does even know or something? Well, if you look back closely, because I was thinking that. Like, I watched Jesse, like,
Starting point is 00:41:53 doesn't make eye contact. When you say that, he's got to. his head down looking away he doesn't want to give it away at all yeah it's so funny and so you know i never caught on to that ever so summer and kaya so our daughter and jessie's daughter they are three months almost exactly apart so oh really it'll be two months two months sorry uh april and june yeah yeah it'll be exciting to get them together up there your place for sure yeah we can't wait to meet you at bravo con i can't wait to see you guys are you all going to bravo con all the boys we have not heard yet i would assume so um but we're waiting to hear complete confirmation on everything okay i mean we're really excited to hang out and visit you and we're excited for season three whenever
