00:01Hello and welcome to talking baseball. The Milwaukee Brewers are the 2026 World Series champions. They beat Tampa. Let's talk ball.Trevor McGill.Tough one. Bob Euker. See you later.Oh, it is high.Hello and welcome to talking baseball, presented by Fanatic Sports and Casino. If you're locking in your baseball bets, Fanatic Sports and Casino is a place to do it.Winning hits different here.
00:36I am Jake Storelli. That is Trevor Plouffe.Rob Chiracco's producing, Dalton Feeley, getting some bonus info for us as the Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champs.Last year, they took over the regular season, and then they got mugged in the playoffs, and will this ever work and can getting better?Do they have enough big guys?
00:59They were the best. They were the best start to finish. There's something beautiful about that, Trev, besides all the other storylines.your guys, Yelly, a manager that ever since Pat Murphy got the job,we're like, I don't, this is either going to be brilliant or a nightmare, and it's looking brilliant as the Brewers win their first ever World Series.Coach Trev, how are you?
01:23Congratulations to all the Brewers fans all throughout Wisconsin.I'm sure Brewer's territory runs into different states. There's probably a little bit of, I don't know, Illinois. There's probably a little bit of Minnesota, maybe.maybe Michigan. I don't know. There's got to be more than just Wisconsin, but no matter whereyou're at, if you enjoy ball, you enjoy the brewers. I think you nailed it. I mean, it's a veryfun team to watch, a fun team to root for. And we've talked about this countless times overthe last, I don't know, a month or so, like they're not going anywhere. Like, this is, you're going
01:55to like this team so much. You're going to end up hating them, hello Dodgers. Like, this is going tobe one of those teams where people are going to start being like, oh, the brewers again, becausethey're that good. Put thaton a shirt right now. That's notshirt worthy. It's okay. Yeah, I don't knowif we need to do that tonight. You are kind of right. Like, you know, in threeyears from now, the Brewers keep winning. Cooper
02:15Pratt's young innocence is going to belike, front, that guy did it again. Can we stop creating ralliesand making great defensive plays? Gross. But forat least for a night. And I thinklonger than that, man, becauseI don't know. I can already picture the articles
02:31how the Brewers saved baseball withdefense speed and contact and all that fun stuff. And all of that usually ignores one of the best pitching staffs.Maybe the best bullpen ever assembled.I'll get, I don't know. They got a chance for that, right?Well, I'll let you and Chris Rose dig into all that in baseball today. For now, we could talk about this game.
02:53I mean, Big Dog, I have half a bird.We were live streaming in the game and I can get us through it.I guess is there anything else you want to get off your chance?us right off the rip as we just watch the Brewers win the World Series. Not really. I mean, I think there is a point. Maybe we'll get to it. And maybe I should justmention it now. Like some of these guys, there's a couple guys on that team that like one, like we need to come up with a word for this. You win the WBC. You have the best record overallin baseball. And then you win the World Series. And you're probably going to be World Series MVP,
03:30looking at you Contreras. I mean, Truroio's got a shot at it.do they already name that?We don't have it yet. It's going to be interesting.Maybe Cooper Pratt. There's a lot of guys.Could be Ashby.Breaking news.
03:43Hit the passing button, Bob.Three.Two.Awesome.William Contreras is your MVP.That's a pretty good year, coach.Think about that.We were there the entire way with this guy.
04:01Your fingerprints all are over this.Javier Sanoha picking him up in the WBC.You win that best record in baseball, win the World Series, win World Series MVP.You got everybody in a tizzy because you're just challenging everything.I still think he's going to get credited for even a better yearafter they figure out what all of that means.Just, you know, I'm happy for the Brewers and their organization
04:28because we have a little bit of behind the scenes with them. And they work hard. They are very, very smart.they believe in what they do, and here they are hoisting the trophy. So it worked.Yeah, and we're going to have a lot of time to talk CBA and stuff, but they have, I don't want to say as minimal assets, because that makes it sound like I'm putting down like Milwaukee
04:50and what they have to work with. But, man, financially and, you know, popular, like some of the different things youcould pull out, it shows that if your franchise is run well, you can have a chance in this great game, more than a chance. They just won the World Series.Let's talk about the game a little bit and then we'll start doing the late night Jake and Trev wander into some different wormholes conversation. But game five of the World Series. The Milwaukee Brewers Drew Rasmussen from the Tampa Bay Rays as he would try to keep their season alive, but it's his mound.
05:29He's Jacob Mizorowski slipslide in a little bit on that Tampa Mount because nobody's left foot had ever gone that far on the mound.in the second.Cooper Loop.Pratt and Hittney with the RBI single. It's 1-0-0.Crew.Stay that way into the 5th.David Alexander Hamilton.
05:52Has it missed his shot all postseason.Except one throw.RBI single.2-0.3-0.Contreras.MVP is what they call me.The RBI double.
06:04And then it's 4-0 as Cooper PrattSacked fly.is underrated. Mizorowski was fantastic. 5.2. Two hits. Only two K's, but you know what I like? Zero runs fromthe Miz. He hands it off to Jojo. What do you know? No, Romero. Abner Uribe. And then how aboutTrevor McGill comes in. He gave up one, but they don't care about that in Milwaukee at all.The Brewers win the game 4 to 1.They take the series 4 to 1 in Milwaukeeis your world baseball champions.
06:49Nice job.Papa, last burn of the season right there.Yeah, and I mean, that was all free ball.I got nothing.I was dressed as Ben Stiller today for our Halloween party at the office.I was just live streaming. That was all from the hip.So I kind of wish I had more for the people in Milwaukee.
07:05But we got to get it out there, Pa.Can I tell you?one better right now? Yes.I don't knowthe name of this movie, but you look likeTom Cruz and he's likehe's got gray hairjust like you.
07:19Okay. Someone find the nameof that movie. Okay, Pop.Okay, you're like a-diggin the salt and peppera little. Oh, the little S&P is gettingto you. Yes. Okay. Where do we start?I thinkwe start with the factthat I wasn't sure
07:38who was going to start for the race.Yes.I didn't know.I knew Drew Rasmussen would have to get involved.I didn't know he was going to tow the rubber first. And he did, and he looked pretty good, coach. It's so we talked about this last night when they were, they were discussing. And I said, why not bring Rasmussen on short rest?
07:55I mean, look, it's your best pitcher and you got to win.And they had come out, I guess last night, at least this is what Rosie told me that they said,no way, we're not doing it.Obviously, this guy's been through a ton, injury-wise.but at the end of the dayit's the World Series and if your guy comes and tells youhey I'm good to go you throw themI mean that's just how it goes
08:14if there's anywhere to do itand to stretch yourself a little bitit's in the World Seriesand I feel like that used to be more commonplaceand now we're so scared with it allI think I'm not really sureI'm not sure exactly whyinjuries have not slowed down
08:30because we've been taking care of these guyslike it's not thatlike we've kind of like talked aboutthat and proven that.Rasmussen's a freaking stud.A lot of these guys on the raise deservea lot of credit. I don't know how much we're going to get totonight because most of this is going to be about
08:46Milwaukee. But Rasmussen, taking the pill, looked good early onin this game. One, two, three,11 pitches in the first. I thought itwas cool that he took the ball, though, because they needed someone. They needed someone to do that or elseit was going to get out of hand quickly, I thought. But he did a good job.
09:02Yeah, so, you know, they go through it. And your, you're going to,You're pitching against Mizorowski that his worst day is only going to be so bad.I know I've been kind of tough on his playoff performances,or at least not being able to be like that seven-inning, eight-inning,oh, my God, playoff start. But you know you're going to have to be pretty special against him.And Rasmussen looks good.
09:23He does get God in the second.Terang double after Contreras pops out,free-lick hit by pitch. And here's Cooper Pratt, man.I it's it's what makes all of sports beautiful but especially the game that we love so muchI mean this guy it was his fifth straight hit in the World Series at this pointTrev I don't know if you caught a little bit of his postgame interview they go around theygot Miz they got Yelly they get Cooper Pratt he wasn't able to say words like the only words
09:56he got out there was like Cooper you know tell us how you're feeling right now you goWell, I don't, four months.Literally the only two words he got out was four months, because that's how long he's been a major leaguer. And he comes up with five straight hits. The homer that almost won it for them last night, and maybe if they pitch Mizorowski, and we can talk about that about Uncle Smolz's comments later.
10:22Fifth straight hit, and then it's won nothing. And again, that building is loud. It's not shots fired at Tampa, like these Brewers fans.traveling, traveling, traveling. But I don't know.In a game where it felt like Tampa had to be perfect,it felt like an imperfect start.Yeah, you didn't want,
10:40if you're Tampa, you have to get out to a lead,to really feel like you got a chance in this gamebecause we know what was going to happenwith that Milwaukee bullpen. And you got Miz on the mound. So there's a lot of things fighting against youand would really help to go out and get a lead.
10:56But you're right, Cooper Pratt.I thought it was six in a row, coach.I thought they said that on the broadcast. He gets one more.more at bat, Trev, but we're in the second inning.Oh, that's when they said, okay. My bad. So that was the fifth one in a row. And he's just like pulling his hands in.D-Roe did a really good job breaking down his approach and showed like his hand placement. And really like what I always talk about, like eliminating excess movement.
11:17I think that's the first step. When you get to the big leagues, you're like, okay, I got to clean my shit up.It's got to be more direct. And then, you know, you start to feel yourself a little bit and you understand, hey, I can be at this level. You can open it up a little bit more. But I think that his approach was great. As we're watching this play, he ends up trying to get the second base. And Camonair does a really, really good job coming up and getting that balland getting him in a rundown.Yeah.And I look at this now and I'm like, oh, man, I can't believe the race.
11:42It's such a good job.Freelick didn't even score on that.I have 10-U baseball brain.Like if anybody gets in a pickle, everybody else is scoring. It's just like, yeah. This is the big leagues and they like just executed like a pickle.Hey, there was a second though.I mean, Sal Freelix on third, these brewers, you're wondering if Tampa's going to
12:00crack. I think everyone thought about it for a second.Yeah. And yeah. It's a really easy play if you can just play catch. It's, yeah.I mean, was I, was I wanted Sal to go? Absolutely.Yeah, and I know we're going to do some Brewer's big picture stuff, but CooperPratt 6-4-2-10 and it looked like his, you know, I think there'd be some teams thatbe like, hey, you know, let's work on that big stroke. Like, dude, you're right.
12:25That short and sweet he's got going right now, I think his next hit is another up andin fastball that it looks like it's by him and he gets around on it because he's so tight to hisbody. We saw him do that the other night. Very impressive. And another one of the like fourbrewers that had their hand in the MVP discussion that it was kind of like, wait, if he keepshidden, are they just going to give it to the kid? Did he watch the video and he got diced upspring train 2020 when he said, you just got to keep the hands tight? I think so. You got to keepyour hands in on the body. Really tight right there. TheyGet out of the inning.
13:03Mizorowski is sharp except for the mounds. There's a couple mound delays that you're wondering,is this going to bother the big fella? And they're showing the replays. And like his foot slide him pretty good. It's happened to him in a lot of different starts this year.I believe it happened in Angel Stadium, City Field.I don't like the explanation.
13:22It's like, oh, he just steps too far. It's like, well, like, I don't know, like just put an extra foot of clay down there.Let me give you an explanation. He steps too far, Trev.He steps.Did you, I was shocked. When they show the, he's huge. When they show the slow mo of his stride,
13:40like his back knee almost touches the ground. And if you start doing the math on how tall and long he is,if his knee's almost on the,but no one else's foot gets out there. So the mound, the mound ain't used to it.Yeah, it's not.And usually that's a good thing to have, like, your own landing area, but they just,
14:00the clay wasn't there. And I'll never talk badly about a ground screwbecause they all work extremely hard. They did everything they could to make sure it was right.Once they started putting some clay down there, patting it down,it ended up being okay.I do want to say Rob's got the strikeout,
14:15one of these strikeouts up right now.Miz Rowski, one thing that's cool about him, obviously very good, you know, in the Salliang. He's got his own signature fist pump, which like, only the greats have that.Oh, interesting.Good fist bump.Jeets.
14:30And go golf.Tigray.Tiger Woods.I feel like there's a Billy Buckner.Oh.Kirk Gibson?Yeah.I mean, you know, like, you know a good one.
14:43He's got a signature one.I like that.A guy, I can already see, and this is my old man kicking in, you know, I dyed my hair today, so I can feel old.even the steps he's taken in the past year of seeing him of like growth like I've already like the firsttime I saw him I was like what is this it looks like he got off the wrong bus at Williamsportand now he's pitching for the brewers and what happened now I just I see a little bit of like a younggrinky and I'm not not necessarily as pitching but just like oh like yeah he's baby face now andthis is all exciting there's going to be a day when he's a grizzly 34 year old still figuring it out
15:23and maybe that fist pump won't be as big,but when it is, that's going to be sick. And he looked good tonight, and hey, man, credit to the raise again.I know some Brewer's fans, as I've been a little,I've had the highest expectations on Mizorowski seasonsbecause he's had one of the most special seasons ever, that in this game he only has two strikeouts, that I know he's running on fumes a little bit,
15:48slash, I think there's a real conversationthat, like, the next evolution of Ms.that breaking ball. He hasn't had that this postseason. That's what I'll say. That it's been,he's relied more and more on the heat. But, you know, two strikeouts tonight. I mean, that's crazy. That's for someone as dominant as he was this year that I think it's a little bit of a longseason and a little bit of credit to the raise for Batlin. Yeah, I think it's interesting.I've seen him lights out this year and I've seen him not get hit, but like not have thestrikeouts. He has to have people chasing pitches top of the zone. That's when he gets his case.
16:28He throws the fastball at the top of the zone. People swing through it all the time. When he's down inthe zone, people can hit him. So I think there is a little bit of a push for Mizorowski, maybe to himselfsaying, like, I can elicit weak contact and try to go deeper into games. And then if you realize,I don't have that fastball at the top of those zone. I don't have the V-Lo for it. My spin's not there. Then that fastball at the top doesn't necessarily play,so you do have to start working down.I agree with you on becoming a guy that throws his pitch mixa little bit more throughout the game.
17:01Typically this year it's been like, you know, foot on the gas for the first time through the order. Then he'll start to mix a few in second time. And then third time through, you can expect a little bit of difference from him.But I bet as he evolves as a pitcher,we'll see him mix the pitch mix up a little bit.Yeah, I saw a couple cutters I really like tonight.
17:20tonight that there will probably be a change-up evolution at some time, but we've got time to get there.A splitter from Ms.Crazy.In this 2026 postseason, he had six strikeouts in his first start against San Diego. That was his most, so very different. And this episode is brought to you by booking.com.Booking dot, yeah, an official travel partner of MLB.Booking.com makes it easy for every baseball fan to travel and catch a game.
17:44Wherever the team's schedule takes them, a playoff game, a weekend series, even a random Tuesday in a city you never been to.It all counts. And the great thing about fall in baseball is that every ballpark comes with a whole city, the neighborhood that turns into a tailgate. There's a city that does that involved in this episode. The local food spots, even the streets that buzz a little differently on game day.Every stadium has its own version of that.Booking.com makes it easy to find a great hotel or vacation home right in the middle of it,
18:09wherever that happens to be.Once somewhere gets in your head, go on.Book that trip, it's easy. The easiest way from where you are to where you want to be,booking.com, booking.com, booking.Yeah, an official travel partner of MLB,Major League Baseball Trademarks used with permission.Okay, so it's won nothing,
18:26and it's not where you want to be,but there is a little game of chicken hereof surviving the Rays, or excuse me,surviving Mizorowski, surviving the Brewers,Drew Rasmussen giving them an effort.I guess there is something to be said here. We've got a hit-by-pitchand Chandler Simpson single in the fourth.
18:44The fourth is they had a chance. They got Miz on the ropes a little, bit here. They get runners on second and third, and they got Williamson up. The game-winninghitter from last night. Kind of is this the next Trevor Plouffe? Does he have the ice in his veins?Sadly will never know. Yeah, so they got a chance here. I mean, these are the things you've got to doas a team that's facing a massive uphill battle. I mean, you've got to get these knocks. I knowMizrauss. He's on the bump. I get it. He ends up hitting a chopper to Hamilton who, look, that's beenshoddy third base defense for the brewers.
19:19Holy smokes, man.Imagine it back out of way.I mean, look, both of these guys who are supposedly defense first dudes, Hamilton and Ortiz, they got a little bit of the Iitis over there where it's like, I don't really want tothrow this ball. And I mentioned earlier in this series how Richie Palacios has got something going on atsecond.Like he's fighting his throws as well.
19:43And I thought that might come up big in the series. And it hasn't.He's actually made all the plays, and they haven't looked pretty. But yes, those Ortiz and Hamilton, Hamilton ends up shooting this one up the line.Bowers is a great job staying on the base. We're going to see it right here.Just keep running through that. That's an easy, easy throw right there.
20:01But circumstances and context do not make that a difficult. They make it a difficult play.So if you're Hamilton, you're going in there hugging Bowers, saying, thank you.I think he did.I guess I want to do a zoom out question. This was something Jimmy Norp was on.And as you know, Jimmy Norp kind of knows ball. He's just a young boy.
20:23He's going to need a couple years to figure it out. What?Kind of nose ball. That was a compliment.Yeah.He was shocked by how many first pitch fastballs the race took againstMizorowski. And I was in the same boat because they were in the zone.
20:42and it's one of those like, I don't know, what are you sitting?I realize it's a long,we just talked about how the mound can't deal with Mizorowski, but like, I don't know.If you're not sitting first pitch fastball over the middle against Ms.I don't really know what we're doing.Yeah, especially first time through. He's coming with the heaters.
21:02I get that.I don't know if it was a game plan thing. It could have been a, hey, man,we're not really seeing this guy that well.Like, we don't have a ton of A-Bs off him,so maybe I do want to see one,get settled in, whatever it may be.It looks bad when you start taking those
21:16and they're all for strikes and he's getting ahead. But yeah, I mean, I don't really have an answer for that.Okay. No, I just...I don't think it was like a game plan thing. It could have just been one of those days.Yeah. Yeah.Top of the fifth, the Brewers add another run.And Drew Rasmussen comes out,
21:33and I guess there's going to be some fodder in thisand you have to trust the players in the teamsbecause they know so much more than us.Rasmussen looked pretty sharp. He comes out with 48 pitches.Again, this is a day early that I do think you're right.I think if this was talking baseball in the 90s,A, this would just be you and me talking to each other at a bar
21:51over a nice table red and nobody listening. But I don't know.I think Drew Rasmussen gets a couple more innings a couple more years ago.Who knows what conversations were had?Drew Rasmussen is someone that was called a medical miraclefor all of the arm injuries he's gone through. So I guess I don't get mad at it because I was hoping cominginto this game, he was going to give them like two
22:14winnings. But that's got to feel a littleweird for Ray's fans and probably likeDrew Rasmussen a little bit.Yeah, I don't really know what to think.I get, I get like, you know, trying to take careof a guy and I don't know whatdiscussions were had. They don't really havesomeone to bring in.
22:30They're like, they were looking forward tobringing them in. Yeah. You know, like on the other side, that'sthey got a couple guys like that.Like, hey, Ms. doesn't got it. Like,we love our chances with this guy. I don't thinkCash really had anybody in his bullpen that he was stoked to bring in.And again, these guys have had great years.
22:48A lot of them are very good pitchers. It's the way that this series has worked out and the way this, well, I guess, just really just this series has worked out where, yeah, he has not felt comfortable going. But in the end, you know, kind of he forces, the team forces his hand to have to go toKelly here. And we get another guy, Pratt. What does he do?Holds the hands in.
23:10Six straight hit. That's when they got the same. That's a World Series record for a rookie. And then Mitchell's singles, I sent you guys a DM I got today about Mitchell.Turns out I was right about him.Did you see it?I don't know if I did actually.I remember you texting us, but I don't think I read it.
23:30You have no idea what I'm talking about then, so that didn't land.Oh, I didn't.No, I was streaming.I got it, Trev.Oh, okay.Yes, I did.Yes.Yeah, it was 830.
23:40Sorry, I was working.Yeah, and I think part of that decision,I'm going to assume I was a little tough on Kevin Kelly. And who knows?Again, all these guys are banged up.I think it was being the bottom of the Brewers lineup.I think that was kind of where they thought they could shoot Kelly today. So the rumor was they were going to push Rasmussen near 60 pitches.
24:03So he kind of did his job that I think they went for Kelly at the bottom of the lineup. He gets got there. And dude, these guys are every at bat is just a dog, a dog fight.Hamilton's one of the scary power threats on the team somehow.Like everyone, how many Brewers swung at a bad pitch?Like, can we track that stat?Because it's, I bet it's shocking.Yeah, I mean, you definitely can track that stats on baseball support right now.
24:34Yeah, the bottom of the lineup was not something to go after.No.It just wasn't.Between Pratt and Hamilton, like you're saying, you got Freelick down there as well.I feel like there was just no.easy outs in this lineup and that's why they're the world series champions first and third in thisbottom fifth or yeah bottom fifth top fifth excuse me um we have hamilton up and the broadcast
24:59duo was calling for a first and third bunch the entire game and i was like hey i would actuallylove to see that i i like that play i think there are ways to defend it uh people are just you justcan't be scared of a slash essentially like anthony arisen will tell you that you can defend thatYou just got to go be brave, essentially. He does not end up bunting. He hits a freaking laser past a drawn and infield to go up to nothing. So you got 7, 8, 9.They all singled.
25:27I don't know, man. This was just another Brewer's attack here in the bottom of the fifth.Yeah.And again, you can Monday morning quarterback a lot of this.It would be interesting run around first there if they did like corners in,middle infield halfway.Like then could that have been a double play ball?I don't know. That's just me fake micromanaging later.
25:49You just, with him, with him you don't.I'm typically down with that.Like the new age way to think about all this stuff is just bring the infield in,like almost like no matter of the situation. There maybe they'll come a day where there's some pushback on that. But as of right now, that's what the number of times.Oh, you mean like everything else? No, yeah. As of right now, that's the best play play.
26:11That's supposed to have situational feel with like, wait, who's the hitter?who's running, who's the pitcher?Like, oh, just kind of absorbing all the information.Don't get me started.I'll get you so hot tonight. It's like you just have one guy close to the base.I always like, can you get to the bag, please?Anyways, that's not what they do now.
26:31Everyone's in.This one doesn't work out for them to nothing. At this point, I looked at Teddy and I said, I think this ball came to over.Well, another one, two, three from the Ms. 12 pitches. And yes, I think I was going to give some leeway because of how much I do believe in the beautiful game. And two nothing, sure, that's a hit by pitch, a single and a homer. But in the sixth, when the Brewers add two runs. And Garrett Clevenger's in the game, who hasn't been used a ton with them.
27:02He was off the ALCS roster. He's in this roster. They were going to need him today. And again, it's not shots fired at him. This Brewer's team was relentless.First pitch, hit by pitch, Yelly, and it's just like, both teams were looking for the game to unravel, because we saw a game unravel.
27:21And like this Burrers team had them outgunned.I think both teams realized that, about a couple innings to game three at least, that when Yelie gets on, there's Contreras the bad man,he just misses a homer, double, that'll score Yellybecause everyone runs on this team,Terangs up single. He steals a...
27:41Like, the relentless300...I keep referencing the movie 300,and I'm sorry, it's like not that cool anymore, but God, it was so cool in our time.Like, they just march on youuntil they push you off the cliffand this inning was the pushing off the cliff.
28:01Okay.Like, you don't have a pitcher to come in and stop us.We are going to continue to do this.and by the way, we have the best bullpen everand the biggest freak still on the mound.Yeah, I mean, if I thought 2-0 was over,I surely thought 4-0 the game was over here. What did you think about the fly ball,
28:22delayed catching or not for the sack fly?I'm curious.I have an opinion.I want to hear yours first, though. In live time, I said drop it.After thinking about it more,it's a really tough spotbecause you drop that ball
28:40and then they bloop a double down the lineand just everything's broken. And with Contreras runningand if Alade catches that a step forwardon the mound that's in the field, like he actually would have a decent shot at it.But in live time, I'll tell you what,I said drop it.
29:01So the run expectancy with runners on second and thirdone out is 1.4.You catch that ball all day long.Okay.How about that?numbers. I get it, but I just Googled it. I just Googled what it was, Jake. I don't have thatthe top of my head, okay? I mean, would you rather be, would you rather be down 2-0 or 3-0?Like, like there's another number there. So I get it, I get that's, I get that's a stat
29:28that some geek made up to get to you, but if I'm trying to win a world series, I'm trying to doanything I fucking can to keep runs off the board. So that was my reaction in lifetime. I get that itcould have backfired and then the rest of the game could have got like really sad.But also, I kind of can't have that run score. You said it was over it to nothing. So I can't let a third score.I think you try to throw the catcher out at home and try to double it up.Also, like Pratt has six hits in a row, dude.
29:59It's not like you have somebody out there that's struggling with the bat.I know.I think you catch the ball.Every time that this comes up, I might catch the ball.Take the out.I agree.but do you also understand there's a little just like old head baseball in that statement?Of just catch the ball?
30:16Yes.Like listen to the literal, the phrasing you're giving like, just catch the ball and move on.I don't know what you're trying to say right now, though.I got to keep a runoff.I think it's a near impossible.I think this is baseball's.What's that, what's that train decision where like the train's either going to kill 10 people or it's going to kill you?Do you guys know what I'm talking about at all?
30:36Okay, I've lost you.I'll Google it in a second.I think it's a near-impossible baseball decisionbecause you're setting yourself up for such potential failureif you don't catch it.But I really don't want that run on the board, coach.Yeah, I'm trying to think of like a good situation.I mean, I don't know, man.
30:57Big time strikeout guy up there that's going to get like slow runner strikeout guy.So maybe you can see that.As everyone listening that knows knows how bad I screwed this up,it's called the trolley problem. It's a philosophical psychology experiment that there's a runaway trolley, and if you pull the lever to desert it to one side,it'll kill one person instead of five. And it's like a whole psychological debate of like,
31:27what do you do you do nothing and allow the five people to die,or do you pull the lever and cause the death of one?Oh, gosh.Dalton has said he's heard of this. This is like a real thing. Can I give my answer? So you're saying, like, the question is not like, clearly you want less people to die,but do you want to be involved in taking someone's life when you weren't before?
31:52I think so.I think you look at it as I saved four lives.I think so too, right?Who are the five? That's what I got to know.Right?Like, who are the people? Are you saving the run?
32:03Uh, who's pitching?Who's running?Anyways, glad we covered the trolley problem. And that's brought you by National Car rental.Yes.Have you ever noticed how some people.people have travel figured out different types of travel. They're on the fast track and already inthe driver's seat while everyone else is still checking in. It kind of feels like they're winning
32:22at travel and honestly they are because when you rent with National Car Rentals, you show upfeeling like a winner before you even get to the game. And winners know something great is waitingfor them in the on-deck circle like an effortless car rental experience. With Nationals EmeraldClub, you skip the counter, choose any vehicle on the Emerald Island. Go straight to the car youactually want traveling on your own terms. That means more speed.more choice and total control over your tripthe way travel should feel becauserenting with National isn't just about getting
32:48from point A to point B. It's about arrivinglike a winner and driving off like one, two. When it travel, rent todayat nationalcar.com.I've already lost all credibility, sowhat do I care? Yeah, I know. Do we want to talk aboutit? I mean, honestly, I know this is going to feelkind of rude. We can kind of speed run the rest of the game. I mean,
33:11yeah, I'm trying to think if there was anything reallythere, a little bit of bottom seven stuff going on.The race shoot their shot. They didn't start Palacios and Victor Mesa Jr., which, again, I kind of didn't agreewith because you're looking, for me, if the rays were going to keep this series going, they needed a spark from someone, and those are two spark-plug players.Yeah, I kind of didn't love that.Although Valades at Bats were good, so I don't know.
33:40He does have a star.Yeah, Bowers took a double A from him early on the game, which I thought was a reallybig time play at the time. Mesa Jr. does have a stronger arm that maybe we wouldn't have hadjust on the trolley experiment for everyone in live time. But again, like, think about thematchups we're talking about. Like sometimes you have a guy on the bench who it's like, oh, you know, this guy had a 980 OPS first lefties this year. This guy's an absolute weapon. When are theygoing to deploy him? And the nicest way to Palacios and Mesa, especially where we're at in the series. They're not that, especially in the seventh inning. It's your eBay.
34:11The bench is just as hard as a bullpen to predict for a team.I think they're kind of one in the same, whereas it's fluid throughout the year who's going to be on your bench.I know you try to like, hey, we got this guy, this guy, and we have some lanes for this. And a lot of teams are platooning.I understand that.So you do try to make it work from the beginning of the season on.But I feel like it just changes with who's injured, who's hot, who gets, who figures things out during the season. And so I agree.
34:41I'm a big like we need a bench. We need a complete roster.Like I like having it.I think it is hard to build that. It's not as easy as saying like, oh yeah, obviously we get somebody that can hit lefties on our bench.Like you just, where are the guys at?You know, they don't grow on trees. The same way the bullpen usually ends up, whatever you think your bullpen is going to be at the beginning of the year, it's not that at the end of the year.
35:08It's, yeah, no argument against.it.The gamerolls on.I mean, we're in the 8th.McGill is in.I think that's a talking point.Yeah, please.
35:19What was Murph going to do with the bullpen?Who was he going to go to?No, I had to cover a lot ofinnings last night.McGill in for onebatter last night.I think a lot of people were like, okay, well,Rose told me he thought that
35:35Contreras lost confidencein McGill.and so because Contreras didMerv did and it's like whenwhen did that happenthe first game of the world serieslike a little hiccupthat they won by the way
35:50turns out he did not lose confidence in himbecause he goes Romero who comes inreplaces Miserowski when he comes outwith what I believe is a left calf crampwouldn't have had that if he pitched the night last nightUribe comes in for two-thirds of an inninggets the job doneso he's got like a kind of like a redemption arc because he had one off outing as well he's been
36:13fantastic he's awesome mcgill ends up going two full innings and if you watch the game you knowin the ninth thing there was a little bit of traffic on they're up for nothing but who's sittingthere looking to get the ball chomping at the bit baby our guy ashby and i thought they might do iti thought it was really great that i guess either way i would have been happy if ashbycomes in there and gets to close that game outand is the guy on the mound. I'mhappy for him because he just had such an incrediblepostseason and regular season.
36:46But I think it was cool that they let McGill kind ofgo through that and endthe game. He's been on the hill for them all year longat the end of games. He wasdamn near perfect. So I kind of like the decision.Yeah. Andby the way, in the eighth inning,
37:02you know, on our sheet, one, two, three, teninnings pitched that Paul Churillocatches down the line is crazy.Yeah, great play. And then Yandi just missesone that goes to the wall. So thinkabout all of this. And if you're new, if you just came in for this episode,A, we love to have you, come get some more baseball in your life.If you've been on this Brewer's journey with us,
37:23again, it's a conversation. We did this with the Dodgers, the super team Dodgers.Does Teosker catch that ball?I don't think he does. No, he's not a shot at Teo,because he's one of my favorite players I've watched like this decade.but it's the whole Brewer's identity of like, this is what we stop. And instead of a lead off doublein the eighth inning of the World Series,
37:46it's an out and let's go on to the next guy. That was a huge talking point for usis how many rallies can you stop from happening with your defense? They did that better than anybody.Did you see Garrett Mitchell and Sal Freedick have a,like a, what do you call that? What am I trying to say here?I got it. You take it?
38:08They didn't like that. Both of them wanted the pill tonight.Oh, yeah.Like there was one that Mitchell took, the other one Freelick took, and they were just like, it's my ball.Hicks and Camerro had a good one today after their pop up tomorrow. This is the World Series. Go get that ball.Yeah.Go get that ball, pie. I'm not letting that drop.
38:26That's different because we've seen this one fall before in this series.Oh, boy. That was pretty good. These are all Camerero's ball, but I think Hicks is like, dude, I don't know.Well, Hicks.Because of what happened, Hicks decided to take this one in his own hands.Let's give some brewers some big flowers. It's their first World Series championship.
38:47Crazy.They went 11 and 2 this postseason. The best postseason record by an NL team since this 1976.Big Red Machine mentioned Chris Rose just got some lead in his pencil. Both losses that the Brewers had were 4 to 3 when, leading by two plus games in the series. So there's an argument they weren't,didn't necessarily have their bestest foot forward.
39:14Okay.They didn't allow more than four runs in a postseason game. That's crazy. That's insane. You know, we can look up, we have this somewhere,so maybe Dalt can get on it.What was their record during the year allowing four runs or less?I bet it's really, really good.
39:35Yeah.And they carried that over into the postseason and had no game.Who would they go through again?San Diego, L.A. and the Rays?Yeah.Sheesh.That was a tough N.L. this year.World Series champions with the best combined regular season
39:58and postseason records in the wild card era, the 98 Yankees.Oh, look at that.Yankees mentioned. One 25 and 50 combined. The 2018 Red Sox, 119 and 57, the 22 Astros, 117 and 58, and the Milwaukee Brewers.2026, 114 and 61.Where do we go now? That's a lot of the big stuff.
40:22I mean, do we want to do, I feel like we should do one more.Because you and I have more Brewer's thoughts.Like just throughout the season when we've talked about them, like you said,we have connections to this franchise that, you know, some, like their PR team has been great to us from the start and, you know, being at the World Series that I guess I'll put this out there as kind of your last chanceto just give love where love needs to be given.I was happy.
40:51Yeah, it was.I mean, I don't know.Give love where love needs to be gives. That's like, that feels like a bad lyric in a song.I do think that everyone should.should look at this team and say, like, this is a real baseball team. And I get, like, they have one of the highest number of analytical workers, like, in that department. That sounded about as dumb as I could make it sound right there.
41:22They got a big analytical team up there. They use the numbers very, very well. This is an analytically put together team on paper. But if you get around these guys and talk to him,I mean, Daniel Vogelbach is their hitting coach. The guy wants to just pump you up.He's about as old school as it gets. Now, so I think this is a great time for everybody to get together and say,
41:48yes, information is great. How you use it is even better. And this team took the information, but played baseball with it.They played baseball with it.They ran the bases. They played good defense.you can't you can't be analytically driven with defense i don't care what you say like like even if you'relike well obviously they tell you where to play i'm like okay dude that's your sprayed charts like that's
42:15that's as old as time dude so like i i the shifting to me and all that doesn't really bleed into thatlike it is the hard work that makes you a good defensive team being out there working on yourthrows your defensive prowls working on you know bunts or hit and runs orwhatever it is. Like this team also put in the work, like very smart team, well put together. But they put in the work, dude. And, and they're grinders. Like, they took pride in beinggrinders, which is another old school way of thinking about the baseball game. So I think this teamshould be looked at as like a unifier between like, quote unquote, like real baseball people andthen like the data people. Like this was a team where like both worlds collided. And I don't want to
43:00hear any different. Well, because John Smolts everybody right now, if you think this team's one-sided,you've lost all credibility. Yes. And you're in La La Land, all right? Because it wasn't. They gotinformation. They use it the right way, but these are a bunch of dogs here, man. Pat Murphy is a freakingdog, a grinder, a rat, whatever you want to call it. They're baseball dudes. And I love that. I love that.So yeah, man, peace and love and unity.Nice.John.I echo all of that, and I think it's 100% right.
43:37I really do.It's cool.I hope managing comes back more tough managing.Like, that's kind of the deal. That's kind of the deal. It's kind of like what young men need.Yes, dude.Yes.
43:51To be managed, to be coach.Think about what football coaches do to their guys. They basically, like, hit them. You baseball?A lot of baseball teams, I think, got a little soft.Bob Knight, like, he was famous for throwing chairs.Yeah, not great.I don't want to summon it.
44:07I think we hit a good area in, like, the 90s, 2000s of like,I don't know anything about him other than that.Don't throw chairs at your guys, but you could still coach them up.And I think Pat Murphy, between life stuff, some of the silly stuff, whether it's pocket pancakes, the turtle, did you see his rant on ties? And I'm kind of with them.He was like, what are ties for? He's like, ties are literally just for show.
44:33They like, don't help you out. They're not like, it's not like a scarf to keep you worn.Like, he's like, ties do nothing for me.So I don't wear them.I was like, all right.Oh, yeah, Pat.That's nothing.I think you're right on all that.
44:50I do think there is a layer under this that, yes, they brought in ball players.Everyone plays defense. And I've told you my new joke, and it's actually not a joke, is my way of telling my analytics of asking if a player is a good defender is giving a thumbs up and an up, down, and middle direction. That it's kind of perfect.Bryce Terang, is he a good defender?Three, two, one.Taylor Walls, good defender.
45:18Three, two, one.To be fair, Richie Palacios, good defender.three, two, one. It's like, it's meat. Okay.Dude, the scouting department kind of works. And I think they kind of used that to see that. But this is all under a layer. We've sadly moved on from the Brewers because, oh, man, everyone plays defense and everyone's fast and they have this contact approach.Nobody's, no man is better than another man, like all that good, like kind of old school military style.
45:54type stuff. Dude, that's all under a layer of their pitching is gross and has been gross. And it's been a joke on this show that they can bring guys in and tap into them and have guyshave amazing seasons. Robert Gasser was their best starting pitcher in this postseason. How good the bullpen was? It's a legendary bullpen. I think you're right. I think it's goingto go toe to toe with that Kansas City bullpen that's probably had the belt of best bullpen.of all time. I think this bullpen might take it from them because they have that. And it's, dude, who's the flashy guy on here? Like, I don't want to be shots fired at any of theseguys. I mean, like, I guess your eBay's kind of a swaggy. Yeah, I was going to say it's a very clear
46:38answer for who's the flashy guy. But, like, you know, Ashby took a while to, like, find itwith these people. Um, Joe Joe Romero was traded over. Uh, Trevor McGill what he's turned into, the second lowest ERA and batting average allowed by any bullpen.in a single postseason behind.2022, Houston.I might have to revisit that one a little bit.Haters on that team?I think that's before he gets there.
47:05Yeah, he's a brewer.22, Houston. What the hell?Everyone was focused on the other side of the ball there, Pop.Okay, quick search, because why not have fun with it?Ryan Presley, your guy, he went nuts that postseason.Oh, my gosh, yeah, yeah, yeah.I guess Montero of Brayu.
47:21Okay, I'll dig into that. We're going to have a lot of time to dig into that.Let's do some final, final, final thoughts. And it's brought to by Best Western.Best Western people, they've been bringing it all year. And you know them. They're Best Western. They have 4,000 hotels worldwide.
47:39Whether you're hitting the road, traveling for work, or chasing the next big game, there's always a room waiting for you.But a good stay isn't just about rest. It's about what comes next. So, I mean, if you need, it's not just recharge. It's setting the tone. It's an early wake-up.It's the late-night arrival.
47:56The last-minute change of plans, Best Western gets it.Traveling is not one-size-fits-all.It's for the planners, the procrastinators, the loyalty point collectors, the I-Jest book-de-crowed.So whether you're traveling solo with your friends or with the entire roster, Best Western has you covered.Pack your bag, queue up the playlist, hit the road.Life's a trip.Make the most of it.Book-Direct and save at bestwestern.com.
48:22Trev?I got a couple things.Play perfect.Yeah, I got you. When I'm talking about, and I do really want to have this conversation, and maybe I save it for like an off-season episode, but in my head it's just here right now.Like analytically driven teams, I just, I think hitting wise,
48:43it's just not there yet. There are some things that you can do,some things that you can tell people to do,but it's still very, it's such a reactionary part of the gamemore take all right dude like i get it like uh my swing path needs to be here and it's optimal but likesometimes i can't get to that optimal part because i'm not feeling great or this pitcher i don't see himwell whatever the reason is so like there's information to take from that and i get it pitching on theother hand that is where i think teams will look at the brewers and the rays too and look like there
49:15are very tangible things that you can you can take information quickly and make it translate to a game ithink that's where we've seen the biggest difference in organizations as far as the analyticalage is who's been able to reap the benefits of it for their pitching. Some organizationshave done a fantastic job and I guarantee the teams that have been on these runs like thesewinning seasons all know how to use that information the correct way. Pitching you can absolutelyuse that to your advantage. I think hitting is still it's a very much a gray area whereagain, it's a reactionary part of the game. The brewers do it very, very well.
49:55You mentioned the guys that have come over, the things that they've been able to do.It's awesome.Dalton also hit me up with what the brewers werewhen they allowed four runs or fewer during the year.First of all, they did that 113 times this year.Just like your old twins teams, right? That's the most in Major League Baseball.
50:15That's me and don't say that.I have respect for my pitchers sometimes.89 wins.Yeah.In those 113 games,so that's 89 and 24,it's a 78 winning percentage.And they carried that over.
50:30Put another 11 and 2 on to that.So we're talking 126.Pretty good. That's kind of the pitching thing I wanted to get out there, I guess.Yeah, I hope the biggest take.takeaways like you're saying, because even the teams, if you're overthinking defense, they still know if a guy is a good defense.Like, that's the defensive analytics for me that's comical.
50:57Like, there's no players, well, I guess my team had some shortstop issues in previous years. But there's not a lot of players that, like, there's a team being like, he's an all-worlddefender.Like, you can't say, like, people have eyes. That I think defense is closer to our thumbs up test that we try to get in the margins a littlemore, but there hasn't been a, I guess, Louisa Rize this year, kind of was a story of like the flip fully switch, Ron Washington. That doesn't do it. That's just practice. Right, exactly. That's, that's Ron Washington.
51:30Correct. That I think if you can't pitch with the Brewers, the Dodd, like the kind of thefinal four teams out there that made it to Cleveland, my Yankees deserve credit, like, there's, there's about a list of eight teams that can tap into guys and all.also, you know, some of the big teams that can sign guys.If you can't pitch with them, you don't have a chance. And some of those teams are smaller market teams that have figured it out.I guess I hope my biggest takeaway that we take an exhale in three years.Every baseball player, except maybe if you're Yordon Alvarez,
52:05or if you're someone of that ilk, you need different swings in your bag.And that's kind of what you were saying a little bit.But the fact that we sprinted away from two-strike approaches, and analytics teams saying, well, no, you want to get your best swing off.The sport doesn't work like that.Sometimes you got to foul off the nasty two-strike pitch, and then they might hang that slider, and you might take a good two-strike swing,
52:32and it might get out of the park.Like, the fact that we went so far away from that,I hope there's some, I'm saying geek in a derogatory way here,I hope there's some geek punching sand right nowthat's saying he's not right. Why does he have a microphone?do people like, I'm right, Pop.You need different swings to get through this game unless you're the 1% of the 1%.
52:55And guess what?Yoron Alvarez has other swings. He just uses that good one a lot because he's a freak. But like, look at the guys who are playing for the Brewers.Nuts.I love how you say Brewers right there.Look, I've been preaching that. How many, you got to have more than one club in the bag.
53:14I've been saying it for years because it's just the truth. It's like, like you said, there is no other, if there's one time where you can say definitively something, it's that. It's like you're just not going to have it all the time. It's nuts. You can do it in the cage, though. It's common baseball.A lot of 530 hitters out there have an A-swing.Like, I hope every owner kicks off their team's winter meetings with, okay,
53:47How come we're not the Brewers? Can I tell you, we used to highlight,I call games for the Minnesota Twins,we used to highlight every time Ryan Jefferswould come up with two strikesbecause he spreads out and chokes up.Look at this two strike approach. It's so uncommon that you pointed out when you see it.
54:04That's crazy.I mean, Pat Murphy was literally benching guys. The fact this works makes me so happy for the sport.Yeah.It truly does, because I need teams to copy this.I hope it starts spreading like wildfireThere should beOkay, I want to give another note there
54:23Because IThe other part of that isIt's not easyIt's not like these are special playersLike I don't want to take awayBut that's what the Brewers went outThey got Sal FreelLike Sal Freelik's a freak dude
54:37I know I jokingly saidWhat's the difference between me and him?A lotSo muchGo watch his high school football tapeInsaneI got I mean you got to send that to meRob, you might be able to find it quick.
54:50He drops back at quarterback, and you're wondering like,oh, is this going to be a pass?He takes off scrambling, and you're like, oh, okay, that's going to be 15.And go, oh, my God, he's going to the house. And that MF, I don't know what Sal's listed at,but 5-8 might be too high.
55:07Okay.That, like, Bryce Terang has turned into a freak of the game. These guys are all studs.Part of the reason they were brought inwas because the Brewers saw that they could play defenseand they could be athleticand they could make plays and they could learn different swings.Otherwise, they wouldn't be with the team.
55:27I've said it now a couple of times this off season. It's postseason, excuse me.Oh, now we're getting the football up.I got to see it.Let's go. Here we go.Okay, so he's currently out of frame. There he goes. There's quarterback.
55:39Okay, that's going to be a first down.See ya.Turn the juice.See ya.That's the guy in right field who Pat Murphy said,Hey, keep your resume on tap because you're probably not going to stick around in the majors.Only a 3-1-4?I, Trev, you're actually going to love this.
56:00I had a low moment in the live stream lounge today because we had like 10 people there. And I don't know. We're just being the dumbest of dumb boys. And I was like, hey, who here was like actually good at school when you went to school? And like everyone raised their hands because Rob did me and Rob did not.But like everyone else, I was like, God damn it.Fucked up.I had one unruly freshman semester that ruined my perfect GPA stuff.
56:29I mean, my parents got divorced.I was just being a menace.RCD baseball.Things worked out for you.Stanford guy still.I don't know.I don't even know where we go, Coach.I was going to say, like, look, my whole like theory of where,
56:46like you can go get speed and these defenders and you can kind of teach them at a hit.I don't think you can do it the other way where you just have boppers and teach those guysout of field. There's a little bit of that. But in the end, this is, I've actually never liked this theory, like draft theory ofjust draft the best athlete. To me, I'm like, I don't really like that. But you're starting to see, like, the Brewers kind of like did that.
57:10Like, no matter size or shape, draft the best athlete. You want to know the answer, dog?it's somewhere in between. Some guys are good at play in this sportand they're not the most athletic. Some guys are athletic.Let's teach him the sport a little bit. It's a blend.
57:26These guys kind of had everything.Like Garrett Mitchell is like one of the last guysyou mentioned on the Brewers. He's an absolute freak specimen.Yes.And he gets subbed out for defense, even though he would be the best defendermy team seen in center in a decade.
57:43Luis Laura barely played in this.He was a defensive sub in the ninth inning.Trev, I want to say their names because, again, what I think is a historic bullpen,McGill, Uribe, Ashby, Senzatello, Romero, Hall, Harrison, Droghan, Woodruff, and Dustin May.And we've highlighted a lot of guys.I think my last two snaps are Jacob Mizorowski, whose whole season. That's what his manager called him four.Forest Gumplek, not the most complimentary way.
58:18Forrest Gump like.250Ks, a sub 2ERA win in the clinching game of the World Series.Last MLB pitcher to do that was Sandy Kofax. Not bad, pal.I think my last one is William Contreras. You mentioned these Venezuelan guys.Truroio, Churio, like he had his hand in the MVP case.He just kind of gets beat out by his Venezuelan brother.
58:42I mentioned that Senzatella, he was on that team too.381 batting average. The ABS stuff that you're right,we will have fake nerds telling us that, you know, that postseason run changed the whole series. They would have lost to Tampa.Four caught stealings. He could have won the CS MVP.
59:02He just got beat out by Bowers.I think an early thing I put in our binderis I think we haven't been measuring catchers right for yearsbecause there's something to get in behind that dish and doing it,and I think he's Exhibit A.Okay, I like that. I agree. The whole like framing system to me never made sense. He's like, who's behind the plate? I don't know. You could have some without the ability to challenge and you just have like it's run. Do you get lucky with the umpires your face or do you have a pitching a pitching staff that puts the ball around the plate enough to get these guys to bite? So now that we have the ABS. I think we're going to be seeing guys win gold gloves because of ABS challenges. It'll have nothing to do with.throwing runners out or blocking balls. You'll still have to do that a little bit.
59:50I think the guys that run away and are the bestand produce the most flip counts or strikes will win gold gloves.Because tell me what affects the game more than that.Nothing.So, yeah, I mean, I can't wait to find out, like, what the strategies are going to be next year. You know, we'll get more numbers on who was the best.I know he challenged the most and won the most this year.Yeah, it's very, very excited for him to win this award, win the World Series.
01:00:22That's his bro right there, Wilson, awesome.Awesome.Waring his kid, bro's jersey. That's, that's, yeah, really cool.I mean, what a story for that family.I mean, we had the Molina bros, now we got the Contreras, bro. That's a lot of fun.Yeah, you know, 2.9B war this year.
01:00:42I'll take the over.I'll take the over on whatever that number thinks it is.I bet all the Venezuelan brothers. We got the Acuna bros, the Contreras bros.Who else is there?Venezuela was playing ball.I know we had some political stuff going on this year, but I like the baseball that's going on.
01:01:01Talk about that.Yeah, well, I have everyone here. You look like a political commentary.Hey, we're going to bring a lot of good stuff to Venezuela.Venezuela.God, he's got a team option for 15.5 mil next year.I'm going to tell you they pick that up.And he's in one of the most famous talking baseball trades, man.
01:01:28Sean Murphy went to the Braves to lock up their catching position.Estuary Ruiz went to the athletics. And somehow William Contreras ended up on the Brewers with Joel Pyeamps. So, crazy. Was Jake Bowers in that trade as well?Bowers was not in that trade. What trade was he in?He's in a bunch of them, dude.
01:01:52And you're right.Like that catch he made today, that gets overlooked.Yeah, you know what?He did not perform with the stick in the World Series. We kind of forgot about him.But getting the Rewers to the World Series was Jake Bowers.Hey, Jake Bowers, who also wasn't listed as like a defensive player.I think he's put in that Brewer's work.
01:02:14Maybe I'll make a shirt. That double down the line and that Hamilton throw. If you're overstretched at first base, that ball's, where's that ball end up?And where does the game go?If that double gets down the line, like, yeah, I don't know.We have hit the point where I think, actually, you know what, Treve, I lied.I know we're a little over an hour.
01:02:32I don't care.Know where I want to end it?Christian Yellich.Hadn't he even mentioned his name yet?Talk about your guy.I think if anybody knows him at all, or even if you just heard him talk,he's just a stand-up dude.Like, he is the captain for a reason.
01:02:54He just, he shuts up and puts the work in.Very confident, but we'll never let you know it.And yeah, I don't know.Like, I've just, I've had the pleasure of getting to know him very well over the last decade or so.and kind of like watching him turn into a captain, now a World Series champion, and nobody deserves it more than him.Like he has put all the work in.He won an MVP.
01:03:21He got a bag.He got a bag, okay?A lot of people shut it down after that, man, and they kind of just go through the motions. When he got hurt and like his back started messing around, like, you could shut it down real easy.Never once was that a thought for him.He kept putting in the work, putting in the work.Young guys coming up and taking his position from him.him and the playing time wasn't the same as it had always been doesn't care he's a mentor he's a guy he's
01:03:46the captain look i know he's got to be there because he's making money but he's not he's not like aa lug or a you know holding them back from winning he's literally hitting third for them in theworld series still like he's i don't know man he's a fantastic person and i think you know i feellike both of us are lucky that we get to call him a friendit's, you're obviously closer with him.You know I'm going back to Cali days. But yeah, man, every step of the way he's been cool with us in almost a not cool way.And I'm saying that complimentary.
01:04:25Like he's, you know, he's never looked at anything we've done as like too cool for school.Or like, what? You guys want to do like a trivia video or something like that?Like none of that energy at all.Like when we went and played Blitzball on Milwaukee's field a couple years back,he just stood and watched.Like all the players, the whole building cleared up, but Yeli was like, I don't know, Trev's here, the fellas are here.He helped Chris Rose get an April Fool's on Trev.
01:04:50Oh, he did do that.On a fake trade.Yeah, I remember that.I like that.He also came on sequence when I was doing that back in the day and gave me just a, you know, like two hours of his time, man.Just like sat down at the end. He's like, was that all right, man?Like, did I do a good job?
01:05:08I'm like, dude, thank you so much.he gave me a viral clip from thatthe Barry Bond's drill clipLike still like to this dayI get I get that in my inbox all the timeI don't know manHe's umHe's gone from young pup on the Marlins
01:05:23To captain of a world series teamIt's awesome it's really greatDude that's that that bridges different parts of my lifeThat's when I remember seeing Christian YelichAnd they're like yeah he's his Uber talented guy with the MarlinsAnd you see stats and you're like okayLooks like looks like the kid can playthe brewers bring him in.
01:05:40A, they helped turn him into another level player, an MVP player. They, the small market brewers, they decide to give a lot of money to him to be their guy. He's been their guy.And yeah, in his brewer years retooling from, you know,he got hurt and he kind of became an on-base guybecause that's what he could do to finding his power stroke again,to grinding through this year that, you know,
01:06:03the brewers, they're not dumb.Like, they made him the captain for, reason because he resembles everything they want.We haven't taught Rays at all.Did we do any of that?I don't think so, big guy.Not yet.Rays will get to you.
01:06:21We're going to have more episodes coming. And I don't know what they want to hear right now.Like you guys, you guys were outgunned a little bit.I know there's a couple games you're going to look back at and be like, I wish wewould have had it.But I don't know.I feel like Rays fans knew the result as of the fifth inning a couple days.ago.
01:06:43All right.I think we havelike time off.Now we don't.We'll be back. We'll be back.I think we're going to actuallykind of get it in
01:06:51before the lockout December 1st.So,hey, Pat Murphy,I know we mentioned himand everything he did.The Adonacios, who own the Brewers, like they go the next
01:07:01step with everything they doand the fact that it's paid offis unreal. And I think a blessing for the sportand I'm not a personthat talks in blessings.but like my God, I hope Brewer's ball catches, and I think it's going to, and how to run a team.
01:07:18Because they said this couldn't exist. The people of Milwaukee didn't think they were going to see a World Series, Trevor.Like the faces on those people in the crowd, they didn't think they were ever going to see this. They had a couple rough years in the playoffs, man.Thinking back to the Devin Williams ball, getting swept by the Dodgers last yearand scoring four total runs.
01:07:41So, yeah, I mean, look, it had been rough in the postseason for them, and now they can sit back, drink all the beer they want, baby.Oh.Trev, a shout out to you, the King of Calabasas, bring it every day here.Baseball today. You're a grinder.I don't care what Smolt says.I think you can talk ball with anyone.
01:08:06I love you. You're my guy guy.a shout-out Dalton Feeley. How about the big guy this year?I mean, every day we step in front of a micand we talk about something,it comes through Dalton, and we trust him with our lives, basically.
01:08:23Like, if Tom Feeley put in a,Sal Stewart went seven for seven today,we'd be like, holy shit.Hell of a game, Sal.Daltz made some strides. He's becoming close to a man, Coach.Have you seen it?You've seen the hairs?
01:08:37getting, he's walking a little taller.I think there's a new apartment coming soon.Dahl, you're the best. And Bobby Golfs, Rob Chiracco, producer extraordinaire, who kind of organizes the whole zoowith us when I'm being Hollywood, when Trev's being New York City, and everything inbetween the technology stuff you've brought to this show has made us.Like, I don't know, we used to kind of laugh that we're like the number one show, and now we'rethe number one show.
01:09:06And everyone that knows Bobby and Dalton knows how important they are to Johnboy Media and everything we do.So I think that's about it.Love you, Big Dog.You know, you're awesome too, Jake.We love you.Nobody grinds harder at the company than that guy right there. In the gym, baby.Let's do it all again.
01:09:31Live streams.Showing up.Let's freaking do it again.CBA.For us.2019.six, seven.Still number one.
01:09:45I don't know, Smolte.Come on with it.Whoever wants it.Come on, we're here.
