NLDS Gives Game of the Year!
00:01Hello and welcome to talking baseball. The Padre stave off elimination. The Dodgers take one step towards the three-pe.And guess what?We got four games tomorrow for the last time all year.Let's talk off.Jamie Moyer.Oh, shit.
00:23Broly Bonas. To ground out to first.Yeah, maybe. It's a ground out to first. That's just what he did.Hello and welcome to talking baseball. It's presented by Fanatic Sports and Gas.If you're logging in your baseball bets, Fanatic Sports and Casino is the place to do it.
00:39Winning hits different here.I'm Jake Sorrelli. That is Trevor Plouffe.Rob Chiraco is producing.Dalton Feeley's getting more and more info for us.So we can be slightly informed.Well, we have some fun tonight, everyone. It's 1.16 a.m. on the East Coast.
00:56And we just watched San Diego survive against those mighty Milwaukee Brewers. And then the soup de jour, Chris Sale versus Yamamoto, and not to give away too much, but the bad man did the bad thing again.Well, times like three, but Trev, how are you?Okay, okay.I'm doing great, Jackie Boy.It's nice watching two games and kind of lock in on them.
01:26Tomorrow, we got four.Little, you know, foreshadowing. We've got four ball games to watch tomorrow.A couple good ones today.I can't wait to talk to you.about this Brewers Padres games. The things the Padres were going through in their bullpen, what the heck is going on?
01:42How was that night? How did we not even know any of that was even a possibility?By the way, there's another one coming.Yeah.Possibly for your team.I know who you're talking about.Holy schnikes.Yeah.
01:56People.Nine months.Yeah, baseball players.Trev, talk to your ball players right now.We can't be having.sex January, February, people.We can't be doing that.I don't know, Trev.
02:11Because have you seen what the White Sox have been talking about?I think you, I think, okay, hold on.Let me pull that back. You can. It's just kind of the end.It needs to change.Timing is everything in baseball.Wow.
02:29Yeah, I don't know. Not going to be a lot of White Sox on this, although we'll tee up tomorrow at the end.but, Trev, I think you pop the bag open on their tea levels, and now it's just out in the streets, like every interview they're doing, they're calling themselves idiots now, like they are freaks up off the leash.
02:49People are telling me this,or whatever they're doing is for the bidet for Murakami.Yeah.Which is hilarious because every team that gets a Japanese playergets a bidet and it's like the Americans first time.freaking get cultured America and figure out the Japanese toilet situation.I already told you guys about it when I came back from Japan last year.So is either way, either way is the fist of ball sack?
03:18I think it's a, yeah.So either way, like it's not.Yeah, that's water though.This is water.Okay.Oh, all right.We'll cover some culture.Usually pop culture.
03:33I almost turned on an episode of the Gingley Squad today because I was out of podcast, and then I was like, no, it's October. You shouldn't do that because you're going to get, you're going to get into it.Oh, and then I'm that guy.Well, you can be that guy.You can be that guy.Yeah.Okay.
03:49Your page on hand.Another free ad for them. Can't wait.Cross pass with them.Trev, let's talk some ball.We decided this one's fresh off the press. They're two West Coast amazing teams that we're just going to roll into, uh, Sandyfacing Milwaukee,
04:06down the five.Beautiful San Diego.San Diego,facing elimination,and when I say I need you,you say,Pavetta,full pension Piv,
04:22taking the pill, while Dustin may send the Brewersto the NLCS,bottom three,I feel like many.Machado, RBI single, him and Nando.Driving the first two runs,
04:35it's two.Nothing, Padres, but then it's the year of Venezuela coach. Contreras and Truroio.Never had it. It's a tied game at twos, but bottom five, oh, the crown zone.Solo, dolo, it's a three to two game as Jake Rakes, and then Bogartz jumps over the ball, young Cooper Pratt throws it away.A little bit of fortitude to make the score fortitude, and they needed it.Because the captain, not number two, Yelly.RBI single, it's a four to three game.We got action on the bases late.
05:16Every inning, the brewers are relentless. But my king, Mike King, Povetta to Adam, to Matsui, to Bradley, to Mike King,Padres, hold on to take game three, four, three final.I feel like you were going to start out with a bang thereand you held off a joke, that's fine.I understand that.I had a couple routes I could have gone. Also, this game just finished,
05:46so it's not like I have a lot of time to,I was going to say it.I was going to say a made-up word, eloquess over it, and that's just not a word. And it's pretty late.So what people in on your creative process, okay, that's yours.Thank you.
05:59Thanks, Big Daddy.I have no idea where we start here.I thought this was, there was some of the best, baseball we've seen.Contreras was trying to take over the game hopping out behind the plate, throwing guys out, great at bats.
06:20Jackson Merrill out there in Centerfield first play of the fucking Gans Palms one. What are we doing with that?Jackson on Jackson.Yeah.Two young ins going out and getting it right here. When he made this catch,I was like, wait, did that just hit him in the heel and somehow stuck in his glove?
06:37Interesting.I had no idea that there was even a possibility that Mason Miller was going on the protruding list. Was that just like closed? Nobody knew because I didn't see that reported whatsoever anywhere until it happened. It's tough. We should have known that yesterday, right?Ryan Cohen, who's our San Diego guy, he wasn't shocked.Like, I think even he said at some point he was like Mason Miller was hoping that they were in San Diego when it was happening because otherwise he would have to fly to him.So I guess it was out there.
07:07It's one of those weird Ryan Cohen things that he's like part of the fabric of the franchise somehow that sometimes he knows more than like other people. It's true. You know this.I know.Gosh.I was defending him on freaking Twitter today. Some guys were calling him out for being a fake fan.I was like,
07:22listen, unfortunately, he's real. He's a freak.I'd like to think if he knew, I'd like to think that it was kind of out there. Also, if he knew, why didn't we know? It's a great point.Hey, Ryan, get your priority straight.Yeah.You're right.
07:36I honestly there so much happened in this game Jake I feel like me like almost cronpot it and go from there or maybe that's too long because so many things went down.Maybe we just hit the big moments. What do you want to go with this big?It felt it felt like three games. It was a long game.I mean, where did it finish like three three and a half, three 45?Again, I guess we just live in a different world of baseball where that feels crazy.I would say Dustin May and Paveta.
08:06start this game, which both guys have a little bit of question marks, not really their talent, that Povetta came out.He looked pretty sharp.May was looking really sharp until kind of his first time getting into the stretch, which is a common pitcher thing, pitcherality sometimes, and a little bit of Padres. And Trev, like you mentioned, the baseball being good in this series, like you got a lot of guys that can run.
08:32You got a lot of guys that are willing to...do try to do what is right in the baseball game.I mean, the guys on the Padres jump out.I mean, Samad Taylor and Dustin Harris, whatever the situation gives them, that's their job.Like, yeah, Nando comes up.I mean, and he's probably one of the Padres that had one of the lesser nights tonight. He got a lot of pitches to hit that he kind of offered poorly at.But we know how the Brewers play.
08:59And I think that's what you're alluding to that we were getting a little hot before we jumped on the mics.that like this style of baseball can still be played.Like, okay, the bullpen playoff baseball, you can't do that every day.Like you need starters to eat innings. You need your bullpen to rotate. You need bodies.Like the way we're pitching these games is very different. The way teams play these games, like, this is Brewer Baseball.
09:23The Padres are maybe tweaking it a little bit for the situation. But that's why both these teams are matched up so well.Turns out if you have a complete roster, they can hit homers, run the bases, play defense, pitch, and close games out, you're probablygoing to be a good baseball team.Analytics, baby.Old school, like, I can't stand right now.I just told you before we got into this.
09:48I can't stand the heavy analytical side and I can't stand the old school baseball players.Like, I just told you, and I'm going to say to everyone, none of these guys know ball. It's the people that meet in the middle that know ball. And that's the truth. It is.If you're on one side of this, you don't know ball.that's the truth.Neither extreme works.
10:08Well, the brewers are veryanalytically driven and they alsoplay a form of old school baseball when they'removing runners and they're not relying onthe long ball to score runs. Both things can be true and we need to work together.Look at this. See my hands?Wow.
10:24That's the problem with this country. We just can't be doing this in February and January.I think where we jump to.How do we even get there? You got one.Don't get me fired up.I'll get you fired up.You know I will.
10:36I would say San Diego jumps out to a lead, which they needed.Elimination game at home.Petco's rocking again. They do that in the bottom of the third.Like half the team gets involved.Literally on the sheet, it's Taylor, Croninworth, Tatis, Merrill Machado, and France are all involved in that inning. And then in the top of the fourth, the answer back inning, which we talk about the importance of that.William Contreras, homers on a two-two pitch that, I mean, it looked like.
11:03like he either cranked a foul ball or what happened. He just kind of pimped it because he crushed it.And then they end up tying the game that it's 2-2.And man, this game, like you're saying,we get the starting pitchers out.And it's the reliever. This is kind of the first time I feel like we felt true playoff baseball.Like teams are seeing relievers for another time.
11:25Like your party trick has been revealed.Adam comes out.He doesn't look super sharp in this.Matsui has high and low moments.for San Diego.Same with Jojo Romero out of the pen.I guess the next thing for me, after, well, no,we have to talk about the Brewer's sack fly, dude,
11:45because Cherio hits one that looks like the pitcher executed his pitchand isn't deep enough to shallow left field.Harris gets there, and then, you know, all of us baseball losers end up checking savant afterwardsbecause we're like, wait, how fast is Pratt and what's Harris's arm?Because Trev, that's in a playoff game. That's a tough look.Well, I mean, look, we talked about all year long about outfield arms and when the guy,
12:15this is a common theme around some of these plays.Like, that's why I think teams bunted more this year because teams aren't defending the bunt. They're not working on it ever.Outfielders don't throw that off in either. So I am always down to test an outfielder's arm.So Harris here is going. He's moving to his left. He's coming in on the ball, but he's moving towards like his glove side.
12:35So if you're going to catch the ball over there, that means, like, you're running that way. You're running away from the way you have to throw. So, like, he's still got to get his shoulders back, and then you got to make a perfect, accurate throw.Like, I think in a pressure situation that this clearly is, like, there's a little bit of, you know, extra juice running. So, like, things aren't as easy in the playoffs.and I think it's right to test these guysand make them make a play.I don't think this was that big of a deal
13:09when it happened.I understand he wasn't too far awayand that's a pretty easy throw. But like, think about the moment.Think about where we're atand like what this means. You know, like it's,it's not an easy play to play,
13:23easy play to make if you kind of like put everything kind of together.Yeah, I mean, Prack can really run.I think he's listed 91st percentile, which again, sometimes that can throw you off. He can run. He's young. He's an athlete.Harris doesn't have the greatest arm strength that they were debating on the broadcast.Should Merrill come get that ball? I think it's a conversation. I think not a lot of outfielders arereally wired that way. And there was a moment in the stadium like the pitcher won. Like that's too
13:52shallow. He's probably not going to tag up that, yeah, it was a ballsy call by the Brewers. But when you do break it down, it is a little less ballsy with Pratt Speed. And Harris's arm strengthand in experience.I think at the major league level, he's only played. He had 28 regular season starts and left field in his career.Like, okay, I don't, not the worst time to take a chance. And you're going over that pre-game, pre-series,talking about, okay, we'll be aggressive on this play,
14:21on this guy in this situation. So you know, like, Tatee, you're not running on him right therebecause that's just, it's a red flag.Merrill, dude, Merrill's got a crazy arm too. It's like so you know, especially the third base coach. So you tell all the players, but that's really the third base coach's job right there.Okay.He gets in your ear, yes, yes, yes, no, no, no.
14:40Fake, whatever it is.So he's got to know. And yeah, you're your game planning for all of this stuff.Yeah.So that ties the game, which I think is the first San Diego kind of a oh moment or like, what?Okay, it's a tie game again. And then it's instantly neutralized Cronenworth who, you know, had a brutal offensive season.
15:03First pitch slider, Jojo Romero, and he gets all of it, fat part of the bat. You're wondering if it's going to get close to the wall, but it clears by a little bit, puts them right back on top, huge for him,a well-beloved guy on that team in that cityafter having a really tough year that puts them on top.
15:23And then that sixth inning, which ends up being the deciding run.And hey, man, I, you know, I know sometimes we fight the old heads, sometimes we fight the new heads.I just seen a lot of playoff baseball.I don't fully know what to do with this inning, but basically a broken bat goes through Bogart's legs as he's the base runner. The young shortstop, Cooper Pratt, it's clearly a different play that you see him like look away for a second at Bogart's.he shorts the throw by that uncomfortable amount.Bowers is probably Milwaukee's weakest defender.
16:03Ball leaks away.Bogart scores and that makes it a four to two game.Yeah, it's that play right there.Obviously, a lot of things coming at Pratt. There's Bogart's in front of them. The ball goes through his legs. Then there's the bat.So he's kind of looking at the bat right there.
16:17I don't think he's looking at Bogarts. And what you really want to do there, when your timing gets disrupted like that as you're coming in,you just want one more step.Like he had the shuffle there. One smaller step, another shuffle,a small shuffle towards first base just to gather yourself back into your bodyand get in the position to throw.
16:38And, you know, he's there. He's in the field. So his internal clock was telling him that he didn't have time to do that.I think if you look at the replay,I think he did have time to do that. But when you get put out of your rhythm, just that much, like I don't think he had a good grip on that ball.I don't think it was a forcing grip.
16:54It looked like it was a little too far in his palm as well. And just short-alarmed it just short-armed it just a little bit, man.And Bowers did a good job there, like kind of like keeping it in front of, not in front of him, but like, you know, he got glove on it, really in-between hot for him.And then Bogart's, man, I think that's another aggressive base running play because when he threw that ball, he still hadn't even reached their base.So as soon as he saw it go past Bowers, he just took off.I love that.I think that's what you have to do right there. And yeah, this whole entire series has been, you know, one team taking advantage of an air and it's been so close.
17:36I thought I saw, or they mentioned on the broadcast two things that I wanted to talk about. One, and tell me if I'm wrong, there hasn't been a separation of more than two runs in this series.Oh, I think that's been two runs. There was three run one time. Was there? Was it four one?No, no, no, sorry. It's three one-run games, but yes,
17:56I don't think there's been more than a two-run league.Yeah, and then the other stat I saw, which is fucking wild. They put out on the screen that Milwaukee is 37 and 36in games where the other team scored first. That's insane. That's the most insane stat I've ever heard.Do you see the last team to do that?
18:172014 Twins?Close. The 2000.2009 Yankees were the last team to do that.Last time you had joy in your life. Here we go. We'll land the ship there later.Let's finish out this game, and it's brought to you by National Car Rental.Today's episode is sponsored by National Car Rental.
18:38Have you ever noticed how some people have travel figured out? They're on the fast track, already in the driver's seat while everyone else is still checking in.It feels like they're winning at travel, and it's because they are.Because when you rent with National Car Rental, you show up feeling like a winner before you,you even get to the game. And winners know something great is waiting for them in the on-deck circle like an effortless car rental experience. With Nationals Emerald Club, you skip the counter, choose any vehicle in the Emerald Isle, and go straight to the car you actually want traveling on your own terms.
19:06That means more speed, more choice, and a total control over your trip the way it should feelbecause renting with National isn't just about getting from A to B.It's about arriving like a winner and driving off like one to win at travel, rent today, and national car.com.Trev, now we enter part three of this game, basically, like, okay, Padres go up four to two.We got the final three innings. There's a little bit, there's like whispers in the air, like, you know, how are the,how are the Padres going to get through this game?
19:35Is it going to be, you know, Bradgley to Morahone? Is it going to be, you know, I see a couple starters out there that, you know, you're starting to do the baseball math, and the math gets a little worse when Yelly, the captain.RBI single, three straight two out singles. If that's not Brewer's baseball, then I don't know what it is.To make it a four to three game, Mitchell strikes out to end that inning. And then Mike King comes in, who, again, if you were daydreaming big things for this Padres run.And like we talked about, Mason Miller, a paternity list before the game.
20:14They bring Wandi Peralta on, but they don't want to bring him in the same leverage.not an even swap there, and as much as I love Wandi, that you see Mike King in the pen and you're like, okay, so we're probably give King or the 8th,and then we'll go to Moro Hone from there, enters the rest on one day's work, looks pretty sharp. He gets Tariot, who has been the bad man of this series.
20:37They shut him down today, which he had a couple spots that could have been game changer. But I think that was the first, I don't know.It felt like series on the,the line. Yeah, I mean, you got to shout out David Hamilton pinch hits. They think they strike him outon the check swing, gets the no call there, then ends up getting a base hit the next pitch. And yeah, when Trio came up at that point, you're like, oh, man, here we go again. Like the guy'sgoing to get it done. You almost expect it from him, but Michael King's a dog, ends up getting him
21:08out. And I kind of like searched the internet for like to, if anyone had any information on Mora Ho,I don't know if Ryan Cohen has that.We just call Ryan Cohen right now and ask him what was going on there. Is that saving him for tomorrow? You know, before the game, they talked about,or maybe it was post-game after the Mason Miller thing, but they talked about it.They knew they wanted to go to Mason Miller for six outs.
21:34Do they know they wanted to go to Michael King for six outs here?So I-in-plan-all-al-long.So Craig Stammon, Padre's manager, relief pitcher, crazy.Yeah.Morhone wasn't available in game three due to stickiness.in his shoulder. There's a chance he's available for game four. But yeah, I mean, as.
21:52As you saw at the end of this game,I mean, we had Robbie Ray firing it up in the bullpen. We saw Kinger.Who was the other starting pitcher we saw?Musk Grove.Musk Grove firing up.That's another part of baseball now that just makes me laugh. It's like when these guys start warming up,
22:09they never have their hat on because they're putting the pitch comment.Yeah.Like, they just start warming up and they're throwing with no hat.And it gets me every single time.Like, where's your hat?I have a dream.I have a dream, a reoccurring dreamthat I am like up to bat
22:23and I can't find anything, dude. And then finally like, dude, you don't have all your stuff. You're not batting.Somebody else is going to go up.I'm like, fuck. This is my time. That's awesome.
22:34You don't have, I mean, I truly,like I have that dream once a month.I've definitely had a similar dream to that.I mean, yours is a little more trev-codedif we're being honest.But yeah, there's something to that.Like the, I can do this.It's my time.
22:47to do this. I can't do the, where is it?I'll try to track my dreams better.Okay.Maybe the quickest inning of the game.Abneryribe comes in, one, two, three, three groundouts, which we didn't have any of that.It felt like every count for both teams was three, two, grindy at bats.Like, this felt, this felt like the version of playoff baseball we talk about with high leveragepitchers, relievers that have been seen multiple times, good at bats.
23:14top of the ninth.Bauer strikes out swinging, which obviously looms massive to start the inning.William Contreras. What a bat.Holy crap.Wins a nine, emphasis on that. A nine pitch at bat being down one,
23:31two against King, who again can,he can shape the ball in every direction.Like better than, you know, top tier in every way he can move the ball.Between his four seamer, his sinker, his change-up, his slider, and his sweeper. He was busting out both of those. For Contreras to win, and by the way, he hits a foul ball,
23:53his second of the night that is like, okay, maybe walking this guy is the move.I used to think that Wilson Contreras was the psycho-contreras brother, and I don't, I think they, I think we just, they're just the same.Like, they both have a little bit of psycho in them.I mean, I love it.I love watching both these guys play. When he walked, I mean, yeah, you talk about he won that at bat.
24:18He acted like it.Like, I love the celebration because that was a huge at bat. And, you know, fouling pitches off, taking that last pitch, like everything. It was it was masterful, man.And as I said, like, he really stood out to me.I know he went, I think he went three for four in the box there. But he also threw out a runner. And just the way he was hopping around behind the plate, man.
24:40Like he he looked like like the best player on the field.Yeah, he's he's a player for me that with whether for catchers and what is just the grind of a long season, like I, this guy for who he is right now, I don't care about his season stats.Like, dude, the beating catchers take is nuts.Like I know this.I feel like two speeches we're finally finding our postseason flow.I feel like every postseason we're like the Contreras brothers are wild.Like can you imagine their house growing up?up like that's insane i i literally cannot um and yeah like whether it's a catcher or whether it's
25:19guys that you just know are guys like he's gonna be a problem man um and we've seen like his best seasonsi think when he's at his best he's a like top three top five MVP candidate because there's nota lot of catchers that can do what he can do um that yeah i catcher sometimes it's like oh yeah hehe had a bad two-week stretch because he got three straight balls to his thighand he could barely plant his leg.And you're just like, okay, that's normal.Anyways, Bryce Terang comes up.They pinch run Contreras, which we were debating,
25:53but they bring in your guy Luis Lara.Terang draws a three-two walk.Padres lose their final challenge, which the challenge were entertaining in this game. Both teams losing them early. And then here comes the captain, Christian Yellich, which Padre fans, I mean, are getting sick to.their stomach. They're like, we've watched this game three times. And then Bogart's who, you know,
26:16I know range wise among short stops, he's a guy that gets dinged. But what he does have, when he gets to a ball, he's become pretty sure-handed. And this wasn't a pretty play, man. This wasa postseason play that he makes the double play on it. Kinger lets out a Rye smile at the endof the game. And San Diego can exhale because they get to play one more. Yeah, this Bogart'sBut I think, you know, it is when a ball is coming straight at you, you know, a lot of times you're going to want to sidestep it.But I think knowing the situation there, runner on second base is the tying run.Like you're not letting that ball get by you.And he essentially goes down like a catcher and somehow it just ends up right in the web of his glove.
27:01I think even he was a little bit surprised that happened. Not saying like he was still trying to catch the ball.but number one, I'm making sure it doesn't get past me.Yeah.Ends up catching it running and Yeli is quick, but not that quick. You know, hit the ball hard and off the bat.I thought it was game time single, no doubt. And in the end, the Padres, man, did such a good job answering, you know,
27:25playing real tight baseball. They gave, you know, the crowd, you know, just a great night at that park. And they survive and get the game four, man.A couple stats as we head away from this game.Third straight game, the Padres have scored first. So again, that was another feeling in the air that's normally goodthat was feeling kind of bad.Brewers on the road in October, Coach,
27:52they've lost 12 straight road playoff games. That's jarring.Six and 24.Some crazy numbers there.Again, this can be good and bad. They stranded a lot of runners in the final innings, which Padre fans would spin that the opposite way.Like, they had pressure on us in every inning.
28:15That, yeah, I don't know.Again, this is a little round, and we've said it twice now.But just quality baseball, fun postseason baseball.A couple of those early wild card series,I think if we're being honest baseball fans, you look back and you're like, okay, what was that, really. This is postseasonall three games could have went either way.
28:36Every pitcher that comes out is a real dude.Every guy that comes upnot many guys giving awayat bats in thisseries. It's kind of fun. I mean, Tatisand Truro, ironically, have some of the worstbatting averages in this series. We've seen like a little bit of sloppy play as well,
28:56but it still doesn't feel likebad baseball. It's a good point, if you will. We've seen air is made in this series, but it's still like some of the best baseball we've seen this entire postseason.I just saw that Walker Bueller just had a kid. What do guys?Clean it up.
29:18Clean it up.Walker, you're a vet.Know what this also might be?This also might be some advanced postseason new age analytical strategy of like, hey, we can have you pitch and then we can take you off the roster with the paternity listand then you could come back.Olivia came to me yesterday
29:36Give me a big old hugAnd go, should we have another baby?OkayLet's talk about itIt's 1.45 a.m. over hereI said, I'm down.Let's do it.Light a fire?
29:48You guys have the itch a little bit. You've been wondering for a couple years.Well, our son is not here right now. He's often some Robinson Crusoe type tripthat we're like, what's going on here?So she's missing her baby boy.Give her another.Padres and Brewers are going to play tomorrow.
30:09They will be the final game of the evening, four games tomorrow. We think it's going to be Walker Bueller. It might be Bobby Gasser. They could go opener in bulk. We'll find out.Mason Miller will be there tomorrow.I promise you.If everything went to plan like mommy and baby are good, get your butt to the ballpark.
30:29You can't do a thing.Oh.You don't do a thing.Dads, you don't do a thing.If we're not going to make any childbirthsA pretty wild thing.I'm just to,I don't know.
30:42Experience.My wife just told me the same thing when I explain the situation. She's like, that's great that he was there. You need to be there.Once the baby pops out,you don't do it.I mean,
30:54the other crazy thing here,he's the closer that like,we don't need him until two and a half hours in.So like,as long as he is,he's meeting.that baby. There's got to be a hospital right downtown near the stadium. He could he just,he could have just came over. You'd assume so. I mean, we got, we got San Diego
31:11connections. I'd like to think we got a 15, 10 minute commute. If we can see that babybefore the fifth inning tomorrow. The baby's fine. Maybe we're overstepping. If you're on thebaby and mom are fine, which we're praying for. Right. Love the millers, love Mason. You did the right thing by being there. Now get back to the yard. That'll be the final game tomorrow. We got to hit the first game today. That, again, it feels, it genuinely feels like it was in a different era.And it was maybe, it's one of the postseason games I think I've been most excited about in a long time.
31:50Braves Dodgers, Yamamoto, Sale.No argument here. It's the biggest game of the 2026 season. The Braves threw their sails up and returned to Atlanta to take on the baddest man of them all.Yoshinobu Yamamoto in a crucial game three. We're scoreless in the fourth.Kike, do you love me?Are you riding?
32:18Two run Homer, two nothing Dodgers.Make it three.Frederick Freeman returns to Atlanta.Just like that, a commanding lead.Atlanta would answer with one on a Baldwin groundout, but that's all they'd get after loading the bases.Yoshi was that guy.seven innings pitch one earn run 10k as his lore grows.
32:41Could the Dodgers bullpen hold Tanner gets out Scott free and play the trumpets.Yamamoto to Scott to Diaz, a lot of money on the bump.Dodgers win three one final.Well, hold on.I'm just looking at one thing. You're good.I'll tell the people about Nutrafall.Yeah, tell them.
33:01Because, I mean, we're still waiting. If we get a comeback late, Neutrafal is going to unlock a crazy deal for everyone. But fellas.Every guy in the clubhouse has a routine.Same order.Every time, every day.Nobody gets to October by winging it.Your hair works the same way.
33:17Nutrafol men isn't a hail-marry.It's a routine.And the official hair growth partner of Major League Baseball.Step one, men's two-in-one shampoo and conditioner.Boom.Step two.Men's hair serum.It's lightweight, fast-absorbing, helps improve visible thickness.
33:32Step three, this is the heavy lifting.Four capsules a day with meal. Two formulas.Neutrafall men for visibly fuller hair, and men 50 plus helps you hold on to what you got.All of its physician formulated, clinically tested, 100% drug-free, and the only hair growth supplement, NSF certified for sport.Three steps, same time every day.Give it three to six months and watch what happens.Find the routine built for you at Nutrafall.com slash men.
34:00That's Nutrafall.com slash men, the official hair growth partner of Major League Baseball.Did you find what you were looking for?Yeah, I was just looking at what constitutes a hard hit ball in the big leagues. It's 95 miles an hour or higher. And that brings me, I guess, look, man.Well, one thing I wanted to mention the first couple innings,as we're watching this beautiful, this is the heavyweight bout type of marquee matchup, starting pitching matchup that Rob Manfred keeps saying he wants in the game.
34:27This is it.This is why you were so excited.I mean, I get it.Like, it does make sense.Like, two of these guys, like, it is, it does make it seem like must watch.baseball. The only thing I really had from the first two innings was when Michael HarrisDeuce drags him down to the third baseline and Yoshi goes over there and falls and tripsand whatever and they kept going to him after that and showing his dirty pant leg and I'm like,
35:00when's the last time I saw a picture of a dirty uniform? It was refreshing tosee it's usually a bad omen you're like it just doesn't feel right i think the last time i sawa pitcher have like a dirty uniform like someone was covering home and like fell and his back gotdirty yeah it's just a weird thing i thought about i'm like you just don't see pitchers dirtyanymore that's a crying shame it is maybe maybe there's maybe we need a pitcher that before thegame gets his jersey a little dirty that'd be that feels like peyton toley's fight songmy dad used to say never leave a game with your uniform clean that's not a good game bro i i shouldowe my mom an apology because again think about what i was bringing to the table i used to get filthy
35:47like i was like if i don't if i don't do my best and get filthy on this field i'm not doing a goodjob my mom's like i'm doing your laundry um thank you mom i love you uh big game ithe other thing that should be mentioned trev we talked a little lineup which normally we don't dipshow hey is down to fifth again chris sale and show hey looking a little lost up there that uh yeah he'd neverbatted lower than second in a dodgers postseason lineup i did tell you guys that you cannot go sixfifth was as low as you can go and he did it that's it was really good i like that um i guesslet's go to well dubon robbing freddie's greatAnd Freddie has just like looked locked in this entire postseason.
36:39And shocker, he's Freddie Freeman. He kind of always is a good hitter. But just staying on the ball. This pitch going to the opposite field here, I mean, should have been a homer.Dubon plays it absolutely perfectly. At first I thought he kind of just ran full speed and didn't know where he was.But then if you look at the replay, like he planned this the entire time, like went around it, got to the track, parallel to the wall, jumped up.and it was about as smooth as you can make this play.
37:08Like my first pastor, I was like, oh, my gosh,he just went up, panicked and just caught this. And then you look back like, oh, no, like this entire route was like perfectly executed. And for a guy that can play everywhere, I don't know, man, just like, this is your guy.You love Mauricio DuBahn and you're right about him. He's an absolute stud.Well, yeah, because after this, they move him to shortstop when they need to pinch it for Hassan Kim,who was in there for his.
37:34defense. He has a couple of rough moments. But yeah, the value, I don't need to do it now, but the value between an actualversatile dude who, and Dubon's also like in the middle of their lineup. It's insane what he's turned into as a baseball player, left field, homer and robbery, and then shortstop later.I think for me, again, the marquee, like you said, of Sale and Yamamoto. So Yamoto comes out, and man, even in a couple of those early at bats,or even after that, that bun where he falls on the ground
38:10and you're like, ooh, could we rattle the guy? No.And I just think what's so impressive, it's any pitch in any count at any time. And like, you hear broadcasters talk about that, but it's also the value of his pitches.Like, okay, say you're sitting on the four seamer, nobody touched it today. And it's a casual 97.99.and he can dot it.
38:34And, man, when he drops in that slow curveball,it just feels like he's toying with you. And, yeah, he ends up giving up the one run today. It was one messy inning, bases loaded, one out that they were.Like, you knew that was the chance. You knew that was the chance.Maybe later against the bullpen if you get someone to screw up,but you knew that was the opportunity.
39:01And I don't know, a popular thing, our live stream today like Rangakunya right now he he doesn't have that that fear factor going onit's just one swing away for a guy like that but i agree with you that yeah he hasn't done he hasn'tput the team on his back the way they probably need him to um sale in the fourth i thought there wassomething fishy um he gets through the the lineup the first time strikes out six guys and uhIts first six outs were all strikeouts. And then he goes second time through the order. And there was 12 straight at bats where I thought the Dodgers put up good to great at
39:41bats.The only good one was Show Hay's catcher's interference. The rest of them hit the ball 90 miles an hour harder, 11 out of 12 at bats.So you take out the Show Hey at bat. They just started to square him up and they were not getting fooled on a damn thing. So to me, that's, you know, I get, okay, what did they see? What the hell changed? You can say, hey, great approach by the Dodgers.
40:05It's just, it doesn't work that way.It doesn't work that way.Like, I think they probably saw something.I've been on a team that did see something against sale before, and we raked him becauseof it.I don't know if the Dodgers necessarily had it.It just seems to me like they did because you go through the first time through theorder.
40:24He looks dominant.Second time through the order.they didn't miss a fucking pitch, dude. Not a pitch.I know. It's interesting and you're probably right, right?Like, most times this pops up in baseball.Yeah, I would be fascinated to know because the other thing that's going through my head,
40:43I mean, Sails basically a two-pitch guy.The Dodgers, even through those first six strikeouts were work, like his pitch count was getting up there. They were having good at bats. And then I guess the one thing, that I would just use if this was a law class and I was trying to counter you is theKiki hits a change-up, which is his third pitch.Again, it's 90 miles per hour, so sometimes a bad change-up is just a bad fastball that like,
41:16and maybe Kiki just lives a blessed life because it kind of seems like he does. But that's the only one that I'm like, I just don't know what to do with that.but I don't know what to do with that guy.Because, like, we joked about it during the year. And it's like, is he even on the team? And then it's like, oh, here's October.Don't pitch to that guy.A lot of the times when you have something on a guy,
41:38it might just be like, hey, we know when a fastball's coming. If you know what a fastball is coming, then you know when an off speed pitch is coming.Right.So you can classify the slider and the change of it.It's fine.Like, you just know you're going to have to wait back on it.So that's the biggest difference.
41:53I'm like going through these logs.Andy Paw has single 100 and 102.8.Kyle Tucker lines out. That was 93.4.Kike's Homer.Mookie Betts hits one to Austin Riley, 97.8 off the bat.Freddy Homer's like, you can just go on and on.And it was hard, hard contact through that entire inning right there where they put up all their runs.
42:16Freddie Freeman with another beautiful freaking swing against it just, yeah, man.To me, it seemed like they, I, I,And someone, someone tweeted me that they showed Kiki.I didn't see this on the broadcast. They said they showed Kiki after he had his home or going back in the dugout talking.Yeah.So look, again, my thought process, my thought process on this is they probably had when he was sold in a fastball.Okay.
42:42Okay.It makes sense.Again, I could go on about the brilliance of Yamamoto and maybe Will in a little bit.Dude, let's talk about Kiki, just because the numbers.that showed up on the broadcast, his 17th career postseason home run, I believe that tied himwith Judge, which it's, again, it's just like, Chris Rose tweeted out. He's like, is there everbeen a player that his postseason results, like, do not match his regular season results in thenicest way? And like, I think Kiki would kind of tell you that too. And as I'm raving about
43:19Maricio Dubon, I'm basically looking at, like, his baseball family tree ofLike, Muki Betz is kind of like the baseball god of them.Kike's like the sex pistol of him.Like, Dubon, your kind of neck.Migi Rojas is part of that family tree as he's battling out there. And by the way, makes a great play that he ends up hurting himself on to help save that inning.Yeah, I mean, Tommy Edmund's a disciple of that tree.Like, as we're looking at the Brewers Padres duke it out, it was interesting seeing those guys on the field.
43:50And it's like, I think they matter.this is another just like hilarious thought process you know everyone wants to think they havethe game figured out we mentioned the analytically driven crowd um and the old school crowd how aboutthe dodgers most one of if not the most analytically driven teams in all of baseball likego check out their r and d wing of their organizationMiguel Rojas is batting behind show hey otani wild keika Hernandez like you mentionedhe just shows up for the postseasonand they just accept it as fact
44:26and it works. It's like I love that aspect of baseball. You're never going to figure it out. You're just not.I'm sorry. And it's a beautiful game because of that.Let's get to the Graves bullpen who's awesomeand continues to get the fucking job done.
44:42Yeah, they go dueling Dillon's out the gate.Dodd and Lee look good.A lot of heaters up there.Prince Souter. It's a postseason. He's going to be a,out there. And Rice will look strong as well that, yeah, man, it felt like could they be playinga little possum and, okay, Edwin is coming in for the save. And I know he's been on a heater
45:05recently. Isn't it like, it's like 16 out of 18 or something like that? But still, you're, you see thefirst couple pitches as balls. And even if you know the Edwin Diaz experience, he gets bailed upon a couple pitches. I'm not going to super complain. Actually, I'll be bail them out, but then heit's the lead off double.Yeah, I mean, for a second there,it felt like Braves Magic was going to come through, but then Diaz, I mean, he's still that guy for a reason, you know? It's shocking to have him in this position,
45:36knowing where he was, what, three or four weeks ago. Were you surprised it was him?I was expecting Rokey.Again, Dodgers fans let me know, but, like, I don't know.Look, you're going to ride the hot hand in the postseason.Yeah.And you kind of paid him to be this guy.So if he's back to doing that, I think that he has more experience than anybody else in that bullpen closing out games.
46:00Great career numbers against Atlanta, too.I mean, that's why people think Yamamoto started because he's been better on the road this year.I said, I don't fully know. But, yeah, I guess you can pull at a couple things there.Yeah.I mean, get on the Dodgers, man.I mean, for all the talk and it was, hey, the Braves, you know, pull the rabbit out of their hat, game two. Now they're just so set up in this series. Like the Dodgers went on snatched
46:25one because they have Yamamoto on the mound and Kike Hernandez at the plate. And that's it.Now they're sitting back saying, okay, who's in the driver's seat now? It's, this is why we talkabout the Dodgers. The way we talk about the Dodgers, they, you know, they, they just got it,man. Like they have such a deep, complete roster that they're just trying to get healthy forOctober. And guess what? Besides Shohay, not looking really healthy, they're healthy. They'reYeah, I'm glad Rob played that last playbecause Mookie Betts, one of the best right fielder's to ever play the game, makes a great play at shortstop where Freddie Freeman,
47:02the Hall of Famer, makes a great pick at first base that gets Yostremski, grandson of one of the best players ever, by a half step, that think about everything we saw today, like, okay, if that play doesn't get made, it's three to two,and the winning run is at the plate, which, again, do you just,Sometimes it's how much do you let the baseball gods get involved. And after that play, there were no more baseball gods. The game was over.
47:29The Dodgers take a two-one lead. They've got a chance to end it a little mallee and glass now tomorrow.I mean, that's so Jake and Trev-coded.It hurts a little bit.I got to stop saying coded.I don't know.Yeah, well, I just have ignored it, but okay.Yeah.
47:48No, I'll call myself out on that one. That just can't be happening.Which game is that tomorrow? And I guess that's the next thing. That's game two. It's the big one tomorrow, people.Four games. Our final four game day of the season.
48:07We're buckled up.We'll be live after.Who knows if I'll have a voice for it?Who knows if the Yankees have any more games?Four elimination games.Jeez and biscuits. It's Cleveland, Chicago at 4 p.m.Dodgers, Atlanta at 6, Tampa and the Yankees at 8,
48:25and then Milwaukee, San Diego at 10.Trev, it's time for some playoff predictions.Brought to you by Seat Geek.Who do you think has the best chance to survive tomorrow? And I guess who do you think has the worst chance?I'm Chris Rose.Best chance to survive are the two NL teams, worst chance for the two AL teams.
48:48I think that's a no-brainer to me.I think the Rays and the White Sox can take care of business tomorrow.I feel pretty good about that. And then the two NL teams.I mean, the Padres stole momentum back.I think the Braves are a damn good baseball team that can give the Dodgers fits in different ways.So I'll say two NL teams keep it moving.I don't even know if I really believe that.
49:14They have the best chance, though. My answer may be the exact opposite.Okay.Like a little bit of what we saw today with, you know, the back against the Walls team.Although, I mean, the Yankees at home, the Razor worst lefties, you hear myself talking myself into it.I've been adamant that I don't think Cleveland, I think Cleveland, Chicago White Sox is like a knockoff Milwaukee San Diego.Like I think those teams are pretty evenly matched up.I think Cleveland needs to feel anything good.
49:47And then, yeah, I guess for me, you know, the Brewers, the Brewers and the Padres, it feels like each team's going to have a chance to win it in the ninth inning.Like, these teams are just so closely matched up.And then I'll go old school sports a little bit.Dude, there's just a chance the Dodgers have winning DNA slash they have the best team.Yeah, I agree.Right.I agree with that.
50:09Like Glass now could just go five.Roki could go three.Like, they can roll out the whole damn thing tomorrow and it can be over. Most confident.Jeez.There's no fucking clue.I'm least confident.I'm least confident in my Yankees.
50:29That's sad.I'm most confident in Cleveland.Cleveland's going to get one.Cleveland's going to get one.Oh.Yeah, I don't think Cleveland gets one.I don't.I think we're back at home, south side, white socks.
50:45There's magic there. And Cleveland shot their best two bullets, first two games in Messick andGavin Williams. So I think the White Sox take that one.The Braves, Dodgers Braves, Brewers Padres, I think both these, they're so evenly matched, can't tell.So I'll give that to the team that doesn't want to be eliminated.Great.
51:05And then Razzie Yankees actually forgot that Max Fried was pitching. And you know I love Max Fried.but I think the race just outplay them.I think they do.It is different away from the trop.I get it.Yeah.Yeah.
51:20I don't.It's based on.How many, how many, how many games left in a divisional round,I guess is another question for us,the way to phrase it.How about this? This is blind and dumb,
51:32and I don't know if my soul actually believes in itor if I'm just scared of myself.I think all four series continue.Okay.Yeah, that's like the safest thought in my head right now.I think the Padres forced game five with the brewers and that's it.Man, if they do, that series has been, like, it has a chance to be one of the better division series we've seen.Just talent and chaos and all of it.
52:01So the good news is we get to find out tomorrow. So use code talk in 2026, 10% off your next set of tickets at Siki.go to the game and then tune in to us afterwards.Because as you can hear in our voices, we're excited, we're tired. But this is when the juicy stuff starts. So thank you guys.Oh, thank you guys.Shout out to Trev.
52:26Shout out to Chris Rose.I don't know.He's just inspirational.Peter Moylan.Yeah.Chelsea went here.Yeah, shout out.Jerry Blair.
52:39Evans.Love Jerry.I had an interview about Chris Rose today.Someone called and interviewed me about my experience with Chris Rose. What you said?I said there was at one point from Surf City,I'd basically carry him through the streets of New Jerseyto get him back to his hotel room.
52:58It did his life.Great man.A great man.Both of you.
