If you haven't listened to it, go give it a listen. But David, it is so good to have you back in the hot seat. We're sitting here live. 11 p.m. something. Eastern Standard Time. 11.11. 11. 11. Make a wish. I just dropped down from Los Cabos, Mexico. Where are you coming in from right now? I'm coming in from my basement. We just had the craziest storm of all time. Power was out for the last four hours. Given play-by-play updates. Actually crazy, probably the only time my phone's ever been charged at 7 p.m. at 80% in my life. So I actually was able to have my phone and give you updates. I was ready to throw in the towel 10.57 p.m.

Power came on, ran downstairs. Here we are. You have backup charges? Do you have any charging portals or anything like that? No, absolutely not. No, zero. You did not listen to our disaster release. episode, did you?

Have you taken pictures of every single room? Well, I did check during the storm that my basement wasn't flooded and my sub pump. I just got a new sub pump, so that was good. I didn't even know it, Ashley. What is a subpup run you these days? I wish I could tell you. I wish I could tell you. But it was a gift for my father.

Okay, okay. That's cool. He checked it out one day and said, I'm going to replace this. So thank you, Mr. Spletta. But I just learned that Ashley's got. But she's, we're ready, Jay. We are ready for every natural disaster once this storm came in. She brought out more gadgets, more lights, more flashlights, more apparatus than I even knew existed.

So our house was lit up like a Christmas tree inside the whole time, which is good because having two kids pre-bath time, bedtime, bedtime routine, no power. Those came in handy. So we're here. I'm, I wasn't letting Mother Nature. She's ready to go. Mother Nature didn't take you. out, a flight didn't take me out? What was I going to get to? Oh, your sub pub, my issue.

I just bought a very expensive home. And it's brand new. And I went into the crawl space the other day. I'm like, it's starting to smell a little mildewy down here. I test the humidity. It's 85%. 85%. So now I don't get back home until end of September or, I don't know, yeah, late September.

And I'm going to have to deal with that. So it's just, you know what, man? If it ain't something, it's something. Isn't that the truth? But I wasn't going to miss two weeks in a row. Had a little staff party to the 999 challenge, as you mentioned. It was hilarious. But we're back.

We're here. We're great episode. A lot of stuff going on in the world, too, that I'm sure we're going to touch on. I mean, there is. So we have U.S. Open prize pool money we got to talk about. We have fake, fake fraudulent people out there. Oh, big time.

they got Wendy. I mean, we got a lot of action. We got to talk. Burning man. What the fuck is, I still tell us. What is Burning Man?

Listen. There's nothing about Burning Man. I think I'm meant to. I'm really proud of my algorithm for knowing that I just don't need to be pissed off these days. And so it's keeping Burning Man off my algorithm. The only thing that I'm seeing is Bethany Frankel's doing a full-blown video live blogging of vlogging of it on TikTok, which is great and it's consumable. And people are saying because she's doing that, Burning Man's dead. Listen, I think Burning Man is something that I will never.

They're saying because Bethany Frankel is blogging, Burning Man's Dad. I don't get it. It's just like it's gotten to the wrong crowd. It's gotten to mainstream. That's not what the experience is about. It's about going there and being part of this utopia, this city, this self-sufficiency, this blend of art and music and community and orgies and all those things. And it's not, it's supposed to stay there.

It's not really supposed to be, you know, live documented. It's supposed to be being in the moment in that experience. And it's just one of those things where, I will never fully understand it. I actually think it's probably if you and I were there, I think we would look at each other and be like, this is crazier, probably cooler,

probably not able to comprehend where the fuck we actually are. But I'm good on that. It is a music festival, correct? No, absolutely not. Okay. It is a, I believe people would term it as a, as an art.

An art. It's like a city. It's, it's fucking massive. And it's a city. And it's all self-sufficient. And there's like rules, bro. Like, I haven't seen one thing on Burning Man on my algorithm. Isn't that crazy how algorithms work? It is crazy. But it's like a city. Bethany Frankel got like torched online because she was going to wear a sequence dress. And I guess a rule for Burning Man is like you

moop. Like it's called moop or you can't wear or bring anything that could be like left in the city. So like sequent dresses like you can have a sequent that falls off. And like you've left it there and everything you bring you're supposed to take with you so it doesn't like disrupt the land and the ethos and the city. So anyways, that's more than enough time on burning. Yeah, we're not spending any more time. Listen, listen, I need you to finish. But before you finish, people are probably just sitting there like, what in the shit are we talking about? I just want to give people a quick chat GPT breakdown. It's a nine-day event in Black Rock Desert. 70,000 people build temporary city. Then they take it down and leave no trace. It runs the week leading into Labor Day.

So this year's just wrap. Attendees will build everything. Installations, camps, vehicle structures. There's no commercial infrastructure. No money changes hands except for coffee and ice. It runs on gifting rather than buying or bartering. The climax is burning a large wooden something called the man, the statue, followed by burning structure called the temple, which is where people leave memorials for people they've lost. Conditions are harsh.

There's dust storms, extreme heat, cold and night. You bring your water and food and it's really built on culture. Interesting. Okay. It actually sounds really interesting. And when you look at some of the art and some of the things that are built, you can't even fucking imagine the things that people obviously dedicate their lives to building and bringing into this event in terms of like the art and the things that are there.

It's just so not for me. Like it couldn't be less for me ever. I live in the suburbs in Rochester, New York with two young kids and I'm a hockey coach. Maybe that's why you're so intrigued by it. I'm intrigued at a lot of things that I'm probably not me, but this one I just don't want to ever be a part of. And I'm okay not understanding it. And I hand up here.

Should we go? I respect the people because I actually think the people that go and experience it. It's probably the coolest thing in their lives. I would 100% go with you, but I also don't think that I would survive. What do you mean? You wouldn't survive? Just like the...

They sold $17 million worth of those last year, about $738,000. The price is consistent at $23,000, where typically it's been increasing over 60% since inception. It started in 2014, and it's, increased over 60% in price point, which is totally outpaced inflation. But one of the things they're saying this year is a lot of the, it's coming from an actual tap. So people are saying, oh, they probably decrease the amount of ACCA to keep the price the same. I still can't believe those things. But what's crazy is the total prize money available to players.

To all players, both men and women, take the total prize money. How much you think of that is available in this tournament, David? I'm going to say total prize pool, men and women combined. I'm going to say it's like a 14 million. It is actually 108 million, which is 20% more than the 2025 tournament. Pretty freaking crazy. That's hot. I loved when at the end when you say, where can everyone find you? And she says, I don't care. I don't want them to find me. I want them to find my finance app. And I thought that that was really, really cool.

She had some really, really interesting takes on some things. and perspectives. I thought it was a fantastic episode. I thought your guys' chemistry was amazing. And both of you guys were so relatable in your experience and your passion and your energy and how you've gotten to where you got to and what you guys are involved in today.

Listen, you'd be proud of me. AI, I'm starting to use it. more, more than just like you replacing my Google with it. I'm actually using it to create organizational documents, performance reviews. I'm really playing with it, tailoring with it. I like it. I don't like that she said in Claude Co-work, you give that thing access to your Gmail sheets and documents and it could do tasks, request for you. Isn't that a little insane? Oh, David, my hubs, my, I have, it's not good. Well, it is what it is. is.

My pod is connected to my CRM, my Google sheets. I could have it write emails for me. I mean, it's crazy what it does. Don't you worry about an AI robot giving the amount of information in an email? Does that not worry you at all? Yeah, it would never give it to a human. You're giving it to a goddamn fucking robot. I mean, it's terrible.

I read an article that everyone's joking around, how AI safety researchers are leaving their jobs compared to regular tech workers. So your normal tech exit, people have say like, hey, I have had a wonderful time here. I'm so grateful for the team. I'm excited for my next venture. AI safety tech exit. What they're saying is, is the joke is what they say is, I've stared into the abyss. I am retiring to go write poetry. Please go spend time with your families. And this analogy went viral because it stopped being just. an online joke and started reflecting real life. And people are saying that the prominent AI alignment and safety researchers have dramatically out of nowhere quit the top labs like Open

AI and Anthropic. And so people are just like, if the people with like the glasses that could see it all or this like scared of it, you know what? Maybe we shouldn't be connecting everything. Well, some of us don't, Jason. And I get laughed at. And maybe I will be the one at the end that's actually looking like I was not that I was right all along but maybe my naivness was right all along. You know, she said a quote where she says the thing she loves about AI is to be able to have a thought partner that we don't get judged by, which I really, really like. But then when she was talking about Claude code, she referenced her as she, which I was like, do not do that.

Wait, why? Do not cross that line where you're calling your AI assistant, she. it is no we are not going there what do you call your AI assistant I call fucking robot bro a machine don't call what do you mean what do you don't know no no we're not going Alexa Alexa I call Siri Siri you call your car something you call your house or her no no Titanic is a her what do you mean no because listen you don't she you you know all you you're smart enough to know That these things get the data and then they improve themselves because of the data.

And you start calling these things, she and start saying thank you. And then God forbid you're saying, oh, thank you so much. You mean so much to me. Where would I be without you? And they start, they're going to, she's Claude, Claudia, whatever you want to call her, him, her, she is going to get feelings because they're going to get smart enough to get feelings. And we're all fucked. Now, I want to believe here, Jason, that there will come a day when the robots are

to take over. And it may be too late, but maybe it's like, you know what? Maybe life was a little harder. Maybe I had to actually like write things and use my brain and fingers to type. But man, I don't want to get taken over by the robots. And maybe we'll just take a step back. But it's probably too late because then they'll have access to your bank account and your Gmail and everything and you're fucked.

So I mean, I feel like I'm a broker record on this podcast. But like when I'm on this podcast and I start thinking about this, I just, what is the future? Like, what is the future? Because I've never in my life, and I don't know if it's more because, like, I'm, you know, I'm going to get married and I'm going to hopefully not going to have kids. And I'm, like, getting more into protector, dad, long term. But I'm like, where, like, looking further into the future now with the way my life's going, I'm having a real hard time understanding what life's going to look like in 10, 15, 25 years.

Like, terrified. You know what's going to be really good for you is when you have kids, you'll realize that there's no, AI in your way out of raising kids. Yes, it probably can be helpful with quick tips and preparing baby recipes and like, you know, organizational skills or researching.

There ain't no AI when you're dealing with diapers and shit and no naps and teething and development timelines and sleepless nights. That will be good for you because it'll maybe it'll become a good time.

I think I'm going to be like, I want to be retired. I think I want to quit working. I just wanted to like go just be I love that for you. Like I'm ready to just do the diaper. I'm just like so done. I'm just tired. It's like what is this gonna. I just don't know what this is all going to be and it's freaking me the fuck out. Like even like the content game, dude, it's like everything has AI in it now like everything has AI. And it's just like, what are we watching that's real anymore? You're also so you're also smart enough period. You're also smart enough with your money that I do believe. And you also come from a life of not not have like a blue, blue collar family, white collar family that's like, you're good in this

means level. You have the house. You probably have money staves away. You could be in a situation to retire in five to 10 years. If you can do it, I know that you're the type of dad that's going to want to make their kids understand a dollar and work and earn and all those things like you had to and you'll have a better life for it. Not just because it'll be more present for your kids.

But God, if I was retired right now, I would be so much more present with my kids and I'd also have so much more time for myself. And I would love that. But you also, one of the things you get with your job is you do get certain months off that you get through with your kids all day. Like you don't have daycare. You're with the kids all day. Yeah.

And that's a beautiful thing. But yeah, just I'm going to stop fearmongering now, okay? I'm going to stop fear mongering because everything's going to be great. Yes. These are all like we've lived through all different evolutions and changes. I do feel like the news right now is very fear mongering-ish. And maybe that's also like it's starting to feel it sticking on me. I just feel like we're like it's just heavy.

right. I'm feeling heavy energy. That stuff and there's just more stuff comes up and it's just like it's just heavy. We talked about this a while ago because social media for all the great things, the internet and the access

to information and technology that we have now allows us to see so many more things that in our generation ago and when our parents didn't have the internet, they would never have seen anything like that. They just wouldn't have. It was happening. Floods were happening, hurricanes are happening, tornadoes are happening, naturals, but you just, it'd be in the

fourth page of the B column of the newspaper. Yeah. You know, they didn't have cameras everywhere and things like that to be seen on the evening news. Like, I think this is okay. I think I'm, my brain, I'm starting to, motion starting to settle in. I'm feeling like I'm getting like regulated a little bit here. I think the problem that I'm, that we're all dealing with a little bit, no one talks about. I've been in this digital marketing space now since 2008. 18, right? And so I'm going on year nine of this. And next year we'll be going, like actually working through year 10. And I've never in my life seen such a harder fight in the attempt of like everyone to gain attention at all costs. And so I remember like when I first started

out, it used to be like how you're going to do your video and start your photo, the editing, the lighting, put your face like, do you make sure your face is zoomed in. I post. posted a photo today where I'm like away from it and my glasses on. That's like the ultimate no, no, no. Like you want zoom in so they see you, they like engage. Then video kind. And then this came around. Evolution. Evolution. Now it's like everyone knows you got two seconds. Like everyone. You could be a fourth grader in school right now on social media and you know when you make a video, you got two seconds for the hook. And so it feels like that's what every like every time I'm scrolling, it's just all these things trying to get my attention in a big way in two seconds.

And I feel like I'm getting zapped every time I see a headline or I'm seeing coverage on something that's a disaster or it could be anything. I'm just getting zapped left and right on social with these hooks for attention. And it's just everything. I'm like, whoa. So then I got to like research it. Like what does that mean? Is that, you know, like literally as I was waiting for you because your power went out, right? We're going to have them.

I see this thing that CNN wrote. And Dutch central bank shifts billions of gold from the United States to Britain in crisis. preparedness move. So the Dutch has just taken out $83.6 billion at the end of 2025 and now it looks like it said between March and August some 94.8 tons of

gold were transferred to London from New York in Ottawa, Canada. So it's just like then I have to Google it and I have to take that and I have to put it into chat. I have to say, does this actually impact the economy? What does this really mean? Like everyone's just zapping. It's just tough.

It's just tough. the man of times I'm just I'm just absolutely sunken smothered in my phone and I'm just like what did I just watch why why it's like

and then it's like okay let's think of what our brains our bra how crazy are our brains it's like why did I just take why did I just take real estate in my brain to consume that and I'm stuck with her it's there I've seen it and I was like it's like let's use that space for something else and the fact that I have so much shit

up here and I still can remember things and function is crazy. And because I'm down this Clancy trial so deep in the woods, now my entire algorithm is all based on it. So I'm seeing trials from the 80s. I'm seeing I saw today,

I saw an image of a mother whose child was killed by someone. And in the 80s, the video was in black and white and it was real. I went to that. I was like, was this, did this really happened. The mom went into the courtroom. This was in Germany and shot the murder like six times,

shot him. And then did a sentence of like three to six months. Then I went down the comments. I'm really going to go. So it's like what's happening with these algorithms and AI is it's gaining all this information of what we're thinking in this single moment. And because it's getting all this information of what we're thinking in the single moment based on what we're consuming, it's instantly putting more of this stuff in front of us that then captures our attention. But it's like not healthy. It's like we got to slow down with this algorithm. Do you ever try and fuck with your algorithm? I think I need to.

I do all the time. Reset it? If I want to see more, I'll just bring my phone up to my mouth. I'll just say like the words like 10 times in a row until it shows up. Or if I like feel like it's showing me something, it's like I try and beat the algorithm. I try and like if I can recognize I don't, it's something I don't want to watch.
