This week's videos are brought to you by Price Picks, Some more on them in just a bit. I think I covered it all. Are you ready to get crazy in this rushed hour?
Starting point is 00:01:38 Tera. Let go. You guys, what a delight. Tara and I just watched Rush Hour 2. If you're listening to this on Apple or Spotify, give us five stars for Rush Hour 2. God damn. Tara, what did you think of Rush Hour, too?
Starting point is 00:02:00 It's so freaking good. It was so funny and so well-paced. And what I think I really appreciate about this movie a lot, although it's the same in the first one, is that they do such a good job of using their environment in all of the stunts. Like, with the cabinet doors hitting those guys, he uses the chairs roll over,
Starting point is 00:02:23 and then the plant, and then he uses the trash can on his foot. foot. And then they do where he spits the bomb out, it lands on the, like the blackjack table rolls around. He uses that as like a shield when they're fighting. I mean, the way that they utilize the environment and all of the stunts in these movies, I think is one of the smartest movies to actually do it. And then on top of that, to have a really good script, obviously great chemistry that we see between them but from the top what we get is what we what we love from the first one is that their friendship their camaraderie right off the bat we already have callbacks within the
Starting point is 00:03:05 first two minutes and then it's like it goes it just like takes off the whole time it was never it was never slow we got exactly what we wanted to out of this second movie and normally when you see like oh it's going to be a second movie you're sort of like are they going to make the first one seem way better. They actually did the opposite. I think this one was more fun, better paste. Even though I love the first one, I love the first one. This one is a better film to me altogether. Yes. Let me give you guys a little behind the scenes, a little sneaky pooh here at Real Rejects. So, Tara and I have had a very long day today. This is actually the third movie we're watching back to back.
Starting point is 00:03:52 And, you know, as you guys know, probably in life if you watch movies, you know, just the experience of going to the movie can, depending on the experience, be a little tiresome, right? But with this movie, I had so much fun. Yeah. And the movie itself just gives you life. It gives you energy. Absolutely. And also, the pacing is extremely well done. I didn't feel the hour and a half at all.
Starting point is 00:04:19 I was like, this might be one of the best pace movies I've ever seen. in life or on this channel period uh what i can definitively say i think this might be if not the best buddy cop action comedy i've seen like or ever ever yeah because it's so hilarious yeah the action is incredible the chemistry is on fire and though they don't waste any time because the first movie you have to spend time with jacky and spend time with chris tucker and then setting them up their individual motivations but this movie we're out the gate immediately and it's doesn't stop, it doesn't let off the gas. And you have that mini moment of Jackie Chan thinking that Chris Tucker was dead,
Starting point is 00:04:57 but then we immediately, like, two scenes later, resolved that conflict, which is okay because the main draw of this movie is their chemistry, is the comedy and the action. And all three of those things are working in spades in this movie. And it's really just the perfect film to just have and put on as this pure, just, I don't know, celebration of joy and film. And again, this is a movie that couldn't be made today. 2001, wow, it's over 20 years old.
Starting point is 00:05:27 That's awesome. And, you know, the thing about comedy, it's a very subjective experience. You know, not everybody finds the same thing's funny. Right. But I think this, from what I know, this is a well-loved movie. And I was watching it for the first time. It still holds up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:44 And it's just a testament to the writing and their chemistry. I'm sure there's some degree of improv there as well. No, there is. Yeah. Because he couldn't say Gaffilda fish. Right. Did I say that right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Gifilta, Gifilta fish. Yeah. But even though the extras were funny too. I mean, the bloopers were hilarious. Yeah, so good. So what are you waiting for? Price Fix,
Starting point is 00:07:35 run your game. Thank you for sponsoring this video. Yeah, I am just super duper impressed. I think it's the same directing, the same director as the last one. The plot is super straightforward, it easy to understand you know we get to the dynamic of the fish out of water in reverse yeah also they do a clever job of calling back the first movie without it feeling force yeah i agree without it over explaining it exactly and it just it just works in all levels like i like that jacky had a love interest i like that we up the ante with the action and with the comedy and just overall Oh, just a positive, really fun, fun time. And I know that there's one more rush hour as of right now.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Okay. And I think that they've been trying to make rush hour for happen for years. Fingers crossed that happens. Oh, my God, I would die if it happens. I would die because the chemistry is so good. I wonder if they still got the moves, you know, if they can still put it down. But if they don't, that's okay too. I'm just, you're there for them.
Starting point is 00:08:40 I bet you they can. I bet they can too. Yeah. And you're there for their chemistry. Exactly. Yeah. One more thing I'll add before we get to the trivia. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Is that Chris Tucker was putting some work in this movie. For sure. Because the last one, he was all comic relief and Jackie Chan was the action star. Where this one, he had some moves too. And the one where they partnered and they were like, two, too. And then in the massage parlor was an amazing scene. When they come together at the end and they're like back to back and they fight across each other, amazing choreography.
Starting point is 00:09:11 and he totally stepped up his game. He stepped up his game in every way. I agree. I absolutely agree. The scene where Carter and Leah are running down the street naked in Hong Kong was an actual take. Production could not block the street up for the shoot. What? That means real people in Hong Kong actually saw them running naked and that's probably why we see.
Starting point is 00:09:34 Did you hear all the horn honking? Hong Kong, they were probably like, what in the F is going on? That is an amazing tribute. Don Cheadle agreed to do this movie only if he got to fight Jackie Chan and speak Japanese. That's great. The counterfeit dollar bills using the movie say, in dog we trust. During shooting, some extras walked off the set with some of the fake cash and it eventually ended up in a few casinos in Las Vegas. What?
Starting point is 00:10:03 The situation went so out of control that production was briefly shut down when FBI subjected. the props department to an investigation to determine whether or not they violated the counterfeit deterrence act of 1992. Wow. The props made really good counterfeit money. Nice job.
Starting point is 00:10:24 I'll read one more. In an interview, director, Brett Ratner admitted that the first part of the karaoke scene with Chris Tucker was not supposed to be filmed. Tucker refused to act like Michael Jackson with the cameras running. Between takes, went up as entertainment for everyone.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Secretly Ratner told the cameraman to film it, but to not let Tucker notice them. Wow. Sneaky. I'm wondering if, like, Chris Tucker was upset when he saw that that footage made it into the film or if he was just like, eh, it's fine. I don't know why he didn't want to do it.
Starting point is 00:11:03 That's fascinating. I know. I wish that that was in there, but it wasn't. But I love that Brett did that, very smart because when you see actors that are like off camera and you think you're getting good stuff it's always fun to just like roll on that without them noting yeah yeah I think that's awesome I love this movie I can't wait I really hope they make a fourth one like I love these same I love them so much let us know if you guys want us to do rush hour three probably into rush hour three
Starting point is 00:11:33 I'm sure yeah we're already too deep come on we will riot if we don't get to we'll flip table and do all kinds of things. But guys, that'll be us for us today. Thank you so much for watching. We love you. We'll see you in the next one. Doses.
