So if you would do me a favor, if you've ever gotten any value from anything that I've ever
said, please go give us a rating review.
I would greatly, greatly appreciate it.
Okay.
So when we're talking about exactly how to read three times faster, I'm going
to be honest with you.
I'm one of the people who used to say, oh man, you know what though?
I just love physical books.
I love having physical books, the way they feel in my fingers, turning the pages.
I love to be able to dog ear the pages.
I love to be able to underline and highlight them.
It's just physical books.
But a couple things happen.
Number one, I got too many books.
And moving really sucks when you have a ton of books because books are not light.
The second thing that happened was I went traveling out of the country for six months.
And I couldn't bring my books along with me.
And so what I had to do is I had to start using Kindle.
For the longest time, I was completely against Kindle. I was like, no, I like physical books. I'm a physical book
person. But then what I realized is this. You can go online. You can buy an audiobook if you want to,
which is great. You can listen to an audiobook. They're all really good. An audiobook costs you
about 20 bucks. A physical book's going to cost you about 20 bucks. But what I realized is that you go online and you buy a Kindle book,
you can buy a Kindle book for, you know, seven to $12 pretty much on average on Amazon.
With most books though, they have something called Amazon narration that comes with it as well. And it's like an extra $7. So what's cool
is you can either get a physical book for around 20 bucks. You can get an audio book for around 20
bucks, or you can get the Kindle version and you can also get the narration to the Kindle for around
20 bucks as well. Here's what I realized. The cool thing about having a Kindle is that when you're going through
and you have an iKindle narration is it actually highlights the words as it's reading them to you
out loud. So as the words are actually coming through your headphones, the cool thing about it,
and I use my iPad for this, as the words are coming through your headphones, it's actually
highlighting every single word that it's going through.
Two reasons why this is good.
Number one, I'm a really big highlighter and note taker inside of my books.
There's a feature on Kindle that allows you to highlight all of the words, all of the
things that you love, but at the same time, it also allows you to go back and look at
just the highlighted versions
that you have inside of your Kindle.
So instead of going back and reading the entire book, you can go back and just reread your
highlighted parts.
Why is this good?
Well, because if I love a book and I want to go reread it, sometimes I can go and reread
the entire thing in about 30, 45 minutes by just reading the parts that were the best
for me.
Now you might ask yourself, how does this work if I want to read a book per week?
Well here's the way that you want to do it.
The average book on, just so you know, is about 10-12 hours on Audible, which is just
the audio book.
Now here's the cool thing.
If you listen on audible
they speak really slowly they talk like this that's not the normal way that we
listen we like to listen faster and if you listen to me I speak way faster than
most people should speak so we can listen faster than we can actually speak
so what's cool is you can take the narration and 2x it. And then once
you get used to 2x, you can actually 3x it. And if you're listening, you might be thinking, well,
3x, that's really, really fast. It is fast. But what's cool is you're also reading the words
on the screen because it's reading them out loud to you and highlighting them. So you're listening
to them much faster. But at the same time, it's also highlighting all of the words.
So not only are you hearing it, but you're also seeing it as well.
And hearing it and seeing it are two ways to process information,
which means your brain is more likely to retain the information than if you just read it or if you just heard it.
Here's what's cool though.
This is what I always recommend to everybody.
30 minutes to an hour every single day
30 minutes to an hour of reading every single day now
What I mean by this is if the average book is 10 to 12 hours sometimes they go longer they go up to 20 hours
Or even further for some of them, but average I've found is about 10 to 12 hours
If you to exit then you realize that right there is about five to six hours
If you three exit you're looking at three hours to four hours
to get through an entire book.
So if you take 30 minutes in the morning to read your book,
and then you take, like for instance with me,
while I'm making my breakfast every single morning,
I'm listening to some sort of audio book.
While I'm taking a shower, I'm listening to some sort of audio book.
Whenever I get my car, I'm listening to an audio book. Whenever I'm doing anything, even at the gym, listening to
an audio book. What's cool about it is this, is if you buy the Kindle and the narration version of
it, if you're driving and you hear a part that you really like, and this is the difference between
Audible and between Kindle with the narration, is is on audible. If you hear a part that you really like, the only way to remember it is if you write it
down, that's about it. But if I'm driving my car and the person says something that I really,
really enjoy, the cool thing about it is all I have to do is next time I get to a stoplight,
go back to the page that I was in highlight what they had said. So my retention goes up more.
My highlighting goes up because I can go
back and read this anytime that I want to. And, you know, let's say that I go for a drive and it's
a two hour drive and listen to hours of an audio book. And, uh, you know, there's certain parts
that I really like. Well, you know, if I get to a stoplight, anytime I get to a stop, obviously
I'm not going to be highlighting as I'm driving the car, that'd be extremely dangerous. But when
I go to a stoplight, I can highlight in the parts that I like. And when I finish the book, I can always come back and reread
just the highlighted versions. And then also what's cool about it is you can take notes
inside of as well and say this part right here. So a lot of times I'll get ideas for videos
that I want to make. I'll get ideas for podcast episodes that I want to make. And so what I'll do
is I'll actually highlight them because you can I want to make and so what I'll do is I'll actually
highlight them because you can highlight them different colors so anytime it's just a normal
highlighting I just do yellow if I have a highlighting that's going to be for a video
or a podcast episode every single time I highlight it blue and then I make a little note of exactly
what I would say some ideas that pop into my head as I'm going through it so that's the easiest way
to read three times faster it's my simple quick little hack going through it. So that's the easiest way to read three times
faster. It's my simple, quick little hack for you guys. I hope that you enjoy it. All that you have
to do, buy the Kindle version of a book. If you have an iPad, if you have an iPhone, there's
Kindle on both of those. If you have a Samsung, there's Kindle on those as well. Just download
the Kindle app. You don't even have to buy a Kindle. You can actually use just the Kindle app.
So you can use it on Samsung. You can use it on iPhone. You can use it on iPad. You can use it on all of these different platforms. Or if you actually have
a Kindle, you can use it as well. Buy it for $7, $12 each book. And then what you do is you upgrade
and you get right under where it says buy now. There's a little button. You just click that
little button that says add. I think it's called Amazon narration, something like that for $7.99,
whatever it is.
You're paying about the same amount.
The difference is you're hearing it, you're seeing it, you can make all the highlights.
And the cool thing is you can have thousands of books with you on the go.
If you stick to this simple strategy and you just 30 minutes to an hour every single day
while you're getting ready, while you're in the shower, while you're cooking, while you're
driving, you can go through a book every single week. So that's all I got for you for today,
everybody. Quick, short, simple podcast episode. Wanted to make sure that I gave you this value
because it's something that I use all of the time. So if you like this episode, once again,
please share it with someone that you know and love. Please give us a rating and review,

I appreciate you.
