Starting point is 00:00:00 The ZM Podcast Network. Play ZM's Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley. Hello, welcome to the Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley podcast. It's thanks to McCafe. Try barista made iced coffees available now at your local McCafe. Now this time of the year is a great time to do something that I like doing year round. But it's a great time of the year for it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Dancing around the public holidays, the stat holidays all around the world. Going to the dump. year round but it's a great time of the year for it dancing around the public holidays the stat holidays all around the world going to the dump going to the dump here's why you do your
Starting point is 00:00:35 bits and pieces outdoors you're getting some jobs done you take some stuff to the dump then you treat yourself to a trip
Starting point is 00:00:40 to the dump shop yeah good fun in there because at this time of the year a lot of people are out of the big cities, but they may have done a dump drop before they left because they might be cleaning out like you're cleaning out and it's post-Christmas. So they might have got a new something when the old something wasn't too bad and they
Starting point is 00:00:55 can't be bothered selling it because they want it gone so they take it to the dump. Now dump shops are some great finds at dump shops. And some shit. Some real shit. I've been going to the dump a lot of the time this year. Maybe I'll go like a couple of times a month just on the drive home. I'll just call into the concourse in West Auckland. Yeah, Aaron goes all the time.
Starting point is 00:01:14 And it's great. Like I found a near new Weber barbecue in there once. And I played up this. Why would someone throw that away? Because charcoal barbecue's hard. It's not like a gas one that you just click, click. And then in five minutes it's ready to go. There's a bit more to it.
Starting point is 00:01:26 Yeah. But then I guess they couldn't be bothered selling it, so they took it in there and I was like, how much for this piece of shit? $20. $20 and brand new they're like $500. $20. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Great stuff. I mean, but this year when I've been going, there's been a lot of shit that has been there at the start of the year and was still there last time I went. Yes. Oh, really? Do you know what I love is they've always got a big box of small balls that you, like bouncy balls, that we'd use at like an arcade or something.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Oh, yeah. I don't know why. They must have had like a shipment of them or something and they had too many. And there was like hundreds of boxes of these balls. Yeah. And then me and Aaron bought some because we felt really bad for the balls that would never be used. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:09 And they're just sitting there. Do you think they were all left over after they filmed that Sony ad? Do you remember that ad where they put a thousand bouncy balls down the road? Yes. To that song? Probably from there. What was that? I was going to pull the song up.
Starting point is 00:02:20 What was that song called? Heartbeats. Heartbeats. Jose Gonzalez. Well, we've got some of those balls, I reckon. Here we go. You ready? Yep.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Oh, yes. Was it this song? Yeah. Yeah. And they were bouncing down the road. Boing, boing, boing. Whatever happened to the balls? I hope they're not.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Probably at a dump. They're at my, well, they're now sitting at my garage, which is another word for a dump. This was on an ad at the same time. This has been on like every TV show. If you look up this song, it would have been on like 50 TV shows, guaranteed. Yeah, it is. That's a beautiful song. Yeah, it was.
Starting point is 00:02:56 It was the Bouncy Balls video. Yeah. Well, they're all at the dump, these balls. Yeah, they are. Holy shit. Tell me what year that came out. 2011, 12. 13.
Starting point is 00:03:09 2006. Oh, I hate myself. I'm too old. Yuck. Was it that long ago? Yeah. Jesus. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Well, that's the first, the oldest one I can find uploaded to YouTube. Wow. So around that time. It was in 2006. Oh. Oh, first hit our screens in 2005 It gets worse It gets worse
Starting point is 00:03:29 You're older than you thought Oh we're 15 In 2005 Well you've got the stars of this ad in your In your garage I do In a small box I do I really do
Starting point is 00:03:39 In a small box But that's all I've bought from the dump shop But every time I do have a looky Yeah I love a looky Does every dump have a shop, or just your local dump? No, most big dumps have a shop. I think there's another dump just down the road in West Auckland,
Starting point is 00:03:52 the Rosebank dump. It doesn't have a shop, but I feel like it sends its stuff to the Concourse shop. Yeah. Because they're all a big team. Or you can just take stuff if you see it. Team dump. Huh? If you see it in the hole, can you just take it? Oh, don't get in the hole. Not allowed in the hole. No, don't get in the hole. Don't go in the hole. You don't know what's in that hole. It's different days. Like when I used to go to the dump in Wainuiomata in the hut in Wellington,
Starting point is 00:04:12 it used to just be like a big flat ground with piles and you'd just get out and chuck it. But now they've got allocated like, what are you throwing? What are you, is it metal? Is it this? Is it green? Is it whatever? And then you go down different little avenues. Which is the avenue for definitely not asbestos in these plastic bags green green okay in between leaves green waste lovely speaking of the wainui mata dump when we went to the first time i ever had a nav man in a car we're in wellington for a friend's wedding and my parents were like have you ever been to wainui mata i was like no and i don't hear good things they're like it's an amazing little place, we'll go for a look.
Starting point is 00:04:45 So we put in Wainuiomata town centre, it took us to the dump. Yeah. Is that what Wainuiomata is? A dump? Look, I say this with such respect, but growing up, Wainuiomata was, there was just nothing to do there, and it was over this hill. Yeah. There's only one road in, one road out.
Starting point is 00:05:01 This grand hill. Terrible hill. And yeah, the centre of the town is the dump. Here's to you, Winona Imara. Here's to you. Oh, another one in the bag. It's a Versace bag as well. If you enjoyed that, give us a rating and a review
Starting point is 00:05:16 and be sure to tell your mates. You don't sound sincere there, boy. I'm just reading what's written here. ZM's Fletch, Vaughan and Hayley.
