But what is this exact quote from there is this, do not be afraid. May you experience the risen Lord. speak these words to you again. Do not be afraid. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. The second glory's mystery is the ascension. It's a little embarrassing, but it's true. that when one of my favorite athletes, there's only a couple on this list, but when they have
Starting point is 00:08:18 a great game or when they win a championship or when they get some sort of award, I get actually I get embarrassingly happy. I don't know. I'm like, I'm connected. I'm invested in these people, not just because of their athleticism, but like I pick my favorites because of who they are as people. And it just makes me so happy. And I don't know these guys. I'm simply a fan. but there's something to this that I want to sort of capture and then apply to the joy of the apostles before Jesus like ascending into heaven. Luke 2452 to 53 says this. They worshipped him and they returned to Jerusalem with great joy and we're continually in the temple blessing God. I believe that there is an invitation in Jesus' ascension to like the disciples.
Starting point is 00:09:11 to experience great joy at the victory, the ascension of the Lord. And if I can get this great joy because of a baseball player or a basketball player, how much more joy is possible for me before the victory, the ascension of my God, to whom I am a disciple, the one I adore, the one I love? Well, does that to love Jesus more? and to experience a greater joy before his victory, before his ascension. Our Father, who art in heaven,
Starting point is 00:09:47 hallow be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Starting point is 00:10:06 Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us, sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God.
Starting point is 00:10:36 of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women. and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners. Now and at the hour of our death, amen.
Starting point is 00:12:28 Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
Starting point is 00:13:23 The third, glorious mystery is the descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. With our second mystery today, we were praying really for an increase in joy. and with this mystery we're going to ask for an increase in awe Acts chapter 2 verse 12 which situates us at Pentecost says all were amazed and perplexed saying to one another what does this mean before this manifestation of God the descent of the Holy Spirit and the works the Holy Spirit began to work immediately through the apostles
Starting point is 00:13:52 God is awesome his works are awesome his ways are awesome. It's something before us, which doesn't leave us confused, like, empty, but it breaks through, like, our capacity for total comprehension. And, like, even it breaks through our capacity to, like, properly value something. It's so beautiful, so big, so glorious, so, like, majestic. And this is God. And this is God's ways and God's work. and to experience the fullness of awe before him, we actually need him.
Starting point is 00:14:40 We need the grace for the Holy Spirit. So we ask as we pray for more of the Holy Spirit, for greater awe before God and His works, and that we ourselves may be so filled, so transformed by the Spirit of God, that we might actually become causes of awe, towards God and those we encounter those we meet, those we serve, those we listen to, those we love. Jesus, fill us with awe towards you, and make us through your grace causes of joy
Starting point is 00:15:18 that bring others to awe of you as well. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen hail mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb jesus holy mary Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. The fourth glorious mystery is the assumption. I like us to pray with the assumption from a very similar paradigm with which we were praying with
Starting point is 00:19:11 the ascension. We see Mary being assumed into heaven, body and soul. We see Jesus' victory in her and her share in this victory. May we experience great joy at the assumption of Mary as the one we love, the one we love, gets her definitive share like in the promises of the father and in the victory of her son. Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us
