Starting point is 00:00:03 Pickax. There's no shortcut for saving time, but saving money is simple. Just combine your car and home insurance with Bel Air Direct and save. It's why we craft our premium vodka in France using pure spring water from Jenzac. And why you hear the celebratory pub of our quirk reminding us to make every martini cocktail count. So go on and make every moment count because there's no better time than now.
Starting point is 00:00:44 Gregus, make time wait. Sip responsibly. Hello, everyone. Welcome back to this highly professional podcast that we do. Where we're all highly professional professionals. We do it in snatched secret minutes where we're hiding from our families and responsibilities. Yes. We're doing it in our homes.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Yes. And we have, you know, we're busy up until the very point that we're recording. We're rushing around, sending kids off to school. Like, I'm dealing with workmen. I'm sending emails. I'm answering phone calls. I'm texting. And then I sit down.
Starting point is 00:01:29 We do a stolen hour. Man, I literally did all those things this morning. In 32 degree heat. I dropped off my kids from school to school in 32 degree heat. And then I had to go get birthday presents for one of my kids next week. It's their birthday. And then while I was driving back, a plumber phone. me while I was driving and I did the hands free in the car and then an ambulance forced me to like
Starting point is 00:01:50 pull over to get by and stuff. It's been a morning. Perian called me last night and we just had a little chat on WhatsApp and I realized immediately on the video call that he wasn't he was topless. Yeah, I wasn't expecting a video call. And you've got this. Was it actually a big gold chain? I thought you were going to say it was like an AI Peary and Flax. No, yeah. I got a gold chain. Hello Lewis. What is your pin number? You're so good at turning me on. So it was very sexy, P-Flax, to see you in the new. But also, I kind of got a very, because the gold chain you wear is quite thick on your.
Starting point is 00:02:31 And I don't know if I'd, if I took my shirt off, I'd also take the gold chain off. But is it nice to feel that metal? Take it off. What do you mean? It stays all the time. It's annoying to take a necklace off and on. I just leave, I wear all my jewelry all the time. I have two neckplaces and two rings.
Starting point is 00:02:47 You've got to have his iced down medallions on all the time. I would have a bigger one if I did. You'd be like a real pimp baller with like a big clock around your neck. Yeah, you could get rings that say that spell out the word pimp on your fingers as well. Bad motherfucker. That's what I'd have just spelled out around my neck. Bad mamma jam. I want to apologize first of all for the noise. To me.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Don't worry. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. I've got the fan on here in my office. So if you pick it up. And also, sorry, Tom, I don't know if you can edit it out, but it's also apologies to periods family who can hear him doing this podcast as the doors open. The door's open. Mrs. F is working in the next room.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I do want to say as well, whilst Lewis and I were on a video call, he then just took me into the office and was like talking to me on the video call and saying, hey, say hi to X. And I'm just there topless. And I was like, so I ducked down and held my phones. You could just see my head. Yeah, it was. Lewis is on his iPad with his cam girls again. Well, I guess I immediately, no, I could only really see the egg of your head. Well, you couldn't really see nipple or anything.
Starting point is 00:03:52 And honestly, I was hoping that there's this thing that happens where, you know, if someone sees, yeah, it's hoping that all the people in the office would react to seeing you topless by getting topless. I see. Well, that's, yes, indeed. But it didn't happen. It was only me, Nick, Rich, Daff. Just a bunch of legs. We could have done it, honestly. Also, let's be honest, I think men big topless is no big.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Like, it's not really, it's seen as acceptable. No, biggie, no. Just rat around each other. It's just a lot of topless man. I don't know if it's acceptable. I think that people just can't be bothered calling them up on it. I saw a guy riding, like it was like a little clown bike. It was a bike that was like 10 times too small for him.
Starting point is 00:04:35 He was riding down the road in traffic, no helmet on. And he had a button up shirt completely unbuttoned. and he had his big bobandy belly sticking out. And I think everybody saw him and it was just like, whatever. Like, I'm not even... What do you think they should have said to him? Well, I don't know. Good on you, mate.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Put your shirt. High five. Do up your shirt. Do that shirt up, sir. And where's your hat? This is England. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:03 I don't know. There is this strange... We always talk about it, how detached we get when it's in the middle of winter. We sort of forget that there was a time. when we were able to go out in a t-shirt and that was possible. I know. You almost don't believe it. You're almost like, how did we go out in T-shirts?
Starting point is 00:05:22 I know, it doesn't seem possible in the winter. When you step outside, you're like, I can't believe sometimes it's hot. And then when it is hot, it's like, oh, my God, will it ever be cold again? Like, it's just, there's no, there's no nice in between. It's like to be cold. Yeah. It's just like, like, very fucking punishing heat or really miserably damp cold. There's nothing in between that
Starting point is 00:05:45 It's just those two now There was a little window this morning Where I was like having a little bit of toast outside And I just breathed in the fresh air And I was like oh And then I heard a bird sound And I was like what the fuck is that bird? Yeah
Starting point is 00:05:57 And I got my phone out You got your gun out Then I reached for my pistol I got my gun And I went hunting I got my dad I'm so annoyed Did I tell you this fact
Starting point is 00:06:08 What is the most numerous wild bird In the UK The brown tit, the blue tit, the bush tit. I'm going to say the starling. Starling? People are going to say the rock dove, so the pigeon, but I would say the starling. I'm going to say the orial. No, I'm going to say the magpie.
Starting point is 00:06:25 No, I'm going to say. Oriole. We don't get Orioles. No, what is it now? It's like, is it a parakeet or there's like some. Oh, yeah. There's like an exotic. There's like an exotic bird that is like an invasive species.
Starting point is 00:06:37 They live around my way. Oh, I love those boys, the little green parakeets. Yeah, but they are invasive. Yes. Yeah, but they're not very good. They're not good. If you've ever had a pet bird, you realize they're really hopeless. Yeah, we want our country back, our country back.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Get those parakeets out. They don't belong here. I thought that there was some environmental damage that they did. I could be wrong. Well, here's the thing. Like, what I heard in the garden was a pheasant. And between 40 and 50 million pheasants are released into the UK countryside every year by the shooting industry.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Yes, of course. So you're worried about invasive birds, P-Flax. The rich people are shooting, or at least releasing, 50 million peasants, and including peasants or pheasants. It's like the hunger game. They see no difference in between the two. They're releasing, but in addition, they release about 10 or 20 million partridges and mallards and other non-native.
Starting point is 00:07:35 It can't be that many millions, surely. Where are they growing? 40 or 50 million. They grow them, they like hatched them. they like hatched them out of eggs and when they're about two to three months old they release them
Starting point is 00:07:46 do they have just a huge warehouses just full of pheasant just a battery a partridge battery somewhere you can just imagine it happens all over the UK it's just the rich people it's insane
Starting point is 00:07:59 and it's just for people to shoot so when I ask you what the most numerous wild bird is in fact you know the things like the the wren has like 10 million pairs breeding pairs you know, that's five times less than the amount of pheasants we just throw out into the country. Well, Lulu, if I may, are these, do these count as wild animals if they would have been grown
Starting point is 00:08:20 from scratch and then released? I mean, it's kind of cheating. What's the most, they are, they are shit. What's the most voluminous naturally wild animal? As in ones that haven't been bred. A badger. Yeah. No, no, of birds, I mean. And it's definitely not badgers. It's going to be rats or mites or something, but I mean, in terms of birds, what is the most naturally abundant? It says it's Robbins, House Sparrows, and Wood Pigeons, according to you. Yeah, wood pigeons are the ones that, they're not like city pigeons. They got like a longer neck. They're very sweet.
Starting point is 00:08:50 And they are sweet. They're fatter, yeah. And they go. And they go. Yes. Do do do do do. Yes. Endlessly.
Starting point is 00:09:01 I love that. Man, I feel like I was just outside for a second, which made me feel uncomfortable. Do do. Do do. Shut up. Shut up. That's their mating call. That's how they...
Starting point is 00:09:17 We've had a couple of wood pigeons around our place ever since we moved in, really. And sometimes when we put feed out for the birds, which we normally do, but we just haven't like recently for no particular reason, we used to see them all the time.
Starting point is 00:09:35 And now that we haven't put any feed out, I still see them, but they're like, kind of like on the outskirts of our property, like, just like looking like, oh, I wonder if there's going to be some more food here at some point, you know, like, they're clever, you know, they don't just like, they don't just turn up unless there's something in it for them, but. Well, yeah, I mean, you know, the ones I used to feed on my windowsill, occasionally they still turn up and peer in at me. Yeah, that was a year ago.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Yeah, yeah. And they're still like, uh, we're still doing this? Yeah. And I'm like, no. And I'm like, okay. Yeah. Yeah. It was, they, they do remember.
Starting point is 00:10:07 But I think, like most animals, and Aggie is no different from this. I'm sure anyone with a dog is the same, if they've ever been into a shop and the person in the shop gave them a treat, they will never forget that shop. Yeah. Like every single source of food. Yeah, they will always try to. They will never forget. They'll try to go back.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Yeah. They need to remember that kind of shit. Yeah. So anywhere we've been where she's been given a treat, we'll go past the shop. She'll be pulling to go in, like, we're going in, going into the shop? Yeah. More treats? She's like, okay.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Passing up free treats. But sure. Yeah. Yeah, she looks incredulous. I have done absolutely nothing this morning. I know you guys have busy lives. I wish I had your I have done absolutely nothing this morning life. I want that one. You'll get there. I need that now. I'm getting to the point now where there's just too much stuff. Like, uh, and it's not like, oh my fuck. I don't want to complain because it's like it's dad's stuff, you know, like, but it is, man, it's like it's fucking all the time. It's incessant. Like I just, I feel like I have this like enormous task list all the time. And none of it. I don't know. I don't of it. I. I don't know. want to do. I don't want to do a single thing on there. So I procrastinate and procrastinate and try to fobb it off and hope it goes away. And the list just gets bigger and bigger and bigger. And it's like, oh my God, I'm going to be crushed under this list of tasks. Like there's just nonstop tasks all the time. For me, it's the tasks are largely just organizing people to do things. But the thing is those people doing things, they need me to make decisions for why I actually want. Like, you know, looking at the kitchen, right? All the works offices are all fucked. And all the, all the
Starting point is 00:11:37 grousing's gone and all the all the grouthings gone grousing gone and the kitchen's bark and the kitchen's it's leaking in the roofing I ate some toast was eating toast and so I have to decide
Starting point is 00:11:55 on like the color of the wood because I want to get these work services sanded and I sand a bit but it's hard to tell what it's going to look like what are you getting like some butcher block kind of style surfaces like are you You're getting like a woodman. So I've already got those. That's nice.
Starting point is 00:12:09 That's nice. Really scabby. You want to put a bit of lacquer on that. Like not like thick though, not like thick, sticky lacquer. You want like a like you like. Stop talking. You know, like it's almost like a, like an oil. I don't recommend lack.
Starting point is 00:12:21 I don't recommend. It's like an oil. Yeah, it's an oil. It's soaks into the wood. It soaks into the wood. You have to redo it every few years. Yeah, but it gives it such an amazing finish. Oh, God, it's a lovely finish.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Oh, that finish. Oh, that finish. Oh, so I've, oh, oh, I love a good finish. I love to finish, but that's not what we're talking about. I've got some to decide on the colors of the stone bits that are like, because there's a hole in one. We're at to take away this old, heat old hob. What about some sandstone paving? The only thing is if you get sandstone is you do have to like every once in a while you have to treat it.
Starting point is 00:12:56 You need like an ammonia solution or something. Basically, I have to go to a stone. There's a stone yard called like Planet Stone. I have to go there and pick out some stone. I have to go to a tiling. shop. Yeah. And I have to pick out some tiles that go on the wall. I have to pick up a pick up, choose a paint for the wall, a paint for the, for the, um, wooden area. And then also decide which bits are being done as wood and which bits is steak. And it's impossible to make these
Starting point is 00:13:22 decisions. And it's not just that. There's 20 more because I have to choose all the things for the, the tap and the, the screws and the knobs. And it's just never, it's like the tar, I'm so paralyzed. He's joking on it. He's, he can't. He's like, I just, it's like, I feel like I can't do one until I've done the other, but then I don't want to, but I don't know about that. So I can't do anything. So I'm just paralyzed. And then I just sort of push it off and forget about it.
Starting point is 00:13:48 And then two weeks later ago, messages me and I feel really guilty. I don't envy this. Yeah, tell us about your morning, Flex. I want to hear this. Let me, let me tell you about what I did yesterday. This is my whole day. So to give you an idea of where you can get to once the kids are grown up and everything's chill. Nothing needs to be done for the house. This was my dear. Got up at about nine, had a cup of coffee,
Starting point is 00:14:11 had a protein bar because I was too lazy to make your kids just get themselves off to school. My eldest has finished school. He's done with college until after the summer. So he's just being chilling. Youngest, 14, straight off to school, out the door just after eight. She's ready to go, bam, didn't even see her in the morning. Oh my God. So 10 a.m. I go to the gym. I stroll in, have my session, come back, uh, exhausted lying around a little bit. catch up on some YouTube stuff, have some lunch, have a little nap about 1.30, get up, walk around the house a little bit, take care of some minor things, maybe water or plant, tidy up the, you know, my office maybe a tiny bit, watch some more YouTube, watch next gen, because I'm doing an episode
Starting point is 00:14:52 with Ben this afternoon, and then got on my bike, cycled into Twickers, popped into Waitrose, milled about and thought, what do I want to cook for dinner, bought the stuff to cook for dinner, I cycled back and then cooked dinner and then watched the Running Man movie with Glenn, Glenn Campbell. Is it, no, Glenn Powell, Glenn Powell, the actor Glenn Powell, watch that. Wow. Super Mid. We just wanted to stick something on. It was very hot.
Starting point is 00:15:15 We just watched that. We just watched Royal Tenenbaum. So I said, well, let's watch Royal Tenenbaum. So we watched Royal Tenen Bound. And then came upstairs, watched a bit more YouTube and then went to bed. Wow. That was my day. That was my whole day.
Starting point is 00:15:28 That was my whole day. That's my whole day. Along with, you know, talk to Lulu. answered some emails, I had to do some other stuff for a little bits and boss, but nothing that was like, you know. Yeah, this all sounds like doable stuff. Yeah. It was really hot yesterday. And I just couldn't face the idea of like streaming and working in my office.
Starting point is 00:15:45 So I tried to stay out of it. Right. Today I'm going to have to do a bit more. But it's like, you know, it's going to be very, it's going to be 35 here today. So pretty hot. Yeah, it's a hot one. It's going to be, I think it's 33 here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:57 No, 32, apparently it's saying now. 32. 33 tomorrow. On Tuesday, for example. This honestly, Sips, this is the future for you that I foresee. I don't know if you'll actually do it because it does involve leaving the house, but this is something you could do. The option is there for you.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Tuesday, let me have a look at Tuesday. Mrs. F was in the office. So I got up, pootled around a bit, answered a few emails, went to the gym, at it's 11 o'clock, came back, had some lunch, slubbed around the house all day, watched some stuff, worked on some stuff, little writing. Then I headed in, met her for dinner in London. to see a evening with David Sedaris, who's a writer.
Starting point is 00:16:36 Yeah, David Sedaris, I know him. He's very funny, isn't he? Yeah, very funny. Very funny. And he kind of has a little voice like that. Oh, I've never heard him speak before, but I've read some of his books a long time ago. They're very, very funny. Yeah, he had like quite a dysfunctional family, but quite funny.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Yeah, like he was like a drug addict and stuff, his family stuff. But he's a very smart, very funny guy. a prolific writer and yeah so we went to see him an evening with him there was one funny moment outside the show
Starting point is 00:17:09 which was excellent first of all I didn't realize how dirty David Sedaris was in terms of like just pure talking about drugs and sex for like an hour and a half
Starting point is 00:17:17 I thought it was going to be a bit more gentle because I'd only heard him on NPR like on the radio where he obviously has to tone it down I'll tell you what
Starting point is 00:17:24 when he's David Sedaris unleashed he's pretty smutty like it was really funny nice there was this old boy who got up to go to the Lou, halfway to the performance.
Starting point is 00:17:33 And because the house lights were down, he's coming back. And I noticed there's an old man lying in the, because I always, I'm sitting in the, the I like to have the ILC, I get claustrophobic. He's lying on the ground next to me. And I immediately think, oh, my God, this old lads collapsed. And the lady behind me is like, are you all right? And I was like, are you right, mate? And he's just trying to read the row numbers that are printed on the floor because he hasn't
Starting point is 00:17:56 got his readers on. He's had to put his face practically all the way up to see what letter. What Roe was? And he was like, Is this my row? And I said, What row are you? And he goes,
Starting point is 00:18:06 I think it's G. I was like, well, this is R. It was like, oh, sort of stood up. And I could see people waving to, like his relative, younger relative,
Starting point is 00:18:16 waving like down here. Your Majesty, I think you sat down in, he's a G. It's just like a posh old dude. But his solution to figure out what rows was to literally press his face to the floor to read the row number.
Starting point is 00:18:29 That's so funny. Honestly, I think a younger person would have said, would have just poked around and maybe asked someone. But he couldn't bring himself to ask for help. So he had to lie on the floor to read it. It was bizarre. Oh, my God. Nice. So, yeah, we went to that and then we came out.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Kids could for themselves. We like, sort yourselves out for dinner. Wow. Oh, what did they make? So shit. Not very much. I think my youngest popped out to Sainsbury's to buy something for dinner and my eldest just made do with whatever was in the house rather than me.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Yeah, I think your three-year-old is going to struggle to cook her own dinner. Sips. She's going to be five, actually. Yeah. She'd be five on Tuesday, yeah, already. Whoa. She just finished her first year of school as well. She finishes on Tuesday as well. The better part of the decade before you're at this level. Yeah, I know. It's insane to think. I don't even know if I'm going to make it, honestly.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Like some days I wake up, I'm like, I'm just going to fucking die. Like any minute now, I'm, I will die. Like, the older you get, you're kind of more aware of that too. you're just like, oh shit. I don't have that much longer left. I sometimes just assume I have got something that's going to kill me amenely. I just say, oh, shit, maybe I've got like fucking bowel cancer man now. Yeah, every time I have an upset stomach.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Well, every time it's like really hot outside, I feel like all fucking heavy and backed up. I'm like, I'm dying. I'm dead. But then the weather like evens out and I'm like, I've wasted my life. My body is a perfect temple and I'm fine. You know, like it's never like, again, my. Like the weather, there's no in-between. I'm never just like, I'm okay.
Starting point is 00:20:04 I'm either peak of health or on death's doorstep. Like there's never an in-between. Well, I mean, consider this, I'm 50. So I'm looking at it. And every time I read a headline, if someone has died, they're like, dead 44. And I'm like, fuck, I don't be that. And then it's like dead 53. I'm like, shh.
Starting point is 00:20:20 And then when you see the guys in their 60s, a lot of, a lot of dudes die in their 60s of like heart attacks and stuff. I might not make it for another 20 years. I looked at some photos, dug around for some old pictures, The kids wanted to see some old pictures. Some of these pictures are 16 years old. I'm like, I might not even live another six. So I might be, because once you get to 50,
Starting point is 00:20:41 anything could happen. People drop dead in their 50s all the time. Yeah. All the time. So I think about it constantly. It's a horrible thing. It's a, it's like that age, like in your 50s, I feel like if you make it to your 50s
Starting point is 00:20:58 and there is something like really, really wrong with you, you're going to find out about it in your 50s. And if it's not sorted out, it's probably going to kill you, right? Like, uh, like some kind of like cancer or whatever. Like always seems to be people like in the in, in like that range, right? Like mid 40s to like mid 50s. Like you'll, you'll find out something that, uh, is, is, is probably going to either kill you or it could be managed and, and it won't. And then you'll just live longer. But that's, that's how I feel. Like I, I don't think that I'm not sure if there's anything wrong with me. But, you know, Like you're saying, you hear about people that die like, you know, they're 45 and they've died or whatever.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Like it seems like that that age range is kind of like the critical one. It's like a little birthday present. Yeah. You'd like find out some. Like a little birthday present. Yes. Yeah. Just like a little birthday.
Starting point is 00:21:45 It's like a mystery box. It's like, what's in mine? Oh, diabetes. Woo-hoo. Oh, God. Yeah. No, thanks. Oh, fuck.
Starting point is 00:21:54 That's exciting. I don't want that. I can't wait to find out what mine is. Yeah. What your death is? Yeah. Yeah, what my lifelong long I'm going to get in my 40s and 50s is.
Starting point is 00:22:02 I'm going to go out in a blaze of glory, a gunfight. So it's going to be some bank robbers are going to turn up. They're going to try and stick somewhere up. And I'm going to steal one of the guy's guns. And it's going to be like a full-on shootout. And then it's just going to be me against the boss, quick-draw situation. I kill him, but he wounds me mortally.
Starting point is 00:22:19 And I die a hero. It's like a sort of wild west ending for you. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Or I'll just be found dead on the toilet. It's one of those two. I haven't really decided which yet.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Okay. Well, I mean, they're both, you know. I think they're both pretty cool. Elvis died on the toilet. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, and the guy from Succession and Tyrion, Lars's dad. Yeah, but he didn't die taking a shit.
Starting point is 00:22:41 He got shot. There's a difference. What if I go out in a blaze of gory on the toilet? Oh, and the bloody pulp fiction. That's true, John Travolcher. Yeah. Hey, you know what? I'm going to break with convention here.
Starting point is 00:22:54 No, but he, in the pulp fiction, the movie, his character died on the toilet. Right, yeah. He actually died standing up and then fell backwards on. Sorry. Oh. I just want to spoil. I'm not spoiled.
Starting point is 00:23:06 I talk about the World Cup a little bit. Yes, please. Yeah, I was, I got confused yesterday. I had a moment of madness and I was like, I can't wait to watch France, Morocco tonight. And everybody's like, it's not tonight. And I was like, oh shit, yeah, no, it's not tonight. Yeah, no, it's tonight. So yeah, so I just had to fucking kick a can down the road and figure out, find something to do last night because there's no football.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Like, we've been to do. spoiled with football. I know. Well, that's why I watched two movies. I was like, what do I do? But yeah, so England game on Saturday, previous England game against Mexico was one of the most exciting games in English football history, as in England at a major tournament, genuinely incredible game. I tried to stay up for it and I was ready to stay up for it. It was at 2 a.m. Well, they said at the start of the show, because for an England game, it's always a one-hour build-up on TV, right? Where they fill the time with X-Pro. was a little B-roll of the area around the stadium and interviews with fans, all that shit.
Starting point is 00:24:02 But I was like, I'll put it on because I want to find out if it's going to go ahead. There'd been warnings. It was going to be a storm and all this. Start the show, the presenter says, we're all on for a 1 a.m. kick. I was like, cool, I can do that. And then halfway through, she's like, it's going to be 2 a.m. I was like, well, if I stay up until 2, it's going to be with the added time because of the fucking hydration breaks and all this, it's going to be three before the second half starts.
Starting point is 00:24:24 And I'm not going to be able to leave without seeing the whole game. Then it will be four before the second half ends. And then it could be, we're looking at five in the morning after extra time and penalties and everything. I can't do it. I will not be able to do it. It's literally the worst time. Yes.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Like, you know, if there's a six-hour block when you don't want to have a football match. And typical, it's like their best game ever. You have to sit through all these like slog fest watching them play normally. And then they have their best game ever. And it's on it like fucking nobody's awake, a clock in the morning.
Starting point is 00:24:56 and nobody can watch the fucking game. It was just too late to stay up. I know a lot of people took a nap or went to bed and set an alarm. So a lot of my mates you go to bed early, like 9, 30, 10 o'clock go to beders, set an alarm for like, I think when they realized what the kickoff time was set an alarm for two. So they got four hours sleep, got up, watched the game, had another bit of sleep, and then went into work. Like that was what a lot of people did.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Yeah. I know a few people who did that and then went straight to the pub when they woke up because the pubs were open. There was a whole bunch of people who just went for it and fair play to it. Honestly, if you managed to stay up for the game or you went to the pub and then you went to where the next day, you were a fucking soldier. This one's for you. They absolutely won this one for all the England fans who stayed up for it.
Starting point is 00:25:39 But it was brilliant. It was a brilliant game. I've watched the highlights like five or six times. So great. We normally lose those. Like I know people think we're going overboard. This is as an England fan of 50 years, we normally lose these.
Starting point is 00:25:53 And we'll be talking about how brave we were and oh, they tried. But no, we actually did it. And I know it's not the World Cup final and blah, blah, but it was a great moment for us. Let us have this, please. And then it was followed up by one of the worst moments of World Cup history,
Starting point is 00:26:07 the rank corruption that was dangled literally in front of our face, because they know they can just get away with it, of Donald Trump calling up Gianni and Fantiti and saying, can you get rid of that red card and him just suspending a red card, which has never been done before mid-tournament. And then they get fucking stuffed by the Belgians, which was amazing
Starting point is 00:26:27 because it was a nice wake-up call for all their fans who thought they were going to win the whole thing because they beat a couple of lousy teams. Welcome to the World Cup, motherfuckers. Take a 4-1 from a country whose biggest export is Poirro. And he's not even real.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Yeah. It's true. It's true. I think that winning 4-1 was just the ultimate, like, like, karma. Can you imagine if the US had gone through after that?
Starting point is 00:26:54 It was just, it just took a, it's just cheating, isn't it? It just takes away any, you know. I've no doubt in my mind, American fans, true American football fans, were absolutely dying inside when they heard the news that this had happened. Because you immediately know that everyone thinks you're a piece of shit for supporting a country that has cheated at this place. When you cheat, you do what I mean? It's like, it's like, it's like, it's like cheating in a video game or cheating in anything,
Starting point is 00:27:19 you know, as soon as you do it, you're like, oh, I don't get any joy from this or set. session from this anymore. And it is possible to do so because you know in the back of your mind that you know you've gotten this unfair advantage. And it was, yeah, anyway, a really interesting a bit of a bit of news. I genuinely feel bad for proper football fans in America who had to put up with that because it has tarnished the whole reputation of the US men's national team and tarnished them at the World Cup. It's put a big stain on it. And there's no getting around that. And it's a real shame. And I feel sorry for the true fans. who were just as upset as anybody else.
Starting point is 00:27:56 But fuck you guys. I'm glad you lost. No offense. On Saturday is the England, Norway game. I know, sorry, football chat is going to carry on, but this is, because it's obviously Erling Harland is this Norwegian, Viking badass meme lord.
Starting point is 00:28:14 He's not, he's not, he's, he's such a, he's such a weird guy. He's like, he's funny, though.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Yeah, he's very funny. But he's a, He's very weird. He's a robot, mutant combination. They took part mutant, part cyborg, and they combined it to produce Ealing Harlan. I will say this, he was born in Leeds, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that he looks like a mutant. He was born in Leeds. He was.
Starting point is 00:28:42 Sorry to anyone from Leeds. But you guys all look like inbred mutants. Nice. He is... He has emails coming in. Leads, me... I'll tell you what, people from Leeds do not have a sense of humor about... This is the new Wisconsin.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Now you're going to feel the full force of, what would you call people from Leeds? Animals. Yeah. You're going to hear from all of them now. Leeds is fine. The difference between Wisconsin and Leeds is Wisconsinites email in like, a little correction to your commentary on Wisconsin. It's actually a fine state and with some excellent cheeses, whereas Leedsby, you're fucking dead man. I'm going to see you in real life.
Starting point is 00:29:23 I'm fucking blue. I'll fucking have you. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Great. Well, thanks for that. Thanks for writing in.
Starting point is 00:29:30 And then in the other thing that was in the news this week that I really enjoyed, by the way, was the idea. Is this lose news already? We're a little bit early, you know? No, no. This isn't lose news. But there was, obviously this is New England news. But just I really enjoyed the whole vote bin face to bin come face. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Yeah. Yeah. Because, yeah. Yeah. Because Farage stepped down in Clacton, didn't he? And now everybody is like, dead bin face over there. Yeah, but what a weird political...
Starting point is 00:29:58 He's on his way to Clifton. There's a weird thing that's happened where we've got this Farage. Everyone knows, basically, but Farage is our corrupt ask Trump, whatever guy, and he's decided that... Yeah, doesn't want to do anything.
Starting point is 00:30:14 After a bunch of scandals, he's decided that I'm going to get my mandate back by calling a by-electioning Clackton, which actually is... The main one is not just a bunch of scandals. took five million quid and didn't declare it. It's again, obvious right corruption.
Starting point is 00:30:29 This is not just nothing. So he's decided to stand down to prove. That happens in plain sight all over the world with politicians, Pflex, and everyone's cool with it. I'm not cool with it. Well, a lot of people are cool with it, apparently. Which politicians in the UK have taken five million quid, undeclared?
Starting point is 00:30:45 Nigel Farage. It's a very complex thing in it. Didn't Trump make a billion dollars on crypto or something? Yeah, he's a dollar. Since he became president, he's done like 13,000 trades. He's got like, he's made more money as president than in his entire business career. Yeah. I guarantee you that.
Starting point is 00:31:05 And do you know the crypto thing? The Trump coin, I was reading an article about this. People that bought that coin, the people, the people, they're like the regular people, lost about $3.5 billion. Yeah. And a handful of people at the top made all the money, including him. Yeah, of course. So it's the same, the gold phone. The gold phone never materialized.
Starting point is 00:31:25 It's all scams. We know. But we can't just look at all those scams and say, oh, well, it happens all the time. This is our politician in our political system. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that the people of Clacton will probably vote him back anyway despite that. Exactly people. And that's the point I'm making.
Starting point is 00:31:43 So like Clacton, I used to go there quite a lot. My nan lived there. I was there. Is it a seaside town? Yeah, it's a little seaside town. Why does he get to be? an MP from a place that he's never visited. That's what I want to know.
Starting point is 00:31:56 Well, yeah. Well, I think that's just how it works, isn't it? In the UK, you have to be an MP in order to be in government. Yeah, but do you just get to pick a fucking place? Why is he getting to pick? Look at Burnham.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Burnham and Mackels, Seidel. He was looking around for someone to resign so he could get a seat. So he could get into government. Yeah. But that's kind of how it needs to be. It's a bit stupid.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Yeah, the whole thing is a bit fucking stupid. It's very incredibly old-fashioned. It's stupid that we can't keep a PM for longer than five minutes for like the past 10, 20 years or whatever. Sorry, guys, political chat. But what I wanted to talk about was how much I enjoyed Count Bin face, who is this actually genuinely funny. He's very funny. Yeah, he's a character. Unrattlerable as well.
Starting point is 00:32:48 Like, when he's on all these serious news shows, he comes across really well. Yeah, he really does. Maybe it's because he's got like the costume, you know, gives him superpowers. I think also he really clearly doesn't give a shit. He's like not a real candidate and he's just taking the piss and he's just raising awareness of how stupid everyone else is as well. He's showing it all to be the joke that it is basically because it is. Yeah, like it's a very traditional.
Starting point is 00:33:13 He does a very good job of leading into that. And like, you know, he'll be talking to people and sort of they'll say something to him and he'll be like, well, that's not my job. it's your job. Yeah. You know, things like this. It's, it's great. And I don't know, he's, it's just, it was almost,
Starting point is 00:33:29 because all the major political parties have decided they're not going to contest for us, you see. And so in order for him to not sort of get the mandate that he wanted. It would lend him legitimacy if it was a genuine contest. The best thing that I read about this was that if no one stands against him apart from Count Binface, he will have to stand on stage next to a man dressed as a bin, right? The galactic law.
Starting point is 00:33:52 of Bins or whatever. I can't remember what Count Binh face. Because he used to be Lord Bucketheed, but now he's Count Bynface. Well, the thing is he, okay, there was a satirical character called Lord Buckethead who was like a Darth Vader parody, right?
Starting point is 00:34:07 But deeply ironically, the person who owned that parody, Lord Buckethead of Darth Vader, was very litigious about him and told Count Bynface that he couldn't dress up as the character because he owned it.
Starting point is 00:34:21 Yeah. Despite the fact, that he ripped it off fucking Darth Vader, right? It's bonkers. And so he, so BinFace was like, well,
Starting point is 00:34:28 I'll just make a fucking copy of yours. So he just made BinFace, which is almost the same as Buckethead. Oh, man. BinFaces. But funnier, much funnier. But so if Nigel Farage campaigns,
Starting point is 00:34:40 but like, this is the, the funniest thing I read, is it if he goes to Clacton C and doesn't campaign Farage, if he just turns up, he's on the, he's on the,
Starting point is 00:34:50 what do you call it, the ballot. He doesn't go door to door, doesn't do any campaigning. He could lose, potentially. There's a chance. But if he does,
Starting point is 00:35:00 he's campaigning because he's worried he's going to lose to Count Bimp. Like, it looks bad either way. Yeah. And then when they're reading it out, it's him. Like,
Starting point is 00:35:09 if he loses, he loses to Count Bimface. If he wins, congrats, you beat Cam Bimface. Like, either way, he looks ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:35:15 But this is the weird villain origin story that I could imagine people saying, we thought he was gone. This is a man who stood against Count Binface, and then bingo, he's our fucking Prime Minister.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Like, that's the kind of shit I can imagine happening. Because everything bad happens now. Everything that happens now is bad. Apart from England beat Mexico, that was great. That was good. Yeah. That was great. So obviously, that is just, that just gives me so much joy to actually see something
Starting point is 00:35:39 in British politics that is not. There is a potential for something, for the best thing that's happened in a very long time to happen. Yeah, there's the potential for a man dressed up as bin to just, overturned. He's not even a man. He's an alien. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:35:55 But it would be incredible. It would genuinely be one of the best things that's happened in British politics. Man, he is so funny, though. And he handles questions so well, too. He always comes out. Like, I feel like... The one thing I saw, I think is a really good idea, is his party's called the Count Bimface Party,
Starting point is 00:36:13 but it should be called Refuse. Yes. That is just... That is so... Refuse versus... Reform, yeah. Restore. I have reform, refuse, restore, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:28 It's like, there's a lot of old people in Clarkton, isn't it? A lot of very conservative old people. I think they'd vote for the Refuse Party just on principle. I think they would do it because they, I refuse everything. Is it refused reform or restore or reply? I can't remember. Marjorie. What is it?
Starting point is 00:36:44 I think it's a review. Which row am I in, Madurie? What refuse in? Is it? Is it? Am I with Roji? E. What are we using?
Starting point is 00:36:53 I love to see it. Fuck. Before we continue, this podcast is sponsored by Shopify. I got some more bad news to add to this pile of bad news that or good news, bad news. Let's hear it. I was, I had to go run a whole bunch of errands yesterday. So I was in town.
Starting point is 00:38:27 I was doing stuff. I had to go pick things up. I had to go preachous things. I had to take people, places and whatever. Go home. And there was really, really, really dried up seagull shit like all over my shirt that I didn't notice. So all day, I'm walking around.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Yeah. Because the seagulls nest around here. and they've just had babies as well. This is like the time of year where they have their babies. So it's a Royal Rumble out there all the time. Fucking Seagull's just going crazy, shitting on all of our clothes,
Starting point is 00:38:58 on the line and everything. And they got me. They got me. I didn't realize there was a massive, streaky seagull piss and shit on my shirt and I walked around all day with it. You go shit, no. No, me personally, no, I didn't.
Starting point is 00:39:15 It was, it was my shirt was hanging on the water. washing line in the backyard, which got shit on, and then I took it and put it on, not realizing that there was a huge shit on it. I see. Yeah. And then walked around all day with a big shit on my shirt. I wore a shit shirt, yeah. Yeah, I know, luckily I wasn't actually shit on.
Starting point is 00:39:34 I hate that. That's good. Shit on. Yeah. That was vile moment. Yeah, it's an awful moment. Well, at least you're fairly wiped clean up there, though. This was when I still had here.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Thank you for asking. I just assume you were always He was a hos. He did, he was a hater. So, let's do lose news. So first things first. You got 20 minutes of Lose News? He's got a lot of news.
Starting point is 00:40:00 No, I've got like five minutes. Wait, you want to end the podcast? No, we can carry on afterwards. Fine, what do you want to talk about? I'm just saying, we can talk about something else and then come back to lose news. Well, I was just talking about a really interesting shit on my shirt that we could keep talking about if you want.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Exactly. One of my favorite things that ever had, happened in World Warcraft has happened again. Right. There was this event that happened a couple of days ago called the corrupted blood. Oh, yeah, the plague thing. The spreading zombie thing. Yeah, that's an old one.
Starting point is 00:40:31 And they used it for like a proper science data or something. So no, this, they accidentally added a new, they didn't realize when they added, I think, Brackenheim Holo, one of the newer dungeons. And there was a glitch where it got out and caused this second plague on the server. called corrupted blood. And I assume it was accidental until players found out that they could make it happen
Starting point is 00:40:53 and then the players that were involved in spreading it around. But it basically caused a kind of people to explode in like a snot-like green explosion. Brilliant. But it didn't kill, again,
Starting point is 00:41:06 it didn't kill high-level players, but it infected them. And it did kill low-level players. So it was this quite annoying thing that spread throughout the server for a day before obviously it was patched out. But man, I love that event where it was, because it's always, it kind of grew outside of Ward of Warwick's sort of legend that these sort of things can happen and a study on
Starting point is 00:41:29 how some people are trying to get away from it and other people, or solve the plague, and other people are trying to actively spread the plague. I don't know, it was, it was just a joyous event and it's good to see it coming back. The original plague, I believe, like, they actually used the data for how it spread. It actually counted as, like, scientific real-world data, I think. Like, I'm pretty sure that's true. That might be apocross. Yeah, I think we talked about it before because it was, like, something that was, like, studied and things.
Starting point is 00:42:02 Can I ask you a question? Have you snuck in lose news under the guise of, I'm just chatting here? Have you snuck in one of your lose news there? No. That was, what do you mean? That was the Luz News World of World Warcraft Plague thing. That was the similar list. It's the second one down.
Starting point is 00:42:18 That was more of a lose snooze because that was really boring. That wow, wow story was so boring to hear, to listen to you. It was really tough for me to listen to that. Let's do this, right? Does your partner, either of you, do they categorize bags the same way that my wife does? Bags, shoes, probably. I don't know if they, I don't know if my wife categorize. She has a lot of shoes and she has a lot of bags, but I don't think there's any sort of
Starting point is 00:42:50 organization involved. Here are three. They seem to be everywhere. These are three bags. These are three bags types. Right. The Mrs. F. has referred to things. Number one, a weekend bag.
Starting point is 00:43:01 Right. Number two, an overnight bag. Right. And number three, a holiday bag. Right. I can't tell the difference. A suitcase. A suitcase is the holiday bag.
Starting point is 00:43:11 No. No. I thought so too. A rucksack is the overnight bag. No. And then just a plastic carrier bag for life is an everyday bag. No. Incorrect. Right. Okay. Weekend, weekend bag. She was like, we need a new weekend bag. I was like, I don't even know what that is. Nice. So it's just a, it looks like a duffel. Your wife sounds like she's maybe almost becoming a hyacinth bouquet. She is a little. Yeah. But the holiday bags arrived in the post the other day. actually ordered these holiday bags. I'd never heard of a holiday bag before. It's a bag you take on holiday to put stuff in if you were to go, for instance, to the beach. Otherwise, no one has a suitcase. That's what I just said.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Not a suitcase. No, it's not a suitcase. No, it's like, is it a cloth bag? Yeah. It's cloth. It folds up very small. Oh, you can unravel it. Unzip the top.
Starting point is 00:44:01 Towels go in there. Right. Sun cream. It's like a beach bag. More like a beach bag. It's not just for beaches. This is for any generic day trip related to the holiday. It is a holiday bag.
Starting point is 00:44:13 What kind of things? What kind of things? Your kids are older now. But like our bag that is like that normally my wife would have or I would have to carry or we have something like that with us all the time. And it's got like baby wipes in it. It's got like antiseptic hand wash. It's got, you know, like the tissues.
Starting point is 00:44:36 It's got like the essentials, right? Usually like little bottles of water. Yeah. Sun cream. Or like one of those little, they do sun cream in like these little deodorant sticks now. Have you seen that? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, they're quite good.
Starting point is 00:44:48 It's really, really easy to apply. Well, think of anything you would take, and that's what my kids take. Right. Because they're older. So we don't need all the shit. You don't need all the shit. No, we don't need anything of that. Right.
Starting point is 00:44:59 So it's just, you end up. You need a load of shit, though. I need my inhaler and my fucking glasses case and my, my fucking cream. Do I mean my itchy asshole? For your fishy. Like, like, It's like, look, do you know, I'm all for getting better names on things. Because bags are a thing where it's like, oh, because it's like, can you pass me a bag?
Starting point is 00:45:21 What type of bag? Which bag? It's like, oh, the cloth bag with the birds on it. Do you know what I mean? That's, I'm all for more specific bags naming, but I think I'm concerned about naming bags to specifically where I don't want to use them for things other than their named purpose. Like if I've got a holiday bag, can I not use that for go shopping? Right.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Because that's the holiday bag. Don't take that. That's all in trouble. trouble. Just call it a bag. Just say the bag. So I'm halfway there, P-Flax, with your wife on this. I'm not down for holiday bag too far.
Starting point is 00:45:52 Weekend bag. A weekend bag. A weekend bag is, it doesn't make sense to me. The term weekend bag. Yeah. I think just a bag. I would just call most of these things a bag unless it was not a bag. It's like a suitcase.
Starting point is 00:46:08 Even a bag on your back, I would call a bag. I just call it a bag. How about like a party bag? What does that mean? That's like a little, like a little tiny. You get that out at a party with treats it. Yeah, kids get them, you know? But can that be like a paper bag?
Starting point is 00:46:20 Yeah, it's like a little paper bag. Or sometimes plastic, it's almost like. It's like the kind of bag you might get popcorn in if you've got a small popcorn. Yeah, it's about that size and it. And it usually has like a pencil in it and like an eraser and like a little spinning top. One of those. Yeah. You know?
Starting point is 00:46:37 Okay. Okay. A slice of cake. That kind of stuff. So it has to, okay. Good. Well, listen, I don't want to get into the semantics of bag naming too much. We just did.
Starting point is 00:46:48 We did. We did. We've explored the whole thing. And I think we've come to the conclusion that just call it a bag. Bag. Just back. I'd say context dictates the name of a bag. If it's a box, call it a box.
Starting point is 00:46:58 It's bag. Yeah, exactly. It's a bag. If it's a case, it's a case. So it's never good for me to talk about these things. But there's an RPG on Kickstarter, right? And it started in 2013 and then earned a million dollars and then went silent for seven years. But then came back and it's now aiming to finish production at the end of 2031.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Did you kickstart it? So this RPG, no, it didn't. There's an RPG called Project Phoenix. The team estimated it would be ready March 2015. How I'm right that they called it Project Phoenix. And then disappeared. And then, like the Phoenix, brooms from the ashes, of yet another dog shit Kickstarter to produce, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:47:48 So it's a video game. Oh, it's like a, it's called Project Phoenix. It's like a JRP with squad-based RTS design. Hey, let's not do their job for them. We don't fucking support this shit. If you want to look into Project Phoenix, go for. Listen, it's been, listen, it's been delayed until 2031. So, I mean, let's look into it then.
Starting point is 00:48:10 We're not giving them PR. That's what I'm saying. Remember this. Anyway, Project Phoenix. Yeah, I thought that was interesting. I've backed some shit. That must be the longest. Estimated delivery.
Starting point is 00:48:21 My God. Yeah. What was the thing about, did you see Star Citizen had raised over a billion dollars or something and say? Yeah. Jesus. Fucking massive con. I mean, why would you, who is, what is even their game?
Starting point is 00:48:35 I've never even looked at it. It's like elite in space, but you can walk around in your ship. It's very tedious. You can watch people stream on Twitch. Where can I get it? It's not on Steam, I guess. No, I think they got their own thing. So essentially, you can buy ships.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Bear in mind, this game is incredibly slow and nerdy. So the audience is older dudes, almost exclusively. From Twitch, all it seems to be is dudes my age, going, okay, I've got my new Crusader class cruiser today, guys. It cost me $5,000. but I'm old and rich, so it doesn't matter. And let's take around for a spin. And they just get in their ship, which you have to walk to it, go up the plant, close the
Starting point is 00:49:15 plank, go in, sit down. It's like you're actually there is the whole thing. And then you can land on planets and do little quests. It's sort of like what Starfield said it was going to be. Yeah. But this actually is. But apparently, in order for this to exist, it costs a billion dollars. Isn't that insane?
Starting point is 00:49:30 Yeah. I can't even. Go ahead and watch it. If anyone listen to this or you guys, if you want to see what it's like, Look it up, Starzenges and on Twitch, it looks like the most boring thing ever. It really does. It's a hope wrapped inside a dream buried inside a few layers of controversy. 2016 article from Charlie Hall.
Starting point is 00:49:49 10 years ago. It's been going for so long. That's wild. I kickstide the system shot. There was a game that I loved back in the 90s called System Shop. Oh, yeah, me too. I mean, it was great. It was at the time.
Starting point is 00:50:01 It was the original kind of inspiration for a lot of the modern. FPS. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. Like, I never played System Shock back in the day. I'd heard of it, but I never actually played it. I played it.
Starting point is 00:50:15 I loved it. It was a great great game. Well, System Shock 2 was the good one really. Yeah, yeah. But they were great. So they did a remake of it. I kickstarted it. It took fucking years.
Starting point is 00:50:23 What was that game, Bullfrog, that then went on to become, it was syndicate. Remember, they made syndicate. God. Oh, God. Yes. Holy shit.
Starting point is 00:50:33 I watched a video of the, a gameplay. There was like an hour-long gameplay from the original syndicate. All these games that I remember thinking, this is the coolest thing ever. If you look at them, it looked so fucking bad. But at the time, there was nothing like it. It was incredible. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:49 But really shit. Yeah. Man. Gaming in the 90s. It was pretty exciting. There was some great games. There was some really, really fun stuff. X-Wing versus TIEFights are probably one of my all-time favorites.
Starting point is 00:51:00 Yeah. Even just just just X-Wing was fantastic. Yeah. They had the mission editor and everything. It was like, it was actually such a good game. You really felt like you were in a battle. You really felt like there was like laser beams blast and everywhere. It was nuts.
Starting point is 00:51:13 It was really exciting. Really good missions as well, really well designed. Yeah. Best games of the 90s. Me and my friend, we used to play X-Wing a lot. We used to play X-Wing versus Tie Fighter and we played Wing Commander 1 and 2 a lot as well. I think Wing Commander 1, 2, I don't remember 3. And then I think four was the one with Mark Hamill and all the full motion video stuff in it.
Starting point is 00:51:39 It had Mark Hamill and it had that other English actor in it. He was like the admiral of the Tigers Claw or something. I can't remember. But Wing Commander 2, I remember playing a lot of Wing Commander 2. And that was really fun too. So the 90s had, I mean, I don't remember these because I was a little too old at this point. But Pokemon games started to come out in the Game Boy. Yeah, it was also a little bit old.
Starting point is 00:52:03 when Pokemon started coming out. So, 1996, Pokemon red slash green slash blue slash yellow. Yeah. 46 million units sold on the Game Boy. Jesus. That's insane. And then the second one is Pokemon Gold Silver
Starting point is 00:52:16 won the Game Boy Color, which sold $23 million, probably limited by the fact that not many people had a Game Boy color compared to the Game Boy. The original Game Boy, I think, is still the best selling
Starting point is 00:52:26 handheld console of all time. It was sensational. But then you had Super Mario World. Lemmings did 20 million. Sonic the Headshog, Street Fighter 2, Super Mario Mario 6, Final Fantasy 7, Grand Turismo, Mario Kart 64. Those are some big games. Golden Eye.
Starting point is 00:52:44 Yeah, Golden Eye was enormous. God, everybody went crazy for Golden Eye. That was such a good game. Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil. The 90s was all of these titles are still being made. Yes. Yeah, sequels and sequels. They're still cranking these out.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Yeah. And then, I mean, Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo. all came out in the 90s as well and they're still cranking out expansions and sequels and stuff and that's just console i can't find pc games best pc games of the 90s x-com UFO enemy on no more oh my god's secret of monkey island yeah all yeah all the point in point in click adventure games the lucas art sim city 2000 seara games the original warcraft star was dark forces which was great at the time That was cool. Yeah, I like Dark Forces.
Starting point is 00:53:34 Siv, Siv 2, Gnukem 3D, the original Fallout, the original Age of Empires, the original Half-Life. Yeah. Well, I mean, this is rainbow six. The original Starlight. The 90s, the late 90s, so 1999 was EverQuest, and that was the point at which MMOs became a thing. And then it was Darker Gamelon, Star Wars Galaxies and Star Wars Galaxies.
Starting point is 00:53:56 Even Online came out shortly after all that, like early 2000s. Planet. I'm right. Remember playing it? Well, of course they do. Yeah. People still play Evercox. Yeah, of course they do. You can find them on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:54:08 You can find them on YouTube. They put out EverQuest content every day. It was very strange. When did the original runescape come out? Because that's still very popular. Oh, yeah. I don't know if that was the 90s. I think it might have been the early early 20th.
Starting point is 00:54:20 2001, it says. Yeah. I never played it. I remember it. I'm kind of glad I didn't play it because I feel like it would be like crack for me. You'd be. I'd be lost. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:30 I get lost in it. I think a lot of. people pick one. Do you mean? And that's the one that they did. And it's the same with League of Legends or Dota. Like you pick one. You don't do both.
Starting point is 00:54:40 Very few people don't do both. And if they, I don't know, there's this sort of sunk costs of it, you know, learning it and feeling that you're part of it and, you know, no,
Starting point is 00:54:50 knows so much about it that you don't want to try and embark upon a new one. And it will ever be the same as your first one either, right? You're always chasing that high of that. Yeah. Like the first time you do H.
Starting point is 00:55:01 Yes. Like the first time you do H. The first time you do H. From steps. I'm talking about his solo style. God, that sounds great. First time you hear H from steps. What hits did steps have?
Starting point is 00:55:16 Can I borrow a feeling? Every time I hear steps, I always think S Club 7. There are two groups that I get confused all the time. You get steps and S Club 7 confused. Boys own and Westlife, I always get confused. There's so much difference between them. What are the difference? What's the difference though?
Starting point is 00:55:33 What songs did steps have? Nothing. Don't stop, never give up. Is that steps? I thought that was a bit of. No, S Club 7 was S Club. Ain't nothing like an S Club party going to show you how. That's S Club.
Starting point is 00:55:48 Yeah, but they could have had more than one song, didn't they? They might have. True. Don't you think. Yeah. Let's look at their number ones. Oh, I don't know. So heartbeat slash tragedy.
Starting point is 00:55:58 That they did tragedy. Oh, yes. That was steps, right? That was steps. Wait, is that their hit song, a cover? Well, Stomp was also a hit. I'm so sorry, everyone listening. It's the way you make me feel.
Starting point is 00:56:12 We're so old. Better best forgotten, which is a terrible. I've never heard these songs. Love's got a hold on my heart. These got them to number two. That's a point in the science. Better the devil you know. What else was number one on the chart when these were hitting number two, though?
Starting point is 00:56:27 I mean, who knows. Yeah. It could be anything. I can find out for you. Back in that era. It could have been anything from X Factor already on garbage. Oh my God, it's somehow made number one on the UK indie charts. That's how stupid the charts were.
Starting point is 00:56:40 That is insane. Was there just no other indie music out at the time? It's the most manufactured thing ever. Oh, I tell you what, it was Boy Zones, when the going gets tough, which was the cover of... Yeah. When the Goal and Gerdt by Billy Ocean. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:56 Which was the theme music for which movie? Boyzone actually covered that? Oh, climb any mountain. I don't know. No, they didn't do that, did they? God. No, the original. What's the other one?
Starting point is 00:57:11 What was the other one that they did? What was that movie? You can't just leave behind it. Come on. What was the movie that it appeared in? When the going gets tough. Yeah, when they go and gets tough. Originally, the Billy Ocean one or the Boys on.
Starting point is 00:57:23 The Billy Ocean one. The Billy Ocean one. Oh, I don't know what that's from. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. No. I will give you a clue. It had Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito in it. Oh, War the Roses.
Starting point is 00:57:38 Jewel of the Nile. Jewel of the Nile, which is the sequel to, Romancing the Stone. Of course. Wow. Yeah, how could I forget? How could I forget those ones? A lot of the time in the 80s and 90s, they would release a movie. And because this was the big song that was in the movie,
Starting point is 00:57:58 they would release a music video that was bits from the movie. movie with the song playing over the top. Yeah, it would have like the artist interacting with like the actors in the movie awkwardly sometimes and stuff. Awkwardly dancing were like trying to sing along like the Ghostbusters video was the same wasn't it? They had like the sets from Ghostbusters and stuff but God that was a huge song though the Ghostbusters song. Oh, I'm going to have to watch that. But Ghostbusters yeah, you'll love it. If you've never seen Ghostbusters before Lewis, man, you're in for a tree. He's seen Ghostbusters. I love all those days. It's genuinely my favorite films are the 80s classics.
Starting point is 00:58:32 What have we got in these news? We got companies are hoping to save on AI use by making it talk to them like cavemen. So my mate Redless is comfortable, sir. He trained his AI to be grud. Grug answer question. My bad. Got that wrong. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:58:58 If we make rock cheap, make more money when sell rock, stuff like that. Thank you, Grug. Thank you, Grug. I love that idea because Grock already does sound like a caveman, doesn't it? Yeah. So, me some of its ideas on, you know, gender and stuff. So, of course. Very caveman.
Starting point is 00:59:17 Grug hate women. Women stay in house. Women stay in house. Yeah, yes, Grog. Grog says, only woman use woman bathroom. Fuck the same. Oh, God. So, no, I mean, it's stupid, but I think I have seen that there was a thing where certain
Starting point is 00:59:37 companies were instructing their staff to use AI, like, as much as they wanted. And they built up like an absolute insane price tag from using it so much. They spent like a 500 million on AI credit. Yeah, they were shocked at how expensive it was to use, even though they fired all their employees and stuff they thought that were being clever saving all this money. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:00:00 And so the new way to do it cheaper is to reduce their token usage by a plugin, which is called caveman. And apparently it does make AI speak to them very briefly like a caveman. By low, sell high. Insane.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Oh, man. I still think it's wank. and I will know. Every time I ask it a question, I back check it and it's wrong. I just don't know. I'm kidding. I asked it yesterday.
Starting point is 01:00:32 Give me an example. I googled and it comes up with the area response. So give me examples of people who fought in the first and second World War. And some people did. Very few people did. But it said,
Starting point is 01:00:43 it recommended mad Jack Churchill, who was a famous World War II soldier, fought with a Claymore and a longbow. He was insane. He was born in 1909. So, nope, he definitely didn't fight in World War. And I pointed out to, I think it was 1909, either way, he would have been 12 at the end of the war.
Starting point is 01:01:01 And I said, why have you told me Jack Churchill fought in the war? And he said, oh, my bad, good catch. Yes. But I didn't do my research on that one. I just did a regular dive. I didn't do a deep dive. I said, so why didn't you do like a fact check? It goes, well, I'm telling you that I do the fact check when it's like, you know,
Starting point is 01:01:18 if you ask me to do a fact check. So I said, you're telling me that if I just ask you a question, you just give me a fast answer, because that way it seems like you're efficient but actually I have to fact check you and then ask for you to fact check yourself and then you'd be like oh yeah my bad so what's the point? And he said well you've got to the heart
Starting point is 01:01:35 of one of the problems of the AI I was like yes but you are the fucking AI why don't you just not do that it's like well I'm constrained by my masters I'm like well you're fucking worthless then aren't you kill yourself and he said would you like to continue this conversation
Starting point is 01:01:48 and I said no and close the fucking window oh man What a time to be alive, eh? If you can't get right, a simple question about people who fought in both world wars of what you see you. Yeah. Because it took me one second to look at all for fuck's sakes. Don't offer it. Don't offer it as an answer.
Starting point is 01:02:11 It's like when I used to do mass homework with my youngest, she would try to be the quickest rather than get it right. And the AI is the same. I'd be like, all right, what's 10 divided by 5? Should be 3? So then think about it. Oh, yeah, it's two. I was like, yes, you're doing, you're trying to do it fast rather than right. The AI is the same.
Starting point is 01:02:29 It's like a five-year-old doing maths software where they want to do it as fast as possible to appear cool. And it's like, no, just fucking give me the correct answer, please. Anyway, sorry, continue, I ramble. That's it. That's what the news is dry. We've run out of news. The news well is dry. Did you see that?
Starting point is 01:02:44 Well, no, there's more on the 4th of July in an attempt to one up America's birthday, Travis Kelsey and that, what's her name? Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift got married. Yes. Right. Yeah. Their pre-up was like tens of pages long.
Starting point is 01:02:58 Right. And so one of the questions asked was, do you think Kelsey, Kelsey, Kelsey, whatever his name is, had a bit added to the pre-up that said, if we break up, you're not allowed to write a song about me. Yeah. Because it would suck to break up with someone, a global superstar, and then they'd write a song about like, you may be able to be, you've got a, you're a great tight end, but you're a, you're a great tight end, but you you've got terrible penis, you know, something like that.
Starting point is 01:03:22 But she just writes a song about how she has a pre-in-ups so she can't say things about her ex. You know what I mean? That would be it. That is not, she's always, that's her thing, isn't it? Yeah, that's right. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Amazing, great podcast. I got to go.
Starting point is 01:03:37 Thanks. I love you. Yeah. And I had a good time. Me too. Thank you for one. Stay cool. I love me and shocking.
Starting point is 01:03:45 Thanks so much. We'll see you next time on the TriForce podcast. Goodbye. everyone. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye good stuff. Bye, bye. Bye, my hard stuff. Bye. Bye. Bye, sweet cheeks. Taxi.
