The Kristian Harloff Show - Jon Watts To Direct Star Wars Episode X! With Rey Returning!

Episode Date: September 28, 2026

STAR WARS: EPISODE X Is Happening?! Jon Watts To Direct NEW Skywalker Trilogy! | Kristian Harloff Show Star Wars: Episode X is reportedly moving forward — and the Skywalker Saga isn't over! Spider-M...an: No Way Home director Jon Watts is set to direct the first movie in a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, with Rey expected to return as Lucasfilm continues the story beyond The Rise of Skywalker. On today's Kristian Harloff Show, we break down this potentially massive development for the future of Star Wars. Is continuing the Skywalker Saga the right move? What happened to the previously discussed Rey/New Jedi Order movie? And is Jon Watts the filmmaker who can successfully launch the next era of Star Wars on the big screen? After directing Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy for Marvel Studios and Sony, Watts taking on Star Wars: Episode X would be a major move. But after the divisive response to the sequel trilogy, does Lucasfilm need Episode X — or should Star Wars finally leave the Skywalker Saga behind and focus on completely new characters and eras? We're also talking about the absolutely massive performance of Avengers: Endgame Encore. The re-release reportedly earned $86 million worldwide, including $26 million domestically and $60 million internationally. Seven years after Endgame originally hit theaters, audiences are still showing up for the Avengers. Does this prove Avengers: Doomsday could be even bigger than we're expecting? Speaking of Doomsday, the Russo Brothers are teasing a very different Thor. After the increasingly comedic direction of Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder is reportedly going to have a much more serious presence in Avengers: Doomsday. Is this the Thor MCU fans have been waiting to see again? And finally, John Cho is looking back at the Star Trek movie that almost happened with Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino's proposed R-rated Star Trek remains one of Hollywood's biggest "what if?" projects. Would his gangster-inspired take on Star Trek actually have worked? #StarWars #StarWarsEpisodeX #EpisodeX #Rey #JonWatts #SkywalkerSaga #Lucasfilm #AvengersEndgame #AvengersEndgameEncore #AvengersDoomsday #Thor #ChrisHemsworth #Marvel #MarvelStudios #MCU #StarTrek #QuentinTarantino #MovieNews #KristianHarloffShow Get up to $200 off Square hardware when you sign up at square.com/go/kristian! #squarepod Download the Kalshi app and use code KRISTIAN to get $20 when you trade $20. Starting point is 00:00:01 What a show we got today, everybody. Over the weekend, the news broke that John Watts, Spider-Man director, trilogy, John Watts, going to be directing episode 10, and the trilogy will continue with the Skywalker's. Avengers Endgame made 86 million on its weekend and got up there pretty close. A couple other movies didn't do as good as maybe they wanted to. so we'll dive into that and say what the hell's going on with Avengers and can it actually be Avatar we shall see um we got a lot of stuff man we got there's another thing with something else with blade going on is more DC News we have some big announcements I got a big
Starting point is 00:00:46 announcement that I'm going to make and I'll tell you guys about that in just a little bit I got the outlaw here with so it's going to be a pretty fun show I'm excited for it I hope you are two. It's Monday. Let's do it. Did you shit in there? What's going on? Everybody, welcome back to the show here today on this Monday, back in the swing of things. Joining me on the show. Hello, everyone, happy Monday. How are you doing? How's it going, Kristen? Good to have you. We had a lot of stories, I mean, tons of stories. I see that. It was, you know, it's funny. I was telling you before we went on air that you both, we're doing all right right now, the two of us. I can't believe it. I can't believe it. I can't believe it. Winston, Winston, not too much. No. Winston, not too much. Winston, Winston's, uh, Winston's in trouble. Oh, and three. You don't defend the pass. You die by the pass. Beautiful throw
Starting point is 00:01:47 by Lamar and that field goal. Amazing. Oh, it was wonderful. It was, it was really nice to be there. It was my daughter had a, like, a birthday weekend, which was crazy down. Um, well, because wait, how old is she now? She just turned nine. So, oh, boy. The thing is, and this is something that's pretty nuts. And I'm probably
Starting point is 00:02:03 going to talk about this on stage on October 8th. I think I have to. is that, first of all, we were going to do this big, we're going to do this party at this event place that she wanted to do. Why are we doing that? It's just, this is a couple, like months back. So why don't we, why don't we just, we'll get like a bouncy house for the kids that can run around in the backyard and it'll be, you know, she'll invite who she wants to invite. She invited her whole class, like 28 and 9 year old, 28 and 29, you know, in the mix.
Starting point is 00:02:31 So, and there were neighborhood kids and other kids. So we're like, okay, outside, not a big problem to do that. You just got to make sure you just don't go running into the street. We'll do the bouncy house thing. Everything will be fine. Well, we didn't take consideration. There was a massive storm that was going on. That's right.
Starting point is 00:02:45 The North Easter. Yes. So there was no longer an opportunity to do a bouncy house because it would have blown out to California where you are. So we couldn't do that. So we also couldn't cancel. So we said, all right, we're going to have to figure out how to put 20 of these kids in the house and figure some stuff out. Now, when I tell you, chaos is a word that is used often. It is used in the correct part right here.
Starting point is 00:03:15 And not only did we do this. And my wife and I are, let's manage this thing. The parents that came were the most thankful. Oh, that's good. Of course. What are we doing to do with our kids in this rain? Hey, yo! We go to the movies.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Like this. Like this. kicking them. Kicking them in. Have fun. We'll see you in two hours. Which is, now, John,
Starting point is 00:03:44 let me tell you. I have been on a plane with Vince McMahon. I have been screamed at by Joel Silver. Nothing is more intimidating. My wife said, hey,
Starting point is 00:03:54 why don't you take these 15, 20 girls and play pin the tail on the donkey with them? Whoa. It went into a sweat. I said, I can't do that. I don't know what to do there.
Starting point is 00:04:03 I ran out. I said, I go get the pizza. And I went and I got I got a bunch of pizza Talios hooked us up. Taliah if you don't, if you don't, Massapeco, Mineol, if you don't go to Talios, even if you're visiting here from the city, you go to Talios. The best pizza going, they're the best. But then the other thing is, boys, when they want to, they let you know, they want you to know when they farm.
Starting point is 00:04:30 They want you to. Sure. It's like the 4th of July. They're going to watch this one. Yeah, yeah. Nine-year-old girls, it's like, they're like bond villains with gas. Oh, yeah. It's, and even the dog walks in going, fuck this, I'm not going to be.
Starting point is 00:04:46 I don't want to be in this room. It's raining out, buddy, I will get struck by lightning. I want nothing. And he doesn't even know what he thinks is the air smells bad at the time of the time. He doesn't know, but like it, it was brutal. But we pulled it off and there was an MVP, this one mom stayed by and helped my, my wife. And it was just, but it was interesting. it was fun but then we went to dinner with my family
Starting point is 00:05:07 because my dad was in town so we did that and then yesterday we took we took um she wanted to see forgotten island so we took her to see a forgotten island um i liked it i mean look it was the second time i have seen it um and it's what i think is and i i think it works but i just it's just not for me the movie itself i liked but the thing the one thing i didn't like was they they do this mix of regular kind of almost like um the the animation from, well, it's a regular kind of animation they use for DreamWorks, but then they mix that with the Spiderverse kind of animation, which I do like, but then they do
Starting point is 00:05:44 this mix of like, they're clearly anime fans and they're doing a thing. And there's like, this thing anime does in general, the eyes go black and there's like things. Yeah. And there's a lot of that style. And they clearly fans of that. And there are tons of anime fans that love it. I just, it takes me out of it every time they do it. And it takes me out out of an anime when they do it too. But it's just, it's just the style and people either, you either love it or it doesn't land for you. Yeah, yeah. The jokes were some of them, hit, some of them didn't, but my daughter really enjoyed it.
Starting point is 00:06:11 She liked it a lot, so that's really all that counts. And that was it, and that was the week, but it was like, it was just a crazy weekend overall. And then I can tell you this, John, where we stand right now, look at this, right now, we are at 185, 106. Oh, we are. Oh, so we didn't get, you didn't get to the 200 in the 24 hours? No, because I made an announcement and I said, and what I said was because everybody had made these pledges to get the 16 back and everything too, that I was extending it to the 29 because of the 16 person.
Starting point is 00:06:46 That's not what I agreed to. So you'll hear from my lawyers about this whole situation. Totally fine. The same with Clark Wolf said up until the seven days, right? She said seven days. So this is my announcement and all the, all of the competitors can choose to do what they want after this. I was thinking about this over the weekend because there's all this support to it. And I talked to Craig, my Kickstarter, and there's other things that are in play right now that I'm fairly confident that we're going to hit our goals pretty soon. And I don't want to take this away from the audience. And I don't want to take this away from everybody else who's been really supporting this from day one. You joke, but a lot of the competitors are really excited about getting back to. it. I had a great phone call over the weekend. I spoke to Andrew Fried, who's really looking
Starting point is 00:07:37 forward to putting this together. So I'm telling, I mean, I was going to say when we hit 185, but we did that. I went to bed last night. It was 181. I woke up today. It was 184 and we hit 185 recently. So people are supporting it. So here is the bottom line that, you know, I have to check with Clark and I'll have to check Roka and other people too. When we fund this thing, I'm seeing we're probably going to do it hopefully by this this week but regardless even within let's call it two weeks um i'm bringing a 16 person tournament back regardless um okay so now okay okay so people can i mean ideally what i would hope people would do is i hope people would push us because we because the thing is i want to focus on because i this smowdown is is a thing where everybody is excited for it
Starting point is 00:08:23 to come back and i really want to focus in on the um the the the show and everything else that we need because if we hit our initial goal, right? Even if we hit it in a week from now. If we hit our goal, then the goal is to get to the boardwalk pitchers, basically 340 to 350 goal. And I got to put all my effort and all my time into that to make sure we get the right cast and the music and everything else too. And then that's also going to be able to pay for a lot of the shmowdown things
Starting point is 00:08:48 that we're going to have to do with it. And I don't want to have this over my shoulder going, oh, can we do it? We're going to do eight person. We're going to do live event. Everybody's excited about doing it. The audience is excited about doing it. I don't want to take it away from the audience that. that what you know did it i have a competitor's reaching out to me that want to do it and we'll do
Starting point is 00:09:05 one one thing um so what i'm hoping is that if people you know the other thing people don't realize and i think i i saw somebody even tweet out saying you know i'm just waiting until like you know the next week that i can contribute and i said you can contribute now you don't get charged for it until the campaign's over so people whatever your pledge is it's like well you know i know that next week i'm able to contribute this you can do that that now. And I would like to hit the goal so that way by tomorrow, you know, I want everybody to have a chance to do it. Of course. But moving past that, what I want to do is I want to make sure that the audience that really got excited about this, I don't want to rip that away from them.
Starting point is 00:09:51 I don't want to take the people were trying because people were trying really hard to make this happen. And, you know, not everybody realized that they could contribute. or they're waiting for it but the the the schmodeon like facebook group was getting excited again people are getting excited about it they're trying to make it happen they were getting upset that we weren't an upset in a nasty way just they were getting bummed i should say that it wasn't going to hit and i said we got we have to do it and i'm hoping that because i do because i'm announcing this that people will get us to that goal because if we don't hit that goal we're not making anything which which goal the initial 200 the initial oh okay okay okay and even that you know that we got to blow
Starting point is 00:10:29 pass that. That's why I wanted that's like it's like getting there first, which is great. We had a really good weekend. Um, you know, some, some guy this fuck, he'll call on, uh, on, on Twitter, the guy's like, hey, you said you really wanted to work on this thing. How can we not doing live streams at night over the weekend? I'm like, it's my daughter's birthday. Give me a break. He's like, you got, you got to, you got to prioritize. And I'm like, do you understand what I was doing over the weekend? I sent 700 email. I said, I said, I sent an email to 700 people. I posted on LinkedIn. I went through and I was doing it like I was retweeting. I was posting stuff on lanterns and like I'm working on the weekends as well too.
Starting point is 00:11:06 I got this guy, oh, you're not working hard enough. Sniff my asshole, buddy. Don't listen to these guys, dude. They couldn't raise $20.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Don't listen to these guys. Driving me nuts. Am I, are you kidding me? You guys like give me quotes from Tom Brady. I'm like, you're going to give me quotes from anybody. It's not Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Tell you that. No one who's ever accomplished anything. Listen to these clowns. Yeah. But anyway, so we have, so we got tons. of stuff kind of going on right now.
Starting point is 00:11:33 And, you know, as I'm, as I'm looking currently, we're at 185, 106, it would be amazing. If we get to 190 by the end of today, I mean, we even just bumped up to 185, 506. And people have been, and so we can get to 190 by the end of today, that would be great. I would, we'd be at 95% if we could do that. And the fact that, I mean, like I said, I went to bed, it was at 181. So we're, we're moving right now. We're moving. Yeah, I like it. Yeah. So, well, that's what I was saying, Greenie. Greenie, you mean, that you can put in,
Starting point is 00:12:05 Greenie from us said, well, next payday. And I said, like, you, you won't get charged today when you, you don't get charged until the end of the campaign. Yeah. That's when you get, that's, you get changed at the end. So whatever your pledge is now, you get charged out of the end. PJ's in the chat. Well, I've never, never seen PJ in the chat. Look, who's come out of the woodworks. It was a, it was hilarious. This is hilarious. Come on. Oh, this is a new, no, he's kidding. No, he's kidding. for the whole month. I'm saying it's, it's lit.
Starting point is 00:12:30 But PJ, he's been around a lot more. And he reached out to me. And he and, PLD actually hosted the member stream. And there, people are getting, that's what I'm saying,
Starting point is 00:12:39 that the old crew is getting excited again. It's like, I would have taken one last ride, but we used that for you when you did, um, oh, right. When you,
Starting point is 00:12:48 when you did that with a match with Dan, but like, have those t-shirts. Yeah. Listen, when I was talking to, um, Andrew,
Starting point is 00:12:55 like, we're going to really put like a lot of effort into this tournament. Like, it's going to be, so we want to make sure that that's why I want to go past the goal too, because I want to make sure we can put a little production money
Starting point is 00:13:05 into that as well. But anyway, so. When's the seven days up that you, that, that's what I'm saying. I'm not doing it. Queen Clark Wolf needs to hear. I need you to stop doing that.
Starting point is 00:13:16 What? Because it's as much, you want to walk back into the game. You all better know what you're not in the game yet. She's not in the game yet. I'm in the game already. I know you are your commitment. But you're going to,
Starting point is 00:13:26 but don't, you're going to lose. me Clark Wolf before I even got her. I'll get you another Clark Wolf. There is no other Clark Bull. QVC. There's a lot of QVC hosts. I can get you another one. Stop it. Stop it. So we're going to go and we're going to do. We got a lot of stuff to do. And as far as this, I want to make sure, like, if we hit it by the end of the night tonight, then it's a moot point anyway. But what I'm saying is I'm going to, I'm going to extend it. And, you know, as long as we fund, I mean, look, I'm going to be, I'll tell you everybody right now. And I don't, I think statistically it might be,
Starting point is 00:13:57 I don't want to jinx myself, but like, we should, we should be on course to hit our goal within the next week, right? If, if we, that's, like, I'll be,
Starting point is 00:14:09 I'll be sweating if that's all we, we do by the end of the, um, campaign because it'll be hard to do a 16 person tournament, um, plus a show, plus get the cast we want, plus get the music we want,
Starting point is 00:14:21 plus get the DP we want for, and then plus play the Kickstarter, um, you know, fees out, plus play Craig, out. Then it's like, how do we figure out how to do all this stuff? But I just said, I'll figure it out because I don't want to bargain with the audience's passion on the project because I hear them.
Starting point is 00:14:41 I know that they want the tournament. And so I just got to have faith that will blow past the goal. And I think we will. So, and like I said, even right now, it's at 185, 506. And if people are in there and you can tell people that it's just like, now it's now it's going up. So the more people are putting stuff in there, it'd be great. And we are putting, you know, and John already put a, you, you, we're back to the, because I didn't tell you this. And I should
Starting point is 00:15:08 have been telling everybody this. Last week, yeah, um, you had a stream, you know, and then Roxy and Mike had the, big 24 hour stream the next day. So it was unfair for me to say, oh, well, we're going to you got to beat Roxy and Mike.
Starting point is 00:15:24 Oh, no one's going to beat them. So everybody's getting a bonus for next week last week. Oh, that's very nice. Everybody's going to a bonus from last week. But this week we're back on track. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You've got 10 questions already in there. So anyway, that's where we're at.
Starting point is 00:15:36 And now we're going to get to some of these stories. So let's start with the big one that hit over the weekend. And I don't know if you were hearing this or if it was, it just kind of came out of nowhere. And that is, of course, that, well, we knew that we knew that Simon Kimber was pretty much doing episode 10, 11, and 12. Yes. That was pretty much well known. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:59 And everybody was saying, oh, is it, it's going to be, it's going to be, it's like, yeah, they should, why they didn't announce that at D23 is, is crazy.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Crazy. If it's getting leaked and they're just going to do this, like, if they were working on the plan to get John Watts and it wasn't done yet, I understand not announcing him yet, because maybe it wasn't done yet. But if you know you're doing 10, 11 and 12, and Star Wars kind of,
Starting point is 00:16:23 didn't even show that, that trailer, they've got to get there they've got to start running those live events a lot better than they are but this story hit over the weekend and that is that Spider-Man director John Watts is
Starting point is 00:16:37 going to direct a new episode 10 and the new trilogy is going to continue on with the Skywalker saga okay so why won't that close please turn bull's eye off Empire City
Starting point is 00:16:53 come on tired of this go away Don't go away. Spider-Man, No Way Home Helmer. John Watts is set to direct the first movie in a new Star Wars trilogy, which will reportedly be Episode X of the Skywalker Saga with Ray returning. The Mandalorian Grogu was in the box office at Disney and Lucasfilm expected. Now all eyes will be on next summer Star Wars Starfighter to see if Sean Levy and Ryan Gosling can dispel the notion that Star Wars is a streaming property. Starfighter will also be the final Star Wars project developed by former Lucas film president, Kathleen Kennedy. Dave Flonie has since been appointed the studio's co-president and no doubt has a vastly different vision for this galaxy far far away. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Spider-Man franchise director John Watts has been tapped to helm the first installment of Star Wars Rebels and X-Men Days of Future Pass writer Simon Kinberg's new trilogy. Night Edge Media was the first to reveal Watts' involvement with episode 10. Trade has also learned that this movie will be episode 10 of the
Starting point is 00:17:48 Skywalker saga and not a completely unrelated trilogy. At exactly what point in timeline is it set isn't clear, but it said that Ray would appear in some capacity in the new trilogy. The decision to end the rise of Skywalker with a reveal that Ray had named herself, Ray Who? Ray Skywalker didn't land. So we'll be interesting to see whether we somehow meet any new members of the original Skywalker bloodline. It makes sense for Ray's story to continue here, especially since her solo outing first announced at 2023, has yet to materialize after burning through multiple writers.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Episode 10 become a reality on Flonney's watch. Sources say the project is still in development and has not yet been green light. Okay, well, there's my answer as far as the D-23 goes. So shut up me. Although it seems to be the project for the furthest along development track after Starfighter. Watts is no stranger to Star Wars. He developed and directed skeleton crew.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Filmmaker also has blockbuster experience doing the Spider-Man trilogy. Promoting skeleton crew, Watts said, I love Star Wars. I would do anything in the Star Wars universe. And I think we set it up her way to destroy the continue in a lot of interesting ways. And then they just shit on Kimber for a second. So let's start with do we think 10, 11 and 12 will go? My answer is yes. Yeah, I'm sure it will go.
Starting point is 00:19:02 I mean, the Kenberg stuff is really fascinating, man, because his track record is not that great, blew the dark Phoenix twice. And you just, he's right. Did he do it twice? Yeah, he did the first type around. And then this was recent one. So there's a feeling here from a lot of people that he's, you know, they don't understand why.
Starting point is 00:19:20 he's doing it, right? But there was also some tweets over the weekend saying, well, people love working with this guy, and he's very nice, and it's a rarity in Hollywood, and that's why he keeps getting opportunities. So, we'll see what he can create. I like the fact that John Watts is coming in to do this. John Watts, shall I read you
Starting point is 00:19:36 the box office of John Watts, Spider-Man movies, 880 million for homecoming, 1.13 billion for Spider-Man far from home, and then no way home made $1.9 billion. Yet there's this small faction of people on the internet who are complaining that John Watts has been hired to direct Star Wars. Are you people morons? Like,
Starting point is 00:19:55 I just don't understand it. I'm excited by this. I think it makes sense. This is the direction Faloni wants to go in for quadrant direction that appeals, just like George Lucas did, to as many people as possible in their approach of Star Wars. Will it work? I don't know. There's a lot of questions, especially with Kinberg attached. But that being said, John Watts is a damn good director. I don't care what anybody says. So I know, I like this idea. I like this combo. What do you think my opinion is on this. I want to see if you know me. First of all, I think you're not happy at Skywalker's shit continuing.
Starting point is 00:20:26 And I think you're not 100% happy with John Watts because it's not as out of the box thinking as you would like. What are your thoughts? So to quote someone in a movie somewhere, I don't know where it was said, but I know it was said. It's like you don't even know me. I love that they're doing 10, 11, and 12.
Starting point is 00:20:44 And I love the fact, I think John Watts is an excellent choice for this. And I'll tell you, why he's an excellent choice because and people said it in the comments and you're going to go well that's not a good thing he's an excellent choice because he's a safe choice and i'll tell you why they need safe right now because 10 11 and 12 when you and first of all kinberg i've always been on board with kinberg writing a star war story as long as he wasn't directing right yeah he was very heavily involved in the in the creation of rebels he was supposed to do a boba fete thing based off of the tales of the bounty hunter a long time ago and it just fell through he loves star wars he understands the
Starting point is 00:21:21 mechanics of it so if he can put into fruition a trilogy plot line from this is where 10's going to start and that's where 12 is going to end yeah that's what the last trilogy did not have the other thing that the trilogy did not have were directors who wanted to play ball with the creative team they wanted to do things their own way john wats plays with the creative team yeah clearly did that with skeleton crew. I didn't watch. I didn't watch all skeleton crew. I watched a little bit of it. It just wasn't for me. But he understood Star Wars.
Starting point is 00:21:55 He got it, right? He's a good and what he did very well in the each people can, I would argue, I think, well, maybe not. I was going to say the Star Wars, the Spider-Man trilogy, I think most people would either say one, three, two
Starting point is 00:22:10 or three-one, two as far as best, right? You can change a lump Some of it was in No Way Out. Some of it was the first one. I like No Way Out, probably the best. And one of the things about No Way Out was the range of emotion that he was able to convey, whether it was what Andrew Garfield's arc kind of comes to.
Starting point is 00:22:28 No Way Home. What did I say? No Way Home. No way home. Sorry. Yeah, No Way Home. And so what he did in No Way Home in general, balancing the emotional what Tom Holland went through, what Garfield went through.
Starting point is 00:22:45 shit when Toby went through all what they all went through and bringing that he he plays with a good emotion i think episode 10 11 and 12 have to have the motion we don't know if he's going to do all all three and he probably shouldn't to be honest with you too i'm and because if they stick with this but he could he could if he if he does great but i'm not i'm not someone that is like oh you got to get you got to get the same director for all three that was never my issue my issue wasn't that they didn't have the same director for all three. My issue was that nobody stuck to a damn plan. And that in the first one, like, well, here's episode seven.
Starting point is 00:23:20 JJ set it up. Here you go. What are you got? You're going to take it and run with it? I'm going to switch stuff up. Luke's going to throw a thing over his head. He's going to drink some blue tits. He's going to do this.
Starting point is 00:23:28 He's going to do that. He's going to do that. And then, you know, no one's going to care and raise just kind of nobody, right? Cool. What are you got? Well, I'm Colin Chavaro. And I'm going to be the one guy that actually ties in together, everything that you guys do. And we'll make it look like we had a plan.
Starting point is 00:23:43 Jay's version, everything did there, and then what Ryan followed up, we'll keep Kylo bad, and then we'll finish it up and look like we have a plan. Great, you're fired. Oh, now what? So now, JJ, you come back. You want to do the same thing, Collum is doing? Nah, you know what I'll do? I'm going to take everything and scrap all the stuff that Ryan Johnson just did, and I'll go back and do my own stuff. Palpatine's back. There's clones everywhere. This is going on. And it's like, it was just a mess. And he's like, he's not paying attention to anything. So if John Watts takes the first one, because they know where they're going from 10 to 12. And John Watts is the first one to go, okay, well, here you go.
Starting point is 00:24:16 They might say to him, you did such a great job on 10. Would you want to do 11 also? And he might say yes. And he might say, F, this. I don't want anything to do with this. He's a good, he's a good director. And he's, and he knows how to range the emotion with what Star Wars means. This is a good choice.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Yes, this is a good choice. And I, it draws, and I, I push back on this idea that he's safe. He's not a safe choice in the. Safe for them, safe, safe, what I'm saying, safe for them to tell the story they want to, to tell. Like, he'll play ball more so, safe that way. Right, that's fair, that's fair. But I'm saying creative.
Starting point is 00:24:49 People like these three movies were boring ass, paint by numbers movies. I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to, see the chat going crazy. People can't even direct themselves out of a driveway. The things he's done in these three movies are the reason why people went to see this new Spider-Man movie in the numbers that they did.
Starting point is 00:25:08 John Watts did an incredible job with those three movies to get Tom Holland to be this. What do you think? Tom Holland just walked on the set. It was like, I already know what I'm doing. I'm good to go. I don't need a direction. John Watts directed Tom Holland's performance and Zendaya's performance in those movies. A director directs actors and picks the takes that are going to be used. He was incredible.
Starting point is 00:25:29 And I think those three movies, I think he gets better with each movie all the way to No Way Home. I love No Way Home. It's my favorite of the three. I think it's incredible. I think he does make bold decisions. I think he messes with the mythology of these characters in interesting ways. Bringing in Vulture to be essentially the Green Goblin in that first movie, I think was really smart. And then bringing all the Spider-Men together.
Starting point is 00:25:49 You guys can barely handle two people on the phone. And you're going to tell me it's easy to direct three different Spider-Man, two Spider-Man would have been established under different directors and bring the performance, bring it all together. And give Andrew Garfield the Gwen Stacy moment to really, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, deem him, there's just so much that's amazing of those three movies. So when people say, and I don't mean you, Christian,
Starting point is 00:26:12 but people say that he's boring or it's a safe choice as if it's not artistically interesting or out of their minds. I think this is a great, and I think you should do all three. I think you should do it. Well, yeah, I mean, look, three is a commitment. And it really is a commitment.
Starting point is 00:26:27 And I think that I don't think there's anything wrong with almost looking at like television, right? Like, so when television does, like if you do 12 episodes of a show, very rarely, it is super rare that you have a director who directs all 12 episodes, right? Yes, no, you're right. But they know the arc of where the story is going. Right, there's a showrunner who does that in TV.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Right, right. So they'll have like, okay, look, we know where, and that's essentially what Simon Kinberg is for this thing. He's the showrunner of episode 10, 11, and 12. So if he's mapping out this full thing and the story is coming to be like, we know we're going to start here, we know we're going to end here, that is 100% what this trilogy needs right now. And it doesn't need like, oh, we'll figure it out.
Starting point is 00:27:09 That's what they did. You know, for a fact, that's what they did last time. We'll figure it out. People are so excited about seven. It'll all work out and it didn't. So, I mean, you can make the argument that it made money, but diminishing money each time when, historically, when they're really good, they go up, not down. Right. And that's what I went down.
Starting point is 00:27:30 So. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, he's progressively made more money. 100%. That means he's speaking to the public. And the public likes what he's doing. regardless what a small, very small minority of people who have an issue with his Spider-Man.
Starting point is 00:27:42 And you are. You guys are in a small island somewhere in the middle of the Pacific. People who have a problem with John Wants. That's the thing. You hit the nail in the head because what it comes down to is that you're making this movie overall. You have to make this for everyone and not just a portion of the movie fans
Starting point is 00:27:58 are online talking about it. You got to make this one for everybody because that's another reason why. I think that the people are going to, and the same portion that are complaining about John Woller, are going to go, here we go, we're doing another Skywalker story. There's a reason why they also brought back Downey and Evans. Yeah, because that's right now, look, I'd love to see Knights of Republic.
Starting point is 00:28:19 I'd love to see it. It ain't going to happen with Thunderfaloni, at least not anytime soon, because that's too scary for them right now. And I have to say, I get it, because I don't think they have the creative tools yet to and confidence to say, we can really make this work. Let's go freaking balls out. They're not in the position. to try something new like that,
Starting point is 00:28:39 they have to try to continue to lure and get back that feeling that they've lost and the trust that they've lost with the audience. So if they can, now the question is, how are they going to do it? Is it going to be another Skywalker story because Ray just decided to call herself Ray Skywalker now?
Starting point is 00:28:55 Or are they going to have Luke come back as a Force Ghost? I think you have to. I think you got to have Luke as a Force Ghost. Right. But if you have Luke as a Force Ghost. You can have Luke as a Force Ghost and you could. Why no? people now the one thing they bed that's my other question i have is are they going to basically
Starting point is 00:29:16 fold in because everyone's talk because it it caught fire of that freaking sodaberg thing and how the ben solo movie are they going to bring him back somehow with and and and fold him into this so that way that you know you have because if you have adam driver daisy ridley and and Mark Hamill returning, you're selling it. You're going to have the groans, like, oh, and then you're like, but how are you going to do it?
Starting point is 00:29:45 Like, how are you going to? Because if Luke can come back as a force ghost, Luke can come back as a force ghost. If Obi-Wonged. Yeah, carries the tradition, of course. Yeah, that makes all the sense of the Lord. And even Leia, who of course showed us, she has the force.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Right. You could have someone, I don't know if they do that. I don't know if they do AI or CGI, whatever they do A. Harold Ramos for Ghostbusters. I don't know, dude. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:06 You can't do AI. We're old men talking about it. I just don't think young people don't have an issue with. But it's not just a matter of the idea the moral side of people will lose their minds because that'll definitely happen. Besides that, the technology is not there yet. Now, to make her look like she's there, they could definitely do that. I mean, you've seen those Christopher Reeve ones that have been happened lately with like, holy shit. I mean, they're near perfect.
Starting point is 00:30:34 But then he starts talking and you're like, there's no. emotion behind it. It's not I mean there's some there's some that have gotten even like there's these friends ones that I see sometimes that are just really they're getting better but they're still mechanical. So I don't know but that's another conversation all on its own. Right.
Starting point is 00:30:51 The idea of actually continuing on with the Skywalker thing it is it that's another safe play but it is the play it is the best play to try to save the business right now. Yeah. They gotta save their business. It's about execution, isn't it? It's irrelevant what the story is if the story is good.
Starting point is 00:31:12 It's irrelevant. If it's a Skywalker saga or not a Skywalker saga, it's about making it exciting and interesting and fun for people to keep coming back to watch these installments. Listen, and they nailed Force Awakens. So I don't care what anyone says. So if they nail this one,
Starting point is 00:31:29 then you've got some excitement going forward. But I hope to God, they don't repeat the same mistakes of the last one. And we'll see. Kinberg writes all of these, and I think that's a reason they haven't greenlit it, is because Kinberg's not done with it, and they may not be 100% satisfied with it, but at least the first one is done, it seems like, because I don't think you're assigned a director to it, unless the first one is complete in a way that you like.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Script wise for the first one, yeah, because I think that he's already submitted a full-on, like treatment for the trilogy. Treatment, yes, but not actual full script. Yeah, which is great. I mean, that gets me hopeful. And, like, I like Kinberg's storytelling side of it. Yes, he's missed with some stories, and I don't want him anywhere near directing it, but he's not directing it. He's producing it and he's crafting it out with story.
Starting point is 00:32:14 And you know, I'm doing it by himself. You know, he's got, there's other people there. There's other people there. And I've said this to us, as tough of a critic as I've been on Floney, he's a masterful storyteller. He's a really good storyteller. He's a not a great dialogue writer, but he's a great storyteller. And he knows the lore, like, better than almost anybody else, minus like maybe George Lucas.
Starting point is 00:32:35 He knows, yeah, and well, Sam Whitmer might give him a run for his money. But, but either way, there's people that are going to be lending and help, and the other side of the other reason to bring in Faloni is that, as they mentioned in that article, this would be Falonis gem. This is, this is his, this is what is going to make or break him, right?
Starting point is 00:32:58 Yeah, yeah. Because Starfighter doesn't count. People will blame him, but he will have, if it's not good. good Starfighter, right? Right, right. But he'll always, people and will always have the save on this show and in other shows. Yeah, but that wasn't his decision.
Starting point is 00:33:14 He wasn't the one that green. He had to be there. He had to help the story. But under his leadership, that's not the one that he championed to get made. This would be. And another reason why, all right, my first project, what's your first big project is as the leader? I'm doing episode 10, 11 and 12.
Starting point is 00:33:30 Yeah, I'm doing, yeah, Kathleen Kennedy's first big foray was what? that was the new trilogy. Lucas built it off of the trilogy. So Flonis going, I'm doing a trilogy. And I'm going to do the trilogy and I'm going to shepherd this thing. I'm going to make this thing. And then if it's great, if it is, that's a tall order. But if it's great, you know, people like, even like myself will be like, okay, look, the guy took a shot.
Starting point is 00:33:55 He did this thing. And the question is, who are you gearing this towards? Are you gearing this towards the road of the hut audience again? or are you going to gear this towards a little bit more, make a little bit more mature? And I think that that's okay to do. I think Mando and Groger was just, you know, it's just, this, we just want to get it out there,
Starting point is 00:34:11 see what happens. I think there was no expectation with that one, as we've said over and over again. So, but I do think this is where Faloni has got to put the rubber to the road. Can you really do it? Live action, oversee this thing with Kinberg, with John Watts. You know, and I think that's another thing. I'm sure Philoni had a really good experience with John Watts on Skeleton
Starting point is 00:34:30 crew. Yeah. So he knows what he's got. with him and what they can do and work together on. Now, the Ray thing is going to be controversial, but again, if you can make it work, then that's what matters. Some people are misunderstanding what I'm saying in the chat. I'm not saying story doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:34:43 I'm saying what the subject of the story is irrelevant if the story is good. If the script is good, that means the movie has a good chance to be good. That's what's important here, right? But I think we're now, clearly, Christian, I think we can say that the Ray movie is dead, don't you? Like, the Ray movie is never going to happen. The movie's been dead for years. Yeah, that's what I was saying.
Starting point is 00:35:01 They've never officially announced it. No, but it's like this seems pretty clear. They don't want to do that because it looks like another one of those kind of failure things. Right. Chinoa hasn't been seen or heard anywhere since that day. She was all over the place talking about Star Wars and she hasn't, not one interview talking about Star Wars. Her and Annie Mochietti are going to be doing a movie together more than them doing Brave and the Bold and Ray. This isn't going to happen.
Starting point is 00:35:26 And they changed it. They said because it's, that was not the movie to do yet. putting her in the new trilogy, that makes it. It's the same thing I said about like Luke in that Mandalorian episode in season two. If you're going to do something five to six years in the past and you're going to put Jedi and everything else too and she's not in it, well, where the hell is Ray? Right. For even people who don't like her as a character, right, which I do like her as a character,
Starting point is 00:35:49 but people who don't like her as a character, like you can, it's story sense, wouldn't it wouldn't it be stupid to not, they say, like, at least acknowledge where she is or what she's doing or you kind of have. have to. You can also build out new characters and maybe those people who didn't like her will maybe like someone else. The question is, will they give them the chance to try to do that?
Starting point is 00:36:11 Who knows? Are we getting what's the term? To use a lantern's term, are we getting reparations for Ray, Finn, and Pope? Like all three, are all three of them coming back into this new trilogy to be a better, to be
Starting point is 00:36:28 part of a better trilogy possibly. give him a makeup thing. That's what I wonder about in that sequel trilogy. Yeah, I don't know. It's going to be interesting. I'm curious what you guys think. Put your thoughts in there. Let us know. What are you thinking about John Watts as the choice? What do you think about episode 10, 11 and 12? You can comment here. You can check us out on the clips channel. Really want to know. All right. I'm going to give you guys real quick. I want to tell you guys about both Square and Kalshi. right back. Thank you to Square. Thank you to Cal She. Appreciate that very much. Links in the description. If you guys want to go and check it out. Luke, where is the, I'm trying to find the video that you uploaded today that, where is it? There is one, where the hell is it? There's a video that I saw over the weekend that I wanted to play for people. But it's, I think Luke said he, where is it? Hold on a second. Very bottom. Let me see. Let me see him.
Starting point is 00:37:25 Looking, I'm looking. I'm looking. Don't play it. Let me see it. Oh, I see it. Thank you. Okay. Do you, have you ever heard, Roque, have you ever heard of Kermit, Kermit Mofrog? My daughter had told me about him too. Okay. Kermit Muffrog?
Starting point is 00:37:41 He, like, does, like, these theater, Instagram videos where he does, like, Kermit, like, rapping and singing and doing all this. Oh, okay. So, okay. So, like, 36,000 followers and one of those. I was tagged in a video. video by Carmen and check this out.
Starting point is 00:37:56 He gave us years from a microphone seat, movie debates and the trivia heat, Star Wars arguments, laughter and more than somehow made all of us care a bit more. Not because the algorithm told him what sells, not chasing the trend, he just loves what he loves well. That's Christian Harlow, no cynical shield, just showing his hand and explaining the feel. And think of the hours that somebody gives, the jokes in your headphones, the stories you live, the days when a voice you don't personally know, makes the traffic move faster, makes the traffic move faster, 10 minutes go, that matters, entertainment's an intimate art.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Somebody broadcasts you carry a part, a stranger can quietly enter your day and leave you with something that doesn't fade away. So now he says here is the story I've got. I believe in this thing. Want to give it a shot? It's called trending. But look at the beautiful twist. It's about what survives when the trend doesn't stick.
Starting point is 00:38:42 About relevance, reinvention risking the fall, and whether the numbers mean anything at all. The creator spent years discussing creation. Is betting himself on his own imagination because art doesn't happen from wishing. alone. It takes crews, takes sets, takes a world being grown. It takes money and muscle and people who care, a community saying you jump, we'll be there. So back something human, back somebody betting, back
Starting point is 00:39:03 making the thing instead of regretting. He spent years asking what story's worth recommending now he's finally got his. Let's get this thing trending. How great was that? That's cool, man. That's amazing. Kerman McFrock. He's my boy. That's my boy.
Starting point is 00:39:27 But it was really talented. Go and follow him, please. I mean, it seems like everybody is already. But he's, he's awesome. That was really kind that he did that. Yeah. And yeah, it was just really nice to see. That's that Mets hat on, too.
Starting point is 00:39:40 It was the only thing that I was the only thing that I, but you know, that was, do you know how much of pain me? I had to get, I actually had to get, um, a freaking, uh, a Mets shirt for my nine year old. Oh, right, because she's becoming a fan. She, well, she likes the Mets and the Yankees, but she wanted them, she wanted a Mets shirt. So I got her Mets shirt.
Starting point is 00:39:59 And my mom, my mom was just like, did you have to get that for us? Like, yeah, I had to. You get her hat that split down the middle. That's the one you should get. Great. Right now, I try to open up this article that Luke sent me. And I'm getting a beach ball. So what I think what I'm going to have to do,
Starting point is 00:40:20 because I can't even switch over to my next to the tab. So what I'm going to have to do, John, I'm going to, Luke, you might, once I sign out here, I'm going to have to sign out and come back in. So when I do, just give John the full screen. And then I'll be back in a second. So John, just hold out for like two seconds and I'll come back in. There we go.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Finally, leading the Christian Harlov show here on a Monday. Absolutely. Christian's figuring to how about them commanders, huh? Handling business. Well, while we were doing the show, the New York Giants traded for J.J. McCarthy. J.J. McCarthy is now going to be competing with James Winston to be QB1 over there in New York. I guess that went over Tennessee gave them a little bit of confidence.
Starting point is 00:41:04 We'll see what happens there. But hey, let me talk to you about my channel, the John Roker channel. That is up and running for you all. We just had the most recent episode of the Hot Mike on Thursday. Yes, we're still doing that show. Geek Buddies dropped as well. Then last night, I did my live spoiler review for the most recent episode of Lanterns. A lot to talk about in that episode as well.
Starting point is 00:41:21 So yeah, go and subscribe to the John Roker channel, please. The only problem now is that I lost every damn one of those super chats. Oh, no. So, I mean, not that, now that they're gone completely, I just have to bring them up on the, on the YouTube app. But anyway, so let me get this story that we'll, we'll do, what should we do first? Did you hear the story of J.J. McCarthy that just happened for your giants. You guys just traded for J.J. McCarthy there. I did see that, but I was like, I didn't know if I was going to bring that up in this show today. But, um, but I will see. So what should we do for, you know what? There's a new story that dropped because I guess, um, there's a big TV, TV deal that went
Starting point is 00:41:59 down that people want us to talk about. But I'm going to do this one. I'm going to do this one first. I'm going to bring up the box office because we always talk about the box office on the weekends. That's what you and I do. And hold on. Sorry. Let me second. And right now, Avengers End Game, as we thought so, was the number one movie of the weekend, which we thought would happen. So let's let's see overall. what the numbers are, were, well, this, usually on Dark Horizons, give us like a lead into it, then we see the final numbers on box office.
Starting point is 00:42:37 But Avengers Endgame Encore, it made 86 million. Yep. Which is on part of what we thought potentially could happen. I don't know how long they're keeping it in theaters for, but Marvel Studios and Disney re-released, Avengers End Game in Cinema is this weekend, and it's just how big the appetite for the next entry in the series is,
Starting point is 00:42:54 despite the film being seven years old and easily available on many platforms, has still managed to pull an 86 million world, world wide this weekend, 26 million domestic and 60 million overseas. That's truly exceptional take for a re-release, the third best domestic start for a release between only 1997 special edition Star Wars, re-released in 35.9 and 2011 is the Lion King 3D at 30.2. It's the second best foreign debut for a re-release behind the 67 million for Titanic 3D in 2012. 14% of its game came from the IMAX screens after this weekend, the lifetime worldwide take for Avengers in-game, moved up to 2.885 billion,
Starting point is 00:43:30 around 35 million behind the 2.92 billion of Avatar. Second place, both domestically and worldwide, was the second weekend of Zach Krieger's Resident Evil with 23.3, 27 million overseas worldwide now at 196.5. That's pretty good for that movie. Brad Pitt led Heart of the Beast was the biggest of the newcomers coming in third place, so 20 million domestically. That's pretty big. And 31, million overseas and we'll talk about that in the second but that's that that's pretty big and i'll talk about that in a moment fourth domestically was the robert patinson led primetime with 19.1 the film was oddly holding back much of its international release by a month so the film overseas market that
Starting point is 00:44:10 just contributed 1.2 forgotten island ran it out domestic top 5 with 12.8 domestic and 5.4 overseas brand new day finally dropped out of the top 5 let's do the box office mojo right here and bring this up and there you go so there is and game encore you know what's interesting though when you when you bring this up yeah it doesn't include it into the worldwide total yet it just has it like it's its own kind of separate release which will not be the take um yeah as i said resident evil this is the one though to forgotten island i mean how much i mean it's animation so 20 million on ovi that this is going to be a big disappointment and probably should have made more money than this because it's it's a it's a better movie than that
Starting point is 00:44:55 shows. Primetime, that's a big number for that movie's considering that, you know, no, no international really released. But this is the story to me is heart of the beast. And I think what the story is, besides the obvious of adventures in game, people excited about it, and we'll get into that. Yeah. I am saying it all the time to the fact where the audience says, yeah, we get, it, we get it. The movie store doesn't sell tickets anymore. Yeah, we get it. Brett Pitt sold the tickets on this. Yeah. This was one of those things. Brad Pitt and a dog. Yeah, Brad Pitt and the dog. I think the dog
Starting point is 00:45:31 was a big, big selling. A hundred percent. But Brad Pitt and the dog. And they're like, okay, sure, and everybody went and said. Did you see this? I missed it. Yeah, I saw it yesterday. Good. Yeah, I'm putting a review out later today. Yeah, I really liked it. It's not as, you know, some people are getting way overboard with it. But I think it's a good movie, a good, solid movie. Pits good in it. I think they overused the military stuff a bit too much.
Starting point is 00:45:54 but the dog is... What do you know about the military? Yeah, exactly. What do I know about it? But the dog is the real standout. I mean, yeah, and Pitt's great. Pitt is great, but it's the dog that's really just phenomenal on the scenes they put him through.
Starting point is 00:46:07 And listen, David Eyre deserves a lot of credit. David Eyre has tapped into a certain vein of man-type movies that are becoming successful. And there is a market for that. Men are going, people are going to see these movies, just like his Jason Statham movies. and this movie, David Air has always done that. End of Watch, Fury.
Starting point is 00:46:30 These are films that have an overtly male point of view to them, and there is a market for it. So why not? I think it's great. I love David. It really was, yeah, that one shocked me, because that's one that I would have absolutely gotten wrong. I'd be like, that seems like a, that's one of those times I would have been wrong.
Starting point is 00:46:50 I would have been wrong. I would have been wrong. I would have said that seems like a streaming movie. to me. It's, you know, it's fun. I had that conversation tomorrow. If I, if I can, I'm supposed to see, I'm supposed, I am going to see Digger tonight. I'm doing that at three o'clock today too. Yeah, I'll be seeing that time. I'll be out of the theater. Then I'm seeing Verity tomorrow. But like, so I'm seeing that. And if I, I just don't know if I'm going to have enough time, but ideally what I would like to do is release my Brad Bird interview tomorrow morning. Yeah. What a cool dude.
Starting point is 00:47:22 that guy is man yeah i'm going to a screening of ray gun tomorrow night with brad bird doing a q and a in l a i'm driving up for it so i'm looking forward to watching your interview on the drive or listening your interview on the drive up yeah i should have it i should have it up right tomorrow because like he i mean he talks about everything he talks about everything um and he's and he's just and the reason i also bring that up is i said that you know there was the same conversation of just like are there certain things that belong on streaming are there things that should come out in the theater you know as a creative. I know that all directors really like that to have it. To have it in theaters, but is there a time that maybe it's,
Starting point is 00:47:58 it is just for streaming. So his answers were, were really well thought out. And he just, there are certain times, he's like, well, no, you might think that, but, and not that particular question, but just other things. And it was a great conversation. I'm excited for people to see it. So that'll, that'll drop tomorrow. But as far as the, the rest of the box office, end game doing what it did. Now, do you know how much long, longer it's gonna they're gonna run it in theaters so they know it's gonna i don't i don't i think they'll run it
Starting point is 00:48:24 as long as people keep coming to see it right and i think they want to like get to that three billion mark if they can but i don't know if it's possible yeah that's gonna be tough to do right because i think that because that's one of those movies that okay the re-releases out the people who really want to see it in the theater again and iamax again will go and see it in the theater opening weekend intervail's to just wait for it to drop on on Disney Plus and digital right yeah but I'll tell you I'd be lying if yesterday I was walking out of forgotten island I'm with my family and I saw and then just endgame you know playing the dinner is like oh man it would be cool to see it in IMAX the whole thing I went on Saturday I had such a great time with it because there was only there was only 8 10 people in the
Starting point is 00:49:11 theater oh wow okay 10 a.m in the morning and I was able to just sit back relax on the recliner and watch the film how the scenes don't tell me about the scenes but how were they uh the scenes are fine they're they're they're not going to give you too much one of them feels like a Disney park ride like you'd see it at Disney park ride a scene like that okay but they're all fine for what they do and I do hear that some people feel like it ruins the ending of end game I don't feel that way but you know it's up for people to decide for themselves okay these scenes yeah but they weren't like massive you know so nothing nothing that was really but does it get your hype going for the for Dume's day?
Starting point is 00:49:48 It does in terms of, yes, because you're getting a little more of the doom stuff. You do see Doom and there's Hulk stuff and then there's stuff that happens at the end. So yeah, yeah, and there's TVA stuff, which I think is really fun. Okay. Yeah, yeah. It sets everything up, but doesn't give away too much. Fair enough. What's everybody thinking about the box?
Starting point is 00:50:07 Oh, no, no, no. We forgot an island. We've talked about that. Yeah. Because how much was that budget? I'm going to guess I'm going to say 80 million. Yes, 80 million. Is that what it was?
Starting point is 00:50:15 Yeah, yeah. Wow. That was a complete guess. okay so 80 million which is fairly cheap for an animated film yeah yeah um so 80 million on that one and then it brings in 20 worldwide yeah right that's bad yeah that's bad it's got to have a a good week two which i just don't know if it will because it's like you got you have these movies that are coming out now all the oscar stuff's going to be coming out and you've got a couple big movies here and there but it's just i i think that the very
Starting point is 00:50:47 similar to what I said beforehand, I just don't know if the audience that saw it, that wanted to see it, already saw it. Yeah. And it's good. It's not like great. Great. Great is like, great is go, you got to go see that movie. Take the kids to see it. It's like, can you wait to see it at home?
Starting point is 00:51:08 Yeah, you can. Yeah. That's what I think. People, audiences are becoming savvy about animation as well. And they know which ones that they can wait on. it'll be streaming in like three weeks. And I think Forgotten Island is one of those ones that people have that. Plus, I don't think the promotion and the marketing.
Starting point is 00:51:24 I rarely say this because I actually don't think promotion and marketing are as big of a deal as some people make it seem for why a film doesn't do well. But I think in some cases it does apply. And I think in this case, I think it does apply. There wasn't a lot of marketing for this. There wasn't a lot of putting it out there. And I don't know what the reason for that is. I know they showed it at CinemaCon, but we're all, you know, we're people that
Starting point is 00:51:47 we're going to go to cinema con anyway. So you want to reach the people who are kind of outside that bubble. And I don't think I saw marketing for this like I saw for other animated films this year. So I'm not surprised. It only did 20 million. Yeah, it didn't. It just didn't deliver. I think that, you know, I was it was tracking at one point like 25, 30 million, but it came way under that. So, you know, it's a bummer because it's a sweet movie. It's a sweet movie. And I thought the end delivered pretty well. Anyway, so that's it. That's what we got for the box office. Curious what you guys
Starting point is 00:52:19 think, what stood out to you. Put your thoughts in there and let us know. I'll do one last... I'm happy for prime time. 20 million. I'm happy for that. I want to see that tomorrow. You're going to see that tomorrow? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's out in the theater. People can do that now.
Starting point is 00:52:32 So that's one I'll probably... That one I might just do a reaction to. Well, good. Cool. Yeah. Okay. Let's move over because this is a story that just dropped, and I don't know if you saw this John, did you see the Sean Levy stuff? No, what's going on? Well, don't, let me, I'll break it to you.
Starting point is 00:52:48 Don't look yet. Sounds good. Okay, we'll talk about it. We'll get your live reaction to it. All right, here we go. So, Variety saying that there's a big deal that has been made. Sean Levy enters a Disney overall deal after nearly a decade at Netflix. So, um, this makes sense to me already.
Starting point is 00:53:07 Sean Levy has set an overall deal at Disney's 20th century, sorry, 20th television after a long tenure on Netflix. again at 2017. He and his production company 21 laps entertainment will begin developing and producing projects at Disney in October of 2027. He is powerhouse filmmaker who first rose to prominence as a comedy director, though in recent years he's been best known for genre projects. At Netflix, he executive produced all five seasons of Stranger Things, directed several episodes in addition to writing and directing the 2022 Ryan Reynolds-led film, The Adam Project, and executive produced both seasons of the fantasy
Starting point is 00:53:40 series Shadow and Bone. Is that it? Hold on, no. Disney's relationship with Levy is not new. Most notably, he co-wrote and directed and produced the 2024 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Deadpole Wolverine. Several of his earliest successes were also at Disney. He began his career directing episodes of Disney Channel series, including the famous Jet Jackson, before going on Helm, 20th century projects such as cheaper by the dozen and the first three 19 museum films. His next two projects are already set. He is directing Lucas films Star Wars Starfighter and Marvel's Ghost Rider with both, with both, star Ryan Gosling. I mean, this makes all the sense in the world. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:19 They like working with him. Yeah, they like working with him. And I think, you know, he's already done the Netflix thing. And so why not try something new? Certainly with more potential money to come in for him as well and establish himself as a creative force even more firmly in Hollywood. Makes all the sense of the world. Do the Star Wars.
Starting point is 00:54:39 And they clearly like Starfighter. They're treating what they've been seeing from Starfight. They're treating them like the bell of the ball. It's like, okay, here's a Star Wars movie. Woo, thank you. That's great. What are you doing? We love your Star Wars movie.
Starting point is 00:54:53 Here's a Marvel movie. Woo, now what? Take a TV deal. What do you want to do now? He's like, all right, screw you. Netflix, I'm out of here. You know, I joke. He probably has a good relationship with them, but he's time to move on.
Starting point is 00:55:05 He's got a good opportunity. And he's earned it, and he's moved his way up the ladder. And now he's making deals. Now it doesn't necessarily mean that all the everything's going to hit. I mean, Starfighter does seem like people are enjoying it. It's not a guarantee that movie's going to resonate with fans and it's going to do well. Star Wars is in a damaged place. So if that happens, they're going to be like, oh, my God, what do we what do we do?
Starting point is 00:55:27 However, it could be the opposite of that and it could get Star Wars back on track. And if that's the case, then you get, then you're going into Ghost Rider with someone who's coming off of the first, like, what would everyone say is the first, what would everyone say is the first, is the first. first universe the last universally loved star wars movie in theaters rogue one rogue one road one right so so since rogue one that was that was that would be over by the time this movie comes out it would be over 11 years ago right because so 2016 was roguyen 16 oh wow yeah so it'll be it'll be yeah it'll be 11 years when that movie comes out that if you can get another university love star wars movie you're never going to get everyone all of it there's going to be people who hate it before they even see it
Starting point is 00:56:10 or even if they never see it. But if you can get 75% to 80% of people who see it to like it, you're in a good space. Yeah. Yeah. Well, we'll see. I mean, because remember Kathleen Kennedy handed Sean, heading to Ryan Johnson, a three picture deal, right?
Starting point is 00:56:27 It was going to do a new trilogy. Right. And then Starfighter came out or last Jedi came out. It was very divisive. Yeah. So we'll see. That's, that is, I mean, that is, that is the risk of doing that. Right.
Starting point is 00:56:39 It's like the, but here's, here's the question with that, right? It's that you look at, like, let's say Faloni saw it, everyone all saw it and said, yeah, this guy knows, he gets and he understands Star Wars. And this doesn't just mean he's doing the TV deal with Star Wars, though. You know, he's doing, he's doing TV with Disney, like Disney likes working with. So, you know, he can be doing, he can be doing original stuff. He can be doing other things, we'd be doing other IPs and things that they wanted to bring.
Starting point is 00:57:01 He might be able to wind up doing a live action, one of their live action movies. Who the hell knows? Yeah. This makes me see that maybe, you know, The reason Destin Daniel Crenton took that Sony deal is because they were lining Sean up for this deal. And there wasn't space to give Destin a full overall deal as well. So Destin saw the writing on the wall and took the deal from Sony. So that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:57:24 You know, makes sense. Doing what they need to do for themselves. Yeah. And, but it's the same thing with Destin is that the difference is that as much as, look, I like Wonder Man. It didn't do very well in the, in the ratings. But they green let it, nonetheless. So they were they were taking them kind of get ready to do a deal. And they love doing what he's doing.
Starting point is 00:57:46 Obviously, he worked inside of the MCU. But let's call it what it is. He made the most money for Sony. Right. Right. Like that's like that that Marvon, that move, that brand new day, it did good things for Marvel, but it did great things for Sony.
Starting point is 00:58:00 So Sony's like, hey, you guys don't want to lock this deal down with this guy? We're doing it now. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. So they did. And he's, he's another, they're both, they're both. look, you're, you're winning as a film fan when you have, like, the brand new talent director.
Starting point is 00:58:15 They're not brand new. They've been around forever. Yeah, but they're starting to be like the cream of the crop guys now. Yeah, Destin Daniel Crette and Sean Levy. Like all these guys, like it's like the, you know, the old school kind of legendary dogs, whether it's the Spielbergs and Scorsese and Tarantinos. They've had, they're still making their movies.
Starting point is 00:58:33 They've was going to love seeing them. It's like wrestling. Yeah. It's like, you got to get new talent. Who are the main. eventers right now and these guys are the main eventors exactly 100% yeah um all right look we're gonna we're gonna do some questions now and i'm gonna what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna have to bring on the the i guess the the the youtube side of things here because i um when i jumped out i lost a lot of
Starting point is 00:58:57 the questions and peel he's not here today so we can't highlight this oh i was wondering where the little bitch in a bubble was so he's not here today okay bitch in a bubble i haven't seen it for a whole hour Yeah, he's, yeah, he's out for, until I think Wednesday. He's got some stuff going on it. It is personal stuff. He'll be back. He'll be back. Oh, so, Luke, you're able to, do you have all these, Luke?
Starting point is 00:59:21 If Luke has all them, I didn't, let's see, because I'm going to go through. It's the first one, RIP to pack the man gravity. I can't, but there's Neville from the WWE. I can't believe. Yeah. What happened? There's a lot of rumors out there. They haven't announced what the reason is.
Starting point is 00:59:36 But I mean, I don't, the fact that David Shoemaker was a big wrestling guy tweeted out last night, make sure you let people know how much they mean to you, hug them close. To me, I think. Yeah, I think what we're going to hear is that he might have taken himself. Oh, okay. It's a shame. It's a shame. Well, we'll see.
Starting point is 00:59:54 Yeah, that's, uh, yeah, terrible. I didn't know as much about him. Um, yeah, except the WBE stuff, but from people who seem to really like, like, what he was doing. Yes. Yeah. A lot of people, yeah. Okay. So let's see. Luke, where is that one? Because Luke's, that's all the way up. You know what? Luke, just bring that. You can, because we're missing. Wait, are we missing? Hold on. So let me double check. No, you're right. No, Luke's right.
Starting point is 01:00:22 All right. I'm not sure how I feel about these choices for Star Wars. Simon Kimberg is very hit or miss writer than John Watts is an all right director, but these choices make you feel like they would definitely go family Star Wars with the movies. I don't think that's necessarily true, though. I don't think that that's true that they're going to definitely go family Star Wars with the movies now look mr. Penguin when it comes to the new trilogy there always has to be something because when you're going that big with the star's movie it has to be accessible to a lot of people right but like i don't think that no way home was a family star war family marvel movie there was some dark stuff in there that they did for sure um and i think
Starting point is 01:00:59 that they'll absolutely be able to do that kind of stuff with john watson and kinberg has gone dark with stuff saying remember the the note that i really have heard is that kinberg pinburg loves and loves it and definitely wants to go in that kind of vein whether or not they let him do that i don't know right i know that he wants to do he i know he i know he wants to go and or style that i know yeah but it's just a matter if they let him do that i do not know um yeah but yeah but i mean i i understand skepticism but it's like i i just think that to me you want a guy that can play ball and this guy plays ball well yeah this idea he's an all right director you know who know who's an all right director rennie harland is an all right i don't know watson is not an all right
Starting point is 01:01:42 right block in hell guys all right uh right next one okay let's see so resident thank you uh luke for managing this uh hang pimp resident evil ending was horrendous felt like a clown show took it from an eight to a six out of ten for me what are some awful movie endings for you guys um i I don't know if you're on the same page. I did not like the ending. I really enjoyed the movie. I wouldn't go to a six. It actually from,
Starting point is 01:02:09 it probably took me from a nine to an eight or maybe even something like that. But I really, I really enjoyed the movie. I really enjoyed it. I just did not like the ending at all. But there are movies, I can't, I mean,
Starting point is 01:02:21 I have to go back. It's always hard for me, Hank, when I, when I'm thinking in my head of, or on the spot of like, which movies just bombed the ending. And there's tons of them.
Starting point is 01:02:31 I just can't think of one at the top of my head. I mean, I would say League of Extraordinary Gentlemen bombed the ending. It was a decent movie until that ending. We were like, what the hell is happening here? So there's that. But of course, I disagree with Hank Pim. I think the ending was a fucking blast.
Starting point is 01:02:47 I loved it. Yeah, I thought it was absolutely great. But it's, you know, it's subjective. I didn't, I didn't. Yeah, of course. I'm more on the side with Hank on that one. Next one. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:02:57 Coheed, remember for two months. Rest and Peace Pack from EW. K. Neville and WWE gone to, definitely got to someone. How old was he like 30? 40 something. 40 something. Yeah, okay. It just wrestled the night before at I know I saw it. So it's crazy. A real bummer.
Starting point is 01:03:14 Hank, went to a movie where a guy was on his phone literally the entire movie. The whole movie and yelled at the screen like, don't go in there about five times. Look, it's one of the things that I just, why, I hate going to movies outside of the press screens. I will say yesterday, there are certain things like a phone thing if it's in if it's next to me or in my i i say something i go can you
Starting point is 01:03:36 lower that can you do that can that there's sometimes like you can't say anything even if you're annoyed like yesterday there was this she must have been in her late 60s early 70s this woman that was sitting next to me watching uh forgotten island and she just made noises the entire movie yep like hmm hmm hmm i can't say anything to that because she's reacting to the movie. And she's just, it's not paying attention that there's someone else sitting next to her. It's just a seven year old woman. Stop making noises, Grandma.
Starting point is 01:04:08 I can't do that. So like, there's something you just have to eat it. But like a phone, put the phone down. Yeah, I agree. I mean, I've been saying this for years. You know this. I've been saying this complaining people. I think COVID broke people, man. And they have no idea how to. Yeah. It was always a society anymore sometimes.
Starting point is 01:04:23 It's so frustrating. Yeah. It was always bad. So, yeah. And as far as crazy, crazy. Worst theater behavior in county. You've told this one quite often. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, I mean, people feed up and full on meals that they're cooked at home and everything. Tons of it, tons of it.
Starting point is 01:04:43 But it is a lot. I don't have the experience as much as I used to because I'm just, I normally, I just go to the press screenings. And people are pretty well behaved there. So, all right. That's the next one. Go, pal. Support for our first one of the year with our backup quarterback over the depending Super Bowl champion.
Starting point is 01:05:00 go um both have backups uh enrique enrata x-men is a long series can you sneak in once upon a time in hollywood with sam before jumping into that it's just one movie my favorite tarentino thanks i might have to do that with ming because right now what i'm going to do um with sam sam sam and i are going to do because we both haven't seen coyote versus acme and that drops tomorrow oh yeah so we're going to see that um we'll watch that and check that and that'll be a reaction for sure spider man's going to drop on digital is that this Tuesday or next Tuesday I think next Tuesday. So we'll be, we'll be checking that out. And then we have all the X-Men movies. So eventually we'll get to it for sure. Nice. All right. Fuzzy Bubbles part two. Oh, man, making a pleasure
Starting point is 01:05:40 to you. I do what I can. Thank you. And I responded to you on your, on your post. I saw, I saw it. And so I let you know your dad was a really strong member of this community. And he was really, uh, wonderful. It's always in here kind of spread in the word and having fun. And, and I'm so sorry for your loss and and just please please stick around with us and hang out with us. Yeah, so I can say that. I'm sorry. Enrique, prime time review. Also, when you watch it in Digger. Digger, I see tonight. Primetime, I most likely will wait and do a reaction on that one.
Starting point is 01:06:17 Okay. Yeah. Nathan, Heart of the Beast was great, but emotional as hell. I heard that too. One of the best dog movies I've seen. I don't cry much in movies, but it destroyed me by the end. Would you agree with that, John? Yeah, I think so. Yeah, it's very emotional at the end. I mean, I kind of saw it coming, but it still gets you. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, the dog is, because the dog is amazing. Yeah. Yeah. Just giving everybody an update as far as once again, trying to get to that goal. And we're at over 1,300 backers right now. We're at 185.791. What I would love to see if possible, if you haven't donated, if you can, and you're, you're at 1,300 backers right now. We're at 185, 791. What I would love to see if you can. And you, want to back the project. I'm putting it out there now. If we can get to right now, before the end of the show, rather, if we can get to 186 when we sign off, that would be amazing. Let's see. Hold on. Okay. Let's see. And you know what? Oh, the other thing I guess I should talk
Starting point is 01:07:15 about, too, is my birthday is Thursday, right? It's October 1st. Oh, yeah. Is October 1st? That Friday, I don't remember. It's Thursday, Thursday. Yeah. So October 1st is my birthday, I think what I'll do, instead of doing, I think that I've changed my plan a little bit, and I was going to do three, 10-hour streams. And I think that the first one we already did. The second one, the second one, I think it'll be my birthday stream. And I'll go, I'll probably go like maybe three to five hours. We'll be the second stream. And then we'll close out with a 10-hour for the final day of the campaign. Nice, dude. Yeah. Palo Luritz. Nope. Palo Ortiz. I think I got that one better, right? Much better. I
Starting point is 01:07:54 feel sad for forgotten island being a Filipino being represented. I do hope it'll get legs with word of mouth. Love the movie. More power Christian. Thank you, Palo. I think that it will on digital. I think it will. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:07 Ray. Ray ho. Wow. Today is the day. The day finally happened. I don't want to hear about Star Wars things. I'm interested in any other movies like serious movies, even movie trivia.
Starting point is 01:08:18 Wow. Yeah. So, right. I mean, so you're talking about with Smodown stuff? I mean, yeah. So how do you donate? Hold on, Doctor. You go, I mean, just, so basically, Dr. Stephen, when you go to, when you go to our show is trending.com, and when you go there, it says, back this project, you can pick one of the tiers and back the project right there.
Starting point is 01:08:40 Okay. Ray, yeah, Ray, let me know. You're talking about Shmode and stuff. All right, next one. Parker Haller, I don't think Star Wars needs a safe, non-stylish company man. I think audiences general want not just new stories with stylish filmmakers and blockbusters. I mean, that's not necessarily untrue, but I think that, first of all,
Starting point is 01:08:56 non-stilist company man, company man more so is, but here's Roy Parker that I got to disagree with you a little bit too. They need a company man right now. They do. But not someone's just going to say, yeah, sure, I'll shoot whatever you want.
Starting point is 01:09:09 I think, unfortunately, as much as I like him, I think Gareth Edwards has kind of turned into that kind of, what do you want me to do? You should drastic work. I'll fine, I'll shoot it like this. What do you want me doing? I don't show it like that.
Starting point is 01:09:17 But then he can do his own thing and make it pretty interesting. But Sean Levy is going to, is a guy that can play inside the Star Wars playground and know the material and make some choices and bring out the emotion and things. So the audiences want to feel all of those emotions and they also want it to feel like old school Star Wars. And that's what they're going to have. There's a reason why Dooms Day is going to make the money that it's going to make is because it's the familiar side of things is bringing back people. And people can go, well, we want new things.
Starting point is 01:09:45 People aren't going to see the new things. And in order to get the new things going again, because I'm all for them. I would much rather see an old Republic trilogy. I'd love to see that. It's just, A, it's not going to happen. And B, it would be so hard to get new audiences to go, oh, what's that? Let me see, because there's no trust with the Star Wars audience right now.
Starting point is 01:10:03 This kind of director will bring trust back. I will say, I don't know what you're talking about. John Watts is neither safe nor non-stylish nor a company man. He's a good damn director who made three Spider-Man movies. When people were saying, and some of you have amnesia, people were saying we don't need it's too soon we don't need another star or spider man movie we don't need another trilogy and he actually knocked it out of the park sam ramy couldn't finish a trilogy neither could uh what's his face who did the uh the amazing spider man couldn't finish true right get to a
Starting point is 01:10:38 mark web yeah so mark web right so give respect where respect is due and that's with john watson in those three spider man movies this revisionist history is insane to me i don't know when everyone started turning on john watson Because they want to be cool. Look, everyone else is angry at him. I'm going to be angry at him too. It's weird. Get out of here.
Starting point is 01:10:59 Go pal. Yeah, Giants pick up J.A.U. from bikes. I saw that. I saw that. Aram V. Somehow. Palpatine returned. My favorite is, you know, Josh Horwitz got, not him to talk about that.
Starting point is 01:11:12 It was great. It was great. That was great. Joy of Love Movies, Man. Love the Hat, man. My dad is Charles Mann. Oh, oh. Shut up. Is your dad really Charles, man?
Starting point is 01:11:22 Look at that. Tell him he's a hero of mine. I love Charles, man. He did it right. If he's really your dad, tell him he's got a massive fan. Look at his title. Look at the title. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:34 Dude, that's amazing if your dad's Charles. 71 was the man, bro, in so many ways, pun intended. I'm going back to see the game in November for them retiring Riggins' number. I hope Charles is there as well, man. I would love an introduction, though. How cool is that? You never know. Between that, by the way,
Starting point is 01:11:52 and that was really cool to have Charles Mann's son in here too. Yeah. I don't know if he watches anymore, but you know whose son used to watch the show all the time? The honky talk man's son used to watch her show. Hey! He's still one of my favorite intercontinental champions of all time, ever. Ray Dominguez, Ray Ho, I feel I should clarify.
Starting point is 01:12:08 I think John Watts is amazing. I don't really have faith in the Star Wars Company. I'm with you there. Yeah, I'm with you there. That's my point. They've lost the audience's trust right now. And that's what they, they have to do everything possible.
Starting point is 01:12:20 to get the audience's trust back. They just don't have it. There's too many stinkers. There's too many things that they made silly choices. They made bad shows. They made, you know, announcements of projects that never happened. They lost directors behind the same. I mean, it's a mess.
Starting point is 01:12:36 But maybe they're actually cleaning the mess up. But we'll have to, Starfighter is the first one. A win with Starfighter isn't like, oh, Star Wars is back. No. As many as the everything awesome. some channels want to say that it is it's it won't be they need they'll have goodwill he's like okay what do you because then the audience first will be this it'll go okay it was good now what you got right that's that's going to be the that that should be the reaction to most people then it's episode
Starting point is 01:13:08 10 is great that's pretty good what else you got to make a roll yeah and then 11 it's like all right you guys now now you're fire what is this real what's happening and then if 12 delivers and it's great like holy shit If you can get, if you can go, boom, boom, boom, boom, that's how you get them back. But that's why, that's why they got to do a trilogy. I think it, I think it makes sense. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:28 A very good point. Parker, Holler. Basim, Terry said Marvel tells director. This is a Marvel film directed by a person. Oh, this is, that was during the, for Blade, right? This is a Marvel film directed by a person. That's Watts with Spider-Man. That's why he's a lame, safe choice.
Starting point is 01:13:45 I don't know. I don't think that's true for Spider-Man. I don't think that's true. I think and I don't and I also don't necessarily agree with Tariq I think that sometimes that is true that you know that they do there's certain times of for you know in his experience that very well might have been true because in the way that you and I always talk about um Gavin Hood right yeah how certain directors can get bullied by the system and can be like okay great you're directing a Marvel movie now we're just going to slap your name on it and this is ours good luck and I don't think it doesn't happen but to say that that it happens every single time. Oh, he's saying that Marvel tells director straight out. It's a Marvel film directed. I think that sometimes that very well might be true, but I don't think it happens all
Starting point is 01:14:28 the time. I don't think it happens with like Coogler. I don't think it happened with, you know, Russo brothers. James Gunn. Right. So I certainly didn't happen with Sam Ramey. I'll tell you that right now.
Starting point is 01:14:39 Right. That was the Sam Ramey movie that happened to have some Marvel stuff at it. So it doesn't happen all the time, but I think it happens. I think it's a case-by-case thing. Case by case, 100%. And John is not a lame, safe choice. No, Poot Shoot, Riot. Just put my money into the Kickstarter.
Starting point is 01:14:58 Thank you, Poochoochut. Good weekend to be a Cleveland fan. Roken. Did you get RE4 yet? Oh, is it a Resident Evil 4? Is that a new game? Not yet. Best wishes to all you and kick ass with the show.
Starting point is 01:15:09 Thank you so much. I'm going to do a check here. Also, Poochoo. Right now, we're 185-791, looking to jump to that one. Oh, I'm just kidding. It's at 186. 116. Hey, you guys got us to 186. So hell, man.
Starting point is 01:15:22 John, with 40 minutes, do you think we can actually get to 187 now with this crew? Let's see. Unbelievable. Alexander Wilson, Kinberg, if you look at his resume, he hasn't been involved creatively with anything good since Days of Future Pass, which released 2013 and 2026 now. I mean, like I said, you can also say the same thing about the Rousseau's, right? Rousseau have not done anything good outside of, I mean, some of the stuff is okay on Netflix. But they haven't done anything great inside of,
Starting point is 01:15:50 out in Netflix, like anything great, right? But they have not missed in Marvel. Right. Kenberg, no Star Wars. So give him a shot.
Starting point is 01:16:00 Yeah. All right. What's next? I think Truvara was fired because he couldn't crack the story after Carrie Fisher died because Leah was such a huge part of his story. That also might be true, Zach,
Starting point is 01:16:11 but that might be true. But the point is that he was at least trying to connect what Ryan and and JJ gave to him as where Ryan and JJ were just like, nah, I'm doing my own thing. No thanks. I don't care what you put, sure,
Starting point is 01:16:24 a little bit of the setup, whatever, that's fine. Okay, yeah, gave me that, then I'll take that. Now I'm going to do this.
Starting point is 01:16:29 And they were not on the same page. And, yeah, and it was my favorite was when, JJ did not like what Ryan did. Did not. Not at all. No,
Starting point is 01:16:38 and I remember being, and I know that. And I remember coming back on, on Jeddick Castle report saying that. You don't know. Jay, love what Ryan did. He says it in the,
Starting point is 01:16:48 news and it's like you're an imbecile if you think yeah you're an imbecile he's like you can you can see it in the work yeah he's like it's like even even like the lines he gave to luke to basically combat the stuff that he did in the first place and i wouldn't be surprised at mark hamill probably said can we say something about some of the stuff that i did in that last movie because he hated it hamill's been very open about it to stuff oh yeah 100% yeah so uh anyway what's uh was that uh uh guzman hey so can i get my five bucks back from i thought the outlaw had gone old and soft i'll settle with an outlaw win for la rasa bad ass a holmes what is that so can i get my five bucks back from oh yeah because he before you because it was a work i told her he he got he got work that's
Starting point is 01:17:36 right we've been doing this a long time you know what's hilarious i mentioned this the other day Because right now we're doing we're running season three on them on the vault channel. Nice. And I can't remember even recently. Some guy was like, you know, I'm just to let you know. I watched Schmowdown like a while. And then I bailed when the wrestling storyline started coming into it. And I'm like, so you bailed when it started or you bailed in season three?
Starting point is 01:18:02 He's like, no, no, cluttered stuff. It didn't happen for so much. It didn't happen. It's a way down the road. And I'm like, okay, because I'm watching. season three right now. And Finstock just left McCuga in the post
Starting point is 01:18:16 interview and called him a loser because he wanted to join and leave the mega powers. And he's going, he's like, come on, Mega Powers, come on. And he walks out, he goes, you're a loser. He's like, he's like, you see my shirt, Dumbo drop. You're Dumbo and I got to drop you. And he walks off the thing.
Starting point is 01:18:31 And there's you, the whole it's where you built your whole character was in season three. And it's like, what, what, what, what show are you watching? I'm like, because it's a whole, the whole season is just storylines. The whole season. People bitch about the storylines. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:18:46 It would have never been successful the way it was without the storylines. No, dude. I aired the LA Comic-Con thing that we did, which is essentially the first live event we ever did. The pop you got when, I don't know if you remember that. That was like the first time you ever debut the outlaw in front of a live crowd was the LA Comic-Conn thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:03 And you were the reigning team champion at the time. Yeah. And you guys came out. And you got your own kind of. kind of you, I brought you out purposely at the end. And they were going nuts. They were going nuts. And it was like because of the storylines.
Starting point is 01:19:18 Yeah, storylines. Yeah. Massive. Yeah. Paul. Me seeing Star Wars episode 10 is coming. Stop. Stop. Stop. It's already dead.
Starting point is 01:19:25 Seriously. I hope it's good. But I'm kind of done at the moment. Hard to get excited. Well, you kind of contradicted yourself a little bit there. Because seeing Star Wars episode is coming. Stop. Stop.
Starting point is 01:19:35 Okay. It's already dead. Okay. That's a statement. Seriously. I hope it's good. Well, no, it's not dead then, right? If you hope that it's good, dead means dead.
Starting point is 01:19:45 Can't be good if it's dead. You're like, I'm tired with it. I'm bored with it. They've lost me because we just said before that they've lost all trust. So I just can't, I just don't, I don't respond to when people say a friend, anything is in movies and stuff. It's very hard for IPs to completely be dead. They can be in real bad shape, but to be completely dead, like I always rent a cobra cut. karate kid.
Starting point is 01:20:09 Oh, karate kid's dead. You can't do anything with a karate kid and then eight seasons later or whatever. You know, I'm kind of done at the moment.
Starting point is 01:20:15 That's fair. Hard to get excited. All fair. But it's just, I always push back, Paul, on the, on the,
Starting point is 01:20:21 is dead thing? Because it's not. It's clearly not. If the movie, even the fact, look, Mandelarian and Grogue didn't do well, but it still made what?
Starting point is 01:20:32 200 million? Yeah. Something like 300 million? That's not dead. Dead is 10. 10 million, 2 million, right? That's dead. It didn't do well, but it's not dead. It hurting, in trouble.
Starting point is 01:20:46 On life support, not yet, but it's in trouble. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, it was next. Roka, read a book. That's not reparations, buddy. That's not as Vaseline. It was a joke, it was a joke, you utter waste of space. Don't do it, don't do it.
Starting point is 01:21:03 You oxygen thief. Don't do it. Oxygen thief. I've never heard that before. That's good. All right. Currently, by the way, guys, everyone, 186, 116.
Starting point is 01:21:16 This is, I mean, this is pretty special. I think we're going to get pretty close, at least this week. And then, you know, if you can join us on a birthday stream, like I said, I gave, I'm giving everybody the gift. We're doing the 16 person regardless. We just, well, not regardless. We definitely have to raise something.
Starting point is 01:21:32 But we have to, we have to hit our initial goal. But I'm not, I'm not going to hold. hold your feet to the fire on the 29th, although it would be a really special gift that we could get there tonight so I can stay true to that. Tim Sim. First, I saw prime time yesterday, and no doubt it's Patent's his best work,
Starting point is 01:21:49 but also a really, really great feature debut from director Lance Oppenheim after working on documentaries such as Renfair. You're going to see that tonight, John? Oh, which one? Prime time. Yeah, no, I'm going to see tomorrow. Tomorrow. Because I'm seeing, I'm seeing Digger at 3 o'clock.
Starting point is 01:22:03 Oh, right. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, I'm... Maybe I'll do a double. Maybe I'll do it right after Digger since we'll be at a theater anyway. Maybe. What are you hearing about Digger? I'm hearing very split things. My friend saw it yesterday at an industry screening in L.A. And he texted our chain of geek buddies immediately.
Starting point is 01:22:21 And he was just like, I can't say anything about the movie, but it is not the movie they pitched us in the trailers. So I, by the way, by the way, that is exactly. I had a weird. There was Netflix at the end of when I had the interview with, we did, we did like, we had, We were able to have, we had this little dinner. And it was this restaurant in New York and this critic, I don't, I don't remember his name, but he was, he essentially said the same thing what you just said. And then I said, well, you know, he's like, I can tell you what the different, what it is.
Starting point is 01:22:53 He's like, it's not, it's not a, he's like, you should know this kind of going in because you don't, it's a different movie. And so I went, I said, you know what? Tell me. Because it's not a spoiler to the movie. Because he said, they tell you right away. He's like, but it's just not the movie. And I said, that's going to be.
Starting point is 01:23:07 make a lot of people angry what it is do you do you know what it is no i don't and i don't want to i won't i won't tell you i don't i won't i won't tell you what though i am glad that i know because i'll watch it differently now because i if if i would have found this out watching it i would have been mad oh okay i would have been mad so i'm curious because it's like it's it's from what from what he told me it's it's not even the same movie yeah yeah yeah yeah what is that why would you do Yeah, it's a curious marketing strategy. I got to see it. Tim Sim.
Starting point is 01:23:42 Oh, thank you, Tim. Fiona George, what are we talking about that John Watts is a bad choice for Star Wars? The MCSpect Spider-Mint Tril is one of the best trilogy is what the effort people are talking about driving me nuts. I'm with you on this. I don't get it. I don't know why they turned on them all of a sudden, especially with all, I mean, after No Way home was like one of the most successful and well-loved movies. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:01 Zach Stevens. Will Grogu be in episode 10? If it's, you know, the fact, the fact that Philon is. is running it, he might be in one of them. He might be in one of them. I feel like it's, it's a definite. He might be, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:24:15 But at that point, he's got to be talking. If there's more, if there's more baby noises, dude, I'm going to, I'm going to lose my shit. How long is this freaking thing going to have baby noises for? I mean, no more. We get it. It was cute. Start talking. They're just, they're just terrified because you can get away with baby noises.
Starting point is 01:24:40 but if the voice doesn't work when they start he starts talking then it's going to be the shits uh alexander wilson nielsen put out star war streaming data for 2025 and the sequels and solo were not in the top 10 most watched star wars property the most watched star was rogue one did the sequels not age well they definitely didn't age well no no they definitely didn't age well i mean i i i am glad that sam and i are waiting to watch those before starfighter because i don't i just I don't get excited about them. Like, I liked Force Awakens when it came out, but the reason why Force Awakens has gone down for me
Starting point is 01:25:15 is because I know what comes next. And it's just a, it's just a, you know, it's a letdown. Yeah, yeah. Tim, he's a big one. Second, I'm on board with John as a director for episode 10 after his great work on the Spidey MCU films. The only concern lies on Kidberg as a writer, obviously. It's fair.
Starting point is 01:25:31 But the hope I have from what Star Wars told me is that he also wrote X-Men, Days of Future Pass, and the Martian. Great. I mean, that's, I mean, that is the thing. you hope and he gets star wars so that he he's got a good mind for star wars he does yeah plus philominy is overseeing this thing so it's not like he's although philomis gonna be like whatever simon rights all okay with you know they're gonna work together and they worked together for like the first time i ever interviewed phelone was with kinberg and it was at i was sweating balls in san diego at comic end was when they were going to launch rebels and i sat down
Starting point is 01:26:03 with the two of them and it was for like when i was spike tv and i and i and i And I talked to them about this. And they both were like bouncing off each other and talking Star Wars. And it's like the relationship that Filoni has with Favro now, that's what he had with Kinberg back then. And I wonder if, you know, they worked together well in the past. And Kinberg came in and sat down with Dave. I mean, Dave is a huge part of why Kimberg is doing this.
Starting point is 01:26:30 There's no doubt about it. Yeah. Yeah. I agree with you there for sure. Yeah. All right. John DX Dragon. I'm sorry, but Watts definitely feels like a safe choice.
Starting point is 01:26:38 None of his Spider-Man films won me like Ramey. Oh, you say, see, that's, that's, that's, that's style preference for sure. Dustin, Creighton made Holland give a second choice. Creighton's also a better pick for episode 10. Well, Creighton's going to be busy. Creighton also maybe doesn't want to do it. And I don't know what necessarily is if that's, um, the case right now because, like I said, Watts is in the, in the family and has it already worked with Lucas.
Starting point is 01:27:00 There's a machine that, not the creton couldn't come in and learn it pretty fast, but like Watts is already in the machine and worked with these guys before and paid attention to it. So I think that that's, that's one thing. I mean, this is all subjective stuff. The Ramey stuff seems so dated to me. And it's so corny and cheesy to me. But obviously, John, not to you. Like you, that's what you respond to.
Starting point is 01:27:25 I like the, I like the, the Watts trilogy way better than I like the Ramey trilogy. But that's not, that's not everybody. I agree with you. I'm in your boat. I would, I would never put on the. ramy stuff anymore and I do put on the John Watt stuff I like that more I just think it it's aged better I think for the time that it was in there were great movies and they set the stage for other superhero movies and they should be they should be commended for everything that
Starting point is 01:27:49 they did but there's there's some really goofy shit going on in those movies yes yeah uh what's next next next next time okay Tim Sim correction to the last Star Wars trilogy fans no I got it I got it um okay let's see next one here I'm just doing a real check for everybody again Again, we're at 186, 116, 116, as we're trying to get to the race of 187. Before we sign off today, that would be amazing if we can do it. It's our show is trending.com trying to reach that 200 goal. We are almost at 90, I think 92% or something, too. It's pretty damn good.
Starting point is 01:28:26 John, Harlow, if I agree with you, aside from my opinion, Star Wars needs to win its audience back first before they can start taking bold takes 100%. Definitely a lesson DC can learn from just saying, well, DC's in a different spot right now, too. Because right now, movie-wise, they're one for two. Yeah. One for two.
Starting point is 01:28:44 But, you know, they're killing it right now with lanterns. And we'll see what happens when Manna Tomorrow comes out. What were they talking about? People were talking about. People were bored with that episode last night. I like that episode. I didn't like episode six. But episode seven, I dug.
Starting point is 01:28:59 I shouldn't say I didn't like it. It was just kind of dull for me. Seven, seven delivered. I thought really well. I like the backstory stuff that they did and the leading in date, but I saw a lot of people like, oh, nothing happened.
Starting point is 01:29:11 I was like, did you watch the episode? Yeah, news flash. Some people are morons, newsflash. Well, but I mean,
Starting point is 01:29:17 let me make some morons, not everybody, but like, I thought it was a, I just liked the episode. Tim, second correction. I meant Kenberg doing the Martian,
Starting point is 01:29:26 great as one of the producers, not as a writer. Yeah, I mean, as John and I were saying them, too, he's not just doing it by himself. you know he's gonna right and he's he's not like the main guy like a lot of times he was like the main guy
Starting point is 01:29:38 now i'm doing this and i'm doing that is like well dave goes well actually do this instead and do that can we do that do that that's gonna happen so i it's gonna be a team effort for sure yeah if we're looking at producing with kenberg you're looking at the martin deadpool logan and those uh those um poor row films with brano which i like so he's got if we're looking at producing he's got he's got some shots yeah it was good yeah uh shay mark The military stuff and beast felt a bit tryhard after a point. Yeah. But I enjoyed the movie.
Starting point is 01:30:08 Some really fun man versus wild with a boy and his doggo. Yeah. Yeah, I'm on board with it. I think those of us have been in the military. We feel that when it's a little too much, like listen, we always love when people say, it's very humbling when people say, thank you for your service. But that's not why we do it, right? And so it's very nice.
Starting point is 01:30:27 But when people play to it too much, it does get a little like you're using us now. And that's where I think the movie a couple of times got into that territory. Okay. Still a good movie. Next one. Alexander Wilson, the main problem of Star Wars is that if you take away the Gilroy Star Wars, the rest has been about nothing. There are no themes or ideas in this properties.
Starting point is 01:30:46 I mean, you're right. You're right. And Rogue One is part of that. And Rogue One actually felt like it's the only thing that actually really feels like it still fits into the rest of it all. And minus a couple mentions. And you know where they really think that they draw, drop the ball and where they could have grabbed from the Force Awakens.
Starting point is 01:31:06 Is that whole scene with Ray when she first discovers that box and you hear Obi-Wan at the end, this is your first steps. Like that was like, oh, what are they going to do with Obi-Wan? What are they going to do with Obi-Wan? Because E. E. O'Hen McGregor is jumping to do more Star Wars stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They should have used him.
Starting point is 01:31:23 They should have tied that stuff back in. They should have figured out a way to do that. And they just, it just was all too sloppy. like, oh, we just want to completely just detach completely from the old trilogy. And it's like, no, no. It's like, we're going to stick Luke on an island in the middle of the end of it. And you see him for a split second. And then he's going to be a douche on the loose in the next one.
Starting point is 01:31:44 All right, what's the next one? Frank, Watts is a great pick for Star Wars. It's so funny how split the audience. Yeah, yeah. Won't be as visionary as Villeneu, June like I was hoping. I'm with you. I don't think Star Wars can do that right now. And I, it would be, I, look, I would love something like that in Star Wars.
Starting point is 01:32:05 But it's just, they'd be scared shitless to try to do it. But no doubt he'll make a fun Star Wars movie that makes a ton of money and we'll get back the excitement of the Force Awakens, I guess. So I hope that's true. I hope that's true. And, and I think that's why you bring a guy in like that, Frank, for sure. Yeah. That's a crazy take.
Starting point is 01:32:24 Again, hold on. You can bring this back up in a second. It's subjective. And I'm not calling it. That's a. crazy day. And Sasuki is a bit, is a, is a really good, is a great fan and someone who's in your debate all the time. But I, I, that's one that I would like to be sitting across
Starting point is 01:32:42 you, drinking a beer, saying that how insane I think you are. But it's your opinion. Ron H. This is video evidence. You ever give a ballpark estimate of when I get my Hollywood react with Sam? Don't know if you said it before I may have. Let, let me wrap the campaign up first. And then, and then that's one of the, we're going to, we're We have a lot of things that we're going to owe people, and that'll be one of them. But I gave you my word. I'll do it. Man Sinister McHale, of course, Harlow is seeing Verity.
Starting point is 01:33:07 Two Brunette's kissing. It's hilarious. Saw a pack at an AEW event weeks back. He flipped off the crowd and I gave him a thumbs up. Yeah, it's really sad. Really, really sad. Yeah, what is that? Anne Hathaway and Dakota.
Starting point is 01:33:20 Oh, you man, I like both of them. Yeah, I like both of them. So I'll be happy. Carlton Rudder. To a less of a move. Yeah, well, I'll be there. I'll let you know how to. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:27 Carlton, London, London, calling. And congrats, Christian, on 185K thus far. Proud to have been a day one donor. You sure were loving the lanterns watch along on both your channels. Thank you. Thanks. Thanks to both you. Again, I'll give you an update right now, everybody.
Starting point is 01:33:41 So again, stuck on 186-116. Oh, I'm kidding. 186-236. Just jumped up by a little there, a lot there. So thank you. 186-236, not too far away. Thank you guys so much. All right.
Starting point is 01:33:56 Next one. Dennis. What's up, man? Christian, John, big fan, fellas. I know, Dennis, you're the man. John Watts, pre-wolves, and skeleton crew would have blown my mind. Now it feels less exciting, but I'm open-minded. What's pre-wolves?
Starting point is 01:34:12 Well, Wolfs is the movie on Apple that he did. Oh, his. Okay. Okay. With Clooney and I think. Oh, no, no, I did see that one. I didn't love that movie. I didn't love that movie.
Starting point is 01:34:20 Did Watts do that? I didn't realize what he directed that. Yeah, I didn't love that movie. People did dig it. I didn't. But I'm with you, John. Dennis, I know what you're saying. So, Skeleton Crew would have
Starting point is 01:34:30 my mind now it feels less excited but i'm open-minded hope boyega comes back and gets garfield spidey love remember though with skeleton crews much as like i i i've tried to watch that show i think five times and i just couldn't get past like not that it was bad i just it just it just wasn't for me just i just like ah um he did the assignment they gave him right he's like what what do you guys to feel like i want to feel like goonies in space and this and any and from what people say people i mean saul won't shut the hell up about it saul loves it right Yeah. So he did, he did the, and everybody who talks about the show really enjoys it. I just, I thought it was good. Yeah, I really liked it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:35:06 I just, yeah, so, um, so he did the assignment. All right, what's next one. Tim, I feel like the opposite of Ray. I really enjoy stuff from Star Wars lately. Interesting. Which worked for me several here and least a half fan base. I just don't have faith in Kinberg, shrugs. Oh, okay. That's, that's fair. Tim. I just, I don't know what, I mean, I don't think I've loved anything except, um, and or. And I mean, I'd like, I did like the Darth Mall. Yeah, that was good, sure. Everything else you could have thrown out, never brought back, and I wouldn't care. May landlord in season one and season two were really good too.
Starting point is 01:35:39 But everything else you could have gotten rid of. And I think all the rest of that stuff is damaged the brand completely. All right, next one. Nathan Drake, you think if Ryan Johnson would have kept going and done the third movie, would it have just been as divisive or would he have changed anything from last night? Oh, you would have been more divisive. If he would have kept going, yeah. Because people, people, I'd never seen it.
Starting point is 01:36:00 I always tell the story. But when we were doing Shmows, no, the first time I had ever seen, like, a vicious fan base ever was when Mark didn't like Man of Steel. Yeah. And they just went after him. And I said, oh, man, those DC fans are ruthless. Because Marvel was in the, you know, was in their prime or going through.
Starting point is 01:36:25 And everybody loved, you know, there was no, there was no Marvel people. And that's like, Star Wars, at the time, Star Wars is the happiest fandom in the world of being. I loved it. I was like, I was living in a very naive place. And everybody loved it. And then once the last Jedi came out, it was like two divisions. It was like, it was like, everybody used to be Jedi. Then it was just Jedi and Sith all over the place.
Starting point is 01:36:50 And it was, it was crazy. It just split and it's never come back. No, not fully. Not fully. No. The Mandalorian brought. people back together, but then the last few years, the cracks have began, and then all those YouTube channels which need the division in order to make their money, they stoke the fires of
Starting point is 01:37:07 division. So, you know, yeah, it is what it is now. Yeah. I do think, though, sometimes, too, the problem, one of the things that hurts, though, too, is I, and I've said this before, I think the everything awesome crowd hurts Star Wars as much, not in the same way, but I think, I think they hurt Star Wars a lot, too, because if you just love it, oh, no, no, it doesn't matter what it is. Oh, it's the best. I find the positivity. all of it. It's the best. It's the best. If you do that, they're going to go, oh, see, everybody loves it's just the people who don't like it. They don't know what it is. It's like, no. It's like, you got to be able to say, it's like, look, I love the Yankees. Yankees make some shit choices
Starting point is 01:37:41 make some time, sometimes. And you got to say, oh, why did they put that person out in that position there? Why did they do them in the lineup? Why do they do that? You have to be able to say, you got to do it in a positive way, but you got to be able to critique your team because you just say, oh, no, no, no, it's the best. Everything's so good about it. I love it. It's like, okay, Keep giving them shit. Yeah. It's okay to critique something. It doesn't mean you hate it,
Starting point is 01:38:04 and it doesn't mean you should leave the thing you're critiquing. I agree with you, Wiley, it might be too late, but I would love a video on the Kickstarter add-on for how to interview, how to interview in a more conversation way like you do, Christian, want to get better interview more music or...
Starting point is 01:38:17 Well, we kind of have that in there. There's the one-on-ones with me in there, and that's stuff that you can ask. You know, so if you're in there for like that one-on-one tier, that you have with me. That's something, I mean, I'm all for helping people with that. So, you know, one of the things you could probably do inside of that, too, is just practice
Starting point is 01:38:39 in that call. So that's just something to, I mean, it is in there, really. You just got to, that's what I would tell people. If you have the one-on-one option, do it, what Wiley just did there, have like an agenda to say, okay, I'd really want to know this. Bring that in there. That's totally, that's totally fine, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:55 All right, what's next? PJ, I know that Kenberg looks like a weird choice, People forgot he was involved with rebels, right? Which is one of the best things in modern Star Wars. In storytelling aspect, it absolutely was, and he was. And I think he was involved. And PJ, you can correct me on this. I thought he was only involved in season one,
Starting point is 01:39:11 but maybe he, you know, he's a producer under the whole way through, but heavily involved in season one, I could be wrong. I could be wrong. Either way, that was a good season. It was, no, he was very, he knows Star Wars. H.R. White, 0803, saw Heart of the Beast this weekend. unknown teenage boy next to my wife, openly weeping at the end. Oh man,
Starting point is 01:39:30 not sure last time I saw that in that theater. Movie is good. Not great. That's fair. That's the emotionally, anytime the dog, obviously something happens is the dog. So, all right, what's next?
Starting point is 01:39:43 Seattle, K.O. I rewatched the Revenant and Birdman last night. They're excellent films. Suffice to say, I'm jazz for Digger and hoping to Rotsu can pull it off again. I really am glad that I know what I know, because I'm going to go into it a very different way today when I go to see it that I go to see it,
Starting point is 01:39:56 that I would have not and I would have been like what is that yeah yeah has he missed I mean what else has he done digger bardo I loved bardo but I think oh I didn't see porno yeah you have to be I think you have to be like for me as the son of immigrants because that's what it's talking about right you're not you're not Latino enough you know you're not American enough like to me I loved bardo okay um Revenant birdman uh beautiful which uh Bardem got nominated for Babel, 21 grams, which is pretty brutal film. And the modus pegers, which is the one that really announced it. Okay.
Starting point is 01:40:34 I don't think he misses. So we'll see. We'll see. Let's see. No, that's not. You guys got to listen. You got to listen. They got to listen.
Starting point is 01:40:46 Luxury YouTube channel is talking about what they like is and what causes a franchise to go to shit. No one said that. It's way more complicated. No, no, no. I don't want to make fun of them. I'm going to do it. No, but no one said, you got to listen, though. I love comments and I love when people are talking about things that we're saying here,
Starting point is 01:41:03 but you have to listen and don't just type because listen to the whole thing. And what I said was one of the things that is also part of it is that it also heard. Of course, if I said that it was the only reason that positive people, talking positive about it is the only reason it went to shit, then I'm an imbecile. The hate channels and all those things. And of course, that fucking brings it down to the, Because it pushes people away from wanting to even get involved in the conversation about it.
Starting point is 01:41:33 The bad decision making by executives, the terrible decision making by creatives, the going after certain things because of stats and money ball. There's so much more into it. That was one stat night. One stat. You can't, you got to, but just come on. If we're going to debate about it, you got to listen to the whole thing. Please, I beg of you.
Starting point is 01:41:51 Yeah. If you're overly positive, then nothing needs to change. Nothing needs to be fixed. how does that make any sense? Right. That doesn't make any sense. Not the only thing. Negative or overly positive.
Starting point is 01:42:00 It's not helpful. But it's not the only thing that is, if that was the only thing, if I said that was the only thing, what a dope I would be. Sundelvel Roadrunner, how different would the perception of Star Wars be if they never made those prequels? The prequels or the, or the sequels? The sequels you mean? I mean, because if it was just, it was just, if it was just regular, if we have, if we had, if we hadn't had a movie since 1983, which I mistakenly said on Campos at one point. But if they hadn't made a movie since 1983 and now they were making a new movie,
Starting point is 01:42:34 the hype would be through the wall. Just like it was Force Awakens. I mean, remember that first trailer? When that first trailer, when that first trailer dropped, people lost their effing minds. Right, right. When he said it's all real, oh, we're home chewy, people. Lost their mind. Oh, I was there.
Starting point is 01:42:49 Oh, yeah. Yeah. All right. What's next? Aoshi, being honest, I don't care about Star Wars. More excited for X-Men. That's fair. And I think,
Starting point is 01:42:57 but that broken record stuff, it is the trust factor. There's more trust right now in Marvel than there is with Star Wars. Yeah. Okay. Also, thoughts on the newest lanterns episode. Fiona, I liked it.
Starting point is 01:43:12 I, I dug the episode. Yeah, we just put the reaction up last night with Sam and I. But I liked that. I didn't, it came from, I've really enjoyed the series so far,
Starting point is 01:43:24 but the season so far, but I didn't love episode six, and this one got me kind of back on being excited again. But you liked it a lot too, right, John? I loved it. Yeah, I talked about it. Because, I mean, you know, he's no. I've done the mental, you know, my own mental health journey. And I think that show spoke to it so powerfully.
Starting point is 01:43:41 I do think people are misinterpreting what the father was trying to say. He was, I think some, and I tweeted about it today, some people are saying that the father was okaying for how to do something. And that's so completely wrong. You're reading it so completely wrong. But I thought it was incredible. And seeing Hal and John, the halogram and John get closer together to see like a glimpse of the show that some people wanted to see, I thought it was a blast. That was so much fun.
Starting point is 01:44:11 A few more. Matt's Senator McCall Roker. What's the name of the goat from the witch? I think it's your daddy small dick. I think it's what it was called. Why? Wait, why did you do that? Because that's the magic.
Starting point is 01:44:24 I lost on with Jeff Snyder, the five-pointer, and this motherfucker is bringing it back up. So I hope someone hits your leg with a car today. So there you go. Thank you, Matt, sinister. Thank you, man. You really go for the jugular, huh? I do, I do. But I'm having fun. I actually don't mean for you. Caleb, Kibby. Roka, not all of us like Kitty Star Wars like you. Motherfucker, I was on the and door train before anybody else. I got shit when I told creators who are white and Star Wars to bring on people of color to talk about Andor. I love Andor. There's no kidding Star Wars for me,
Starting point is 01:44:59 bro. Oh, my Lord. That's mate. Yeah, I took her. Yeah, nice, Luke. What's next? Is that it? No. Any Star Wars film with less sand is probably better. Ron H., what's, Ron H has been subdued here today.
Starting point is 01:45:17 He's been civil. He's been, yeah. Is this the real Ron H? H. Was your account hack? but any Star Wars film with less sand is probably better. It's probably true. All right, what's next?
Starting point is 01:45:26 Yeah. So that's it. Okay, that's it. That's it for now. Yeah, so we did pretty good. Good start, you know, considering, you know, we're in the midst of the Kickstarter right now. And then what I, as I mentioned to you guys right now, we're going to do the 16-person tournament. My goal is that we would wear at 186-286.
Starting point is 01:45:46 My goal is that we really would get to that 200 soon, like whether it's today, tomorrow, because it'll allow me then to then move to the stretch goals that we can, for the pilot itself, make sure that we can get the cast we want, the music that we want, the director of photography that we want, the locations that we want, and be comfortable and get that boardwalk goal.
Starting point is 01:46:09 And then be able to, obviously, fill the obligations that we have for you guys, because that's going to, I hope people realize that as well, too. So we're going to, we want to make sure that we're going to fill all the obligations, make sure that we,
Starting point is 01:46:19 that everything, but it costs money. And the same thing with this. Schmodown, support of the obligation. So there's a lot that goes into all of it. So if you're able to, you're excited about it. You want to support it and you want Schmodeown to come back. That's the way to do it.
Starting point is 01:46:32 Cc, Black. End game, on curbing number one box office is crazy. It is and it isn't. It isn't. It isn't because it's like, wow, like a movie that's been out for so long, but it's also doomsday's coming out. People want to get hyped up again. So yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:49 All right, John. So where can the people find you? What's going on? you can always find me at the Rokasez on social media and head over to my YouTube channel, YouTube.com slash John Roker says, as Chris and I both are saying, we're seeing Digger today. So my out of theater reaction will be up there as well. We'll see what's going on there. And of course, what Cinefiles is out, we just dropped to our new episode talking about the greatest films from the 1920s to the 1960s.
Starting point is 01:47:12 We'll do part two of that later on this week. And of course, tomorrow spill the tequila, geek buddies, hot mic, all of that happening this week. And I'll be seeing Ray Gun on Wednesday. And classy Clark Wolf. Get in the tournament. Cut it out. The outlaw's calling you out. I saw you talk all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:47:27 Get back in the tournament. Let's make it happen. All right. Thank you. Peace. All right. The outlaw, you're going to see a lot of that.
Starting point is 01:47:38 So thank you guys so much for being here today. And thank you again. Like I said, I went to bed last night. It was at 181. 181. I took a screenshot of it because I thought it was funny. 181, 1801. And now already not, not,
Starting point is 01:47:53 24 hours later, we're at 186, 286. So if you're watching this on the replay and you are watching this now, I love old angry, I'll get that bell, bro. Thank you, because one. Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see him back.
Starting point is 01:48:07 Fiona George also comes back in. And she says, Dan Trachberg is doing dark sleeping beauty inspired movie at Disney. Yeah, those always make me nervous. I don't know. We'll see. I don't know. We'll see.
Starting point is 01:48:21 Because I, it, I like Tractionberg. I like him. But I think when they change things up and those are so hard to do those, the reimagining because it's like either you make it too close to you. It's like, why they just basically made a shot for shot remake or it's like, oh, they went so far outside the wheel.
Starting point is 01:48:40 I don't know. I don't. Thank you guys. I appreciate it. And as I said, there are a lot of stuff going on. My Invincible season three finale with Ming is up on the channel now. If you haven't seen that, please check it out. Pretty sure my Brad Bird interview will be up tomorrow.
Starting point is 01:48:59 We also have my out of the theater for Digger that will be out later on tonight. And I have Verity tomorrow night. Sam should be coming in for us to do some reactions and hoping to get Mando and Grogo and then jump into the X-Men movies, Kennedy versus Acme, other things. I'm doing John Campi's show today at three. So make sure you check that. out. And that's it. So I'm excited. I hope you guys are pumped. Please. And the other thing, too, please spread the word on your socials and everything else too, that we are going to do that 16 person
Starting point is 01:49:32 tournament would be great if people could chime in to help us get there. Because obviously, well, we'll do the 16 if we hit the goal. And hopefully we hit that goal sooner than later. So thank you for being here. I appreciate you very much. Thank you to Luke and PLD. Thanks to Roka for being here. Thank you to Sam and MK for doing the time codes. Jonathan, for the editing, for all you guys. Really appreciate it. It's great to see you guys. And we'll be back here tomorrow with myself, Roxy and Mike.
Starting point is 01:50:01 So see you soon. Bye, everybody. Bye. Did you shit in there?
