And also, if you think this audio quality is a little bit lower than normal, I apologize. I am currently traveling and I'm doing a lot of traveling right now. If you want to join in and watch my travels, you can follow me on Snapchat. It's at Rob Dial, R-O-B-D-I-A-L. I'm doing a lot of speaking. I do a lot of speaking during the fall and winter. So if you personally would want me to give a speech to your company,
Starting point is 00:01:33 if you have conferences that are coming up, anything like that, reach out to me, Rob at MWF Motivation. And if your company hires me and I fly out to wherever it is that you live and do a speaking engagement for them, I will personally take you out to dinner or lunch or whatever we can do, coffee, whatever we can do that is around you. So that would be fun. I just thought of that idea and I think it'd be fun to meet some of you guys out there as well. Also, if you are interested in the one-on-one coaching with me, I have a few people that I've interviewed in the past week, but I have one spot that is open now. It's still open and you can send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. Also, if you have not yet downloaded our ebook, our free ebook is not
Starting point is 00:02:17 going to be free much longer. Probably another few weeks is what I'm thinking. So get it before you have to start paying for it because it's already for sale on Amazon. And also, if you did not get a chance to join our webinar, I've had a ton of fun joining webinars. I think this is going to be my last webinar for at least a little while, a few weeks probably. And there are no replays being sent out if you miss the webinars. But you can join in. Go to mwfmotivation.com slash webinar and you'll be able to see the next webinar that is coming up next week. And just go to that website. I'm not sure the exact date off the top of my head, but it is up there because I would love for you to join the webinar if you have not already because they have been a ton of fun
Starting point is 00:03:03 and I have been putting like blood, sweat, and tears into making sure that they're amazing and I have been loving it. So any of that, go to mwfmotivation.com slash webinar. And then any other information, whether it be one-on-one coaching, or do you want me to speak at your company engagement, or any of those types of things, send me an email, rob at mwfmotivation.com. That is obviously. But what I'm going to talk about today is following your second brain. Most people don't realize that we have two brains, basically. And the reason why people say follow your gut, I'm a huge, huge believer in following your gut. Whenever I talk to people and they say, well, I have this going on and I really want to do
Starting point is 00:03:42 this, but blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Usually what's happening is your gut knows the right thing to do. The reason why you get butterflies is because your gut is thinking about what's going on. And the reason why your first thought, your immediate thought is usually your gut feeling, that's usually right. And then what happens is your brain tends to talk you out of everything by trying to keep you safe. I want you guys to realize this. Our brain is a two million year old object. Two million years. It is not designed to make you successful. It is not designed to make you happy. It is not designed to do the things that you want to do. It is designed to keep you safe. And so that's why whenever you feel like you should do
Starting point is 00:04:24 something, but then you get the thought of, oh, I don't know if I should really do that. Maybe that's not the best idea. Maybe I should stay in my comfort zone. The first thought was the thought from your gut. The second thought is a thought from your brain. And you might say, well, that doesn't make sense. You know, we can't actually think from our gut. Well, let me throw some science at you that is pretty surprising. There are more than 100 million neurons inside of the lining of your gut. Did you know that? Scientists actually call your gut your second brain. It has more than 100 million neurons and it has more than 30 neurotransmitters. Let that sit with you. More than 30 neurotransmitters. Let that sit with you.
Starting point is 00:05:05 More than 30 neurotransmitters in more than 100 million neurons. So clearly, you can get some type of feeling and thought from your gut. And 95% of your body's serotonin, which is actually the chemical that's responsible for maintaining your mood balance. Like, for instance, when someone has a deficit of serotonin, it leads to depression. So serotonin is the chemical that's responsible for maintaining your mood balance. 95% of your serotonin is found in your bowels, in your gut. And that's why if you ever watch antidepressant medications where they talk about all of these things that might, these problems that might come
Starting point is 00:05:45 up. They're medications that increase your serotonin levels. Antidepressants increase your serotonin levels, which is why it makes complete sense that these medications cause chemical changes that often provoke gastrointestinal issues. That's why they say diarrhea might be a side effect. There might be bowel problems. There might be all of these stomach aches and all of these different issues. The reason why is because these antidepressants are working with the serotonin in your body. And 95% of the serotonin, the chemical balance drug that's in your body naturally, The chemical balance drug that's in your body naturally is actually in your gut, in your bowels. So when you get a feeling of maybe I should quit my job or maybe I should break up with this person or maybe I should go after my dreams, which is here, or maybe I should do this,
Starting point is 00:06:35 and you get that immediate first thought, that's usually the thought coming from your gut. That's usually what I like to call it is it's like your mental compass. It's your compass of where you should go. But then for some reason, our brain kicks in right after that, once again, trying to keep us safe and says, no, no, no, no, no, we can't do that. We need to stay in the safe spot. We can't leave our job. We can't leave the person that we're with because it's comfortable. It's easy. We want to make it easy. We want to make as comfortable as possible. And so the thing that you want to learn from this episode, this very short episode, is that if you ever get the feeling of maybe I should go out and do something, maybe I should do this, you're usually right. If one of them says, hey, maybe
Starting point is 00:07:13 I should go after my dreams, maybe I should do this, it's usually right. I hope you guys can't hear the guy that's outside mowing the lawn while I'm traveling here, but you probably can. He's super close. But besides that, what I want you guys to but you probably can. He's super close. But besides that, what I want you guys to realize is this. Your gut is always right. Your moral, I'm sorry, your mental compass is your gut. Follow your gut. Don't follow what your brain tells you. Your brain is trying to keep you safe. Your gut is trying to make you amazing. So what I want you to take from this episode is think about your first thought when you get that first inspiring thought. What is that first inspiring thought and what can you gain from that first inspiring thought? And think about it. Just test yourself. When you get a feeling that comes up and you're like, maybe I should do this. See if you talk yourself out of it and notice how your gut always comes up with an idea and your brain always tries to talk you out of it and learn how to overcome your brain talking you out of things. So with that, if you like this episode, please share with someone that you know. We're trying to get to a million downloads and we're going to be so freaking close if we don't get some more shares. So I appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Make it your mission today to make somebody else's day better. And I hope that you go out there and have an amazing day. Well, that's it for today's podcast.
