This week's video is sponsored by Rocket Money, a personal finance app that I've been using for about a year and a half now before we ever partnered up with them.
After the reaction, I'll tell you why I love them so much and what they are. On to the video, Reject Nation.
Okay, I have no idea what we're getting into with this one.
because every single Chucky movie brings something of, like absolutely bat, bat, bat, bat, bat, bat poop, bat poop, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, bat poop. So let's just hit it. Let's do it.
Oh, my God, that part of the end freak me out, y'all.
Bro. Whoa, I love this one. I don't care what. This is one of my favorites. I don't care what anybody says, this is, like,
like the greatest franchise of all time oh my god and i don't know that people don't say that but i don't know
that they do and i do know that they should fiona dorf we got to know how they're related dude
this was sick nasty bravo i love this movie this is so good the fact that we saw the precursor
to how charles what charles lee ray was running from when he ended up in that shootout in the store
right that this was like obviously the rest of the movie is not a prequel but we got like the right pre-react right before
where was he and why he cares about this family and it was so believable oh yeah god damn dude
they do this like this is just great it's just great and the easter eggs like of that she has that
you know what is it Stockholm syndrome what's a cinder where you like end up she didn't really love him
but she's like stay whatever i like that in wait no what what you know when when somebody is
trying to keep him from your kid. I know, but still, it is called Stockholm syndrome, right?
She was manipulating him. She didn't actually have it because she didn't love him.
When you fall for your captor, it's called Stockholm, which is not what she had.
Okay. But in the beginning, at first, I was like, when she was like, no, don't leave.
I was like, she's got that Stockholm syndrome. But then it flipped. And she was like, of course, she wants him to like die in so many ways.
But. No, because she just was trying, he was saying he was going to go for the kid.
He was like, I'm going to go pick her up.
Right, right. No, I know.
And she just didn't want him to leave.
But I do like that they had her painting,
sunflowers, though.
Like, and he used to bring her sunflowers.
And you saw that, that I'm like, oh, he's still somehow in her head
that, like, imprinted on her in a really weird way.
That was like a cool Easter egg to see him bringing her those flowers
and then see those paintings that she made.
I'm kind of surprised that Barbie never knew what was going on,
that the mom never said anything.
and Barbie was like, who is that?
Because she didn't know, and she was alive.
And she wasn't that young.
And remember, they had like a whole interactant.
I mean, she was young, which she wasn't young enough that like, I guess maybe she just
blocked it out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's fine.
I don't remember anything from being under 10 to whom I would talk.
This was so different, especially after seeing seed of Chuckie and bride of Chuckie,
I didn't know what curse of Chuckie was going to bring.
And then we, because we're not, we don't, aren't dealing with Jennifer for the majority of the movie.
We're not dealing with Andy for the majority of the movie.
Um, we didn't start with the like recreation of Chuckie.
Right.
I was kind of like, huh, what's going to happen here?
But they gave us like, like they always do a completely new, fresh, fun take on Chuckie.
Yeah.
God damn it.
It's so good.
Especially, I hope this is his daughter in real life.
I hope that that's Brad.
Let's look up if that's who it was.
Because if that is, I mean, in this family, they just are the rulers of Chuck.
And they have the same eyes, too, him and her.
So I guarantee that that's probably his daughter.
And I was going to say that I love the reveal of when she starts taking off his face.
Because if we'd seen him set up again, because that's when he came out of the box,
I was like, wait, why is he fresh?
But then I went, this is a new movie.
Let's not make a comment that he's fresh and he's his face.
Doesn't look like that.
So I thought we're going, we're going off the rails.
we weren't the reveal of her taken off of his face was oh man that got me so good i love that so much
and the acting in this is again like and i know it's different different casting directors for each of
them but dang good job each time like they take i think that each director at least or if there's if
it's been the same producers you do a good job choosing good actors yeah completely the actors in this franchise
are absolutely stellar.
They're great.
No question about it.
So that woman is Fiona Dorff.
And now I'm just trying to figure out
if she's related to...
Brad.
Yeah, let's see right here.
Fiona Dorff and Brad Dorff, let's see.
Are they related?
Yeah, she...
You would think this would be easier to find.
I don't know yet.
You talk.
It's got to be his daughter.
I loved this movie.
I was like,
on the edge of my seat.
I mean, even the little girl was so great.
Yeah, that's his daughter.
It is.
That's amazing.
That is amazing.
That's cool.
I'm like so stoked about that because she is so good and she just got it.
But I don't, I, I hadn't, I haven't seen her do something before this.
So I feel like that was such a great casting choice and what a great opportunity for her to absolutely nail it.
Shout out though to, you know, like you always want, um, uh, handicapped people.
to be able to have handicapped roles.
So I will say, I think that times have changed from 2000 and whatever this was till
now where we really try to give opportunities to people in the positions that the characters
are playing.
Yes.
At the same time, I thought she just did an absolutely unbelievable job.
It looks like before this, she was in three episodes of Deadwood.
Oh, okay.
I don't like that show.
Yeah, which is a great show.
I didn't see all of it, but from what I've heard.
I also think, like, normally with the nepotism thing, you think, oh, great, you know, like, all right, so he gets to have his daughter in there.
And then sometimes it doesn't work out because these people are, like, just thrown in there because they have a connection.
But, like, she wasn't.
She put in the work.
She has worked before.
And I'm really glad that she got this opportunity.
Yeah, I mean, too.
Because she did a phenomenal job.
She did do a bunch of other stuff, too, a bunch of shorts.
Like, she was doing a ton of shorts.
Okay.
She was in eight episodes of True Blood before this.
Oh, love that show too.
Yeah, so she was definitely, I mean, it's like law and order.
She was definitely, like, out there grinding.
So she did such a, such a, such a great job in this.
Don Mancini nailed this one.
Agreed.
Love that he did Seed of Chucky, bride of Chucky,
and Childs play this in terms of the screenplays for all of those.
Like he did the first one too?
For, he wrote it.
He wrote it.
I think he's written all of them.
Because his first, because his first,
directing was seed yeah okay okay so first time directing was seed but let's go to his writing for a
second in terms of what he's written it looks like yeah I think he wrote all of them he wrote child's play
he wrote child's play two he wrote child's play three he wrote bride of chucky he wrote seat of chucky
he wrote curse a chucky he wrote culta chucky whoa he wrote the next child's play movie so this is
don man wow franchise man and boy would I like to get into that guy's mind because yes I
can't believe this is when something is your baby like this must be for him because he's written
all of them yes the way you're able to be like okay i want to do something different than i did but
i know these characters in my bones so like that's probably why because he is the the rock
the glue of all of this that's why every time we can be left surprised i just am shocked with this
franchise yeah i have you disliked one of them is wait say that again have you disliked one of them
no i've had fun in each and every single one but this one like the writing i think has gotten better
it's gone a little bit up and down and in this one specifically the writing was so good like when
she has the argument with her sister up in the stairs and they're all talking about two different
things the hidden camera and the affair and that argument never really comes to light and she's just
so believable just put down the freaking doll we can't have this conversation anymore and then again
with the dad and her in the garage she's like just whatever you do just stay away from the
freaking doll and i love that the reason they can't have the conversation is because time is of
the effing essence we have to find the freaking kid where is she and so that leads us to like
not ask any more questions and that that script writing in that that there is in the background too
we had a physical representation of that clock like it's so good like the way that they go they move
through those conversations, I love that writing so much because it's not exposition. It's literally
what's in the moment and you don't need to tell the audience anymore. We know what they're talking
about. It's such an awesome point, Tara, because I think with a lot of these movies, people just think
like, oh, it's a silly horror franchise. We don't need to really hone in on the dialogue. But
these movies, the dialogue is just so good. But it's also, it's sometimes poignant, but it's
funny and fresh. I just think it's perfect.
I got some trivia for you.
This is going to blow your mind.
Oh, man.
Here we go.
Reject Nation, when I heard that this company wanted to partner up with us yet again,
I was so enthusiastic about it.
Reason being, I had already been using their product for well over a year by the point
we first ever collaborated with them.
So the fact that we get to have this ongoing partnership just makes me a happy camper.
And that is, of course, for the app, Rocket Money.
Now, if you guys don't know what Rocket Money is, don't worry.
I got you covered.
I'll tell you about them in just a little bit, but before that, I wanted to share with you guys why I love this app so much. It's actually a very personal reason. You see, like many of you guys, I too grew up in a home where money did not come easily, needless to say. The predominant conversation in my family household was undoubtedly about financial struggle, financial worry. And that does a number on you. So it certainly seeped into my adulthood when I was trying to learn how to become financially independent.
And to this day, as someone who talks a lot about working as mental health, who's proudly going to therapy, no matter how much lack we might have in money one day or how much success we might have in money sometimes, I still have to have to have this ongoing conversation about my relationship with money.
I'm half Filipinos. My mom's always talking to me about taxes to this day.
I think, though, it does start with how you manage the finances you currently have.
See, before I ever acquired any type of reasonable living money, I heard someone speak about how you have to learn what to do.
with a dollar now. Essentially, the talk was about don't wait until you have like a bunch of money
and then start figuring out what to do with it afterwards. Like you got a bunch of toys to play
with. If you want to acquire more in life, you have to first figure out what you're going to do
with what you currently have. And that's why I love this app. It's applicable for any financial
stage you are at in life. Come to think about it, it would have been very beneficial for me when I was
in a real struggle boat years ago. So in summary, as someone who is constantly having an ongoing
and work in relationship with how to handle money,
Rocket Money has helped make that relationship a lot healthier in my life.
So what are they, if you don't know what they are,
what they are is a personal finance app that simplifies managing money
by canceling unnecessary subscriptions,
lowering your bills,
and crafting a budget that fits your specific lifestyle.
I'm telling you, Reject Nation,
there's no greater feeling than when you look at the following month
and you see that, oh my God, I have saved money.
I've spent less, and progress equals happiness.
The best part is rocket money does a lot of the heavy lifting by analyzing your spending,
then customizes notifications to stay within your budget goals.
It's not just about saving money.
It's about actively seeing and feeling your financial progress.
And one of my favorite qualities about their service, too, is when it comes to monthly
subscriptions.
We've been blessed to be able to expand the team and hire more people, but with that in
mind, that also comes with a lot more expenses.
So as this business has been growing, having to track exuberant amount more has been just as
important. So now I have to track a lot of these business expenses. Then I got to track my own
personal finances. So in general, it's already been helping out a lot with that. But as you
want to make things more efficient, you often find yourself signing up for a lot of apps for
free trials that you quickly forget about. Next thing you know, you're paying a hefty fine for
it. I'm sure, even if you don't have a YouTube channel, there's some way you can relate with that.
You see, because they track your monthly subscriptions and they make it super easy to cancel the ones
you do not use. A couple of clicks and you're putting money back into your pocket. So if you're
like me, have you found hidden subscriptions or pay for services that you totally forgot about. Rocket
money was a lifesaver in uncovering those and even negotiated some of my bills to about, like I'd
say, down by 20%. So if you want to join me on this journey of consistently taking care of your
finances, do not want to start later. The best time is to start right now. So please do yourself
a favor. Check out Rocket Money and see how much you too can be saving. That way you can stop wasting
money on things you don't use. Believe me, when it came to you.
with my accountant and tax season. That was a really big note. Visit rocketmoney.com slash
rejects. They've helped me and I'm confident they'll do the same for you. That's rocketmoney.
com slash rejects. Your wallet will thank you. Because Rocket Money has over 5 million users and has
saved a total of $500 million and canceled subscriptions, saving members up to $740 a year when using
all of the app's features. So a great way to support your lifestyle and a great way to support
the channel is by going and downloading the Rocket Money app yourself. And if it does help,
you please go ahead draw me a message i'd love to hear if there's some way by just conveying this
message it has helped you out too thank you reject nation this one is crazy to me brad dorif who we know
is the voice of chucky recorded all of his lines in less than a day well i guess he doesn't
talk that much right come on i know all those everything in less than a day like that's really
crazy that's great that's unreal that he didn't
that. That's awesome.
This film was shot in 30 days.
Really tight.
Wow.
We found out the actress who plays Nika Fiona Dorff is a real-life daughter of Brad Dorff.
Love it.
With a runtime of 97 minutes, it is the longest film in the series.
Really?
Did not feel like that.
They all feel so tight, dude.
The knife that Charles Lee Ray uses during the flashback sequence is the same knife
Chuckie uses throughout the first child's play movie.
Yeah, it looks.
look like it too. The makers had a practical joke at a bus stop to promote the film. A billboard
of the movie's poster would light up and an actor dresses, Chuckie would suddenly burst through
the billboard and scare whoever was nearby. No, that would scare the crap out of me. Oh my gosh,
that's amazing. That is really true. If you guys find any video footage of that, probably not. But if you
can, leave it in the comments. I would love to see that. Okay, this is interesting. Don Mancini
described this film as his first real horror film as a director since Seed of Chucky 2004
was more of a comedy in his eyes. Yes. And I feel that 110%, which is why this one is like one of
my favorites, cinematically and the lighting, it was like, it was darker. It was more, it was more
subtle. There wasn't as much like, oh, Chuckie's going to say like a corny thing or he's going to be
jacking off in the window. It was like, no, he's coming for you and he's going to kill you. Like,
I think that's why this is one of my favorites.
But can I tell you something crazy about what are you saying
it's one of your favorites and me feeling that way too?
This is the first film in the series
to be direct to video release.
What?
Like I would love,
that's like,
I don't get it.
I don't get it because this one is great.
Like the script to me is just,
and the Easter egg with Jennifer coming in at the end,
like the audience would have loved that.
How about this?
Yeah.
At points during filming, oh, this is sad.
Chuckie's face had to be covered with tape because it legitimately scared the actress who played Alice.
Oh, yeah.
She was probably like, that's enough.
This is the longest time in the series before Brad Dorff as Chuckie speaks his first lines, which was 44 minutes in.
Yeah.
Okay.
Let's see.
Nika's father, Daniel's death is only shown in a deleted scene.
Yeah, I was wondering about that because you kept, yeah, yeah, right?
Only four of the eight of Chuckie's.
staple scars are unearthed in the attic scene that existed from bride of chucky there are three more on
his head and one on his right hand and like he's got the hair remember the hair that was stapled in
this is the first film in the series to be shot digitally oh not on film okay i saw it looked amazing still
still looked great brad dorf has said this is his favorite chucky movie hey man i i am i am with you i'm not
going to go over one, but I really, really love this part of the movie with the franchise.
Like, it's definitely one of the top ones.
Oh, this is an interesting one.
Nika's older sister Barb's full name is revealed to be Barbie, which is another famous doll.
That's what you was saying.
Oh, right.
Like another famous doll when Nika is calling to her from the bottom of the stairs.
That's funny.
Right.
I mean, famous doll.
Totally.
That makes sense.
Wow.
Okay.
so great such great
dude just such greatness
I can't get over this franchise
it does not miss
it's so good
how did this do in the box office bro
I gotta know you gotta know
especially when he
because oh it didn't even
it went direct to
it didn't go like
but let's see how much money it made
I bet you have made a decent amount of money
going straight there
they probably were like
all right we don't have to pay these theaters
I bet you have paid it
paid itself back it had to it
because this is a great movie
and it's so smart when he gases her out
in the garage
and he cuts the power and she can't get out.
Like, I love that too.
There's a lot of creativity in this, in the writing and in the script.
And also when they say words, like, I love it when she's in the elevator and she's like,
she says something like, come and get me, motherfucker.
And I believed every word I loved the way she delivered that.
And then he comes into her and she's just like, he's running himself into the knife.
Then finally she stabs him in the back.
I mean, it's just, I can't say
enough about this.
Oh, God.
I think I underguessed what the other ones were.
I'm going to say it was under what the,
maybe the last ones were, because those were big productions,
a big warehouse.
They mainly stayed in one location in this,
which is great, and it's a fantastic location.
Let me, I'm going to say,
am I allowed to ask what the one before this was?
I don't know.
I'm just going to go with,
50 million.
I'm going to really undercut it.
Like, but I think I was even going to say 40 because it's one.
I want you to remember this one straight to DVD.
Right.
Okay, wait.
And they already knew that.
Oh, all right.
I'm just going to tell you because it's taking too long.
30. Five.
What?
Five million dollar budget on this.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's freaking.
It's because I think the actors, too, like they didn't use massively famous people,
Jennifer Tilly at the end.
But like.
And there wasn't that many special effects.
And one location.
Yes, which would save a lot of money.
Five mil, but then it says that it grossed 3.8 mil, so that's gross.
But it went straight to DVD, babe.
Still, guys, like.
I know, that's crazy.
This should have been on the big screen.
This is a great film.
This is so, so, so good, dude.
So good.
It's so good.
Like, but all time it has grossed more than that.
I don't know.
I'm not seeing.
That annoys me.
I also want to look quickly at these actors because you and I were just like, who is that person that's so familiar?
The girl that played Barbie, let's see.
Oh, God of War, Insidious.
All right.
She's done a lot of different horror things.
I feel like I know her from something else, but I don't know.
Was there anybody that you were like, who is that?
Oh, the nanny, right?
Yeah, the nanny.
What was the nanny's name?
I don't remember.
Okay.
Well, that's not...
It's not helpful.
Not unbelievably helpful.
Was it Sarah?
No, I think it was like Jill or something, right?
Jill, Jill.
Okay.
She doesn't even have a picture on IMDB.
She doesn't?
No.
Injured cheerleaders?
That would make sense.
She looks like a cheerleader.
Yeah, okay.
I thought she was in a bunch of horrors.
Her most recent movie is called Chicks Dig Gay Guys.
Didn't see that one either.
All right.
Don't know it.
Okay.
Okay, enough facts, enough thoughts of
of that. I just can't get over this franchise. I can't get over how much I liked this.
I'm shocked to hear that this went straight to DVD. That's a crying shame. I hope that didn't
deter people from watching it. Travesty. Travesty, dude. Like, because this is a great, this is one of
the best ones of the whole thing. I don't understand it. But I can't tell you what's the worst
one. I mean, either. I mean, they're all really good. But like this one, when he said it's his
favorite, because it wasn't as funny and it's more, he's exactly right. Like, this is a film. It's
way more cinematic and way more horror.
I don't know that I liked this better than Bride and Seed.
That duo was crazy.
Yeah.
And I loved the original, I don't know.
It's hard to decide.
Yeah, we're going to have to rank them at some point, but not yet.
I'm not ready.
I'm not ready yet because I feel like this would be put even in a different genre than Seed and Bride.
Because Seed and Bride are funny and like a different, different vibe.
And this one is a totally different, like, kind of energy.
It's all Chuckie.
I don't know, but like, good job, y'all.
Really good. Really solid work. Let us know how you guys are feeling. Thank you so much for being here. If you're liking this watch along, you might like our purge one that we did. You might want to go check out Nightmare on Elm Street that we're doing right now. I hear in the future we're going to be doing Friday the 13th. So we're really becoming your scream queens, your horror horrors, your Terran Roxy, your she-jacks. You know it. Thanks for being here. Later, Reject Nation.
