My First Time on FOX News BLEW UP!

00:00 Top of my recollection, the only president who has tried to seize a stake in a company like Intel is Donald Trump. Donald Trump has turned us away from affordability. And can we all just condemn the government seizing stakes in companies right now? Can we condemn that? Topic two, here we go. Immigration. I thought you would like that, Adam. Is that more socialist?
00:19 Isn't it helping American people? I already said I'm not a socialist, but you guys can't even condemn the government taking active stakes in people's companies. Donald Trump has taken a stake in Intel. Which one? There's specific stories. In some cases, we're actually saying for the first time. Hey, everybody, Adam Mockler here. I just got done with my first ever Fox News debate. My first time on Fox News at all.
00:40 And going into this, I kept telling myself, play it normal, be cool, do not blow it up or turn it into a big argument live on Fox News. And a big argument live on Fox News is exactly what ended up ensuing because I feel like my opponent, the person I was debating, wasn't engaging or, you. or answering anything I was saying. Neither on the topic of socialism nor immigration was she giving sufficient answers. And if you watch until the end, there's even this awkward moment where the host gives my opponent a chance to respond to what I said, and she has nothing. So it just leads to an awkward pause for a few seconds where she doesn't say anything.
01:19 When I'm going into debates like this, my primary goal is to be persuasive to the audience watching. It's obviously a little bit different than CNN or the videos I do here. because I'm trying to be palatable to the Fox News audience, which oftentimes views liberals as unreasonable or like whiny or we don't have any policies or anything. So I wanted to break that mold. I wanted to show that liberals can be assertive. Liberals can have policies and that Trump is leading to a lot of the destruction that we see modern day. So watch until the end. If you drop a like on this video and subscribe, it means the world.
01:54 It helps it reach more people. And I appreciate all of you. Check this out. Seven days away from midterms, now a Gen Z debate on some of the top issues. Voters are facing. Let's bring in New York Post reporter Lydia Moynihan and YouTuber Adam Mockler. This is going to be very fun here. So you got 45 seconds each to answer.
02:12 The first topic is socialism versus capitalism, you know, free markets versus economic equality. Adam, tell us why socialism is so great. I'm actually not a socialist. I'm a firm liberal capitalist, but I don't think the two things you listed are mutually exclusive. America is the richest and best country in the world. Economic equality or the ability for people to have health care and good education should not be mutually exclusive with entrepreneurialism, small businesses, the ability to have free markets. These two things aren't mutually exclusive. And I reject this idea that Democrats are socialist now. Out of the 259
02:47 sitting Democrats in Congress, two of them are DSA. There's about three or four incoming, but the party by and large supports free markets. Lydia. Yeah, well, I've been kind of alarmed. to see this polling that a growing number of young people in particular like socialism. And it turns out when you actually dig deeper that they like a social safety net. But one thing that I want to point out is that actions speak louder than words. And the beauty of America and federalism is that people can take action and go to the place that they think has the best policy. And so the reality is that there is a net outflow of people from blue states like California,
03:23 trace where you are, or New York, where I am, because the democratic policies that are more that involve a lot more government intervention are actually creating the least affordable conditions. Wait, which president was it that sees stakes in companies? Texas and Florida where people are experiencing lower costs of living. There's lower energy prices. There's cheaper housing. Affordability in action is actually happening in red states. Okay.
03:52 In my recollection, the only president who has seized the stake in a company is Donald Trump. Top of my recollection, the only president who has tried to seize a stake in a company like Intel is Donald Trump. Donald Trump has turned us away from affordability. And can we all just condemn the government seizing stakes in companies right now? Can we condemn that? Topic two, here we go. Immigration. I thought you would like that, Adam.
04:16 Is that more socialist? Isn't it helping American people? I already said I'm not a socialist, but you guys can't even condemn the government taking active stakes in people's companies. Donald Trump has taken a stake in Intel. The government is taking stakes in 35. Intel and video. In some cases, we're actually seeing for the first time. People like Elon Musk are giving a stake of their company to the American people,
04:36 which is kind of an incredible innovation, and that is voluntary. So we have to go through each case. Nobody answered my question. We want to go down that rabbit hole. Or we can. What was your question? I mean, are you guys okay with the government actively taking stakes in companies? You just mentioned government intervention.
04:51 Instead it was bad. There is only one president in U.S. history. I'm a capitalist. Okay, I am too. I think that free markets are good. That's why I don't like the president using his authority to take stakes in companies. Trace, can you say that this happened and it's not good? In the realm of when you're talking about affordability and we're talking about huge issues
05:13 and you're latching onto one thing that Trump has done with this. Again, I don't think it's a capitalist thing. Is Zohran Maudeani even advocating for this? I don't think so. Here we go. Topic two, immigration, border enforcement versus protection. of illegal immigrants in certain areas. Lydia.
05:29 Look, I think it's a very clear distinction here between Republicans and Democrats, as we saw earlier, at the State of the Union. Democrats wouldn't stand up when Trump said, let's prioritize American citizens above illegal immigrants. And that's what this administration is trying to do. They recognize that our borders are what make us a nation and give us sovereignty.
05:50 And they recognize that under Joe Biden, millions of unvetted people, some of whom we know are on the terror watch list, came into this country. So they feel a duty and responsibility to American citizens who elected them to make sure that everyone is vetted and that people are doing this the right way. That's something that Democrats have believed for pretty much forever. And it's really only in the last few years that they're now trying to put Trump in a bind and get in the streets and protest that enforcement of federal law. Adam. I am a border security Democrat.
06:23 I think Joe Biden failed on the border. And I think if people are going to immigrate here, then they should. do it in a legal banner and follow the laws. But all I'd say is that I want ICE to follow the laws as well. There's a Republican appointed judge named Patrick Schiltz who said that ICE violated 100, more than 100 court orders in the first month of this year. I should not be violating the law. Immigrants should not be violating the law. I think that is a reasonable standard that Americans can hold our officials to. Okay. That's it. Great. Okay, very good. Lydia, Adam. Thank you very much. We appreciate the debate.
07:01 All right, now I have a few things to break down. While it's all still fresh in my mind, I want to run through a few moments from that debate because off the rip, the Fox News host assumes that because I am a young Democrat, I must be some sort of communist, socialist, or something like that. The reality is, I believe in Medicare for all. I believe in taxing the rich and redistributing money to people who need it. I believe in very strong workers' rights and social safety nets.
07:26 I believe in many of the models used by successful European, countries to help people. None of that's an opposition to, you know, free markets or a competitive market whatsoever. Many European countries that enjoy a high quality of life like Norway or Sweden or Switzerland have this type of Nordic model that is not contradictory. So no, I'm not like a full-blown communist. I'm not a socialist. I'm somebody who believes in free markets. And I think that's effective messaging for Fox News. And then how I flip it on them is, wait a minute, the only president to ever actively see stakes in companies. Over 30 companies is Donald Trump.
08:01 He is acting like a socialist. And one more thing, networks like Fox News are the ones that have pushed this narrative that, you know, health care and education automatically equals socialism. So Americans see that. They see, oh, health care and education and things like this. Fox News is calling it socialism. Maybe that's not too bad. And then Fox News wonders why Americans are more sympathetic towards socialism.
08:26 It's this weird loop that I realized while I was researching and prepping for this debate. But then we move on to the topic of immigration. And once again, I mean, I know that what I said is going to inevitably anger some people, but I think that my take on immigration was very common sense. There's almost nothing more important than having law enforcement and officials and officers who follow the law. When ICE agents are given all of this power, they need to follow the law. In the same vein, just like President Obama says,
08:56 even Biden said, I think we should incentivize safe legal immigration. We should make the pathway to citizenship easier. We should streamline the process and really reform things. I do not think people should be coming over here in an illegal manner. And if somebody does and they commit a crime that's heinous like murdering somebody, I think you can deport that person who is here illegally. But that's not what ICE is doing. That's not what ICE is focusing on. They are not targeting the worst of the worst. We have seen ICE cracking the ribs of 80-year-old grandmas. We've seen ice tear-gassing cars with a toddler stuck in the car. ICE has killed multiple U.S. citizens and dozens of undocumented people being held in detention centers or on the streets, and there's no accountability.
09:38 So again, when I went into Fox News, my main goal is to be persuasive or to give a framework that can at least break through to the audience. No, I'm not going to like, you know, win a bunch of people over in one moment. but the goal is to introduce the audience to fact patterns they otherwise are not likely to hear. And I think I accomplished that. I think I was able to lay out a framework that is pretty undeniably reasonable. And you see it at the end of that clip. You guys saw it, right? The host leaves space for my opponent to give her take.
10:09 And she doesn't say anything. There is no response whatsoever. So if you made it this far in the video, let me know in the comments. Drop a blue heart. Hit the like button below. I love you all. I'll see you all in the next video. Subscribe and peace off.
