This is the Almost Famous Podcast with IHeartRadio. Hey guys, welcome to Almost Famous OG. I don't have Bob on today, but I do have Sadie Murray and Courtney Robertson. And we are so excited because we're going to be watching charity season of The Bachelorette, the 20th anniversary, I believe, which I mean makes sense because Ryan and I will. have been married for 20 years in December. Anyway, we are watching together.
Starting point is 00:02:34 So come along, watch with us. We're going to be commenting throughout the show. We'll take little pauses and comment on our experiences and what we're thinking about the show. So we would love for you to join us. All right, we're ready to start. Let's go. Aw, she's so cute.
Starting point is 00:02:50 First out of the limo is always a big one. Good hugs. I would take a tennis lesson from him. I'd move to Hawaii. Uh-huh. He's got charisma. Oh, I get why they're doing the gazebo. It's raining.
Starting point is 00:03:07 I feel like the rain has to be good luck, like on your wedding day. Is she going to take the flower off? Let's see. Oh, she did. It's gone. Many hats? Cute. Is this the second doctor?
Starting point is 00:03:30 Yeah, they've got some smart, cute guys. This is so far a good lineup. Oh, wow. That's a look. Oh, he's cute. I like the firefighter. What? Oh my god, stop it.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Okay, body. Adi, a-a-di-a-di. I mean, at least a round off backhand spring. oopsies don't vomit just don't vomit i could see him in paradise having fun totally just with the right tequila okay what's happening i'm not okay with any of this right now yeah that's the most awkward introduction i've ever seen most awkward oh my god stop it he's a wrestler have a good feeling about Doughton. I just got goosebumps. I'm not
Starting point is 00:04:33 lying. Yeah. Aw. Seems really kind-hearted. He seems super I like ability. Ooh. Plot twist. I'm going to throw up.
Starting point is 00:04:51 That's a common sentiment when you're in those shoes. All right, let's pause. All right. girls so that was fun um first of all i need to ask both of you just to set the stage have you guys been watching since your shows since your episodes yes since your seasons pretty much every season since my my season i watched your part of your season back at the day amazing sadie after my season. I have not watched a single full episode in its entirety. Okay, so you don't know who charity is.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Yeah, this is a big deal. I mean, like, I know just from like seeing like headlines and all that and like clips on, you know, Instagram and everything. But no, I feel like I'm a fresh new fan. It's kind of weird. I love it though. I like that, though. She's giving, I've never really had a reason to feel attached and really want to invest the time because it does take up some time, right? Yeah, that's not such a good heart, and I'm really rooting for her. And I just, yeah, I think I'm, I think I'm in. Love it. Well, yay. Okay, so I have to share that, you know, we have a bachelorette text thread with all of the bacheloretts. And last night, Katie texted and said, hey does anyone have charity's number we need to add her to this group text so she was added and
Starting point is 00:06:25 we have since like kind of welcomed her into the bachelorette group and i just love it i think that you're right i think that she has such a good heart and i'm really excited i am always excited for everyone's journeys just because i feel very maternal towards everyone on the show but i feel like she truly does just shine from the inside you know inside out It seems like she is just such a perfect person for this role. I feel like she deserves it. Everyone deserves it. But I feel like I really want her to find her person.
Starting point is 00:06:59 So what did you think of the first part of the first episode? Everyone is so tall. Yes. What's happening? What are these men eating? What is going on? I mean, I'm five too. So this would be like climbing a jungle gym for each one.
Starting point is 00:07:17 But, I mean, she's definitely going to be wearing a lot of heels this season. I hope the stylist is prepared. Oh, speaking of the stylist, Carrie E. Fetman did an amazing job on that dress. I mean, stunner, right? Oh, I love sequence. I love sparkle on the first night. I just think it's just, it's perfect. She's amazing.
Starting point is 00:07:39 And they are so tall. And I'm going back to what you were talking about, Trissa, and she was like, nobody has a manual for this. I was thinking of you because I remember hearing. on a podcast that you guys have this group chat so it's so cool that you can invite her into that and like help her you know along the journey i mean hopefully she doesn't need it she seems like she has a good head on her shoulders and i always kind of reach out to you know anyone i would hope that they feel like they're okay to reach out um i said in a text to the group just that um it's a
Starting point is 00:08:10 safe space you know and if she ever needs us that we're there for her um but i really feel like She has a good head on her shoulders and great family, you know, her cutie pie, little brother or big brother, I guess, because she's the youngest in her in her family. I think just having him there. And I wonder, since we kind of paused there, if he's going to stay, which I would love. Oh, yeah. Oh, I mean, Big Brother Energy puts a man in his place real quick if he is going to be thinking a sister. So I love to see it.
Starting point is 00:08:45 I love it. yes agreed um okay who were like a couple of your favorites i mean what was his name i couldn't you corrected me on it i gave me you guys both said dotten i think he was the last one before the brother came out yes oh yes he just his story his backstory i got goosebumps he's so tall again not to you know repeat but he just they had a good chemistry i could see between them yeah yeah he's special and the music changed when he got there so obvious it's either complete silence or like fun music like it tells the story for sure but i really liked that one guy that was doing backflips what the heck what was his name i what i think it was it joe no maybe it
Starting point is 00:09:35 wasn't joe honestly that's a good guess because i think like two or three are joe i think there's either a lot of joes and johns joey's lots of that um i really like Joey the tennis pro from from Hawaii right even though he was saying he was short I'm like I didn't notice that he was shorter than her you know which I
Starting point is 00:09:56 who cares like you know I guess it depends on the person in the position like maybe charity doesn't care about height but I I think it's funny that he was commenting on how short he was compared to all these guys I know but I didn't think he was short I think those guys gotta be like
Starting point is 00:10:14 6 8 or 6 6 6 6 Like, you know, he was a tall. I loved him. And, like, he just had a very much aloha vibe. I was like, I'll move to Hawaii. Yes. Yeah, he's cute. The firefighter.
Starting point is 00:10:28 The firefighter. The firefighter was very cute. I love a firefighter. I think he wants to go on a magic carpet ride and is doing backflips off of all the things. Yes. The traveling nurse. Yeah, but he wants to. The traveling nurse.
Starting point is 00:10:43 I did love him. What was his name? I can't remember his name. Braden. Okay, I really liked him, too. I love the whole adventure part of his little intro. I will say that we were all kind of having visceral reactions to Spencer. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Yes. What's he doing with the body, otty? No, not him. Spencer, the one that you guys were like, is she going to be on dateline or nightline? Oh, not hot. Spencer creeped me out. I mean, she needs to run from Spencer. You never think that he was just nervous or was that like an act?
Starting point is 00:11:23 I hope so. Honestly, I'm sorry, I can't be nice about this. I cannot be nice. Like, I don't care how nervous you are. That was so weird. And honestly, he was like, punch me, kick me. I know. Like, talk about a weird kid.
Starting point is 00:11:38 It was that sort of thing. He was like everything he said to her was like a question. Like, so do you want to kick me? And she's like, I think I do. I mean, I know. It's weird. It's weird being on a TV show. It's weird with all the cameras and the lights and the whole shebang.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Krista, you're like, he needs to talk faster. I was like, I'm sorry, but I would be like this, like, come on, get to your point. Please. The story has a middle and an end. And I don't have a lot of time here. We got six weeks or ten weeks or whatever it is. wrap it up buddy
Starting point is 00:12:15 and no one I'm sure if you were the vachelorette Sadie I'm sure you would have found that wrap it up let's go I mean I was the runner up so maybe that could have been an option
Starting point is 00:12:31 but they were really like no she's too like let's get this going come on move it on so speaking of I want to know how did you both introduce yourselves do you remember I totally do I think oh I was a long time ago before you so let me jog my memory yeah give you some time you like the you know days leading up to night one you're there in the hotel room and like you know
Starting point is 00:12:58 kerry fat man came by is like what are you think about wearing for night one I was like this dress and he's like the black one dolchen gabana done like but anyway long story short they kind of talk to you about like oh well you know do you want to roll down the hill in a wine barrel my guy was right mind speaker and they kind of talk to you about like do you want like let's talk about it and I was like I was so nervous you guys like I just was like I just want to be bland I just want to come like get the words out like hi I knew I wanted to hug him introduce myself I knew we had an Arizona connection um but yeah I just said hey cutie I'm Courtney like I it was so bland and I felt so shy that like my voice was very little you know yes that's okay
Starting point is 00:13:42 obviously he liked it well I was the last out of the limo too and I asked can it be first or last a little tidbit and they spliced me in but anyway they'll probably take that out I don't know but I was the last wait what do you mean so I was the last one out of the limo like
Starting point is 00:14:00 gotten was so I came into the the mansion and everybody had already been there so yeah I came in last and I was like I'm here and like it just was a thing you know but it was a thing it was kind of a thing i was like late to the party everybody had already been drinking i'm like hi i'm new here but yeah it was very nervous so nervous yeah it can be nervous i can relate i can relate to that i was the last girl out of the limo too and you were
Starting point is 00:14:29 i was yeah but they didn't say anything to me like um do you want to do this do that and i didn't get to wear a Dolce and Gabana dress either, but that's okay. I can go back in time and remember. I brought my own. He was just helping out. Yeah. All right. It was like from Nordstrom's rack, though. It wasn't like full bore. Still, it sounds really great. My dress was like, I think, one of the old prom dresses I had. And I think I looked like, I was trying to be a princess because he was the prince. But I was the last one out. And when they told me I was the last one out, the producer came up to me and said, well, you better think, of you're the last girl out so you better think of something really great to say. Leave a lasting impression.
Starting point is 00:15:13 Right. And I was like, okay, I can do this. I'm going to do this. Here we go. I can do it. So I walked out and I said, hi, I'm Sadie, nice to meet you, blah, blah, blah. And he was like, hi, I'm Lorenzo. And I said, well, it's so great to meet you, but there are a lot of extra women here and
Starting point is 00:15:31 here and I'm thinking a few of them could probably leave if you want to just have it be just me and you or something like that. Like there's like 20 extra gas or whatever it was. I don't even remember. But yeah, it was fun. He liked it. I mean, obviously you both were in the end. I don't even remember where what I did.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Yeah, I was going to ask you, what did you wear? What were you? I was wearing a, oh gosh, what's the brand? It was like a store in the mall. Not BB, but like maybe something like that. Um, it was a black dress with like embroidered red flowers, um, and some ruffles. Oh. Uh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Mm-hmm. I mean, honestly, guys. So, so back in the day, we did not get dressed up like they did. Like, you were like, I love the sequins on the like first night dress. I wore, and it was, I felt like it was gorgeous in my eyes. Like, in my opinion, my dress I loved. It was very low-cut, black, um, like, just beautiful. but it wasn't like sparkly it was it was more yeah it wasn't sparkly it wasn't shiny you know i had a
Starting point is 00:16:42 big diamond on but that was the shiniest thing on me that night um and i feel like nowadays they just really go to the hilt with dressing up like it was not like that i remember my um after the final rose i was in jeans jeans for my after the final rose yeah isn't that crazy and i swear do you and for the men tell all i was in jeans we were jeans like like it when was this again this was like 2000 2000 in 2003 yeah yeah i'm surprised trista that you weren't wearing boots with the fur at that point you know what i'm saying like the apple bottom jeans boots with the oh i was i was wearing something i remember watching you trista i watched you your first when you were on the bachelor and then when you became the bachelor and i just remember thinking you were the coolest and
Starting point is 00:17:34 And yeah, I remember. So it honestly does not matter what you wore because that's not what people remember necessarily at all. It's really, I mean, you just were, you glowed from the inside out for sure. And I see the same thing with charity. So I don't know. She has that. She's just got something really, really special. And I'm actually for the first time, like, in a long time, like really looking forward to her finding, hopefully someone who she will be with forever.
Starting point is 00:18:03 I know. Okay, I can't wait to watch the rest of the show. Be back in a second. Hi, my name is Enya Yumanzoor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency Intercom. If you're a crime junkie and you love crimes, we're not the podcast for you. But if you have unmedicated ADHD... Oh, my God, perfect. And want to hear people with mental illness, psychobabble. Yes, yes. Then Emergency Intercom is the podcast for you.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Open your free IHeartRadio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. I'm Dr. Joy Harden Bradford. And in session 421 of therapy for black girls, I sit down with Dr. Othia and Billy Shaka to explore how our hair connects to our identity, mental health, and the ways we heal. Because I think hair is a complex language system, right? in terms of it can tell how old you are, your marital status, where you're from, you're a spiritual belief. But I think with social media, there's like a hyperfixation and observation of our hair, right?
Starting point is 00:19:14 That this is sometimes the first thing someone sees when we make a post or a reel is how our hair is styled. You talk about the important role hairstyles play in our community, the pressure to always look put together, and how breaking up with perfection can actually free us. Plus, if you're someone who gets anxious about flying, don't miss session 418 with Dr. Angela Neil Barnett, where we dive into managing flight anxiety. Listen to therapy for black girls on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. In sitcoms, when someone has a problem, they just blurt it out and move on. Well, I lost my job and my parakeet is missing. How is your day? But the real world is different. Managing Life's challenge.
Starting point is 00:20:00 challenges can be overwhelming. So what do we do? We get support. The Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Ad Council have mental health resources available for you at loveyourmindtay.org. That's loveyourmindtay.org. See how much further you can go when you take care of your mental health. Have you ever wished for a change but weren't sure how to make it? Maybe you felt stuck in a job, a place, or even a relationship. I'm Emily Tish Sussman and on she pivots, I dive into the inspiring pivots of women who have taken big leaps and their lives. careers. I'm Gretchen Whitmer, Jody Sweeten, Monica Patton, Elaine Welteroff. I'm Jessica Voss. And that's when I was like, I got to go. I don't know how, but that kicked off the pivot of how to
Starting point is 00:20:42 make the transition. Learn how to get comfortable pivoting because your life is going to be full of them. Every episode gets real about the why behind these changes and gives you the inspiration and maybe the push to make your next pivot. Listen to these women and more on She Pivots. Now on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. They are really cute. Oh, he's leaving. That's great.
Starting point is 00:21:14 He'll be listening. I love it. Stop it. Yes. Yes. Yes. I love. Undercover brother
Starting point is 00:21:33 Yes Get her an umbrella I know right Yay, he got one Oh I really liked him too He was the first one With the pink tie Oh and that cowboy wrestler
Starting point is 00:21:52 They are sitting very close together I think they didn't look at each other because they're literally sitting like this. It is cold, see? He's getting the first impression, Rose. Totally. And he's going to get a kiss. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:18 The snuggle, I just got chills. Oh, they're not going to kiss. but they are cute he is just like why did you do this to me mother I mean he's a precious lamb okay I changed my mind
Starting point is 00:22:43 he might get the first impression rose yeah right I don't know I kind of got like a player vibe from him though so I'm hoping I'm wrong they'll like And every game needs a good player, Trista. Don't hate the player, hate the game. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:23:05 She's on a journey. Let her live. That's right. I love this bartender thing. You too. I'm offended. I'm 5'2. I'm analyzing like nobody's business right now.
Starting point is 00:23:24 It was so funny. Okay, I really got to get in there and see it. Yeah. Is their tongue? I don't know. Why pretend? Oh, God, there's the quiet talker. My guy just did a back foot.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Oh, I feel like you guys might feel bad right now. He's going to tell her something. I can't. This guy is so cringed. I know. No, no. No, no. That is not.
Starting point is 00:23:55 all the same. Nope. Nope. All right, guys, let's pause the episode really quick so we can chat a little bit. I just feel like the slow talker part. Like,
Starting point is 00:24:05 I feel like he's taking time to say he's, maybe he's too much in his head because he's thinking I really need to say exactly the right thing. I don't know if that's why he's talking slowly. Because I get that, but I also, if I was in
Starting point is 00:24:25 Charity's shoes, it's just kind of, I don't know, it's kind of bothering me. I'm like, get this guy a latte. This guy, Spencer, I'm sure that he is a great guy for someone else. That's the piecey way of saying this. He, though, might be, like you said, very nervous, naturally, of course. That makes a lot of sense. At the very same time, though, you can tell she has the he-b-g-be. you can see it on her face she's not into it at all she's not as comfortable like you can tell
Starting point is 00:25:01 the guys that she's into because she's sitting right next to him like joey or she's giving him a kiss but this one i don't know that there's that chemistry there she's like well now i will use those martial arts techniques you taught me and i will kick you right on out of here we shall see I said, I kind of have a theory that, you know, so it's kind of what happened to me on Bachelorette. I got rid of a guy who was a cowboy, and I'm allergic to horses. And I told him I was allergic to horses, and he called me superficial. And I was like, uh, it's not actually superficial. It's like who I am.
Starting point is 00:25:43 I'm like, I wouldn't be able to touch you or go to work to see you or like, I'm like, how is that superficial? so I feel like telling them like this is just logistics hello um yeah you're like I don't want to be living on Benadryl this my life exactly um I don't know I mean you get rid of people for all kinds of reasons right and if she's not into him I think the whole reason that you make the decisions that you do is because you're into somebody you feel a connection you feel the chemistry you feel the vibe you you sense the potential right And I just don't know that he will be one of those people that she's thinking that she's going to be... Just like he will not be there.
Starting point is 00:26:27 It is not happening. I cannot... I'm kind of like rooting for the underdog, though. Like, what if like next episode, he makes it today, you know, and what if he, like, shines? And we're like, oh, my God, there he is. Like, wouldn't that be such a good comeback story? I will eat crow then. If this, if it's a comeback story for Spencer, fine.
Starting point is 00:26:48 that's fine I will say I'm sorry I wanted to like fly like come out of your shell just fly you know yeah yeah don't be so nervous don't be so analytical don't analyze every single word
Starting point is 00:27:00 that you're saying and you know movement of your mouth and just be you I think that's the only way this show works is if you are just you yes sincerely you Spencer is not my guy for her
Starting point is 00:27:13 yeah not my guy either so who is your guy who do you think based on what we just saw is going to be get the first impression rose okay i i it's a toss up for me for the first impression rose between joey who's never seen anything with bachelor a bachelor and he was so just all about like how are you feeling are you doing okay holding her in closely like it felt really natural and i really like their dynamic and i felt like that was a really good conversation that she needed to have you know it was like a little therapy session so he really tugged at her emotional
Starting point is 00:27:48 strings but then we got our player Xavier who I mean it's it's between those two because that kiss whoa yeah yeah oh right I did say I think I kind of feel a little player vibes but you know I'm not the one in her position and I'm not actually there so that's just me watching the show I obviously they had an intense kiss and a very long one at that a very long kiss, which is great. Clearly there was chemistry, clearly. Which is great. Which is great for her. That happened either. I mean, just the fact that she has chemistry. Yeah, I would say those two for sure, but I'm also like, I feel like the guy from Hawaii is Joey, right? Yeah, Joey. It's sorry, it takes me a little long with the names, especially on night one and I'm watching with you guys.
Starting point is 00:28:42 But yeah, I liked him a lot. They seemed super comfortable. yeah yeah he seems so sweet and sincere i also like one other guy didn't didn't really think i was going to like it when he brought out the box james when he and he was like i have something from my family for you and i'm thinking oh my god already jewelry so soon sure then it turns out to be a note from his mom so then he lost me but it's pretty sweet and kind but it's also like You don't want to, it's not about your mom, about charity, but that's kind. But I don't think he knew that. I don't think he knew that.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Oh, yeah. He was like, oh my God, cringy, mom, why did you do this to me? But you're right, she needed that donut. Let's say, it's a long night. She needed a donut. Yep. He got me back with the donuts and the cider. That's right.
Starting point is 00:29:37 A man who feeds me has my heart. Totally. Like, let's sober up because I will say she seemed like she was getting a little tipsy Turfee at one of those conversations. That or sleep-deprived. And I don't know about you guys, but the first night, it's like you need to have something in your belly to, like, actually absorb everything, and it's a long freaking night.
Starting point is 00:30:00 So any food. Did I tell you, I think one other time that they kept serving champagne to all of us, and I would hide it. And I would hide Red Bull instead. And then I went to the back and went to the break room where the producers were. were having pizza. And I was like, please, can I have a piece? And so I was like, I'm not going to be. I'm not going to be hungry. Yes. That is genius. That's genius. I mean, honestly, if you can, that's a tip for the first night, like store some food somewhere on your person
Starting point is 00:30:35 or bring a little purse full of snacks. No, my dress had pockets. So all the girls were putting. Yes. the girls were putting bread into my dress and we were giving it to each other like behind the team. You were the breadkeeper. For the listeners, it's just because it's also such a long night of filming. You eat before you go, but you get there right as the sun's going down. So like whatever the time sunset is, like 6.6.30.
Starting point is 00:31:04 But then like we film to like 4 a.m. Well, I think now they film until the morning. There are actually shows recently, I don't know which one, but. I feel like the most recent shows are showing that it's the morning. Like, there's actually sun truly shining. It's not like sunrise. Yeah, exactly. It is like the morning.
Starting point is 00:31:28 So it's not like they don't feed you, but it's more like you have to like your alcohol, like you need to be very careful about what you drink, how much you drink, hydrate, and snack. Yeah. That might have been one night that I drank water. The first night. Yeah, I want to ask you, Trista, what did you do? You just drink water all night and Red Bull?
Starting point is 00:31:48 No, I mean, I probably was having, I might have been having Red Bull. I don't know what I was, what my drink of choice was back then. It was a long time ago. I definitely wasn't into wine then. It was some kind of mixed, mixed concoction. But yeah, I definitely, I did, I tried to just be sensitive. about that stuff. Did Ryan get your first impression rose too, by the way? I didn't have one. What? Didn't have one. Nope. Nope. We didn't have them back then. I don't know what the first season was
Starting point is 00:32:27 that they did it. They started doing it, but it was not mine. Yeah. Well, would he have gotten the first impression rose had there been a rose to give him? I feel like definitely he was one. So I've always said this. People are like, oh, was he the guy after the first night? And there were four of them. So I remember there being four guys that were kind of in contention. But if I had to have given a first impression rose, it probably would have been him. Yes. I mean, he read me a little poem. I feel like you kind of have to say yes now. You're married to that. Right. Like the correct answers, yes. The correct answer, yes. You were like, no, I actually really like that one guy, Greg. He was so hot. He was so hot. Oh my God. That smile. No. I, yes. He was. He was. He was.
Starting point is 00:33:15 he definitely had a great first impression. Actually, he came out of the limo and didn't say his name. And so I thought it was really sweet and like endearing. Oh, mysterious. Okay. Yeah. He completely forgot. And then he read me the poem.
Starting point is 00:33:33 So, and he played football and a firefighter, I was like, check, check, check, check. Check, check. Check, check. They're like, something's on fire. Put me out. Party Exactly All right
Starting point is 00:33:46 Let's get back to watching I'm so excited to finish And see what happens The first night Are you guys ready? Okay Hi Hi

Starting point is 00:34:32 And in session 421 of Therapy for Black Girls, I sit down with Dr. Othia and Billy Shaka to explore how our hair connects to our identity, mental health, and the ways we heal. Because I think hair is a complex language system, right? In terms of it can tell how old you are, your marital status, where you're from, you're a spiritual belief. But I think with social media, there's like a hyper fixation and observation of our hair, right?
Starting point is 00:34:59 That this is sometimes the first thing someone sees when we make a post or a real. It's how our hair is styled. We talk about the important role hairstyles play in our community. The pressure to always look put together. and how breaking up with perfection can actually free us. Plus, if you're someone who gets anxious about flying, don't miss Session 418 with Dr. Angela Neil Barnett, where we dive into managing flight anxiety.
Starting point is 00:35:25 Listen to therapy for black girls on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. How serious is youth vaping? Irreversible lung damage serious. I'm Gretchen Whitmer, Jody Sweeten, Monica Patton, Elaine Welterah. I'm Jessica Voss. And that's when I was like, I got to go. I don't know how, but that kicked off the pivot of how to make the transition.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Learn how to get comfortable pivoting because your life is going to be full of them. Every episode gets real about the why behind these changes and gives you the inspiration and maybe the push to make your next pivot. Listen to these women and more on She Pivotts, now on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right. He just heightened the poetry up a little notch. I love this. Yeah, he's great.
Starting point is 00:37:01 I'm a sucker for a guy who could play the piano. My Bachelor did too. Any instrument, right? Yeah. They're good with their hands. Right? Oh, he's the coin guy! He's the coin.
Starting point is 00:37:16 He's showing her how it's both sides. Like a prude when it comes to the kissing. I've heard time watching it. I was just going to say, it feels a little awkward to watch them. I don't like my husband's, I'm like, babe, can we fast forward? I just can't. She's very nice. He's a charmer.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Yeah, he's not my first impressing rose anymore. That was kind of cheesy. I feel like the chemistry was better on the other one. Cheesy? Yeah, it was cheesy. Yeah. Her nails looked so pretty. Can I just say I wish mine looked like that.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Oh, God. They look great. Somebody cracked the case. Wait. This disguise isn't working? Right. Huh. That fake mustache that looks like fiberglass.
Starting point is 00:38:01 In my wig. He looks like he's on the game clue. They're calling him out big time. Not cool. That's actually hysterical. I love that they're calling him out. Did you wrestle in college? Oh, I like this guy.
Starting point is 00:38:23 This is the adventure guy, right? Mm-hmm. San Diego guy. Fourth kiss? Four? I don't know. Wait. This is the fourth.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Yeah, I guess. You're right. Four. He's a face grabber. She's cute. that might be the first impression oh my god i can't talk the first impression they're cute together yeah a lot of pink ties tonight that was more natural than the coin flipper that's for sure 100% yes i love he's my clark kent superman yes that's what they always call
Starting point is 00:39:01 ryan clark kent with his glasses oh yeah wait that's weird i love that's my job about it It's another sign. Oh, I'm all about the signs. Check, check, check, check. Oh, no. This doesn't look. You hear the drama music? The bass comes in and so does the drama.
Starting point is 00:39:19 Oh, my God. He's so cute. He is adorable. I feel like he's just excited. It's not. I agree. I agree. I don't think he's being, I think this is just a protective older brother coming in.
Starting point is 00:39:32 I think it was weird for Nehemi to hear him talking about it. So that's why he's having that reaction. Oh, that sucks. I hope he doesn't thwart it for my man, Braden, because I'm pulling for him. That's a big mustache. The best part about this is they're all just drunk enough to be mind-blown when it was the... And they're all going... Most of all these disguise.
Starting point is 00:40:00 Crap, what did I say in front of him? It's not a big deal. It's fine. Oh, my God, you kissed her. Like, oh, my God, stop. I don't think anyone said anything that was bad, though. Do you? I mean more of the wrestler.
Starting point is 00:40:20 He seems like a character, a good commentator all season. Yeah, I don't mind him. Let's take it if it comes around. We need more. He's the frontrunner, so they're trying to knock him down. But Aaron S is so hot. we can't count him out he won't be listen neymia didn't kiss him she did and it was a great kiss see that bums me out because he might have affected her future i know you think aaron gets the
Starting point is 00:40:55 first impression rose oh my god what is happening like seriously if he's going to leave that is that's a big bummer this is so unnecessary I know I don't like this at all I think it's ridiculous a lot
Starting point is 00:41:13 I'm like squirming guys I'm like I'm like this doesn't feel right either it doesn't feel right at all interfering it's interfering it's not
Starting point is 00:41:23 it is totally interfering that is why I have a problem oh I like him so much too doten doten he got caught doing what being excited oh yeah yoy okay so we just finished um another big section and it was where brayden is being uh what's the word uh a approach um by charity to talk to him about
Starting point is 00:41:58 what Nehemiah thought and i feel like we all are having very strong reactions to this i personally am having a very strong reaction because i feel like you do this show it's great to have support but someone coming from the outside and not like share like not seeing the exact same thing i I have a really big problem with him having a... I thought it was funny at first, him having a disguise and thought, yeah, if someone's a total asshole and they're like, fuck her, she just, she needs to make me, you know, go to the end
Starting point is 00:42:39 so I can be the next bachelor. Then that's something. But Braden truly, in our minds, at least the way that we were reacting was, he was so excited. He was like giddy, like he said like a schoolgirl. And I'm sorry if he said that he thought he was going to get the first impression rose because he had a lot of chemistry with her.
Starting point is 00:43:00 I don't think that's being egotistical. I think that's being honest. Absolutely. I'm fully on board with what you're saying. And I thought that, first of all, if any guy is that excited about kissing me, like, here's my left finger, take it, go. And you're like, oh, my gosh. And he wasn't, he wasn't being braggadocious by just. I mean, he literally was jumping.
Starting point is 00:43:26 He was so excited. He, like, skipped to the bartender, and he's so innocent and cute and nice. And then all of a sudden, he can't contain himself. And it's like, this is not her, this is not helping her. This is not adding to the process of her finding the right guy. This is actually derailing her. It's interfering. Yes, it's interfering.
Starting point is 00:43:49 It's creating a target also for these other gentlemen. in let's just call them that now because we haven't seen the whole season yeah right interfering with the way in which you know they're going to be he has a target on his back and all this it's like yeah what he's totally interfering it's the girl this usually happens on episode three where a guy goes to the person to the bachelorette and says this is what they're doing yep et cetera et cetera but not on night one like you're so excited to be there you've taken off work for maybe two and a half months and of course you want the first impression rose like there's nothing wrong with that's what you're there for he was so excited for his time with her they had this great kiss and chemistry so i'm hoping
Starting point is 00:44:38 she's going to give him the first impression rose we're going to get back to it but i mean i don't think that's wrong to want it i mean it'd be crazy not to or to say that you think that you're going to get it like i yes i get that there's a line between confidence and egotism, but in the same respect, like, why can't he, he was just being super excited and giddy. And I personally think that it's because he's her brother. And he was like listening to Brayden talk about how he was kissing his sister. So I think he feels uncomfortable and put a little bit of that into his opinion of him. And I don't think that, I think that's, I actually would really love to talk to charity.
Starting point is 00:45:23 and see after we know how this all ends up, right? And see how charity feels after watching the show and after what Brayden actually said. Do you know what I mean? Please get back to us on those details. You are on assignment now. I'd like to know I have follow-up questions. I will text you.
Starting point is 00:45:42 It could just be like an overprotective brother moment, but like let's hope she doesn't get rid of him because I thought he was one of our top favorites, guys. He is. He's still great. He's going to be in the top. too. For sure. And it wasn't just because we liked him personally. Like we were like yeah. I mean, I feel like, you know, a little bit of that comes into play like, oh yeah, he's cute and he's my type or whatever. But for, I really like him because he had so much chemistry with charity. And how
Starting point is 00:46:11 excited, genuinely excited he was. It was almost like he couldn't contain himself, which would bite him in the butt probably on episode three. Like if he had kept talking about it, but the guys didn't seem bothered by it. They were like, oh, I'm just going to keep it under my hat. I'm not going to talk about our kiss. That's just not how I roll, you know. Yep. And I guarantee you that in the IT, like the producers after they saw that and knew what Nehemiah was saying, they sat them down. And in their ITMs, they said, so how do you feel about Braden bringing up how he thinks he's going to get the first impression rose? And they probably like had them like actually say, well, I think he was egotistical, you know, or whatever, conceded. The show rights itself.
Starting point is 00:46:52 I mean, just, that's how it goes. So I can't, you guys, I can't wait to watch. Let's jump back. I know. Let's, shall we? Yes, we shall. We're going to continue to watch. And I think we'll get done.
Starting point is 00:47:02 And then we will come back and recap the entire episode. So let's go watch. Hi, my name is Enya Emanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. And we run a podcast called Emergency. Starting point is 00:50:11 Yay! Oh, I'm so happy. Oh, thank goodness. We jumped the gun, but I love breeding Yes, they're great Hopefully they'll laugh about this One day
Starting point is 00:50:25 They will And Nehemiah will too Yeah, that's what I mean, yeah Okay You all can go home now Not quite yet Not quite yet Oh
Starting point is 00:50:44 Oh, the one with the mom with the book and the letter. Yes, yes. For the box in the letter. Yes. And the donuts. He's cute. Oh, no, he's crying. I need Spencer to stop with the tears.
Starting point is 00:51:00 It's a little scary, actually. Lorenzo gave me the final rose. It was torture. I don't want her to keep Spencer, but... He might be a producer pick. I bet that's a producer. producer's decision oh that's a good answer proudly when people always say always we'll accept this rose always I think I probably said that I know I did too I love the preview I can't
Starting point is 00:51:31 wait to see the preview I always watch them like three times right she get the details oh boy she didn't make out I oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my god did you see that tom oh yes queen all right girlfriends that was fun such a good first episode what are our what are our thoughts about the ending say do you go first wow thoughts about the ending i mean not surprised at who she chose and who she didn't but the only thing that i was surprised about was the Spencer pick. Yeah. I think it's a producer pick.
Starting point is 00:52:16 But I, again, maybe he's just warming up. Courtney is rooting for him and I can see that. But wow. I know that, I mean, they say, I'm, I've been out of it in the sense. Like, I haven't been watching because I'm just like, oh, I can't get into it. Yeah. Guys, are you into it? I'm into this one.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Yeah. I'm into it. And it, I mean it, too. Like, I am invested. This is exciting for me. um i'm rooting for charity i really really really love um god who did we love the most we love joey well first of all joey but can we talk about braylin i mean and what happened because we were just we were just thinking what's going to happen is she going to give him the first impression rose or is she going to
Starting point is 00:53:04 boot him and thankfully she gave him the first impression rose i'm so happy for him and also that was really great because it also demonstrated that she'll take in what other people say who love her, but she's ultimately going to make her own decision. So I really like that it's setting up the precedence for you know, really set it up for the season for her. And I love that. She's not
Starting point is 00:53:27 she's very strong. She's not only, you know, kind-hearted and beautiful and has a great personality super smart, but she's strong on her own and we're seeing that. And so I love that and I also was so I also love keeping a man on his toes. So I didn't mind
Starting point is 00:53:43 I didn't mind that a little bit. Like, I like now, you know, he, he knows that anything can happen at any time. So he's got to be on his best behavior. So true. I am just so tough. I am so happy that just, you said it perfectly. She took what Nehemiah had to say into consideration, and she made her own decision. So I think that that is amazing.
Starting point is 00:54:12 And I think when she watches the episode, she'll, at least for this first episode, right? When she watches it, if she already watched it, she'll probably be very thankful that she made the decision what she made. Made the decision that she made now. Are things going to change later? We don't know. But at least she gave him the chance to stick around. What did you think, Courtney, of the last part of the episode? Oh, gosh, it was so good.
Starting point is 00:54:38 That's like my favorite part of the episode. We saw people who didn't recognize. eyes like the rose finale we're like who's that was great guy and then you're like chiming and that was a backflip guy I mean it's like you you invest time right two hours and and then you get to watch the preview of the whole season which I love to see and we did get to see him and he obviously goes a far amount and then there's drama you know there's a little bit of drama but I will say I was pleasantly surprised by charity I knew she was going to be great but she had her car commentary was great. She handled it well. I think she's going to be a great lead. Such a good
Starting point is 00:55:17 crop of guys. I mean, confident, great jobs. I mean, I will say, like, they've had seasons where guys have been, like, their job title is like dog trainer or not to knock dog trainers, but, you know, she had what, like two doctors? They're professional. Right. Exactly. They're professional. There's like two, there's a traveling nurse. She's doctors. Yeah. Yes. And then she was a lawyer. Oh, maybe they're that was the guy that was leaving. Maybe he was the lawyer because I don't remember much about anyway. There was an attorney. It's like you, Tristan. You got Ryan who has a career, you know, like you want to meet somebody who has like a career and is there for the right reasons. And the thing that really stood out to me watching this with you guys was how many times she said I
Starting point is 00:55:59 want to find my husband. That could be a fun drinking game. Drink every time. She says, I want to find my husband or my husband's in this room. But I really think I just have a good feeling that she's going to find like this she's going to find that person and because how smart she is and that this is going to be like a satisfying ending so to speak but i'm sad she lost her shoe yeah oh she's cinderella i have to say so i'm getting flashbacks to ben's episode or ben's season where he fell in love with two women jojo and loren and i always felt like so we'll see who she tells if she loves them, if she actually says it, because I always felt like that was so hard for Lauren to hear when she watched the episode that he told another woman that he was in love
Starting point is 00:56:54 with her. That was really hard being in a relationship and knowing that he was in love with this woman, you know? So I wonder, first of all, if she's going to say that she is in love with both of them. And that's really hard because I know it can happen. It has happened in the past. It did not happen to me, thankfully, so I didn't have to deal with that kind of drama. But I do think that that is really, really difficult. It can happen. I believe it can happen. I've had discussions with people who don't feel like it can actually happen. I believe Ben, I believe charity. I believe anyone else who has kind of felt this way in this show? Yes, is it random and would it happen in normal life? Probably not. Absolutely not. Right? Because you have 25 guys or girls, if you're the
Starting point is 00:57:46 male lead, it most definitely can happen. And I think that's really, really hard to navigate. So I hope that, yeah, I hope she goes with her gut, goes with her heart, and that, you know, it turns out to be the happy ending that she wants. I mean, I hope so, too. I just, just to sort of, you know, bold print, underline what you just said, everything is high stakes. The emotions are high. You're traveling.
Starting point is 00:58:18 You're not sleeping a lot. It's also really exciting. You're going to new places. Everybody else is high, you know, emotions as well. So it's like you're feeding off of each other. So you really have. have to find, I think, in this, your calm in the storm, your peace. So I'm really thinking that Charity is going to gravitate more towards someone who makes her feel really calm and less like
Starting point is 00:58:44 the Bachelor experience, if that makes sense. I have this feeling like she's going to enjoy this petty rush, and it's so exciting. But if she is, you know, as determined as she's saying she isn't her desire to want to find her husband, then she will make the right decision. And I mean, I don't even know the girl and I'm confident in her and I'm excited to watch. Yeah, that's true. I mean, I definitely believe that she being what she showed us tonight and then that preview of her maybe possibly taking away a rose from a guy who she didn't feel like deserved it after.
Starting point is 00:59:19 I like, I cannot wait to see that episode because I love a girl power episode. Yeah, it looks like she plucked it right off his best. It does. And I'm all for that. I'm going to say I hope the brother comes back for the ending. I can't wait to see the brother back. Not in a disguise. Oh, I'm sure he'll be back for sure.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Well, he'll be at least back for the episode whatever the second to last it. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Exactly. He'll at least be back for that. But we'll see if he comes back for more and what he's thinking with Brayden being there. That will be interesting. I know if he's there.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Yeah. I love a good preview. I am all about movie preview. and I'm all about bachelor at previews. I'm going to watch it again tonight with my husband. I cheated on him. We saved it for today. Does he like to watch with you? No way.
Starting point is 01:00:09 I can't even get my husband to watch and he was on it. Honestly, it's like a two-day thing. It's like we'll start it. We fall asleep. We'll finish in the morning with her coffee. But I cheated on him with you guys. I was like, I'm sorry. You're going to watch again.
Starting point is 01:00:22 It's okay. I'm going to watch again. Thanks for cheating on your husband with us. I'm going to watch the preview again. Again, like in slow motion. Like, I just love the preview. So I'm sure for it. I am the same.
Starting point is 01:00:37 I will pause it and be like, okay, who's that guy that she's kissing right now? And are they on like a fantasy suite date in another country or are they still in L.A.? Yes. I know when they were on that train, I was like, is this, what is this date? Is this the final four? What's happening? What's going on? Is it just a group trip?
Starting point is 01:00:57 I need to know. Oh, my gosh. Yes. going to be so good what this is so fun i'm glad that oh i did want to say i know what i was what it was going to say so you know how they had a bunch it came back yay um you know how they had a bunch of the bacheloretts giving like you know their advice or um best wishes they actually asked all of us to do it and i'm very sad that i didn't because i just would love i mean she of course heard me on the group text but um charity if you are watching i would love to say that i am
Starting point is 01:01:29 just so proud of how you handled yourself. I know it's weird coming from me. I don't know you, but I feel very maternal towards everyone. And I just feel like you are the perfect lead. You are beautiful. You hold yourself so well, intelligent, funny. I love that you love to laugh. And I am so hopeful that you have found your person.
Starting point is 01:01:53 I'm here for you always. So just know that. And best of luck getting through the season. I was hoping to see you. Are you crying, stop it? The whole time, I was like, where is she? I want to see you. You're right, so.
Starting point is 01:02:08 I just, I, they asked us all to do it. And I was hoping I wanted to do it. But first of all, it's all about timing. We are in the process of selling our home and trying to move. And my kids are just super busy. I honestly, to get ready and actually put the face on, Like, takes me a while. So, tell me about it.
Starting point is 01:02:34 Take to get a good solo shower takes a minute. Right? You look great. And that was a lovely piece of advice for her. And I'm sure that she will see that. And I'm sure she will take that in. And she knows that she can go to you. And the fact that you guys are all on a group chat is amazing.
Starting point is 01:02:55 I mean, I wish I could see some screenshots, you know, let me know. Well, honestly, there's not a lot of dirt being shared. It's just mostly just supporting each other, like wishing people happy birthday or, you know, congratulations, you're pregnant, you know, that kind of stuff. It's a good little community.
