Before we dive into today's episode, if you would like a free copy of our motivational ebook called Hack Your Goals, the Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving Success, go to mwfmotivation.com and download it.
It's already been downloaded over a thousand times, so go ahead and get your copy now.
All right, I'll get you the podcast right now.
Welcome to the MWF Motivation Podcast, which I am proud to say has been rated the number one podcast in iTunes new and noteworthy in six different categories, including self-help
and business, and is a podcast designed to help you grow into the best version of yourself
in 10 to 20 minutes.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we'll take a life topic, break it down, discuss
it, and leave you with thoughts to impact your life and mind. My name is Rob Dial, and
the podcast starts now.
Welcome to today's episode. If you have not yet done so, please subscribe to us, however you listen to us.
Also, if you have not yet downloaded our free ebook, Hack Your Goals, A Step-by-Step Guide to Achieving Success,
it is very close to not being free anymore.
It is actually already on Amazon for $4.99, and we are going to be taking it off of the website.
So if you do want the free
ebook, go ahead and sign up and get it. It's mwfmotivation.com. You can get it on the very
front page. So that is that. Also, people that have been reaching out, podcast ambassadors,
thank you so much for everyone who has reached out to be a podcast ambassador. These are just
people who want to share my content as often
as possible. And the people that I can rely on whenever I'm trying to... I'm testing to see if
I can get videos to go viral quickly. I've had two videos that have amassed a total of about 55
million views. And that being said, obviously those views turn into likes on the Facebook page,
which turn into downloads for the podcast.
So for those of you that want to help the podcast grow, because we are going to come up short of our goal of 1 million downloads in the first 12 months, send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.
Let me know you want to be a podcast ambassador. And I would be greatly appreciative
if you would share as much of the content as possible to try to get our message out there to affect as many lives as possible. And the most exciting announcement tonight will be
the Mindset Mastery webinar. It's going to be tonight, Wednesday, and it's going to be at 8pm
Central Standard Time, 9 o'clock Eastern Time, which would be 6 o'clock Pacific Time.
And I'm going to talk to you in depth about how to master your mindset because the only thing
that holds somebody back from being successful is what goes on between their ears. So I am going to
teach you a free lesson tonight. And you can go and understand that or get to the lesson. It's mwfmotivation.com
slash webinar. If you want to sign up for it, we already have over 220 people signed up for it.
The room only allows 100. So I might have to upgrade somehow and see if we can do it. So
I'm super excited about it. But if you happen to be listening to this episode and it's not Wednesday, July 13th, it's past that time and you missed it, go to that mwfmotivation.com
slash webinar and hopefully I will have other webinars up there for you to see.
So in this episode today, I'm going to talk about putting yourself in a state of awe.
And what I mean by that, people say awesome all the time.
I'm a person who says awesome, but awesome doesn't really mean what you think it means. Most people are like, oh yeah, no, that pizza was awesome. Yeah, but that conversation we had was awesome.
I don't think you understand. Awesome literally means you're in a state of awe, to the point
where you can barely breathe because something is so amazing. But we use the word awesome all the time. So what do I mean by putting yourself
in a state of awe? Let me tell you a story. And the reason why I wanted to tell you this
is there's a quote. One of my favorite quotes is Albert Einstein. And it says,
there's two ways to look at the world. One is though everything around you
was a miracle. And the other way is to look at the world as if nothing is a miracle.
Personally, I choose to look around and try to have everything around me be a miracle,
me to understand how amazing everything really is. But the other day I had a little bit of a
lapse of judgment and I was
pulling out of my driveway, which means my phone was connecting and unconnecting to my Wi-Fi.
And my phone would not connect to my Wi-Fi in my house because I was pulling out of my driveway.
And on my phone, I have my security. So I was trying to turn my security on as I was leaving,
but it would not connect to the internet because it was going back and forth between wifi. It didn't know if it wanted to be on my wifi or if it wanted to use just the
4G network, whatever it is. And for a second, it hit me where I was like, what the hell
is wrong with this piece of crap? Like it won't connect. And I'm literally just outside of my
house. Why is it not connecting? And then it hit me that I was being the most privileged,
And then it hit me that I was being the most privileged, ridiculous person in the world where I am sitting there holding a phone in my driveway that is connecting, trying to connect to until about five or 10 years ago. I'm able to turn my security system on in my house from my phone. Think about this guys, 15 years ago, for those of
you guys that remember 15 years ago really well, do you know how crazy it would have sounded if
you were talking to somebody and you were like, yeah, 15 years ago, I was using my
phone and trying to get my phone to turn on my security system when I was in my car in the
driveway. 15 years ago, people would have been like, yeah, Rob's insane. He needs to go to like
the loony bin. He was trying to turn his security system on with his phone. For those of you guys
that know you're older than like 20, 30 years old, 15 years ago
when stuff was like, you still had to use caller ID, that was a new thing. You had to pay extra
for caller ID and cell phones weren't a big deal or as big a deal as now. You have to realize,
I was using my phone to turn on my security. Like, do you understand if you take yourself out of that situation, how amazing that actually is? And it's like Louis CK says, he says, everything is amazing
and nobody is happy. He calls us all spoiled idiots. He talks about the fact that he gets
into a plane and nobody in the plane is super excited about the fact that this plane is a piece of metal that humans bent.
And now they're flying at four or 500 miles an hour. And you're sitting in a chair in the sky.
You're sitting in a chair in the sky. He's like, why don't people just sit around? They're like,
oh my God, this is the greatest thing that's ever happened. He says, because we're all a bunch of
spoiled idiots. And I want you to realize what the point of this story that I'm trying to tell you is that we take for granted so many amazing things. We take for granted so
many amazing things. So put yourself in a state of awe where you look at stuff objectively and go,
holy crap, like I did the other day. I'm using my telephone to connect to the internet somewhere out in space.
There is something, some type of satellite that's triangulating where I am.
It's picking up my information.
My phone is sending a message to space.
That thing from space is then coming back down and turning my security system on.
How does that not put us in a state of awe all the time? So unless we take time out of our
day to pay attention to it and realize how amazing everything really is, we don't notice it. And we
don't practice the gratitude to see how amazing everything is. A couple of weeks ago, I had my
AC go out for four days.
It went out on a Thursday. The guy tried to fix it. It went out Thursday night. The guy tried to
fix it on Friday. Didn't work on Friday. He tried to get it to where he thought he fixed it, but he
didn't. They don't work over the weekend. And then he couldn't get it fixed on Monday. He didn't get
it fixed till Tuesday. So it was like four or five days. And you don't realize how amazing air
conditioning is until yours goes out in the summer in Austin
on the week where one of the worst heat waves in 10 years comes in.
But we fail to wake up and be like, oh my God, this is amazing day.
Happy day.
My beautiful AC is pumping and I'm so grateful.
This is amazing.
Everything is amazing.
Like we don't do that. Why don't we? Like there's so
many things to be amazed by. The fact that there's a freaking flaming ball of fire millions of miles
away that is so hot that it makes us hot in the middle of the summer. That is crazy. There's so
many crazy things to appreciate and to really think about that we That is crazy. There's so many crazy things to appreciate and to really
think about that we never think about. There's so many crazy things. The fact that we have tides
because the moon pulls the water from our actual planet, it makes tides because of the gravitational
pull. That's crazy. But we never think about these things that are so amazing. And I'm not trying
to sound like I deserve to be in a loony bin, but you guys have to realize there's some crazy,
amazing stuff that happens around you all day, every day that you never even take a chance
to think about because you're worried about how Starbucks screwed up your flappa chapa matta latte.
You're focusing on the wrong
thing. Focus on how amazing it is. I'm not saying you go into Starbucks like a crazy person and
walk around and out loud, you're like, oh my gosh, this air conditioning is amazing. Oh my gosh,
all of the lights are on. I'm not saying go in and verbally say that out loud because everyone's
going to think you're crazy, but you can do that in your head. You can make it a game to take today
and go, how many amazing things can I find today? I walk up to a set of doors and they magically
open up for me. Like that's crazy to think about. Doors magically open up for you because you
happen to get close to them. There's so many amazing things that are just nuts and crazy,
but we just take it for granted. So that being said, we have to think about things that are
amazing and realize that what we focus on is what's going to dictate how our life is going to
be. It is impossible to look at all of the
amazing things around you and be extremely grateful for them and be mad at the same time.
It's impossible to be extremely grateful for all of the amazing things around you
and to also be depressed at the same time. So here's the thing. Make a game of how many amazing things you can find today.
Your phone, the fact that your phone shoots into like laser beams that you can't see up into the
sky. Like that's crazy. Like in just the fact that all of these crazy things are happening
all of the time. The fact that the internet works, the fact that there's Facebook, the fact that
people talk across the world. I can literally get on the internet, this weird odd thing, talk to people across the world. I'm
speaking into a microphone right now and thousands of people can hear my voice whenever they want to
by clicking on a thing that doesn't even tangibly exist in real world, the internet. That's crazy.
You can fly from California to
New York City in six hours. That used to take like 30 years. And half of the people who ended
the trip with you were different than the ones who started the trip with you. That's crazy.
That's nuts. So what I say to you is live your life like a three-year-old. Have you ever seen
a three-year-old? Everything is amazing to a three-year-old because they're seeing the world
for the first time and they're actually understanding how crazy everything is.
And this is not an episode on faking what your quote-unquote problems are.
If you listened to last episode, you don't have problems if you think about them the right way.
This isn't about faking what your quote-unquote problems are,
but it's about the quality of your life being dictated by what you choose
to focus on. You can focus on how amazing it is that everything is happening and conspiring to
make this world amazing for you, or you can focus and think that everything in the world is against
you. That's what you have to realize. You have to learn to be grateful and learn to focus on the things that are amazing. It's about mastering your mind and controlling it, not letting it control you.
That being said, I'm going to leave you with this.
If you want to learn to master your mind, join tonight.
Go to mwfmotivation.com slash webinar for the free lesson called mindset mastery. I hope you join me.
If you're listening to this after Wednesday, July 13th at 8 PM, you missed it. Sorry. That's the
way it goes, but go to MWF motivation.com slash webinar. See if there happens to be any other new
webinars are going to be coming out. So you can join in on those because I get the feeling I'm
going to have to do a couple of webinars because there are a ton of people and I don't think everyone's going to be able
to make it into the webinar.
So master your mind.
And if you don't join tonight, try to join at some point in time because I want to teach
you how to master your mind so that you can control it, not let it control you.
So with that being said, I'm going to leave you the same way I leave you every single
episode.
Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better. I appreciate you and I hope that you have an
