The Rosary in a Year (with Fr. Mark-Mary Ames) - Day 348: The Glorious Mysteries

Episode Date: December 14, 2025

Fr. Mark-Mary leads us in the Rosary, centering our meditations around hope. We’re reminded of the message both Christ and the Angel share: to not be afraid, the Apostles’ assiduous prayer of hope... before Pentecost, and the promise revealed in Mary’s Assumption. Today's focus is the Glorious Mysteries, and we’ll be praying the full Rosary. For the complete prayer plan, visit https://ascensionpress.com/riy.

Starting point is 00:07:38 mercy. The second glorious mystery is the ascension. Earlier we looked at a painting entitled The Ascension of the Lord by Bernardino Gandino. If you recall, there was a very specific detail that Jesus ascending into heaven, but there's footprints from where he began his assent. And we looked at how this kind of perspective on like footprints or footsteps fits with some of the writings and the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi, who encourages his followers to follow in the footsteps of Christ. Like little by little, pocoa poeco, step by step, just as Jesus did.
Starting point is 00:08:23 And so today, let us meditate on the second glorious mystery, the ascension of our Lord, and be reminded that following in his very footsteps, following in his footsteps, is what will lead us to heaven with him. our father who art in heaven hallow be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed are thou thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Oh, my Jesus, forgive us our sins. save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. The third glorious mystery is the descent of the Holy Spirit's. Acts chapter 1, verse 14 reads, all these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brethren. The apostles of Mary are praying for nine days between the Ascension and Pentecost, meaning this time of prayer is the very first novena. Plus, like, the Greek word here, it suggests that they prayed with patient
Starting point is 00:12:40 assiduousness, even like a stubbornness. That means that the prayer in this mystery, it's a prayer of the most complete dedication of the heart and will. As we pray, like, let's ask to pray like Mary and the apostles did in the upper room awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit of Pentecost. Let's pray with patient assiduousness and even like a stubborn perseverance made firm and strong through radical and total hope and confidence in our loving Father. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against

Matthew chapter 19, Peter asked Jesus what he can expect being a disciple of the Lord.
Starting point is 00:16:58 And Jesus responds in Matthew chapter 19 and verse 29 saying, and everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for my namesake will receive a hundredfold and inherit eternal life. And what we can read in here is that there's a cost, but most importantly what he's saying is that, like, God is never going to be outdone in generosity. Whatever you give up in obedience for following him, right? Like, you don't lose the good, ultimately, but it's going to be repaid 100-fold. And Mary's assumption is a testament to the fulfillment of this promise.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Mary said yes to God, and she went through many, like, experiences of deep suffering and pain and poverty in her life. But now she reigns forever. in heaven the promise of his not being outdone in generosity like it was fulfilled in mary and it will be fulfilled in your life in mine as well our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, amen.

Starting point is 00:21:35 The fifth glorious mystery is the coronation of Mary's queen of heaven and earth as we conclude our rosary today with this last decade. Let's just take a moment to venerate our lady. to venerate Mary, our queen. Jesus, right, he is the king who reigns forever and Mary, his mother, and our mother is the queen of heaven and earth. Let's just kind of rest there, right?
Starting point is 00:22:00 Let's contemplate the beauty of our king and queen and give honor to them as we pray this final decade. Our father, who art in heaven, hallow be thy name.
